The Recession Of The United States
I. Introduction
Ever since World War II the United States has experienced many recessions. There have been many
terrible recessions that have hit this great country hard. What is a recession people may wonder? A
recession is a significant decline in activity across the economy, lasting longer than a few months. It is
visible in industrial production, employment, real income and wholesale retail trade. The technical
indicator of a recession is two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth as measured by a
country s gross domestic product (GDP). Although, the recession of 2001 wasn t a dramatic and
horrible recession, it was the end of the longest expansion our country had seen since WWII. The
expansion following the recession of 1991 was 10 years up until this recession of 2001. Furthermore,
this recession was difficult and was hard to deal with and overcome, because during the time of this
recession our country experienced 9/11.
II. Causes of the Recession
After the longest economic expansion in history, the U.S. experienced a recession in 2001. The
Recession of 2001 was relatively short, but still had its impact upon us Americans. Just like many of
the previous recessions our great country has faced, this one had many reasons as to why we fell into a
recession as well. Some of the reasons we experienced a recession in 2001 is, because of the collapse
of the dotcom bubble, the attack on 9/11, and a series of accounting attacks at major U.S Corporations.

Jerkins Key Ideas
The key ideas my essay will cover will consist of a few of Jerkins problems he encountered. First,
wanting to explore new ideas, processes, sounds, etc. and being only called or asked for what you
have already done that people hear on the charts. Jerkins talked about having and developing the
ability to take something that is old and turn it into something brand new. Which is so useful in life
whether it be in our homes, on our jobs or in relationships the concept is a very valuable one which is
essential to success, especially in this new fast paced evolving world we all now live in. Second, being
excepted as an R B producer while being born into a Christian family, including a father who was a
Pastor and mother who was a choir director. Jerkins

The Four Views On Salvation Readers
SUMMARY OF THE BOOK In the four views on salvation readers are presented by major advocates
of the following views: pluralist by John Hick, inclusivist by Clark Pinnock, particularist by Alister
McGrath, and evidentialist by R. Douglas Geivett and W. Gary Phillips. The primary contention of the
book is about if Jesus is the only Savior? And if that is true, then what happens with those who profess
faith and salvation outside of Jesus Christ. The Four Views of Salvation are a single volume that
introduced the reader to the basic positions within evangelicalism The editors stated that the term
pluralism favors many religions with salvific norms, inclusivism relates to salvation in every cultural
norm, and exclusivism and the restrictivism have a prejudicial connotation and prevent true dialogue
and argument. Therefore they proposed the term particularism be used instead; however, all four
contributors to the book used the term of their personal preference or the term that they felt best
advanced their viewpoint. The primary questions are: Where is salvation found? What happens to
sincere people of other faiths? What about those who never hear the gospel? The idea for the book
arose out of the 1992 Wheaton Theology Conference that brought evangelicals together to discuss the
challenges of pluralism and inclusivism. Religious pluralism is the greatest challenge facing
Christianity in our culture, Dennis L. Okholm and Timothy R. Phillips assembled the writings of five

Essay Gentlemen, Your Verdict
Gentlemen, Your Verdict
Michael Bruce
1. From what perspective is the story told? (1 mark)
This story is told in limited omniscient third person perspective. This is because the narrating voice
enters the minds of most characters, excluding the radio telephone scenes. You can only hear
Lieutenant Commander Oram s voice, not the character on the other end of the radio.
2. Through which literary device does Michael Bruce tell his story? (1 mark) The literary device used
was flashback with a cliff hanger ending. Michael Bruce started the setting in a courtroom, where the
five surviving characters recalled the details of the past event. This is where the flashback took place
to present the actual event. Once we see the events ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

5. Identify a conflict within the short story. (1 mark)
I believe the conflict in Gentlemen, Your Verdict, is human against self.
B) State whether it is internal or external. (1 mark)
The conflict in this story is internal struggle concerning emotion and decision.
6. In your own words, explain the term moral dilemma. (1 mark)
Moral Dilemma to me, means having to make an ethical decision between what is considered right
and what is considered wrong.
B) What is Lieutenant Commander Oram s moral dilemma? (1 mark)
Lieutenant Commander Oram s moral dilemma is deciding whether or not to kill fifteen of his men, so
five with families can live, as there is not enough oxygen for all twenty to survive until help arrives.
7. How does the author create a sense of urgency in his writing? (2 marks)
The author creates a sense of urgency through his ability to place the reader into the Lieutenant s point
of view during the accident. The Lieutenant is taking quick action, yet the reader is unclear what the
true nature of the danger is. The situation gets seemingly worse as the story goes on until finally a
gruesome resolution is found.

Music From Its Lyrics, Beats, And The Artist
Music from its lyrics, beats, and the artist itself has an ambiguous connection the color of the skin of
its listeners. For years, music was an alternative form of segregation and even corruption. Although
Music has been around for centuries, the development and origin of certain genres are still being a
challenge. During the time of segregation and integration times were tough It took both races a while
to adjust to the abundant change of equality for all. One of the tools that helped ease this transition
was music. Music had the strong ability to touch all types of people, of all ages of all skin tones.
Musicians like Chuck Berry the Famous group The Beatles was able to bring young white teens and

was considered to have a well up bring. This upbringing, time period, and, of course, his skin altered
the way he views music. Of course growing up listening to blues and, of course, experiencing the
hardship of racism and inequality the development of R B risen. Berry did, however, run into trouble
as a teenager he and his friends were arrested for multiple things. After being released, Berry realized
he lacked education and now had a prison record.. He slowly fell in love with music again;
furthermore, during the Mid 1900s Berry started a band. Berry revitalized the band and introduced
upbeat country numbers into the band s repertoire of jazz and pop music. Berry managed to achieve
crossover appeal with white youths without alienating his black fans by mixing blues and R B sounds
with storytelling that spoke to the universal themes of youth. In the late 1950s, songs such as Johnny
B. Goode, Sweet Little Sixteen and Carol all managed to crack the Top 10 of the pop charts by
achieving equal popularity with youths on both sides of the racial divide. I made records for people
who would buy them, Berry said. No color, no ethnic, no political I don t want that, never did. Berry

Human Capital And Its Impact On The Success Of The Company...
Companies consist of both intangible and tangible assets and each has an impact on the success of the
company. The tangible assets are things that you can physically see examples include buildings,
inventories, and equipment. Intangible assets are the asset that you can t see or tough like money,
intellectual property, patents, company reputation and human capital (Lev,2004). Human Capital
consist of employees and their skills and abilities. Human Capital is often considered a very valuable
asset within a company which must be protected. Company s must have a strong strategic recruitment
and compensation plan in order to maintain its human capital and stay competitive.
There are eleven competencies that most well managed companies have and if they fail in either of
them they lose their competitive advantage. The eleven competencies are talent, speed, shared mind
set and coherent brand identity, accountability, collaboration, learning, leadership, customer
connectivity, strategic unity, innovation, and efficiency (Ulrich, Smallwood, 2004). In a lot of
companies several of these competencies are a part of the employee performance review. Tying these
organizational competencies into the employee performance review process helps to ensure that the
organization is successful.
Talent is one of the competencies that can be seen in a successful organization therefore a company
must have a strategic talent management plan that includes recruiting and compensation

Should Premarital Agreements Be Treated the Same as...
Should Premarital Agreements be Treated the Same as Contracts? Contract law is relatively consistent
regarding whether a contract was actually made and whether the parties involved can be legally held
to the contract or not. This is primarily due to the fact that contract law proceeds from law handed
down from centuries of civil and common law cases. Basically, two parties have to agree to the terms
of the cited contract, after the offer is made and accepted (both parties have had time to review and
make changes to the contract, although this process does not always occur), and they have either
orally agreed or signed some form of written contract. It can be argued in a court afterword that there
was not sufficient consideration or that one party coerced the other into an agreement, but these are
usually handled at the signing of the contract. This process is time honored and, as said, has been in
place for a long time. But, new types of contracts occur at times and they have a different sort of
accounting by the courts. One of these types of contracts is that generally called prenuptial,
antenuptial or premarital (Standler, 2009). This paper looks at prenuptial agreements and using the
case of Simeone v. Simeone tries to determine some of the pros and cons of treating these agreements
more like regular contracts. Simeone v. Simeone was a divorce court case brought by Catherine E
Walsh Simeone against Frederick A. Simeone (Simeone v. Simeone, 1990). The issue was

Child Corruption And Child Trafficking
With money running the world, it is not unexpected that corruption and child trafficking are entwined
at the most rudimentary level. Often, money is the driving factor of most forms of child trafficking,
whether it is a result of the victim desperately seeking out employment to support themselves and their
family or the perpetrator utilizes their financial control over the victim to retain their product.
Unfortunately, due to their very nature, children are considered some of the most vulnerable and
sought after targets for traffickers. In a 2005 International Labor Organization report, there is an
estimated that 980,000 to 1,225,000 children both boys and girls are in a forced labor situation as a
result of trafficking across the world. In response to this pandemic, actions have been attempted by
both international organizations ( IO ) (United Nations ( U.N. ), Interpol, Non Government
Organizations ( NGO ), etc...) and state actors to reduce and prevent child trafficking. Such actions
included adopting international treaties, such as the Convention Against Corruption ( CAC ) and
Convention of the Rights of the Child ( CRC ), to address the social, economic, and cultural factors
that contributed to corruption and child trafficking. From there, many nations states established
domestic legislation by either directly or indirectly adopting provisions in the international treaties to
provide a means to criminalize the immoral perpetrators and protect the victims of

Evil In Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde
Questioned for years has been the idea that man is born evil.. It has also been brought up in
discussions about Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Was Hyde evil because of the potion or was his other
persona, Jekyll, evil from birth and that came out through Hyde? This argument will never go away,
but the answer is out there. Evil strengthens over time but it is within everyone as soon as they take
their first breath of life. The Bible says that even from birth the wicked go astray; from the womb they
are wayward, spreading lies (New International Version, Psalm 58.3). The writer of this Psalm is
saying that people stray away from what is right as soon as they are born. That is a hard concept for
many to understand. How can an innocent child be evil right as they are born? When Eve ate the
forbidden fruit that God said not to eat, she committed the first sin. Every person to be born is now
cursed with sin because of Eve and Adam. Eve was not alone when she ate the forbidden fruit. Satan
was there and he had tempted her by questioning God. Billy Graham ... Show more content on

from his friendly self of Dr. Jekyll to his evil self of Mr. Hyde. But the real question is, was Mr. Hyde

Bruno Discrimination Quotes
Bruno is Oblivious towards Discrimination
Bruno is mainly oblivious towards discrimination but at times he is able to identify injustice. Bruno is
innocent towards the discrimination towards Jews, and he is shielded by his parents, but at times he is
able to identify injustice. Bruno wants to crawl under the fence so he and Shmuel can play together .
This demonstrates his innocence. However, when Kotler beat up Pavel, Bruno watched and it made
him cry . This shows how Bruno can make out that Kotler is doing wrong, but doesn t exactly
understand that it is discrimination.
Bruno is totally unaware towards the discrimination of Jews. This can be seen in many events. Like
when Bruno called the Jews the pyjama people . Bruno thought the Jews wore striped pyjamas just
because they want to, but actually the striped pyjamas are the uniforms that the Jews are forced to
wear. He also doesn t realise that they are in a concentration camp. This is shown when Bruno wants
to play on the other side of the fence . This demonstrates his innocence because he doesn t realise that
is he goes on the other side, he could put himself in serious danger. Throughout the whole novel,
Bruno doesn t realise that the Jews are treated harshly, proving that he is oblivious towards
discrimination. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Invisible Ceiling: The Effects of Gender on Hiring Practices in Business
While gender inequality in business has improved over the years, there are still many encounters in the
workplace in which women are discriminated against based solely on the fact that they are female. If
you go back a few decades, when the iconic figure Rosie the Riveter was famous for it s legendary
propaganda campaign. Rosie delivered a message around the nation that targeted women employed to
take traditional male dominated roles such as miners, railroad worker, lumber and steel mill workers,
and other male dominated industries. The message was that women should be empowered in the work

Another important event that was later passed was the Equal Rights amendment on March 22, 1972.
This amendment was first proposed to the national women s society in 1923. This amendment was

rights of law under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state of

This makes me think she has no one to talk to and that her father is just there. Why doesn t she count
her father as family? The image makes it look like her father is not emotionally connected to her and
she need more love in her life. The reason why I can connect and relate to the book is because I only
have a mother. I grew up in a single parent household. My father pasted away when I was Twelve
years old. I didn t even know my father that well even in those Twelve years. I can relate with Opal
not being able to recall anything about a parent. My mother doesn t talk about my father so it is hard
to know things and to know what and how she is thinking. Opal can relate to this because her father
doesn t talk much about her mother either. Whenever my mother does say something I will keep it in

Women s Rights
Discrimination against women has been a phenomenon for centuries, lack of women s rights and
equality is a long overdue issue that needs to be abolished. The need to make a concrete connection
between human rights and women s rights is ironic considering that one half of the global population
is female (Hawkins 1). Gender inequality is the pressing current human rights issue, including
disparities in education, employment, healthcare, power and decision making, violence, and poverty
that impacts billions of women and girls from every part of the world throughout their lifetime (UN
Statistical Division, 2010; UN Women, 2011a). The United Nations has extended efforts for growing
global rights effort to compensated the deeply rooted gender inequality (Hawkins 1). This paper
addresses gender based inequality and current global human rights initiatives focused on women, and
action taken by women and human rights defenders (Hawkins 1). While human rights violations can
affect all groups, including women (1), women s issues are not the same as gender issues, although the
terms are often used interchangeably (1). In its annual report, the UN Population Fund note that
gender inequality works to the disadvantages of both women and men through impeding the growth of
individuals, the development of countries, and the evolution of societies (UN Statistical Division,
2010, UN Women, 2000). Women s

of norms, values, individual, groups and the cultural system itself. Criminal or delinquent subcultures
indicate systems of norms, values, or interest that support criminal or delinquent behavior. That s why

In contract to accounts of the origins of Western European youth cultures, Ko lin Chin traces the
development of Chinese youth delinquents in the United States to ancient secret society traditions, and
to the more recent Triad societies that formed in the late seventeenth century in China ( 1996). The
violence and crime among the Chinese youth in the U.S did not increase dramatically until
immigration laws permitted more. While the origins of delinquent subcultures may reside in ancient
times, the formation can be explained in macro level. All macro level theories make certain
assumptions about the individual level of explanation. By documenting the ongoing relationship and
actions of an individual or group, one can analyze the process of macro levels of explanation.
According to differential association theory, interactions with other and social structural context are
important because they shape the learning of violent definitions, which in turn affects the like hood
that youths engage in violent delinquency (Hawkins 1998). Delinquents behave violently because they
want to win acceptance by older criminals.

Strengths In Mark Bowden s Black Hawk Down
Violence, death, profanity. Usually a book containing these subjects, along with many other disturbing
aspects, would not be recommended for teenagers to read. However, looking past all of those details,
Black Hawk Down actually has valuable lessons within it. The author, Mark Bowden, writes about the
Battle Of Mogadishu that occurred from December 1992 to October 1993, and includes useful
information within his novel. He focuses on the truth about war, weaknesses and strengths within it,
and also lessons that can be learned from these subjects. The subject of war is often romanticized.

There are quite a few positive characteristics within the troops as well that make up for the mistakes
they may have made. One main one is that they always have each others backs. The Deltas look after
the Rangers, and act as their role models. It was as if the Rangers saw the D Boys as their big brothers,
and since their big brothers were around, everything would be okay (Bowden 234). This shows the
bond between the troops, and adds emotion to the novel. Another characteristic is that the older
soldiers try to be positive throughout the war, even if situations got tough. Smith was now asking the
medic to tell his parents and family good bye . . . Hold on tight, Schmid told the dying corporal. We re
working on getting you out of here (Bowden 238). There are also some points within the novel that
show soldiers making jokes about their situation, instead of letting it bring them down and get the best
of them. The final trait is that even throughout all of the horrors the two teams went through during
the war, they still did their best and pushed through until it was finally over. There s no doubt that the
perception people have of this episode is that it was a total fiasco. Bowden says. But this was a
successfully completed mission. And in the eyes of the military men involved, it s a mission they re
very proud of (EDIT). So even though these teams saw, heard, and participated in horrifying events, in

Struggle for Equal Work Essay
Struggle for Equal Work
The development of the Lowell Mills in the 1820s provided American women with their first
opportunity to work outside the home with reasonable wages and relatively safe work. About ten years
later however, working in the mills wasn t the same. Working conditions became more vigorous, the
mills were unsafe and the pay received didn t match the amount of work done.
The Lowell family s textile mills were set up to attract the unmarried daughters of farm families,
hoping that they would work a few years before getting married. These young women were called
Lowell Mill Girls. A typical working day in the mills started with a factory bell ringing at about four
in the morning to wake up employees. After this, employees ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Conditions in the mills during the 1830s were terrible. Lighting was a problem in the mills causing the
workers to strain their eyes to see what they were doing. This was to make sure they were working
productively and to avoid injuries from tools or machinery. Comfort wasn t something women were
used to while working in the mills, especially in the boarding houses where they stayed.
Unmarried women who worked in the Lowell mills lived in boarding houses within the area. A widow
was usually the supervisor in these places and was responsible for the moral and physical well being
of the girls. The women were required to pay about a dollar a week to live there and the money was
taken directly out of their paychecks. About 30 women lived in the boarding houses with about six
living in each room. The rooms, which had three beds, were poorly ventilated, overcrowded, lacked
privacy and infested with rats and roaches.
A 1930s mill worker said, In vain do I try to soar in fancy and imagination above the dull reality
around me but beyond the roof of the factory I cannot rise. Women today would not stand for these
conditions. We live in a world today where women hold just the same jobs as men. Work such as in
the textile industry wouldn t be a popular job to fill since there are so many opportunities today.
Women are still struggling for equal pay in some situations, but overall, working

The Wage Gap, Worker Discrimination And Varying...
In terms of attributing to the wage gap, worker discrimination and varying preferences occurs largely
based on views surrounding what jobs are male or female dominated. Although worker discrimination
and wage discrepancies are a reality in Brazil, the labor market conditions for women are becoming
better over time. Despite gender segregation in the labor market, the wages of women are sometimes
evenly or positively affected. For instance, For industries and occupations where women receive
higher remuneration than men, we observe that women have higher education levels, indicating that
their higher remuneration is due to individual characteristics (Madalozzo 165). Even though a positive
correlation has been observed regarding women s education level and wage, in general, men still
benefit more based on their individual characteristics, which is why they are generally paid more.
According to Madalozzo, This difference in pay is decreasing but was still a significant 15.4 percent,
on average, in 2007, and ...the present study improves the quantification of this wage gap, showing
that the trend of a decreasing gap remains, but is losing pace overtime (165 66). In order to combat the
presence of the wage gap, policies regarding bettering women s education and incentivizing women to
enter the labor market should be implemented because the current system discourages women to enter
the market. According to Galor and Weil, ...increasing women s relative wages reduces fertility by

important aspect of this form of insurance, which makes it possible for individuals of many different

is that the amount of insurance that is paid to the insured in the event of accidental death is
independent of the payments that the individual receives from other coverage that he or she may have.
Also, an accidental death policy has limitations that are typically not included with a standard life

such as three months after an accident to receive benefits. Another limitation is that if death occurs, it
must have been the result of the injuries that were suffered in an accident. Accidental death policies

Managing Resistance to Organizational Change Essay
In the course of considering and implementing change, the need frequently arises for effective
application of the approaches and tools for managing resistance to change (Palmer, Dunford, Akin,
2009). Change often fails from ineffective management of the internal and external forces of
resistance opposing change (Kotter Schlesinger, 2008; Oreg, 2003; Palmer et al., 2009). In response,
this paper discusses the approaches (tools) deemed most essential for managing resistance to change
relative to the scope of the situational contexts in which they might be applied. The discussion centers
on considerations for the multidimensional conceptualizations of resistance that are often ignored in
evaluating alternatives for taking action. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Piderit (2000), each of these components contributes to an individual s disposition to
resist or support change, which can range along a continuum from strong opposition to ambivalence to
strong support. Oreg (2003) characterizes behavioral responses to change in terms of the perceived
degrees of fairness of both change outcomes (distributive justice) and the change process (procedural
justice), as mediated by differences in personality traits and contextual elements such as self efficacy,
tolerance for change, and social influence. Further conceptualizations of the multidimensional nature

which is grounded in theories related to regulatory focus (Higgins, 2002) and self determination (Deci

Mark Zuckerberg Lawsuit
Did you know that Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Facebook, a social network designed to
help people connect worldwide, faced a big lawsuit due to the creation of Facebook? While a lot of
you may have seen The Social Network, a movie made in 2010 showcasing the creation and lawsuit
Facebook went through, there is much more to Facebook than you may think. Dropping out of college
to pursue a company that isn t guaranteed to help you build a career is quite the risk, but in rare cases,
it can pay off, just as Facebook did for Zuckerberg. With each growing company, risks must be taken
in order to advance, this is exactly what Zuckerberg does, and he does it well.
In 2004 Mark Zuckerberg decided to build a social networking site, one that would connect Harvard
student to each other using their Harvard email. Under the name TheFaceBook, Zuckerberg achieved
this goal and the social media network was founded. Just a week after he launched the site in 2004,
Mark was accused by three Harvard seniors of having stolen the idea from them (Nicholas Carlson,
2010). The three Harvard students; Tyler Winklevoss, Cameron Winklevoss, and Divya Narendra later
proceeded to accuse Mark Zuckerberg of stealing their idea. This accusation turned into a full fledged
lawsuit, which lead to the biggest obstacle Zuckerberg had to overcome to make Facebook what it is
today.
Zuckerberg took this lawsuit on head first, showing no fear, by that I mean he seems to have
outsmarted the Winklevoss

Strategies And Challenges In The Case Of Cloud Communications
In deploying the use of IT in an agency there will be challenges which will be encountered, in the case
where the federal agency could be moving to a cloud, it may not be welcomed by most employees of
the federal agencies. It was the case of City of Pittsburgh, they had some strict limitation and
challenges in the deployment of their new IT project involving the use of the Cloud. They did some
analysis on the Internal and External Environment. Some specific challenges they were faced include;
I. Weak Technical Skills At City of Pittsburgh, the IT department employees who had significant work
experience in technology are the ones who are not competent in IT, they had the weakest technical
skills. The experienced IT employees have not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
V. Relying on Consultants and Vendors This is an External Environment Challenge which can be
faced by a Federal Government agency, few organizations develop or maintain the in house
capabilities they need to complete complex IT projects. Risk averse managers want people who
possess crucial IT knowledge and skills. Often that skill set can be attained only from previous
experience on similar IT projects . (Pearlson, Saunders Galleta, p 250), City of Pittsburg will be
relying heavily on consultants due to the fact that the in house IT department does not have the
knowledge and skills needed for the email services they are about to deploy for their use.
It is very key City of Pittsburg s CIO to look at these specific challenges so the migration can be
smooth, seamless and accepted by the employees in the agency. The migration into the cloud service
was an option they took and being a Government agency, using a Cloud service provider that will host

Qualities of an Archetypal Hero Essay
Heroes are seen all around us, in life, literature, and movies. Heroes like Superman, Captain America,
and Thor are common, but have you ever thought of Luke Skywalker as an archetypal hero? Luke
Skywalker is an aspiring young Jedi Knight, who is called to the quest of defeating the empire in the
movie Star Wars IV: A New Hope, written and directed by George Lucas. Luke Skywalker
demonstrates certain characteristics before, during, and after his quest that makes him an archetypal
hero.
An archetypal hero must have specific characteristics before embarking on a quest. For example many

Use the force Luke is a phrase commonly said to Luke Skywalker by his mentor. This super natural
force is crucial to Luke s success and the completion of his quest.
Once the world has been restored and the hero has completed and succeeded in his quest a
transformation occurs along with a series of events. One archetypal hero event is an award presented
to the hero for their cunning abilities and bravery. Luke Skywalker along with Han Solo receive
medals of Honor to demonstrate their bravery, and skill at a ceremony fit for the greatest archetypal
hero. This medal symbolizes more for Luke Skywalker as it demonstrates the change that has occurred
within him. The characteristics of a hero archetype changes before and after his/her quest as they
become more mature. Although Luke Skywalker dose not physically demonstrate a change, it is seen
in him during the award ceremony. His facial expressions, clothing, posture, even hair style
demonstrates a wiser more mature Luke Skywalker then the one seen at the beginning of the film.
Before, after, and during an archetypal hero s quest he/she must demonstrate certain characteristics
much like the ones Luke Skywalker expressed. These characteristics are seen over and over again in
several Medias, for example like Luke Skywalker, Spiderman s parents are killed at birth and he goes
and lives with his aunt and uncle. Another example of

prepare the scenario to analyze the solution for the presence of Pb2+, Hg22+, and Ag+ ions. Start by
labelling the test tubes from 1 8. Then, use the tube 1 and add 10 drops of 10 cation solutions (note:
the unknown solution must be in the tube 8). Next, add 8 drops of 6 M HCl and mix it, using a stirring
rod. After adding, check if the solution formed a white precipitate. If yes, then the solution contains
one or some of these ions Pb2+, Hg22+, and Ag+. Furthermore, put the test Tube 1 into the centrifuge
and add one more drop of 6 M HCl (note: in this step no precipitate should be formed). After
centrifuging the content of the test Tube 1, transfer the supernatant it to the test Tube 4. Moreover, add
distilled water into the test Tube 1, mix it, centrifuge and dispose it into a waste beaker. Next, add
1mL of distilled water into the precipitate to test for Pb2+ ions. Put the test Tube 1 into the hot water
bath, and wait for about 3 minutes. Set up the test Tube 2, and pour the supernatant originated from
the centrifugation of the hot liquid. Then, add 5 drops of 6 M H2SO4 into the test tube 2. To test for

The Nature Of Auditors Professional Scepticism
Introduction
Professional scepticism (PS) is critically important to the way in which auditing is conducted. It is also
an essential component of a qualified auditor. The prior literature (Hurtt et al, 2013) argued that PS
can be influenced by various factors, which arises the question regarding how PS should be positively
perceived and effectively conducted in practices. Professional scepticism is defined as an attitude
combined with a questioning mindset and a critical way of thinking towards auditing practices
(Nelson, 2009). However, there is a divergence among practitioners and academia of how PS should
be perceived and practiced. Neutral approach was suggested by early auditing standards while
presumptive doubt is growing under ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also widely asserted that skeptical mindset is critical to performing a rigorous and prudent
auditing with due professional care (Holm and Zaman, 2012). In addition, the extent to which PS
should be applied is vital for an auditor since it impacts both the accuracy and efficiency. Having too
little of it will bias the accuracy while too much will lead to extra human effort and cost. The effective
balance between risk and efficiency is the essence. In practice, there should be a limit on the level of
details an auditor can possibly reach and on the extent the auditing should be conducted to.
Neutrality is the essence of unbiased scepticism. According to CICA handbook (2003), an auditor is
required to perform with a questioning attitude, having in mind that there may be the existence of
financial misstatement. It also indicated that being skeptical requires critical thinking upon evidence
obtained through the auditing process, and is alert for questionable documents regarding the entity
representations. However, it does not mean an auditor should be obsessively suspicious about
anything. Instead, it is suggested to have the capability to reach the balance without speculated
dishonesty or unquestioned trust. An objective evaluation should always be guaranteed, and a neutral
auditor should always present a suspension of judgement until having evidence or proving the
otherwise.
The above perspectives were supported by various literatures. One

Summary Of Sir Thomas Malory s Le Morte Darthur
In the novel Le Morte Darthur: The Winchester Manuscript, the author, Sir Thomas Malory, presents
the reader with many diverse antagonists, one of whom is Sir Tarquin. Through Sir Tarquin s remarks
and conduct, Malory portrays Sir Tarquin as a malicious villain who despises one specific character,
Sir Lancelot Du Lake. The built up anger and revulsion Sir Tarquin feels towards Sir Lancelot results
in Sir Tarquin becoming one of the most dexterous and malicious knights in all of Christendom. He
becomes such by searching out, challenging, and defeating many knights of the Round Table.
The reader can ask, What is the motive behind Sir Tarquin s quest? Before Sir Lancelot and Sir
Tarquin duel, Malory leaves this question open for the reader to make their own conclusion. As this
episode progresses, the reader finally receives a clue as Sir Lancelot and Sir Tarquin exchange
dialogue for the first time. Sir Lancelot makes it known he is a member of the Round Table and has
come to save his fellow knights in distress. Sir Tarquin responds, And thou be of the Round Table, I
defy thee and all thy fellowship (Mallory 105). Throughout the years, Sir Tarquin has targeted many
knights who are of the fellowship of the Round Table. He has a burning hatred towards the King s
knights and he willfully rebels and challenges those who are members of the said company. With these
words, Sir Tarquin clearly shows he is an enemy to the representatives of King Arthur s court. His

Astrology Of Alchemy
Originating in ancient Egypt, Alchemy is one of the two oldest sciences that are known in the world,
besides astrology. It can be described as a process in which we shift from our essential state of
unconsciousness, go through plenty alchemical stages portrayed by our most elemental experiences, to
the understanding of full awakening, or enlightenment. Alchemy is a an operation that goes around
from cycle to cycle, repeating over and over again to transform and alter us through the experiences of
our body, soul, and spirit. In alchemical terminology, this is called the Opus, or Great Work. The larger

Western Alchemy goes all the way back to the start of the Hellenistic period which lasted between 300
BC 300 AD. One of the earliest, legit alchemists is Zosimos of Panopolis in Egypt, who lived around
the end of the period. Zosimos provided us with one of the first definitions of alchemy as the study of
the composition of waters, movement, growth, embodying and disembodying, drawing the spirits from
the bodies and bonding the spirits within the bodies. (Mendeleyev s Dream the Quest for Elements).
Born in Akhmim,Egypt, Zosimos is one of the 40 authors represented in a compendium of alchemical
texts that were thought to be put together in Constantinople around the 7th or 8th century AD. They
were found existing in manuscripts in Venice and Paris. The latest author, Synesius, lived in

The Center for Urban Sustainable Planning (CUSP) was established in 1996 as a United States 501(c)
(3) non profit organization intended to educate city planners and government officials on sustainable
urban planning programs for low to mid range developing countries and assist them in developing
urban systems that serve industry, tourism, and provide opportunities for the urban poor. Our areas of

The CUSP mission is to ensure that city planners, government officials, transnational corporations,
and the international community engages in urban planning activities to build better cities that serve
their entire population in environmental and economically sustainable ways.
We are aware that with increasing migration to urban centers by both professionals seeking work, as

stakeholders and decision makers in the area of providing adequate housing, infrastructure, and
services that reach the poor and lower middle class residents, while also providing infrastructure that

Essay about Challenges Faced by Immigrants
Challenges Faced by Immigrants
The changing environments throughout the ages have caused the movement of thousands of families
out of their homelands. Whether forced to make such decisions or doing so by their own desires, all
immigrants have had to survive the physical and psychological challenges encountered along the way.
To speak about the experiences of all these different people using the same ideas and examples would
be quite inaccurate. They all, however, had to live through similar situations and deal with similar
problems. Many of them succeeded and found the better future they were looking for. Many others
found only hardship and experienced the destruction of their hopes and dreams. All of them were
transformed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many immigrants feel the same way about the things they leave. I know I did when I left my home
country of Bulgaria. My parents were hoping to provide my brother and me with a brighter future by
moving to the US, the country where anything is possible, or so everyone said. It was 1998 and I was
thirteen. I still remember the day we left and how hard it was for my whole family. Through tears, I
said goodbye to all my relatives and friends whom I cherished and loved. I felt as if the whole world
was closing up in me. I was being taken away from everything I knew and everything I loved. The
cool breeze of that autumn day rushed through me as if foreshadowing a hard and cold future. The
moment came for us to get on the plane. I wanted to stop time and run away, back to everything I
knew. But that was impossible; the choice of turning back did not exist. As I was going up the stairs of
the plane, I looked around at the airport and its surroundings. I looked and saw the warmth and light of
the familiar places. I took a deep breath of the air around me, knowing it was the last time I could
sense it, and went in. It really was hard for

Research conducted by Miller et al. (2013) expands upon this hypothesis by assessing the risk factors

suggest that all military personnel who suffer from a mild cranial injury are at a significant risk of
developing a substance use disorder. Similarly, to the research conducted by Wagner et al., (2007),
alcohol was the number one substance in which military members overindulged. Researchers assert
that although physical symptoms heal rather quickly, the psychological sequelae will span a lifetime.

In an effort to determine the impact of social support during a deployment, a study conducted by
Delahij, Kamphuis and Van Den Berg (2016) conducts a comparative analysis of how family support
promotes self efficacy. Traditionally, family is one categorical layer of support, when in reality it is
multifaceted. For this experiment, researchers focused on the perceived level of support from a service
member s family. Participants for this experimentation were North Atlantic Treaty Organization
military personnel providing direct support to the International Security Assistance Force. Service
members would document at the end of each month of their deployment the interactions with their
family members. Measuring actual support would be difficult due to the variety of communications
methods utilized in today society; therefore, researchers focused on the perception of support.
Furthermore, an individual who is in constant communication with their family may not feel as
supported than an individual with sporadic interactions may; thus, social support is subjective.
Measurements ranged across a continuum starting with service members who felt no support to
unwavering support. An additional goal of researchers was to measure the context of conversations
based on the service member s interpretation. For

Essay On Roe Vs Wade
Roe v. Wade Roe v. Wade was a Supreme Court ruling made in 1973 about the legality of abortion.
The essential ruling in the case was the women could legally have an abortion through the first
trimester of their pregnancy and that, after that, abortions could be regulated by the state. The case was
fought by Roe, an unmarried, pregnant women who argued that the ban on abortion went against her
rights and privacy This decision was a landmark one in the Supreme Court due because it ruled
abortion as legal, which had never been done before. The Fourteenth Amendment, specifically the due
process clause, was the piece of legislation cited in the ruling of this case. This decision is also
important because it is still referenced nowadays.

decision in which the Supreme Court upheld legislation from Missouri that prevented an publically
funded establishments for abortion, even if none of the funds used for the abortions were public, and
prevented public from performing abortions on women whose lives weren t in danger among other
things. This decision was important because, although it did not completely overturn the Roe v. Wade
decision of several years back, it did severely limits the protections on abortion that had been put in

Every year, thousands of adults that were incarcerated leave the nation s jails and prisons only to

Schools like Goucher College here in Maryland or Adams University have partnerships with prisons
and allow inmates to register for programs to obtain a degree, or certification. Before I speak on the
benefits of educational programs let me first define it. Education is one to obtain knowledge through
learning. Since I can relate to this topic on a personal level, I found that education in the prison system
comes in various forms, such as academic, vocational, drug alcohol treatment, self help/support
groups, mental/sexual/physical health classes, college courses, and employment training.
The Department of Corrections did a study from 1991 2002 that states and average of more than 50%
of all inmates who are in the prison system did not have a high school diploma or G.E.D. Also about
75% of inmates had no vocational or collegiate education. Another important statistic is that the
recidivism rate of inmates without their G.E.D. or diploma was at an alarming 65% 75%. These now

Medical Ethics Of The Doctor Patient Relationship
You may not control life s circumstances, but getting to be the author of your life means getting to
control what you do with them (Atul Gawande). This quote, from renowned surgeon and essayist, Atul
Gawande, expresses an important idea in medical ethics: patients possess a certain level of autonomy
in the doctor patient relationship, and this autonomy needs to be respected by medical professionals.
Ethically speaking, physicians owe their patients full disclosure about their diagnoses, treatment
options, and any potential medical risks. Patients have the inherent right to know all aspects of their
illness or malady, and it is not up to physicians to decide which information should be withheld from
patients. Withholding information from patients breaks down any trust that may have existed within
the physician patient relationship, and thus leads to an overall patient dissatisfaction towards the
healthcare system.
In any patient physician relationship, one of the most essential components is the element of trust. One
patient remarks on the importance of trust by saying, We trust them not to use that expertise to exploit
our vulnerability for their own interests...and we trust them to empower and enable us to place their
recommendations into the full context of our own hierarchy of values (Pellegrino, Thomasma 1993).

model of a doctor patient relationship doctors provide

  • 2. The Recession Of The United States I. Introduction Ever since World War II the United States has experienced many recessions. There have been many terrible recessions that have hit this great country hard. What is a recession people may wonder? A recession is a significant decline in activity across the economy, lasting longer than a few months. It is visible in industrial production, employment, real income and wholesale retail trade. The technical indicator of a recession is two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth as measured by a country s gross domestic product (GDP). Although, the recession of 2001 wasn t a dramatic and horrible recession, it was the end of the longest expansion our country had seen since WWII. The expansion following the recession of 1991 was 10 years up until this recession of 2001. Furthermore, this recession was difficult and was hard to deal with and overcome, because during the time of this recession our country experienced 9/11. II. Causes of the Recession After the longest economic expansion in history, the U.S. experienced a recession in 2001. The Recession of 2001 was relatively short, but still had its impact upon us Americans. Just like many of the previous recessions our great country has faced, this one had many reasons as to why we fell into a recession as well. Some of the reasons we experienced a recession in 2001 is, because of the collapse of the dotcom bubble, the attack on 9/11, and a series of accounting attacks at major U.S Corporations. The ... • 5. The Four Views On Salvation Readers SUMMARY OF THE BOOK In the four views on salvation readers are presented by major advocates of the following views: pluralist by John Hick, inclusivist by Clark Pinnock, particularist by Alister McGrath, and evidentialist by R. Douglas Geivett and W. Gary Phillips. The primary contention of the book is about if Jesus is the only Savior? And if that is true, then what happens with those who profess faith and salvation outside of Jesus Christ. The Four Views of Salvation are a single volume that introduced the reader to the basic positions within evangelicalism The editors stated that the term pluralism favors many religions with salvific norms, inclusivism relates to salvation in every cultural norm, and exclusivism and the restrictivism have a prejudicial connotation and prevent true dialogue and argument. Therefore they proposed the term particularism be used instead; however, all four contributors to the book used the term of their personal preference or the term that they felt best advanced their viewpoint. The primary questions are: Where is salvation found? What happens to sincere people of other faiths? What about those who never hear the gospel? The idea for the book arose out of the 1992 Wheaton Theology Conference that brought evangelicals together to discuss the challenges of pluralism and inclusivism. Religious pluralism is the greatest challenge facing Christianity in our culture, Dennis L. Okholm and Timothy R. Phillips assembled the writings of five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For years, music was an alternative form of segregation and even corruption. Although Music has been around for centuries, the development and origin of certain genres are still being a challenge. During the time of segregation and integration times were tough It took both races a while to adjust to the abundant change of equality for all. One of the tools that helped ease this transition was music. Music had the strong ability to touch all types of people, of all ages of all skin tones. Of course growing up listening to blues and, of course, experiencing the hardship of racism and inequality the development of R B risen. Berry did, however, run into trouble as a teenager he and his friends were arrested for multiple things. After being released, Berry realized he lacked education and now had a prison record.. He slowly fell in love with music again; furthermore, during the Mid 1900s Berry started a band. Berry revitalized the band and introduced upbeat country numbers into the band s repertoire of jazz and pop music. Berry managed to achieve crossover appeal with white youths without alienating his black fans by mixing blues and R B sounds with storytelling that spoke to the universal themes of youth. In the late 1950s, songs such as Johnny B. Company s must have a strong strategic recruitment and compensation plan in order to maintain its human capital and stay competitive. There are eleven competencies that most well managed companies have and if they fail in either of them they lose their competitive advantage. The eleven competencies are talent, speed, shared mind set and coherent brand identity, accountability, collaboration, learning, leadership, customer connectivity, strategic unity, innovation, and efficiency (Ulrich, Smallwood, 2004). • 10. Should Premarital Agreements Be Treated the Same as... Should Premarital Agreements be Treated the Same as Contracts? Contract law is relatively consistent regarding whether a contract was actually made and whether the parties involved can be legally held to the contract or not. This is primarily due to the fact that contract law proceeds from law handed down from centuries of civil and common law cases. Basically, two parties have to agree to the terms of the cited contract, after the offer is made and accepted (both parties have had time to review and make changes to the contract, although this process does not always occur), and they have either orally agreed or signed some form of written contract. It can be argued in a court afterword that there was not sufficient consideration or that one party coerced the other into an agreement, but these are usually handled at the signing of the contract. This process is time honored and, as said, has been in place for a long time. But, new types of contracts occur at times and they have a different sort of accounting by the courts. One of these types of contracts is that generally called prenuptial, antenuptial or premarital (Standler, 2009). This paper looks at prenuptial agreements and using the case of Simeone v. Simeone tries to determine some of the pros and cons of treating these agreements more like regular contracts. Simeone v. Simeone was a divorce court case brought by Catherine E Walsh Simeone against Frederick A. Simeone (Simeone v. Simeone, 1990). The issue was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Child Corruption And Child Trafficking With money running the world, it is not unexpected that corruption and child trafficking are entwined at the most rudimentary level. Often, money is the driving factor of most forms of child trafficking, whether it is a result of the victim desperately seeking out employment to support themselves and their family or the perpetrator utilizes their financial control over the victim to retain their product. Unfortunately, due to their very nature, children are considered some of the most vulnerable and sought after targets for traffickers. In a 2005 International Labor Organization report, there is an estimated that 980,000 to 1,225,000 children both boys and girls are in a forced labor situation as a result of trafficking across the world. In response to this pandemic, actions have been attempted by both international organizations ( IO ) (United Nations ( U.N. ), Interpol, Non Government Organizations ( NGO ), etc...) and state actors to reduce and prevent child trafficking. Such actions included adopting international treaties, such as the Convention Against Corruption ( CAC ) and Convention of the Rights of the Child ( CRC ), to address the social, economic, and cultural factors that contributed to corruption and child trafficking. From there, many nations states established domestic legislation by either directly or indirectly adopting provisions in the international treaties to provide a means to criminalize the immoral perpetrators and protect the victims of ... • 12. Evil In Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde Questioned for years has been the idea that man is born evil.. It has also been brought up in discussions about Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Was Hyde evil because of the potion or was his other persona, Jekyll, evil from birth and that came out through Hyde? This argument will never go away, but the answer is out there. Evil strengthens over time but it is within everyone as soon as they take their first breath of life. The Bible says that even from birth the wicked go astray; from the womb they are wayward, spreading lies (New International Version, Psalm 58.3). The writer of this Psalm is saying that people stray away from what is right as soon as they are born. That is a hard concept for many to understand. How can an innocent child be evil right as they are born? When Eve ate the forbidden fruit that God said not to eat, she committed the first sin. Every person to be born is now cursed with sin because of Eve and Adam. Eve was not alone when she ate the forbidden fruit. Satan was there and he had tempted her by questioning God. Billy Graham ... Dictionary.com states that duplicity is deceitefulness in speech or conduct, as by speaking or acting in two different ways to different people concerning the same matter; double dealing . From a young age Jekyll felt the feeling of deceitfulness and evil. Later in the book he creates a potion that changes him from his friendly self of Dr. Jekyll to his evil self of Mr. Hyde. But the real question is, was Mr. Hyde the evil one or was Jekyll evil to begin with and it came out through Hyde? Some readers will never know and be always questioning, but the real answer is right in front of them. The answer is evil is within man at birth. In this case Jekyll s potion is like the abusive parent or harsh videogame of today. The potion pulled out the evil stored away in Jekyll s mind and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This shows how Bruno can make out that Kotler is doing wrong, but doesn t exactly understand that it is discrimination. Bruno is totally unaware towards the discrimination of Jews. This can be seen in many events. Like when Bruno called the Jews the pyjama people . Bruno thought the Jews wore striped pyjamas just because they want to, but actually the striped pyjamas are the uniforms that the Jews are forced to wear. • 16. Discrimination Against Women s Rights Alexandra Heck Contemp Perspectives Raju Parrakkal 13 October 2015 Women s Rights Discrimination against women has been a phenomenon for centuries, lack of women s rights and equality is a long overdue issue that needs to be abolished. The need to make a concrete connection between human rights and women s rights is ironic considering that one half of the global population is female (Hawkins 1). Gender inequality is the pressing current human rights issue, including disparities in education, employment, healthcare, power and decision making, violence, and poverty that impacts billions of women and girls from every part of the world throughout their lifetime (UN Statistical Division, 2010; UN Women, 2011a). The United Nations has extended efforts for growing global rights effort to compensated the deeply rooted gender inequality (Hawkins 1). This paper addresses gender based inequality and current global human rights initiatives focused on women, and action taken by women and human rights defenders (Hawkins 1). While human rights violations can affect all groups, including women (1), women s issues are not the same as gender issues, although the terms are often used interchangeably (1). In its annual report, the UN Population Fund note that gender inequality works to the disadvantages of both women and men through impeding the growth of individuals, the development of countries, and the evolution of societies (UN Statistical Division, 2010, UN Women, 2000). In terms of attributing to the wage gap, worker discrimination and varying preferences occurs largely based on views surrounding what jobs are male or female dominated. Although worker discrimination and wage discrepancies are a reality in Brazil, the labor market conditions for women are becoming better over time. Despite gender segregation in the labor market, the wages of women are sometimes evenly or positively affected. For instance, For industries and occupations where women receive higher remuneration than men, we observe that women have higher education levels, indicating that their higher remuneration is due to individual characteristics (Madalozzo 165). According to Piderit (2000), each of these components contributes to an individual s disposition to resist or support change, which can range along a continuum from strong opposition to ambivalence to strong support. Oreg (2003) characterizes behavioral responses to change in terms of the perceived degrees of fairness of both change outcomes (distributive justice) and the change process (procedural justice), as mediated by differences in personality traits and contextual elements such as self efficacy, tolerance for change, and social influence. Further conceptualizations of the multidimensional nature and scope of resistance are captured in goal regulation theory (Meyer, Becker, Vandenberghe, 2004), which is grounded in theories related to regulatory focus (Higgins, 2002) and self determination (Deci Ryan, 2008; Gagné Deci, 2005). It is also an essential component of a qualified auditor. The prior literature (Hurtt et al, 2013) argued that PS can be influenced by various factors, which arises the question regarding how PS should be positively perceived and effectively conducted in practices. Professional scepticism is defined as an attitude combined with a questioning mindset and a critical way of thinking towards auditing practices (Nelson, 2009). It is also widely asserted that skeptical mindset is critical to performing a rigorous and prudent auditing with due professional care (Holm and Zaman, 2012). In addition, the extent to which PS should be applied is vital for an auditor since it impacts both the accuracy and efficiency. Having too little of it will bias the accuracy while too much will lead to extra human effort and cost. The effective balance between risk and efficiency is the essence. In practice, there should be a limit on the level of details an auditor can possibly reach and on the extent the auditing should be conducted to. Neutrality is the essence of unbiased scepticism. According to CICA handbook (2003), an auditor is required to perform with a questioning attitude, having in mind that there may be the existence of financial misstatement. It also indicated that being skeptical requires critical thinking upon evidence obtained through the auditing process, and is alert for questionable documents regarding the entity representations. However, it does not mean an auditor should be obsessively suspicious about anything. Instead, it is suggested to have the capability to reach the balance without speculated dishonesty or unquestioned trust. • 33. Essay about Challenges Faced by Immigrants Challenges Faced by Immigrants The changing environments throughout the ages have caused the movement of thousands of families out of their homelands. Whether forced to make such decisions or doing so by their own desires, all immigrants have had to survive the physical and psychological challenges encountered along the way. To speak about the experiences of all these different people using the same ideas and examples would be quite inaccurate. They all, however, had to live through similar situations and deal with similar problems. Many of them succeeded and found the better future they were looking for. Many others found only hardship and experienced the destruction of their hopes and dreams. All of them were transformed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many immigrants feel the same way about the things they leave. I know I did when I left my home country of Bulgaria. My parents were hoping to provide my brother and me with a brighter future by moving to the US, the country where anything is possible, or so everyone said. It was 1998 and I was thirteen. I still remember the day we left and how hard it was for my whole family. Through tears, I said goodbye to all my relatives and friends whom I cherished and loved. I felt as if the whole world was closing up in me. I was being taken away from everything I knew and everything I loved. The cool breeze of that autumn day rushed through me as if foreshadowing a hard and cold future. The moment came for us to get on the plane. I wanted to stop time and run away, back to everything I knew. But that was impossible; the choice of turning back did not exist. As I was going up the stairs of the plane, I looked around at the airport and its surroundings. I looked and saw the warmth and light of the familiar places. I took a deep breath of the air around me, knowing it was the last time I could sense it, and went in. It really was hard for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Military Substance Abuse Research conducted by Miller et al. (2013) expands upon this hypothesis by assessing the risk factors of substance abuse among individuals with a mild traumatic brain injury. Results from the study suggest that all military personnel who suffer from a mild cranial injury are at a significant risk of developing a substance use disorder. Similarly, to the research conducted by Wagner et al., (2007), alcohol was the number one substance in which military members overindulged. Researchers assert that although physical symptoms heal rather quickly, the psychological sequelae will span a lifetime. A significant amount of research has been conducted how substance abuse disorders manifest within military personnel without any consideration about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In an effort to determine the impact of social support during a deployment, a study conducted by Delahij, Kamphuis and Van Den Berg (2016) conducts a comparative analysis of how family support promotes self efficacy. Traditionally, family is one categorical layer of support, when in reality it is multifaceted. For this experiment, researchers focused on the perceived level of support from a service member s family. Participants for this experimentation were North Atlantic Treaty Organization military personnel providing direct support to the International Security Assistance Force. Service members would document at the end of each month of their deployment the interactions with their family members. Measuring actual support would be difficult due to the variety of communications methods utilized in today society; therefore, researchers focused on the perception of support. Furthermore, an individual who is in constant communication with their family may not feel as supported than an individual with sporadic interactions may; thus, social support is subjective. Measurements ranged across a continuum starting with service members who felt no support to unwavering support. An additional goal of researchers was to measure the context of conversations based on the service member s interpretation. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The essential ruling in the case was the women could legally have an abortion through the first trimester of their pregnancy and that, after that, abortions could be regulated by the state. The case was fought by Roe, an unmarried, pregnant women who argued that the ban on abortion went against her rights and privacy This decision was a landmark one in the Supreme Court due because it ruled abortion as legal, which had never been done before. The Fourteenth Amendment, specifically the due process clause, was the piece of legislation cited in the ruling of this case. This decision is also important because it is still referenced nowadays. • 36. Department Of Correction Essay The department of corrections has implemented various programs in order to further help offenders to become self sufficient. Such programs include mental health, substance abuse, sex offender programs, and probation and parole just to name a few. While each program serves an important purpose I take interest in one particular program which is education that has been implemented around the country. Every year, thousands of adults that were incarcerated leave the nation s jails and prisons only to return to their families, regular lives and community in which they came from. Though many may live successful lives after reintegrating back into the community many others find themselves back into prisons and increase the rates of recidivism. ... Schools like Goucher College here in Maryland or Adams University have partnerships with prisons and allow inmates to register for programs to obtain a degree, or certification. Before I speak on the benefits of educational programs let me first define it. Education is one to obtain knowledge through learning. Since I can relate to this topic on a personal level, I found that education in the prison system comes in various forms, such as academic, vocational, drug alcohol treatment, self help/support groups, mental/sexual/physical health classes, college courses, and employment training. The Department of Corrections did a study from 1991 2002 that states and average of more than 50% of all inmates who are in the prison system did not have a high school diploma or G.E.D. Also about 75% of inmates had no vocational or collegiate education. Another important statistic is that the recidivism rate of inmates without their G.E.D. or diploma was at an alarming 65% 75%. These now these statistics are not stating that if someone is uneducated or under skilled there are more prone to return to prison, but it does imply some sort of correlation between education and ... • 37. Medical Ethics Of The Doctor Patient Relationship You may not control life s circumstances, but getting to be the author of your life means getting to control what you do with them (Atul Gawande). This quote, from renowned surgeon and essayist, Atul Gawande, expresses an important idea in medical ethics: patients possess a certain level of autonomy in the doctor patient relationship, and this autonomy needs to be respected by medical professionals. Ethically speaking, physicians owe their patients full disclosure about their diagnoses, treatment options, and any potential medical risks. Patients have the inherent right to know all aspects of their illness or malady, and it is not up to physicians to decide which information should be withheld from patients. Withholding information from patients breaks down any trust that may have existed within the physician patient relationship, and thus leads to an overall patient dissatisfaction towards the healthcare system. In any patient physician relationship, one of the most essential components is the element of trust. One patient remarks on the importance of trust by saying, We trust them not to use that expertise to exploit our vulnerability for their own interests...and we trust them to empower and enable us to place their recommendations into the full context of our own hierarchy of values (Pellegrino, Thomasma 1993). This patient is accurately describing trust in the context of the consumer model or patient autonomy model of a doctor patient relationship doctors provide ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
