Duvet Covers Advantages And Disadvantages
The duvet covers are an integral part of the bedding. The covers not just make the bed look
beautiful but it also helps in protecting the duvets. The duvets are used every day so they need to
be washed frequently in order to be kept clean. As an everyday used item the duvets can absorb a
lot of dust and also spills. If the duvetis not cleaned and it keeps on absorbing dust and moisture,
then it can become the home of several germs.
The duvet covers are also known as the comforter covers. There is a wide range of benefits of
using these covers. The covers can provide you comfort, convenience and style. They can be
easily changed as they are cost effective. They can be bought in any color, style and a variety of
materials.

The length of the fibers of the Egyptian cotton are really long which means that it is of high
quality. It can be spun into finer and thin fiber. This results in creating soft sheets and lighter duvet
covers. The reason for buying the high quality fiber is the lightness of the fiber.
The lighter covers are less warm as compared to the covers which are heavy and thick. The
heavier and hot covers make you perspire more and all of that moisture is absorbed by the duvet.
If there is a cover over the duvet, the moisture will be absorbed by the cover. The cover will
absorb the moisture and it will keep the moisture from getting in the duvet. The duvet will be kept
safe and clean with a cover over it. The longevity of the duvet also depends on the quality of the
cover.
The fabrics percale and the sateen are similar to each other and yet they are pretty different from
each other. One of them is crisp and cool and has a matte finish while the other is woven to
create a silky, smooth and luminous finish. The percale has light weight and it is more breathable
which make sit perfect for the warmer side. The sateen fabric has a silky smooth surface and a

Walnut Venture Asociates Deal Terms
Harvard Business School 9 899 097 Rev. November 19, 1998 Walnut Venture Associates (D):
RBS Deal Terms It was Friday, June 5, 1998, and Bob O Connor was headed home for the
weekend. He knew it would be a busy one, for he had many decisions to make. He had been
trying to raise capital for his Company the RBS Group, a software firm for almost a year. He felt
like he was finally nearing the end of this process, but now more issues had arisen. First, his
prospective investors wanted to increase the amount of their investment. While he would be happy
to have the extra money, he felt that the valuation on RBS was already lower than he had hoped,
and he was reluctant to take more money at this price. Second, he had received a draft... Show more

Why Sexist Language Matters Kleinman
Summary One/10 In her essay Why sexist language matters (Qualitative Sociology, 2002),
Kleinman argues that sexist language is a social problem because masculine generic language has
many stereotypically masculine terms and expressions that affecting ways that people are speaking
that has consequences and can be eliminated. One of the examples, is when masculine term is used
in language by many people to refer to women s occupation titles, like, chairman and postman.
When women are called chairman it makes women less in society than men. The demonstration that
use of feminine generic language could be used to refer to both women and men, such as,
chairwoman, would hurt men s feelings because it makes men less in society than women. The use
of masculine generic language becomes a sexist language when makes women less in society than
men and excludes women from English language.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, masculine generic language used in consideration of the norm that represents humans,
like, All men are created equal. This expression is male biased because the masculine term men
refers to both men and women that makes women invisible. Similarly, male biased masculine
term guys. The form of address you guys associated with group of men but used to refer to both
men and women in one group or refer to women s group only that make women unseen. However,
sexist language is a problem in our society because many people not able to see male biased

Ford Case Analysis
Major Issues
Ford Motor Company is facing a major decision with regards to its supply chain strategy moving
forward. The underlying question is, how should the company use emerging information
technologies and ideas from new high tech industries to change the way it interacted with suppliers?
. Within Ford, there are 2 major, and opposing views. First, there are those that feel strongly that
Ford should follow Dell s model of virtual integration (reaping the benefits of vertical integration
without vertically integrating) using the model to communicate effectively with its suppliers,
achieve and focus on inventory velocity, and allow its component suppliers to specialize. The other
group believed that the Dell model would not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this type of history, it can often be difficult for a company to make radical changes that will
provide the competitive edge in the future. Ford is on the right track with its implementation of
the Ford 2000 restructuring plan. Ford needed to implement a globalization strategy, and needed
to decide whether they wanted to adopt Dell s supply chain strategy. My decision is to follow Dell
s model where it makes sense for Ford, not blindly in all possible areas.
Advantages of following Dell s model are as follows: * Implementation of better technology will
not only setup Ford for the future, but also its supplier base. Long lasting partnerships can be built.
* Efficient and effective communication and coordination will be created. * Improved control over
suppliers, ability to monitor performance. * Lower inventories through better forecasting. *
Inventory velocity concept to be introduced and followed by Ford.
Some potential disadvantages of the implementation of Dell s model: * New costs will be incurred
in development of new web based systems, also time spent in training Ford s supplier base. *
Difficulties of implementing a true build to order model in the automotive industry. * Implication
for information sharing between Ford and its suppliers trust issues? * Will the new supply chain be
able to overcome the lack of technology within its supplier base?

The Pros And Cons Of Non-Tactical Voting
voting/tactical voting, thus, the mentality of a wasted vote is no longer an issue, which plagues
the SMP system and is a focal point to why voter turnouts are so low. Essentially, all the
disadvantages associated with the SMP system would be fixed by switching to the AV system. Even
though the system would seem fixed, in regards to the electorates, here are cons that arise with the
alterative voting system. The first disadvantage that arises from the AV system is that it is not a
proportional represented system, thus it still fails at fully representing the people s political
thoughts. Secondly, within the Electoral Reform Society s article they state that Lower preferences
can potentially throw up a lowest common denominator winner without much positive support of
their own. There are controversies with both systems, yet the AV system has a higher chance for
electorates choices and votes to matter in the long run, which seems to be the biggest issue for why
voters do not vote.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The alternative vote would benefit the province because it allows for voter turnouts to rise,
preferably in the younger demographics, and allows citizens the satisfaction of knowing that their

Self evaluation or self leadership (Runn, 2011) forms a critical part of a leaders repertoire and some
key blocks of the foundation for this persons leadership. If someone can ultimately say that they
fully understand themselves, they will find it much easier to understand others around them.

The Leadership Steps Assessment (LSA) (Clawson amp; McNay, 2000)discusses the
importance of identifying six leadership ability, as also discussed above. One of ability is to
clarify their own center. Clawson define that clarity of core values is a key leadership
characteristic, because if one is not internally clear about priorities, what it is good to do, what it
is ethically acceptable, the influence of others may sway one s behavior away from achieving
one s goals or from ethical means of achieving them. Covey identifies these activities as Emotional

Malware Assignment
Malware Assignment In these days, cyber attacks have become a huge problem for online
communities. Malware, such as viruses, Trojans, worms, spware, ad ware, and many other forms
are becoming an increasingly popular methods to infect computer machines. Malware, also known
as malicious software, is used by hackers, and criminals around the world to disrupt computer
activities, and gain access to private, or important information in computer systems, and to gather
that information illegally. There are countless forms of malicious software, and they can be located
everywhere, such as on widely known websites, advertisements being displayed, and more.
Computer Viruses The first type of malware, and probably the most popular, is the computer virus.
Computer viruses are man made malicious software programs, that are designed to duplicate
numerous times into other computer programs, or data files. They enter the computer, without the
user knowing. When the replication is completed, the areas that were affected with the viruses are
known to be infected. Viruses quickly take up available memory, and can even be capable of
transmitting themselves through networks, and bypass anti virus programs. Most of the time,
computer viruses are spread by attachments in email messages, or other methods of messaging,
which is why it is essential for users to not open emails from anonymous senders. There are
multiple harmful things viruses are able to perform on computers that are

Long Day s Journey into Night by Eugene O Neill
Long Day s Journey into Night by Eugene O Neill is a complicated story. It shows a day in the
life of a dysfunctional family. This family is made up of four extremely different personalities.
Tyrone is the sympathetic father. Mary is the morphine addicted mother. Jamie is the difficult older
son and Edmond is the sick younger son. Everyone in this familyhas their strengths and
weaknesses. In Tyrone s case his strengths and the weight of his family s weakness makes him the
most sympathetic. Jamie is the opposite. His flaws weigh more than his family s strengths. The
typical reader can easily find Tyrone as the most sympathetic and Jamie as the least sympathetic.

makes him happy. Tyrone has paid for Jamie to go to not just one but multiple colleges. In return
to this opportunity Jamie quit every single one of them. As a last resort for his son to still be
successful in life, Tyrone has used his sphere of influence in the theater world to get him various
roles. All Tyrone gets in response to this help is distain. Jamie tells Tyrone that he hates acting.
Jamie blames his father for his acting career instead of thanking Tyrone for giving him some sort
of career. Jamie is not the only ungrateful member of Tyrone s family. When Mary returns home a
few months before the play takes place, Tyrone has a car waiting for her. Tyrone does not even
like cars. He would prefer to walk but Tyrone believes that a car would allow Mary to get away
from the house and get some fresh air (1641). When Tyrone suggests that Mary take a drive she

Dependency on Technology in a Modern World
Dependency on Technology in a Modern World
Introduction
Technology has virtually defined the human condition since the early stages in the species
evolution. First there were rudimentary tools such as arrows and hammering utensils which
allowed humans a far great range in manipulating their environment. Further developments such
as fire, clothing, and shelter and so on changed the way humans lived and every aspect of their
lives. Today s societies have more advanced tools such as a laptop, IPod, GPS, cell phone, a
seemingly infinite number of other gizmos and gadgets that shape their lives. This essay will
question whether these devices will add to our wellbeing and improve our lives or if the
development of technology has hit a threshold point in which further developments are of little
practical value or even of negative consequence.
Communications
Of all the advancements in technology from its inception, the advancement in communication has
to be one of the most revolutionary forces that have come about. People now can communicate
with nearly anyone else in the world for very little cost and instantaneously through a variety of
mediums. People are free to move around the globe and never lose contact with the people that
they care about. Students can live video chat with other student half way around the world and can
even form interactive classrooms with a wide range of participants. Professors can record a lecture
that can be hosted on a site for anyone to

Dbq Essay On Roman Culture
The United States has adopted parts of Ancient Roman culture into modern day life. Over time
Rome became the superpower of the Mediterranean controlling a vast amount of city states. Power
from trade, innovative minds, a powerful military, and influence from other cultures combined to
make Rome one of the most powerful regions of the time period. The United Stateshas taken some
aspects of Romes culture and has incorporated it into society making both regions similar. Roman
culture was like our own culture in the United States today because of the system of government,
the use of sporting events to escape the affairs of daily life and the funeral inscriptions on grave
markers.
The United States government and the government of the Roman Republic are similar because of

inscriptions on the grave markers to tell a little about the person s life and to honor them for the
life they lived. Many people of the United States adopted this same tradition in order to honor
their dead. Grave markers now a days have evolved to include the date of the person s birth and
death, their full name, and a short note about their life. Like the Romans, modern day citizens put
the gravestones up in memory of the people in their lives who have passed away. Years may have

West Jest vs Air Canada Essay
How serious is the threat from conventional airlines that want to imitate the westjet culture? What
does it take to imitate organizational culture? Can Air Canada compete against westjet s employee
productivity and its relationship with its employees?
Ever since its establishment in 1996, WestJet has aimed to operate as a low cost carrier while
employing non unionized members in a unique organizational culture. In its simplest form this
unique organizational culture can be labeled as a labor managed firm. In a labor managed firm
employees are owners, and they are affected by the company s performance through profit sharing.
Then it should not be surprising that in labor managed firms, the employees can voice their
opinions and actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A labor force in its most basic form, through profit maximizing practices, must be minimized, due to
the cost associated with it, in order to drive up profit. And it is because of this outlook that WestJet
has managed to outperform their competition, for example Air Canada. This theory is in sync with
the findings of Jeffery Pfeffer in his 1995 paper Producing sustainable competitive advantage
through the effective management of people.
As described above, the organizational culture, the foundation of WestJet s success, is heavily
weighted on its people. Where as the competition, sees the workforce as a cost and aims to
minimize it, WestJet looks at their work force as an asset and an investment. Conventional
airlines run their business as any other company. They look out for the shareholder s best interest
and do not pay the slightest attention to their workforce. In WestJet s culture, the workforce
consists of the shareholders due to profit sharing and co operative environment. By nature
capital managed firms will have a hard time converting to labor managed firm. They will have to
change a lot of rules and regulations that governs their everyday operations. They will face a
large number of opposition by their shareholders. According to Fernandez Guadano (2009) even if
they do manage to adopt similar practices as labor managed firms, they will never be able to
achieve the same rate of employee ownership and profit sharing as their counterparts,

Rocky Planets Research Paper
Abstract
Exoplanets are interesting to us for a number of reasons. By locating and observing them, we are
able to gather a variety of useful data that tells us details about the planet, and then compare and
contrast them to other exoplanets, as well as our own planet Earth. These comparisons are our
attempt at better understanding the formation history of rocky planets such as the one we live on
today, and furthermore understand the future of rocky planets based on their internal composition
and proximity to their host stars.
Introduction
We are often presented with useful information in the search for new information, and here it
comes in the form of two research papers. They are: HD 219134b: A transiting rocky planetin a
multi planet system at 6.5 pc from the Sun by F. Motalebi et al. and An Earthsize planet with an
Earth like density by F. Pepe et al. Both papers provide research findings on two close proximity
exoplanets around their respective host stars, with the main focus of ... Show more content on

This then corresponds to both planets having a very high temperature which means that the
atmospheres on both of these planets will either be very thin or just non existent entirely, having
been burned off by the host star. There is absolutely no chance of life on either of these planets.
Conclusion
From the data presented in both papers, it is clear that both are incredibly helpful in the effort to
find similar planets to Earth in terms of their internal composition, in order to better understand the
formation history of rocky planets. As suggested in (2), such data is useful in determining whether
or not all rocky planets are similar to one another in that they all have Earth like densities, or if
they come in a variety of compositions, such as their larger planetary counterparts (gas

Analysis Of In Feed By Walker Percy
Walker Percy, an author and philosopher, said that, You live in a deranged age, more deranged that
usual, because in spite of great scientific and technological advances, man has not the faintest idea
of who he is or what he is doing. In Feed, a satirical novel by M.T. Anderson, the characters often
seem as if they don t have an understanding of what is happening in the world around them. Feed is
mainly about Titus, the narrator who displays more complexity than his friends, and Violet, his
individualistic girlfriend who is constantly challenging concepts in their world. In addition to Titus
and Violet, M.T. Anderson includes many significant secondary figures, one of which is named
Quendy. Quendy is more mainstream, meaning that she follows the currenttrends and is very
dependent on the feed, and is more of an average teenager in their society. Quendy, a static
character, is used to satirize the idea of trends throughout the noveland to show that because of this,
people don t seem to have their own opinions.
M.T. Anderson uses Quendy to illuminate how trends work in their society. Throughout the book,
Quendy is seen trying to keep up with the current styles, which constantly involves checking to
make sure they have not changed. When Quendy and her friends are at Ricochet Lounge, a place
where you can fly around in low gravity, Quendy and Loga went off to the bathroom because
hairstyles had changed (20). Instead of having fun with her friends, Quendy is so

Mr. Still was unusual in that he kept careful, written records of those he assisted, including short
biographies on some, which he published in 1872. Mr. Still often employed railroad metaphors in
his writing. The following example illustrates the way messages were encoded so that only those
active in the railroad would fully understand their meaning, even if intercepted by outsiders:
I have sent via a two o clock four large and two small hams, which indicated that four adults and
two children were being sent by train from Harrisburg to Philadelphia. (Wikipedia, Underground
Railroad)
The use of the word via was to indicate that they were not sent on a regular locomotive, but via
Reading, PA. In this case the authorities went to the train station in Philadelphia with the hopes of
intercepting the fugitives, allowing Still s agent to meet them in Reading and escort them to safety.
Some preachers, friends of the cause, were said to have encoded their sermons to inform select
parishioners of the arrival and departure of fugitives over the course of the coming week. Some
wore a specific colored handkerchief in their pocket to indicate a meeting to be held or impending
arrival of fugitives. As a matter of necessity, stationmasters were accustomed to knocks on their
doors or windows at odd hours of the night. The response to the question of Who s there? was

the situation and how determined he is to follow through on the task he has set for himself. In the
letter, Sullivan Ballou writes, Lest I should not be able to write again...and it may be of some

situation, and that it could be a life threatening situation. However, Sullivan Ballou still does
what it takes to complete his job and is determined to follow through. In paragraph 3 Sullivan
Ballou writes, And I am willing perfectly willing to lay down all my joys in this life, to help

do whatever it takes to help maintain the government even though it can cost him his life and all
of the joys of his life. After the first two paragraphs of Sullivan Ballou s letter, he transitions to the
third paragraph where he changes the subject to his feelings for his wife Sarah. Sullivan Ballou

Also in my elementary life, I have so much friends and we shared laughers everyday when we
met at school, my classmates back at that that time are fond of making jokes with each other and
laughs together, I miss my elementary days because it is very enjoyable and full off activities
and also less stress in our studies because the teacher will consider your grades even if you are
not so smart and not so active at school at least you go to class and participate every time the
teacher have an activity. I can also prove that when you have so much fun, you can really tell
that the time is very fast. Making friends is just easy as making a cake, when you have all the
ingredients and have all the materials to bake a cake, it is just very easy, just like making
friends, if you are friendly and very fond of making jokes, people attracts at you and interacts
with you until you became friends with each other, I think my elementary days is the most
enjoying part of my limited life. In my high school life, it is not quite the same as my elementary

Vacation Bible School
I grew up in the St. Louis suburb of Eureka, where I still live today. If you ever look at me and
wonder where that scar on my forehead came from, well it happened when I was roughly 12
months old when I fell out of a moving car. My parents raised me as a Methodist at the Eureka
United Methodist Church. During my years attending Geggie Elementary School, every Sunday
my parents would force me to get out of bed and go to Church with them. During church, all the
children would go to Sunday school while the parents were listening to the sermon. In Sunday
school, we had a teacher, sometimes my mom, who would give out fun church related activities.
However, I did not enjoy doing that mostly because it involved getting out of bed early and since I
did not like the subject matter either, but at that age, children do not fully grasp the importance of
attending church and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

During this time, I was also baptized because I wasn t at birth. After middle school, I attended
Eureka High School. In my early high school years my family, including myself, became
disconnected from the church because we got busier with academics and sports, which left less

The first thing that caught my attention was the different flags that represented all of the schools

Silver Lininging Short Story
Silver Lining I remember those days like they were just last week. Who would ve known how
important having a job for your family was? Who would ve known how much impact could be
made when someone lost their job? I certainly didn t. You never realize how important
something is until you lose it. My family depended on that job. Once it was gone, it felt as if our
life was being thrown away. Where are we going to go now? No one knew, but we had to think of a
plan quickly, before we get thrown out. I got laid off from my job. my dad grimaced. I didn t
know what that meant, but it couldn t be good if my mom had a gloomy look on her face. I
became worried for us. Was everything okay? Were we going to be okay? I wish I knew what
being laid off meant, but I was three, I couldn t understand.
Days went by, and my mom explained to me what was happening.
Your dad isn t working anymore. We re going to have to leavethis house. We can t pay for it any
longer. she said.
My mom ran a foster care service, so she wasn t going to be able to pay for the house herself.
What did that mean for us? Where are we staying? Where was our puppy coming with us?
Everything became so depressing. The happiness in the family was gone. My parents didn t want to
be bothered with me. I didn t understand back then, but I surely understand now. There wasn t time
to play. We had to find a place where we can stay, and that s when Fullerton came up. We drove to

Comparing The Pursuit Of Happiness And Very Happy People
Throughout all of the differences in this world, one thing we have in common is the desire to
obtain happiness. Many articles have been written about the pursuit of happiness and how one can
attain it. With an assortment of articles over the topic, it is only natural for many different views
and ideas to be expressed by the numerous authors. Despite the many differences of opinions and
beliefs of many authors, they all agree that happinesscomes from helping others, living to a person
s own values, and knowing what the true definition of happiness is. Carlin Flora s article The
Pursuit of Happiness and Ed Diener and Martin Seligman s Very Happy People agree that even the

However, some of those great emotions will fade away, and some will help happiness be
consistent. In The Pursuit of Happiness and Very Happy People, there are similar points
supporting the theory that happiness comes from helping others. Once again, there are reliable
resources to back these claims, including another article, Just For the Joy of it. This article was
written by Vicki Zakrzewski to address the topic of altruism. Altruism is a natural part of all of us,
states Zakrzewski as she talks about the practice of selfless concern for others (Zakrezewski 22).
Flora shows her full support of Zakrzewski s statement when she encourages the reader to
perform acts of kindness for others on a regular basis to lift your mood in the moment and over
time (Flora 69). Diener and Seligman s results showed that the very happy people had good
social relationships. Good social relationships are formed on selflessness and sacrifice, further
proving that altruism is a large factor in happiness. While making others feel good can increase
happiness, it can also stem from making one s self feel good, both physically and

Sociological Imagination And How Events Affect A...
Sociological Imagination
The sociological imagination is an empathetic approach to understanding an individual by
examining their biography (this includes all life experiences and upbringing) as well as the
historical events that took place during their lifetime. (Basirico) It was developed by C. Right
Mills. Sociological imagination explores how events in history affect a generation s way of
thinking. It also takes into perspective the personal biography of an individual that exploits the
interworking of an individual mind and social status due to nature and nurture, culture, socio
economic standing, geography and other influences. It gives outsiders a better picture of why an

There has also been a shift in marketing for these harmful products, most of which is funded by the

even the American cancer society, this is a complete conflict of interest. (What the Health) These
companies are advertising their products, for example Danon on the American Cancer Website,
when we know that Dairy has strong links to breast cancer! (What the Health) As a direct result
our population has become sick, and unhealthy and disease prone. There has been an exponential

it is a huge problem. We might be the first generation to not outlive our parents. (What the Health)
The historical play in view of food and consumerism in my generation has played a big part in my

An example of how personal biography has shaped stems from my positive and supporting family,

A Literary Analysis Of The Jaunt By Stephen King
The JauntThe jaunt by Stephen King is a science fiction short story. It was first published in The
Twilight Zone Magazine in 1981 . The story takes place early in the 24th century, when the
technology for teleportation, also called Jaunting is allowing for transportation across enormous
distances, even to other planets in the solar system, and that is what the Jaunt is about. The story
contains two parallel running storylines. One that is written in the present and one that is written in
the past. The first storyline is the father Mark Oates, who is telling his family a story about the
Jaunt, and how it was invented. This storyline is written in the present. The other storyline is

In this text there is no Antagonist, because there is not any bad guy. The minor characters are
Mark s family. They are less important characters, but they still play an important part in the
meaning of the story. The text consists of a dialogue between Mark Oates and his two kids
Ricky and Patricia. Mark is telling them how the Jaunt is working. He is trying to explain, how
the scientist Victor Carune discovered, that you must be a sleep, when you are being transported,
after he had tested it on mice. If you are a wake, the jaunting will then feel longer than the 0,067
seconds, it normally takes, when you are jaunting , but Mark forgot to tell, what s really going to
happen to you. This dialogue is important to understand to get the point of the story, because in
most of the text Mark is speaking to his family. Human VS Technology is the theme in the text.
Mark s son Ricky was awake, when the family was going through the Jaunt, which resulted in the
fact that he got crazy and acted strange, like the mice Victor Carune used to test the Jaunt with.
Ricky wanted to see the travel to Mars, so he challenged the technology, though he knew, it was
dangerous and lost . Also because the whole story is about people and technology, and if those two
things are mixed, then incredible thinks can happen like the

Cruelty, By Stanley Milgram
Mohammad Asif Mohammad Prof: S.Bridges Essay 5 April 19, 2016 Cruelty The amount of
cruelty one possess varies individually depending on the situations an individual has experienced
throughout their life. This is why Milgram received such shocking results in his obedience
experiment and why only a few reacted in Darley and Latane s studies. Although cruelty is within
from birth, the test subjects in Milgram s, Darley and Latane s experiment had no intentions of
being cruel because they believed they were simply following orders and still fighting a personal
conflict which is to respond or not to a situation, while still conforming to the norms of social
etiquette. Cruelty is something that is innate. It is not something we learn but rather something that
is nurtured into existence. Individually, cruelty levels differ from one to another as each being
may have experienced different situations causing them to react differently. In the experiment
conducted by Stanley Milgram, a psychologist who wanted to test the level of cruelty a normal
citizen would go to when instructed by a person of authority. He brought in many different people
as the test subjects and as we see from the results how each persons obedience to inflict pain on
someone else differed amongst the subjects, we understand this is the results of their cruelty that is

The Meaning of Vertical and Horizontal Integration
Horizontal integration is where an organisation owns two or more companies, on the same level of
the buying chain. An example of this is the First Choice Group; they own First Choice Travel
Agency and
First Choice Hypermarket, both of which are on the same level of the buying chain. The advantage
of horizontal integration is that it can increase the company s market share. Another good example
of this type of integration is when EasyJet purchased the airline Go from British

If the travel agent doesn t wish to accept the offer, they may lose a lot of business, as they are not
selling as many products, to cater for the customers needs. Independent travel agents are being
seriously affected by integration, big companies such as First Choice, are controlling the amount of
commission travel agents receive. They are also losing commission as tour operators and airlines
are selling their products and services direct on the Internet. Older customers still prefer to use high
street travel agents as they may not know how to use the Internet or would like the reassurance of
booking in person. Travel agents are having to change to meet the needs of the customer, and are
turning to the niche market to make commission.
Airlines have also been affected by integration, British Airways wanted to merge with American
Airlines, but IATA declined their proposal, as they would be able to dominate the pricing of
transatlantic flights from the UK.
Horizontal and vertical integration has reduced competition within the industry, as more
organisations are buying each other out to expand due to the demand that is being received from
the public for their products and services. Companies that are integrating are able to set the price,
and smaller companies such as Collette Worldwide Holidays, will be unable to compete. The risk

The Silver Swan
In the poem by Orlando Gibons, The Silver Swan, the tempo is very slow and some words are
dragged out and made longer. Lyrically, the poem is rather sad and gloomy. Speaking about a
swan that ends up dying, a gentle and elegant creature that is easily compared to humans. The
analogy between humans and swans can be seen as considerably strong. Those who perceive
themselves to be upper class. Before the Swan dies, it sings: Farewell, all joys; Oh death, come
close mine eyes; more geese than swans now live, more fools than wise. It seems like the swan
is saddened by how things have happened. The geese and fools that are mentioned are the reason
why her perfect life must come to an end. The harmonies on the word death in the fifth line
becomes minor up until the word come and resolves on the words close mine eyes . This creates
an emphasis on the word death and stands out in the line. The use of the minor chord is almost like
the swan has accepted its fate and understands that this is the end for it.... Show more content on

The Pregnancy Outreach And Birth Mothers
For my cultural plunge, I decided to sit in at a birth mothers care group for women who decided to
give their child or children up for adoption. This care group is one of many care groups held by
Crisis Pregnancy Outreach. Crisis Pregnancy Outreach, or CPO is a nonprofit organization assisting
women in crisis, such as those experiencing unplanned pregnancies. Their main mission is to help
woman find alternate solutions to unplanned pregnancies that do not result in abortion.
Each week women gather at Christian Chapel, a church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to meet with mentors
to discuss what they endured that week. There are several different care groups. The most
attended groups are the parenting and birth mothers groups. I decided to sit in at a birth mothers

mothers obtain closed adoptions, where they have no communication with their birth children.

Etv2
Effective establishment of the hematopoietic and vascular systems is prerequisite for successful
embryogenesis. The ETS transcription factor Etv2 has proven to be essential for hematopoietic and
vascular development. Etv2 expression marks the onset of the hematopoietic and vascular
development and its deficiency leads to an absolute block in hematopoietic and vascular
development. Etv2 is transiently expressed during development and is mainly expressed in testis in
adults. Consistent with its expression pattern, Etv2 is transiently required for the generation of the
optimal levels of the hemangiogenic cellpopulation. Deletion of this gene after the hemangiogenic
progenitor formation leads to normal hematopoietic and vascular development. Mechanistically,...

Subsequently, microarray analysis of the zebrafish cloche mutants, which are defective in blood and
endothelial cell formation, identified etsrp expression to be greatly reduced in cloche mutants
(Sumanas et al., 2005). Additionally, microarray analysis of the hemangiogenic progenitor, which
generates hematopoietic and endothelial cells, and mouse Nkx2 5 null hearts identified Etv2 to be
highly expressed in the hemangioblast population compared to its progeny, hematopoietic and
endothelial cells (Lugus et al., 2007), but greatly reduced in Nkx2 5 null hearts (Ferdous et al.,
2009), respectively. These studies suggested that ETV2 might play a role in hematopoietic and
cardiovascular cell lineage development. Indeed, recent studies have established the critical and non
redundant function of this factor in hematopoietic and vascular development.

Introduction: As defined by Oxford Dictionary, Chemistry is the scientific study of the structure of
substances, how they react when combined or in contact with one another and how they behave
under different conditions . In other words, Chemistry is the study of the materials and substances
of the world in which we live. The materials, which make up the earth, sea and air, are called raw
materials. These include many importance natural resources like ores, rocks, coal, and gas.
According to me, Chemistry is the study of the composition and properties of matter. Chemistry

They thought that metals in the earth sought to become more and more perfect and thus gradually
changed into gold. It seemed to them that they should be able to carry out the same process more
rapidly in their own workshops and so artificially to transmute common metals into gold. Beginning
about 100 AD this idea dominated the minds of the philosophers as well as the metalworkers, and a
large number of treatises were written on the art of transmutation, which became known as alchemy.
At almost the same time, and probably independently, a similar alchemy arose in China. Here, also,
the aim was to make gold, although not because of the monetary value of the metal. The Chinese
believed that gold was a medicine that could confer long life or even immortality on anyone who
consumed it. As did the Egyptians, the Chinese gained practical chemical knowledge from incorrect
theories.
In the 7th and 8th centuries Arab conquerors spread Islamic culture over much of Asia Minor,
North Africa, and Spain. The caliphs at BaghdГўd became active patrons of science and learning.
The Syriac translation of Greek texts were again translated, this time into Arabic, and along with
the rest of Greek learning the ideas and practice of alchemy once again flourished.
A great intellectual reawakening began in western Europe in the 11th century. This was stimulated
in part by the cultural

Analysis Of A Prayer For My Daughter
What if those things the greatest of mankind Consider most to magnify, or to bless, But take our
greatness with bitterness? (Yeats 110). As David A. Ross writes in his book, Critical Companion
to William Butler Yeats: A Literary Reference to His Life and Work, ancestral houses were
perpetual symbols of tradition, ceremony, and aristocratic strength of character (Ross 45) for Yeats.
The anxieties about his ancestral line and preservation of high culture that plagued Yeats in his later
years are best illustrated in the poem, A Prayer for My Daughter. Written in 1919, just days after
the birth of his daughter Anne and in the midst of the Anglo Irish War, the poem lays out the future
Yeats wishes for his daughter. It begins with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He writes that he does not want her to have beauty to make a stranger s eye distraught (Yeats 90).
His use of the word distraught underlines his belief that excessive beauty is a curse since it has
the capacity to trouble and agitate others. Especially if they cannot possess this beauty, like the
aforementioned stranger. Additionally, he worries that if his daughter is too beautiful, she will not
be concerned goodness and virtue because she will view her favorable appearance as a sufficient
end (Yeats 91). His allusions to the mythical characters Helen of Troy and Aphrodite are twofold.
He refences them to highlight how, although they both possess unparalleled beauty, they both had
had foolish and unappealing husbands and, as a result, unhappy lives riddled with conflict.
Additionally, the mention of Aphrodite as fatherless stresses the importance he places role as a
father to teach his daughter to be righteous. However, this stanza is also a veiled allusion to his
unrequited love, Maud Gonne who had tumultuous marriage with the Irish nationalist John
MacBride. He believes that Gonne, like the beautiful women of Greek antiquity, misused the power
their beauty granted them. Essentially, he wants his daughter to be the opposite of Maud Gonne,
not only to save her from the harshness of the world but also to save people from the spell that

Dystopian Anime
Japanese Anime is different from traditional cartoon. Cartoon is more suitable for children to
watch whereas anime is more for teenage or adult viewing. The anime genre can be very wide
from comedy, to cyberpunk, to super robot. Many of the science fiction anime share the same idea
of dystopia.
Dystopia is describing an imaginary universe which is opposite with the Utopia society, it shows the
illusion of a perfect condition society. In fact the society is controlled by the government in
different way including propaganda, information thought and freedom. In the Dystopia world,
citizen are usually under surveillance and lived in a dehumanized condition inside the dystopian
society. Most of the dystopian Japanese anime are based heavily on a science fiction setting. For
example, Akira, Metropolis, Eden of the East, Code Geass, Psycho Pass.

The stock market prices increased rapidly and erupted in 1990. This caused the biggest loss of
wealth in Japan. This estate bubble also leaded to severe financial crisis and the period of
economic stagnation which called Lost Decades . We can see there are certain connection between
the crisis and the background of Neo Tokyo. The Neo Tokyo seems to be very flourishing and
modern which is similar with the blooming economy from 1986 to 1990 in Japan. However, the
Neo Tokyo government is secretly conducting human experiment, the state is full of protesters
against solider and the education system is corrupted. The city is remaining unstable. This
background gives us a hint of the horrific human evolution in the future. Simultaneously, Japan is
also transforming from Classical or Traditional cultural to a more modernised cultural of economic
and business condition. Some of the scenes appeared to be bloody, violent and terrifying (Tetsuo is

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is the federal agency charged with the
enforcement of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964,1 the Americans with Disabilities Act,2
and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.3 Five commissioners appointed by the President
and confirmed by the Senate govern the EEOC. Each commissioner serves a five year term, and
no more than three commissioners can be from the same political party.4 The President also
appoints a General Counsel of the Commission with the advice and consent of the Senate. The
General Counsel serves a term of four years and is charged with conducting litigation brought by
the EEOC.5 The EEOC also is charged with promulgating regulations to carry out the provisions of
Title VII.6 The EEOC regulations are published in Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
Additionally, the EEOC issues guidelines to assist in interpreting Title VII. The U.S. Supreme
Court has noted that EEOC Guidelines are not administrative regulations promulgated pursuant to
formal procedures established by Congress. But ..., they do constitute the [t]he administrative
interpretation of the Act by the enforcing agency, and consequently they are entitled to great
deference by the courts.7 3:8. Equal Employment Opportunity Act of 1972 The Equal Employment

Fun with Dick and Jane Essay
Fun with Dick and Jane (2005)
Starring: Jim Carrey, Tea Leoni, and Alec Baldwin
In need of some light hearted entertainment and a good laugh, I chose the movie Fun with Dick
and Jane for this assignment. Fun with Dick and Jane asks the common question, What is the
difference between a corporate crook and a bank robber? The movie opens with Dick leaving
his home in the picture perfect neighborhood in the year 2000. Dick is married to Jane and they
have a son who is more or less being raised by the housekeeper, Blanca. The family is living in a
culture of high powered, high paying jobs, high tech appliances and high stress living. Dick and
Jane have it all and they can t get enough of it.
The first ethical issue that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This movie provides sarcastic contradictions about morality and the ethics of crime. For one short
lived moment, Dick contemplates prostituting Jane for income but of course because this is a light
hearted comedy Jane becomes furious with this suggestion. Not long after her outrage she turns to
burglary willingly. Burglary, just like prostitution, is illegal, immoral, and demoralizing. Unlike
prostitution, which is a misdemeanor, burglary is a felony. These two criminals are portrayed as
good people just trying to feed their son and keep their house, yet the same good guys in the
audience who would frown on prostitution, enthusiastically support burglary as a practical comedic
maneuver. Yet, if Dick and Jane are on the path of immorality, as conveyed by their society s
parameters, they might as well have went with prostitution as a way to make money. With Jane
being such an amazing looking woman, she could have easily earned thousands of dollars a day
escorting swanky businessmen, thus attaining the goal of quick cash less unlawfully.
The movie snidely communicates to us that dressing up as Sonny and Cher to commit armed
robbery, or taking your neighbor s car and driving it through a jewelry store window is less
shameful than selling your body. The definition of robbery is the act of robbing from a person or
presence of another by violence or threat which is considered a felony; prostituting or escorting

Slavery in Today s Society
Human trafficking is something that has gone on for a very long time, beginning as early as the
1400s with slaves being used and traded. As stated by Jones, Hillard, and Diaz (2007), human
trafficking is both a global problem and a domestic problem (p.108 109), meaning human trafficking
affects and takes place all over the world. Overpopulation, poverty, and so forth, are examples of
domestic problems; they also increasing the chances of human trafficking taking place. Immigrants
are usually the ones exploited for human trafficking with promises of great pay, jobs, living, and
comfort. Trafficking, unlike smuggling, is correlated with deception to ultimately achieve
exploitation. Since they don t have rights as citizens, and are technically illegally here, immigrants
comply with the orders they are given (Jonas et al., 2007). The United States is where most human
traffickers take their victims and is estimated to receive anywhere between 15,000 to 50,000
immigrants yearly, just in the U.S. It s hard to have an accurate estimate because of how
underreported this act goes by. Victims tend to be subject to acts of prostitution, working in factories
or service industries. They also become very submissive to their ... Show more content on

It s every human being s responsibility to help prevent victims from suffering from physical and
psychological aguish, one from which they ll never fully overcome having survived human
trafficking. Jones et al. (2007) stated, political unrest, or (having) weak or corrupt infrastructures
combined with widespread poverty, are breeding grounds for international criminal networks (p.
113). Reducing the amount of corrupt officials and increasing the amount of supervision that goes
on in both border crossing and local officials, a decrease in trafficking would follow since they re

Why Sexist Language Matters Kleinman Summary One/10 In her essay Why sexist language matters (Qualitative Sociology, 2002), Kleinman argues that sexist language is a social problem because masculine generic language has many stereotypically masculine terms and expressions that affecting ways that people are speaking that has consequences and can be eliminated. One of the examples, is when masculine term is used in language by many people to refer to women s occupation titles, like, chairman and postman. When women are called chairman it makes women less in society than men. The demonstration that use of feminine generic language could be used to refer to both women and men, such as, chairwoman, would hurt men s feelings because it makes men less in society than women. First, there are those that feel strongly that Ford should follow Dell s model of virtual integration (reaping the benefits of vertical integration without vertically integrating) using the model to communicate effectively with its suppliers, achieve and focus on inventory velocity, and allow its component suppliers to specialize. My decision is to follow Dell s model where it makes sense for Ford, not blindly in all possible areas. Advantages of following Dell s model are as follows: * Implementation of better technology will not only setup Ford for the future, but also its supplier base. Long lasting partnerships can be built. * Efficient and effective communication and coordination will be created. * Improved control over suppliers, ability to monitor performance. * Lower inventories through better forecasting. * Inventory velocity concept to be introduced and followed by Ford. Essentially, all the disadvantages associated with the SMP system would be fixed by switching to the AV system. Even though the system would seem fixed, in regards to the electorates, here are cons that arise with the alterative voting system. The first disadvantage that arises from the AV system is that it is not a proportional represented system, thus it still fails at fully representing the people s political thoughts. Secondly, within the Electoral Reform Society s article they state that Lower preferences can potentially throw up a lowest common denominator winner without much positive support of their own. There are controversies with both systems, yet the AV system has a higher chance for electorates choices and votes to matter in the long run, which seems to be the biggest issue for why voters do not vote.... Can Air Canada compete against westjet s employee productivity and its relationship with its employees? Ever since its establishment in 1996, WestJet has aimed to operate as a low cost carrier while employing non unionized members in a unique organizational culture. A labor force in its most basic form, through profit maximizing practices, must be minimized, due to the cost associated with it, in order to drive up profit. And it is because of this outlook that WestJet has managed to outperform their competition, for example Air Canada. This theory is in sync with the findings of Jeffery Pfeffer in his 1995 paper Producing sustainable competitive advantage through the effective management of people. As described above, the organizational culture, the foundation of WestJet s success, is heavily weighted on its people. Where as the competition, sees the workforce as a cost and aims to minimize it, WestJet looks at their work force as an asset and an investment. Conventional airlines run their business as any other company. They look out for the shareholder s best interest and do not pay the slightest attention to their workforce. By locating and observing them, we are able to gather a variety of useful data that tells us details about the planet, and then compare and contrast them to other exoplanets, as well as our own planet Earth. These comparisons are our attempt at better understanding the formation history of rocky planets such as the one we live on today, and furthermore understand the future of rocky planets based on their internal composition and proximity to their host stars. Analysis Of In Feed By Walker Percy Walker Percy, an author and philosopher, said that, You live in a deranged age, more deranged that usual, because in spite of great scientific and technological advances, man has not the faintest idea of who he is or what he is doing. In Feed, a satirical novel by M.T. Anderson, the characters often seem as if they don t have an understanding of what is happening in the world around them. Feed is mainly about Titus, the narrator who displays more complexity than his friends, and Violet, his individualistic girlfriend who is constantly challenging concepts in their world. In addition to Titus and Violet, M.T. Anderson includes many significant secondary figures, one of which is named Quendy. Quendy is more mainstream, meaning that she follows the currenttrends and is very dependent on the feed, and is more of an average teenager in their society. Quendy, a static character, is used to satirize the idea of trends throughout the noveland to show that because of this, people don t seem to have their own opinions. M.T. Anderson uses Quendy to illuminate how trends work in their society. Throughout the book, Quendy is seen trying to keep up with the current styles, which constantly involves checking to make sure they have not changed. Altruism is a natural part of all of us, states Zakrzewski as she talks about the practice of selfless concern for others (Zakrezewski 22). Flora shows her full support of Zakrzewski s statement when she encourages the reader to perform acts of kindness for others on a regular basis to lift your mood in the moment and over time (Flora 69). Diener and Seligman s results showed that the very happy people had good social relationships. Good social relationships are formed on selflessness and sacrifice, further proving that altruism is a large factor in happiness. While making others feel good can increase happiness, it can also stem from making one s self feel good, both physically and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is why Milgram received such shocking results in his obedience experiment and why only a few reacted in Darley and Latane s studies. Although cruelty is within from birth, the test subjects in Milgram s, Darley and Latane s experiment had no intentions of being cruel because they believed they were simply following orders and still fighting a personal conflict which is to respond or not to a situation, while still conforming to the norms of social etiquette. Cruelty is something that is innate. It is not something we learn but rather something that is nurtured into existence. Individually, cruelty levels differ from one to another as each being may have experienced different situations causing them to react differently. Etv2 is transiently expressed during development and is mainly expressed in testis in adults. Additionally, he worries that if his daughter is too beautiful, she will not be concerned goodness and virtue because she will view her favorable appearance as a sufficient end (Yeats 91). His allusions to the mythical characters Helen of Troy and Aphrodite are twofold. He refences them to highlight how, although they both possess unparalleled beauty, they both had had foolish and unappealing husbands and, as a result, unhappy lives riddled with conflict.
