The Theory Of Crime And Crime
Introduction
The term of crime represent an unlawful act punished by the state. Crime is something that is against
the law. The common use of the term Crime makes it main to define the limitations which construct it
however, doing so is not simply a matter of common sense. There are a number of complex political
and economic forces which help to define crime in practice within a specific society. The most
commonly accepted definition of crime is an act that is capable of being followed by criminal
connections. (w.mccorkle, 1959, p. 46 to 48)
Review of the literature
Criminology focuses on the causes, incidences and control of individual and group criminal behaviour.
In criminology, there are many theories that focus on causal analysis of the crime. They are termed as
the crime causation theories. These theories aim at coming up with certain generalization as to be able
to explain the causal connection between the factors which may lubricate or lead to the existence of
crime in our society and crime itself. The debate on why people commit crime is a difficult one to
settle down. Causation theories in criminology are important as their understanding will help us to
 Understand the factors conducive to crime which will further lead us to
 Draft proficient crime prevention programmed
There are two main schools of thought within criminology, which developed in the middle of the 18th
century i.e. Classical and Chicago. There are however, many other theories in addition to

The Outsiders Book Vs Movie
¨ The Outsiders movie and novel are both very adventurous and extraordinary. They are very similar in
many different ways. However, they are also very different from each other. The movie and novel
share similar qualities. For example, they both have the same deaths that take place at the same
organized time. Ponyboy, Sodapop and Darry s parents die first, then Bob, lastly Johnny and Dally.
When Johnny and Ponyboy killed Bob, the movie and novel both had the same solution. When they
killed Bob, they immediately went to Dally for help and the supplies they would need. Although they
have a whole bunch of similarities, they also have many differences. Although the movie and novel
have many similarities, they have quite a lot of differences

Key Factors For School Wide Behavior
Key Factors for School Wide Behavior Supports
Implementation and Sustainability
Benoit A. Wyble
Texas A M University San Antonio
In the field of education there are many factors that contribute to the success and failures of students
and teachers who work to educate. Of these factors, perhaps one of the most important is in the area of
classroom behavior and behavior management. Behavior management is such an important aspect in
this field that teachers often highlight the frustration of dealing with bad students and bad behaviors as
a leading cause of leaving the profession (Reinke, Herman, Stormont, 2013). Taking on the task of
working to create a system that can be applied to help build a successful learning ... Show more

As mentioned the focus of much of the current research is on identifying those factors that individuals
within education feel are most important to the successful implementation and sustainment of an
effective SWPBIS program. Factors that have been found through the various research to be most
important include administrator support, confidence in SWPBIS, and proper application of data
(Bambara, Goh, Kern, Caskie, 2012; Mathews, McIntosh, Frank, May, 2014; McIntosh, Predy, Upreti,
Hume, Turri, Mathews, 2014; McIntosh, Sterett, Hume, Frank, Turri, Mathews, 2013). Studies have
hypothesized that these factors would be seen singled out as having the biggest impacts. These beliefs
tended to play out within the results of the studies. Administrative support in the form of a strong
school principle and staff buy in were seen to be instrumental in the implementation of a solid
program by the educators who agreed to be surveyed (McIntosh, et al., 2014). The findings showing
that school personnel believe that having a strong school principle who provides for and supports the
use of SWPBIS tends to make sense when viewed from the perspective of leadership. Schools where
staff believe the principle to have strong and effecitve leadership skills score significantly higher
results in student behavior outcomes when SWPBIS is being implemented

Myer s Briggs Type Indicator
Myer s Briggs Type Indicator The Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator is used to create a culture
adapted to the 21st century. We use the Myers Briggs instrument to cultivate a culture of respect. The
Myers Briggs Type Indicator bridges the leadership gap with a comprehensive development program
for crew leaders. Statements above are from some major businesses such as Hallmark, Saint Francis
Care and JetBlue Airlines. So what is the Myers Briggs Type Indicator? How can this help your
company? The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a personality test designed to assist a person in
identifying some significant personal preferences. Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel
Briggs Myers developed the Indicator during World War II, and its criteria follow from Carl Jung s
theories in his work Psychological Types.
What makes this test different from other standardized tests is that this classifies people by preferred
types. According to Myers Briggs Theory, while types and traits are both inborn, traits can be
improved akin to skills, whereas types, if supported by a healthy environment, naturally differentiate
over time. The indicator attempts to tell the order in which this occurs in each person, and it is that
information, combined with interviews done with others who have indicated having the same
preferences, that the complete descriptions are based on. The indicator then, is akin to an arrow which
attempts to point in the direction of the proper description.

Increasing the Approval Ratings for President Obama
What Should I do To Increase My Approval Rating?
Introduction
When my iPhone said The White House I thought it was the local restaurant I had made reservations
over the weekend for my parent s anniversary. There was a very stern voice that said President Obama
needs your opinion on the current approval ratings, please hold for the President of the United States
of America ¦and we thank you for your service ¦ Wow! President Obama wanted advice on how to
improve his approval rating. I laid out my three point plan I have long been advocating throughout the
debates (I have had with my family and friends).
Three Point Plan to Increase Approval Ratings The most critical area of President Obama s approval
rating has to do with the economy. To get America back to work as quickly as possible I proposed he
immediately create new venture economic opportunity zones throughout the U.S., concentrating on
those areas hardest hit by the recession. I d focus specifically on Ohio, which has lost hundreds of
thousands of jobs. My plan would be to roll out entrepreneurial assistance to new ventures with a solid
business plan, and also a strong management team. Creating and fostering entrepreneurialism is
critical for the overall successful functioning of a complex economy such as the U.S. (Trimi, Berbegal
Mirabent, 463). I would tell him that he also needs to become known as the Entrepreneurial
Candidate, concentrating on small business and immediately removing the many barriers

Juan Domingo Perón Essay
Juan Domingo Perón Juan Domingo Perón, born in 1895 in Lobos, Argentina, was the President of
Argentina on two occasions separated by eighteen years. He first came to power by the election of
February 28,1946. He ruled for almost ten years until he was pressured to resign by the Argentine
military and in September of 1955 he left the country. He spent almost the next twenty years in exile
but never lost touch with the Argentine people and especially the Argentine labor movement. In 1973,
after eighteen years of exile, Perón returned to Argentina and was elected president again with his
third wife Isabel as vice president. His power as a ruler came out of the special connection that he
made with the working classes and unions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These labor forces developed such tremendous loyalty to Juan Perón as a result of his special brand of
politics which provided that the economic solvency of the working class was the biggest priority of
the government. Organized labor in Argentina before the golpe of 1943 was in a state of constant
change and motion. Beginning with the golpe de estado that overthrew president Hipolito Yrigoyen in
September of 1930, the political climate of Argentina was a turmoiltuous backdrop for the labor
movement. The formation of the Conferatción General del Trabajo [CGT] took place in the same year.
The CGT was a conglomerate of the largest labor unions in the country, like railroad workers unions,
construction workers unions and textile workers unions. This marked the beginning of a new type of
unionization. The unions that formed between 1930 and 1943 were not only larger and more directed
at labor than trades, but they were willing to cooperate with the government. They were bread and
butter unions, now less interested in being in opposition to the state because they had gotten into
industries that required more cooperation with the government like railroads for example. (Barager,
1968) The unions started to establish some general trends in their practices in terms of labor
management relations. The basic foundations for these relations were collective bargaining and trade
union social insurance, which Perón later adapted for his own use. The social

Going full speed. With faulty breaks. My family takes occasional vacations to Portugal about every 2
3 years. We own a home there that looks like a any kind of family could live there. The house didn t
have any signs of our family in it. There were no photographs or or memorabilia. The furniture in the
house were old pieces that were about to thrown away from family members living. In the basement
there are clay bricks and rough concrete. There are fluorescent lights that flicker for 3 seconds to fully
turn on, the kind you would see in a movie when they go to show the hero the object that has been in

house, where my mother and grandmother were. We descend down into the basement and activate the
hero scene. We mount our bikes and ride through the American flag hanging like a large banner in our
basement as a form of good luck. We go up the steep slope from the basement up through the
driveway. We prepare for our 3 mile voyage and go through winding roads. The landscape of our
region featured tree farms comprised of mostly eucalyptus trees, miles long vineyards on varying hills
expanding into the horizon, and the frequent parked tractor where an old couple would be caring for
their land. In order to get to the village my grandmother s house was in, we needed to cross through a
road that went down the middle of these vineyards. There are several

Heat Capacity Lab Report
This experiment was dealing with the heating of water with different types and sizes of metals. In it
you had to deal with heat capacity. Heat capacity is the amount of heat (normally expressed in
calories, kilocalories, or joules) to raise a substances temperature by one (1) degree (normally
expressed in Celsius or Kelvin). With the answer expressed in units of thermal energy per degree
temperature. With substances having certain specific dimensions you can use to types of heat capacity,
Molar Heat Capacity and Specific Heat Capacity.
Molar Heat Capacity is the amount of heat needed to raise the heat, of one (1) mole of a substance, by
one degree Celsius. This is expressed in joules per moles per degrees Celsius (or Kelvin). For example

Because the amount of heat lost by one substances should be equal to the amount of heat gained by
another substance. This would be very nice when conducting experiments involving temperature.
However, the calorimeter absorbs some of the heat that comes from the reaction. Because of this,
when using a coffee cup calorimeter like in this experiment it must be taken into account that the data
may not be one hundred percent accurate.
The purpose of this experiment was to find the specific heat of zinc (Zn) metal. This was done
performing the experiment. Using a coffee cup calorimeter filled with water you took the temperature
of the water both before and after it was placed into the calorimeter. After taking the metal out it was
massed. And finally calculations were done to find the specific heat of zinc (Zn) metal.
This may seem like an easy experiment on the outside but their are some terms that may not be know.

types of energy. Joules also play a role in calories. A calorie (in this case a gram calorie)is the amount
of heat needed to raise one (1) gram of water one (1) degree. One (1) calorie (c) is equal to 4.1858
joules and one joule is equal to 0.23890

Privacy Is The Appropriate Word Of Privacy From A German...
Privacy in German Culture Dignity over liberty is the appropriate phrase to depict the essence of
privacy from a German perspective. Stemming from roots dating back to the mid 12th Century,
Germans erected a common ideology of individual realization that has become a universal standard of
its people. Unlike many Western civilizations, Germans digest privacy as a personality upholding
construct, rather than an oppressive act of rights enforced by the government. Anything that seemingly
inhibits or defiles one s personal character is considered an invasion of privacy. While being especially
relevant during the divided prowess of the Berlin wall, East and West Germany displayed an intrusion
of privacy that was exclusive to its style of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both sects had negative preconceived notions of the other which increased the overall state of
paranoia. As a result, both parties performed similar, yet, very different infractions of privacy. In
Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck s film The Lives of Others, gives the audience a fresh perspective
of privacy from an Eastern Perspective. This film takes place in 1983 East Berlin. Weisler, a member
of the Stasi forces, was assigned to spy on a distinguished playwright, Georg Dreyman. While
Dreyman currently placed under government suspicion, Weisler is ordered to dig deeper for more
information about his personal life. While Dreyman was away, Wisler and his forces broke into his
apartment and bugged every room. Afterwards, Wisler threatens Dreyman s neighbor to not tell
anyone what she saw. If she does, she may be subject to dire consequences. This scene is especially
important because exemplifies the amount of power the Stasi had during that time. If there is any
suspicion about a particular individual, there would be relentless efforts of which to obtain
information. Another example of this occurrence, is when Weisler loses his job as a spy and is forced
to work in the mailroom. Wisler and his colleagues are primarily responsible for checking every letter
that comes through Eastern Germany. Anything deemed as a potential threat would be thrown out or
reported immediately. This scene illustrates the level of

Freedom of Speech vs. Censorship on the Internet
Freedom of Speech Vs. Censorship:
Children on the Internet
The internet is a very controversial communication device in today s society. If desired, one could find
information on nearly any topic they choose. Censorship and free speech is a widely discussed topic
when dealing with the current freedom of the internet especially when dealing with young minds.
Should the internet have censored topics which would be illegal to post and/or view freely by
children? Should the internet be a free for all arena in which anyone could do as they wish without
judgment of others opinions and views imposing on their own? So far in class and in the text Gift of

As a result of this and the international span of the internet, it is hard for the FCC to be an overseer of
the medium. Certain controversial laws have attempted to set in place regulations that censor ethically
and socially dubious materials from publication on the web. The topic that has been at the forefront of
debate deals with obscene materials. This is a heated topic because the definition of obscenity is very
vague and subject to interpretation. What is considered to be obscene can be viewed very differently
depending on ones personal morals, beliefs, and values. For example, a parent who is highly religious
and living in the United States may view nudity on cable television as obscene and pornographic for
their child to view, while a person with the same religious beliefs living in Europe or another part of
the world may just view this as art or entertainment. This is due to the difference in societal views on
obscenity.
To get to the root of what is considered obscene, a test for judging obscene material was set in the case
of Miller v. California. This modern test for obscenity consists of three parts: (1) the proscribed
material must depict or describe sexual conduct in a patently offensive way, (2) the conduct must be
specifically described in the law, and (3) the work must,

Vittorio de Sica s The Bicycle Thief Essay
Vittorio de Sica s The Bicycle Thief
Since the beginning of its existence as a country, Italy has faced enormous challenges in establishing
itself as a unified political and social entity. The geographic, economic, and linguistic differences
between its various regions and the artificial manner in which they were amalgamated created a legacy
of internal divisions that continues to dominate the country s political climate to this day. Italy s
numerous historical fiascoes, such as its disastrous involvement in the two World Wars and the rise of
fascism, further escalated the domestic problems that had haunted it since the Risorgimento. At first,
the anti fascist Resistance movement, which dominated the end of World War II, seemed to ... Show

Originally applied to the government of Agostino Depretis in the 1880s, transformismo quickly
became equated with any ethically questionable, self interested actions taken by public officials purely
for the sake of staying in office and maintaining power. This often manifested itself in the creation of a
smoke screen of reformatory rhetoric intended to satisfy the electorate, without a subsequent
introduction of any real reforms. The colonialist manner in which Piedmont annexed the other regions
to create a united Italy during the Risorgimento and the divisions inherent in the new kingdom
resulted in a historical compromise that made any deliberate social change very difficult.
Consequently, Italian leaders of the destra storica and sinistra storica (the first two eras of Italian
political history) shifted their focus from meaningful governance to the practice of transformismo,
permanently shaping the face of Italian political life. The prevailing motto of this practice was
captured perfectly in a line from Luchino Visconti s 1963 film, The Leopard: Things must change in
order to stay the same.
Attendismo, the other type of quasi action, was a tendency of the leftist Italian parties to passively
wait for change to occur from the outside, without taking any substantial revolutionary action on their
own. The Socialist Party s slogan No support, but no

Notable alumni include actors Robert Redford and Martin Landau, William Van Alen, the architect of
the Chrysler Building, fashion designers Norman Norell, Betsey Johnson and Jeremy Scott, and artists
George Segal and Juan Munoz. The early days at Pratt were not as popular as it is today and the first
day of class had only 12 students enrolled in its drawing classes. Charles Pratt was not worried about
the low numbers and famously said that, if we do right by the 12, we may have 13 next week, and if
we do right by 13, we may have 14 the week after, and that is the way to grow. He was rights and just
five months later enrollment had grown to 307 students who were doing classes ranging from
stenography to sewing and a few months later that number had grown even more to 1,500 students.
Unfortunately Charles Pratt only lived for four more years, but his vision was passed on to his sons
who were all involved in running the school over the next years. Over the years, the curriculum has
been reworked and brought up to date to reflect the demands of the industries and new faculty
members are brought in to modernize courses and keep the education that the Pratt Institute offers
relevant and current. An example of this realization that the content of the curriculum should be
constantly updated to reflect new ideas is in the Industrial Design department when in 1936 industrial
design legends Alexander Kostellow and Rowena Reed were invited to join the faculty of the new
industrial design program, and so doing they revolutionized the education for first year students by
introducing a new curriculum of Design and Structure incorporating abstract elements that came from

Formal And Informal Place Setting
Chances are you ve been taught some form of dining etiquette beginning at a young age. You probably
remember your parents telling you, Don t eat with your mouth full, Keep your elbows off of the table,
or Don t play with grandpa s teeth at the dinner table! What you probably didn t realize is your parents
were conditioning you on how to act at the dinner table in social situations, and possibly most
important, in the business world. If you re planning on a career in business, the probability of being
invited to an informal lunch interview or a formal dinner is likely. In the following paragraphs, I will
describe the differences between a formal and informal place setting, and explain some of the do s and
do not s of proper dining etiquette in a business setting. First of all, arrive to the dinner on time,
always dress for the occasion, and remember the host is in charge. If seating is assigned, look for the
place card with your name on it. The place card is typically located at the center of the dinner plate, or
just above it on the table. If there are no place cards, wait for the host to direct you to your assigned
seat. Let the host sit down before you unless they tell you to first. Once seated, pick up your napkin,
fold it in half, and lay it across your lap. Make sure the napkin fold is away from you so when you use
it any crumbs on the napkin will fall to the floor and not on you. Second, take notice of the place
setting. It s a good indicator whether the dinner

American president, foreign policy, etc. unfortunately this song hasn t been included in any shows or
films that I know of, but according to Wikipedia, the song was used as a theme song for the internet
hacker group Anonymous. This song was Lupe Fiascos way of expressing his dislike of the current
United States government. He uses many controversial subjects like terrorism and foreign policy to
get his point across. By doing so he shows his listeners the corruptness of the country. For example in
his song he states crooked banks around the world would gladly give a loan today, so if you ever miss
a payment they can take your home away. (Fiasco) in this part of his song, he explains to us how
corrupt banks scheme to make a quick profit at the expense of one of their customers who can t afford
it. The song was written as a wakeup call for the people. Lupe has realized that people have the power
to say what they want but are silenced by the government. He tries to show this to the people in the

Martin Luther King Rhetorical Analysis
Entitled Hierarchy We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to do right,
petitioned Nelson Mandela. Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. knew the essence of time in Birmingham
Alabama, 1963. He brought to his audience ideals of abolishing segregation that thrived in the South
and proactively sought to make change. Using a library of rhetorical devices, such as allusions, pathos,
and similes, King connected his reader to the things he had to address. King felt it very vital to address
the wrongdoing s of the prejudice South. In so, he makes a lot of allusions to religious ideals, to
connect these people with their religious wrongdoing. With religious allusions, Doctor king was able
to put a new take on segregation. In paragraph 3, he timed this phrase, Injustice anywhere is a threat to
injustice everywhere. Making the point, just because in one part of the country there is racism,
segregation, prejudice, etc., this could lead to something much worse: Segregation everywhere.
Stopping the prejudice now could make a positive impact on future generations, which king petitioned
and managed to do. In paragraph 3, king dedicates the entire paragraph to comparing himself to the
apostles, carrying the word of God. He uses this to not only compare himself to these prophets, but to
show he too will carry his word. King s word is not only of God, but to abolish the old prejudice and
segregation of the South; also to go at any length to fulfill this dream. In

The Role Of Periodontitis As A Risk Factor For Systemic...
Introduction
In this research paper, I will be writing about Periodontitis as a risk factor for Systemic Diseases. It
has been known that some systemic diseases alter the presentation and progression of periodontal
disease. Evidence suggests that periodontal disease may play a role as a risk factor in developing and
management of a serious systemic disease. Periodontal infections have been implicated in
cardiovascular disease, preterm and low birth weight infants, and bacterial pneumonia. In addition, it
appears to be more difficult to control non insulin dependent diabetes in patients with severe

Mucosal ulceration, dental disease and other tooth abnormalities, oral soft tissue tumors, periodontal

systemic disease. Numerous orofacial signs and symptoms are associated with systemic disease. The
most serious problems of concern to dental professionals include caries, oral ulcers, mucosal erythema

Personal Reflection
As I was reading this book, I kept having awe moments because I have either seen the material
covered in real time or have thought about it. Out of the five career strategy components, the two that
stood out for me were extending experiences and networking/connecting. Reflecting on my
educational and professional career, these two themes have been the most relevant.
Extending experiences When I graduated from UC Santa Barbara (UCSB), I expected to get a job
within the month. I believed that by simply having my degree I would stand out from the group, little
did I know this was completely false. I had a resume with little experience and realized it was my lack
of previous experiences that would haunt me. In addition to having little experience, I never visited a
career counselor at UCSB to assist me with the proper structure of a resume and cover letter. Feeling
unprepared and disappointed at myself about how I used my time while at UCSB, I fell into a minor
depression. After every denial email from employers, my depression grew. However, it was one
experience that truly shaped my job search perception. I applied to any and every job in the market
and got the opportunity to interview for AT T for a clerk position. Going into the job interview I had
high hopes because I knew I had the discipline. When I entered the office where the interview was

Michelle Obama said, [one] may not always have a comfortable life and will not always be able to
solve all of the world s problems at once, but do not ever underestimate the importance [one] can have
because history has shown [people] that courage can be contagious and hope can take on a life of its
own (CITE). The novel Famous Last Words by Timothy Findley is a novel about Hugh Selwyn
Mauberley, a well known, but disliked, writer who has written many books about the struggles faced
while living through the corruption of World War Two and motivation that was necessary to persevere.

In the novel, Mauberley uses religion to find hope after escaping an attack on a train. Mauberley has
been walking for days on end, trying to find a safe refuge. Soon, finding a safe place turn into an
impossible option, and Mauberley begins to give up. All that is needed to be done is climb a mountain
to get to the Grand Elsyium Hotel, but Mauberley [can]not even think of climbing, (23 24). However,
before giving up, Mauberley prays, (24). The next day, Mauberley successfully [makes] way into the
courtyard of the Grand Elsyium Hotel, (25). This is important because Mauberley is close to giving up
and allowing himself to die before finding the hotel. However, after praying, Mauberley is able to get
up and climb the mountain successfully to safety. This is only possible because of the knowledge that
God will always be there. After praying, Mauberley gains the motivation needed to successfully make
it up the mountain to security. Similarly in The Shawshank Redemption, Andy gains a sense of hope
through reading the Bible. Andy is creating a hole in the wall behind a poster of Rita Hayworth in the
cell. Andy knows that the hole must not be found, and also knows that Warden Samuel Norton is
highly religious. Therefore, before a routine check up starts, Andy starts to read the Bible. Due to this,
Norton gains a newfound respect and appreciation for Andy, so after seeing the poster, the warden
knows that the poster cannot be approved of. But, supposes exceptions can be made (Darabont).
Likewise, in the article, individuals with chronic pain are interviewed about ways that hope is
maintained. In fact, one of the patients, Amalia, turns towards faith. Amalia shares that belief in faith
helps to heal the mind and soul, despite the physical pain of the illness. In fact, Amalia is taking
classes in spiritual healing, (Eaves) at the

The Effects Of Google And Its Impact On The Global Community
Trudging through an endless landscape of impossibly thick mud and making as little progress as a
boulder could once be compared to the painstaking task called research. However, as technology has
advanced, humanity has innovated endless global networks of connections to bring the world to the
fingertips of society. One of these is the infinite tool known as Google. While some of today s society
is somewhat skeptical of the overwhelming expansion of the Internet, companies such as Google have
not only provided efficiency, but have guaranteed a future of advancement and vast knowledge
throughout the global community. As minds of mankind have fashioned pioneering technology
throughout history, they have always been met with some criticism; however, countless numbers of
them have succeeded in the face of doubt. Nicholas Carr wrote an article about the effects of Google,
and relates to these historical events. [After] The arrival of Gutenberg s printing press...Italian
Humanist Hieronimo Squarciafico worried that the easy availability of books would lead to
intellectual laziness, making men less studious and weakening their minds . Although those around
Gutenberg were skeptical of the effects his innovation may cause on society, books actually brought
forth a new age of intelligence and more access to learning. The use of the Internet spreads like a
common cold, and many fear its massive existence. However, Carr realizes that Google may turn out
to be beneficial to us all.

Essay about Violence in Greasy Lake and The Things They...
Both Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried and T. Coraghessan Boyle s Greasy Lake display

Lake, he and his friends mistakenly hassle a stranger and his girlfriend. Instead of apologizing for the

beating the stranger unconscious. The rage and violence of this attack does not end here. The main

Every opportunity for violence encountered by the main character is met with open arms. In The

Cross, while seeking comfort in his imagination, allows one of his men to be shot and killed. His lack
of security led to an unnecessary casualty: [Cross] hated himself. He had loved Martha more than his

Use of Performance Enhancing Substances by Athletes is Wrong
What would you be willing to do to become a professional athlete? This is a question that demands
more than a fleeting thought, because not only will becoming a successful professional athlete bring
you millions of dollars, but you will achieve fame, fortune and worldwide recognition. Along with that
you will be getting paid a lot to do something that you really love and enjoy.
It seems like professional athletes have it all. They are as worshipped as movie stars, allowed to act
like rock stars and always seem to age gracefully after their sports careers are over. So perhaps the

Supplements are intended to help out an athlete in areas where there may exist a deficiency. This could
be a lack of protein, creatine or even testosterone. And because of this any substance taken to correct a
deficiency could be considered a supplement to the athlete s diet even the multi vitamin he takes with
breakfast.
Sport supplementation has become a multi billion dollar industry that has seen its biggest growth in
the last five years and shows no signs of slowing down. It used to be difficult for someone to get
supplements, but now you can find things like Ephridirne, which has been banned by the NCAA, in
corner stores.
The main goal of the supplement industry is to produce legal alternatives to steroids. Sport
supplements come in all shapes, sizes, flavors and forms. And in the United States, the only guidelines
that need to be followed are those within the Hatch Act. According to the Hatch Act, in order for any
supplement to be legal it only needs to be found in a compound that exists in nature. So what you end
up with are legal and illegal supplements, but within the legal supplements you have many categories.
It has to be said that neither supplements nor steroids can make an athlete great by themselves. Any
supplement used without a workout routine will produce no results. This is similar

Latin America Metaphors
Solitude is more than a state of being alone; it is recognizing the fact that the individuals whom one
introduces to their environment will never learn to accept their differences. It is being aware that
positive things will never be satisfiable enough to gratify those around you. Gabriel Garcia Marquez, a
Colombian author, illustrated the ideal picture of solitude in Latin America though his words he
expressed in his Nobel Prize speech. Gabriel Marquez lived his childhood in a small isolated town in
Columbia alongside his grandparents. Marquez was rudely denied a VISA to the United States due to
his thoughts about the U.S military. However, Marquez was still able to publish and sell millions of
copies of his novel 100 Years of Solitude which later became the second most read book in Latin
America, following the Bible. In Gabriel Garcia Marquez s Nobel Prize speech, The Solitude of Latin
America, he uses the term solitude as a metaphor for Latin America through negative stereotypes from
other countries and Latin America s geographic isolation.
Initially, Latin America endures solitude as a result from the negative stereotypes they face from other
countries based on inferred connotations from past actions. The chief faction that interrogates Latin
America for their differences are the Europeans leaders who Have thought so, with the childishness of
old timers who have forgotten the fruitful excess of their youth (Marquez 3). Latin America has been

Unbroken Short Story
WWII will remain as one of the most tragic wars of all time. With an astounding death toll of over 60
million people 3% of the world s population in 1940. In the books Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand,
and Night by Elie Wiesel the horrors of WWII are told in detail about the main characters near death
experiences. Hope is a defining factor throughout the journeys of main characters Louie and Eliezer.
The theme of hope in the face of adversity is a theme common to both stories. No matter how dire the
situation may seem, there is always hope to be found.
In Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, there is much to say about the ordeal and odyssey about Louie the
main character. Louie was an Olympic runner who was brutalized as a prisoner of war in Japan and
was stranded on a raft for 47 days. There is no way he should have survived the horrific times he had
endured, but he did. There were plenty of trials and tribulations that could have made Louie give up,
but the worst was being stranded on a raft only to be found by the Japanese and thrown into a POW
camp. During these times Louie was sick, starving, and being tortured by a sadistic guard they called
the Bird. With small acts of defiance, he was able to preserve his dignity and persevere to make it
through, even though every time he passed one obstacle, he felt there were thousands more. Laura
Hillenbrand then states The same attributes that had made [Louie] the boy terror of Torrance were
keeping him alive in the greatest struggle

The Paradox Of A Paradox
Introduction
A paradox is a statement or idea that is contradictory in nature giving opposing meanings at the same
time. The use of paradoxes has been employed to engage readers to be part of the story or poem;
readers are tempted to pay more attention. There are direct types of paradoxes ranging from situational
paradoxes to verbal paradoxes. Most literature deals with situational paradoxes as well of verbal
paradoxes depending on what the writer wants to share.
Veridical paradox usually describes a situation that is logically true although it may sound ridiculous.
On the other hand, a falsidical paradox presents a problem that usually uses incorrect assumptions to
justify an, otherwise, wrong results. An antimony paradox is a self referential paradox lays out a set of
conditions and then asks a question, the resolution of which becomes self contradictory, resulting to
lack of a valid answer. On the other hand, a dialetheia paradox claims that opposite statements can be
both simultaneously true.
In the book Fifth Walk, the Rousseau has employed numerous paradoxes that are focused on his
personality and his state of solitude. There is substantial number of paradoxes that the writer has
employed most of which focus on his state of solitude. In the story, the writer narrates how he wished
he could stay longer than just two months. He further regrets that he should have stayed for two
centuries or the whole eternity in the island. A paradox is revealed where he mentions that

Archetypes In The Book Thief
the Odd One Out In 1939
Lots of children of Communists and Jews are given up during World War II, mainly because it would
be safer to live away from Germany and other countries that have been invaded. In the novel, The
Book Thief, Liesel and Werner the children of communist parents are left by their own mother and
taken in by the Hubermann family. On the way to Munich, Germany, Liesel s brother dies. As a result,
the scared 8 year old is left with two strangers, a compassionate foster father and a repetitively
swearing foster mother that shows her love alternatively. Markus Zusak uses symbolism and the

Every night, she wakes up from the first interaction with death, and sees Hans sitting in a chair instead
of the empty bed, reinforcing that she s not alone, Shhh, I m here, it s all right (Zusak 36). As a result
of being abandoned by her biological family, Liesel discovers comfort by having someone care for
her. Soon after, this becomes a routine but one night is different Liesel s nightmare is the same, she
relieves the night of her brother s death. The girl who woke up in the middle of the night wet her bed,
her papa holds her until he too, notices the smell coming from under the sheets which causes him to
change her sheets and he finds a book that she picks up during her brother s funeral. Hans, the kind
person he is, asked if Liesel who had recently wet her bed, wants to read the book. She replies yes,
after that night Liesel learns how to read. This event symbolizes Hans letting Liesel grieve over her
brother, instead of sitting into the empty bed that is originally for Werner, he sits in a chair and
watches over her. Since the young girl and her foster father are extremely close, they both teach each
other ways of rebelling. Hans is teaching Liesel to read, she continuously practices reading, the book

books. During this time in Germany, the Nazi s burn many books Jewish authors write. Hitler
prohibits any reading of books other than the the Mein Kampf. As a result of the constant book
burnings, most books are exceptionally hard to find or buy. Thus Liesel is very careful when she finds
a book on the street. The consistent desire to read leads her to rebel in ways that will eventually
destroy her family. Meanwhile, Liesel encourages Hans to remember his past and be truthful about the
promises he made in the moments of crisis. Such as, promising a widow a shelter for her child. As a

Selective Breeding Research Paper
Selective Breeding is the process through which plants and animals with certain traits are bred
together to produce an offspring with desired traits. In other words, the process in which humans
choose the traits which they want in a plant or animal, and they breed them hoping for a plant which
can grow bigger, or maybe an animal which can be stronger. Selective Breeding is all about the
inheritance of genes and alleles. Scientists may breed individuals to their desired traits, whilst also
being aware of possible recessive genes. Chromosomes which carry genetic codes for an organism,
determine the features and characteristics of that organism. Each organism has different features and

With dogs, selective breeding is of benefit so we can breed out diseases and breed dogs for different
purposes. Selective breeding in general means we can breed cows which can produce more milk or
chickens which can lay more eggs, because with a growing population we do need more food, this is
another reason as to way selective breeding is ethical in general as it is one of the buggiest advantages.
Selective breeding could be considered in ethical when used to cross breed dogs just for a cuter
appearance, whereas cross breeding dogs to make it stronger and faster is ethical and more beneficial
for dogs. This has a positive impact on society as dogs and in general selective breeding has many
benefits on people.
In conclusion, selective breeding does have its general advantages of eliminating diseases, removing
undesired traits, and an increased population, to also having it advantages in selective breeding in
dogs. But it can also have it disadvantages of animal discomfort, no control over the genes, and it can
also be time consuming and can risk inbreeding of organisms, and also having further disadvantages
in dogs, but it is done correctly and efficiently, selective breeding can make a big difference, to genes,
and the future generations of plants and animals

the lady, instead of leading me to the ferocious man eating tiger? Why would she want me to be with
another woman whom she thinks is dire? I cannot go through with this barbaric decision. In one
instant, the young man turns swiftly to look back at the Princess, who is staring at him with fear and
softly mouthing to him, Choose the right door. He disregards her and turns to the left door, which is
latched by an enormous silver lever and he opens it with ease. While the young man tries to see

The crowd gasps and cheers as the young man and the beating red tiger s eyes meet. The man s palms

him as if it was amusing, but the princess is nowhere in sight. As the young man starts to scan the

Cause And Effect Of Jfk Assassination
One of the most tragic moments in U.S. history happened before the naked eye. John F. Kennedy s
brutal assassination. Lee Harvey Oswald was the suspected assassin, but why would a former U.S
marine kill the president of the country he went to war for? Assassination means murdered for
political reasons. I believe that Kennedy s assassination was part of a much bigger plot, carried out by
more than just one lone assassin, and was planned well prior. Oswald was just an easy mark to pin the
crime on, he was set up, ...most likely by the CIA,who he was speculated to be a member of. (Morley)

only wanted to better this country? There was there a much bigger picture.

Indonesia s Human Development Strategies
In order to maintain a vibrant and fully functioning national economy, industrialized countries across
the globe strive to create a manufacturing infrastructure capable of producing quality products for
global export. From timber and cotton in the 19th century to mechanized goods and tools in decades
after, the United States has always positioned itself as one of the most productive nations on the
planet, building and shipping on a monumental scale to serve the ceaseless cycle of supply and
demand. This legacy of production has been fundamentally altered, however, as the 21st century has
dawned, with American corporations continuing the human resources trend of outsourcing jobs to
overseas markets as a component of their overall cost reduction strategy. While traditional outsourcing
destinations like China and India have captured much of the major media attention domestically, the
ascendency of Indonesia as a viable location for multinational corporations cannot be ignored. When
the cumulative data regarding Indonesia s rising rates of literacy and educational attainment are
considered in conjunction with national increases in life expectancy and other indicators of overall
health conditions (The World Bank, 2012), it becomes strikingly clear that this country has positioned
itself perfectly in terms of developing the human capital which is so vitally necessary for expanding
businesses. The wealth of empirical evidence on the effectiveness of modern human resource

The common use of the term Crime makes it main to define the limitations which construct it however, doing so is not simply a matter of common sense. There are a number of complex political and economic forces which help to define crime in practice within a specific society. The most commonly accepted definition of crime is an act that is capable of being followed by criminal connections. (w.mccorkle, 1959, p. 46 to 48) Review of the literature Criminology focuses on the causes, incidences and control of individual and group criminal behaviour. In criminology, there are many theories that focus on causal analysis of the crime. They are termed as the crime causation theories. These theories aim at coming up with certain generalization as to be able to explain the causal connection between the factors which may lubricate or lead to the existence of crime in our society and crime itself. The debate on why people commit crime is a difficult one to settle down. Of these factors, perhaps one of the most important is in the area of classroom behavior and behavior management. Behavior management is such an important aspect in this field that teachers often highlight the frustration of dealing with bad students and bad behaviors as a leading cause of leaving the profession (Reinke, Herman, Stormont, 2013). As mentioned the focus of much of the current research is on identifying those factors that individuals within education feel are most important to the successful implementation and sustainment of an effective SWPBIS program. Factors that have been found through the various research to be most important include administrator support, confidence in SWPBIS, and proper application of data (Bambara, Goh, Kern, Caskie, 2012; Mathews, McIntosh, Frank, May, 2014; McIntosh, Predy, Upreti, Hume, Turri, Mathews, 2014; McIntosh, Sterett, Hume, Frank, Turri, Mathews, 2013). Studies have hypothesized that these factors would be seen singled out as having the biggest impacts. These beliefs tended to play out within the results of the studies. Administrative support in the form of a strong school principle and staff buy in were seen to be instrumental in the implementation of a solid program by the educators who agreed to be surveyed (McIntosh, et al., 2014). The findings showing that school personnel believe that having a strong school principle who provides for and supports the use of SWPBIS tends to make sense when viewed from the perspective of leadership. • 5. Myer s Briggs Type Indicator Myer s Briggs Type Indicator The Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator is used to create a culture adapted to the 21st century. We use the Myers Briggs instrument to cultivate a culture of respect. The Myers Briggs Type Indicator bridges the leadership gap with a comprehensive development program for crew leaders. Statements above are from some major businesses such as Hallmark, Saint Francis Care and JetBlue Airlines. So what is the Myers Briggs Type Indicator? How can this help your company? The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a personality test designed to assist a person in identifying some significant personal preferences. Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers developed the Indicator during World War II, and its criteria follow from Carl Jung s theories in his work Psychological Types. What makes this test different from other standardized tests is that this classifies people by preferred types. According to Myers Briggs Theory, while types and traits are both inborn, traits can be improved akin to skills, whereas types, if supported by a healthy environment, naturally differentiate over time. The indicator attempts to tell the order in which this occurs in each person, and it is that information, combined with interviews done with others who have indicated having the same preferences, that the complete descriptions are based on. The indicator then, is akin to an arrow which attempts to point in the direction of the proper description. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Increasing the Approval Ratings for President Obama What Should I do To Increase My Approval Rating? Introduction When my iPhone said The White House I thought it was the local restaurant I had made reservations over the weekend for my parent s anniversary. There was a very stern voice that said President Obama needs your opinion on the current approval ratings, please hold for the President of the United States of America ¦and we thank you for your service ¦ Wow! President Obama wanted advice on how to improve his approval rating. I laid out my three point plan I have long been advocating throughout the debates (I have had with my family and friends). Three Point Plan to Increase Approval Ratings The most critical area of President Obama s approval rating has to do with the economy. To get America back to work as quickly as possible I proposed he immediately create new venture economic opportunity zones throughout the U.S., concentrating on those areas hardest hit by the recession. I d focus specifically on Ohio, which has lost hundreds of thousands of jobs. My plan would be to roll out entrepreneurial assistance to new ventures with a solid business plan, and also a strong management team. Creating and fostering entrepreneurialism is critical for the overall successful functioning of a complex economy such as the U.S. (Trimi, Berbegal Mirabent, 463). Organized labor in Argentina before the golpe of 1943 was in a state of constant change and motion. Beginning with the golpe de estado that overthrew president Hipolito Yrigoyen in September of 1930, the political climate of Argentina was a turmoiltuous backdrop for the labor movement. The formation of the Conferatción General del Trabajo [CGT] took place in the same year. The CGT was a conglomerate of the largest labor unions in the country, like railroad workers unions, construction workers unions and textile workers unions. This marked the beginning of a new type of unionization. The unions that formed between 1930 and 1943 were not only larger and more directed at labor than trades, but they were willing to cooperate with the government. They were bread and butter unions, now less interested in being in opposition to the state because they had gotten into industries that required more cooperation with the government like railroads for example. (Barager, 1968) The unions started to establish some general trends in their practices in terms of labor management relations. The basic foundations for these relations were collective bargaining and trade union social insurance, which Perón later adapted for his own use. The social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Privacy in German Culture Dignity over liberty is the appropriate phrase to depict the essence of privacy from a German perspective. Stemming from roots dating back to the mid 12th Century, Germans erected a common ideology of individual realization that has become a universal standard of its people. Unlike many Western civilizations, Germans digest privacy as a personality upholding construct, rather than an oppressive act of rights enforced by the government. Certain controversial laws have attempted to set in place regulations that censor ethically and socially dubious materials from publication on the web. The topic that has been at the forefront of debate deals with obscene materials. This is a heated topic because the definition of obscenity is very vague and subject to interpretation. What is considered to be obscene can be viewed very differently depending on ones personal morals, beliefs, and values. For example, a parent who is highly religious and living in the United States may view nudity on cable television as obscene and pornographic for their child to view, while a person with the same religious beliefs living in Europe or another part of the world may just view this as art or entertainment. This is due to the difference in societal views on obscenity. To get to the root of what is considered obscene, a test for judging obscene material was set in the case of Miller v. California. This modern test for obscenity consists of three parts: (1) the proscribed material must depict or describe sexual conduct in a patently offensive way, (2) the conduct must be specifically described in the law, and (3) the work must, ... Originally applied to the government of Agostino Depretis in the 1880s, transformismo quickly became equated with any ethically questionable, self interested actions taken by public officials purely for the sake of staying in office and maintaining power. The colonialist manner in which Piedmont annexed the other regions to create a united Italy during the Risorgimento and the divisions inherent in the new kingdom resulted in a historical compromise that made any deliberate social change very difficult. Consequently, Italian leaders of the destra storica and sinistra storica (the first two eras of Italian political history) shifted their focus from meaningful governance to the practice of transformismo, permanently shaping the face of Italian political life. The prevailing motto of this practice was captured perfectly in a line from Luchino Visconti s 1963 film, The Leopard: Things must change in order to stay the same. The place card is typically located at the center of the dinner plate, or just above it on the table. If there are no place cards, wait for the host to direct you to your assigned seat. Let the host sit down before you unless they tell you to first. Once seated, pick up your napkin, fold it in half, and lay it across your lap. Making the point, just because in one part of the country there is racism, segregation, prejudice, etc., this could lead to something much worse: Segregation everywhere. Stopping the prejudice now could make a positive impact on future generations, which king petitioned and managed to do. In paragraph 3, king dedicates the entire paragraph to comparing himself to the apostles, carrying the word of God. • 38. Indonesia s Human Development Strategies In order to maintain a vibrant and fully functioning national economy, industrialized countries across the globe strive to create a manufacturing infrastructure capable of producing quality products for global export. From timber and cotton in the 19th century to mechanized goods and tools in decades after, the United States has always positioned itself as one of the most productive nations on the planet, building and shipping on a monumental scale to serve the ceaseless cycle of supply and demand. While traditional outsourcing destinations like China and India have captured much of the major media attention domestically, the ascendency of Indonesia as a viable location for multinational corporations cannot be ignored. When the cumulative data regarding Indonesia s rising rates of literacy and educational attainment are considered in conjunction with national increases in life expectancy and other indicators of overall health conditions (The World Bank, 2012), it becomes strikingly clear that this country has positioned itself perfectly in terms of developing the human capital which is so vitally necessary for expanding businesses.
