Article Rebuttal
Marriage is not about a piece of paper, a ring, or sexual preference. It has never been about any of
these matters, and should not be considered so. Marriage is the commitment between two people
who love each other unconditionally. According to Psychology Today, marriage is the process
by which two people who love each other make their relationship public, official, and permanent
(Psychology Today, 2002) . Anyone can get married, but it takes dedication and work to make a
marriage last and be successful. This paper will specifically discuss an article written by Jan
LaRue, Why Homosexual Marriage Is Wrong and what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In saying this she is being selective to support her argument, and in doing so is being confirmation
biased. Who is to say that homosexuality is more unholy, or wrong, than divorce, adultery, and
lying? Logical Fallacies
The fallacy that was used in this article is false attribution because of the biased attributes in the
argument. For example, saying that marriage has to be limited to only a man and a woman is
not discriminating, yet it clearly is because of the biased feelings of homosexual relationships.
Another type of fallacy that was used is the fallacy of ambiguity; when an abstract belief is
treated as if it were concrete evidence. Religion is not based on scientific concrete evidence, but
merely a belief in something. The Bible has been written and rewritten by man, and has lack of
evidence supporting that there is a God.
Conclusion
Many base their idea of right and wrong on biased conclusions and/or religion. This makes the
issue hard to decipher between who is right and wrong. Biased conclusions do not make the idea
correct. The idea that only a man and a woman can fall in love with each other, and not a man and
a man or a woman and a woman, is based on favoritisms in how someone feels about the issue.
Articles, such as the one above, have the intentions of sharing their beliefs in the hope of others
adopting that particular belief. The question that should be presented is,

Jonas Role In Nazi Germany
In Nazi Germany, during Adolf Hitler s reign, from 1933 1945, Jonas MГјller was a prominent
member of the Nazi party. His peers considered him a leader because he was Hitler s right hand
man when it came to tactical plans and military strategies. Jonas, so dedicated to the cause,
would kill himself in the end after learning of his commander s own suicide. The story of his life
is one of dedication and passion for a political party that was taking over Europe by brute force.
Jonas MГјller, best known for being an advisor to Adolf Hitlerduring his reign of the Nazi Party in
the 1930s and 1940s, born on April 11, 1896 in Berlin, Germany, was a key player during the Nazi

People all around were dying of starvation or committing suicide to avoid that miserable end.
However, since Jonas became a household name for his participation in the war, he was quickly
able to find work as a policeman. Although times were tough, the couple enjoyed their life
together and did not face the terrible circumstances that most of the nation was going through. It
was unpleasant for Jonas and Hannah to witness the severe poverty and terrible conditions that
people were living in, it made them even more grateful for their fortunate opportunities. It only
took them ten months after the end of the war to conceive. Hannah gave birth to twins, Erich
and Klaus, On October 8, 1919, with an ecstatic husband. By 1921 the family of four had grown
and added four more boys, Heinrich, Rolf, Erwin, and Friedrich. The family felt blessed and
excited to have grown so quickly since having a large family in the post war time got praise
from political leaders. Germany had lost over two million of its population as a direct result of the
war, with many more wounded. The nation was in desperate need to repopulate the missing

Two Main Ways Scientists Learn About Earth s Interior
Plate Tectonics There are two main ways scientists learn about Earth s Interior. The first way is,
of rock samples. Scientists use drills to get as close as they can to get to the center of the earth,
they also looked at rocks that spat out of volcanos during a volcanic explosion. The second way is,
because of seismic waves. They study how seismic waves travel through Earth, seismic waves are
vibrations that travel through Earth carrying energy, released during an earthquake. Those were the
two main ways how scientists learned about Earth s interior. Crust, Mantle, and Core

One evidence of this theory is molten material. Molten Material is magma erupting from mid
ocean ridges. Alvin the submarine found weird rocks shaped like pillows or toothpaste. This tells
us this magma cools quickly underwater. Another type of evidence are magnetic stripes.
Magnetic stripes are patterns in the ocean floor to prove Earth s magnetic field has reversed itself
in history. Scientist also looked at the magnetic memory of the rocks. Scientist drilled pipes
through water to drill holes into the ocean floor. Scientists discovered that the older rocks were
further away and younger rocks were closer. Those were the three types of evidence that scientist
used to support the theory of Sea Floor Spreading.
Plate Boundaries
There are three different types of plate boundaries. The first type of plate boundaries is, the
spreading boundary. A spreading boundary is when two plates move apart. The spreading
boundary is also known as a divergent boundary. The second type of plate boundary is a colliding
boundary. A colliding boundary is when two plates come together, or collide. It is also known as
convergent boundary. The third is, a sliding boundary. A sliding boundary is when two plates slip
past each other moving in opposite directions. It is also known as transform boundary. Those were

Statement Of Purpose In Computer Science And Engineering
Statement of Purpose
Science is the bedrock of modern civilization. With it the fantasies of yesteryears are becoming
realities. The world is changing and advancing at a stupendous rate. Every day new frontiers of the
unknown and unimagined are opening up and new mysteries are being unravelled. It is the lure of
such a challenge that draws me to scientific research and that is the reason I am seeking admission
at the University of Texas Arlington, for a M.S in ManagementInformation Systems commencing
Fall 2016. As a Statement of Purpose of my graduate study, I would like to describe my academic
and professional background, area of interest and career goals. It was in the department of Computer
Science and Engineering at Malla Reddy Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, Telangana, one of
India s deemed and foremost educational Institutes that my understanding and knowledge of
Computer Science burgeoned. In the field of Computer Science and Engineering, my area of
interest is Database Management systems, Programming Languages and Design and
Implementation of Testing Methodologies. I possess strong conceptual knowledge of Operating
Systems, Database Management Systems and Programming Languages. Programming languages
have given me the milieu to put theory into practice and have helped me keep my logical skills

Nature s Gold and Ghost Stories Essay
Life and death are leaves us with an known and unknown that are unavoidable. In the poem
Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost symbolism, rhyme, and allusion are used to describe not
only nature s life cycle but the human life cycle as well. The allegory Used to Live Here Once by
Jean Rhys uses symbolism and motif to deliver a story of a woman who has died but is unaware
that she has actually passed away. Even though both of these pieces of literature utilize similar
elements that symbolize the humanlife cycle in their writings they are very different in nature, and
the poem Nothing Gold Can Stay leaves you with an actual reality of all beings lifecycles and the

This first use of symbolism differs from the allegory Used to Live Here Once. The second
sentence is where the narrator starts the use of symbolism to explain the different steps in life
through the explanation of the rocks in a river. The round unsteady stone, the pointed one, the
flat one in the middle the safe stone where you could stand and look around, the unsteady stone
represents life as a child, when we are first learning to walk and talk, the pointed stone is the
apex of our journey through life, the flat stone was after our hard days were done, such as when
we are older and more mature, and the safe stone represents when you took a step back and
decided not to engage life, but life is for living so you must continue to move forward and not
stand off to the side. Finally the narrator explains one more rock, The next one wasn t so safe for
when the river was full the water flowed over it and even when it showed dry it was slippery,
this sentence explains her current situation. Being that she had died and does not realize that yet,
she is in a situation to where even though everything looks right the next step is a slippery one,
soon she will find out that she is no longer alive. The first use of symbolism in each of these
pieces is about life, one tells us that life is a precious thing, where

number of monocytes in the blood (monocytosis) occurs in response to chronic infections, in
autoimmune disorders, in blood disorders, and in certain cancers. An increase in the number of

Children With Suspected Childhood Apraxia Of Speech
Introduction
Child hood Apraxia of Speech is a motor speech disorder that affects children s ability to say
sounds, syllables, and words. The brain has trouble coordinating muscle movements that are
needed for speech. The child knows exactly what to speak, but the brain has trouble coordinating
the muscle movements. It is different for every person that has this type of disorder. In some other
cases, it can be an unknown cause, meaning it can happen out of the blue, or by mutations. One of
the articles is based off of reliability and validity testing and scoring by the Dynamic Evaluation of
Motor Speech Skills, while the other has different assessments that were tested and transcribed.
First Summary of Article One
In the article, Differential Diagnosis of Children with Suspected Childhood Apraxia of Speech , the
authors describe the signs of a child having Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). If a child is
suspected of having CAS, here are a few symptoms that can occur, shifting errors on consonants and
vowels in repetitive syllables and sounds, incorrect prosody, and interrupted articulatory between
sounds and syllables. (Murray, McCabe, Heard, Ballard, 2015, p.44). A tool that is used to identify
CAS is a Strands 10 point checklist. (Shriberg, Potter, Strand, 2012). This is a checklist that
contains 10 segmental and suprasegmental structures. Authors say that this checklist doesn t lead to
an exact assessment, but authors rely on it (Strand, McCauley, Weigand,

Some PHRs are obtainable by covered entities under the Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule. The HIPAA Privacy Rule applies to these types of
PHRs. However, in the cases where PHRs are not offered by HIPAA covered entity, it becomes
the responsibility of the PHR vendor to establish privacy policies and follow any laws that may
apply protecting the data in the PHR (HHS, 2003). HIPAA covered entities are regulated by the
Privacy Rule on how they access the PHR to enter health information. Furthermore the Privacy Rule
oversees the use and disclosure of an individual s protected health information (PHI) and EHR,
gives individuals certain rights to their health information, and requires the cover entity to
appropriately safeguard health information. Covered entities may hire a third party entity, as a
business associate, to administer the PHR and its related tasks. The covered entity must ensure that
the information will be appropriately safeguarded by the business associate through a contract or

Introduction
Strategic management contains various subjects and topics, most of which do not have the
consistent identity (Ketchen, Boyd and Bergh, 2008). It is no doubt that there are still many
debates towards strategy concept. In this essay, the article crafting strategy will be reviewed. This is
analysed by putting the article in to a wider debate about strategy, then discussing its main strengths
and weaknesses.
Placing of the article in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This idea fully reflects the complexity for the business world, even though Mintzberg has an ardent
preference towards emergent strategy, there is no guaranty that this is the most suitable or perfect
method for all business. Besides, other analyses also illustrate the importance of strategy making
blends autonomy and planning in emergent strategy mode. To be more specific, by combining
those two modes, organisation is able to gain productive adaptive capability and optimal alignment
in firm through adapting to unpredictable environment in emergent strategy mode and coordinating
business activities to complete company s efficiency in strategy planning (Andersen and Nielsen.
2009).
Another strength of this article is the statement about strategic thinking. Fiona (2002) points out
that the central to sustain competitive advantage is to have a creative and divergent strategic
thinking. This fresh perspective represents a new way for managers to consider and evaluate the
operation of organisation. Just as Mintzberg mentions, strategic thinking is captured by informal
learning from diverse sources included experiences, leading to an integrated view towards the firm,
and then synthesizing the learning into an image of the business direction (1994). In contrast, many
administrators merely analyse the figures and graphs, but

According to Mrs. K s history, what risk factors does she have for the development of iron
deficiency anemia and what labs are included in the diagnosis?
Lynn has a higher risk for developing iron deficiency anemia because of her pregnancy. She also
indicated that the does not take her prenatal vitamins daily and according to her 24 hour diet recall,
she is not getting an adequate amount of nutrients in her diet. Lynn states that she suffered from
heavy periods prior to her pregnancy.
Rationale: According to Rao Georgieff (2007), there is an association between pregnancy and an
increase demand for iron. Pregnancy demands about 1,000 mg of additional iron due to the
expanding RBCs and plasma volumes of the mother and the growing placenta. Maternal iron is
important for the transfer of the necessary amount of iron to the fetus, important for the
development and function of the organ systems. Mothers with a poor iron status and malnutrition
can lead to iron deficiency anemia, especially if the woman had insufficient iron before pregnancy

Stereotypes As A Cause Of Identity
When it comes to the topic of stereotypes, most of us will readily agree that each and everyone of
us fits into at least one of them regarding our gender, age, race, and more. Where this agreement
usually develops is on the question of whether or not we know how to respond to these
stereotypes. Therefore, it can be said that the stereotypes imposed on one individual can cause him
or her to stimulate personal insecurities as a young person. Yet, as they mature, they are able to
realize that one can avoid this phase of self deprecation by not embodying those negative
stereotypes, thereby emphasizing that although one doesn t have control of the stereotypes, they
can still resist the negative impacts. Claude Steele, a social psychologist... Show more content on

They were in fact, very untrue and had resulted to her mother feeling invalidated not only by
other people, but sadly, even her daughter as well. Furthermore, Tan s perception of her mother
is not only limited but she also enabled her mother s broken English to impact and limit her as a
student. To illustrate, in her high school years, she mainly pursued math and science because she
believed her mother s english skills reflected her. She expressed she nearly believed her mother s
English almost had an effect on limiting [her] possibilities in life as well (Tan, 29). This implies
that Tan is condemning her mother s English ability as a restriction on her opportunities in life,
understanding it as the root of her bad English. Yet, I disagree because by

if they wish to pursue and education. There are four major teachers that Siddharthatruly takes
something from, these teachers are Govinda, Kamala, Vasudeva, and the river itself. Another

When Siddhartha asks Kamala to be his teacher, it is a shock, specifically because he has relayed
to Govinda that he was not satisfied with the teachings of the Samanas. Nevertheless, Siddhartha
follows through and is a good student, He visited the beautiful Kamala regularly, learned the art
of love in which, more than anything else, giving and taking become one. He talked to her,
learned from her, gave her advice, received advice. She understood him better than Govinda had
once done. She was more like him (Hesse 58). This shows that Siddhartha has made a much
deeper connection with Kamala than he has anyone before. These connections then show us that
Siddhartha has learned about attachment, something that he did not have as a Samana. But,
Siddhartha would always have a part of the Samana in him, and this is relayed by Kamala when
she says, She was not surprised when she learned that Siddhartha had disappeared [...] Was he
not a Samana, without a home, a pilgrim? She had felt it more than ever at their last meeting, and
in the midst of her pain at her loss, she rejoiced that she had pressed him so close to her heart on
that last occasion, had felt so completely possessed and mastered by him (Hesse 68). In this

The Book Of Ser Marco Polo
The Book of Ser Marco Polo is a thirteenth century edition that was transcribed by Marco Polo s
cell mate and was later translated by Henry Yule (266). Marco Polo is a son to Nicolo Polo a
trader who entered the city of Cambaluc a center of Chinese civilization in the Yuan period
(266). Marco was subsequently captured and put in prison and this book was created out of the
stories he was telling his cell mate while they were passing time at the Genoese prison (266). By
reading through this book; we can explore more about its content plus citation, its
communication as well as context, and its connection and conclusion (266). The first items the
author portrays in this document are its contents plus citation. In the contents section, the main
ideas depicted are idolatry, innovations, and the superstition (275). For instance, it was narrated
that the people within the society at that time practiced Idolatry. They loved and adore their rule
the Great Khan, to extend that some were calling him lord of lords, but his real name was
Cublay (266).The worshipping of the leader in the society also can be seen during ceremonies
like birthdays that were held at the court. For example, at any court occasion, the leader s table
was elevated above the others and at some point people could drop on their knees to make a
deeper obeisance before him (269).The narrator also indicates that Cathayans were idolaters,

research method (Ying and Patel, 2016) .And the results agreed with the hypothesis developed and
literature reviewed that Chinese students in China are more inter dependant on the self construal
variable which relates to the educational and cultural environment being an influence on it .Further
examinations have been done to provide empirical evidence regarding the influence of self
construal on skeptical judgments of an individual. The paper also addresses prior theoretical
limitations as well as mentions culture and educational influence has not been emphasized in the
original paper adequately. The findings draws the conclusion that accounting is not just about the

Political Philosophy Of Liberalism
Liberalism is a political viewpoint that is established on the thoughts of liberty and equality. Thus,
liberalists promote various ideas that are aligned to the concepts of liberty and equality such as
freedom of speech, freedom of religion, gender equality, and civil rights. In general, it can be
argued that the philosophy of liberalismis focused on protecting and promoting the freedom of the
people (Celikates and Jansen). As such, it presents the people as the central issue of politics. In
fact, according to the liberalists, the main function of the government is to protect individuals from
being oppressed by others. Nonetheless, liberalists are also aware that in the process of offering

3. What is neoliberalism (you get a sense of neoliberalism in David Harvey, Elizabeth Povinelli,
Michel Foucault, and Wendy Brown s work)? What critiques of neoliberalism do Harvey,
Povinelli, and Brown offer? Neoliberalism refers to a perspective that sees mall time as working
time. It encourages people to participate in socio economic activities at all the time in a bid to
realizing the desired development. It plays an essential role in empowering the people to remain
committed to realizing success in life by engaging them to work at all the times (Harvey 44). It
does not acknowledge the significance of leisure in the socio economic development of an
individual. Critics of neoliberalism are against the fact that a person solely focuses on realizing
success at the expense of their wellbeing. It is of the essence for a person to allocate adequate
time for rest and leisure to realize the desired socio economic success (Harvey 47). Although the
critics of neoliberalism are not against working, they are against the non stop working of the

of oversea firms and production that has captivated and elevated the consumer auto market

current structure of the US auto industry is a who s who of Fortune 500 companies, with long

The Miners Strike 1984 Essay
Throughout the century British coal had become increasingly costly and difficult to mine.
Nationalization in 1948 had not altered this. Indeed, there was a case for saying that lack of
government investment since that date had added to the problem. For some time Britain had been
importing coal from abroad. With the exception of few pits producing particular types of coal,
British mines by the 1970s were running at loss. When Margaret Thatcher became Prime Minister
the first thing she wanted to do was limit union power. She felt that union power applied to
nationalized industrial monopolies resulted in poor service at exorbitant cost to the taxpayers. She

Thatcher reduced trade union power. She was helped also by rapidly rising unemployment which
acted as a major disincentive to many going on strike or pressing to hard for higher wages. The
trigger for Britain s most bitter industrial dispute of recent times was the announcement that one
Yorkshire pit, Cortonwood near Barnsley, was to close, all over Yorkshire walked out, not
realising that it would be a year before they returned. Whereas previous coal strikes had been over
in a matter of weeks, this time both union and government dug in for a lengthy battle. In the end,
the biggest losers were ordinary miners. However there was a strong counter argument advanced by
the miners union and the other analysts. They suggested that with a proper investment programme
backed by a genuine government commitment to coal as a long term power source, large parts of
the British coal industry still had a profitable future. The social consequences of widespread pit
closures would be catastrophic. The impact of the strike was much wider than just in the mining
industry and the regions: the scenes of violence between strikes and police regularly seen on
television shocked the nation and divided public opinion. Polls suggested that 65% of the people
supported the government and the police 35% of the miners. social commentators suggested that
the violent clashes that frequently accompanied the strike stimulated a general strike

Theme Of Sin In The Scarlett Letter
Sin and Symbols in The Scarlett Letter Sin is present in everyone s life and no human can escape
its reach. In The Scarlett letter the main conflict is rooted in one sin between a man and a woman
in colonial Massachusetts. The sin was adultery and there are several vital themes and symbols that
stem from it. Sincontrols and characterizes lives in so many ways that people do not realize. This
is highlighted throughout The Scarlett Letter. Sin and revenge are symbolized by Pearl and
nature in many instances throughout several different chapters. Sin is the most prominent and
reoccurring theme in The Scarlett Letter. Opportunities arose due to Hester s husband being
away for an extended period. After Hester committed adultery with Reverend Dimmesdale her
life was forever changed and furthermore characterized by this theme. He could never escape his
inner guilt for his sin with Hester but could not bring himself to publicly repent. Hester
continued her series of poor choices by agreeing to keep the father of her baby a secret, so he
would not be publicly punished and shamed. The theme continues when her husband arrives in
town angry that she is pregnant, and she also promises to keep his identity a secret to the public.
Her husband, Roger Chillingworth, is then overcome with anger and strives for revenge as he is
seemingly possessed by evil. Hester aids in this sin by not warning Reverend Dimmesdale of
Chillingworth s identity. Chillingworth quickly befriends the Reverend

Imagery In Nikki Giovanni s Knoxville, Tennessee
Images are important as images can speak a great number of words. Nikki Giovanni s poem
Knoxville, Tennessee uses imagery to depict the theme of joys of childhood and family. The lines
you can eat fresh corn/from daddy s garden (lines 3 4) depicts an image of a comfortable family
feel with a home style vibe. The imagery of the food can help contribute to the theme as the
unidentified person has ate with his familyand is reminiscing about it showing the love and
importance of family. The simplicity of the words fresh and daddy are strong words which help
show the image in your mind. The lines, and be warm/ all the time/ not only when you go to bed
/ and sleep (lines 21 24) depicts an image of a person being warm and comfortable at the same
time. The meaning of those lines... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

with the simplicity of the words show that the writing is like a child s. The words homemade
and barbecue can create a emotional connection between the reader and the piece of literature
where it can create a reminiscence of a family gathering from childhood. The lines and go to the

poet s diction is simple. The simplicity of the words in the quote shows that it can be read by even
a young child. The words barefooted and warm can create a connection between the reader and the
writing where it can create a reminiscence of a moment when the reader walked or did something

Washington s Troops In The Pursuit Of Happyness
This years I have chosen washington s troops in the pursuit of happyness. Not just happiness, but
the pursuit. As I start to talk to some of these other men, they look a little tired but not a ton as of
a few days without sleep. Then i found out why. We made a journey with 20,000 troops to new
york. This was a fast moving army and I know now why they were tired. But when we got there
on an island. When it got dark the fog settled in and rolled in very thick, couldn t even see me
hands on my musket. In the standing, we were surrounded by british and had no way out. We then
were helped by some fisherman and some small boats. Overnight all of us and the horse with
equipment in the thickest fag right under their cannon s. This is why we can call George our leader.

This is where I came to find the british unloading hundreds of pounds on us. Then seeing friends
from the start dumping and running. Running for their lives, have my life flash before my eye s
but I had also run. But is was different, i didn t dump my gun, as i saw my friend fall, I remember
the pledge we took coming into this army. Give me liberty or give me death. SO I fell acting like
I got shot by this pile of supplies and started shooting with what little things I still had. Then I
looked over and saw another friend from the start and shooting next to me. Then when washington
went face to face, I was considering running, so when the british faced washington, we got up
with 4 guns between the two of us and got out thinking they would shoot and we would fall. It
was terrible to leave washington like that. But we wanted to leave and be alive to make a bigger

Jeeps And Mustangs Comparison
What purpose and capabilities should a vehicle you own have? It may depend on where you live
or how far you need to commute for work. It may even depend on how you want people to
perceive you. Some capabilities may include needing to drive through deep snow, or just
needing to get somewhere quickly. A few vehicles I would like to purchase in the future are a
Ford Mustang and a Jeep Wrangler. Depending on where you live either one of these would be a
good source of transportation. Most notably, Jeeps and Mustangs differ in their appearance,
driving capabilities, and handling precision, but because of where I live I would prefer the
Wrangler over the Mustang. Jeeps and Mustangs differ in their appearance. Jeeps are compact
utility vehicles;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Mustang is very sporty, and has a collection of instantly recognizable visuals such as its long
hood and short rear deck proportions. The Mustang may beat the Wrangler in its sleek design,
but the cramped interior is inferior to the available leg room in the Wrangler. Jeep Wranglers are
known for their wide range of driving capabilities. Anywhere you need or want to go, the
Wrangler will get you there. They are often used as camping and hunting vehicles because of
their amazing ability to not get stuck. It has one of the best 4 Wheel drive systems out there.
Wranglers can get you through the deepest mud and snow with no trouble at all. They are often
converted into rock climbers. Mustangs, however, are known for one thing: going fast and
looking good doing it. Mustangs are great for the city lifestyle. If you want to be perceived as
someone with wheelbarrow of money, this is the car for you. If you want to be perceived as
someone who lives in the fast lane, this is also the vehicle for you. As people that live in Idaho,
you and I know that winters and weather can be tough in Idaho and as a result of this you need a
car that can get you through anything and this is not that

Overachievers Personality
In today s society the world s population is widely diverse in the types of personalities that can be
found out in public. Walking down the streets faces pass by, and it s easy for one to guess what
kind of person they are just by looking at their looks. However, someone can have a completely
different personality than you think. It may be important to know what types of personalities one
personmay have so you can get to know what type of people you will be dealing with. You may
have to deal with people who tend to be overachievers, arrogant, bubbly, and laid back, but it is
better to know how to identify each personality type. Some people have a personality trait of
being an overachiever. There are many different types of overachievers, some are easy to handle
and others may be a challenge. Someone may feel the need to do better than everyone else and
someone else may be trying to achieve the most they possibly can just to please themselves. The
types of overachievers that are just trying to be better than everyone else may not have as many
friends, because most people don t like to feel like they always have to compete. They might try
to strike up a conversation and ask you questions about yourself, so they have a chance to talk
about themselves. According to Arkin, people who feel the need to overachieve tend to secretly
feel like they aren t good enough, because they are more focused on not failing rather than
achieving a good outcome (Arkin). The feeling of having

A Brief Biography of Mahatma Gandhi
Mohandas Mahatma Gandhi Mohandas Mahatma Gandhi was born in the western part of
British ruled India on October 2, 1869. When the British cracked down on Indian civil liberties
after World War I, Gandhi began to organize nonviolent protests. He enforced the ideas of
nonviolence, passive resistance, and civil disobedience by meeting with politicians, fasting, and
launching campaigns to protest in order to regain rightful ownership of Indian self government.
He was very successful in using passive resistance and teaching by example. By Gandhi doing
all of this, there was a positive outcome after all the hard work he and Indian people did. The
outcome was that Britain s Parliament passed on July 1947 the Indian Independence Act.
Mohandas was the youngest member out of his siblings. His father was a knowledgeable
administrator, and very skillful at intervening between British officials and the local civilians.
His mother was an [extremely sincere believer] of Vaishnavism, the worship of Vishnu, and she
devoted herself to fasting and prayer. She taught Mohandas values such as tolerance and ahimsa,
or non injury to living beings (Szczepanksi 1). In 1883, the Gandhi s arranged a marriage
between 13 year old Mohandas and a 14 year old girl named Kasturba Makhanji. Unfortunately,
the young couple s first child died in 1885, but they had four surviving sons by 1900 (Szczepanksi

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ha Long Bay
Ha Long Bay is located in the Gulf of Tulkin, Northern Vietnam. It is 165 km from the capital, Ha
Noi. It consists of over 16,000 limestone islands and islets which are uninhabited and untouched by
humans. Ha Long Bay is formed by Cat Ba island to the South, Ngoc Hung and Van Canh islands to
the East and the Vietnamese coastline to the North and West. Even though the bay stretches for
thousands of square kilometres, the UNESCOWorld Heritage sight is only 434 square kilometres.

The management takes into account the requirements of the World Heritage convention,
recommendations from the world heritage committee and other regulation put in place by the
Vietnamese government. Social and economical activities on Halong Bay are regulated and
effectively managed. The provincial government have made regulations that UNESCO manage
that help stop illegal activity from happening to the beautiful bay. These regulation include: mud
dredging, land filling, fisherman and housing. These regulations are a smart way of making sure
that the site is being treated properly. The government provides for education and promotion of
the area. Which is why that Ha Long Bay is a number one tourist attraction. Although the
government have lots of strategies to do with the protection of Ha Long bay, they do not have
any conservation ideas. Conservation is the planned protection and preservation of a certain
object. As Ha Long Bay is made mostly of limestone, the erosion of the rocks will happen a lot
faster and therefore will erode away into the sea or collapse in a only a short amount of time. One
managenent strategy is making the islands stronger by adding rocks that don t erode such as
granite to the base. Another is having a to pay a tax to set up a buisness that involves tourism.

Gram Stain Lab Report
Purpose: The purpose of a Gram Stain procedure is to distinguish bacteria into two fundamental
groups of cells. There are the Gram positive cells and the Gram negative cells. By staining the
cells either violet or red, we can see the two types and their arrangements on the smear. Theory
and Background: 1.After swabbing some microbes from my cheek, I spread the bacterial smear
on the slide. In order to make them stick to the slide, I hold it near a heat source so they can
attach. Then I flood crystal violet on the smear. The color of violet binds to the Gram positive cell
membranes and to the outer membrane of Gram negative. After waiting about a minute for the dye
to be stain both cells violet, iodine is added to form a strong bond... Show more content on

Some of them were in short chains. I also notices that the Gram negative cells, which were
stained red, are rod shaped. They were spread out across the slide and did not seem to cluster.
Conclusion: 1.After viewing the end result of the Gram Stain, I saw that the Gram positive
bacterial cells were stained violet, while the Gram negative cells were stained red. In the mixed
culture under the microscopes, I was able to notice that the Gram positive cells, Enterococcus
durans, were in clusters of short chains. The Gram negative, Proteus mirabilis, were in rod
shaped forms that were spread across the slide. These cells did not seem to cluster. 2.I came to
this conclusion of which cells were on my slide after I compared my microbes to the physical
and chemical characteristics of the microbes in the textbook. The Gram positive characteristics in
the Gram stain matched up with those of an Enterococcus durans cell. There were some
diplococcic or short chains across the smear. These cells also had the same circular shape. I figured
the Gram negative cells were Proteus mirabilis because of the rod shaped cells that were spread

lead to some confusion.
NCC Students who showed up to the informational meetings left shortly after being told that in
these meetings the public is not allowed to voice their opinions since it was not a public hearing.
There was however a testimony form that could be filled out telling the Transit how the changes
will affect you which was not advertised.
The informational meeting was set up so that there were four tables that people can sit at while
they wait for one of the board members or Morton to talk to them about the changes they wanted to
make to the bus schedules.
The board gave out printed Power Points at this meeting explaining every change they are trying to
make and a couple other important documents. There were three bus drivers there but none that are
going to be impacted heavily by the changes being made.
Morton is responsible for the transit company as a whole and she explained that the transit is
funded by the state and federal transit system. Morton talked to each person that stayed at the
informational meeting to explain the reason behind her plan.

How Did Muhammad Ali Influence The World
Introduction
I chose to do my history project on Muhammad Ali because he influenced and inspired people
worldwide through sport and politics. He was one of the world s most successful heavyweight
champions ever and he acted as one of the major figures in the American civil rights movement. He
is remembered today through his hard work in the ring and his political movement that would
forever change the rights of
black people in America.
Early Life
Muhammad Ali grew up in southern America where he experienced racial prejudice and
discrimination first hand. At the age of 12 Muhammad Ali discovered his talent for boxingand with

Throughout his career Muhammad Ali stood up for civil rights for black people in politics and
often made public speeches expressing his opinion. He supported and admired other activists such
as Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. One of his famous quotes was My enemy is the white

Viet Cong or Chinese or Japanese. You my opposer when I want freedom. You my opposer when
I want justice. You my opposer when I want equality. You won #39;t even stand up for me in
America for my religious beliefs and you want me to go somewhere and fight, but you won #39;t

students during his exile.

Biological Determinism Summary
In his introduction, Gould enlightens us on the views of Socrates. All people should be educated
and belong to one of three classes within society; rulers, auxiliaries and craftsmen. Socrates
believes firmly that if this organization is upheld then society will be stable. It was said by
Glaucon, that Socratesprophecies may be disseminated through the generations. This was in fact
the case due to his claims being advanced by the science of the times (Gould, 1996). This book
according to this introduction looks to discuss this science of biological determinism. Biological
determinism is an idea that sees all human behavior as innate. It postulates that we function as a
matter of our genetics, brain size and biology and not society or culture.

Essay about Narrative of Life of Frederick Douglass
Published in 1845, Narrative of life of Frederick Douglass an American slave written by himself
is still the most highly acclaimed American autobiography ever written. It was published seven
years after Douglass escaped from his life as a slave in Maryland. It describes his experience of
being slave and his psychological insights into the slave master relationship. The main focus is
on How he learn to read and write and the pain of slavery. The goal of this paper is to bring more

Analysis Douglass s Narrative displays how white slaveholders continue slavery by keeping
their slaves uninformed. At the time Douglass was writing, many people thought that slavery
was a normal state of being. They believed that blacks were naturally incapable of participating
in civil society and thus should be kept as labors for whites. The Narrative explains the tactics
and measures by which whites gain and keep power over blacks from their birth onward. Slave
owners keep slaves uninformed of basic facts about themselves, such as their birth date or their
parents. This enforced ignorance deprives children of their natural sense of distinct identity. As
slave children grow up, slave owners prevent them from learning to read and write, as learning
would give them a sense of self sufficiency and capability. Slave masters understand that
knowledge would lead slaves to question the right of whites to keep slaves. Lastly, by keeping
slaves illiterate, Southern slave masters maintain control over what the rest of America knows
about slavery. If slaves cannot write, their picture of the slavery story cannot be told. Wendell
Phillips states this point in his prefatory letter to the Narrative. Just as slave masters keep people
as slaves by depriving them of knowledge and education, slaves need to seek knowledge and
education in order to track freedom. It is from Hugh Auld that Douglass learns this idea that
knowledge should be the way to

  • 2. Essay about Article Rebuttal APA Format: Article Rebuttal Lori M. Slack BCOM/275 February 17, 2014 Rod Klein Article Rebuttal Marriage is not about a piece of paper, a ring, or sexual preference. It has never been about any of these matters, and should not be considered so. Marriage is the commitment between two people who love each other unconditionally. According to Psychology Today, marriage is the process by which two people who love each other make their relationship public, official, and permanent (Psychology Today, 2002) . Anyone can get married, but it takes dedication and work to make a marriage last and be successful. This paper will specifically discuss an article written by Jan LaRue, Why Homosexual Marriage Is Wrong and what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In saying this she is being selective to support her argument, and in doing so is being confirmation biased. Who is to say that homosexuality is more unholy, or wrong, than divorce, adultery, and lying? Logical Fallacies The fallacy that was used in this article is false attribution because of the biased attributes in the argument. For example, saying that marriage has to be limited to only a man and a woman is not discriminating, yet it clearly is because of the biased feelings of homosexual relationships. Another type of fallacy that was used is the fallacy of ambiguity; when an abstract belief is treated as if it were concrete evidence. Religion is not based on scientific concrete evidence, but merely a belief in something. The Bible has been written and rewritten by man, and has lack of evidence supporting that there is a God. Conclusion Many base their idea of right and wrong on biased conclusions and/or religion. This makes the issue hard to decipher between who is right and wrong. Biased conclusions do not make the idea correct. The idea that only a man and a woman can fall in love with each other, and not a man and a man or a woman and a woman, is based on favoritisms in how someone feels about the issue. Articles, such as the one above, have the intentions of sharing their beliefs in the hope of others adopting that particular belief. The question that should be presented is, ... His peers considered him a leader because he was Hitler s right hand man when it came to tactical plans and military strategies. Jonas, so dedicated to the cause, would kill himself in the end after learning of his commander s own suicide. The story of his life is one of dedication and passion for a political party that was taking over Europe by brute force. However, since Jonas became a household name for his participation in the war, he was quickly able to find work as a policeman. Scientists use drills to get as close as they can to get to the center of the earth, they also looked at rocks that spat out of volcanos during a volcanic explosion. The second way is, because of seismic waves. They study how seismic waves travel through Earth, seismic waves are vibrations that travel through Earth carrying energy, released during an earthquake. No more are the days of the Big Three and their dominance of the market without foreign influence and challenge. The US auto industry is alive and thriving with an abundance of oversea firms and production that has captivated and elevated the consumer auto market domestically and will continue to do so for the foreseen future. (3.3) Market Structure The current structure of the US auto industry is a who s who of Fortune 500 companies, with long track records of success, and gold mines of innovation. The current market structure in place has many of the same foundations as the industry of the pre World War II era, with some important foreign additions from Japan and other countries ( Markets Data Center , 2011). In 2010, over 28 automobile firms registered sales within the United States. The total number of foreign firms doing business in the US was 25. • 32. The Miners Strike 1984 Essay Throughout the century British coal had become increasingly costly and difficult to mine. Nationalization in 1948 had not altered this. Indeed, there was a case for saying that lack of government investment since that date had added to the problem. For some time Britain had been importing coal from abroad. With the exception of few pits producing particular types of coal, British mines by the 1970s were running at loss. When Margaret Thatcher became Prime Minister the first thing she wanted to do was limit union power. She felt that union power applied to nationalized industrial monopolies resulted in poor service at exorbitant cost to the taxpayers. She pointed to inefficient work practices, over employment and restrictive employment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thatcher reduced trade union power. She was helped also by rapidly rising unemployment which acted as a major disincentive to many going on strike or pressing to hard for higher wages. The trigger for Britain s most bitter industrial dispute of recent times was the announcement that one Yorkshire pit, Cortonwood near Barnsley, was to close, all over Yorkshire walked out, not realising that it would be a year before they returned. Whereas previous coal strikes had been over in a matter of weeks, this time both union and government dug in for a lengthy battle. In the end, the biggest losers were ordinary miners. However there was a strong counter argument advanced by the miners union and the other analysts. They suggested that with a proper investment programme backed by a genuine government commitment to coal as a long term power source, large parts of the British coal industry still had a profitable future. The social consequences of widespread pit closures would be catastrophic. The impact of the strike was much wider than just in the mining industry and the regions: the scenes of violence between strikes and police regularly seen on television shocked the nation and divided public opinion. Polls suggested that 65% of the people supported the government and the police 35% of the miners. social commentators suggested that the violent clashes that frequently accompanied the strike stimulated a general strike ... NCC Students who showed up to the informational meetings left shortly after being told that in these meetings the public is not allowed to voice their opinions since it was not a public hearing. There was however a testimony form that could be filled out telling the Transit how the changes will affect you which was not advertised. The board gave out printed Power Points at this meeting explaining every change they are trying to make and a couple other important documents. There were three bus drivers there but none that are going to be impacted heavily by the changes being made. Analysis Douglass s Narrative displays how white slaveholders continue slavery by keeping their slaves uninformed. At the time Douglass was writing, many people thought that slavery was a normal state of being. They believed that blacks were naturally incapable of participating in civil society and thus should be kept as labors for whites. The Narrative explains the tactics and measures by which whites gain and keep power over blacks from their birth onward. Slave owners keep slaves uninformed of basic facts about themselves, such as their birth date or their parents. This enforced ignorance deprives children of their natural sense of distinct identity. As slave children grow up, slave owners prevent them from learning to read and write, as learning would give them a sense of self sufficiency and capability. Slave masters understand that knowledge would lead slaves to question the right of whites to keep slaves. Lastly, by keeping slaves illiterate, Southern slave masters maintain control over what the rest of America knows about slavery. If slaves cannot write, their picture of the slavery story cannot be told. Wendell Phillips states this point in his prefatory letter to the Narrative. Just as slave masters keep people as slaves by depriving them of knowledge and education, slaves need to seek knowledge and education in order to track freedom. It is from Hugh Auld that Douglass learns this idea that knowledge should be the way to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
