Attend Service At Two Different Jewish Churches Essay
I chose to attend service at two different Jewish churches. The first one was Congregation Gesher L
Torah in Alpharetta, Georgia and the second was Congregation Beth Hallel in Roswell, Georgia.
Though both were of the Judaism religion, there were some differences. I attended a Friday night
service at Congregation Gesher L Torah. My apprehensions about being black and going to a Jewish
church made me invite a friend to go with me. I was glad I did, as the stares and long looks we got
during the service validated my concerns.
The church was rather small, but quite modern. There was a small playground in the back for children
to play. All of the windows were made of beautiful stained glass. As we approached the church, we
could see the Star of David positioned high in a large stained glass window. We spoke to a lady who
was exiting the church as we were coming in, but she said nothing. Once inside, a man who was
ushering came over to us and said, Shabbat Shalom . I had been greeted with Shalom many time
before at my old church, but never Shabbat Shalom . I didn t know what was appropriate to say, but
somehow Shalom came spilling out of my mouth, and the usher nodded. He gave us two books,
Siddur Sim Shalom (a prayer book) and Gesher L Tefillah (another prayer book). My friend and I
found it hard to follow the prayers and songs from each book because most of the text was in Hebrew
and the Siddur Sim Shalom opened and was to be read from the back of the book with the pages

The Rump Organization Essay
MEMORANDUM To: Dr. John J. Morris, Department of Accounting From: Group #1 (Matt Meenen,
Bailey Ochs, Allison Olive, Marit Pavek) Date: 04/03/2014 Subject: Case 08 6, The Rump
Organization Statement of Relevant Facts: The Rump Organization, a SEC registrant, is planning a
corporate restructuring plan. On December 27, 2005 Ronald Rump, the CEO of the organization,
along with the Board of Directors approved a plan to involuntarily terminate 100 of the organization s
employees. There is an option for each of the employees to sign a litigation waiver, which forfeits any
right they have for legal action against Rump. In exchange for their voluntary signing of the waiver,
Rump will offer each employee a lump sum cash payment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alternatively, if the employee s termination is considered voluntary a liability will be recorded when
the employee leaves the company (ASC 712 10 25 1). In order to answer this question we need to
establish the communication date in the case. After establishing the communication date we need to
determine if all criteria presented in ASC 420 10 25 4 are satisfied. An additional issue is if the past
one time severance benefit offered to employees being terminated could be considered an
enhancement to an ongoing benefit arrangement. If it is considered an enhancement, the liability
would be recognized when it is probable that a future settlement will be reached (ASC 420 10 55 18).
Conclusions and Authoritative Reasoning: Below is a summary of our conclusions and authoritative
reasoning for each of the provisions: 1. We conclude that Rump should recognize the liability for the
expected employee termination benefits on the communication date, upon meeting all four criteria
presented in ASC 420 10 25 4 and communicated to the employees, which is December 31, 2005. We
believe that the termination of the employees is involuntary. We also concluded that the benefit
arrangement is not to be treated as an enhancement to an ongoing benefit arrangement. a. Following is
a discussion of the four criteria presented in ASC 420 10 25 4: i. Management, having the authority to

What Is My Favorite Vacation Place Essay
Tawas
Sometimes getting away from your home for a vacation is much needed for the mind and soul. For
me, my favorite vacation place is the beautiful tourist city of Tawas, Michigan. My first exciting visit
to Tawas was when I was ten years old. Since then, it has been an annual family trip. My favorite
place in the city of Tawas is my Aunt Debbie and Uncle Danny s cabin that overlooks Lake Huron.
They kindly allow us to stay there each summer. The creaking floors and squeaky swing on the
lakefront gives it special qualities to show the years of love families have experienced there. I have
many treasured memories at this special location. It bring smells, feelings, thoughts, and emotions that
are just what I need to refresh my mind and soul. Over the years, Tawas has become my favorite
summer location because of the beautiful sites of the lake, the soothing sounds of the water, the old
cabin, and the fun memories.
My favorite memory at Tawas is the long jet ski ride to a small island just off the tip of the bay. It has
a very old small white lighthouse and a sandy beach. Other treasured memories in Tawas include
nightly fires where my family sits around in lawn chairs and makes S mores with ... Show more

quickly grown attached to the traditional old brown log cabin in the past eight years. I like the
traditional build of old logs, a stone fireplace, and two big windows overlooking the lake. As I enter
the cabin I can hear the creaking of the old original hardwood floor. It catches my eye with the
scratches and dents that give it character. My nose is tickled by the sweet smell of an old musty cabin
and campfire. I can feel the unique stress that the wooden walls have experienced over the years. My
mom says, If these walls could speak image what the stories they could

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Resonance
Advantages:
Harmonic reduction is possible.
Undesirable harmonics are absent.
Reactive power compensation is possible.
Disadvantages:
Resonance with line impedance occurs.
Tuning frequency is less accurate and requires a lot of calculations.
It cannot be used when harmonic components vary randomly.
Heavy and bulky.

APF is basically of two types. They are (i) Shunt APF (ii) Series APF
(i) Shunt APF
This type of configuration is widely used in active filtering applications. A shunt APF has a
controllable voltage or current source. Fig. 3.4 demonstrates principal configuration of a voltage
source inverter based APF which the most common type of shunt APF today. It is based on the
principle of injection of harmonic current equivalent to the distorted current waveform, thus
eliminating the original distorted current. This is connected in shunt with the distribution line through
an interfacing inductor. Fig. 3.4: Basic configuration of Shunt APF
(ii) Series APF
Basic principle of this type of configuration is isolation of harmonics in between nonlinear load and
source. The basic configuration is similar with shunt APF, except that interfacing inductor is replaced
by an interfacing transformer, where the injection of harmonic voltage occurs. It is otherwise known
as a harmonic isolator, which offers zero impedance to the fundamental and infinite impedance to the
harmonic frequency components. Fig. 3.5 demonstrates the basic configuration of a series APF. Series
APF is suitable for improving the quality of the distribution source

Genetically Modified Organisms Are A Hot Topic For Debate
GMOs or Genetically Modified Organisms are a hot topic for debate. Many have taken a stand against
the genetic modifying of organisms, but what many of these people fail to realize is that humans as a
species have been modifying organisms based on genetics for thousands of years. Our faithful
companions, who were once wolves, were selectively bred based on their genes that expressed
faithfulness to humans (Rangel 10). Similarly, the corn that the world consumes today was not the
same corn grown by our human ancestors. The plants that grew tall and strong were taken and
replanted for the next season. The only difference between GMOs today and the selective breeding of
primitive humans is the random factor. Selective breeding relies on the ... Show more content on

This study found there was no inherent increase in the amount of toxins and antinutrients found in
modified plants compared to non modified plants. Also, the amounts of toxins and antinutrients found
have no substantial effects for common human diets and can be consumed safely without health risk.
Not only has the safety of GMOs passed extensive board review by the academies of science,
engineering, and medicine, but there is also an overwhelming support for GMOs from the scientific
community as a whole. There are currently 123 nobel laureates who have signed an open letter of
support for GMO s (Roberts, R. J., and P. A. Sharp). The letter calls upon anti gmo organizations,
specifically Greenpeace, and governments around the world to embrace GMOs and the golden rice
project. The golden rice project is a non profit humanitarian project which aims to modify the rice
plant to contain vitamin A. Their goal is to save people in third world countries who lack the proper
micronutrients due to their dependendence on rice in their diet. Vitamin A deficiency is extremely
common among the poor whose diets consist of easy to grow plants, like rice, but Greenpeace and
other anti gmo organisations have campaigned hard against the golden rice project. It is a crime
against humanity to fight against the golden rice project when it has potential to help the 250 million

In the novel The Wave, by Todd Strasser, the protagonist Laurie Sanders is faced with the decision to
follow the crowd or to stick with her instincts. As several of her friends and classmates become caught
up in the new movement of The wave lead by her history teacher Ben Ross, Laurie grows a little
uneasy of it. It s only a matter of time before The wave spreads throughout the entire school and
Laurie begins to notice the frightening effects it has on the school s community. She along with a few
others try and put a stop to it before anyone else gets hurt and it s too late. Laurie is portrayed to be an

Development of the company s performance management needs clarity in the areas of monitoring
work progress, including the allocation of funds both monetary rewards and funding for gaming
development, and eliminating social hierarchy s.
Strategic planning and growth are areas of the company that need to be addressed to insure that the
direction of the business is clear for both employees as well as consumers. Issues arisen from within
the company are lack in training of new employees, constant updated training workshops for
established employees and to better the training received into hiring new employees. 2. DISCUSSION
2.1 Organisational Structure
Organisational structure is a developing concept within the constantly changing business environment
with new technology shaping how tasks can be done more effectively and efficiently. A
technologically advanced company such as Valve embraces the changing environment and has adapted
the no manager s concept within the creative industry. Zarzaru (2013) states, within an organisation,
the dimension which concerns the choice of how work is organized and who is allocated the work is
formed by sharing knowledge, referred to as the human dimension, with elements of the
organisational structure fully reliant on knowledge management projects and the physical human
thought process, this concept is not fully reached within Valve, but is easily achievable.

Communication is vital when you are control of a large area. The Mongols didn t have modern
technology to keep up on things going on in different parts of the Mongol Empire, so they had to
come up with alternative ways to keep in constant contact. If the United States Government didn t
have contact with their citizens and other government officials, there would be complete chaos.
Without communication, you would have no idea what has happened in different parts of the world. If
there was ever a threat to the U.S., there would be no other way to get vital information then to send

Traditional Parenting Styles Are Distinct And Share...
For quite some time now, the question on how to correctly raise children has been debated intensely.
The two most popular parenting styles are extremely opposite, so controversy is bound to rise. These
two styles are known as Western and Chinese , and each one has significant supports saying their
respective style is superior. The Chinese style is seen as a no nonsense approach and has even been
dubbed the tiger style due to its strict and harsh nature. On the other hand, the Western style offers a
free flowing environment where parents are more relaxed with the handling of their children. Both
parenting styles are distinct and share extremely opposing views. Amy Chua is a significant supporter
for the chinese parenting style as she has even wrote a book titled Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother
along with an article named Why Chinese Mothers are Superior . Chua has experience with the
chinese parenting style as she was raised by it and now she is raising her own children through it. One
opposer of Amy Chua is Hannah Rosin, an editor for the Atlantic and the standard for western
parenting style. Rosin writes an article named Mother Inferior , which is a response to Chua s work.
Although Amy Chua s parenting style may seem to provide better results for the parents, Hanna Rosin
parenting style is more beneficial for all parties involved for a couple of reasons. One being the fact
that children often struggle handling pressure at such a young age. The other is the belief

How Did The Watergate Scandal
Across the planet earth, there are some 196 sovereign countries that each have their own independent
ways of ruling the people of their land. Whether it be a monarch, a dictator, or a president, no one in
the world beckons such a large power as the President of the United States. This man or woman is in

Nixon wanted his attorney general to get Cox fired, but many people stepped down rather than get

Essay On How We Are Blinded By Sugar And Its Sweetness
How We Are Blinded by Sugar and Its Sweetness We all love a little sugar in our meals and in our
drinks. It makes everything we consume taste that much better. The absence of sugar is definitely
noticeable as everything would taste bland. While you re too busy stuffing your face with those
delicious desserts, did the thought ever cross your mind that what you are consuming is what may
eventually lead to your death? And before you choose to dismiss this claim, here are some things you
should take into consideration; the cost of eating out all the time, the cost of doctor visits and going on
medication, and finally your long term psychological health. Having a diet high in sugar intake will
only lead you to a multitude of health problems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She discovered that people who ate more sugar still had higher cardiovascular mortality. As if heart
disease wasn t bad enough, Doctors have recently compared the addiction to sugar being the same as
the addiction to cocaine. The research has shown that sugar could be as addictive as some street drugs
and have similar effects on the brain. Cassie Bjork, MD., founder of healthysimplelife.com discovered
through research that sugar can be even more addicting than cocaine. Dr. Bjork goes into explaining
that dopamine is a neurotransmitter that is a key part of the reward circuit associated with addictive
behavior. When a certain behavior causes an excess release of dopamine, you feel a pleasurable high
that you are inclined to re experience. While consuming sugar, one can simply refer to it as a
condiment and that it is necessary in our meals. What they re failing to realize is it has the same
psychological effects as using cocaine. It messes with your brain in the same way, but doesn t give you
the negative side effects of cocaine. Sugar activates the reward center in our brain the same way drugs
do and provoke similar cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Alan Greene, Md., a children s health and
wellness expert has mentioned that the addiction to sugar can be even harder to break due to how it
affects our stress hormones. This would make sense since sugar is widely more accepted in our society
than drugs and alcohol.

The Effects Of Lithium Batteries On Medical Devices
Introduction
With the rise in the aging population, there has been an increase in demand for implanted medical
devices, such as pacemakers. Approximately, 70% to 80% of all pacemakers are implanted in people
65 years old or over (Bradshaw, Stobie, knuiman, Briffa, 2014). Lithium batteries have dominated as
the main source of energy for implantable medical devices. The limitations of lithium batteries have
become apparent. The batteries have a limited energy capacity; therefore, this limits its use in smaller
devices, which in terms reduces its lifetime. Due to the short lifetime of these batteries, they must be
replaced every so often (Rasouli Phee, 2010). The need to replace and recharge batteries leads to
surgeries and discomfort for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1998, Paradiso implemented this into the creation of a prototype shoe. The heel of the shoe had a
spring magnetic generator. Each time the person walked approximately 1 watt was produced. The
disadvantages were that the person had to have the ability to walk and it caused discomfort. Additional
adjustments were made to the idea as the years progressed. In 2001, Paradiso placed the piezoelectric
elements on the heel and under the toes. Kornbluh placed them on the heel of both shoes (Hannan et
al., 2014). But, each one faced the issue of the patient needing the ability to walk.
Electrostatic Energy
Electrostatic generators use electrostatic induction to produce electricity. It converts mechanical
vibrations into electricity by moving the transducer in against the electrical field. The conversion
occurs with either fixed charge or fixed voltage. This method is adequate for micro implanted devices
that use low power (Hannan et al., 2014).
Magnetic Induction Generator
There are two types of magnetic induction generators. One based on relative motion where the
generator is fixed. Another, that uses body motion. In the second case, the generator is installed with
the inertia force of the weight. Hoska conducted an investigation comparing the two types (Hnnan et
al., 2014). He found that the second less vulnerable to constant movements and more vulnerable to
vibratory movements, which can be explained due to the fact that the second type uses inertia.

1839 42 during the opium wars in China. British drug dealers were exporting roughly a ton of opium
per day over from India. The people of China grew more and more aggrieved at the damage it was
doing to their people and societies, to prevent this the Chinese tried to close their borders. The British
were callous in suppressing this small revolt of the drug disagreeing nationalist china. So today is free
trade fair? I would say this could be answered in many different ways depending on many factors.
There are many advantages for many people and countries however for one person to gain advantage
it must come at a cost of someone having to deal with the disadvantage. An example of this

Auntie Cockles gave Elizabeth a grand welcome, and sat her down by the kitchen fire and told her all
the latest news of the orphanage. What interested Elizabeth most was the appearance of a new

began to lead the way. During the next weeks, Elizabeth was plagued by the memories of her aunt s

cellar was supposedly haunted, and dared her to go down and talk to the ghost, or whatever was down
there. Not being one to ever back out of a dare, Elizabeth took her candle and crept down to the cellar
that night. As she opened the door, a horrible smell met her nostrils, and she recoiled from the stench,
and, breathing through her mouth, quietly stepped from step to step. As she reached the bottom, the
flame from her candle illuminated the stinking cellar. At first, she could not make out anything, but as
her eyes became accustomed to the dark, she found four bodies, all wrapped up in cloth except the
feet. Those feet were enough to put almost anyone off, but as Elizabeth could not see them properly,
she ignored them, and with what was either immense

Making Pens Out Of Wood
How to Make a Wood Pen
When making pens out of wood there is quite a bit of equipment you will need to purchase to get
started. These are all things for the initial setup and are a one time purchase.
1. Wood Lathe (a midi lathe is best)
2. Drill Press (nothing too expensive)
3. Drill bits (different sizes. The pen kits will tell you what size you need)
4. Scroll saw or hand saw (The scroll saw easiest)
5. Pen Turning Mandrel
6. Turning Tools (a gouge, skew, and parting tool are good to start with)
7. Pen Press (for putting it all together)
8. Tape Measurer
9. Pencil or Sharpie
10. Pen Makers Center Drilling Vise (optional)
These are all the items you need to be successful. I know it is a bit overwhelming, but will be well
worth it to be prepared.
Next I want to get into the materials you will need to make the pens. These are items you will buy
periodically to replace your inventory.
1. Wood Pen Blanks (these are easiest because you have less measuring to do)
2. Glue (you don t want anything like Elmer s Glue)
3. Pen Kits (there are so many to choose from like slimline or cigar pens)
4. Sandpaper (I use what they call the sanding pack)
5. Wood Oil (I use Tung Oil)
6. A Sealant (I use a liquid polyurethane)
7. Q Tips (this depends on the type of glue you use)
Next we will get into the work area and safety. You want to make sure you have a well ventilated area
to work in with plenty of room to move around without trouble. I use my garage. You also want to

As with the improvement of cameras that produce high quality videos and images, storage needed to
store the videos is became a big issue especially for the film makers that have huge video files to

to remove the redundancy from bit stream of video files so they take less place to be stored.
Transmission of video files is also a big reason that describes the importance of video compression in

complex communications model to elicit the information needed and includes a series of specific

Why Do Baseball Players Take Steroids Unfair
The worlds worst problem in baseball taking steroids in baseball, which makes it an unfair game for

essay will be about why steroids makes the game unfair. This paper has been written to tell you why
steroids makes the game unfair, why they should be banned, and how it affects the game.
Steroids make the game unfair because it makes the people that take steroids way stronger than a
person who doesn t take steroids(Fairchild 1). A guy using steroids would be hitting further than a
person not using steroids. That is cheating. There are many baseball players that have took steroids and

The Tragedy Of Theseus, The King Of Herakles
The Athenian hero Theseus served as a model of Athenian civic duty and shaped his audience s
conception of right and wrong behavior. Theseus, king of Athens, was believed to be a great hero and
served as the Athenian counterpart of Herakles. Primarily, Theseus was a source of Athenian pride and
civic duty. Solely on his journey from Troezen to Athens, Theseus goes through six labors in which he
defeats six monster and human adversaries that had plagued Greece while giving them a taste of their
own medicine. He defeated Periphetes, who used his club to beat passersby to death, by using his own
club to bludgeon him to death. He defeated Sinis the robber and used his cruel murder method against
him, tying Sinis between two trees that were bent down to the ground, and then letting the trees go,
tearing him apart. This trend continued through the killing of the Crommyonian pig, Sciron the robber,
King Cercyon the wrestler, and procrustes the stretcher. Time and again, Theseus risked his life to rid
the world of evil and make greece a safer place. Theseus clearly had a very strong sense of justice, he
refused to stand by and allow monsters, human or otherwise, to roam the country unchecked. His
strong sense of justice compelled him to punish these evildoers in a manner replicating their own
crimes. In his labors, and his defeat of the Minotaur, Theseus also shows the distinction between the
uncivilized monsters, that had previously roamed Greece, and what Athens would become under

The Ministerial Declaration Agreement And The Principle Of...
The Doha Ministerial Declaration spelled out a number of key principles and procedures intended to
inform the entire negotiation. First, the negotiations are to be conducted in a transparent manner that
facilitates effective participation of all parties, with a view to ensuring benefits to all participants and
achieving an overall balance in the outcome of the negotiations. Second, the negotiations and other
aspects of the work programme are to take fully into account the principle of special and differential
treatment for developing and least developed countries. Third, the Committee on Trade and
Development and the Committee on Trade and Environment are to identify and debate developmental
and environmental aspects of the negotiations, in order to help achieve the objective of having
sustainable development appropriately reflected. Fourth, the negotiations comprise a single
undertaking, with the exception of work on the Dispute Settlement Understanding. Finally, while there
is a clear distinction in the Doha Ministerial Declaration between negotiations and the work
programme, issues covered by the latter are also to be accorded high priority, pursued under the
overall supervision of the General Council and reported on at the Fifth Session of the Ministerial
Conference in Cancún in September 2003. Members can invoke any of these underlying principles
and procedures at any time if they feel they are not being accorded adequate attention. One way of

Acute Appendix Pain
The most likely diagnosis for this severe abdominal pain located within her right lower quadrant and
amongst her right side would be an acute appendicitis due to inflammation of the appendix.
The appendix is located within the right lower quadrant (RLQ) of the abdomen, and finds itself within
the right iliac (inguinal) region. It is a subdivision of the large intestine and is a blind ended tube
attached to the posteromedial surface of the cecum (Marieb, Hoehn, Human Anatomy Physiology,

Importance Of The Colosseum
The functions religious or otherwise, of the colosseum were irrelevant to the ultimate design of the
architecture.
Once the colosseum had been built it seems to have become the model for many, if not most, of those
that followed (Hopkins and Beard 2005, 24). The Colosseum stands proudly upon the villainous
Emperor Nero s once grand Valley of the Golden House, projecting the munificence of Imperial
Roman Architecture of the Flavian period. Its ultimate design could be said to be formed through
purpose or function. However, this does not do justice to the importance of architecture within Roman
society (Thornton and Thornton in Lyes 1999, 2). The functions whether it be religious or otherwise,
of the Colosseum were irrelevant to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The diameter of the entire Colosseum was thus reduced and convention disregarded to take into
consideration this architectural feature. Looking in detail at the classical orders themselves which
made up the levels of the façade and the 80 grand entrances of the Colosseum it would appear to not
be revolutionary. However, if you engage with the architecture closer it reveals further Roman
architectural ingenuity and the importance of the structures appearance.
Traditionally Roman buildings saw the use of the classical Greek Doric order on ground levels
(without bases) with the more decorative orders of Ionic and Corinthian stacked above this (Lyes
1999, 6). However, in the Colosseum these orders were stacked and used in a way which had no
previous precedent in Roman architecture (Lyes 1999, 6). The design sees the orders dramatically
reduced, which has the columns that are engaged within the structure constructed with bases, and the
column shaft themselves missing the usual entasis of classic Greek orders, this all leads to a much
simplified capital. Between each stacked order there is a triple facia architrave, a relatively plain
designed freeze and cornice (Lyes 1999, 6). The use of the classical orders in this manner within the
design of the Colosseum, without precedent, was in fact not structural but a façade or veneer. This
allowed the

Michael Moore Discussion Questions
Michael Moore is a wonderful director but, I honestly don t think he deserve this award for Best
Documentary Feature Film Because during his documentary he chose two random interview that so
ever had no significance to each other. Moore takes seven different sentences from five different parts
of Heston s speech and splices them together to create one speech. Not to mention the infamous line
from my cold, dead hands. This line was actually taken from a speech a year later when Heston was
presented with a hand made musket, One of those scenes was Charles Heston holding a gun wearing a

Another Reason is he acted dumb when he went to buy a gun so that he can target the people who he

that I personally don t think it s a clever move because he wasn t once again proving how the shooting

Before the movie can even get under way, Michael Moore is already lying to the audience. Michael
Moore is trying to show how easy it is to get a gun. There is a bank in Northern Michigan that offers a
deal where, if you start a bank account, they hand you a gun. What Michael Moore doesn t show is the
fact that it takes several weeks and two background checks to get his gun. It takes at least two weeks
to get the gun he wants. There is also no gun inventory from the bank as Michael Moore

Biblical Archaeological Of Biblical Archaeology
Biblical archaeology is defined as a sect of archeological studies that refers to the study of lands found
in the Bible and their history (biblicalarchaeology.org). The firsthand goal of Biblical archaeology is
to prove the authority of scripture through providing concrete evidence that the Bible lines up with
accepted geography and history. The Jerusalem Siege Tower shows the accuracy of what was
described as historical events in the Bible. The Pool of Siloam is found in John 9, and proves that the
places that Jesus spoke of while performing miracles really existed, and still do. Finally, the Dead Sea
Scrolls validate the authenticity of the scripture that we read today. Through the analysis of the

(Shanks, 86 87) Two archaeologists, Ronny Reich and Eli Shuckron, were excavating in the area of
the Gidhon Valley, at the outset of the tunnel. While digging in the kings garden, Shuckron noticed
two steps in the ground, and after getting clearance from the Israeli Antiquities Authority, they began
to excavate that area, discovering the true location of the Siloam Pool. (Shanks, 88)
The Pool was then identified to be a trapezoid shape and around 225 long, with steps on the at least
three of the exteriors. Archaeologists were also able to identify that the pool went through two phases,
and that the stone steps were a part of the second phase. In the first phase, the steps were actually
plastered, not stone. They also found coins inside the plaster, which dated back to the assumed first
phase of the pool. The coins were all dated back to the era of the Jewish king, Alexander Jannaeus,
who would be succeeded by Herod the Great. Therefore, archaeologists can conclude that the pool
was developed the late Hasmonean period or early Herodian period. Excavators also found Second
Temple pottery, which had all been finished in the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, and
coins from the First Jewish revolt against Rome, which lasted from 66 to 70 AD. With this knowledge,
archaeologists could conclude that the pool was in use until the end of the revolt. The pool eventually

Jane Eyre
Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre emerges with a unique voice in the Victorian period for the work posits
itself as a sentimental novel; however, it deliberately becomes unable to fulfill the genre, and then, it
creates an altogether divergent novel that demonstrates its superiority by adding depth of structure in
narration and character portrayal. Joan D. Peters essay, Finding a Voice: Towards a Woman s
Discourse of Dialogue in the Narration of Jane Eyre positions Gerard Genette s theory of convergence,
which is that the movement of the fiction towards a confluence of protagonist and narrator, is limited

Helen communicates in an elegant restrained form to the protagonist that all of Jane s passion is

The Deep Oceanic Trenches Near Thermal Vents
Objective:
How to find evidence of life in deep oceanic trenches near thermal vents
Introduction:
Deep ocean trenches are environments that have historically been shrouded in mystery, their
inaccessibility rendering such limited explorations as net dragging and dredging for samples (Lee,
2012). While potential for chemosynthesis had been proposed as long ago as 1890, it was nearly a
century later before such systems were demonstrated to be active on the ocean floor (German, 2011).
Further investigation has shown that ecosystems are surviving and thriving along the ocean floor
within these trenches. Studies have shown that deep ocean trenches contain ecosystems that are
biologically and geologically active, producing a high diversity of organisms that must withstand a
variety of environmental changes (Anderson et al., 2014). Recent explorations have confirmed new
forms of life in deep ocean trenches. Life discovered in such an extreme environment is call for
investigation.
We will analyze 5000 grab samples from the deep oceanic trench to determine if the samples are dead,
alive, or have never had life. We are attempting to create a picture of what life is like on the bottom of
the ocean. To figure this out, we will categorize these samples, determining what has/had life and
never has. In all cases, wherever there are chemically reduced compounds present, microbial activity
is enhanced (German, 2011). Deep sea trenches are underwater vents to the core of the earth that

however is no excuse for what they do to the environment. This is a very important issue because
of how much environmental damage can be prevented as well as setting an example of pollution
reduction across the world. They must take this issue very seriously because air quality has

fossil fuels, but this is a slow change and they are also reducing iron production (Barbara

keep up with China s energy needs. These changes will be very helpful towards this crucial issue
and though it may take time will eventually have a significant impact on reduction of air
pollution in China.
Another crucial step to reducing air pollution is changing energy habits. This goes hand in
hand with reducing air pollution. If China is to permanently change their horrible air pollution
they must not only reduce air pollution, but also switch to more effective energy sources. There
are many types of clean energy sources such as: solar, wind, and hydroelectric. These energy
sources are infinite, unlike coal and oil, which will eventually run out. As well as being more
plentiful they also leave no pollution behind (NRDC). Though not all of China s needs can be
filled by green or renewable energy but any little bit helps. Since China is so large the more
clean energy we use, the less air pollution being put out. This not only effects China, but the
whole world because they re pollution is contributing to global warming as other global issues.
With continued improvements China plans to have 13% clean energy by 2017 (Barbara
Finamore). This is a huge step towards reducing air pollution

Some things are being done about this issue as we speak, but some of the ideas are falling through.
The KOCO news website tells us that a non profit organization called Shelter Oklahoma Schools is
giving the schools, which took a direct hit on May 20th, money to build shelters. The Moore School
District will receive the biggest amount at $500,000 and the Western Heights, Calumet, and
Drummond school districts will each receive $100,000. This is a great way to start, but we still aren t
getting help for the other schools. According to Sam Higgins, writer of the article Storm Shelter
Petition Fell through for Oklahoma Schools, a campaign called Take Shelter Oklahoma is trying to
collect enough signatures to be able to place a $500 million bond, paid by the current franchise tax on
the ballot, to fund shelters in schools. The petition is being run by Oklahoma Representative Joe
Dorman, but is stilling coming up short on signatures. If this petition doesn t receive 85,000 more
signatures by December 18 of this year it will fall through and we will have to start all over. The
current nature of this issue is that the problem is not solved completely. This issue is very important.
There are lives at stake here and if we cannot get shelters in schools then many more lives will be
taken. The tornado that happened in the month of May is a great way to

The Great Depression and Hebert Hoover
Following an era of economical prosperity, the Great Depression, otherwise known as the ugliest sister
of the 1900 s family, which lasted an entire decade from 1929 to 1939, began on a fateful day with the
New York Stock Exchange abruptly crashed and was unable to recover quickly. This occurrence, of
course, had an unforgivable effect on the economy, leading to one of the most memorable and
significant eras in American history. Not only affecting the economy domestically, internationally
trading was burdened by the limp leg that was the United States. Socially, people were struggling to
regain their balance after a main income source agriculture was swept away by the Dust Bowl, only
worsening the drawn out effects of the initial Wall Street crash. Politically, the US faced severe
turmoil with presidency of Herbert Hoover due to a lack of action to prevent economic decay and
promote domestic and foreign recovery. Needless to say, after one presidential term, Franklin D.
Roosevelt was elected into office and soon passed the New Deal, a highlight in his presidential career.
However, due to the previous president, there were several critics about the nature and efficacy of
such a policy. The Great Depression was a time of discussion and criticism of political policy and the
nature and efficacy of said policy in dominating the backfire of grand economical proportions within
the United States alone. The presidency of Herbert Hoover only lasted for one term from 1929 to 1933

African Rock Art
Africa is home to many interesting and historic artistic pieces. Some of the oldest forms of art
expressed by humans can be seen in paintings or engravings in rocks. These various rock arts are
found all around the continent. The Saharan desert provides many great sites which preserve and
archive these creations. Many rock art showcase numerous animals such as giraffes, elephants, and
hippos. These animals seem to have importance of African culture and their lives. African rock art can
sometimes be abstract in nature causing interpretation of said art to be challenging.
Africa can be seen as the birth place of mankind. Our ancestors originated there long ago in a world of
amazing art. It is rather hard to solve the age of creation of very early

Key aspects of the Canadian health care system
Canada is known for its universal health care system. Health care services across Canada are financed
by the government and follows the guidelines of the Canada Health Act (1984) Which states: to
protect, promote, and restore the physical and mental well being of residents of Canada and to
facilitate reasonable access to health services without financial or other barriers . The Canada health
act includes medically necessary hospital diagnostic and access to a physician. Further more

(CITE) Despite its success the Canadian health care system has some concerns associated with it and
It is important for policy makers, and the health management sector to address these issues and
provide solutions for them. Health management is a complex social goal, and a major initiative in
Canada, which is heavily relied on the public sector. One of the major issues the health care system is
currently facing the over crowded emergency departments and extremely long waiting times. . In this
paper I will discuss the issue of overcrowded hospitals as a results of the rising population of the
elderly. Many of our hospitals are over crowned, there are long waiting time, and the elderly are not
provided with sufficient care. Overcrowding will place an increasing amount of burden on the hospital
by delaying testing and diagnosis times, creating a shortage of nurses and doctors, and it may also
have a negative impact on the financial state of the hospital.
Why is it an Issue?
According to statistic Canada their will be a dramatic change in the senior population in Canada, this
mean that the entire baby boomer generation will become part of Canada s senior population which is
those aged above 65. Furthermore in 2010 statistics Canada reported that by the year 2036 the seniors
population will increase to about 23 25%. This change in the aging population of Canada has a huge
impact on the health care services. Many seniors require regular access to health care

Natalie Wood Research Paper
The Mysterious Death of Natalie Wood Natalie Wood was an American actress in many movies
including West Side Story, Brainstorm, and The Searchers. She was loved and adored by many, until
her untimely death off the coast of the island of Santa Catalina. Natalie Wood drowned on a trip to
Santa Catalina island, on her yacht. There are many theories on how Wood died: one being that it was
Christopher Walken, who was with them on the trip, or that it was an accident. However, her husband
killed her. Christopher Walken was Wood s close friend that went her and her husband on their yacht
to Santa Catalina island. According to the captain the night Wood was killed she and Robert Wagner,
her husband, were fighting although Walken was not involved in that fight. For a long period of time
Wagner did not comment on the events of that night, but Walken did and stated that Wagner was in a
drunken rage(Staff, Radar). Although Walken did eventually come forward and has now written a
book on his late wife s life. Wood and Walken had been friends for a long while when they went on
this trip, Walken was a guest with only Wood and her husband which is very unusual, proving that
Wood and Walken were close friends. Therefore, due to Wood and Walken s close friendship and
Walken s willingness to speak on the events of that night Walken did not kill ... Show more content on

Wood expressed her fear of deep water openly, those who knew Natalie knew of this fear. Natalie s
sister Lana Wood said in an interview Natalie hated the water, she had a great fear of it. She didn t go

the possibility of Wood accidentally slipping and falling overboard is almost impossible and spoke

  • 2. Attend Service At Two Different Jewish Churches Essay I chose to attend service at two different Jewish churches. The first one was Congregation Gesher L Torah in Alpharetta, Georgia and the second was Congregation Beth Hallel in Roswell, Georgia. Though both were of the Judaism religion, there were some differences. I attended a Friday night service at Congregation Gesher L Torah. My apprehensions about being black and going to a Jewish church made me invite a friend to go with me. I was glad I did, as the stares and long looks we got during the service validated my concerns. The church was rather small, but quite modern. There was a small playground in the back for children to play. All of the windows were made of beautiful stained glass. As we approached the church, we could see the Star of David positioned high in a large stained glass window. We spoke to a lady who was exiting the church as we were coming in, but she said nothing. Once inside, a man who was ushering came over to us and said, Shabbat Shalom . I had been greeted with Shalom many time before at my old church, but never Shabbat Shalom . I didn t know what was appropriate to say, but somehow Shalom came spilling out of my mouth, and the usher nodded. He gave us two books, Siddur Sim Shalom (a prayer book) and Gesher L Tefillah (another prayer book). My friend and I found it hard to follow the prayers and songs from each book because most of the text was in Hebrew and the Siddur Sim Shalom opened and was to be read from the back of the book with the pages ... Morris, Department of Accounting From: Group #1 (Matt Meenen, Bailey Ochs, Allison Olive, Marit Pavek) Date: 04/03/2014 Subject: Case 08 6, The Rump Organization Statement of Relevant Facts: The Rump Organization, a SEC registrant, is planning a corporate restructuring plan. On December 27, 2005 Ronald Rump, the CEO of the organization, along with the Board of Directors approved a plan to involuntarily terminate 100 of the organization s employees. There is an option for each of the employees to sign a litigation waiver, which forfeits any right they have for legal action against Rump. In exchange for their voluntary signing of the waiver, Rump will offer each employee a lump sum cash payment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alternatively, if the employee s termination is considered voluntary a liability will be recorded when the employee leaves the company (ASC 712 10 25 1). In order to answer this question we need to establish the communication date in the case. After establishing the communication date we need to determine if all criteria presented in ASC 420 10 25 4 are satisfied. An additional issue is if the past one time severance benefit offered to employees being terminated could be considered an enhancement to an ongoing benefit arrangement. If it is considered an enhancement, the liability would be recognized when it is probable that a future settlement will be reached (ASC 420 10 55 18). Conclusions and Authoritative Reasoning: Below is a summary of our conclusions and authoritative reasoning for each of the provisions: 1. We conclude that Rump should recognize the liability for the expected employee termination benefits on the communication date, upon meeting all four criteria presented in ASC 420 10 25 4 and communicated to the employees, which is December 31, 2005. We believe that the termination of the employees is involuntary. We also concluded that the benefit arrangement is not to be treated as an enhancement to an ongoing benefit arrangement. a. For me, my favorite vacation place is the beautiful tourist city of Tawas, Michigan. My first exciting visit to Tawas was when I was ten years old. Since then, it has been an annual family trip. My favorite place in the city of Tawas is my Aunt Debbie and Uncle Danny s cabin that overlooks Lake Huron. They kindly allow us to stay there each summer. The creaking floors and squeaky swing on the lakefront gives it special qualities to show the years of love families have experienced there. I have many treasured memories at this special location. It bring smells, feelings, thoughts, and emotions that are just what I need to refresh my mind and soul. Over the years, Tawas has become my favorite summer location because of the beautiful sites of the lake, the soothing sounds of the water, the old cabin, and the fun memories. Many have taken a stand against the genetic modifying of organisms, but what many of these people fail to realize is that humans as a species have been modifying organisms based on genetics for thousands of years. Our faithful companions, who were once wolves, were selectively bred based on their genes that expressed faithfulness to humans (Rangel 10). Similarly, the corn that the world consumes today was not the same corn grown by our human ancestors. The plants that grew tall and strong were taken and replanted for the next season. The only difference between GMOs today and the selective breeding of primitive humans is the random factor. Selective breeding relies on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, the amounts of toxins and antinutrients found have no substantial effects for common human diets and can be consumed safely without health risk. Not only has the safety of GMOs passed extensive board review by the academies of science, engineering, and medicine, but there is also an overwhelming support for GMOs from the scientific community as a whole. There are currently 123 nobel laureates who have signed an open letter of support for GMO s (Roberts, R. J., and P. A. Sharp). The letter calls upon anti gmo organizations, specifically Greenpeace, and governments around the world to embrace GMOs and the golden rice project. The golden rice project is a non profit humanitarian project which aims to modify the rice plant to contain vitamin A. Their goal is to save people in third world countries who lack the proper micronutrients due to their dependendence on rice in their diet. Vitamin A deficiency is extremely common among the poor whose diets consist of easy to grow plants, like rice, but Greenpeace and other anti gmo organisations have campaigned hard against the golden rice project. The two most popular parenting styles are extremely opposite, so controversy is bound to rise. These two styles are known as Western and Chinese , and each one has significant supports saying their respective style is superior. The Chinese style is seen as a no nonsense approach and has even been dubbed the tiger style due to its strict and harsh nature. On the other hand, the Western style offers a free flowing environment where parents are more relaxed with the handling of their children. Both parenting styles are distinct and share extremely opposing views. Amy Chua is a significant supporter for the chinese parenting style as she has even wrote a book titled Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother along with an article named Why Chinese Mothers are Superior . Chua has experience with the chinese parenting style as she was raised by it and now she is raising her own children through it. One opposer of Amy Chua is Hannah Rosin, an editor for the Atlantic and the standard for western parenting style. Rosin writes an article named Mother Inferior , which is a response to Chua s work. While you re too busy stuffing your face with those delicious desserts, did the thought ever cross your mind that what you are consuming is what may eventually lead to your death? And before you choose to dismiss this claim, here are some things you should take into consideration; the cost of eating out all the time, the cost of doctor visits and going on medication, and finally your long term psychological health. The research has shown that sugar could be as addictive as some street drugs and have similar effects on the brain. Cassie Bjork, MD., founder of healthysimplelife.com discovered through research that sugar can be even more addicting than cocaine. Dr. Bjork goes into explaining that dopamine is a neurotransmitter that is a key part of the reward circuit associated with addictive behavior. When a certain behavior causes an excess release of dopamine, you feel a pleasurable high that you are inclined to re experience. While consuming sugar, one can simply refer to it as a condiment and that it is necessary in our meals. What they re failing to realize is it has the same psychological effects as using cocaine. It messes with your brain in the same way, but doesn t give you the negative side effects of cocaine. Sugar activates the reward center in our brain the same way drugs do and provoke similar cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Alan Greene, Md., a children s health and wellness expert has mentioned that the addiction to sugar can be even harder to break due to how it affects our stress hormones. This would make sense since sugar is widely more accepted in our society than drugs and alcohol. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Approximately, 70% to 80% of all pacemakers are implanted in people 65 years old or over (Bradshaw, Stobie, knuiman, Briffa, 2014). Lithium batteries have dominated as the main source of energy for implantable medical devices. The limitations of lithium batteries have become apparent. The batteries have a limited energy capacity; therefore, this limits its use in smaller devices, which in terms reduces its lifetime. Each time the person walked approximately 1 watt was produced. The disadvantages were that the person had to have the ability to walk and it caused discomfort. Additional adjustments were made to the idea as the years progressed. In 2001, Paradiso placed the piezoelectric elements on the heel and under the toes. Kornbluh placed them on the heel of both shoes (Hannan et al., 2014). But, each one faced the issue of the patient needing the ability to walk. Electrostatic Energy Electrostatic generators use electrostatic induction to produce electricity. It converts mechanical vibrations into electricity by moving the transducer in against the electrical field. The conversion occurs with either fixed charge or fixed voltage. This method is adequate for micro implanted devices that use low power (Hannan et al., 2014). Magnetic Induction Generator There are two types of magnetic induction generators. One based on relative motion where the generator is fixed. Another, that uses body motion. In the second case, the generator is installed with the inertia force of the weight. Hoska conducted an investigation comparing the two types (Hnnan et al., 2014). He found that the second less vulnerable to constant movements and more vulnerable to vibratory movements, which can be explained due to the fact that the second type uses inertia. ... Theseus, king of Athens, was believed to be a great hero and served as the Athenian counterpart of Herakles. Primarily, Theseus was a source of Athenian pride and civic duty. Solely on his journey from Troezen to Athens, Theseus goes through six labors in which he defeats six monster and human adversaries that had plagued Greece while giving them a taste of their own medicine. He defeated Periphetes, who used his club to beat passersby to death, by using his own club to bludgeon him to death. He defeated Sinis the robber and used his cruel murder method against him, tying Sinis between two trees that were bent down to the ground, and then letting the trees go, tearing him apart. This trend continued through the killing of the Crommyonian pig, Sciron the robber, King Cercyon the wrestler, and procrustes the stretcher. Time and again, Theseus risked his life to rid the world of evil and make greece a safer place. Theseus clearly had a very strong sense of justice, he refused to stand by and allow monsters, human or otherwise, to roam the country unchecked. His strong sense of justice compelled him to punish these evildoers in a manner replicating their own crimes. Once the colosseum had been built it seems to have become the model for many, if not most, of those that followed (Hopkins and Beard 2005, 24). The Colosseum stands proudly upon the villainous Emperor Nero s once grand Valley of the Golden House, projecting the munificence of Imperial Roman Architecture of the Flavian period. Its ultimate design could be said to be formed through purpose or function. However, this does not do justice to the importance of architecture within Roman society (Thornton and Thornton in Lyes 1999, 2). The functions whether it be religious or otherwise, of the Colosseum were irrelevant to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The diameter of the entire Colosseum was thus reduced and convention disregarded to take into consideration this architectural feature. Looking in detail at the classical orders themselves which made up the levels of the façade and the 80 grand entrances of the Colosseum it would appear to not be revolutionary. However, if you engage with the architecture closer it reveals further Roman architectural ingenuity and the importance of the structures appearance. Traditionally Roman buildings saw the use of the classical Greek Doric order on ground levels (without bases) with the more decorative orders of Ionic and Corinthian stacked above this (Lyes 1999, 6). However, in the Colosseum these orders were stacked and used in a way which had no previous precedent in Roman architecture (Lyes 1999, 6). The design sees the orders dramatically reduced, which has the columns that are engaged within the structure constructed with bases, and the column shaft themselves missing the usual entasis of classic Greek orders, this all leads to a much simplified capital. Between each stacked order there is a triple facia architrave, a relatively plain designed freeze and cornice (Lyes 1999, 6). The use of the classical orders in this manner within the design of the Colosseum, without precedent, was in fact not structural but a façade or veneer. This allowed the ... Michael Moore Discussion Questions Michael Moore is a wonderful director but, I honestly don t think he deserve this award for Best Documentary Feature Film Because during his documentary he chose two random interview that so ever had no significance to each other. Moore takes seven different sentences from five different parts of Heston s speech and splices them together to create one speech. Not to mention the infamous line from my cold, dead hands. This line was actually taken from a speech a year later when Heston was presented with a hand made musket, One of those scenes was Charles Heston holding a gun wearing a different type of tie with a different color at the rally conference. Biblical Archaeological Of Biblical Archaeology Biblical archaeology is defined as a sect of archeological studies that refers to the study of lands found in the Bible and their history (biblicalarchaeology.org). The firsthand goal of Biblical archaeology is to prove the authority of scripture through providing concrete evidence that the Bible lines up with accepted geography and history. The Jerusalem Siege Tower shows the accuracy of what was described as historical events in the Bible. The Pool of Siloam is found in John 9, and proves that the places that Jesus spoke of while performing miracles really existed, and still do. While digging in the kings garden, Shuckron noticed two steps in the ground, and after getting clearance from the Israeli Antiquities Authority, they began to excavate that area, discovering the true location of the Siloam Pool. (Shanks, 88) The Pool was then identified to be a trapezoid shape and around 225 long, with steps on the at least three of the exteriors. Archaeologists were also able to identify that the pool went through two phases, and that the stone steps were a part of the second phase. In the first phase, the steps were actually plastered, not stone. They also found coins inside the plaster, which dated back to the assumed first phase of the pool. The coins were all dated back to the era of the Jewish king, Alexander Jannaeus, who would be succeeded by Herod the Great. Therefore, archaeologists can conclude that the pool was developed the late Hasmonean period or early Herodian period. Excavators also found Second Temple pottery, which had all been finished in the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, and coins from the First Jewish revolt against Rome, which lasted from 66 to 70 AD. With this knowledge, archaeologists could conclude that the pool was in use until the end of the revolt. The pool eventually disappeared under ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jane Eyre Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre emerges with a unique voice in the Victorian period for the work posits itself as a sentimental novel; however, it deliberately becomes unable to fulfill the genre, and then, it creates an altogether divergent novel that demonstrates its superiority by adding depth of structure in narration and character portrayal. • 37. The Deep Oceanic Trenches Near Thermal Vents Objective: How to find evidence of life in deep oceanic trenches near thermal vents Introduction: Deep ocean trenches are environments that have historically been shrouded in mystery, their inaccessibility rendering such limited explorations as net dragging and dredging for samples (Lee, 2012). While potential for chemosynthesis had been proposed as long ago as 1890, it was nearly a century later before such systems were demonstrated to be active on the ocean floor (German, 2011). Further investigation has shown that ecosystems are surviving and thriving along the ocean floor within these trenches. Studies have shown that deep ocean trenches contain ecosystems that are biologically and geologically active, producing a high diversity of organisms that must withstand a variety of environmental changes (Anderson et al., 2014). Recent explorations have confirmed new forms of life in deep ocean trenches. Life discovered in such an extreme environment is call for investigation. We will analyze 5000 grab samples from the deep oceanic trench to determine if the samples are dead, alive, or have never had life. We are attempting to create a picture of what life is like on the bottom of the ocean. To figure this out, we will categorize these samples, determining what has/had life and never has. In all cases, wherever there are chemically reduced compounds present, microbial activity is enhanced (German, 2011). Deep sea trenches are underwater vents to the core of the earth that ... One of the major issues the health care system is currently facing the over crowded emergency departments and extremely long waiting times. .
