Essays On Communication Skills
Writing an essay on the topic of communication skills can prove to be a challenging endeavor, as
it requires a thoughtful exploration of a multifaceted subject. Communication skills encompass a
wide range of abilities, including verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening,
interpersonal skills, and the ability to convey ideas effectively. The challenge lies in navigating
through this diverse landscape and presenting a comprehensive and insightful analysis.
To begin with, one must delve into the intricacies of effective communication, examining the
various elements that contribute to successful interaction. This involves understanding the
nuances of both verbal and non-verbal communication, as well as recognizing cultural
differences that can impact how messages are interpreted. A writer must carefully balance theory
and practical examples to illustrate the importance of honing communication skills in various
contexts.
Moreover, addressing the challenges and barriers to effective communication adds another layer
of complexity. Factors such as language barriers, emotional intelligence, and the impact of
technology on communication must be considered. Analyzing case studies or real-life examples
can help in illustrating the hurdles individuals may face when attempting to communicate clearly
and efficiently.
Crafting an essay on communication skills also requires exploring the role of active listening and
empathy in effective communication. Understanding the perspectives of others and adapting
communication styles accordingly is crucial in fostering positive connections. This, however,
demands a nuanced discussion and a deep dive into the psychological aspects of interpersonal
communication.
Furthermore, an essay on this topic should not overlook the relevance of communication skills in
professional settings. The ability to convey ideas persuasively, collaborate effectively in a team,
and navigate conflict resolution are integral components of success in the workplace. Drawing
connections between communication skills and career advancement adds an additional layer of
depth to the essay.
In conclusion, writing an essay on communication skills demands a comprehensive understanding
of the subject, a skillful integration of theory and practical examples, and a nuanced exploration
of the various facets of effective communication. It is a task that requires dedication, research,
and the ability to present ideas in a clear and coherent manner.

The, 12 Angry Men, And Nasa s Challenger Disaster
Speak your mind even if your voice shakes , a quote made famous by Maggie
Kuhn, is the foundation of how I conduct my life. While the fundamentals of being
an open minded, educated, and well rounded individual involve considering the
opinions of others and evaluating both sides of the argument, too often people
become complacent and lose the ability to think for themselves. The common term
that refers to this type of herd mentality is sheeple . The play, 12 Angry Men, and
NASA s Challenger disaster are two prime examples of the downfalls of groupthink.
Below, I will discuss both the helpful and harmful aspects of groupthink surrounding
both 12 Angry Men, and the Challenger disaster, as well as the effects of groupthink
on today s voting young adults.
In the play, 12 Angry Men, the vote was 11 1 in favor of a guilty verdictin the case
being tried. The one juror stood his ground, explained his theory as to why a guilty
verdict could not be delivered, and was unwavering in his stance. The jurors went
around the table twice, and ended with everyone siding with the original juror. As
the deliberations played out and jurors were questioned, some jurors were not able to
justify their guilty verdict, merely stating It just is . This statement shows the effect
of the groupthink mentality, especially since one juror was considerably vocal and
angered by the time being spent on deliberations. The logical discussions the other
jurors had with one another displayed a positive aspect
Greek Mythology And Greek Myths
Greek mythology played an important role in Ancient Grecian culture. It was often
used to explain natural phenomena, human characteristics, and life events. There
were also numerous morals and ideas instilled in Greek myths that influenced the
behaviors and actions of the people of Ancient Greece. When observing and
attempting to interpret Greek myths, one may find that there is no single,
fundamental meaning; rather, the story s meaning changes depending on the interests
and emphases of its teller. Though many myths focused on the actions of men,
women were still very important in many Greek myths, and had a number of
different roles, ranging from the prototypical helpless damsel in distress to great and
powerful goddesses. These various roles symbolize how women are represented in
both negative and positive lights depending on the ideals of the person interpreting
the myth. In modern times, for example, women in Greek mythologyare interpreted as
either pro or anti woman depending on what messages the feminists want to convey.
Although various views of women in Greek mythology have been presented over the
years, when one examines the portrayal of females in the stories of The Judgement of
Paris, Pasiphae, and Calypso in Greek mythology, one can better understand how
many aspects of Greek myths portrayed women in a negative way. One very well
known Greek myth revolves around the three goddesses, Athena, Hera, and
Aphrodite. This myth states that the three goddesses
Comparing Charcot s Opinions And Social Pressure
In the article, Opinions and Social Pressure , the author talks about perspective,
minority vs. majority, and social pressure. Everybody knows that the majority rules
the minority. But, instead of following everybody else, every person should analyze
the situation and make their own decisions on what they believe in. Social
influences shape everybody in many ways and everyone should be aware of it.
Psychologists have done many studies and analyzed similar situations. Psychologist
studied hypnosis to try to figure out why humans are how they are. One
psychologist, Jean Martin Charcot, and two physicians, Hippolyte Bernheim and
A.A. Liebault studied hypnosis. Gabriel Tarde, a socialist, also observed it. Most

He believed that only patients who were overly emotional could be looked at and

Hippolyte Bernheim and A.A. Liebault believed that they could put most people
under hypnosis no matter what. Bernheim believed that the quality of being inclined
to accept and act on suggestions of others. After something was repeated so much,
you would jump on the bandwagon and join them. Gabriel Tarde believes that the
truth is that every man walks in their sleep or under hypnosis. The psychologists did
studies and experiments on college students. When observing them they would ask
them to state their opinion on certain social issues. They would give their answer
then later tell them how larger groups and superiors felt on the same social issue. The
students would most likely change their stance on the social issue to match their
superiors. Many people questioned the study s results. They do not know if they are
being truthful or if they just wrote down that because that is what they believe in and
want to be true. Psychologists did another study with seven to nine male college
students anonymously. They gave them cards with lines on them and
Catharsis In Othello
In both ancient and modern theater, tragedy is prevalent. Audiences everywhere
enjoy watching these stories of tragic heroes unfold as they experience catharsis or
purgation of the emotions, leaving them feeling better instead of worse. After
observing many tragedies in the fourth century B.C., Aristotle created a now famous
description of tragedyand its heroes. He recognized tragic heroes had a tragic flaw or
hamartia, were of high estate, eventually came to recognize their flaw (anagnorisis),
experience a fall or reversal of fortune, and affect the audience, purging them of their
hidden emotions. Both Othelloand Troy Maxson possess some of these
characteristics, however Troy Maxson should not be classified as a tragic herolike

After realizing Desdemona remained faithful, Othello grieves over her death and
denounces himself. From the possession of this heavenly sight! Blow me about in
the winds! Roast me in sulfur! Wash me in steep down gulfs of liquid fire! O
Desdemona! Dead, Desdemona! Dead! O! O! (Shakespeare 1345). The audience
feels pity on Othello because he is truly sorrowful for his actions. Emotions of pain
and regret are released but do not leave them feeling bad. Instead, the freeing of
these pains make the audience feel relieved after watching this play. However, the
audience, and myself personally, does not feel pity for Troy. He never earned the
respect or emotional appeal of the audience, therefore, his fall does not result in the
purgation of emotions as Othello does. After reading and watching Fences and
Othello, I concluded that Othello was indeed a tragic hero and Troy was not.
Although Othello did not meet every characteristic Aristotle described perfectly, he
did achieve the goal of the tragic hero which is to create a catharsis within the
audience. While Troy Maxson was very tragic, he did not possess the qualities of a
tragic hero and did not create an emotional connection and purgation with the

Francis Crick was a Biophysic born in Northampton, England(1916). He helped
create new technologies during World War II.After the war, he began investigating
the structure of DNA with the Research Council of the University of Cambridge

Ibsen brings out a Christmas tree in the beginning, she leaves the door into the hall
open behind her, and a PORTER is seen outside, carrying a Christmas tree, (Ibsen).
It tells us that the play takes in place during Christmas on a cold day. Behind that
meaning, it represents how Nora is treated by Torvald. Ibsen assures the readers
that a man, Torvald, expects his woman to look fine and representable to the eye of
everyone, since the wife represents how the house looks from the inside. Ibsen was
concerned about the so called weaker sex, referring to Nora in this situation
(Hassan). Ibsen makes Torvald seen as a nice man who pleases his wife, but, he
treats her like a doll. Ibsen made it seem that a man expected their woman to obey
them in everything, which the Christmas tree describes how Torvald expects his
wife. Helmer: ... and I ll think over your costume, too. And perhaps I may even find
something to hang in gilt paper on the Christmas tree! (Ibsen). The way that Torvald
expresses himself about his wife and the Christmas tree, he does not care about the
meaning what it brings to the family other than looking pleasant. Then Ibsen
describes how that affects Nora; In the corner, beside the piano, stands Christmas

Group Development and Interaction Theory
Group Development and Interaction Theory
Within the business setting, the shift from yesterday s singular culture to today s
team culture has brought about a new era of learning, development, and innovation.
However, this shift has also brought with it a certain amount of dissatisfaction,
conflict, and confusion. This paper will focus on the Tuckman Theory, and discuss
how Tuckman s five stages of group development and interaction applies to the work
environment and leadership effectiveness.
The Tuckman Theory
Tuckman s theory maintains that groups enter four foreseeable and elementary stages
of development, and each of these stages contain both task and maintenance
functions. These stages are Forming, Storming, Norming, and ... Show more content

Alternately, roles and responsibilities may develop naturally, as individuals interact
among each other. A team leader may emerge out of the team simply based on their
willingness to do so, or by the willingness of others to be lead by them because of a
person s personality or the team members acknowledgement of their unique skills and
abilities where the particular team task is concerned.
During this time, it is important for team members to be honest with themselves and
their teammates concerning their own strengths and weaknesses concerning
particular tasks and responsibilities that will be required to complete the assigned
project. Moreover, while a team members individuality is important to the quality of
the group as a whole, that same individuality cannot overwhelm or dominate the rest
of the team to the exclusion of the thoughts and opinions of others.
Additionally, at this time the team leader must assert their leadership and coaching
abilities to reinforce the roles and responsibilities of each team member as well as
the goals of the team.
It is during this stage that the coaching skills of the coaching manager should come
to the fore. Both individuals and the team as a whole should be coached to enable
and support them to ensure agreement as regards what specifically the goals, roles,
and rules are with respect to the team and what that means to each and every
individual (Mackintosh, 2003).

Epa s Clean Power Plan

SubjectBriefings on EPA s Clean Power Plan: How state emission budgets were
established, and legal (reasonableness and fairness) issues.
This memo is my interpretation on the readings of EPA s clean power plan specific
to how state budgets where established and legal issues emphasizing the fairness and
reasonableness towards the states.
1.0Overview
The clean power plan was adopted by the EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency) on August 03, 2015 to regulate carbon emissions from existing power plants.
Under the Supreme Court decision in Massachusetts v. EPA , greenhouse gases meet
the definition of air pollutants under the Clean Air Act, implying they need to be
controlled, if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is determined to reduce carbon emissions from the power sector 32 % of 2005
levels by 2030. The primary objective of the clean power plan is to establish unique
emission rate goals and mass equivalents for each individual state to reach this target.
2.0How state emission budgets where established
The clean Air Act under the section 111(d) creates a partnership between EPA,
states, tribes and U.S. territories with EPA setting a goal and states and tribes
choosing how they will meet it. EPA is defining interim and final CO2 emission
performance rates for two subcategories of fossil fuel fired electric generating units
(EGU s):
1.1,305 lbs/MWh for existing fossil fuel fired electric steam generating units
(generally, coal fired power plants)
2.771 lbs/MWh for existing natural gas combined cycle units
EPA has also established statewide interim and final goals in 2 forms to give a wide
range of choices for states in implementing these standards like:
1.A rate based state goal measured in pounds per megawatt hour (lb/MWh);
2.A mass based state goal measured in total short tons of CO2
States then have to develop and implement plans for power plants in their state either
individually, in group or by applying other measures to meet with the interim
reduction goals in between 2022 2029 and final goal by 2030.
2.1BSER: Best system of emissions reduction
The basis for the emissions reductions in the EPA s proposed rule is a review of the
Military Accountability Essay
Being late does not make one important. Tardiness is a very unattractive quality
when it comes to most aspects of one s life: family functions, meetings, interviews,
and especially a job. While a family may forgive tardiness, a job will not. Being late
once or twice in one s life is unavoidable. Being consistently tardy makes one
unreliable and shows a lack of respect for other people s time and obligations.
Being late tells others that one person can be waited on, while everyone else can t.
People do not like when their feelings were not taken into consideration, when they
took the time to consider others. Punctuality is a very important part of military life

What could have been done the night before? Punctuality is a habit. It s a matter of
creating the routine and sticking with the routine. Punctual people will be winners
everywhere and will be one step ahead of the others. Planning ahead will contribute
to being punctual, less stress, and the ability to navigate around unforeseen
circumstances. This all helps avoid difficult situations as far as time is concerned.
This show of respect will also command respect from others. Someone who shows,
over and over, that they are the master of their time is someone who will be taken
seriously in areas far removed from time management. That foresight and
adaptability that gets you where you need to be, when you need to be there, tells
the people around you that you can handle whatever is thrown at you. When it
comes to the military certain things are automatically expected of a person. One of
the most important expectations is time management and being on time. Every day
there are any number of places a soldier is required to be at a certain time and as the
old saying goes, if you re not fifteen minutes early, you re late no matter the situation.
Some soldiers understand the importance of showing up fifteen minutes prior to an
event or scheduled activity. To others, it makes no sense at all. Extreme as it may
sound, when dealing with the number of people that

At the same time, small farmers, who worked smaller tracts of land, sat in popular
assemblies and found their way into political office. Their outspoken independence
was a constant warning to the more powerful of planters not to encroach too far upon
the rights of free men.
No pertinent differences arose between this era and the aftermath of the
Revolutionary War. It was at this time however that the greatest dissention began to
arise between the two regions and differences other than slavery and economy arose.
These differences lay in the political and social standing on the creation of a new
united government. The articles of confederation were the first manifestation of these
differing beliefs. The 18th century statesmen who met in Philadelphia at the Federal
Convention were believers in the concept of balance of power in politics. These
influences led to the decision that three equal and coordinate branches of government
should be established. Legislative, executive and judicial powers were to be so well
balanced that no one could ever gain control. The delegates agreed that the legislative
branch, like the colonial legislatures and the British Parliament, should consist of two
houses. On these points there was unanimity within the assembly. But major
differences arose as to the method of achieving them. Representatives of the small
states, like New Jersey, for instance, objected to changes that

Gandhi s Life and Legacy Throughout the course of history there have been many
influential leaders that have stressed the use of non violence and civil disobedience
including Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Gandhi was a very influential and
inspiring leader that was able to lead billions of people. He was willing to give up
everything for what he believed in even though he knew that his actions could
possibly lead to imprisonment and other legal consequences. Gandhi s bravery and
perseverance led to changes that affected and influenced the whole world and brought
about positive change for people whose voices would have went unheard. Mohandas

Gandhi s father was the chief minister in different parts of India and his mother was
very devoted to religion. Gandhi followed in both of his parents footsteps by
devoting himself to religion and later pursuing an education and career in the law
field. Also, at the age of thirteen he had an arranged marriage to a girl named

stopped practicing Jainism and worshipping the Hindu God Vishnu. Jainism is an
ancient religion in India that is based on morals and it stresses non violence, fasting,
meditation and vegetarianism (Mahatma Gandhi). Later in life, Gandhi traveled to

12 24 hours to get an accurate result so we will be monitoring this growth between
two classes. We also used different methods to determine bacterial growth as well as
a few different calculations. One way of receiving data is by using a
spectrophotometer where we will record the absorption at a given time to create the
bacterial growthcurve. We also used the plate count method after performing a serial
dilution to calculate the actual cell density at different times given. By using this
method we can count the population number of the same given and see the maximum

take time to get used the their new environment. During this phase, organisms will

cells are dividing and growing at a very fast rate. DNA replication begins in this

One system development methodology is not necessarily suitable for use by all
projects. Each of the available methodologies is best suited for specific kinds of
projects, based on various technical, organizational, project and team considerations.
Conventional heavyweight, document driven software development methods can be
characterized as extensive planning, codified process, reuse, heavy documentation
and big design up front. These are some reason that conventional methods have been
replaced by lightweight agile software development methods mostly in small scale
and relatively simple projects. This phenomenon is mainly due to the conventional
methods shortcomings, including a slow adaptation to rapidly changing business
requirements, and a tendency to be over budget and behind schedule The
conventional methods also have not able to provide dramatic improvements in
productivity, reliability, and simplicity. Despite the existing shortcomings, the
conventional methods are still widely used in industry, particularly, for large scale
projects. Conventional methods come with their straightforward, methodical, and
structured nature, as well as their capability to provide predictability, stability, and
high assurance. Agile software development methods focus on iterative and
incremental development, customer collaboration, and frequent delivery through a
light and fast development life cycle. There are many positive benefits of the agile
approaches.
Why I Am Grateful For Rowing
Why I am Grateful for Rowing
When I first joined the Texas Rowing Center, I had no idea that six months later my
life would revolve around rowing. At first, I was extremely apprehensive, because I
knew that committing to rowing would mean giving up over ten hours of precious
time a week to make space for practice. However, the decision has paid off in
innumerable ways, including the fact that rowing practice is now the highlight of
every day.
Rowing has helped me make new friends. Before I joined rowing, almost all of my
friends were from school. Now I have another way to connect with lots of people,
some of whom have become great friends. One example of a wonderful friend I have

Although I can run three miles pretty fast, and I wanted to race the other fast

motivated instead. I hated having to walk half the way, but it was helpful for me
to experience a leader. I had to practice a lot of patience. I was also elected team co
captain, which means I have a lot of organizational responsibilities as well. I feel
like Abbey, our coach, really respects me as a leader in the group. I am so thankful
for the chance to lead my peers somewhere other than at school. Being in a different
environment leading different people presents a whole new set of challenges and
benefits.
Rowing forces me to challenge myself and push my boundaries. I am especially
grateful for Abbey pushing me. She never lets me take the easy way out. If she

erg all by myself, it s really hard to get motivated, but whenever I erg at practice I
always want to show Abbey how well I can do. Even when I think I m doing my
best, she always tells me to go harder and drop my split lower, and I always find
that I can. Rowing has made me work harder than I thought possible, push farther
than I believed I could, and hurt more than I thought I could take. Through all that, I
am constantly inspired to push harder every day of practice. I love to get in the boat
and get started, and every new workout just makes me want to

Wondering What Type Of Awnings To Choose? Here s How Metal And Fabric
Compare
If you ve decided it s time to get awnings for your house windows, you might be
overwhelmed with all your choices. Unless you already know the kind of awnings
you want, you may wonder which type is best for your home.
You have two basic choices to begin with. You can install a metal or fabric awning
.
Each has its own advantages and disadvantages, but both types work well, so you
can t really go wrong no matter which type you choose. Here is a look at how these
options differ.
Awning Appearance
Metal awnings and fabric awnings look similar but since the materials are so
different, you can tell them apart quite easily. Metal awnings can be standing seam or
flat metal.
If you have a metal roof, one of these awnings could look like a natural extension of
the roof. They come in a number of colors so you can match or contrast the colors of
your home. Fabric awnings have the most variety when it comes to appearance.
These awnings come in a range of colors, stripes, and patterns. Fabric awnings also
come in a variety of shapes since the fabric can take on the shape of the form
beneath it. Fabric is also used on retractable awnings since it can be rolled up easily
and hidden when the awning is not in use.
Sun Protection
Metal awnings are solid material so they completely block the sun. Fabric awnings
can let some light filter through depending on the type of fabric you choose. Consider

The Great Ireland Potato Famine Effects Essay
The Great Ireland Potato Famine Effects
The Great Ireland Potato Famine was a horrible event that had many lasting effects.
Some of these effects were starvation, disease, poverty, emigration, and lost traits.
These effects plagued mostly western Ireland, but had an overall effect on all of
Ireland. Many of the traditional ways of economics and society changed drastically
because of the famine. Many people also blamed the British for letting the famine get
so bad. These effects will be discussed throughout the paper.
Starvation was one of the main effects of the Great Potato Famine, which was unlike
other subsistence crises (Crawford, 114). The Irish people were very dependant on
potatoes as a source of food. The majority of ... Show more content on

For this reason, many people died from the diseases. The diseases plagued the
crowed towns where the famine was affecting the most, killing off thousands and
thousands of people. A doctor in Skibbereen was quoted to saying that the people are
dying not in twos or threes but by the dozens; the ordinary forms of decent burial
dispensed with (Kinealy 41).
The many deaths of the Irish and how they were buried remind me of the
Holocaust and how those people were buried. The dead Irish people were buried in
famine pits (Daly 6) where the dead would be buried in mass graves (Daly 6).
Many of these graves remain unmarked to this day. In some areas, the sea washes
ashore some of the bones of those who died in the famine. The Irish people use this
as a reminder of the hard times in the past.
Many of the people were left with no jobs during the famine. Their main job was
farming potatoes and their main source of income was growing potatoes. Therefore,
when the blight came, they had nothing else to turn to and were left with very little
money. The fact that the landlords owned practically everything in Ireland made it
difficult for the Irish people to invest in other ways to generate income. This left the
Irish people no choice but to immigrate out to other countries in hope for jobs.
During the rough years of the famine, many people
Baking Personal Narrative
While pursuing my Associates Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts from The Culinary
Institute of America I was introduced to numerous working kitchen environments that
were entirely new to me. The rigorous curriculum that proceeded throughout the
course ensured that going into the industry I would have the knowledge and
techniques required to be successful in any potential work environment I may take on.
Being able to work quickly and multitasking were greatly stressed by my chefs and
are two skills I can say I do well while both maintaining a relaxed and professional
demeanor. Where I excel, is in my ability to work well within a team and in
communicating clearly with them. I am also confident in my capability to work

BCG Growth Share Matrix
Research Assignment No. 2 The BCG Growth Share Matrix
The BCG Growth Share Matrix is a portfolio planning model that was developed by
Bruce Henderson of the Boston Consulting Group in the early 1970 s. It is based on
the observation that organisations business units can be classified into four
categories based on combinations of market growth and market share relative to the
largest competitor. Market growth serves as a proxy for industry attractiveness, and
relative market share serves as a proxy for competitive advantage. The growth share
matrix thus maps the business unit positions within these ... Show more content on

The cash cow generates a relatively stable cash flow; its value can be determined
with reasonable accuracy by calculating the present value of its cash stream using a
discounted cash flow analysis.
Under the growth share matrix model, as an industry matures and its growth rate
declines, a business unit will become either a cash cow or a dog, determined solely
by whether it had become the market leader during the period of high growth.
While originally developed as a model for resource allocation among the various
business units in a corporation, the growth share matrix also can be used for resource
allocation among products within a single business unit. Its simplicity is its strength
the relative positions of the organisations entire business portfolio can be displayed in
a single diagram.

Congenital Condition Of Congenital Heart Defects
A congenital heart defect is an issue with the actual anatomy of the heart. This issue
is normally presented at the time of birth. Congenital heart defects are some of the
most common type of birth defect. Eight out of one thousand newborns are diagnosed
with a congenital heart defect. Congenital defects can often affect any anatomical
part of the heart. It can affect the valves, walls, arteries and veins near the heart.
Congenital defects can affect the flow of bloodthrough the heart, they can cause it to
go the wrong direction, be blocked or slowed down. Although aortic coarctation can
occur anywhere along the aorta, the coarctation is most often located near a blood
vessel called the ductus arteriosus . (2)
It is often known that the congenital heart defects can display little to no signs and
symptoms. Congenital heart defects that are more severe can display signs and
symptoms that can be life threatening. They are diagnosed during pregnancy or
right after birth, during a physical assessment. One of the anatomical parts that
could be affected by a congenital issue is the aorta. The aorta is considered the
largest blood vessel in the body. It is the passage where the oxygen rich blood leaves
from the left side of the body the heart and carries oxygen throughout the body.
In a healthy functioning heart the blood flows from the superior and inferior vena
cava the right into the right atrium. Blood flows from the right atrium pass the
tricuspid valve into the right
Weaknesses Of Ir, It Is Not The Silver Bullet That Will...
Weaknesses of IR
Although there are a lot of strengths for IR, it is not the silver bullet that will
completely change accounting forever. One of the main weaknesses of IR is the
expenses that come with measuring such a comprehensive range of factors that
include non monetary factors that can be hard to actually measure (Eccles Krzus,
2010). It can be unappealing for smaller companies or organisations to set up all of
these systems in order to provide a wider perspective of their business or organisation
just to please stakeholders, when the costs will outweigh the potential profits of
attracting new investors.
Another issue would be potential information overload for less knowledgeable
individuals who will simply be overwhelmed by all the information provided by IR.
There is a question of how important is it to report more comprehensively if the end
user will simply be unable to use all of the information to their advantage, which
raises another question of if it is worth reporting in an IR format at all.
Time is also a major issue for some companies who may have less labour to spare in
order to report on what can be considered less important aspects of an organisation,
especially if it is a small to medium sized enterprise. There have been reports of
some integrated reports being three times as longer than estimated to be completed
(Eccles Saltzman, 2011). It can be very hard to justify allocating that many hours to
prepare a report that some may find unnecessary or

medication. Looking at pharmaceutical advertising, this paper will focus on two
different internet gastrointestinal medication advertisements, one that is FDA
approved and one that is not. Both were found on the internet that targets the general
population with frequent heartburn symptoms. Each advertisement will be critiqued
individually. This paper will also describe the pathophysiology of this GI disorder and
the ways medication can alter this pathophysiology. Finally, these two commercials
will be compared and contrasted, including the stated use of medication, patient safety
issues, and analysis of that company s claim of its benefits. Critiquing Internet
Commercial Acid reflux is something most people experience from time to time. It is
usually described as a burning feeling in the throat or chest. It is only when the signs
and symptoms start to occur two or three times a week that it becomes a problem.
Many people will seek out information about medication that will help either through
the internet, magazines or television. There are many commercials out there that
promote one medication or another for this problem. Pharmaceutical advertising uses
different techniques to get the viewer to buy their product. Two of

Pilgrimage to Cythera, where a group of presumably French lovers go to Cythera, a

Rococo works were usually commissioned by wealthy French nobility. Following
the death of King Louis XIV, The Sun King, the ruling estates of France began an
orgy of corruption. While the first and second estates were spending fortunes on
Rococo paintings and architecture, the third estate was hypnotized by the works
from philosophers such as John Locke and Voltaire. The French nobility refused to
implement the Enlightenment policies that were spreading across Europe. Seeing
their stubbornness, the French masses began the decades long disaster that was
the French Revolution. With Rococo completely left in the dust bin of history,
Neoclassicism took its place, especially in France, where Jacobin rulers and
Napoleon used Neoclassicist arts to their advantage to secure their power.
Neoclassicist artists, like Renaissance artists, began to explore the depth and
complexity of Greek and Roman works and create pieces inspired by these works.
Exaggerated war paintings, such as the Death of General Wolfe or the Oath of the

2.1. Explanations of Students Poor Presentation Performance
2.1.1.Communication related anxiety
The inability to effectively deliver oral presentations may stem from a
communication related anxiety known as oral communication apprehension. This is
the biggest problem that presenter may come up against. The problem McCroskey
(1977) defined as an individual s level of fear or anxiety associated with either real
or anticipated communication with another person or persons (p.78) which may
contribute to an increase in anxiety and loss of self confidence and, consequently,
negatively affect one s action to engage in oral communication from face to face
speaking to an audience by delivering a presentation or speech.
According to Phillips (1968), a factor contributing to poor communication
performance may lie in one s memory of his or her parents misusing language to
ventilate grievances, berate one another, or verbally harass family members,
including oneself. These negative experiences may have led the individual to be
fearful or reticent of communication dialog, resulting in withdrawal from oral
communication encounters.

Moses And David Research Paper

differences throughout their lives. They are both referred to as men or servants of
God. However, they represent vastly different functions within the Bible. While both
Davidand Mosesserve God, they do so in extremely contrasting ways.
The lives of Moses and David contain many similarities in their youth. Both Moses
and David were the youngest child of their families. Also, both prophets came from
troubled family situations. Moses and David both grew up in wealthy households

First, they both antagonize their rulers. Likewise, this causes them to lose the
favor of their adoptive households. Interestingly, Moses and David, both distinguish
themselves and lose royal favor, by killing someone. First, David loses favor and
becomes a significant figure by killing Goliath. As a result, Saul begins to fear
David. Similarly, Moses kills an Egyptian slave driver, which angers the Pharaoh.
Both of these deaths, symbolize the beginning of the divine missions of David and
Moses. As a result, they both begin confronting the authority in the region. David
begins directly fighting against Saul. Moses begins confronting the Pharaoh with
plagues. However, at this time the first major difference between Moses and David
becomes apparent. David spoke through God indirectly through the prophet
Samuel. But Moses, was a prophet, so spoke to God directly. However, this point
of their lives poses additional similarities. During this time of their lives, both
Moses and David worked as shepherds. Likewise, their opponents constantly began
to yield, but changed their minds. The Pharaoh at many points stated that he would
free the Jews. For example, the Pharaoh said, I will let you go, and ye shall stay no
longer, (Exodus 9:28). However, the Pharaoh constantly changed his mind because,
The Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh, (Exodus 9:12). Similarly, at many times
Saul considered making peace with David. However, he must change his mind, until
he is eventually defeated and David becomes
The Importance Of Communication And Effective...
Success in any environment is built around efficient and effective communication.
Successful communication requires clear, concise and correct information being
delivered in a form which cannot be misinterpreted or misunderstood. Through
communication, we attempt to convey thoughts and objectives to others, with the
intention of achieving successful performance.
Communications can only be successfully understood when both sender and receiver
comprehend the same information and in current times with industries technology
progressively developing and at a fast pace it has become increasingly important for
individuals to have good communicational skills.
For section 1 of the module I will be identifying and explaining the relevance of the
effective communication in management, this will be achieved by analyzing the
relevance of the communication cycle by understanding the key importance of using
both the 5 C s of communication and selecting the correct tone, language and level of
formality for management communications. This process will be assessed in both
verbal and written communication methods.
For the second section of the module I will reflect and develop effective
communications skills. I will develop criteria and create a questionnaire to evaluate
my own abilities in verbal and written communications. Using the feedback received
from my colleagues I will identify strengths and areas which require improvement.

America never was America to me . Learned Hand and Langston Hughes had
differences on their thought on the topic of Liberty and whether America is great.
Hughes and Hands opinion of Libertyhas changed the way the common man reacts to
racism and the way we perceive America s greatness.
America is arguably the most robust country and yet it also one of many countries
where we are not all free. In the poem Let America Be America Again Langston
Hughes shows his opinion of America and declared that America has never been
great and never will be if there is varied equality among the ethnics and their social
classes. Learned Hand announced That spirit of an American which has never been,

Americas create it , her he feels that America is only as good as the common people
in it, therefore, Americas future lies in our hands and the way we use it. Both
Langston Hughes and Learned Hand presumed that America has never been great

Researching deeper into the definition, the more specific term adaptive technology
means any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired
commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized, that is used to increase,
maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with a disability
(Braswell, 2001,p1). Assistive technology has been making it possible for children
with disabilities to do more for themselves and become less dependent on others.
For example, a child who cannot use her hands can operate a computer with a
switch and an on screen keyboard. A child with speech problems can communicate
using a portable electronic device that speaks . These are just a few of the examples
of the wide variety of adaptive equipment that is available today.
Fortunately for the disabled students of the new millennium, adaptive technology
has greatly improved. Technological developments have been emerging since the
early 1900 s, but looking back on the past twenty years, adaptive technology has
come a long way. In 1988, Retail point of sale devices began to use picture based
keyboards. This technology was originally developed in the mid 1960 s to enable
people to speak using a keyboard, computer, and speech synthesizer (Jacob, 1999).
Today, these picture based keyboards enable retail establishments to employ

True Love In Noah Calhoun s The Notebook

are so powerful and so passionate and both of the men saying them to be so in love
with their girls. But was either of these situations true love? Most people would
say yes and that is probably why both films went on to be two of the most famous
and most favorable love films of our time. But other than their amazing story lines
and heart throbbing love stories and slight differences, one thing that is so
amazing is just how similar their stories really are. In the Notebook a man by the

While some aim at such career for the fortune and are utterly blinded by affluency,
they are guaranteed a life of dissatisfaction when it comes to their everyday job. In
my perceptive, a career shouldn t be any job or obligation, but rather the pursuit of
lifelong ambition and interest. While some might argue about the disadvantages
about becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon, it balances once considering the pros of
this career. Disadvantages offered by this career are long working hours and sudden
on calls during the night, 12 15 years of needed education, cost of education, stress,
life and death responsibility, and malpractice. On the contrary, as a cardiothoracic
surgeon you can find a job easily, high salary, paid vacation, and personal satisfaction
that you are alleviating suffering, saving lives and creating

A way normal life (Clueless, 00:53) as described by her, she has a lot of friends,
with whom she has fun, is driving a Jeep and there is nothing to distress or vex her.
On the other hand the clever and rich Emma Woodhouse lives with her father at
Hartfield (their estate) and is sure of having a quite independent life. As already
mentioned above, Emma is not dependent on getting a wealthy husband in order to
secure her income. Therefore she is not at all interested in matrimony. Cher
likewise is not in a hurry to find the right boyfriend at the beginning of the movie,
she is resolved not to throw herself away to the neck of a high school boy. As she
regards those boys immature and too improper for her. In addition to that she
compares them to her outfit: You see how picky I am about my shoes and they only
go on my feet. (Clueless, 44:30) For both girls there is neither violence nor generation
conflict that would convulse their ideal, stable and shimmering world . A difference

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
I am a MBA student taking different courses to develop a great understanding of the
various aspects that businesses entails. I want to be well versed in a variety of other
areas that will make me confident in my career. ACCOMPLISHMENTS
The contents and assignment in this course has helped me understand the various
theories of leadership and how different leadership styles can have a negative or
positive effect on followers and organizations. The leadership theories helped me
understand the concept of leadership better because it educates me on the different
leadership options that are available. Leadership and followership is not based on
specific characteristics. Leaders must draw from things and approaches to find the
right style. A follower s attitude determines the way a leader leads. According to
Johnson (2011) Being a good follower means ensuring your boss is supported, but
only if he is making optimum decisions .
As a good follower, I need to accept responsibility and I need to be aware of the tasks
that I have to take on. I have to readily support my leader at all times and I should
be able to voice my opinions to my leader in a very supportive way. Leaders can
only lead an organization successfully if they have personalities that appeal to their
followers. The individual reflection and big five
Persuasive Essay On Wild Boars
Wild boars were originally brought over by the Spanish in 1539 as food aboard their
ships and in the new lands, but now they re taking over much of the US. There are an
estimated five to six million wild boars in the United States with an estimated one
million in Florida alone. Spreading rapidly with no intention of slowing down, these
wild boars are causing devastation to the native environment throughout the United
Stateswith their destructive habits. The US government has precautions put into
place to try and control aspects of the boar population, but they re negating it with
regulations that are benefiting the boars rather than the general population and native
species. There are measures that need to be put into place in order to control the wild
boarpopulation and the destruction that comes with them.
The native Flora and Fauna of the United States is being threatened by numerous
invasive species, one of which is considered to be the most destructive. The wild
boar is known to dwell in 35 states and is costing the US an estimated $1.5 billion
each year in damages. Eating almost everything it sets its eyes on, boars dig up
anything it desires to eat in a process called rooting. When a wild boar does a
rooting behavior to dig up food it destabilizes the soil surface which leads to
surface erosion. The surface erosion removes the top layer of soil that is
responsible for having the richest organic matter leading to the soil losing
nutrients needed to support plant life. Wild board also feed on a large quantity of
native vegetation leaving the native plants not enough time to fully recover before
being trampled over again by the damaging heathens. Males also tusks small trees
removing the bark layer on an area of the tree in order to mark their territory and
display their dominance. This tusking behavior causing serious harm to trees and has
the potential to kill the tree. There is a phloem layer under the bark of a tree that
comes up when boars do their tusking behavior. Nutrients such as water and minerals
travel up the Phloem layer of the tree from the roots to the leaves, but if the phloem
layer is removed from a portion of the tree it restricts the nutrients distributed
throughout the tree and leads
Jean Piaget s Theory Of Cognitive Development
The Swiss psychologist Jean Piaget (1896 1980) is considered one of the 20th
Century s most influential naturalistic researchers in clinical psychology and child
development. Piaget s theory of cognitive development is based in the belief that
childhood plays a vital and crucial role in later development to an adult. Piaget
became particularly interested in children and their development while working at
Binet s IQ laboratory in Paris (1921). (Presnell, 1999) During that time he started to
study children and the way they reason. He wanted to understand how we, as
humans, come to know what we know. (McLeod, 2009) Piaget s theory breaks down
children s learning into four main stages. 1.Sensorimotor stage (infancy ages birth to 2

The baby first develops reflex acts (the first month of life) where the baby learns
actions like sucking. In the beginning of my life I had things to suck on, such as
my mother s breasts, bottles and pacifiers. A baby then will move on to primary
circular reactions (one to four months old) when the baby demonstrates that it has
control over it hands and legs. The baby will kick out her legs and find enjoyment
in that action because she did it voluntarily. The secondary circular reactions (four
to eight months old) are the type of reactions we see when a baby holds an object,
such as a rattle, he or she shakes the rattle to hear the sound and thus providing
pleasure as the baby makes the noise him or herself. The next part of the
development of the baby is the co ordinating secondary schemes (eight to twelve
months old) which is when the baby not only shakes the rattle, but also will reach out
to take the rattle because that is what the baby wants. The baby is making a
connection with the rattle on the table that it wants, grabbing it and shaking it to
produce a sound. The baby begins to explore the environment and starts to mimic
behaviour of other individuals. The next part of development in this stage is tertiary
circular reaction (twelve to eighteen months). Here the baby starts to put things
together for example making the cup tower instead of just knocking it down. The
final development in this
The Legacy Of Southeast Brazil
Northeast Brazil is one of the poorest areas in a country where there is an incredibly
great divide between the wealthy and the poor. Similar to the situation in the United
States, many impoverished families are caught in a cycle where being born into
poverty means your resources are less accessible than that of someone born into
money. As a result, the young people remain impoverished throughout their lives and
have children that face the same struggle continuing the cycle.. Educationis one of the
critical resources that may be able to assist in removing someone from an
impoverished situation. Unfortunately, in places with a large population of poor, the
schoolsystems tend to be in poor condition or non existent. Post World War II Brazil
struggled with its government, instituting democracy until 1964 when then
president Joao Goulart was ousted in a coup. This resulted in military rule in
Brazil until 1988 when a new constitution was written and Fernando Collor de
Mello was elected in 1989 as the first directly (democratically??) elected president
since 1960. However, when he was accused of corruption, he stepped down and in
1994 Fernando Henrique Cardoso was elected into office. Since then Brazil has had
two presidents, Luiz InГЎcio Lula da Silva in 2002 and Dilma Rousseff in 2010, the
country s current president. Rousseffhas recently been suspended from her position
and faces impeachment on corruption charges (BBC). The end of World War II also

Communication skills encompass a wide range of abilities, including verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, interpersonal skills, and the ability to convey ideas effectively. The challenge lies in navigating through this diverse landscape and presenting a comprehensive and insightful analysis. To begin with, one must delve into the intricacies of effective communication, examining the various elements that contribute to successful interaction. This involves understanding the nuances of both verbal and non-verbal communication, as well as recognizing cultural differences that can impact how messages are interpreted. A writer must carefully balance theory and practical examples to illustrate the importance of honing communication skills in various contexts. Moreover, addressing the challenges and barriers to effective communication adds another layer of complexity. Factors such as language barriers, emotional intelligence, and the impact of technology on communication must be considered. Analyzing case studies or real-life examples can help in illustrating the hurdles individuals may face when attempting to communicate clearly and efficiently. Crafting an essay on communication skills also requires exploring the role of active listening and empathy in effective communication. Understanding the perspectives of others and adapting communication styles accordingly is crucial in fostering positive connections. • 2. The, 12 Angry Men, And Nasa s Challenger Disaster Speak your mind even if your voice shakes , a quote made famous by Maggie Kuhn, is the foundation of how I conduct my life. While the fundamentals of being an open minded, educated, and well rounded individual involve considering the opinions of others and evaluating both sides of the argument, too often people become complacent and lose the ability to think for themselves. The common term that refers to this type of herd mentality is sheeple . The play, 12 Angry Men, and NASA s Challenger disaster are two prime examples of the downfalls of groupthink. Below, I will discuss both the helpful and harmful aspects of groupthink surrounding both 12 Angry Men, and the Challenger disaster, as well as the effects of groupthink on today s voting young adults. In the play, 12 Angry Men, the vote was 11 1 in favor of a guilty verdictin the case being tried. The one juror stood his ground, explained his theory as to why a guilty verdict could not be delivered, and was unwavering in his stance. The jurors went around the table twice, and ended with everyone siding with the original juror. As the deliberations played out and jurors were questioned, some jurors were not able to justify their guilty verdict, merely stating It just is . This statement shows the effect of the groupthink mentality, especially since one juror was considerably vocal and angered by the time being spent on deliberations. The logical discussions the other jurors had with one another displayed a positive aspect
  • 3. Greek Mythology And Greek Myths Greek mythology played an important role in Ancient Grecian culture. It was often used to explain natural phenomena, human characteristics, and life events. There were also numerous morals and ideas instilled in Greek myths that influenced the behaviors and actions of the people of Ancient Greece. When observing and attempting to interpret Greek myths, one may find that there is no single, fundamental meaning; rather, the story s meaning changes depending on the interests and emphases of its teller. Though many myths focused on the actions of men, women were still very important in many Greek myths, and had a number of different roles, ranging from the prototypical helpless damsel in distress to great and powerful goddesses. These various roles symbolize how women are represented in both negative and positive lights depending on the ideals of the person interpreting the myth. In modern times, for example, women in Greek mythologyare interpreted as either pro or anti woman depending on what messages the feminists want to convey. Although various views of women in Greek mythology have been presented over the years, when one examines the portrayal of females in the stories of The Judgement of Paris, Pasiphae, and Calypso in Greek mythology, one can better understand how many aspects of Greek myths portrayed women in a negative way. One very well known Greek myth revolves around the three goddesses, Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite. This myth states that the three goddesses

Everybody knows that the majority rules the minority. But, instead of following everybody else, every person should analyze the situation and make their own decisions on what they believe in. Social influences shape everybody in many ways and everyone should be aware of it. Psychologists have done many studies and analyzed similar situations. Audiences everywhere enjoy watching these stories of tragic heroes unfold as they experience catharsis or purgation of the emotions, leaving them feeling better instead of worse. After observing many tragedies in the fourth century B.C., Aristotle created a now famous description of tragedyand its heroes. He recognized tragic heroes had a tragic flaw or hamartia, were of high estate, eventually came to recognize their flaw (anagnorisis), experience a fall or reversal of fortune, and affect the audience, purging them of their hidden emotions. After realizing Desdemona remained faithful, Othello grieves over her death and denounces himself. From the possession of this heavenly sight! Blow me about in the winds! Roast me in sulfur! Wash me in steep down gulfs of liquid fire! O Desdemona! Dead, Desdemona! Dead! O! O! (Shakespeare 1345). The audience feels pity on Othello because he is truly sorrowful for his actions. Emotions of pain and regret are released but do not leave them feeling bad. Instead, the freeing of these pains make the audience feel relieved after watching this play. However, the audience, and myself personally, does not feel pity for Troy. He never earned the respect or emotional appeal of the audience, therefore, his fall does not result in the purgation of emotions as Othello does. After reading and watching Fences and Othello, I concluded that Othello was indeed a tragic hero and Troy was not. Although Othello did not meet every characteristic Aristotle described perfectly, he did achieve the goal of the tragic hero which is to create a catharsis within the audience. While Troy Maxson was very tragic, he did not possess the qualities of a tragic hero and did not create an emotional connection and purgation with the

It was at this time however that the greatest dissention began to arise between the two regions and differences other than slavery and economy arose. Conventional methods come with their straightforward, methodical, and structured nature, as well as their capability to provide predictability, stability, and high assurance. Agile software development methods focus on iterative and incremental development, customer collaboration, and frequent delivery through a light and fast development life cycle. It is based on the observation that organisations business units can be classified into four categories based on combinations of market growth and market share relative to the largest competitor. While originally developed as a model for resource allocation among the various business units in a corporation, the growth share matrix also can be used for resource allocation among products within a single business unit. Weaknesses of IR Although there are a lot of strengths for IR, it is not the silver bullet that will completely change accounting forever. One of the main weaknesses of IR is the expenses that come with measuring such a comprehensive range of factors that include non monetary factors that can be hard to actually measure (Eccles Krzus, 2010). It can be unappealing for smaller companies or organisations to set up all of these systems in order to provide a wider perspective of their business or organisation just to please stakeholders, when the costs will outweigh the potential profits of attracting new investors. Another issue would be potential information overload for less knowledgeable individuals who will simply be overwhelmed by all the information provided by IR. There is a question of how important is it to report more comprehensively if the end user will simply be unable to use all of the information to their advantage, which raises another question of if it is worth reporting in an IR format at all. Time is also a major issue for some companies who may have less labour to spare in order to report on what can be considered less important aspects of an organisation, especially if it is a small to medium sized enterprise. There have been reports of some integrated reports being three times as longer than estimated to be completed (Eccles Saltzman, 2011). It can be very hard to justify allocating that many hours to prepare a report that some may find unnecessary or

There are an estimated five to six million wild boars in the United States with an estimated one million in Florida alone. Spreading rapidly with no intention of slowing down, these wild boars are causing devastation to the native environment throughout the United Stateswith their destructive habits. The US government has precautions put into place to try and control aspects of the boar population, but they re negating it with regulations that are benefiting the boars rather than the general population and native species. There are measures that need to be put into place in order to control the wild boarpopulation and the destruction that comes with them. The native Flora and Fauna of the United States is being threatened by numerous invasive species, one of which is considered to be the most destructive. The wild boar is known to dwell in 35 states and is costing the US an estimated $1.5 billion each year in damages. Eating almost everything it sets its eyes on, boars dig up anything it desires to eat in a process called rooting. When a wild boar does a rooting behavior to dig up food it destabilizes the soil surface which leads to surface erosion. The surface erosion removes the top layer of soil that is responsible for having the richest organic matter leading to the soil losing nutrients needed to support plant life. Wild board also feed on a large quantity of native vegetation leaving the native plants not enough time to fully recover before being trampled over again by the damaging heathens. Males also tusks small trees removing the bark layer on an area of the tree in order to mark their territory and display their dominance. This tusking behavior causing serious harm to trees and has the potential to kill the tree. There is a phloem layer under the bark of a tree that comes up when boars do their tusking behavior. Nutrients such as water and minerals travel up the Phloem layer of the tree from the roots to the leaves, but if the phloem layer is removed from a portion of the tree it restricts the nutrients distributed throughout the tree and leads

Similar to the situation in the United States, many impoverished families are caught in a cycle where being born into poverty means your resources are less accessible than that of someone born into money. As a result, the young people remain impoverished throughout their lives and have children that face the same struggle continuing the cycle.. Educationis one of the critical resources that may be able to assist in removing someone from an impoverished situation.
