The Mortality Of Maternal Mortality Essay
In 2013, 289 000 women died during pregnancy and childbirth and it was estimated that everyday 800
women all over the world died from childbirth or childbirth related problems (World Health
Organization, 2014). Often, maternal mortality is found to occur more often in developing countries
than developed countries. Maternal mortality refers women who died from the situation like during
pregnancy, termination of pregnancy within 42 days, regardless of duration and place of pregnancy,
from aggravation caused by the pregnancy or pregnancy management (Nwagha et al, 2010). Maternal
mortality may be resulted from direct or indirect cause. Direct causes are from obstetric complications
of pregnancy, labour, and puerperium, and interventions whereas indirect causes are from the
worsening of current conditions by pregnancy or delivery (Givewell, 2009). This paper aims to
examine the causes for maternal mortality in both developed and developing countries and will end
with a proposal for government to ensure women are given reproductive health rights.
Developed countries
In his article, Why are so many U.S. women dying during childbirth? , Munz (2012) pointed out that
U.S. is experiencing a rise in maternal mortality. It has doubled for the last 25 years and the experts
are uncertain about the increase. Experts are not entirely clear for the rise in the maternal deaths in the
U.S., but there are some aspects that may be link to this.

Examples Of Plagiarism In Modern Times
Modern Times, Plagiarize Crimes In 2006 Bob Dylan, a famous singer songwriter created an album
called Modern Times. This album grew instant success becoming number one on the Billboard charts.
Soon after its release, audiences found some things that were unsettling, which led to the start of
allegations. Very similar comparisons were found between Dylan s album and Henry Timrod s poems
like phrases that were copied verbatim. With these accusations Dylan and many others came to his
defense, stating that this is merely just folk process but with no credit to the source, this simply is not
excusable. His techniques in hiding this theft by changing the context and lack of acknowledgment to
the original author is a sign of complete and utter disrespect. Seeing the supportive evidence and
similarity between Bob Dylan s album and Henry Timrod s poetry, it is evident that this is more than
just a coincidence and is clearly plagiarised. In this particular situation, the debate is not whether or
not Bob Dylan used Timrods work or if Dylan even knows who Timrod is, instead the debate is over
whether Dylan s use of Timrod s poems was plagiarism, folk process or an allusion to Henry. Dylan s
interest in the Civil War mentioned in Chronicles:Vol. I(Rich), was definitely something that gave his
source away. Since Henry Timrod was a poet that wrote about the Civil War, it it easy to see how
Dylan might have stumbled across his work and heavily studied it due to his fascination with it. In
Modern Times it is easy to see the resemblance to Timrod s poetry in most songs like When the Deal
Goes Down , Spirit on the Waters and Workingman s Blue #2 . For example in the poem A Rhapsody
of a Southern Winter Night multiple phrases like A round of precious hours , frailer than the flowers
and wisdom that grows up in strife (qtd Timrod) are taken word for word and were put into Dylan s
song When the Deal Goes Down . The singer decided to change the context of the wording in some
parts but in others they had the exact same meaning. In Henry Timrod s poem he is comparing logic to
flowers whereas Dylan compared the precious hours to the flowers. Chris Dineen, a fan says It seems
kind of duplicitous. Even casual fans know

Should Sex Education And Birth Control Be Enforced To...

Rough Draft (4pgs)
Title: Sex Education and Birth Control should be enforced to prevent Teenage Pregnancies
Approximately one million teens get pregnant and give birth every year in the United States. Eighty
percent of those births are to unmarried teens (ProQuest Staff) . Teenage Pregnancy is when a
mentally immature female adolescent under the age of nineteen is pregnant. Pregnant Teenagers would
have to face many consequences and problems because they are physically and mentally unprepared
to have babies. The teenagers futures would be limited because they would have to quit high school to
care for their babies and it have been proven that the adolescents would mostly be poor when they
become adults. They would also be prone to health problems like high blood pressure, premature
birth, postpartum depression, STDs, etc. The teenagers would not be the only that would be affected,
their babies would also be affected because it might be born premature and there is a high possibility
that he or she would have a low birth rate. Most children that were born by teenagers do worse in
school than other children born from adults. Teenage Pregnancy should be prevented because it does
not have any positive affects to the people in the United States. It could be prevented by enforcing sex
education and birth controls because it would make adolescents more aware about the consequences
and the birth pills would stop unsafe sex and

Cuban Missile Crisis
The Cuban missile Crisis began in October 1962, when the US discovered Soviet missiles were being
stored in Cuba, finding these missiles meant the US the Soviet Union were on the verge of a Nuclear
War.
In the lead up to the Cuban Missile Crisis, the US governments intention was to have Castro
overthrown. However Castro had both the political military support of the Soviet Union and started
receiving secret shipments of Soviet arms.
On the 14th October 1962 during a routine mission over Cuba, a spy plane obtained pictures
confirming the presence of nuclear missiles. Two days later, a detailed analysis of this evidence was
presented to President Kennedy. As the US Government had received indications that the Soviet
missiles would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However once there was no longer a threat of German and Japanese control, the Soviet Union took
this opportunity to try and win global domination. As the Soviet Union continued to spread through
Eastern Europe, America feared for their safety and freedom.
American citizens were worried their way of life and what defined them as a nation would be taken
away by communist nations, with Russia being the most threatening. After WW11, the depression
ended and for the first time in decades the economy was at its best. However the communists were
still a threat and had the potential to completely change the American way of life.
As the Cold War continued, the possible threat of nuclear war sent America into paranoia. Bomb
shelters were built in every new home; people began to stockpile foods in case they were required to
stay in the shelters for a length of time. Emergency procedures were put in place and practice runs
carried out at home and schools.
The decisions made by President Kennedy during the Cuban Missile Crisis could have been the
turning point in the capitalism that Americans were accustomed to and given them a taste of
communism. If this had happened, the world would be a total contrast of what we know it as

Analysis Of The Twilight Saga
The Cullen Family: More than just Blood Sucking Vampires
The Twilight Saga, by Stephanie Meyer, has been viewed as a narrative of either teenage lust or
romantic love characterized by Bella, a private seventeen year old girl, and Edward, a mysterious
vampire who goes to Bella s high school; Yet no one has credited the Cullen s in the full light they
deserve, in the way that they display family loyalty, self control, and altruism among their family of
vampires. The book series infatuated the hearts of teenage girls across the world, and even expanded
upon those horizons to reach an audience so wide that the book series became a household name.
Critics have endlessly discussed the love, or lust, of the two individuals and are fascinated by the fact
that the Twilight Saga falls not just in the genre of romance, but also in the supernatural/ horror
category. Maple, in an article that discusses this barrier breaking love that Bella and Edward display,
states throughout the story Bella and Edward share an unorthodox relationship, a love above and
beyond all others: something more expressive of eternal commitment (Maple). Maple emphasizes how
deep and rare the love between the two adolescents is, and I would argue that human s innate desire
for this kind of love is one of the main reasons why Twilight became so widespread. However, another
basis for the obsession of the books is simply because The Cullen s, the family in which Edward
belongs to, represent vampires in a

Hannah s Alienation In Thirteen Reasons Why By Jay Asher
In the novel Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, the main cause of Hannah s alienation is having the
people she cared about the most stab her in the back, betrayed her and having people making fun of
her. Hannah Baker moved into a new town before her first year of high school. She didn t know very
many people. But the people she did where nice to her for the most part but later on. Early on in the
story, Hannah talks about how she had been having dreams about her first kiss for a while and when
she did get it it was almost just like her dreams. But when justin (the person she had her first kiss
with) told his friends the the had sex that night and he gave his friends the idea that they can touch her
without permission and around school people were calling her a slut because of the rumor that was

A rumor based on a kiss started a reputation that people believed in and reacted to (Asher). After the
rumor stated the whole memory of the kiss got ruined and she didn t even want it anymore because it
was causing so much pain with what people were saying about her and what the guys were doing to
her because Justin told a lie about that night. Ryan was someone she met when she first came to the
town. Later on, they became better friends and she showed him a private poem she wrote but he stole
it and put it on the school paper claiming he found it laying around somewhere. After it was posted
Hannah had to hear everyone make fun of her poem. It was never a lost poem, Ryan. And you never
found it, so it did not belong in your collection (Asher). Hannah trusted Ryan to see the poem she
wrote not knowing he would take it and put it on the school paper she didn t trust him after that and
felt horrible about what everyone was saying about her poem she made. The main cause of Hannah s
alienation is having her friends stab her in the back betray her and people making fun of

Examples Of Team Sensemaking
Accordingly to Jensen (2009) sensemaking within a team is affected by the team s team process. The
team process can be described as team members individual act that transform inputs into outcomes
through cognitive, verbal and behavioral activities to organize work and achieve collective goals
(Marks et al. 2001).
Team sensemaking is defined as the process where a team manages and coordinates its efforts to
explain and understand a situation and anticipate future situations, often during unclear conditions
(Klein et al, 2010). Klein et al (2010) further argues that team sensemaking is not a new kind of
sensemaking, it is rather the coordination of the team members when seeking data, synthesize the data
and then disseminate inferences. Through co creation of knowledge and social negotiation of
inferences, the outcome of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This concept is similarly defined as collective sensemaking by Albert and Hayes (2006) who define it

defined by Klein et al (2010) a shared awareness, knowledge, understanding and interaction between
the collaborators (Albert Hayes, 2006). The concept of collective sensemaking will be explained in
more detail in the next the section. Klein et al (2010) further argues that team sensemaking is a
process that contributes to the larger process of team adaption. Klein et al (2010) developed a model
on team adaption, using concepts on a similar team adaption model by Burke et al. (2006). The model
by Klein et al (2010) of team adaption consists of three concepts for reaching operational success
which is building a picture, building a plan and executing a plan. The model of team adaption by

Kant Vs Hobbes
1. Thomas Hobbes is the founding father of modern political philosophy, in his work šLeviathanš he
sets out why people should obey governmental authority in order to avoid the risk of chaos and
bloodshed which he defines as the šstate of nature.š Imagine a world without laws. Hobbes called this
hypothetical time, with no rules to command our actions, a state of nature, and he describes life there
as solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short. In a state of nature, every man is against every man. One
might assume that in such a state of nature the strong would naturally triumph over the weak and
balance would be naturally restored, however, according to Hobbes people are equal. Every individual
possesses the natural right to preserve oneself, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, what s the general rule that stands behind the particular action that s being considered?
Kant refers to this principle of universality as categorical imperatives. If it is necessary for you to lie
to prevent an innocent person from being killed, you must ask what the maxim of the action is. The
maxim, in this case, is lying. If you approve the maxim of lying even to save a life then you are
universalizing that action, basically saying that everyone should always lie if it is in someone s best
interest. If you should be able to do it, then everyone should be able to do it. This leads to a
contradiction and Kant explicitly states that moral actions cannot bring about

Marlow s Lack Of Restraint Essay
In Joseph Conrad s infamous novella, Heart of Darkness, the narrator listens as Marlow tells his tale of
his journey in the Congo, where he comes across many different types of people, all of which he can
have hugely varying opinions on. It may seem at first that he simply views the Congolese as less than
himself, but his ideas of humanity are far more complex than that, and is not directly tied to race. It is
not the people that he despises, but the area they inhabit. He blames their environment and gives it this
eminent evil surrounding it. His is an issue with their lack of restraint to the evil and savagery of the
world. Marlow s creation of his own concept of restraint in relation to his journey informs of the major
themes and ideas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As he approaches Kurtz and continues down the river and further into the Congo, Marlow
accumulates around thirty native Congolese people working on his steamboat, and without a real
thought he makes the assumption and conclusion that they are all cannibals. He notes that they bring
Hippo meat with them, which according to him quickly goes rotten and has to be thrown overboard.
He then says, Why in the name of all the gnawing devils of hunger they didn t go for us they were
thirty to five and have a good tuck in for once, amazes me now when I think of it. They were big
powerful men, with not much capacity to weigh the consequences, with courage, with strength, even
yet... I saw that something restraining, one of those human secrets that baffle probability, had come
into play there. This is one of the only times that Marlow describes the native Congolese people as
human. Only through first basing this off several racist stereotypes, Marlow is able for a moment to
view the natives as human beings, because, in his own skewed and ridiculous view of them, he
believes that they have an incredible amount of restraint to the darkness that seems to emanate from
the Congo. Their self control and resistance to the savage urges is the quality Marlow believes makes
them equal to himself in the sense that they are human beings like himself. This is also telling of the
grand misunderstanding of Marlow with his entire experience and

Mandatory Military Service Essay
As many other countries mandate young adults partaking in the military for two years, the United
States should follow suit. Many beneficial consequences would be rendered as a result of the increase
in service. This would also be a great commencement into the real world for any young adult. These
statements can be explored by discussing the benefits of free college tuition, disciplined young adults
who are ready to follow orders, and the sheer power of numbers.
One exceptional perk of joining the military would be free college tuition. This would allow the
students who have not excelled as fast as others a doorway to achieve their full potential. This would

Another benefit of mandating the service of young adults is that they would be disciplined and setup
for success in life as a productive citizen of the United States. Military boot camp is designed to break
the recruit down to where they are not better than any other recruit, and then they train them to do
their best in every task they approach. This creates unrivaled discipline and extreme excellence in
every operation the United States military executes. Not only will this be useful while in military
service, but also when they begin to operate in the working world. This requirement will unify the
working force as a result of the mandated service. Businesses will be able to work efficiently and
accurately in all that they accomplish. Again, this will improve the United States as a country. Why
would the United States refuse this mandate? The only reason would be that they bring the law down
to the lowest denominator of the few people who argue with the benefits. These people might say that
not all people are designed to be in the military. However, the military has jobs for every make and
model. Every talent is useful to the military. Making young adult serve in the military for two years
would actually give them time to figure out what their future career is meant to be. Some people

Racial Inequality and Justice
Justice is a term that should not only prefer to different portions of distribution, but also to the
institutional conditions to develop individual capabilities, as well as cooperative communication.
Under this conception of justice, many people in the U.S. consider disciplinary justice as an
appropriate approach to sustain social order. However, it seems like there are more chances that the
minorities are targets of the inequality in justice system, especially in socio economic and political
problems.
Even if people of color were fully distributed in the capitalist hierarchy like white people, racism is
still a big problem of the inequality system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the National Center for Access to Justice (2015), a network of pro bono legal service
providers representing the poor has arisen to address the need of justice gap, but more than half of
those who seek help are turned away, as a result of unavailable adequate public funds and private
donations. By reducing the pro bono law firms, legislators indirectly thrust the poor into lack access of
finding qualified attorneys to represent themselves in bureaucratic proceedings. Rhode (2005)
suggests that in order to maintain the fairness of American justice, we need to press reforms in
political institutions, which has deep ideological and structural roots (p. 126). Those reforms include,
but not limited to, the distribution of legal self help materials, the procedures of resolving disputes
without lawyers or court hearings, the expansion of pro bono services, and the adequate funding of
legal aid agencies (Rhode, 2005, p. 126 134). Even though our laws can policies can change over
time, I believe Rhode s suggestions on reforms may have some involved complications due to the lack
of political actions, civil disobedience, and direct actions.
The United States is a dreadfully unequal society in terms of the distributions of material wealth,
especially the outstanding benefits and privileges that accumulate to wealth. This inequality is
enormous, regardless of race. However, the minorities are still struggling with the overall system of
socio economic inequality in which multiple scholars have to study, analyze, and suggest different
solutions for this

As a YouTube user, advertising is a pain and I try to avoid it whenever possible, but it could be much

Video advertisements have a response rate of 0.4%, which is still greater than regular web
advertisements such as banner ads, but is not an impressive number if I were a sporting goods
manufacturer looking to use YouTube video ads as a major part of my advertising budget. I can expect
that a large portion of the viewing audience would skip or block out my advertisement. The return on
investment is potentially very small. Another concern I would have would be copyright issues,
especially since 25% of the videos on YouTube contain copyrighted material and make up possibly
more than half of the total views. There could be potential risks of lawsuits from advertisements

Analysis Of Waiting For Godot
Originally performed in 1953 in French, Samuel Beckett s Waiting for Godot took the stage at the
Soulpepper Theatre in Toronto. The play tells the story of Vladimir and Estragon, two men who wait
for Godot, someone or something they have not met to seen. The Soulpepper Production illustrates the
journey that plays with Vladimir and Estragon s mind and emotion, in regard to the interactions with
their surroundings and themselves. The main focus of the production directs the audience s attention
towards an enclosed setting that limit the actions originally sought in the play. The production
however, focused more on Vladimir and Estragon s relationship, the play does not capture the same
effect. Thus, the production is a mere interpretation from what the play offers in portraying the stage.
From the play to the stage, Waiting for Godot illustrates how an enclosed setting represents Vladimir
and Estragon s mind. The production revolved around how the set and setting illustrated how the
characters interacted with one another and their surroundings. The structure of the stage appeared to
look like an alley way with concrete styled wall and a tree placed in the center; the setting which
occurred in a rectangular box. Therefore, Vladimir and Estragon performed in an enclosed space; thus,
represented their mind. Originally, the play takes place in a country road and Estragon sits on a
mound, but the production has the actor playing Estragon sitting on a concrete brick. The

Women Oppression In Literature
We re Not Going To Take It: Women Oppression in Literature
What is oppression? Oppression is defined as prolonged cruel or unjust treatment ( Oppression par. 1)
Women have experienced maltreatment since the Fall of Mankind. The subjection of women has
decreased within the past two centuries, due to their natural rights being acknowledged. Over the
years, people have protested the treatment of women through literature. Girl, Married Life,
Punishment, and The Declaration of Sentiments shares the theme of women s oppression. Despite
having the same themes, the authors use distinct social context and develop their arguments
differently.
Jamaica Kincaid, author of Girl, displays the unfair treatment of young women in Antiguan society. In
the poem, a girl is receiving a lecture on how to be a woman. She is not encouraged to be herself or to
gain an education. In fact, the mother continuously refers to her as a slut, the slut I know you are so
bent on becoming (Kincaid 1146) The role of the Antiguan woman is that of homemaker. Berleant
Schiller suggests, the domestic domain of women is sometimes implicitly regarded as inferior
(Berleant Schiller 254). Women in Antiguan society are taught extensively how to prepare meals and
set tables. Where and how an Antiguan family eat indicates their social standing (Berleant Schiller
259). Kincaid identifies the importance of the meal place through the use of repetition.

Metaphors Of Ephesians 1
In Ephesians 1 verse 11 it means that if you are a believer, God has assigned you to His chosen life.
That we have been chosen as Gods portion and He has appointed you to Himself. It also means that
God has chosen us as His inheritance. This is one of the many blessings which we have as believers.
God does this according to His purpose and His will. God is never forced by anyone or anything
outside of Him. Everything is under His control and is part of His plan. Every flower and plant God
controls its birth, it s growth and its death. Laws such as gravity and physics are under His control.
God never makes mistakes! He is in control of all creation and nothing is by chance. There is nothing
outside of His control. When I read this verse, it means to me that I was planned to be on this Earth,
by God. I was thought about even before my mom and dad were born. That God picked my mom and
dad just for me. God has a plan for my life and I should be looking for His will in my life and to live
it. God controls everything that happens to me and will happen to me. God knows my future and my
destiny. Ephesians 1 verse 12 talks about Gods work of the Father. God does everything for a purpose

These apparitions tell Macbeth the dangers of what may come to him; however, they also tell him not
to fear, for anyone born from a woman s womb cannot defeat Macbeth. In response to these
prophesies, Macbeth becomes stricter with his priorities. Macbeth s thoughts are becoming more
rationed into thinking only negative thoughts. The result of these apparition, gets Macbeth into the
mindset of killing Macduff s family because he fears that anyone in Macduff s bloodline may harm
Macbeth. The first mindset is the plot to murder Duncan; the second mindset is the plot to murder
Macduff s family. This pattern keeps building up on Macbeth, as the witches continue their plan for
Macbeth s tragic downfall. The witches are like an evil doctor that continues to inject Macbeth with a
negative vibe, leading Macbeth to do terrible actions. The witches play a massive role throughout the
play, and that is to curse Macbeth to do those terrible

School Counselor Reflection
As a future school counselor, I can reflect that these past eight weeks, I have a full understanding of
the roles and responsibilities of a school counselor in a traditional high school. Practicum 2 has been
learning experiences that I will remember as I start my new profession. I believe that being exposed
and actively involved with a group of school counselors brought a wide range of knowledge that I plan
to utilize in the future. As a continuum from my Practicum 1, the following CACREP standards are
mentioned below.
Counseling Helping Relationships Serving students with different backgrounds, personalities, or
beliefs may not be the easiest thing to do, as their thought process may differ. Therefore, it is essential
for school counselors to find healthy ways to build on a school counselor student relationship. There
are several characteristics or behaviors that I feel school counselors should have, that helps them
maintain a relationship with their students. Students can be more willing to open up their thoughts or
accept suggestions when the school counselor is a good listener. A lot of the times, we can think that
we have to do all the talking, but is necessary to step back and listen at the students first. Also, school
counselors must be friendly and easy to approach. Students can feel more comfortable with
individuals they like and accept. In addition, it is essential for all school counselors to appreciate
diversity. It is important for school counselors to

Benefits And Benefits Of Ultrasound Technology Essay
Introduction: The Advantages and Inconveniencies of Ultrasound Technology The delivery of the
portable compact ultrasound technology in India proposes a significant potential health benefit to
millions suffering from painful or potentially life threatening diseases, such as breast cancer,
gallbladder, and pancreas illnesses. Ultrasound is nontoxic, noninvasive and does not use ionizing

diverse medical fields such as anesthesia delivery, cardiac surgery, sports medicine, and emergency
medicine. An ultrasound is uniquely powerful in that it is the only imaging technology that can be
transported to a patient or used where a patient might most urgently need it. The ultrasound can be
utilized on the side of a road after a serious motor accident or in remote communities, as well as,
traveling to reach a health center. When considered this massive scope of medical applications, along
with the universal necessity for imaging equipment among the country and borough population in
India. The evidence shows why India s ultrasound market poses both a significant business and public
health opportunity. An important ethical issue that General Electric Healthcare faced when
implementing its strategies to introduce diagnostic equipment to developing countries was the
problem of female feticide in countries such as China and India. In regards to the developmental delay

Computer Software and Hacker Essay
Analysis of the Powerscreen Problem In our recent negotiation, my partner Dave and I assumed the
roles of Alan Hacker, a computer software developer, and Alan Hacker s lawyer. Being the lawyer in
the negotiation my objective was to avoid litigation with my client s partner Stanley Star and to aid in
the continuation of my client s co owned company HackerStar. In addition, I would assist Hacker in
coming to an agreement that would be satisfying for him both personally and financially. I felt that

Sustainable Development, International Law, and Trade
Sustainable Development, International Law and the Impact of Trade
At a time when trade continues to expand into the global economy, issues such as climate change,
environmental protection and sustainable development are becoming increasingly important
considerations in the process. However, the question is whether these issues are being adequately
addressed by current International trade regulations, trade agreements and International law.
According to the Australia Government, sustainable development represents one of the greatest
challenges facing Australia s governments, industry, business and community in the coming years .1
What is Sustainable Development?
The most widely accepted definition of sustainable development is from the Brundtland report,
namely, Sustainable Development is development that meets the needs of the present, without
compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. 2 This statement contains two
main aspects, first that the present generation s needs are met (intra generational equity) but more
importantly, that it is not made more difficult for future generation to meet their needs (inter
generational equity). Since the report was published, sustainable development has become an integral
part of environmental policy and has been the subject of numerous conferences and summits including
and the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in 1992,3 the World
Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD,

Critical Analysis Of Requiem For A Dream
Requiem for a Dream is a 2000 psychological drama directed by Darren Aronofsky. The story follows
four characters as they struggle with, and eventually succumb to their different addictions. This leads
to the characters imprisonment in a world of delusions and reckless desperation that is eventually
overtaken by reality. The film makes effective use of imagery and sound to create the feeling of the
film reeling towards the end at an impossible pace. By the end of the movie, the characters are
completely changed: withered, broken, and alone. Requiem for a Dream was screened at the 2000
Cannes film festival, and was met with primarily positive reviews.
Darren Aronofsky created the feeling of the film speeding up by shortening the length of the scenes as
the film progresses. At the beginning of the movie scenes are 90 seconds to 2 minutes in length, and it
s by shortening the length of scenes and frames that he created a sense of unease within the audience.
It s also reflective of the emotional states of the characters. At the beginning of the film, the characters
aren t necessarily too far gone to be saved. They still have time for each other, for their future, and
their plans. But as the scenes shorten their chances of saving themselves become slimmer. They
characters find themselves more and more alone as they becomes slaves to their addiction, doing
whatever they can to get their next fix.
Requiem for a dream is split between two primary narratives which center on

The Socio Economic Factors Of Teenage Pregnancy
Teenage pregnancy is normally identified as deprived life choice, for example, tasks of teenage
parenting have long term impact on the mental health of the mother and children (Statistics New
Zealand, 2003). It is important to identify the socio economic factors of teenage pregnancy to lower
the chances of mental health problems in young mothers. In this paper the aim is to analyse the main
socio economic factors of teenage pregnancy and discuss how it affects the mental health of an
adolescent mother in New Zealand. This essay will commence by identifying how a lack of education
is considered as a socio economic factor associated with teenage pregnancy, followed by the second
theme which will consist of economic circumstances such as, parental unemployment and welfare
dependency. Lastly, this essay will discuss how deficiency of support from family and friends lead to
unstable relationships, which has a huge impact on a teenage mother s mental health. A lack of
education is one of the main socio economic factors which impact the mental health of an adolescent
mother. Studies show a number of negative outcomes that are linked with dropping out of school at an
early age. For example, youth that tend to gain fewer educational qualifications are more likely to be
in unstable relationships resulting in a lack of knowledge regarding contraceptive use which leaves
them to deal with economic circumstances (Breheny Stephens, 2008; Friesen, Woodward, Fergusson,

History Of U.s. And Cuba

The History of the U.S. and Cuba
The United States is known for being one of the greatest and strongest countries in the world looking
at past events and in this day and age. What might strike some people as shocking is that the U.S.
would not be as strong without close ties with other countries or allies. Examples would be France,
England, and Canada, plus many more. What people don t talk about is the U.S. s rivals or countries
that the U.S. has had trouble with in the past leading up to now. One of the most renowned countries is
only ninety miles away from the southern tip of Florida and that is Cuba. Cuba is known for the
fantastic beaches, some of the most well known baseball players around, and, of course, Cuban cigars
and rum. But, the past with Cuba is not as bright as the U.S. wants it to be because of historical events
such as the embargo, the Bay of Pigs, and the Cuban missile crisis during World War II that caused the
two countries to separate as allies and close tied nations. Over the past year the U.S. and Cuba have
been trying to put the past behind them and have diplomatic and cultural relations once again. The last
president to visit the nation of Cuba was President Calvin Coolidge in 1928. Since then there has
many problems between the two nations. Fourteen months ago President Barrack Obama announced
that there would be an effort in trying to normalize relations with Cuba. As the President has

Effects Of The Panic Of 1837
The panic of 1837 was arguably more devastating than the depression of the 1930 s, yet less well
known. During the period of roughly 7 years between 1837 and the mid 1840 s the U.S. economy
underwent massive economic hardships and consequences which many economists ultimately believe
helped lead to the American civil war in 1861. Causes for the panic include: government policies,
speculative lending practices, decline in cotton prices, a collapsing land bubble, international cash
flow and restrictive lending policies (Wiki). Historians believe that it was Jackson s policies that lead
to the inflationary boom and the Panic of 1837, which suspended the convertibility of paper money
into specie. Historians point the finger to three of Jackson s policies. The first was Jackson s veto of a
bill to recharter the second Bank of the United States, in 1832. The federal reserves of the Bank of the
United States were distributed to the state chartered banks that were favored by Jackson. Historians
believe that this led to the reserve ratio being reduced because there was no central bank regulating the
banks. This led to an increase in the money supply and inflation (Sylla). The second policy was the
Deposit Act of 1836, which was the distribution of the surplus in paper money to the states, after the
National Debt was paid (Sylla, Rothbard 99). This extra money caused an increase in spending by the
states (Rothbard 100). The last policy led to the Panic of 1837; the Specie

Cannon Fire Research Paper
The cannon first originated in the early Yuan Dynasty. The cannons that are thought of today are large
tubes that have gunpowder, a cannonball, and a fuse inside of it. The fuse was where a spark could get
to the gunpowder and set off an explosion. This explosion pushes the projectile through the cannon
and sends it through the air. but, that isn t how it was when it was first invented. Today s cannons
evolved from bombards, early handheld weapons that shot large stones through the air. Eventually, in
the late Yuan dynasty, these bombards started to become bigger. As this weapon grew in size, the term
cannon took over. Cannons were transformed from a vase shaped tube to a long, iron barrel. To make
the cannon balls more deadly, they were filled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prior to the cannon, the sailing ship suffered major disadvantages in close quarter combat. Difficult to
maneuver and dependent on the wind, early sailing vessels were no match for galleys on calm steady
waters. Once cannons were fitted to sailing ships, however, the smaller, more controllable galleys
were unable to approach. The large guns could cause serious structural harm to ships. They functioned
like the rams that were fitted onto galleys, but permitted the attacking ship to maintain some degree of
distance. Cannons damaged the ropes and attacked the buoyancy of ships. Large cannonballs
destroyed ships in the same way that they knocked down castle walls. Furthermore, cannonballs that
impaled wooden ships showered the interior of the struck ship with dangerous splinters. Naval warfare
was revolutionized after the introduction of the

Domestic Terrorism Research Paper
Is America doing enough to address domestic terrorism? The American people are misunderstood or
what domestic terrorism consist of, because the government at times has times identifying what acts of
crimes might considered domestic terrorism. If we want to understand the threats we face, we have to
identify what the problem is. The problem is that there s a racial and ideological dimension to what
gets labeled terrorism and what doesn t. It gets subjected to political and rhetorical manipulation.
People need to understand that it doesn t matter what your religion or your background is. There s
terrorism in all forms (). We don t really have a good understanding of what terrorism is, Gerstein
says, noting that Seung Hui Cho, the Virginia Tech shooter, killed 32 people, but we re not really
calling him a terrorist we re calling him something else. But the Fort Hood shooter he killed 13
people, yet we called him a domestic terrorist. People need to understand that it doesn t matter what
your religion or your background is.
The government is spending so much resource on the War on Terror, consequently we aren t really
showing what we are spending our money on. TSA is a perfect example the America abundance of
resources spent to address ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Compulsory License
A compulsory license is an authorization given by a national authority granted without the permission
of the patent/IPR holder. Historically speaking, a compulsory license can be invoked on one of the
various grounds, and should be issued on a case by case basis. Using compulsory license is one of the
flexibilities retained under TRIPS, and hence permitting Member States to determine the appropriate
circumstances within certain limits. Particularly, compulsory licensing provisions in India have been
under criticism regarding compliance with international treaties. The Indian Patent Act does not
confine the grounds to public health needs only. The grounds and types of compulsory license under
the Indian Patent Act are listed in Table 3 succinctly. This part would discuss the failure of working
(non working), the especially contested grounds in the following passages. 1. The Rationale behind

In order to adjust high prices brought by granting exclusivity to IPR owners, some countries assert that
using local working requirements as a means to the end. Labeling this rationale as protectionism,
Cottier et al. argue that there are still other useful means to achieve the same end, such as increasing
foreign direct investment (FDI) or reverse engineering. The positive relationship between FDI and
IPR protection has long been argued, while the latitude for competitors to reverse engineer is
decreasing owing to the higher harmonization pressure from IPR maximalist countries. Conversely,
the quality of human resources and business environmental soundness maybe has more influence on
FDI. Professor Ragavan points out with discernment that countries having increasing FDI are actually
the countries recognized to have disreputable fame in IPR protection once before, such as China and

Gender And Male And Gender
Throughout today s society, almost every aspect of someone s actions is based on whether or not he or
she fits into the social norms that have been created. It is now clear that males are the dominant
figures in our society. Norms in society do not just come randomly to one s life; they start since a child
is born. When a child is born the first question asked by the parents, family, and friends is the gender
of the child, whether it is a girl or a boy. In contrast, the terms sex and gender have always been
interdependent terms but have distinct meanings. Sex is male and female while gender is masculine
and feminine. In essence, sex refers to the biological differences and hormonal profiles. For example
females have boobs and males do not. In the other hand, gender describes the characteristics that a
society or culture present as masculine or feminine. For example, the color blue is for boys and pink is
for girls which not has always been the case. The article from the publication Earnshaw s Infants
Department The generally accepted rule is pink for the boys, and blue for the girls. The reason is that
pink, being a more decided and stronger color, is more suitable for the boy, while blue, which is more
delicate and dainty, is prettier for the girl . Jayme Poisson, a journalist, in her article Parents Keep
Child s Gender Secret she describes a family who has decided to raise their child named Storm
without revealing their gender, in order for Storm to feel free to

Essay On Lyme Disease
Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that can be found in Deer ticks.
The disease starts after an infected tick expels its salivary gland and abdominal contents into the skin
of a human. In about 60 70% of cases, a rash may develop at the site of the tick bite. This rash is most
often circular with a clear edge, but oblong and other shaped rashes may occur as well in response to
the tick bite. This rash is known as erythema migrans or EM. This rash usually starts about 3 30 days
after the tick bite. Sometimes this rash is mistaken as a spider bite . It is called migrans because it
grows in size, gradually expanding over several days to greater than 2 inches across; some rashes can
cover very large areas, such as an entire back. If the center of the rash clears, the rash may take on a
bull s eye appearance. The rash is usually not itchy or painful. Sometimes, other rashes occur in other
parts of the body far away from the initial tick bite. This is because ... Show more content on

A Brief Note On The Peak Community Partners
More than 16 million children, or roughly one in five, were living in poverty in 2011, according to the
U.S. Census Bureau s official poverty measure (pdf). That is higher than any other age group. Poverty
to such a degree prohibits parents the ability to provide their children with any extra luxuries outside
of the conventional education. Moreover, traditions such as prom let alone extracurricular activities
that cost are out of the question due to the expense. Pikes Peak Community Partners (PPCP) will try to
incorporate service learning initiatives with the responsibilities of running a solvent nonprofit. It is
PPCP s belief that every child should be able to enjoy the opportunities that are available to them in
both a traditional high school setting that they earn through hard work and dedication. The program is
designed to help children obtain and retain the resources necessary to affect real change within their
community, thus giving them the opportunity to build something great even if it is merely a friendship
that will last a lifetime. Consequently, the project will help the youth of the Pikes Peak region obtain
opportunities that may not otherwise be afforded to them, while teaching students (youth) leadership,
social, and business skills that will be utilized throughout their lives.
The creation of a nonprofit will help address the needs of disadvantaged youth in the Pikes Peak
region by giving the responsibility back to the youth. Initially, the first project

BEST HIKING SHOE BRANDS
Humans started wearing shoes more than 40000 years ago. Some old Spanish cave drawings show
humans wearing animal skin or fur around their feet. Shoes have been around, in different forms, for a
very long time. Sandals were the most primitive form of footwear, however some older civilizations
preferred wearing the shoes that were soft and were used for hiking on borders of Iran. However some
of the ancient civilizations like Egypt didn t wear shoes due to their suitable climatic and landscape
situations. The Romans saw footwear as a symbol of status and power and their slaves remained
barefoot. Then high heeled shoes were introduced in the Middle Ages which were also associated with
power and status. In some cultures, people removed their shoes to show respect to some other person.
So most of the religious communities required people to remove their shoes ... Show more content on

  • 2. The Mortality Of Maternal Mortality Essay In 2013, 289 000 women died during pregnancy and childbirth and it was estimated that everyday 800 women all over the world died from childbirth or childbirth related problems (World Health Organization, 2014). Often, maternal mortality is found to occur more often in developing countries than developed countries. Maternal mortality refers women who died from the situation like during pregnancy, termination of pregnancy within 42 days, regardless of duration and place of pregnancy, from aggravation caused by the pregnancy or pregnancy management (Nwagha et al, 2010). Maternal mortality may be resulted from direct or indirect cause. Direct causes are from obstetric complications of pregnancy, labour, and puerperium, and interventions whereas indirect causes are from the worsening of current conditions by pregnancy or delivery (Givewell, 2009). This paper aims to examine the causes for maternal mortality in both developed and developing countries and will end with a proposal for government to ensure women are given reproductive health rights. Developed countries In his article, Why are so many U.S. women dying during childbirth? , Munz (2012) pointed out that U.S. is experiencing a rise in maternal mortality. It has doubled for the last 25 years and the experts are uncertain about the increase. Experts are not entirely clear for the rise in the maternal deaths in the U.S., but there are some aspects that may be link to this. More pregnant women are found to have chronic ... • 3. Examples Of Plagiarism In Modern Times Modern Times, Plagiarize Crimes In 2006 Bob Dylan, a famous singer songwriter created an album called Modern Times. This album grew instant success becoming number one on the Billboard charts. Soon after its release, audiences found some things that were unsettling, which led to the start of allegations. Very similar comparisons were found between Dylan s album and Henry Timrod s poems like phrases that were copied verbatim. With these accusations Dylan and many others came to his defense, stating that this is merely just folk process but with no credit to the source, this simply is not excusable. His techniques in hiding this theft by changing the context and lack of acknowledgment to the original author is a sign of complete and utter disrespect. Seeing the supportive evidence and similarity between Bob Dylan s album and Henry Timrod s poetry, it is evident that this is more than just a coincidence and is clearly plagiarised. In this particular situation, the debate is not whether or not Bob Dylan used Timrods work or if Dylan even knows who Timrod is, instead the debate is over whether Dylan s use of Timrod s poems was plagiarism, folk process or an allusion to Henry. Dylan s interest in the Civil War mentioned in Chronicles:Vol. I(Rich), was definitely something that gave his source away. Since Henry Timrod was a poet that wrote about the Civil War, it it easy to see how Dylan might have stumbled across his work and heavily studied it due to his fascination with it. In Modern Times it is easy to see the resemblance to Timrod s poetry in most songs like When the Deal Goes Down , Spirit on the Waters and Workingman s Blue #2 . For example in the poem A Rhapsody of a Southern Winter Night multiple phrases like A round of precious hours , frailer than the flowers and wisdom that grows up in strife (qtd Timrod) are taken word for word and were put into Dylan s song When the Deal Goes Down . The singer decided to change the context of the wording in some parts but in others they had the exact same meaning. In Henry Timrod s poem he is comparing logic to flowers whereas Dylan compared the precious hours to the flowers. Chris Dineen, a fan says It seems kind of duplicitous. Even casual fans know ... XueBing Xie Mr. Hines ELA 11 College English 1/29/15 Rough Draft (4pgs) Title: Sex Education and Birth Control should be enforced to prevent Teenage Pregnancies Approximately one million teens get pregnant and give birth every year in the United States. Eighty percent of those births are to unmarried teens (ProQuest Staff) . Teenage Pregnancy is when a mentally immature female adolescent under the age of nineteen is pregnant. Pregnant Teenagers would have to face many consequences and problems because they are physically and mentally unprepared to have babies. The teenagers futures would be limited because they would have to quit high school to care for their babies and it have been proven that the adolescents would mostly be poor when they become adults. They would also be prone to health problems like high blood pressure, premature birth, postpartum depression, STDs, etc. The teenagers would not be the only that would be affected, their babies would also be affected because it might be born premature and there is a high possibility that he or she would have a low birth rate. Most children that were born by teenagers do worse in school than other children born from adults. Teenage Pregnancy should be prevented because it does not have any positive affects to the people in the United States. It could be prevented by enforcing sex education and birth controls because it would make adolescents more aware about the consequences and the birth pills would stop unsafe sex and ... Cuban Missile Crisis The Cuban missile Crisis began in October 1962, when the US discovered Soviet missiles were being stored in Cuba, finding these missiles meant the US the Soviet Union were on the verge of a Nuclear War. In the lead up to the Cuban Missile Crisis, the US governments intention was to have Castro overthrown. However Castro had both the political military support of the Soviet Union and started receiving secret shipments of Soviet arms. On the 14th October 1962 during a routine mission over Cuba, a spy plane obtained pictures confirming the presence of nuclear missiles. As the Soviet Union continued to spread through Eastern Europe, America feared for their safety and freedom. American citizens were worried their way of life and what defined them as a nation would be taken away by communist nations, with Russia being the most threatening. After WW11, the depression ended and for the first time in decades the economy was at its best. However the communists were still a threat and had the potential to completely change the American way of life. As the Cold War continued, the possible threat of nuclear war sent America into paranoia. Bomb shelters were built in every new home; people began to stockpile foods in case they were required to stay in the shelters for a length of time. Emergency procedures were put in place and practice runs carried out at home and schools. The decisions made by President Kennedy during the Cuban Missile Crisis could have been the turning point in the capitalism that Americans were accustomed to and given them a taste of communism. • 7. Analysis Of The Twilight Saga The Cullen Family: More than just Blood Sucking Vampires The Twilight Saga, by Stephanie Meyer, has been viewed as a narrative of either teenage lust or romantic love characterized by Bella, a private seventeen year old girl, and Edward, a mysterious vampire who goes to Bella s high school; Yet no one has credited the Cullen s in the full light they deserve, in the way that they display family loyalty, self control, and altruism among their family of vampires. The book series infatuated the hearts of teenage girls across the world, and even expanded upon those horizons to reach an audience so wide that the book series became a household name. Critics have endlessly discussed the love, or lust, of the two individuals and are fascinated by the fact that the Twilight Saga falls not just in the genre of romance, but also in the supernatural/ horror category. Maple, in an article that discusses this barrier breaking love that Bella and Edward display, states throughout the story Bella and Edward share an unorthodox relationship, a love above and beyond all others: something more expressive of eternal commitment (Maple). Maple emphasizes how deep and rare the love between the two adolescents is, and I would argue that human s innate desire for this kind of love is one of the main reasons why Twilight became so widespread. However, another basis for the obsession of the books is simply because The Cullen s, the family in which Edward belongs to, represent vampires in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hannah trusted Ryan to see the poem she wrote not knowing he would take it and put it on the school paper she didn t trust him after that and felt horrible about what everyone was saying about her poem she made. The team process can be described as team members individual act that transform inputs into outcomes through cognitive, verbal and behavioral activities to organize work and achieve collective goals (Marks et al. 2001). Team sensemaking is defined as the process where a team manages and coordinates its efforts to explain and understand a situation and anticipate future situations, often during unclear conditions (Klein et al, 2010). Thomas Hobbes is the founding father of modern political philosophy, in his work šLeviathanš he sets out why people should obey governmental authority in order to avoid the risk of chaos and bloodshed which he defines as the šstate of nature.š Imagine a world without laws. Hobbes called this hypothetical time, with no rules to command our actions, a state of nature, and he describes life there as solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short. In a state of nature, every man is against every man. One might assume that in such a state of nature the strong would naturally triumph over the weak and balance would be naturally restored, however, according to Hobbes people are equal. In other words, what s the general rule that stands behind the particular action that s being considered? Kant refers to this principle of universality as categorical imperatives. If it is necessary for you to lie to prevent an innocent person from being killed, you must ask what the maxim of the action is. The maxim, in this case, is lying. If you approve the maxim of lying even to save a life then you are universalizing that action, basically saying that everyone should always lie if it is in someone s best interest. If you should be able to do it, then everyone should be able to do it. This leads to a contradiction and Kant explicitly states that moral actions cannot bring about ... • 11. Marlow s Lack Of Restraint Essay In Joseph Conrad s infamous novella, Heart of Darkness, the narrator listens as Marlow tells his tale of his journey in the Congo, where he comes across many different types of people, all of which he can have hugely varying opinions on. It may seem at first that he simply views the Congolese as less than himself, but his ideas of humanity are far more complex than that, and is not directly tied to race. It is not the people that he despises, but the area they inhabit. He blames their environment and gives it this eminent evil surrounding it. His is an issue with their lack of restraint to the evil and savagery of the world. As he approaches Kurtz and continues down the river and further into the Congo, Marlow accumulates around thirty native Congolese people working on his steamboat, and without a real thought he makes the assumption and conclusion that they are all cannibals. He then says, Why in the name of all the gnawing devils of hunger they didn t go for us they were thirty to five and have a good tuck in for once, amazes me now when I think of it. They were big powerful men, with not much capacity to weigh the consequences, with courage, with strength, even yet... I saw that something restraining, one of those human secrets that baffle probability, had come into play there. This is one of the only times that Marlow describes the native Congolese people as human. Only through first basing this off several racist stereotypes, Marlow is able for a moment to view the natives as human beings, because, in his own skewed and ridiculous view of them, he believes that they have an incredible amount of restraint to the darkness that seems to emanate from the Congo. Their self control and resistance to the savage urges is the quality Marlow believes makes them equal to himself in the sense that they are human beings like himself. This is also telling of the grand misunderstanding of Marlow with his entire experience and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many beneficial consequences would be rendered as a result of the increase in service. This would also be a great commencement into the real world for any young adult. These statements can be explored by discussing the benefits of free college tuition, disciplined young adults who are ready to follow orders, and the sheer power of numbers. Another benefit of mandating the service of young adults is that they would be disciplined and setup for success in life as a productive citizen of the United States. Military boot camp is designed to break the recruit down to where they are not better than any other recruit, and then they train them to do their best in every task they approach. This creates unrivaled discipline and extreme excellence in every operation the United States military executes. Not only will this be useful while in military service, but also when they begin to operate in the working world. This requirement will unify the working force as a result of the mandated service. Businesses will be able to work efficiently and accurately in all that they accomplish. Again, this will improve the United States as a country. Why would the United States refuse this mandate? The only reason would be that they bring the law down to the lowest denominator of the few people who argue with the benefits. These people might say that not all people are designed to be in the military. However, the military has jobs for every make and model. Every talent is useful to the military. Clark Sugata Racial Inequality and Justice Justice is a term that should not only prefer to different portions of distribution, but also to the institutional conditions to develop individual capabilities, as well as cooperative communication. Under this conception of justice, many people in the U.S. consider disciplinary justice as an appropriate approach to sustain social order. However, it seems like there are more chances that the minorities are targets of the inequality in justice system, especially in socio economic and political problems. Even if people of color were fully distributed in the capitalist hierarchy like white people, racism is still a big problem of the inequality system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the National Center for Access to Justice (2015), a network of pro bono legal service providers representing the poor has arisen to address the need of justice gap, but more than half of those who seek help are turned away, as a result of unavailable adequate public funds and private donations. By reducing the pro bono law firms, legislators indirectly thrust the poor into lack access of finding qualified attorneys to represent themselves in bureaucratic proceedings. Rhode (2005) suggests that in order to maintain the fairness of American justice, we need to press reforms in political institutions, which has deep ideological and structural roots (p. 126). Those reforms include, but not limited to, the distribution of legal self help materials, the procedures of resolving disputes without lawyers or court hearings, the expansion of pro bono services, and the adequate funding of legal aid agencies (Rhode, 2005, p. 126 134). Even though our laws can policies can change over time, I believe Rhode s suggestions on reforms may have some involved complications due to the lack of political actions, civil disobedience, and direct actions. The United States is a dreadfully unequal society in terms of the distributions of material wealth, especially the outstanding benefits and privileges that accumulate to wealth. This inequality is enormous, regardless of race. However, the minorities are still struggling with the overall system of socio economic inequality in which multiple scholars have to study, analyze, and suggest different solutions for this ... The play tells the story of Vladimir and Estragon, two men who wait for Godot, someone or something they have not met to seen. The Soulpepper Production illustrates the journey that plays with Vladimir and Estragon s mind and emotion, in regard to the interactions with their surroundings and themselves. The main focus of the production directs the audience s attention towards an enclosed setting that limit the actions originally sought in the play. The production however, focused more on Vladimir and Estragon s relationship, the play does not capture the same effect. Thus, the production is a mere interpretation from what the play offers in portraying the stage. From the play to the stage, Waiting for Godot illustrates how an enclosed setting represents Vladimir and Estragon s mind. The production revolved around how the set and setting illustrated how the characters interacted with one another and their surroundings. The structure of the stage appeared to look like an alley way with concrete styled wall and a tree placed in the center; the setting which occurred in a rectangular box. Oppression is defined as prolonged cruel or unjust treatment ( Oppression par. 1) Women have experienced maltreatment since the Fall of Mankind. The subjection of women has decreased within the past two centuries, due to their natural rights being acknowledged. Over the years, people have protested the treatment of women through literature. Girl, Married Life, Punishment, and The Declaration of Sentiments shares the theme of women s oppression. Despite having the same themes, the authors use distinct social context and develop their arguments differently. Jamaica Kincaid, author of Girl, displays the unfair treatment of young women in Antiguan society. In the poem, a girl is receiving a lecture on how to be a woman. She is not encouraged to be herself or to gain an education. In fact, the mother continuously refers to her as a slut, the slut I know you are so bent on becoming (Kincaid 1146) The role of the Antiguan woman is that of homemaker. Berleant Schiller suggests, the domestic domain of women is sometimes implicitly regarded as inferior (Berleant Schiller 254). Women in Antiguan society are taught extensively how to prepare meals and set tables. Where and how an Antiguan family eat indicates their social standing (Berleant Schiller 259). Kincaid identifies the importance of the meal place through the use of repetition. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The film makes effective use of imagery and sound to create the feeling of the film reeling towards the end at an impossible pace. During the period of roughly 7 years between 1837 and the mid 1840 s the U.S. economy underwent massive economic hardships and consequences which many economists ultimately believe helped lead to the American civil war in 1861. Causes for the panic include: government policies, speculative lending practices, decline in cotton prices, a collapsing land bubble, international cash flow and restrictive lending policies (Wiki). Historians believe that it was Jackson s policies that lead to the inflationary boom and the Panic of 1837, which suspended the convertibility of paper money into specie. Historians point the finger to three of Jackson s policies. The first was Jackson s veto of a bill to recharter the second Bank of the United States, in 1832. The federal reserves of the Bank of the United States were distributed to the state chartered banks that were favored by Jackson. Historians believe that this led to the reserve ratio being reduced because there was no central bank regulating the banks. This led to an increase in the money supply and inflation (Sylla). The second policy was the Deposit Act of 1836, which was the distribution of the surplus in paper money to the states, after the National Debt was paid (Sylla, Rothbard 99). This extra money caused an increase in spending by the states (Rothbard 100). The last policy led to the Panic of 1837; the Specie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Cannon Fire Research Paper The cannon first originated in the early Yuan Dynasty. The cannons that are thought of today are large tubes that have gunpowder, a cannonball, and a fuse inside of it. The fuse was where a spark could get to the gunpowder and set off an explosion. This explosion pushes the projectile through the cannon and sends it through the air. but, that isn t how it was when it was first invented. Today s cannons evolved from bombards, early handheld weapons that shot large stones through the air. Eventually, in the late Yuan dynasty, these bombards started to become bigger. As this weapon grew in size, the term cannon took over. Cannons were transformed from a vase shaped tube to a long, iron barrel. To make the cannon balls more deadly, they were filled ... Difficult to maneuver and dependent on the wind, early sailing vessels were no match for galleys on calm steady waters. Once cannons were fitted to sailing ships, however, the smaller, more controllable galleys were unable to approach. The large guns could cause serious structural harm to ships. They functioned like the rams that were fitted onto galleys, but permitted the attacking ship to maintain some degree of distance. Cannons damaged the ropes and attacked the buoyancy of ships. Large cannonballs destroyed ships in the same way that they knocked down castle walls. Furthermore, cannonballs that impaled wooden ships showered the interior of the struck ship with dangerous splinters. Naval warfare was revolutionized after the introduction of the ... Particularly, compulsory licensing provisions in India have been under criticism regarding compliance with international treaties. The Indian Patent Act does not confine the grounds to public health needs only. The grounds and types of compulsory license under the Indian Patent Act are listed in Table 3 succinctly. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to adjust high prices brought by granting exclusivity to IPR owners, some countries assert that using local working requirements as a means to the end. Labeling this rationale as protectionism, Cottier et al. argue that there are still other useful means to achieve the same end, such as increasing foreign direct investment (FDI) or reverse engineering. The positive relationship between FDI and IPR protection has long been argued, while the latitude for competitors to reverse engineer is decreasing owing to the higher harmonization pressure from IPR maximalist countries. Conversely, the quality of human resources and business environmental soundness maybe has more influence on FDI. Professor Ragavan points out with discernment that countries having increasing FDI are actually the countries recognized to have disreputable fame in IPR protection once before, such as China and ... It is now clear that males are the dominant figures in our society. Norms in society do not just come randomly to one s life; they start since a child is born. When a child is born the first question asked by the parents, family, and friends is the gender of the child, whether it is a girl or a boy. A Brief Note On The Peak Community Partners More than 16 million children, or roughly one in five, were living in poverty in 2011, according to the U.S. Census Bureau s official poverty measure (pdf). That is higher than any other age group. Poverty to such a degree prohibits parents the ability to provide their children with any extra luxuries outside of the conventional education.
