Examples Of Project Censorship
In this media, censorship and propaganda essay I will define and explain what project censored is and
what they mean by modern media censorship, providing examples. I will cover whether there are
actually censorship issues or if the reporting is done containing deliberate imperfections to cloud the
real stories that are being withheld from the American public; followed by examples of Junk Food
News or News Abuse and my thoughts on those examples. Lastly, I will discuss free press and its
effect on current and past event Project Censored is an organization that educates students and the
public about the importance of a truly free press for democratic self government. We expose and
oppose news censorship and we promote independent investigative journalism, media literacy, and
critical thinking. Project Censored highlights the important links among a free press, media literacy
and democratic self government. 1 Project Censored was created during the time of the Nixon
Watergate incident. Dr. Carl Jensen, the founder of project censored, was shocked to see that Richard
Nixon was elected to another term as President of the United States after all that happened with
Watergate.
Modern media censorship is a restrictive way of molding and shaping the way that the media presents
news to the public. Project Censored defines Modern Censorship as the subtle yet constant and
sophisticated manipulation of reality in our mass media outlets. 2 The information that gets released to

Theories Of Dyslexia
Drawing on your experience and understanding of the theories of causality of Dyslexia, what types of
behaviour would lead you to consider that a learner might be Dyslexic?
Student number: 11643
Word Count: 2048
Dyslexia according to the Oxford Dictionary is a general term for disorders involving difficulty to
read or interpret words, letters or other symbols, but does not affect general intelligence.
This essay will look at the theories of causality of Dyslexia and what types of behaviour would lead
one to consider that a learner might be Dyslexic.
In my many years of teaching I have come across children with different learning abilities. Some
children have had a weakness in Literacy that required a more individualised approach. Even though
none of them have been diagnosed with Dyslexia, they have helped me gain an understanding of the
challenges they have faced. In working closely with these learners and their therapists I have observed
some of the behaviours explored below. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can also have an impact on cognitive processing such as memory, speed of processing, time
management, co ordination and automaticity. There may be visual and/or phonological difficulties and
there are usually some discrepancies in education performances .(Reid, G)
There are three types of definitions of Dyslexia. One being a Descriptive definition, a Discrepancy
based definition and the third a Criteria based definition. Throughout all the definitions studied, it is
evident that Dyslexia exists on a continuum. The signs of Dyslexia are present regardless of the age of
the individual. It is a developmental disorder affecting one or more areas of Literacy along with other

D. Shibulal, happened without a hitch, the issue of corporate governance isn t addressed with the
seriousness it deserves.
While concerns about succession are as old as the human race, professional research on succession
planning and management began in earnest in the 1950s (Zaich, 1986). The chief focus of that
research was on CEO succession until the 1980 s (Kesner Sebora, 1994). At that time, due to the
growing interest in human resource planning, still a topic of interest today (Rothwell and Kazanas,
2003) research began to take on a broader focus that encompassed more than CEO s. The National
Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) defines succession management as a deliberate and
systematic effort to project leadership requirements, identify a pool of high potential candidates,
develop leadership competencies in those candidates through intentional learning experiences, and
select leaders from among the pool of potential leaders.

The Dun Cow Essay
In the book of the dun cow, Wangerin uses the carton characteristics of Old Yeller, Robin from
batman, and Clifford the big red dog. With all these characteristics combined you acquire the ultimate
copy of Mundo Cani.
At the begin of the Dun Cow Mundo Cani had no exact introduction. There was no specific time, or
place that he arrived from, no owner. He was just there, and moing louder than ever MAROOONED
(17). In this very first chapter of the book, you can conclude that this whining dog may in fact change
the whole story. Wangerin gives Mundo cani this sense that he is like a piece of gum stuck to your
shoe, almost impossible to get rid of no matter what you do. On multiple accounts Chauntecleer tells
the dog to scram, beat it, but the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By proving his worth to the farm chanticleer lets him stay, and does not expect any more from him.
But that s not the case in this story; Cani goes above and beyond and helps more and more each day.
Mundo Cani had a talent nobody would have suspected: He could run like any horse at full gallop
(60). Robin on the other hand, tries time after time to prove to batman that he should not be labeled as
the sidekick. That he should be the main hero to. Never the less Robin does help batman in more ways
than none, and is grateful for all that batman does for him. Robin just wants to have a bigger title.
Clifford the big red dog is a fan favorite. Clifford is, obviously, this big red dog who loves, is gentle,
clumsy, well meaning and helpful. Even though Clifford is this huge dog and stands out, he beats to
his own drum and does not care what people think of him.
When all these horrible things that goes on in the farm you don t hear as much from Mundo Cani as
you would think. He kind of just does his own thing. When Wyrm and Cocatrice come and attack Cani
helps fight them off and protect Pertelo. But he does not have a set schedule of things that he does. He
like Clifford does what he pleases. He is also well meaning and

Compare Sloth And The Sound Of The Night
Would you ever expect someone to compare poems about a sloth and the sounds of the night? Well, if
you haven t then you have a healthy mind, unlike the author of this essay. These two poems are really
different from each other; not by their content but also by their figurative language and poetic devices.
Each of these poems is unique so you never know what to expect from them. First, let s analyze The
Sound of Night by Maxine Kumin. Her poem is 27 lines long, and it is Iambic. It s title explains the
setting of the poem, probably it is set outside in a forest since the author can hear the sound of the
night, which refers to the sounds of animals and insects. The theme of this poem is that when humans
don t understand things they tend to be scared of them. The overall tone of this poem is unpleasant due
to usage of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poem is a lot shorter and simpler than the former but it doesn t mean that it s a bad poem. This
poem doesn t have a lot of literary devices but has quite a surprising meaning. This poem an iambic
tetrameter with the rhyme scheme of A/A/A/B/B/B/C/C/C/D/D/D. It has three examples of
alliteration, he has (S1L1), have heard (S2L3), and still swaying (S4L3). It contains an example of
assonance on the second line of the first stanza, which is in his . There is a slight repetition in the end
of the poem, stanza four line three if being precise; phrase he knows is being repeated twice on the
same line. There is also an example of imagery, He ll sigh and give his Branch a Hug; this creates a
picture of a sloth hugging a tree branch. Now, are you ready for the interesting part? This poem is
actually talking about a human, not an animal. You can identify it by the usage of words he and his ,
not it or it s which would be used when referring to an animal. So it is just about a lazy person that
doesn t want to do anything so the other person, probably the author, perceives him as a

King Philip s war. During the King Philip s war, the Massachusetts Bay Colony was attacked by
Native Indians and some people were captured by native Indians for 11 weeks and 5 days. Mary

However, some Indians did wear colonists clothes and even did pray and claimed that they became

conditions (Huber and Franz. 2012). Senior people in USC created a culture where deans know
janitors as well as they know their medical school faculty, which implies that the working
environment in USC is flexible and commute activities are encouraged. There no rigid class
differentiation in USC. The organization culture in USC can be found in the tiny things such as
acquaintance between deans and janitors (Pilbeam,Corbridge. 2006).
According to the remuneration strategies adopted by USC, some points should be focused on:
Diversity or differentiation of benefits provided: at last, USC offered Toga with proximity to family
and commute time and Thompson with move to Pennsylvania with his family and lab staff. Two men
were provided with different benefits since each man had different desires. This action fully implies
that the remuneration strategies focus on humanity and customization in USC. Offering at least the
same benefits as competitors: during an anatomy of the recruiting effort, UCLA, the competitors of
USC, courted Toga and Thompson with expanding the lab and giving the men more resources. USC

Kingsolver s The Bean Trees
Barbara Kingsolver once said, Good fiction creates empathy. A novel takes you somewhere and asks
you to look through the eyes of another person, to live another life (Barbara Kingsolver Quotes).
Contemporary Literary Criticism includes authors critiques of Kingsolver s novel, The Bean Trees,
agreeing this quote ...imbues the reader with giddy feelings ( Barbara Kingsolver ). Published in 1988,
Kingsolver takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster with a manifold of feelings. Her novel,
filled with friendship and survival, is set in the barren American Southwest, focusing on Taylor Greer
s search for a new life as she traveled across the country ( Barbara Kingsolver ). Kingsolver s

Geographical facts and information present in the novel came from Kingsolver s knowledge of the
area. Hughes Walker was no Kentucky boy (Kingsolver 4). This quote acknowledged Kingsolver s
ability to distinguish the types of people who did and did not live in the area. The adventurous
childhood Kingsolver had and the area she grew up in helped influence her to write The Bean Trees.
Her longing for adventure carried over to Taylor and her personality. Kingsolver described some of the
perils Taylor would take. When I was just the littlest kid I would go pond fishing on a Sunday and
bring home the boniest mess of blue gills and maybe a bass the size of your thumb... (Kingsolver 3).
One big adventure Taylor went on was her decision to drive until she found a comfortable place that
she would call her forever home. Along with these two prominent factors of her childhood, Kingsolver
and her family also moved across the world to Africa, where she learned about another culture. At
seven years of age, Wendell announced the family would relocate to Africa so he could be more
efficacious in his practice of medicine ( The Bean Trees: Barbara Kingsolver ). While living in Africa,
Kingsolver experienced the feeling of being an outsider which led her to a more secluded life as she
believed she did not fit in. A new interest other than nature erupted in Kingsolver and she became
intrigued with people from other cultures. Everyday she wrote in a journal and later

The Role Of The Puritans
The Puritans The Puritans were a group of people who were set out to get away from the British
colony. They came into America to start a new life set apart from their past experiences in a monarch
society. Their intentions were to purify the churches of England of their Catholic way. They are a
group who worship the Bible. They expect all other Puritans to know their Ten Commandments. They
are one of the first groups to inhabit America. The first actual people were the Native Americans and
then the Pilgrims. There is a difference between the pilgrims and the puritans. The difference is that
the pilgrims came to America to get away from the Church of England and be separate. They want to
separate because they believe that England is violating the rules of the Bible. The Puritans also came
to get away from the church because they believed that the church in England still needed further
reform. That is why they started their own church in America, so they can make their own rules and be
free. The play is about the group of puritans who came to start their church in Salem. In the beginning,
there was little talk of witchcraft (Wiggins, 2012). People were starting to grow suspicious of Parris
because his slave and niece and a couple other girls were dancing in the woods (Wiggins, 2012). Also
his daughter was in a coma and would not wake up. Eventually he decided to call in Hale, who is a
professional with witchcraft, to determine what was going on. Although he was said to be
professional, later on we come to find out that he was starting to think he was wrong but he keeps that
to himself (Wiggins, 2012). Then towards the end after there had been many deaths, he decides to tell
them that they are innocent. The judge tells him that many have been hung already, so they cannot
stop now because that would be unfair. What this passage says is, they are a group who believes in the
bible and worship the bible, and they are strict on witchcraft (Wiggins, 2012). If somebody accuses
someone of witchcraft, the only way to live is to confess that you are working with the devil. It also
shows how harsh the court is and how they do not let anybody be considered innocent by making
them lie to the court or they

Teach Chapter Summaries
Teach is a failure person in the play. Money has determined his personal relationships. He could not be
a real friend or a real businessman. At first, Teach associates with Don as a real friend, but if there
exists any kind of relationship that is based upon profit. They do not have any feeling for each other.
They end their conversation by saying see you later . They can say good bye to each other and show
their sympathy for each other. Teach talks about friendship as if it is an slogan that no more exists. He
suggests separating friendship from business. Business makes Teach conceive both the robbery and
friendship as business deals. Bob has tried to maintain the good relationship with Don. When he saw
that it is urgent for Don to get back the coin, he tells lie to him. He wanted to sell a buffalo nickel to
him. Actually, he wanted to help Don by giving the coin. Bob acquires his own buffalo nickel so that
he can barter with Don for his friendship. Ruthie also has tried to be a good friend. When Don calls
her to ask about Fletch, she gives the exact information. She helps Bob and saves him from Teach. She
ensures that Bob is not a liar. Though she is angry with Teach and Fletch, but she is helpful to Bob.

realized that the community was missing something and that there was more in the world. Jonas

His parents did, and Lily did, and so did all of his group members and friends. But there were a few
exceptions: Jonas himself, and a female Five who he had noticed had the different, lighter eyes, (pg.
20 Lois Lowry). Only those with light eyes would become the next Receiver of Memory, which is
why it was such an important detail. In the Giver movie, it was changed into a birthmark. That
birthmark was shaped like a triangle and in the movie, all Receivers of Memory had them. The third
main difference between The Giver book and the movie was the Chief Elder s role. In the Giver book,
the Chief Elder was not much of an important character, The initial speech at the Ceremony of Twelve
was made by the Chief Elder, the leader of the community who was elected every ten years, (pg. 51
Lois Lowry). However, the Chief Elder played an important role in the Giver movie. In the book, the
Chief spoke in a few chapters during Ceremonies and that was all. The Giver movie s Chief Elder
always watched Jonas closely. She started becoming suspicious of Jonas, and so she would warn Jonas
mother and The Giver. She then found out about Jonas plan to escape. When she did, she ordered
Asher to lose him (The Giver movie). That meant she wanted Asher to kill Jonas. This essay was

Rock Climbing As An Adventure Sport
1. Introduction
Between the years 1990 and 2006, there was a 37,514 person increase in membership of the British
Mountaineering Council (BMC the National Governing Body for rock climbing in the UK). Rock
climbing, as an adventure sport, is constantly growing in popularity (Haas Meyers, 1995; Long, 1993;
Watts, Martin, Durtschi, 1993). It is a multiple discipline activity that encompasses different forms
such as bouldering, top roping and lead climbing on real and artificial surfaces. There are now over
63,000 UK members of the BMC and more than 150,000 active climbers in the UK alone (BMC,

Research regarding the physiology of rock climbing has indicated the importance of taking climbing
style into consideration when making comparisons between studies (Sheel, 2004; Watts, 2004) due to
the different physiological effects on performance. Draper et al (2008) report onthat the differences
between the physiological and psychological responses to the different forms of rock climbing,;
indicating that climb time, post climb lactate concentrations, peak heart rate, average heart rate and
self reported anxiety (CSAI 2R) were significantly higher for lead climbing (LC) than for top roping
(TRC) . However, Draper et al (2008) offer no explanation for these findings. Similarly, Hardy and
Hutchinson, (2007) report that anxiety levels in beginner climbers were significantly higher for their
lead climb than in their top rope ascent. It is now widely accepted that the inherent threat of physical
harm which is evidenced to be apparent during lead climbing, leads to elevated levels of anxiety

The M Ori Culture
Most well known civilizations are fairly young in their life spans. The United Kingdom, France, Italy;
all these cultures as they are known today have only existed for approximately 400 years. The Māori,
an indigenous culture of New Zealand, have existed for a millennia. Specialized in nautical exploits,
the Māori thrived off of the island s bountiful seas and developed a unique, rich identity as a people.
Yet rather than being regarded as a national treasure, most of New Zealand s citizens and the rest of
the world treat the aboriginal population as a novelty. Most top search results for Māori Culture are for
attractions, guided tours, and similar spectacles. This culture, which has persisted for nearly a
thousand years, is gradually withering into little more than a side show attraction. Rather than
scholarly journals, articles, and history text, is instead an encroaching investment of the Māori as
capital, and how businesses may benefit from them (Rigby, Mueller, Baker, 2011, 121). This plight of
exoticism is not exclusive to the Maori; aboriginal and indigenous societies all over the world are
forced into a unique cultural adaption in order to survive in Western capitalist climates. Companies
assume a guise of social interest, but there is one and only one social responsibility of business to use
its resources and engage in activities designed to increase its profits so long as it stays within the rules
of the game (Rigby, Mueller, Baker, 2011, 118).

the whole group impelling T Dog to the concrete demanding leadership until Rick knocks Merle to

Sects of Ancient Judaism Essay
At the end of the Second Temple period, many sects of Judaic belief began arising with the growing
imposition of the Hellenistic beliefs of the conquering Greeks. Some of these sects arose in
accordance with the newly prominent Hellenism, and others formed strongly in opposition to these
foreign beliefs. The three main groups that appeared during this period were the Pharisees, the
Sadducees, and the Essenes. The biggest conflicts arose very prominently between the Pharisees and
the Sadducees.
The Pharisees came into existence as a class in the third century BCE. They lived very simple lives
and didn t believe in the ideas of luxury. After exile, Israel abandoned the ideas of a monarchical

The Sadducees, unlike the Pharisees, only believed that the written law was valid, and did not adhere
to Oral Law. The Sadducees were highly populated by the people of high society such as the
aristocracy and the priesthood who clashed with the lower class common man (typically Pharisees).
They were the dominant priestly party throughout almost all Greek and Roman rule. They also
maintained very powerful political control by always siding with the ruling power. This made them
very unpopular with the people of Israel. Also, for this reason, the Pharisees became more and more
the leaders of the people of Israel. The Sadducees were highly influenced by the Greek Hellenism.
They appreciated the Greek way of thought and belief and they believed that there is nothing beyond
what we perceive in this world. They were strongly opposed by the Pharisees for their adaptation of
these Hellenistic beliefs. In their eyes, there was no spirits or angels, no world beyond death, and no
divine intervention in the lives of man. They fit well into the Greek world of philosophers, always
questioning laws and beliefs.
The Pharisees maintained very strong traditional beliefs of the Judaic faith while the Sadducees
approached it with indifference and materialism. For these reasons, the Pharisaical beliefs have been
maintained through centuries of

I plan to answer questions about subjects including marriage, local government, gender roles, religion/
religious beliefs; more specifically the role females play. I will be figuring these questions out by
collecting data within the community and to do so properly, I will need to have an emic approach. An
emic approach is how the Tingunee people think, perceive other people, how they behave, and how
they imagine and explain things. I decided to take the emic approach over the etic approach because
the etic approach would involve me emphasizing what I think is important about a culture after
interpreting it and because the Tingunee people have not been studied before, I want other people to
know their culture and thought processes without including my opinions. An emic approach will allow
me to be a part of the community while taking in information without bias. After being amerced in the

The Problem With Employee Safety Essay
Employers spend thousands of dollars to ensure workplace safety. However when an accident occurs,
and company production and sales are at stake, many overlook operational best practices in business
ethics. Today, companies are greatly impacted by societies evolvultion toward a good place for
everyone diverse in culture, religion, and socioeconomic background. This trajectory drives social
changes, activists, and theorists who believe attaining the good is worth pursuing and has no
boundaries. As Aristotle noted, the end goals of political and individual well being are justice and
happiness (Collins 2015). In examining the Trouble in the Truss Construction Shop case study, a
pragmatic approach was used to ethically formulate possible remedies to the company s issue with
employee safety. Explanation of the problem and viewpoints One week ago, John Craftsman, a
company employee severely injured his hand while pushing a piece of wood through a table saw
during his shift at the Truss Construction Shop. Mr. Craftsman is the third accident in the current
quarter that has workers in the shop upset and claiming unsafe working conditions. The workers have
reported to OSHA and the local newspaper that the company has failed to accept responsibility for
employee safety. The quarrel over who is the blame for the accident has caused unwanted publicity
and could potentially jeopardize business sales. A thorough examination of the employee and
company s viewpoints were

SeaWorld: a park known for shows with sea lions, otters, dolphins. Though perhaps the most
important factor is the daily Killer Whale presentations. The first SeaWorld park opened on March 21,
1964 in San Diego. Throughout the years, people have questioned whether SeaWorld is morally right.
In the film Blackfish (2013), former and present SeaWorld trainers, SeaWorld representatives, and
people who have experienced SeaWorld are interviewed and tell about their stories and thoughts on
SeaWorld. Being emotional, and, at times, graphic, the film is a perfect example of why Killer Whales

a punishment itself. Another trainer told her views on SeaWorld. Issues pertaining death were pushed

Why Coding Should Be Mandatory In Public Education
Coding Should Be Mandatory in Public Education
As robotics continues to integrate with current occupations, an increasing amount of industries are
experiencing demand for computer programming or coding skills. Robots are becoming prevalent in
numerous industries across the globe,
Allen 4 consuming a myriad of once uniquely human jobs (Johnson). Businesses and industries are
implementing robotics and coding more extensively in this digital era. Therefore, computer science
and, in particular, coding should be mandatory curricula in public education that will future proof
students for job acquisition and enhance primary language literacy.

in Raja 614). This supports the idea that as robot implementation meets human innovation, people
naturally change those aspects of their lives, which may mean a need for greater emphasis on CS
education. Robots will continue to consume once primarily human jobs, creating a more vastly
integrated workforce. Students today will work alongside these robots and/or be the ones coding them
in the future (Wohl). Thus, it is becoming more necessary to educate students starting at an elementary
level to be technologically literate by not just interfacing with computers and robots, but
understanding them and speaking their language a skill with a growing demand (Raja

Coding is becoming an essential skill in the job market allowing workers to adapt to the integrated
human robot workforce; therefore, it is imperative that CS and coding education be mandatory and
begin early. There is currently robotic disruption in many sectors like education, energy, health, and
transportation. For example, companies have begun designing robots to aid special education students,
and much like automobiles, robots have been implemented in solar panel production decreasing costs
and increasing precision (Johnson). Chase Johnson reports in his article, Robotic

America s Obsession With Chocolate
Mankind s obsession with chocolate dates back as early as 1750 B.C. What started out as a form of
currency has now turned into a symbol of love and commitment. In the United States alone, the
consumption rate of chocolate is steadily increasing. This is not surprising as Valentine s Day brings in
more than 50.8 million pounds of chocolate in just one week. Yet, with numbers like that the United
States fails to rank in the top 10 countries for chocolate consumption worldwide. It is evident the
United States loves its chocolate, however, most people are unaware of the slavery involved with the
production of it. Each year hundreds of thousands of children are captured and forced to work on

Obtaining the sweet chocolate that we all love requires a precise yet complex process. The early stages
of making chocolate are done by children, mostly ages 12 to 16, who have been captured and
trafficked. These children have been taken from their families in countries such Mali and Burkina
Faso and sold to cocoa farms. The children undergo terrible working conditions which exposes them
to harsh chemicals. Some are often the victims of mental, physical and or sexual abuse. (Huschke
2011) Kantianism refers to our ability to make moral decisions without the use of emotions of
feelings. (Nall 69) When thinking in terms of this theory, one should be able to put their feelings aside
in order to look at the situation in a rational perspective. The main idea is to be able to view a situation
through a universal lens. When applying this theory to the chocolate industry, one would look at the
situation as if it were a small child being enslaved or an adult. Everyone should be treated as if they
are worth something rather than be used for someone else s personal gain. If chocolate consumers
implied the Kantian theory to the production industry of chocolate, they would need to act for the sake
of duty without implementing their emotions. We would have to look at the situation in a way that
affects everyone. Based on the current conditions, everyone should be able to enslave someone if it

Designing a Driving Instructor Robot
Driver Bot Paper
Introduction/Overall Project Description
The idea for the Driver Bot came from a simple discussion about driver s education.
Driver s training and education are big events for young adults, but sometimes learning to drive from a
parent or from an online course can be too stressful. The Driver Bot was born from a need to invent a
new way to teach driving. Unlike online courses, the Driver Bot gives a better and more realistic
physical representation of driving. However, modern simulators can actually placed drivers in
situations, forcing to react to virtual situations. The Driver Bot was designed to be cheaper than these
simulators. This project is just a smaller scale of the actual project idea.

The simulators place drivers in dangerous situation without any risks. Drivers can gain experience
driving through snow, fog, and other environmental hazards.
Another type of modern day training is done through the computer. Online courses from sites such as
Driversed.com can help with not only training but educating drivers. In fact, training through the
computer has been an efficient way for many companies to train drivers.
Companies such as Instructional Technology, Inc., use these interactive computer lessons called
TREAD 1 that teach much like driving simulators8. Driver s training no longer has to be only on road
experience, and technology continues to evolve to give new ways to train.

Analysis Of The Book Bud, Not Buddy
I d rather be shot than sit around and watch my kids go hungry says one of the men trying to get
through the police line to illegally hop on a train headed west in Christopher Paul Curtis s (1999)
novel, Bud, Not Buddy (p.83). The novel is based during the Depression Era and describes a young
boy who has no family and is out on the lam trying to figure out what to do with his life. In one scene,
Bud, along with many others, tries to break a police line to get a free ride on a train to the west. The
crowd is screaming and pleading to get the police to let them get on the train, desperate for the
opportunities they believe can be found in the West. As depicted in this novel, during the Depression,
traveling West was a chance for a job or money, but one of the few ways to get there was by the
railroads. However, it wasn t just during the Depression that railroads offered hope for a better life.
Railroads have been depended on various amounts of times in America s history. It seems during some
of the hardest obstacles America has had to face railroads were an influence to the positive solutions.
They have revolutionized our country and have also contributed to a number of benefits. With today s
far advancements in technology, people overlook the significance of railroads. Although many people
may underestimate the importance of railroads to our nation, I believe that railroads were one of the
biggest advancements for America. This history and background of the production

Reflective Essay On Greek Culture
My experience attending the Seminar on Greece with Dr. Khosrowshahi was a very interesting, fun
and informational way to gain knowledge of the different cultures and history of other parts of the
world. I do not have an extensive knowledge of Greek history or culture. I enjoyed learning the
different traditions and cultural rituals of the Greek culture. I learned a lot about the history of Greece
and how much the history influences many other cultures throughout the world. The most interesting
fact and important impression I took away from the seminar is my Mother s name is Diane , neither
my mother or myself knew the Greek history behind her name. I enjoyed how Dr. K used different
ways to involve the students at the seminar to become engaged in learning and experiencing Greek
culture. I found the drum performance quite exciting and interesting. Also, the young ladies
demonstrating their cultural dance skills were very entertaining. After learning more about Greek
culture, I found it very interesting how much the alphabet and language influences American English.
The part of the seminar I enjoyed most was Dr. K demonstrating his knowledge of Greek music by
demonstrating the drum. I enjoyed many other aspects of the seminar as well. I enjoyed the visuals,
including the pictures and videos used to provide a visual experience of Greek culture. The Greek
culture artifacts and photos from previous trips to Greece was inspiring and exciting to experience as
well. Also, student interaction was impressive throughout the entire seminar. There is not anything I
disliked about the seminar. The only thing I did not like was having to take off work to attend. This is
not anything involving the seminar or the presentation. Furthermore, I am thankful I was able to have
the opportunity to take off work to attend this continuing education experience.
Prior to this seminar, I was not aware of the extensive history of the Olympic Games. It was
interesting to learn the Olympics originated before Christ. Also, the Olympics truly represent the
uniting of different cultures, religions and races. This is a very inspirational and motivating experience
considering the current division of cultures. When

The Meaning of War
The word war has been used many times, it s been in movies, newspapers, books, and video games but
what does it actually mean? War has been in human history before history was even recorded and
there isn t just one kind of war there are actually multiple forms of war but there is always one thing
that is the same. War is an intentional, widespread conflict between two political or opposing parties.
It can range from the indirect political war like elections to the direct and violent world war like World
War ll. A quote by Sun Tzu sums up war in The Art of War by writing War is violent action taken to
the utmost extreme .
There are many kinds of war with major and subcategories but when we think of war we generally
think of we re two sides face off against each other on the battlefield but there are two major
classifications with war. The first kind, violent war, is fought because of resources, religion, and
liberty and usually has high amounts of casualties to both sides. Major categories include Religious
War, Civil War, and World War all having major contributions to how they world is today. World war,
possibly one of the best known types of war because of World War l and World War ll. this type of war

overriding goal every day is to go home at the end of their shift. They learn that every encounter,
every individual is a potential threat. They always have to be on their guard because, as officers often
say, complacency kills. That is the point of the training. A training situation that an officer learns in the
academy is a suspect leaning into a car can pull out a gun and shoot at officers before they can react.
Another training technique is when a suspect has their back turned towards the officer; the suspect can
spin around and fire first. With a different scenario a suspect has a knife and is approximately 20 feet
away, they can run up to an officer and start stabbing before the officer can get their gun out of the

wrong. The author s story represents how Peter is puzzled to find true sense of himself
(parenting aspect) and what he turns out to be. Although different authors may write very
different stories, the setting can play an impactful role to becoming a developed character and
building awareness of oneself.
Furthermore, different authors use symbolism to represent young people. In the narrative
Eleven, symbolism is revealed through the balloon. After Rachel s dilemma with the red
sweater, she mentions, I wish I was anything but eleven, because I want today to be far away
already, far away like a runaway balloon, like a tiny o in the sky, so tiny tiny you have to close
your eyes to see it (Cisneros 3). The significance of the balloon (symbol) shows how Rachel
wants to be a free spirt and isolated. As Rachel turns eleven, her attitude towards the end of the
novella shifts due to her internal difficulties. The author shows this struggle by the balloon which
also brings out emotions of eccentricity. This reflects how Rachel growing up, strives to develop
a sense in self yet bring out strange thoughts. Additionally, symbolism is also used by Ray
Bradbury to interpret young people. In The Veldt, symbolism is shown

Summary Modigliani Miller
L1 Modigliani Miller (1958) The Cost of Capital, Corporation Finance and the Theory of Investment
This article mainly discusses the cost of capital, the required return necessary to make a capital
budgeting project worthwhile. Cost of capital includes the cost of debt and the cost of equity. Theorist
conclude that the cost of capital to the owners of a firm is simply the rate of interest on bonds.
In a world without uncertainty the rational approach would be (1) to maximize profits and (2) to
maximize market value. When uncertainty arises, these statements vanish and change into a utility
maximization. The goal is to get more insight in the effect of financial structure on market valuations.
I. Valuation of Securities, Leverage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The eventual returns to either of these investments would be the same. Therefore, the price of L must
be the same as the price of U minus the money borrowed D, which is the value of L s debt.
Proposition 2
→ re = ro + (ro rd) x D/E i = required rate of return on equity (cost of equity) pk = cost of capital for
an all equity firm r = required rate of return on borrowings (i.e., cost of debt or interest rate)
D/S = debt to equity ratio
That is, the expected yield of a share of stock is equal to the appropriate capitalization rate pk for a
pure equity stream in the class, plus a premium related to financial risk equal to the debt to equity ratio
time the spread between pk and r.
C. Some Qualifications and Extensions of the Basic Propositions
Effects of Present Method of Taxing Corporations
Proposition 1 becomes (with taxes):
τ = average rate of corporate income tax π = expected net income accruing to the common stock
holder
Proposition 2 becomes (with taxes): pk can no longer be indentified with the average cost of capital
when taxes come into play. Yet, to simplify things the writers will still do this.
Effects of a Plurality of Bonds and Interest Rates
Economic theory and market experience both suggest that the yields demanded by lenders tend

Writing Styles Essay example
Writing Styles
In this essay I will be going into detail about three different writing styles used in health and social
care. I will also be comparing the writing styles against each other.
Persuasive Writing Persuasive writing is all about trying to get someone s attention on something.
Persuasive writing use s specific features which help the information used to become persuasive
towards the audience. This could include using present tense, using emotive language, using rhetorical
questions, making opinions sound like facts, as well as using powerful verbs and adjectives etc.
Persuasive writing can be linked and used in many different ways. One of the ways would include
health and social care. This could be linked by usage in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The journalist also always puts out a headline that would immediately get the audiences attention. The
headline is always the art of the journalist work, as they see this as an opportunity to sell their story;
headline could be short, snappy, and catchy. After the headline the journalist provides the audience
with a short paragraph which sums up the story, some see this as a short introduction. The journalist
does this to gain the audience interest. Most people know that a person s eyes are always sighted upon
small amounts of writing and imagery. So the short paragraph would make the audience show some
interest towards the story. In health and social care journalistic writing is used a lot, whether this is
about the stories about the NHS being published. Or when major illnesses or problems are coming. An
examp0le of this would be when we went through the period of swine flue; wine flue was making its
front page everywhere. This not only was a disaster but it was the journalists dream, as they new it
was a hot topic to write about as it would gain many peoples attention, this would also push the
journalists ratings up.
All three writing styles are different from each other in variety of ways. We see as persuasive language
as a main way to get the attention of someone, where as reflective language is where you speak about
what had happened through out the day. However journalistic writing talks about

Power Of The Executive System
Mafurania
Mafurania is a burgeoning democracy and with this comes a particular need for accountability in its
political structure. This is due to the very real possibility of political overthrow and descending into
some form of dictatorship. This reality of African countries aspiring to full democracy and falling to
dictatorship has occurred many times, from the replacement of Idi Amin s dictatorship with another
dictator (Yoweri Museveni) to the rise of Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe. Thus, when analysing what
legislative, executive, and electoral system would best suite Mafurania the key factor is what system
will provide the best checks and balances on the leading power and what system will provide the
greatest political stability. In pursuit of the aforementioned, the best legislative system would be
bicameral, the optimum executive system would be presidential and the ideal electoral system would
be proportionally representative.
One of the primary purposes of a legislature is ensuring a limitation of powers of the executive (Hague
Harrop, 2004: 277). Indeed many legislatures are granted greater powers in passing laws than the
executive itself, such as the United States Congress (Hague Harrop, 2004: 275). However, it is
important that a balance is struck. With too little power, the legislature may be unable to provide
checks on the executive but with too much power stagnation can occur where no laws are passed
(Hague Harrop, 2004: 276). The latter has occurred in the

Baroque Music And The Baroque Era
Baroque music began in Italy and it spread to all other parts of Europe. The musical characters in the
baroque era pursued interests in subjectivity of the observers and created a deep human feeling while
composing their music (Harbison 22). This character of the baroque artists is depicted in several
works done by Michelangelo. One of the pieces of art was campidoglio on the hill capitalino. The
picture above takes the structure of a sculpture and it is placed in a three dimension space having
different open square loggia. It has lamps on the staircase as shown and there are various sculptures
existing. In relation to baroque music, as a person climbs the staircases near the lamp areas, the visuals

In such kinds of music the major has high range, the various consonants, and the fast tempo in the
music representing joy in the making of the music and the minor such as dissonant, the slow tempo
and low pitch in the music are used to represent the general feelings of sadness.
The messiah is characterized by an orchestral restraint something that was ignored by other musicians
who adopted the same genre of music, for example, Mozart (Steinberg 154). According to Lorraine
Hunt and Nicholas CD, the messiah begins with a quiet note, whereby the first chorus is paved the
way for by musical instruments (Lorraine and Nicholas). The whole oratorio does not have any
particular key but music specialists have concluded that it tends to lean towards an E major. I Know
My Redeemer Lives , music is far field from E major, which is a major scale specifically based on E.
It has a three part A B A structure and an obbligato trumpet that is expected by an opera audience
(Frideric 47). .
The opening soprano for part three, I Know My Redeemer Lives features a simple violin
accompaniment. The first scene tells of the resurrection of Christ based on the teachings of Job.
Soprano air starts in the part of the song I know that my redeemer liveth and that he shall stand... and
dominates the whole part of the music. This helps in creating emotions and feelings to

Factors Of Attitude Affect Behaviour
Attitude is a major factor affecting behaviour. Attitude is an evaluate statements or judgements
concerning objects, people or events. Attitudes are evaluates statements either favourable or
unfavourable concerning objects, people, or events. They reflects how one feels about something.
Attitudes are not the same as values, but the two are interrelated. 1.3.1Structure of Attitudes Structure
of an attitude can be described in terms of three components. Affective component: Affective
component involves a person s feelings / emotions about the attitude object. Behavioural (or conative)
component: Behavioural component is the way the attitude we have influences how we act or behave.

Everyone is born with certain genetic predispositions. Then, in our early years, people begin
modelling our attitudes after those they admire, respect, or shape our attitudes and behaviours to align
with theirs. People also imitate the attitudes of popular individuals and those they admire and respect.
In organisation, attitudes are important because they affect job behaviour. If workers believe, for
example, that supervisors, auditors, bosses, and time and motion engineers are all in conspiracy to
make employees work harder for the same or less money, then it makes sense to try to understand how
these attitudes were formed, their relationship to actual job behaviour and how they might be

  • 2. Examples Of Project Censorship In this media, censorship and propaganda essay I will define and explain what project censored is and what they mean by modern media censorship, providing examples. I will cover whether there are actually censorship issues or if the reporting is done containing deliberate imperfections to cloud the real stories that are being withheld from the American public; followed by examples of Junk Food News or News Abuse and my thoughts on those examples. Lastly, I will discuss free press and its effect on current and past event Project Censored is an organization that educates students and the public about the importance of a truly free press for democratic self government. We expose and oppose news censorship and we promote independent investigative journalism, media literacy, and critical thinking. Project Censored highlights the important links among a free press, media literacy and democratic self government. 1 Project Censored was created during the time of the Nixon Watergate incident. Dr. Carl Jensen, the founder of project censored, was shocked to see that Richard Nixon was elected to another term as President of the United States after all that happened with Watergate. Modern media censorship is a restrictive way of molding and shaping the way that the media presents news to the public. Student number: 11643 Word Count: 2048 Dyslexia according to the Oxford Dictionary is a general term for disorders involving difficulty to read or interpret words, letters or other symbols, but does not affect general intelligence. This essay will look at the theories of causality of Dyslexia and what types of behaviour would lead one to consider that a learner might be Dyslexic. In my many years of teaching I have come across children with different learning abilities. Some children have had a weakness in Literacy that required a more individualised approach. Even though none of them have been diagnosed with Dyslexia, they have helped me gain an understanding of the challenges they have faced. D. Shibulal, happened without a hitch, the issue of corporate governance isn t addressed with the seriousness it deserves. While concerns about succession are as old as the human race, professional research on succession planning and management began in earnest in the 1950s (Zaich, 1986). The chief focus of that research was on CEO succession until the 1980 s (Kesner Sebora, 1994). At that time, due to the growing interest in human resource planning, still a topic of interest today (Rothwell and Kazanas, 2003) research began to take on a broader focus that encompassed more than CEO s. The National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) defines succession management as a deliberate and systematic effort to project leadership requirements, identify a pool of high potential candidates, develop leadership competencies in those candidates through intentional learning experiences, and select leaders from among the pool of potential leaders. • 14. The Role Of The Puritans The Puritans The Puritans were a group of people who were set out to get away from the British colony. They came into America to start a new life set apart from their past experiences in a monarch society. Their intentions were to purify the churches of England of their Catholic way. They are a group who worship the Bible. They expect all other Puritans to know their Ten Commandments. They are one of the first groups to inhabit America. The first actual people were the Native Americans and then the Pilgrims. There is a difference between the pilgrims and the puritans. The difference is that the pilgrims came to America to get away from the Church of England and be separate. They want to separate because they believe that England is violating the rules of the Bible. The Puritans also came to get away from the church because they believed that the church in England still needed further reform. That is why they started their own church in America, so they can make their own rules and be free. The play is about the group of puritans who came to start their church in Salem. In the beginning, there was little talk of witchcraft (Wiggins, 2012). People were starting to grow suspicious of Parris because his slave and niece and a couple other girls were dancing in the woods (Wiggins, 2012). Also his daughter was in a coma and would not wake up. Eventually he decided to call in Hale, who is a professional with witchcraft, to determine what was going on. Although he was said to be professional, later on we come to find out that he was starting to think he was wrong but he keeps that to himself (Wiggins, 2012). Then towards the end after there had been many deaths, he decides to tell them that they are innocent. The judge tells him that many have been hung already, so they cannot stop now because that would be unfair. What this passage says is, they are a group who believes in the bible and worship the bible, and they are strict on witchcraft (Wiggins, 2012). Before we entered into our extreme training, we processed into the Army for a whole week at reception. Although different authors may write very different stories, the setting can play an impactful role to becoming a developed character and building awareness of oneself. Furthermore, different authors use symbolism to represent young people. In the narrative Eleven, symbolism is revealed through the balloon. After Rachel s dilemma with the red sweater, she mentions, I wish I was anything but eleven, because I want today to be far away already, far away like a runaway balloon, like a tiny o in the sky, so tiny tiny you have to close

In a world without uncertainty the rational approach would be (1) to maximize profits and (2) to maximize market value. The journalist also always puts out a headline that would immediately get the audiences attention. The headline is always the art of the journalist work, as they see this as an opportunity to sell their story; headline could be short, snappy, and catchy. After the headline the journalist provides the audience with a short paragraph which sums up the story, some see this as a short introduction. The journalist does this to gain the audience interest. • 42. Power Of The Executive System Mafurania Mafurania is a burgeoning democracy and with this comes a particular need for accountability in its political structure. This is due to the very real possibility of political overthrow and descending into some form of dictatorship. This reality of African countries aspiring to full democracy and falling to dictatorship has occurred many times, from the replacement of Idi Amin s dictatorship with another dictator (Yoweri Museveni) to the rise of Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe. Thus, when analysing what legislative, executive, and electoral system would best suite Mafurania the key factor is what system will provide the best checks and balances on the leading power and what system will provide the greatest political stability. In pursuit of the aforementioned, the best legislative system would be bicameral, the optimum executive system would be presidential and the ideal electoral system would be proportionally representative. One of the primary purposes of a legislature is ensuring a limitation of powers of the executive (Hague Harrop, 2004: 277). Indeed many legislatures are granted greater powers in passing laws than the executive itself, such as the United States Congress (Hague Harrop, 2004: 275). However, it is important that a balance is struck. With too little power, the legislature may be unable to provide checks on the executive but with too much power stagnation can occur where no laws are passed (Hague Harrop, 2004: 276). The latter has occurred in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
