Analysis Of Galileo s Dialogues
In Galileo s Dialogues Concerning Two New Sciences, the discussion is broken up into multiple days.
In the First Day, Galileo, through the dialogue between Simplicio, Sagredo, and Salviati, discusses and
exemplifies various topics. They begin by considering scale in mechanics, and then later, infinity,
void, and end the day by discussing pendulums and the vibrations of strings. These topics are
ultimately main ideas of the text, and are explored through dialogue and proposed practicals.
However, the form of the text itself is of as much interest as the subjects, namely the purposes of the
dialogue format, the three characters, and whether the form lends or detracts from the general
understanding of the text. As a whole, the First Day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ultimately, a weight is to be attached to the wire, so that is pulls down in an attempt to pull the top of
the wooden cylinder within the glass cylinder away from the water within it (pgs. 14 15). He
concludes that, if the wooden cylinder does not separate from the water, it is because of the force of
nature rejecting the creation of a vacuum, and if the glass breaks after adding more weight, then the
vacuum only accounts for a part of the resistance. Sagredo claims to reach clarity after the explanation
of this experiment, and then compares it to how water will only move up a cylinder to a height of
eighteen cubits before it will travel no more. However, it is difficult to see how this experiment
explains how a nail of greater size can have a greater strength than that of a smaller size. It is required
to make the logical jump that the individual pieces that make up an iron nail act with each other in the
same way that water does. As water does not want to separate from itself in the space of the cylinder
as described in the above experiment, a nail does not want to separate from itself, even if there is a
great weight pulling on it. In the experiment, if too great a weight was applied, the glass broke, in the
case of the nail, one can only assume that the equivalent of the glass shattering would perhaps be the
nail bending, rather than snapping

DNS:
DNS is a protocol with some protocols for computers in exchanging data over the Internet. Its basic job
is to turn a user friendly domain name like google.com into an Internet Protocol (IP) address like
8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for IPv4 that computers use to identify each other on the network.Infact Google
Public DNS is largest DNS service in the world which handles more than 400 billion requests a day.
All the host devices on the internet use an identity which is called an IP Address to establish a
connection with site they are need. With the DNS service, we don t need to remember the whole
bunch of numbers stacked at each decimal point. We just use a DNS server or name server and access
the sites with specific names. And this DNS server ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
STEP 2 :
REQUEST THE DNS SERVERS:
Lets consider the latter case in Step 1, if the information is not stored in local devices, the computer
contacts the Internet Service Providers DNS Servers (in recent times, Recursive DNS Servers). These
computers perform the query on behalf of the user. All the DNS servers have their own caches, so the
query ends when the information is delivered to the user.
STEP 3:
ASK THE ROOT NAME SERVERS:
If the Recursive DNS servers are not able to send the response or they don t have the enough
information for the query, then the Root name servers come into the picture. A name server is a
computer that responds to queries about the Domain names. There are 13 Root Name servers . These
servers act as a bridge in directing the query to answerable resources if it doesn t have enough
information.
STEP 4:
TOP LEVEL DOMAIN:
The Root Name servers will direct the query to the Top Level Domain for the .com which have their
own nameserver set which makes a distinction for TLD. Same as the Root Name servers, they direct
to their servers which have the information.
STEP 5 :
The Top Level domain name servers direct the query specific namerservers. There are Authoritative
servers have the information in DNS records.

Relationship Between Cus ¬ Tomer Expectations And The...
INTRODUCTION
The customer satisfaction is the relationship between the cus¬tomer expectations and the product s

India will, in the process, take over from Indonesia and Vietnam as Bajaj s biggest two wheeler market
over the next five years. As for the bigger goal of 30 per cent share in its global business, Bajaj s
annual two wheeler volumes here would have to be in the region of 10 million units annually.
Observers believe this could become a reality by 2020. At present, over four million units are in place
from its three units in Manesar (the largest with 1.6 million), the recently commissioned Rajasthan

as reports are already doing the rounds that Bajaj is looking at options in the western and southern

Analysis Of Catcher In The Rye And The Secret Garden
What makes her coming of age narrative distinctive is that she does not set out as a naive or innocent
character. Instead, her entire life up until she arrives at Misselthwaite Manor has been a harsh reality: a
child abandoned and neglected by her mother as she is left under the care of servants, later losing
everything she has previously known due to an outbreak of cholera.
Narration
Despite the similarities between Catcher in the Rye and The Secret Garden, the narrators of the works
vastly differ. Holden Caulfield himself narrates his experiences leading up to the mental institution in
a colloquial first person. As a first person narrator, Holden s reliability has to be called into question.
Given that Holden is a narrator who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of alienating readers, it draws them even closer to Holden. Holden s voice and his coming of
age journey are inseparable. In contrast, the story of The Secret Garden is told through an opinionated
third person narrator. The narrator does not recount events passively, but instead inserts his or her own
voice and opinions such as how Mary was a tyrannical and selfish a little pig as ever lived into the
narrative (Burnett 1). In a sense, the narrator serves as a guide in Mary s venture into adolescence
during a period when Mary herself may not fully comprehend her transformation. To contextualize
this change, the narrator often turns to physical descriptions as opposed to mental ones. As the
children mature and develop, their appearance and vitality heal as they progressively begin to
resemble regular, healthy children. As mentioned by the narrator, [Colin] was coming alive with the
garden (Burnett 202). Despite the reliability of the narrator, Mary s personal growth is omitted from
the narrative and readers are left with only the physical development and dialogue between characters.
Consequently, the information given by the narrator is the sole insight readers have into Mary s state
and her psychological state is left for interpretation.
Role of Caretakers In addition, the role of the caretaker is significant in both coming of age

Classical Vs Hellenistic Era
A period marked with much change, Hellenistic Era began with the death of Alexander the Great in
323 BC. From political structures to individual ideologies, the Hellenistic Period marked a time of
progress and prosperity for the Greeks who were at the peak of their power. When comparing the
Classical and Hellenistic Periods there are many similarities and key differences which are going to be
discussed below. Following Alexander the Great s death, the Empire was carved up between his
generals, known as the Diadochi, who were levying for land and power. This period marks the
transformation from the introverted city states of the Classical Age to an open, cosmopolitan, and
lively culture that permeated the entire eastern Mediterranean ... Show more content on

Many thought that such monumental architecture would establish their place within the history books.
This fascination with gigantism was spurred in part by the size of the cities themselves, some of which
were in the hundreds of thousands, with required the extra space in order to accommodate more
individuals. Museums and libraries, such as the famous library in Alexandria, were constructed larger
than ever before in order to store texts and relics from bygone ages. These objects helped the
Hellenistic rulers assert themselves using imperial imagery to legitimize their claims to power. The
Hellenistic period, in part, remained similar to the Classical Period in several ways which include:
militaries, the treasuries and economies, and art along with the genre New Comedy which was
formed. With the switch in periods came many other changes including the elimination of polis in
favor of kingdoms and a strong sense of the

Through Deaf Eyes Review Essay
In Through Deaf Eyes you will find a range of perspective on the question what is deafness? This film
is a balanced presentation of deaf experience. I believe that the film does a good job of revealing the
struggles and triumphs of deaf people in society throughout history. The documentary covers a span of
close to 200 years of deaf life in the United States. You will see experiences among deaf people in
education, family life, work, and social activities. Sign language is language that uses visual hand
patterns to convey a meaning without using any vocal. It truly is a superb way of communication,
although it was not always accepted in society. Wherever communities of deaf people exist, sign
language develops. There was no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I wasn t expecting that. After viewing the movie I understand better now why even if some deaf
people can use their voices, they don t because it seems like it would lead to a one way conversation.
Although the hearing person would understand what the deaf person was conveying, the deaf person
would not be able to understand the hearing person without lip reading or using sign language. I
laughed at the part of the movie where the deaf comedian was talking about an incident that he had
while driving a car. A man was aggressively driving and beeping at the deaf man driving his car. When
this man passed the deaf man, he said, What are you deaf? The deaf man who spoke and signed telling
the story said he drove up to him and said, Yes, I am deaf! Although I laughed, it is offensive to the
deaf individuals using the word deaf in such a negative way. People who are hard of hearing are
people and should be esteemed as such. Deaf people living in a hearing world have certainly made
their mark in the hearing community. Deaf people can do anything that hearing people can do. The
band shown in the film called Beethoven s Nightmare caused quite a stir in our class. I think that we
were simply amazed that deaf musicians could play so well. By showing the audience this experience,
it provides hearing viewers with the knowledge that this type of event does occur within the deaf
community and that the deaf can appreciate

Vertigo Film Techniques Essay
Hitchcock makes use of a number of techniques in Vertigo and brings them together to make a film
that is considered to be one of his greatest masterpieces. Through the use of colour, lighting, camera
movement, dialogue and characterisation, Hitchcock produces a film that fascinates and intrigues us.
One of the key techniques, which Hitchcock makes, use of in Vertigo is the different use of colour. He
chooses certain colours due to their symbolic connotations and then uses them to contrast different
characters. He frequently uses green and red, for example when Scottie meets Madeleine for the first
time, the restaurant is decorated in red with the visitors wearing mainly dark clothing. Green is
quickly established as Madeleine s colour as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lighting used by Hitchcock also serves to portray Madeleine as a fantasy woman, using the
lighting to highlight her face. As Madeleine passes by Scottie in the restaurant she is bathed in a soft
light which makes her all the more noticeable against the backdrop of a dimly lit restaurant.
Furthermore, as she passes by him, she is shown in a full body shot in the center of the frame, which
Hitchcock uses to create an overwhelming sense of romance. Here, Madeleine is the desired object
clearly separated from her mundane surroundings. The viewer is aggressively confronted with
Madeleine s image and this allows us to be swept up in the romantic fantasy along with Scottie. The
lighting used in this scene actively draws the viewer to her features and ensures that all attention is on
her. The audience are enticed and seduced by her and this stretches to Scottie as well as we can see
that he is drawn to her and has to make an effort to be covert.
The scene begins with the camera moving towards a door made of radiant red glass. The camera then
moves to from Scottie s position at the bar. Scottie does not see Madeleine directly therefore the
camera does not directly occupy his point of view. Madeleine appears and pauses. She appears
through a doorway, which may suggest that there is something in her past that will reemerge. As she
exits, the mirror images signal give us a clue to what we will eventually discover that there are two

NW Singers And Chamber Choir Essay
NW Singers and Chamber Choir Concert Report For this assignment, I decided to attend the NW
Singers and Chamber Choir performance. The reason why I chose this option over the others is
because I ve always found organized vocal music to be very beautiful. Listening to music that uses
only the human voice is striking and has a certain personal feel to it. I also feel that I can relate more
to choir music, as I am in the choir at my church. This concert was directed by Ms. Susanne Spencer
VanDyke, accompanied by Dr. Saundra Bishop on the piano.
My favorite selection from the program was the one preformed last that night I Sing Because I m
Happy. I chose this as my favorite because of its upbeat happy feel. Its cheerful tune almost lead
people in the audience to start dancing.
The two musical elements from this selection that stood out to me the most were its dynamics and
tempo. The choir and piano would often employ softer and louder dynamics throughout the
performance. There were times when they would repeat the phrase I m so happy yes, softer, then
slowly increase into a much louder and more powerful repeat, giving it a sense of a buildup of joy.
Next is the tempo. It seems as though the tempo in this piece would sometimes change, moving from a
faster to slower rate to, again, most likely to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Vincent Van Gogh Essay example
Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch post impressionist painter, whose work represents the archetype of
expressionism, the idea of emotional spontaneity in painting. Van Gogh was born March 30, 1853, in
Groot Zundert, son of a Dutch Protestant pastor. Van Gogh s birth came one year to the day after his
mother gave birth to a first, stillborn child; also named Vincent. There has been much speculation
about Vincent van Gogh suffering later psychological trauma as a result of being a replacement child
and having a deceased brother with the same name and same birth date. Early in life, he displayed a
moody, restless character that was to spoil his every pursuit. This theory remains unproven, however,
and there is no actual historical evidence to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These early works evidence were dark and serious, sometimes crude. Unfortunately, this unselfish
desire would reach somewhat obsessive proportions when Vincent began to give away most of his
food and clothing to the poverty stricken people under his care. Despite Vincent s noble intentions,
representatives of the Church strongly disapproved of van Gogh s somberness and dismissed him from
his post in July. Refusing to leave the area, van Gogh moved to an adjacent village, Cuesmes, and
remained there in abject poverty. For the next year, Vincent struggled to live from day to day and,
though not able to help the village people in any official capacity as a clergyman, he nonetheless chose
to remain a member of their community. One day Vincent felt obligated to visit the home of Jules
Breton, a French painter he greatly admired, so with only ten francs in his pocket he walked the entire
70 kilometers to Courrières, France, to see Breton. After arriving, however, Vincent was too afraid to
knock and returned to Cuesmes absolutely discouraged.
All the years of hard work, of continually refining his technique and learning to work in new media,
all served as stepping stones toward the production of Vincent van Gogh s first great painting: Potato
Eaters (1885, Rijksmuseum Vincent van Gogh, Amsterdam). His experiences as a preacher are
reflected in this painting.

Friar Lawrence Is Responsible for the Deaths of Romeo and...
In the Shakespearean tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence was a monk, and a counselor, who
came up with intricate plots and concocted a seemingly magical elixir in order to solve problems that
the lovers encountered. Friar Lawrence had a profound impact on the outcome of this Shakespearean
play; however, in a way that led to catastrophe. There are many factors that caused the deaths of the
lovers, but two of the most important were how Friar Lawrence disregarded his own logic, and how he
missed numerous opportunities to save the lovers. First of all, Friar Lawrence explicitly knew better
than to do many of the things he did. First, he should not have agreed to marry Romeo and Juliet so
quickly. Romeo wanted to marry Juliet after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Had he done so, he could have informed Romeo that Juliet was alive, thus he could have prevented

come away... I ll dispose of thee among a sisterhood of nuns (V. iii. 154 157), and ran away. Had he
not been so hasty, he could have realized that the consequences of being caught trespassing are less
punitive than those of abandoning Juliet. In fact, Friar Lawrence knew that if he abandoned Juliet, she
likely would have committed suicide, because she threatened to so in the past ...And with this knife I ll
help it presently (IV. i. 54). Furthermore, he planned on solving the family feud with the marriage ...To
turn your household s rancour to pure love (II. iii. 92), but he did not make any arrangements to
inform Montague and Capulet that he married Romeo and Juliet; he simply disappeared. Had he
explained the situation to Montague and Capulet, at any time before the catastrophe, they would have
trusted the friar, a holy man who everyone respected, and they would have hopefully dissolved their
family feud. They did so in the end after the friar was forced to explain (V. iii). In brief, Friar
Lawrence should have been more proactive, and he should have stepped in at the right time. Friar
Lawrence meant well, but as an adult, he had to take responsibility for his actions. As an adult, he
should have thought things through, and he should have used any means necessary to

Summary Of Le Morte DArthur And Campbell s Mordred
Between Malory s Le Morte D Arthur and Campbell s Mordred: A Tragedy in Five Acts, people began
desiring more of a visually entertaining story with less stories being told in person and the emergence
of films which accounts for Campbell s version of the Arthurian story having a more physically evil
looking Mordred than the Mordred that Malory portrays. Campbell s version of the story also focuses
more on how Mordred is an illegitimate child while Malory focuses on Mordred being the son of King
Lot rather than of Arthur. The difference in parentage is because Malory lived during a time period
when the Christian religion was changing society with people s beliefs of what religion was changing
and the soon to be Protestant Reformation, so people would look down on a text that includes incest as
part of the main plot. Malory puts his focus on the actions that Mordred does and how he acts evil
towards others and those he hates. Campbell does not have Mordred commit as many evil deeds but
instead focuses on making Mordred seem inherently evil and grotesque. When Arthur is talking about
Mordred to Merlin in his disgust of his own illegitimate son he describes Mordred as, that that
blackness? to show his contempt for Mordred and how people view him (Campbell). Campbell further
has Mordred describe himself as dark, misshapen, and monstrous even though he has yet to commit
any true evil to give others any reason other than his appearance to see him as evil. Mordred even

The Importance of Government Infrastructural Investment...
How Important is Government Infrastructural Investment for Nuclear Power Generation?
Introduction
In an era when many industry analysts project peak oil will be reached by mid century or sooner,
identifying opportunities to promote alternative energy sources assumes new importance and
relevance. This paper provides a review of the relevant literature to determine the importance of
government infrastructural investment for nuclear power generation. The research will show that these
investments are widely regarded as essential because of the high costs of nuclear development and
power generation. A discussion concerning the form government involvement assumes in the form of
policy statements regarded nuclear power is followed by an assessment concerning whether detailed
regulation should be used for the approval of nuclear plant designs, operating practices, nuclear fuel
supply arrangements, sponsoring nuclear research development, and ownership control of enrichment
reprocessing facilities. Finally, an evaluation of what economic influences concerning nuclear
development views versus fossil fuel power generation is followed by a summary of the research and
important findings in the conclusion.
Review and Analysis Although governmental infrastructural investment in nuclear power generation
facilities has been traditionally considered vital, there are other types of governmental investments in
the industry, including policy statements. Governmental policymakers in the

My Personal Leadership Analysis
My definition of leadership is being someone who represents a group of people, or team. This person
takes charge of situations where a person is needed to represent the group or team. This person also
sets goals, a common vision, and represents the team in both good and bad situations. The person is
not afraid to own up to mistakes that the team has made, even if the leader may not have personally
made the mistake. Furthermore, the leader sets the example for the team to follow. Additionally, this
person shares their knowledge and experience and sets the example for others to follow. The final
point and one that I think ultimately creates a good working climate, is that the person genuinely cares
for the team and always has the best interest both personally and professionally. My values as a leader

Social Benefits Of Youth Sports
Research Findings on Social Benefits of Youth Sport * Playing informal, playercontrolled sports
provides young people with opportunities to organize group activities, resolve interpersonal conflicts,
solve problems, and sustain the consensus and cooperative relationships required to play competitive
games (Martinek Hellison, 1997). * Playing organized, adultcontrolled sports provides young people
with opportunities to participate in relationships with adult authority figures and engage in rule
governed teamwork in the pursuit of a shared goal. * Youth sports expand a young person s social
network when they are organized to facilitate meaningful interaction with teammates and opponents. *
Young people are less likely to engage in violence off the field when they participate in sport
programs that teach a philosophy of nonviolence, respect for self and others, the importance of fitness
and self control, confidence in physical skills, and a sense of responsibility to self and others. * When
young people participate in local, community sponsored youth sport, they are more likely to become
engaged in civic activities as adults. * Youth sport provides opportunities to meet adults who may
become helpful mentors and advocates in a young person s life. * Youth sport increases social
awareness and sensitivity when young people have opportunities to play with peers from different
social and cultural backgrounds and different levels of physical ability.

Homework Argumentative Essay
Homework, which has long been a battleground among teachers, parents, and students, is coming
under more scrutiny than ever as the divide grows between resistors and its proponents (Luke).
Homework has been a part of every student s life since 1905 and recently has become a topic that
people can not come to an agreement on. Students, teachers, and parents continually go back and forth
everyday regarding the type of and amount of homework students receive. Although some people
might think homework is beneficial, in fact, homework should be reduced because it can negatively
affect a student s health and development. Homework has been used for years because some people

in Rahtke). Teachers and people who are pro homework would argue that this is the main reason
students are assigned homework. Homework is continuously used by schools because of the potential
benefits it can offer students. Most of the time when people talk about benefits of homework they talk
about academic benefits, however there is also nonacademic benefits. When students are given
homework students must take it upon themselves to make sure they complete it. Through this they
learn an important tool that is necessary in life, time management. Cooper emphasizes that homework
can also lead to students improving their self direction, self discipline, and self organization. When
students take it upon themselves to get their work done they improve their independent problem
solving skills, which can help them both in school settings and out in the world. Homework helps
build students characters as well as improve their academic skills. Homework might appear to be
beneficial when studies show students who do homework do better academically, however, there is a
point at which homework has a negative effect on students. The purpose of homework is to reinforce
the learning that takes place in school or prepare children for forthcoming lessons, which in theory,
sounds ideal. But, research on homework has indicated otherwise. Apparently, too much is detrimental
to children (Rajoo). The excessive homework that kids are being assigned is not helping

Internal And External Conflicts In The Time Of The Doves
Mercè Rodoreda s immersive novel, The Time of the Doves, presents numerous realistic conflicts and
their effects on an ordinary citizen. Natalia, the protagonist, is challenged with several internal and
external conflicts that range from an inability to express herself to a war fueled famine. Rodoreda uses
personal experience, as well as knowledge of the typical female role during the Spanish Civil War to
add a personal outlook on the conflicts she presents. Natalia s internal conflicts are compelling, and
can be applied to a large portion of women, in the past and today. As for the external conflict, Natalia s
sufferings with the effects of war can be applied on a cultural level to most of Spain, during the Civil
war, and universally to any war struck country.
Throughout the novel Natalia is challenged with several internal conflicts, many of which originate
from external conflict with her husband, Quimet. Natalia is a meek, mild, young woman in the
beginning of the novel, It was hard for me to say no if someone asked me to do something (15).
Quimet juxtaposes Natalia s personality in almost every way, he is obsessive, possessive, and
controlling, ...and said if I wanted to be his wife I had to start liking everything he liked (22). Quimet
persuades her to marry him and leave her fiancé, Pere. He often challenges Natalia s confidence and
persuades her to do and agree to things she is uncomfortable with, creating internal conflicts for
Natalia s inability to protest or decline. For instance, Natalia does not want Quimet to build the
dovecote and raise the doves, but does not possess the adequate confidence to voice her opinion.
Natalia is generally unable to convey her feelings of rage and discontent to the other characters, she
often remarks on her difficulty to verbally express herself to the audience.
Many factors of Natalia s life also create external conflict, most prominently the famine caused by the
war, she struggles to keep her children fed and is plagued with guilt, I had two mouths to feed and
nothing to put in them. I can t describe how sad it was (134). Natalia is eventually forced to make
drastic decisions to try to spare her children, including sending her son, Antoni, to a children s

Canada Citizenship Guide Essay
The official history Which guide does a better job explaining wars in Canada to an immigrant?
Canada is one of many countries that offer a citizenship to its immigrants. It is very important for an
immigrant to know about the laws, history, rights etc when they are becoming a citizen of a country.
Canadian government under the leadership of Stephen Harper issued a citizenship guide for the
immigrants called Discover Canada. And there s another guide that was issued by the ARP Press
written and compiled by many historians. While Discover Canada is the official guide for citizenship
but many consider People s Citizenship guide to be better than the official version.

The total people involved, important military leaders etc. Not exactly an immigrant would be
interested in the fact, it can be searched in the internet. What it could have rather talked about was any
sort of involvement of the immigrants at that time. In fact citizenship guide succeeded as they talk
very less about the world wars too. There s no mention of how many soldiers participated in the wars
and how many casualties were there. The only thing it actually mentions is the how the Canadian
government treated the immigrants in case a war broke out. In World War I they violated the people s
rights. The Germans and Austro Hungarian Canadians were held in internment camps and the plight of
Japanese Canadians in the Second World War was pitiful. Even the birthright didn t help them as they
were deported from their own country. They were placed in internment and forced labour camps and
their lands and things were sold kind of same as it was done to the first nations people. They were sent
back to a country that they had never seen before and they never returned back to Canada which is
sad.
In my opinion, people s citizenship guide did a great job by not depicting the cruelty of war in Canada.
It just informs about the citizens about the important things that they need to know about the war. I
know I have completely favoured the citizenship guide but I guess logically immigrants don t really
need to know about the wars that much. If they are curious enough there are many articles on the
internet and brief history books in the

On a Christian Mission to the Top by Laurie Goodstein and David Kirkpatrick deals with the
controversial topic of religion, primarily the rise of evangelicals to the top of the social classes and
their influence. The essay opens with a description of the differing religious groups in Brown

of Christianity, the societal and political perspectives of America shifted to support Evangelism views.
Goodstein and Kirkpatrick examine the attempt to sway colleges to evangelist perspectives. While I

Imagine what it would be like to have just started your senior year of high school and be involved in

Women, the elderly, and diabetics sometimes feel more or less pain but often feel more fatigued,
weaker, and have trouble catching their breath (Wedro). There are several ways to test for heart
disease that range from simple to more complex. Upon visiting the doctor he/she may check a person s
heart rate, heartbeat, blood pressure, give them a physical exam, and/or run tests for more accurate
results. Heart rate is tested by checking the pulse and the purpose is to test the rhythm and regularity
of the heart, whereas listening to the heartbeat with a stethoscope allows the doctor to evaluate the
valve function (Bryg). Blood pressure is basically how hard the blood is pumped through the arteries
by the heart. It is measured in two parts and is written as a fraction; for example, 120/80 is considered
the normal reading. Systolic pressure, which is the pressure when the heart beats and is the higher
number in the fraction, is one measurement, and diastolic pressure, the pressure when the heart is
relaxed and is the lower number in the fraction, is the other measurement (Donatelle). Other forms of
checking for CVD are simply running a few tests. Among the most common tests that doctors use are

The French Revolution And The American Revolution
The French Revolution: The event that led to the transformation of the globe into the world we know
it as today. One of the most revolutionary events in human history was started by a group of
individuals sitting in the Palace of Versailles who decided that enough was enough and that the only
answer to the injustices of the ruling regime was Revolution. These people eventually became known
as the National Constituent Assembly, or, colloquially, the National Assembly. Over the course of two
years, this National Assembly sparked a revolution, established a new form of government in one of
the oldest European nations, and made a new society based on the principles created during the
Enlightenment. The National Assembly initially grew out of a national debt issue brought about by
French involvement in the Seven Years War and the American Revolution (SparkNotes Editors, 2005).
The amount of debt that France had built up due to these two wars, plus the debt racked up by
domestic spending and corruption, was so large that, according to Bentley and Ziegler, half of
government revenue went to the national debt (p. 627). This, in turn, caused King Louis XVI to call a
session of the Estates General, which is called to order during times of great tension and stress within
the country. The Estates General was essentially a legislature that was broken up into three equal
groups of representatives. These representatives represented the First Estate (clergy and members of

The Importance Of Ethnicity In Schools
Teaching students about their ethnicity or even others should be enforced by the Board of Education
directors in high schools. American School Boards should mandate a curriculum that provides
multicultural and ethnic studies programs for their students. This allows our American youth to have a
wider perspective on human interaction and historical events that lead to world we currently live in.
More specifically, in American history, it provides a foundational understanding of the numerous
ethnic backgrounds that help shape this country into a pillar of freedom for the world to see. America
was built by people from all over the globe and this historical fact is the primary reason our
educational programs should include an understanding of all the cultures that played a role in its
success.
As a child I gained limited knowledge about other ethnicities, including from my own through family
and small circles of friends. Now that I m in college I m embarrassed by the fact that I know so little
about my own ethnic background as well as others. It s one matter to not know much about other
ethnic groups, but to not know about my own makes me feel like I m letting myself down. Schools are
meant to teach kids things they will need to know for in the future such as math, reading, writing,
science, and history. So, if ethnic studies teaches kids race, ethnicity, nation, gender and sexuality, isn t
that something kids will need to know more about in the future. Leaning those concepts

Ethical Values From The Book The Dispossessed Written By...
What is ethics? It is a code of conduct that a human being lives by. Being ethical makes life a bit
easier and simpler because of the boundaries and code of conduct we set for our selves. Many authors
implement their own ethical values into their stories, which sometimes give the reader an insight into
the kind of person the author is. Making references to an article by Daniel P Jaeckle, I will be
analyzing the three ethical values from the book The Dispossessed written by Ursula K. LeGuin, that
have been layered together in a way that it creates interpersonal ethics, ethics of mutual aid, ethics of
shared pain, and ethics of the bond, designed to meet the needs of an anarchist society. Anarchism is a

Only weakness. (Ch. 7) In his article, Jaeckle hints that LeGuin borrowed this ethical value from the
work of a Russian anarchist Peter Kropotkin. It can be said that Shevek increases the variety of the
sociality to species way beyond human beings. He calls this so called species social species . The fact
that he does this is so important because it signifies that being social is not something that is
religiously necessary or related to someone s past. Being social or anti social can occur at any age
through out someone s life. From the above quote, Shevek s dialogue can be perceived as an
interpretation of Darwin s principle the survival of the fittest. Yes, it is somewhat true that people who
are social are the strongest and those who are anti social are weak, only because the social species
know how to get around people and the anti social ones are too afraid to speak to anyone else, hence
they sometimes get into trouble even if they didn t mean to. How does this relate to ethics? Well,
according to the quote above, a competitive society that focuses on domination rather than equality
will commit an unethical blunder. This blunder will lead to misunderstanding of the importance of the
forces that moves humanity and the other social species forward and to evolution. Where does mutual
aid come into play here? How is mutual aid connected to the social species? It is rather simple. Most
social species tend to live

The Work of Frida Kahlo Essay
The work of Frida Kahlo often labeled and defined as feminist art continues to describe and establish
what feminist art is. Wife of the well known and highly regarded Diego Rivera, Frida struggled to
become an artist in her own right. Her extremely passionate love for and devotion to her husband
manifested itself in an unusual manner in their already unconventional and unique marriage. However
it is partly this obsession with Diego that helped motivate her own success as a feminist artist. Her

She presents herself as proud, dignified, confident and as always, extremely desirable and irresistible.
Reserved, poised and confident, Frida demands immediate attention and respect from her audience as
she stands with purpose on a hardwood stage, curtains drawn held back by thick yet elegant rope. Her
peach colored skirt with elegant embroidered flowers and the saturated, deep red blouse peaking from
under an astonishing golden yellow shawl which drapes over the entire costume all indicate a
distinguished, colonial member of the bourgeois high society. The rich red and golden hues of her
clothing are complemented and emphasized by the palate of color Frida has chosen for her
background which resonates from a deep green to a golden sun like tone. She has replaced her usual
and typical exuberant and bright native dress with a more refined version of the characteristic long
skirt and jewelry to decorate herself. The aristocratic Frida reinforces her intended highly
distinguished image with the intricately woven red ribbon in her impetuously braided hair which is
further complemented by the purple flower carefully tucked into her braid. The hair with the ribbon
and flower is indicative of indigenous heritage and culture, neither which ever to be excluded or

3d Printer Research Paper
Throughout the known history of the world, humans and technology have progressed side by side.
Many believe technology prolongs human challenges and development in the twenty first century
because of the way it distracts people from daily life activities. Though it has been questioned of
value, the inclusion of new technology challenges what humans can do through innovative ideas like
the computer and cell phones and other devices such as 3D printers. One way new technology has
challenged human capability was the invention of computers. Before the computer became available,

Though these are still overall problems, the pros of cell phones outweigh the cons. Cell phones have
pushed human and technological capabilities to a new era, one that is taking the world by storm. More
possibilities have opened up to human and technological development with the use of 3D printers. In
the early 2010s, 3D printing has taken medical branches, manufacture industries, and universities by
storm. During my trip to The University of Chapel Hill, the student guides mentioned sixty percent of
their students do research, many involving a 3D printer located on campus. One boy was given a
prosthetic hand from a student who 3D printed it for research. 3D printers might be used by scientists
for organ transplants in the future. Currently, many scientists are using the cells of a patient to grow
new organs to be later used for organ transplant patients. This would not only revolutionize the
medical field, but it would dissolve the donor crisis going on in hospitals. 3D printers are not only
being used for research but for fun things as well. A boy at my school uses a 3D printer he made

How Do We Define Environmental Psychology
To define environmental psychology, one must do so by considering the following four key features:
interactive approach; interdisciplinary and international; problem focused, applied field; and diversity
of methods (Steg et. al., 2013, p. 5 6). To sum, interactive behavior is best understood by me as one s
interactions with nature and the effect nature ends up having on one after engagement has occurred.
As a child, I grew up in Jackson County Forest in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. As well, with an
indigenous and sustainable upbringing, I was more prone to participate in all aspects of my life with a
holistic and reverent attitude. As it is explained in the textbook, the environment molded my past and
current ongoing attitude and beliefs towards the environment. I am aware this is significant to note as
those who are not brought up in such environments, as raw as the forests I grew up in, have a
relationship with nature that is to be considered an ongoing work in progress. However, I must add the
environment has changed for better and worse and has affected my outlook towards the future of
places like Jackson County Forest. For instance, the environment is now considered more of a
nuisance because of the amount of drugs that can be hidden, grown, and dealt bordering many cities
and reservations. This juxtaposes the initial behavior and reverence I once had as a child and as an
adolescent, who saw the forest as a place to partake in ceremonial practices with tribal

The Causes And Effects Of Stereotypes On Women
Stereotypes are seen everywhere people go. They have affected women since the dawn of time. The
ones held for women affect them in every possible way . All the little stereotypes that women have
add up creating big effects on women s day to day life. Their is no way around it especially in the
workforce. The impact of stereotypes starts at a young age and these impacts stick with them fro the
rest of their life. The cause of the impacts determines their career.
The effects of stereotypes that women face in society start very early in their childhood. The media
plays a big role in this. Miribel Tran the author of an article called The Effect of Social Media in
Young Girls talks about how every time a girl opens a magazine, turn on the television or goes on any
form of social media there is always a model on there that has been photoshopped to look smaller than
she already does. There is always a new product out there to make them look better or more attractive
. This makes girls feel like they have to look this way and if they do not they will not be noticed or
looked at in a positive way. This causes most little girls to go into depression. Depression leads the
little girls getting obese. The obesity makes them feel more worse about them because they think they
are even further away from looking like the women they see on social media. This just makes it even
more bad because this leads to grades falling in school (Tran ). The falling of their grades affects them
in the future because if their grades fall they feel dumb. This makes them think that they will not get
into a good college because they feel they are not smart enough for it. This stops girls from pursuing
their dreams and affect the type of job they get in the future.
The stereotype that men hold the character trait of brilliance and women do not is another big one that
affects little girls. It affects most girls at the age of six. In theguardian Nicola Davis talks about a
research done by three US Universities about how this stereotype affects girls. They did a research on
400 kids between the ages of five and seven half of them were girls the other half were boys. Out of
the 400 kids 96 girls and boys of all three ages were shown

Not Available In Physical Format As of the moment, The Amazing Stockpiling Challenge is available
only as a digital product. Dan F. Sullivan says this allows him to lower the price of the guide and help
would be preppers to get immediate access to it at the same time. With that in mind, it may be
disappointing for some people who don t like digital products to find that purchasing a hard copy
edition of the guide is not an option yet.... Our Conclusions Overall, we believe The Amazing
Stockpiling Challenge is worth checking out. It s more for beginners, but semi seasoned preppers
could still get valuable information from this guide and the bonus reports that come with it. One of the
best things about the Amazing Stockpiling Challenge is that it s an easy read, which is good news for
those who don t like to read books, and everything you need to know to prepare for a crisis is already
in the eBook. We also liked that it s full of useful tips and methods that you can implement right away
and there are no filler content, difficult words or unreasonable demands inside. All you really have to

The Future Of Robot Caregivers Louise Aronson
In my opinion, we should embrace and welcome robots into our daily lives because they improve our
society in various ways. Some of the ways our society has benefited from the creation of robots
include transportation, home maintenance, home assistance, education, security, entertainment,
disabled assisted living, and even elderly assisted living. In the article The Future of Robot
Caregivers, the author, Louise Aronson, states that the idea of robot caregivers shouldn t be as
threatening as most people perceive. She also states that our society as whole, not just the elderly, will
benefit greatly in many aspects. For example, Aronson begins by mentioning that caregiving is a
difficult job and that it is work that many people either can t or

Cisco Case Study Essay
CASE QUESTIONS – CISCO 1a. How did Cisco find itself in trouble with regard to its intended IT
prior to Brad Boston s arrival? Prior to his arrival, CISCO had a decentralized approach to IT
spending. Independent business groups were making decisions in fuctional silos. Each group their own
funds for IT, therefore, redundant applications such as CRM systems were created. This was a global
issue as well as a localized issue. The Cisco philosophy regarding IT was simple: As long as someone
was willing to pay for it, the IT department would work on whatever process/project specified. This is
not only a waste of money, but it also creates problems when trying to work across teams. If two
teams use two different processes to come ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1993, when Peter Solvik took over as CIO of Cisco, he reallocated the IT budget to each individual
department. He also took the power away from an IT steering committee and gave it to departments.
This gave each department the ability to function independent of each other. There was no need for
them to communicate with other departments in order to achieve similar objectives and goals. 2a.
What is BPOC s role? The BPOC s role is to get together biweekly to review and prioritize key
initiatives that impact the company as a whole. BPOC would categorize each initiative and then make
recommendations for the different projects. b. How much formal authority does it have? While they
demonstrated no formal authority; the recommendations carried a great deal of weight. These are
senior executives and they do have a vast knowledge of what is needed for the company to continue to
be successful. c. How much IT funding does it control? It does not control funding for any initiatives,
it merely has strong influence and promotes its recommendations. 3a. Would you approve the call
center project, including the rationale for your recommendation? We would approve the call center
project. The call center pilot was already successful in the European market and is ready to be
deployed throughout the entire company. It would create a more efficient process for both internal and

The Influence Of Drug Use And Abuse
Over the course of the last twenty years, drug usage has changed rather dramatically. From the kinds
of drugs used to their potencies to how much is used, there are multiple factors to observe. Some
drugs that didn t even exist or were almost unheard of that long ago are some of the most abused today
and are growing in popularity. In this essay I will be analyzing how people use drugs differently today
than they did 20 years ago, in 1997, as opposed to how it is used today in 2017. In addition to this, we
will be looking at how this change is affecting society and whether or not we re better off than we
were in the late 1990s. To begin, Let s observe drug usage and abuse in 1997. At this time in the U.S,
communities and society had begun ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another newer drug and very dangerous drug to gain popularity is synthesized marijuana. Despite all
of this, many some drug usage and abuse hass decreased since 1997. Cocaine use is one of the few
that has gone down considerably, along with alcohol abuse some. Thanks to several anti tobacco
campaigns and similar agendas, tobacco use amongst Americans is declining by quite a bit, and even
more rapidly with teens. To conclude, in 2017 thanks to the efforts of government sponsored
campaigns tobacco and alcohol abuse has decreased dramatically since the 1990s, however newer and
more powerful drugs like methamphetamine and synthesized marijuana have gained in popularity over
the course of 20 years, and other drugs including opioids and heroin the like have grown to become
the most dangerous and most used today. Now we will observe the change in drug abuse from a direct
source. When asked if drugs use has increased or decreased since 1997, both of my subjects agreed it
had increased. When I asked what drugs in particular were more popular, the interviewed went along
with the research and said meth, as well as opioids like heroin. In addition to this, both participants
agreed drugs are more dangerous now more than ever. In particular, one participant said heroin was
the most dangerous drug right now, while the other said heroin and synthetic marijuana. To conclude,

  • 2. Analysis Of Galileo s Dialogues In Galileo s Dialogues Concerning Two New Sciences, the discussion is broken up into multiple days. In the First Day, Galileo, through the dialogue between Simplicio, Sagredo, and Salviati, discusses and exemplifies various topics. They begin by considering scale in mechanics, and then later, infinity, void, and end the day by discussing pendulums and the vibrations of strings. These topics are ultimately main ideas of the text, and are explored through dialogue and proposed practicals. However, the form of the text itself is of as much interest as the subjects, namely the purposes of the dialogue format, the three characters, and whether the form lends or detracts from the general understanding of the text. As a whole, the First Day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ultimately, a weight is to be attached to the wire, so that is pulls down in an attempt to pull the top of the wooden cylinder within the glass cylinder away from the water within it (pgs. 14 15). He concludes that, if the wooden cylinder does not separate from the water, it is because of the force of nature rejecting the creation of a vacuum, and if the glass breaks after adding more weight, then the vacuum only accounts for a part of the resistance. Sagredo claims to reach clarity after the explanation of this experiment, and then compares it to how water will only move up a cylinder to a height of eighteen cubits before it will travel no more. However, it is difficult to see how this experiment explains how a nail of greater size can have a greater strength than that of a smaller size. It is required to make the logical jump that the individual pieces that make up an iron nail act with each other in the same way that water does. As water does not want to separate from itself in the space of the cylinder as described in the above experiment, a nail does not want to separate from itself, even if there is a great weight pulling on it. In the experiment, if too great a weight was applied, the glass broke, in the case of the nail, one can only assume that the equivalent of the glass shattering would perhaps be the nail bending, rather than snapping ... STEP 2 : REQUEST THE DNS SERVERS: Lets consider the latter case in Step 1, if the information is not stored in local devices, the computer contacts the Internet Service Providers DNS Servers (in recent times, Recursive DNS Servers). STEP 3: ASK THE ROOT NAME SERVERS: If the Recursive DNS servers are not able to send the response or they don t have the enough information for the query, then the Root name servers come into the picture. A name server is a computer that responds to queries about the Domain names. There are 13 Root Name servers . • 5. Analysis Of Catcher In The Rye And The Secret Garden What makes her coming of age narrative distinctive is that she does not set out as a naive or innocent character. Instead, her entire life up until she arrives at Misselthwaite Manor has been a harsh reality: a child abandoned and neglected by her mother as she is left under the care of servants, later losing everything she has previously known due to an outbreak of cholera. Narration Despite the similarities between Catcher in the Rye and The Secret Garden, the narrators of the works vastly differ. Holden Caulfield himself narrates his experiences leading up to the mental institution in a colloquial first person. As a first person narrator, Holden s reliability has to be called into question. Given that Holden is a narrator who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of alienating readers, it draws them even closer to Holden. Holden s voice and his coming of age journey are inseparable. In contrast, the story of The Secret Garden is told through an opinionated third person narrator. The narrator does not recount events passively, but instead inserts his or her own voice and opinions such as how Mary was a tyrannical and selfish a little pig as ever lived into the narrative (Burnett 1). In a sense, the narrator serves as a guide in Mary s venture into adolescence during a period when Mary herself may not fully comprehend her transformation. To contextualize this change, the narrator often turns to physical descriptions as opposed to mental ones. As the children mature and develop, their appearance and vitality heal as they progressively begin to resemble regular, healthy children. As mentioned by the narrator, [Colin] was coming alive with the garden (Burnett 202). Despite the reliability of the narrator, Mary s personal growth is omitted from the narrative and readers are left with only the physical development and dialogue between characters. From political structures to individual ideologies, the Hellenistic Period marked a time of progress and prosperity for the Greeks who were at the peak of their power. When comparing the Classical and Hellenistic Periods there are many similarities and key differences which are going to be discussed below. Following Alexander the Great s death, the Empire was carved up between his generals, known as the Diadochi, who were levying for land and power. This period marks the transformation from the introverted city states of the Classical Age to an open, cosmopolitan, and lively culture that permeated the entire eastern Mediterranean ... This fascination with gigantism was spurred in part by the size of the cities themselves, some of which were in the hundreds of thousands, with required the extra space in order to accommodate more individuals. Museums and libraries, such as the famous library in Alexandria, were constructed larger than ever before in order to store texts and relics from bygone ages. These objects helped the Hellenistic rulers assert themselves using imperial imagery to legitimize their claims to power. The Hellenistic period, in part, remained similar to the Classical Period in several ways which include: militaries, the treasuries and economies, and art along with the genre New Comedy which was formed. I believe that the film does a good job of revealing the struggles and triumphs of deaf people in society throughout history. The documentary covers a span of close to 200 years of deaf life in the United States. You will see experiences among deaf people in education, family life, work, and social activities. After viewing the movie I understand better now why even if some deaf people can use their voices, they don t because it seems like it would lead to a one way conversation. Although the hearing person would understand what the deaf person was conveying, the deaf person would not be able to understand the hearing person without lip reading or using sign language. I laughed at the part of the movie where the deaf comedian was talking about an incident that he had while driving a car. A man was aggressively driving and beeping at the deaf man driving his car. When this man passed the deaf man, he said, What are you deaf? The deaf man who spoke and signed telling the story said he drove up to him and said, Yes, I am deaf! Although I laughed, it is offensive to the deaf individuals using the word deaf in such a negative way. People who are hard of hearing are people and should be esteemed as such. Deaf people living in a hearing world have certainly made their mark in the hearing community. Deaf people can do anything that hearing people can do. • 13. Vertigo Film Techniques Essay Hitchcock makes use of a number of techniques in Vertigo and brings them together to make a film that is considered to be one of his greatest masterpieces. Through the use of colour, lighting, camera movement, dialogue and characterisation, Hitchcock produces a film that fascinates and intrigues us. One of the key techniques, which Hitchcock makes, use of in Vertigo is the different use of colour. He chooses certain colours due to their symbolic connotations and then uses them to contrast different characters. He frequently uses green and red, for example when Scottie meets Madeleine for the first time, the restaurant is decorated in red with the visitors wearing mainly dark clothing. The lighting used by Hitchcock also serves to portray Madeleine as a fantasy woman, using the lighting to highlight her face. As Madeleine passes by Scottie in the restaurant she is bathed in a soft light which makes her all the more noticeable against the backdrop of a dimly lit restaurant. Furthermore, as she passes by him, she is shown in a full body shot in the center of the frame, which Hitchcock uses to create an overwhelming sense of romance. Here, Madeleine is the desired object clearly separated from her mundane surroundings. The viewer is aggressively confronted with Madeleine s image and this allows us to be swept up in the romantic fantasy along with Scottie. The lighting used in this scene actively draws the viewer to her features and ensures that all attention is on her. The audience are enticed and seduced by her and this stretches to Scottie as well as we can see that he is drawn to her and has to make an effort to be covert. The scene begins with the camera moving towards a door made of radiant red glass. The camera then moves to from Scottie s position at the bar. Scottie does not see Madeleine directly therefore the camera does not directly occupy his point of view. Madeleine appears and pauses. The reason why I chose this option over the others is because I ve always found organized vocal music to be very beautiful. Listening to music that uses only the human voice is striking and has a certain personal feel to it. I also feel that I can relate more to choir music, as I am in the choir at my church. This concert was directed by Ms. Susanne Spencer VanDyke, accompanied by Dr. Saundra Bishop on the piano. My favorite selection from the program was the one preformed last that night I Sing Because I m Happy. I chose this as my favorite because of its upbeat happy feel. Its cheerful tune almost lead people in the audience to start dancing. The two musical elements from this selection that stood out to me the most were its dynamics and tempo. The choir and piano would often employ softer and louder dynamics throughout the performance. There were times when they would repeat the phrase I m so happy yes, softer, then slowly increase into a much louder and more powerful repeat, giving it a sense of a buildup of joy. • 15. Vincent Van Gogh Essay example Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch post impressionist painter, whose work represents the archetype of expressionism, the idea of emotional spontaneity in painting. Van Gogh was born March 30, 1853, in Groot Zundert, son of a Dutch Protestant pastor. Van Gogh s birth came one year to the day after his mother gave birth to a first, stillborn child; also named Vincent. There has been much speculation about Vincent van Gogh suffering later psychological trauma as a result of being a replacement child and having a deceased brother with the same name and same birth date. Unfortunately, this unselfish desire would reach somewhat obsessive proportions when Vincent began to give away most of his food and clothing to the poverty stricken people under his care. Despite Vincent s noble intentions, representatives of the Church strongly disapproved of van Gogh s somberness and dismissed him from his post in July. Refusing to leave the area, van Gogh moved to an adjacent village, Cuesmes, and remained there in abject poverty. For the next year, Vincent struggled to live from day to day and, though not able to help the village people in any official capacity as a clergyman, he nonetheless chose to remain a member of their community. One day Vincent felt obligated to visit the home of Jules Breton, a French painter he greatly admired, so with only ten francs in his pocket he walked the entire 70 kilometers to Courrières, France, to see Breton. After arriving, however, Vincent was too afraid to knock and returned to Cuesmes absolutely discouraged. All the years of hard work, of continually refining his technique and learning to work in new media, all served as stepping stones toward the production of Vincent van Gogh s first great painting: Potato Eaters (1885, Rijksmuseum Vincent van Gogh, Amsterdam). His experiences as a preacher are reflected in this painting. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the Shakespearean tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence was a monk, and a counselor, who came up with intricate plots and concocted a seemingly magical elixir in order to solve problems that the lovers encountered. Friar Lawrence had a profound impact on the outcome of this Shakespearean play; however, in a way that led to catastrophe. There are many factors that caused the deaths of the lovers, but two of the most important were how Friar Lawrence disregarded his own logic, and how he missed numerous opportunities to save the lovers. Summary Of Le Morte DArthur And Campbell s Mordred Between Malory s Le Morte D Arthur and Campbell s Mordred: A Tragedy in Five Acts, people began desiring more of a visually entertaining story with less stories being told in person and the emergence of films which accounts for Campbell s version of the Arthurian story having a more physically evil looking Mordred than the Mordred that Malory portrays. Campbell s version of the story also focuses more on how Mordred is an illegitimate child while Malory focuses on Mordred being the son of King Lot rather than of Arthur. The difference in parentage is because Malory lived during a time period when the Christian religion was changing society with people s beliefs of what religion was changing and the soon to be Protestant Reformation, so people would look down on a text that includes incest as part of the main plot. Malory puts his focus on the actions that Mordred does and how he acts evil towards others and those he hates. Campbell does not have Mordred commit as many evil deeds but instead focuses on making Mordred seem inherently evil and grotesque. When Arthur is talking about Mordred to Merlin in his disgust of his own illegitimate son he describes Mordred as, that that blackness? to show his contempt for Mordred and how people view him (Campbell). Campbell further has Mordred describe himself as dark, misshapen, and monstrous even though he has yet to commit any true evil to give others any reason other than his appearance to see him as evil. Internal And External Conflicts In The Time Of The Doves Mercè Rodoreda s immersive novel, The Time of the Doves, presents numerous realistic conflicts and their effects on an ordinary citizen. Natalia, the protagonist, is challenged with several internal and external conflicts that range from an inability to express herself to a war fueled famine. Rodoreda uses personal experience, as well as knowledge of the typical female role during the Spanish Civil War to add a personal outlook on the conflicts she presents. Natalia s internal conflicts are compelling, and can be applied to a large portion of women, in the past and today. As for the external conflict, Natalia s sufferings with the effects of war can be applied on a cultural level to most of Spain, during the Civil war, and universally to any war struck country. Throughout the novel Natalia is challenged with several internal conflicts, many of which originate from external conflict with her husband, Quimet. Natalia is a meek, mild, young woman in the beginning of the novel, It was hard for me to say no if someone asked me to do something (15). Quimet juxtaposes Natalia s personality in almost every way, he is obsessive, possessive, and controlling, ...and said if I wanted to be his wife I had to start liking everything he liked (22). Quimet persuades her to marry him and leave her fiancé, Pere. He often challenges Natalia s confidence and persuades her to do and agree to things she is uncomfortable with, creating internal conflicts for Natalia s inability to protest or decline. For instance, Natalia does not want Quimet to build the dovecote and raise the doves, but does not possess the adequate confidence to voice her opinion. Natalia is generally unable to convey her feelings of rage and discontent to the other characters, she often remarks on her difficulty to verbally express herself to the audience. Many factors of Natalia s life also create external conflict, most prominently the famine caused by the war, she struggles to keep her children fed and is plagued with guilt, I had two mouths to feed and nothing to put in them. There s no mention of how many soldiers participated in the wars and how many casualties were there. The only thing it actually mentions is the how the Canadian government treated the immigrants in case a war broke out. In World War I they violated the people s rights. The Germans and Austro Hungarian Canadians were held in internment camps and the plight of Japanese Canadians in the Second World War was pitiful. • 28. The French Revolution And The American Revolution The French Revolution: The event that led to the transformation of the globe into the world we know it as today. One of the most revolutionary events in human history was started by a group of individuals sitting in the Palace of Versailles who decided that enough was enough and that the only answer to the injustices of the ruling regime was Revolution. These people eventually became known as the National Constituent Assembly, or, colloquially, the National Assembly. Over the course of two years, this National Assembly sparked a revolution, established a new form of government in one of the oldest European nations, and made a new society based on the principles created during the Enlightenment. The National Assembly initially grew out of a national debt issue brought about by French involvement in the Seven Years War and the American Revolution (SparkNotes Editors, 2005). The amount of debt that France had built up due to these two wars, plus the debt racked up by domestic spending and corruption, was so large that, according to Bentley and Ziegler, half of government revenue went to the national debt (p. 627). This, in turn, caused King Louis XVI to call a session of the Estates General, which is called to order during times of great tension and stress within the country. The Estates General was essentially a legislature that was broken up into three equal groups of representatives. These representatives represented the First Estate (clergy and members of the ... • 30. The Importance Of Ethnicity In Schools Teaching students about their ethnicity or even others should be enforced by the Board of Education directors in high schools. American School Boards should mandate a curriculum that provides multicultural and ethnic studies programs for their students. This allows our American youth to have a wider perspective on human interaction and historical events that lead to world we currently live in. More specifically, in American history, it provides a foundational understanding of the numerous ethnic backgrounds that help shape this country into a pillar of freedom for the world to see. America was built by people from all over the globe and this historical fact is the primary reason our educational programs should include an understanding of all the cultures that played a role in its success. As a child I gained limited knowledge about other ethnicities, including from my own through family and small circles of friends. Now that I m in college I m embarrassed by the fact that I know so little about my own ethnic background as well as others. It s one matter to not know much about other ethnic groups, but to not know about my own makes me feel like I m letting myself down. Schools are meant to teach kids things they will need to know for in the future such as math, reading, writing, science, and history. So, if ethnic studies teaches kids race, ethnicity, nation, gender and sexuality, isn t that something kids will need to know more about in the future. Leaning those concepts ... • 32. Ethical Values From The Book The Dispossessed Written By... What is ethics? It is a code of conduct that a human being lives by. Being ethical makes life a bit easier and simpler because of the boundaries and code of conduct we set for our selves. Many authors implement their own ethical values into their stories, which sometimes give the reader an insight into the kind of person the author is. Making references to an article by Daniel P Jaeckle, I will be analyzing the three ethical values from the book The Dispossessed written by Ursula K. LeGuin, that have been layered together in a way that it creates interpersonal ethics, ethics of mutual aid, ethics of shared pain, and ethics of the bond, designed to meet the needs of an anarchist society. Anarchism is a philosophy based on voluntary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Only weakness. (Ch. 7) In his article, Jaeckle hints that LeGuin borrowed this ethical value from the work of a Russian anarchist Peter Kropotkin. It can be said that Shevek increases the variety of the sociality to species way beyond human beings. He calls this so called species social species . The fact that he does this is so important because it signifies that being social is not something that is religiously necessary or related to someone s past. Being social or anti social can occur at any age through out someone s life. From the above quote, Shevek s dialogue can be perceived as an interpretation of Darwin s principle the survival of the fittest. Yes, it is somewhat true that people who are social are the strongest and those who are anti social are weak, only because the social species know how to get around people and the anti social ones are too afraid to speak to anyone else, hence they sometimes get into trouble even if they didn t mean to. How does this relate to ethics? Well, according to the quote above, a competitive society that focuses on domination rather than equality will commit an unethical blunder. This blunder will lead to misunderstanding of the importance of the forces that moves humanity and the other social species forward and to evolution. Where does mutual aid come into play here? How is mutual aid connected to the social species? It is rather simple. Most social species tend to live ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wife of the well known and highly regarded Diego Rivera, Frida struggled to become an artist in her own right. However it is partly this obsession with Diego that helped motivate her own success as a feminist artist. How Do We Define Environmental Psychology To define environmental psychology, one must do so by considering the following four key features: interactive approach; interdisciplinary and international; problem focused, applied field; and diversity of methods (Steg et. al., 2013, p. 5 6). To sum, interactive behavior is best understood by me as one s interactions with nature and the effect nature ends up having on one after engagement has occurred. As a child, I grew up in Jackson County Forest in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. As well, with an indigenous and sustainable upbringing, I was more prone to participate in all aspects of my life with a holistic and reverent attitude. As it is explained in the textbook, the environment molded my past and current ongoing attitude and beliefs towards the environment. I am aware this is significant to note as those who are not brought up in such environments, as raw as the forests I grew up in, have a relationship with nature that is to be considered an ongoing work in progress. However, I must add the environment has changed for better and worse and has affected my outlook towards the future of places like Jackson County Forest. For instance, the environment is now considered more of a nuisance because of the amount of drugs that can be hidden, grown, and dealt bordering many cities and reservations. This juxtaposes the initial behavior and reverence I once had as a child and as an adolescent, who saw the forest as a place to partake in ceremonial practices with tribal ... • 40. The Causes And Effects Of Stereotypes On Women Stereotypes are seen everywhere people go. They have affected women since the dawn of time. The ones held for women affect them in every possible way . All the little stereotypes that women have add up creating big effects on women s day to day life. Their is no way around it especially in the workforce. The impact of stereotypes starts at a young age and these impacts stick with them fro the rest of their life. The cause of the impacts determines their career. The effects of stereotypes that women face in society start very early in their childhood. The media plays a big role in this. Miribel Tran the author of an article called The Effect of Social Media in Young Girls talks about how every time a girl opens a magazine, turn on the television or goes on any form of social media there is always a model on there that has been photoshopped to look smaller than she already does. There is always a new product out there to make them look better or more attractive . This makes girls feel like they have to look this way and if they do not they will not be noticed or looked at in a positive way. This causes most little girls to go into depression. Depression leads the little girls getting obese. The obesity makes them feel more worse about them because they think they are even further away from looking like the women they see on social media. This just makes it even more bad because this leads to grades falling in school (Tran ). The falling of their grades affects them in the future because if their grades fall they feel dumb. This makes them think that they will not get into a good college because they feel they are not smart enough for it. This stops girls from pursuing their dreams and affect the type of job they get in the future. The stereotype that men hold the character trait of brilliance and women do not is another big one that affects little girls. It affects most girls at the age of six. In theguardian Nicola Davis talks about a research done by three US Universities about how this stereotype affects girls. They did a research on 400 kids between the ages of five and seven half of them were girls the other half were boys. Out of the 400 kids 96 girls and boys of all three ages were shown ...
