Mood is the feeling that a story gives a reader, and Norman Maclean s writing is
brimming with it. The mood shifts throughout the entire story as well. Toward the
beginning there is always a lighthearted and fun mood to the story. He was last off
the train, and he came down the platform trying to remember what he thought an
international cup tennis player looked like (Maclean 32). This quote describes
Neal when he first dismounted the train in Montana. Norman s tone in this passage
suggests that he disliked Neal. He critiques Neal s ridiculous looks and comes to

women squatted on the floor of the box, and had been making sandwiches until

trip did not go well. Norman left Neal earlier after Neal refused to fish with him. It
was mainly Neal s fault, but the women blamed Norman and did not let him inside

danger in the situation but that Norman is being punished for Neal s illness.

scene, we see inequality across the zones of Dayton and New Greenwich.
The director uses a range of camera techniques to show Will getting interrogated to
create suspense and a clear power struggle. We see a long shot of Will Salas when
he is getting questioned by the timekeeper Raymond Leon. Will is now suddenly
trapped and is forced to be seated into a substantial plush chair. The setting is green
painted room with gold incorporated into the decor. The long shot then transitions
into a high angle shot. Through the shot, we can see guards positioned on either
side of Will. This emphasizes that Will has been ambushed and is overpowered

Children, Marriage and Love are the three main factors of the two short stories, A
Sorrowful Woman by Gail Godwin, and A Secret Sorrow by Karen van der Zee.
Two relationships at risk because of children. Neither of them knows what to do but
try to find solutions to solve their problems. They end up having different outcomes.
In both stories, both woman face a major issue. In Godwin s story the main female
character is suffering depression and always feeling sad and tired from being around
her child and taking care of him and her husband. However, Faye in van der Zee s
story is struggling with, her reality of not being able to have children and she s
afraid of marrying her boyfriend, who is madly in love with her, because she s afraid
of disappointing him. Both woman are unsure how to handle their problem and their
first instinct is to keep their distance and avoid their issues. Communication also
played a huge role in both situations. In A Secret Sorrow Kai wouldn t let Faye just
walk away from him without knowing what was wrong and wanted an explanation.

The proposed filter uses a single layer metasurface fabricated 67 on a thin, ground
plane backed dielectric substrate. The device is designed to anomalously reflect an

(from a given, known direction) towards a desired direction 70 over a desired

normal reflector, reflecting the 72 incident wave in the specular reflection
direction thereby 73 missing the intended receiver. The net effect of this concept
