Climate Change Of The California Valley Oak ( Quercus...
Habitat shift is another strategy used by plants to evade climate change. The term evade may be more
relevant here owing to the fact that with habitat shift a plant can translocate to a different area.
Typically with habitat shift a plant will move to a different habitat, as implied by the name. An
example of this can be seen in the California Valley Oak (Quercus lobata), which is very sensitive to
climate change. This species when exposed to elevated temperatures shifts itself northward and tends
to move from a largely terrestrial habitat to the edges of water sources. This is not foolproof because
their new habitat presents a dead end for the species. The rapidly increasing climate will eventually
kill the Quercus lobata (McLaughlin and Zavaleta 2012). These shifts can be even more drastic. For
example, one paper used computer models to observe climate change in Germany. Based off of
predicted models the paper inferred that many species would begin shifting to the Iberian Peninsula in
order to avoid climate change (Bergmann et al. 2009). Again, this shift could later become an issue as
with the Quercus lobata because of the dead end scenario. The dead end scenario is not the only
limitation associated with habitat shifts. Other limitations include the plants intrinsic abilities to move
these distances. It will be discussed further a little later in the paper, but if a plant has poor dispersal
mechanisms than it wont be able to escape climate change. Furthermore, if a

Hezbollah Essay
Abstract
Hezbollah (Arabic for Party of God ) is an umbrella organization of various radical Islamic Shi ite
groups and organizations which receives substantial financial and philosophical support from Iran.
Hezbollah s formation was a direct response to Israel s 1982 invasion of Lebanon designed to
eliminate the Palestinian Liberation Organization s base of operations. Hezbollah s stated objectives
include the establishment of a Shiite theocracy in Lebanon, the destruction of Israel, and the
elimination of Western influences from the Middle East.
The Hezbollah terrorist group can be described as a loosely coupled, highly adaptive networked
organization. The ability of the Hezbollah and its affiliates to conduct increasingly larger ... Show

The Hezbollah (Party of God) is a group formed of Muslims, mostly Lebanon Shiite clerics, is one of
the most dangerous. Hezbollah refers to itself with multiple titles including the Organization of the
Oppressed on Earth and the Revolutionary Justice Organization. Its main goal is the establishment of
an Islamic government across the Arab world that will liberate Jerusalem and the entire area of the
present day State of Israel.(jewishvirtuallibrary.org) The group formed reportedly in the 1980 s and
grew as a result of Lebanese and regional factors. Hezbollah serves as a strategic tool for Iran and
Syria while serving as an integral part of Lebanon s political and social make up. Hezbollah is a major
supporter of social services, operating schools, hospitals, and agricultural services for the Shiite
citizens of Lebanon. (CFR.org) The group is headquartered in Beirut, with ties in North and South
America, Asia, Europe and Africa. It controls the southern part of Lebanon where the concentration of
Shi a is greatest. The political relationship formed between the Palestinians, Israel and Lebanon helped
to expand the group. It s political strengths have grown since 2008, when the organization took over
West Beirut. Hezbollah has consistently tried to paint itself as a moderate national liberation

The Civil War And American History
In American History many significant events took place that reflected religious faith of multiple
Americans and has shaped the world we live in today. Throughout the 1800s, the most memorable
times in America took place throughout the Civil War. Events that escalated before, during and even
following the Civil War resulted in a chain of reactions from many people within that period. After
analyzing the events of the Civil War, I was able to draw a connection to the actions of the soldiers,
women and Black Americans and how they were consistent with Christian faith. Prior to emphasizing
how Americans were consistent with Christian faith, first it is vital to know a little background
information on that particular period. The Civil War was seen as a traumatic period. According to the
text, the Civil War was the bloodiest in American History that ended with 618,000 killed. There are
various arguments between the true causes of the war. Despite the arguments that claim slavery was
not the cause, slavery did however play a major factor in each argument presented. Therefore, Slavery
can be considered the major cause of war, and an issue that grew over the years. According to Degler,
slavery was clearly important as a moral issue, but also as an economic institution that divided two
different, and in many ways antagonistic, societies (Degler, 2011). The division of two societies, North
and South, is what lead the war itself. The Civil War consisted of battles between the

The Fundamentals Of Caring By Rob Burnett
The Fundamentals of Caring Evaluation
The Fundamentals of Caring directed by Rob Burnett who is a five time Emmy award winner and a 31
time Emmy nominee. Rob Burnett started off as an intern for David Letterman and then was head
writer for Everybody Loves Raymond. Later in 2012 he created an independent movie called We
Made This Movie and then went on to create The Fundamentals of Caring in 2016. The Fundamentals
of Caring is different; it was the final movie shown at Sundance and goes beyond the everyday
struggles of caring for a disabled person. It is argued that it is just a long explanation of what ALOHA
Ask, Listen, Observe, Help, Ask Again truly means, but it shows the hardships that come with
jumping over hurdles both physically and emotionally that result in unanticipated relationships. The
Fundamentals of Caring contains indecent humor, weak sense of shock, but the acting was able to
redeem itself and become pragmatic. The Fundamentals of Caring is about a new caregiver named
Ben (Paul Rudd) who starts off taking care of Trevor (Craig Roberts) who has a rare disorder called
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Ben soon discovered that he likes to pull pranks that are over the top.
For example, Trevor pretended to choke from his food and Ben did not realize he was joking and
freaked out. Ben also uncovered Trevor had an interest in mapping out tourist sites because he
believes he will never see them; it is his excitement. Ben plans and gets permission to bring

The Issue Of Human Rights
Human rights are perhaps the only concept which has remained the focus of many debates in the
modern world. The mere thought that all humans across the world irrespective of their culture, religion
and race are equal and deserve equality is perhaps the reason why it holds such significance among
people. There is something deeply attractive in the idea that every person anywhere in the world,
irrespective of citizenship or territorial legislation, has some basic rights, which others should respect.
(Sen, 2004) It allows each human being the dignity and respect to live and feel as much important in
the world as any other. Similarly to authenticate the respect and dignity of every individual Universal
Declaration of Human Rights immediately after its preamble declares All human beings are born free
and equal in dignity and rights... (U.N) The charter was drafted keeping in mind the atrocities that
occurred during the second world war. It was a solemn vow that all the nations in the world will
ensure such a catastrophe may never occur and that all shall work together to ensure world peace. The
Universal Declaration of Human Rights hoped it will carry the idea of human rights in to every corner
of the world.(Johnson, 2010) Universal Declaration of Human rights served as the building block on
which the frame work for future human rights was to be built upon. With time other international
conventions or treaties were formulated. This was done to provide a more solid basis to

Endotherm Lab Report
Endotherm are animals that regulate internal temperature at a range dispie ambient temperature
changes. This research will aid to identify how different ambient temperature will affect the mice s
metabolic rate. Previous research suggest that thermo neutral zone is the range which endotherm
conduct metabolic with least stress. However to understand the exact relationship between the change
in ambient temperature on endothermic metabolic rate, metabolic system measurement would be
carried out to measure the ambient temperature and oxygen percentage. The hypothesis was that as the
mices experiences ambient temperature outside of their thermal neutral zone, then they will intake
more oxygen because more metabolic activities need to take place ... Show more content on

Prior to the experiment, the eight mice were exposed to room temperature for 10 days so all the mice
can adjust to a constant temperature. One thing that s important to understand in order to measure the
metabolic rate is the mouse should not be growing, pregnant, eating, nor very active during this
process. This is because the growing, pregnant, eating and being active requires excessive amount of
metabolic activities. On experiment day, set up the metabolic measurement setup as shown in Figure

air for more accurate oxygen intake reading. Then is the flowmeter that help to maintain a certain
amount of oxygen being pass into the animal chamber. Having too much or too little oxygen can
toxicate or kill the mouse. Therefore to maintain the 400 ppm amount of air required for the mouse to
survive in the chamber, the flow meter is required to maintain constant observation of oxygen
provided for the animal. Then after the flowmeter is followed by where the animal will be in during
the experiment, the animal chamber. Connected to the animal chamber is the temperature probe for
measuring the temperature inside the chamber. Next is the condenser, which is required to remove the
moisture from the air the mouse breath out for more accurate oxygen intake reading. Then is the
oxygen probe sensor that measures the oxygen output from the mouse and the system ends when the
air goes back out into the environment. One thing wasn shown in this figure is a copper coiler shown

Court Room And One Party
Lawyers are responsible to demand justice for those who have violated their legal rights or an act
against the law. A lawyer is an individual that is trained to be able to handle any various legal issues at
hand. Lawyers have many task such as protecting their clients life as well as belongings, defending a
client if legal action is taken towards them, and guiding their client in the right direction of legal
advice from the law. Our law is very complex, rather than asking someone to learn the law, as citizens
we just pay someone who knows them, studies them and has practiced them in various ways. When
thinking of lawyers many people only think about the big picture, two parties in a court room and one
party becomes victorious. Lawyers are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many cases lawyers have said wrong meaning in the court for something that the client had not
even done, resulting in false accusation which could possibly put an innocent person away for nothing,
this is why it is essential that lawyers prepare the way that they do. As a lawyer it is your job to prove
adequate abilities towards your case and most of all your client. Seeking justice in the conclusion
should be the attorneys goal even if the client presumes to be guilty. As a student with a passion for
the study of law, I have no fear in being the first to say that justice is something we as people need to
keep fighting for. Without justice who knows how things would be, our world would be a complete
mess. Recognition of the good from the bad, as well as the just of our law, to the unjust. Becoming a
lawyer is no easy task, in fact it is considered one of the more difficult choices as a career path. With
law being so widely spread there are numerous approaches one may take in achieving the official goal
in sight, being said, most find that the approach taken is not always the final result. For example,
many attorneys that pursue becoming a prosecutor have a change of mind towards that study because
they learn to combat with it so well, ultimately switching sides to become a defense

Jesse Prinz s Argument Analysis
Philosophers have always strived to nurture a relationship between moral judgment and emotion. They
often analyze the various concepts put forward with the aim of explaining morality which would be
the best approach to assess the credibility of the arguments for morality. Literature suggests that
relativists hold onto their arguments based on the fact that various cultures tend to have varying moral
belief systems.
According to Jesse Prinz, the origins of our moral inclinations is merely cultural. For centuries, moral
relativism has been recognized as a liberal doctrine that has had significant implications on the society
s way of life, organization, and the perception of others. Prinz lays out an argument in which he
claimed that morals differ ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, relativism informs us that we would be wrong to think that we hold the true form of
morality. Additionally, throughout our lives, we attempt to pursue values that could make us live
fulfilling lives, though we ought to acknowledge that fulfillment is also relative hence there are no
values that could be designed or claimed to be universally fulfilling (p. 20). Realizing that relativism
is real could help everyone individually by demonstrating that our treasured values are parochial and
mutable. We ought to abandon the assumption that others share our beliefs and acknowledge that our
moral values could have been different had we be born or had we lived in different conditions. In this
manner, we will be able to be more flexible, open minded, and tolerant. However, the three serious
shortcoming of the relativist theory makes it unattractive. However, if we were to have open minds
and refrain from arrogance, we could be able to accommodate the relativist theory without accepting

Australian Greens Research Paper
The Australian Greens represent the progressive face of Australian politics and have formulated their
policy positions with a reformist framework. Whilst the Greens origins and expansion are primarily a
consequence of new social movements, splits within the ALP and its supporter base have enabled
them to expand their political voice. The Greens can trace their origins to local party branches across
Australia that have merged together to become Australia s the nationally recognised party Greens
Party. The Nuclear Disarmament party and the Franklin River campaign bought the Greens onto the
national stage and revealed the power of social movements in elevating the Greens into a political
force. However, the ALP s failure to present themselves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ALP has taken a back seat to accommodating new social movements as it seeks to take whatever
measures necessary to achieving government. In response, the Greens have used social movements as
a platform for the party s campaigning. The dynamics of election campaigning has evolved in
Australia and has seen the major parties produce less emphasis on traditional ideology (Katz and Mair
2009:762) in their attempts to winning elections by targeting swing electorates. Therefore, the Greens
have emerged as a party of principle in the face of blurring distinctions between the two major parties
who seek to freeze out the minor parties and maintain their electoral dominance. Minor parties have
fallen victim to elements of Cartelization in Australian politics which aims to prevent any challenges
to the dominance of the two major parties. Furthermore, the Greens have garnered support through the
belief that the Liberals as well as the ALP have become indifferent to the desires of ordinary citizens
as policies become part of the state than they are policies of any particular party or coalition (Katz and
Mair 2009:759). The Cartelization of Australian Politics justifies how divisions within the ALP have
played a significant role in the origins of the Greens as voters seek to challenge the dominant two

My aunt Julie is one of the most amazing, sweet, and hilarious people I have ever met.
She has the most beautiful and kind soul. She was also born with a severe mental and physical
handicap called Cerebral Palsy. It is a condition that occurs when the brain hasn t completely
developed at birth, in Julie s case she was born prematurely and was also a twin, making her even
smaller and more frail at birth. Julie was born not breathing and the doctors couldn t get her to start
breathing for 5 minutes after she was born. She is now in her early fifties, but only has the mental
capability of a 78 year old child. She has been in a wheelchair for her whole life and never even taken
one step, she also has very minimal control of her arms and hands. Julie also has a very hard time
controlling her temper and her emotions, I can only assume that it is because she feels as though she is
trapped in her own body and will never be able to get out of it and feel free.
Julie has this crazy love for Nascar and has never missed watching a race. Everyone has their little
obsessions, for my six year old nephew it is toy cars, my older brother it is playing the guitar, for me it
is Cadbury Eggs, but for Julie it is Nascar races and the Nascar driver Dale
Earnhardt JR. In 2013 my mom and I had decided to take Julie to go see the Daytona 500 in
Daytona Florida. This was such a huge deal for Julie because she had never been out of the state of

The World s Largest Gas Company For Gas
For over 40 years, Europe has been relying on Russia for the importation of energy, such as oil.5 One
of Russia s major gas company, Gazprom, is one of the world s largest gas distributing companies,
causing many countries to become dependent on the Russian company for gas. In 2015 alone,
Gazprom exported around 158 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe, and of those European countries
to have received gas, Germany was the highest, with an import of 45.31 billion cubic meters of
Gazprom gas. Countries in the Baltic region and countries in south eastern Europe are usually very
dependent on Russian gas. The European Union is Russia s most involved trading partner, especially
when it comes in terms of oil. About 41% of Russia s exports are sent to EU countries.7 According to
Gazprom s statistics, Western European countries make up 82% of Gazprom s exports, and Central
European countries make up 18% of their exports.3 These numbers are significant because it displays
Europe s major dependence on Russian oil, which is a major problem, because of Russia s ability to
deprive Europe of energy at any given time, as shown from 2006 to 2009, when Russia cut off
Ukraine s gas line due to disputes regarding gas prices.23 If Russia decides to shut off gas to a region,
it can lead to people being without ways to heat their homes or cook their food, leaving a big liability
on the people. Europe s vulnerability to these gas shortages gives Russian leverage over many EU
countries who heavily

The Back Of The Future Trilogy Narrative And A Few...
Time travel narratives explore the idea of changing what has been solidified in time; whether going
backwards or forwards, they portray the consequences of the free will of change They also portray an
ideology of the time period it is created in and thus the vision of the future is created with that in
mind. With a rather pessimistic idea of time, there has been an incorporation of comedy in order to
make the events less consequential in their narratives. The Back to the Future trilogy narrative and a
few selected episodes of Futurama share time travel traits that can explore the consequences of
changing both the past and future but uses comedy in order to alleviate the morbid idea of time. They
both explore the ideas of butterfly effects, alternate universes, causal loops with scientific accuracy but
allows comedy to rectify the absurdity of time travel and its components. Where Back to the Future
sees time travel as an idea that can go both backwards and forwards, Futurama clearly states that
backwards time travel is difficult to do and prove, but forwards time travel is scientifically capable. In
the confines of science fiction, time travel reveals a side that allows alterations in choices; science
fiction narratives are situational ideas that have been solidified in its event, whereas time travel
narratives allow for the exploration of preventing events from ever happening.
The concept of time travel suffers from the idea of being stuck in a certain time period and

The House of Mirth Essay
The House of Mirth Lily and Selden are on a walk together, Lily having broken her second planned

She instead convinces him to join the other guests and go to the Van Osburgh home in Peekskill.
Selden tells Lily that he views everything she does as having been premeditated. She disagrees, saying

perceptions will not be corrupted by Lily s influence. Another feature that Selden brings into the novel
is that of being amphibious, that is, being able to live with the elite and also with the working classes.
I have tried to remain amphibious. Selden is in fact the only man who works in the novel, and his

he considers to be a vice. Book I, Chapter 7 Mrs. Trenor admonishes Lily for spending time with

Theme Of The First Boy That Kissed Me
The poem, the first boy that kissed me (12), found in the first chapter, discusses the nature and
consequences of rape as a quality of patriarchal societies tendency to degrade and belittle women. The
poem narrates the speaker s experience of her first kiss, from a boy, as a result of force at the age of
five and compares it to the abuse endured by the boy s mother. Kaur s poem identifies the central
theme, the abuse inflicted by patriarchal traditions in twenty first century societies, with the use of
literary devices. Firstly, the four stanza poem begins, in first person narration, with an exposition of
the speaker s first kiss at the age of five as an act of force and objectification by a young boy. The
speaker illustrates their experience as they were held down by their arms in the lines 3 5: like the
handlebars of the first bicycle he ever rode The use of simile, in the first stanza, allows the comparison
of the speaker, at the age of five, to an ordinary object or game of the abuser s life. This degradation of
the speaker to a mere object for pleasure reveals the abuse caused by patriarchal traditions of belittling
women. Furthermore, the lack of capitalisation throughout the stanza, evident in the line i was five (6),
demonstrates the speaker s continuous feelings of abase associated with her experience, which further

A Physician Hospital Organization ( Pho )
A physician hospital organization (PHO) consists of 15 hospitals with 2,247 staffed beds and
approximately 500 physicians. The PHO operates in a very large section of south Georgia, including
the cities of Valdosta, Tifton, Thomasville, Moultrie, and Waycross. The PHOs physician members
represent approximately 90 percent of all physicians practicing in the region.
The PHO served as a vehicle through which competing hospitals and physicians could bargain
collectively with health plans to obtain higher fees for themselves. The owner PHOs, member
hospitals, and member physicians canceled contracts with payors and informed them that the PHO
would be the sole entity through which they would enter into payor contracts. To contract with the
PHO, payors allegedly have had to accept the fixed physician fee schedule and fixed discount of no
more than 10 percent off hospital list prices.

Montana Army Aviation started in the early 1950 s with only a handful of pilots and mechanics that
returned to Montana from active service that still wanted to serve their country from their home state
with the Montana Army National Guard. Equipped with only a few OH 23 Raven helicopters and a
small hangar, the Montana Army National Guard Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) was born.
The units assigned at that time only had limited capabilities but it soon grew into an outstanding
organization full of professional Soldiers willing to give their time to make sure the state and country
had operational aircraft ready for any mission assigned for national or state emergencies.
Montana was reorganized into an Attack Helicopter Battalion (AHB) in 1988 with AH 1S Cobras, UH

Glucocorticoids Research Paper
Glucocorticoids are well known for their analgesic, anti inflammatory, immune modulating, and
antiemetic effects.
A. Anti Inflammatory and Immunosuppressive Effects
Glucocorticoids dramatically reduce the manifestations of inflammation. This is due to their profound
effects on the concentration, distribution, and function of peripheral leukocytes and to their
suppressive effects on the inflammatory cytokines and chemokines and on other mediators of
inflammation. Inflammation, regardless of its cause, is characterized by the extravasation and
infiltration of leukocytes into the affected tissue. These events are mediated by a complex series of
interactions of white cell adhesion molecules with those on endothelial cells and are inhibited by
glucocorticoids. After a single dose of a glucocorticoid, the concentration of neutrophils in the
circulation increases while the lymphocytes (T and B cells), monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils
decrease. The changes are maximal at 6 hours and are dissipated in 24 hours. The increase in
neutrophils is due both to the increased influx into the blood from the bone marrow and to the

In practice, dexamethasone is less widely used for control of PONV by anesthetists in gastrointestinal
patients, perhaps because of a lack of proven efficacy in these patients. However, its use is advocated
in some enhanced recovery programs (ERAS) to improve recovery after colorectal surgery. Its precise
mechanism of action is unknown but it has been proposed that the antiemetic properties arise due to
activation of glucocorticoid receptors in the medulla, or by inhibiting central production of
prostaglandins or inhibiting the release of endogenous opioids. It is also known to improve appetite,
and in combination with reduced nausea and vomiting, aids early recovery. Glucocorticoids can also

According to Richard Brisebois, Greg Boyd, and Ziad Shadid, IT Governance focuses specifically on
information technology systems, their performance and risk management. The primary goals of IT
Governance are to assure that the investments in IT generate business value, and to mitigate the risks
that are associated with IT. This can be done by implementing an organizational structure with well
defined roles for the responsibility of information, business processes, applications, and infrastructure.
(Brisebois, Boyd, and Shadid, n.d.). IM/IT priorities recently changed to concentrate on the integration
of systems across several facilities, computerization of patient records and improve decision support
for clinicians and managers. The IT Governance Institute business models developed an in depth value

Igbo Rites Of Passage Essay
The Igbo culture is very unique. It is vibrant, lively, and full of traditions that have been around since
the founding of the tribe. Some of these traditions include rites of passage. These rites of passage
signify a change in the life of a person in the Igbo tribe. The rites of passage in the Igbo culture occur
at birth, when a person reaches the age in which they want to build a family, and at death.
The first rite of passage that a person of Igbo culture will go through takes place only a few days after
birth. This rite of passage is known as the naming ceremony. In this rite, a newborn baby is part of a
very important ceremony where his or her parents chose a name for the child. This is a very special
occasion because the name given to the child will be stuck with them forever. Igbo names can hold
deep meaning. The name given to a child can determine the reputation that they have for the rest of
their life. In the book Things Fall Apart , by Chinua Achebe, a woman named Ekwefi has multiple
children who die. After her children continue to die, she names her daughter Ozoemena, which means
may it not happen again . Parents of the Igbo tribe have a unique way of using names to show feelings
that they have for their child.

Democracy And The Liberal Democracy
Democracy varies in every country depending on the type of government or regime they have. There
is the liberal democracy, which is all about giving people their rights and liberties; everything is done
through fair voting and electing. The people are aware of everything that happens in their government.
Illiberal democracies are basically the same as liberal, but the people in power are more secretive of
their activities, and there is less civil liberty. It is essentially a partial democracy. Now Authoritarian
regimes designate any political system that concentrates power in the hands of one leader or a small
elite. There are no free elections and very little regard for the law. Political institutions, social
structures, and the democratic rule of law all affect liberal, illiberal, and authoritarian regimes
democratic quality differently. First, liberal democracies are more open with the people. The
philosophical traditions of a liberal democratic republic are democracies, liberalism, and
republicanism. Democracies try to be equal with all, it stresses public rights, it reaches for what the
majority wants, and it is very protective against authoritarianism. In liberalism, natural rights can t be
violated, private rights are very important, no one is above the law, and the government has no rights.
In republicanism the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. The chief executive is chosen
through lections, and every citizen has their right to vote. Political

Hallucinogenic Drug Addiction
Human life is mostly a collection of sensations and perceptions, the byproduct of our interactions with
our environment as we do the things necessary for survival. Much of our success in life seems to
depend on accurately perceiving the dangers and opportunities we are presented with. In the modern
age of information processing, we are more dependent than ever on the perceptive capacity of our
brains. By using hallucinogenic drugs, a person intentionally alters their brain s ability to accurately
perceive the stimuli it receives, producing an altered state of consciousness in which they have
experiences with little or no basis in reality. There are many documented risks and side effects

Munro s Argumentative Essay
I will discuss now whether No Advantages causes the readers to identify the homodiegetic narrator to
the author, offering an autobiographical pact to the reader. Beforehand, I want to point out that
returning to the author must not necessarily means to equate author and narrator simply (see Kumray
32f). In contrast to this, I more interested in revealing the rhetorical strategy that leads the readers to
assume that the author speaks to them, and not a narrator ontological independent from him/her.
Obviously, the easiest way to provoke this equation is that the author and the narrator share the same
name (see Kumrey 43). However, information about the author that the readers have and can relater to
the narrator lead likewise to identitify ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, she quotes the above mentioned report on valley that inspirited the title of the story (see
Munro 3). Also, other sources to which Munro refers, namely the Blackwoods Magazine (I) and the
The Minstrelsy of the Scottish Bard (I), reappear in No Advantages again (see Munro 19, 26). The
narrator does exactly the same that the author announced in the foreword, including her remark about
the reports on the ancestors that resemble stories. To select one arbitrary example, the author reports in
the foreword that Walter Scott had visited her ancestor to gather Scottish ballads (Munro I). In No
Advantages, the readers also encounter a narrative how Scott visits one of her ancestors (see Munro
21ff). Thereby, she changes from a homodiegetic I narrator to a heterodiegetic one, as she would tell a
story: Walter Scott was an outsider of sorts, an Edinburgh lawyer now appointed to a high post in his
family´s traditional territory. (Munro 21). However, she sometimes returns from the family narratives
to her starting point as descendant who is keen to explore the life of her ancestors. For instance, the
critique of her ancestor on Scott´s way to present her ballads let her drawn following conclusion:
Scots are like that. I think. My family was like that (Munro 22). . It seems that the readers bear witness
how Munro collects her material to create on her family by reading how the narrator presents and
reflects on the life of her Scottish ancestors since she sticks meticulously to the poetic agenda
displayed in the foreword. Thus, the autobiographical pact is not only in force if she writes about her
research in Scotland but also as she tells stories about the life of her ancestors. The readers are likely
to believe that Munro directly speaks to them while her narrations and not to dinstiguish Munro from a
narrator created by

Walter Lee Younger s A Raisin In The Sun By Lorraine...
The human brain is host to nearly 100 billion neurons, each working to take in and process new
information at every and any given moment. Its potential and capacity is beyond that known to man;
the brain is the source of everything we have in life. It creates our experiences, perceptions, and makes
us who we are by shaping our priorities. One can imagine, then, that such an alive, complicated object
would have multiple levels of needs, which shift throughout life in response to different situations or
stimuli. This is effectively reflected through Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs. In order from bottom to
top, the needs are biological, safety, belongingness/love, esteem, and finally, self actualisation. The
most basic needs are at the bottom of the tier, and progressing upward more complex needs are
present. Often the perceived need is unattainable, as a simpler category of needs has not been satisfied.
In Walter Lee Younger s case, he desperately desires status and wealth, but in his quest for this, he s
neglected his family relationships, thus failing to fulfill belongingness and love needs. In A Raisin in

In today s era they re many business structures like sole proprietorships, partnerships, limited liability
companies (LLC), and corporations in which individuals uses to start their own business. Any types of
business structure that you may choose will have legal and tax implications (SBA, 2016). If I were to

(LLC). A limited liability company is a mix type of legal structure that provides the limited liability
features of a corporation and the tax efficiencies and operational flexibility of a partnership (SBA,

Types of Business Structure
There are several business structures that one could use to start a new business and to make a present

The Capital Structure Decision Of Firms With Powerful Ceos
Methodology This study looks for evidence that the capital structure decision of firms with powerful
CEOs has a negative effect of corporate performance. Ho: CEO power and Leverage have no effect on
performance. Ha: CEO power and Leverage have an effect on performance. In order to test this
hypothesis, an OLS regression model is used, where the dependent variable is performance and the
independent variables include: (1) the existence of powerful CEOs, (2) leverage, (3) the relationship
between these two and (4) some control variables. Table 1 summarises all variables included in the
regression function and the rationale behind the selection of each one of them. Dependent Variables
Empirical researchers use a variety of performance measurements among which stands out the
accounting ratio of ROA. Additionally, as the firms objective is increasing value in benefit of its
owners, the Tobin s Q ratio is also used as a measure of market value of the firm, following the
approach of Morck, Shleifer and Vishny (1988) and Gompers, Ishii and Metrick (2003). Independent
Variables Leverage is measured by the ratio of total debt to total asset, and the CEO dominance is

Individuals and PACs in finance, insurance, and real estate have contributed over $2 billion to federal

SSFs are political committees established and administered by corporations, labor unions, membership

were still able to find loopholes to contribute money to campaigns. Due to the absurd amounts of
money that is required for the candidates to be able to creditably and adequately compete; candidates
have been forced to turn to PACs to fund their campaigns. The current system of campaign financing
argues that the high cost of office seeking and current ways of meeting those costs not only distract
elected officials from their primary task of lawmaking, but leave the door open to the influence of
special interests (Power online). This method of campaigning is criticized to be undemocratic, because

Malcolm Gladwell Factors Of Success Analysis
( removed HTML )
Malcolm Gladwell said: Practice isn t the thing you do once you re good. It s the thing you do that
makes you good. Journalist and author, Malcolm Gladwell is best known for writing The Outliers, a
book which challenges readers definitions of success by claiming special chances, hidden potentials,
and cultural legacies lead to success. He asserts that if you work hard enough, assert yourself, and use
your mind and imagination, you can shape the world to your desires. (Gladwell, 2013) The first
relevant example is Bill Joy and Bill Gates and their I.T. success. Second, the Beatles, a group of
musicians, used their minds and imaginations to challenge the music industry. Lastly, some

Weapons Of Mass Destruction Research Paper
Ever since the tragic events that took place on 9/11, the looming fear of terrorist organization opting to
use a Weapon of Mass Destruction has manifested itself into the biggest concern for our nation s
Homeland Security. To prevent such destructive weaponry from ever falling into the possession of a
hostile extremist group, the United States government must continue to be active and remain persistent
in their counterterrorism efforts. Several major terrorist organizations throughout the middle east, are
vigorously attempting to obtain and even develop these weapons so they can be used against their
enemies. Even the very thought of a terrorist group, such as ISIS, successfully obtaining or developing
a Weapon of Mass Destruction alone, is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The incredible amount of danger associated with the use of any Weapon of Mass Destruction is the
reason for why it s become the biggest concern towards the safety and security of the United States
and its citizens. The term Weapon of Mass Destruction is used to identify and categorize an assortment
of extremely devastating weaponry, as each of the weapons placed into this category have two unique
traits: their potential for large scale destruction and the indiscriminate nature of their effects, notably
against civilians (Reed, n.d.). Since the despicable attacks made against the United States on 9/11, no
other major attacks involving a Weapon of Mass Destruction being used by a terrorist organization to
target the United States have been documented. This is primarily due to the governments focus on
increasing the level of Homeland Security and arrangements made with other foreign nations to
effectively monitor and control the manufacturing of these weapons. By effectively applying theses
new strategic measures, it has made it very problematic for terrorist s organizations to even be able to
obtain the materials required to develop a Weapon of Mass

  • 2. Climate Change Of The California Valley Oak ( Quercus... Habitat shift is another strategy used by plants to evade climate change. The term evade may be more relevant here owing to the fact that with habitat shift a plant can translocate to a different area. Typically with habitat shift a plant will move to a different habitat, as implied by the name. An example of this can be seen in the California Valley Oak (Quercus lobata), which is very sensitive to climate change. This species when exposed to elevated temperatures shifts itself northward and tends to move from a largely terrestrial habitat to the edges of water sources. This is not foolproof because their new habitat presents a dead end for the species. The rapidly increasing climate will eventually kill the Quercus lobata (McLaughlin and Zavaleta 2012). These shifts can be even more drastic. For example, one paper used computer models to observe climate change in Germany. Based off of predicted models the paper inferred that many species would begin shifting to the Iberian Peninsula in order to avoid climate change (Bergmann et al. 2009). Again, this shift could later become an issue as with the Quercus lobata because of the dead end scenario. The dead end scenario is not the only limitation associated with habitat shifts. Other limitations include the plants intrinsic abilities to move these distances. It will be discussed further a little later in the paper, but if a plant has poor dispersal mechanisms than it wont be able to escape climate change. Furthermore, if a ... Hezbollah Essay Abstract Hezbollah (Arabic for Party of God ) is an umbrella organization of various radical Islamic Shi ite groups and organizations which receives substantial financial and philosophical support from Iran. Hezbollah s formation was a direct response to Israel s 1982 invasion of Lebanon designed to eliminate the Palestinian Liberation Organization s base of operations. Hezbollah s stated objectives include the establishment of a Shiite theocracy in Lebanon, the destruction of Israel, and the elimination of Western influences from the Middle East. The Hezbollah terrorist group can be described as a loosely coupled, highly adaptive networked organization. The ability of the Hezbollah and its affiliates to conduct increasingly larger ... Hezbollah refers to itself with multiple titles including the Organization of the Oppressed on Earth and the Revolutionary Justice Organization. Its main goal is the establishment of an Islamic government across the Arab world that will liberate Jerusalem and the entire area of the present day State of Israel.(jewishvirtuallibrary.org) The group formed reportedly in the 1980 s and grew as a result of Lebanese and regional factors. Hezbollah serves as a strategic tool for Iran and Syria while serving as an integral part of Lebanon s political and social make up. Hezbollah is a major supporter of social services, operating schools, hospitals, and agricultural services for the Shiite citizens of Lebanon. (CFR.org) The group is headquartered in Beirut, with ties in North and South America, Asia, Europe and Africa. It controls the southern part of Lebanon where the concentration of Shi a is greatest. The political relationship formed between the Palestinians, Israel and Lebanon helped to expand the group. It s political strengths have grown since 2008, when the organization took over West Beirut. • 4. The Civil War And American History In American History many significant events took place that reflected religious faith of multiple Americans and has shaped the world we live in today. Throughout the 1800s, the most memorable times in America took place throughout the Civil War. Events that escalated before, during and even following the Civil War resulted in a chain of reactions from many people within that period. After analyzing the events of the Civil War, I was able to draw a connection to the actions of the soldiers, women and Black Americans and how they were consistent with Christian faith. Prior to emphasizing how Americans were consistent with Christian faith, first it is vital to know a little background information on that particular period. The Civil War was seen as a traumatic period. According to the text, the Civil War was the bloodiest in American History that ended with 618,000 killed. There are various arguments between the true causes of the war. Despite the arguments that claim slavery was not the cause, slavery did however play a major factor in each argument presented. Therefore, Slavery can be considered the major cause of war, and an issue that grew over the years. According to Degler, slavery was clearly important as a moral issue, but also as an economic institution that divided two different, and in many ways antagonistic, societies (Degler, 2011). The division of two societies, North and South, is what lead the war itself. The Civil War consisted of battles between the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is argued that it is just a long explanation of what ALOHA Ask, Listen, Observe, Help, Ask Again truly means, but it shows the hardships that come with jumping over hurdles both physically and emotionally that result in unanticipated relationships. The Fundamentals of Caring contains indecent humor, weak sense of shock, but the acting was able to redeem itself and become pragmatic. The Fundamentals of Caring is about a new caregiver named Ben (Paul Rudd) who starts off taking care of Trevor (Craig Roberts) who has a rare disorder called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Ben soon discovered that he likes to pull pranks that are over the top. For example, Trevor pretended to choke from his food and Ben did not realize he was joking and freaked out. Ben also uncovered Trevor had an interest in mapping out tourist sites because he believes he will never see them; it is his excitement. Ben plans and gets permission to bring ... The mere thought that all humans across the world irrespective of their culture, religion and race are equal and deserve equality is perhaps the reason why it holds such significance among people. There is something deeply attractive in the idea that every person anywhere in the world, irrespective of citizenship or territorial legislation, has some basic rights, which others should respect. (Sen, 2004) It allows each human being the dignity and respect to live and feel as much important in the world as any other. Similarly to authenticate the respect and dignity of every individual Universal Declaration of Human Rights immediately after its preamble declares All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights... (U.N) The charter was drafted keeping in mind the atrocities that occurred during the second world war. It was a solemn vow that all the nations in the world will ensure such a catastrophe may never occur and that all shall work together to ensure world peace. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights hoped it will carry the idea of human rights in to every corner of the world.(Johnson, 2010) Universal Declaration of Human rights served as the building block on which the frame work for future human rights was to be built upon. This research will aid to identify how different ambient temperature will affect the mice s metabolic rate. Previous research suggest that thermo neutral zone is the range which endotherm conduct metabolic with least stress. However to understand the exact relationship between the change in ambient temperature on endothermic metabolic rate, metabolic system measurement would be carried out to measure the ambient temperature and oxygen percentage. The hypothesis was that as the mices experiences ambient temperature outside of their thermal neutral zone, then they will intake more oxygen because more metabolic activities need to take place ... One thing that s important to understand in order to measure the metabolic rate is the mouse should not be growing, pregnant, eating, nor very active during this process. This is because the growing, pregnant, eating and being active requires excessive amount of metabolic activities. On experiment day, set up the metabolic measurement setup as shown in Figure 1. Figure 1 is consist of a air pump for pumping air throughout the system for the rat. A drying column to slow down the air movement in the system and to remove the water molecules or moisture from the air for more accurate oxygen intake reading. Then is the flowmeter that help to maintain a certain amount of oxygen being pass into the animal chamber. Having too much or too little oxygen can toxicate or kill the mouse. Therefore to maintain the 400 ppm amount of air required for the mouse to survive in the chamber, the flow meter is required to maintain constant observation of oxygen provided for the animal. Then after the flowmeter is followed by where the animal will be in during the experiment, the animal chamber. Connected to the animal chamber is the temperature probe for measuring the temperature inside the chamber. Next is the condenser, which is required to remove the moisture from the air the mouse breath out for more accurate oxygen intake reading. They often analyze the various concepts put forward with the aim of explaining morality which would be the best approach to assess the credibility of the arguments for morality. Literature suggests that relativists hold onto their arguments based on the fact that various cultures tend to have varying moral belief systems. According to Jesse Prinz, the origins of our moral inclinations is merely cultural. In 2015 alone, Gazprom exported around 158 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe, and of those European countries to have received gas, Germany was the highest, with an import of 45.31 billion cubic meters of Gazprom gas. Time travel narratives explore the idea of changing what has been solidified in time; whether going backwards or forwards, they portray the consequences of the free will of change They also portray an ideology of the time period it is created in and thus the vision of the future is created with that in mind. With a rather pessimistic idea of time, there has been an incorporation of comedy in order to make the events less consequential in their narratives. The Back to the Future trilogy narrative and a few selected episodes of Futurama share time travel traits that can explore the consequences of changing both the past and future but uses comedy in order to alleviate the morbid idea of time. They both explore the ideas of butterfly effects, alternate universes, causal loops with scientific accuracy but allows comedy to rectify the absurdity of time travel and its components. Where Back to the Future sees time travel as an idea that can go both backwards and forwards, Futurama clearly states that backwards time travel is difficult to do and prove, but forwards time travel is scientifically capable. In the confines of science fiction, time travel reveals a side that allows alterations in choices; science fiction narratives are situational ideas that have been solidified in its event, whereas time travel narratives allow for the exploration of preventing events from ever happening. • 20. Theme Of The First Boy That Kissed Me The poem, the first boy that kissed me (12), found in the first chapter, discusses the nature and consequences of rape as a quality of patriarchal societies tendency to degrade and belittle women. The poem narrates the speaker s experience of her first kiss, from a boy, as a result of force at the age of five and compares it to the abuse endured by the boy s mother. Kaur s poem identifies the central theme, the abuse inflicted by patriarchal traditions in twenty first century societies, with the use of literary devices. Firstly, the four stanza poem begins, in first person narration, with an exposition of the speaker s first kiss at the age of five as an act of force and objectification by a young boy. The speaker illustrates their experience as they were held down by their arms in the lines 3 5: like the handlebars of the first bicycle he ever rode The use of simile, in the first stanza, allows the comparison of the speaker, at the age of five, to an ordinary object or game of the abuser s life. This degradation of the speaker to a mere object for pleasure reveals the abuse caused by patriarchal traditions of belittling women. Furthermore, the lack of capitalisation throughout the stanza, evident in the line i was five (6), demonstrates the speaker s continuous feelings of abase associated with her experience, which further ... Anti Inflammatory and Immunosuppressive Effects Glucocorticoids dramatically reduce the manifestations of inflammation. This is due to their profound effects on the concentration, distribution, and function of peripheral leukocytes and to their suppressive effects on the inflammatory cytokines and chemokines and on other mediators of inflammation. Inflammation, regardless of its cause, is characterized by the extravasation and infiltration of leukocytes into the affected tissue. These events are mediated by a complex series of interactions of white cell adhesion molecules with those on endothelial cells and are inhibited by glucocorticoids. After a single dose of a glucocorticoid, the concentration of neutrophils in the circulation increases while the lymphocytes (T and B cells), monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils decrease. According to Richard Brisebois, Greg Boyd, and Ziad Shadid, IT Governance focuses specifically on information technology systems, their performance and risk management. The primary goals of IT Governance are to assure that the investments in IT generate business value, and to mitigate the risks that are associated with IT. This can be done by implementing an organizational structure with well defined roles for the responsibility of information, business processes, applications, and infrastructure. (Brisebois, Boyd, and Shadid, n.d.). IM/IT priorities recently changed to concentrate on the integration of systems across several facilities, computerization of patient records and improve decision support for clinicians and managers. • 31. Igbo Rites Of Passage Essay The Igbo culture is very unique. It is vibrant, lively, and full of traditions that have been around since the founding of the tribe. Some of these traditions include rites of passage. These rites of passage signify a change in the life of a person in the Igbo tribe. The rites of passage in the Igbo culture occur at birth, when a person reaches the age in which they want to build a family, and at death. The first rite of passage that a person of Igbo culture will go through takes place only a few days after birth. This rite of passage is known as the naming ceremony. In this rite, a newborn baby is part of a very important ceremony where his or her parents chose a name for the child. This is a very special occasion because the name given to the child will be stuck with them forever. Igbo names can hold deep meaning. The name given to a child can determine the reputation that they have for the rest of their life. In the book Things Fall Apart , by Chinua Achebe, a woman named Ekwefi has multiple children who die. After her children continue to die, she names her daughter Ozoemena, which means may it not happen again . Parents of the Igbo tribe have a unique way of using names to show feelings that they have for their child. The next rite of passage that a person in the Igbo tribe ... • 32. Democracy And The Liberal Democracy Democracy varies in every country depending on the type of government or regime they have. There is the liberal democracy, which is all about giving people their rights and liberties; everything is done through fair voting and electing. The people are aware of everything that happens in their government. Illiberal democracies are basically the same as liberal, but the people in power are more secretive of their activities, and there is less civil liberty. It is essentially a partial democracy. Now Authoritarian regimes designate any political system that concentrates power in the hands of one leader or a small elite. There are no free elections and very little regard for the law. Political institutions, social structures, and the democratic rule of law all affect liberal, illiberal, and authoritarian regimes democratic quality differently. First, liberal democracies are more open with the people. The philosophical traditions of a liberal democratic republic are democracies, liberalism, and republicanism. Democracies try to be equal with all, it stresses public rights, it reaches for what the majority wants, and it is very protective against authoritarianism. In liberalism, natural rights can t be violated, private rights are very important, no one is above the law, and the government has no rights. In republicanism the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. The chief executive is chosen through lections, and every citizen has their right to vote. Political ... Hallucinogenic Drug Addiction Human life is mostly a collection of sensations and perceptions, the byproduct of our interactions with our environment as we do the things necessary for survival. Much of our success in life seems to depend on accurately perceiving the dangers and opportunities we are presented with. In the modern age of information processing, we are more dependent than ever on the perceptive capacity of our brains. By using hallucinogenic drugs, a person intentionally alters their brain s ability to accurately perceive the stimuli it receives, producing an altered state of consciousness in which they have experiences with little or no basis in reality. • 34. Munro s Argumentative Essay I will discuss now whether No Advantages causes the readers to identify the homodiegetic narrator to the author, offering an autobiographical pact to the reader. Beforehand, I want to point out that returning to the author must not necessarily means to equate author and narrator simply (see Kumray 32f). In contrast to this, I more interested in revealing the rhetorical strategy that leads the readers to assume that the author speaks to them, and not a narrator ontological independent from him/her. Obviously, the easiest way to provoke this equation is that the author and the narrator share the same name (see Kumrey 43). However, information about the author that the readers have and can relater to the narrator lead likewise to identitify ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, she quotes the above mentioned report on valley that inspirited the title of the story (see Munro 3). Also, other sources to which Munro refers, namely the Blackwoods Magazine (I) and the The Minstrelsy of the Scottish Bard (I), reappear in No Advantages again (see Munro 19, 26). The narrator does exactly the same that the author announced in the foreword, including her remark about the reports on the ancestors that resemble stories. To select one arbitrary example, the author reports in the foreword that Walter Scott had visited her ancestor to gather Scottish ballads (Munro I). In No Advantages, the readers also encounter a narrative how Scott visits one of her ancestors (see Munro 21ff). Thereby, she changes from a homodiegetic I narrator to a heterodiegetic one, as she would tell a story: Walter Scott was an outsider of sorts, an Edinburgh lawyer now appointed to a high post in his family´s traditional territory. (Munro 21). However, she sometimes returns from the family narratives to her starting point as descendant who is keen to explore the life of her ancestors. For instance, the critique of her ancestor on Scott´s way to present her ballads let her drawn following conclusion: Scots are like that. I think. My family was like that (Munro 22). . It seems that the readers bear witness how Munro collects her material to create on her family by reading how the narrator presents and reflects on the life of her Scottish ancestors since she sticks meticulously to the poetic agenda displayed in the foreword. Thus, the autobiographical pact is not only in force if she writes about her research in Scotland but also as she tells stories about the life of her ancestors. The readers are likely to believe that Munro directly speaks to them while her narrations and not to dinstiguish Munro from a narrator created by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Walter Lee Younger s A Raisin In The Sun By Lorraine... The human brain is host to nearly 100 billion neurons, each working to take in and process new information at every and any given moment. Its potential and capacity is beyond that known to man; the brain is the source of everything we have in life. It creates our experiences, perceptions, and makes us who we are by shaping our priorities. One can imagine, then, that such an alive, complicated object would have multiple levels of needs, which shift throughout life in response to different situations or stimuli. This is effectively reflected through Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs. In order from bottom to top, the needs are biological, safety, belongingness/love, esteem, and finally, self actualisation. The most basic needs are at the bottom of the tier, and progressing upward more complex needs are present. Often the perceived need is unattainable, as a simpler category of needs has not been satisfied. In Walter Lee Younger s case, he desperately desires status and wealth, but in his quest for this, he s neglected his family relationships, thus failing to fulfill belongingness and love needs. Ho: CEO power and Leverage have no effect on performance. Ha: CEO power and Leverage have an effect on performance. In order to test this hypothesis, an OLS regression model is used, where the dependent variable is performance and the independent variables include: (1) the existence of powerful CEOs, (2) leverage, (3) the relationship between these two and (4) some control variables. Table 1 summarises all variables included in the regression function and the rationale behind the selection of each one of them. Dependent Variables Empirical researchers use a variety of performance measurements among which stands out the accounting ratio of ROA. Additionally, as the firms objective is increasing value in benefit of its owners, the Tobin s Q ratio is also used as a measure of market value of the firm, following the approach of Morck, Shleifer and Vishny (1988) and Gompers, Ishii and Metrick (2003).
