Essay about Glycolic Acid
Glycolic acid is a group of chemicals known as alpha hydroxyl acids or fruit acids. It is mainly
derived from sugar cane, and hence it is a natural product. The citric acid found in oranges and other
citrus fruits also come under the same division as glycolic acids. The glycolic acid acne treatment can
be effectively used to treat some cases of acne.
Glycolic acid is mostly used in cosmetic forms rather than industrial. It is usually used as a skin
exfoliant and a moisturizer. Some proponents of glycolic acid state that the products which contain
less than 10% concentration of glycolic acid is rendered useless. The government considers the use of
glycolic acid over the 10% concentration can prove to be a dangerous material and this is ... Show

These chemical peels can also be used for improving the appearance of the skin which is damaged by
previous acne scarring.
Characteristics of glycolic acid
Glycolic acid acne therapy is basically derived from sugar cane. It is a member of the alpha hydroxyl
family of ingredients which are used in skin care and cosmetic treatments. the glycolic acid is an
important part of the light chemical peels, used by the skin specialists to loosen the black heads and
also reduce the number of papules which are caused due to acne. Glycolic acid is also used in
superficial to moderate chemical peels which are used to remove the acne damaged tissues to allow a
new and fresh skin to appear.
Effects of glycolic acid acne treatment
Glycolic acid can make the skin sensitive than normal. This is why it is best to always test a small area
of the skin before you start using the glycolic acid acne treatment on your skin.
Glycolic acid exfoliates the skin. The glycolic acid travels deep below the acne blemishes and breaks
down the dead skin cells that are clogging the pores.
Glycolic acid also has an ability to moisturize your skin after it removes the dead skin cells. This
allows the acne prone skin to remain moisturized and prevent drying out and promoting more
production of more oil to compensate for the moisture that was lost in the treatment process.
When you are using the glycolic acid acne products, prevent sun exposure on your skin or

The Center And Yorkdale Mall
The socioeconomic significance of malls is seen through visual culture, where the mall has become a
place to meet up with friends and family, on any day of the week weekends being the busiest. Hence
the mall has become a centre of life, where the most memorable moments, holidays and birthdays are
spent, dinners are held all under one roof (Stokrocki 80). In Toronto the two largest malls I explored
were the Toronto Eaton s Centre and Yorkdale Mall both of which included over 200 stores, eateries,
rainforest cafés, and a movie theatre. However what was evident about these two malls apart from the
rest included anti social behaviours despite families being grouped together. Although people were
together, the sense of togetherness was plastic just like the manikins of store displays. It appeared as
though families were shopping just as an excuse to go out as a family even though children, teens and
adults would disperse into the stores of their choice and meet up at the end for a takeout meal,
contacting each other through their phones. In addition to this observation included the fact that
families shopping with other families or family friends were more of an exploitation of social and
economic class. People being able to spend at stores like Michael Kors, Coach, Tory Burch,
Abercrombie Fitch, Lululemon, Kate Spade and many more, without worrying about going over
budget meant being affluent. What really needs to be questioned is the idea that if these people spend

School Violence
Finding a Solution to School Violence
Anita Lopez

School is a place where children should go to learn, educate themselves, make lifelong friends and
most importantly they should feel safe. The violence in schools has increased over the years and many
schools aren t sure how to handle this growing problem in an appropriate manner. School violence
may come in various forms and some of the most common forms of school violence include physical
abuses, bullying, brawl and verbal abuses but the most common forms are physical abuses and
bullying. Schools administrators and teachers should deal with each situation individually, they should

Suspensions can lead to delinquency because some of the students may end up dropping out of school.
The risk of subsequent violence increases when violent students are transferred repeatedly from one
school to another (Finley, 2011). Students that drop out of school because of expulsion or suspension
are more likely to associate with deviant peers because they have more unstructured time and this can
become another problem.
Schools should take proactive approaches when dealing with school violence, but mediating in
conflicts and counselling indiscipline students are just reactive measures that may end up doing very
little to end school violence (Finley, 2011). The success or failure of counseling and mediation also
depends on the qualifications and training of the people in charge of such programs.
As the saying goes it takes a village to raise a child , it will be a great deed for all of society to help
with this ongoing problem of school violence. It is in a parent s best interest to play a big role in their
child s life. A child learns from examples and by watching as others do.
A collective effort that includes parents, teachers and school administrators and the entire community
is needed to effectively deal with the problem of school violence. School violence is to a large extent
influenced by parents, but most of the blame is normally put on

Criminology
Criminology Coursework Assessing the riots... Criminology is focused on the attempt to understand
the meanings involved in social interaction. Theorists have tried to explain sociological behaviour by
looking at the patterns created by individuals that commit crime. The August 2011 riots are pivotal in
explaining criminological behaviour since official statistics show that 865 individuals were put in
prison by the 9th September 2011 for offences related to the disorder between 6th and 9th August
2011. This is not to say that others were not involved, but that they have simply not been identified to
date and may never be identified, however the evidence we do have about the recent riots gives us
plenty to talk about. This essay will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Becker deviance is a consequence of the application by others of rules and sanctions to
an offender . Becker came to the conclusion that people are criminalised through the process of
negotiation, known to be social constructionism for example the Crown Prosecution Service may drop
the charge of murder to manslaughter if there is not enough evidence to convict for murder. By doing
this the defendant becomes labelled for the crime of manslaughter even though he may truly be guilty
of murder. By introducing what could be regarded as petty legislation more people will be labelled
criminals, which in turn may lead the offender to act further on this basis. Lemert referred to this as
secondary deviance as when a person is labelled criminal they change their view of themselves and
this then becomes their master status . On the other hand primary deviance is when someone violates a
social code, but does not get labelled. Therefore a person is only labelled a criminal if he is caught and
since ethnic minorities are subject to much more scrutiny than the white population this puts black
people at an automatic disadvantage. Following the inquiry into the death of Stephen Lawrence it was
uncovered that the police are institutionally racist. Institutional racism can be defined as the collective
failure of an organisation to provide an appropriate and professional service to the people

Social Deviance And Social Deviance
Social deviance is considered a broad term, it tends to describe actions or behaviors that violate
society s norms. Norms, in a simple context, are rules by, which members of society are expected to
conform to. When it comes to discussing the term deviance, it tends to mean a person s failure to
conform to unspoken rules established by society. Social deviance can have many forms and
interpretations. Deviant acts are primarily relative to the setting because deviance in one place could
be considered non deviance in another place. Theft, violence, murder, or any kind of criminal
behavior, can be considered either deviant or non deviant, depending on the context. It s coming up to
countries, establishments, and governing bodies to determine, which acts are and aren t acceptable. An
example, could be murdering someone for drugs is not acceptable, but murdering someone in an act of
self defense is. It can be concluded, all acts of deviance are subjected to review and accepted on the
condition that it fits what society holds acceptable. Acts of deviance can result in some very positive
outcomes.(Why is this here?) Everyone has unconsciously committed an act of deviance, in addition,
have conformed to society s norms, as well. A un establish rule in society is to always pay for one s
food prior to consumption. However, I do not always conform to this social norm. For example, when
I go grocery shopping I tend to consume food that has not been purchased, yet, while walking

West Point Conference Report
In early October, we (Graham and Nosheen) were invited to attend the 68th Annual Student
Conference on U.S. Affairs at the United States Military Academy at West Point. As the conference
was scheduled to start the day after Election Day, the overarching theme, and title, of the conference,
Democracy and Democratization: Challenges and Opportunities, seemed incredibly relevant. The four
day conference addressed challenges and obstacles facing the nation. Civilian student delegates us and
West Point delegates engaged in comprehensive discussion to better tackle these issues, which
culminated in a brief policy proposal. Student delegates were divided into topic based groups in their
particular field of interest. The topics ranged from the future of the EU to challenges of democracy to
political radicalism to ethno religious conflict. The groups deliberated over their respective issues,
keeping in mind the overarching theme of the conference. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The student delegates were hosted by cadets in the Barracks (dorms), closely witnessing their daily
routine. We soon discovered that each cadet had an incredible passion for their education and service

China, wanted to repay the nation with her service, claiming that she would not be where she is had
she not been adopted. Others had family histories of military service. We realized that every second
the cadets spent at West Point was already a form of service to the nation, which they were aware and

Max Weber And Modern Capitalism
Max Weber (1864 1920), like the sociologists before him, was interested in capitalism. However, he
was interested in what he dubbed Modern Capitalism and how it came to be. Instead of just looking at
the effects of this theory, he contemplated on what allowed it to take place. To an extent, he agrees
with Karl Marx on modern capitalism ability to form, but he takes it a step beyond economic
conditions and adds the element of social/ religious conditions. Weber developed what he called the
spirit of capitalism, which looks at modern capitalism and shows what makes modern capitalism
different from speculative, commercial, adventurous, and political capitalism. He noted that in this
type of capitalism people have a mentality that they need to make as much money as possible, which
requires a particular frame of mind that ... strives systematically and rationally in a calling for
legitimate profit (Weber, 2009, The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism, Pg. 80). Thus the
mentality went from working to live to live to work. It was this new ethic that separated modern
capitalism from the rest.
When looking at the features that allowed capitalism to come to fruition, Weber noted that a cause and
effect relationship needs to occur. Weber, like Marx considered objective factors that contributed to
the rise of capitalism. Marx believed that the successful emergence of a new system was made
possible by changes in the economic world. The influx of precious metals from

Woodticks In Saskatoon By Joy Kogawa Summary
dtick Questions In the poem the speaker s daughter is being mocked by some white children for being
Japanese. The speaker then has a flashback to her time living in Slocan. She remembers the time when
the other white kids made fun of her and she ran into the forest to hide. When she reaches deep into
the forest, she then listens for the voices of the kids to guide her back onto the path, and she vows to
never go near the mountain alone again. Then she flash forwards back to the present and she reassures
her daughter that they do not have woodticks in Saskatoon. From reading the poem it can be

However, upon reading the poem and the uses of the title within in the text we can also see the
allusion drawn to Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream, in which there is also a wall within Act
V. In this act, the characters of Thisbe and Pyramus, who are lovers, are separated by a wall and are
only able to communicate through a hole in the wall. Eventually their love for each other proves to be
too strong and the wall then leaves. Parallels that can be drawn to the poem includes whispering
through loose bricks , a reference to the hole in the wall in the play, also when the word dream is used
in the third stanza references the title of the play, while the voice... from the wall can be compared to
the talking wall in the play. The significance of these allusions in the title is that they reinforce the
overall arching theme of the poem that there are always ways past obstacles or barriers and where
these hindrances are, people will always be looking to overcome them. On a literal level, the author
Joy Kogawa explores the various methods to evade a wall. She suggests ,through a door, sneaking,
torturing, bombs, zeppelins, battering rams, whispering through a hole in the wall. All of these are
methods which can work, but the one way we sometimes fail to realize

Saber The Hero s Journey
In The Search, by Naguib Mahfouz, the protagonist, Saber, brings forth the question of what it means
to be a genuine hero. After being thrust into a world of uncertainty, he sets off on a search to find his
father. Yet, it is quickly apparent that Saber lacks the qualities to be a hero in the traditional sense.
While Saber does experience a portion of expected heroic like events, he fails to be a typical hero
because of his inability to overcome his transgressions and maintain conventional heroic attributes. He
does, however, partially make his amends as an anti hero.
According to Joseph Cambell s Hero s Journey, there is a standard set of actions that transpires in

This idea is supported in The Search, by how Elham serves as both a foil to Saber s character and a
symbol of improvement for him. To clarify, up until this point it is clear that Saber (in his unheroic
like fashion) is mainly relying on others to complete his search. In Cairo, he finally places an
advertisement for his father, though in perspective, it means the success of his search practically
depends on his father seeing the advertisement and responding to it. Saber makes no further attempts
to even narrow down his father s possible occupation or location. In contrast, Elham cultivates her
own future, acquiring a higher education while working as a clerk, a noteworthy feat for a woman in
her times. Saber, the supposed hero, however is unwilling to accommodate for a more reliable and
realistic life. When Elham questions why he does not work he responds, any work I do must come
through my father. It s worthless otherwise (372). And later when she actually offers to find him
possible job opportunities his excuse is only, there s nothing I know how to do (407). Though the

My Thoughts On The Fear Of Heights
I can hear the sound of my repeating alarm as it starts fading in louder into my ears, waiting for it to
be turned off. I slowly open my eyes to see the light from outside peeking in through my window
blinds hinting to me that it is now morning. I stretch my arms and legs as much as I can, feeling as if I
am the rope in the game of tug of war and two people are pulling me from opposite sides. I can sense
the excitement in my heart of what I am going to do today something that I have never, but always,
wanted to do. I already imagine how I will feel after today: the adrenaline rush, the overwhelming
confidence, the satisfaction. Today, I am going to cliff jump for the first time; today, I will conquer my
fear of heights; today, I promise that this decision is immutable. I shut off all five of my alarms and
look at the time on my phone; it is 9:30 a.m. I text my friends, waiting for them to pick me up.
Meanwhile, I wash up and get ready for a day that I will remember. The sound of my phone
obnoxiously goes off and I rush over to pick up the call from my friend, Johnny, telling me to hurry up
and come out the house. I scan my room one last time, check my bag, making sure I have everything I
need and head out the door. I open the car door and see my other friends, Brian, Rachel, and Moses, as
they greet me with a hello. Heading over to Abalone Cove, a popular cliff jumping place and tide

Consumer s Perception of a Brand Image Incredibly Relevant
CHANGE THEIR PERCEPTION
Consumer s perception of a brand image such as Microsoft is incredibly relevant in terms of a positive
perception on a brand leads on to a positive perception of a product and therefore, Microsoft can
successful market to students. Currently consumers main perception on Windows 8 directly correlates
to their perception on Microsoft, and at the moment it is not as strong as their competitors brand
perception and culture.
Microsoft has to successfully alter their perception to not only be a positive perception, but a

Students have the need to blend in and stand out at the same time, they want to be fashion forward and
knowledgeable it is up to Microsoft to persuade their target market that Microsoft is modern and
fashion forward. Engaging generation Y will increase a consumer s perception regarding Windows 8
and can make it feel personally relevant to them.
MOTIVATION IS KEY
In order to successfully market Windows 8, Microsoft has to motivate students to make the effort to be
interested in Microsoft. Lyengar and Lepper (2000) point out that a lack of motivation can cause
consumers to either defer the decision, search for alternatives, choose a default option or simply opt
not to choose. All of these options do not favour Microsoft in any way. Deferring the decision or not
making the decision at all reduces Microsoft s presence and exposure to the market because this
means that consumers are not willing to go that extra step to research Microsoft. Microsoft also does
not want consumers to opt for the default option, due to Apple s immense brand image and popularity,
especially to students Apple has become the protypical brand leader which only diminishes Microsoft
s perception with consumers. Motivation is highly affected from external competitors such as Apple s
iOS and Google s Android operating systems.
Microsoft should aim to create motivation for students and young consumers to become interested in
Windows 8 via university events. The open days are

Daisy Buchanan In The Great Gatsby
In the blistering winds of Antarctica, there lays a creature that relies on true love to survive. The
penguin, is a flightless bird that has aquatic capabilities and is unbothered by the frigid temperature of
its habitat. Interestingly the penguin is one of the few animals that are monogamous; In fact, they can
die from a broken heart after their chosen mate dies. These animalistic characteristics seem to be
portrayed throughout Gatsby s character, he acts in manner as if Daisy were to not love him, he would

Response to His Coy Mistress Essay
Response to His Coy Mistress Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress is the charming depiction of a
man who has seemingly been working very hard at seducing his mistress. Owing to Marvell s use of
the word coy, we have a clear picture of the kind of woman his mistress is. She has been encouraging
his advances to a certain point, but then when he gets too close, she backs off, and resists those same
advances. Evidently, this has been going on for quite some time, as Marvell now feels it necessary to
broach the topic in this poem. He begins in the first stanza by gently explaining that his mistress s
coyness would not be a crime if there were world enough, and time… (l.2). He compares his love to a

We are left with no doubt as to what the fate of the lovers will be, as well as the state of his own
feelings for her: then worms shall try That long preserved virginity, And your quaint honor turn to
dust, And into ashes all my lust (ll. 26 30). These lines seem a bit morbid, but I also sense the use of
horror, on Marvell s part, to further convince his mistress to succumb to his affections. He is basically
telling her that if she continues to resist him, it will be the worms that remove her virginity from her,
as opposed to someone who really cares about her, namely him. He also reminds her that the honor
that she is clinging to so tightly to will mean nothing when worms know her intimately. Further, his
feelings for her will be utterly gone. The second stanza ends with these lines, my favorite: The grave s
a fine and private place, / But none I think do there embrace. This ironic statement provides the
crowning argument: Marvell has just described a love that would be timeless if such a thing were
allowed. With a love such as this how can they let time slip through their fingers, and justify it? This
also provides the second, and perhaps more important theme in the poem. The message is that the
lovers, and consequently we who read the poem, should use the time we have been given to the best of
our advantage. In the case of Marvell and his mistress, they should use the time to clutch at the love
that is there in

A mothers first priority is their children and when he or she becomes sick, she tries her best to cure
their child. In the story, the mother gives all she can to get her child back from Death, but in the end
she must let go of her child for its sake. One cannot explain the pain of losing their child, but the pain
a mother receives when she has a choice between giving her child away willingly or having the child
to live a miserable life with her is unexplainable. A woman who has been taking care of her son for
three days, rests only for a moment and in that single moment her child is taken away from her by
Death. The woman believes she can bring her child back from Death, but by the end of the story, she
prays for the child to be gone into the God s kingdom and away from all the misery. Although the
mother wants her child back to her, she values other mothers as well and does not wish to harm their
children. As the mother threatens to pick two flowers, Death warns her that other woman will suffer as
she is, and she quickly withdraws from flowers, despite knowing Death may not listen to her
commands of giving the child back. But in the midst of this, the mother is hurt and miserable without
her child, but she must give the child away for its happiness. Hence, the theme of motherhood is

The Correlation Between Amounts Of Time Spent Playing...
What is the relationship between the amounts of time spent playing video games and your amount of
sleep?
Introduction
Nearly every day, you can read articles about urbanized countries throughout the world, with issues or
concerns arising from individuals playing video games for excessive amounts of time. Individuals
form addictions to a surge in excessive or violent behaviors, commonly found among teens or younger
children. Studies also indicate playing excessive amounts of video games can also have an effect on
your sleeping patterns in a negative way. For instance, playing an extreme amount of video games
prior to going to bed may create a more difficult time in falling asleep. So, I decided to take on a
similar yet different type of study to discover out how much video gaming an average high schooler
plays each night and how this may affect how many hours of sleep he/she receives. I was unable to
find any online articles for this type of study, so I decided to find out for myself using the high school
population at a local school. As the study began, I did believe that students who participated in
excessive video gaming may receive less sleep.
Statement of Task
The focus of this study was to investigate if the amount of time students spend playing video games
each evening may have an influence on the quantity of sleep the average high school student receives.
To determine this, I requested teachers to allow me to survey students during school hours in an

Skills, and attributes of all the management should be parallel to the responsibilities and roles assigned
to them for talent management.
Companies try to align their products and services according to market conditions and segmentation.
The two approaches which are used by most of the companies are either market oriented or product
oriented. It can be added here that market approach is more focused for how the products should be
introduced to the market. It s about how the products and services are being portrayed and advertised
in order to attract the consumers. Product orientation, on the other hand, is focused on methods
through which products are bettered for the consumers. The system and research which can be utilized
to help improve the product are used in the process. Both the approaches are significant in their own
unique way. It s important to understand the significance of market segmentation and hence, extensive
research is required. Since the market has gotten competitive, range and preference is also observed.
For product orientation, technological and safety factors are some important elements used
(Osarenkhoe, 2008). This is done to help consumers enjoy the products in a way that s not offered
before. That, by introducing new features or technology in the products.

Position in the Market
The company s ability to pay is less than that of its competitors and will remain constrained until the
company can establish a reputation and gain a share of the market (Cascio, 2013, p. 420), so the
company should position itself carefully in the market. LL should allocate 25% of its budget for salary
and benefits and use performance incentives, merit based pay to keep fixed labor costs low. LL should
pay employees $9.33 per hour, which is $19,406 per year and is $2 per hour less than industry average
for Austin, Texas. The company should pay management a salary 5% higher than employees to
maintain the balance of compensation rates (Cascio, 2013, pp. 423 424). The company should use
additional benefits, performance based incentives, and merit pay to attract, retain, and motivate
employees who share the company s vision and goals (Cascio, 2013, p. 423).
Total Compensation and Benefits Strategy The total compensation and benefits strategy of the
company should place an emphasis on compensation through incentives with a reduced fixed labor
cost. If the company is successful, employees receive additional compensation and if the company is
experiencing difficulty gaining a market share or if there is an economic downturn, the company has a
reduced labor cost (Cascio, 2013, p. 420). The company should not use pay grades because of hybrid

Prosecutors’ Charging Decisions in Sexual Assault Cases
Prosecutors Charging Decisions in Sexual Assault Cases
June 8, 2012
Case screening is the gateway to the criminal justice system. Prosecutors, acting as gatekeepers,
decide which instances of alleged victimization will be passed on for adjudication by the courts
(Frohmann, 1991, p. 213). As Supreme Court Justice Jackson acknowledged in 1940, the prosecutor
has more control over life, liberty, and reputation than any other person in America (Davis, 1969,
p.190). Frohmann examined the powerful discretion prosecutors have in their justification for sexual
assault case rejections in her research article, Discrediting Victim s allegations of Sexual Assault:

Spohn, Beichner, and Davis Frenzel do not conduct a field study as Frohmann does, instead they
examined all sexual assault cases cleared by arrest in Miami Florida in 1997. They did however
replicate Frohmann s design of interviewing a sample of the prosecutors who handled the cases. By
using this different method of research, Spohn, Beichner, and Davis Frenzel s are able to show the
frequency in which prosecutors used discrepant accounts and ulterior motives to reject cases. This
extends upon Frohmann s research. Their findings that, charging decisions primarily reflect the
prosecutor s assessment of the likelihood of conviction (Spohn, et al. 2001, p. 206) is consistent with
Frohmann s Findings. They also agreed with Frohmann s categories of typifications, however they
found that a substantial amount of cases were rejected for reasons other than discrediting the victim
such as, the victim s failure to appear for a pretrial interview, refusal to cooperate in the prosecution of
the case, or admission that the charges were fabricated (Spohn, et al. 2001). Spohn, Beichner, and
Davis Frenzel discuss Steffensmeier s (1998) focal concerns perspective. They conclude that the focal
concerns which guide prosecutors charging decisions are the seriousness of the crime, the amount of
harm to the victim, and the suspect s culpability. They are more likely to

Goals: As the negotiator for AT T, our goal is to ensure that the deal is signed at a price acceptable to

The Effects Of Viral Encephalitis On The Disease
The disease I have chosen to explore is viral encephalitis. Encephalitis refers to brain inflammation
(PDR, 2014, Diagnosis), which is rare but can be extremely dangerous (Mayo, 2014, Basics;
University of Maryland, 2013, Introduction). Severe cases of encephalitis can lead to permanent
damage and death (Mayo, 2014, Complications). Encephalitis can also be caused by bacteria and
fungi, or develop as a result of a non infectious cause, but encephalitis is usually caused by a virus
(Mayo, 2014, Causes; PDR, 2014, Basics). Symptoms of encephalitis usually begin between 2 and 14

Encephalitis infections typically last between 1 and 3 weeks (PDR, Treatment). However, depending
on severity of the infection and the virus that caused it, recovery can last months and some level of
impairment may be permanent, such as paralysis or exhaustion (Mayo, 2014, Complications; PDR,
2014, Treatment). It is also possible for those who have had viral encephalitis to experience seizures
later in life, particularly those who had seizures during the initial infection (Gondim, 2013, Prognosis).
Certain types of viral encephalitis will cause death up to 70 percent of the time, if not treated early
(Gondim, 2013, Prognosis; PDR, 2014, Treatment). Viral encephalitis can either be a primary
infection, with the virus directly affecting the brain (Mayo, 2014, Causes; PDR, 2014, Diagnosis), or a
secondary infection, caused by the immune system attacking the brain as well as the originally
affected tissues (Mayo, 2014, Causes). Secondary viral encephalitis usually takes place a couple of
weeks after the original infection (Mayo, 2014, Causes). The viruses that cause encephalitis can be
spread in a number of ways, depending on the particular virus. The most common ways are insect
bites and person to person contact (University of Maryland, 2013, Causes). In the case of insect bites,
the insect originally got the virus as a result of biting an infected animal, which then multiplied in the

Optimal Performance of Java Encryption
Abstract:
The usage and developments of computer and Internet technology in our life, is inseparable from the
Internet. The Growth of emerging internet and web based applications will be significant in future.
With these developments, users are enjoying quicker and more convenient services offered by the
Internet based web applications. However, we face potential security threat to sensitive information.
The data transferred over the internet or network between web applications or legacy systems can be
exposed. It is very essential to have more sophisticated protection mechanisms for web application
data transferred over the network. In addition to this, the data stored by web application in persistent
storage needs to be encrypted so as to avoid any data exposure or chance of hacking. Data encryption
is an efficient method of guaranteeing information security. There are many encryption methodologies
available to encrypt the data. As Java language used for majority of WEB application development
with its good features of portability and object oriented programming, this paper describes about the
Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) API and its performance over 128 bit and 256 bit encryption

saying that she is invading the animals that live on the tree and the animal think that she is an enemy.
The author also uses simile to make the tree alive. The author wrote, ?The sharp dry twigs caught and
held her and scratched her like angry talons.? The author compares the tree to a talon. The author?s
language greatly compares Sylvia and the tree that make this story a dramatic adventure. The passage
says that Sylvia has thin little fingers clumsy and stiff compares to the tree?s great stem. Sylvia did not

An Analysis Of Inculpability In The Turn Of The Screw By...
Inculpability is the lack of culpability or corruption. Henry James was one of the main novelists
during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Many of his works were about European and
American people. The relationship between the governess and the children show us that she cares for
them as if they are her own. In the novel The Turn of the Screw, Henry James utilizes the main
character, the governess, to sacrifice her life; this does more damage than expected and shows how
inculpability can be corrupted. The novel The Turn of the Screw emerged in 1898. Once it was
published readers were frightened and it was kenned to be one of the most perturbing ghost stories

continually encroached upon Liberian territory. As it was not a sovereign state, it was hard pressed to

On the other hand, many abolitionists, both black and white, ultimately rejected the notion that it was

Public Schools Should Be Public School
Public schools are considered the normal thing to do for children. When one thinks of where they see
their child getting an education, it is typically a public school. Most children and adolescents dread
going to school anyway, but why? Teens typically say they must go to school because they legally
must. Even some parents may believe this excuse, but there are other options. Of course, there are
private schools, home schools, charter schools, and even more options that could be better for students
if public school is not efficient enough. Firstly, it should be addressed what is meant by the thought
that one must legally go to school. Everyone has human rights and these human rights are what all
people have no matter what. The twenty sixth is education. It is stated clearly that education should be
free and that technical and professional education should be readily available and accessible to
anyone. Education also must be focused on encouraging overall tolerance and friendships. Parents also
have a right to decide on the type of school a child will utilize. (OHCHR) The key word here is type.
Most people would think public school is either their only or most obvious or easiest option and would
choose that over other possibilities. Everyone in the United States between the ages of six to 16 must
receive an education in a public or state accredited private school with exemptions for homeschooling
or online classes. (FindLaw) This means that any type of education would

Developing Two Bioanalytical Sensing Platforms Essay
The aim of this project is to develop two bioanalytical sensing platforms as a means to study
phenomena in organized 3D cellular microenvironments that appropriately model key aspects of
biological habitats. Three important questions, listed below, will be addressed during this project,
which we discuss in detail in Sections 3.1 3.3.
(1) Can we determine concentrations of cellular biogenic species (NO, H2O2) in organized
microcommunities using T CUAs?
(2) Can we monitor proximity dependent cellular behavior in dynamic microcolonies?
(3) Can we perform real time analyses of cellular behavior in response to in vivo environments?
3.1 T CUAs for Electrochemical Detection of Cellularly Derived Biogenic Species in Organized 3D
Microenvironments.
The complex environments in which cells interact can have diverse cellular populations and be
susceptible to changes that influence cellular survival, division, differentiation, death and virulence.
Such dynamic responses are often mediated, at least in part, by changes in the concentration of
biogenic signaling molecules. Hence, detection of these chemical species is key to understanding
cellular communication. Using T CUAs as electrochemical sensors in tandem with µ3DP cell cultures,
we will electrochemically detect two signaling molecules, NO and H2O2, directly from macrophages
and S. gordonii cells, respectively.
Macrophages are immunological (eukaryotic) cells that respond to bacterial infections within in an
organism by secreting

Huntington s Chorea or Huntington s Disease is a rare progressive genetic disorder which afflicts
roughly 7 out of every 100,000 people in North America (Rawlins, 2016, pp. 144 153). The disease
manifests primarily in tissues of the brain, and affects the shutdown of many primary functions
including speech, movement, and cognitive abilities. With a strong genetic component, there is a 50%
chance of just one parent passing the gene linked with Huntington s Disease along to offspring;
additionally, studies have proven that everyone with the defective gene will eventually develop

correlated with the child s behavior. This study was mainly focused on low income mothers working a
non traditional schedule, the nightshift or graveyard shift. The results were what would be expected,
that children experience a higher aggression behavior if their mothers took a nightshift job than if the
mother did not work. (QUOTE) This is partly due to the fact that although mothers are physically
present when their children arrive home, they may not be fully mentally there. That is, mothers who
work at night may be exhausted in the morning due to the lack of sleep. Instead of paying attention to
the child, their minds might be wondering somewhere else. This then raises the question of the quality
of time spent with the child. Taking a look at the different working schedules of working mothers we
see that

Gold Coast Beach Erosion
Statement of Findings
What is Erosion?__________________________________________________________________
The definition for erosion is the process of the surface of the Earth being worn down by natural causes
such as wind, waves and rain. A type of erosion that impacts on the Gold Coast is the coastal erosion.
Coastal erosion is the permanent loss of land along the shoreline. Erosion on Gold Coast beaches
occurs mostly to the sand on the beaches where the waves can easily erode away.
What causes Erosion?_____________________________________________________________
Erosion impacts on the Gold Coast in many ways but coastal erosion effects the Gold Coast the most.

These sand dunes are important to the coastline and should be protected from these natural threats.
The dunes are important because it is used as a buffer against wave damages caused by storms,
cyclones, king tides, etc. which protects the land behind from salt water intrusions. The dunes also act
as a sand storage area to replenish and maintain the beach at times of erosion. Sand suns also provide
a foundation for ecosystems made up of a wide variety of coastal life.
(http://curiosity.discovery.com/question/why dunes coastal areas). Due to the sand dunes being swept
away by the cyclones and king tides all the protection that the dunes are providing to the inland is
slowly decreasing because of the erosion that the cyclones and king tides cause. The erosion effects
the foreshore most out of all the parts of the sand dunes. The foreshore is most affected because it is
where the waves are most frequently hitting that part of the sand dunes which means that erosion will
occur faster there. Due to the foreshore wearing away, sand from the foredune and interdune will
replace the sand that has been washed away which means that the establishments that are on the
interdune will begin to sink into the

Child Abuse In Frankenstein
Imagine being young again, sleeping in your childhood bed, oblivious to the world around you. As
you sleep, your dreams slowly evolve into a terrible nightmare. You toss and turn until you wake with
a jolt. Quickly, you rush to your parents room and tell them what happened. They know exactly what
to do, and soon you head back to bed, ready to dream once more. But what would you have done if
your parents weren t as understanding? Would you still have come to them for help? And if not, how
would you have dealt with the problem on your own, and what differences would there have been in
the outcome? John from Brave New World, Grendel from Grendel, and The Creature from
Frankenstein each suffered from a childhood with little to no parental interaction, ... Show more

Neglect often spurs negative thoughts within a child, which may either be directed inward or outward
(Olive 69). With Grendel and the Creature s frequent outbursts and destructive behavior, it is obvious
they chose the latter, causing them to show signs of conduct disorder (directing feelings outward
would involve violence towards others and other acts of aggression, which are key factors to
diagnosing conduct disorder) (Keenan 328). The aggression is caused by their strive for satisfaction in
fulfilling their superegos, because it is impossible for them to do so ( Psychologically ). The Creature,
desperate for empathy, tried to convince the blind De Lacy to trust him, but his plans were foiled when
the rest of the family saw him. In a last effort, the Creature seizes the old man and tells him Save and
protect me! You and your family are the friends whom I seek. Do not you desert me in the hour of
trial! which is then mistaken for an attempted attack. The cottagers quickly leave, abandoning the
Creature, who shortly after destroys the house in which they lived (Shelley 93 95). Similarly, Grendel,
attempting to return a corpse he had found in the woods, revealed himself to the humans, hoping for
peace and friendship. Instead, the men attacked him with spears and battle axes. Grendel then crushed
the body in his arms and fled (Gardner 51 52). These rejections thus had a lasting effect on

Importance Of A Healthy Lifestyle Essay
A healthy lifestyle can be defined as a certain way of living that normally lowers the possibility of an
individual falling sick or even dying early. It is not possible to prevent a large proportion of deaths
especially those from the heart and lungs but at the same time it is possible to avoid them. A lifestyle
that is healthy makes one very fit, strong as well as reduces the risks of certain diseases. A healthy
lifestyle is based on the various choices that we normally make in our day to day lives. The
foundations to a healthy lifestyle are based on many things but the most crucial all come down to one
concept, maintaining a healthy body weight. Eating healthy is one of the ways that can make one die
healthy; we find that it is therefore very important to observe what we eat. This is because our body
systems depend on the continuous supply of nutrients that we give to our bodies . The nutrients are
mainly from the food we eat and they include vitamins, carbohydrates, minerals and fats. Due to these,
we need to take different types of food so that we can ensure that our bodies get all the relevant
nutrients. Our diet should contain vegetables, whole grain as well as fruits We find that our society is
changing so much especially when it comes to the kinds of food we eat. Most of the people do not
know how to prepare various types of food and hence they end up eating processed foods which are
not very healthy and not eating a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits. This is

My Life In High School Essay
Any senior right now will honestly ask themselves how they could have possibly made it this far
knowing how stressful high school can be. To finally come to this point in my life it feels amazing.
Many seniors have their own way of making it to this place in time. I will give the reader my advice
and thoughts on how to make the most of your life in high school.
The first thing anyone will tell you to do in high school is to simply be involved. There are many ways
to be involved with high school, the only problem with being involved is choosing the right activity or
club for you. My advice for anyone who wants to be in a club or a sport is to give each club or sport a
try. It doesn t matter if its FFA or Basketball, just tryout anything their possibly is and you possibly
might like doing whatever it is you re doing to be involved with your school, trust me I m telling you
from experience.
When it comes to assignments you either succeed or you fail. If you re like me, you have most likely
mastered failure unfortunately. In reality is failure a bad thing? In certain cases failure is not so bad.
Failing can be frustrating but when you fail at whatever you are doing you can easily learn from that
failure and correct yourself and next thing you know you re passing that class you were just failing.
Now success is a different story. Success is probably one of the most rewarding feeling there is,
especially when you pull an all nighter on that composition you forgot to do last week

Benefits Of Retirement Planning For Retirement
Retirement planning is essential for the future well being of retirees. Gaining knowledge and
perspective on the process will be beneficial. A lack of preparedness may stem from the overwhelming
amount of variables affecting and contributing to retirement planning. The following literature reviews
provide awareness on planning for retirement. In an article by Burke Goldman (2015), three strategies
are presented to adopt and implement proven features and solutions. First, automatic plan features
promote enrollment and escalation to produce better outcomes. Behavioral economics contributes to
the effectiveness. Examples includes hyperbolic discounting, heavily discounting the importance of
future benefits in favor of immediate action, and loss aversion, motivated by avoiding loss than
achieving gains. The second strategy involves instituting the 4 M s, milestones, measurement,
monitoring and management. In order to reach the goal retirement age and income, the future retiree
needs to recognize how much is required to save each year. The funding goals are measured to
determine if the individual needs to change course or pick up the pace. Monitoring and management
occur throughout the process. Third, connecting the dots attempts to overcome the challenges
associated with account balances and future income. For a secure retirement, understanding options
promotes the ability to achieve better outcomes. To assist in achieving retirement goals, Davidson

Greek Myth Pyramus And Thisbe Retold By Edith Hamilton
In the Greek myth Pyramus and Thisbe retold by Edith Hamilton in Mythology, two lovers end up
dead after one jumps to a wrongful conclusion. Pyramus and Thisbe, two neighbors in forbidden love,
speaking only through a chink in their shared wall, crave sharing a touch. The two lovers plan to slip
away and steal out through the city into the open country where at last they could be together in
freedom (Hamilton 134). Thisbe arrives first and suddenly sees a lioness, covered in blood, coming at
her. In her escape, Thisbe drops her cloak. When Pyramus arrives and finds the bloody cloak he
immediately assumes Thisbe murdered by the lioness and plunges his sword into his side. When
Thisbe returns and sees Pyramus dying, she too kills herself out

  • 2. Essay about Glycolic Acid Glycolic acid is a group of chemicals known as alpha hydroxyl acids or fruit acids. It is mainly derived from sugar cane, and hence it is a natural product. The citric acid found in oranges and other citrus fruits also come under the same division as glycolic acids. The glycolic acid acne treatment can be effectively used to treat some cases of acne. Glycolic acid is mostly used in cosmetic forms rather than industrial. It is usually used as a skin exfoliant and a moisturizer. Some proponents of glycolic acid state that the products which contain less than 10% concentration of glycolic acid is rendered useless. These chemical peels can also be used for improving the appearance of the skin which is damaged by previous acne scarring. Characteristics of glycolic acid Glycolic acid acne therapy is basically derived from sugar cane. It is a member of the alpha hydroxyl family of ingredients which are used in skin care and cosmetic treatments. the glycolic acid is an important part of the light chemical peels, used by the skin specialists to loosen the black heads and also reduce the number of papules which are caused due to acne. Glycolic acid is also used in superficial to moderate chemical peels which are used to remove the acne damaged tissues to allow a new and fresh skin to appear. Effects of glycolic acid acne treatment Glycolic acid can make the skin sensitive than normal. This is why it is best to always test a small area of the skin before you start using the glycolic acid acne treatment on your skin. Glycolic acid exfoliates the skin. The glycolic acid travels deep below the acne blemishes and breaks down the dead skin cells that are clogging the pores. Glycolic acid also has an ability to moisturize your skin after it removes the dead skin cells. This allows the acne prone skin to remain moisturized and prevent drying out and promoting more production of more oil to compensate for the moisture that was lost in the treatment process. When you are using the glycolic acid acne products, prevent sun exposure on your skin or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Center And Yorkdale Mall The socioeconomic significance of malls is seen through visual culture, where the mall has become a place to meet up with friends and family, on any day of the week weekends being the busiest. Hence the mall has become a centre of life, where the most memorable moments, holidays and birthdays are spent, dinners are held all under one roof (Stokrocki 80). In Toronto the two largest malls I explored were the Toronto Eaton s Centre and Yorkdale Mall both of which included over 200 stores, eateries, rainforest cafés, and a movie theatre. However what was evident about these two malls apart from the rest included anti social behaviours despite families being grouped together. Although people were together, the sense of togetherness was plastic just like the manikins of store displays. It appeared as though families were shopping just as an excuse to go out as a family even though children, teens and adults would disperse into the stores of their choice and meet up at the end for a takeout meal, contacting each other through their phones. In addition to this observation included the fact that families shopping with other families or family friends were more of an exploitation of social and economic class. People being able to spend at stores like Michael Kors, Coach, Tory Burch, Abercrombie Fitch, Lululemon, Kate Spade and many more, without worrying about going over budget meant being affluent. What really needs to be questioned is the idea that if these people spend at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

School Violence Finding a Solution to School Violence Anita Lopez Kaplan University CM 220 School is a place where children should go to learn, educate themselves, make lifelong friends and most importantly they should feel safe. The violence in schools has increased over the years and many schools aren t sure how to handle this growing problem in an appropriate manner. School violence may come in various forms and some of the most common forms of school violence include physical abuses, bullying, brawl and verbal abuses but the most common forms are physical abuses and bullying. Schools administrators and teachers should deal with each situation individually, they should give a good amount of time and effort into finding a suitable solution to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Suspensions can lead to delinquency because some of the students may end up dropping out of school. The risk of subsequent violence increases when violent students are transferred repeatedly from one school to another (Finley, 2011). Students that drop out of school because of expulsion or suspension are more likely to associate with deviant peers because they have more unstructured time and this can become another problem. Schools should take proactive approaches when dealing with school violence, but mediating in conflicts and counselling indiscipline students are just reactive measures that may end up doing very little to end school violence (Finley, 2011). The success or failure of counseling and mediation also depends on the qualifications and training of the people in charge of such programs. As the saying goes it takes a village to raise a child , it will be a great deed for all of society to help with this ongoing problem of school violence. It is in a parent s best interest to play a big role in their child s life. A child learns from examples and by watching as others do. A collective effort that includes parents, teachers and school administrators and the entire community is needed to effectively deal with the problem of school violence. • 5. Criminology Criminology Coursework Assessing the riots... Criminology is focused on the attempt to understand the meanings involved in social interaction. Theorists have tried to explain sociological behaviour by looking at the patterns created by individuals that commit crime. The August 2011 riots are pivotal in explaining criminological behaviour since official statistics show that 865 individuals were put in prison by the 9th September 2011 for offences related to the disorder between 6th and 9th August 2011. This is not to say that others were not involved, but that they have simply not been identified to date and may never be identified, however the evidence we do have about the recent riots gives us plenty to talk about. This essay will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Becker deviance is a consequence of the application by others of rules and sanctions to an offender . Becker came to the conclusion that people are criminalised through the process of negotiation, known to be social constructionism for example the Crown Prosecution Service may drop the charge of murder to manslaughter if there is not enough evidence to convict for murder. By doing this the defendant becomes labelled for the crime of manslaughter even though he may truly be guilty of murder. By introducing what could be regarded as petty legislation more people will be labelled criminals, which in turn may lead the offender to act further on this basis. Lemert referred to this as secondary deviance as when a person is labelled criminal they change their view of themselves and this then becomes their master status . On the other hand primary deviance is when someone violates a social code, but does not get labelled. Therefore a person is only labelled a criminal if he is caught and since ethnic minorities are subject to much more scrutiny than the white population this puts black people at an automatic disadvantage. Following the inquiry into the death of Stephen Lawrence it was uncovered that the police are institutionally racist. Institutional racism can be defined as the collective failure of an organisation to provide an appropriate and professional service to the people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Social Deviance And Social Deviance Social deviance is considered a broad term, it tends to describe actions or behaviors that violate society s norms. Norms, in a simple context, are rules by, which members of society are expected to conform to. When it comes to discussing the term deviance, it tends to mean a person s failure to conform to unspoken rules established by society. Social deviance can have many forms and interpretations. Deviant acts are primarily relative to the setting because deviance in one place could be considered non deviance in another place. Theft, violence, murder, or any kind of criminal behavior, can be considered either deviant or non deviant, depending on the context. It s coming up to countries, establishments, and governing bodies to determine, which acts are and aren t acceptable. An example, could be murdering someone for drugs is not acceptable, but murdering someone in an act of self defense is. It can be concluded, all acts of deviance are subjected to review and accepted on the condition that it fits what society holds acceptable. Acts of deviance can result in some very positive outcomes.(Why is this here?) Everyone has unconsciously committed an act of deviance, in addition, have conformed to society s norms, as well. A un establish rule in society is to always pay for one s food prior to consumption. However, I do not always conform to this social norm. West Point Conference Report In early October, we (Graham and Nosheen) were invited to attend the 68th Annual Student Conference on U.S. Affairs at the United States Military Academy at West Point. As the conference was scheduled to start the day after Election Day, the overarching theme, and title, of the conference, Democracy and Democratization: Challenges and Opportunities, seemed incredibly relevant. The four day conference addressed challenges and obstacles facing the nation. Civilian student delegates us and West Point delegates engaged in comprehensive discussion to better tackle these issues, which culminated in a brief policy proposal. However, he was interested in what he dubbed Modern Capitalism and how it came to be. Instead of just looking at the effects of this theory, he contemplated on what allowed it to take place. To an extent, he agrees with Karl Marx on modern capitalism ability to form, but he takes it a step beyond economic conditions and adds the element of social/ religious conditions. Weber developed what he called the spirit of capitalism, which looks at modern capitalism and shows what makes modern capitalism different from speculative, commercial, adventurous, and political capitalism. He noted that in this type of capitalism people have a mentality that they need to make as much money as possible, which requires a particular frame of mind that ... strives systematically and rationally in a calling for legitimate profit (Weber, 2009, The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism, Pg. 80). When looking at the features that allowed capitalism to come to fruition, Weber noted that a cause and effect relationship needs to occur. While Saber does experience a portion of expected heroic like events, he fails to be a typical hero because of his inability to overcome his transgressions and maintain conventional heroic attributes. MOTIVATION IS KEY In order to successfully market Windows 8, Microsoft has to motivate students to make the effort to be interested in Microsoft. All of these options do not favour Microsoft in any way. Deferring the decision or not making the decision at all reduces Microsoft s presence and exposure to the market because this means that consumers are not willing to go that extra step to research Microsoft. Owing to Marvell s use of the word coy, we have a clear picture of the kind of woman his mistress is. She has been encouraging his advances to a certain point, but then when he gets too close, she backs off, and resists those same advances. Evidently, this has been going on for quite some time, as Marvell now feels it necessary to broach the topic in this poem. We are left with no doubt as to what the fate of the lovers will be, as well as the state of his own feelings for her: then worms shall try That long preserved virginity, And your quaint honor turn to dust, And into ashes all my lust (ll. 26 30). These lines seem a bit morbid, but I also sense the use of horror, on Marvell s part, to further convince his mistress to succumb to his affections. He is basically telling her that if she continues to resist him, it will be the worms that remove her virginity from her, as opposed to someone who really cares about her, namely him. He also reminds her that the honor that she is clinging to so tightly to will mean nothing when worms know her intimately. Further, his feelings for her will be utterly gone. The second stanza ends with these lines, my favorite: The grave s a fine and private place, / But none I think do there embrace. This ironic statement provides the crowning argument: Marvell has just described a love that would be timeless if such a thing were allowed. With a love such as this how can they let time slip through their fingers, and justify it? This also provides the second, and perhaps more important theme in the poem. The message is that the lovers, and consequently we who read the poem, should use the time we have been given to the best of our advantage. Individuals form addictions to a surge in excessive or violent behaviors, commonly found among teens or younger children. Encephalitis refers to brain inflammation (PDR, 2014, Diagnosis), which is rare but can be extremely dangerous (Mayo, 2014, Basics; University of Maryland, 2013, Introduction). Severe cases of encephalitis can lead to permanent damage and death (Mayo, 2014, Complications). Encephalitis can also be caused by bacteria and fungi, or develop as a result of a non infectious cause, but encephalitis is usually caused by a virus (Mayo, 2014, Causes; PDR, 2014, Basics). Symptoms of encephalitis usually begin between 2 and 14 days from the time of infection (University of Maryland, 2013, Symptoms), though it can be months before symptoms begin, such as is sometimes the case with the ... However, depending on severity of the infection and the virus that caused it, recovery can last months and some level of impairment may be permanent, such as paralysis or exhaustion (Mayo, 2014, Complications; PDR, 2014, Treatment). It is also possible for those who have had viral encephalitis to experience seizures later in life, particularly those who had seizures during the initial infection (Gondim, 2013, Prognosis). Certain types of viral encephalitis will cause death up to 70 percent of the time, if not treated early (Gondim, 2013, Prognosis; PDR, 2014, Treatment). Viral encephalitis can either be a primary infection, with the virus directly affecting the brain (Mayo, 2014, Causes; PDR, 2014, Diagnosis), or a secondary infection, caused by the immune system attacking the brain as well as the originally affected tissues (Mayo, 2014, Causes). Secondary viral encephalitis usually takes place a couple of weeks after the original infection (Mayo, 2014, Causes). The viruses that cause encephalitis can be spread in a number of ways, depending on the particular virus. Henry James was one of the main novelists during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Many of his works were about European and American people. The relationship between the governess and the children show us that she cares for them as if they are her own. In the novel The Turn of the Screw, Henry James utilizes the main character, the governess, to sacrifice her life; this does more damage than expected and shows how inculpability can be corrupted. • 33. Public Schools Should Be Public School Public schools are considered the normal thing to do for children. When one thinks of where they see their child getting an education, it is typically a public school. Most children and adolescents dread going to school anyway, but why? Teens typically say they must go to school because they legally must. Even some parents may believe this excuse, but there are other options. Of course, there are private schools, home schools, charter schools, and even more options that could be better for students if public school is not efficient enough. Firstly, it should be addressed what is meant by the thought that one must legally go to school. Everyone has human rights and these human rights are what all people have no matter what. The twenty sixth is education. It is stated clearly that education should be free and that technical and professional education should be readily available and accessible to anyone. Education also must be focused on encouraging overall tolerance and friendships. Parents also have a right to decide on the type of school a child will utilize. (OHCHR) The key word here is type. Most people would think public school is either their only or most obvious or easiest option and would choose that over other possibilities. • 34. Developing Two Bioanalytical Sensing Platforms Essay The aim of this project is to develop two bioanalytical sensing platforms as a means to study phenomena in organized 3D cellular microenvironments that appropriately model key aspects of biological habitats. Three important questions, listed below, will be addressed during this project, which we discuss in detail in Sections 3.1 3.3. (1) Can we determine concentrations of cellular biogenic species (NO, H2O2) in organized microcommunities using T CUAs? (2) Can we monitor proximity dependent cellular behavior in dynamic microcolonies? (3) Can we perform real time analyses of cellular behavior in response to in vivo environments? 3.1 T CUAs for Electrochemical Detection of Cellularly Derived Biogenic Species in Organized 3D Microenvironments. The complex environments in which cells interact can have diverse cellular populations and be susceptible to changes that influence cellular survival, division, differentiation, death and virulence. Such dynamic responses are often mediated, at least in part, by changes in the concentration of biogenic signaling molecules. Hence, detection of these chemical species is key to understanding cellular communication. Using T CUAs as electrochemical sensors in tandem with µ3DP cell cultures, we will electrochemically detect two signaling molecules, NO and H2O2, directly from macrophages and S. gordonii cells, respectively. The coal industry is one of those industries being significantly affected by regulations attempting to address controversial environmental issues. A lack of preparedness may stem from the overwhelming amount of variables affecting and contributing to retirement planning. The following literature reviews provide awareness on planning for retirement. In an article by Burke Goldman (2015), three strategies are presented to adopt and implement proven features and solutions. First, automatic plan features promote enrollment and escalation to produce better outcomes. Behavioral economics contributes to the effectiveness. Examples includes hyperbolic discounting, heavily discounting the importance of future benefits in favor of immediate action, and loss aversion, motivated by avoiding loss than achieving gains. The second strategy involves instituting the 4 M s, milestones, measurement, monitoring and management. In order to reach the goal retirement age and income, the future retiree needs to recognize how much is required to save each year. The funding goals are measured to determine if the individual needs to change course or pick up the pace. Monitoring and management occur throughout the process.
