General Contribution Of The Core Knowledge From Overall...
Question 1 This question relates to the general contribution of the core knowledge from this unit to
overall managerial effectiveness.
a) Outline how the core concepts in this unit relate to the overall effectiveness of managers, leaders
and their organisations. (10 marks 300 words)
The core concepts of the unit will enable executive staff to make better informed business decisions.
Using concepts learned from the unit, theory as learned, can be applied to business situations and
enables them to review situations in a nonlinear view. As quoted in the study guide To answer such
questions using an economics looking glass we first have to define what economics is. Economics is a
way of thinking. (Walker Murphy 2013).
Traditionally, workers in siloed organisations, may concentrate and look at problems within the
business relevant to their specific requirements, however, from an economic decision making point of
view we can make a more informed decision. eg. An IT Executive may look at technology to solve a
specific business problem, however an executive may apply economic concepts to provide an overall
picture on the solution this may include but would not be limited to;
Supply Demand Theory eg. The executive might need to budget and resource for labour. We might
need to consider the relation between the two (that is supply and demand) and provide some
mechanisms to forecast demand (such as regression).
Production Theory the executive might need to

Apush Chapter 23 Summary
Chapter 23 The Bloody Shirt Elects Grant The Republicans nominated General Grant for the
presidency in 1868. The Republican Party supported the continuation of the Reconstruction of the
South, while Grant stood on the platform of just having peace. The Democrats nominated Horatio
Seymour. Grant won the election of 1868. The Era of Good Stealings Jim Fisk and Jay Gould devised
a plot to drastically raise the price of the gold market in 1869. On Black Friday, September 24, 1869,
the two bought a large amount of gold, planning to sell it for a profit. In order to lower the high price
of gold, the Treasury was forced to sell gold from its reserves. Boss Tweed employed bribery, graft,

They also opposed the government imposing a single moral standard on the entire society. Democrats
were found in the South and in the northern industrial cities. A Stalwart faction led by Roscoe
Conkling supported the system of swapping civil servant jobs for votes. (Giving someone a job if they
vote for a specific party/cause. Spoils system ) Opposed to the Stalwarts were the Half Breeds, led by
James G. Blaine. The main disagreement between the two groups was over who would give the jobs to
the people who voted in their favor. The Hayes Tilden Standoff, 1876 Congress passed a resolution
that reminded the country, and Grant, of the two term tradition for presidency after Grant was
speculating about running for a 3rd term. The Republicans chose Rutherford B. Hayes as their
presidential candidate for the election of 1876. The Democrats chose Samuel J. Tilden. In the election,
Tilden won the popular vote, but was 1 vote shy from winning in the Electoral College. The
determining electoral votes would come from three states, Louisiana, South Carolina, and Florida who
had each sent two sets of ballots to Congress, one with the Democrats victorious and the other with the
Republicans victorious; there was no winner in these states. It was necessary to find the true political
party winner of the states, although it was unknown who would judge the winner of the states because

IFSM 311: Enterprise Architecture and Systems
EA Framework Research Paper
Introduction
An Enterprise Architecture Framework (EAF) provides principles and practices for creating and using
the architecture description of a system. Frameworks are used to help organizations answer specific
question. Enterprise Architecture framework importance is de emphasized deliberately sometimes.
Without a framework though, it is impossible to have foreseeable and repeatable outcomes. There are
many EA frameworks out there. However, the four leading ones are The Zachman Framework for
Enterprise Architecture, The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOFAF), Federal Enterprise
Architecture, and Gartner Enterprise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5. When(Time) describes when the function should be performed.
6. Why(Motivation) describes the end goals, constraints, rules and regulations.
Example of Zachman Framework:
Pros of Zachman Framework
The Zachman framework is the most popular framework in the area of EA. It is a basis for some other
frameworks such as, FEAF(Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework). You can hardly find written
material on any EA framework without a reference to the Zachman framework. The framework is
generic in that it can be used to classify the descriptive representations of any physical object as well
as conceptual objects such as enterprises. It is also recursive in that it can be used to analyze the
architectural composition of itself. Although the framework will carry the relation from one column to
the other, it is still a fundamentally structural representation of the enterprise and not a flow
representation. Another of the strengths of the Zachman Framework is that it explicitly shows a
comprehensive set of views that can be addressed by enterprise architecture.
Cons of Zachman Framework
Zachman Framework can lead to a documentation heavy approach. .Each of the 36 cells in the
Framework handles a different question that has to be documented. It can also lead to a process heavy
approach to development . The Zachman Framework isn t well accepted within the development
community and few developers even seem to have

The Issue Towards Education And Education Reforms Needs...
The issue towards education and education reforms needs peoples awareness needs to increase
because of how important this issue is. The educational system is corrupt because people are required
to pay thousands of dollars or take out loans that are putting them in debts for years which is absurd.
Students from all over the nation forced to take out loans that put them in debt for most of their life.
Low income students also do not have many options for education and cannot afford one. The cost of
education will keep on getting higher and higher as time progresses and the next president and
congress of the democratic party needs to focus on this problem for students that are in college and for
the ones who will be in the future. The education issue is one of the biggest challenges that the United
States are facing today and needs to be fixed by lowering tuition, more options for low income
students, and create more teaching jobs. Both political parties have different views on education and
only one has the right mind to fixing the educational issue. On the website feelthebern.org,
republicanviews.org, and college.usatoday.com states different ways on how the democratic party will
fix the educational system by reforming college tuitions, financial aid, student loans, and for students
who come from a low income family.
On the website, feelthebern.org and college.usatoday.com, Senator Sanders believes that students who
are willing to go to college should be denied based on

Examples Of Iago Evil
Iago is one of William Shakespeare s most evil villains. From the very beginning Iago is out to destroy
Othello. No one really knows why Iago hates Othello so much, but there are many theories to why he
does, such as iago states he s angry that othello looked past him for a promotion or the possibility that
othello is having an affair with his wife. Iago s ability to manipulate and deceive people is truly evil,
yet also genious. Iago is absolutely evil and shows it throughout the entire play. Iago s evil is shown in
everything he says, does, and has a part of. For him to be able to constantly deceive his wife and
friends shows how evil he is. Iago double crosses all the characters who consider him their friend.
Most shockingly perhaps, he kills Roderigo, a Character who he has colluded with and been mostly
honest with throughout the play (McCulloch). Iago could be described as amoral. He doesn t care
about anything but himself. He will do anything to achieve what he wants and will not lose a bit of
sleep over anybody he kills and/or deceives to get it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
the same way some people enjoy writing songs or filming movies , Iago enjoys ruining peoples lives.
he does it with a cinse of craftsmanship, appreciating the elegance of a particular step in a scheme as
much as its final result. (jamieson). Iago is truly a master of manipulation and takes pride in how he
does it. His ability to deceive and turn people on each other is absolutely genius. it is Iago s talent for
understanding and manipulating the desires or those around him that makes him both a powerful and
compelling figure (Spark notes). Through out the play, the reader often times finds humor with iago.
Iago is often funny, especially in his scenes with the foolish roderigo. which serve as a showcase of
Iago s manipulative abilities. He seems almost to wink at the audience as he revels in his own

Environmental Issues Challenging The Clean Water Act Of...
Coastal Area I live less than a mile from the San Francisco Bay and Estuary (SFBay). I wrote about
this bay s environmental issues in the Unit #1 Learning Journal assignment and have decided to use
this opportunity to elaborate on two specific environmental issues challenging the SFBay. To
summarize this ecosystem: It s the largest bay and estuary on the Pacific coast and has been damaged
by industrial activity, starting in 1850 with the Gold Rush and quickly followed by the logging,
railroad and salt pond industries. Its biggest threats are pollution, water diversion and filling in.
Conservation efforts began in 1965 and today the SFBay is collectively overseen by government and
private organizations. Two environmental problems the SFBay faces are mercury contamination and
overfishing. The Clean Water Act lists the SFBay as impaired for mercury. Estimates suggest the bay s
sediment is contaminated with about two hundred metric tons of mercury, much going back to original
Gold Rush. This pollutant has affected SFBay biota resulting in a state issued fish advisory waning not
to eat some common fish such as Striped bass and limited intake of other species (OEHHA, 2011; Ely
Viani, 2010). At the same time humanity was busy cutting down thousand year old redwood trees and
hydraulically destroying the Sierra Mountains, they were also busy pillaging the SFBay for fish,
shellfish and perhaps the unlucky whale pod that happened by. Some species were immediately
depleted and by

Gore Case Analysis Essay
Gore Case Analysis Bill Gore is a primary example of a unique, yet successful, approach on
structuring his business using a lattice system. Lattice systems are organized to promote ingenuity and
performance without hierarchy of authority (Grant, 2010, p. 412). Gore s intent was to create an
environment with self managed associates pursuing personal commitments and working together to
achieve diverse innovations (p. 412). The success of W.L. Gore Associates exercising a lattice system
structure has been admirable but this system has adverse effects including confusion of how an
associate is paid for his contributions. In addition to maintaining Gore s core vision to promote
ingenuity and performance without hierarchy of authority, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Relevant Factual Information about the Problem or Decision the Organization Faced Gore s belief and
implementation of a lattice system was successful in his vision for creativity and innovation but the
structure presented a lack of clarity in regards to the amount of compensation given to employees
relating to their specific qualifications, expertise and performance.
Explanation of Relevant Concepts, Theories and Application Derived from Course Materials Lattice
systems grant several advantages for an organization looking to prosper from diversified talent.
However, it creates complicated parameters on how an employee should be compensated when a
framework is not present for guidance. Mayhem (2012) presented Gore s acknowledgement of the
complexity when he stated it s unrealistic for people to set their own salaries (para 3). Gore s
alternative was to compensate based on annual peer reviews. Although companies should consider
peer reviews during an employee evaluation, the associates should not be in control of the
compensation of others. If a company uses this approach it can cause skewed evaluations with various
ratings due to personal differences. Vinson (1996) highlighted this point by bringing up a concern with
conflicted opinions and asking the question, who decides who is right? (para. 11). As a professional
and employee, I prefer to have a clear

Non Zoonotic Disease
In addition to performing duties as a veterinarian, I also reviewed biosecurity and cleaning procedures
performed by the staff. It was in these activities I witnessed how calicivirus (non zoonotic) and
ringworm (zoonotic) were being spread among the animals due to staff s lack of biosecurity measures.
While calicivirus is not a zoonotic disease, it is a highly transmissible disease among cats, especially
when proper protocols to prevent spread are not observed. Animals identified with calicivirus have
cage cards and signs on their cages alerting the staff to their condition. These cage cards indicate the
order in which these cages should be cleaned and animals medicated based on severity of symptoms.

I identified rabies and ringoworm as the most common zoonotic issues at APL. Other considerations
for zoonotic disease in shelter medicine are: toxoplasmosis, toxocariosis, pasteurellosis, and
bartonellosis. In response to educating the public on these diseases and how they were transmitted, I
developed a flyer to display at the shelter as well as provide as a handout to all adopters. I developed
separate flyers for each disease determined with zoonotic potential that was most common in this
shelter (ringworm) and most well known (rabies). Copies of the products developed are attached to the
end of this report (Appendix 2 3). In the future, if received well, then additional flyers could be
created for other zoonotic diseases. While doing research at the shelter, it became evident staff
members did not know what a zoonotic disease meant. I informally discussed zoonotic disease with
three staff members that represent the areas of the shelter with the most public interactions (cat nook,
kennels, and front office) and asked them the same three questions: 1. What does a zoonotic disease
mean? 2. Does the shelter have any zoonotic diseases currently? 3. Can you name one zoonotic
disease? The answers were as follows:
1. A disease that is fatal A disease people can get from animals A disease that animals spread to each
other

Evidence: Eighty percent of the fresh water that we consume is used to grow food. Yet we end up

Explanation: We through out half if food that could be useful to farmers to grow food but that does not

Angelo And Cross Summary
The article from Angelo and Cross, while dated, is a valuable lesson and read for educators (and
myself). Many of the concepts covered in this article highlight the ways that assessment can help
college teachers gain useful feedback and analyze student learning. The article encourages educators
to review the central aim of college which is to help students become more effective and efficient
learners. Additionally, by focusing on the characteristics of classroom assessment (learner centered,
teacher directed, mutually beneficial, formative, context specific, ongoing, and firmly rooted in good
practice) educators can see what students are learning. Learning is a collaborative effort, both the
educator and student need to work together.

American Auto Controversy
The American Autobahn Believe it or not there is a road system in which there is no speed limit. It is
called the autobahn and is located in Germany. However unlike many people think it is not a single
road but rather a series of motorways that stretch across all of Germany. The autobahn is not without
restrictions though. There are in some areas speed limits set during inclement weather. There is also
rules such as it is illegal to stop on the side of the road and pass other vehicles if you are to the right of
them. Now this sounds so great that the obvious American thing to do is to steal the idea that many
have already proposed. It is only a matter of time until politicians throughout America will succumb to
the pressures to create a similar system of roads around the nation. It would certainly increase the
revenue for nearby businesses due to the newfound tourism. The new road system would be safer in
comparison to a speed regulated highway. Germany s autobahn for example has 6 traffic related deaths

Many would like to see route 66 restored to it s former glory and made into an autobahn, but it is
impractical. I would suggest interstate 80. It is fairly flat and straight and with some work could be a
fantastic candidate for an American autobahn. Some upgrades may be necessary such as repaving
rough areas and increasing efficiency at intersections, but possible nonetheless. One very promising
area of this road happens to cross the Bonneville salt flats, already known for it s rich history of speed.
A toll however would be necessary to keeping the road in an exceptional condition to insure the safety
of the drivers. Another proposition may be an additional driving class that would be mandatory or at
the least offered to drivers in the area to increase safety. This road if successful would be the
beginning of a new era in American motorcar

Patriotism and Its Meaning Essay
Patriotism and Its Meaning
In the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States we are seeing many
forms of Patriotism. I was suprised to find when I researched this word that it had a negative feeling
associated with it. I believe that patriotism is actively showing your support for your country, standing
up for what you believe in, and fighting for our individual free will and independence.
I am proud of my country and I am not ashamed to fly the American Flag. Many men and women
have died to give me the freedoms that I take for granted. I applaud their patriotism, and I thank them
for giving me my way of life. I will support them in protecting my country. I will try to elect officials

I hope that you, as an American citizen will learn about your government and actively support it, by
voting, writing your congressmen, and making a difference for peace.
In standing up for what I believe in, I will not be ignorant of other people. I can be assertive in my
beliefs without trying to impose them on my fellow citizens. America stands for diversity and to have
patriotism to her is to believe that all people have a right to believe in thier own system of values. I do
not agree with Emma Goldman, who stated: Patriotism assumes that our globe is divided into little
spots, each one surrounded by an iron gate. Those who had the fortune of being born on some
particular spot, consider themselves better, nobler, grander, more intelligent then the living beings
inhabited by any other spot. It is therefore, the duty of everyone living on that chosen spot to fight, kill
and die in the attempt to impose his superiority upon all others. On the contrary, patriotism stands for
fighting for everyone to have the same freedom that I do.
We did not ask for terrorist to attack our country, but it is our duty to defend her, not blindly as people
would say we do, but earnestly keeping the good of all in mind. Richard Maybury, author of Early
Warning Report, wrote: The only thing I would be willing to die for is my home and family; I would
do what ever it takes to repel an invader, to protect my homeland. When I am deciding what I think of

Similarities Between Middle Ages And Renaissance
The end of the Middle Ages and beginning of the Renaissance brought many shifts to European
societal structure. The face of Christianity changed considerably from the fourteenth century to the
mid sixteenth century, beginning with disagreement over who should hold absolute power, the Pope or
the Holy Roman Emperor. While the corporate Catholic church had once maintained a fairly unified
influence on society, a more nuanced form of Christianity began developing, leading to reformed
religious groups with opposing views, namely the Protestants and Anglicans. In the wake of differing
opinions, people s group identification mattered significantly, determining what people they sided
with and who they couldn t tolerate. With more complex religious and political perspectives came
more opportunities for people to distance themselves from peers, family, and leaders ideologically.
Frequent mentions of treacherous actions within the literature of this time demonstrates that these
differing views made people feel betrayed by their associates. The idea of betrayal is prominent in the
lives and texts of several authors of this period, including Dante, Thomas More, and Niccolò
Machiavelli. From a Christian perspective, betrayal was a grave sin befitting serious punishment,
while it was irrational from a Humanist perspective and an inevitable, even beneficial part of mankind
from an amoral perspective. During the tumultuous political and religious climate of the High Middle
Ages and

Church In The Middle Ages
Church in the middle ages
During the middles ages, church was more than just the place you went to worship, it was a place of
power. It had a government, courts, a system of taxation, and laws. Teachings of the church influenced
everyone in the society. The Christian Church molded the way the culture was during the middle ages.
Christianity is the name given to the system of religious belief and practice which was taught by Jesus
Christ in the country of Palestine during the reign of the Roman Emperor Tiberius. Since Christianity
was the dominant religion during the Middle Ages, attempts to purify the church and society led to
many Christian campaigns against other religions. These campaigns were led by bishops, scholars and
warriors who made efforts to make the Christian world free of all the non Christians. ... Show more

The church even confirmed kings on their throne giving them the divine right to rule.

perspectives will arise. In the male dominated era of Greece, men were regarded as valiant warriors,
heroes of national importance, and overall superior beings while women were perceived as the
subordinate gender, often expected to remain in the household to bear and raise children. Since these
concepts are present in both texts, it is apparent that gender roles are the focal point of discussion in
Homer s and Atwood s literary works. With a more contemporary approach, the role of women can be
reassessed as something of great importance and power (Weinbaum 3). The goddesses depicted in The
Odyssey , Athena and Calypso, each represent an important theme of a woman s intelligence and
power to form bonds and the role in Odysseus homecoming, whether it is to provide guidance or cause
difficulty. Similarly in The Penelopiad , the maids residing in Odysseus household use their femininity
to build relationships with the suitors and utilize their power to obtain valuable information for
Odysseus wife Penelope. In addition, Penelope maintains her relationship with her husband and
remains faithful to assure a suitable homecoming for Odysseus.

My Personal Philosophy Of Innovation
Nursing Innovation and Leadership: A Personal Philosophy To embrace the person that you are, in a
time and place where everyone seems to be telling you that you should be everything but the person
that you are, is a daunting but worthwhile challenge. I believe that it is in the acceptance of our true
selves, imperfections and all, that we gain the ability to view others through a lens colored with
compassion and acceptance. It is then that we can become a leader who is self aware and emotionally
competent.
Personal Philosophy of Innovation My personal philosophy of innovation encompasses many ideas. It
is not only thinking outside of the box, but questioning why the box is even necessary. It is about
creating opportunity out of disappointment, being open to different, and unafraid of being vulnerable.
It is about breathing, living, and embodying the change that you want to see in the world and
exploring new paths in achieving that change. Innovation is being courageously defiant in the face of
the universe shouting You can t and replying with a resounding Watch me .
Personal Definition of Innovation I believe that innovation is the process of examining a new and
different method that cause one internally and/or spiritually look at something as you have never seen
it before, and the creation of a new meaning to the way that we relate to and interact with people, the
environment, health, and nursing.
Personal Philosophy of Leadership I believe that being a nursing

Oligarchy Vs Autocracy
The type of government that will fit on my island would be democracy, because it is a system of the
whole population of the state. I chose democracy because I would want my island to have laws similar
to the ones of the United States. The reason why I didn t choose autocracy or oligarchy is because
autocracy is a system of one government which means one person makes laws and has all the power to
control how things work on the island. Oligarchy is a system in which the groups are small and have
little little ideas for the island. The island will need large groups with leaders that will be in charge of
certain things on the island this is why I think having democracy is better than the other two. You will
have more groups to help you organize

Summary Of Planet Of Slums By Carre Davis
In Planet of Slums, Davis starts off by pointing out the fact that those living in cities accounts for
more than half of the world population. He also mentions that perhaps for the first time in history the
urban population of the earth will outnumber the rural. He goes on to describe this process with a
somewhat negative statement titled back to dickens (Davis 11). How this new urban order comes with
a price. There will be increasing inequality within and between cities of different sizes and economic
specializations. The latest report of UN, State of the World s Cities 2008/2009 Harmonious Cities
support Davis claim that cities of different sizes and economic specialization will have increased
inequality. Harmonious cities is a report

The Tragedy of Gay Marriage
Sam Schulman s The Worst Thing About Gay Marriage presents an interesting argument against gay
marriage that hinges upon maintaining a traditional form of marriage. He actually claims that gay
marriage is unnecessary (381). According to Schulman, there are 4 primary effects of marriage within
his definition he calls the kinship system. First, marriage protects and controls a woman s sexuality.
Second, the possible pairings are limited by the kinship system to avoid incest or other taboos. Third,
marriage creates a situation where licit sex can occur. Fourth, it places a clear divide between
childhood innocence and adult, married, life. All of which is in addition to maintaining a standard
family hierarchy, in which a marriage almost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marriage has evolved over time. Once, far back in history, when states were run in close cooperation
with religious leaders, a marriage was strictly the dominion of the church, and the only definition was
much like the one above (though they were more lax in avoiding incest than I would suspect
Schulman s proposed structure would be). In the eyes, there had to be a system where sex would be
legitimized, while women and children were protected from it and its consequences. This made sense
when repeated sex acts would almost definitely cause pregnancy, and possibly spread disease. As
religion and government split into different organizations, each retained a definition of marriage that
was a bit different from the other. Since religion held sway over what was considered pure and good,
it took it upon itself to retain the parts of the old structure that dealt with the morality and social
responsibility of marriage, and this is generally considered to be a social structure of marriage. And
now, the social form of marriage is migrating into being controlled by the couple who are being
married instead of their church. The government, on the other hand, became able to define who would
be able to marry and place official benefits and restrictions on a married couple, creating a legal
structure of marriage that was not the same as the social one. While

Causes And Symptoms Of Scarlet Fever
Scarlet fever was a serious disease back in the days, it was considered deadly but now with new and
medical improvement it s not as bad as before. Scarlet fever is a bacterial illness that develops in some
people who have strep throat. A English physician and researcher who had an interest in medicine
discovered this disease. Thomas Sydenham discovered scarlet fever during the 1670s and 1680s. He
made contribution to the modern medical science, like treatment to smallpox and measles. Scarlet
fever gets its name from the characteristic flush of the patient s skin, especially on the cheeks. Scarlet
fever is also known as Scarlatina or flesh eating infection.
Measles is another infection that would sometimes be confused with scarlet fever. They both ... Show

Scarlet fever is caused by group A Streptococcus, which are bacteria that lives in your mouth and
nasal passages. It basically a toxin released by the bacteria streptococcus pyogenes, the same organism
that causes strep throat. It s more common in children at the ages 5 to 15yr.
The most early age to get scarlet fever is at 4 years old. Around 80 percent of cases occur in children
under 10. It can be really easy to diagnosed and see if you have scarlet fever. Doctors may just

Demonstrative Theme Of Courtly Love In The Knight s Tale
Courtly love is a very demonstrative theme in The Knight s Tale. In this tale, two cousins are faced
with the temptations of courtly love as well as lust, and have to choose between their relationship, or a
fake relationship with a beautiful woman. For a better understanding, courtly love is a knight flirting
with a nobleman s wife or vice versa. But in this story, it is two men flirting with the same person.
This obviously destroys the relationship between the two flirtatious competitors, which is what
happens to Palamon and Arcite in this story. They are prisoners of war, and locked in a tower for
eternity. When they see a beautiful woman, Emily, they both fall in love, escape, and fight each other
for her hand.
The story starts with two cousins, Palamon and Arcite, locked in a tower in Athens after surviving a
battle. During their time in confinement, they see a woman in a garden. They immediately fall in love
and fight for her. When Palamon escapes, he, in disguise, works as a servant for Emilie s father.
Shortly after, Arcite escapes, and flees to a grove. It is the same grove as Palamon happens to be in.
when they discover each other, they are ready to fight to the death until Theseus, the Man who
originally captured them, finds them and decides to let them fight in a publicised arena, for Emilie s
hand. They both fight hard until Palamon wins Emilie s hand.
There are a lot of connections between Palamon and Arcite, and are important in this story. Both are

Tesla Model 3 Essay
After years of waiting and uncountable rumors, the Model 3 was officially launched on March 31,
2016. The launch gave insight into what to expect of the Model 3. CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk,
presented the first official photographs, price range, battery range, and autopilot capabilities of the
Model 3. The Model 3 will become the world s first fully autonomous, all electric, luxury vehicle for
the middle class. The Model 3 is an affordable vehicle with abstract specifications. Just how good is
the Tesla Model 3 though? During the launch of the Model 3, Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, presented the
first official photographs of the upcoming Model 3. After numerous leaks, the Model 3 met
expectations. The Model 3 incorporated design elements from previous Tesla vehicles such as: Model
S, Model X, and Roadster. The Model 3 was clean, sharp, and futuristic. As always, Tesla had
designed an extremely attractive car. After the Model S and the Model X, people began demanding
Tesla to design futuristic automobiles. Tesla definitely lived up to their expectations. The Model 3
design carried through to the public with a staggering 135,000 pre orders after the launch. The design
was not the only factor in these pre orders, but this unique design was certainly not overlooked.
However, some prospective customers were not pleased with the design of the Model 3. The people
who disliked the design said the Model 3 was too close a replica of the Model S. The negative
comments, however, did not faze

Organ Transplant
An organ transplant is a surgical operation conducted to replace an organ unable to function properly
with a new one. An organ, in turn, is an accumulation of cells and tissues gathered to perform the
functions of body. Therefore, any part of the body which acts as a performer of specific function is
called an organ. There are two possible ways of how the organ donation (OD) can take place. The first
is the donation of cadaveric organs (organs from recently deceased people). The decision to donate in
this way requires the consent of a person in the form of an indication on the driver license, like in the
USA (Gruessner, Benedetti, 2008, 54) or health care document as an organ donor card, in Netherlands,
Sweden, Ireland, for example ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Generally, Buddhism considers OD to be a positive act of human. Buddhists say that when a person
dies, he should be treated with a care, but there is no essential focus on physical integrity, i.e. body is
not necessary to be kept integral (Oliver et al, 2010, 4). From this one might come up with a thought
that buddhists focus on spiritual development and individual consciousness is given much attention in
the religion, while preservation of physical body might not be crucial. Consequently, giving an organ
to another person would not be perceived as inappropriate act, but rather as an expression of
generosity and altruism.
From the evidences presented above it may be concluded that none of the major religions forbids OD
to be done by a person. Basically, they encourage people to make self sacrificial, compassionate and
benevolent to the humanity acts, such as donations. Likewise, some religions leave a space for people
to identify whether they suppose OD to be an act of charity or mistreatment of individual s self esteem
by themselves. Religion mostly directs a person to follow a right, in their understanding, path on
grounds of what is appropriate and what should not be done to avoid mistakes or improper behavior.
Meanwhile, people, being followers of a particular religion, might interpret

The total dissolved solids in the sample water can be calculated from this reading using the following
formula: TDS = (0.548 x EC) + (2.2 x 10 6 x EC2) As with pH measurement, calibration of
conductivity meters should be performed using standards of a known concentration appropriate to the
anticipated range of conductivity of the water to be sampled. Calibration standards should be stored
appropriately (e.g. do not exceed use by dates, refrigeration) to ensure their accuracy. Dissolved
Oxygen: The amount of dissolved oxygen in a sample can vary with depth, temperature, and
biological demand. Measurements of dissolved oxygen can be most accurately obtained by placing the
probe directly into the water body to be sampled in an area with flow or moved, not too vigorously, to
simulate flow. Reduction/Oxidation potential (Redox): Measures the reducing or oxidising potential of
a water body. Field meters will return a value in Volts or millivolts with a negative value indicating a
reducing environment and a positive value indicating an oxidising one. Alkalinity/Acidity: Tests the
relative acidity or alkalinity of a water body. Alkalinity/Acidity can result from natural sources such as
the dissolution of carbonates or the presence of mineral or humic acids. Field testing of Alkalinity or
acidity can be performed using commercially available test strips or indicator solutions to provide
approximate values.

My Great Childmother And Irish Grandmother
As a fourth generation Irish citizen, my family emigrated from Ireland to the United States in
approximately 1870, during the post famine wave of Irish immigration. During this time, more
females came to the new land without the fetters of a husband, seeking a better future for herself and
marrying a man of whom has established himself in the U.S. In the case of my family, my great
grandmother traversed the Atlantic on her own terms in search of a higher standard of living and
ultimately an opportunity for advancement, marrying an established Irish man in Baltimore,
eventually moving north to Philadelphia, where she and my great grandfather raised my grandmother
and her four brothers. Interestingly enough, my great grandmother s story is similar to that of many
female Irish immigrants of her time. As previously stated, my grandmother immigrated to the United
States during the post famine wave of Irish immigration, which constituted for more female migration
who married men with land in America. Despite this wave having considerably more single female
migrants, many more men came to the U.S. than women in search of work. These men generally
worked industrial jobs; building the transcontinental railroad, mining, and home steading (Metress and
Metress 2006, 9). Many women, such as my great grandmother, worked as either factory girls or
maids, vastly improving the Irish s visibility in society, and eventually their social status. Maintaining
a presence and working alongside

Anatomical Theory Of Disease Essay
In this paper I am going to discuss the differences between the Humoral concept of disease, the
anatomical theory of disease, the germ theory of disease and the differences between each theory. I am
also going to look at the historical significance of these theories and how they apply to health and
wellness in today s health care. The humoral theory comes from an ancient Greek theory that states
that the human body is composed of four basic humors. The Humoral theory is derived from the word
humor, but in this context, means fluid . The Humoral theory is related to the theory of the earth and
the four elements. These elements are better known as earth, fire, water and air. The balance in these
earthly elements allows the earth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fundamental concept of this theory states that microorganisms can invade the body and cause
certain diseases or even death. Before this theory was accepted many people believed that a disease
was a punishment for a person s evil behavior not a medical problem. These three theories differ
because they all covered different barriers when it came to treating and understanding diseases. The
Humoral theory began with the four elements and the anatomical theory allowed us to take a deeper
look into the functioning of the bodies systems. This helped us to learn what was happening in the
body, in the body systems and in the organs. Without these two studies we would not have come to the
Germ Theory. Even though each theory is different in concept each theory was important and we
would not have been able to progress along to the next theory. If we would not have had the germ
theory we would not have discovered the need for vaccines or discovered antiseptics. These theories
also allowed physicians to learn to look at diseases on a micro (small scale) instead of just a macro
scale or big picture. I feel that these theories have led to significant changes in health care over the
years. These theories have allowed scientist to discover not only how to cure some disease but also
how to prevent diseases from spreading. Scientists were able to develop vaccines, antiseptics, create
personal protective equipment and enabled the public

The World Famous Pike place Fish Market
The World Famous Pike Place Fish Market John Yokoyama started working for Pike Place Fish in
Seattle, Washington, in 1960. At age 25, he used all his savings to purchase the unsuccessful business.
He spent the next 20 years running the Pike Place Fish Market, but he says in retrospect that he treated
his employees more like objects or collateral than human beings. He made a living, but his business
did not thrive. Finally, he realized his thoughts, feelings and attitudes were hindering his success.
This was the changing point. Yokoyama hired a consultant, Jim Bergquist, who helped him understand
how his thoughts, attitudes and actions limited his store s development and his employees potential.
Bergquist helped Yokoyama make powerful changes in his approach. They created a safe environment
for employees to express themselves openly and honestly, breaking down traditional communication
barriers and implementing peer coaching. Yokoyama and his staff began to envision how they could
make a real difference in the lives of other people through their business, far beyond anything they had
imagined. Because they wanted to have a world famous impact, they changed the shop s name to the
World Famous Pike Place Fish Market.
Teach Your Team the Lessons You Learned Yokoyama learned a few hard lessons. He learned that he
had to let go of his preconceived opinions about his employees, listen to their ideas and treat them
with respect, as individuals. He learned to look for the good in

  • 2. General Contribution Of The Core Knowledge From Overall... Question 1 This question relates to the general contribution of the core knowledge from this unit to overall managerial effectiveness. a) Outline how the core concepts in this unit relate to the overall effectiveness of managers, leaders and their organisations. (10 marks 300 words) The core concepts of the unit will enable executive staff to make better informed business decisions. Using concepts learned from the unit, theory as learned, can be applied to business situations and enables them to review situations in a nonlinear view. As quoted in the study guide To answer such questions using an economics looking glass we first have to define what economics is. Economics is a way of thinking. (Walker Murphy 2013). Traditionally, workers in siloed organisations, may concentrate and look at problems within the business relevant to their specific requirements, however, from an economic decision making point of view we can make a more informed decision. eg. An IT Executive may look at technology to solve a specific business problem, however an executive may apply economic concepts to provide an overall picture on the solution this may include but would not be limited to; Supply Demand Theory eg. The executive might need to budget and resource for labour. We might need to consider the relation between the two (that is supply and demand) and provide some mechanisms to forecast demand (such as regression). Production Theory the executive might need to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Republican Party supported the continuation of the Reconstruction of the South, while Grant stood on the platform of just having peace. The Democrats nominated Horatio Seymour. Grant won the election of 1868. The Era of Good Stealings Jim Fisk and Jay Gould devised a plot to drastically raise the price of the gold market in 1869. On Black Friday, September 24, 1869, the two bought a large amount of gold, planning to sell it for a profit. In order to lower the high price of gold, the Treasury was forced to sell gold from its reserves. Boss Tweed employed bribery, graft, and fraudulent elections to milk New York of as much ... The main disagreement between the two groups was over who would give the jobs to the people who voted in their favor. The Hayes Tilden Standoff, 1876 Congress passed a resolution that reminded the country, and Grant, of the two term tradition for presidency after Grant was speculating about running for a 3rd term. The Republicans chose Rutherford B. Hayes as their presidential candidate for the election of 1876. The Democrats chose Samuel J. Tilden. In the election, Tilden won the popular vote, but was 1 vote shy from winning in the Electoral College. The determining electoral votes would come from three states, Louisiana, South Carolina, and Florida who had each sent two sets of ballots to Congress, one with the Democrats victorious and the other with the Republicans victorious; there was no winner in these states. Frameworks are used to help organizations answer specific question. Enterprise Architecture framework importance is de emphasized deliberately sometimes. Example of Zachman Framework: Pros of Zachman Framework The Zachman framework is the most popular framework in the area of EA. It is a basis for some other frameworks such as, FEAF(Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework). You can hardly find written material on any EA framework without a reference to the Zachman framework. The framework is generic in that it can be used to classify the descriptive representations of any physical object as well as conceptual objects such as enterprises. It is also recursive in that it can be used to analyze the architectural composition of itself. Although the framework will carry the relation from one column to the other, it is still a fundamentally structural representation of the enterprise and not a flow representation. Another of the strengths of the Zachman Framework is that it explicitly shows a comprehensive set of views that can be addressed by enterprise architecture. Cons of Zachman Framework Zachman Framework can lead to a documentation heavy approach. .Each of the 36 cells in the Framework handles a different question that has to be documented. It can also lead to a process heavy approach to development . The Zachman Framework isn t well accepted within the development community and few developers even seem to have ... The educational system is corrupt because people are required to pay thousands of dollars or take out loans that are putting them in debts for years which is absurd. Students from all over the nation forced to take out loans that put them in debt for most of their life. Low income students also do not have many options for education and cannot afford one. The cost of education will keep on getting higher and higher as time progresses and the next president and congress of the democratic party needs to focus on this problem for students that are in college and for the ones who will be in the future. The education issue is one of the biggest challenges that the United States are facing today and needs to be fixed by lowering tuition, more options for low income students, and create more teaching jobs. Both political parties have different views on education and only one has the right mind to fixing the educational issue. • 7. Examples Of Iago Evil Iago is one of William Shakespeare s most evil villains. From the very beginning Iago is out to destroy Othello. No one really knows why Iago hates Othello so much, but there are many theories to why he does, such as iago states he s angry that othello looked past him for a promotion or the possibility that othello is having an affair with his wife. Iago s ability to manipulate and deceive people is truly evil, yet also genious. Iago is absolutely evil and shows it throughout the entire play. Iago s evil is shown in everything he says, does, and has a part of. For him to be able to constantly deceive his wife and friends shows how evil he is. Iago double crosses all the characters who consider him their friend. Most shockingly perhaps, he kills Roderigo, a Character who he has colluded with and been mostly honest with throughout the play (McCulloch). Iago could be described as amoral. He doesn t care about anything but himself. He will do anything to achieve what he wants and will not lose a bit of sleep over anybody he kills and/or deceives to get it. ... • 8. Environmental Issues Challenging The Clean Water Act Of... Coastal Area I live less than a mile from the San Francisco Bay and Estuary (SFBay). I wrote about this bay s environmental issues in the Unit #1 Learning Journal assignment and have decided to use this opportunity to elaborate on two specific environmental issues challenging the SFBay. To summarize this ecosystem: It s the largest bay and estuary on the Pacific coast and has been damaged by industrial activity, starting in 1850 with the Gold Rush and quickly followed by the logging, railroad and salt pond industries. Its biggest threats are pollution, water diversion and filling in. Conservation efforts began in 1965 and today the SFBay is collectively overseen by government and private organizations. Two environmental problems the SFBay faces are mercury contamination and overfishing. The Clean Water Act lists the SFBay as impaired for mercury. Estimates suggest the bay s sediment is contaminated with about two hundred metric tons of mercury, much going back to original Gold Rush. This pollutant has affected SFBay biota resulting in a state issued fish advisory waning not to eat some common fish such as Striped bass and limited intake of other species (OEHHA, 2011; Ely Viani, 2010). At the same time humanity was busy cutting down thousand year old redwood trees and hydraulically destroying the Sierra Mountains, they were also busy pillaging the SFBay for fish, shellfish and perhaps the unlucky whale pod that happened by. Lattice systems are organized to promote ingenuity and performance without hierarchy of authority (Grant, 2010, p. 412). Gore s intent was to create an environment with self managed associates pursuing personal commitments and working together to achieve diverse innovations (p. 412). The success of W.L. Explanation of Relevant Concepts, Theories and Application Derived from Course Materials Lattice systems grant several advantages for an organization looking to prosper from diversified talent. However, it creates complicated parameters on how an employee should be compensated when a framework is not present for guidance. Mayhem (2012) presented Gore s acknowledgement of the complexity when he stated it s unrealistic for people to set their own salaries (para 3). Gore s alternative was to compensate based on annual peer reviews. Although companies should consider peer reviews during an employee evaluation, the associates should not be in control of the compensation of others. If a company uses this approach it can cause skewed evaluations with various ratings due to personal differences. It was in these activities I witnessed how calicivirus (non zoonotic) and ringworm (zoonotic) were being spread among the animals due to staff s lack of biosecurity measures. While calicivirus is not a zoonotic disease, it is a highly transmissible disease among cats, especially when proper protocols to prevent spread are not observed. Animals identified with calicivirus have cage cards and signs on their cages alerting the staff to their condition. Other considerations for zoonotic disease in shelter medicine are: toxoplasmosis, toxocariosis, pasteurellosis, and bartonellosis. In response to educating the public on these diseases and how they were transmitted, I developed a flyer to display at the shelter as well as provide as a handout to all adopters. I developed separate flyers for each disease determined with zoonotic potential that was most common in this shelter (ringworm) and most well known (rabies). Copies of the products developed are attached to the end of this report (Appendix 2 3). In the future, if received well, then additional flyers could be created for other zoonotic diseases. While doing research at the shelter, it became evident staff members did not know what a zoonotic disease meant. I informally discussed zoonotic disease with three staff members that represent the areas of the shelter with the most public interactions (cat nook, kennels, and front office) and asked them the same three questions: 1. What does a zoonotic disease mean? 2. Does the shelter have any zoonotic diseases currently? 3. Can you name one zoonotic disease? The answers were as follows: 1. Additionally, by focusing on the characteristics of classroom assessment (learner centered, teacher directed, mutually beneficial, formative, context specific, ongoing, and firmly rooted in good practice) educators can see what students are learning. • 15. American Auto Controversy The American Autobahn Believe it or not there is a road system in which there is no speed limit. It is called the autobahn and is located in Germany. However unlike many people think it is not a single road but rather a series of motorways that stretch across all of Germany. The autobahn is not without restrictions though. There are in some areas speed limits set during inclement weather. There is also rules such as it is illegal to stop on the side of the road and pass other vehicles if you are to the right of them. Now this sounds so great that the obvious American thing to do is to steal the idea that many have already proposed. It is only a matter of time until politicians throughout America will succumb to the pressures to create a similar system of roads around the nation. It would certainly increase the revenue for nearby businesses due to the newfound tourism. The new road system would be safer in comparison to a speed regulated highway. One very promising area of this road happens to cross the Bonneville salt flats, already known for it s rich history of speed. A toll however would be necessary to keeping the road in an exceptional condition to insure the safety of the drivers. I believe that patriotism is actively showing your support for your country, standing up for what you believe in, and fighting for our individual free will and independence. I am proud of my country and I am not ashamed to fly the American Flag. Many men and women have died to give me the freedoms that I take for granted. America stands for diversity and to have patriotism to her is to believe that all people have a right to believe in thier own system of values. I do not agree with Emma Goldman, who stated: Patriotism assumes that our globe is divided into little spots, each one surrounded by an iron gate. Those who had the fortune of being born on some particular spot, consider themselves better, nobler, grander, more intelligent then the living beings inhabited by any other spot. It is therefore, the duty of everyone living on that chosen spot to fight, kill and die in the attempt to impose his superiority upon all others. On the contrary, patriotism stands for fighting for everyone to have the same freedom that I do. We did not ask for terrorist to attack our country, but it is our duty to defend her, not blindly as people would say we do, but earnestly keeping the good of all in mind. Richard Maybury, author of Early Warning Report, wrote: The only thing I would be willing to die for is my home and family; I would do what ever it takes to repel an invader, to protect my homeland. As I ve grown older, I couldn t help but notice more and more downfalls to driving. One particular experience with my uncle and two of my cousins stands out more than the rest. • 19. Similarities Between Middle Ages And Renaissance The end of the Middle Ages and beginning of the Renaissance brought many shifts to European societal structure. The face of Christianity changed considerably from the fourteenth century to the mid sixteenth century, beginning with disagreement over who should hold absolute power, the Pope or the Holy Roman Emperor. While the corporate Catholic church had once maintained a fairly unified influence on society, a more nuanced form of Christianity began developing, leading to reformed religious groups with opposing views, namely the Protestants and Anglicans. In the wake of differing opinions, people s group identification mattered significantly, determining what people they sided with and who they couldn t tolerate. With more complex religious and political perspectives came more opportunities for people to distance themselves from peers, family, and leaders ideologically. Frequent mentions of treacherous actions within the literature of this time demonstrates that these differing views made people feel betrayed by their associates. The idea of betrayal is prominent in the lives and texts of several authors of this period, including Dante, Thomas More, and Niccolò Machiavelli. From a Christian perspective, betrayal was a grave sin befitting serious punishment, while it was irrational from a Humanist perspective and an inevitable, even beneficial part of mankind from an amoral perspective. • 22. Odyssey Vs Penelopiad Essay When studying the texts of Homer s The Odyssey and Margaret Atwood s The Penelopiad , varying perspectives will arise. In the male dominated era of Greece, men were regarded as valiant warriors, heroes of national importance, and overall superior beings while women were perceived as the subordinate gender, often expected to remain in the household to bear and raise children. Since these concepts are present in both texts, it is apparent that gender roles are the focal point of discussion in Homer s and Atwood s literary works. With a more contemporary approach, the role of women can be reassessed as something of great importance and power (Weinbaum 3). The goddesses depicted in The Odyssey , Athena and Calypso, each represent an important theme of a woman s intelligence and power to form bonds and the role in Odysseus homecoming, whether it is to provide guidance or cause difficulty. Similarly in The Penelopiad , the maids residing in Odysseus household use their femininity to build relationships with the suitors and utilize their power to obtain valuable information for Odysseus wife Penelope. I believe that it is in the acceptance of our true selves, imperfections and all, that we gain the ability to view others through a lens colored with compassion and acceptance. It is then that we can become a leader who is self aware and emotionally competent. Personal Philosophy of Innovation My personal philosophy of innovation encompasses many ideas. It is not only thinking outside of the box, but questioning why the box is even necessary. It is about creating opportunity out of disappointment, being open to different, and unafraid of being vulnerable. The Tragedy of Gay Marriage Sam Schulman s The Worst Thing About Gay Marriage presents an interesting argument against gay marriage that hinges upon maintaining a traditional form of marriage. He actually claims that gay marriage is unnecessary (381). According to Schulman, there are 4 primary effects of marriage within his definition he calls the kinship system. First, marriage protects and controls a woman s sexuality. Second, the possible pairings are limited by the kinship system to avoid incest or other taboos. Third, marriage creates a situation where licit sex can occur. Fourth, it places a clear divide between childhood innocence and adult, married, life. Once, far back in history, when states were run in close cooperation with religious leaders, a marriage was strictly the dominion of the church, and the only definition was much like the one above (though they were more lax in avoiding incest than I would suspect Schulman s proposed structure would be). In the eyes, there had to be a system where sex would be legitimized, while women and children were protected from it and its consequences. This made sense when repeated sex acts would almost definitely cause pregnancy, and possibly spread disease. As religion and government split into different organizations, each retained a definition of marriage that was a bit different from the other. Since religion held sway over what was considered pure and good, it took it upon itself to retain the parts of the old structure that dealt with the morality and social responsibility of marriage, and this is generally considered to be a social structure of marriage. And now, the social form of marriage is migrating into being controlled by the couple who are being married instead of their church. The government, on the other hand, became able to define who would be able to marry and place official benefits and restrictions on a married couple, creating a legal structure of marriage that was not the same as the social one. An organ, in turn, is an accumulation of cells and tissues gathered to perform the functions of body. Therefore, any part of the body which acts as a performer of specific function is called an organ. There are two possible ways of how the organ donation (OD) can take place. The first is the donation of cadaveric organs (organs from recently deceased people). The decision to donate in this way requires the consent of a person in the form of an indication on the driver license, like in the USA (Gruessner, Benedetti, 2008, 54) or health care document as an organ donor card, in Netherlands, Sweden, Ireland, for example ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Generally, Buddhism considers OD to be a positive act of human. Buddhists say that when a person dies, he should be treated with a care, but there is no essential focus on physical integrity, i.e. body is not necessary to be kept integral (Oliver et al, 2010, 4). From this one might come up with a thought that buddhists focus on spiritual development and individual consciousness is given much attention in the religion, while preservation of physical body might not be crucial. Consequently, giving an organ to another person would not be perceived as inappropriate act, but rather as an expression of generosity and altruism. From the evidences presented above it may be concluded that none of the major religions forbids OD to be done by a person. Basically, they encourage people to make self sacrificial, compassionate and benevolent to the humanity acts, such as donations. Likewise, some religions leave a space for people to identify whether they suppose OD to be an act of charity or mistreatment of individual s self esteem by themselves. Religion mostly directs a person to follow a right, in their understanding, path on grounds of what is appropriate and what should not be done to avoid mistakes or improper behavior. My Great Childmother And Irish Grandmother As a fourth generation Irish citizen, my family emigrated from Ireland to the United States in approximately 1870, during the post famine wave of Irish immigration. The humoral theory comes from an ancient Greek theory that states that the human body is composed of four basic humors. The fundamental concept of this theory states that microorganisms can invade the body and cause certain diseases or even death. Before this theory was accepted many people believed that a disease was a punishment for a person s evil behavior not a medical problem. These three theories differ because they all covered different barriers when it came to treating and understanding diseases. The Humoral theory began with the four elements and the anatomical theory allowed us to take a deeper look into the functioning of the bodies systems. This helped us to learn what was happening in the body, in the body systems and in the organs. Without these two studies we would not have come to the Germ Theory. Even though each theory is different in concept each theory was important and we would not have been able to progress along to the next theory. If we would not have had the germ theory we would not have discovered the need for vaccines or discovered antiseptics. These theories also allowed physicians to learn to look at diseases on a micro (small scale) instead of just a macro scale or big picture. I feel that these theories have led to significant changes in health care over the years.
