might distribute your media
product and why?

Why Distribution is Vital
You could create the world's most amazing product and if it were not distributed well
or correctly then you would have no success, depending on the target audience size
you will distribute in different way but as long as you distribute in some way then
there is a chance for success.
Another important factor of distribution is considering which media institution will
distribute your product, their reasons for distributing it and how they intend to
distribute it.
Target Audience
When creating your product you should have had a good idea of your target audience,
this idea now needs to be refined so that you know exactly who you’re distributing to
and you can adjust your product for their needs.
Once you have done this you can now make a better choice of media institution for
distribution as different institutions are targeted at different age, social, gender and
genre audiences.
Refining your Audience
Once you have established you general audience you need to find out all you can
about them so that you can adjust your magazine to suit their needs. Knowing all you
can about an audience will help draw them in as if the content is something that they
want to know about they will buy your product. Even the advertisements are very
important as if you're advertising a product they like and may want to buy it isn’t off
putting as adverts can be, for example you wouldn’t advertise children's toys in a
magazine like Kerrang as no children would be reading that. Finding out the age and
how they feel about technology is also very important for distribution as if you have a
young audience then you may want to distribute on a platform that applies to them
like on a website or possibly an app.
Prometheus Global Media
I would choose Prometheus GM as they are one of the only distributors of magazines
that print content about country music in the UK. Their best known client is Billboard
which covers a large range of genres including on occasion country. They are very
experienced and have a good knowledge of the industry already, they’re reliable, know
how to distribute to certain audiences and already have large success in previous
clientele.
Distribution
I would keep my magazine mainly on paper as from my audience research and reader
profile I found that that was what was prefered. However I would also offer a digital
version available as an App, 59% of country listeners are on Twitter which suggests
that most of those are on smartphones and offering my magazine on this platform
would allow my audience to have a more portable version that also saves money as
there is no cost of the ink and paper as it's all on the app.

  • 1. What kind of Media Institution might distribute your media product and why? Caleb Roberts
  • 2. Why Distribution is Vital You could create the world's most amazing product and if it were not distributed well or correctly then you would have no success, depending on the target audience size you will distribute in different way but as long as you distribute in some way then there is a chance for success. Another important factor of distribution is considering which media institution will distribute your product, their reasons for distributing it and how they intend to distribute it.
  • 3. Target Audience When creating your product you should have had a good idea of your target audience, this idea now needs to be refined so that you know exactly who you’re distributing to and you can adjust your product for their needs. Once you have done this you can now make a better choice of media institution for distribution as different institutions are targeted at different age, social, gender and genre audiences.
  • 4. Refining your Audience Once you have established you general audience you need to find out all you can about them so that you can adjust your magazine to suit their needs. Knowing all you can about an audience will help draw them in as if the content is something that they want to know about they will buy your product. Even the advertisements are very important as if you're advertising a product they like and may want to buy it isn’t off putting as adverts can be, for example you wouldn’t advertise children's toys in a magazine like Kerrang as no children would be reading that. Finding out the age and how they feel about technology is also very important for distribution as if you have a young audience then you may want to distribute on a platform that applies to them like on a website or possibly an app.
  • 5. Prometheus Global Media I would choose Prometheus GM as they are one of the only distributors of magazines that print content about country music in the UK. Their best known client is Billboard which covers a large range of genres including on occasion country. They are very experienced and have a good knowledge of the industry already, they’re reliable, know how to distribute to certain audiences and already have large success in previous clientele.
  • 6. Distribution I would keep my magazine mainly on paper as from my audience research and reader profile I found that that was what was prefered. However I would also offer a digital version available as an App, 59% of country listeners are on Twitter which suggests that most of those are on smartphones and offering my magazine on this platform would allow my audience to have a more portable version that also saves money as there is no cost of the ink and paper as it's all on the app.
