Slavery And Colonial Rule During Colonialism
Slavery and Colonial Rule
During the years of European colonialism in Africa, slavery was used as the main source of labor for
various colonial projects. Slaves worked on various levels of service to the colonial powers, especially
the French. These include working on plantations and military service. Even though the French and
the British were profiting from the labor and oppression of Africans, they soon faced opposition for
their use of slavery as a tool for economic gain. In this essay, I will explain these elements of slavery
in colonial rule, by detailing information from Martin Klein s Slavery and Colonial Rule in French
West Africa, and Trevor Getz s Slavery and Reform in West Africa. Klein discusses the status of the
slave and the history of mistreatment by Europeans. He focuses on the time when the Portuguese came
to Senegambia during the 1600s. It was during this time that slave labor was being used to feed the
courts of coastal kings as it was used in the medieval empires of the interior. These slaves were enemy
combatants, who were captured and sentenced to work as punishment. The author mentioned that
slaves during this period did not have rights or an official identity. Many of them faced many forms of
persecution and mistreatment. By the time the French had take over, slaves were to be punished by
having the master make them sleep in irons, but if they accepted their status, their condition was
ameliorated. As time passed, and as other markets became

I. Background of the Study
Komatsu had its origin 1894 when the Takeuchi Mining Company was founded. A major expansion
occurred in 1917 when the Komatsu Iron Works was established to manufacture mining equipment

Komatsu had history of good labor relation. Statistics shown that from 1976 to 1981 labor
productivity rose compared to Caterpillar. This high productivity labor force was absolutely one of the
assets of Komatsu.
3. Managerial Philosophy/Leadership Style * As early as 1921, Mr. Takeuchi, founder of Komatsu
stated his two management perspectives; overseas orientation and user orientation . * In 1963, when
Mitsubishi Cat joint venture entered Japan, Yashinari Kawai planned to make his company a
competitor of world s standard. He set the goals; acquisition of the necessary advanced technology
from abroad and the improvement of product quality within the company. He and his son Ryoichi
Kawai conducted negotiations with USSR and China and developed relations with high officials. * In
mid 1980 s, where Caterpillar was on its unprofitable year, Chairman Ryoichi Kawai stated that
Komatsu s success today doesn t mean success for tomorrow. He believes that a company must always

The Concept Of Jesus Being Fully Man
Introduction
The concept of Jesus being fully man but also fully God at the same time has been debated amongst
scholars, both Christians and non Christians alike for centuries. The doctrine and study surrounding
the person of Jesus is known as Christology, and after extensive and often hostile debates the Church
gave a concluding definition of its Christology in 451 CE at the Council of Chalcedon. It was stated
that they affirmed the belief in Jesus Christ as one Person in two natures, which are united without
confusion. The early church was adamant that the Incarnation was one of the most important truths of
the Christian faith.
Maurice Wiles, an Oxford patristic scholar summarised the Chalcedons s aims as follows:
On the other hand was the conviction that a saviour must be fully divine; on the other hand was the
conviction that what is not assumed is not healed. Or, to put the matter in other words, the source of
salvation must be God; the locus of salvation must be humanity. It is quite clear that these two
principles often pulled in opposite directions. The Council of Chalcedon was the church s attempt to
resolve, or perhaps rather to agree to live with, that tension. This essay will examine and critically
analyse this stance alongside answering the question of would it matter if Jesus were not fully God
and fully human? Five specific points will be looked at; Jesus is God, Jesus is man, Jesus is a sinless
man, Jesus will be fully God and man forever, and

Veelaa Magazine Adverts
Velaa: Island for all the Senses Throughout the course of history people developed an obsession over
the idea of paradise. From their deep fascination with the perfect, humans assumed that a utopia might
actually exist and be discovered. Shortly after, people became engrossed in the acquisition of a
possible paradise. The question, today, is what cannot be sold to humans, who would do anything in
order to acquire. Advertisements play a key role into triggering the imagination and desires of the
potential customers. They are intended to retail products, services and even places; but can they sell
the paradise? Apparently, yes, and all that is needed is a deep understanding of the viewer in order to
produce a persuasive depiction of this heaven. When presenting such a utopia, the advertiser will use
different rhetorical and authentic appeals in order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overall, the Velaa magazine ad lacks logical appeal. As seen, this destination is designed for people
that are not limited by money, and who don t put too much value on the special offers or reduced
prices found in most commercials. Nowhere in this advertisement is there price specifications or any
cost mentions that give a detail on the services sold. This ad is targeting a demographics that can
ultimately afford a beyond luxury experience, and of course such an experience comes with its cost.
The mention of latest technology gadgets seems to be addressed towards a more tech focused
audience, but frankly that is not a major fact based resource. The ad presents a list of activities the
client would be able to use with a wide variety of events, but the inclusive price is never specified. As
seen, Velaa Island appears to reproduce a true paradise where money do not represent a problem and
where people don t have to worry about trivial facts or special offers, in order to be able to afford

Hills Like White Elephants Nature Analysis
Going Green: Effect of Nature on Humanity in Hills Like White Elephants Located in the
Northeastern region of France, the Ebro is just as famous for its literary recognition as it is its
geographical significance. Due to Ernest Hemingway s writing of the short story Hills Like White
Elephants in 1927, the valley especially has been critiqued, analyzed, and studied for nearly a century.
The valley itself makes up almost 17% of Spain itself, and is called one of the main physiographic
units in the Iberian Peninsula (El). Thus, it is the perfect setting for a story of life changing decisions.
Most literary critics or theorists choose to anthropomorphize the nature in the story, claiming that the
sides of the valley represent Jig s choice between barren sterility, or fertile ... Show more content on

As a theory, Ecorcritism has one foot in literature and the other on land; as a theoretical discourse, it
negotiates between the human and the non human (Shoba). Hemingway uses the description of the
scenery to inform the reader of both the cultural and social climate surrounding the story and
characters, and ecocrticism can use that scenery to evaluate the effects which location has on
characters and their behaviors. Ebro is in Spain, which was a mostly Catholic country in 1927. At that
time, especially in the Catholic church, contraceptives and abortion was forbidden, and even outlawed
(LeMaire). Those circumstances would explain why the couple was waiting for a train to Madrid.
They were headed to the capital, a city epicenter, where it may have been easier to Jig to find an
illegal abortion. With the valley likely being the last stop before the couple gets to Madrid, the idea of
abortion, as well as the legal and social repercussions, might ve been enough the make Jig anxious and
unsure. The political and cultural climate has just as much of an effects on characters, and the
decisions they make, as does the natural landscape

Witchcraft In The Crucible
Within Macbeth, there are three witches which are supposed sisters. These witches are very symbolic
of demonic thoughts and actions. They consistently lurk among the side lines and implant a sense of
negativity among the characters throughout the entire play. The use of their couplets displayed within
the play also contributes to the whole idea of witchcraft. The most famous line within the play from
the witches would Double, double, toil and trouble, / Fire burn and cauldron bubble . As the witches
speak of a cauldron and fire burning, it is as if they are mentally preparing potions to perhaps bring
disaster upon certain characters. Within The Crucible, there were a series of events that stricken the

Mansa Musa Thesis
The richest man in the history of the world went on a trip to Mecca from Niani, with around 60,000 of
his people, and on the way there gave 2.5% of his 100+ billion dollar fortune to random people he
found on his journey. Mansa Musa was a crazy ruler from Mali who is known to some as the richest
human ever to walk this Earth. Mansa Musa was an eccentric leader who was assigned the objective
of making a holy pilgrimage to Mecca by his god Allah, but he turned a religious trek into a search for
new means of acquiring money and to show off his extensive amount of servants and his seemingly
endless supplies of gold.

King Lear Alzheimer s Disorder Essay
William Shakespeare s tragedy, King Lear is a heart wrenching reminder for people who have lost a
loved one from dementia due to Alzheimer s disease. King Lear is a play whose protagonist, an elderly
man, loses his grip on reality and dies as a result. Lear reveals symptoms of the medical diagnosis,
Major Neurocognitive Disorder due to possible Alzheimer s Disease through his actions, emotions,
words, and from the observations of other characters in the play. The emotional pain of watching a
fictional character quickly unravel due to a degenerative disease that scientists today still don t quite
understand, can manifest into a hauntingly familiar ache for those who have witnessed the disease first
hand.
In the current climate of medical diagnoses, the terminology, dementia, which was previously
accepted in the DSM IV has been replaced in the DSM 5 as a Major NCD a.k.a. Major Neurocognitive
Disorder (607). The DSM 5 estimates that a Major NCD diagnosis occurs in 30% of people who reach
the age of 85 years (609). King Lear falls into this category because in Act 4, Scene 7, he states, I am a
very foolish fond old man, Fourscore and upward, not an hour more nor less (Shakespeare). In other ...

device they are working on. Configuring interfaces with a proper IP, subnet, and descriptions are part
of the basic configuration of a network device.

Tension Between The Colonists And The British
Tensions between the colonists and the british
There are many reasons why the british and the colonies had so much tension between them. Three
events that helped build the tensions between the Colonists and the British were, the British and how
controlling they were. The Boston Massacre and how that came around. Last but not least the war of
1812 were the US finally declared war against Britain. These events all come together to show the
issues between the Colonists and the British. Even though there are a lot more reasons behind these
three were the one that stuck out the most. The british wouldn t let the colonists fight their own wars

Corporal Punishment And Its Usage
Introduction The topic of whether or not parents and teachers should use corporal punishment in the
name of discipline had caught my eye for several reasons. One of the most important reasons is that I
was beaten by a wooden paddle while I was growing up. I was about 12 years of age when my teacher
beats all of my classmates including me just because one of us was misbehaving. That was in
Baghdad, Iraq, where teachers and parents are allowed to use corporal punishment freely without any
fear. Another reason is that I was born in a Catholic well educated family that showed me what love
and respect actually is. Hence, my parents didn t accept what that teacher did and went to tell on her.
They thought that a teacher should never do any kind of physical harm to their children, even if they
used to do so. Therefore, I chose this topic to read more about corporal punishment and its usage in
the United States. The key terms that are important in this paper are defined to give a full
understanding of the issue. The term corporal punishment is defined as the act of disciplining a child
through physical means ( Corporal Punishment , 2006, p.1). However, there is a legal definition that
most states use, which says, Parents are allowed to use reasonable force in physically disciplining their
children ( Corporal Punishment , 2006, p.3). Later on, I will also talk about the effective ways of
disciplining a child that is nonphysical methods. One of them is timeouts which is

on their studies about optics. Both of them have their unique insight into the nature, their curiosity and
persistence have not only drive them to represent what our eyes perceive the reality, but also lead them
to go deep into a philosophical height to unveil both scientific and humanistic reasons underlying the
surface of things. Poussin is considered as the model for rational painting to the French Academy, was
born 1594 in France yet he spent most of his lifetime in Rome. He was the illustrator of the first
published edition of Leonardo s Treatise. If the frontispiece to Poussin s biography reveals the
possible connection of Poussin s study of chiaroscuro; in addition, his interests in optics and colors
could be reflected in his two self portraits.
In Self Portrait I (fig. 1), Poussin stands in front of the of a slab in three quarter profile. His head

Poussin did not employ any palettes or other art tools as props to indicate his identity as a painter,
instead, he was depicted in a black academic gown, holding the book entitled DE LVMINE ET

The problem of Free Will
In the following essay I will describe the problem of free will and explain several different responses
to the problem. These responses will be derived from the determinist, libertarian, and compatibilist
views. I will end the essay by arguing that the compatibilist view seems to best address the problem of
free will, but does not necessarily solve it. The problem of free will arises from two conflicting ideas.
The first idea is that people have free will. Having free will means that people have the ability to
choose and act on what they would like to do. Most people seem accept this idea easily and live their
lives believing that to some extent they are in control of the choices they make. If this idea is true then
people can be held responsible and subsequently praised or blamed for their choices or actions. For
example, a male student named Bob can be blamed for cheating if he chooses to use his notes while
taking his test even though the professor instructed his class to not use their notes. He can be blamed
for cheating because Bob chose to use his notes on his own and no one forced Bob to cheat. The
second of the two conflicting ideas that most people seem to readily accept is known as determinism.
Determinism is at odds with free will because it states that every event has a cause, meaning even the
choices that we make are not caused by ourselves (Conee and Sider 113). In other words, the cause of
something can be indefinitely traced backwards. Science seems to

Difference between the Spanish Settlement of the Southwest...
During the 17th century, many nations started settling all throughout North America. Spanish
conquistadors claimed much of the Southwest, while England began to occupy the Northeast. The
Spanish and English colonies varied in terms of the impact of religion and control of the economy.
The Spanish and English colonies varied in terms of religion such as immigration and opinions on

In exchange, the encomendero could force the Native Americans to pay tribute in forms of bullion and
labor. Eventually, the native people began to die off from the harsh labor and foreign diseases that the
Spanish brought from Spain. The Native Americans rejected Spanish control and returned to their
customs. Angered by this, the Spanish captured 46 Pueblo leaders, which started the Pueblo Revolt.
After years of fighting, the Spanish regained control. In New England, relationships with local Native
Americans started out peaceful. The Native Americans and settlers of New England began to trade
with each other. Native Americans, who were used to their elementary weapons, acquired better
weapons from the Europeans. This once beneficiary exchange between the two cultures eventually
grew tense. As years went on and more settlers came to America, conflicts arose. An agreement
formed between Dutch settlers of New York and the English settlers of New England about the
division of the Pequot lands. When no immediate decisions were reached of who would gain the land,
New Englanders started to settle in the area without notice. The Pequot took this unplanned invasion
as a form of attack, and fought back. After a series of attacks, New England called for reinforcements

Zora Neale Hurston Accomplishments
Considered one of the most important writers of the twentieth century African American literature,
Zora Neale Hurston successfully paved the way for future prominent writers. Through dedication and
hardships in her life, she is famously recognized as an important person during the 1920s for her
writing and role in the Harlem Renaissance. (Zora.com)
Zora Neale Hurston was born January 7, 1891 in Notasulga, Alabama and later moved to Eatonville,
Florida. She lived a happy childhood in her 8 room house and 7 siblings. As a child, she was raised in
an all black community, therefore was never exposed to discrimination. Black achievement flourished

Naval Special Warfare Teamwork
Introduction
Optimal operating organizations are those who embrace teamwork to accomplish shared goals.
Although some organizations are effective, there is always room to improve their efficiency. One main
adaptive challenge is to change the cultural relationship between Navy Sea Air and Land Operators
(SEALs) and the support staff that work within the Naval Special Warfare organization. The personal
beliefs and attitudes of individuals within the community are that the SEALs are held to a separate
standard and get special treatment when it comes to deviating from those standards. There are some

I Attended University Dance Theatre
I attended University Dance Theatre over the weekend, and after just recently becoming interested in
dance and appreciating dance as an art form I was excited to watch a live dance performance. There
were a total of nine dances, each of which, were choreographed by different people. Not surprisingly,
every dance was extremely different, and left the audience feeling different emotions.
It was hard picking two dances that I enjoyed the most because they were all fantastic. I picked two
that were simple, in the sense that anyone could determine the reason behind the dance. The first is
powerful, and the second is humorous. It was interesting breaking down the dances, determining the
choreographic and theatrical elements, and concluding the meaning of the dance if any. My
expectations were high going in, and I was not disappointed. Beginning with the powerful dance in the
first half Still?. Still? was preformed by two African American women. I found this dance interesting
because the music was spoken text by Martin Luther King, Jr. in the beginning and towards the end
was poetry that was spoken with strong emotion. The stage lighting was turned down, almost
completely dark, and the two women had dark clothing, which, indicated sorrow, frustration, and
anger almost. The dancers only used a small portion of the stage with no props and a completely bare
stage the focus was directed to the two dancers.

production of abnormal white blood cells which fight off infections (). In the bone marrow, the process
of the blood stem cells developing into new blood cells is when the cells become either lymphocytes (

Sexual Assaults On Campus Campuses
Most college campuses have no reports of sexual assaults on campus. This statistic is very inaccurate.
The current statistics are that 9% of campuses report that rapes have happened on campus and the
other 91% state that there has never been a rape on or around campus. Those estimated numbers seem
hard to believe. Especially with cases such as the victim of the Stanford Rapist Brock Turner .
After a year of practically living in hell. Turner s victim had to face him in court on trial. Turner and
his defendant team tried to minimize the seriousness of the situation by stating that the accused and
the victim were under the influence of alcohol. Turner alleged could not be responsibility for his
actions because of the accused state of confusion to whether it was content or not. A year after his
original testimony Turner went on to say that it was indeed consensual and that the victim enjoyed it.
The victim asked to give a statement directionally to her accuser. In this statement she described the
events that lead up to the assault. The victim s sister was home from school for the weekend and they
were having dinner with their parents. The sister had plans to attend a frat party with her friends,
however , the woman originally was going to stay home and watch tv. The plans changed when she
had decided to go along seeing her sister was home and she wanted to enjoy time with her. On the way
to the party the victim made jokes about being the oldest person at the party, once she

Impact Of Karl Marx s View On Religion
Marx View on Religion
Karl Marx was born and raised in Trier, a city that was then in the Kingdom of Prussia but now
occupies southwestern Germany on the French border. He died of respiratory problems in London in
1883.
Marx came from a Jewish background, but his father converted to Lutheranism to avoid losing his
work as a lawyer in anti Semitic Prussia.1 His home was only Christian in name and largely non
religious. Marx, of course, became the atheist we all know.
Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, just as it is the spirit of
spiritless conditions. It is the opium of the people
In my view I feel Karl Marx is famous for writing this very statement, I m sure people who don t
know him too well would still know his name by stating this statement. Even though Marx was very
critical of religion I feel in a way he was also quite sympathetic of it. For Marx, ideology is a belief
system that changes people s perception of reality in ways that serve the interests of the ruling class.

2. Religion negates all that is dignified in a human being by rendering them servile and more
amenable to accepting the status quo. In the preface to his doctoral dissertation, Marx adopted as his
motto the words of the Greek hero Prometheus who defied the gods to bring fire to humanity: I hate
all gods, with addition that they do not recognize man s self consciousness as the highest divinity.
3. Religion is hypocritical. Although it might profess valuable principles, it sides with the oppressors.
Jesus advocated helping the poor, but the Christian church merged with the oppressive Roman state,

Palmetto Girl Meeting Experience
During July of this past summer, I had the experience of a lifetime at Palmetto Girls State. I spent a
week getting to know so many different girls and making friendships that still last today, all while
learning about South Carolina s government and political system. On the first night there we had to
vote for our city offices, although we had all just met each other, I won mayor for my city. That only
required talking in front of about fifteen girls; which I had no problem with and was completely
comfortable doing. After that I knew the competition would get more intense and I had to step up my
game if I wanted to win a congressional election. We would have city meetings every night to share
our plans for the week, and to share any struggles we were having. My counselor told us that we could
come to her if we needed any help preparing speeches or campaigning. All the girls were talking about
who was running for what position, but some said they didn t want to even run. Up next came the
county elections; which although was a larger group of girls, didn t stop me from going up there and
talking about myself and winning. Being on county council was so much fun because we ... Show

Article #2 Paper in Screen Prototyping: An Agile Technique to Anticipate the Mobile Experience
Summary
This article discuss about the prototyping that utilizes paper and mobile technology. It describe an idea
of translating paper prototype system into a digital execution. You draw a paper prototype, take high
quality pictures of each prototype, edit the images, and organize them into the task scenarios. Paper
prototypes provides a quick means for testing basic interactivity that may be essential for specific
design decision (Bolchini 31).
Reaction
This article provide excellent topic on paper prototype transforming into a paper in screen as well as
analyze the three approach of prototype: paper, paper in screen, and high fidelity. However, I rather
like to see the author describe more of a paper prototype rather than focus on mobile device. The
paper in screen offer unique content of a paper view on a screen, but you can t do much nonetheless
swipe to the next screen. In addition, it doesn t make any mistakes. In the emotion sections of the
paper, I also enjoy reading about the relationship of user experience and design. Visceral level is the
simplest and most important factor of degree (Bolchini 31). In other word, the look, feel, and sound of
the mobile device is important.

Positive Factors In The Tourism Industry In Thailand
Positive factors in the tourism of Thailand have been known as the hospitality, kindness of Thai
people, beautiful natures, and strong strategy of tourism industry by the government of Thailand.
Tourism industry in Thailand is a major component to the current economic foundations of the country
and is an important component of economic growth in the future. Risks that may be a threat to the
tourism industry in Thailand include the unrest that occurred in southern area, feelings of the people
about lack of political stability.
To increase the flow of foreign tourists, Thailand has been promoting the country as a sustainable

Statistics And Comparing Crime Rates College Data
Introduction: I will be discussing crime rates, statistics and comparing crime rates college data. I will
be comparing University of Texas at Arlington and Texas Southern University. In Conclusion of my
research UTA had the highest crime rates in alcohol arrest, domestic violence, stalking, motor vehicle
theft, sexual assaults, but TSU had more burglaries. I think this is the case that UTA crime rates or
high because it is a diverse University and some of the crimes that are committed some cultures can
get away with in in their country but not in Texas or the U.S.
Self Reports:
Self report measures of criminal victimization have become widely used social indicators and research
tools in criminology and criminal justice. Self report data is collected also by tradeoffs between data
quality and the costs of administering the survey within the environment of the U.S. Census Bureau.
The data is collected in schools, courts, detention centers, correctional facility

1. they include crimes not reported, substance abuse and offenders personal information is included

An Anatomical Analysis of the Tennis Serve
Introduction
Tennis serve is the shot that starts off the point. It is normally instigated by pitching the ball into the
air and thumping it into the diagonally opposite service box exclusive of touching the net. This act is
attained underhand or overhead. It is the only attempt where a player takes his time to position up,
instead of reacting to an opponent s shot. In doing this, high percentages of the efforts are normally
exerted at the upper extremity of the body, while the rest at the lower extremity of the body. the serves
comes in five main types of which includes; cannonball or flat serve, topspin slice serve, slice serve,
American twist serve and the topspin serve. The paper will focus on the some of the types of the
serves and the ways in which the upper extremity are involved in the game. With this, it will look at
the movements that occur at each of the upper extremity together with the muscles that are in use at
the joints.
The upper extremities are linked to the shaft by means of the shoulder girdle. These parts of the body
includes; the shoulder girdle together with the shoulder blade and collar bone, the upper arm together
with the humerus, the lower arm with the radius, the hand with carpus and lastly the metacarpus and
fingers. During the implication of the different types of the serve, the extremities are used in different
ways in that, they are involved in different movement and different types of the muscles in them are

Symbolism in A Good Man is Hard to Find Essay
The short story A Good Man is Hard to Find, by Flannery O Connor, is bombarded with symbolism.
In short stories symbolism is the literary element that helps the reader depict the picture and actions in
their own minds. Whether it be from characters names or the designs on the characters shirts, every
detail in this story has a purpose. Flannery O Connor was known for her strong religious background,
Catholicism, and used her faith as the underlying message in her works. In the story, A Good Man is
Hard to Find, there are a couple of things that can be traced directly to Christianity. The little boy,
John Wesley, symbolizes the religious denomination of Methodism. John Wesley, along with his
brother Charles Wesley, founded the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the first time death is symbolized in this story is when the family passes a graveyard.
They passed a large cotton field with five or six graves fenced in the middle of it, like a small island.
Look at the graveyard! the grandmother said, pointing it out. That was the old FAMILY burying
grounds. (99). O Connor purposely mentions the specific number of graves, one grave for each person
in the car. She also mentions that it was a family burying ground. This symbolism foreshadows that
the family will soon face death. When the family is driving through the town, the grandmother
remembers the old plantation is called Toombsboro . This plantation s name is brought up to remind
the reader of death. Toombsboro sounds like the tomb, symbolizing the family will soon face their
tombs. Another description that is given to symbolize the deaths is that of the Misfits car. It was a big
black battered hearse like automobile (103). A hearse is a vehicle designed to carry coffins for
funerals. This description also foreshadows the death of the family before the Misfit arrives. Lastly,
the woods, tall and dark and deep (105) represent the family s death. The woods symbolize the
unknown and fear we have for death, which is considered dark and deep. The Grandmother stood in
front of the woods reminding us that death is always near and behind us. Just like the woods, death
can be a scary thing

What Is The Cognitive Dissonance In Augustine s Confessions
Frankly, I have never been familiar with Christianity and the idea of God has always been strange to
me because being a science nerd, I like to have concrete evidence and explanations. While reading
Augustine s Confessions, I did have an epiphany; I started thinking abstractly of God as essentially the
self rather than an actual literal higher being. Augustine utilizes the idea of God to deal with the
cognitive dissonance he experiences and so do some of us. Augustine begins Book I categorizing his
character, knowledge, belief, and body as a gift from God and seems like he is taught to appreciate the
gifts that God has given him. The appreciation he has when reflecting back on his early age is what I

How Does Michael Curtiz Use Music In Casablanca
Michael Curtiz the director of Casablanca uses sound, music, and dialogue in a way that catches the
audience s attention very quickly. The film Casablanca takes place at the beginning of World War II,
after the Germans invaded France. When the soldiers refer to Captain Strasser and his men, Curtiz
used the sound to set the tone for Strassers personality even before the audience got to see who he
was. When the plane was landing, we hear a lot of violins as well as bombastic bass. We get the sense
that this situation won t be good, nor does it make us comfortable. The audience is kind of scared to
see who this character is and it gives us the notion that this might be the bad guy of the story. This
same kind of music and sound plays when Rick

Driving while focused on other tasks may cause increased traffic mishaps and accidents. Information
processing of parallel processing systems suffers from bottlenecks, and may have implications in
information processing which may be the case with the use of cell phones causing distractions while

The Solution To Save Many Lives From The War Over Land Between Israel And Palestine
Mr. Virmani
World History Honors
The Arab Israeli conflict is a battle for land between two sides. One side is the Arabian community
and the other side is the Palestinian community. The Arabians are saying that the land belongs to them
because God told them that it was their promised land or holy land. The Palestinians are coming into
the land a attempting to claim it as theirs. This conflict is insane because both communities are killing
each other almost daily. It is also absurd because they could split the land equally instead of harming
or killing each other (Virmani, n.d.).
I believe the Arabians should have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also deserve to have the land because it has been discovered that the Arabs are related to the
original Arabs/Israelis.
I would create a state for the Palestinians people because it would probably stop the conflict between
the two communities. I also think it would lower the amount of terrorism drastically. Also I believe
that giving Palestine a state would lower the amount of civilians dying between Arabs and
Palestinians. If we give Palestine their own state we should let the Arabs and PAlestine have their own
separate government so that each state could live the way the wanted to and they would not have to
divide the rules and then argue over that(Karsh, n.d.) (Whitbeck, 2012). I would split Israel in half and
make them share Jerusalem and split that in half so that the Arabs would get half and the Palestinians
would get half of Jerusalem although it would be difficult. I would split Israel in half so that the Arabs
and the Palestinians would get an equal share of the land so that the Arabs would get their holy land
back. Even though the Palestinians will be getting less than they have now it will work out because
they are both getting equal land and they will both have a government to govern each state
separately(Virmani, n.d.) (Whitbeck, n.d.).
The positive effects of the U.S. keeping a close alliance with Israel are that Israel provides a lot of

The French Resistance (La Résistance française) was a collaboration of individual movements against
the German occupation of France and the Vichy regime that complied with the Nazis during World

allied territory for political enemies and others persecuted by the Nazis (Aubrac, 3).

cooperative learning expert. During the article, Franklin explained how she realized that her workshop

  • 4. The Concept Of Jesus Being Fully Man Introduction The concept of Jesus being fully man but also fully God at the same time has been debated amongst scholars, both Christians and non Christians alike for centuries. The doctrine and study surrounding the person of Jesus is known as Christology, and after extensive and often hostile debates the Church gave a concluding definition of its Christology in 451 CE at the Council of Chalcedon. It was stated that they affirmed the belief in Jesus Christ as one Person in two natures, which are united without confusion. The early church was adamant that the Incarnation was one of the most important truths of the Christian faith. Maurice Wiles, an Oxford patristic scholar summarised the Chalcedons s aims as follows: On the other hand was the conviction that a saviour must be fully divine; on the other hand was the conviction that what is not assumed is not healed. Or, to put the matter in other words, the source of salvation must be God; the locus of salvation must be humanity. It is quite clear that these two principles often pulled in opposite directions. The Council of Chalcedon was the church s attempt to resolve, or perhaps rather to agree to live with, that tension. This essay will examine and critically analyse this stance alongside answering the question of would it matter if Jesus were not fully God and fully human? Five specific points will be looked at; Jesus is God, Jesus is man, Jesus is a sinless man, Jesus will be fully God and man forever, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hills Like White Elephants Nature Analysis Going Green: Effect of Nature on Humanity in Hills Like White Elephants Located in the Northeastern region of France, the Ebro is just as famous for its literary recognition as it is its geographical significance. Due to Ernest Hemingway s writing of the short story Hills Like White Elephants in 1927, the valley especially has been critiqued, analyzed, and studied for nearly a century. The valley itself makes up almost 17% of Spain itself, and is called one of the main physiographic units in the Iberian Peninsula (El). • 13. Corporal Punishment And Its Usage Introduction The topic of whether or not parents and teachers should use corporal punishment in the name of discipline had caught my eye for several reasons. One of the most important reasons is that I was beaten by a wooden paddle while I was growing up. I was about 12 years of age when my teacher beats all of my classmates including me just because one of us was misbehaving. That was in Baghdad, Iraq, where teachers and parents are allowed to use corporal punishment freely without any fear. Another reason is that I was born in a Catholic well educated family that showed me what love and respect actually is. Hence, my parents didn t accept what that teacher did and went to tell on her. They thought that a teacher should never do any kind of physical harm to their children, even if they used to do so. Therefore, I chose this topic to read more about corporal punishment and its usage in the United States. The key terms that are important in this paper are defined to give a full understanding of the issue. The term corporal punishment is defined as the act of disciplining a child through physical means ( Corporal Punishment , 2006, p.1). However, there is a legal definition that most states use, which says, Parents are allowed to use reasonable force in physically disciplining their children ( Corporal Punishment , 2006, p.3). • 15. The problem of Free Will In the following essay I will describe the problem of free will and explain several different responses to the problem. These responses will be derived from the determinist, libertarian, and compatibilist views. I will end the essay by arguing that the compatibilist view seems to best address the problem of free will, but does not necessarily solve it. The problem of free will arises from two conflicting ideas. The first idea is that people have free will. Having free will means that people have the ability to choose and act on what they would like to do. Most people seem accept this idea easily and live their lives believing that to some extent they are in control of the choices they make. If this idea is true then people can be held responsible and subsequently praised or blamed for their choices or actions. For example, a male student named Bob can be blamed for cheating if he chooses to use his notes while taking his test even though the professor instructed his class to not use their notes. He can be blamed for cheating because Bob chose to use his notes on his own and no one forced Bob to cheat. The second of the two conflicting ideas that most people seem to readily accept is known as determinism. Determinism is at odds with free will because it states that every event has a cause, meaning even the choices that we make are not caused by ourselves (Conee and Sider 113). In other words, the cause of something can be indefinitely traced backwards. Science seems to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In short stories symbolism is the literary element that helps the reader depict the picture and actions in their own minds. Whether it be from characters names or the designs on the characters shirts, every detail in this story has a purpose. Flannery O Connor was known for her strong religious background, Catholicism, and used her faith as the underlying message in her works. They passed a large cotton field with five or six graves fenced in the middle of it, like a small island. Look at the graveyard! the grandmother said, pointing it out. That was the old FAMILY burying grounds. (99). O Connor purposely mentions the specific number of graves, one grave for each person in the car. She also mentions that it was a family burying ground. This symbolism foreshadows that the family will soon face death. When the family is driving through the town, the grandmother remembers the old plantation is called Toombsboro . This plantation s name is brought up to remind the reader of death. Toombsboro sounds like the tomb, symbolizing the family will soon face their tombs. Another description that is given to symbolize the deaths is that of the Misfits car. It was a big black battered hearse like automobile (103). A hearse is a vehicle designed to carry coffins for funerals. This description also foreshadows the death of the family before the Misfit arrives. Lastly, the woods, tall and dark and deep (105) represent the family s death. The woods symbolize the unknown and fear we have for death, which is considered dark and deep. They also deserve to have the land because it has been discovered that the Arabs are related to the original Arabs/Israelis. I would create a state for the Palestinians people because it would probably stop the conflict between the two communities. I also think it would lower the amount of terrorism drastically. Also I believe that giving Palestine a state would lower the amount of civilians dying between Arabs and Palestinians. If we give Palestine their own state we should let the Arabs and PAlestine have their own separate government so that each state could live the way the wanted to and they would not have to divide the rules and then argue over that(Karsh, n.d.) (Whitbeck, 2012).
