improvisatory skills (language, chord relationships, scale relationships, etc.). Along with being within
a big band setting, the students will have the opportunity to perform in combo settings to help refine
their growing improvisation skills as well as nurture critical listening skills. The course will also be
supplemented with lectures on the history and development of jazz and commercial music as well as
listening sessions to place musical styles in appropriate contexts.

The Artist, Hans Rudi Giger and The Birth Machine
HR GIGER
The Swiss surrealist, Hans Rudi Giger is one of the few artists worldwide who does not and doesn t to
sign his works of art. He is considered the modern day master of the macabre and his works are
recognisable at first glance.
The motifs of birth, death and sex are the predominant subjects of Giger s art. From the beginning of
his career, powerful elements, seemingly inspired by repressed memories of a traumatic birth,
appeared from his talented hand. He willingly acknowledges that themes of birth trauma appear in his
works.
By 1966 he had begun producing a series of shaft pictures which had their primary origins in dreams.
Bottomless shafts, undoubtedly representative of the birth canal, surrounded by a series of steep
banister less stairways the embodying fear and danger predominated these pictures. Other works
produced at that time had birth allusions, and included underground cities as well as buried bio
mechanoids. These humanoid beings combined features of humans with mechanical equipment.
Continuing the birth trauma passage theme in his art, Giger later became engrossed with passages.
These pictures were the result of a series of dreams. He writes, in these I usually found myself in a
large white room without doors or windows, the only exit a

Examples Of Nick s First Words In The Great Gatsby
What do you think makes a good first impression? A good handshake, eye contact, the way they are
dressed? Authors of books will often use first impressions to show personalities of a character. F. Scott
Fitzgerald is one of those authors. In his book, The Great Gatsby, he uses first impressions of the
characters presented to us to show their personality and how they may act or be portrayed as in the
book. Nick and Daisy both have impressions that are crucial to the story. When Nick, the main
character and narrator, speaks his first words in the book, his first words show the audience that he is
someone who doesn t let go of things as quickly as others and will always remember what you say.

The Harm Principle In John Stuart Mill s Essay On Liberty
In this excerpt and the essay On Liberty (1859) as a whole John Stuart Mill seeks to set out the
guidelines for when liberty can be justly infringed upon and uses examples to show when liberty is
unjustly infringed upon by society or an authority within society.
During this excerpt John Stuart Mill sets out the Harm principle which would come to be influential in
both classical liberalism and modern day liberalism. The harm principle states that The only purpose
for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his
will, is to prevent harm to others (Mill, On Liberty, p13). In this he is placing the individual at the
centre of liberalism and the individual s freedom as one of the cornerstones of liberalism which still
persists to this day.
As John Stuart Mill set out in his harm principle that there are only a few circumstances under which a
community can rightfully exercise power over somebody this is shown when Mill states His own
good, either physical or moral, is not a sufficient warrant. He cannot rightfully be compelled to do or
forbear because it will be better for him to do so, because it will make him happier, because, in the
opinions of others, to do so would be wise, or even right (Mill, On Liberty and ... Show more content

Corruption In The Federal Government
Political corruption in the United States is present an at least one of the three branches of government
in all fifty states but is most common in the Legislative branch. Ending political corruption is nearly
impossible because public officials will always find a loophole in the existing laws but reducing
corruption is possible. The most efficient way to dramatically reducing political corruption is by
targeting the Legislative branch of the United States government. Two members of Congress are
trying to exactly do that by proposing a law, At the federal level, that would impose term limits on
members of Congress. Senator Ted Cruz and Representative Ron DeSantis are both pushing an
amendment to be added to the United States Constitution which would impose term limits on
members of the House of Representative and the Senate. Political corruption in the legislative branch
of the federal government is a problem because members of Congress will favor special interest rather
than their constituent. A law that was passed at the federal level to try solving this problem is the
Honest Leadership and Open Government Act and a proposed law at the state level Ohio
Strengthening Term Limits on State Legislators Amendment but both laws don t go far enough. By
Imposing term limits on Congress it will help reduce political corruption because it will constantly
bring new faces to Congress which will make it harder for special interest to have a grip on Congress.

Voluntary And Compulsory Voting Systems
Voluntary and Compulsory Voting Systems: The Affect on Democracy
Across the globe day after day, nations have been progressively attempting to improve the political
systems in which they inhabit, the most prominent political system currently standing as democracy.
But what exactly constitutes as democracy? Democracy is a term holding a spectrum of meanings,
many frequently overlapping. In its simplest, most basic form, democracy is referred to rule of the
people. Being the broad term it is, democracy tends to be represented in various ways around the
world. Despite these differences in representation, the endgame is all the same, a rule in the interest of
the people. Using specific countries as models, I strategize to discuss the differences between
compulsory voting in Australia and voluntary voting in Canada to determine whether compulsory
voting augments the quality of democracy. In this essay, I argue compulsory voting enhances the
quality of democracy. Through the lens of different voting systems, I plan to defend my claim by
discussing the effect that voter turnout, civic duty and accurate representation has on the quality of
democracy. While voting is only one of the countless elements involved in politics, it continues to be
the very foundation of our democracy, affecting every aspect of our lives. Whether compulsory or
voluntary, voting exists as a link between ourselves and those who have the authority to implement
our interests. The ability to vote is a

Completing All Of My Assignments For Writing
After completing all of my assignments for Writing 102, I have learned to manage my researching and
synthesizing skills in a different way. Furthermore, I now have a better understanding of what I should
include in my synthesizing process. After reviewing the learning objectives, I have found that
integrating evidence, synthesizing, and producing research based writing in context are now familiar
to me. When I had passed in my first synthesis, a lot of the feedback that was given to me was to
further evaluate my context. The revisions that were provided, gave me the chance to revaluate and
restructure my evidence for a stronger summary. In my opinion, synthesizing was the most important
duty in this course. It taught me how to closely match similar ideas together for a single analysis. It
was interesting to weave out information from one text and pair it with another. For example, in
Synthesis #1, I included both authors, Barbara Ehrenreich and Robert Reich. Ehrenreich s piece of
writing talked about the living conditions of a maid while Reich focused his work on sinking boats.
Even though each author talked about different circumstances, they both discussed income inequality.
Building my synthesizing skills was a major advantage to me. I can now express to works that have
similarities and differences.
Having a variety of examples that explain the same message in a different way is important to include.
This will influence readers in the point a writer is trying to make.

The Impact Of Eu Liberalisation Policy On The Uk Energy...
This essay will detail the impact of EU liberalisation policy on the UK energy industry and relate this
to a previous sample of a group of suppliers. This essay will discuss industry supplier concentration,
oligopoly and monopolistic competition, the EU competition commission and potential single markets
which are not yet subject to scrutiny by the competition commission.
Industry supplier concentration measures how many suppliers there are in a certain industry. The
amount of firms in an industry will affect whether the firms are involved in an oligopoly, a
monopolistic market or a perfectly competitive market. Concentration ratios can be used to measure
how concentrated a certain industry is. The most common concentration ratio used is the four firm
concentration ratio which measures the output of the 4 largest firms in the market and gives that as a
ratio of the overall industry sales. Another method of measuring concentration within an industry is by
using the Herfindahl Hirschman Index (HHI).This measurement is calculated by determining the
market share of each firm, squaring each number then adding them together. If the number that is
calculated is below 1000 it is considered to be of a low concentration and if it is above 1800 it is
considered highly concentrated, however it can be between 0 (perfect competition) and 10,000 (pure
monopoly). (MICROECONOMICS 2007)
In the sample, the suppliers will be measured by a HHI as to show market concentration. It would not

Historical Accuracy Of The Amistad
The title of the movie is called Amistad, which debuted December 25, 1997 and was directed by
Steven Spielberg; the main actors are: Morgan Freeman, Anthony Hopkins, Djimon Hounsou, and
Matthew McConaughey; the main purpose of the film is to show how the Amistad Case played a
significant role in the start of the Civil War and the hardships of illegal slaves on their passage to be
free.
At the beginning of the movie, a slave ship, named La Amistad, transporting illegal slaves from Cuba
was conquered by the slaves. Cinque, an illegal slave, demands that the Spanish owners take them
back to Africa. At a stop to get water, the ship was discovered by Americans. The slaves were
transported to America and thrown in jail. They are trialed for murder. ... Show more content on

I do not think the movie depicted America in the 1800 s well. I have seen an abundance of movies and
pictures where the 1800 s looked more realistic than in Amistad. There were special settings that
captured my attention. When Cinque was telling the translator about how he was captured, the setting
in Africa was unanticipated. I was looking forward to the scene being more along the lines of jungles
and wild animals, but instead it looked like a scene from Jamaica. Another scene that caught my
attention were the courtroom settings. Having knowledge about the size of older buildings and rooms
within those buildings, I knew things were not as spacious as they are now. The movie did a fabulous
job of showing that. In the movie, everyone looked compacted into one space and it looked over
capacitated. The judge s stand did not look so superior like it does now. The plaintiff and defendant
stands looked like regular tables and desks. The movie did a great job replicating a slave ship. When
the slaves were on the ship, their clothing, hair, and props like shackles, weapons, and chains looked
realistic. It had an excellent impact to the storyline of the slaves. The clothing worn by the English
men, soldiers, and Queen Isabella, were accurate regarding how they dressed in the 1800 s. The way
they spoke also gave it a more realistic feel. Having English, Mende, and Spanish spoken throughout
the movie made it have a special

The Collapse of the Westgate Bridge, Located in Melbourne,...
This report goes into detail the collapse of the Westgate Bridge, located in Melbourne, Australia. What
was meant to be a bridge that joined two sides of the city of Melbourne, lead to Australia s worst
workplace disaster in history, with a death toll of 35. Included in this report is a history of the planning
of the bridge, the events that lead to the collapse, as well as the collapse itself and how it happened.
Also covered are the ethical issues portrayed by the companies working on the construction of the
Westgate Bridge. I. INTRODUCTION On the 15th October, 1970, during its third year of
construction, the Westgate Bridge collapsed killing 35 men. The section of the bridge that collapsed

The new contractors were very experienced at working with concrete, but lacked the knowledge and
experience with working with steel. Because of this, John Holland only took on the work on the basis
of a labour management contract, which puts them in charge of the labour, but all the engineering
decisions were still up to World Service Constructions. This lead to confusion and lack of
communication between the parties working on the construction of the bridge. Four months prior to
the collapse, a similar design of bridge, also designed by Freeman Fox Partners, collapsed in Milford
Haven, Wales, killing four workers. Understandably, there was a lot of industrial unrest on the
construction site of the Westgate Bridge, although workers had been assured by Freeman Fox Partners
that the design of the Westgate was perfectly safe, but was not supported by any relevant or sufficient
calculations. IV.THE COLLAPSE During the construction, two half spans being assembled 50 meters
above ground level had a misalignment of 4.5 inches or 114mm in camber. It was suggested by John
Holland Constructions to use a kentledge to weigh down the higher section of bridge. It so happened
that they had ten, eight tonne concrete blocks on site. These were placed halfway along the higher
span to

Prohibition Of Alcohol In The 1920 s
During the 1920s, a national ban on alcohol was rumored to reduce crime and corruption, solve social
problems, and improve health and hygiene in America. This era of banned alcohol, was called
Prohibition. This law passed, banning all production on alcohol was enforced, leading to illegal
production of alcohol, executed in many different ways. This time era and circumstances have roughly
shaped America today. When Prohibition first went into effect, the alcohol consumption rate was 30
percent lower than before. It started with religious leaders leading the movement. By the 1900s,
temperance societies were common in communities across the United States. Women played a large
part in the temperance movement, alcohol was seen as a negative force in marriage. There was an Anti

Factory owners also supported Prohibition in order to prevent accidents and increase the quality of
their workers. World War I also added fuel to the Prohibitionist s movements. Ideas spread that the
brewing and distilling industries were taking precious grain, molasses, and labor from wartime
production. The nation was not going to give up that easily, alcohol was available through a physician
s prescription and there were now bootleggers to produce alcohol and speakeasies to serve it. During
Prohibition, doctors were able to prescribe liquor to patients on a specially designed government
prescription form that could be filled at any pharmacy. When medicinal whiskey stocks were low, the
government would increase its production. Alcohol prescriptions soared and a significant amount of
the supplies meant for the sick were taken by bootleggers. Keep in mind that this was during the
Depression, there was no funding of jobs, bootleggers were supplying jobs and making money.
Churches and clergy also had a provision. It allowed them to receive wine

The events leading up to, during, and following Hurricane Katrina in 2005 found the local, state, and
federal levels of government clashing, leading to a chaotic and ineffective governmental response.
During this time, the Department of Homeland Security contained
FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, only a few years after its creation.
However, this was the first major natural disaster the relocated FEMA. This intergovernmental clash

Without a qualified leader, the rest of the agency is doomed to being uncoordinated and less
competent overall.
Uncoordinated Response
Perhaps the biggest reason for governmental failure in response to Hurricane Katrina was the inability
for local, state, and federal actors to coordinate effectively. The first step for intergovernmental
involvement was taken by Louisiana Governor Kathleen B. Blanco when she declared a state of
emergency in Louisiana and asked for federal assistance (Stephens
Wikstrom, 2007, p. 248). President Bush followed suit and allowed FEMA to provide assistance and
federal funds. Soon after, New Orleans Mayor C. Ray Nagin ordered an evacuation of all people from
the city, many of whom fled to the Superdome and Convention Center.
The first intergovernmental clash involved the Louisiana National Guard. President Bush had asked to
take control of the National Guard, but Governor Blanco refused. Meanwhile, those in the Superdome
and the Convention Center needed to be evacuated still. While FEMA officials could not agree which
level of government would provide the service, the state National Guard

Compare and Contrast Marr and Nishihara’s and Biederman’s...
Option 2
Compare and contrast Marr and Nishihara s and Biederman s theories of object recognition. How well
do they explain how we are able to recognize three dimensional objects despite changes in viewing
angle?
Humphreys and Bruce (1989) proposed a model of object recognition that fits a wider context of
cognition. According to them, the recognition of objects occurs in a series of stages. First, sensory
input is generated, leading to perceptual classification, where the information is compared with
previously stored descriptions of objects. Then, the object is recognized and can be semantically
classified and subsequently named. This approach is, however, over simplified. Other theories like

This description is then matched against those stored in memory. According to Biedermann, geons are
detected on the basis of non accidental properties such as collinearity, symmetry and parallelism. Like
Marr and Nishihara, Biedermann sustains that primitives are invariant under changes in viewpoint.
Similarly, both theories are supported by research. Lawson and Humphreys (1996), for example,
showed that recognition is affected more by tilt of major axis (foreshortening) than any other rotation,
which endorses Marr s and Nishihara prediction that establishing a central axis is crucial to the
process of recognition. Warrington and Taylor (1978) reported that brain damaged patients could
recognize objects presented in a typical view only. These patients found difficult to say if two
photographs presented simultaneously were the same object when one image was a typical view and
the other an unusual view. Although this could be explained as the patient s inability to transform a 2D
version of the atypical view into a 3D model, it could also be due to difficulty in establishing the
central axis or due to some features of the object being hidden. In a later study, Humphreys and
Riddoch (1984) used images where either the axis had been foreshortened through rotation or a critical
feature was hidden. They found that patients had more problems recognizing the images with a
foreshortened axis than the ones where a critical feature was hidden. Their

Integration Paper: Developing My Structural Social Work Framework for Practice
Erin James
Carleton University
As an aspiring social worker, it is important to think about what theories to apply whilst working in
the field. Through a structural approach, I will use multiple theories in my practice, such as
intersectionality in regards to feminist social work and resilience and empowerment. This is because
one theory may not consider the limitations of the model in working to analyze, assess, and provide
intervention for clients (Lundy, 2011).
Intersectionality in terms of feminist social work understands the diversity amongst the experiences of
women based on multiple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This includes class, sexuality, and other structural barriers in which women are oppressed because of
their social location. To be specific, this theory emphasizes how someone s race and culture, for
example, may be factors in their oppression in addition to their gender, not only focusing on how they
are being oppressed based on their gender. I believe this will be important in my practice as a social
worker because I may be working with diverse clients that will have certain needs based on the
structural barriers they are facing in their daily lives. I am interested in working with women and may
work with women who are survivors of violence. Working with this population would mean that I
would have to recognize every aspect of their identity in order to able to fully help them and advocate
for them. For example, if I am working with an Aboriginal women who is a survivor of violence, it
would be effective in using Aboriginal ways of healing to aid in the process of the client s journey to
recovery. This could also mean using different approaches

The Service And The Joint Force
The Services and the Joint Force share the responsibility in ensuring that mission command is a
common attribute of our Profession of Arms. Our collective efforts must institutionalize mission
command by adopting and formalizing the character traits that enable a bias for action and responsible
initiative at all levels of the force. General Martin E. Dempsey, April 2012 INTRODUCTION Since
the beginning of our nation and the development and expansion of the services that defend it, we have
faced a myriad of complex issues: shrinking force structures, global security concerns, and fiscal
constraints to name a few. From George Washington s Continental Army, which evolved into the
current Joint Force operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, we are faced with increasing complexity of the
operating environment. This heightened complexity and ever shrinking available assets to satisfy these
requirements, are the very reason that all commanders at all levels need to find innovative ways to
increase operational efficiency in addition to lowering fiscal and asset demands. This new operating
environment has also driven the Army Reserve to transform from a traditional strategic force to an
operational force. Joint Publication 3 0 states that Successful mission command demands that
subordinate leaders at all echelons exercise disciplined initiative and act

Zeus And Greek Mythology
First off, Zeus was the god of thunder and lightning and was king of the gods. He was the son of the
Titan of time Kronus and was married to Hera. He is the father of Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Athena,
Dionysus, and Hephaestus. One myth pertaining to him is of him slaying his father. In it his father got
word that one of his children would overthrow him so Cronus decided to do the most logical thing to
prevent this from happening, and ate all of his children after they were born. But after a lot of
cannibalism, his wife Rhea decided to swap out one of her children with a baby sized rock and tricked
Cronus into eating it and letting Rhea s baby, named Zeus, live. After growing up without Cronus

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Technology And...
What do we understand from the word technology ? Technology is defined as the branch of
knowledge dealing with engineering or applied sciences. It originates from the Greek word
tekhnologia which means systematic treatment. In this modernised era, technology is a major part in
our society. People depend on technology with a growing need as it benefits many and solves
numerous problems in our daily life. However, for every advantage technology brings us, it also
brings disadvantages, especially in the aspects of creativity and communication. Creativity is the use
of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of artistic work. According to Rollo

For example, if a child had the capacity for expansive thought, and was able to readily engage

writing skills will deteriorate significantly and vocabularies will shrink due to their minds being

Communication technology is a tool which allows the technology for communication. This technology

The Language Gap Between First And Second Generation...
One out of every four children in the United States lives with at least one foreign born parent, and
eighty eight percent of those children are second generation (Zong). Second generation immigrants
typically acquire the language spoken in the receiving country (their second language, the L2) when
old enough to leave the household for schooling, while their parents first generation immigrants retain
their native language (the L1). While childhood arrivals effortlessly acquire the L2, higher wage
returns and better job opportunities are typically prerequisite incentives for older immigrants to invest
in learning the L2 (Isphording).
As described by the Sapir Whorf hypothesis, the language one speaks determines how one
conceptualizes the world a phenomenon also known as linguistic relativity ( sapir whorf hypothesis. ).
Similar to this is linguistic determinism, which dictates that the process of thought and mental
categorization of input is also affected by language. With cognition so directly affected by language,
the language gap between first and second generation immigrants allows the two groups to have very
different conceptualizations of the world.
Second generation immigrants typically find difficulty in coping with the clash of the native culture
and language instilled by their parents and the culture and L2 they acquire in the receiving country. To
reconcile this, second generation immigrants forge their own identities by combining parts of each.

The Holy Spirit Is God
The Holy Spirit is God Himself. He is a person that we can have a personal relationship with. Also,
the Holy Spirit is the one that God gave to us as a guide, to direct and teach us in living a Holy life
(King James Version, John 14:16). The Holy Spirit is the voice inside of us that tells us when
something is not right with the choices that we have made. The voice inside of us comes from God,
who loves and cares enough to show us our error that we have made. Also, the Holy Spirit is part of
the Trinity; where God transformed into three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. When
a person is born again, they believe and receive Jesus Christ (John 1:12 13), God comes through
people s life through the Holy Spirit (1Cor.3:16). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Holy Spirit also acts in non believers as well. The Holy Spirit makes people feel guilty about the
things that they have done and helps them to ask for God forgiveness on their sin. (John 16:8 11). The
Holy Spirit pulls on our hearts and minds asking us to repent and turn to God for forgiveness and a
new life. When the Apostle Paul was planting church in his missionary journey, he preached lots about
the duty of the Holy Spirit, and the role that he plays in our lives for example in Roman 8:1 8. In view
of this scripture, there is a very distinct difference between the human flesh and the Holy Spirit. The
Apostle Paul said that as long we become Christian, the Spirit of Jesus Christ has set us free from the
worldly law of sin. Whatever the flesh could not do Jesus Christ has come to paid it all and to set us
free from condemnation.
What is the Activity of the Holy Spirit?
The Bible talks about several roles that the Holy Spirit plays in the lives of people today. The first
thing that the Holy Spirit does is he provides conviction of sin to all people. John 16:8 said, And when
he comes, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment . Also, the Holy
Spirit works in several ways for many believers that follow Christ. One of the roles that He works is to
serve as a comforter and a helper in our daily life. In John 14:16 17 this means that there is someone
that is helping us and guiding us and encouraging us during difficult time of

Passenger Injured
Three Reasons a Passenger Injured in a Car Accident Needs an Attorney
If you were a passenger in a car that was involved in an accident and you have sustained injuries, you
are best served by contacting a personal injury attorney. Although it may seem straightforward to file a
claim, the situation may be complex. The following are three examples of this.
There is more than one car involved
If there are two cars involved, then you must decide who is at fault to file a claim. But you may not
have been paying attention, so you are not a witness. And the accident may not be one where there is a
clear case of fault. Even a police report may not shed enough light on the accident to make a clear
determination. In addition, the vehicle that hit you may be blaming another car for hitting them first.
This is common with several cars that rear end each other. It is best for an injured passenger to have a
personal injury attorney sort everything out.

the amount of compensation you are entitled to is beyond the amount of the policy, it may be possible
to bring a civil suit against the driver for additional compensation.
If you have been in a car accident as a passenger, your first course of action is to get medical attention.
After this, you should contact a personal injury attorney. Never make assumptions about who is

Pink Flamingo By Jennifer Price Analysis
In a world focused on material possession, the routine of an everyday lifestyle becomes dependent on
the haves owning more than the have nots. The United States culture tends to make trends and
popularity an everyday necessity to fit in. Through playful sarcasm, Jennifer Price illustrates the way
the American culture thrives off of acceptance and being bolder to not suffice but ultimately prosper.
Price characterizes the culture using a plastic pink flamingo to reveal the foolish, carefree, and
materialistic mindset the Americans possess. In her first paragraph, Jennifer Price contrasts the fun
and playful characteristics of the flamingo with the Capitalist aspects of the United States. The plastic
flamingoes splashed into the market ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the whole excerpt, she mentions two sources to add to her claim; Elvis Presley and
Benjamin Bugsy Siegel. These two characters mentioned each has a very distinct persona attached to
them. Elvis is most notably associated with his music and being the king , he drove a pink Cadillac
which Price directly associates to the pink flamingo saying that he bought it after this pink
phenomenon escalated. Elvis Presley is not one that comes to mind when you think business,
professional, and cultured. Price added him to her essay to emphasize exactly how our culture is based
on famous, fun, and carefree people that create trends for us to follow. The other person mentioned is
Siegel, a gangster that built the flamingo hotel and instantly created a flow of riches to the land known
as Las Vegas. The captains of industry run our wealthy culture, however instead of businessmen such
as political figures, men who run their business based off of trends, thrive. Price also uses alliteration
stating that everything was proliferated in passion pink and how the fifties favored flashy colors such
as the hot pink used to coat the plastic flamingo. Price does this to draw the reader s attention to these
specific lines, through them she discusses how the pink flamingo wasn t enough for the many
Americans that say go big or go home . Americans made everything pink after the flamingo, from

Peace Movement In The Vietnam War
Critically discuss how the peace movements played important roles in signifying the end of the
Vietnam War .
To what extent did the role of the peace movements prompt the US withdrawal from the Vietnam
War?
Since the start of the Vietnam War in 1955, there have been a range of valiant efforts involving peace
and disarmament. A peace movement is a social uprising that has the aims of ending wars, riots and
general violence while possessing the ultimate goal of peace. Media played a very interesting role in
terms of achieving peace and there have also been numerous events and self assigned spokespersons
who have greatly assisted and influenced a large amount of the public.
Throughout history, there have been artists who opposed the government s choices and specifically, in
the Vietnam War, artists like The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors and Bob Dylan have made music
that united people and fought the government s aggressive tactics towards those who were affected.
Around this time, young people that belonged to the Flower Power movement were called Hippies and

Was Lizzie Borden Really Innocent The number of kids that kill their parents is unbelievable. They

they were at first unrecognizable. Just because someone is found innocent in court, doesn t give an
absolute elimination of guilt. For example, Lizzie was imprisoned for ten months in Massachusetts.

the situation of the luxury market today. The six main facets are (Dubois/Laurent/Czellar, 2001, 8 ff.):
Very High Price (according to the absolute price (inter categorical) as well as the price relative to other
brands of the same category (intracategorical)). Excellent Quality (according to the processed

Burma American Revolution
Burma is located in southeastern Asia and bordered by the Bay of Bengal to the south, Bangladesh and
India to the north, China, Thailand, and Laos to the east. Today it is known as Myanmar and is home
to more than 100 ethnic groups. Yangon is one of the largest cities in the country with the well known
temple of Shwedagon Pagoda, which houses many beautiful Buddhist relics. However, prior to this,
Burma was actually a colony of Britain and suffered many human rights violations on the path to
independence. Burma fought with the British in 1945 to prevent Japanese invaders from entering
Burma during World War II. Aung San, leader of an anti fascist movement popular since the struggle
in Japan, built a military and political base to negotiate with Britain. According to Dulcinea, he was
temporarily in charge of the government which stirred conflicts in Burmese ethnic groups, yet he
proved to unify the nationalist movement. Fortunately, San signed a deal granting Burma
independence from the British in 1947. However before the deal went into full swing, San and cabinet
members were assassinated. These mournful deaths halted the advancement towards independence. In
the midst of the 1988 unrest, Aung San Suu Kyi, daughter of Aung Sun, returned to Burma to care for
her mother. She remained in Burma due to her sudden interest in politics. On ... Show more content on

Racial Stereotypes In The Media In American Mass Media
The mass media is a powerful force today in American pop culture. A lot of the images seen on
television, magazines, billboards, and on television have lasting impressions. Sometimes these
impressions create a negative impact. The media can be very destructive to society. Many different
ethnic groups and cultures are negatively affected by the content and images in the media. African
Americans seem to be on the very top of that list.
For some people in society, the only time they get to see another race is from the images portrayed
through the media. America is populated with many different cultures and races, often considered as
the world s largest melting pot. Learned ignorance with a combination of limited exposure and
negative images being the only depiction seen in different areas of the media lead to stereotyping of an
entire race. Since the infancy of television and newspaper, exposure of African Americans has been
scarce or even non existent. In the early times black culture in television and film were limited to
demeaning and cruel depictions of black people as being submissive, docile, and unintelligent. Many
black actors were only assigned to domestic roles, portrayed as savages, and other images that added
to the stereotypes of black people in that time in history. Blacks were rarely seen in news shows,
newspapers, but it seemed to only be shown if they were committing crimes. The negative stereotypes
of blacks in the media were a result of the lack of African

The regulation affects competition among the health insurance companies, and the insurance industry

Among the five forces of competition; existing competitive rivalry between suppliers, threat of new

The Morality Of Lying
Most people are vigilant that telling the truth is a good thing and telling lies is a deplorable thing, but
most of us at some point in our lives have been tempted to tell lies and find it very convenient. In fact
there are a number of reasons and circumstances that seems that telling lies is good thing. In this essay
I will firstly explain what morality is. Define moral relativism and moral egoism. Finally I will use
both theories to discuss the morality of lying.
What is Morality? Morality defined in Baker Encyclopedia of Christian Apologetics from Dr. Norman
Geisler, First, a morale duty is a good in itself (an end), not merely good as a means. Further, it is
something that we ought to pursue, a duty. Morality is prescriptive (an ought ), not merely descriptive
(an is ). Morality deals with what is right, as opposed to wrong. It is an obligation, that for which a
person is accountable. In other words Morality is the parting from right and wrong.
At first glimpse, moral relativism appears to be interesting, well tough out of a philosophical view.
According to Alan Bloom 1987.25 Moral relativism is the view that when it comes to questions of ...

that lying is right, the moral relativist would say that I am morally right so far as I do not lie and you

your actions or your set of beliefs as immoral, since your actions conform to your beliefs. Hence it

Self Love Is Vital For Living A Full Healthy Life
Self love is vital to living a full healthy life. It impacts who you fall in love with, how you present
yourself to the world, and how you cope with the certain problems you have in life. Insecurities play a
major role in ones self worth. Girls begin at a very young age forming these insecurities around all
aspects of their life. Earlier and earlier girls are comparing themselves to others on how they should
look like, creating images of unrealistic expectations of who they should be. I know for my daughter
who is 11 is already beginning to wonder why certain women look a certain way. I am constantly
reminding her of her own self worth to be for her and no one else. More young women need to find
their own voice, because the more self love you have for yourself, the better prepared you are for life,
and the relationships within your life. A lot can be gained from finding self awareness for all aspects in
your life, and from loving yourself comes trust for all involved.
Whether that may be your parents, friends, or even more important your partner without trust is

The Last Mohicans
The Last of the Mohicans Essay Everyone knows the famously old Arabic proverb, The enemy of my
enemy is my friend and how it demonstrates itself in various points throughout history. The movie The
Last Mohicans , which based of the bloody true event of the French and Indian War in 1757, is
certainly no exception. The film portrays the interactions, as well as relationships between the two
Native American tribes, the French, and the English. In the beginning, there was no separation of
which tribe was which. Due to the lack of identification, there was no distinction of tribes until the
main Huron, Magua, led the British troop into a Huron ambush while escorting them to the Fort.
Unlike their peaceful comparison tribe, the Mohicans, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite having a somewhat uncertain alliance, the Natives treated the soldiers with respect, even
referring to commanders as their English Fathers . Frontiersmen, or colonists, also were also honored,
due to the tight bond they shared with the tribe in everyday life. In comparison to the vengeful enemy,
the small tribe acted on keeping the English colonists, as well as the military, safe from the French and
their ally. To counteract the quiet ambush style of the Hurons, many survival techniques such as
walking along a waterfall to mask the sound of movement were shown to the few English to conceal
their position. These procedures kept the few still standing English alive, without the tops of their
heads cut off (for the time being). Albeit most interactions were positive, some were going against the
unwritten alliance. Seeing many colonists houses decimated and the inhabitants killed, it was
understandable for the men to want to get back home and defend the remaining frontier homes.
However, the English commanders would not allow them to return home to defend their own land, as
previously promised. Seeing them so desperate and witnessing the horrors of what the Hurons could
do, the Mohicans decided to help the colonists escape from the Fort, but for a price. Considered to
now to be traitors, the English captains took them prisoner in hand bindings, as if they had not saved
them from certain death from French soldiers and Huron tribesmen countless of times. Overall, the
relationship was mostly beneficial for the English, whereas the Mohicans only really prevented
themselves from becoming prisoners of the king

A Brief Note On P2p Vs. P2p
4.1 Description:
A peer to peer (P2P) network is created when two or more PCs are connected and share resources
without going through a separate server computer. A P2P network can be an ad hoc connection a
couple of computers connected via a Universal Serial Bus to transfer files. Peer to peer (P2P)
networking is the networking between the same type of devices. Peers are equally privileged. P2P is
an alternative network model to that provided by traditional client server architecture. In a P2P
network, every machine plays the role of client and server at the same time.
Peer to peer (P2P) is a decentralized communications model in which each party has the same
capabilities and either party can initiate a communication session. Unlike the client/server model, in
which the client makes a service request and the server fulfills the request, the P2P network model
allows each node to function as both a client and server.
In a peer to peer (P2P) network, every machine plays the role of client and server at the same time.
Although a P2P network has a number of advantages over the traditional client server model in terms
of efficiency and fault tolerance, additional security threats can be introduced. Users and IT
administrators need to be aware of the risks from propagation of malicious code, the legality of
downloaded content, and vulnerabilities within peer to peer software. Security and preventative
measures should be implemented to protect from any potential leakage of

Panera Bread Narrative
The present meets the past combined with sugar in my coffee.
As I sit and wait for a hint of inspiration from the sounds in my ear piece to give line with the
bottomless void of hope. Finally, someone familiar walks through the door at Panera Bread. My past
walks through the front door.
All those years that have passed, as I remember the girl who walked to class every morning in High
school. I remember every day I got to see her, in the morning. I put on my awkward smile to briefly
engage in paradigm fantasy. I was noticed even if presumed as a ghost walking through the hallways
and counting my steps until I await the escape to my cave at home. Four years of brutal awakenings
and isolation, that I would not get the girl, that kept me awake

The Artist, Hans Rudi Giger and The Birth Machine HR GIGER The Swiss surrealist, Hans Rudi Giger is one of the few artists worldwide who does not and doesn t to sign his works of art. He is considered the modern day master of the macabre and his works are recognisable at first glance. The motifs of birth, death and sex are the predominant subjects of Giger s art. From the beginning of his career, powerful elements, seemingly inspired by repressed memories of a traumatic birth, appeared from his talented hand. He willingly acknowledges that themes of birth trauma appear in his works. By 1966 he had begun producing a series of shaft pictures which had their primary origins in dreams. Bottomless shafts, undoubtedly representative of the birth canal, surrounded by a series of steep banister less stairways the embodying fear and danger predominated these pictures. Other works

Authors of books will often use first impressions to show personalities of a character. F. Scott Fitzgerald is one of those authors. In his book, The Great Gatsby, he uses first impressions of the characters presented to us to show their personality and how they may act or be portrayed as in the book. Nick and Daisy both have impressions that are crucial to the story. • 6. The Harm Principle In John Stuart Mill s Essay On Liberty In this excerpt and the essay On Liberty (1859) as a whole John Stuart Mill seeks to set out the guidelines for when liberty can be justly infringed upon and uses examples to show when liberty is unjustly infringed upon by society or an authority within society. During this excerpt John Stuart Mill sets out the Harm principle which would come to be influential in both classical liberalism and modern day liberalism. The harm principle states that The only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others (Mill, On Liberty, p13). In this he is placing the individual at the centre of liberalism and the individual s freedom as one of the cornerstones of liberalism which still persists to this day. As John Stuart Mill set out in his harm principle that there are only a few circumstances under which a community can rightfully exercise power over somebody this is shown when Mill states His own good, either physical or moral, is not a sufficient warrant. He cannot rightfully be compelled to do or forbear because it will be better for him to do so, because it will make him happier, because, in the opinions of others, to do so would be wise, or even right (Mill, On Liberty and ... • 7. Corruption In The Federal Government Political corruption in the United States is present an at least one of the three branches of government in all fifty states but is most common in the Legislative branch. Ending political corruption is nearly impossible because public officials will always find a loophole in the existing laws but reducing corruption is possible. The most efficient way to dramatically reducing political corruption is by targeting the Legislative branch of the United States government. Two members of Congress are trying to exactly do that by proposing a law, At the federal level, that would impose term limits on members of Congress. Senator Ted Cruz and Representative Ron DeSantis are both pushing an amendment to be added to the United States Constitution which would impose term limits on members of the House of Representative and the Senate. Political corruption in the legislative branch of the federal government is a problem because members of Congress will favor special interest rather than their constituent. A law that was passed at the federal level to try solving this problem is the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act and a proposed law at the state level Ohio Strengthening Term Limits on State Legislators Amendment but both laws don t go far enough. By Imposing term limits on Congress it will help reduce political corruption because it will constantly bring new faces to Congress which will make it harder for special interest to have a grip on Congress. • 8. Voluntary And Compulsory Voting Systems Voluntary and Compulsory Voting Systems: The Affect on Democracy Across the globe day after day, nations have been progressively attempting to improve the political systems in which they inhabit, the most prominent political system currently standing as democracy. But what exactly constitutes as democracy? Democracy is a term holding a spectrum of meanings, many frequently overlapping. In its simplest, most basic form, democracy is referred to rule of the people. Being the broad term it is, democracy tends to be represented in various ways around the world. Despite these differences in representation, the endgame is all the same, a rule in the interest of the people. Using specific countries as models, I strategize to discuss the differences between compulsory voting in Australia and voluntary voting in Canada to determine whether compulsory voting augments the quality of democracy. In this essay, I argue compulsory voting enhances the quality of democracy. Through the lens of different voting systems, I plan to defend my claim by discussing the effect that voter turnout, civic duty and accurate representation has on the quality of democracy. While voting is only one of the countless elements involved in politics, it continues to be the very foundation of our democracy, affecting every aspect of our lives. Whether compulsory or voluntary, voting exists as a link between ourselves and those who have the authority to implement our interests. The ability to vote is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Completing All Of My Assignments For Writing After completing all of my assignments for Writing 102, I have learned to manage my researching and synthesizing skills in a different way. Furthermore, I now have a better understanding of what I should include in my synthesizing process. After reviewing the learning objectives, I have found that integrating evidence, synthesizing, and producing research based writing in context are now familiar to me. When I had passed in my first synthesis, a lot of the feedback that was given to me was to further evaluate my context. The revisions that were provided, gave me the chance to revaluate and restructure my evidence for a stronger summary. In my opinion, synthesizing was the most important duty in this course. It taught me how to closely match similar ideas together for a single analysis. It was interesting to weave out information from one text and pair it with another. For example, in Synthesis #1, I included both authors, Barbara Ehrenreich and Robert Reich. Ehrenreich s piece of writing talked about the living conditions of a maid while Reich focused his work on sinking boats. Even though each author talked about different circumstances, they both discussed income inequality. Building my synthesizing skills was a major advantage to me. I can now express to works that have similarities and differences. Having a variety of examples that explain the same message in a different way is important to include. This will influence readers in the point a writer is trying to make. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Impact Of Eu Liberalisation Policy On The Uk Energy... This essay will detail the impact of EU liberalisation policy on the UK energy industry and relate this to a previous sample of a group of suppliers. This essay will discuss industry supplier concentration, oligopoly and monopolistic competition, the EU competition commission and potential single markets which are not yet subject to scrutiny by the competition commission. Industry supplier concentration measures how many suppliers there are in a certain industry. The amount of firms in an industry will affect whether the firms are involved in an oligopoly, a monopolistic market or a perfectly competitive market. Concentration ratios can be used to measure how concentrated a certain industry is. The most common concentration ratio used is the four firm concentration ratio which measures the output of the 4 largest firms in the market and gives that as a ratio of the overall industry sales. Another method of measuring concentration within an industry is by using the Herfindahl Hirschman Index (HHI).This measurement is calculated by determining the market share of each firm, squaring each number then adding them together. If the number that is calculated is below 1000 it is considered to be of a low concentration and if it is above 1800 it is considered highly concentrated, however it can be between 0 (perfect competition) and 10,000 (pure monopoly). (MICROECONOMICS 2007) In the sample, the suppliers will be measured by a HHI as to show market concentration. It would not be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Historical Accuracy Of The Amistad The title of the movie is called Amistad, which debuted December 25, 1997 and was directed by Steven Spielberg; the main actors are: Morgan Freeman, Anthony Hopkins, Djimon Hounsou, and Matthew McConaughey; the main purpose of the film is to show how the Amistad Case played a significant role in the start of the Civil War and the hardships of illegal slaves on their passage to be free. At the beginning of the movie, a slave ship, named La Amistad, transporting illegal slaves from Cuba was conquered by the slaves. Cinque, an illegal slave, demands that the Spanish owners take them back to Africa. At a stop to get water, the ship was discovered by Americans. The slaves were transported to America and thrown in jail. They are trialed for murder. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I do not think the movie depicted America in the 1800 s well. I have seen an abundance of movies and pictures where the 1800 s looked more realistic than in Amistad. There were special settings that captured my attention. When Cinque was telling the translator about how he was captured, the setting in Africa was unanticipated. I was looking forward to the scene being more along the lines of jungles and wild animals, but instead it looked like a scene from Jamaica. Another scene that caught my attention were the courtroom settings. Having knowledge about the size of older buildings and rooms within those buildings, I knew things were not as spacious as they are now. The movie did a fabulous job of showing that. In the movie, everyone looked compacted into one space and it looked over capacitated. The judge s stand did not look so superior like it does now. The plaintiff and defendant stands looked like regular tables and desks. The movie did a great job replicating a slave ship. When the slaves were on the ship, their clothing, hair, and props like shackles, weapons, and chains looked realistic. It had an excellent impact to the storyline of the slaves. The clothing worn by the English men, soldiers, and Queen Isabella, were accurate regarding how they dressed in the 1800 s. The way they spoke also gave it a more realistic feel. Because of this, John Holland only took on the work on the basis of a labour management contract, which puts them in charge of the labour, but all the engineering decisions were still up to World Service Constructions. This lead to confusion and lack of communication between the parties working on the construction of the bridge. Four months prior to the collapse, a similar design of bridge, also designed by Freeman Fox Partners, collapsed in Milford Haven, Wales, killing four workers. Understandably, there was a lot of industrial unrest on the construction site of the Westgate Bridge, although workers had been assured by Freeman Fox Partners that the design of the Westgate was perfectly safe, but was not supported by any relevant or sufficient calculations. IV.THE COLLAPSE During the construction, two half spans being assembled 50 meters above ground level had a misalignment of 4.5 inches or 114mm in camber. It was suggested by John Holland Constructions to use a kentledge to weigh down the higher section of bridge. It so happened that they had ten, eight tonne concrete blocks on site. Blanco when she declared a state of emergency in Louisiana and asked for federal assistance (Stephens Wikstrom, 2007, p. 248). President Bush followed suit and allowed FEMA to provide assistance and federal funds. Soon after, New Orleans Mayor C. • 16. Compare and Contrast Marr and Nishihara’s and Biederman’s... Option 2 Compare and contrast Marr and Nishihara s and Biederman s theories of object recognition. How well do they explain how we are able to recognize three dimensional objects despite changes in viewing angle? Humphreys and Bruce (1989) proposed a model of object recognition that fits a wider context of cognition. According to them, the recognition of objects occurs in a series of stages. First, sensory input is generated, leading to perceptual classification, where the information is compared with previously stored descriptions of objects. Then, the object is recognized and can be semantically classified and subsequently named. This approach is, however, over simplified. Other theories like Marr and Nishihara s and Biederman s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This description is then matched against those stored in memory. According to Biedermann, geons are detected on the basis of non accidental properties such as collinearity, symmetry and parallelism. Like Marr and Nishihara, Biedermann sustains that primitives are invariant under changes in viewpoint. Similarly, both theories are supported by research. Lawson and Humphreys (1996), for example, showed that recognition is affected more by tilt of major axis (foreshortening) than any other rotation, which endorses Marr s and Nishihara prediction that establishing a central axis is crucial to the process of recognition. Warrington and Taylor (1978) reported that brain damaged patients could recognize objects presented in a typical view only. These patients found difficult to say if two photographs presented simultaneously were the same object when one image was a typical view and the other an unusual view. Although this could be explained as the patient s inability to transform a 2D version of the atypical view into a 3D model, it could also be due to difficulty in establishing the central axis or due to some features of the object being hidden. In a later study, Humphreys and Riddoch (1984) used images where either the axis had been foreshortened through rotation or a critical feature was hidden. They found that patients had more problems recognizing the images with a foreshortened axis than the ones where a critical feature was hidden. Their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Social Work Framework (No subject) EJ Erin James ( removed HTML ) Reply| Today, 6:40 PM You Integration Paper: Developing My Structural Social Work Framework for Practice Erin James Carleton University As an aspiring social worker, it is important to think about what theories to apply whilst working in the field. Through a structural approach, I will use multiple theories in my practice, such as intersectionality in regards to feminist social work and resilience and empowerment. I believe this will be important in my practice as a social worker because I may be working with diverse clients that will have certain needs based on the structural barriers they are facing in their daily lives. I am interested in working with women and may work with women who are survivors of violence. Working with this population would mean that I would have to recognize every aspect of their identity in order to able to fully help them and advocate for them. Our collective efforts must institutionalize mission command by adopting and formalizing the character traits that enable a bias for action and responsible initiative at all levels of the force. General Martin E. Dempsey, April 2012 INTRODUCTION Since the beginning of our nation and the development and expansion of the services that defend it, we have faced a myriad of complex issues: shrinking force structures, global security concerns, and fiscal constraints to name a few. From George Washington s Continental Army, which evolved into the current Joint Force operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, we are faced with increasing complexity of the operating environment. This heightened complexity and ever shrinking available assets to satisfy these requirements, are the very reason that all commanders at all levels need to find innovative ways to increase operational efficiency in addition to lowering fiscal and asset demands. This new operating environment has also driven the Army Reserve to transform from a traditional strategic force to an operational force. • 24. The Language Gap Between First And Second Generation... One out of every four children in the United States lives with at least one foreign born parent, and eighty eight percent of those children are second generation (Zong). Second generation immigrants typically acquire the language spoken in the receiving country (their second language, the L2) when old enough to leave the household for schooling, while their parents first generation immigrants retain their native language (the L1). While childhood arrivals effortlessly acquire the L2, higher wage returns and better job opportunities are typically prerequisite incentives for older immigrants to invest in learning the L2 (Isphording). As described by the Sapir Whorf hypothesis, the language one speaks determines how one conceptualizes the world a phenomenon also known as linguistic relativity ( sapir whorf hypothesis. ). Similar to this is linguistic determinism, which dictates that the process of thought and mental categorization of input is also affected by language. With cognition so directly affected by language, the language gap between first and second generation immigrants allows the two groups to have very different conceptualizations of the world. Second generation immigrants typically find difficulty in coping with the clash of the native culture and language instilled by their parents and the culture and L2 they acquire in the receiving country. To reconcile this, second generation immigrants forge their own identities by combining parts of each. The resulting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also, the Holy Spirit is the one that God gave to us as a guide, to direct and teach us in living a Holy life (King James Version, John 14:16). The Holy Spirit is the voice inside of us that tells us when something is not right with the choices that we have made. The voice inside of us comes from God, who loves and cares enough to show us our error that we have made. When the Apostle Paul was planting church in his missionary journey, he preached lots about the duty of the Holy Spirit, and the role that he plays in our lives for example in Roman 8:1 8. In view of this scripture, there is a very distinct difference between the human flesh and the Holy Spirit. • 40. Phillis Wheatley s A Revolutionary Dinner A Revolutionary Dinner If I were to have dinner with any of the revolutionaries, it would have to be with Phillis Wheatley. Besides her being one of the few woman listed as a revolutionary person, she deserves recognition. She is one of the most unheard of woman I have ever heard of in this period of time. Good for her to be one of the best known poets in history and the first African American poet at that. Her being a slave must have been hard enough, and to be documented is a miracle. To face oppression, prejudice, hate and the possibility of being taken back as slave, I am very glad to have heard her story. Since she got the chance to meet the President George Washington at a point in her life then I must have read one of her poems in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Morality Of Lying Most people are vigilant that telling the truth is a good thing and telling lies is a deplorable thing, but most of us at some point in our lives have been tempted to tell lies and find it very convenient. In fact there are a number of reasons and circumstances that seems that telling lies is good thing. In this essay I will firstly explain what morality is. Define moral relativism and moral egoism. Finally I will use both theories to discuss the morality of lying. What is Morality? Morality defined in Baker Encyclopedia of Christian Apologetics from Dr. Norman Geisler, First, a morale duty is a good in itself (an end), not merely good as a means. Further, it is something that we ought to pursue, a duty. Morality is prescriptive (an ought ), not merely descriptive (an is ). Morality deals with what is right, as opposed to wrong. It is an obligation, that for which a person is accountable. In other words Morality is the parting from right and wrong. At first glimpse, moral relativism appears to be interesting, well tough out of a philosophical view. According to Alan Bloom 1987.25 Moral relativism is the view that when it comes to questions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... More importantly, moral relativism suggests that no one set of beliefs is entitled to precedence over another: in other words, there is no correct morality, just individual sets of beliefs (http://able2know.org/topic/24585 1). In other words if I believe that lying is wrong and you believe that lying is right, the moral relativist would say that I am morally right so far as I do not lie and you would be morally right so far as you do lie. Furthermore there is no standard by which I could judge your actions or your set of beliefs as immoral, since your actions conform to your beliefs. Hence it entirely depends on the individual to decide if lying is wrong or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Self Love Is Vital For Living A Full Healthy Life Self love is vital to living a full healthy life. It impacts who you fall in love with, how you present yourself to the world, and how you cope with the certain problems you have in life. Insecurities play a major role in ones self worth. Girls begin at a very young age forming these insecurities around all aspects of their life. Earlier and earlier girls are comparing themselves to others on how they should look like, creating images of unrealistic expectations of who they should be. I know for my daughter who is 11 is already beginning to wonder why certain women look a certain way. I am constantly reminding her of her own self worth to be for her and no one else. More young women need to find their own voice, because the more self love you have for yourself, the better prepared you are for life, and the relationships within your life. A lot can be gained from finding self awareness for all aspects in your life, and from loving yourself comes trust for all involved. Whether that may be your parents, friends, or even more important your partner without trust is something that is mandatory. Trust is something that will be the foundation in maintaining in almost every relationship you will ever encounter. All relationships that people build are based on trust on the other person s true intentions. Without trust, there would be no relationship at all. (Masters) This statement literally says it all, trust is one of the things that every relationship starts with, yet one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. The Last Mohicans The Last of the Mohicans Essay Everyone knows the famously old Arabic proverb, The enemy of my enemy is my friend and how it demonstrates itself in various points throughout history. The movie The Last Mohicans , which based of the bloody true event of the French and Indian War in 1757, is certainly no exception. The film portrays the interactions, as well as relationships between the two Native American tribes, the French, and the English. In the beginning, there was no separation of which tribe was which. Due to the lack of identification, there was no distinction of tribes until the main Huron, Magua, led the British troop into a Huron ambush while escorting them to the Fort. Despite having a somewhat uncertain alliance, the Natives treated the soldiers with respect, even referring to commanders as their English Fathers . Frontiersmen, or colonists, also were also honored, due to the tight bond they shared with the tribe in everyday life. In comparison to the vengeful enemy, the small tribe acted on keeping the English colonists, as well as the military, safe from the French and their ally. To counteract the quiet ambush style of the Hurons, many survival techniques such as walking along a waterfall to mask the sound of movement were shown to the few English to conceal their position. These procedures kept the few still standing English alive, without the tops of their heads cut off (for the time being). Albeit most interactions were positive, some were going against the unwritten alliance. Seeing many colonists houses decimated and the inhabitants killed, it was understandable for the men to want to get back home and defend the remaining frontier homes. However, the English commanders would not allow them to return home to defend their own land, as previously promised. Seeing them so desperate and witnessing the horrors of what the Hurons could do, the Mohicans decided to help the colonists escape from the Fort, but for a price. Considered to now to be traitors, the English captains took them prisoner in hand bindings, as if they had not saved them from certain death from French soldiers and Huron tribesmen countless of times. Overall, the relationship was mostly beneficial for the English, whereas the Mohicans only really prevented themselves from becoming prisoners of the king ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A P2P network can be an ad hoc connection a couple of computers connected via a Universal Serial Bus to transfer files. Peer to peer (P2P) networking is the networking between the same type of devices. Peers are equally privileged. P2P is an alternative network model to that provided by traditional client server architecture. In a P2P network, every machine plays the role of client and server at the same time. Peer to peer (P2P) is a decentralized communications model in which each party has the same capabilities and either party can initiate a communication session. Unlike the client/server model, in which the client makes a service request and the server fulfills the request, the P2P network model allows each node to function as both a client and server. In a peer to peer (P2P) network, every machine plays the role of client and server at the same time. Although a P2P network has a number of advantages over the traditional client server model in terms of efficiency and fault tolerance, additional security threats can be introduced. Users and IT administrators need to be aware of the risks from propagation of malicious code, the legality of downloaded content, and vulnerabilities within peer to peer software.
