Reflection On Anthem By Ayn Rand
While reading this book I was deeply concerned with the totalitarian government they had in place. It
reminded me a lot of the book Anthem by Ayn Rand where they also lived in a very oppressive
government but to the point that they were not allowed to say the word I and they were all given their
job in society. Throughout the whole novel, I questioned how Mae was okay with working for The
Circle. I would never be okay with wearing anything that made me fully transparent to anyone and let
them see what I was doing at all times. I would not really care if there were SeeChange cameras up
around Auburn because I think they could maybe make campus even safer. We already have traffic
cameras in place that you can view on the internet whenever you

Content Management Systems
Content management system is a procedural system that determines how work flows in any given
work environment. With reference to the web environment, content management system may be
limited to the creation, control, storage and deployment of individual contents on a given web page.
Content management system is differentiated from static pages through a number of ways. Ultimately,
whereas content management system should enable a manipulative approach towards the use of the
web pages in question, static pages give web users no manipulative option of altering the content of
the page. Rather, users act as passive beneficiaries who receive the information on the web pages just
as they have been stored. This means that given a number of users ... Show more content on

Finally, there should be a conscious effort to generate traffic through prudent ways of attracting people
to the website. It is advised that Users can create surveys and polls to find out what their visitors like
(Smith, 2010).
Recent survey conducted among content management system users have pointed to the cost of content
management system software as being too expensive. This means that there is a hindrance to getting
the very best of quality if one is not ready to spend more (The Information Architecture Institute,
2003). There is also the problem of migrating old content to a new and updated content. This means
that the actual process of managing content to benefit from the full usefulness of content management
system is a great obstacle to some users. Even more, the problem of protection of URL paths exists.
This creates insecurity and creates volatility on the path. Finally, content management system has a
number of limitations to the problems it can solve itself. This is like saying that research on the
functions of CMS is still not complete. Some of the problems that CMS is said not to be in a position
to solve include lack of editorial control, bad copywriting, bloated websites and single language
content (Boag, 2010).
Clearly, not all websites use CMS the same way. Whereas some use CMS in a relatively productive
and good way, others use them distastefully. A website that can be said to use CMS distastefully may
be one that allows

Vitamin D Deficiency
Background: Vitamin D deficiency is widely prevalent in the world. Several lines of evidence support
a relation between seasonal variations in serum vitamin D and higher relapse rates in MS patients in
winter.
Objective: To examine whether levels of vitamin D are associated with multiple sclerosis relapse.
Methods: In this study 60 patients in relapse and 60 patients in remission matched controls were
included.
Results: patients in relapse had significantly lower 25(OH) D levels than 60 patients in remission
matched controls (p= 0.004), Vitamin D insufficiency ( 10 ng/ml) was significantly higher in patients
in relapse compared to those in remission (p= 0.03).
Conclusion: The results of our study indicated that an association between lower serum 25
hydroxyvitamin D levels and higher risk of relapse among people with multiple sclerosis (MS).
Keywords: Multiple sclerosis, 25 hydroxy vitamin D
Introduction Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a neuroinflammatory disorder of the CNS, that most common
affecting among young adults, particularly more prevalence in high latitude regions (1 4), and believed
to affect over 2 million people in the worldwide (5). Although the aetiology of MS remains unclear,
but the prevailing thought is that MS is triggered by both genetic and environmental factors and their
interactions have been implicated in developing MS (6). Vitamin D is a steroid vitamin that acts like a
hormone and we get vitamin D from two sources: exposure to sunlight and food,

Essay about Root Surface Caries
Root Surface Caries
Caries can affect any surface of the teeth. The most commonly seen caries are found on the crown of a
tooth, above the cemento enamel junction, it is also possible for caries to form on the root surface,
below the cemento enamel junction. Dental root caries has received a great deal of attention in the past
few decades. A variety of different patients are at risk for root surface caries. Dentists use several
methods of treatment.
Root surface caries are also called cemental caries, cervical caries, or radicular caries. (Wilkins) Root
surface caries only involves the roots of teeth. The cementum and dentin located just below the crown
of the tooth is involved. No involvement of enamel is seen with root surface caries. ... Show more

This process is enhanced with the presence of gingival recession.(Hammel)
Clinically, root caries appears as a soft, irregularly shaped lesion, either totally confined to the root
surface or also involving the enamel at the cemento enamel junction. (Flaitz) It is more easily detected
on exposed root surfaces. It has been found that 10% to 20% of root caries lesions are found
subgingivally, especially at the interproximal region. The most common locations also include
exposed roots of the mandibular premolar and molar areas. On a dental radiograph, root surface caries
appears as a cupped out or crater shaped radiolucency just below the cemento enamel junction. Early
lesions may be difficult to detect on a dental radiograph.(Hassan)
Clinical description is very subjective and is based on color, texture, surface smoothness, depth of the
lesion, and distinctiveness of its border. Root caries can be classified as active or inactive. Active
lesions are leathery or soft, and inactive or arrested lesions are hard upon touch with an explorer. Root
caries can vary in color from black or dark brown to yellowish or light brown.(Wilkins)
Measures that can be taken to prevent root surface caries are just as one would perform to prevent
coronal caries. Oral hygiene is most important. Brush your teeth at least twice a day, preferably after
each meal. Floss your teeth regularly to remove food particles between your teeth that cannot be
removed by ordinary brushing. Because you

Special Effects and Scenes from The Day After Tomorrow
Some scenes in the movie The Day After Tomorrow were very plausible and likely to occur in real
life, while others were simply made from special effects and could most likely never occur in day to
day life.
One very possible scene was animals sensing the weather and being able to escape before a massive
storm was soon to hit. According to http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/can animals predict
disaster/tall tales or true/131/, Plenty of studies have shown that some animals can sense major
changes in the weather. Worms, for instance, are known to flee rising groundwater. Birds are known to
be sensitive to air pressure changes, and often hunker down before a big storm. And in Florida,
researchers studying tagged sharks say they flee to deeper water just before a big hurricane arrives.
They also may be sensing the air and water pressure changes caused by the big storm. Another
plausible scene in the movie is tornadoes being so powerful and strong that they can pick up cars and
throw them forcefully into the air. One example that backs up this statement is, In a scene straight out
of a blockbuster disaster movie, big rig trucks were tossed high into the air like toys when huge
tornadoes slammed into Dallas yesterday (April 3). The National Weather Service said today that the
damage in Texas, which included hundreds of homes, suggested one of the twisters was an EF2,
meaning the winds gusted between 111 and 135 mph (179 217 kph). Videos of the truck tossing

Indian Camp Hemingway Essay
Ernest Hemingway s iconic and historic life throughout multiple well rounded short stories helped
represent his life in his way that the reader can discover and understand. In the short story, Indian
Camp , Nick Adams and his father along with his Uncle George, go out into the forest to an indian
camp to help deliver birth of a child, Nick s curiosity throughout the storyline eventually turns into
silence of not wanting to see any type of tragedy again. Throughout the short stories that Ernest
Hemingway writes, he includes many pieces of research that involve racism, sexism and coming of
age. For example, in Hemingway s short story, Indian Camp, Hemingway refers Native Americans to
being described as half breeds which is a racial slur ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

described to be naggy and rude. Your mother wants you to come and see her. (103). Both quotes show

Physical Environment Of Football
The physical environment of an event can affect the way spectators view the activity that is being held
at an event. In this instance, the physical environment of a stadium can affect the way spectators view
the game of football. The overall stadium experience a spectator may have depends heavily on some
of the physical aspects of the stadium s environment. If the experience is positive, then the desire to
visit the stadium again will be more likely. If the overall experience is negative, then more than likely
the spectator will not return. In my research, I have found that The University of Alabama does a great
job at keeping their attendance up at their football games. While many people seem to have an overall
positive experience at the stadium, there are also some areas that could be improved. There are over
thirty seven thousand students that attend The University of Alabama. The college is well known for
its championship football team who reigns in the Southeastern conference of every year. You can
probably imagine the enormous population that is in attendance at each football game. Winning
championships is not the only thing that keeps the fans coming. The physical aspects of the stadium
are appealing enough to keep the fans coming as well. Alabama does a great job at maintaining
attendance, but because there are so many people I would suggest them opening up more space for
convenient parking. Almost every Saturday in the fall there are thousands of people racing to

Comparing Dantes Inferno And Chaucer s Canterbury Tales
Dante s Inferno and Chaucer s Canterbury Tales are both tremendously significant literary works that
are still relevant to this present day. Dante s Inferno depicts one pilgrim being led into the depths of
Hell at the hands of a guide named Virgil. As the two descend into Hell, it becomes apparent that
Dante has strong religious opinions that influence his placement of several individuals into the various
levels of Hell. One thing he makes obvious in his works is that hypocrisy and fraudulence are
revolting characteristics. This piece of literature has the tone of darkness and warnings. Because Dante
was exiled from his native country of Florence by people who possessed these characteristics, it only
seems fair that these people have their own special places in Hell. Chaucer s Canterbury Tales,
however, tells many pilgrim s tales as a means to pass time during their voyage to Canterbury. The tale
has a lighter tone to it, yet still has some of the same views and convictions as Dante s; such as the
disapproval of hypocrites and the drawing attention to fraudulent religious figures. Chaucer s tale has
a slightly more entertaining means of delivering a message while ... Show more content on

in cash and $17 billion in debt. This acquisition will make AT T as a unique competitor with un

When two companies offer the similar or compatible products or services in the same market and

3. Although it is very complicated task to integrate the both companies successfully under one
umbrella. But AT T has previous merger experience which can lead to successful integration of the
companies.
4. I think there will be no market concentration occurred as a result of this merger/acquisition.
Because due to this acquisition the monopoly of the other giant company in this business will be
reduced. This will lead to increase the price competition.

HUMAN BEINGS ROLE IN RELATION TO THE ENVIRONMENT
Introduction
The environment can be described as all those elements, both the living and the non living that
surrounds us. The environment can also refer to the condition within which individuals, animals and
plants lives. Mankind has a role to play in the environment, which mainly concerns taking care of the
environment as well as improving it. Since, we as human beings are different from animals as we have
a gift consciousness, we have an obligation of being improvers of the environment through ensuring
that we observe environmental consciousness and that we avoid all those practices that negatively
affects the environment and cause ecological crisis and problems. This essay will use the article
Towards a Buddhist Environmental Ethics by Rita M Gross to help in the answering of the question
What is our appropriate role in relation the environment? The essay will additionally look into the
concept of deep ecology by Bill Devall and George Sessions to get a deeper understanding of the
ecology and our relationship with it, a concept that will help us to be in a better position to answer our
appropriate role concerning the environment.
Human beings sometimes fail to understand the important role that the environment plays in ensuring
our survival and well being because they have little knowledge about the environment, which makes
them have less concern about it. The concept of deep ecology, which refers to a more

The Identity Of Native American Culture In Native America
Identity in Native America is directly associated with culture and language. As a result, some of the
issues today which are important in shaping the identity of modern Native Americans include:
representations of native people by the media in sports and popular culture; how indigenous languages
are being revitalized and maintained; and identity reclamation. The Native American lifestyle has
changed significantly during the last half of the 20th century and that is because views on the Native
people have drastically changed over time. They have had many hardships that have greatly impacted
their culture over the past few centuries leading up to today. During the first half of the 20th century
numerous changes went on in the native community. Life on the reservations was bleak and economic
opportunities were almost non existence. Many natives remained on the reservations where they were
able to maintain their language and culture (Otten, Dutton). However, some others left the reservations
for economic opportunities that the growing U.S economy promised and offered. Native Americans
who didn t live on the reservations chose to make as little reference as possible to their indigenous
roots, much like other ethnic groups that migrated into the U.S. That is because though most Native
Americans knew that the dominant culture would enjoy the indigenous dances and native jewelry and
pottery, etc, it was almost impossible to live a traditional native lifestyle. Several natives

Stereotypes In Family Guy

benefits, require no degree work to carry out, and are worked by minorities. While these perceptions
for the most part are true; the negative stigma attached to them is wrong as well as the assumption that
only minorities are the ones who work them. Another negative portrayal of Mexicans displayed by the
media is that Mexicans only work domestic jobs, but that is not the reality. In the show Family Guy

these jobs is low the assumption and stereotyping of all Mexicans assuming they work domestic jobs

Problems with motor vehicle burglary and theft in the border regions are quite different from the
problems experienced in other parts of the state. One example demonstrating this issue is that the
border area recovery rate for stolen vehicles is only 41% compared to the statewide rate of 73%. The
proximity to the border provides unique challenges. Because of static funding, many Texas border
counties are not served by an ABTPA Task Force.
Communities as thieves attempt to cross international bridges into Mexico and sell the vehicles for
economic profit. The high volume of traffic crossing the international border in both directions makes
it difficult to effectively monitor the various ports of entry to intercept stolen vehicles before they
leave the country. Also, expansive major and minor roadways in the border area provide ample

INTRODUCTION Over the past few years, project managers and project management has grown
tremendous growth. Project management has evolved over the past several years from an activity in an
organization to a discipline in its own right. Many professional bodies exist today to represent project
management as a discipline, some of which include, PMI and PM Bok. According to A Guide to the

The major role of the project manager or team is to lead all processes and participants of a given
project. In satisfying this role, the project manager or team has the difficult task of predicting project
schedules and budgets, including possible setbacks that may adversely impact them. Where setbacks
are encountered, the project manager or team should strive to compensate for these, to bring the
project within agreed requirements. For example, recent recipients of the Project of the Year Award in
2009 and 2010 demonstrated their ability to achieve project goals despite significant setbacks.
In 2009, the Newmont TS Power Plant Project faced challenges from a difficult economic landscape
in 2004 and an environment with unparalleled demand for technical resources and construction labor,
while operating in a remote location. The project management team adopted a risk management
approach and focused on high performance teamwork. The former approach, with risk management
and mitigation, is among core strategies advocated by the Project Management Institute. The latter
attribute, regarding the level of teamwork, was enhanced by adopting many team building sessions,
and by valuing a clear vision for the goals expected by all stakeholders in the project. Goals were
assessed on many aspects, including schedule, quality, safety, and sustainability. The Project of the
Year Award recipients described their project management strategy as Continuous Performance

Richard Branson s Leadership Style
Richard Branson is the founder of the conglomerate Virgin Group. He allowed Virgin to explode after
the beginnings. He started new ventures every second and incorporated almost every industry
conceivable into his company. His net worth is 5.2 Billion. Today, the Virgin brand is ranked second
among brands that have the greatest impact on consumer s lives. Virgin Group includes more than 400
companies worldwide and reaps over 24 Billion in annual revenue. It is involved in almost every
industry imaginable including planes, trains, finance, soft drinks, music, mobile phones, holidays,
cars, wine, publishing, and even bridal wear. Branson created a branded venture capital because most
of the investment comes from smaller companies or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No single venture is entered into blindly and the rewards are always measured out in relation to
potential risks.
4. Branding: Many people know the Virgin brand better than the names of the individual companies
within the group. This is the main reason Branson creates marketing hype by implementing extremely
provocative campaigns and it has worked to give the Virgin name immense recognition power around
the world.
5. Diversifying the company: Since Virgin sticks its hands into so many industries across the board, it
has a good chance of surviving even if the economy dips. For example, after the events of 9/11, airline
business suffered. However, the other ventures that Virgin stood for kept the company afloat.
6. Empowering talent: Virgin promotes almost entirely from within, so Branson takes this element
seriously. He gives his current employees seniority over outsiders and values their ideas and
experience at Virgin in working with new ventures. This is why he tends to put his current employees
on new projects.
7. Sense of community: Virgin Group entails hundreds of companies, but their relation is viewed as a
family and not a hierarchy. Virgin The company philosophy is that all of Virgin is a community with a
shared culture and value system.
8. Networking and Respect: Branson treats his friends,

Essay On EU Law
Whilst there has been contention to the definition of direct effects, it has generally been explained to
be a principle that bestows upon the individuals of the European Union (hereafter, the EU) Member
State, a right which flows from EU law. This conferring of right would enable an individual to invoke
the provision before the courts. An invention of the Court of Justice of the European Union (hereafter,
the CJEU) and first recognized in Van Gend en Loose , this principle, therefore, goes to the heart of
the supremacy of EU law. The question in Van Gend was whether Article 12 of the Treaty of Rome
allows individuals to enforce the rights against the State. In acknowledging that the European
Community was headed straight for a common ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The basis for this can be found in Article 288 of the Treaty of the Functioning of the European Union
(hereafter, the TFEU), which reiterates this notion.
The wording of Article 288 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (hereafter, the
TFEU) is crystal clear; Directives are addressed to Member States and would have to first be
transposed into national law within the given deadline. However, where the Directive in question can
fulfil the conditions in Van Gend and have expired , they may have a direct effect.
Nevertheless, this direct effect is restricted only to that of a horizontal nature. Marshall disallows
individuals from enforcing a Directive against a private body. Concerns were raised when there was a
call to allow Directives to be horizontally effective. One point of contention was the fact that Article
288 expressly mentions that Directives are binding upon Member States who were expressly
addressed.
Another argument raised was focused on the distinction between Regulations and Directives. The
transposition process for Directives is what differentiates the two. To take away this ability would be
to blur the demarcation between the two types of secondary EU law sources as they would both be
rendered directly applicable. Despite the criticisms, however, Marshall was affirmed in Dori a decade
later.
Yet, a problem stems from the refusal of having Directives be horizontally effective; claimants are
unable to rely

The Bangladesh Liberation War was a major event that left a huge, lasting effect on our world.
Starting on March 21, 1971 and lasting one month long, the war became a fight over power and
authority. The war affected Pakistan and India greatly. It was first triggered when East and West
Pakistan had issues. India became involved in the war when they decided to help East Pakistan. The
war affected a great number of people. Just like any war, The Bangladesh Liberation War had many
devastating tragedies. Although the tragedies were an obstacle, everything ended up working out for
the uprising of Bangladesh.
There were multiple causes of The Bangladesh Liberation War. These causes include the lack of
sharing power between East and West Pakistan, resources, language, and the Bhola Cyclone. Pakistan
was divided up into provinces. West Pakistan had four provinces that included Punjab, Sindh,
Balochistan, and the North West Frontier. East Pakistan was a province all on its own. Although the
majority of the population lived in East Pakistan, it seemed as if West Pakistan had complete control
over East Pakistan. East Pakistan had little to no political power. Resources was also a cause of the
war. Since West Pakistan had complete control over East Pakistan, they used more resources than the
east did. Between the years of 1948 and 1960, 70% of all of Pakistan s exports were made by East
Pakistan. Sadly, East Pakistan only received 25% of the imported money because West Pakistan was

The Origin Of Transatlantic Accents In The English Language
Transatlantic accent had a strong resemblance to musical type of speaking compared to details that
accompany the world s many leading phonetics that come from a sustained form of education. The
fact that transatlantic accent was mainly spoken by the affluent people in the society, means that it
copied the phonetics that educated people used to speak and dropped the letter r form the words used
in the accent, especially from the British accents. In fact, transatlantic accent upon embracing the
culture of r less pronunciation was promoted as the correct and right international English. Schools of
acting, speech, and elocution adopted transatlantic accent and the r less pronunciation as a method and
taught it in the schools. Speech schools in the United States advanced the accent, thereby, attracting so
many people from the elite families to join acting, elocution, and speech schools in order to learn the
transatlantic accent (Jenny).
The official origin of transatlantic accent traces its roots in Australian phonetics. The accent was
popularized by the William Tilly who taught in Columbia University, who introduced the Australian
phonetic consistency in the United States. The professor introduced the consistency of Australian
phonetics using a conscious standard of American speech. The phonetic grew to define the American
classical accent that was eventually identified as transatlantic accent that started declining during the
Second World War. Transatlantic attracted

Liberation Of Bangladesh Essay
The year 1971 started with high hopes around the world for peace, prosperity and all round
development in all spheres. On the eve of 1971 there were jubilations all over the world from
Melbourne to San Francisco, crackers turned the nights illuminating into multicolour, as if Celestial
bodies themselves came down to greet people. Beer Mugs after mugs were gulped down to bid adieu
to 1970 and welcome the New Year. Another fresh new year was here, another year to live, to love and
laugh again, to live each day with full zest, without any fear and with full optimism that the new year
and the new day is full of surprises and merriment. People all over the world visited Churches,
Temples and Mosques to pray God for them and the rest of the world for the best, but perhaps India
and Pakistan were destined to see each other with bloodied eyes. The militaristic, political
confrontation between these two countries saw the biggest triumph for India, humiliating and
unbearable defeat for Pakistan and the creation of a new nation Bangladesh who went through their
most horrible days, from the erstwhile East Pakistan.
The liberation of Bangladesh from the cruel clutches of Pakistan was the main reason for conflict
between India and Pakistan. India being a sandwich between East Pakistan and West Pakistan could
not turn his eyes from the genocide perpetuated against the civilians of East Pakistan by West Pakistan
junta.

Notes On Loss And Loss
Loss is one of the most common experience that each of us share with all of mankind, no matter our
age, where we live, what we do. Yet when severe loss occurs in anyone lives most of us feels awful
and have no idea how to bring about our painful emotions and continue with our day to day lives
(Wyatt, 2010).
Loss is the experience of parting with object, person, belief, or relationship that one values.
Losses are come across daily by everyone.
Losses can be minor or major.
The influence of loss depends upon the value the person placed on what was lost.
There are two type of losses,
1. Tangible (Actual or physical): They are actual and easily acknowledged for e.g. Death, loss of body
part, changes in physical health.
2. Intangible (perceived or psychological) losses are less obvious and may be tied to personal opinion
such as one s prestige, power, dreams, plans, security etc.
Grief is the process of psychological or physiological response a person experience after a loss of
valued person, object, belief or relationship.
Losses leads to mourning the period of time during which the grief is articulated.
Bereavement is the period of grief following the death of the loved one.
Everyone experiences grief as an individual and its impact depend upon the individual past

China s Economy Is Becoming The World s Second Largest...
1.1 Background
Since initiating a series of economic reforms and adopting the open policy in 1978, China s economy
has experienced a spectacular growth and achieved a remarkable success over the past three decades.
In particular, according to the government figures released on August 16th 2010, China s economy in
the second quarter has slightly surpassed Japan s in terms of gross domestic product. This milestone
suggests that China is becoming the world s second largest economy behind the United States. At the
same time, the opportunities created by the striking economic growth have led China s most important
investment markets, stock and real estate markets to undertake an enormous transformation and
development. On one hand, since the two stock exchanges (Shanghai Stock Exchange Shenzhen Stock
Exchange) were launched in 1990, China s stock market has served as a vehicle for financing and
supporting the development and reform of State Owned Enterprises. That is, within China s bank
dominated financial system, stock market was restricted by a series of regulations and assumed only a
secondary role in the financial economy. Not until the late 1990s did the stock market acquire an
increasingly important strategic role in China s economy. The stock market was vigorously promoted
by relaxing regulations imposed on it and experienced tremendous growth in size and liquidity since
the early twenty first century (Lai Yang, 2009, p.409 410).

William Penn John Winthrop s Goals in Colonization Essay
During the early colonization of the East coast of North America, many groups of people of Europe
came to the New World such as the Puritans and Quakers. Both the Puritans, led by John Winthrop,

their own views and goals in religion, politics, and ethnic relations. Being on the native land of the
local Indians, both Penn and Winthrop had to face issues and negotiations with the Indians. Penn and

Escaping from a corrupt government that England had oppressing them for many years, both Winthrop
and Penn wanted a government which was self governing and a government that was just for people.
These early types of government would later help the creation of the government that would being the
United States.
The biggest motivation in Penn and Winthrop was their views on religion and how it should be carried
out in the community. Penn was one the few and first to believe in religious toleration and freedom to
worship any religion without the fear of persecution. The Quaker communities would welcome all
forms of religion such as Baptism and Evangelism while the Puritans would be very secluded. The
Puritans thought any other religion would bring in vile thought and immoral ideals that would affect
their community. Puritans would discourage any other form of religion which made them a very
isolated, homogenous, group of people. Penn s views would also shape the future government of the
United States.
Penn and Winthrop led their people to the New World with the hopes of starting a new, safe, society
that escaped persecution. Their contact with the Indians and their differing views of religion would
help them shape the politics of their communities. They both came with the similar goals but they
would each carry it out in their own specific way. These early colonists would help influence the
founding of many other communities, bringing in many new ideals

Survival At The Cost Of Mortality In Literature
The theme of survival at the cost of morality is evident in an abundant amount of literature seen today.
This type of literature is studied everywhere from school classrooms to reading on an individual s free
time. Morality relates to what behavior is considered right or wrong based on an individual s ethics.
Sometimes a person may do things that they did not originally intend to do, but they feel as if they
have to behave this way to get what they want, or even survive. The characters discussed in this
English course that have displayed the quality of survival at the cost of mortality is Pi, Claudius, and

The Economics of the iPhone
The Economics of the iPhone
Introduction
The best selling Apple iPhone by any measure of financial and market performance is an unparalleled
success. The Apple iPhone is credited with creating one of the most robust, extensive supply chain
ecosystems globally today, fueling nearly $7B to $10B in ancillary products and services.
Paradoxically even the success of the iPhone has done little to increase U.S. exports. Startlingly the
Apple iPhone s success, according to a recent study, has actually fueled an even greater deficit in the
U.S., making a significant contribution to the $1.9B deficit with China (Xing, Detert, 2011). This
counterintuitive finding from the analysis of the researchers suggest that transaction velocity and
supply chain coordination across global networks increase export surpluses not of the nation who
company built the product, but the one that builds it (Xing, Detert, 2011).
Analysis
The pace of new product introductions combined with the exceptionally rapid growth of global supply
chains and their performance have paradoxically put the United States in an ever more dependent
condition with China and other trading partners. This in turn has created a high level of dependency
on pricing and availability factors of production, which from an import and export standpoint, favor
China significantly over the U.S. (Xing, Detert, 2011).
In addition to these factors, the capital infusions from global investors are now favoring those

painfully polite country, a place with a terribly cold climate and meticulously clean cities. These

Market Theory, Capital Asset Pricing Model
Capital market has deep developed this century, more and more investors go into this market. Which
security is better? How to invest? Investors need numeric index to make decision. There are some
theories to help investors: portfolio theory, capital asset pricing model (CAPM), option pricing model
and so on. This essay will explain portfolio theory firstly. Secondly, this essay will explain CAPM and
discuss the importance of the assumptions of CAPM. Thirdly, this essay will explain arbitrage pricing
theory (APT) and factors model. Finally, this essay will compare CAPM with APT and factors model.
Harry Markowitz put forward portfolio theory in 1952; portfolio theory is that using portfolio
diversification to eliminate non systematic risk; portfolio theory uses mathematical methods σanalysis
the relationship between risk (variance) and expect return (mean) (Brealey, Myers and Allen,2014).
Mean variance criterion is very important for Portfolio theory. The mean is the expect return of
portfolio, the formula of expect return for one asset is: E (r) = ∑_(all states)▒〖r×y(states)〗 r is
return; y is the probability of return. Formula of expect return for portfolio is: E(r) =w_1*E (r_1) +
w_2*E (r_2) + ... + w_n*E (r_n) w is the weight of an asset in the portfolio. The variance represents
risk of portfolio, and the formula of portfolio s variance is: σ^2=E [〖(r ¯r)〗^2] = ∑_(i,j=1)^n▒

Rhetorical analysis of John Leo essay When life imitates Video.
The Writer of When life imitates Video , John Leo has tried to persuade his readers the reason why
violent video games have negative impact on children s character. The first main goal of his article is
to show the relationship between playing murderous games and violent actions. His second main goal
is to make emotional appeal to parents the need to monitor their child from exposure of graphic
violent medias. Most of his argument comes from his personal believe otherwise not supported by any
evidence except making emotional(pathos) and logical(logos) appeal by trying to associate violence
occurred in the Colorado with violent video games. To further strengthen his argument, he cited the
Los Angles Times which describe the characters children display while watching morbid video games
and he tried to link the aggressive behavior modeled in the game and violent character. He assume the
whole society as his audience. As he stated it, we are now a society in which the form of play for
millions of youngsters is making a large number of people die .He succeeded in writing and

concern is jobs. Advanced manufacturing will require a highly skilled worker to deal with robots,
which in the years to come, will be able to make their own decisions. The workers will need to be

Are Cats Smarter Than Dogs
The Egyptians worshipped them, fish fear them, and they own the space around them like kings; cats
are small forces to be reckoned with. Do like cats or dogs? This question has haunted every get to
know me questionnaire ever since I ve been dubbed sufficiently literate enough to know and write
about these needless facts. Why every elementary school teacher saw this question as the optimum
way to ease the first day jitters is beyond me, but I digress. Recently I ve decided that it really isn t a
question of preferring one over the other, but rather it s you like one and respect the other. Dogs are
impossible to not like; they re large puffs of fur that contain about as much intelligence as an infant
while also retaining the endearing quality of I ll love you forever if you pet me . Cats however, are
cold, cunning, and judgmental creatures that refuse to demean themselves with silly things such as
utter devotion. When faced with these two polar opposite creatures, it is clear which one demands
respect. This is why cats are smarter than dogs; it is their self awareness, ability to concoct schemes,
and wholehearted refusal to submit to humans that guarantees them a reputation of intelligence and
prestige. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike dogs, who tend to stick to your side all the time, cats basically go off and do their own thing
until they need something. If you re feeling lonely one day and decide you want to cuddle your cat
there is a 50/50 chance of getting bit or scratch because they weren t feeling especially sensitive that
day. However, if they do need or want something from you, cats have no problem asking. A cat owner
never needs to worry about their cat needing something because they will tell you no matter what you
may be doing at the time. Their demanding nature is instrumental to their survival and wellbeing as a

Greek Black Figure Amphora
Greek Amphora Explanation
On December the 19th, 2013 an Ancient Greek Black Figure amphora was dug up by several
archaeologists in Greece, near the ancient city of Athens. This Ancient Greek primary source, made
from the 6th century BC, provides a vision into the everyday life of a wealthy woman in Athens.
Wealthy women in Athens had a lot of privileges in comparison to those less fortunate. Although
wealthy women in Athens had more privileges than the slaves, the lower class, and the middle class,
they were still expected to spin and weave cloth for the families clothing, and any other items the
house needed for daily running. At this time in Ancient Greece, there were no sewing machines or
spinning wheels, meaning all spinning and weaving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Black Figure style included painting black figures upon an orange background and then incising
additional details for further distinction of the characters. Flower like patterns were used to decorate
the brims of the pottery, and specific colours were painted on for particular purpose. (White was
generally used when painting female skin, black was used when painting a male s skin, and purple and
red were used for clothing and embellishments.) Pottery artists also first begun inscribing their
signatures on their own work throughout this era. These features can all evidently be identified on the
amphora as there are two wealthy women using a Greek loom to spin and weave cloth. The designs on
the amphora have been painted with relevant colours and the appropriate use of floral patterns have
been illustrated around the edges of the amphora. The artist s signature is also evident on the base. The
first signed amphora dates back to 570 BC. A large number of other individual painters have been
identified with confidence through their signatures. (artists usually signed their name as ...... made this
.) as time progressed, Black Figure pottery became exceedingly popular all through the rest of Greece
and was used by many other Greek artists when painting Greek

It reminded me a lot of the book Anthem by Ayn Rand where they also lived in a very oppressive government but to the point that they were not allowed to say the word I and they were all given their job in society. Throughout the whole novel, I questioned how Mae was okay with working for The Circle. I would never be okay with wearing anything that made me fully transparent to anyone and let them see what I was doing at all times. I would not really care if there were SeeChange cameras up around Auburn because I think they could maybe make campus even safer. With reference to the web environment, content management system may be limited to the creation, control, storage and deployment of individual contents on a given web page. Content management system is differentiated from static pages through a number of ways. Ultimately, whereas content management system should enable a manipulative approach towards the use of the web pages in question, static pages give web users no manipulative option of altering the content of the page. Rather, users act as passive beneficiaries who receive the information on the web pages just as they have been stored. This means that given a number of users ... It is advised that Users can create surveys and polls to find out what their visitors like (Smith, 2010). Recent survey conducted among content management system users have pointed to the cost of content management system software as being too expensive. This means that there is a hindrance to getting the very best of quality if one is not ready to spend more (The Information Architecture Institute, 2003). There is also the problem of migrating old content to a new and updated content. This means that the actual process of managing content to benefit from the full usefulness of content management system is a great obstacle to some users. Even more, the problem of protection of URL paths exists. This creates insecurity and creates volatility on the path. Finally, content management system has a number of limitations to the problems it can solve itself. This is like saying that research on the functions of CMS is still not complete. Some of the problems that CMS is said not to be in a position to solve include lack of editorial control, bad copywriting, bloated websites and single language content (Boag, 2010). Clearly, not all websites use CMS the same way. Whereas some use CMS in a relatively productive and good way, others use them distastefully. • 9. Special Effects and Scenes from The Day After Tomorrow Some scenes in the movie The Day After Tomorrow were very plausible and likely to occur in real life, while others were simply made from special effects and could most likely never occur in day to day life. One very possible scene was animals sensing the weather and being able to escape before a massive storm was soon to hit. According to http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/can animals predict disaster/tall tales or true/131/, Plenty of studies have shown that some animals can sense major changes in the weather. Worms, for instance, are known to flee rising groundwater. Birds are known to be sensitive to air pressure changes, and often hunker down before a big storm. And in Florida, researchers studying tagged sharks say they flee to deeper water just before a big hurricane arrives. They also may be sensing the air and water pressure changes caused by the big storm. Another plausible scene in the movie is tornadoes being so powerful and strong that they can pick up cars and throw them forcefully into the air. One example that backs up this statement is, In a scene straight out of a blockbuster disaster movie, big rig trucks were tossed high into the air like toys when huge tornadoes slammed into Dallas yesterday (April 3). The National Weather Service said today that the damage in Texas, which included hundreds of homes, suggested one of the twisters was an EF2, meaning the winds gusted between 111 and 135 mph (179 217 kph). • 11. Physical Environment Of Football The physical environment of an event can affect the way spectators view the activity that is being held at an event. In this instance, the physical environment of a stadium can affect the way spectators view the game of football. The overall stadium experience a spectator may have depends heavily on some of the physical aspects of the stadium s environment. If the experience is positive, then the desire to visit the stadium again will be more likely. If the overall experience is negative, then more than likely the spectator will not return. In my research, I have found that The University of Alabama does a great job at keeping their attendance up at their football games. While many people seem to have an overall positive experience at the stadium, there are also some areas that could be improved. There are over thirty seven thousand students that attend The University of Alabama. The college is well known for its championship football team who reigns in the Southeastern conference of every year. You can probably imagine the enormous population that is in attendance at each football game. Winning championships is not the only thing that keeps the fans coming. • 14. Comparing Dantes Inferno And Chaucer s Canterbury Tales Dante s Inferno and Chaucer s Canterbury Tales are both tremendously significant literary works that are still relevant to this present day. Dante s Inferno depicts one pilgrim being led into the depths of Hell at the hands of a guide named Virgil. As the two descend into Hell, it becomes apparent that Dante has strong religious opinions that influence his placement of several individuals into the various levels of Hell. One thing he makes obvious in his works is that hypocrisy and fraudulence are revolting characteristics. This piece of literature has the tone of darkness and warnings. Because Dante was exiled from his native country of Florence by people who possessed these characteristics, it only seems fair that these people have their own special places in Hell. Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, however, tells many pilgrim s tales as a means to pass time during their voyage to Canterbury. The Native American lifestyle has changed significantly during the last half of the 20th century and that is because views on the Native people have drastically changed over time. They have had many hardships that have greatly impacted their culture over the past few centuries leading up to today. Many natives remained on the reservations where they were able to maintain their language and culture (Otten, Dutton). ABTPA Case Study Since its inception in 1991, ABTPA has provided 265 million dollars of state funding to 628 grants to supplement local law enforcement and public awareness efforts across the state. Subsequent to the creation of TxDMV in 2009, ABTPA has not received a significant increase in appropriations. FY 2011 was ABTPA s first year completely as a TxDMV line item under the General Appropriations Act (FY09 10 was still funded by TxDOT). The 81st Legislature appropriated $15,214,355 to ABTPA in FY2011, its largest appropriation as a member of TxDMV to date. Conversely, the appropriations made by the 83rd Legislature $14,907,341 and $14,904,340, for FY2014 and FY2015 respectively, are the lowest ABTPA has received as a part of TxDMV. One example demonstrating this issue is that the border area recovery rate for stolen vehicles is only 41% compared to the statewide rate of 73%. The proximity to the border provides unique challenges. Because of static funding, many Texas border counties are not served by an ABTPA Task Force. Communities as thieves attempt to cross international bridges into Mexico and sell the vehicles for economic profit. The high volume of traffic crossing the international border in both directions makes it difficult to effectively monitor the various ports of entry to intercept stolen vehicles before they leave the country. The major role of the project manager or team is to lead all processes and participants of a given project. In satisfying this role, the project manager or team has the difficult task of predicting project schedules and budgets, including possible setbacks that may adversely impact them. Where setbacks are encountered, the project manager or team should strive to compensate for these, to bring the project within agreed requirements. For example, recent recipients of the Project of the Year Award in 2009 and 2010 demonstrated their ability to achieve project goals despite significant setbacks. In 2009, the Newmont TS Power Plant Project faced challenges from a difficult economic landscape in 2004 and an environment with unparalleled demand for technical resources and construction labor, while operating in a remote location. The project management team adopted a risk management approach and focused on high performance teamwork. The former approach, with risk management and mitigation, is among core strategies advocated by the Project Management Institute. The latter attribute, regarding the level of teamwork, was enhanced by adopting many team building sessions, and by valuing a clear vision for the goals expected by all stakeholders in the project. • 25. Essay On EU Law Whilst there has been contention to the definition of direct effects, it has generally been explained to be a principle that bestows upon the individuals of the European Union (hereafter, the EU) Member State, a right which flows from EU law. This conferring of right would enable an individual to invoke the provision before the courts. An invention of the Court of Justice of the European Union (hereafter, the CJEU) and first recognized in Van Gend en Loose , this principle, therefore, goes to the heart of the supremacy of EU law. The wording of Article 288 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (hereafter, the TFEU) is crystal clear; Directives are addressed to Member States and would have to first be transposed into national law within the given deadline. However, where the Directive in question can fulfil the conditions in Van Gend and have expired , they may have a direct effect. Nevertheless, this direct effect is restricted only to that of a horizontal nature. Marshall disallows individuals from enforcing a Directive against a private body. Concerns were raised when there was a call to allow Directives to be horizontally effective. One point of contention was the fact that Article 288 expressly mentions that Directives are binding upon Member States who were expressly addressed. Another argument raised was focused on the distinction between Regulations and Directives. The transposition process for Directives is what differentiates the two. To take away this ability would be to blur the demarcation between the two types of secondary EU law sources as they would both be rendered directly applicable. Despite the criticisms, however, Marshall was affirmed in Dori a decade later. Yet, a problem stems from the refusal of having Directives be horizontally effective; claimants are unable to rely ... Starting on March 21, 1971 and lasting one month long, the war became a fight over power and authority. The war affected Pakistan and India greatly. It was first triggered when East and West Pakistan had issues. India became involved in the war when they decided to help East Pakistan. The war affected a great number of people. Just like any war, The Bangladesh Liberation War had many devastating tragedies. Although the tragedies were an obstacle, everything ended up working out for the uprising of Bangladesh. There were multiple causes of The Bangladesh Liberation War. These causes include the lack of sharing power between East and West Pakistan, resources, language, and the Bhola Cyclone. Pakistan was divided up into provinces. West Pakistan had four provinces that included Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and the North West Frontier. East Pakistan was a province all on its own. Although the majority of the population lived in East Pakistan, it seemed as if West Pakistan had complete control over East Pakistan. East Pakistan had little to no political power. Resources was also a cause of the war. Since West Pakistan had complete control over East Pakistan, they used more resources than the east did. The Origin Of Transatlantic Accents In The English Language Transatlantic accent had a strong resemblance to musical type of speaking compared to details that accompany the world s many leading phonetics that come from a sustained form of education. The fact that transatlantic accent was mainly spoken by the affluent people in the society, means that it copied the phonetics that educated people used to speak and dropped the letter r form the words used in the accent, especially from the British accents. In fact, transatlantic accent upon embracing the culture of r less pronunciation was promoted as the correct and right international English. The Apple iPhone is credited with creating one of the most robust, extensive supply chain ecosystems globally today, fueling nearly $7B to $10B in ancillary products and services. Paradoxically even the success of the iPhone has done little to increase U.S. exports. Startlingly the Apple iPhone s success, according to a recent study, has actually fueled an even greater deficit in the U.S., making a significant contribution to the $1.9B deficit with China (Xing, Detert, 2011). This counterintuitive finding from the analysis of the researchers suggest that transaction velocity and supply chain coordination across global networks increase export surpluses not of the nation who company built the product, but the one that builds it (Xing, Detert, 2011). Analysis The pace of new product introductions combined with the exceptionally rapid growth of global supply chains and their performance have paradoxically put the United States in an ever more dependent condition with China and other trading partners. This in turn has created a high level of dependency on pricing and availability factors of production, which from an import and export standpoint, favor China significantly over the U.S. (Xing, Detert, 2011). • 42. How The Quality Of Water Affected By The Parameter necessary to compact decay scale formation, and fouling of heat transfer surfaces throughout the reactor facility and support system [3]. The most common step in water treatment process includes;  COAGULATION/FLOCCULATION  SEDIMENTATION  FILTRATION  DISINFECTION  SLUDGE DRYING  FLUORIDATION  PH CORRECTION 5.0 WATER QUALITY PARAMETERS In this paper we are going to analyze the quality of water affected by the parameter. The quality of water is not equal and constant. Water quality is affected by different type of parameters such as Colour, Turbidity, Total dissolved solids, Taste and odour, PH is the physical parameters. Chloride, calcium, magnesium, sulphate, total hardness is the chemical parameters. 5.1 Colour Colour is measured in Hazen units. Colour can originate from organic matter in the soil through or over, which the water has passed. It is optimal parameter consisting in absorbing of a part of spectrum of visible radiation by substances in dissolved in water, colloidal substances, and suspended particles present in water. 5.2 Turbidity Turbidity is dirtiness of water and is measured by a light scattering technique. Turbidity is a measure of how particles suspended in water affect water clarity. 5.3 PH PH is a measure of a solution s acidity. In water, small numbers of water molecules (H2O) will break apart or disassociate into hydrogen ions (H+) and hydroxide ions (OH ). Other compounds entering the water may react with these, leaving an imbalance in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Are Cats Smarter Than Dogs The Egyptians worshipped them, fish fear them, and they own the space around them like kings; cats are small forces to be reckoned with. Do like cats or dogs? This question has haunted every get to know me questionnaire ever since I ve been dubbed sufficiently literate enough to know and write about these needless facts. Why every elementary school teacher saw this question as the optimum way to ease the first day jitters is beyond me, but I digress. Recently I ve decided that it really isn t a question of preferring one over the other, but rather it s you like one and respect the other. Dogs are impossible to not like; they re large puffs of fur that contain about as much intelligence as an infant while also retaining the endearing quality of I ll love you forever if you pet me . Cats however, are cold, cunning, and judgmental creatures that refuse to demean themselves with silly things such as utter devotion. When faced with these two polar opposite creatures, it is clear which one demands respect. This is why cats are smarter than dogs; it is their self awareness, ability to concoct schemes, and wholehearted refusal to submit to humans that guarantees them a reputation of intelligence and prestige. ... If you re feeling lonely one day and decide you want to cuddle your cat there is a 50/50 chance of getting bit or scratch because they weren t feeling especially sensitive that day. However, if they do need or want something from you, cats have no problem asking. A cat owner never needs to worry about their cat needing something because they will tell you no matter what you may be doing at the time. • 47. Greek Black Figure Amphora Greek Amphora Explanation On December the 19th, 2013 an Ancient Greek Black Figure amphora was dug up by several archaeologists in Greece, near the ancient city of Athens. This Ancient Greek primary source, made from the 6th century BC, provides a vision into the everyday life of a wealthy woman in Athens. Wealthy women in Athens had a lot of privileges in comparison to those less fortunate. Although wealthy women in Athens had more privileges than the slaves, the lower class, and the middle class, they were still expected to spin and weave cloth for the families clothing, and any other items the house needed for daily running. At this time in Ancient Greece, there were no sewing machines or spinning wheels, meaning all spinning and weaving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Black Figure style included painting black figures upon an orange background and then incising additional details for further distinction of the characters. Flower like patterns were used to decorate the brims of the pottery, and specific colours were painted on for particular purpose. (White was generally used when painting female skin, black was used when painting a male s skin, and purple and red were used for clothing and embellishments.) Pottery artists also first begun inscribing their signatures on their own work throughout this era. These features can all evidently be identified on the amphora as there are two wealthy women using a Greek loom to spin and weave cloth. The designs on the amphora have been painted with relevant colours and the appropriate use of floral patterns have been illustrated around the edges of the amphora. The artist s signature is also evident on the base. The first signed amphora dates back to 570 BC. A large number of other individual painters have been identified with confidence through their signatures. (artists usually signed their name as ...... made this .) as time progressed, Black Figure pottery became exceedingly popular all through the rest of Greece and was used by many other Greek artists when painting Greek ...
