Media Marketing
Old Media
The old media system of marketing consists of the media
industries pushing their audience into watching their
movie. This is particularly a forceful technique and could
make the audience feel pressured. They would also use
trailers as much as possible to hook and sell the audience
by showing their best bits. Although the media industries
may think that professional opinions and celebrity
endorsements help them this is not the case as it is not
valued and the public will relate more to opinion of another
“normal” person. Written advertisements are often ignored
as there is no way for the audience to interact with it in
any way. Email has a low popularity as communication
across email isn’t used, social networking being the
preferred method.
New Media
Whereas the new media system is much more efficient
and is incredibly successful. The media industries would
pull in an audience by releasing a sample of the film much
like universal did by releasing a 20 minute sample of the
new batman film online. It would then need proof from
customer reviews and reactions from the public as their
opinion is more valued and trusted, feedback videos are
also effective. Word of mouth is the most effective way of
marketing their films. Media industries would target social
networking sites to post video ads of the films as visual
techniques enable the public to interact with it better than
the old system’s text, email or print method. Thanks to
social networking sites processes like funding and
exhibiting the film are made simple as the connections can
be made across the internet so it can be funded from
anywhere and exhibited anywhere.
