Importance Of Credible Sources
A source is the place or resource in which knowledge has been obtained. When looking for
sources to use in a research paper you need to be able to determine whether or not a source is
reliable and credible. It is important to use reliable and credible sources so that the information
you use in a document you are writing is accurate and will not affect you in a negative way, by
either getting a bad grade in school or just looking unintelligent to a colleague.
A credible source is a source of good quality that a reader can trust to be truthful and believable,
otherwise known as convincing or plausible. It is important to use credible sources to prove points
because it enhances your own credibility as a writer by contributing to the effect of ... Show more

When using ethos you create a sense of authority to the reader that what you are saying is
reliable. For example, in commercials athletes advertise athletic products, while models
advertise beauty products. This shows a reader that professional people in a certain field backup
a product in a positive way. Ethos is also used when someone uses actions that a person has
completed in the past, to help persuade people that they have experience and are reliable. When
using logos you can cite statistics, analogies, and historical context about a topic to show you
are a credible source and that the information you are using can be proven with evidence. It
enhances a rational and fact based reasoning on a topic. If you use pathos and appeal to the more
emotional side of a topic, a reader could immediately identify your source as bias, as it uses a
human s sense of emotion to get someone to agree with a topic.
A credible and reliable source can be determined through characteristics in spelling/grammar,
citations and examples used within a document, and the author. Once a reliable and credible
source has been identified you can use it in any research paper that will help improve your skills
as a writer, and make your writing as reliable as the sources that allowed you to write it. When
creating a reliable and credible source use ethos and logos to help support your claim, to enhance
your authority and provide logical

There are two main forms of diabetes: type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes is a genetically
autoimmune disease when the body produces an immune response against its own cells, and
destroys the insulin producing beta cells in the pancreas. As a result, the pancreas cannot produce
enough insulin or totally stop producing insulin at a young age. The far more common diabetes is
type 2 diabetes, which are around 90% of all people with diabetes (World Health Organization,
1999) and is caused by a combination of lifestyle and genetic factors. People with type 2 diabetes
may still produce their own insulin, but the body cannot use them sufficiently, thus the blood
glucose could not be balanced and cause long term health complications due to the persistent high
blood glucose levels. Such as damage to the kidneys, neurological system, cardiovascular system,
retina and feet and legs through effects on both large and small blood vessels (Stratton et al.,

Cultural Differences In The Krasniqi Family
There were many cultural diffrences within this case that had a significant impact on the
outcome of the family. One cultural difference that had a significant role in this case would be
the language barrier. Mr. and Mrs. Krasniqi Sam and Kathy are both from Kosovo wich is a
region in Albania. Mr. Krasniqi moved to Chicago in 1963 when he was 30 years old. In 1979
Mr. Krasniqi went back to Albania to marry his wife Kathy. They both later moved that year back

Modern Day White House
(4) Surviving many years, The White House has been with us for a very long time. It has endured
many decades from the late 1700s to the present. This monumental building, centered in America,
has withstood many trials, including being set to flame. (2) Since the area around The White House
is a lovely green, it really complements the white, limestone coating that covers the exterior of the
building. (5) Although there are many topics of which are important, there are three topics that are
essential to knowing the history of this American icon: the building of the mansion, the modern day
White House, and its legacy. The building of this executive mansion was decided by a composition

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Summary
I chose to summarize this review article to understand the reasons behind exercising a patient
with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Prior to the reading, my knowledge of stress echos
only covered the bases of diagnosing coronary artery disease. This review focuses on the patients
subjective complaints and its correlation with sudden death from HCM. It s common for us to see
patient with HCM and to preform valsalva maneuvers to check for LVOT obstruction with
increased velocities. However, a new understanding leads me to believe that preforming a valsalva
maneuver at rest may not always cause an obstruction of the LVOT. In this review study, to get a
better understanding of patients with HCM, they now stress the patients to evaluate LVOT

Comparing The World Is Too Much With Us And God s Grandeur
God s Grandeur by Gerard Manley Hopkins and The World Is Too Much With Us by William
Wordsworth concur on the concept of nature versus the way society tends to treat it; however, they
express it in different ways through tone and figurative language, such as metaphors and allusions.
Gerard Manley Hopkins seems to have an abstract outlook on the concept of nature, taking it as a
whole into great consideration and includes his personal religious beliefs within God s Grandeur
such as how the holy ghost is watching over nature as it persists, which brings a positive side to
the depressing reality (13 14). God s Grandeur uses many types of figurative language and poetic
elements; however, the many metaphors and similes stand out the most for being the majority of
the poem as well as conveying the horrors of humanity to his audience. Hopkins writes, It will
flame out, like shining from shook ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The simile is based on foil, the thin sheet of metal, and compares it to the flame of humanity;
essentially, once the light is gone, it s the end and time is either wasted or not, which Hopkins
relates to shaking a piece of tinfoil and watching the light quickly disappear. Surprisingly, this is
one of Hopkins less puzzling similes, which is shocking due to the fact that it seems to almost be
a riddle. Aside from metaphors and similes, one of the strongest points for works of Gerard Manley
Hopkins is the imagery, in which we see very dark flickers of what mankind has substantially
come to. An example of dark imagery would be Generations have trod, have trod, have trod...
(Hopkins 5). Repetition is also noticeable and significant in this line because it gives the

Battle Of Stalingrad Research Paper
World War II was notably a violent war that many large powers of the world were involved with
from 1939 1945. It started when Germany invaded Poland, and led to France and Britain
declaring war on Hitler s nazi state. One of the largest and bloodiest battles in warfare history(1),
The Battle of Stalingrad, is said to take place during this war. America initially did not want to
become involved with the war but was faced with no decision when they were attacked in Hawaii
by Japanese forces on December 7th, 1941.

bloodiest battle known to our wartime history. The fighting occurred between Nazi Germany,

Theme Of Superstition In Huckleberry Finn
The use of superstition in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain makes the novel
more interesting. It adds character depth, gives reasons for the actions of the characters, and drives
the plot. It also makes the story a bit more humorous for the reader. Superstition, both good and
bad, is a large part of this novel. This is true especially when it comes to the characters, and the way
they interact with their surroundings and each other.
The main character of the novel is Huckleberry Finn. His superstition is shown early on in the
novel starting in chapter one, page three, paragraph three, line nineteen, when he talks about
brushing a spider off of his shoulder into a candle. He says this is bad luck and immediately turns
around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also in chapter three, page fourteen, paragraph one, line one, Tom tells Huck about genies, and
how to summon one, but Huck can t make a genie appear and comes to the conclusion it s
another one of Tom s tall tales. Another one of Huck s influencers is his father. His father, Pap
Finn has two nails formed into a cross of his left boot heel, which he believes will keep away the
devil (chapter four, page sixteen, paragraph one, line ten). But Pap and Tom aren t his only
influences.
His beliefs could also come from his friend Jim, a slave who works for his guardians, Widow
Douglas and Miss Watson. He is an extremely superstitious character, and it makes him very
different from the rest. Jim s superstition is introduced in chapter two, page six, paragraph one,
line six, when he says his hat had moved to a tree limb above him while he was sleeping because
of witches bewitching him and taking him around the state, when it was really just Tom Sawyer
messing with him. These stories make him well known. Huck looks up to Jim, and comes to
him for answers. Huck asked Jim for answers from his hair ball oracle about his father. Jim tells
him he has to pay, and after he does, Jim says that the hair ball told him that his father was
coming, but Huck was going to be okay (chapter four, page seventeen, paragraph one, line three).
Jim believes that hairy chest and arms means one day he will be rich, which proves to be true by

Similarities Between The Book And The Movie The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby Romance, love, and destiny. Connections are formed like bridges built of
various things; love, trust, money, fate. Some bridges are stronger than others and some bridges
connect people who perhaps shouldn t be connected. The movie The Great Gatsby better
expresses the romantic relationships and connections between characters. Between Tom and
Daisy, whose relationship may have more to do with survival than love, with Myrtle and Tom,
the bridge between them connecting two souls searching for something more in life. And then
there are bridges like the one between Jordan and Nick, filled with lies and a bridge not often
travelled, and if you re lucky you come across a bridge like Gatsby and Daisy s, which is made
of love but filled with obstacles. These bridges play a key part in the story and the movie most
definitely does a better job at expressing these connections between characters. Tom and Daisy
have a very complicated relationship and the movie better demonstrates their complex relationship
than the book. The film shows all the small gestures they share, and the novel gives the
impression Daisy somewhat resented Tom after Gatsby s death, and the movie also humanizes
Tom on a higher level than the book. In the film when Daisy told Tom she had never loved him
while they were in town she immediately after addresses Gatsby with a cold reply detaching
herself from the situation and seems angry at Gatsby making her tell Tom she didn t love him (The

The Role Of Logistics Air Force ( Usaf ) Operations And By...
I. INTRODUCTION
Background The role of logistics in United States Air Force (USAF) operations and by extension
United States military operations cannot be underestimated nor undervalued. People of both
professional and academic backgrounds have spent considerable time studying and capturing the
relevant points of its application. While critical to almost all military units and corporations alike,
logistics in definition and application is not easily defined. It is an over arching word covering
many disparate topics such as supply, sustainment, production, transportation, warehousing,
maintenance, planning, and others.
The USAF implements logistics at the tactical, operational and strategic levels with the Air Force
Materiel Command (AFMC) being its largest logistics focused organization. AFMC is home to
strategic organizations such as the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) and the Air Force Life
Cycle Management Center. Organizations such as the 635th Supply Chain Operations Wing
(SCOW), logistics readiness squadrons and aerial port squadrons implement logistics at the USAF
operational and tactical level. AFMC and the agencies it commands are the USAF s primary
interfaces for both internal and external logistics support; it interfaces with suppliers such as the
Defense Logistics Agency and General Services Administration and vendors like Boeing, Lockheed
Martin, and Kovach Mobile Equipment.
The USAF employs a significant number of Airmen, civilian, and

Recreation Management And Therapeutic Recreation
Every year new students entering into the School of Health and Human Performance in the
programs of Recreation Management and Therapeutic Recreation take part in a two day orientation.
This orientation helps students gain a better understanding of recreation, learn about their programs,
and create bonds with fellow classmates. Throughout the weekend this year, students were able to
create memories with classmates whom they will be studying alongside over the course of their
education. The orientation weekend served many different purposes for the students in both
Recreation Management and Therapeutic Recreation. The first purpose of the retreat was to help
students gain a better understandingof recreation. Many people, including myself before this
orientation, believe that recreation is solely sports. However, that fact is far from true as recreation
encompasses many different aspects such as art, music, photography, knitting, and running. Once
students understood the different aspects of recreation they were able to learn more about their
programs. This was done through having older students interact with new students, and by having
professionals speak to the new students. The professionals were in both the Recreation
Management and Therapeutic Recreation fields. Since my programof study is Recreation
Management, I got to hear all about that field. In the speeches I learned how to get involved in
recreation early on, how important managing recreation is, and about the

Example Of Psychological Egoism
Win Ma
PH 211: Ethics
Rejecting Psychological Egoism
Morality tells us what actions we should and should not do. We can only prescribe what to do or
not do for actions possible for humans. Therefore, we need to answer what human nature is like.
Our nature will provide us the motivation for our actions. One answer is psychological egoism,
which says the motivation of all human actions is self interest. It stands implicitly in opposition to
the principle of altruism: human actions can be done for the sake of others. This is because if
psychological egoism is true, altruistic acts are egoistic acts. I believe psychological egoism is not
a well supported position. To prove this, I will show how three psychological egoism supporting
arguments are unsound. I will also propose an alternative description of human nature: Humans do
not always act in self interest. Rather, they sometimes act in self interest and sometimes act for the
sake of others. The first pro psychological egoism argument I will consider is Shafer Landau s
Argument From Strongest Desires. (Shafer Landau, 94)
1.Whenever you do something, you are motivated by your strongest desire
2.Whenever you are motivated by your strongest desire, you are pursuing self interest
3.Therefore, whenever you do something, you are pursuing your self interest
The argument s problem is the 2nd ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we insert misery, then we are looking at the principle in the context of the Argument From
Avoiding Misery. Psychological egoists do not specify misery has to be a certain way, but Landau
s principle lends itself to that interpretation because of how it is contained in particular actions.
Misery being described by bee stings means misery is avoiding physical pain. Not true, we can
describe misery with mental suffering from war trauma. Landau therefore commits a straw man. In
addition he commits hasty generalization, since he goes from particular to

Nitration of Methyl Benzoate
NITRATION
OF
METHYL
BENZOATE

 Purpose:
The main objective
of this experiment was to synthesize methyl nitrobenzoate from methyl benzoate, using the mixture
of nitric and sulfuric acid by performing the process of electrophillic aromatic substitution. During
this reaction, the combination of HNO3 and H2SO4 made a nitrating solution. The crystallization
was done to accomplish pure product. The melting point and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC)
were performed to test the purity of the product. Using the methyl benzoate reaction product,
methyl nitrobenzoate, one can determine the meta substituted, para substituted and orthosubstituted
of the final products. Furthermore, HNMR and IR used to investigate the quality of the product....

This would indicate that during the recrystallization there was a reduction in the percentage yield
of the production. The obtained final product melting point rang was 76.2 780C. This would
show that the experimental melting point was very close to the literature value of 78 80В°C
which denotes the meta substituted of the product. So, the analysis of the melting point confirmed
that the product was methyl meta nitrobenzoate as it was anticipated. Additionally, use of the
melting point analysis shows that NO2 group could be added to the methyl benzoate at the meta
position successfully. The ortho and para products could have been also analyzed during the
experiment; however, they were not chosen for the product (methyl benzoate) because they have
unstable resonance forms that have positive charges near one another. The two positive charges
that are next to one another can make the product to be unstable and as result ortho and para
substituted products are not favorable in this electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction. Also,
an IR of the product confirmed that methyl m nitrobenzoate as a favorable. A peak located at

A Comparison Of The Movie Don Giovanni
The play Don Giovanni directed by Peter Sellers shares many parallels to Moliere s comedy Don
Juan. Additionally, Don Juan is an aristocratic rebel against God, religion, and morality. Don Juan
is a masterful manipulator of men and women. Although Don Juan is a comedy, it is grounded in
realistic dramatic also relational scenarios that happen today. However, in the play Don Giovanni,
the character is darker and more sinister. Moreover, the setting is far from the aristocracy. The

Rhetorical Devices In Richard Matheson s I Am Legend
Richard Matheson s, I Am Legend, focuses on a dark, haunting dystopian society highlighted
using an array of rhetorical devices to create suspenseful and thrilling action The rhetorical
devices in the first third of the passage are used to paint a picture of the man persuading Robert
to follow him and be saved. The mysterious man is portrayed as being unappealing and
threatening. For example, the use of sonic imagery to describe the man s voice as having a
grating rasp allows readers to visualize this unhealthy figure as disturbing. The simile
comparing the man s throat moving like a clammy turkey skin shows a resemblance between his
neck to that of a saggy turkey, making us believe the man is either old, is severely ill and
malnourished, or both. He has red splotched cheeks, feverish eyes , and a black suit that is
unpressed and unclean . The use of this visual imagery allows us to vividly see how the man is
wholly unfit and disheveled. This is also asyndeton and is used to speed up the rhythm, creating
more suspenseful action. The man grabs Robert and his fingers are compared to that of a skeleton to

Essay on Dobbie the Duck
On a farm near the state of Oklahoma, there lived a little duck named Dobbles. Dobbles was the
most energetic, loud, and crazy duck on the farm. The pond near the farm was his favorite place
to play. He and his friends were always having fun and causing mischief at the pond. It was the
perfect place to cool off during the summer. One day when Dobbles went to the pond, none of
his friends were there. They met at that pond at the same time everyday, so he was very worried.
Dobbles looked everywhere for them. He looked behind their favorite log, near the tallest tree, in
the water, and in the grass, but he couldn t find them anywhere. He kept shouting, Daffy, Donald,
Daisy! Is anyone out there? There was no reply, and Dobbles became very... Show more content on

I don t know what you are talking about. Mother Hen found an even bigger pond up north. It has

instead of this pond. I had to talk to Mother Hen, so I told Donald to tell you. That s weird.
Donald never told me anything. That is really weird. He usually never forgets these things. Let s
go to the pond to ask him. Also, we need to let everyone know you re safe. They went to the
other pond, told everyone the news, and tried to find Donald. Donald was by a big tree playing

Dobbles! Where were you? We were looking for you, but you never showed up, said Donald.
Dobbles said that you never told him about the pond, said Daisy. I was busy cleaning the barn
last night, so I told Daffy to tell you, replied Donald. Dobbles, Daisy, and Donald knew that
Daffy was sometimes irresponsible, so they decided to go talk to him and figure out what
happened. Hey Daffy, did you remember to tell Dobbles about coming to the pond today? asked
Donald. I was trying to find something to eat with Dewey last night, so I asked Huey to tell him,

Analysis Of The Film Ai Weiwei Never Sorry
The film Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry (2012) is a documentary directed by Alison Klayman. It follows
contemporary Chinese artist and activist, Ai Weiwei, documenting how he stood up against the
Chinese government and revealed the horrific actions the government commits. Ai Weiwei differs
from other critics of the Chinese government because he uses aggressive words, while his fellow
critics do not insult the government or the Communist Party. He uses several mediums to show
how the government has acted including his blog and documentaries, showing what Chinese
citizens go through on a daily basis.. Weiwei is incredibly brave for putting his life on the line to
fight for a better country and a better world.
Ai WeiWeistudied at the Beijing Film Academy. He was also part of the first generation to study
abroad as part of China s Reform and Opening Up Policy. He came to New York in 1983 and
photographed protests so he could be apart of democracy. In 1993, his dad was sick so he returned
to China. Once there, Ai Weiwei went to antique stores so he could see and feel the past. Once
back in China, he decided that he was going to protest because he knew what freedom and
democracy was like and never wants to go back. This inspired him to beginning protesting and
hoping he can help make China a better place.
When he returned from New York, Weiwei noticed that the government was beginning to shut down
artistic expression. In response, he and other artists created an underground gallery where

`` The Lesson `` By Tony Cade Bambara
If all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do it too? Throughout the ages, how many
times have parents bellowed these words? Although the question is dreadfully annoying to most
children, it is designed to make them think about their individuality and the dangers of
conforming. Today, more than ever, with the use of social media, our society is under pressure
to conform. With the creation of Facebook and Twitter, our goals are to be friended, liked,
followed, and accepted. Is our nation in danger of becoming lemmings? According to an entry in
Urban Dictionary written by Aegis Kleais, a lemming is [a] derogatory term used to reference a
person who seemingly does not possess any form of individual thought and instead mindlessly
follows the behaviors and actions of the masses. Fortunately, short stories such as Tony Cade
Bambara s The Lesson (1972) and Langston Hughes Salvation (1940) remind us of both the
positive and negative effects of how an individual deals with group conformityand social pressure.
The Lesson is a story of a close knit group of children from impoverished Harlem, New York who
are taken on a field trip to learn about economic inequality. In Salvation, Hughes recalls his
experience of religion as a young child, particularly an intense religious revival. Through the use of
setting, characterization, and irony, both authors show the importance of standing up for one s self
regardless of social pressure. In each

Quality and Safety. Two sides of the same medal?
Quality and Safety are two commonly used terms generally in various industries and particularly the
aviation industry. For a comprehensive comparison between Quality and Safety, the first step would

Quality is defined as:
The standard of something as measured against other things of similar kinds
The degree of excellence of something
General excellence of standard or level
Safety is defined as:
The quality of averting or not causing injury, danger, or loss

Safety Management Systems SMS
Safety Management System (SMS) is a term used to refer to a comprehensive business management
system designed to manage occupational safety and health elements in the workplace.[2]
A Safety Management System provides a systematic way to identify hazards and control risks
while maintaining assurance that these risk controls are effective.[3] SMS can be defined as:
a businesslike approach to safety. It is a systematic, explicit and comprehensive process for
managing safety risks. As with all management systems, a safety management system provides for
goal setting, planning, and measuring performance. A safety management system is woven into the
fabric of an organization. It becomes part of the culture, the way people do their jobs .[4]
There are three imperatives for adopting a safety management system for a business these are
ethical, legal and financial. There is an implied moral obligation placed on an employer to ensure
that work activities and the place of work to be safe, there are legislative requirements defined in
just about every jurisdiction on how this is to be achieved and there is a substantial

Edgar Allan Poe Mood
Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe, famous for his interesting and intriguing works, was born on January 19, 1809.
As a child, his parents divorced and his mother took his siblings and him with her. Sadly, after
the divorce, his mother passed away from Tuberculosis, and Poe s family was divided up again.
His siblings went to live with different people and Poe was taken in by the Allan couple. He was
given a good education but his new stepfather did not like him. Edgar Allan Poe joined the army at
eighteen years old and is loving stepmother, Mrs. Allan, passed away, also from Tuberculosis.

It is a negative mood, and typically a tense one. In the short story, the Masque of the Red death ,
this of course, is another reading including death. For example, the story says, THE Red Death
had long devastated the country. Once again, talking about death and devastation brings about
negative feelings and a depressing fell. The end of the story reads, a sad, negative atmosphere.
In the story, The Fall of the House of Usher , Mr. Usher s wife was supposed to be dead, but later
in the story she was thought not to be and Mr. Usher started panicking because he realized that
she was not dead. That was when Madeline Usher burst through the door and scared Mr.
Roderick Usher so bad that he died. The story says, For a moment she remained trembling and
reeling to and fro upon the threshold, then, with a low moaning cry, fell heavily inward upon the
person of her brother, and in her violent and now final death agonies, bore him to the floor a
corpse, and a victim to the terrors he had anticipated. This is telling how Roderick Usher died in
the end. After reading this, the reader feels nervous and anxious because death is not a subject
that usually makes people comfortable. The story, a bit longer than some of Poe s other works,
The Pit and the Pendulum is about a person in jail. It is not a common jail as some might think.
This prison was made to torture people and give them pain. During this story, the reader was tied
up and a pendulum with a blade started to swing back and forth and began to come closer and
closer to the person. At the last minute, he was able to become free, thanks to a couple rats.
Apparently he was being watched because shortly after he escaped the almost certain death, the
cell started to get hot and the walls around him began to close, pushing him closer and closer to a
large pit. At the last minute, he was rescued but death was almost certain in the story until he was
saved. The reading says,

a natural science subject to empirical study. His book suicide was one of the most prominent
books in the field of sociology. In this book he speaks about how the suiciderate differs among the
Protestants and Catholics saying that there is less number of suicides among the Catholics as they
have stronger social control. According to Durkheim, Catholics are more open to the idea of
accepting new member in the society as compare to the Protestants. There were two criticisms for
this interpretation. Firstly, the data that he collected were from early researchers and secondly this
was only limited to the German speaking Europe. But despite its limitations his theory was one of

They feel isolated from the society and this pushes them to kill themselves. Despite being it an
individual act its root is society. Hence, it is a social phenomenon. This is borne out of the fact
that those who kill themselves are old people. Old age can bring both suicide and depression.
Studies have shown that older people show less social interaction and more depression. For
older people, their social circle has become lesser and sometimes they do not have anyone to talk
to for one whole day. This can lead to depression as man is a social animal and he need the
companionship of others for survival. The fact that they have to go out sometimes like to churches

leads to suicide among the elders. The fact that an individual feels alone in the society may lead to

The rhythm in Funeral Blues is a very slow one which emphasises the sadness of the poet
whereas in the poem My parents kept me from children who were rough there is a medium pace
rhythm which accelerates gradually during the poem and then slows down at the end to a slow
pace. Both My parents kept me from children who were rough and Funeral Blues have four lines
in every verse but the amount of verses in each poem differ since the poem My parents kept me
from children who were rough has only three verses whereas Funeral Blues has four. In the
poem My parents kept me from children who were rough all three of the verses are set in the
past tense whereas in Funeral Blues three of the verses are talking about the present and only
one is talking about the past. The verse, which is referring to something in the past, is the one
that talks about the man who died. In the poem My parents kept me from children who were

Understand The Difference Between Engine And A 6 Cylinder...
Choosing Between A 4 Cylinder And A 6 Cylinder Engine
When purchasing a vehicle, new or used the type of engine is just as important as any other feature.
Understanding the difference between the different engine types and sizes will help you to make an
informed decision when choosing a vehicle.
What Is The Difference?
A 4 cylinder engine contains 4 pistons while a 6 cylinder contains 6, driving the power of your
engine. So the easy answer would be more cylinders equals more power. Most small cars, light
trucks, and even some small SUV s contain 4 cylinder engines. 4 cylinder engines are typically
inline engines (the 4 cylinders are in a straight line as opposed to a v shape like most 6 cylinder
engines), making them smaller and lighter weight.

Raymund Maximilian Kolbe Thesis
What is a saint? A saint is a person of great holiness, who has performed miracles for God s
cause. What is a martyr? A martyr is someone who dies for what they believe in, just like
Maximilian Kolbe. Raymund Maximilian Kolbe was born January 8, 1894. He was born in
Zdunska Wola, in Poland. Both parents, Marianna and Juliusz, were very holy, and dedicated
much of their time and money to teach their children about the catholic faith. (Gale BIC, 2)
They were both poor weavers, who traded with Jewish merchants. From a young age,
Maximilian was very fond of his faith. He enjoyed church, and loved to pray. In 1907, Max and
his brothers decided to move to an all boys Franciscan school. Their mother was supportive of
this decision, because she wanted to shield the boys from the other sex. When he turned sixteen

What Were The Causes Of The American Revolutions
A revolution, as defined in the Merriam Webster dictionary, is the violent attempt by many people
to end the rule of one government to start a new one. In 1640, the long parliament was found and
was followed by the short parliament which followed a 11 year absence. Two revolutions in 1642
1660 and 1688 1689, overturned two kings and confirmed the constitutional powers of an elected
parliament, laying the foundation for the idea that government must guarantee certain rights to the
people under the law. The first was the English revolution which was introduced by Marxist
historians, where parliament challenged King Charles I s authority. Although, Parliament interfered
in civil conflict against his forces, King Charles I was executed in 1649. The second was the
Glorious revolutionwhich supporters of the parliament announced because it was achieved with
little bloodshed. In this revolution, King James II of Englandwas removed from power by a group

The Impact Of Divorce On The Family
The words from the Bible, therefore, what God has joined together, let no man separate have been
habitually used during weddings throughout history. Stepping into the 21st century, those words
have not been faithfully lived up to, evident through the numerous counts of divorces in society.
Divorce can be defined as the legal dissolution of a marriageby a court order and in this generation,
is seen as the norm. Apart from race, other major predictors of divorce include age at marriage,
education, premarital births and religion. (Bartolic, Martin, White, 2013). Divorce often tends to
be thought of in a monolithic way, as if everyone who gets a divorce goes through the same
process. The impact of divorce on the well being of children have been notoriously viewed with a
negative lens for many years due to possible risk factors that may affect children and their
upbringing as they navigate through life as their parents separate. However, families have the
ability to strengthen and bounce back even stronger with more knowledge through these
experiences. This paper thoroughly discusses the impacts of divorce and its effects on family
structure and the ways in which families can collectively work together to overcome crises and be
resilient. This includes the many protective factors that help families overcome their challenges and
adversities such as positive social interactions, personal protective factors, and belief systems in
which all of these aspects encompass effective

Dostoevsky was an Anti-Semite
Dostoevsky was an Anti Semite
Literary anti Semitism is as old as Western culture itself. A full listing of writers who have

harbor such ill will towards the Jews. Does this not discredit everything he has written? This paper

In addition to writing Notes from the Underground, and The House of the Dead, Dostoevsky
completes Crime and Punishment, The Idiot and in 1871, he finishes The Devils. In addition, this
decade is marked by personal tragedy, gambling, and debts. Beginning in 1862, Dostoevsky makes
the first of several sojourns to Europe and his prolonged stay (from 1867 1871), no doubt,
significantly influences his belief in the Great Russian Messianism.8
The Russian Messianic idea found its most virulent expression in The Devils, where, in a

Alexander Hamilton Contributions
The final years of his life were riddled with tragedy and pain, his death becoming the most famous
duel in American history. Born between 1755 and 1757 and orphaned at a young age, Alexander
Hamilton climbed the social ranks from a poor immigrant born in the small Caribbean island of
Nevis, to one of the most prominent founding fathers of America. Through several scandals and the
harsh criticisms of his enemies, Hamilton made incredibly important contributions to American
history. He was instrumental in the ratification of the United States Constitution, the establishment
of a national bank, and the formation of a two party system (Federalists and Democratic
Republicans), and was also the first Secretary of Treasury in American history.
One of Hamilton s first friends and mortal enemy, Aaron Burrwas nearly the complete opposite of

Hamilton, he graduated from the College of New Jersey (now known as Princeton) when he was

What Role Did Futball Play In History
Futball, which is commonly called and known as soccer, is a sport that is played between two

Cloud Storage For The Field Of Pre Construction
Cloud Storage
Cloud storage is one of the important application of mobile technology. Cloud storage can be
described as a service, which allows you to manage and maintain the data remotely. Cloud storage
allows you to save your files online, so that you can access it from anywhere in the world with the
help of internet. Additionally, cloud storage syncs the data making sure that all the devices contain
the same data. Any project manager knows how difficult it is to have access to current
information and many conflicts can be avoided if the same information is available to all the
parties in the project. Another important use of cloud storage is in the field of Pre Construction.
For example, Cloud Takeoff is an application which allows the estimators to perform digital
takeoffs on any platforms, from windows or Mac or IOS or Android. Since these takeoffs are
present in cloud, users can collaborate on the documents using different devices. Cloud Takeoff
can do tasks which can previously be performed on programs like Onscreen takeoff. Cloud
takeoff helps in preparing more accurate bids than the bids produced by PC based software by
increasing collaboration between the parties involved. There are many applications available which
provides cloud storage. Some of the examples are Dropbox, Box.net.

Gandhi s Early Self Identification
Early days
Mahatma Gandhi was the primary leader of India s independence movement and also the architect
of a form of non violent civil disobedience that would influence the world.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Gandhi, was born to Putlibai on October 2nd,
1869 in Porabandar,India. His father, Karamchand Uttamchand Gandhi served as the Diwan chief
minister of Porbandar state.
The Indian classics, especially the stories of and king Harishchandra, had a great impact on
Gandhi in his childhood. Gandhi s early self identification with truth and love as supreme values is
traceable to these epic characters. On 21 January 1879, Mohandas entered the local district school
in Rajkot, not far from his home. At school, he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mavji Dave, a brahmin priest and family friend, advised Gandhi that he should qualify as a
barrister in London, after which he would be certain to achieve the diwanship. Initially, Putlibai
did not want her youngest son to leave India and travel across the ocean, thereby losing his caste
according to believes at that time. But somehow Gandhi convinced and got the permission to
leave. On 10 August 1888, Gandhi left Porbandar for Bombay (Mumbai). Upon arrival in the port,
he was met by the head of the Modh Bania community, who had known Gandhi s family for a
while. Having learned of Gandhi s plans, he and other elders warned Gandhi that he would be
excommunicated if he did not remain in India. Gandhi did not change his intentions to leave for
England, therefore being daclared and outcast. While in London his mother died, but his family
kept the news from him.
South Africa
Gandhi was 24 when he arrived in South Africa in 1893 to work as a legal representative for the
Muslim Indian Traders based in the city of Pretoria. He spent 21 years in South Africa, where he
developed his political views, ethics and political leadership skills. Indians in South Africa
included wealthy Muslims, who employed Gandhi as a lawyer, and impoverished Hindu
indentured labourers with very limited rights. He believed that he understood India better by
getting to know and leading Indians in South Africa. He faced several challenges in South Africa.
He majorly faced the

Unforgettable Miss Bessie Analysis
1. Early in the essay, Carl T. Rowan describes Miss Bessie as five feet tall and no more than 110
pounds. While explaining how she doesn t seem physically threatening, Rowan notes she had a
towering presence in the classroom. She was the only woman tough enough to make me read
Beowulf (411). Rowan s resistance towards reading Beowulf led to him learning about Miss
Bessie s large brown eyes, that resembled daggerish slits (411). Rowan describes his former
teacher in a way that resembles someone who is looking up to an authoritative figure. Whenever
he comments on her appearance or personality, it he does in a very respectful context. Just by the
way Rowan often talks about Miss Bessie, it s obvious the amount of respect and admiration he has

In the essay Unforgettable Miss Bessie, the author Carl. T. Rowan doesn t share the details about
Miss Bessie s background until the ninth paragraph of his writing. I believe he did this so that
while he described what she was like as an individual, you could paint your own picture of her
before you found out what made her that way. When taking into consideration her role in society
as a teacher, it was fascinating to hear that she attended a school that was originally for black
people. During the time period in which Miss Bessie was getting her education, many places didn t
even have schools that people with dark skin could attend. Another reason Rowan may have
waited to explain Miss Bessie s background early on, is because it helped the reader understand
why she was so tough on Carl and his education. Bessie knew many of the struggles African
Americans could face if they didn t focus on school and the right things, so she did everything in
her power to put him on the right track. The first time you hear of Mrs. Bessie s background it will
surprise you, but when looking at how she taught and worked with students, it s not surprising that
she become such a special teacher because of her unique schooling and

Quality Management in Current Business Management Issues
Objective
The objective of this study is to examine quality management in business and to apply

The U.S. Small Business Administration reports that effective management is the key to the
establishment and growth of the business and states as well that the key to successful management
is examination of the marketplace environment and create employment and profit opportunities that
provide the potential growth and financial viability of the business. (2009) Management, while
being of primary importance is reported as an area [that] is often misunderstood and poorly
implemented, primarily because people focus on the output rather than the process of management.
(U.S. Small Business Administration, 2009)
I. Socio Technical Systems Theory
The work of Zu (2009) entitled Infrastructure and Core Quality Management Practices: How Do
They Affect Quality? reports a study that sought to find a resolution to the findings in the quality
management literature that were conflicting about various quality management practices, and
specific to the infrastructure of quality management practices and core quality management
practices that impact quality performance. The study used the Socio Technical Systems theory and
research regarding quality management implementation and performance. Zu states in the findings
that the structural model contains two integrated factors used in

A Powerful Family And A Corruptive Society
A Powerful Family and A Corruptive Society
The Montana 1948 describes the twelve years old boy David, who witnesses the family tragedy
that involves murder, sexual assault, and racism during the summer of 1948. The Native
American Marie was killed by David s uncle Frank, who is the popular and well known doctor in
Bentrock. In order to cover up Frank s crime, David s father Wesley suffered both external and
internal pressure from the power of grandpa Julian, the justice system, and the name of Hayden.
Although Wesley works so hard to collect evidence against his brother Frank, Frank chooses to die
rather than to convince his guilt. Given too much power in the hand, the Hayden family is blind to
the laws and tend to manipulate the society. Thus, in order to preserve the fame of the Hayden
family, the Hayden abuses too much power and ignores the laws and justice, which leads the society
to the destruction.
The purpose of obtaining power is not for benefit townpeople as whole rather than to gain
domination in the society without practicing any laws. For grandpa Hayden, he had the ambition to
control others behaviors and he wanted, he needed, power пј€8)to make himself superior to others.
It is a common phenomenon that racism is one of prevailing trend in the society of 1948. Grandpa
Julian represents one of the typical examples that shows his extreme disdain and prejudice toward
the Native Americans, who are treated poorly and badly at that time. Although grandpa had an idea

  • 2. Importance Of Credible Sources A source is the place or resource in which knowledge has been obtained. When looking for sources to use in a research paper you need to be able to determine whether or not a source is reliable and credible. It is important to use reliable and credible sources so that the information you use in a document you are writing is accurate and will not affect you in a negative way, by either getting a bad grade in school or just looking unintelligent to a colleague. A credible source is a source of good quality that a reader can trust to be truthful and believable, otherwise known as convincing or plausible. It is important to use credible sources to prove points because it enhances your own credibility as a writer by contributing to the effect of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When using ethos you create a sense of authority to the reader that what you are saying is reliable. For example, in commercials athletes advertise athletic products, while models advertise beauty products. This shows a reader that professional people in a certain field backup a product in a positive way. Ethos is also used when someone uses actions that a person has completed in the past, to help persuade people that they have experience and are reliable. When using logos you can cite statistics, analogies, and historical context about a topic to show you are a credible source and that the information you are using can be proven with evidence. It enhances a rational and fact based reasoning on a topic. If you use pathos and appeal to the more emotional side of a topic, a reader could immediately identify your source as bias, as it uses a human s sense of emotion to get someone to agree with a topic. A credible and reliable source can be determined through characteristics in spelling/grammar, citations and examples used within a document, and the author. Once a reliable and credible source has been identified you can use it in any research paper that will help improve your skills as a writer, and make your writing as reliable as the sources that allowed you to write it. When creating a reliable and credible source use ethos and logos to help support your claim, to enhance your authority and provide logical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are two main forms of diabetes: type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes is a genetically autoimmune disease when the body produces an immune response against its own cells, and destroys the insulin producing beta cells in the pancreas. As a result, the pancreas cannot produce enough insulin or totally stop producing insulin at a young age. The far more common diabetes is type 2 diabetes, which are around 90% of all people with diabetes (World Health Organization, 1999) and is caused by a combination of lifestyle and genetic factors. People with type 2 diabetes may still produce their own insulin, but the body cannot use them sufficiently, thus the blood glucose could not be balanced and cause long term health complications due to the persistent high blood glucose levels. This monumental building, centered in America, has withstood many trials, including being set to flame. (2) Since the area around The White House is a lovely green, it really complements the white, limestone coating that covers the exterior of the building. (5) Although there are many topics of which are important, there are three topics that are essential to knowing the history of this American icon: the building of the mansion, the modern day White House, and its legacy. Prior to the reading, my knowledge of stress echos only covered the bases of diagnosing coronary artery disease. This review focuses on the patients subjective complaints and its correlation with sudden death from HCM. It s common for us to see patient with HCM and to preform valsalva maneuvers to check for LVOT obstruction with increased velocities. However, a new understanding leads me to believe that preforming a valsalva maneuver at rest may not always cause an obstruction of the LVOT. In this review study, to get a better understanding of patients with HCM, they now stress the patients to evaluate LVOT ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Comparing The World Is Too Much With Us And God s Grandeur God s Grandeur by Gerard Manley Hopkins and The World Is Too Much With Us by William Wordsworth concur on the concept of nature versus the way society tends to treat it; however, they express it in different ways through tone and figurative language, such as metaphors and allusions. Gerard Manley Hopkins seems to have an abstract outlook on the concept of nature, taking it as a whole into great consideration and includes his personal religious beliefs within God s Grandeur such as how the holy ghost is watching over nature as it persists, which brings a positive side to the depressing reality (13 14). God s Grandeur uses many types of figurative language and poetic elements; however, the many metaphors and similes stand out the most for being the majority of the poem as well as conveying the horrors of humanity to his audience. Hopkins writes, It will flame out, like shining from shook ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The simile is based on foil, the thin sheet of metal, and compares it to the flame of humanity; essentially, once the light is gone, it s the end and time is either wasted or not, which Hopkins relates to shaking a piece of tinfoil and watching the light quickly disappear. Surprisingly, this is one of Hopkins less puzzling similes, which is shocking due to the fact that it seems to almost be a riddle. Aside from metaphors and similes, one of the strongest points for works of Gerard Manley Hopkins is the imagery, in which we see very dark flickers of what mankind has substantially come to. An example of dark imagery would be Generations have trod, have trod, have trod... (Hopkins 5). Repetition is also noticeable and significant in this line because it gives the ... • 9. Theme Of Superstition In Huckleberry Finn The use of superstition in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain makes the novel more interesting. It adds character depth, gives reasons for the actions of the characters, and drives the plot. It also makes the story a bit more humorous for the reader. Superstition, both good and bad, is a large part of this novel. This is true especially when it comes to the characters, and the way they interact with their surroundings and each other. The main character of the novel is Huckleberry Finn. His superstition is shown early on in the novel starting in chapter one, page three, paragraph three, line nineteen, when he talks about brushing a spider off of his shoulder into a candle. His father, Pap Finn has two nails formed into a cross of his left boot heel, which he believes will keep away the devil (chapter four, page sixteen, paragraph one, line ten). But Pap and Tom aren t his only influences. His beliefs could also come from his friend Jim, a slave who works for his guardians, Widow Douglas and Miss Watson. He is an extremely superstitious character, and it makes him very different from the rest. Jim s superstition is introduced in chapter two, page six, paragraph one, line six, when he says his hat had moved to a tree limb above him while he was sleeping because of witches bewitching him and taking him around the state, when it was really just Tom Sawyer messing with him. These stories make him well known. Huck looks up to Jim, and comes to him for answers. Huck asked Jim for answers from his hair ball oracle about his father. Jim tells him he has to pay, and after he does, Jim says that the hair ball told him that his father was coming, but Huck was going to be okay (chapter four, page seventeen, paragraph one, line three). • 10. Similarities Between The Book And The Movie The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby Romance, love, and destiny. Connections are formed like bridges built of various things; love, trust, money, fate. Some bridges are stronger than others and some bridges connect people who perhaps shouldn t be connected. The movie The Great Gatsby better expresses the romantic relationships and connections between characters. Between Tom and Daisy, whose relationship may have more to do with survival than love, with Myrtle and Tom, the bridge between them connecting two souls searching for something more in life. And then there are bridges like the one between Jordan and Nick, filled with lies and a bridge not often travelled, and if you re lucky you come across a bridge like Gatsby and Daisy s, which is made of love but filled with obstacles. These bridges play a key part in the story and the movie most definitely does a better job at expressing these connections between characters. Tom and Daisy have a very complicated relationship and the movie better demonstrates their complex relationship than the book. The film shows all the small gestures they share, and the novel gives the impression Daisy somewhat resented Tom after Gatsby s death, and the movie also humanizes Tom on a higher level than the book. In the film when Daisy told Tom she had never loved him while they were in town she immediately after addresses Gatsby with a cold reply detaching herself from the situation and seems angry at Gatsby making her tell Tom she didn t love him (The Great ... INTRODUCTION Background The role of logistics in United States Air Force (USAF) operations and by extension United States military operations cannot be underestimated nor undervalued. People of both professional and academic backgrounds have spent considerable time studying and capturing the relevant points of its application. While critical to almost all military units and corporations alike, logistics in definition and application is not easily defined. It is an over arching word covering many disparate topics such as supply, sustainment, production, transportation, warehousing, maintenance, planning, and others. The USAF implements logistics at the tactical, operational and strategic levels with the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) being its largest logistics focused organization. AFMC is home to strategic organizations such as the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) and the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center. Organizations such as the 635th Supply Chain Operations Wing (SCOW), logistics readiness squadrons and aerial port squadrons implement logistics at the USAF operational and tactical level. AFMC and the agencies it commands are the USAF s primary interfaces for both internal and external logistics support; it interfaces with suppliers such as the Defense Logistics Agency and General Services Administration and vendors like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Kovach Mobile Equipment. • 13. Recreation Management And Therapeutic Recreation Every year new students entering into the School of Health and Human Performance in the programs of Recreation Management and Therapeutic Recreation take part in a two day orientation. This orientation helps students gain a better understanding of recreation, learn about their programs, and create bonds with fellow classmates. Throughout the weekend this year, students were able to create memories with classmates whom they will be studying alongside over the course of their education. The orientation weekend served many different purposes for the students in both Recreation Management and Therapeutic Recreation. The first purpose of the retreat was to help students gain a better understandingof recreation. Many people, including myself before this orientation, believe that recreation is solely sports. However, that fact is far from true as recreation encompasses many different aspects such as art, music, photography, knitting, and running. Once students understood the different aspects of recreation they were able to learn more about their programs. This was done through having older students interact with new students, and by having professionals speak to the new students. The professionals were in both the Recreation Management and Therapeutic Recreation fields. Since my programof study is Recreation Management, I got to hear all about that field. In the speeches I learned how to get involved in recreation early on, how important managing recreation is, and about the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Example Of Psychological Egoism Win Ma PH 211: Ethics Rejecting Psychological Egoism Morality tells us what actions we should and should not do. We can only prescribe what to do or not do for actions possible for humans. Therefore, we need to answer what human nature is like. Our nature will provide us the motivation for our actions. One answer is psychological egoism, which says the motivation of all human actions is self interest. It stands implicitly in opposition to the principle of altruism: human actions can be done for the sake of others. This is because if psychological egoism is true, altruistic acts are egoistic acts. I believe psychological egoism is not a well supported position. To prove this, I will show how three psychological egoism supporting arguments are unsound. I will also propose an alternative description of human nature: Humans do not always act in self interest. Rather, they sometimes act in self interest and sometimes act for the sake of others. The first pro psychological egoism argument I will consider is Shafer Landau s Argument From Strongest Desires. (Shafer Landau, 94) 1.Whenever you do something, you are motivated by your strongest desire 2.Whenever you are motivated by your strongest desire, you are pursuing self interest 3.Therefore, whenever you do something, you are pursuing your self interest The argument s problem is the 2nd ... • 15. Nitration of Methyl Benzoate NITRATION
OF
METHYL
BENZOATE

 Purpose:
The main objective of this experiment was to synthesize methyl nitrobenzoate from methyl benzoate, using the mixture of nitric and sulfuric acid by performing the process of electrophillic aromatic substitution. During this reaction, the combination of HNO3 and H2SO4 made a nitrating solution. The crystallization was done to accomplish pure product. The melting point and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) were performed to test the purity of the product. Using the methyl benzoate reaction product, methyl nitrobenzoate, one can determine the meta substituted, para substituted and orthosubstituted of the final products. Furthermore, HNMR and IR used to investigate the quality of the product.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would indicate that during the recrystallization there was a reduction in the percentage yield of the production. The obtained final product melting point rang was 76.2 780C. This would show that the experimental melting point was very close to the literature value of 78 80В°C which denotes the meta substituted of the product. So, the analysis of the melting point confirmed that the product was methyl meta nitrobenzoate as it was anticipated. Additionally, use of the melting point analysis shows that NO2 group could be added to the methyl benzoate at the meta position successfully. The ortho and para products could have been also analyzed during the experiment; however, they were not chosen for the product (methyl benzoate) because they have unstable resonance forms that have positive charges near one another. The two positive charges that are next to one another can make the product to be unstable and as result ortho and para substituted products are not favorable in this electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction. Also, an IR of the product confirmed that methyl m nitrobenzoate as a favorable. A peak located at 1536.1cm showed of the Aromatic C=C. At the 1351.8cm 1 there is a 1 presence of NO2. Rhetorical Devices In Richard Matheson s I Am Legend Richard Matheson s, I Am Legend, focuses on a dark, haunting dystopian society highlighted using an array of rhetorical devices to create suspenseful and thrilling action The rhetorical devices in the first third of the passage are used to paint a picture of the man persuading Robert to follow him and be saved. The mysterious man is portrayed as being unappealing and threatening. For example, the use of sonic imagery to describe the man s voice as having a grating rasp allows readers to visualize this unhealthy figure as disturbing. The simile comparing the man s throat moving like a clammy turkey skin shows a resemblance between his neck to that of a saggy turkey, making us believe the man is either old, is severely ill and malnourished, or both. He has red splotched cheeks, feverish eyes , and a black suit that is unpressed and unclean . The use of this visual imagery allows us to vividly see how the man is wholly unfit and disheveled. This is also asyndeton and is used to speed up the rhythm, creating more suspenseful action. The man grabs Robert and his fingers are compared to that of a skeleton to ... Today, more than ever, with the use of social media, our society is under pressure to conform. With the creation of Facebook and Twitter, our goals are to be friended, liked, followed, and accepted. Is our nation in danger of becoming lemmings? According to an entry in Urban Dictionary written by Aegis Kleais, a lemming is [a] derogatory term used to reference a person who seemingly does not possess any form of individual thought and instead mindlessly follows the behaviors and actions of the masses. Fortunately, short stories such as Tony Cade Bambara s The Lesson (1972) and Langston Hughes Salvation (1940) remind us of both the positive and negative effects of how an individual deals with group conformityand social pressure. The Lesson is a story of a close knit group of children from impoverished Harlem, New York who are taken on a field trip to learn about economic inequality. In Salvation, Hughes recalls his experience of religion as a young child, particularly an intense religious revival. • 45. Unforgettable Miss Bessie Analysis 1. Early in the essay, Carl T. Rowan describes Miss Bessie as five feet tall and no more than 110 pounds. While explaining how she doesn t seem physically threatening, Rowan notes she had a towering presence in the classroom. She was the only woman tough enough to make me read Beowulf (411). Rowan s resistance towards reading Beowulf led to him learning about Miss Bessie s large brown eyes, that resembled daggerish slits (411). Rowan describes his former teacher in a way that resembles someone who is looking up to an authoritative figure. Whenever he comments on her appearance or personality, it he does in a very respectful context. Just by the way Rowan often talks about Miss Bessie, it s obvious the amount of respect and admiration he has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the essay Unforgettable Miss Bessie, the author Carl. T. Rowan doesn t share the details about Miss Bessie s background until the ninth paragraph of his writing. I believe he did this so that while he described what she was like as an individual, you could paint your own picture of her before you found out what made her that way. When taking into consideration her role in society as a teacher, it was fascinating to hear that she attended a school that was originally for black people. During the time period in which Miss Bessie was getting her education, many places didn t even have schools that people with dark skin could attend. Another reason Rowan may have waited to explain Miss Bessie s background early on, is because it helped the reader understand why she was so tough on Carl and his education. Bessie knew many of the struggles African Americans could face if they didn t focus on school and the right things, so she did everything in her power to put him on the right track. The first time you hear of Mrs. Bessie s background it will surprise you, but when looking at how she taught and worked with students, it s not surprising that she become such a special teacher because of her unique schooling and ... The Native American Marie was killed by David s uncle Frank, who is the popular and well known doctor in Bentrock. In order to cover up Frank s crime, David s father Wesley suffered both external and internal pressure from the power of grandpa Julian, the justice system, and the name of Hayden. Although Wesley works so hard to collect evidence against his brother Frank, Frank chooses to die rather than to convince his guilt. Given too much power in the hand, the Hayden family is blind to the laws and tend to manipulate the society. Thus, in order to preserve the fame of the Hayden family, the Hayden abuses too much power and ignores the laws and justice, which leads the society to the destruction.
