Fugality Research Paper
The Order Behind Frugality Both Kemmu shikimoku, issued by the Ashikaga bakufu in 1336, and the
Code for the Warrior Households, issued by the Tokugawa bafuku in 1615, stipulated that it was
indispensable to practice frugality. Both Ashikaga bakufu and Tokugawa bafuku were new regimes
when they promulgated these two legal documents. While at first glance, these two legal documents
might seem to share similar attitudes toward frugality, in fact, they were different in nature. In this
paper, I would like to compare Kemmu shikimoku (1336) and the Code for the Warrior Households
(1615), by first closely examining the details of these two frugality laws and then speculating their
motivations for issuing the frugality law. In so doing, I wish to ... Show more content on

Both legal documents resorted to classics and tradition as justification. For instance, in Kemmu
shikimoku, the author confessed that he had selected the teachings of Japan and China, past and
present (Grossberg, 22). Likewise, at the end of the Code for the Warrior Households, it stated that
This is the clear admonition of the wise men of old (Wm. Theodore et al., 14). Such references to
history and tradition were necessary, since both Ashikaga bakufu and Tokugawa bakufu were newly
founded, when Kemmu shikimoku and the Code for the Warrior Households were issued respectively.
While both regimes solidified their legitimacy by embracing the history, their fundamental governing
ideologies had changed. On the one hand, the authors of Kemmu shikimoku still regarded virtue as the
most important thing for the government. It said in Kemmu shikimoku that The [Chinese] classics say
that virtue is good government, and government rests in the security of the people. The Shogun should
bring a speedy end to the people s suffering. (Grossberg, 16). Therefore, Kemmu shikimoku stipulated
the frugality law in order to bring a speedy end to poverty that resulted from basara, the ostentatious
display (Grossberg, 16). The ideal government that those eight legal specialists suggested to the

The aim of this early conciliation is to encourage as many cases as possible to settle compromising the
claim through a settlement agreement (previously called a compromise agreement ) an agreement
achieved through Acas conciliation (a COT3 ). Appendix 3 is an early conciliation Flow Chart
(ACAS)
If differences cannot be resolved an ET1 can be submitted to the tribunal with the relevant fee. The
claim is then logged (by the claimant) and a copy is sent to Acas and to the employer (respondent),
along with an ET3 form. The employer has 28 days to complete and return the response form to the
Tribunal. If the claim form is not returned on time a default judgment may be entered and the
respondent will not be permitted to defend the claim. The time limit for a submission is within 3
months of the date of termination of employment, certain clams such as redundancy have a 6 month
limit
Once the tribunal has made a decision, an award can be given. This can include compensation,
payment of wages or any money that is due to the employee. Reinstatement and re engagement are
also a choice but both of these are very rare. Judgment may not always be given on the day of the
hearing.

Singapore Teen Submits Amos Yee Summary
Do you feel like people should be able to express their feelings freely? 18 year old Amos Yee is being
put in jail for that reason. In the article Singapore Teen Submits US Asylum Claim in Immigration
Court , there are three human rights being violated. Free to say what you want, unfair detainment, and
the right to an asylum. The first major right that is being violated is the freedom to say what you want.
In the article, it says how Amos Yee was being harassed by the Singapore government for expressing
his views on the religion and politics publicly. The article also says the prosecution against him was
illegitimate because it was based on laws that were meant to restrict his freedom of expression.
Another right that is being violated

The Science Of Social Psychology
If you put good apples into a bad situation, you ll get bad apples , said Philip G. Zimbardo, a
prominent researcher of the field of social psychology. What is social psychology, you might ask? In
short, it represents and defines an individual s actions when the said individual is placed in a social
situation. It also defines how you choose to act, often subconsciously, in the face of others. The
science of social psychology is a youthful one, it s existence barely a century old. However, it is with
it s existence that we are able to decipher topics such as conformity, independence, and identity on a
logical basis. We use it, to a degree, to study how every group has an impact on a singular entity, as
well as how those impacts end up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His theories were tested in his famous line test experiments, where a participant, placed last in a row
of other participants (actors) were to choose the correct corresponding line for a set of lines. However,
all the actors were instructed to answer incorrectly, leading the participants to conform, on average,
about one third (32%) (Asch 1 70) of the time in the complete trials. In addition, the varying cases
monitored had shown that 75% of the participants had conformed at least once (McLeod) during the
duration of their tests. The majority of the subjects felt that their judgement was clouded, or, more
surprisingly, knew that the group was incorrect yet went with the flow to avoid conflict. The real
world impacts of this trial are massive: By placing individuals in groups, there bears the risk of
conformity overtaking the free will of the group through the want of the individual to fit in, known as
normative influence, or the clouding of their judgement through believing that the group has the better
answer, known as informational influence. This can have massive repercussions in group centric fields
such as politics, or affect the opinions of the members of a group during discussions. In addition, the
urge to fit in , often experienced by many teenagers, is attributed to the same effect. Conformity is a
powerful force, capable of weakening the strongest

Similarities Between Southwest And Southwest Airlines
Southwest Airlines comparison with other US Airlines:
Southwest s greatest strength is its ranking number one in US domestic airlines, in terms of number of
passengers/load factor as can be seen from Exibit 1 C with southwest topping the chart as compared to
other airlines. American Airlines, the world s largest airline, was on the brink of bankruptcy despite
$1.8 billion .Delta, with combined losses of $8.5 billion from 2001 to 2004, was almost bankrupt. ATA
Airlines, the tenth largest carrier in the United States, filed for bankruptcy in 2004. In general Us
Airline labor unions issues of wage reductions, pension cutbacks, and job uncertainty were happening.

The financial success of Southwest has received a large amount of free publicity that has certainly
helped to create an image of an airline to be trusted and used by many passengers. They had 31 years
of continuous profitability.
Lot of airlines came and tried to copy southwest model but almost 97% of the startups failed.
Southwest s competitive advantage in providing low cost is of the primary reasons which their
competitors couldn t match. The airline has the lowest costs on a per mile basis among all the major
airlines as they used single aircraft type and the highly efficient, high frequency ad point to point route
scheme. Due to this commoditization of the industry, passenger profiles have changed with business
and first class seat demand in great decline. This correlates perfectly with Southwest s position of no
assigned seats or class designations. Competing companies have been forced to introduce low fare
options in attempts to regain lost market share from low priced air carriers. Because Southwest s
strategy has always been low cost, and standardized travel, they have not had to change strategy. This
has saved them what could amount to millions on restructuring costs. Also, some of the competitors
tried to increase no of flights which resulted in operational ineffectiveness

Study of Fungi in Three Different Types of Media
All three fungi, Pleurotus pulmonarius, Pycnoporus sanguineus and Trichoderma sp. were grown in
three different type of media MEA, PDA and GYMP under conditions of pH 5.5 and temperature of
27.
Based on the graphs, Pleurotus pulmonarius grew faster in the medium of MEA followed by GYMP
and PDA. Pycnoporus sanguineus and Trichoderma sp. grew faster in MEA medium as well but
followed by PDA and then GYMP. The accumulative growth for Pleurotus pulmonarius in MEA
medium is 2.11875, PDA medium is 1.393333, and GYMP is 2.166666667. The accumulative growth
for Pycnoporus sanguineus in MEA medium is 2.247916667, PDA medium is 2.475, and GYMP is
2.348333333. The accumulative growth for Trichoderma sp in MEA medium is about 2.64 (
2.641666667) cm, PDA medium is about 2.53 (2.529166667) cm, and GYMP is about 2.85
(2.852777778) cm.
In triplicates of Pleurotus pulmonarius, white mycelium colonies were formed in both MEA and PDA
media, but white and orange colony were observed in GYMP medium. The MEA medium causes
Pleurotus pulmonarius to form dense mycelia, but less dense in media PDA and GYMP. Totally, none
of the media contributed to sporulation from Pleurotus pulmonarius and moreover, in MEA medium, it
took 6 days for it to grow to the maximum length provided while the GYMP medium, it took 7 days.
As for the PDA medium, even after 7 days, it did not reach the maximum length of the petri dish.
For Pycnoporus sanguineus, orange and white colonies is formed in all three media. This

Character Analysis Essay On Tomorrow When The War Began
In John Marsden s novel Tomorrow, When the War Began the characters are placed in a situation
where they show their worst qualities, but the war also brings out the best in them. All characters learn
something new about war and themselves as well. Characters show doubt, while others show their
leadership and courage abilities.
War can bring out the worst in people as it can make people doubt themselves, their actions and the
things the need to do to survive. This is evident in many of the characters; especially Ellie who starts
to doubt herself, once she realizes she may of killed 3 people. This is also evident in the rest of the
group, as they don t know how they will react once they are faced with the situation. Ellie notes, It
was hard to believe that I, plain old Ellie, nothing special about me, middle of the road in every way,
had probably just killed three people. It was too big [of] a thing for me to get my mind around. This
tells the reader that Ellie does not regret killing the soldiers, but she ... Show more content on

In particular, Homer grows up and steps up in order to show his leadership qualities. This is also
evident in Ellie as she always has been the leader of the group, but through the experience of war, she
was able to develop her leadership skills. Both Homer and Ellie learn to adapt to the threats of war
surrounding them, while they try to lead the group. Homer s inner strength is what has made him the
leader he is. This is because normal rules don t apply when it comes to war. This is revealing his
insight and positive attitude of being a leader as he has stepped up so much that the group started to
recognize Homer s leadership. This shows that there has been a massive change in Homer s qualities
in a good way. These two characters being out the best in them and let their leadership talents

The Most Effective Form of Media Essay
The Most Effective Form of Media There are many different types of media. The media is things like:
televisions, newspapers, magazines, radio, internet, cinema, phones and many more. Media is
important because it influences people to buy products. They are very affective and appeal to many
people. Adverts are things that show certain products and try to get you to buy them. The purpose of
adverts is to make you buy the products being advertised so they can make a profit. Companies spend
a lot of money on adverts because if the adverts are perfect the product s sales will be much higher

Channels four, five and ITV do show adverts because they need the money from the advertisement
companies so their channel can keep afloat. Sky and cable completely rely on television adverts
because they need it for the funding. The advantages of advertising on the television is you can have
sound, movement, special affects and it is visual. The disadvantages of advertising on the television is
that the programme you are watching is split up, people usually go for a snack when they come on and
the small print can be difficult to read. I have analysed a television advert and I have chosen, L Oréal ,
the shampoo and conditioner. The target audience for this is probably women that like to look after
their hair. The time the advert appeared was between nine and ten at night, on ITV. It was on between
Footballers Wives, and this was a good time to put it on as the target audience may have been
watching the television at this time. The reason I have chosen this product is because it has a lot of
hidden persuaders, and persuasive techniques. Persuasive techniques and hidden persuaders used are
the use of statistics, when it says that there was, 95% less brakeage of hair . There is also the use of
science when it shows a strand of hair, and it says, It has Nutri Cerimide R , which sounds impressive
so you want to buy it. There is also

The Matilda Effect
As writer, Virginia Woolf, once said, for most of history, anonymous was a woman. Elizabeth Gould
Davis pointed out in one of her books, that women take as great a risk of anonymity when they merge
their names with men in literary collaboration as when they merge in matrimony. According to
psychologist Steve Biko, the first weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Women s
history evaporates because our culture has a stake in erasing women from history and denying that
their participation or leadership ever existed.
The controversy surrounding women s involvement in science is great, and there have been countless
instances in history of women s discoveries and breakthroughs being credited to a man. So many
times, in fact, that there is a term specifically for this occurrence. Known as the Matilda effect , named
after women s rights activist Matilda Joslyn Gage, it refers to the process of the suppression of women
s contribution to science in regards to incorrect accreditation to a male counterpart for a woman s
research. It has seen a woman s scientific findings appropriated and Nobel Prizes awarded to male
colleagues and supervisors. Not only is this clearly unfair on every conceivable level, it highlights the

Slavery And The Worst Violations Of Human Rights Essay
Slavery is undeniably one of the worst violations of human rights. Slaves are denied of their basic
rights, and forced to labor in the worst of condition with little to no pay. Slavery goes against the
majority of articles in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights articles but most notably the forth
article that specifically prohibits slavery and servitude, but also the first couple of articles that clearly
state that all human beings are born free and equal, and are entitled to those rights (The United
Nations, n.d.). Yet the concept of slavery still persists to this day, even in the most developed parts of
the world. There are approximately 30 million individuals living as slaves today, be it forced laborers,
forced prostitutes, child soldiers and child brides. The common denominator of all these poor
individuals is that they are dehumanized and objectified, being considered as just another piece of
property that the slave owner owns. And while, slavery is a worldwide tragedy, it is most prominent in
the poorer parts of the world, most notably in the Indian peninsula, South East Asia and the African
Continent. In these regions, slavery has become a commonplace concept, with as much as 1 in every
25 individuals being a slave. As such it is clear that slavery and servitude affect a considerable amount
of individuals around the world, even as the practice itself is banned and illegal in most parts of the
world. This leads us to ask how can slavery and servitude be present

Air Pollution Is A Serious Issue Across The Country
Air pollution is a serious issue across the country as well as the entire planet. Whether that air
pollution is coming from one source, which could be an electric power plant, or air pollution that
occurs due to a location being inside of a valley, which can be seen famously in Los Angeles,
California. A more local issue can be seen within the Merrimack County of New Hampshire where
along the Merrimack River the surrounding communities are at a disadvantage due to being inside of a
valley. Due to the communities being inside of a valley much of the air pollution has no way to escape
at a relatively fast rate, thus causing serious air pollution within the area. Solutions for the problem of
air pollution can include, but are not limited to, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New Hampshire is not alone in the issues that they are facing when it comes to air pollution.
Other issues that cause the air pollution of a community to be an issue is the use of incinerators to
generate electricity for the community. Although this kind of method does benefit certain aspects of
the environment, the idea of not having a landfill, it does cause other issues where there are more
emissions that pollute the air. Although not located within the Merrimack County one incinerator
located in New Hampshire does give people a look into how these kinds of structures cause issues
with the air quality. Authors Xiahong Feng, Ann P. Melander, and Bjoern Klaue describe issues that
come from one incinerator located in Claremont, New Hampshire. The authors talk about how there
are many metals that are released into the air causing poor air quality within the community
surrounding it (Feng, Xiahong, Ann P. Melander, and Bjoern Klaue 2000). Those kinds of issues do
also correlate with the issues of young children developing chronic breathing problems due to being
located near those kinds of electric plants.
Another issues that is not exclusive to New Hampshire but is prevalent due to high amount of granite
rock located within the states, is the issue of radon that can cause issues with air quality as well.

The game by Telltale known as, The Walking Dead , places the player in morally ambiguous situations
where the player thinks their actions are responsible (inter(re)activity) and feel that exact

Inter(re)activity, Empathy and Complicity in The Walking Dead Video Game. , suggests this morel
conundrum on how games [have the] ability to involve the player in the game world through
inter(re)activity (Smethurst and Craps). There lyes a misconception in the game The Walking Dead
where the player is introduced to believe the players decisions effect a different outcome to how the
storyline will turn out.
We must first look at the article by Smethurst and Craps to show how the game pulls the player in
emotionally. The article discuses complicity, where inter(re)activity and empathy come hand in hand
in engaging the player. The player, more often than none, feel[s] as though they are complicit in the

Mary Davidereaux Male Gaze
In her Oppressive Texts, Resisting Readers, and the Gendered Spectator: The New Aesthetics, Mary
Devereaux discusses the notion of the male gaze. The male gaze is a term largely discussed by
feminists who ultimately criticize the patriarchal nature of mainstream art. According to Devereaux, a
gaze ought to be considered male, in the literal sense, if it is men doing the looking. In the figurative
sense, the male gaze refers to a viewpoint which places women as its object. Put simply, the gaze is
male if women are being used as entities of pleasure (Cahn 651). Still, Devereaux argues, there
remains a difficulty in fully understanding the definition of the male gaze. Part of this difficulty arises
from the fact that there is a failure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women evidently create films, too. Still, the institution of film making is undeniably dominated by
men. Even if men are not always creating the film, they are nevertheless controlling who does; the
male gaze is not always male, but it is always male dominated (654). This control is not meant to refer
to anatomy per se, but the idea that film contributes to the supremacy of men over women regardless
of its author (654). This type of control is significant because it implements a preference for films
which depict women who are aligned with patriarchal assumptions; men as subjects and women as
objects (654). Consequently, in film, women do not describe the world from their point of view.
Instead, women learn to submerge or renounce their subjectivity; they find their own identity in the
desires of the men to which they are attached (654). Therefore, Devereaux concludes, the issue is not
whether it is a male or female who is doing the looking. Rather, the question is whether a patriarchal
way of seeing the world triumphs regardless of who is behind the camera. In this sense, the discussion
of the literal gaze becomes a discussion of the figurative gaze (654). Still, the literal viewing of a film
nevertheless has an empirical practicality; watching a film is irrefutably a visual experience.
Additionally, as Devereaux illustrates, there is a damaging objection to the literal/figurative
distinction: men, like women, do not merely look. Their looking mimics a particular way of thinking
about and acting in the world (654). Of course, this raises the question of how the figurative way of
seeing which we deem male translates to film. It also inclines us to question in what ways women are
represented from the male viewpoint. Devereaux suggests

Similarities And Differences Between Mesopotamia And...
Civilizations are radical states of human society that include a high level of culture, morals,
knowledge, manufacturing, and government. Mesopotamia was one of the most astounding
civilizations that anyone discovered. The location of this nation fell right in between the Tigris and
Euphrates Rivers, where modern day Iraq is located. It was positioned right along the fertile crescent .
Because of this, the soil was very rich which caused great agriculture. It was one of the first
cultivations to roam the earth. Mesopotamia had many phases, which included the Ubaid, Uruk,
Jemdat Nasr, Early Dynastic, Akkadian, Babylonian, Assyrian, and Persian period. Every stage had
their own unique trait. Something new and exciting happened for each era. During 4300 BCE, the late
Ubaid period in Mesopotamia began. Many events and actions took place during this time.
Mesopotamia was an outstanding region and contained many treasures, including pottery, inventions,
architecture, and Ziggurats. Civilizations are created and formed all over the world. What we see as
normal can be seen as a total obscenity in another. A strong society is always required in order for
each group to become successful. The ability to survive is the main key to acquiring a successful

The Case Of Ludviga Pukas
What makes someone want to make a change in the world? For some, it is a deep desire to be a part of
something bigger or better than themselves. Yet for others, it is a family connection or interest that
sparks their conscience. For example, when people are moved to do things like adopt children,
something in their heart tells them that she should be a part of something bigger in the world. That is
exactly the case for Ludviga Pukas, a domestic maid from Ukraine. It was her own morals and
faithfulness to her employer that left her to be remembered as one of the hundreds of thousands of
holocaust rescuers (Women of Valor).
In the later 1930s, Ludviga (Nina) Pukas found a job in a town then called Proskurov as a maid with a
mother, Frima Sternik, and her two children, ages four and one. She formed such a bond with a family
that even after she started her own family, she continued to stay with and work for them. She lived
with the family for a few years before the bulk of the war began. Then, on July 7, 1941, the Sternik s

children with limited resources in third world countries. Her example can inspire girls like myself for
generations to come as well. Her compassion for children makes me yearn for a time when I will be

Analysis Of Harry Potter And Dumbledore
In this film critique, I will be analyzing the first half of Harry Potter and The Sorcerer s Stone. The
film starts out on Privet Drive in the dark of night emphasizing something dark but important is about
to happen. Dumbledore is standing under a street light and is using magic to put the rest of the street
lights out when he notices a cat, who quickly transforms into Professor McGonagall. The darkness and
low voices emphasize danger and suspense. The character who plays Professor Dumbledore, Richard
Harris, is a perfect because of his voice and composure, he goes along perfectly with the book! His
presence demands respect and his composure makes him seem wise. The same goes for the Dursley
family; Aunt Petunia, Fiona Shaw, is a sharp/crinkle nosed, rude looking skinny woman, Uncle
Vernon, Richard Griffiths, is fat and boastful showing he s a horrible person, Dudley, Harry Melling,
is a short, fat and pig like looking boy his dad with the attitude combination of both parents, creating a
monster of a child. Daniel Ratcliffe is perfect for the part of Harry Potter because he s small, skinny,
you would never suspect anything abnormal by just looking at him.
Harry lives under the stairs at the Dursley with a lock on the outside of the cabinet and slot just big
enough for a dinner plate. This emphasizes the Dursleys feelings about Harry being there. Harry
receives his first letter from Hogwarts, the look on Uncle Vernons face shows deep concern, almost
like frightened.

An Argument For The Taxpayer
22. A. If a taxpayer from New Jersey just won $1000, the first questions that would arise would be if
the $1000 is taxable and if it needs to be reported. If this were indeed taxable income, we would need
to know the filing status of the taxpayer. If this taxpayer does have to report it, we would also need to
know the date that the taxpayer won this $1000. There would be potentially more questions that could
arise from this situation, but these are the two that would first need to be answered before digging
deeper into the scenario.

when the divorce was finalized.
B. A source of information that you might need would be prior year tax returns. This will provide
information on Mrs. K s income and what is/was taxable in current and prior years.
C. The facts that Mr. K is 50, previously divorced his prior wife and that he is a doctor is not relevant.
The relevant facts are that he pays Mrs. K $10,000 a month.
D. There is a good chance that there will need to be more questions asked in the future. After gaining
all the information that was requested in the questions above could potentially create more questions.
E. The first question that needs to be answered is the obvious one if the $10,000 is taxable income. We
will learn more to answering this question when we find out whether it is child support or alimony. It
is very easy to get these two confused, which in return could either cost or save Mrs. K $10,000 in
taxable income.
F. I believe that Mrs. K desires that the $10,000 is not taxable income. This will save her money on
her taxes if this is the case. This is important to be able to understand what your client wants and to try
and keep them happy. This also proves that, as a tax advisor, you need to be more careful that Mrs. K
does not construe the facts to get her desirable outcome.

Asl And The American Sign Language
American Sign Language is the interesting, logical, and fun to learn. ASL is the fourth most used
languages in the United States. ASL is used for hearing people to get the messages across to Deaf
people and Deaf community. Deaf people use American Sign Language to communicate with their
friends, family or their loved one who is deaf. Now parents are teaching their babies to learn ASL. The
American Sign Language gives children, their confidence, and self esteem in their lives. Deaf
Community vs. Hard of hearing is a different point of view, and their impact was to have opportunities
to have new friendships, connection to other people in the hard of hearing community and to be able
to talk with hard of hearing people easier.
The hard of hearing or non signer could be friends with deaf people by using American Sign
Language. The deaf people, hard of hearing and hearing people interact with each other in American
Sign Language. The most of the deaf people are usually comfortable communicating with hearing
people and people are happy that the hearing people are attempted using American Sign Language to
communicate and instead ignoring them. American Sign Language has overcome the communication
barrier for hard of hearing, hearing people, infants, toddlers and elderly grandparents who could not
hear. American Sign Language is a visual language, for example, the facial expression, body
movements and hand gesture. The deaf people priority was in person interacting and eye contacts

What Does The Pardoner Criticize Greed
Niccolo Machiavelli expressed, Of mankind we may say in general they are fickle, hypocritical, and
greedy of gain . Chaucer criticizes the church with the Pardoner an evil man living by greed and
hypocrisy. The Pardoner, a church head tells members to do one thing while he goes and does the
opposite. The Pardoner also steals directly from the church believing he deserves money over the
church. Chaucer ironically criticizes the church through the Pardoner who is both hypocritical and
greedy. The Pardoner is a hypocrite he preaches on how you should live your life, while ironically
partaking in exactly what he says to avoid. And it only gets worse he not only commits the
unforgivable sins, but he is completely open about them all. The Pardoner

What Is The Success Of The Battle Of Pork Chop Hill
The Battle of Pork Chop Hill
Introduction
The US ARMY field artillery begins in the colonial period when American patriots were fighting
against the British for imposing the three intolerable acts that infringed on the rights of the Americans
especially for the residents of Boston who were more affected by these laws. In retaliation, the
Americans were forming a militia and had created a supply depot to support these militia
organizations. The General at that time sent troops to destroy the supply stores and in anticipation of
this, the American militia waited along the British routes and poured fire on the British. The General
sent a troop with two pounds of explosives used to destruct and disperse the Americans. This was
when the Americans realized that they needed Artillery as well ( RIGHT OF THE LINE , 1984).
The American Field Artillery was born in November, 1775 under the leadership of Henry Knox a
twenty six year old book sales man who was a self made Artillery man. Through his leadership, the
Americans were able to launch several attacks against the colonists. The last attack was in in 1781 in
the battle at Yorktown when the British finally surrendered and retreated to Britain. The success of the
Field Artillery was evident in the final battle against the British although the British at that time had
more artillery weapons than the Americans. It is the skill of the Soldiers and training to endure long
hours of war that enabled the American Soldiers to win the battle

Analysis Of Saint Teresa
In Religious Experiences , Saint Teresa argued that her two experiences were valid because she was
conscious of the lord s presence. In this paper, I will be exploring the two religious experiences Saint
Teresa encountered while analyzing the argument about the epistemic value the experiences could
possibly have. The first religious experience Saint Teresa had, she did not see Jesus, but was only
conscious of Christ s presence. Saint Teresa was petrified at first. All she could do was cry with fear;
when the lord spoke one word to her she was filled with feelings of happiness and was free from fear.
She later went to her confessor to tell him about the incident that had occurred. Saint Teresa stated,
I told him that I did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second religious experience Saint Teresa had differed from the first one. When God revealed
himself to her it was not just a feeling of his presence. She claimed to have seen him with the eyes of
the soul and body. When Jesus revealed himself to Saint Teresa, it was quite gradual. It started with his
hands. A few days later he revealed his face, then later revealed his entire body to her. She was again
fearful at first, but the indescribable beauty took her fear away.
Your Reverence may suppose that it would have needed no great effort to behold those hands and that
beauteous face.... I began to feel such certainty and security that my fear was soon lost, (St. Teresa
42).
By physically seeing Jesus, it gave her an even stronger conformation that the experiences were valid
and not from her imagination. The beauty was too indescribable not to be genuine. When she was
questioned, she defended herself by saying,
If the devil were doing this to delude me and drag me down to hell, he would make use of means
which so completely defeated their own ends by taking away my vices...making me virtuous and
strong; for it was quite clear to me that these experiences had immediately made me a different person,
(St. Teresa 43).
She truly believed that these experiences were unquestionable. She explained how she had changed
her for the better and became a stronger individual, and that her prayers were being answered
differently from

Duty Of Care Case Summary
1. In this case Ms. Smith might sue a building management for entering her apartment with out her
consent or, at least, the notice. However, that statement might be rejected since the building manager
had to act fast in order to prevent further damages, caused by flooding, for Ms. Smith s and her
neighbor s apartments. There is no tort occurred because Mr. Johnson had a legal authority to enter
Ms. Smith s apartment. On the other hand, the tort occurred when Mr. Johnson moved Ms. Smith s
goods from her apartment to the locker. In this case, we can say that those goods are chattels, which
are movable forms of property. Trespass to chattels occurs when a person interferes with chattels that
are in another person s possession and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, she has to prove that defendant owes her a duty of care. It must be reasonable foreseeable
that Ms. Smith s goods could be damaged or stolen by the carelessness of the building management.
And, even if that was foreseeable, there might not be any policy considerations that would make it
unfair to impose duty of care. When Ms. Smith proves that building management has to properly
maintain locker premises and provide a decent security, she can move to the second step. She has to
prove that the defendant breached the standard of care. Since Mr. Johnson didn t provide enough
security to the locker and acted less carefully, the standard of care was breached. The standard of care
is based on the Reasonable Person Test , which means that Mr. Johnson must had acted in the same
way that a reasonable person would act in similar circumstances. This means that Mr. Johnson had to
provide security measures in order to keep Ms. Smith s goods safe. Next, Ms. Smith has to prove that
the harm was caused. Ms. Smith has to prove that she would not have suffered a loss of stolen goods
but for the defendant s carelessness. If she will prove that there is at least a 51% chance that the Mr.
Johnson s carelessness caused her loss, then the court will award damages for all of that loss. Finally,
Ms. Smith has to prove that that type of harm she suffered was a reasonably foreseeable result of the
defendant s carelessness. This can be proved by doing a remoteness test. When

Personal Narrative Losing Weight Essay
Personal Narrative Losing Weight
I know I should lose weight. It requires a lot of perseverance that I one time had and need to find
again. Many of the reasons I should lose weight are very clear to me. I have read many articles and
have heard what my doctor has told me. I lost over forty pounds about three years ago, unfortunately, I
gained it back two fold when I was pregnant with my daughter. I still have not been able to get rid of
this weight since she was born. Sometimes it causes me to get tired just from going to the grocery
store. I also found out in September of last year that I have hypertension (high blood pressure) which
effected my vision drastically by the following November. Other problems are social such as the ...

Currently I must take a pill every day in order to keep my hypertension under control. Since I am not
fond of taking medication, I would not miss taking it if losing weight would get rid of my
hypertension all together. If I forget to take my pill first thing in the morning, I begin to get headaches
and start feeling a little edgy by noon. My doctor is in the opinion that my weight is the main cause of
my high blood pressure. I also began to have problems with my eyesight almost immediately after I
learned I had hypertension. My vision began to get blurry and I felt pressure behind my eyes that
scared me greatly. I had to get a much stronger prescription for my contact lenses and now have to
return to my eye doctor to have my eyes tested every six months. My optometrist tells me that it is
possible to reverse the effects the hypertension has had on my eyes. These health issues have become
serious problems for me and if I lost weight, there is a strong possibility of becoming free of these
problems. Losing weight would also reduce the risk of other health problems. My doctor has
explained several of these risks to me. I do not remember all of them, but the ones that stick out in my
mind the most are very common among the world today. He mentioned several forms of cancer to me.
Breast cancer and ovarian cancer were among the ones that woman have a higher risk of being

During this Report we will be looking at the different types of resources available for new learners in
Health and social care. I will be reviewing four different types of resources I have researched. I will
also explain why they are presented differently from one another and the different types of ways these
resources can be presented by the media.
Internet The internet is easily accessible and used worldwide. It is a global network and you can find a
wide range of information on any topic via the internet. You can gain access on to the internet by using

The book I used as a resource (Understanding Health and Social Care, Second edition, Julia Johnson,
Sage publications, 2010) contained references, so that I knew where the piece of information was
coming from and that it was from a reliable source. It had a contents page, with the chapter and page
number, making it easier for myself to find a particular subject. There was also an index pages, which
helped me to locate useful information. There was a lot of technical words and some jargon in this
book and I did have to make a note of the words I didn t fully understand in order to go back and look
them up to fully understand. Books can be presented by the media through the radio, billboards,
television, social media sites and the internet. Understanding Health and social care is targeted at
students and people working within the Health and social care sector. It is presented differently
because it has lots of references and is updated when new information comes out or when what was
previously written in the book has now become outdated.
Journals A journal is subject based and is written by experts and professionals. A journal is usually
researched based and will be based upon facts with references/ evidence to support the writer s
findings. Journals are known as periodical as they are published at regular intervals which could also
make them a better resource than a book. The resource (Psychology review, volume 20, April 2015)

Trust In Julius Caesar Essay
I m not entirely sure who has been able to guess this minor fact about me, although I think it may be
only slightly obvious. I have serious trust issues. Where they stem from one could only guess. It could
be from humanity s uncanny ability to show a magnificent display of its love for betrayal and
watching those around me find their role of Julius Caesar. In my long and (quite frankly) emotionally
disappointing career as a student, I have watched friends psychologically destroy and humiliate each
other time and time again. Frequently, people are destroyed by the information they provide to others
while under the illusion of trust. I find that the simplest solution to never getting stabbed in the back is
to not provide the dagger, but maybe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would not have the title of control freak if the people I found myself paired with were capable of
turning in adequate work on time. Alas, it is rarely ever so. Therefore, I am awarded the position of
Micromanager and Untrusting Person.
As safe as my closed off character keeps me, I sometimes wonder if I should be so okay with solitude.
To rely on people is to be human, and I do rely on people, but I also realize that my hate of
vulnerability might be preventing the life experiences that require trust. On the other hand, I guess I
would rather have a few best friends that know me well enough and a family that knows me slightly
better than many friends that could stab me in the back at any moment.
It might just be in my head, but anyone reading this piece (or really anything I write) might be gaining
the perception that I am a fairly negative person. That assumption would be half right. I might not be
above assuming that all people are capable of leaking secrets if it causes any personal gain. I might not
be above the unfortunate belief that anyone might do anything if the right price is found. Privately (or
maybe not so privately), I understand that the world is screwed up worse than even I could possibly
imagine. However, for a pessimist, by all standards, I actually have quite a sunny disposition. I am
definitely not to be confused for the naturally happy sort, but I do

Layers of The Atmosphere Bri Caamano Our atmosphere on Earth has many different layer which
protect us from the harmful elements in space. Our atmosphere is divided into five layers. The
troposphere is the first layer closest to earth. In this layer weather occurs, this is also the closest layer
to us. The second layer would be the stratosphere. The stratosphere is one of the most stable layers.
Due to the stability of this layer jets and aircrafts fly within this area. The Mesosphere is the third

Next is the mesosphere which extends up from the stratopause to about 80 kilometers. The
mesosphere can drop down to nearly 100° C which is equal to ~200° F. This is the coldest layer in the
atmosphere. The thermosphere is final thermally definitive layer of the atmosphere. In this layer,
temperatures can reach up to up to 725° 1, or 225° C. The thermosphere can be divided on the basis of
chemistry. The lower thermosphere, the ionosphere extends from roughly 80 kilometers, or 50 miles,
too somewhere around 300 to 600 kilometers out. After the ionosphere comes the exosphere. The
exosphere is the second outer layer of the thermosphere. It lies beyond about 500 1,000 kilometers and
is defined by an increasing hydrogen and helium level. This is because the oxygen and nitrogen that
control the lower atmosphere have been broken into ions in the ionosphere. The layer that secedes
from the exosphere is the homosphere. The homosphere is the portion of the lower atmosphere with
almost no Ionization. Finally, the heterosphere, the area in which you get varying mixes of gas
molecules and ions, is the last layer in the thermal structure of our atmosphere. It reaches heights
between 80 and 10,000 kilometers. These layers show the thermal structure of our atmosphere.

Analysis Of Baz Luhrmann
Baz Luhrmann Essay By Warwick Taylor Baz Luhrmann s directional style is not about naturalism.
Rather, Luhrmann uses his cinematic language, storytelling techniques and his belief in a theatrical
cinema to assure viewers that they are indeed watching a movie. In this essay I will tackle some
aspects of his movies in his red curtain trilogy, namely Strictly ballroom , Romeo and Juliet and The
Great Gatsby that indeed prove my topic statement. The setting of the movies is a clear indicator to the
audience that the movie that they are watching is indeed just that, a movie. The setting of Strictly
Ballroom is in Australia, but when the view thinks about Australia, the setting that comes to mind is
the Sydney Opera House, white beaches and long walkways. But in Strictly Ballroom we are greeted,
with small halls, dark alleyways and people struggling for money (something that we don t associate
with Australia at all). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gatsby is set in New York, the city of dreams. This is the setting that makes viewers feel most
comfortable as many would have gone there and seen many of the sites that are in the movie (Empire
State Building). However it is an unfamiliar New York mostly set in Long island, a place for the

In the book of Amos, the poor were treated as outcast and were discriminated against. The government

The Five Stages Of Freud s Theory Of Development
Introduction
Theories of development provide a framework for thinking about human growth, development, and
learning. The psychosexual theory of development was proposed by the famous psychoanalyst
Sigmund Freud, this theory defines how personalities grow during childhood that can later be reflected
in the attitude and behaviors of adults. Freud believed there to be five stages of psychosexual
development: Oral, Anal, Phallic, Latent and Genital. At each of these stages, pleasure is focused on a
particular part of the body. Too much or too little pleasure in any one of these stages caused a fixation
which would lead to personality or psychological disorders. The purpose of this assignment is to
evaluate whether the students are able to apply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first Freud would likely recommend that parents encourage their children s natural tendencies to
focus on the above body parts and functions without allowing the children to overindulge. I think most
parents naturally try to guide their children toward control in all things, but of course, if you believe
Freud s theories, it seems logical that parents will certainly be limited by their own fixations left over
from childhood, making it especially difficult for them to objectively steer their kids. I believed that
the most applicable part of Freud s psychosexual theory is said to be observed during the phallic stage,
concerning the Oedipus complex. Freud s theory states in psychology when a small child develops an
unusual attraction to one of their parents.
Conclusion
Now I can conclude that Freud s psychosexual theory only can explain and predict some of the human
development. In my opinion, Freud explained the oral, anal, latency and genital stage

The Causes And Consequences Of The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was a huge turning point in history at which the development of industry
began in England in the 18th century. It introduced machinery to the world. The industrial revolution
was characterized by hand production to new machine manufacturing, the increased use of steam
power, the rise of the factory system and development of machine tools. As time passed by, the
technological innovations continued to shape the modern world, Everything that everybody uses
throughout their daily lives is due to manufacturing. How would people ever have been able to put a
man on the moon or get to travel from New York to Paris without the things that came from the
Industrial Revolution? Of course, the consequences of the industrial revolution were brutal, but for the
most part there were solutions to those consequences, that changed the world for the greater good. The
benefits of the industrial revolution outweigh the costs because it led to the creation of unions, and the
technological innovations from the industrial revolution helped change the lifestyle of many people.
Some will say that the benefits of the industrial revolution do not outweigh the cost because child
labor was terrible, and many workers were working in horrible condition at low wages for long hours.
When the industrial revolution began, the rise of the factory system was high. But there were no rules
of how a factory should be run, considering it was a capitalist economy. In a capitalist

Neoliberalism In Canada
Introduction Unions have a long and sometimes contentious history in Canada, although they are also
the source of many of the labour laws and standards that we have come to accept as normal. However,
since the 1980s, an increasing trend towards favouring neoliberal policies has erased many of the
social welfare and employment standards gains by unions, with particularly harsh effects on more
vulnerable populations including women, immigrants, younger workers, and Aboriginal peoples. A
striking example of these shifts is seen in the restaurant sector in B.C., where recent controversies with
Canada s temporary foreign worker program has at least brought some discussions of worker s rights
to the headlines in regional and national newspapers. Unfortunately, despite this new attention the
current political climate continues to be hostile to workers groups and to workers rights. Changes:
Neoliberalism in Theory and Practice in Canada and British Columbia Neoliberalism is a direct
descendent of 19th century liberalism and was explicitly intended to re create laissez faire conditions

Nuclear Physics Of The Society Development
Nuclear physics in the society development
Nuclear physics is the field of physics that studies atomic nuclei and their constituents and
interactions. The most commonly known application of nuclear physics is nuclear power generation,
but the research has led to applications in many fields, including nuclear medicine and magnetic
resonance imaging, nuclear weapons, ion implantation in materials engineering, and radiocarbon
dating in geology and archaeology. Nuclear physics has a lot of importance in general society
development. Ernest Rutherford (1871 1937): Known as the father of nuclear physics, the New
Zealand born scientist was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1908 for his investigations into
the disintegration of the elements, and the chemistry of radioactive substances . Nuclear Physics as we
know it today is almost a hundred years old. In 2009, we celebrate the centenary of the publication of
the results of the Geiger Marsden (or gold foil) experiment performed at the University of Manchester.
Nuclear Physics positively influences our daily lives. There are many benefits to nuclear physics,
these benefits take many forms. When done properly it can encourage interest, develop support for the
research. From fighting cancer to assuring safety of food, to protecting our borders, nuclear physics
impacts the lives of everyone around the world every day. These applications include devices and

Immigration Reform In The US
The federal government has failed to enact immigration reform and invest in infrastructure to restore

persons that stand before the law are treated the same regardless of their race, religion, skin color,
national origin, and even sexual identity. I think that the U.S. is ready for immigration reform because
it s become a matter of basic civil rights for the millions of people who are living in the U.S. illegally.

Over the years, lawmakers didn t make big investments into infrastructure in the U.S. because they
didn t know how to fund infrastructure without raising taxes or adding to the national deficit. So, the
root cause of a problem like neglected infrastructure in the U.S. stems from American political
processes. Political processes are basically how something gets done. In 2009, fiscally conservative
Republicans turned down a $478 billion investment plan for infrastructure (Berman, 2015). But, I don
t think that lawmakers can keep putting off on investments in public safety because the U.S. is losing
economic competitiveness, jobs, and growth. One of Trump s biggest campaign promises was
revitalizing U.S. roads, bridges, and airports. Trump says that his $550 billion infrastructure plan will
grow the U.S. economy and create more jobs (Great Again, 2015). Trump s also planning on private
sector investors funding this project with tax credits to give investors a return on their investments. I
think it s about time for a more reliable and efficient transportation system. For example, in 2007, the I
35W bridge in Minneapolis collapsed during rush hour, killing 13 people and injuring 145 people
(Change, 2007). Faulty design led to the bridge collapse. One more example is an Amtrak train that
derailed in Philadelphia in 2015, killing 8 people and injuring 200 people (Calvert Loftus, 2015). The
train accelerated toward a curve but investigators didn t know if the engineer caused the train to speed
up, if there was a mechanical error, or if there was something about the track that cased the crash.
Airports in the U.S. are also operating beyond the capacity that they were intended to manage and that
s why terminals are crowded and there s longer waiting times to get through customs especially at
international airports. One time, Joe Bidden even compared LaGuardia Airport in New York to some

Fugality Research Paper The Order Behind Frugality Both Kemmu shikimoku, issued by the Ashikaga bakufu in 1336, and the Code for the Warrior Households, issued by the Tokugawa bafuku in 1615, stipulated that it was indispensable to practice frugality. Both Ashikaga bakufu and Tokugawa bafuku were new regimes when they promulgated these two legal documents. While at first glance, these two legal documents might seem to share similar attitudes toward frugality, in fact, they were different in nature. In this paper, I would like to compare Kemmu shikimoku (1336) and the Code for the Warrior Households (1615), by first closely examining the details of these two frugality laws and then speculating their motivations for issuing the frugality law. For instance, in Kemmu shikimoku, the author confessed that he had selected the teachings of Japan and China, past and present (Grossberg, 22). Likewise, at the end of the Code for the Warrior Households, it stated that This is the clear admonition of the wise men of old (Wm. Theodore et al., 14). The Shogun should bring a speedy end to the people s suffering. (Grossberg, 16). Therefore, Kemmu shikimoku stipulated the frugality law in order to bring a speedy end to poverty that resulted from basara, the ostentatious display (Grossberg, 16). What is social psychology, you might ask? In short, it represents and defines an individual s actions when the said individual is placed in a social situation. It also defines how you choose to act, often subconsciously, in the face of others. The science of social psychology is a youthful one, it s existence barely a century old. However, it is with it s existence that we are able to decipher topics such as conformity, independence, and identity on a logical basis. Due to this commoditization of the industry, passenger profiles have changed with business and first class seat demand in great decline. This correlates perfectly with Southwest s position of no assigned seats or class designations. Competing companies have been forced to introduce low fare options in attempts to regain lost market share from low priced air carriers. According to psychologist Steve Biko, the first weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Women s history evaporates because our culture has a stake in erasing women from history and denying that their participation or leadership ever existed. Slaves are denied of their basic rights, and forced to labor in the worst of condition with little to no pay. Slavery goes against the majority of articles in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights articles but most notably the forth article that specifically prohibits slavery and servitude, but also the first couple of articles that clearly state that all human beings are born free and equal, and are entitled to those rights (The United Nations, n.d.). Yet the concept of slavery still persists to this day, even in the most developed parts of the world. There are approximately 30 million individuals living as slaves today, be it forced laborers, forced prostitutes, child soldiers and child brides. The common denominator of all these poor individuals is that they are dehumanized and objectified, being considered as just another piece of property that the slave owner owns. And while, slavery is a worldwide tragedy, it is most prominent in the poorer parts of the world, most notably in the Indian peninsula, South East Asia and the African Continent. In these regions, slavery has become a commonplace concept, with as much as 1 in every 25 individuals being a slave. • 15. Mary Davidereaux Male Gaze In her Oppressive Texts, Resisting Readers, and the Gendered Spectator: The New Aesthetics, Mary Devereaux discusses the notion of the male gaze. The male gaze is a term largely discussed by feminists who ultimately criticize the patriarchal nature of mainstream art. According to Devereaux, a gaze ought to be considered male, in the literal sense, if it is men doing the looking. In the figurative sense, the male gaze refers to a viewpoint which places women as its object. Put simply, the gaze is male if women are being used as entities of pleasure (Cahn 651). Still, Devereaux argues, there remains a difficulty in fully understanding the definition of the male gaze. Part of this difficulty arises from the fact that there is a failure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Women evidently create films, too. Still, the institution of film making is undeniably dominated by men. Even if men are not always creating the film, they are nevertheless controlling who does; the male gaze is not always male, but it is always male dominated (654). This control is not meant to refer to anatomy per se, but the idea that film contributes to the supremacy of men over women regardless of its author (654). This type of control is significant because it implements a preference for films which depict women who are aligned with patriarchal assumptions; men as subjects and women as objects (654). Consequently, in film, women do not describe the world from their point of view. Instead, women learn to submerge or renounce their subjectivity; they find their own identity in the desires of the men to which they are attached (654). Therefore, Devereaux concludes, the issue is not whether it is a male or female who is doing the looking. Rather, the question is whether a patriarchal way of seeing the world triumphs regardless of who is behind the camera. In this sense, the discussion of the literal gaze becomes a discussion of the figurative gaze (654). Still, the literal viewing of a film nevertheless has an empirical practicality; watching a film is irrefutably a visual experience. Additionally, as Devereaux illustrates, there is a damaging objection to the literal/figurative distinction: men, like women, do not merely look. Their looking mimics a particular way of thinking about and acting in the world (654). Of course, this raises the question of how the figurative way of seeing which we deem male translates to film. It also inclines us to question in what ways women are represented from the male viewpoint. Devereaux suggests ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. What Is The Success Of The Battle Of Pork Chop Hill The Battle of Pork Chop Hill Introduction The US ARMY field artillery begins in the colonial period when American patriots were fighting against the British for imposing the three intolerable acts that infringed on the rights of the Americans especially for the residents of Boston who were more affected by these laws. In retaliation, the Americans were forming a militia and had created a supply depot to support these militia organizations. The General at that time sent troops to destroy the supply stores and in anticipation of this, the American militia waited along the British routes and poured fire on the British. The General sent a troop with two pounds of explosives used to destruct and disperse the Americans. This was when the Americans realized that they needed Artillery as well ( RIGHT OF THE LINE , 1984). The American Field Artillery was born in November, 1775 under the leadership of Henry Knox a twenty six year old book sales man who was a self made Artillery man. Through his leadership, the Americans were able to launch several attacks against the colonists. The last attack was in in 1781 in the battle at Yorktown when the British finally surrendered and retreated to Britain. The success of the Field Artillery was evident in the final battle against the British although the British at that time had more artillery weapons than the Americans. It is the skill of the Soldiers and training to endure long hours of war that enabled the American Soldiers to win the battle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Analysis Of Saint Teresa In Religious Experiences , Saint Teresa argued that her two experiences were valid because she was conscious of the lord s presence. In this paper, I will be exploring the two religious experiences Saint Teresa encountered while analyzing the argument about the epistemic value the experiences could possibly have. The first religious experience Saint Teresa had, she did not see Jesus, but was only conscious of Christ s presence. Saint Teresa was petrified at first. All she could do was cry with fear; when the lord spoke one word to her she was filled with feelings of happiness and was free from fear. She later went to her confessor to tell him about the incident that had occurred. Saint Teresa stated, I told him that I did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second religious experience Saint Teresa had differed from the first one. When God revealed himself to her it was not just a feeling of his presence. She claimed to have seen him with the eyes of the soul and body. When Jesus revealed himself to Saint Teresa, it was quite gradual. It started with his hands. A few days later he revealed his face, then later revealed his entire body to her. She was again fearful at first, but the indescribable beauty took her fear away. Your Reverence may suppose that it would have needed no great effort to behold those hands and that beauteous face.... I began to feel such certainty and security that my fear was soon lost, (St. Teresa 42). By physically seeing Jesus, it gave her an even stronger conformation that the experiences were valid and not from her imagination. The beauty was too indescribable not to be genuine. When she was questioned, she defended herself by saying, If the devil were doing this to delude me and drag me down to hell, he would make use of means which so completely defeated their own ends by taking away my vices...making me virtuous and strong; for it was quite clear to me that these experiences had immediately made me a different person, (St. Teresa 43). She truly believed that these experiences were unquestionable. • 28. Duty Of Care Case Summary 1. In this case Ms. Smith might sue a building management for entering her apartment with out her consent or, at least, the notice. However, that statement might be rejected since the building manager had to act fast in order to prevent further damages, caused by flooding, for Ms. Smith s and her neighbor s apartments. There is no tort occurred because Mr. Johnson had a legal authority to enter Ms. Smith s apartment. On the other hand, the tort occurred when Mr. Johnson moved Ms. Smith s goods from her apartment to the locker. In this case, we can say that those goods are chattels, which are movable forms of property. Trespass to chattels occurs when a person interferes with chattels that are in another person s possession and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, she has to prove that defendant owes her a duty of care. It must be reasonable foreseeable that Ms. Smith s goods could be damaged or stolen by the carelessness of the building management. And, even if that was foreseeable, there might not be any policy considerations that would make it unfair to impose duty of care. When Ms. Smith proves that building management has to properly maintain locker premises and provide a decent security, she can move to the second step. She has to prove that the defendant breached the standard of care. Since Mr. Johnson didn t provide enough security to the locker and acted less carefully, the standard of care was breached. The standard of care is based on the Reasonable Person Test , which means that Mr. Johnson must had acted in the same way that a reasonable person would act in similar circumstances. This means that Mr. Johnson had to provide security measures in order to keep Ms. Smith s goods safe. Next, Ms. Smith has to prove that the harm was caused. Ms. Smith has to prove that she would not have suffered a loss of stolen goods but for the defendant s carelessness. If she will prove that there is at least a 51% chance that the Mr. Johnson s carelessness caused her loss, then the court will award damages for all of that loss. Finally, Ms. Smith has to prove that that type of harm she suffered was a reasonably foreseeable result of the defendant s carelessness. This can be proved by doing a remoteness test. When ... Many of the reasons I should lose weight are very clear to me. I have read many articles and have heard what my doctor has told me. I lost over forty pounds about three years ago, unfortunately, I gained it back two fold when I was pregnant with my daughter. I still have not been able to get rid of this weight since she was born. Sometimes it causes me to get tired just from going to the grocery store. Since I am not fond of taking medication, I would not miss taking it if losing weight would get rid of my hypertension all together. If I forget to take my pill first thing in the morning, I begin to get headaches and start feeling a little edgy by noon. My doctor is in the opinion that my weight is the main cause of my high blood pressure. I also began to have problems with my eyesight almost immediately after I learned I had hypertension. My vision began to get blurry and I felt pressure behind my eyes that scared me greatly. I had to get a much stronger prescription for my contact lenses and now have to return to my eye doctor to have my eyes tested every six months. My optometrist tells me that it is possible to reverse the effects the hypertension has had on my eyes. These health issues have become serious problems for me and if I lost weight, there is a strong possibility of becoming free of these problems. Losing weight would also reduce the risk of other health problems. My doctor has explained several of these risks to me. There was a lot of technical words and some jargon in this book and I did have to make a note of the words I didn t fully understand in order to go back and look them up to fully understand. Books can be presented by the media through the radio, billboards, television, social media sites and the internet. Understanding Health and social care is targeted at students and people working within the Health and social care sector. • 31. Trust In Julius Caesar Essay I m not entirely sure who has been able to guess this minor fact about me, although I think it may be only slightly obvious. I have serious trust issues. Where they stem from one could only guess. It could be from humanity s uncanny ability to show a magnificent display of its love for betrayal and watching those around me find their role of Julius Caesar. In my long and (quite frankly) emotionally disappointing career as a student, I have watched friends psychologically destroy and humiliate each other time and time again. Frequently, people are destroyed by the information they provide to others while under the illusion of trust. To rely on people is to be human, and I do rely on people, but I also realize that my hate of vulnerability might be preventing the life experiences that require trust. On the other hand, I guess I would rather have a few best friends that know me well enough and a family that knows me slightly better than many friends that could stab me in the back at any moment. It might just be in my head, but anyone reading this piece (or really anything I write) might be gaining the perception that I am a fairly negative person. That assumption would be half right. I might not be above assuming that all people are capable of leaking secrets if it causes any personal gain. I might not be above the unfortunate belief that anyone might do anything if the right price is found. In this layer, temperatures can reach up to up to 725° 1, or 225° C. The thermosphere can be divided on the basis of chemistry. The lower thermosphere, the ionosphere extends from roughly 80 kilometers, or 50 miles, too somewhere around 300 to 600 kilometers out. After the ionosphere comes the exosphere. The exosphere is the second outer layer of the thermosphere. It lies beyond about 500 1,000 kilometers and is defined by an increasing hydrogen and helium level. This is because the oxygen and nitrogen that control the lower atmosphere have been broken into ions in the ionosphere. The layer that secedes from the exosphere is the homosphere. Rather, Luhrmann uses his cinematic language, storytelling techniques and his belief in a theatrical cinema to assure viewers that they are indeed watching a movie. In this essay I will tackle some aspects of his movies in his red curtain trilogy, namely Strictly ballroom , Romeo and Juliet and The Great Gatsby that indeed prove my topic statement. The setting of the movies is a clear indicator to the audience that the movie that they are watching is indeed just that, a movie. The setting of Strictly Ballroom is in Australia, but when the view thinks about Australia, the setting that comes to mind is the Sydney Opera House, white beaches and long walkways. • 36. The Five Stages Of Freud s Theory Of Development Introduction Theories of development provide a framework for thinking about human growth, development, and learning. The psychosexual theory of development was proposed by the famous psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, this theory defines how personalities grow during childhood that can later be reflected in the attitude and behaviors of adults. Freud believed there to be five stages of psychosexual development: Oral, Anal, Phallic, Latent and Genital. At each of these stages, pleasure is focused on a particular part of the body. Too much or too little pleasure in any one of these stages caused a fixation which would lead to personality or psychological disorders. I believed that the most applicable part of Freud s psychosexual theory is said to be observed during the phallic stage, concerning the Oedipus complex. Freud s theory states in psychology when a small child develops an unusual attraction to one of their parents. It introduced machinery to the world. The industrial revolution was characterized by hand production to new machine manufacturing, the increased use of steam power, the rise of the factory system and development of machine tools. As time passed by, the technological innovations continued to shape the modern world, Everything that everybody uses throughout their daily lives is due to manufacturing. How would people ever have been able to put a man on the moon or get to travel from New York to Paris without the things that came from the Industrial Revolution? Of course, the consequences of the industrial revolution were brutal, but for the most part there were solutions to those consequences, that changed the world for the greater good. The benefits of the industrial revolution outweigh the costs because it led to the creation of unions, and the technological innovations from the industrial revolution helped change the lifestyle of many people. Some will say that the benefits of the industrial revolution do not outweigh the cost because child labor was terrible, and many workers were working in horrible condition at low wages for long hours. Neoliberalism In Canada Introduction Unions have a long and sometimes contentious history in Canada, although they are also the source of many of the labour laws and standards that we have come to accept as normal. However, since the 1980s, an increasing trend towards favouring neoliberal policies has erased many of the social welfare and employment standards gains by unions, with particularly harsh effects on more vulnerable populations including women, immigrants, younger workers, and Aboriginal peoples. A striking example of these shifts is seen in the restaurant sector in B.C., where recent controversies with Canada s temporary foreign worker program has at least brought some discussions of worker s rights to the headlines in regional and national newspapers. Unfortunately, despite this new attention the current political climate continues to be hostile to workers groups and to workers rights. All persons that stand before the law are treated the same regardless of their race, religion, skin color, national origin, and even sexual identity. Over the years, lawmakers didn t make big investments into infrastructure in the U.S. because they didn t know how to fund infrastructure without raising taxes or adding to the national deficit. So, the root cause of a problem like neglected infrastructure in the U.S. stems from American political processes. Political processes are basically how something gets done. In 2009, fiscally conservative Republicans turned down a $478 billion investment plan for infrastructure (Berman, 2015). But, I don t think that lawmakers can keep putting off on investments in public safety because the U.S. is losing economic competitiveness, jobs, and growth. One of Trump s biggest campaign promises was revitalizing U.S. roads, bridges, and airports. Trump says that his $550 billion infrastructure plan will grow the U.S. economy and create more jobs (Great Again, 2015). Trump s also planning on private sector investors funding this project with tax credits to give investors a return on their investments. I think it s about time for a more reliable and efficient transportation system. For example, in 2007, the I 35W bridge in Minneapolis collapsed during rush hour, killing 13 people and injuring 145 people (Change, 2007). Faulty design led to the bridge collapse. One more example is an Amtrak train that derailed in Philadelphia in 2015, killing 8 people and injuring 200 people (Calvert Loftus, 2015). The train accelerated toward a curve but investigators didn t know if the engineer caused the train to speed up, if there was a mechanical error, or if there was something about the track that cased the crash.
