Waste Land Brazil
Art, Inequality and Dirty Work
The really magical things are the ones that happen right in front of you. A lot of the time you keep
looking for beauty, but it is already there. And if you look with a bit more intention, you see it.
Vic Muniz
Different films and documentaries about other cultures help expand our knowledge by
introducing values, struggles, innovations and beliefs beyond our daily experience by
encouraging us to explore values that a different from our own. The acclaimed documentary Waste
Land produced by Lucy Walker transports viewers to Jardim Gramacho, a large landfill site
located on the outskirts of Rio De Janiero, Brazil. The documentary follows Brazilian born artist
Vik Muniz as he searches for an answer to the question ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All waste that Brazilians throw out is sorted and categorised by the hardworking Catadores, as
TiГ o a character in the film says we are not pickers, of garbage we are pickers of recyclable
materials. Garbage can t be reused, whereas recycle material can. . The Catadores wear uniforms
that symbolise an organised group, which prevent recyclable materials from ending up in the
landfill so they can protect the wasted resources that have good use from the rich and middle
class people in Brazil. Materials collected by the pickers are then used to recreate useful objects
such as furniture and as seen in the film the materials can be used through Art. Another example
from the documentary that conveys the idea of sustainability is through the character named
Irma. Irma is an elderly lady who makes use of all food that is found in the landfill. She provides
the Catadors with Juice, Coffee and provides food for everyone. In the film, Irma quotes I never
let anyone go hungry . She makes use of everything even the expired food that is found in the
wasteland which is still cooked and eaten ensuring that all waste and resources are used. Comparing
these values to Australians, Australians value the resources we also have such as food, water,
shelter, clothing and our wide useful range of available materials. The Australian population has
different ideas about sustainability but only a sample

Pensacola Harbor
The naval side of the civil war in Florida all started with the Pensacola harbor. There was a navy
yard and three forts guarding the harbor, including Fort Barrancas, Fort McRee, and Fort Pickins.
On January 8, 1861, Florida Governor Madison S. Perry authorized Colonel Chase to seizing the
forts at Pensacola. On the Fort Barrancas, 1st Lieutenant Adam J. Slemmer was an officer from
Montgomery County, Pennsylvania during the Seminole Wars and the American Civil War
. He heard
rumors that the Florida Militia was planning on seizing the Navy Yard, the barracks and the forts in
the Pensacola areas. With Slemmer not wanting to enter the union he moved gunpowder and other
materials to Fort Pickens, which he thought, would be the safest port to fight from.
On January 10, 1861, Florida seceded from the U.S. being the third state to secede. On January 15
and January 18 Slemmer refused demands for surrender from Colonel William Henry Chase who
designed and constructed Fort Pickens. Fort Pickens was thought to be the first war of the civil
war but it took a long time for it to happen. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Research Methodology And The Execution Of Slr
2.Research Method
This section provides an overview research method i.e. systematic literature review (SLR) used in
thesis research; it describes the research methodology, the design and the execution of SLR.
2.1 Overview of Systematic Literature Review
This section of chapter was to thoroughly define and go through systematic literature review
research method.
2.1.1 Definition
Kitchenham and Charters (2007) proposed that systematic literature review has been a widespread
research methodology since 1990s, but it was initiated by medical research where number of well
documented standards has evidently showed its use. While, since the year 2004, systematic reviews
are also performed by many software engineering researchers and number of important engineering
conferences also seek submissions in this research category. In addition to this many popular
journals and magazines have distinct section for papers, which are also based on this research
methodology. (Kitchenham Charters, 2007)
According to Kitchenham,
A systematic literature review (often referred to as a systematic review) is a means of identifying,
evaluating and interpreting all available research relevant to a particular research question, or topic
area, or phenomenon of interest (p.8).
The fundamental study of the systematic literature review is known as primary studies, and the
systematic literature itself is known as a form of secondary study.

Gabriel Conroy Character Analysis
Gabriel Conroy is a book reviewer, a teacher at a university and a writer; he is very well
educated. It is his high level of education which prevents him from opening in the crowd soon.
He also very easily feels out of place because of his high class literary endeavors. He tends to
give a lot of thought into whatever he is doing which also focusses another aspect of his
personality i.e. self doubt. We can clearly see he is self deceived as he shuffles to go into the
circle of his own egotism while rationalizing with his self scrutiny. Stephen also explicitly makes
clear his artistic bias being influenced by his self scrutiny. He, through the process of self
examination tends to make them have a control over themselves while avoiding their ego. This...

when he was around 3). As the title suggests, we see the portrait of Stephen coming into view as
we read on while The Dead only describes a night in Gabriel s life. Stephen s second name has a
lot to do with the kind of artist he wishes to become or already is. He moves above and over the
labyrinth that traps him, i.e. the labyrinth of social boundaries and politics. He is also very
knowledgeable in aesthetics and can see things creatively i.e. like a true artist since a very early
age. This paints a bold picture of him being the artist and it gets detailed as he grows up showing
intelligible aesthetic tastes. Gabriel Conroy on the other hand is not so boldly described as an
artist although he does struggle from the fear of being one. For instance, He was undecided about
the lines from Robert Browning for he feared they would be above the heads of his hearers ...That
their grade of culture differed from his (179). Therefore, he was quite afraid of getting meddled up

Summary Of Are We Too Casual About Nuclear Arms Threat By...
Are we too casual about nuclear arms threat? by John M. Crisp. The genre is an editorial (January
3,2017). Crisp shows that people are too nonchalant about nuclear weapons and their dangerous
effects because of their daily lives and work which do not allow for them to worry about these
threats through the use of rhetorical appeals. The earth already suffers from the climate change, yet
the American people still ignore the history of what happened to Hiroshima and Nagasaki and all
the damages U.S inflicted. Countries yet race to develop plentiful nuclear weapons that are having
conflict with other countries. Crisp appeals to logos by utilizing factual information such as the
effects of climate change inflicted by nuclear bombs. The author

The Importance Of Music In My Life
While most other people listen to music they often use the phrases This song is my life., This
song perfectly describes ME. Unfortunately, I am unable to use any of those phrases. I have
always had a hard time finding one song that perfectly fit all the distant corners of my
personality, or the situations I have had to endure. I have had to settle with finding songs that
could fit in the playlist called my life. My life has been one of the most intense rides ever to be
ridden in history. Music has helped me during the times I confronted my biological father about all
of my feelings. It has helped me learn how to not dwell on feelingguilty for expressing how I
actually feel. Music has taught me to embrace my insecurities, and it has guided me in
discovering what I want to do with my career. Finally, music has helped me love myself for what
I truly am and nothing that I am not. Music is a powerful force that cannot only influence other
people s attitude, but it also can contribute to their actions. Other people find serenity in art,
jogging, or even MMA fighting, but music is my therapy. The one song that has made a huge
impact on my playlist would have to be Praying, by Kesha. In her music video, she starts with a
monologue that hit me on a personal level that has been something that I live by during my
everyday life. It goes, Am I dead or is this one of those dreams that seems like it goes on forever. If
I am alive; Why? If there is a god or whatever,

Symptoms And Treatment Of Health
The definition of health describes the way we feel physically, mentally and socially and being
free from any illness or injury. Health is not an easy term to define as for some people it includes
mental health and for others it just involves physical health and these two are very different.
The term Illness refers to the way in which disease is experienced. Characteristics of a person with
good health include a working immune system, good complexion, high energy, good
communication, positive mood and mental state. Poor health will be basically the opposite, with
being unwell frequently, mental illness, weight issues, poor complexion or substance abuse.

Health and mental health is not just defined within the medical context, it can also be defined by
the person and the persons family and social networks. This is one of the main reasons the terms are
hard to define as the definitions may vary from culture to culture. The three main categories are
physical appearance, emotional disposition and behaviour. Some people believe that there are no
symptoms then there is no disease. Other cultures believe that physical, emotional and spiritual
wellbeing are the three most important things for good health.
Sociologists think that a society depends on health people and being able to control illness. A
man named Talcott Parsons identified what he called the sick role. He meant to describe the
behaviour towards the sick person and the behaviour of the sick person. Parsons identified four
roles of the sick role:
Not held responsible for being sick
Not responsible for normal duties
Not supposed to like the role
Supposed to seek help to get out of the role
In a society, people who are acting sick will get sympathy. If people do not act sick or ask for any
help they will lose the sympathy they were getting.
Some people believe that you can only determine whether you are ill or not by science. A good
example is some people only class diseases as legitimate if they have a common scientific diagnosis
such as cancer or heart disease. These people are likely to slow less sympathy if someone is

Mass Media Essay
Mass Media Have you ever had an original thought? Why do we dress the way we do, watch
what we watch or even live the way we do. Through our means of entertainment, it is almost a
guide in how one should live their life. With the technology we have in our world we are
persuaded to believe what is right and what is wrong. Although we create our own world, our
thoughts were imposed upon us since the day we are born. What if the world is some kind of
show. What if we are only talents assembled by the Great Talent Scout Up Above! The Great Show

Women in magazines are usually tall, extremely thin, and their faces are covered in makeup.
Women can easily develop insecurities in the way they look and feel about themselves because of
magazines. Women choose to read certain magazines according to their interests. However, their
interests are usually congruent with those of the majority of women or they wouldn t be reading
that particular magazine and those magazines wouldn t stay in business. On the flip side of the
sex factor, influences from magazines such as For Him magazine and Maxim weigh heavily on
many men s self security. These magazines teach men not only how they should look but also how
they should view things. An example of this is a macho, semi sexist, tough guy, bull headed, over
confident attitude. These magazines define for men the writer s essence of a real man. Men as a
whole atone themselves to such lifestyles probably out of fear of not living by these structures.
Although magazines have a strong influence on the masses they are by no means the most
influential medium there is.
This brings me to television programming and how it impacts out lives. Television is hands down
the most influential form of media we have. Hundreds of millions of people sit down each day to
plug themselves into their favorite sitcom or program. Television shows help us not only structure
our appearance but also shape our morals and

Native Civilizations And The United States
As I was sitting in a classroom learning about world history, I wondered how the ancient
civilizations responded to the immigration challenges that they had to face. Since the early
civilizations, people have immigrated from place to place to find a better life for their families.
The bad situations they live in obligated them to leave their houses and immigrated to unknown
places. Even today thousands of people immigrate to another country looking for a better life. For
example, throughout the American history millions of people around the world have left their
homelands for a chance to start a new life in the United States. In the stories, Changing America
2001, Letters from an American farmer, the Art of Happiness, and Silent Dancing, we can see the
most common problem that immigrants face in this country, finding their identity. As an immigrant,
I personally have experienced some of the challenges that the immigrants in these stories share. I
have gone through the process of adjusting to living in a country where another language is spoken
and has a different culture.
As humans, we start developing our identity since we are children. The living situations that we
face have a big impact in defining who we are. The story Silent Dancing is an example of how
culture shapes us in who we are. Culture refers to the characteristics of a particular group of people,
including their language, cuisine, social habits, religion, music, and arts. It is a people s way of life.

The Epic Of Gilgamesh And Gilgamesh
In the Epic of Gilgamesh there are many notable relationships but the relationship between
Gilgamesh and Enkidu is hands down the most noteworthy. When analyzing the relationship of
Gilgamesh and Enkidu there are many factors that go into play. It is really the sole foundation of
the whole Sumerian epic and it really changes the whole personality of Gilgamesh. In order to
get a better understanding of how the two characters complement each other we have to first
break down their individual appearances and characteristics. After that is made clear then it is
more appropriate to begin to analyze their relationship which in time turns out to be a
relationship for the ages. Gilgamesh like many other mythological heroes was fortunate enough
to be made up of two parts, part man and part god. Of all of the men in his land he was the
greatest and before he met Enkidu he used that to his advantage in both positive and negative
ways. He was the most ferocious warrior and the most creative architect they had ever seen.
Before the arrival of his better half, Gilgamesh used to force hard labor upon his people, rape his
women, and selfishly indulge his appetite. With that being said you can pretty see with a clear
eye view that before Enkidu s arrival, Gilgamesh was not that easy to like. Enkidu on the other
hand is described as being a hairy chested and brawny man. He was made from clay by Aruru, who
is the goddess of creation. He was indeed created to take away all of the arrogance

Sports And Exercise Psychology Myths
Sport and Exercise Psychology Myths Timothy R. Horn Emporia State University Myths are
commonly taken as fact when it comes to many of these areas of sport psychology. Coaches,
teachers, and athletes will never change unless they inspect or are taught the facts and research
behind these various theories and behaviors. This can be a large problem for those athletes who
are instructed incorrectly, and it could potentially damage their futures in athletic competitions.
Myth #1: Personality traits alone account for behavior in sports and exercise. (Personality)
Researchers since the 1960 s and 1970 s have inspected personality behaviors and had no success
in pinning personalities to a certain sport. For example, successful middle linebackers in football
tend to have aggressive personalities, but other successful linebackers may not have that same
personality quality. (Weinburg and Gould, 40). Correlating personalities to define athletes is no
easy task because there are too many variables to consider. However, there was a study done many
years ago in 1977, by Schurr, Ashley and Joy, that depicted significant results regarding influence on
choice and sports performance. They researched around 2000 students using a questionnaire to find
differences between non athletes and athletes. They concluded that no unique personality profiles
deciphered between athletes and non athletes. However, during their study they did find behavioral
correlations when

environment goes a long way in terms of supporting information security. As an example, users
during the course of employment will be exposed to confidential information. In efforts or reduce
the risk of leaks associated with such content the organization must require all employees sign a

For an organization to run smoothly, organizations must utilize polies and procedures. Furthermore,
to ensure a smooth operation those policies and procedures must be enforced. Unfortunately, one of
the most difficult aspects of ensuing policies are effective within the organization is through policy

are those within an organization who at times have a problem with the policies within the
organization who dislike guidelines before them to include top performers. However, an equal

The set, designed by Jill Davis, overall was very impressive and worked very well with the
show. When I first walked into the theater, I could tell right away that the show was set in the
future. The intricate design all over the floor gave a very futuristic feel, as well as the appliances
over where the kitchen area was. One of the most impressive aspects of the set was the fact that
the sink had running water. Something that the show didn t necessarily need, but when you saw
it you knew that the team had gone above and beyond to make sure that the show was the best
that it could be, and that didn t go unnoticed. Everything on the set looked futuristic and new, that
is, except for Majorie s chair at the beginning of the show, it represented how Majorie stuck out
in this new era, and how she longed for things the way they were when she was young, and it
brought great symbolism into the show. The costumes, designed by Inda Blatch Geib, were a
wonderful addition to the show as well. With this play being set in the future, it would be very
easy to go over the top with costumes and put each of the characters in absurd clothing that is
extreme. But instead of doing this, she kept the costume plot very simple. She put each of them in
clothes that fit their character and were very simple, which fit the show very well, and I
appreciated it. I really liked the

Liberalism Vs. Realism Essay
Liberalism vs. Realism
In a world where the drive for power and the will to dominate are held to be fundamental aspects of
human nature as the Classical Realists would argue, the necessity for International Organizations
cannot be dismissed as some liberalists argue. According to Iriye 2002, IGO s consists of
institutions that come into existence through formal agreements among nations and represent their
corresponding governments (Iriye 2002, Pg. 12 14). With that in mind, some liberalists argue that
joining international organizations and institutions like the United Nations socializes some leaders
so that their motivations are more benign (Dunne 2011, Pg. 103). I am convinced to a certain
extent with this idea as I feel that even though classical realists argue that every man has within
him the desire to rule or the desire for power (Dunne and Schmidt 2011, Pg. 90). When several
leaders come together all from different IR theoretical backgrounds (liberalists, realists,
constructivists) each decision they make comes collectively thus not leaving too much room for
their individual biases based on their theoretical perspectives to impact important international
relations issues negatively . Although I highly doubt if anything can be done to control the human
desire for power accumulation as a classical realist would say, a part of the psyche of man, I do
believe the liberalists argument to be of substance.
Because IGO s result in socialization, they also create a

The statistics are from 2012, so they could be slightly misleading because certain crimes could

due to the fact of the percentages of the populations of each race in the United states. Statistically,
whites commit more crimes than any other race, this is to be expected because they make up the
highest percentage of the United States population. The percentage of whites is 62.6% of the

Confederate First Shot
History 3355: US Civil War and Reconstruction
For the assignment I read the article The Confederates and the First Shot. It is a well thought out
and developed argument to the issue of who is really responsible for the start of the Civil War in
1861. Authored by Richard N. Current, the article seems to be examining the idea that it is
Jefferson Davis, and not Abraham Lincoln that began the war. Why would Richard Current
explore this notion? To begin, if you examine who Richard Current is by profession, you will
quickly see that he is a historian who specializes in Abraham Lincoln. This gives a quick glance
viability to the argument, but at the same time invites the openness for bias or fact picking.
Therefore, before reading the article it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

living, even though it was composed hundreds of years ago. Where did the Old Testamentcome
from? What are some of the influences that shaped the Old Testament? What are the significant
events of the Old Testament? In order to gain a better understanding of the Old Testament and its
message to Christians, special consideration is given to its historical and cultural context, and to the
major milestones in its development. Personal application of the teachings offered in this section of
the Bibleshould be the aspiration of all Christians today.
Cultural and Historical Context of the Old Testament An understanding of Israel s history and
geography is necessary for proper interpretation of the Old Testament. The Middle East provided
the setting for the events recorded in the Old Testament, specifically Mesopotamia, Egypt, and
Syria Palestine. This area lies along the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in Mesopotamia up to the
Persian Gulf. This area was the cradle of civilization and the scene of God s activities as recorded
in the Old Testament. The majority of the events take place in Palestine, the ancient land of Canaan,
though at times the Israelites lived in Egypt and Babylon. This is

in its first quarter alone, and sales have only continued to increase. BlackBerry has not released a
new version of the tablet since late 2012 and the unit was officially discontinued from sale in
2014. BlackBerry has always been strongest in their enterprise services sector. Even though
hardware sales have always greatly surpassed service revenue, the service portfolio was the
reason that most corporations signed on to the BlackBerry ecosystem. According to S P Capital

Have Smartphones Destroy A Generation Essay
Have Smartphones Destroyed a Generation Besides the cell phone, does technology really affect us
in our society? Today s generation of teenagers are using smartphones much of the time.
Researchers also found that many teenagers are using more smartphones. This constant use of
technology has had negative effects on today s youth. Constant use of technology by teenagers is
harmful because it causes depression and affects education Jean M. Twinge proved that showing

Smartphones have defined the characteristics of the millennials; this is why it has led to changes in
the society. The author has been researching the use of smartphones with this generation for 25
years and has found that this characteristic has come to define this generation. This generation has
been increasing since the baby boomer era that occurred after World War II, which started in 1939.
Twinge was interested in studying the millennial generation to find as much information as she
could. She explains that she found out that the excessive use of smartphones changes teen
behaviors and emotional states. She also showed us her analyses data to show us the differences.
She explains there is a big difference between the millennials and the predecessors like the way
they view the world. It is not about only their behavior they had that was the difference but also
how they spent their time. In 2012, Americans

Essay On Michael Faraday
Research Paper Draft An expression states, Curiosity killed the cat. In the case of science, curiosity
has helped figure out what exactly makes the world go around the sun and many other things that
we could not live without knowing. Curiosity sparks an interest and is the reason for flying a kite
in the middle of a lightning storm, it is the reason we have cars, computers and other machines.
Throughout history, there are many famous scientists and chemists that have helped explain, and
shape the world we live in, Michael Faradayis one of those people. He caused a big impact on the
world through his beliefs, discoveries, and contributions to the scientific world.

In 1812, a customer gave Faraday some tickets to hear some lectures at the Royal Institution. He got
the chance to listen to four of Humphry Davy s (one of the most famous chemist of that time)
lectures. Michael loved every moment of the lectures and was later, offered a job as a chemical
assistant at the institution.
Faraday got the chance to do experiments for the Royal Institution as well as creating some of his
own. He gave his first lecture ever in 1816 on the properties of matter and published his first
academic paper on the analysis of calcium hydroxide. In 1820, Michael submitted two papers to the
Royal Institution. The first was about magnets and their electric current; he found that magnets
exert a force on a wire carrying electric current. The second paper was on how to liquefy chlorine
and isolate benzene, which has become a fundamental component of organic chemistry. In 1821, he
was promoted to be the Superintendent of House and Laboratory of the Royal Institution and
published his work on electromagnetic rotation, which contributed to the electric motor in the
future. He found that liquid mercury was a good conductor of electricity and metal wires in the
mercury will continue to rotate around a central magnet as long as there is an electric current
flowing through the circuit. He found that a wire carrying electric

Environmental Issues Of Environmental Justice
Environmental justice is a term coined in the United States that usually deals with two different
things. One is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color,
national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of
environmental laws, regulations, and policies. The other is a mixed body of social science
literature pertaining to anything from environmental laws to political ecology. Primarily based
around the concept of injustices carried out by energy companies, environmental injustice is still a
rampant problem in todays wide variety of social justiceissues. While the prior two meanings

These are seen as environmental discrimination because the companies are placing possibly toxic
facilities in these specific areas where the residents do not often have the means to fight back
against them.
Due to the results of that study, waste dumps and waste incinerators have been the target of
environmental justice lawsuits and protests. Several of the most popular Environmental Justice
lawsuits are based off of violations of civil rights laws. The first instance to use civil rights as a
way to challenge the placement of a waste management facility was in 1979.
The Northeast Community Action Group, or NECAG, was created by African American residents
in a middle class neighborhood in order to keep a landfill out of their home town. This group is
recognized as the first organization that found the connection between race and pollution. The
group, alongside their attorney Linda McKeever Bullard started the lawsuit Bean v. Southwestern
Waste Management, Inc., which was the first of its kind to challenge the sitting of a waste facility
under civil rights law. The Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, which was used
many times to defend minority rights during the 1960s, has also been used in numerous
Environmental Justice cases.
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is sometimes used in lawsuits that are fighting
environmental inequality. Section 601 prohibits

Altissimo Range Research Paper
The altissimo range is something many saxophonists keep tinkering with even after years of
playing. It s among the biggest frustration points of any new sax player and the reason many feel
like giving up.
But before you pack your saxophone permanently to its box, try the following tips. While
mastering the altissimo range will never be easy, it is possible and you will get there!
Lay a Solid Foundation
Don t venture into the world of the altissimo range before you are able to play the entire range
with proper volume control. You want to play the entire range both very softly and very loud.
Make sure you also include proper ear training to your playing. You need to be able to hear the
different notes and the variations. Listen to sax music regularly to improve your skills.

Start from the easier once such as the low Bb and the middle Bb and move on to middle F, high
Bb, D and F. Keep practicing until you feel comfortable.
You might need to focus on your embouchure while you play, so make sure you try different things
to see what makes it easier to hit the right notes. Altissimo range requires great control of the
embouchure, so pay attention to it.
Experiment with Fingerings
There is no ultimate truth to fingerings for altissimo notes. It is possible to play them with very
different fingerings and you want to try out different options in order to find the one that works the
best.
You can find different fingering charts online. If the first one doesn t feel comfortable, move onto
the next one pick the one that feels the most natural to you.
One Note at a Time
Don t try to master the whole altissimo range at once. It s much easier to take it step by step and
focus on a single note at a time.
Most often the quest start with the high G. But wait? Isn t the F# the first altissimo note? Yes, but
it s not as difficult to get and most modern saxophones have a special F# key already in

Character Analysis Of Nora Helmer In A Doll s House
Character Analysis of Nora Helmer in A Doll s House Imagine a world where Susan B. Anthony
did not right for a woman s right to vote or Katharine Hepburn did not defy Hollywood s ideal
view of the traditional female movie star. Women have not always been given such a voice or
granted such a place in marriage and society as they have today. In large part, the level of equality

the nineteenth century. One such writer being Henrik Isben who, in 1879, wrote his play A Doll s
House. A Doll s House centers around the character of Nora Helmer, wife to a wealthy, domineering
husband, Torvald. As a nineteenth century wife, Nora was conflicted throughout the play with the
male chauvinistic view of a womans role in marriage and society and her own aspirations of self
identity. In Act I of A Doll s House, Isben introduced Nora to the audience through the viewpoint
of how society thought of women during that time childlike, uneducated, dependent, and
submissive. The first act of the play starts off when Nora had returned home from Christmas
shopping, and Torvald was in the study. Singing and giddy, Nora was excited for the Christmas
festivities ahead for her husband and children. She snuck macaroons from her pocket and ate them
quickly and secretively, like a child sneaking a cookie before dinner. Nora asked Torvald to come

The Death Penalty Debate Essay
The Death Penalty Debate
The issue of the death penalty is widely disputed. So disputed that maybe I shouldn t have picked
this topic. But nevertheless, the death penalty is an issue that needs to be addressed. Should the
death penalty be abolished from our criminal justice system? Well, that depends on whom you ask.
If you ask me... no. I personally don t see anything wrong with the death penalty because there are a
lot of criminals that are just too dangerous to society and death is the only punishment they deserve.
I know that it is in the eighth amendment that prohibits cruel and unusual punishment, and I can t

Death penalty advocates argue that the execution of convicted murderers deter others from

rationally weigh the possibility that they might face the death penalty before committing a murder.
Finally, death penalty opponents do not dispute that execution incapacitates executed murders, but
argue that life imprisonment without possibility of parole is equally incapacitating. (Jacob Sullum,

Mrs Dalloway Isolation Essay
Isolation is one of the major themes in the novel Mrs. Dalloway by British novelist Virginia

The problem of social marketing is prevalent in developed countries where government and

depend on individual and parental choices. Children start their consumer journey during their first
years of existence which make them to definitely deserve immense concern as consumers during
this period. Studies show that child marketing of today cannot be compared with that of the past

Shakespeare uses the actions of Brutus in order to demonstrate the immorality of taking patriotic

is found when he claims to Brutus that the noble Romans wished for Brutus to defeat Caesar,
and take his power for the good of Rome. He claims that [He has] heard, / Where many of the
best respect in Rome / Except immortal Caesar, speaking of Brutus / And groaning underneath
this age s yoke, / Have wish d that noble Brutus had his eyes (1.2.58 62). Cassius then begins his
greatest deception, through faking letters from the people of Rome, convincing Brutus that
murdering Caesar was best for Rome. Cassius describes how he will ... in at his windows throw,
/ As if they came from several citizens, / Writings all tending to the great opinion / That Rome
holds of his name; wherein obscurely / Caesar s ambition should be glanced at (1.2.315 319).
Cassius convinced Brutus, using his view that patriotism was a more important moral ideal than
any other, to murder Caesar due to the falsified views of the people. In this way, Brutus was
swayed by his patriotism in order to commit an immoral deed, that of killing his friend, Caesar.

Analysis Of Into The Wild By Christopher Krakauer
A biography is a work written about another person s life. A standard biography only discusses the
life of a single person. Krakauer s biography, Into the Wild, retains the standard convention of
describing the life story of the main person, but also include accounts of other people including
himself and slight difference on how he wrote the biography to justify Chris s choices.
Krakauer focuses his book on Christopher McCandless just like any other biography. Krakauer
tells the story of how Chris made his way and became ready for his time in Alaska to carry out his
dream. Unlike most biographies, rather than starting at the beginning of Chris s life, Krakauer
chose to start with the end. Krakauer begins with the last known events of what happened to Chris
s life. By starting with Chris s death, Krakauer adds an air of mystery that intrigues the reader. In
interesting the reader, Krakauer gets the reader to read the rest of the book to find out more of what
happened. This gives Krakauer the opportunity to defend Chris. Also, in a conventional biography,
the author tries to remain unbiased and tells what happened without trying to convince the reader
about something. In Into the Wild, Krakauer himself admits that is very biased and sympathizes
with Chris in the author s note. This means that Krakauer actively tries to convince the reader of
something about Chris and make them understand.
Krakauer diverges from standard conventions with the story Everett Ruess.

Effects of Temperature on Cell Membranes
Investigating the effect of temperature on plant cell membranes
The purpose of this activity is:
to practise experimental and investigative skills to investigate the effect of temperature on cell
membrane structures
Procedure
SAFETY: Always carry scalpels clasped to a tile and with the tip pointing away from you.
Beetroot cells contain pigments called betalains that give the tissue its dark purple red colour. The
pigment is contained in the cell vacuole.
Investigation
a. Collect 3 or 4 beetroot cores from the beaker provided. Cut each core into 2 cm sections until
you have enough for one core for each temperature of water bath that you will be using. Put your 2

size of the beetroot cores (their surface area and volume), the advance treatment of the beetroot

Pew Charitable Trust Report
According to a Pew Charitable Trust report, more than half of Americans have less than one
month of income saved in case of emergency. This is in direct contradiction to the advice given
by most financial experts to have at least three to six months living expenses on hand for
unexpected situations, such as a job loss. It is interesting to note that all levels of income had the
same lack of savings; therefore, it is not necessarily a problem with the amount of income, but
instead with an inability to save. So, in order to get the nation where it should be in terms of
savings, there should be a great emphasis on educating the average American on how to go about
creating a savings. Make an Effort: There is an old adage that says that if someone

The Dimenon Of The Parthenon
The Parthenon The Parthenon in Athens, Greece, is a giant, architectural temple dedicated to the
goddess, Athena. Likewise, the Parthenon in modern Nashville, Tennessee, is an honorary replica
of the ancient monument. Many historians say it is an exact replica. Without a doubt, it is the
closest most people will ever come to experiencing the greatest temple of ancient Greece. A visit to
the Parthenonin Athenswould have been an immense pleasure; however, the replica in Nashville is
adequately breathtaking. The enormous columns, the carvings along the top, the giant statue
within, and the larger than life bronze doors make this monument something to remember. The
Parthenon and its sculptures continue to live on through the replica in Nashville, Tennessee. The
Parthenon is easily mentioned as one of the oldest monuments in the world. Originally, the
Parthenon was completed in 438 B.C. It is strategically placed atop the Acropolis in Athens,
Greece. The Acropolis simply means high city in ancient Greece (Cole, 39). It is higher in
elevation than all the other land below it, and where Greece s most sacred temples were built.
Also, it was built in such a way that when viewed from afar, you can see the entire building. The
purpose of the enormous building was to be a temple dedicated to the goddess, Athena. According
to Karl Cole, the Acropolis in Athens was the battleground of a fight between Athena and Poseidon,
with reward being assuming the role of the protector of Athens

At the time the law was passed, it was estimated that women were earning 59% of the average wage
(Giraffe, 2011). In 2011 the estimate had risen to 82% ratio of pay for women compared to men.
Lower pay scales for women means lower retirement benefits, pension pay, and 401k`s. The low
pay scales were insulting enough to the female gender but deeper issued existed such as the
flexibility needed to care for children, home, and personal healthcare.
Structural and Social Concerns Surrounding Women in the Workforce Women are typically the
nurturers in the home. Mother`s have been responsible for childcare, PTA, grade mothers, and
sports moms for many generations before males began filling the roles because females were
working outside the homes. Although it is not uncommon in todays society to see dad`s stay at

25 years. The National Organization for Women, 2012, reports that, Different societal expectations

Without sound, the gangster films could not come to life. It was the 1930s that the events of the
prohibition era such as bootlegging and the St. Valentines Day Massacre of 1929, and the existence
of real life gangsters and the rise of contemporary organized crime helped to encourage this
genre. The talkies are accounted for the rise of crime films. The first talkie 100% all talking

Martin Sorcese, Brian De Palma, and Francis Ford Coppolla, who also directed the Godfather,

gangster films are moralities tales and success stories turned around in which criminals are the

possible death, criminals are portraying as the victims because the stories are told from their point
of view. Great actors like Pacino, Deniro, who both played in the Godfather and Pesci also had an
influence in making the gangster/mafia culture what it is today, by playing their parts so
unbelievable well that their attitude, dialogue, and cold hearted cruelty on the screen transforms the

Router
A router is a network device that routes packets to networks other than its own. Routers are almost
like a bridge between networks. Most home use routers to connect their local network (their LAN)
to the Internet (which is a wide area network) with all in one devices with routers, modems and
wireless access points built in.
Routers decide where the best route to a destination is using a file called the routing table , which
has a list of different ways to get to one direction, quantified by the metric, which determines the
distance of the path to travel so the router can efficiently pick the best path to use.

Expenses / Cost
The set up of a wireless network will generally rely on the cost of wireless routers, wireless network
adapters for every device, wireless access points (WAP) spread across the locations and installation
fees. This works out to be more expensive than a wired network.
Relatively cheaper but can be costly depending on the type of wired connections used and
installation fees. However, Ethernet, copper cables and switches are less expensive as opposed to
the features required for a wireless network. Fibre optic cables can be a lot more expensive, but
the price of installation and cable vary based on needs, area of installation and metre coverage.
Installation
Installation of wireless networks are relatively easy they often simply involve playing a wireless
access point in a place where the signal reaches the most areas. In more advanced installations, it
is common to use a radio mapper to determine where the signal does and does not reach, for
practicality and security reasons. The power of the router is important to consider and often can be
adjusted on the software side to suit the

  • 2. Waste Land Brazil Art, Inequality and Dirty Work The really magical things are the ones that happen right in front of you. A lot of the time you keep looking for beauty, but it is already there. And if you look with a bit more intention, you see it. Vic Muniz Different films and documentaries about other cultures help expand our knowledge by introducing values, struggles, innovations and beliefs beyond our daily experience by encouraging us to explore values that a different from our own. The acclaimed documentary Waste Land produced by Lucy Walker transports viewers to Jardim Gramacho, a large landfill site located on the outskirts of Rio De Janiero, Brazil. The documentary follows Brazilian born artist Vik Muniz as he searches for an answer to the question ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All waste that Brazilians throw out is sorted and categorised by the hardworking Catadores, as TiГ o a character in the film says we are not pickers, of garbage we are pickers of recyclable materials. Garbage can t be reused, whereas recycle material can. . The Catadores wear uniforms that symbolise an organised group, which prevent recyclable materials from ending up in the landfill so they can protect the wasted resources that have good use from the rich and middle class people in Brazil. Materials collected by the pickers are then used to recreate useful objects such as furniture and as seen in the film the materials can be used through Art. Another example from the documentary that conveys the idea of sustainability is through the character named Irma. Irma is an elderly lady who makes use of all food that is found in the landfill. She provides the Catadors with Juice, Coffee and provides food for everyone. In the film, Irma quotes I never let anyone go hungry . She makes use of everything even the expired food that is found in the wasteland which is still cooked and eaten ensuring that all waste and resources are used. Comparing these values to Australians, Australians value the resources we also have such as food, water, shelter, clothing and our wide useful range of available materials. The Australian population has different ideas about sustainability but only a sample ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Pensacola Harbor The naval side of the civil war in Florida all started with the Pensacola harbor. There was a navy yard and three forts guarding the harbor, including Fort Barrancas, Fort McRee, and Fort Pickins. On January 8, 1861, Florida Governor Madison S. Perry authorized Colonel Chase to seizing the forts at Pensacola. On the Fort Barrancas, 1st Lieutenant Adam J. Slemmer was an officer from Montgomery County, Pennsylvania during the Seminole Wars and the American Civil War . He heard rumors that the Florida Militia was planning on seizing the Navy Yard, the barracks and the forts in the Pensacola areas. With Slemmer not wanting to enter the union he moved gunpowder and other materials to Fort Pickens, which he thought, would be the safest port to fight from. On January 10, 1861, Florida seceded from the U.S. being the third state to secede. On January 15 and January 18 Slemmer refused demands for surrender from Colonel William Henry Chase who designed and constructed Fort Pickens. Fort Pickens was thought to be the first war of the civil war but it took a long time for it to happen. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Research Methodology And The Execution Of Slr 2.Research Method This section provides an overview research method i.e. systematic literature review (SLR) used in thesis research; it describes the research methodology, the design and the execution of SLR. 2.1 Overview of Systematic Literature Review This section of chapter was to thoroughly define and go through systematic literature review research method. 2.1.1 Definition Kitchenham and Charters (2007) proposed that systematic literature review has been a widespread research methodology since 1990s, but it was initiated by medical research where number of well documented standards has evidently showed its use. While, since the year 2004, systematic reviews are also performed by many software engineering researchers and number of important engineering conferences also seek submissions in this research category. In addition to this many popular journals and magazines have distinct section for papers, which are also based on this research methodology. (Kitchenham Charters, 2007) According to Kitchenham, A systematic literature review (often referred to as a systematic review) is a means of identifying, evaluating and interpreting all available research relevant to a particular research question, or topic area, or phenomenon of interest (p.8). The fundamental study of the systematic literature review is known as primary studies, and the systematic literature itself is known as a form of secondary study. 2.1.2 Adopting the Systematic Literature Review There ... • 5. Gabriel Conroy Character Analysis Gabriel Conroy is a book reviewer, a teacher at a university and a writer; he is very well educated. It is his high level of education which prevents him from opening in the crowd soon. He also very easily feels out of place because of his high class literary endeavors. He tends to give a lot of thought into whatever he is doing which also focusses another aspect of his personality i.e. self doubt. We can clearly see he is self deceived as he shuffles to go into the circle of his own egotism while rationalizing with his self scrutiny. Stephen also explicitly makes clear his artistic bias being influenced by his self scrutiny. He, through the process of self examination tends to make them have a control over themselves while avoiding their ego. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... when he was around 3). As the title suggests, we see the portrait of Stephen coming into view as we read on while The Dead only describes a night in Gabriel s life. Stephen s second name has a lot to do with the kind of artist he wishes to become or already is. He moves above and over the labyrinth that traps him, i.e. the labyrinth of social boundaries and politics. He is also very knowledgeable in aesthetics and can see things creatively i.e. like a true artist since a very early age. This paints a bold picture of him being the artist and it gets detailed as he grows up showing intelligible aesthetic tastes. Gabriel Conroy on the other hand is not so boldly described as an artist although he does struggle from the fear of being one. For instance, He was undecided about the lines from Robert Browning for he feared they would be above the heads of his hearers ...That their grade of culture differed from his (179). • 6. Summary Of Are We Too Casual About Nuclear Arms Threat By... Are we too casual about nuclear arms threat? by John M. Crisp. The genre is an editorial (January 3,2017). Crisp shows that people are too nonchalant about nuclear weapons and their dangerous effects because of their daily lives and work which do not allow for them to worry about these threats through the use of rhetorical appeals. The earth already suffers from the climate change, yet the American people still ignore the history of what happened to Hiroshima and Nagasaki and all the damages U.S inflicted. Countries yet race to develop plentiful nuclear weapons that are having conflict with other countries. • 7. The Importance Of Music In My Life While most other people listen to music they often use the phrases This song is my life., This song perfectly describes ME. Unfortunately, I am unable to use any of those phrases. I have always had a hard time finding one song that perfectly fit all the distant corners of my personality, or the situations I have had to endure. I have had to settle with finding songs that could fit in the playlist called my life. My life has been one of the most intense rides ever to be ridden in history. Music has helped me during the times I confronted my biological father about all of my feelings. It has helped me learn how to not dwell on feelingguilty for expressing how I actually feel. Music has taught me to embrace my insecurities, and it has guided me in discovering what I want to do with my career. Finally, music has helped me love myself for what I truly am and nothing that I am not. Music is a powerful force that cannot only influence other people s attitude, but it also can contribute to their actions. Other people find serenity in art, jogging, or even MMA fighting, but music is my therapy. The one song that has made a huge impact on my playlist would have to be Praying, by Kesha. In her music video, she starts with a monologue that hit me on a personal level that has been something that I live by during my everyday life. It goes, Am I dead or is this one of those dreams that seems like it goes on forever. If I am alive; Why? If there is a god or whatever, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Symptoms And Treatment Of Health The definition of health describes the way we feel physically, mentally and socially and being free from any illness or injury. Health is not an easy term to define as for some people it includes mental health and for others it just involves physical health and these two are very different. The term Illness refers to the way in which disease is experienced. Characteristics of a person with good health include a working immune system, good complexion, high energy, good communication, positive mood and mental state. Poor health will be basically the opposite, with being unwell frequently, mental illness, weight issues, poor complexion or substance abuse. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1.2 Health and mental health is not just defined within the medical context, it can also be defined by the person and the persons family and social networks. This is one of the main reasons the terms are hard to define as the definitions may vary from culture to culture. The three main categories are physical appearance, emotional disposition and behaviour. Some people believe that there are no symptoms then there is no disease. Other cultures believe that physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing are the three most important things for good health. Sociologists think that a society depends on health people and being able to control illness. A man named Talcott Parsons identified what he called the sick role. He meant to describe the behaviour towards the sick person and the behaviour of the sick person. Parsons identified four roles of the sick role: Not held responsible for being sick Not responsible for normal duties Not supposed to like the role Supposed to seek help to get out of the role In a society, people who are acting sick will get sympathy. If people do not act sick or ask for any help they will lose the sympathy they were getting. Some people believe that you can only determine whether you are ill or not by science. A good example is some people only class diseases as legitimate if they have a common scientific diagnosis such as cancer or heart disease. Through our means of entertainment, it is almost a guide in how one should live their life. With the technology we have in our world we are persuaded to believe what is right and what is wrong. Although we create our own world, our thoughts were imposed upon us since the day we are born. What if the world is some kind of show. Women in magazines are usually tall, extremely thin, and their faces are covered in makeup. Women can easily develop insecurities in the way they look and feel about themselves because of magazines. Women choose to read certain magazines according to their interests. However, their interests are usually congruent with those of the majority of women or they wouldn t be reading that particular magazine and those magazines wouldn t stay in business. On the flip side of the sex factor, influences from magazines such as For Him magazine and Maxim weigh heavily on many men s self security. These magazines teach men not only how they should look but also how they should view things. An example of this is a macho, semi sexist, tough guy, bull headed, over confident attitude. These magazines define for men the writer s essence of a real man. Men as a whole atone themselves to such lifestyles probably out of fear of not living by these structures. Although magazines have a strong influence on the masses they are by no means the most influential medium there is. This brings me to television programming and how it impacts out lives. Television is hands down the most influential form of media we have. Hundreds of millions of people sit down each day to plug themselves into their favorite sitcom or program. • 11. Native Civilizations And The United States As I was sitting in a classroom learning about world history, I wondered how the ancient civilizations responded to the immigration challenges that they had to face. Since the early civilizations, people have immigrated from place to place to find a better life for their families. The bad situations they live in obligated them to leave their houses and immigrated to unknown places. Even today thousands of people immigrate to another country looking for a better life. For example, throughout the American history millions of people around the world have left their homelands for a chance to start a new life in the United States. In the stories, Changing America 2001, Letters from an American farmer, the Art of Happiness, and Silent Dancing, we can see the most common problem that immigrants face in this country, finding their identity. As an immigrant, I personally have experienced some of the challenges that the immigrants in these stories share. I have gone through the process of adjusting to living in a country where another language is spoken and has a different culture. As humans, we start developing our identity since we are children. The living situations that we face have a big impact in defining who we are. The story Silent Dancing is an example of how culture shapes us in who we are. Culture refers to the characteristics of a particular group of people, including their language, cuisine, social habits, religion, music, and arts. It is a people s way of life. ... • 12. The Epic Of Gilgamesh And Gilgamesh In the Epic of Gilgamesh there are many notable relationships but the relationship between Gilgamesh and Enkidu is hands down the most noteworthy. When analyzing the relationship of Gilgamesh and Enkidu there are many factors that go into play. It is really the sole foundation of the whole Sumerian epic and it really changes the whole personality of Gilgamesh. In order to get a better understanding of how the two characters complement each other we have to first break down their individual appearances and characteristics. After that is made clear then it is more appropriate to begin to analyze their relationship which in time turns out to be a relationship for the ages. Gilgamesh like many other mythological heroes was fortunate enough to be made up of two parts, part man and part god. Of all of the men in his land he was the greatest and before he met Enkidu he used that to his advantage in both positive and negative ways. He was the most ferocious warrior and the most creative architect they had ever seen. Before the arrival of his better half, Gilgamesh used to force hard labor upon his people, rape his women, and selfishly indulge his appetite. With that being said you can pretty see with a clear eye view that before Enkidu s arrival, Gilgamesh was not that easy to like. Enkidu on the other hand is described as being a hairy chested and brawny man. He was made from clay by Aruru, who is the goddess of creation. He was indeed created to take away all of the arrogance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Sports And Exercise Psychology Myths Sport and Exercise Psychology Myths Timothy R. Horn Emporia State University Myths are commonly taken as fact when it comes to many of these areas of sport psychology. Coaches, teachers, and athletes will never change unless they inspect or are taught the facts and research behind these various theories and behaviors. This can be a large problem for those athletes who are instructed incorrectly, and it could potentially damage their futures in athletic competitions. Myth #1: Personality traits alone account for behavior in sports and exercise. (Personality) Researchers since the 1960 s and 1970 s have inspected personality behaviors and had no success in pinning personalities to a certain sport. For example, successful middle linebackers in football tend to have aggressive personalities, but other successful linebackers may not have that same personality quality. (Weinburg and Gould, 40). Correlating personalities to define athletes is no easy task because there are too many variables to consider. However, there was a study done many years ago in 1977, by Schurr, Ashley and Joy, that depicted significant results regarding influence on choice and sports performance. The intricate design all over the floor gave a very futuristic feel, as well as the appliances over where the kitchen area was. One of the most impressive aspects of the set was the fact that the sink had running water. Everything on the set looked futuristic and new, that is, except for Majorie s chair at the beginning of the show, it represented how Majorie stuck out in this new era, and how she longed for things the way they were when she was young, and it brought great symbolism into the show. The costumes, designed by Inda Blatch Geib, were a wonderful addition to the show as well. With this play being set in the future, it would be very easy to go over the top with costumes and put each of the characters in absurd clothing that is extreme. • 18. Liberalism Vs. Realism Essay Liberalism vs. Realism In a world where the drive for power and the will to dominate are held to be fundamental aspects of human nature as the Classical Realists would argue, the necessity for International Organizations cannot be dismissed as some liberalists argue. According to Iriye 2002, IGO s consists of institutions that come into existence through formal agreements among nations and represent their corresponding governments (Iriye 2002, Pg. 12 14). With that in mind, some liberalists argue that joining international organizations and institutions like the United Nations socializes some leaders so that their motivations are more benign (Dunne 2011, Pg. 103). I am convinced to a certain extent with this idea as I feel that even though classical realists argue that every man has within him the desire to rule or the desire for power (Dunne and Schmidt 2011, Pg. 90). When several leaders come together all from different IR theoretical backgrounds (liberalists, realists, constructivists) each decision they make comes collectively thus not leaving too much room for their individual biases based on their theoretical perspectives to impact important international relations issues negatively . Although I highly doubt if anything can be done to control the human desire for power accumulation as a classical realist would say, a part of the psyche of man, I do believe the liberalists argument to be of substance. Because IGO s result in socialization, they also create a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In large part, the level of equality men and women share in the present timeis due to the bold and brave feminist literature writers of the nineteenth century. One such writer being Henrik Isben who, in 1879, wrote his play A Doll s House. A Doll s House centers around the character of Nora Helmer, wife to a wealthy, domineering husband, Torvald. As a nineteenth century wife, Nora was conflicted throughout the play with the male chauvinistic view of a womans role in marriage and society and her own aspirations of self identity. In Act I of A Doll s House, Isben introduced Nora to the audience through the viewpoint of how society thought of women during that time childlike, uneducated, dependent, and submissive. In Julius Caesar, Shakespeare uses the actions of Brutus in order to demonstrate the immorality of taking patriotic duty to be an absolute duty. Cassius wants Caesar killed, for less noble reasons, and is willing to use deception and manipulation to obtain his goal. Brutus sense of duty and patriotism provides him with the opportunity to get Brutus to act as Cassius wishes him to. One example of Cassius manipulation is found when he claims to Brutus that the noble Romans wished for Brutus to defeat Caesar, and take his power for the good of Rome. He claims that [He has] heard, / Where many of the best respect in Rome / Except immortal Caesar, speaking of Brutus / And groaning underneath this age s yoke, / Have wish d that noble Brutus had his eyes (1.2.58 62). Krakauer s biography, Into the Wild, retains the standard convention of describing the life story of the main person, but also include accounts of other people including himself and slight difference on how he wrote the biography to justify Chris s choices. Krakauer focuses his book on Christopher McCandless just like any other biography. Krakauer tells the story of how Chris made his way and became ready for his time in Alaska to carry out his dream. Unlike most biographies, rather than starting at the beginning of Chris s life, Krakauer chose to start with the end. Krakauer begins with the last known events of what happened to Chris s life. By starting with Chris s death, Krakauer adds an air of mystery that intrigues the reader. In interesting the reader, Krakauer gets the reader to read the rest of the book to find out more of what happened. This gives Krakauer the opportunity to defend Chris. Also, in a conventional biography, the author tries to remain unbiased and tells what happened without trying to convince the reader about something. In Into the Wild, Krakauer himself admits that is very biased and sympathizes with Chris in the author s note. Unit 3 Computer Networks P1 Assignment 1 Task 1 (P1, P3, P5 and M1) P1 Computer Networks Different Types of Communication Devices Devices Router A router is a network device that routes packets to networks other than its own. Routers are almost like a bridge between networks. Most home use routers to connect their local network (their LAN) to the Internet (which is a wide area network) with all in one devices with routers, modems and wireless access points built in. Routers decide where the best route to a destination is using a file called the routing table , which has a list of different ways to get to one direction, quantified by the metric, which determines the distance of the path to travel so the router can efficiently pick the best path to use. Expenses / Cost The set up of a wireless network will generally rely on the cost of wireless routers, wireless network adapters for every device, wireless access points (WAP) spread across the locations and installation fees. This works out to be more expensive than a wired network. Relatively cheaper but can be costly depending on the type of wired connections used and installation fees. However, Ethernet, copper cables and switches are less expensive as opposed to the features required for a wireless network. Fibre optic cables can be a lot more expensive, but the price of installation and cable vary based on needs, area of installation and metre coverage. Installation Installation of wireless networks are relatively easy they often simply involve playing a wireless access point in a place where the signal reaches the most areas. In more advanced installations, it is common to use a radio mapper to determine where the signal does and does not reach, for practicality and security reasons. The power of the router is important to consider and often can be adjusted on the software side to suit the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
