Gender Differences In The United States
Introduction
Across the world, it has been noticed that women are the minority in society. The United States (US)
is a prime example; women in the US are more likely to have low paying jobs, undergo domestic
abuse, and encounter sexual harassment in any situation. Men, on the other hand, are the ideal in the
US: higher paying jobs and head of household. Women face many obstacles when trying to achieve
due to our social norms. These norms accumulate the different characteristics of the genders;
furthermore, it is based off what society perceives as accurate for a male or female in many situations.
There is general agreement that there are gender differences in various things. Many studies have been
done on gender differences in: conversational style, education, wages at work, body politics, etc.
These studies indicate how females are rapport (indirect) talkers and men are reported (direct) talkers
when it comes to having a conversation, how women s education is focused on English, home
economics, and reading, how men and women money face a gap in the work setting, and how women
are sexualized in any setting placed. These cross studies conclude that women are striving to change
the stereotype, but the social norms will continue to compare and contrast, everything there is to a

In prior studies, leadership roles have been based off one s sex instead of gender. According to Park,
male gender qualities characterized as; aggressive, independent, objective, logical, rational, analytical,
decisive, confident, assertive, ambitious, opportunistic and impersonal are distinguished from female
gender qualities described as; emotional, sensitive, expressive, cooperative, intuitive, warm, tactful,
receptive to ideas, talkative, gentle, empathetic, and submissive (p. 12). These characteristics brings
up the notion of how women pursue being leaders because they are opposite of men who dominates

My Personality Test
Cambridge Dictionary defines personality as the special combination of qualities in a person that
makes that person different from others, as shown by the way the person behaves, feels, and thinks .
There are many tests out there that will help you piece together what personality type you have, one of
which I have taken recently. The personality test that I took on My Personality Test .com told me I am
an ISTJ (Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging) personality type. The main characteristics
associated with this personality type are that ISTJs are honest and direct, efficient and systematic,
dedicated and responsible, strong willed and decisive, organized and reliable, committed and
trustworthy, and they value tradition and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jude or small things like picking trash up off the ground. Due to these qualities, ISTJs are viewed as
reliable, trustworthy, honest, and likeable (My Personality Test). These are all the good qualities
associated with this personality type that are true for myself but there are some qualities that can be
considered weaknesses. Our weaknesses are that we always stick to our own beliefs/values and trust
our judgement above that of others (sometimes even if we are wrong) which can make us inflexible or
stubborn sometimes (My Personality Test). Sometimes, if I think I am right, I will defend my answer
or solution (even if I am actually wrong) to the point where I know I am wrong, but I just do not want
to admit it. We may be unaccepting or judgmental sometimes toward other people due to differing
values (My Personality Test). ITSJs try to find other people who share our interests and/or try to get
them to see things our way (My Personality Test). Because we like to deal mostly with reason and
logic, processing emotions may be difficult (expressing ours and understanding others) (My
Personality Test). ITSJs like routine and structure in our daily life which may make dealing with or
getting used to new/unusual situations challenging or troublesome (My Personality Test). Tradition is
important to us and changing it can be discomforting and is one reason why using a tried and true
method is preferable to

The Best Employee Motivation Efforts
The best employee motivation efforts will focus on what the employees deem to be important. It may
be that employees within the same department of the same organization will have different motivators.
Many organizations today find that flexibility in job design and reward systems has resulted in
employees increased longevity with the company, improved productivity, and better morale.
According to survey results, USAA may benefit greatly by incorporating the following
recommendations as it relates to increasing employee motivation.
Empowering Employees
Giving employees more responsibility and decision making authority increases their realm of control
over the tasks for which they are held responsible and better equips them to carry out those tasks. As a
result, feelings of frustration arising from being held accountable for something one does not have the
resources to carry out are diminished. (Maroney, 2004).
Creativity and Innovation
When the power to create in the organization is pushed down from the top to line personnel,
employees who know a job, product, or service best are given the opportunity to use their ideas to
improve it. The power to create motivates employees and benefits the organization in having a more
flexible work force, using more wisely the experience of its employees, and increasing the exchange
of ideas and information among employees and departments. (Maroney, 2004).
Advancement Opportunities
Promotions motivate employees by appealing to their

Film Analysis Essay on Crash (2004)
The movie Crash from director and producer Paul Haggis pictures one day in the lives of various
characters in Los Angeles, all of them from different social and racial backgrounds but nevertheless
connected and intertwined throughout the story. The movie s story is being told in a mostly
chronological way, except that it puts one scene to the very beginning of the film and then cuts back to
the day prior, indicated by the visual text yesterday . In this first sequence, detectives Graham Waters
and his partner Ria have been rearended when they arrive at a crime scene, leading to a fight between
Hispanic Ria and the accident responsible, furious Chinese Kim Lee, involving race related insults

Black bears in BC have a population that is 9 times that of the grizzlies, however, the results show that
the grizzlies have inflicted 9.7 times more attacks on humans in the past 16 years. This goes to show
that grizzly bears have a higher tendency to attack due to the natural factors and stresses that act on
them cause them to be much more aggressive with less tolerance to threats (Herrero, Aspects of
Evolution and Adaptation in American Black Bears (Ursus americanus Pallas) and Brown and Grizzly

number of unknown genders in the dataset. Black bear attacks occurred mostly in well developed

and stick to the rule of the road into making sure they have a safe trip from place to place. The neutral
driver is a mix of both of the caution driver and the speedster the neutral driver knows when to speed,

How Facebook Builds Confidence For High School Male And...
Abstract This paper explores seven peer reviewed journal articles which show results from research
through surveys and a social network stating if Facebook builds confidence for high school students.
There were different studies done in each article and all authors have different opinions on how
Facebook builds or does not build someone s confidence. Sagioglou and Greitemeyer (2014) suggest
that Facebook users feel worse and unconfident after using this social site because they feel like they
wasted their whole time when they could ve been doing something else. Other articles give different
examples on how someone feels after using Facebook after using different research methods. Some
articles explained how some people can be insecure of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first study, the researchers gave a three minute online survey to a total of 123 Facebook users.
The participants were to answer a few questions about their Facebook use, like how much time was
spent on Facebook, how actively did you look at pictures and how many statuses did you post a day,
etc. In the results section, the higher values meant the person was more towards negativity at the end
of their use on Facebook. The results ranged from zero to one hundred and twenty minutes with an
average of 12.78 minutes. This indicates that indeed, the more time that is spent on Facebook, the
lower the mood is immediately afterwards (Sagioglou and Greitemeyer, 2014). In study two,
Sagioglou and Greitemeyer (2014) asked themselves if Facebook really makes someone upset or is
Facebook activity encouraged because of a bad mood? This study included an experimental design
and they aimed to seek if Facebook was the only online social site that decreased one s mood. Two
hundred and sixty three participants were used in this experiment. The participants were to use
Facebook for twenty minutes actively (updating statuses, posting pictures, chatting, etc.). Then, they
were to go back on the survey and answer more questions. The questions were explicitly referring to
the past 20 min and read, How much do you feel like you have spent your time on something
meaningful? , ...wasted your time? and ...done something useful? (Sagioglou and Greitemeyer, 2014).

Water Is A Vital Nutrient Needed For The Survival Of All...
Water is a vital nutrient needed for the survival of all species. One quality of water that was observed
in this lab is known as the hardness of water. Hardness is caused by the presence of polyvalent cations
that dissolve in the water as it moves through soil and rock.1 The main minerals that give water a hard
quality are Ca2+ and Mg2+ therefore, a sample containing a large concentration of calcium and
magnesium is considered hard while a sample containing little or no calcium and magnesium is
considered soft.3 Hard water is not harmful to the body but it proves to be a problem when dealing
with daily household chores such as doing dishes, laundry, and even bathing. When combined with
soap, hard water produces an insoluble precipitate, known as soap scum, that lessens the effectiveness
of soap and requires more to remove.4 Hard water also interferes with industrial processes due to the
formation of a precipitate known as scale. Scale tends to be found in pipes, boilers, and other devices
used in industrial processes as it is formed when hard water is heated. This proves to be a major
problem as the scale formation reduces the water flow, greatly decreases the heat transfer process, and
eventually requires the metal in the devices to be replaced, which is a very expensive process.
Therefore, many industries require the use of soft water to perform their everyday functions.2 The
hardness of water can be measured in units of parts per million (ppm) or grains per gallon.

The Interlopers
The Interlopers : The short story The Interlopers by Saki demonstrates the ironic aura of man vs.
nature, and man vs. man. Hector Hugh Munro, pen named Saki, was one of the most popular short
story writers during the pre World War I British literature era. He wrote many stories and is often
referred to as a highly under rated author for British literature. His war experiences were apparent in
the novellas that he wrote, and often gave readers a gloomy, disturbed feeling. Other stories by Saki
include: Gabriel Ernest , The Toys of Peace , and The Storyteller . These short stories specifically
illustrate horror, and the advantage of living life outside of the box. The three predominant literary
techniques in Saki s The Interlopers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The conflict instantly changes and nature becomes involved. While trapped under the tree they realize
how idiotic the quarrel has been and vow to become cordial; treating one another as neighbors, instead
of as enemies. The men s forgiveness towards each other displays an internal conflict because both
had to weigh the pros and cons of ending the feud. Either they make peace and work together to get
freed, or they could just stay angry at one another and risk never being rescued from under the tree.
Therefore, the three main conflicts displayed in The Interlopers are Man vs. Man, Man vs. Nature, and
Man vs. self. All of which provide a great deal of trouble for both men all through out the novella.
Irony also plays a big part in understanding the concept of the story. Without Saki s ironic ways
readers would not get a clear idea of what the moral is after reading the novella. As To begin, Georg
and Ulrich are fighting over land, which in the outcome is the cause of their death. In the beginning
they had the intentions of searching across the useless spurs in hopes of gunning down a human rival.
All along the only foe that they truly had was within the nature that was surrounding them. Saki ended
the story with one word; wolves. It is not directly stated if Georg and Ulrich were eaten by the beasts,
but that one word creates a mysterious vibe that makes the reader wonder if either of their crew ever
made it in time to help them in time to fight

Splintering Urbanism
There are many fundamental infrastructures in America that we rely on day to day. When I hear the
word infrastructure, the first thing that comes to mind are networks of transportation such as roads,
bridges, highways, rails, and airports. But infrastructure is so much more. From the water
infrastructure that provides a clean supply of water as well as the removal of water waste, to the
generation and distribution of power infrastructure, or even gas for those who need to heat their homes
and cook on stoves. All of these have their respective purposes and functions in society, but the focus
of this is going to be on the telecommunications infrastructure. The internet is a powerful system and
infrastructure that many people and their technology depend on. Even many other infrastructures have
the internet woven into its core in order to effectively operate. Tim Berners Lee, the creator of the
world wide web, once said, I myself feel that it is very important that my ISP supplies internet to my
house like the water company supplies water to my house. It supplies connectivity with no strings
attached. Sadly, connectivity to the telecommunications infrastructure is showing symptoms of
splintering urbanism in many American cities. Splintering urbanism refers to the various ... Show

Analytical analysis and comparism of an everyday text with...
Choose one every day and one literary text. Using at least two analytical techniques from E301,
analyze and compare your two texts in terms of their creativity and literariness, drawing on material
from both parts of the module.
In this paper I will analyze and compare a literary text and an everyday text, in terms of their
creativity and literariness. I chose Philip Larkin s (1964) poem, Self s the man (see Appendix, Text 1),
as the literary text for analysis because it is not only smooth and pleasing to the eye and mind that it
seems effortless to read and contain within one s self but also because it arouses so many emotions
which makes it ideal for analysis. In Self s the man Larkin (1964), is being cynical towards
relationships ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my analysis, I will first apply Jakobson s (1960) methodology, stylistics approach and Carter s
(1997) criteria of literariness to the two texts and then contrast them with illustrations in terms of
interpretative schemata. My intention in doing so is to highlight some of the strengths and weaknesses
of these approaches and also modes in which they interact to better comprehend the nature of
creativity and literariness.
On the graphological level, in Text 1, the noticeable attributes are the traditional lineation, stanza
divisions of poetry, and the presence of standard punctuation. The poem has 8 stanzas in all and each
stanza consists of 4 lines. This creates a set rhythmic pattern, particularly in conjunction with the
rhyme scheme. Text 2, on the other hand, on a graphic level, uses full capitalization in order to
emphasize every letter in the ad and make it look trim and tidy. The headline uses larger, capital and
bold letters to draw readers attention and make them curious about what the advertisement mainly has
to say, leading them to continue on reading unconsciously by arousing their curiosity and desire to
know more about the product and subsequently persuading them to buy it. Moreover, Text 2,
illustrates graphological deviation, by using solid background colors, and a brilliant diamond ring to
focus all the reader s attention to.
On the phonic level, Text 1 has little

Embryonic Stem Cells
Stem cells are cells within the body that have the ability to grow and reproduce repeatedly into any
type of mature cell. They are unspecialized cells that divide through mitosis to produce more stem
cells that replace cells in the system in which they are found. Stems cells make it possible for the body
to renew and repair its damaged tissues. They are also vital in the development of human life. Stem
cells are high potential cells, and this makes them a top focus in the biomedical research world. (Stem
Cell Basics, 2009) This paper will discuss the background, function, and other aspects of stem cells.

Perspiration And Social Anxiety
Explore the Connection Between Social Anxiety and Excessive Perspiration Everyone has problems.
People say that no one is perfect, and I completely believe that to be an axiom of life. As for me, my
fair share of social anxiety and stress comes from a certain health disorder called hyperhidrosis, which
is simply an exaggerated amount of perspiration. For example, it may just be sweating in the palms,
underarms, soles, face or all of the above. Now, just to get an idea of how rare this condition is, it is
estimated that 3% of the United States population is affected to some extent. That amounts to almost
10 million people living and suffering from its wrath. Although I have not been officially diagnosed
with hyperhidrosis, my conviction is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s when a large group of people collaborates to achieve an intended goal, whether that is to inform,
teach, persuade, entertain, or in general, communicate ideas. It s also a complicated time for someone
with hyperhidrosis because the agony and uneasiness of being a center of attention releases an
amplified amount of activity in the sweat glands, leading to severe perspiration. First impressions are
usually crucial in making new friends, connections or even potential partners. Thus, the opportunity is
jeopardized when handshakes are almost always moist and slimy. This extends to interviews too,
regardless of it being academic or occupational. In addition to clammy hands, the matter of underarm
sweating is more trivial than it seems. We have to think about upper wear color schemes that aren t
prone to dark crescent moon blotches. I scorn light greys and typically turn towards whites and blacks.
In the professional workforce, certain dress codes that portray a serious business demeanor must be
followed. In terms of dress shirts, it can be almost impossible to wear bright colors such as green and
blue without being victim to darkened patches in a matter of minutes. Over the years, I ve adapted to
these problems and gotten creative with what works for me. Nevertheless, I d still much rather have
one less clothing issue to worry about on a daily basis. The worse would have to be giving a

What s so Amazing About Grace Book Report Essay
Cameron Peterson
Mr. Oswald
Romans Period 4
11 January 2012
What s So Amazing about Grace? Book Report What s So Amazing about Grace? is a book written by
Philip Yancey. It begins with a twisted story of a prostitute living on the streets. She is unable to feed
her two year old child and has to find another way to earn money. She could not think of any other
alternatives and began selling her child out for prostitution. She could make much more money this
way than she could in one night. The woman began counseling and when asked if she had ever
considered going to church, her response was that attending church would only make her feel worse
about herself. Yancey describes Earth as a place full of ungrace . This is a term that ... Show more

Because Jesus extended grace to all, we should do the same. There are none who are not deserving or
worthy of our grace. This is important for us to remember. It is true that grace does not come easy, and
that it is not necessarily easy to give. Grace is not a small display of kindness; it is a sacrifice and a
gift to others. Just as Jesus gave us the gift of grace by suffering and dying on the cross for us, we
should be able to give gifts of grace at our own expense to others. I very much enjoyed this book and
was spiritually moved by it. I agree with most of what Philip Yancey has to say about lack of grace not
only in the church, but in the world also. In today s day and age, it seems that everyone is in it for
themselves. Most do not take the time of day to stop and give their grace to the needy. It helped to
strengthen my view that all of deserving of grace and that we, as Christians, should be reading to give
our grace to others. While I do support that idea that we need to cure the world of ungrace , I do not
feel that we need to do this in order to earn God s grace. This is a view that Yancey supports in the
book and I do not happen to agree with it. Grace is in fact, a gift and it is not something we have to
earn by giving other s grace. By following God s example, we should also give others this same grace
God gave us, but it is not a requirement in order for us to receive His grace. Overall, I feel spiritually

women are expected to be accommodating and emotional, while men are usually expected to be self
confident and aggressive, this shows how men and women are to behave in society. However, these
sayings were taught to individuals based on norms, or standards created by a society which is called
Gender Socialization (p. 318). Growing up as a child, we were taught as girls to play with dollhouses,
pretend kitchen sets, cleaning supplies and play dress up. Whereas boys are taught to play with cars,
sports equipment s, action figures, and weapons. However, if a boy was playing with dollhouses, or
playing dress up, he would be considered gay, or not masculine and looked down upon by society, and
families. The same goes for girls who play with boy toys, or dresses as a tomboy, this is what we are
taught to play with at a young age. Our families tell us how to behave, our schools tell us what ...

The Gross Clinic Gender Roles
Thomas Eakins, an American painter, is recognized for his anatomical depictions of men and women
in his paintings. In the Romantic era, it was known for artists to illustrate scenes which evoke
emotions; however, Eakins The Gross Clinic (1875) bluntly portrayed a bloody surgery, which was not
received well, due to the fact that few other painting depicted such a vulgar and graphic scene. In the
nineteenth century, men were viewed as the rational, reasonable and intellectual beings, superior over
the passive and submissive qualities of women. In that time period, man was considered woman s
superior over God s appointment. Eakins portrayal of men and women reflect the characters of both
sexes present in his society.

My Interview with a Jewish Friend Essay examples
Introduction of the religion The religion I decided to do this interview on is Judaism. I have always
been interested in this religion and was ready to learn more. One of the three great monotheistic world
religions, Judaism began as the faith of the ancient Hebrews, and its sacred text is the Hebrew Bible,
particularly the Torah. Fundamental to Judaism is the belief that the people of Israel are God s chosen
people, who must serve as a light for other nations. God made a covenant first with Abraham, then
renewed it with Isaac, Jacob, and Moses. The worship of Yahweh (God) was centered in Jerusalem
from the time of David.

These are things that all Jews share.
3. What different methods of worship does your religion practice?
Answer: Traditionally, Jews use certain rituals on a daily basis, too. Some of these are: putting on the
Tallit (a prayer shawl) and Tefillin (phylacteries, which are small leather boxes containing verses from
the Bible that remind Jews of their duties one worn on the forehead and one on the arm), praying three
times a day, and keeping the dietary laws called Kashrut.
4. Is there a particular day you practice these methods of worship?
Answer: Yes of course. Jews have long revered Shabbat, the Sabbath, as a taste of the world to come,
a time of rest, of peace, and of contentment. From sundown on Friday night until sundown on
Saturday night, observant Jews set aside time to pray and study a day to refrain from work and
everyday cares.
5. What is your place of worship called?
6. What are the important holidays and traditions of this religion?
Answer: Yes a few are: the high holy days, sukkot, hannukkah, pesach, the omer period, Shavuot, and
tishah.
7. How has religion shaped your life?
Answer: Of course it has. Being Jewish is what I am. I was raised this way, left this way of life and
came back. I love being the Jewish man I am.

Summary Of Who Own History By Eric Foner
In the reading, Who Owns History? , by Eric Foner, the preface, made up of primarily James Baldwin
s thoughts, creates an argument about the passage of history, and in particular, who has claim to such
at any given time. The question of ownership over what is essentially just memories, relates to how we
learn, and grow, as well as shapes our culture. By having ownership over history, the particular group
of people are able to have most influence over what parts of history are most important as well as the
actual way we study history. These elements may seem trivial but they are exactly how we, as youth,
are able to grow with and around our culture. History belongs to everyone, the originators of
prominent events, those who pass it on to remember it, and those who continue to pass the information
long after those in play have passed. With respect to these roles, it is the youth who primarily own
history at any given time; they have an interest in a topic, then study to become well versed in it, then
they teach it to the next youth. It is their interpretations that influence the popularity and importance
that society finds in that theme of history. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Everyone wants to eat safe and stay healthy. Nowadays, genetically engineered food is everywhere in
the United States. Thanks to Monsanto, a company that produces and develops genetic modified
crops, according to Genetically Engineered Crops by the Center for Food Safety (CFS), 70 percent of
processed foods on supermarket shelves from soda to soup, crackers to condiments contain genetically

in other parts of the world, European Union and Russia have been banning any genetically modified

Monsanto has been spending a huge amount of money to tell the Americans that genetic engineered
food is totally safe to eat. Other than that, according to Viral Gene In Genetically Engineered Foods

Novelism In The Stagecoach
In Hollywood, there was a fear of communism and far left political ideas. Novelists of the time
influenced change in political ideas and national purpose along with the conflict between the common
man and capitalist corporations (Sklar 242). Their ideas influenced films like Stagecoach which
exposed corporate greed and corruption and other less than obvious forces at work in American
society (Sklar 242). Stagecoach was a Western film that addressed ideas regarding the end of the
American frontier and the end of expansion that reflects in the character of America (Blake 179). It
questions the values of big business and the sketchy banks with a corrupt banker, Gatewood, who
steals the bank roll and takes off to the West. The doctor, Peacock, is a raging alcoholic, and the hero,
Ringo Kid, falls in love with the prostitute, Dallas. Additionally, the Stagecoach itself is in poor repair
signifying the daunting condition of the United States at the time. The characters are not who they
appear to be and the end, where Dallas and Ringo go off into the sunset together, differs from
traditional Westerns where the hero cannot fall in love with anyone, let alone a prostitute. The
juxtaposition between the characters and their destiny s is symbolic of the chaos in America in the late
1930 s. The United States pulled out of the Great Depression through WWII. However, when WWII
was over, the United States still faced some of the same social issues that persisted through the 1920 s

Analysis Of Frankenstein By Edgar Allan Poe And Angela...
Throughout Mary Shelley s novel, Frankenstein , there has been a constant struggle and dispute as to
which force is the most dominant and potent; science or religion. It can be argued that the character
Victor Frankenstein is in fact trying to fulfil his role as God; the power to create and sustain life just as
easily as it is to take it away. However this idea of creating life and becoming a God complex was
much more appealing and alluring than the lamentable reality, suggesting that his concept should have
remained just that; an idea. As a result, his utopia quickly developed into a dystopia when Victor
created a catastrophe . This novel seems to fit more so in this century than when it was written in
1818; for now we have the studies of cloning which has sparked much controversy. Throughout this
essay I will also be looking at work created by Edgar Allan Poe and Angela Carter to help illuminate
my points and gather a broader understanding. A lot of emphasis has been placed upon the importance
of Mary Shelley s family history in the formation of Frankenstein. Shelley gave birth to a daughter in
1815 who later died after just 2 weeks. It has been reported that she had written about a dream in one
of her journals that her baby came to life again after she rubbed it before the fire . (Journals, P.70) This
is probably one of the main influences into writing a novel on creating life and raising the dead.
Nevertheless, this did not end well and resulted in only

Harry Truman s Fair Deal
After a decade of Democracy, the Republican party moved into the White House. Along with this shift
in the government, there were also many economical and social issues that followed along. Once the
first election of the decade in 1952, the government started to factor in the Korean War, inflation, the
New Deal, Harry Truman s Fair Deal, and the major problem with John McCarthy and McCarthyism.
In the background of the politics in the nation, economically things were changing. As World War II
was ending and the Korean War was in its early stages, a period of inflation affected the United States.
In order to deal with the rate of inflation old policies resurfaced and new policies were created, and
finally groups of people were organized to maintain stability with the policies. Ultimately in the end
the economic played a role in how the nation played out socially. This was the decade that: the baby
boomers peaked, laws and protection plans were created to give veterans education and jobs, and
finally civil rights movements were initiated. During the 1950 s government, financing, and social had
rapid and powerful movements and changes.
When it comes to the politics across the nation during this decade there were two elections, some
trials, and new acts and legislations. After the Democratic party ruled the White House for a decade, it
all changed with the death of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. At the beginning of the decade in office

The Seventh Day was a novel written by my favorite author Yu Hua. It attracted me because of its up
and downs of the plot. At the age of 41, Yang Fei, the main character, encountered an accidental and
unceremonious death. The whole story is talking about all the things that happened after the death of
Yang Fei. Each chapter represents each day after he died, and every chapter contains a full story that
was recalled by Yang Fei. No one knows what a dead body would experience, so the novel writing
perspective impressed me a lot, and the setting of the plot stimulated my desire to continue reading. As
time goes by, Yang Fei met more and more dead people that he knew when he was alive. The author

The last one is the equilibration which Piaget believed that a child at this point has the abilities to
balance information back and forth in order to practise and get the information restored. And the child
does it by accommodation and assimilation (Carlson, 2010). In other hand, Vygotsky suggest that
language is the fundamental basis for the children cognitive development (Gross, 2010). Also,
language is one the factors that influence children to use inner speech when learning new objects or
words (Gross, 2010). But there is problem with this theory because other psychologists do not support
this theory. Instead, Piaget argued and suggested that children at that stage are egocentric and have
some form vocabulary limitation. Further, this might explain the children self talk (Gross, 2010). In
another Process which Vygotsky explained was the Zone of Proximal development which the child

censors. Censors have even banned books like the dictionary and the Bible. Books have been banned
for various reasons. The entire context may have been inappropriate, or the cover of the book could
have had offensive material. There have even been cases where books have been banned for one word
out of place. When The Catcher in the Rye was published in 1951, it was put on the banned book list
after a short period of time since many people felt that the book was extremely inappropriate due to its

Compare And Contrast Eukaryotic And Photosynthesis
When comparing photosynthesis and cellular respiration in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells you must
first understand what the two are and why they are important. Photo meaning light and synthesis
meaning making. So, photosynthesis is converting sunlight into a chemical energy source. Mostly to
obtain energy is its main purpose, but there is a formula to follow when dealing with photosynthesis.
The formula is carbon dioxide plus water with the presence of chlorophyll and sunlight reacting to
glucose giving you glucose, water, and oxygen. There are two stages of photosynthesis and they are
light dependent and the light independent meaning exactly what they sound like one is dependent on
sunlight and the other simply doesn t need sunlight. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Or receive energy. The process of occurs when plants absorb energy from the sun then that energy is
transferred to humans and animals. Photosynthesis occurs in eukaryotic cells by Chloroplast.

job is for making amino acids and lipids needed for production. Algae is a good example of where you
can find chloroplast. When looking at chloroplast the appearance would be a green pigment known as
chlorophyll. Chlorophyll absorbs light energy for production. In plant chloroplast which are
commonly found in plant leaves have different structures each of them being important. The
membrane envelope contains lipids for protection, and keeping chloroplast closed regulates what goes
in and out of the cell. The system that converts light energy to chemical energy is through the function
thylakoid system. The fluid that is inside the membrane envelope and the outside of the thylakoid is
called the stroma. The chloroplast has mainly two steps in the process of photosynthesis in plant cells.
The first one is energy transferring known as the light dependent or light reactions. the second step is
carbon fixation reactions known as the dark reactions. The three products of energy transfer are

choice of words, the sentence structure, or even the order in which the story is told. Typically, novels
are read in chronological order, meaning that events take place in an order of sequence. As said before,
most authors have a preferred technique used in their writing. In this case, Gabriel Garcia Marquez,

affect the reader in two similar, but different ways. Starting off, the fictional novel Chronicles of a
Death Foretold does not relate events

  • 2. Gender Differences In The United States Introduction Across the world, it has been noticed that women are the minority in society. The United States (US) is a prime example; women in the US are more likely to have low paying jobs, undergo domestic abuse, and encounter sexual harassment in any situation. Men, on the other hand, are the ideal in the US: higher paying jobs and head of household. Women face many obstacles when trying to achieve due to our social norms. These norms accumulate the different characteristics of the genders; furthermore, it is based off what society perceives as accurate for a male or female in many situations. There is general agreement that there are gender differences in various things. Many studies have been done on gender differences in: conversational style, education, wages at work, body politics, etc. These studies indicate how females are rapport (indirect) talkers and men are reported (direct) talkers when it comes to having a conversation, how women s education is focused on English, home economics, and reading, how men and women money face a gap in the work setting, and how women are sexualized in any setting placed. These cross studies conclude that women are striving to change the stereotype, but the social norms will continue to compare and contrast, everything there is to a female, ... My Personality Test Cambridge Dictionary defines personality as the special combination of qualities in a person that makes that person different from others, as shown by the way the person behaves, feels, and thinks . There are many tests out there that will help you piece together what personality type you have, one of which I have taken recently. The personality test that I took on My Personality Test .com told me I am an ISTJ (Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging) personality type. The main characteristics associated with this personality type are that ISTJs are honest and direct, efficient and systematic, dedicated and responsible, strong willed and decisive, organized and reliable, committed and trustworthy, and they value tradition and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jude or small things like picking trash up off the ground. Due to these qualities, ISTJs are viewed as reliable, trustworthy, honest, and likeable (My Personality Test). These are all the good qualities associated with this personality type that are true for myself but there are some qualities that can be considered weaknesses. Our weaknesses are that we always stick to our own beliefs/values and trust our judgement above that of others (sometimes even if we are wrong) which can make us inflexible or stubborn sometimes (My Personality Test). Sometimes, if I think I am right, I will defend my answer or solution (even if I am actually wrong) to the point where I know I am wrong, but I just do not want to admit it. We may be unaccepting or judgmental sometimes toward other people due to differing values (My Personality Test). ITSJs try to find other people who share our interests and/or try to get them to see things our way (My Personality Test). It may be that employees within the same department of the same organization will have different motivators. Many organizations today find that flexibility in job design and reward systems has resulted in employees increased longevity with the company, improved productivity, and better morale. According to survey results, USAA may benefit greatly by incorporating the following recommendations as it relates to increasing employee motivation. Empowering Employees Giving employees more responsibility and decision making authority increases their realm of control over the tasks for which they are held responsible and better equips them to carry out those tasks. As a result, feelings of frustration arising from being held accountable for something one does not have the resources to carry out are diminished. (Maroney, 2004). Creativity and Innovation When the power to create in the organization is pushed down from the top to line personnel, employees who know a job, product, or service best are given the opportunity to use their ideas to improve it. • 10. Water Is A Vital Nutrient Needed For The Survival Of All... Water is a vital nutrient needed for the survival of all species. One quality of water that was observed in this lab is known as the hardness of water. Hardness is caused by the presence of polyvalent cations that dissolve in the water as it moves through soil and rock.1 The main minerals that give water a hard quality are Ca2+ and Mg2+ therefore, a sample containing a large concentration of calcium and magnesium is considered hard while a sample containing little or no calcium and magnesium is considered soft.3 Hard water is not harmful to the body but it proves to be a problem when dealing with daily household chores such as doing dishes, laundry, and even bathing. When combined with soap, hard water produces an insoluble precipitate, known as soap scum, that lessens the effectiveness of soap and requires more to remove.4 Hard water also interferes with industrial processes due to the formation of a precipitate known as scale. Scale tends to be found in pipes, boilers, and other devices used in industrial processes as it is formed when hard water is heated. This proves to be a major problem as the scale formation reduces the water flow, greatly decreases the heat transfer process, and eventually requires the metal in the devices to be replaced, which is a very expensive process. Therefore, many industries require the use of soft water to perform their everyday functions.2 The hardness of water can be measured in units of parts per million (ppm) or grains per gallon. ... Hector Hugh Munro, pen named Saki, was one of the most popular short story writers during the pre World War I British literature era. He wrote many stories and is often referred to as a highly under rated author for British literature. His war experiences were apparent in the novellas that he wrote, and often gave readers a gloomy, disturbed feeling. While trapped under the tree they realize how idiotic the quarrel has been and vow to become cordial; treating one another as neighbors, instead of as enemies. The men s forgiveness towards each other displays an internal conflict because both had to weigh the pros and cons of ending the feud. Either they make peace and work together to get freed, or they could just stay angry at one another and risk never being rescued from under the tree. Therefore, the three main conflicts displayed in The Interlopers are Man vs. Man, Man vs. Nature, and Man vs. self. All of which provide a great deal of trouble for both men all through out the novella. Irony also plays a big part in understanding the concept of the story. Without Saki s ironic ways readers would not get a clear idea of what the moral is after reading the novella. My intention in doing so is to highlight some of the strengths and weaknesses of these approaches and also modes in which they interact to better comprehend the nature of creativity and literariness. On the graphological level, in Text 1, the noticeable attributes are the traditional lineation, stanza divisions of poetry, and the presence of standard punctuation. The poem has 8 stanzas in all and each stanza consists of 4 lines. This creates a set rhythmic pattern, particularly in conjunction with the rhyme scheme. Text 2, on the other hand, on a graphic level, uses full capitalization in order to emphasize every letter in the ad and make it look trim and tidy. The headline uses larger, capital and bold letters to draw readers attention and make them curious about what the advertisement mainly has to say, leading them to continue on reading unconsciously by arousing their curiosity and desire to know more about the product and subsequently persuading them to buy it. Just as Jesus gave us the gift of grace by suffering and dying on the cross for us, we should be able to give gifts of grace at our own expense to others. I very much enjoyed this book and was spiritually moved by it. I agree with most of what Philip Yancey has to say about lack of grace not only in the church, but in the world also. While I do support that idea that we need to cure the world of ungrace , I do not feel that we need to do this in order to earn God s grace. This is a view that Yancey supports in the book and I do not happen to agree with it. Grace is in fact, a gift and it is not something we have to earn by giving other s grace. Summary Of Who Own History By Eric Foner In the reading, Who Owns History? , by Eric Foner, the preface, made up of primarily James Baldwin s thoughts, creates an argument about the passage of history, and in particular, who has claim to such at any given time. The question of ownership over what is essentially just memories, relates to how we learn, and grow, as well as shapes our culture. By having ownership over history, the particular group of people are able to have most influence over what parts of history are most important as well as the actual way we study history. These elements may seem trivial but they are exactly how we, as youth, are able to grow with and around our culture. History belongs to everyone, the originators of prominent events, those who pass it on to remember it, and those who continue to pass the information long after those in play have passed. With respect to these roles, it is the youth who primarily own history at any given time; they have an interest in a topic, then study to become well versed in it, then they teach it to the next youth. Novelists of the time influenced change in political ideas and national purpose along with the conflict between the common man and capitalist corporations (Sklar 242). Their ideas influenced films like Stagecoach which exposed corporate greed and corruption and other less than obvious forces at work in American society (Sklar 242). Stagecoach was a Western film that addressed ideas regarding the end of the American frontier and the end of expansion that reflects in the character of America (Blake 179). It questions the values of big business and the sketchy banks with a corrupt banker, Gatewood, who steals the bank roll and takes off to the West. The doctor, Peacock, is a raging alcoholic, and the hero, Ringo Kid, falls in love with the prostitute, Dallas. Additionally, the Stagecoach itself is in poor repair signifying the daunting condition of the United States at the time. The characters are not who they appear to be and the end, where Dallas and Ringo go off into the sunset together, differs from traditional Westerns where the hero cannot fall in love with anyone, let alone a prostitute. The juxtaposition between the characters and their destiny s is symbolic of the chaos in America in the late 1930 s. The United States pulled out of the Great Depression through WWII. • 32. Analysis Of Frankenstein By Edgar Allan Poe And Angela... Throughout Mary Shelley s novel, Frankenstein , there has been a constant struggle and dispute as to which force is the most dominant and potent; science or religion. It can be argued that the character Victor Frankenstein is in fact trying to fulfil his role as God; the power to create and sustain life just as easily as it is to take it away. However this idea of creating life and becoming a God complex was much more appealing and alluring than the lamentable reality, suggesting that his concept should have remained just that; an idea. As a result, his utopia quickly developed into a dystopia when Victor created a catastrophe . This novel seems to fit more so in this century than when it was written in 1818; for now we have the studies of cloning which has sparked much controversy. Throughout this essay I will also be looking at work created by Edgar Allan Poe and Angela Carter to help illuminate my points and gather a broader understanding. A lot of emphasis has been placed upon the importance of Mary Shelley s family history in the formation of Frankenstein. Shelley gave birth to a daughter in 1815 who later died after just 2 weeks. It has been reported that she had written about a dream in one of her journals that her baby came to life again after she rubbed it before the fire . (Journals, P.70) This is probably one of the main influences into writing a novel on creating life and raising the dead. Nevertheless, this did not end well and resulted in only ...
