Community Service Scholarship Essay
Embarking on the journey of crafting a compelling essay on the theme of "Community Service
Scholarship" is undeniably a challenging task. The difficulty lies not only in the necessity to
showcase one's academic prowess but also in weaving a narrative that highlights a genuine
commitment to community service. The challenge is to strike a delicate balance between
portraying oneself as a dedicated community contributor and avoiding the pitfalls of sounding
insincere or overly self-congratulatory.
To begin with, articulating personal experiences and involvement in community service requires a
delicate blend of humility and confidence. The writer must navigate the fine line between
showcasing their achievements and ensuring that the narrative remains relatable and grounded.
This often involves introspection, forcing the writer to reflect on their own motivations and the
impact of their service on both themselves and the community.
Additionally, the essay demands a meticulous exploration of the scholarship's criteria and
aligning one's experiences with these requirements. This necessitates a thorough understanding
of the scholarship organization's values and objectives, which can be time-consuming to
research. Crafting a personalized narrative that seamlessly integrates these elements is no small
feat and often requires multiple revisions to strike the right chord.
Furthermore, the challenge extends to maintaining a balance between personal anecdotes and
broader reflections on the importance of community service. The writer must demonstrate an
understanding of the societal issues they aim to address through their service while also
emphasizing the transformative power of their individual contributions.
In conclusion, the difficulty of writing an essay on the topic of "Community Service
Scholarship" lies in the intricate dance between humility and self-promotion, the need for
genuine reflection, and the ability to align personal experiences with the scholarship's criteria. It
is a task that demands time, patience, and a deep commitment to both community service and
effective storytelling.
For those seeking assistance in navigating this challenging terrain, HelpWriting.net offers a
plethora of resources and professional guidance. Similar essays, tailored to specific scholarship

Racist Skinheads Essay
Contrary to what most people think, not all skinheads are racist. Not all skinheads
are racist, looking or even hearing the word makes you think of a group of racist
people that are associated with the Nazi culture. The rise of skinheads was in 1969

are racist. Skinheads started in 1969 as a white working class group and a
jamaican group and it was not uncommon to see black skinheads. It was not
uncommon to see black skinheads . The white working class felt like they were
treated with disrespect and were looked at as less, so did black peopleso with
jamaican culture mixed with their shaved heads which were for work, the skinhead
became their label. Whites and blacks mixed together and brought the two cultures
to make skinheads (Don Letts). Skinheads were creating a brotherhood, a
brotherhood that felt left out of society, a group that was kicked while they were
down. The two groups needed a safe zone from all of the people that hated them.

Climate Change Throughout The World

Climate Change Throughout The World Climate change has been an argument going
on for years now. Since industrialization, there has been numerous debates asking the
question: Is climate change due to natural evolution or is it the human species
causing this change? Scientist s try their best to predict the future, but it is just that, a
prediction. Take a meteorologist for example. Your local weatherman states that it is
going to rain that day and you take all of the necessary precautions for this incident
only to see that it does not in fact rain. Climate change has not only been debated by
scientists around the world, but also become a major political debate as well.
Politicians are generally out for one thing, and that is popularity. Climate change is a
topic that is constantly changing. You never know what to believe in their speeches.
This brings me to my point, which is you never really know what is going to happen.
According to NASA, Certain gases in the atmosphere block heat from escaping. We
live in what scientist like to refer to as a ...greenhouse effect, or the warming that
happens when the atmosphere traps heat radiating from Earth toward space. (http:/
/climate.nasa.gov/) When thinking about it in this way, it makes the most sense to
me that although we are not the only reason for climate change, we are a great factor.
We cause the natural evolution of earth to progress quicker than what it

What Is Your Goals Essay
Goals are more than just things we want to achieve because goals create a roadmap
for success. Goals remind us why we do what we do, why we are where we are.
Without goals, we would not have starting points and destinations to reach. My main
goal is to live my life to the fullest with my family and friends by my side. I also want
to travel the world, get to experience other cultures and traditions, and meet new
people. My final goal is to live in a big house (in the future) preferably a two story,
this would give me a lot of space for my stuff. To accomplish these goals, I needto be
a happy person, do good in school, get a great job and have a lot of money.

how they are doing in terms of money. I want to pursue this goal because I have
always wanted a big house for myself. Some of my family members have big
houses and it s just awesome to be there I also want to pursue this goal because
since I want to live my life to the fullest, I am going to need a big house to make
that become reality. To pursue this goal, I am going to need to do research to find
a find a house of my choice and on sale. With the technology that there is today,
finding a house won t be that hard, I just need to real estate website and keep
scrolling until I find I house that I like. To pursue this goal, I will need a good job to
be able to buy a house, not a lot of money will be needed since houses in Las Vegas
are not that expensive. If I lived in California, then I would need a lot of money
because houses are double or triple the cost of houses here. Most second class
families live with other second class families in the same house for that reason.
When I lived in California, my family and I lived with another family in the same
house to split up the payments. This goal is very likely to happen if I get a good job

Gender Reflection Paper
Gender As a child, I never saw being a female as a detriment and yet now I realize
that it was such an obsticle. However that apparent detriment has not shaped my
identity, but rather my triumphs over what people perceived that I could or could
not do has molded me to be the person I am today. I was encouraged by both
parents to do whatever I wanted, and yet I recognize how my own father treated
me differently because I was a girl. There were many things that I was never taught
how to do because they were not tasks for females in his mind. Things such as
using a lawn mower, a weed whacker, and even working with some power tools
were skills that I was never given the opportunity to learn. On top of this, he has
stated that it drives him crazy that I walk around bare footed when I garden and do
not wear gloves and end up with dirt under my nails. I have been told that I should
act more like a lady . Looking back I now believe that there were certain stereotypes
that he applied to me and that I was expected to fulfill. There were also things that
he would not teach me because they weren t lady like . This could be due to the fact
that Males receive an incomplete education because they (not to mention their female

What Is The Theme Of The Hunchback Of Gre Dame
1.Feb. 23: Hunchback of Notre Dame analysis/discussion
In the film the Hunchback of Notre Dame , there are many offensive material that is
presented towards the disability community. The first topic discussed in class was
the title of the film. The title of the film the Hunchback of Notre Dame is very
offensive to the disability community. The title is offensive because the title only
emphasizes on disability instead of the actual character. The title shows the wrong
assumption of people with disability having no agency over their identity, and
having their disability define their identity as a person, which is not the case. The
second topic discussed in class was the name of Quasimodo. Quasimodo s name
means half formed in Latin. By giving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I learned from the discussion in class that your disability doesn t define you as a
person nor makes you lose yourself. To die because of a disability is not dying with
dignity. Dignity is the quality or state of being worthy, honored, or esteemed ,
which means to be worthy of yourself. If you have a disability, it doesn t mean your
not worthy, but worthy of yourself if you truly believe in yourself in any state. In
the film Sea Inside shows the lessons that were taught to me through the main
character Ramon. Ramon is a person that is disabled from the neck down. In the
start of the movie, Ramon wanted to die because he had no mobility, and he
believed he was not himself with his current state of body. Since Ramon thought
he was not himself, he thought he was not able to love or live life. Later in the
film he starts to discover himself through his new form and the long talks with is
long time lawyer. After discovering himself, Ramon finally found the will to live.
By Ramon finding the will to live give the import lesson that disabilities does not
define you as a person and to have dignity is to be worthy of yourself. At the end of
the film, Ramon inspires many people through his will to live life to the fullest. In
my opinion, that is the most important concept to me, to live life to the
Benefits Of Being A Nurse Practitioner
A nurse practitioner is a profession that permits nurses to practice medicine with
limited supervision, and they can practice without a doctorate degree. This profession
generally has more authority than registered nurses because nurse practitioners are
allowed to treat patients independently, and they receive a greater salary. However,
there are some disadvantages to this career as well, such as getting tired easily and a
lot more responsibility. Even though a nurse practitioner gets to do many things such
as practicing medicine, being one still has its advantages and disadvantages.
Being a nurse practitioner comes with many advantages. Nurse practitioners are
legally permitted to practice independently without anyone s supervision as long
as they complete their required training. They are allowed to diagnose and treat
patients. They are also more educated than a registered nurse. On top of that, a
nurse practitioner receives a larger salary than a registered nurse. One of the
biggest advantages of the expanded role of today s nurse practitioner is the salary.
According to the American Medical News, in 2011, the average median salary of
a nurse practitioner has risen to $90,583. This salary makes it clear that becoming
a nurse is a stable career choice. Along with a good salary, nurse practitioners can
expect to receive the same professional recognition and order as their MD
counterparts, as well as perform many of the same tasks. Nurse practitioners are able
to serve on
Stone Mountain Essay
As of late, Stone Mountain has been repeatedly mentioned on the news and social
media concerning the NAACP s request that the Confederate Memorial Carving
and other Civil War symbols be removed as it pertains to the racial conflict that
presided over the Civil War. Without a doubt, Stone Mountain proves itself to be an
important historical site for America s history with its origins dating back to the
time of the Native Americans. Stone Mountain can be remembered by history has a
location where the Creek Confederation and the Cherokee people met. As more land
began to be opened for white settlement, an influx of white settlers began moving in
and establishing a town at the foot of Stone Mountain. Atlanta, known as the railroad
hub of the South, has many railroads going from Atlanta to different parts of
Georgia with Stone Mountain being one. This later led to more business for the
town of Stone Mountain as people from the city started to visit the great mass of

The Napoleon Complex
The common perception that a typical person will have if you mention Napoleon
is the idea of a short, angry, and bossy little man who is aggressive to compensate
for being little, in other words having a Napoleon Complex . Ironically the idea
that Napoleon was a short man is false as he was average height for his size at the
time. A more useful way to look at a Napoleon complex would be to describe it as,
a person who is driven by a perceived handicap to overcompensate in other aspects,
in their lives. With this definition, we get what Napoleons mentality was through the
course of his life. Napoleon was born into nobility but had very little power at his
disposal, to put himself in a position of power he learned how to seemingly change
his identity and raise himself in the ranks of the French military. Once he put himself
in the most powerful position, in Francehe began to seek more power by conquering
other countries in war and making treaties with them or absorbing them into France
all together.. All this was made possible by his aggressive non stop military style
and charismatic ability. Napoleon was one of the most powerful dictators and
influential leaders in European history; he was able to accomplish feats that only the
great leader of Europehave been able to accomplish through is unrelenting ambition.
Napoleon Bonaparte was born on August 15, 1769 in the city of Ajaccio on the
island of Corsica, a conquered colony of France. It is a paradox to think that a
Tattoos and Criminal Behavior Essay
Introduction
The ancient practice of tattooing, once considered a trademark of social outcasts and
criminals, has steered back into mainstream culture at an alarming rate (Irwin 2001,
Swan 2006). In western society, tattoos are often associated with antisocial behaviour.
In 1895, Cesare Lombroso concluded in his study that the art of tattooing is most
commonly found on the bodies of criminals (Putnins 2002). The frequency of tattoo
are predicted to be found at higher rates in criminal subcultures than in the general
public. According to the 2003 Harris poll, nearly 40 million Americans have at least
one tattoo. The practice is becoming more popular with teenagers.

Houghton et al. comprised the study of 464 high school students; equally divided by
gender, from 5 separate schools in a large Australian city. All the students were given
a questionnaire of 21 questions, which ranged from location, number of tattoos, also
age of acquisition and awareness of health risks.
Another study, which analyzed the relationship between increased offending risk and
having tattoos, was conducted in an Australian prison (Putnins 2002, Crofts,
Thompson, Wales, Hernberger 1996). At the time of the study 97% of adults were
found to have tattoos. In addition, 73% of the tattooed group was found to have been
in juvenile detention centers. The average age of getting their first tattoo was
approximately 15 years old. The study concluded that the link between tattoos and
offending was quite evident even at an early age.
Arnett (1995) suggests that body modification, which include piercings and tattoos
can be best described by ones reckless impulsivity, and adolescents can be more likely
to engage in delinquent behaviour as they do not fully comprehend their actions.
Atkinson (2003) argues although some tattoos may have meaning behind it, others
get tattoos simply because it is deviant by social standards. Further more, research on
adolescent tattooing supports
The Nba Makes A Profit
The NBA makes a profit in many ways, for example the NBA makes millions of
dollars off of sponsorships, television contracts and selling merchandise. The
National Basketball Association recently signed a new TV agreement with TNT
and ESPN to approximately make $2.6 billion per season. Even with a total of 400
or so odd active players making an average of close to $5 million annually, national
TV contracts generate enough revenue to cover salaries and then some.
This graph depicts league revenue of the National Basketball Association from the
2001/02 season to the 2014/15 season (Statistica, 2016). As seen the chart above
clearly indicates the NBA makes a profit and has been gradually increasing
throughout the years, except for the season of 2011/12 but that s because the season
was shorted due to the lockout that had taken place.
The NBA has many different sponsors. Sponsorship spending On the NBA Totals

to sponsor professional basketball than the average of all sponsors, according to the

Longboarding
Longboarding is an offshoot of street skating, but, like all board sports, its roots lie
in surfing. Developed as a single sport on the west coast in the 1950s, by the 1990s,
Longboards and Skateboards branched off into their respective disciplines. With the
right setup, a longboard can give the feeling of surfing on hard smooth surfaces.
There are a variety of riding styles: downhill, cruising and carving, slalom, dancing,
freeriding, vert and sliding.[citation needed]
A longboard generally can be as short or as long as the rider desires; the most popular
range is about 36 to 60 inches. As well as being usually longer than a standard
skateboard, longboards may also be equipped with larger, softer wheels which afford
a smoother ride. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wider trucks with lower pivot angles (to increase stability at the expense of turning
capability) may be used as well as axle bearings that rotate independently of wheel
bearings to further increase top speed. (Note; this theory is disputed and many
people believe that axle bearings are not beneficial to speed, but are beneficial in
the rare case of bearing failure[citation needed]). A new type of downhill truck was
invented by Jim Ziemlanski of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada that
incorporates the use of a spherical bearing on the kingpin which allows the hanger to
pivot on a precise axis without any of the slop caused by bushings compressing under
the weight of the rider. Downhill longboarders sometimes use leather suits and
streamlined helmets to protect themselves as well as reduce aerodynamic drag.
Variations of setups include:
Drop Decks are characterized by a riding platform that is lower than the mounting
point of the trucks. This configuration is more stable (less susceptible to wobbling)
and easier to control during a slide, but sacrifices traction and turning capabilities
due to the board s lowered center of gravity and decreased leverage over the trucks.
Examples of this style of board include: Landyachtz DH Race, Landyachtz Switch,
and the Rayne Nemesis.
Drop through Decks have holes machined between the truck mounting hardware so
that the baseplate can be mounted to the top of the board. This is probably the most

himself: Your cowardice speaks to your character, Sabiri. (105) He is constantly
running away from his problems, even though he knows it will not solve anything:
Life can be tough, Sami. But hiding only makes things worse. In the end, no matter
how hard you try, you can t hide from yourself. Trust me. (101) He miserably makes
his way through each day, and he can even be seen as clueless when it comes to his
goals. When things turn sour and his dad gets arrested, he finally begins taking
initiative.
Cause And Effect Of Bullying In School
Dr.Martin Luther King Jr states that In the end we will remember not the words of
our enemies but the silence of our friends this quote develops the idea that friends
standing up and speaking up for the victim is more valuable than silence in the
moment and they re comfort when no one else is present. Bullyingin school affects
the students as it may cause distractions or long term problems among children.
Depending on how bystanders respond, they can either contribute to the problem
or the solution when it comes to the initial conflict. Some people genuinely do not
know what to do to help, others fear the bully will seek them out next as a target.
To really help in a bullying encounter you have to know what responsibility you
have in the situation. Bystanders may not think they are in the wrong for leaving
the conflict alone but really they are just as much part of the problem as the bully
themselves. The barriers to intervening are both real and powerful for young
people. For youths it is a very real possibility that doing the proper thing for
someone else will equate to doing the wrong thing for their own social status. When
bystanders intervene they can stop bullying within 10 seconds over 50% of the time
(bscsd.org bystanders). To empower kids to speak up and stand up they must be
taught how to effectively assess the situation at hand and recognize if it is safe to say
something themselves or better inform and adult about it. As well as teaching them

The World Movement Into The Anthropocene Era
Since 1975, society has pushed for greater protection and conservation of depleted
areas to reduce the anthropocentric impact on ecology. The need to protect areas from
globalisation and human violence (Cronon 1995, p.19) is due to the over extraction
of natural materials. The overuse of materials from the natural realm has devastating
effects on the biodiversityof the land due to the lack of replenishment once resources
have been extracted. Berkes (2004) presents this notion of community based
conservation, referring to conservation and development being simultaneously
achieved. In theory, this allows the interest of both the natural and human world to be
fulfilled although in reality there would be large displacements between the needs of
conservation and development (Berkes 2004). The worlds movement into the
anthropocene era creates strife between the protectionof the environment in contrast
to the capitalist influence of development. West et al. (2006) conceptualises natureand
culture dichotomy disempowering each other as an ultimatum is presented referring
to excluding the anthropocene from the land or placing unrealistic standards in which
one must achieve. It is believed that the simultaneous development of the world and
protection of nature is achievable although many critics, such as West, demonstrate
another truth, being the natural world and the anthropocene cannot co exist. Sarkar
(1999) discusses overconsumption of the wilderness and biodiversity, making
Examples Of Corporate Social Responsibility In A
Christmas...
Based on the movie A Christmas Carol 2009 , issue that we found that relevant to the
business ethic is the corporate social irresponsibility (CSI). Corporate social
irresponsibility (CSI) refers to the dark side, as it investigates the wrongful and
damaging business decisions that managers might take. Corporate social
irresponsibility to concepts such as corporate culpability and undesirability and
irresponsibility, in its various forms such as corruption, bribery, environmental
degradation, and social injustice, is most frequently found in poorer regions, those
with fewer social resources or educational opportunities (Sanchez‐Runde et al.,
2013, p. 690). Because of corporate social irresponsibility, the business performance
decline, customer dissatisfaction and low profitability will be happen. In the
beginning, we found that the unethical issue is that the ignorance of legal
responsibilities. This mean that the business ignore the laws and regulations that all
firms that are expected to abide by as they perform their daily functions. In the
movie, Ebenezer Scroogeas a founder and employer of his business named

Igor Stravinsky s The Rite Of Spring
As I listened to Igor Stravinsky download 70, Stravinsky s musical piece differs
from that of the romantic era by the unadorned lines, raw energy, and elemental truth
in which was incorporated into his musical piece I listened to and analyzed The Rite
of Spring. During this period modern artists such as Igor Stravinskywere determined
to turn the public away from Romantic idealism and back to harsh reality, as stated.
In this particular piece it was heard to have intensifying metallic sounds which are
not expected catching the listeners as well as the dancers of this particular art off
guard. Whereas, in the romantic era calm signifying sounds are incorporated in each
musical piece. In The Rite of SpringStravinsky takes the listeners as well

Gender And Sexual Issues Among Men And Women
There are certain assumptions made by society that are likely to make a women
accused of witch craft such as social status, age, and marital status. It is clear that the
gender and sexual issues among men and women are a contribution towards those
who were punished for witch craft. Women who were blamed for witchcrafthad very
little sway to change the minds of others once that seed was planted. Even though a
womanmay be poor or even unmarried these were characteristics that made a
woman more likely to be an easy target to blame mishaps on. A woman s social
status stemmed from popular misogyny and the ideals that men expected from
them. For example during the fifteenth century Dominican reform movement they
promoted celibacy in woman. A woman s sexuality was thought of in the same
way as Virgin Mary so they equated sin and death and if a women did not fit into
this religious picture she was most likely to be accused of witch craft. As stated by
Sigrid The Malleus claims that women rather than men become witches because
they are weaker, less intelligent, and so lascivious that they fall easy prey to
temptation (Fearless Wives, pg. 14). This idea stemming from the fifteenth century
reform is a representation of how men thought of woman. Men believed that
women were more likely to succumb to witchy powers because they are easily
tempted or not as smart. Most alleged witches were spinsters who were poor rural
spinners working for low wage. However the job itself caused
Generational Poverty Essay
Introduction
This week in class the focus has been on generational poverty. There are a lot of key
factors that lead to poverty. Poverty does not exist because people want it to.
Poverty is a way of life for those who don t know another way and feel that they don t
have a way out. Every day in society people turn their heads or frown up their nose at
people who they see living in poverty because they think they are better than them
and will not lift a hand to help them out. The big question is why do we do this? In
most cases, the poverty line or clash of the classes are based on wealth and there is
certainly a variation in the wealth among the population. But classism exists from the
beginning of education to death. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next factor is education. Education attainment is a major if not the most
important key to breaking the cycle of generational poverty. Research has shown that
growing up in a lower income family negatively impacts educational obtainment
needed to break the cycle of poverty. Learned behavior within peer groups, families
and neighborhoods can also contribute to the cycle of poverty. Those with minimal
education tend to find themselves employed at low paying jobs with little or no
benefits. In addition, financial literacy and training is an important educational
component that is needed to break the cycle of poverty.
Employment is the third factor. There has been a significant decline in
manufacturing jobs, which are typically high paying with good benefits. There is
a growing mismatch with the skills of these displaced workers and available jobs.
The loss of these manufacturing jobs has resulted in many folks going back to
generational poverty. In a lot of cases, there are a growth of new jobs but these
jobs tends to come with low pay and no benefits, which can further prevent breaking
out of the cycle poverty. Also, multiple income based antipoverty programs can have
a negative impact of work incentives. This is due to the fact these programs have to
be funded with funds that could be used to pay workers to help them overcome
The Color Of Our Skin Daren
The color of our skin daren t portray the lives that we live on a daily basis, that is
what s wrong with today s society. Prior to 9/11 law enforcement officials had been
using racial profiling on a daily basis in their efforts to combat crime. With the
attacks on 9/11 an enemy that had previously been invisible became very much a
reality. A reality that needed to be dealt with immediately using the only tools that
were available at the moment. Just because racial profiling was semi effective doesn
t make it right. It s what makes it wrong.
What is terrorism? Terrorism is the use of threat or violence especially as a means of
forcing others to do what one wishes. Terrorism is real and it comes in many forms,
even you may not know it is terrorism; it happens constantly all around the world
every day. There are many groups that practice terrorism a few in particular that
our government has to deal with on a daily basis to make sure the people in our
country stay safe. Like for example the Muslims, Arabs, and Israeli have groups
that are highly trained and will use deadly force no matter the computation. The
tactics they use could be a lot of things for example like cyber war, piracy and
suicide. They have people literally willing to commit suicide with a bomb strapped
to their chest or have a box somewhere or something just to help their people out
they think it s a good thing to do even if they don t succeed in what the mission really
was. And terrorism isn t just
The Role Of Music In The Godfather
Music plays a critical role in the narrative films as it is important technique that
filmmakers use to support the narrative and influence the way that the viewer
interacts, responds and interprets the events as they unfold. The godfather, which is
one of all time Hollywood movies, represents a good use of musicthat succeeded in
supporting the dramatic events that take place in the movie. Moreover, both diegetic
and non diegetic music in the godfather movie are used to achieve the overall
purpose by using the different principles and functions of filmmusic that range from
setting the mood of the viewer to providing continuity within the movie. In this essay,
we will take part of the godfather movie in which we can observe and analyse the...

the beats pass (tempo) gets faster and higher and the overall rhythm of the music
becomes gradually strong and reaches its top when Mr. Woltz sees the horse head
,that was first presented in the movie as one of the best racehorses in the world, on
his bed(00:31:42 00:32:11). The use of the non diegetic music in this shot imparts a
mood, atmosphere and emotional climate of horror and fear to the viewer.
Moving to the next scene, as Mr. Woltz screams after seeing the horse head on his

Theme Of Dreams In A Midsummer Night s Dream
A dream is a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occuring in a person s mind
during sleep. Love is a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal
ties. Love and dreams go hand in hand and in A Midsummer Night s Dream, love
takes on many of the characteristics of dreams and the two are almost indiscernible.
Some characteristics of dreams are nightmarish, possibly peaceful, short lived,
exaggerated, able to foretell the future, supernatural, uncontrollable, and that they
have no chronological time. Mainly though, dreams are a way for people to picture
fantasies and play out uncontrollable actions without fear of consequences. In
Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream, loveis a key recurring topic that can be
either good or bad. Love is constantly changing or being manipulated and an
example of this love is when Oberon, the king of the Fairies, gives his wife, Titania,
the queen of the Fairies, a potion that makes her fall in love with an ass (77).
Oberon does this act out of spite because his wife does not want to give him a
changeling boy, an ugly idiot, stupid, fairy baby left in the human world, as a
servant. Oberon instructs his personal fairy servant, Puck, to give a potion to
Oberon s wife and make her fall in love with an ass. There are two dreams in A
Midsummer Night s Dream that critics say are the only two that really matter. One of
these dreams is done by Hermia, the daughter of a nobleman of Athens (class notes).

Italian American Culture
With Italians traveling to America to find a new world to explore and evolve in, they
found some interesting changes, and stereotypes that ended up transforming how
they acted and dealt with Americans. Italian American culture was a transition of
hardships, to learning that the American standard was not as strict as it was in Italy.
Most of the men in our room worked at digging the sewer. Bartolo got them the
work and they paid him one quarter of their wages. Then he charged them for
board... (36 Black Boot Barn). This quote demonstrates to us, that people took
advantage of the newer Italian immigrants setting them not only a job, but shelter
as well. While they were trying to find a step to settle on, they had people who
have been residents for a while use these people, until they stood up and became
more independent. There are examples of when something good was taught to
Italians, and they realized that America was not as uptight in accepting abuse. In
Rosa s journey of working in America she broke a lamp and started breaking down
in tears, but then a lady said, But Rosa, they said, you did a good thing! That lamp
was terrible! Somebody gave it to us so we had to keep it (Rosa 221). This
demonstrates that, sometimes, breaking something or messing up was alright,
because it was a natural error that was accepted instead of a death penalty. In the
school system, stereotypes took a role in younger Italian children and what they were
good at. The main character in Mount
Shakespeare Was A Playwright That Emphasized Tragedy,
Love
Shakespeare was a playwright that emphasized tragedy, love and deceit. Similarities
between Shakespeare and Sigmund Freud s theories are profoundly similar. Much of
Freud s theories are based upon repressed memories, the unconscious mind and
psycho sexual stages of development. These theories remain controversial from first
introduction of his ideologies to current time, (Mitchell, Black, 2016). Freud, much
like Shakespeare, was not afraid to shy away from taboo subjects and tragic endings.
Shakespeare demonstrates several examples ranging from Freud s various defense
mechanisms such as the unconscious transference of certain feelings, attitudes or
impulses from their subconscious onto another individual, or the projection of their...

(Mitchell, 2016) The id level of basic human personality holds forbidden and
hedonistic thoughts and desires. The superego is a level within our personality,
according to Freud that is present within us from within the first five years of life.
The superego is on the absolute opposite end of the spectrum from the id. The
superego holds the personality s morals and conscience, keeping the individual
from conducting any immoral act. It provides us with feelings of guilt and pride,
keeping us continually wanting to maintain a high level of morality. However, the
superego is unrealistic without balance. It is highly critical and ethical and is
derived from parental morals during the informative years of learning between
right and wrong. (Mitchell, 2016) During Act I, Scene II, Cassius has brought to

manipulative intentions towards Brutus. Brutus self reflects during this scene as he
is aware that he is not feeling like himself, Merely upon
Trace The Pathway Of A Bill Essay
Jeanelle Carmona PSC 201 Essay #8 Trace the pathway of a bill through both
houses of congress. The process in which a bill becomes a law can be a lengthy
one, it must go through many steps in order to become the law of the land. It is
believed that this process should be a matter that every American citizen should be
informed of in order to fully understand and appreciate the inner workings of
congress with regard to The House of Representatives and the Senate. The steps in
which a bill becomes a law is an example of the democratic way of life here in The
United States. The fact that a proposal cannot become a law without consideration
and approval by both houses of congress is an outstanding virtue of our bicameral
legislative system. (Sullivan 1 2) Anyone can write a bill not just a member of
congress. Any citizen, group or organization can draw up a bill. The right to
petition is guaranteed by the first amendment. These bills are usually written in the
form of a letter. It is estimated that more then 15,000 bills are introduced to The
House of Representatives and the Senate each year. Each one is then assigned to a
committee after it is given a number. 22 of these committees belong to The House
of Representatives and 15 to the Senate. The majority of all laws originate in The
House of Representatives. These bills fall into two categories, private and public. A
public bill is any bill that affects the public or the nation. An example of a public bill
The Big Dipper in Taoism Essay
The belief and worshipping of the Big Dipper has been around for ages and it has

because of the popularity of Taoism as a religion. Due to the flourish of Taoism, the
worshipping of Big Dipper star group bloomed among the people. However, with the
fall of Taoism due to modernization and the impact of foreign religions such as
Buddhism, Christianity and other religions, there has been a significant decandancy
in the worshipping of stars. In this essay, I am intending to find out how the
worshipping of the Big Dipper came about and the influence that it created among the

Big Dipper in Taoist Astrology
In Taoism, each timing stands for a particular star. For example, one maybe born in
the 23rd Feb, at 3pm. Each of this timings, 23rd Feb and 3pm, can be linked to a
particular star and these stars will affect one s destiny and character in time to come.
Thus, stars are exceptionally important in Taoism as it directly affects the wellbeing
of humans.
There was a book, гЂЉж џз»ЏгЂ‹ the Book of Stars. The author of this book was
not recorded and it should be written around the Han dynasty. In this book, it was
written that the Big Dipper was in charge of the Emperor s destiny and longevity.
During the Jin Dynasty, the status of Taoism rose through the ranks amongst other
religions and philosophy. This is due to the literature culture during the Wei Jin

because of they way we do things. I feel a lot of older people don t like the change

blame the younger generations. I completely agree that the younger generations
have some spoiled brats, some younger people who are really rude, and don t have
manners. However I feel like we are discovering more, and more whether it is
about the human body, technology, or the environment. I feel in my opinion that
the younger generations are seen as dumb, irresponsible, lazy, and are not really

The Simple Linear Regression Model
PURPOSE
This report will discuss the simple linear regression model; throughout two variables,
the predictor variable (independent) and one response variable (dependent) will be
used to explain the models. In so doing, it explains the underlying assumptions when
fitting both variables into models and statistical tools.
In addition to findings from statistical analyses, this report communicates in clear
terms the significance of data on the retention rate (%) and the graduation rate (%)
for the sample of 29 online colleges in the United States. With this said, Section 3
Results presents graphical illustrations and a scatter diagram on this relationship
between the variables while Section 4 discusses the implications .
BACKGROUND
As a background for this report, the Online Education Database records that in recent
times, online universities have experienced rapid growth. However, this presents
some challenges to the higher education sector. In order to examine the relationship
between retention rate which is denoted by RR% and graduation rate; GR% for 29
online colleges.
METHOD
As a starting point, in order to determine the relationship between retention rate (RR
%) and the graduation rate (GR %), variables were run through the Data Analysis add
in tool on Microsoft Excel 2013. In all, the twenty nine (29) observations showed
descriptive statistics and simple linear regression results. Following this, a scatter

All Faiths Food Bank Organization
All Faiths Food Bank is an organization that collects food products from many
donation sources and distributes them to local people that are in need. The
organization moves the food through its 20,000 square foot warehouse, off Fruitville
Road in Sarasota (A). After the food is properly inspected, it is then distributed to,
currently 184, Sarasota and DeSoto County agencies and outpost centers, such as
mobile pantries at community centers and churches (A). Those that are deemed
financially eligible applicants can then receive their, much needed, nutritional
assistance. Because of the summer programs last year, such as the backpack
program, 26,986 children received food; this equates to 1,994,415 meals (B). It is
estimated that All Faiths Food Bank supplies a total of approximately 8 million
pounds of food per year, which equates to 6.5 million meals (A).
My first, 3 hour, volunteer session was this past Saturday morning at the food bank
warehouse. I worked alongside a team of 9 people with Ben, our lead supervisor,
and Fran Tally, the organization s volunteer coordinator. Our shift assignment was to
unpack large boxes of mingled frozen meats and pack the contents into separate 40

Purpose And Purpose In The Endurance
How Relationship, Purpose, and Cheerfulness Can Make A Difference To Survive.
The Endurance is about the struggle of 28 men who journey through the Antarctic.
Shackleton was able to recruit men to sail on the Endurance to the Antarctic and
cross by foot. The men were ready for adventure and excited to begin the journey
with haste, not realizing that they were going to encounter the struggles of survival.
There were three ways that they were able to overcome adversity: strong
relationships, purpose, and cheerfulness. Having a strong relationship with peers is
essential for the times of crisis. During the long polar nights, the crew on board the
Belgica suffered from insanity and many lost their lives due to isolation. The
crewmembers that were on the Endurance had the reverse effect. They had the desire
to get to know each other even though their characters were contrasting, and they
began to draw closer to each other by talking and sharing experiences. On the
Belgica, there was no relationship between the men, and even one man feared that his
crewmates wanted to kill him. The crewmembers of the Endurance valued
relationships and were able to survive the polar nights. Even in the Bible, God gave
Adam a wife because He knew that it was better for Adam. In Genesis 2:18 it says,
And the Lord God said, It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a
helper comparable to him. God created Eve to be with Adam. God knew that it was
better for Adam to have a
Description Of The Disorder. What If You Were Physically
Description of the Disorder What if you were physically paralyzed, conscious, and
unable to communicate? You would feel locked in, trapped in your body, constantly
searching for a way to communicate with the outside world. Locked in Syndrome is
a rare condition in which a patient is unable to produce any form of movement or
verbal communication. An individual with Locked in Syndrome (LIS) is affected by
tetraplegia, which is the partial or complete paralysis of the limbs in the human body
(Villines, 2015); an additional symptom includes anarthria, or the inability to
produce speech, which results from a loss of function in the speech muscles and a
difficulty articulating words (Vega, 2016). Patients affected by LIS are often
described as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A patient with classical LIS has the potential to improve dramatically over a
prolonged amount of time. In contrast, the recovery for patients with incomplete or
total LIS may take more time and appears more difficult to accomplish.
Symptoms of LIS are similar to those that occur during sleep paralysis; however,
LIS is not considered a transitional state between being awake and asleep. Some
characteristic of LIS include a difficulty breathing, and the inability to chew,
swallow, speak, and control movements in the lower area of the face. Locked in
Syndrome is not more prevalent in any age, race, nor gender. However, individuals
prone to stroke and traumatic brain injury victims are more likely to become locked
in. In addition, there is no standard course for this disorder; the development of LIS
is abrupt, rather than progressive, and diagnosis may take years.
Etiology and Associated Medical Information How can an individual be cognitively
locked in? Locked in Syndrome can be caused by poisoning, brainstem strokes,
infarctions, traumatic brain injuries, medication overdose, and progressive
neurodegenerative diseases. Common neurodegenerative diseases that may
potentially be affected by Locked in Syndrome (LIS) include: amyotrophic lateral
sclerosis, myelin loss, and the inflammation of nerves. LIS is often a result of
damage afflicted on the pons, an area on the brainstem in charge of sensory and
motor roles.

signs of America influence came from every which direction. With the American
economy booming, Americans were able to come up with more ideas to go along
with the society they were now living. According to The Gilder Lehrman Institute
of American History, the years after World War II were often described as an
economic miracle. The GNP was growing rapidly, and America was quickly on the
page to becoming the richest country in the world. The average family also started
bringing in a greater income for their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Large companies also began to move their franchises overseas for cheaper work
labor. As the industrial life changed, so did the lives of the Americans. An article The
United States, 1945 1995 mentions that the American jobs went from producing
goods to talking to people and providing services. With growing education levels,
home ownership, and higher income allowed Americans to become apart of the
consumer republic. Consumption from a home fired the postwar economy more than
anything. This was caused because of the amount of houses that were sold from the
nineteen fifties to the nineteen seventies. The industries encouraged consumers to
replace their appliances and automobiles every two years. The amount of money
spent on household things increased drastically since the end of World War II. The
children also encourage consumption. The baby boom allowed for industries to focus
on selling and advertising items for their age. The industries came up with new baby
products. As the baby boomers got older the companies kept up and created more
things that, that age would like and parents would buy. Along with everything else
the television began to revolutionize as well. Television became to emerge quickly in
the United States. Only the personal computer and automobile were able to be equal
to the television in transforming technology. In 1947 there were over seven thousand
homes, three years later American homes owned seven million television
My Life Of My Mother
Literacy has always been close to my identity as a person. My mother wanted the
best for her children, and therefore would sing and read to us as soon as we were
born. She encouraged out love of words and books by taking us to the library for
reading time and always seemed to find the most amazing books for us to explore.
My mother is very musically gifted, so songs were part of our daily routine. There
are still little songs that pop into my head about daily tasks that she created to help
us learn and make work and learning fun. When I grew a bit older, around the age
of four, my mother formed a group with other women in our neighborhood to form a
preschool. They used the Joy School curriculum and took turns having all of us over
to their homes so that we could learn and play together. I remember there was lots of
music, readingmany books, playing all sorts of games, and a yearly Christmas
program. Around this time, I began to learn about phonics and loved figuring out
which letters made which sounds. My mother tells me that I liked to rhyme a lot
as a little child because I found it fun. She said she thinks this is when my love of
poetry started to develop. As I transitioned into early elementary school, I was well
prepared to enter Kindergarten. Because I have always been pretty independent and
self driven, my mother did not really have to push me to read. I started reading the
summer before Kindergarten and knew most sight words and how to sound out words

Keeping The Lines Of Communication
It s tough to realize that less than 5 years ago we were living in a country of plenty.
The U.S Economy had plenty of jobs, plenty of housing, plenty of security. With the
turn our economy has taken, it s easy to succumb to depression and despair. While
our whole country is having difficulty dealing with these hard times, you as an
individual could be taking it worse. Avoiding depressionin these hard economic times
is hard, but it can be done. Use these tips to help yourself and your loved ones from
losing control of your positive emotions. Communicate Keeping the lines of
communication open during hard times is the most important thing you can do to
avoid depression. When you feel down, it is an automatic response to close
yourself off from those around you. Letting yourself feel as if you have no one is
the fastest road to depression. Talking with your spouse and family members about
the hard road ahead will allow you to keep the problem from over taking you. Give
Thanks Sometimes it s hard to be thankful for what you have. If you or your spouse
has lost a job or had a reduction in salary giving thanks for still having at least one
job or one salary may seem hard to do. Depression can set in quickly if you aren t
careful and prepare yourself with the defense to fight it off. Let yourself realize and
be thankful for what you still have. Budget Yourself Not feeling like you have
enough money is another road to depression. Instead of feeling that you don t have
The Trial Of The Ku Klux Klan
The United States has a long, troubled history of slavery and racism within its
culture. It is an unfortunate part of our history that we continue to see to this day.
The Argument of D. T. Corbin in the Trial of the Ku Klux before the States Circuit
Court is a closing argument to the jury from David T. Corbin. Corbin was a very
respected and qualified individual at this time. He would go on to win the Senate
election a few years after this document was created. The trial was for the Ku Klux
Klan and whether or not their beliefs and actions were legal. Corbin was strongly
against the klan and made sure people knew it. The events that took place in the
trial of the Ku Klux Klan, held in Columbia, South Carolina, happened in a
tumultuous time period in United States history. The hearing took place in
November of 1871, which was six years after the end of the Civil War. As many
people know, the Civil War was fought largely due to the role of slavery in the United
States. The southern states, the Confederacy, were pro slavery, and the north, the
Union, was against it. Racismwas a major issue at the time. African Americans had
little to no rights before the war, and after the war Congress amended the constitution
to give more rights to the African Americans in this country to much disgust of the
southern states. In this document Corbin portrays the KKK in a negative manner by
calling on witnesses who were a part of the klan, calls witnesses who were victims,
and brings up

Community Service Scholarship Essay.pdf

  • 1. Community Service Scholarship Essay Embarking on the journey of crafting a compelling essay on the theme of "Community Service Scholarship" is undeniably a challenging task. The difficulty lies not only in the necessity to showcase one's academic prowess but also in weaving a narrative that highlights a genuine commitment to community service. The challenge is to strike a delicate balance between portraying oneself as a dedicated community contributor and avoiding the pitfalls of sounding insincere or overly self-congratulatory. To begin with, articulating personal experiences and involvement in community service requires a delicate blend of humility and confidence. The writer must navigate the fine line between showcasing their achievements and ensuring that the narrative remains relatable and grounded. This often involves introspection, forcing the writer to reflect on their own motivations and the impact of their service on both themselves and the community. Additionally, the essay demands a meticulous exploration of the scholarship's criteria and aligning one's experiences with these requirements. This necessitates a thorough understanding of the scholarship organization's values and objectives, which can be time-consuming to research. Crafting a personalized narrative that seamlessly integrates these elements is no small feat and often requires multiple revisions to strike the right chord. Furthermore, the challenge extends to maintaining a balance between personal anecdotes and broader reflections on the importance of community service. The writer must demonstrate an understanding of the societal issues they aim to address through their service while also emphasizing the transformative power of their individual contributions. In conclusion, the difficulty of writing an essay on the topic of "Community Service Scholarship" lies in the intricate dance between humility and self-promotion, the need for genuine reflection, and the ability to align personal experiences with the scholarship's criteria. It is a task that demands time, patience, and a deep commitment to both community service and effective storytelling. Not all skinheads are racist, looking or even hearing the word makes you think of a group of racist people that are associated with the Nazi culture. The rise of skinheads was in 1969 in england and more history. Contrary to what most people think, not all skinheads are racist. Skinheads started in 1969 as a white working class group and a jamaican group and it was not uncommon to see black skinheads. It was not uncommon to see black skinheads . The white working class felt like they were treated with disrespect and were looked at as less, so did black peopleso with jamaican culture mixed with their shaved heads which were for work, the skinhead became their label. Whites and blacks mixed together and brought the two cultures to make skinheads (Don Letts). Skinheads were creating a brotherhood, a brotherhood that felt left out of society, a group that was kicked while they were down. The two groups needed a safe zone from all of the people that hated them. Black skinheads were not considered black they were skinheads, friends, mates (Don Letts). • 3. Climate Change Throughout The World Krista Falco Professor Brown English 1301, WS5 April 23, 2015 Climate Change Throughout The World Climate change has been an argument going on for years now. Since industrialization, there has been numerous debates asking the question: Is climate change due to natural evolution or is it the human species causing this change? Scientist s try their best to predict the future, but it is just that, a prediction. Take a meteorologist for example. Your local weatherman states that it is going to rain that day and you take all of the necessary precautions for this incident only to see that it does not in fact rain. Climate change has not only been debated by scientists around the world, but also become a major political debate as well. Politicians are generally out for one thing, and that is popularity. Climate change is a topic that is constantly changing. You never know what to believe in their speeches. This brings me to my point, which is you never really know what is going to happen. According to NASA, Certain gases in the atmosphere block heat from escaping. We live in what scientist like to refer to as a ...greenhouse effect, or the warming that happens when the atmosphere traps heat radiating from Earth toward space. (http:/ /climate.nasa.gov/) When thinking about it in this way, it makes the most sense to me that although we are not the only reason for climate change, we are a great factor. We cause the natural evolution of earth to progress quicker than what it

Bullyingin school affects the students as it may cause distractions or long term problems among children. Depending on how bystanders respond, they can either contribute to the problem or the solution when it comes to the initial conflict. Some people genuinely do not know what to do to help, others fear the bully will seek them out next as a target. The need to protect areas from globalisation and human violence (Cronon 1995, p.19) is due to the over extraction of natural materials. The overuse of materials from the natural realm has devastating effects on the biodiversityof the land due to the lack of replenishment once resources have been extracted. Berkes (2004) presents this notion of community based conservation, referring to conservation and development being simultaneously achieved. In theory, this allows the interest of both the natural and human world to be fulfilled although in reality there would be large displacements between the needs of conservation and development (Berkes 2004). The worlds movement into the anthropocene era creates strife between the protectionof the environment in contrast to the capitalist influence of development. West et al. • 27. Gender And Sexual Issues Among Men And Women There are certain assumptions made by society that are likely to make a women accused of witch craft such as social status, age, and marital status. It is clear that the gender and sexual issues among men and women are a contribution towards those who were punished for witch craft. Women who were blamed for witchcrafthad very little sway to change the minds of others once that seed was planted. Even though a womanmay be poor or even unmarried these were characteristics that made a woman more likely to be an easy target to blame mishaps on. A woman s social status stemmed from popular misogyny and the ideals that men expected from them. For example during the fifteenth century Dominican reform movement they promoted celibacy in woman. A woman s sexuality was thought of in the same way as Virgin Mary so they equated sin and death and if a women did not fit into this religious picture she was most likely to be accused of witch craft. As stated by Sigrid The Malleus claims that women rather than men become witches because they are weaker, less intelligent, and so lascivious that they fall easy prey to temptation (Fearless Wives, pg. 14). This idea stemming from the fifteenth century reform is a representation of how men thought of woman. Men believed that women were more likely to succumb to witchy powers because they are easily tempted or not as smart. Most alleged witches were spinsters who were poor rural spinners working for low wage. However the job itself caused
  • 28. Generational Poverty Essay Introduction This week in class the focus has been on generational poverty. There are a lot of key factors that lead to poverty. Poverty does not exist because people want it to. Poverty is a way of life for those who don t know another way and feel that they don t have a way out. Every day in society people turn their heads or frown up their nose at people who they see living in poverty because they think they are better than them and will not lift a hand to help them out. The big question is why do we do this? In most cases, the poverty line or clash of the classes are based on wealth and there is certainly a variation in the wealth among the population. But classism exists from the beginning of education to death. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next factor is education. Education attainment is a major if not the most important key to breaking the cycle of generational poverty. Research has shown that growing up in a lower income family negatively impacts educational obtainment needed to break the cycle of poverty. Learned behavior within peer groups, families and neighborhoods can also contribute to the cycle of poverty. Those with minimal education tend to find themselves employed at low paying jobs with little or no benefits. In addition, financial literacy and training is an important educational component that is needed to break the cycle of poverty. Employment is the third factor. There has been a significant decline in manufacturing jobs, which are typically high paying with good benefits. There is a growing mismatch with the skills of these displaced workers and available jobs. The loss of these manufacturing jobs has resulted in many folks going back to generational poverty. In a lot of cases, there are a growth of new jobs but these jobs tends to come with low pay and no benefits, which can further prevent breaking out of the cycle poverty. Also, multiple income based antipoverty programs can have a negative impact of work incentives. This is due to the fact these programs have to be funded with funds that could be used to pay workers to help them overcome

With the attacks on 9/11 an enemy that had previously been invisible became very much a reality. A reality that needed to be dealt with immediately using the only tools that were available at the moment. Just because racial profiling was semi effective doesn t make it right. It s what makes it wrong. What is terrorism? Terrorism is the use of threat or violence especially as a means of forcing others to do what one wishes. Terrorism is real and it comes in many forms, even you may not know it is terrorism; it happens constantly all around the world every day. There are many groups that practice terrorism a few in particular that our government has to deal with on a daily basis to make sure the people in our country stay safe. Like for example the Muslims, Arabs, and Israeli have groups that are highly trained and will use deadly force no matter the computation. The tactics they use could be a lot of things for example like cyber war, piracy and suicide. They have people literally willing to commit suicide with a bomb strapped to their chest or have a box somewhere or something just to help their people out they think it s a good thing to do even if they don t succeed in what the mission really was. • 31. Theme Of Dreams In A Midsummer Night s Dream A dream is a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occuring in a person s mind during sleep. Love is a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties. Love and dreams go hand in hand and in A Midsummer Night s Dream, love takes on many of the characteristics of dreams and the two are almost indiscernible. Some characteristics of dreams are nightmarish, possibly peaceful, short lived, exaggerated, able to foretell the future, supernatural, uncontrollable, and that they have no chronological time. Mainly though, dreams are a way for people to picture fantasies and play out uncontrollable actions without fear of consequences. In Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream, loveis a key recurring topic that can be either good or bad. Love is constantly changing or being manipulated and an example of this love is when Oberon, the king of the Fairies, gives his wife, Titania, the queen of the Fairies, a potion that makes her fall in love with an ass (77). Oberon does this act out of spite because his wife does not want to give him a changeling boy, an ugly idiot, stupid, fairy baby left in the human world, as a servant. Oberon instructs his personal fairy servant, Puck, to give a potion to Oberon s wife and make her fall in love with an ass. There are two dreams in A Midsummer Night s Dream that critics say are the only two that really matter. One of these dreams is done by Hermia, the daughter of a nobleman of Athens (class notes). Italian American Culture With Italians traveling to America to find a new world to explore and evolve in, they found some interesting changes, and stereotypes that ended up transforming how they acted and dealt with Americans. Italian American culture was a transition of hardships, to learning that the American standard was not as strict as it was in Italy. Most of the men in our room worked at digging the sewer. Bartolo got them the work and they paid him one quarter of their wages. Then he charged them for board... (36 Black Boot Barn). This quote demonstrates to us, that people took advantage of the newer Italian immigrants setting them not only a job, but shelter as well. While they were trying to find a step to settle on, they had people who have been residents for a while use these people, until they stood up and became more independent. There are examples of when something good was taught to Italians, and they realized that America was not as uptight in accepting abuse. In Rosa s journey of working in America she broke a lamp and started breaking down in tears, but then a lady said, But Rosa, they said, you did a good thing! That lamp was terrible! Somebody gave it to us so we had to keep it (Rosa 221). This demonstrates that, sometimes, breaking something or messing up was alright, because it was a natural error that was accepted instead of a death penalty. In the school system, stereotypes took a role in younger Italian children and what they were good at. The main character in Mount

The process in which a bill becomes a law can be a lengthy one, it must go through many steps in order to become the law of the land. It is believed that this process should be a matter that every American citizen should be informed of in order to fully understand and appreciate the inner workings of congress with regard to The House of Representatives and the Senate. The steps in which a bill becomes a law is an example of the democratic way of life here in The United States. The fact that a proposal cannot become a law without consideration and approval by both houses of congress is an outstanding virtue of our bicameral legislative system. (Sullivan 1 2) Anyone can write a bill not just a member of congress. Any citizen, group or organization can draw up a bill. The right to petition is guaranteed by the first amendment. These bills are usually written in the form of a letter. It is estimated that more then 15,000 bills are introduced to The House of Representatives and the Senate each year. Each one is then assigned to a committee after it is given a number. 22 of these committees belong to The House of Representatives and 15 to the Senate. The majority of all laws originate in The House of Representatives. These bills fall into two categories, private and public. A public bill is any bill that affects the public or the nation. The Endurance is about the struggle of 28 men who journey through the Antarctic. Shackleton was able to recruit men to sail on the Endurance to the Antarctic and cross by foot. The men were ready for adventure and excited to begin the journey with haste, not realizing that they were going to encounter the struggles of survival. There were three ways that they were able to overcome adversity: strong relationships, purpose, and cheerfulness. Having a strong relationship with peers is essential for the times of crisis. During the long polar nights, the crew on board the Belgica suffered from insanity and many lost their lives due to isolation. The crewmembers that were on the Endurance had the reverse effect. They had the desire to get to know each other even though their characters were contrasting, and they began to draw closer to each other by talking and sharing experiences. On the Belgica, there was no relationship between the men, and even one man feared that his crewmates wanted to kill him.
