Thesis Examples In Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Thesis Examples In Essays" can pose a significant challenge,
as it demands a thorough understanding of both the intricacies of thesis statements and the
broader context of essay writing. To begin with, one must delve into the fundamentals of
constructing a strong thesis statement, which involves encapsulating the main point or argument
succinctly while providing a roadmap for the essay's direction.
Moreover, exploring various types of essays and their corresponding thesis examples adds an
additional layer of complexity. Essays come in diverse forms, such as argumentative, persuasive,
analytical, and expository, each requiring a tailored approach to thesis formulation. Unraveling
the nuances of these different essay genres can be time-consuming and intellectually demanding.
Furthermore, the task involves the intricate art of seamlessly integrating thesis statements into
the broader essay structure. Achieving coherence and logical flow between the introduction,
body paragraphs, and conclusion is essential for an effective essay. Balancing the depth of
analysis with clarity of expression becomes crucial, as convoluted or overly simplistic language
can detract from the essay's overall impact.
Another challenge lies in finding compelling and relevant examples to illustrate the thesis
statements. This process demands extensive research and critical evaluation to ensure that the
chosen examples effectively support the main argument and contribute to the overall coherence
of the essay.
In conclusion, tackling the topic of "Thesis Examples In Essays" necessitates a multifaceted
approach, encompassing an understanding of thesis construction, knowledge of various essay
types, and the ability to weave together cohesive and well-supported arguments. It's a task that
demands time, dedication, and a nuanced grasp of both theoretical concepts and practical
application.

Each Shovel takes 11.5 m3 / load with 480 m3 / hr to get 0.024 hr/load. Each Truck
takes 36 m3 / load with 128 m3 / hr to get 0.28 hr/load. Load a truck 36 m3 / load
with Shovel 480 m3 / hr to get 0.075 hr/load. Dump time by a truck in hr is given as
1.7 min or 0.028 hr. Calculations| Shovels| Trucks| Hr / load | 0.024 | 0.28 | Load
time for a truck / shovel by hr | 0.075 | Dump time for truck by hr | 0.028 | Trip time
for truck without load and dump time by hr | 0.177 |
The whole trip takes 0.28 hrs or 16.8 mins .
Trip= time taken to load truck by shovel + time taken from shovel to crusher+ time
taken for dumping+ time taken to drive back from crusher to shovel.
So 0.28 = 0.075+ time taken between shovel and crusher (twice) + 0.028
So time taken between shovel and crusher (twice) is 0.177 hrs, so each trip takes
0.0885hrs (5.31 mins).
Exhibit 8 Distribution of crusher delays during day shift
From summary Statistics, we found that: * Mean Delay = 12.86 minutes = 0.214
hrs * Number of Delays = 332 * Sampling Interval = 120
Women Are Oppressed And The Middle East
In the United States, what comes to our mind about the Middle East (Iraq,
Afghanistan and Iran)? Do you think of unequal treatment for women? Do you think
of terrorist? There a lot of stereotypes when we think about the Middle East.
Sometimes, we cannot always believe what we hear on the news. The stereotypes
that we commonly use is that women are being oppressed, and the whole country is
filled up with terrorists.
Why do we think that women are oppressed in the Middle East? One way that we
could think that s women are oppressed is because they are being treated unequally
from the men in the Middle East. Women are inferior to those of males in the
Middle East to some people s eyes. Men get to have the respect from the women.
When the news comes up in the United States, we observe women staying at home
making dinner and being a caretaker for the children. Westernizers (us) think that
they are uneducated women because they does not time and money to spend on
education .Some religious beliefs are that some men should think women s role is
to take care of the children. Also, another event that could impact a woman s life is
arranged marriage and sometimes we think that they could never have a great life if
they are arranged to marry someone they do not like. In some people biographies
through the news, I heard that sometimes they have to marry at a young age as young
as 14. During the marriage, we tend to think they have treated the men like they have

Essay on Exploring Basilicas and Churches in Rome
Exploring Basilicas and Churches in Rome
Rome is the home of one of the largest cathedrals in the world, St. Peter s; however,
it is also the home of many other beautiful churches and basilicas. Some of these
include basilicas such as: Santa Maria Maggiore, St. Giovanni in Lateran, and St.
Peter in Chains and churches like St. Peter Outside the Walls and San Giuseppe del
Falegnami/ Mamertine Prison. These churches and basilicas through their history, art,
architecture, and relics or tombs of saints create a rich and intriguing history of
ancient Rome.

It is in the site of ancient gardens and is located on top of Esquiline Hill (Nyborg 1).
ART AND ARCHITECTURE:
St. Mary Major is dedicated to Mary and is known for its beautiful architecture and
art or mosaics. It has the highest bell tower in Rome, which is 75 meters tall and in
the Romanesque style. The basilica s architecture includes different styles ranging
from early Christian to later periods such as Baroque. The structure contains three
naves supported by the original Athenian marble columns (Wild 403). It also
boasts of such artists as Ferdinando Fuga, who designed the front faГ»ze and other
parts of the basilica including the Chapel of the Holy Relics in 1750; Filippo
Rusuti, who designed the mosaics behind the faГ»ze; and Michelangelo, who
designed the Sforza Chapel. It contains many beautiful mosaics, which depict
different scenes such as the legend of the snowfall (above the altar and on the
bottom of the facade) and the icon of the Virgin Mary, which is located in the
Pauline Chapel. According to legend, the apostle Luke sculpted it (however, there
is no historical proof of this). Also, the ceiling is in gilded gold and designed by
Sangallo and is some of the first gold brought over to the New World under
Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain (Nyborg 2 3, 6 7).
TOMBS AND RELICS:
As is common to many cathedrals, churches, or basilicas, St. Maria Maggiore

The website I chose to analyze is the Smithsonian s History Explorer. I have always
been interested in history and the lessons from the past that still affect us in the
present (and will affect us in the future). After clicking through the website, I saw
an array of interesting topics that can certainly help the educator and shape the
classroom. I wanted to see if the website itself was user friendly for I find that it s
easy to lose interest if the site you re on has distracting pop ups or have links that do
not work. The field of education must also keep up with the advancements of
technology, as it can be a great program that can make teaching effective and efficient.

On top of the Webinars, there are also links to the programs that bring Museum staff
to communities nationwide, such as the Smithsonian s Let s Do History Tour , where
the staff visit school district nationwide to share effective, exciting teaching
techniques and K 12 resources free of charge (Smithsonian). If given the opportunity,
a school district s educators can interact and learn from the Museum staff directly
with regards to the available resources from the Museum s site. This can enhance the
history educators expertise on the subjects they teach; they can see hands on how
they can use these very resources in their classroom and they can ask questions to the
staff to ensure the effectiveness of the materials and frameworks they are presented.
Another example of a resource found on this page, If You Walked in My Shoes
teaching poster presents the students with the who, what, where, when, why and how
of object investigation and the personal stories associated with the history of the pairs
of shoes in the Museum s collection (Smithsonian). More importantly, besides the
helpful videos, images and programs, the site shows the many ways to stay in contact
with the Museum. For example, educators from the National Museum of American
History are active users of Edmodo (Smithsonian). This allows educators nationwide
to have portable access to materials and ideas
Essay about William Butler Yeats
William Butler Yeats. William Butler Yeats was the major figure in the cultural
revolution which developed from the strong nationalistic movement at the end of
the 19th century. He dominated the writings of a generation. He established forms
and themes which came to be considered as the norms for writers of his generation.
Yeats was a confessional poet that is to say, that he wrote his poetry directly from
his own experiences. He was an idealist, with a purpose. This was to create Art for
his own people the Irish. But in so doing, he experienced considerable frustration and
disillusionment. The tension between this ideal, and the reality is the basis of much
of his writing. One central theme of his earlier poetry is the contrast... Show more

In the final stanza, the poet s mood of anger and bitterness changes to one of
acceptance and resignation. He concludes that these petty minded merchants are
so locked into their narrow world of self centred survival, that they are incapable of
understanding the motivation and self sacrifice of patriotism. Even if the dead
heroes could return and confront the merchants with the extent of their sacrifices,
they would be unable to understand or appreciate what they had done. Self interest
and materialism reign, idealism is dead and buried. He concludes on a weary note
of acceptance. But let them be, they re dead and gone, They re with O Leary in the
grave. The Fisherman. This poem is also about Art, and the Irish people s response
to it. It is structured around the contrast between the Yeats dream to write for the
Irish people, and the reality. The poem opens on a casual conversational note,
Although I can see him still introducing us to the Fisherman, a wise and simple
man who is the symbol of the Irish nation he had hoped to write for. Yeats has long
since accepted that such a man does not exist, but nonetheless he holds on to him as
an inspiration to protect himself against the reality. The reality is depicted in a litany
of powerful, clever men, who misuse their abilities for their own personal ends
which are chiefly, the acquisition and maintenance of power. Their goal is public
acclaim, cynically acquired through a popularity based on the Catch cries of the

from training, to leadership programs. They have designed health plans and
wellness programs for employees. To help keep their focus of overall world
health, they are reaching out not just to the consumers but to their employees. The
opportunities and challenges that employees might present are when they think
that their needs are not being met. Opportunities are for the business to build
productive work relationships with the stakeholder (employee). Even though CVS
Health is developing a system with all of the programs they have in place there is
always something that can arise. Employees could feel that a certain need is not
being met, and get together and boycott. This creates a potential threat for the
company to acct immediately and try and resolve the problem. The responsibilities
of the firm to the employees can come in a few different ways. Legally, the
employee needs to have equal rights and pay. Ethically treated with fairness and

The Resource Based View Of A Company Essay
The resource based view of a company focuses on the internal resources and
capabilities of the company and includes the tangible and intangible assets that it
controls (Barney Hesterly 2015, p.64). Strategic evaluation is essential in guiding
a company on its mission and is a continuing process of planning, review and
control involving the appraisal of the company plan and the actual results (Rumelt
1998, p55, p.63). There are four broad criteria to test the company s strategies
potential flaws or failure to perform and these include consistent goals and
strategies, consonance , advantage and feasibility (Rumelt 1998, p56 7). The
quality of appraisal for a company s strategy can be improved by increasing the
capacity for self appraisal and organisational learning (Rumelt 1998, p.62). Single
feedback loops between expected and actual performance can result in controls to
bring the strategy back to normal (Rumelt 1998, p.62). The single feedback loop can
be improved by double feedback loop where a learning cycle is included to modify
the organisational norms that produced the change (Rumelt 1998, p.62). This allows
monitoring of the key variables and continuous modifications and improvements to
strategy when treatments are no longer working (Rumelt 1998, p.62). Strategy
valuation tools may focus on developing strategic alternatives, financial measures of
organisational performance and organisational aspects (Grant et al. 2014, p.401)

Investigating Correlation Between A Solution Salt...
The objective of this experiment is to determine the correlation between a solution s
salt concentration and its density. Also, it was to determine what equipment would be
best to use to measure volume precisely and accurately. Densities of a series of
known salt solutions were trialed three times and then averaged. By following the
procedures, the unknown salt solution was determined and graphed to calculate the
percent salt to the sample.
Introduction
In chemistry there are often times an unknown solution s density must be determined
by using the known solutions. There are a variety of modern ways that chemist use to
determine an unknown, but the simplest method to find the identity is by using a
common equation: p=M/V P is the density, M is the mass, and V is the volume. Once
the densities of the compounds are known, the density of the unknown solution can
be compared to the four known solutions. When being compared the solutions can be
graphed by plotting density against the percentages of NaCl. Once graphed there will
be an evident straight line graph.

Public Employment And A Percentage Of Availability...
Due to reservations, Dalits and schedules castes are provided public employment
and a percentage of availability guaranteed apart from having reserved electoral
districts. With a rapid growth in population, the idea of what a traditional caste is
has shifted from determining ones economic wealth and class status to having a
better idea of where ones stands on the political spectrum which partly benefits
those wishing to politically appeal to the Dalits. Thus, the idea of castes has slowly
shifted from a socio economic status given to one at birth to now, a political strategy
used to form strong political parties and alliances by promising Schedule Classes and
other Backward Classes, who generate much of Indias population, newfound
political change. However, it is not that simple. Although the idea of quotas and
reservations are appealing and a great step towards equalization, through Lecture 2,
it pointed out that these reservations aren t as effective in minimizing the political
disparity between castes. This is in part because when reservations and politics are
combined, it is useless as researcher Jensenius puts it, because politicians are
controlled completely by their parties and will not take action that goes against the
party s beliefs. Although reservations may not be taking effect as quickly as some
had hoped, that does not mean it isn t taking effect at all. The Schedule Classes and
other Backward Classes have been underrepresented while being underprivileged

Pain And Torment In We Wear The Mask
The speaker of We Wear the Mask talks about people covering their pain and
torment by smiling through the pain or hiding their true selves with a mask . They
question why the world should have to see their tears and sighs. The speaker
changes their focus and becomes more emotional, and cries for help for this feeling
of being forced to hide. The speaker cries for help by proclaiming, We smile, but, O
great Christ, our cries To thee from tortured souls arise. (lines 10 11). The repetition
of the word smile shows that they cover the same emotions up with the mask, which
suggests that when they start feeling emotional, they will smile to cover their agony.
When the speaker continues with the phrase O great Christ , they show that they

Daddy Long Legs Vs Spider Research Paper
Spiders V.S. Daddy Long Legs
For many years people have said that Daddy Long Legs are the most poisonous
spiders in the world but their fangs are not long enough to puncture a human s skin. I
find them both equally creepy, but have decided to find out the true differences
between these hair raising, eight legged creatures. Spiders and Daddy long legs are
both arthropods and belong to the arachnid animal class. Although they may look a
lot alike, Daddy Long Legs are not spiders and in fact have several differences from
the spider.
The first difference that can help with identification between these two arachnids
are their body shape. Spiders have two noticeable body segments; they are the
rounded head section and the abdomen. Meanwhile, looking at the Daddy Long
Leg, it looks as if there is only one segment. It appears to have one oval shaped body
segment, but this is because the mid section is much wider and more difficult to see.

Spiders usually have eight eyes; some have six or fewer, located on their face.
Spiders may have more than one set of eyes, but few have good eyesight. The
average spider relies primarily on smelling, touching, tasting and extreme sense of
vibration to find their preys. Whereas, the Daddy Long Leg has only one pair of
eyes, which are located on the top of their heads, with a sideways positioning, so
they can look outward and above their heads. The Daddy Long Legs also have poor
eyesight, and use their longest legs as feelers as they wander about. They also secret

crime syndicate in the United States. The AB was founded in 1964 by Irish bikers
as a form of protection for white inmates in newly desegregated prisons; the AB is
today the largest and deadliest prison gang in the United States, with an estimated of
about 20,000 members inside prisons and on the streets. These members of the AB
gang are found in federal and state prisons. The AB has a motto which is blood in,
blood out. As a crime syndicate, the gang participates in drug trafficking, gambling,
male prostitution rings, and extortion inside prison walls. Although on the streets,
the AB is in every kind of criminal activity, like armed robbery, murder for hire, gun

The Horrible And Gruesome Events Of The Holocaust
The author of Night, a novel documenting the horrible and gruesome events of the
holocaust, Elie Wiesel expresses his experiences and observations in which he and
his fellow Jews were dehumanized while living in concentration camps (a hell on
earth). All Jews, as a race were brutalized by the Nazis during this time; reducing them
to no less than objects, positions which meant nothing to them, belongings that were a
nuisance. Nazis would gather every Jew that they could find and bring them to these
infernos, separating the men and women. Families, not knowing it would never see
each other again. Individuals within the categories were divided even more, based on
their health, strength, and age. They would be judged by a Nazi officer, which would
then decide their fate, if they would have the opportunity to live or if they would be
sentenced strait to execution. In these camps, babies became target practice, being
tossed in the air like an object with no significant value and shot at with no remorse.
The more mature could be sentenced to execution, tossed into pits of fire while fully
conscious burning them alive. In addition, the ones who passed inspection received
treatment as if they were slaves and dogs, making them follow any command, any
disobeying of these demands would consequence them to be shot without hesitation.
These dehumanizing crimes were the punishments forced on the Jewish race by the
Nazi influence, turning Jewish nationality into a nuisance against what they

to the wolf in sheep s clothing we know as religion.
When Charles Darwin first explained the theory of evolution 143 years ago, the
scientists of the time wouldn t accept it as the truth. The amount of evidence that
has proven the theory outweighs any evidence of creationism, from palaeontology,
genetics and zoology. But sadly in the 21st century, we are the most scientifically
advanced race we know of but people still believe in creationism. If 200,000 people
can say they are Jedi or followers of the flying spaghetti monster, which is actually a
real religion. Any person in this room can create a religion if they want. We can
barely call the theory of evolution a theory anymore, the evidence is too abundant

Beowulf Epic Conventions
Epic poems have many distinct conventions that other poems do not. Often they
resemble and have the same conventions of a story. They both focus on the main
character, plot, setting, and even symbols. These conventions are observed in the
Anglo Saxon poem, Beowulf. Throughout Beowulf s struggle three main events make
up the plot: Beowulfs battle with Grendel, Grendel s mother, and the dragon. In the
poem Beowulf, these three distinct events present to the reader the conventions of an
epic poem. Beowulf fit the criteria for an epic poem because supernatural events
occur throughout the poem. There are many elements in Beowulf that are considered
to be supernature. The most prominent would be the appearance of monsters. In the
section read, Grendel and his mother, the swamp hag, are the two monsters Beowulf
must defeat to win his honor. Obviously, the terror from monsters is not a real world
problem, it is merely fiction and fantasy. Not only are the two monsters supernatural
but also Beowulf s abilities while fighting them are supernatural. During his battle
with Grendel, he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sorrowful Geats then build a huge burial mound by the sea in honor of their great

around the tower, telling their sorrow, telling stories of their dead king and his
greatness, his glory, praising him for heroic deeds, for a life as noble as his name

Geats. This section of the story shows the fame after death portion of an epic

Second Largest Subgenre
These are the stories of heroes and villains, manipulation and deceit, and sex and

welcomes readers to peer into a world of crime and violence. Unlike the glamour of

money, and had a burning ambition to succeed. This was evident in his book Sam
Walton, Made in America, My Story. He was a hard working individual who
helped his family through the depression, started his own business from almost
nothing and changed the field of management for ever. Sam Walton was born in
1918 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma during the Great Depression. Sam obtained his
work ethic from his father Thomas Gibson Walton who was a hard worker and had
all sorts of jobs. He was a banker, farmer, farm loan appraiser and an agent for
insurance and real estate. He put in long hours, was honest and was known for his
integrity. Sam also saw what a great... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The overall profit was much greater. By cutting the price, it boosted the sales to a
point where it earned far more at the cheaper retail price than it would had by
selling the item at the higher price. Sam eventually lost the lease on the building
and had to end up selling his first very successful business. It led him to bigger and
better things. Sam moved with his family to Bentonville, Arkansas to open self
service Five Dime store which at that time was a new concept. In 1953 Sam started
his own small family business. The philosophy and strategy of the Walton family
remained. They made decisions on a consensus basis. They controlled the amount of
money paid out; each member getting an equal share. Sam Walton s book attributes
different things to the success of the Wal Mart stores, one of these being his
approach to management. To keep management on their toes and involved, Sam
offered them the opportunity to become limited partners if they would invest in the
store they were to oversee. Since most of the managers of Wal Mart own a piece of
their store, they are naturally more concerned with profit and losses. Sam stated
several times that the single most important ingredient of Wal Mart s success was
taking care of the people in the store, then they will in turn take care of the customer.

In 1492, Christopher Columbus founded an island in the western Atlantic Ocean
and he named it Hispaniola. Hispaniola was inhabited by the Arawaks, and they
were the ones responsible for later giving Haiti its name. Haiti soon became one of
France s most prosperous colonies in the America s, and it also became one of the
world s leading chief coffee and sugar producers. Around the 18th century settlement
began to expand here, and Haitiwas settled by Creoles, slaves, Frenchmen, and freed
blacks. Around this time, the Haitian society was undergoing some tough times and a
debate over power had begun. The concern with governmental authority was a major
problem, and within a short period of time, a revolt for independence had broken out,

With all of the problems in Haiti continuing to add up, it is very difficult for Haiti
to rebuild their economy, and make it out of the present state in which they are
currently in (Shah). Though Haiti has been full of hardships and nothing seems to
go right there, it is still full of very talented people who use their experiences to
benefit themselves, and inform others of their life experiences. These people tell
their stories thorough various ways, and some of the most effective ways include
writing books and poems. One of the most renowned authors from Haiti is a woman
named Edwidge Danticat. Danticat was born on January 19, 1969 in Port au Prince,
Haiti. At the age of two her father moved to the United States with the intentions of
finding work, and two years later her mother did the same. While her parents were
away, Danticat stayed with her father s brother in the poor section of Port au
Prince. At the age of twelve, she was able to move to Brooklyn and live with her
parents again. Once there, she attended school and had a hard time adjusting to it
due to the fact that she only spoke Creole and the other students made fun of her on
a daily basis. As time progressed and she learned English, Danticat began to write
stories for her high school s newspaper, and this eventually led to her writing stories
for a living. Edwidge Danticat is a renowned author of Haiti because of her vivid

A Summary On The Sunset Manicure
Kleancolor Metallics sunset manicure.
This is the sister manicure to my Kleancolor purple/ blue peacock. These metallic
polishes, simply named Metallic Orange and Metallic Yellow , apply as smoothly
and easily as the blue and purple. The consistency was the same, thick, but not too
thick. These polishes are 2 coaters, but they go on reasonably opaque with the first
coat. Meaning if you re short on time, you could get away with a few thick swipes.
Here I used the same gradient technique, applying one coat of the yellow polish and
gradually blending yellow to orange. I sponged on a bit of Sally Hansen s Copper
Penny to the tips to give the orange polish a bit of sparkle. You know I love to sparkle!
Gradient tutorial: For this tutorial I used colors that obviously don t go together so
that you can see how to make a seamless blend.
[use purple and green, one thick and dark, the other thinner and light.]
First step: After you apply your base coat, your first color coat should ordinarily be
the lightest of the polishes you ve chosen for your gradient. I say usually because
there are plenty of times when you might want to use a darker base color and sponge
a lighter color over it. Since this is a basic tutorial, however, I ll keep it simple.
[pic of nails with base color]
While you re waiting for that coat of color to dry, I suggest applying a latex type
coating or a homemade glue mix to the skin around your nails. You could use tape
also.
Importance Of The First Amendment
The first 10 amendments of the constitution are called the bill of rights. The bill of
rights was created by James Madison. The Bill of Rights were ratified by every
state on December 15, 1791. The bill of rights limits government power so it does
not become a tyrant. The Bill of Rights also prevents the government from restricting
some things like freedom of the press. The Bill of Rights gives U.S. Citizens many
freedoms. The first amendment of the constitution is important because it protects

Similarities Between Bitter Rice And Rocco And His
Brothers
Both Giuseppe De Santis Bitter Rice and Luchino Visconti s Rocco and His
Brothers are stories of unhappy lots attempting to escape their squalid fates by
fleeing their current circumstances for the greener grass on the other side.
Francesca and Walter, the runaway city thieves of Bitter Rice, look for safety
amidst the grueling annual rice harvest provided by the mighty river Po, while the
poor Parondi family of Rocco and His Brothers seek a new life amidst the unfamiliar
urban chaos of Milan. While the two films vary widely in structure Bitter Riceis a
snappy melodrama that traffics a great deal in sex appeal and tells the story of a
single season, whereas Rocco and His Brothers is a sweeping epic set over the
course of years concerning the delicate bonds between family their real similarity
lies in their basic moral center: hard work is a righteous calling, whereas
attempting to skirt work in order to enjoy urban luxuries is a deplorable waste.
Bitter Rice is the story of roles destined for two women; one a hardworking rice
farmer, the other a passive accomplice to a morally bankrupt crook. Over the course
of the film, our two main characters Silvania and Francesca trade places, with
Silvania descending into immorality with the help of two bit thief Walter and
Francesca coming to her senses alongside world weary soldier Marco. Meanwhile,
Rocco and His Brothers eponymous protagonist is an almost saintly figure, sacrificing
personal success and romantic satisfaction
Effects Of Social Isolation On Health
Social interaction is important to every aspect of our life. This is because it
connect people live together in impart for love, friend and support. Social
interaction and social support are one of the important component in predicting
the health and well being. In fact, there is a relation between the degree to which a
person feels connected to others or community and their health. However, some
individuals are short of participation, activity and communication which is a result
of social isolation. This involves low levels of social interaction and it is
associated with reduce quality of life and health. This can led to a serious health
risks in people who are socially isolated whether they are elderly, adult and
children. Therefore, this essay will argue that social isolation adversely affects
health not only on mental, physical but also heal behaviours. One of the effects of
social isolation on human is mental health. The first issue is depression that is a
part of mental disturbance. Cacioppo et al. (cited in Roberts 2014) report that
loneliness is considerably related with depressive symptoms. Also, the Victorian
Population Health Survey (cited in VicHealth 2005) found that people with few
social networks were likely to suffer of psychological distress, which lead to
depression. According to VicHealth, there is a relationship between depression and
developing Alzheimer s disease. Indeed Wilson et al. (cited in Roberts 2014, p. 25)

First Step Pyramid Research Paper
This research paper is about the first step pyramid. This pyramid was built in the
27th century, so you can say it is pretty old. It is a central feature that is in a huge
courtyard surrounded by many memorial and ceremonial figures. It is one of the
first pyramids built. The structure of the pyramid isn t in the best of shape. It has
many crack and loose rocks all over it. This pyramidused to be as high as 62 meters
from the ground. The pyramid has six steps and every one going up gets decreased
in the size. It is square shaped. It is considered one of the largest first pyramids built.
It is located in Saqqara Egypt. Djoser was once a king of the third dynasty. He was
the first r second king but no one is really quite sure about it. Many believed he
ruled for a long time somewhere around 19 20 years. The step pyramid was made

they started off with the first four steps and then added the next top two. Instead of
the square base the mastaba is now a rectangular base. That made a major change
in the structure of the pyramid. The six layers of the pyramid lean in while going

did it take a quick time to accomplish. The stone from this pyramid is very heavy. It

Notes On Commodities And Consumption
Commodities and Consumption
There are many commodities in our life that plays an important part in our daily
consumption. Such commodities link us to the people around the world who produce
these for us. The purpose of this assignment is to choose a produced outside of the
US, and write an essay by conducting research using sources such as use information
directly from the store or company, academic articles/books, the Internet and personal
interviews. The essay will answer questions about the location of commodity, the
corporate entity that controls the production and distribution of that commodity,
labour and the conditions of labour engaged in producing commodity, environmental
consequences of the commodity and the importance of commodity in our lives at US.
Where is the commodity produced? What corporate entity controls the production and

Self Concept Is Our Self Identity Essay
Self concept is our self identity, and is the way that one perceives itself, it includes
both attitudes and the collection of beliefs. Self Concept also branches out into self
image and self esteem. Self image, is the way the person pictures itself. The self
esteem is the way we evaluate ourselves. We identify ourselves by our communication
, and our interactions with others. In other words I think, therefore I am (RenГ©
Descartes; ego cogito, ergo sum ) If a person was to tell another person what they
think they look like, odds are that that person may view himself as what the other
person thinks/views him as. It could either raise or lower the self esteemof the person,
it could also enhance the way we view ourselves, depending on the type of people
the person associates, communicates and experience interactions with them. If a
person associates himself or herself with educated people, he or she will most likely
feel respected. If he or she associates with people of less morals, odds are that that
person may just have a lower self esteem and self image compared to the person that
hangs around overall good people.
It is believed that developing a self concept is essential to perform well in the work
place. A work place involves a constant interaction between its workers and
environment, communication. Believe it or not communication and self esteem are
related, we perceive ourselves based on our own experiences and communication
with others. The people one is surrounded by

If information is power, and it surely is, then a profound and irreversible transfer of

Social Inequality Essay
According to www.investopedia.com The overall effect of economic growth on
social inequality is, like the effect of a marching column: the column advances and
the last rank eventually passes the point which was reached by the vanguard some
time before . This suggests that the richest individuals in society have stayed rich,
or even become richer, but for those who are classified as poor, the majority of
them have stayed the same. The poor continue to make up a large percentage of
the European population. This is largely due to low incomes and employment.
According to www.theindependent.co.uk UK inequality has increased by 42% since
1977 . This is a clear indicator that the gap between the richest and poorest
individuals in society is at its highest level in decades. Social consequences are the
impact of an event or action on a social environment. For example, education. Some
say that belonging to a wealthy family aids in how children do at school. While
education and working hard are seen as important for doing well and getting ahead,
knowing the right people and belonging to a wealthy family can also be critical.
www.teachfirst.org.uk suggests that The link between low income and low academic
attainment is greater in the UK than almost any other developed nation . Within any
society, those with higher incomes tend to do better on a variety of outcomes.
Therefore, there is a social gradient in health, which means that every step up the

Conflict Management Style With Others
Conflict Management Style When considering your conflict management style with
others, be it; personal or professional, we tend to use the style that seems appropriate
to the conflict.
Managing conflict is a difficult task that we all face during our life time, but
becoming aware of your own characteristic style could help determine why conflicts
result exactly the way they do. It helps determine what is a healthy outcome, or not?
Each circumstance is different! Interpersonal conflict is very common with many
relationships. It occurs when two people can not meet in the middle or agree on a
discussion. Cooperation is key to maintaining a healthy debate. More frequently;
when dealing with members of your own family, issues arise that include conflict and
resolution. During this process our true conflict management style appears out of thin
air . (Steve A. Beebe, 2008, p. 191). Our behavior or conflict style tells a lot about
us as humans. It is an important piece of life s puzzles, and how we go about living
a healthy life. Our particular path decides where conflict will lead to, or if it could
be resolved quickly with everyone feeling content. However, our non verbal
behavior could indicate when a person is upset or anoid. This is usually related to
unmet needs or goals (Steve A. Beebe, 2008, p. 191). I participated in a conflict
management style quiz that was created by Reginald Adkins to see what style I
followed. The style that I tend to follow is Harmonizing.

Dostoevsky s The Brothers Karamazov
Throughout the entirety of Dostoevsky s novel, The Brothers Karamazov, the
author chooses to insert lines of poetry in order to give more insight to the
situations he is portraying. Out of all of the Russian poems that were referenced,
this paper will be focusing on the five that, I feel, were the most crucial to the
deeper understanding of the scenes in which they were placed. These poems;
Lermontov s Do not, do not believe in yourself, Pushkin s Demon, Pushkin s Chill
Winds Still Blow, Tiutchev s Silentium, and Nekrasov s Before the Rain will be
discussed. Each of these poems offers insight to the scene, which goes beyond what
was explicitly written by Dostoevsky. Do not, do not believe in yourself gives deeper
insight to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator starts the book by giving a brief background on the Karamazov family
and it is here that Dostoevsky first uses poetry in order to add extra depth to the
introductions. Dostoevsky s first quoted poem is Lermontov s Do not, do not
believe in yourself (8), which is used in discussion of Fyodor Pavlovich
Karamazov s beautiful, intelligent and rich first wife, Adelaida Ivanovna Miusov
(7). The narrator maintains that her running away from Fyodor may never have
happened had it not been for an echo of foreign influence...[and her wanting to]
assess her feminine independence, [and] to go against social conventions (8). In
this, her behavior can be traced back to the chafings of a mind imprisoned (8).
However, this appears to be a misinterpretation of Do not, do not believe in yourself
due to the second and seventh lines of the poem . The second line states that one
should not believe in themselves and the seventh says that you should drain the
worries from your life. (Lermontov) These two lines give the reader the impression
that they should not only disregard personal ambition but also distance themselves
from anything that could cause them to worry. Living by this line of reasoning would
create a static existence and thus be the polar opposite of what the narrator suggested
as Adelaida Ivanovna s cause for running away. For in all actuality the narrator argues
that it is due not only to personal ambition, but also to her wanting more, so that she
runs away. It is in this first quotation that Dostoevsky brings forth one of the themes
of the novel, that being the fallibility of the human

Analysis of Tintern Abbey by William Wordsworth Essay
Analysis of Tintern Abbey by William Wordsworth
William Wordsworth existed in a time when society and its functions were
beginning to rapidly pick up. The poem that he Composed a Few Miles Above

upon his quick paced life by taking a moment to slow down and absorb the beauty of

Wordsworth stood on the cliff not only with the sense of present pleasure ; (63)
but he joyfully anticipated the moments for future years ; (65). He came back to
reality and began to analyze the situation after his reminiscing. Wordsworth
realized that he had lost some guidance and was searching for the presence of
nature when returning to the Wye. He remembered when he used to wander and
roam as free as a roe but as he matured he felt content with tapping into his
memories of his youth because as Wordsworth stated, That time is past? other gifts
have allowed; for such loss, I would believe, abundant recompense ; (83 88). He
realized that he was involved with more mature things in life because he had
become more intelligent through the years and saw nature in the light of his
intelligence. Yet, he insisted that he was still a lover of the meadows and the woods,
and the mountains; and of all that we behold from this green earth ; (102 105) but
indeed, in a more composed way.
Nature played a major role in this poet s life but it was not all about his physical
senses that he took as reality. It was due to the fact that he was a worshipper of
Nature (152) and he knew that nature never did betray (122) him. And those thoughts
were what had comforted and encouraged him to connect with nature through his
mind. He wanted to affirm to his readers that his mind not only receives sensation and

JRR Tolkien s Lord Of The Rings
Fantasy and reality have an immense amount of differences. But, could the two
very well be the same? The answer is obvious. JRR Tolkien, the author of the well
known series, Lord of the Rings states It does not do to leave a live dragon out of
your calculations, if you live near him. Tolkien significantly overwhelms the quote
to portray a similar message. As plans and tactics are placed into action, one must
severely and crucially be as detailed as possible. Imagine living in a mystic world.

Who Is The Captain Of Industry Dbq
Robber Barons In the new industrial age, people such as Andrew Carnegie and JD
Rockefeller played a key role industrializing America. They paved the way for future
industry with their creativity and ambition (Document C 2, historian B, 1953). The
United States would not be as technologically advanced if these poeple didnt come
up with the stratigies that they did. Carnegie was thought to be the industrail hero of
the time, while Rockefeller was thought to be the Oil hero. Although they created the
baseline to all industrial essentials, these poeple were indeed corrupt. These so
called Captains of Industry took advantage of their workers and abused their power.
Such men took advantage of the workers by unfair wages, intense work hours,...

Are College Students Selfish Research
I am going to begin this essay with a simple question, Are college students today
more selfish than previous generations? The simple answer is no. Yet, proving this
very assertion is far less straightforward. Thus, as is customary in law, I will,
instead, prove another assertion that, if proven to be true, answers the ultimate
question; and that assertion is, College students today are far more interconnected
than previous generations due to the rise in technology and social media. First, I
would like to address some of the research supposed to be defending the claims that
today s college students are more selfish. Many experts point to the rise in the
Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI) tests to support the increase in selfishness;
however, there are many flaws with these tests. For one, the sample group was
college psychology majors. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, such acts could be argued to actually be more considerate. It is common
knowledge that third person pronouns are used in writing that aims to be more
persuasive. Take, for example, the way I started this essay. After introducing the
ultimate question of whether college students are more selfish, I didn t say I
believe the simple answer is no, I said The simple answer is no. Such a use of the
third person apart from the first person is far more persuasive and leaves much less
at question. In such a context as this, where I am trying to persuade, that is common
practice. However, in other forms of literature, authors may seek not to persuade.
Even more, we must note the increased levels of political efficacy and the use of
politically accurate terminology in modern society. Thus, an increase in the use of I
could, in fact, be considered more considerate as it is not pushing the beliefs of the
author onto the reader, and is, instead, simply stating the belief to which they
Similarities And Differences Between My Last Duchess

Lover and or Last
(A analysis of the similarities and differences in My Last Duchess and Porphyria s
Lover)
Murders always have rational motives for murder, and murders always have some
kind of personal relation with their victim (Schmid). It is both horrifying and
interesting that the majority of victims have a close, personal correlation with their
murderers. In My Last Duchess by Robert Browning is a dramatic monologue in
which a Duke addresses the agent of a Count about the possible marriage between
him and the Count s daughter. However, before the Duke can make the decision to
marry or not to marry the Count s daughter he briefs the agent of the Count about
his last Duchess. The Duke wants to make sure that the next woman he will marry
will be submissive and won t give him any trouble, unlike his last Duchess. In
Porphyria s Lover by Robert Browning is another dramatic monologue where a very
upset man is sitting in his cottage in the outskirts of town, with the fire out, and waits
for his girlfriend Porphyria to return home from a ... Show more content on

In My Last Duchess and in Porphyria s Lover both speakers have a very unstable
and disturbing mental state. In My Last Duchess and in Porphyria s Lover both
speakers demonstrate no remorse for the immoral acts they committed. In My Last

however, in Porphyria s Lover, Porphyria s lover directly admits that he strangled
and murdered Porphyria in their cottage. Do you believe these two speakers have a
disturbing mental state? Is there a difference between love and obsession? Can
someone become so obsessed with another that they feel that if they are not with
them, then they deserve to be with no one else? While, in this case, the attraction

Reflective Essay On Heterosexism
Heterosexism is something that I have not realized throughout the majority of my
life. To me, it has always been an underlying, but mostly invisible issue. My
viewpoint has radically changed since starting my undergraduate career, and has
continued to evolve throughout the following years. These readings have showcased
different aspects that I have not been aware of previously, as will be discussed
further below.
Heterosexism is not something that I have extensively thought of before, or really
thought about in general other than in passing thought. In my hometown,
heterosexism is something that is apparent to me now that I have realized what it
is. There are blatant examples that I was not aware of growing up, other than
casually wondering why one of my female friends was being treated differently
than I was. I naively put it down to her being more of a tomboy than I was, and it
did not come to mind to believe that people could be so homophobic to both her, and
to a couple other homosexual individuals that I was aware of growing up. I now
understand that homophobia is rampant throughout my hometown, and it is often
very frustrating to me to see individuals being treated differently based on who they
are in a relationship with. Even knowing my frustration and the reasoning behind it, it
is difficult for me to speak up against this treatment. I know that this is something that
I need to work on, but am unsure of how to respond to individuals who make those
comments.

Faith In The Odyssey
Joseph was one of the 12 sons fathered by Jacob. He was the first born son of Jacob
and Rachel. Joseph was much younger than his brothers and highly loved and
favored by his father. Jacob gave Joseph an ornate robe that displayed that
nepotism. Joseph had some pretty momentous dreams when he was only 17 years
old. His dreams indicated that his brothers were going to bow down to him. Joseph
told his family of his dreams in an attempt to seek the meaning behind them. Jacob s
favoritism caused his sons to be jealous. Joseph s brothers decided to sell him into
slaveryto an Egyptian man, named Potiphar. Joseph excelled at everything he did.
Potiphar put Joseph in charge of his home. Joseph grew up to be a very handsome
man. Potiphar s wife coveted him, but Joseph would not commit sin against
Potiphar or God, so the wife had him thrown in prison. He continued to exceed
while in prison. He interpreted dreams for prisoners and eventually Pharaoh.

Joseph represents faith as many of the characters do in the Bible. God blessed
Joseph with the capacity to excel in every situation. God gave Joseph intelligence
and an ability to interpret dreams. All of these blessings were given to Joseph in
order for him to save his family from the seven years of famine. The story of
Joseph shows how the will of God is done through people and events. The reason
the story of Joseph is so significant is because these events lead up to the Hebrew
people settling in Goshen. Goshen is where the Israelites reside centuries later
where they are oppressed and become slaves of the state. Joseph sets the stage for
Moses. Moses rescues the firstborn of God, the Israelites. Moses also provides
mankind with the commandments giving people their first laws literally set in
Research Paper On The Globe Theatre
The Globe Theatre was one of the most famous theaters of all time. It was famous for
being the main location of many Shakespearian plays, for having a unique
architectural layout from other buildings, and for being a main attraction for many
people during the Elizabethan Era and the Modern Era.
The Globe theatre was built in 1599 and is very famous for having a unique
architectural layout that was different from other buildings during the time period.
It was built from oak, deal, and stolen playhouse frames. It is a large circular
structure that is three stories tall and has a straw covered roof. It looks similar to
what a football stadium looks like today because the middle of the theatre is open.
The Globe theatre was built to hold about 3,000 people. Construction of the theatre
was started by Cuthbert Burbage because the lease on an older theatre had expired.
The location of the Globe Theatre was not actually in the central part of London but
rather in an outlying district called Southwark on the Thames River.
пїјThe Globe Theatre was the main spot where Shakespearian plays were performed
during the Elizabethan Era. The first play that is known to be shown in the Globe
Theatre was Julius Caesar in 1599. Many other plays such as Hamlet, Macbeth, and

This assignment will introduce different areas of the music industry and should on

Also in this modern digital age there are no other routes available via the Internet
whereby the whole Record Company bit can be bypassed; smaller acts are
building up a following by doing live gigs and home studio recordings and then
building up their fan base on websites such as FaceBook, MySpace, 2ndLife,
BroadJam and releasing their music as pay for downloads freeing them up from
the costly recording and distribution process. These acts are also looking after their
own Music Publishing as well, keeping a bigger share of any eventual royalties
(these are discussed in depth later in this essay). Huge bands such as RadioHead are
also jumping on to the Internet bandwagon, releasing their latest album as В‘pay

of the Industry.
1. Music Publishing:
Once an artist/group has written a song they have created 2 distinct components (a)
the lyrics and (b) the music or musical score/notation В– i.e. the melody that
accompanies that song, unless obviously it is an instrumental (e.g. The Shadows).
The song could be co written by different members of the band, or the lyrics written

Analysis Of The Movie Where The Boys Are
While changing social attitudes toward female sexuality and premarital sex are in
part responsibility for the changing portrayals of the women in Where the Boys Are
and Where the Boys Are 84, an evolution of industry policy is also a major factor.
One element that greatly influence the 1960 s version of the filmis the Production
Code. The Production Code, also known as the Hay s Code for its creator, was a
set of rules and regulations governing motion picture censorship created by the
Motion Picture Products and Distributors of America (MPPDA) (Pollard 2009).
From 1934 to 1968, films had to be approved by the MPPDA to be shown in
mainstream theaters. At its most simple the code required that correct standards of
life, subject only the requirements of drama and entertainment shall be presented
(Pollard 2009). However, despite these restriction, films still found ways to speak
about forbidden topics. Instead of being blatantly discussed, sexuality was often
alluded to (Stern and Brown 2008).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This restriction can be seen in the narrative progression of Where the Boys Are.
While the film is able to imply a promiscuous character in Melanie, she is forced to
suffered through implied date rape and a suicide attempt. Even as the code began to
loosen in the mid 1960s, teen sexuality was still portrayed in an idealistic manner.
Beach films, a popular teen genre in the late 1950s and early 1960s, that included
the original Where the Boys Are, were praised for lots of flesh but no sex...virginity

Witch Crazy Essay
In England, during the 15th and 16th centuries, the previously underground and
ignored practice of witchcraft became an offense that was punishable by death.
Women were the majority of the citizens who were tried for the crime of witchcraft.
The belief that they were given their supernatural powers by the devil and aimed to
crush all Christian values and people caused their excessive persecution.1 This paper
will explain why most individuals accused of witchcraftin England were women and

secondary sources from various historical backgrounds. King James I was particularly

James blamed witchcraft on the incident involving his ship because he thought
witches were trying to kill him.4 King James was not only ruler of England, but
was also considered a scholar with published scholarly works. In 1597, he
published his written documents called Daemonologie. According to King James
the arguments for suspected witchcraft were, By knitting sundry kinds of herbs to
the hair or tails of the goods; by curing the worm, by stemming of blood, by healing
of horse crooks or doing of such like innumerable things by words, without applying
anything meet to the part offended, as mediciners do. 5 The King obviously
considered himself an expert on witchcraft and he believed that these activities were
the hallmarks of a witch whose mission was to harm others. Author Ankarloo writer
of Witchcraft and Magic in Europe, believes that the witch trials in Edinburgh
influenced heavily on King James when writing his work, and that God made him a
judge in witchcraft issues.6 These documents explain King James s fear of witches
and why he felt they should be eradicated from the earth was because of their bond
with Satan. The document is, in my opinion, a justification by James to gather
support for his witch hunt crusade. Reginald Scot, an Englishman born in 1538 had
been observing the witch trials that were common during
The Effects Of Sex Industry On South Africa s Human...
Commoditizing sex is not a novel concept, it has been around for much of our
history, and yet there is much more talk of the sex industry in modern society than
it has been in the past. Part of the reason for this has been the oversexualization of
Hollywood and the belief that fame is a commodity. Even fleeting fame is idolized,
and people ignore the means of achieving fame at the prospect of earning those
alluring so called fifteen minutes of fame . The film Hot Girls Wanted exemplifies
this concept. Both this film and Don t Shout Too Loud display the dark side of the
business; the two films to varying degrees. The latter film explored human trafficking
as an institution and focused more specifically on the impact the World Cup made on
South Africa s human trafficking problem. Each film impacted my personal
understanding of the sex industry. Discussion of the sex industry contemporaneously
takes a much more casual tone than in years past. The combination of this relaxed
attitude with outright statements defending their involvement in the sex industry as
liberating and voluntary led me to extrapolate that as a whole, this was an industry of
progress which was on the rise. I believed that consent was universal in this business
and never particularly found need to question why or under what circumstances
people became involved in that trade. After watching Hot Girls Wanted, and
especially Don t Shout Too Loud, I learned that my belief was fundamentally
incorrect. Every
The Inspiration Of Elvis Presley And The American Dream
When one thinks of Elvis Presley, he or she may think of the line I m all shook up,
his signature white flamboyant jumpsuit, or his stereotypical movies. However,
Elvis was much more than a singer, he was an influence and an inspiration that
paved the way for a new era of music as well as an age of acceptance. He can be
considered one of the greatest musicians of all time not only because he won
countless awards and honors, but because he also helped to merge African and
Caucasian America, represented the American dream, and inspired many other
successful musicians. Elvis s excessive popularity resulted in countless awards and

This is believed to be what inspired him to become a white man with the Negro sound
and the Negro feel. ( Elvis Presley Biography ) Early in his career, it was discovered
that he could perform blues songs while also keeping his southern roots. This unique
blend of styles along with Elvis s popularity became a catalyst for a musical
revolution. Black music needed to be introduced by a white artist in order to appeal
to an audience outside of the African Americancommunity, and Elvis was the one
who could do it (McKeen). He had the charisma, the charm, the look, and the
moves. During the rise of his fame, Elvis was invited to be on Milton Berle s
Variety Show. On his second appearance, his promiscuous dance moves, mostly
involving the gyrating of his hips, deemed him inappropriate for audiences by
CBS. This prompted Elvis to only be televised from the waist up, which in turn
built anticipation for his shows. He was sexual, sensual, rude, and the best thing to
happen in years. (Partridge, 26) He would also become friends with African
American artists who he would then endorse at public events, concerts, interviews,
and television appearances. This helped to spread African American music to
primarily Caucasian areas of the country. The use of the radio had a massive impact
on this spread, it even helped Elvis develop his interest in the African American
sound. When Elvis was growing up, segregation laws were enforced. Schools, seats

The World Is Becoming More Complex Day By Day Essay
Present world is now just like a village and countries are family of that village. In a
word, world is in the hand of human beings today through the blessing of science.
Our world is becoming more complex day by day.so when we take any decision it
must influences other factors. We take different policy or decision everyday by

personal interest or benefits.

Load a truck 36 m3 / load with Shovel 480 m3 / hr to get 0.075 hr/load. Dump time by a truck in hr is given as 1.7 min or 0.028 hr. Calculations| Shovels| Trucks| Hr / load | 0.024 | 0.28 | Load time for a truck / shovel by hr | 0.075 | Dump time for truck by hr | 0.028 | Trip time for truck without load and dump time by hr | 0.177 | The whole trip takes 0.28 hrs or 16.8 mins . Trip= time taken to load truck by shovel + time taken from shovel to crusher+ time taken for dumping+ time taken to drive back from crusher to shovel. So 0.28 = 0.075+ time taken between shovel and crusher (twice) + 0.028 So time taken between shovel and crusher (twice) is 0.177 hrs, so each trip takes 0.0885hrs (5.31 mins). Exhibit 8 Distribution of crusher delays during day shift From summary Statistics, we found that: * Mean Delay = 12.86 minutes = 0.214 hrs * Number of Delays = 332 * Sampling Interval = 120
  • 3. Women Are Oppressed And The Middle East In the United States, what comes to our mind about the Middle East (Iraq, Afghanistan and Iran)? Do you think of unequal treatment for women? Do you think of terrorist? There a lot of stereotypes when we think about the Middle East. Sometimes, we cannot always believe what we hear on the news. The stereotypes that we commonly use is that women are being oppressed, and the whole country is filled up with terrorists. Why do we think that women are oppressed in the Middle East? One way that we could think that s women are oppressed is because they are being treated unequally from the men in the Middle East. Women are inferior to those of males in the Middle East to some people s eyes. Men get to have the respect from the women. When the news comes up in the United States, we observe women staying at home making dinner and being a caretaker for the children. Westernizers (us) think that they are uneducated women because they does not time and money to spend on education .Some religious beliefs are that some men should think women s role is to take care of the children. Also, another event that could impact a woman s life is arranged marriage and sometimes we think that they could never have a great life if they are arranged to marry someone they do not like. In some people biographies through the news, I heard that sometimes they have to marry at a young age as young as 14. During the marriage, we tend to think they have treated the men like they have the authority of what

Essay on Exploring Basilicas and Churches in Rome Exploring Basilicas and Churches in Rome Rome is the home of one of the largest cathedrals in the world, St. Peter s; however, it is also the home of many other beautiful churches and basilicas. Some of these include basilicas such as: Santa Maria Maggiore, St. Giovanni in Lateran, and St. Peter in Chains and churches like St. Peter Outside the Walls and San Giuseppe del Falegnami/ Mamertine Prison. These churches and basilicas through their history, art, architecture, and relics or tombs of saints create a rich and intriguing history of ancient Rome. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is in the site of ancient gardens and is located on top of Esquiline Hill (Nyborg 1). ART AND ARCHITECTURE: St. Mary Major is dedicated to Mary and is known for its beautiful architecture and art or mosaics. It has the highest bell tower in Rome, which is 75 meters tall and in the Romanesque style. The basilica s architecture includes different styles ranging from early Christian to later periods such as Baroque. The structure contains three naves supported by the original Athenian marble columns (Wild 403). It also boasts of such artists as Ferdinando Fuga, who designed the front faГ»ze and other parts of the basilica including the Chapel of the Holy Relics in 1750; Filippo Rusuti, who designed the mosaics behind the faГ»ze; and Michelangelo, who designed the Sforza Chapel. It contains many beautiful mosaics, which depict different scenes such as the legend of the snowfall (above the altar and on the bottom of the facade) and the icon of the Virgin Mary, which is located in the Pauline Chapel. According to legend, the apostle Luke sculpted it (however, there is no historical proof of this). Also, the ceiling is in gilded gold and designed by Sangallo and is some of the first gold brought over to the New World under Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain (Nyborg 2 3, 6 7). • 5. Introduction. The Website I Chose To Analyze Is The... Introduction The website I chose to analyze is the Smithsonian s History Explorer. I have always been interested in history and the lessons from the past that still affect us in the present (and will affect us in the future). After clicking through the website, I saw an array of interesting topics that can certainly help the educator and shape the classroom. I wanted to see if the website itself was user friendly for I find that it s easy to lose interest if the site you re on has distracting pop ups or have links that do not work. On top of the Webinars, there are also links to the programs that bring Museum staff to communities nationwide, such as the Smithsonian s Let s Do History Tour , where the staff visit school district nationwide to share effective, exciting teaching techniques and K 12 resources free of charge (Smithsonian). If given the opportunity, a school district s educators can interact and learn from the Museum staff directly with regards to the available resources from the Museum s site. This can enhance the history educators expertise on the subjects they teach; they can see hands on how they can use these very resources in their classroom and they can ask questions to the staff to ensure the effectiveness of the materials and frameworks they are presented. Another example of a resource found on this page, If You Walked in My Shoes teaching poster presents the students with the who, what, where, when, why and how of object investigation and the personal stories associated with the history of the pairs of shoes in the Museum s collection (Smithsonian). More importantly, besides the helpful videos, images and programs, the site shows the many ways to stay in contact with the Museum. For example, educators from the National Museum of American History are active users of Edmodo (Smithsonian). This allows educators nationwide to have portable access to materials and ideas
  • 6. Essay about William Butler Yeats William Butler Yeats. William Butler Yeats was the major figure in the cultural revolution which developed from the strong nationalistic movement at the end of the 19th century. He dominated the writings of a generation. He established forms and themes which came to be considered as the norms for writers of his generation. Yeats was a confessional poet that is to say, that he wrote his poetry directly from his own experiences. He was an idealist, with a purpose. This was to create Art for his own people the Irish. But in so doing, he experienced considerable frustration and disillusionment. The tension between this ideal, and the reality is the basis of much of his writing. One central theme of his earlier poetry is the contrast... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the final stanza, the poet s mood of anger and bitterness changes to one of acceptance and resignation. He concludes that these petty minded merchants are so locked into their narrow world of self centred survival, that they are incapable of understanding the motivation and self sacrifice of patriotism. Even if the dead heroes could return and confront the merchants with the extent of their sacrifices, they would be unable to understand or appreciate what they had done. Self interest and materialism reign, idealism is dead and buried. He concludes on a weary note of acceptance. But let them be, they re dead and gone, They re with O Leary in the grave. The Fisherman. This poem is also about Art, and the Irish people s response to it. It is structured around the contrast between the Yeats dream to write for the Irish people, and the reality. The poem opens on a casual conversational note, Although I can see him still introducing us to the Fisherman, a wise and simple man who is the symbol of the Irish nation he had hoped to write for. Yeats has long since accepted that such a man does not exist, but nonetheless he holds on to him as an inspiration to protect himself against the reality. The reality is depicted in a litany of powerful, clever men, who misuse their abilities for their own personal ends which are chiefly, the acquisition and maintenance of power. Their goal is public acclaim, cynically acquired through a popularity based on the Catch cries of the

Opportunities are for the business to build productive work relationships with the stakeholder (employee). Even though CVS Health is developing a system with all of the programs they have in place there is always something that can arise. Employees could feel that a certain need is not being met, and get together and boycott. This creates a potential threat for the company to acct immediately and try and resolve the problem. The responsibilities of the firm to the employees can come in a few different ways. Legally, the employee needs to have equal rights and pay. Ethically treated with fairness and respect. • 8. The Resource Based View Of A Company Essay The resource based view of a company focuses on the internal resources and capabilities of the company and includes the tangible and intangible assets that it controls (Barney Hesterly 2015, p.64). Strategic evaluation is essential in guiding a company on its mission and is a continuing process of planning, review and control involving the appraisal of the company plan and the actual results (Rumelt 1998, p55, p.63). There are four broad criteria to test the company s strategies potential flaws or failure to perform and these include consistent goals and strategies, consonance , advantage and feasibility (Rumelt 1998, p56 7). The quality of appraisal for a company s strategy can be improved by increasing the capacity for self appraisal and organisational learning (Rumelt 1998, p.62). Single feedback loops between expected and actual performance can result in controls to bring the strategy back to normal (Rumelt 1998, p.62). The single feedback loop can be improved by double feedback loop where a learning cycle is included to modify the organisational norms that produced the change (Rumelt 1998, p.62). This allows monitoring of the key variables and continuous modifications and improvements to strategy when treatments are no longer working (Rumelt 1998, p.62). Strategy valuation tools may focus on developing strategic alternatives, financial measures of organisational performance and organisational aspects (Grant et al. 2014, p.401) 4.2Evaluative Models The
  • 9. Investigating Correlation Between A Solution Salt... The objective of this experiment is to determine the correlation between a solution s salt concentration and its density. Also, it was to determine what equipment would be best to use to measure volume precisely and accurately. Densities of a series of known salt solutions were trialed three times and then averaged. By following the procedures, the unknown salt solution was determined and graphed to calculate the percent salt to the sample. Introduction In chemistry there are often times an unknown solution s density must be determined by using the known solutions. There are a variety of modern ways that chemist use to determine an unknown, but the simplest method to find the identity is by using a common equation: p=M/V P is the density, M is the mass, and V is the volume. Once the densities of the compounds are known, the density of the unknown solution can be compared to the four known solutions. When being compared the solutions can be graphed by plotting density against the percentages of NaCl. Once graphed there will be an evident straight line graph. Experimental General Methods and Materials. Materials: 1.NaCl solutions of the following strengths: 6% 12% 18%, 24% 2.Unknown brine solution 3.Volumetric flasks, small beakers, droppers, 10 mL and 50 mL graduated cylinders 4.Scale that measures mass in grams Procedure. For this experiment, the first task was to determine which equipment would be used to measure volume accurately. The choices were a 10.0 mL
  • 10. Public Employment And A Percentage Of Availability... Due to reservations, Dalits and schedules castes are provided public employment and a percentage of availability guaranteed apart from having reserved electoral districts. With a rapid growth in population, the idea of what a traditional caste is has shifted from determining ones economic wealth and class status to having a better idea of where ones stands on the political spectrum which partly benefits those wishing to politically appeal to the Dalits. Thus, the idea of castes has slowly shifted from a socio economic status given to one at birth to now, a political strategy used to form strong political parties and alliances by promising Schedule Classes and other Backward Classes, who generate much of Indias population, newfound political change. However, it is not that simple. Although the idea of quotas and reservations are appealing and a great step towards equalization, through Lecture 2, it pointed out that these reservations aren t as effective in minimizing the political disparity between castes. This is in part because when reservations and politics are combined, it is useless as researcher Jensenius puts it, because politicians are controlled completely by their parties and will not take action that goes against the party s beliefs. Although reservations may not be taking effect as quickly as some had hoped, that does not mean it isn t taking effect at all. The speaker cries for help by proclaiming, We smile, but, O great Christ, our cries To thee from tortured souls arise. (lines 10 11). Daddy Long Legs For many years people have said that Daddy Long Legs are the most poisonous spiders in the world but their fangs are not long enough to puncture a human s skin. I find them both equally creepy, but have decided to find out the true differences between these hair raising, eight legged creatures. Spiders and Daddy long legs are both arthropods and belong to the arachnid animal class. Although they may look a lot alike, Daddy Long Legs are not spiders and in fact have several differences from the spider. The first difference that can help with identification between these two arachnids are their body shape. Spiders have two noticeable body segments; they are the rounded head section and the abdomen. Meanwhile, looking at the Daddy Long Leg, it looks as if there is only one segment. It appears to have one oval shaped body segment, but this is because the mid section is much wider and more difficult to see. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Horrible And Gruesome Events Of The Holocaust The author of Night, a novel documenting the horrible and gruesome events of the holocaust, Elie Wiesel expresses his experiences and observations in which he and his fellow Jews were dehumanized while living in concentration camps (a hell on earth). All Jews, as a race were brutalized by the Nazis during this time; reducing them to no less than objects, positions which meant nothing to them, belongings that were a nuisance. Nazis would gather every Jew that they could find and bring them to these infernos, separating the men and women. Families, not knowing it would never see each other again. Individuals within the categories were divided even more, based on their health, strength, and age. They would be judged by a Nazi officer, which would then decide their fate, if they would have the opportunity to live or if they would be sentenced strait to execution. In these camps, babies became target practice, being tossed in the air like an object with no significant value and shot at with no remorse. The more mature could be sentenced to execution, tossed into pits of fire while fully conscious burning them alive. In addition, the ones who passed inspection received treatment as if they were slaves and dogs, making them follow any command, any disobeying of these demands would consequence them to be shot without hesitation. These dehumanizing crimes were the punishments forced on the Jewish race by the Nazi influence, turning Jewish nationality into a nuisance against what they

They both focus on the main character, plot, setting, and even symbols. These conventions are observed in the Anglo Saxon poem, Beowulf. Social consequences are the impact of an event or action on a social environment. For example, education. Some say that belonging to a wealthy family aids in how children do at school. While education and working hard are seen as important for doing well and getting ahead, knowing the right people and belonging to a wealthy family can also be critical. www.teachfirst.org.uk suggests that The link between low income and low academic attainment is greater in the UK than almost any other developed nation . Conflict Management Style With Others Conflict Management Style When considering your conflict management style with others, be it; personal or professional, we tend to use the style that seems appropriate to the conflict. Managing conflict is a difficult task that we all face during our life time, but becoming aware of your own characteristic style could help determine why conflicts result exactly the way they do. It helps determine what is a healthy outcome, or not? Each circumstance is different! Interpersonal conflict is very common with many relationships. It occurs when two people can not meet in the middle or agree on a discussion. Cooperation is key to maintaining a healthy debate. More frequently; when dealing with members of your own family, issues arise that include conflict and resolution. During this process our true conflict management style appears out of thin air . (Steve A. Beebe, 2008, p. 191). Our behavior or conflict style tells a lot about us as humans. It is an important piece of life s puzzles, and how we go about living a healthy life. Our particular path decides where conflict will lead to, or if it could be resolved quickly with everyone feeling content. However, our non verbal behavior could indicate when a person is upset or anoid. This is usually related to unmet needs or goals (Steve A. Beebe, 2008, p. 191). Dostoevsky s The Brothers Karamazov Throughout the entirety of Dostoevsky s novel, The Brothers Karamazov, the author chooses to insert lines of poetry in order to give more insight to the situations he is portraying. Out of all of the Russian poems that were referenced, this paper will be focusing on the five that, I feel, were the most crucial to the deeper understanding of the scenes in which they were placed. These poems; Lermontov s Do not, do not believe in yourself, Pushkin s Demon, Pushkin s Chill Winds Still Blow, Tiutchev s Silentium, and Nekrasov s Before the Rain will be discussed. Each of these poems offers insight to the scene, which goes beyond what was explicitly written by Dostoevsky. Do not, do not believe in yourself gives deeper insight to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The narrator starts the book by giving a brief background on the Karamazov family and it is here that Dostoevsky first uses poetry in order to add extra depth to the introductions. Dostoevsky s first quoted poem is Lermontov s Do not, do not believe in yourself (8), which is used in discussion of Fyodor Pavlovich Karamazov s beautiful, intelligent and rich first wife, Adelaida Ivanovna Miusov (7). The narrator maintains that her running away from Fyodor may never have happened had it not been for an echo of foreign influence...[and her wanting to] assess her feminine independence, [and] to go against social conventions (8). In this, her behavior can be traced back to the chafings of a mind imprisoned (8). However, this appears to be a misinterpretation of Do not, do not believe in yourself due to the second and seventh lines of the poem . The second line states that one should not believe in themselves and the seventh says that you should drain the worries from your life. (Lermontov) These two lines give the reader the impression that they should not only disregard personal ambition but also distance themselves from anything that could cause them to worry. Living by this line of reasoning would create a static existence and thus be the polar opposite of what the narrator suggested as Adelaida Ivanovna s cause for running away. For in all actuality the narrator argues that it is due not only to personal ambition, but also to her wanting more, so that she runs away. It is in this first quotation that Dostoevsky brings forth one of the themes of the novel, that being the fallibility of the human

Black music needed to be introduced by a white artist in order to appeal to an audience outside of the African Americancommunity, and Elvis was the one who could do it (McKeen). He had the charisma, the charm, the look, and the moves. During the rise of his fame, Elvis was invited to be on Milton Berle s Variety Show.
