Mental Health Issues In Social Media
2.2 The situation now Looking back at how the stigma surrounding mental illness impact on people in
results of media portrayal, there is an urgent need in reducing stigma and raising awareness in order to
prevent social discrimination of people with mental illness and to encourage those with mental illness
to speak up what they are going through. Patrick Corrigan Illinois Institute of Technology
psychologist stated that it was as bad as it is 20 years ago (Yuhas, 2014). Benefiting the convenience
of social media in our today s world, Betton, Borschmann, Docherty, Coleman, Brown and Henderson
(2015), taking into account the capability of social media in overcoming this matter. Due to the
explosion of new technology, modern info spectrum is now a part of our modern lifestyle. The
reinvention of traditional mass media into new media which is more digital based because of the
development of different fields in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, instead of focusing on being aware of mental illness, they are terrified of it. Repeated
use of negative and inaccurate images of mentally ill individuals, mental health professionals and also
psychotherapy leads the society to discriminate these group of people. This problem is getting worst
from time to time and it needs to be reduce. The incorporation of campaign in social media as a
medium to raise awareness regarding this matter I seen as a promising avenue in stigma reduction as it
improves the condition, hence breaking down the stereotypes (Research and Development
Cooperation, 2012). One of the latest campaigns done by The National Alliance on Mental Illness of
New York City which is #IWILLLISTEN, has a positive feedback. If more people join in raising
consciousness about this matter, there will be an opportunity for the everyone to change public
attitudes towards mental health through social media

Overcoming Adversity In The Three Ways To Overcoming...
Before getting back up after you fall you have to gather all your strength and push whatever made you
fall harder.Every time you fall the same solution might not work so you have to be stubborn and keep
an attitude that tells your challenger Try your best shot, and that if you fall you won t be gone for
long.People overcome obstacles in less than three ways the three ways are by keeping a positive
attitude, being determined, and lastly being a creative problem solver. First,in ways, people overcome
obstacles is keeping a positive attitude since when you have a positive attitude you are harder to
discourage. An example of positive attitude while facing adversity would be in the text A work in
progress where Aimee Mullin faces her adversity with humor like when she broke her wooden leg and
while all the other people in that room were freaking out all she could think about was that her parents
were going to kill her.I chose this example because out of all the stories we read in class about facing
adversity Aimee Mullin struck me as the most positive about her obstacle. It s important because it
shows my point that with a positive attitude you don t get discouraged as easily and like Aimee Mullin
you can achieve whatever you wish no matter your adversity.Another example from A work in
progress that shows positive attitude would be when Aimee Mullin got her new legs and was stating
all the good qualities about her legs instead of being like oh I don t this about them or

Against Restraining Orders
Legally speaking, a restraining order works in one direction. If you file a restraining order against
someone, they are not allowed to contact you, or be in a certain distance of you. You on the other
hand, can freely contact them without violating the restraining order. While you can legally contact
them, it is highly advised not to unless absolutely necessary. Restraining orders are put in place for a
reason, and contacting the person you have filed one against may throw suspicion on your motives.
Enough contact and the one you filed a restraining order against can go to court to get the restraining
order terminated. If you are on the other end of the restraining order, having one filed against you,
then make sure you understand what all

Michael Moore Capitalism Synopsis
Michael Moore is the writer and director of the highly relevant documentary film, Capitalism: A Love
Story. To me, the most interesting chapter of the film is Dead Peasants. Moore talked about capitalism
is a system of giving and taking, mostly taking . In my opinion, it sounds true for me. Moore
illustrated Irma Johnson s husband Dan ironic case. Who recently died of cancer, leaving behind Irma
and their two sons. They filmed the woman cried and sadly talked about her husband. Her husband
worked in middle management at Amegy Bank in Houston, Texas. Amegy had taken out a secret life
insurance policy on Dan s life. The bank generously named itself as the beneficiary in the event of
Dan s death. Dan s death made them $1.5 million richer by the insurance company accidentally
informed Irma that Amegy Bank had received a check for $1.5 million just weeks after Dan died. Irma
Johnson cried in pain that she didn t know anything and they never told her. Why the company try to
profit from employee s death?. How are these companies able to get away with this?. Moore might be
answer those kinds of question in sarcastic way : I guess that s the point of capitalism. It allows you to
get away with anything, like making a profit off the death of an employee.
These kind of corporate insurance policies on employees, with the normal use of life insurance, ...

America is not great like everyone thinks, not all thing is perfect, I guess. In the film, the best well
known case is Walmart, Moore mentioned about Walmart took out over 350,000 life insurance policies
on rank and file associates. Especially, LaDonna s death earned one of the richest corporations in the
world an extra $81,000 and Walmart didn t offer a penny to help to cover her medical bills and funeral
which over $100,000. We call that case as Dead Peasant Insurance. It is just more about the want of

Analysis Of Lucozade
The aim of this essay is to to provide a market analysis for Lucozade energy drinks. Lucozade is one
of the leading companies in the industry of energy and sports drinks in Great Britain and Ireland
(Suntorybeverageandfood europe.com, n.d.). Originally named Glucozade, Lucozade was created in
1927 as a sickness recovery drink. In 1929, it was renamed to Lucozade. In 1980, the soft drink
repositioned as an everyday recreational energy drink (Lrsuntory.com, n.d.). This essay shall address
the manufacturer of Lucozade Energy, an innovative feature of the product and the target market in
which it is aimed. I will also discuss how Lucozade Energy interacts with the 4Ps of marketing and its
use of advertisement.

social media and promotional campaigns. In 2015, Lucozade invested £14m in its Find Your Flow
campaign for Lucozade Energy. This campaign was intended to change the perception of the fizzy
drink as a cure for colds and hangovers and reposition it as an ally of busy people. The campaign
included TV and radio advertisement and was mentioned frequently on Lucozade s social media
pages. In some of England s top train stations, floor decals using the campaign s brand colours
directed commuters in and out of the station, improving the flow of the station (Grey.com, 2016). A
previous campaign ran by Lucozade was their YES campaign. Its aim was to re energize the brand.
The campaign lived across many well known platforms such as iTunes, Spotify and Shazam. The
campaign featured collaborations with rapper Tine Tempah, musician Travis Barker and Olympic gold
winner Katie Taylor. The campaign was also involved in many sporting events and music festivals
(Grey.com, 2016). Another method Lucozade uses to promote its energy drink is by running
competitions on a frequent basis. Currently, Lucozade is running a travel competition with a prize of

I Am At Manzanar Internment Camp
Barbed wired barracks, portable potties, and partition less showers. My grandfather reminisces his
time spend at Manzanar Internment Camp. While my grandfather stood in the giant shadow of a 30
foot armed tower, 500 acres of Californian dessert enclosed nearly 12,000 Japanese Americans. In
1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 authorizing the removal and
detainment of anyone in military territory. When armed police went door to door rounding up
Japanese Americans and ordering them straight to the camps as my grandfather asserted, America s
national fear was exploited. My grandfather at the age of sixteen, lost his home, his family, and
notably continued to face several obstacles postwar. Thousands of Japanese Americans during the
1940 s, including Ichiro in John Okada s No No Boy, have had their lives reshaped by new territories,
boundaries and inner conflicts. The lost of family and friends was prevalent as racial prejudices
intensified throughout the nation. While thousands of innocent families were victimized in the
Japanese interment camps and imprisonments during WWII, the overwhelming distress led to corrupt
relationships and inner turmoil. After abandoning everything in our home, everything my parents had
worked for, I was met by assault rifles, searchlights and quarters too small for the amount of people it
accommodated my grandfather assured. The property, belongings, jobs and businesses were all left
behind in the rash fear

The Aeneid By Virgil, The Oresteia, And Sappho By Sappho
Rationality affects the way we behave, but emotions change our behavior and drive us to behave the
way we do. People are driven by emotions, yet we can not allow them to be the only thing that
controls our actions and behaviors. Rationality helps control our emotions and prevents them from
getting too out of hand. There are three texts from seminar that demonstrate this idea of emotional
power: The Aeneid by Virgil, The Oresteia by Aeschylus, and Sappho by Sappho. In The Aeneid, the
text discusses Aeneas journey to Italy and the many encounters he had. It was in this text that the
females displayed emotional power. The Oresteia is a play about murder, revenge, and justice within
the royal family of Argos. Emotion is what drives this play ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Rational, only in appearance, Dido tells her sister, Anna, to go build her a pyre in secret, deep inside
our courtyard under the open sky to obliterate every trace of the man (144; lines 618, 623). Anna does
as her sister tells her to and is deceived by what the pyre was really meant for. Dido attempts to rid
herself of her emotions by burning every trace of Aeneas, yet her emotions eventually take over. With
her heart torn apart, Dido commits suicide. Dido s sister on the other hand is hurt but still emotionally
stable. Anna is stunned, grieving, and hurt by the actions of her sister. She states, how very cruel... You
have destroyed your life, my sister, mine too (151; lines 847, 848). Despite playing a part in her sister
s death, Anna remains levelheaded and requests help to bathe [Dido s] wounds in water and hopes that
if a lingering breath still hovers that she should catch it on [her] lips (151; lines 851, 852). Similar to
The Aeneid, The Oresteia also demonstrates characters caving into their emotions. Clytemnestra, the
Queen of Argos, lacks the power to prevent her daughter being used as a sacrificial lamb to the gods.
The misery she felt when her husband, Agamemnon, sacrificed their daughter was immense. So
immense that it led her to murder, for she thought that

Summary Of Suicide Note By Janice Mirikitani
Nowadays, it seems like we hear a lot about suicide and who did what and all about their life story.
You hear many stories about how no one knew it was coming and they showed no signs. It is a hard
pill to swallow when most of the time you realize that they probably showed countless amount of
signs but it is that no one really paid attention to the signs. Suicide Note was written by Janice
Mirikitani, it is about an Asian American girl who committed suicide. It is often said that she
committed suicide for having a less than perfect grade point average but I think throughout the poem,
it seems like something a little more hiding beneath the cover of this college student s death. The
Suicide Note is a very blunt title for a poem. It is everything you would think it would be and more.
The poem has a little paragraph before it explaining what the poem is based off on a college student

She is trying to tell her parents that she did not mean to disappoint them. She is saying that she is sorry
for not being the best that they wanted her to be. She is telling them she is sorry because she believes
she could have done something to get the better grades or be the person her parents wanted her to be.
The college girl thinks this all could have been avoided if she would of just been born a boy. It is
crazy to think what did her parents tell her? Did her parents show her any love at all? Did they not see
the warning signs that she was gonna commit suicide? They probably did not see it because the
college girl was so caught up trying to be perfect for her parents that she did not think about herself.
She did not think about how all these thoughts about her being a bad person were sucking her up in to
a black hole that she could never escape. She was scared to let her feelings out to her parents because
she was afraid they would see her as weak. She tried her hardest to do the best for everyone except

Literary Analysis Of A Farewell To Arms
Haunting yet passionate, A Farewell to Arms allows readers to perceive the story from a soldier s point
of view. Hemingway depicts the harsh war with sensory but blunt details. His expression of words has
an emotional appeal on the reader, allowing his or her to put themselves in the shoes of any character.
For example, on page 73 Hemingway writes, There was sunlight coming through the shutters. I saw
the big armoire, the bare walls, and two chairs. My legs in dirty bandages, stuck straight out of the
bed. Hemingway fully describes what is seen and this permits his audience to have a full picture in
their mind.
Hemingway includes important quotes throughout the novel. On page 26, Miss Barkley starts, You did
say you loved me, didn t you? and Henry replies, Yes, I lied, I love you. I had not said it before. Later,
she brings up the rotten game they play as their affection isn t completely real. The men at the mess
begin to talk about protesting war on page 61, You are a foreigner. You are a patriot. And the ones who
would not make war? Can they stop it? I don t know. They speak of this earlier in the book (page 43)
as well but they can never fully understand how war starts or ends. On page 99, Henry and Barkley
speak of their love, I only wanted it for you. There isn t a me. I m you. Don t make up a separate me.
Another quote on page 200, Henry explains that he is over his obligation of being a part of the army
by saying, Anger was washed away in

Romanticism In The Last Of The Mohicans
Aspect of Romanticism in The Last of The Mohicans Romanticism is an artistic and intellectual
movement mainly in France and England that started in the last 18th century and came to America in
the 19th century. Honor, Nationalism, Superstition/Horror, Pastoralism, and Love are all the aspects of
romanticism that showed up in Michael Mann s movie The Last of The Mohicans. Honor is good
reputation: good quality or character as judged by other people. Two subcategories of honor are
heroes, persons who are admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities, and chivalry, the qualities of
an ideal knight. In The Last of The Mohicans, Hawkeye, Uncas, and Chingachgook all rescued

There were many relationships in the movie, the first one was between Duncan and Cora. Duncan
wanted to marry and be with Cora but she didn t feel the same way about him: My feelings don t go
beyond friendship. Later on in the movie, Cora even gets disgusted with him because he was agreeing
with her father about the imprisonment of Hawkeye; the only reason Duncan supported the
punishment was because he was jealous of the relationship brewing between Cora and Hawkeye. The
second relationship in the movie was between Cora and Hawkeye; at first they were just casually
flirting nothing bigger than that. What are you looking at sir? Cora said, I m looking at you miss.
Hawkeye replied. Shortly after that they kissed and shared a romantic moment together in a tent. A
while later, Hawkeye even risked his life to go and save Cora from getting captured by the Huron. The
last and final relationship in The Last of The Mohicans was between Uncas and Alice; it was
unexpected at first but it started when Uncas first noticed Alice s fear of water on their way to
Colonial Munro s fort. While hiding from the Hurons, Uncas was comforting Alice when Hawkeye

Command and Control Policy Introduction Climate change poses a huge risk to human beings and
natural system hence the need for policies to reduce carbon dioxide gas emissions to the environment
and the damages caused by the rapidly changing climate. This is the reason countries like the United
States of America enacted command and control policies to try and curb the rate of pollution of the

When the quantities of environmental protection are low for an extensive for an extensive pollution,
then there exists a variety of cheap and easy ways to reduce pollution hence an increase in marginal
benefits. However, if the event that an environmental protection rises, then cheap and readily available
ways of reducing pollution start to decrease hence requiring more costly methods to be employed. As
the extent of environmental regulation rises, additional expenditures related to environmental
protection will most likely lead to increased marginal costs and decreased marginal benefits. This
pattern would suggest that the cost savings and flexibility nature of market oriented environmental
policies would be very important (Harrington Morgenstern, 2013).

Film Festival At Antelope Valley College
Title Undetermined
When taking a look at the extensive list of films I decided to pick and choose from a date range and
genre range. I wanted to not only focus on one area of film, but also on different aspects across the
board stylistically and ...... Some of the films I chose because they were tried and true favourites of
mine, and some I chose because I had never heard of them before. I wanted to comfort and challenge
myself at the same time while taking into consideration what may work best for the theoretical Film
Festival at Antelope Valley College. When I think of Film Festivals I think of a presentation to help
entice the psyche toward a more progressive thought process. Films need to make the audience stop
and think for a little bit afterward, there needs to be a pause, a moment of huh... , even if brief. It needs
to be something different, something unusual. Film Festivals shouldn t be for standard films, they
shouldn t be for the mass marketed and well known. So as much as I loved, Star Wars for example, I
knew it was less than ideal for this situation. This assignment also gave me the opportunity to reassess
the validity of some films that I thought I had liked but upon second analysis, might not hold in such
high regard. In the end the films I chose are Juno, High Noon, The King s Speech, Exit Through the
Gift Shop, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, and Apocalypse
Now. The Lancaster and the Antelope Valley area in general

Religious Pluralism Essay
On July 12, 2007, for the first time in American history the Senate session that day was opened by a
prayer; unlike any other prayer, it was given by a Hindu priest. At first sight, it would seem as though
the ideals designed by the framers of the Constitution were alive and well; the pluralization of the
United States of America, the land of freedom of religion, and the right to worship without
persecution. However, the Christian right wing religious group Operation Save America entered the
Senate floor and began to heckle Rajan Zed, the Hindu priest, perpetuating that Hinduism is an
abomination , as Hindus do not worship The lord Jesus Christ . This leads us to ask the question: Is

the identity of Muslims and American religious pluralism (Byng, M. pg. 3). The land of pluralism has

Many people in America live unnecessarily comfortable and strive to be more so. As individuals in a

Forensic Science In The Twentieth Century
Criminal investigators use forensics science to answer the who, what, why, how, when, and where
factors in a crime investigation. It uses scientific methods to describe, infer, and reconstruct events
from the small pieces of evidence found during a proper investigation. Scientists and law enforcement
have used forensics for over 120 years, but especially more in the twentieth century: major countries
like the United States, France, and the United Kingdom have been using forensics as a mean of
identifying criminals either by photography or DNA fingerprinting. Shows, books, and other
popularized fiction emphasize the scientific aspects of an investigation but do not show the real
limitations of court handed down from the U.S Constitution. There have been new discoveries made

focus on phonics anymore or that starting teachers do not have any understanding of how to teach
phonics. It is an educator s responsibility to implement different teaching approaches to teach their
students phonics in an appropriate way to interpret or comprehend the written codes found in different
words. This essay develops a better understanding of phonics and the various teaching approaches that
teachers can use to teach phonics effectively, toward enhancing motivation and engagement of student
learning.
Phonics focuses on the sound letter relationships used in reading and writing, and involves an
understanding of the alphabetic principle the idea that spoken language is made up of sounds and
these sounds can be mapped to written letters (Hill, 2015, p. 241). Phonics entails developing learners
ability to hear, identify and manipulate phonemes or alphabet knowledge to teach the correspondence
between sounds and spelling patterns that represent them in the written language. For students to learn
to read and spell using phonics they must understand the relationship between sounds (phonemes) of
letters or letter combinations (graphemes) and then remember the specific letter sequences and
patterns used in different speech sounds. Phonics instruction thus focuses on developing

Lonliness In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
Lonliness in Of Mice and Men In John Steinbecks novel Of Mice and Men he tells the story of two
men Lennie and George. Lennie, is a mentally handicap man for whom George cares, they travel farm
to farm working to raise money to buy a place of their own. At their last fateful stop, they meet a
variety of interesting yet very long characters. Steinbeck includes several different themes throughout
this novel however lonliness is one of the most prevelant and is coveyed through the characters in this
novel. The first character we meet is other than Lennie and George is Candy. Candy has no family (as
he told us when George was telling him about the place .) He feels as if no one is on his side, for

Candy also only has one arm so he cannot do much. Candy is also the oldest at the ranch, which
leaves no one else in his age group for him to communicate with. In addition to Candy, Curley s wife,
is another lonely character. Curley s wife has nobody to appreciate her, she experiences a lot of sexism
and no trust. Curley is constantly looking for his wife and always wanting to fight, this causes her to
dislike being on the ranch and having Curley as a husband. She is treated with sexism because when
she s around Curley thinks something s going on , this causes no one to want her around. She tells
Lennie at the end of the book that she doesn t even like Curley. The last character that I am writing
about is Crooks. Crooks is the old black man at the ranch which only few appreciate. He experiences
racism, no one will let him come into the bunkhouse to play cards because he is black, as he mentions
all he has is books. The only person who appears to show any interest to Crooks in the story is Lennie.

How Learning Areas Such As The Arts And Literacies Are...
1. Discuss how learning areas such as the arts and literacies are woven into an integrated curriculum,
with reference to the Aotearoa New Zealand context and Te Whariki (Ministry of education, 1996).
Arts and literacies are woven into an integrated curriculum giving children the ability to problem
solve, communicate without language and express themselves in a verbal and non verbal way. A child
s learning development is influenced by their communication with other children and adults, the
environment, philosophy and the facilities in the centre (Educational Review Office. 2011). Te
Whariki perspective is that a child participates in the arts: for personal, social and cultural purposes,
allowing that child to becoming confident and competent. A child will contribute their individual
abilities and perspectives with others making sense of their worlds (Ministry of Education. 2009).
Te Whariki is an integrated curriculum this is evident by the woven mat (Ministry of Education 1996.
P13) this shows how the arts and literacies can be integrated, throughout the New Zealand curriculum
Te Whariki in a New Zealand context. To form the mat there are four lots of principles which include;
Holistic Development, Empowerment, Family and community and relationships. There are also five
lots of strands including contribution, communication, exploration, well being and belonging. The
principles and strands which are interwoven all support and promote the child s holistic development.

Analysis Of The Movie Orange Is The New Black
The Netflix original series, Orange Is the New Black takes a consumerist approach to sexuality, by
repetitively featuring sexual relations among inmates as a way to attract viewers. (Schwan) Orange Is
the New Black neglects to explore emotional attachment beyond a need to fulfill sexual needs and
minimize loneliness while in prison. Bisexual female characters, if given the opportunity, often leave
their female partner for a relationship with a male, downgrading the realism of an actual bisexual
lifestyle. Although lesbian activity is presented throughout, only women with this body type are
presented in a highly sexualized male gaze viewpoint. (TrierBieniek) The sexual relations presented
display an objectifying, exploitative portrayal of lesbian sexuality. (Schwan) Although, Orange Is the
New Black s cast is exceptionally diverse, the show only films sex scenes between slender inmates.
Ultimately, the show presents LGBTQ characters in a non threatening light, but features bisexuality as
a temporary sexual encounter of convenience.
Orange Is the New Black s prison setting follows a fictional trend of connecting female same sex
desire and mental and criminal pathology. (Filippo) The show s oversexed storyline reinforces society
s stereotypes and female prisoners: that they are violent, worthless, sex crazed monsters. (Cecil) Also,
illustrating bisexuality and other forms of deviant female sexuality are likened more to mental and
criminal deviance. (Filippo) The

Ptolemy s Argument Essay
The motion of Earth is a complicated idea to grasp. Its motion can t be seen with the naked eye or felt
in the way we feel motion from day to day. This, in conjunction with Aristotle s philosophical world
view built on shaky logic and a lack of technology meant that the debate over the motion of the Earth
lasted well into the 19th century. Galileo was able to chip away at some of the arguments using
empirical data. However, the philosophical worldview was able to be adjusted to account for his
discoveries. One of the most basic arguments for a stationary Earth was developed by Aristotle.
Humans can perceive motion through the wind on our faces, the scenery passing by, and other factors.
However, since the motion of the Earth is not observable in the same way other motion is, Aristotle
determined that the Earth was stationary. This among many of his other ideas were used to build a
world view that was in place for thousands of years. Ptolemy built on Aristotle s ideas with his
conclusions regarding the dynamics of an object thrown in the air or dropped from a tower. Ptolemy
notes that when an object is dropped from a height, it falls perpendicular to the ground (DeWitt P. 92).
By Ptolemy s logic, if the Earth was moving, the object would fall behind the initial position; since ...

A Research Study On Unintended Pregnancy
Literature Review
Unintended pregnancy is a great concern in the U.S. with half of all pregnancies are unintended and
unintended pregnancy....(is) highly concentrated among low income women (Frost, J.J., Sonfield, A.,
Zolna, M.R., Finer, L.B., 2014). The goal of family planning services is to help reduce that number,
and also reduce the economic and health risks associated with unplanned pregnancy. The benefits of
family planning services provided by the government are the preventative health services that are
provided, and the cost savings from the reduction of birth related costs.
Better Programs, Better Outcomes
One key way to reduce the number of unplanned pregnancies is through the implementation of
comprehensive family planning programs, and increasing access to these services. The research
conducted for this study compared rates of unintended pregnancy in similar countries and focused on
how contraceptive and family planning care differed in those countries. Bongaarts (2014) researched
how family planning programs can improve the care of patients whose reproductive health needs were
not being me. Bongaarts explains that programs reduce unmet family planning needs by reducing
obstacles to use and by providing access to contraceptive methods and services.... (thus) producing a
rise in the demand for contraception.... . The author goes on to explain that the implementation of
family planning programs, and the increase modern contraceptives

The Theme Of Insanity In Edgar Allan Poe s The Tell-Tale...
Insanity is doing something over and over again, but expecting a different result, is a famous quote
from Albert Einstein. Yes, it is hard to do something over and over again without being bored of it, but
once you are driven insane, there is no going back. Edgar Allan Poe s The Tell Tale Heart introduced
us to one such person, a madman one should assume. One dark and stormy night, there was an old
man and a young man. This young man goes completely insane due to a vulture like eye from the old
man. One night, the young man goes into the chamber of the old man, and plots to kill him. The young
man, clearly driven insane, takes eight nights to finish the job. On this fateful eighth night, the young
man accidentally makes a noise, awaking the old man from his slumber. The light shown in this horrid
eye, and the young man goes completely crazy. The young man swiftly rids of the old man in one fell
swoop, by suffocating him. After the young man disposes of the body, but disassembling the body, and
hiding him under the floorboards, the police shows up. Once the cops step inside the house, the man is
driven insane again. He hears the beating of the old man s heart underneath the floorboards, and
slowly, his mental state starts to degrade. Finally, he snaps, and the ... Show more content on

Imagery of Disease in Hamlet by William Shakespeare Essay
Imagery of Disease in Hamlet by William Shakespeare
The disease imagery in Hamlet serves to constantly remind the reader of the initial problem in the
play: King Hamlet s poisoning by his brother. After hearing his father graphically describe the murder,
it is constantly on Hamlet s mind. For this reason, many of the images that Hamlet creates in the play
are connected with disease and poison. The literal poisoning becomes symbolic of the rest of the
events of the play. Remember that poisoning through the ear can be taken literally or figuratively
(through speech and lies). Look at Polonius s conversation with
Ophelia about Hamlet, Claudius lies to Laertes and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. There are examples
of decay imagery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, he said that it was questionable whether Ophelia took her own life, or accidentially fell in the

I wanted to respond to Tom s posting on Christian imagery in Hamlet. I thought he brought up some
interesting points that I had overlooked in my reading. The idea of the Ghost of Hamlet as a parallel to
the Holy Ghost is obvious to me. I agree with
Tom in his description of what the Holy Ghost (spirit) is meant to be to us Christains.
Along those same lines, the Ghost of Hamlet seems to have the same purpose in this play. He speaks
to Hamlet without ever saying a word. He seems to guide him in his quest to revenge his death. Just as
Christians are taught to feel the presence of the Holy Ghost, Hamlet feels the presence of his father s
Ghost. In the scene where he is argueing with Gertrude, Hamlet stops when he feels his father s ghost.
I believe he indeed felt his presence before he say him. There is no evidence in the text to support my
claim, but it is just an interpretation I have. Another reference I like is our saviour s birth is celebrated
, (1672, line 140).
This also to me shows how King Hamlet is often viewed as Christ like. There seems to be a constant
parallel between Christ and Hamlet

Edgar Allan Poe s Leathery
Streaks of shimmering sunlight filtered through a golden canopy of trees, casting elegant shadows to
dance across the mossy verdure. The lush grass was invested with thriving insects that swarmed on the
ground like an overcrowded marketplace. The crickets made a harmonious song that echoed
throughout the forest, almost in sync with the repetitive calls of exotic animals that were crawling
through shrubbery and soaring high in the leafy giants. Leathery leaves brushed against each other in
the feeble breeze, almost as if they were whispering in hushed tones whilst squirrels ran and frolicked
in the bushes.
A balmy smell lingered in the humid air, mixing with the scent of damp earth. Flowers were dotted
across the luscious forest floor; their enticing fragrance leaving an odd taste in their wake. Vines
twisted up the trees, reaching magnificent heights though some hung down like curtains, hiding parts
of the forest away in darkness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Why Is Henry V A Good King
Henry V was a man of little morals and an aspiration to be a great king, meaning he had to leave the
concept of being a good person far behind him. Henry V is well known for his invasion of France and
being underestimated, but what is not often talked about is the internal struggle that he faced when he
took the throne. It is clear when analyzing the events that he chooses to be a good king over the latter
and this meant having to make some terrible decisions, including the murder of his friend. When
looking at Henry s upbringing, his rise to the throne, and his reign, the events can be seen as to how
Henry chose being a good king over being a good man. Henry s upbringing was not like a normal
child s in today s age would have been. It is his subjectivity that paid the price as the result of being
shaped by a father who was not afraid of murder. When Henry was first born, he was of no real ...

During the 1940s and 1950s preschools, as they became known, began to emerge in middle class
suburbs and were often managed by local parents. During the 1960s and 1970s, some State
Governments became involved in the provision of preschool services. In both Victoria and New South
Wales preschool provision remained largely in the hands of voluntary agencies (Brennan, 1998).
Although preschool provision and operation were widespread, preschools largely failed to meet the
needs of working mothers. A strong push for the provision of child care services to support working

trying to overcome them, and untimely becomes stronger because of it. The reason that mainstream
anime has a trend of being shonen goes back to the primary viewers of mainstream anime being
children. The repetitive and simple plot of shonen anime keeps the children viewers engaged while not
having to follow a complicated plot that goes over their head. Mainstream anime almost always
contain the genre action as well. The majority of mainstream anime today are a combination of the
shonen and action genres. This led to multiple anime that are similar to each other. Some examples are
One Piece, Naruto/Naruto Shippuden, and Dragon Ball Super (which is a continuation of the Dragon
Ball Z series that aired in the 1990s). Mainstream anime also tends to be longer than other anime
having multiple seasons and usually over 50 episodes, in some cases over 700, compared to the most
common 12 episodes in a regular

Disparities In St. Louis City
A number of reports from the Saint Louis Globe Democrat and Saint Louis Post Dispatch showed that
St. Louis city, specifically the areas near Lafayette Park, were struggling (Wiitsruck 2015). According
to The Saint Louis Post Dispatch, The long delay [in building the Distributor] has caused the
neighborhood to deteriorate. Many homeowners were speculating on the City buying their property
from them for the use of the expressway; now property values were plummeting as the threat of
development dissuaded new buyers from purchasing homes. (Wittstruck 2015). In addition to failing
housing markets near the proposed Distributor, there were delays in other highways and an increase in
racial and political tensions (Wittstruck 2015). One individual argued, this [expressway] passes
through the heart of the black area all the way... the reason they chose this route is because the land is
cheaper. But nobody cares what this may do to us. How many more people is this going to uproot?
(Wittstruck 2015). An important note is at the time of these tensions, racial tensions were present in all
of the United States as two champions of racial equality, Martin ... Show more content on

The advantages listed provided two main advantages to the University City area, those advantages
include: a decrease in travel time and traffic congestion relief (Lovelace 1952, 2 3). Consequently, the
expressway would have created six major disadvantages to University City (Lovelace 1952, 3). The
disadvantages include: depreciating the nearby residential area greatly, depreciate the Delmar business
district, local traffic issues, unreasonable costs, removal of the street car system in University city and
increase traffic complications in downtown St. Louis (Lovelace 1952,

Britain and France promise they will help Romania and Greece. Germany think they are going to

The Struggle For Self Occeptance In Boys And Girls By...
Every individual struggle with self acceptance at some point in their life, furthermore, every
individual chooses to exemplify their struggle to accept themselves in different methods. In the short
story Boys and Girls Alice Munro focuses on the narration of a girl, in which girls are
underappreciated in the society. The protagonist in the story cannot accept who she is, and it makes it
harder for her as other individuals do not accept who she wishes to be. The author demonstrates this
through the character s external motivations. As the story is written in third person limited readers
understand the girl s personal thoughts and how she is internally conflicted about who she is. She feels
underappreciated for the work that she provides which influences her to be disobedient to others
around her. Alice Munroe s short story Boys and Girls demonstrates to readers that individuals
struggle for self acceptance through the expression of their external and internal motivations. Because
of their motivations, individuals feel rebellious against their self conscience.
Many individuals feel influenced from their relatives or friends to act and be a certain way to be
accepted in their society, this causes them to react and respond in a certain way. In the short story
Boys and Girls , the protagonist struggles to gain self acceptance because of other people around her
influencing the ways in which she should live. The girl much prefers to work outside with her dad as
she finds the

Carrie Chapman Catt Research Paper
Peterson 1
Carrie Chapman Catt, one of the most influential women of the nineteen twenties, was born on
January 9, 1859. After living a meaningful life she died with integrity on March 9, 1947.
Carrie Clinton Lane was born in Ripon, Wisconsin to her parents Lucius and Maria. Carrie was the
second born of the three children that Lucius and Maria conceived. She graduated High School in
1877, after her family moved to Charles City, Iowa when she turned seven. After High School, Carrie
worked hard to get herself an education. She financed her way through college washing dishes,
working in the school library, and teaching. Finally, in 1880, she graduated as the only woman in her
class and the highest ranking from Iowa Agricultural College and ... Show more content on

The marriage with Mr. Catt allowed her to travel due to his support morally and financially; thus
leading to her national involvement with NAWSA (National American Woman Suffrage Association).
Becoming notorious for her writing and speeches, Catt spoke at the Washington D.C convention for
NAWSA, and later, as requested by Susan B. Anthony, Congress. These were major accomplishments
that led to Ms. Anthony s decision to choose Ms. Catt as her successor of NAWSA. From there on
Catt spent the majority of her time organizing women at campaigns, and educating them with her
speeches. With her newfound political experience Catt longed to broaden her horizons to an
international level. Accordingly, she organized the International Woman Suffrage Alliance (IWSA).
This new role led her to step down from her position as the president of NAWSA to work with the
thirty two nations involved with IWSA.
Her resignation in 1904 was consequently founded by her sickened husband. She spent a year caring
for him before his death in 1905. From there to 1907 Catt was anguished with the numerous deaths
that followed, Her close friend Susan B. Anthony passed away in 1906, followed by her younger
brother, William in 1907, and finally her mother. Notwithstanding, Catt

Sisterhood Is For Everybody Chapter Summaries
Feminism, a movement with the goal of equality between women and men is often misunderstood or
thought unnecessary. In the book Feminism is for Everybody, the movement of feminism and why it
still exists today is explained. One of the main aspects that keep feminism alive is sisterhood females
bonding together for a like purpose. In chapter three, Sisterhood is Still Powerful . Bell Hooks uses an
anecdote, chronological order, and ethos to give a background on feminism and inform the audience
on what threatens female unity today.
The start of the third chapter begins with an anecdote of the author s experiences with the feminist
movement in college. Her story lays out the scene of what a coeducational college class was like in the
early 70s. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A chronologically ordered format gives the audience context of how feminism developed so they can
understand −−where it stands today. After Hooks discusses the effects of feminism in the early 70s
with the help of an anecdote, she proceeds to write about what happens to the movement later on. As
more women begin to opportunistically lay claim to feminism in the 80s without undergoing the
feminist consciousness raising... (16). In the 80s more divisions between feminists came up due to
differences in class and some walked away from feminism. What happened in the 80s is then
connected to present day. Political solidarity between woman which had been the force putting in
place positive change has been and is now consistently undermined and threatened (17). By giving
background information, Hooks is able to explain how sisterhood is still strong but is endangered by
class divisions. Overall, the chapter shows where feminists succeeded and where it had problems what
worked and what did not. The evolution of feminism is explained in a way which is more easily
understood due to its sequential

The Case Of Fisher V. University Of Texas At Austin Essay
Writing in opinion of the court in the case of Fisher V. University of Texas at Austin (II). This case had
been previously heard by the Supreme Court resulting in a 7 1 decision that explained the University
had no grounds to apply any preference to racial minorities in the application or the acceptance
process. The case was reopened at both the fifth circuit court and the Supreme Court. There will be
seven justices presiding over this case, with the death of Justice Antonin Scalia and Justice Elena
Kagan recusing herself. The question of making admission decisions on the basis of race had been
debated before in the Supreme Court, in the case of Grutter v. Bollinger. The University of Michigan
Law School had denied the admission of Barbara Grutter, a white female. The Law School admits that
it uses race as a factor in making admissions decisions because it serves a compelling interest in
achieving diversity among its student body. The court ruled in favor of the University of Michigan,
because no single factor eliminated a certain applicant from being denied admission and race was seen
as a factor that would help diversity in the law school. This case was referred to in the discussion
phase of this hearing. In the case, the plaintiff accused UT at Austin of racially discriminating against
her in the application and acceptance process. Under the first application procedure that lasted up until
1997, two factors were taken into consideration, the applicant s performance in

  • 2. Mental Health Issues In Social Media 2.2 The situation now Looking back at how the stigma surrounding mental illness impact on people in results of media portrayal, there is an urgent need in reducing stigma and raising awareness in order to prevent social discrimination of people with mental illness and to encourage those with mental illness to speak up what they are going through. Patrick Corrigan Illinois Institute of Technology psychologist stated that it was as bad as it is 20 years ago (Yuhas, 2014). Benefiting the convenience of social media in our today s world, Betton, Borschmann, Docherty, Coleman, Brown and Henderson (2015), taking into account the capability of social media in overcoming this matter. Nevertheless, instead of focusing on being aware of mental illness, they are terrified of it. Repeated use of negative and inaccurate images of mentally ill individuals, mental health professionals and also psychotherapy leads the society to discriminate these group of people. This problem is getting worst from time to time and it needs to be reduce. The incorporation of campaign in social media as a medium to raise awareness regarding this matter I seen as a promising avenue in stigma reduction as it improves the condition, hence breaking down the stereotypes (Research and Development Cooperation, 2012). One of the latest campaigns done by The National Alliance on Mental Illness of New York City which is #IWILLLISTEN, has a positive feedback. If more people join in raising consciousness about this matter, there will be an opportunity for the everyone to change public attitudes towards mental health through social media ... Before getting back up after you fall you have to gather all your strength and push whatever made you fall harder.Every time you fall the same solution might not work so you have to be stubborn and keep an attitude that tells your challenger Try your best shot, and that if you fall you won t be gone for long.People overcome obstacles in less than three ways the three ways are by keeping a positive attitude, being determined, and lastly being a creative problem solver. First,in ways, people overcome obstacles is keeping a positive attitude since when you have a positive attitude you are harder to discourage. An example of positive attitude while facing adversity would be in the text A work in progress where Aimee Mullin faces her adversity with humor like when she broke her wooden leg and while all the other people in that room were freaking out all she could think about was that her parents were going to kill her.I chose this example because out of all the stories we read in class about facing adversity Aimee Mullin struck me as the most positive about her obstacle. It s important because it shows my point that with a positive attitude you don t get discouraged as easily and like Aimee Mullin you can achieve whatever you wish no matter your adversity.Another example from A work in progress that shows positive attitude would be when Aimee Mullin got her new legs and was stating all the good qualities about her legs instead of being like oh I don t this about them or ... If you file a restraining order against someone, they are not allowed to contact you, or be in a certain distance of you. You on the other hand, can freely contact them without violating the restraining order. While you can legally contact them, it is highly advised not to unless absolutely necessary. Restraining orders are put in place for a reason, and contacting the person you have filed one against may throw suspicion on your motives. Enough contact and the one you filed a restraining order against can go to court to get the restraining order terminated. To me, the most interesting chapter of the film is Dead Peasants. Moore talked about capitalism is a system of giving and taking, mostly taking . In my opinion, it sounds true for me. Moore illustrated Irma Johnson s husband Dan ironic case. Who recently died of cancer, leaving behind Irma and their two sons. They filmed the woman cried and sadly talked about her husband. Her husband worked in middle management at Amegy Bank in Houston, Texas. Amegy had taken out a secret life insurance policy on Dan s life. The bank generously named itself as the beneficiary in the event of Dan s death. Dan s death made them $1.5 million richer by the insurance company accidentally informed Irma that Amegy Bank had received a check for $1.5 million just weeks after Dan died. Irma Johnson cried in pain that she didn t know anything and they never told her. Why the company try to profit from employee s death?. How are these companies able to get away with this?. While my grandfather stood in the giant shadow of a 30 foot armed tower, 500 acres of Californian dessert enclosed nearly 12,000 Japanese Americans. In 1942, President Franklin D. When armed police went door to door rounding up Japanese Americans and ordering them straight to the camps as my grandfather asserted, America s national fear was exploited. My grandfather at the age of sixteen, lost his home, his family, and notably continued to face several obstacles postwar. Thousands of Japanese Americans during the 1940 s, including Ichiro in John Okada s No No Boy, have had their lives reshaped by new territories, boundaries and inner conflicts. The lost of family and friends was prevalent as racial prejudices intensified throughout the nation. While thousands of innocent families were victimized in the Japanese interment camps and imprisonments during WWII, the overwhelming distress led to corrupt relationships and inner turmoil. Rationality helps control our emotions and prevents them from getting too out of hand. There are three texts from seminar that demonstrate this idea of emotional power: The Aeneid by Virgil, The Oresteia by Aeschylus, and Sappho by Sappho. Hemingway depicts the harsh war with sensory but blunt details. His expression of words has an emotional appeal on the reader, allowing his or her to put themselves in the shoes of any character. For example, on page 73 Hemingway writes, There was sunlight coming through the shutters. I saw the big armoire, the bare walls, and two chairs. A common misconception is that teachers do not focus on phonics anymore or that starting teachers do not have any understanding of how to teach phonics. It is an educator s responsibility to implement different teaching approaches to teach their students phonics in an appropriate way to interpret or comprehend the written codes found in different words. This essay develops a better understanding of phonics and the various teaching approaches that teachers can use to teach phonics effectively, toward enhancing motivation and engagement of student learning. Phonics focuses on the sound letter relationships used in reading and writing, and involves an understanding of the alphabetic principle the idea that spoken language is made up of sounds and these sounds can be mapped to written letters (Hill, 2015, p. 241). Phonics entails developing learners ability to hear, identify and manipulate phonemes or alphabet knowledge to teach the correspondence between sounds and spelling patterns that represent them in the written language. For students to learn to read and spell using phonics they must understand the relationship between sounds (phonemes) of letters or letter combinations (graphemes) and then remember the specific letter sequences and patterns used in different speech sounds. Phonics instruction thus focuses on developing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Discuss how learning areas such as the arts and literacies are woven into an integrated curriculum, with reference to the Aotearoa New Zealand context and Te Whariki (Ministry of education, 1996). Arts and literacies are woven into an integrated curriculum giving children the ability to problem solve, communicate without language and express themselves in a verbal and non verbal way. A child s learning development is influenced by their communication with other children and adults, the environment, philosophy and the facilities in the centre (Educational Review Office. 2011). Te Whariki perspective is that a child participates in the arts: for personal, social and cultural purposes, allowing that child to becoming confident and competent. A child will contribute their individual abilities and perspectives with others making sense of their worlds (Ministry of Education. 2009). Te Whariki is an integrated curriculum this is evident by the woven mat (Ministry of Education 1996. P13) this shows how the arts and literacies can be integrated, throughout the New Zealand curriculum Te Whariki in a New Zealand context. To form the mat there are four lots of principles which include; Holistic Development, Empowerment, Family and community and relationships. • 24. Analysis Of The Movie Orange Is The New Black The Netflix original series, Orange Is the New Black takes a consumerist approach to sexuality, by repetitively featuring sexual relations among inmates as a way to attract viewers. (Schwan) Orange Is the New Black neglects to explore emotional attachment beyond a need to fulfill sexual needs and minimize loneliness while in prison. Bisexual female characters, if given the opportunity, often leave their female partner for a relationship with a male, downgrading the realism of an actual bisexual lifestyle. Although lesbian activity is presented throughout, only women with this body type are presented in a highly sexualized male gaze viewpoint. (TrierBieniek) The sexual relations presented display an objectifying, exploitative portrayal of lesbian sexuality. (Schwan) Although, Orange Is the New Black s cast is exceptionally diverse, the show only films sex scenes between slender inmates. Ultimately, the show presents LGBTQ characters in a non threatening light, but features bisexuality as a temporary sexual encounter of convenience. Orange Is the New Black s prison setting follows a fictional trend of connecting female same sex desire and mental and criminal pathology. (Filippo) The show s oversexed storyline reinforces society s stereotypes and female prisoners: that they are violent, worthless, sex crazed monsters. • 28. Ptolemy s Argument Essay The motion of Earth is a complicated idea to grasp. Its motion can t be seen with the naked eye or felt in the way we feel motion from day to day. This, in conjunction with Aristotle s philosophical world view built on shaky logic and a lack of technology meant that the debate over the motion of the Earth lasted well into the 19th century. Galileo was able to chip away at some of the arguments using empirical data. However, the philosophical worldview was able to be adjusted to account for his discoveries. One of the most basic arguments for a stationary Earth was developed by Aristotle. Humans can perceive motion through the wind on our faces, the scenery passing by, and other factors. However, since the motion of the Earth is not observable in the same way other motion is, Aristotle determined that the Earth was stationary. This among many of his other ideas were used to build a world view that was in place for thousands of years. Ptolemy built on Aristotle s ideas with his conclusions regarding the dynamics of an object thrown in the air or dropped from a tower. Ptolemy notes that when an object is dropped from a height, it falls perpendicular to the ground (DeWitt P. 92). The benefits of family planning services provided by the government are the preventative health services that are provided, and the cost savings from the reduction of birth related costs. Better Programs, Better Outcomes One key way to reduce the number of unplanned pregnancies is through the implementation of comprehensive family planning programs, and increasing access to these services. Yes, it is hard to do something over and over again without being bored of it, but once you are driven insane, there is no going back. Imagery of Disease in Hamlet by William Shakespeare Essay Imagery of Disease in Hamlet by William Shakespeare The disease imagery in Hamlet serves to constantly remind the reader of the initial problem in the play: King Hamlet s poisoning by his brother. After hearing his father graphically describe the murder, it is constantly on Hamlet s mind. For this reason, many of the images that Hamlet creates in the play are connected with disease and poison. The literal poisoning becomes symbolic of the rest of the events of the play. Remember that poisoning through the ear can be taken literally or figuratively (through speech and lies). I agree with Tom in his description of what the Holy Ghost (spirit) is meant to be to us Christains. Along those same lines, the Ghost of Hamlet seems to have the same purpose in this play. He speaks to Hamlet without ever saying a word. He seems to guide him in his quest to revenge his death. Just as Christians are taught to feel the presence of the Holy Ghost, Hamlet feels the presence of his father s Ghost. In the scene where he is argueing with Gertrude, Hamlet stops when he feels his father s ghost. I believe he indeed felt his presence before he say him. There is no evidence in the text to support my claim, but it is just an interpretation I have. Another reference I like is our saviour s birth is celebrated , (1672, line 140). This also to me shows how King Hamlet is often viewed as Christ like. There seems to be a constant parallel between Christ and Hamlet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The case was reopened at both the fifth circuit court and the Supreme Court. There will be seven justices presiding over this case, with the death of Justice Antonin Scalia and Justice Elena Kagan recusing herself.
