Marijuana In Marijuana Essay
Should Marijuana be legalized in Texas The controversy over Marijuana has gone back in forth for
much time, but the growth of Marijuana use has grown rapidly throughout the years. With multiple
states legalizing marijuana many people that live in Texas ask, why has Texas not legalized
marijuana? Though this question goes often unanswered to many the difficulty of the answer will
continue as well. A number of states have legalized marijuana for medical use only and the results of
this have made many lives worth living for many people across the nation. Nigel McCourry is a
former U.S Marine, he was deployed to Iraq for seven months in 2004. After coming back to the
United States he could not seem to get away from what he experienced. After time went on with
everyday being a struggle of motivation to get out of bed, move on, continue to live as before, and
sleep without waking up through the night with dreams recalling what he witnessed in Iraq. Seeking a
solution to his nightmare of a life he enrolled in the study of MDMA assisted psychotherapy. What he
did not expect was that the journey back to a normal life would start with illegal drugs. In a short two
years he experienced sleeping through the night without wake up calls of the past and shortly after the
full healing experience began. Roberto Pickering was another Marine who was deployed in Iraq a year
before McCourry. Pickering served nine months in Iraq and lost many friends in his unit while in

Paradise Lost Literary Analysis
This paper will argue that the blending of ancient and modern literary ideas is significant to Milton s
goal of being considered one of the great poets, as his writing style emulates that of older texts, he
repeated references stories written by those great authors, and the fact that his book is about the
creation of everything. First, I will talk about the way Milton writes Paradise Lost. This is significant,
as his writing style is similar to Virgil, an ancient Roman Poet. Next, I will discuss Milton s idea of the
gods of old in the Christian world, and how this idea links the ancient texts to what he is writing.
Finally, I will discuss Milton s choice of topic, his choice of plot points, and how it relates to his goal
of being among the greatest poets. By emulating the writing styles of other famous epics, written by
authors of the past, Milton hoped to place himself amongst them. An example of his emulation is the
extended similes that he uses. Extended similes, or epic similes, go as far back as Homer s epics.
Milton uses these more frequently and includes more detail than those in older texts. For example, he
compares Satan s arrival in Eden to the smell of a fish (Book 4, 166). Shortly after, he compares Eden
to the field where Proserpine gathered flowers, a Roman goddess who was kidnapped by the god of
death. These similes seem to be simple comparisons, meant to improve the text, but, in actuality, these
similes go much deeper. Looking at the second simile,

Reginald Rose s Twelve Angry Men
Twelve Angry Men, a play by Reginald Rose, follows the plot of twelve jurors in a courthouse jury
room. They are attempting to decide on a verdict for a 16 year old boy on trial for the murder of his
father. It is one of the hottest years on record in New York and these jurors just want the case to be
over. They all decide on leaving the boy guilty except for one, juror eight. He follows through on the
honesty that is supposed to be shown in the judicial system, but not like juror ten who uses prejudice
to persuade the other jurors to reach the verdict of guilty. During the play Juror eight uses facts and
evidence to create a claim without using his own beliefs and prejudices. Instead he uses sense and
going over the evidence that was presented

The Nature Of Justice In The Oresteia By Aeschylus
The Oresteia is a book of plays written by Aeschylus that centers around the myth of the polis. In each
story, the theme of the polis is different. They each want to get revenge or avenge someone that did
wrong to someone that they love or loved. The in this story the polis poses questions as what is the
nature of justice and what are the methods of establishing and maintaining justice on earth. This story
uses the legend of the family Atreus and how he took revenge on his brother, Thyestes, for seducing
his wife. Atreus killed two of Thyestes sons and fed them to him to avenge the seducing of his wife.
This started the chain of events that led to the family thinking that an eye for an eye is the only way to
settle things. It first started off with Agamemnon s father Atreus and his brother Thyestes who is the
father of Aegisthus. During those times, they were contended for the throne of Argos, but during this
time Thyestes seduced his brother s wife and was driven out of Argos. When he came back Atreus had
established himself as the sole king. Thyestes begged his brother for forgiveness and Atreus pretended
to forgive him. Atreus was still upset that his brother seduced his wife and was plotted to avenge that
so he killed Thyestes two younger sons, cooked them, and served them to Thyestes to eat. When
Thyestes found out he was disgusted and horrified so he took only son that he had left and fled from
Argos. This is what started the polis in this story of The Oresteia. To

ACC: Advanced Auditing
Outside auditors play a crucial role in our nation s financial system. As the watchdogs of corporate
accounting, they are supposed to protect investors (Hilzenrath, 2010). The question is how effective
are these outside auditors in protecting investors? When you think about the failures that have
occurred: Enron, WorldCom, Adelphia, Tyco, and Global crossing to name a few, one would really
question the effectiveness of these outside auditors. As a result of these failures, Congress pass the
Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002. This act in turn created the Public Company Accounting Oversight
Board (PCAOB) to police the outside auditors and ensures they are protecting the investors. ... Show

There were multiple risk factors present in the Nextcard Inc. case. Thomas Trauger, auditor, had
authorized an unqualified opinion on Nextcard s 2000 financial statements although the evidence did
not justify an unqualified opinion. Nextcard had huge operating losses and had been reporting much
smaller allowances for bad debts than they had been observing. Their management regularly made
material understatements of the company s allowance for credit losses. Also most of the financial
decisions rested solely in the hands of Jeremy Lent, Chief Financial Officer. Another risk factor was
the fact that the executives had large amounts of stock and immediately sold them after the lock down
from the initial public offering was made. Events from 2000 that were notable include the following: *
During 2000, more than $1 billion of credit was issued to customers but it did not translate to
immediate profits and this fact was downplayed to the media and ignored in public disclosures. * In
February 2000 Nextcard announced they continued to beat aggressive growth targets and boasted an
average of $2000 per account. They omitted the fact that in 1999 they had a loss of $77.2 million. *
Insider trading Lent and other colleagues sold large amounts of stock after the lock up period had
passed. They took the company public knowing about the large losses.

Literary Themes In True Grit
There are many themes in the novel True Grit. One thematic concept explored in the book evolves
around the concept of coming of age. The author utilizes many literary elements to convey this theme
to the reader. Some of those literary elements are symbolism, setting and character development.
One literary element the author uses is setting. True Grit takes place in the Wild West. The Wild West
setting is known to be a place with a significant amount of crime and drama, and Fort Smith is an
example of a Wild West location. Fort Smith was surely not a place for an average 14 year old girl.
Even Mattie Rosses Lawyer said this in the book. Fort Smith is no place for a young girl alone, not
even a Mattie . (Portis 78). Living in a dangerous city like Fort Smith may be impossible for an
average 14 year old girl, but not for Mattie. Mattie Ross proves him wrong and survives the dangerous
place. She built up her strength and level of maturity in the town. She sold horses for $325, watched
three people get hanged to death, lived with a random old lady and hired a Marshal, that she had never
met in her life, to help her kill Tom Chaney. Charles Portis uses the setting of the story to show us the
struggles and hardships Mattie had to go through in Fort Smith. He portrayed that a small girl that can
live in a town like Fort Smith is no match for evil bandits and murderers.
The second literary element utilized by Portis was Symbolism. Symbolism was a big concept in the
novel. There were many symbols in the book, but the ones that best portrayed the theme were the two
pieces of gold and her dads gun.
The Californian pieces of gold were a big part of the story. Mattie s grandpa gave the gold pieces to
her dad on his wedding. Ever since then Frank Ross carried those two pieces of gold symbolizing
union and happiness between him and his Family. When Chaney shot Frank, he took away the gold
pieces from him. This symbolized Chaney taking away happiness from the Ross family. Later on in
the story, Rooster found one of the pieces of gold in Quincy s pocket, symbolizing that they are on the
right track to catching Chaney and that they are almost of halfway there. The quote that shows this

Canada s Pipeline System Has An Enviable Safety Record
Natural Resources Canada ( NRC ) estimates there are 100,000 Km of large diameter oil and gas
transmission lines in Canada, about 73,000 Km of which are federally regulated by the National
Energy Board ( NEB ). Canada s pipeline system has an enviable safety record. The NRC reports that
between 2009 and 2013, 99.999% of the crude oil and petroleum products carried by NRC regulated
pipelines were delivered safely and between 2011 and 2013, 100% of products released by these
pipelines were recovered safely. Canada depends heavily on these pipelines to move oil and gas to

Natural gas pipelines in British Columbia were bombed six times between October 2008 and July
2009 by unknown perpetrators in acts classified by authorities as environmentally motivated domestic
terrorism. As alarming as these events are, physical attacks on pipelines are far easier to predict,
prevent, and resolve than cyber attacks.
Sophisticated hackers have expanded their threat matrix to include cyber attacks on the computer
systems used to operate the world s pipelines. Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition ( SCADA )
systems are increasingly subject to targeted attacks. Cyber attacks can be perpetrated over the Internet
from anywhere in the world and are capable of disrupting safe pipeline operation causing spills,
explosions, or fires. The 2008 explosion on the Baku Tbilisi Ceyhan oil pipeline in Turkey was
reportedly caused by a cyber attack.
In 2012, the Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team of the US Department of
Homeland Security identified a series of cyber attacks on American natural gas pipelines that had
continued for more than a year. The pipeline companies reported targeted phishing attempts and
intrusions into multiple natural gas pipelines positively identified ... as related to a single campaign. In

The role of human resources is also very important in maintaining an effective health care industry. If
the managerial personnel are performing their duties effectively and efficiently in a health care
organization, the organization will automatically progress. Additionally, the organization will provide
the improved outcomes of the patient health and health care delivery as well. This is so because
human resource is also considered as one of the most important inputs to effective health care
services. Although there exists a variety of challenges in inducting qualified human resource
professionals but there is a strong need to solve this issue. (Kabene, 2006)
The challenges associated with the HRM i.e. human resource management includes the distribution
and composition of health care work force. In addition to this, the issues related to the training of the
work force are also a challenge for the human resource management. The relocation of the health
workers is also a great concern. Moreover, the degree of economic development is also a great
challenge that negatively impacts the level of performance shown by a health care organization. These
challenges must be addressed properly in order to have an effective health care delivery anywhere in
the world.
If we compare the health care financing of past and that of recent times, there exists a dramatic shift in
the trends of the issue. In the past times, the

Montessori vs. Traditional Education Essay
Education is very important especially in this day and age. What school one attends and how they
perceive school to be is a huge factor in one s life success. There has been research done in the past
few years proving that students who receive a Montessori education will prosper academically more
so than those who receive a traditional education (Ryniker and Shoho, 2001). Traditional schools
typically follow teacher based philosophies and the Montessori education is student centered. On
average, children enjoy student based philosophy classrooms. Therefore, they are much more in tuned
to what they are learning and that benefits their educational career. Having fun while learning is the
key to keeping children engaged.

Many people think of it as controlled chaos (Kramer, 1976). Montessori resources are divided into
four categories: practical life, sensorial, academic and cultural/artistic supplies (Scotty, 2009).
Alan Gartner and Dorothy Lipsky, City University of New York academic researchers conducted
research about success rates of public Montessori students (Schapiro, 2002). The research conducted
proves the children who attend Montessori public schools are better in certain subjects (Schapiro,
2002). Montessori is also very beneficial to children with dyslexia, because they use phonics to teach.
Attending a Montessori school is also an educational advantage for children because they have the
opportunity to start as early as the age of three (Schapiro, 2002).
According to the study conducted by Alan Gartner and Dorothy Lipsky, research was found that
students who attended a Montessori public school did significantly better in math and social studies.
Their overall GPA was not significantly higher than others but males received higher scores in science,
while females received higher scores in math, compared to other students who did not attend a
Montessori school (Schapiro, 2002). Montessori graduates also received higher scores overall on the
ACT mathematics test, but lower on the ACT reading test (Schapiro, 2002). Montessori students also
tend to fail fewer classes and take more honors and advanced

The Nuclear Of The Atomic Bomb
The atomic bomb was developed in an effort to counter proposed technologies by the Nazis in
Germany, who were trying to develop superweapons in their effort to conquer Europe. Top physicists
like Albert Einstein warned that nuclear reaction would release enough energy to level an entire city.
By mid 1945, U.S. military leaders were presented with a few options regarding how they should
approach the end of the war with Japan. Solutions included mounting a joint invasion with the Soviets,
creating a naval blockade, allowing the Japanese to retain their emperor if they surrendered
unconditionally and created a cease fire, and dropping the atomic bomb. However, they needed to take
into account many variables that would affect their decision. The U.S. should have dropped the bomb
to impress the Soviets, to prevent the need for a possible land invasion, and to end the war sooner;
therefore, the U.S. s use of the atomic bomb only served to heighten the Cold War between the Soviets
and U.S.
Truman believed that he could intimidate the Soviet Union with his atomic weapon. He believed that I
have an ace in the hole and another one showing so unless he has threes or two pair (and I know he
has not) we are sitting all right (Truman Library). The ace that Truman is talking about is the atomic
bomb, and when he says that we are sitting all right , Truman means that a Soviet atomic bomb, or
something worse, would be disastrous to world politics, as Truman planned to use the atomic

Summary Of The Dooryard Bloom

When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Mourn When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom d, one of Walt
Whitman s most popular poems was written to show his private mourning over President Lincoln s
death, in a public way. Whitman realizes his mourning is not his alone, it is a national grief, and so he
tries to vocalize his in a way that can be shared by everyone; he did so by writing this poem
(Rollyson). Whitman, drawn to the idea of a president that would emerge from the frontier west,
admired Lincoln more than most (Kreidler). His devastation by the loss of President Lincoln, coming
from his belief[s] and fervent admiration, can be seen in When Lilacs last in the Dooryard Bloom s,
but more notably in his most popular work, O Captain! My Captain! (Kreidler). In writing, When
Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom d Whitman showed his true colors and took a highly personal note
into his poetry, as well as incorporated symbols to describe the depth his and the nation s desolation.
In When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom, Whitman uses symbols to express the nations, as well as
his own, deep private mourning over President Lincoln s death in a public way. Whitman s young life
gives reason to this poem, as well as adding to its overall tragic story. He was born in 1819 in West
Hills, Long Island, the second of nine kids; he was one of the few to be born in sound mental and
physical condition. While Whitman isn t the most

Mate Selection Sociology
Family as a word is not easy to define, because it is so significant and universal to humanity. The
worlds cultures display so much variety of family that it is difficult to base it off of common elements.
The western world regards family as a wife, husband, and children. Other countries or groups, though,
have family forms consisting of more than one wife or vice versa. A broad definition of family is when
certain people consider themselves related by blood, marriage, or adoption.
Human groups have many forms of mate selection, ways to trace descent, and methods to assign
authority and pass on property. Each group perceives its own forms of family as natural.
In the functionalist perspective, they stress that to survive a society, one must meet its basic needs.

When ideas are right or wrong change, it leads to new norms that guide behavior in new directions.
Like said above, it was once an aforethought right for a wife who worked full time to also do all the
housework but it is no longer the case. Though there are apparent differences in how husbands and
wives spend their time, in what sociologists refer to it as gendered division of labor, where husbands
still talk the primary responsibility for earning the income and the wives take primary responsibility
for taking care of the house and children; still there is still a shift taking place in the traditional gender
division of labor: wives spend more time than they used to earn family income while husbands spend
more time than they used to on housework and child care so these trends are part of changing thoughts
of gender of what is deliberately the right for husbands and wives. In ushering these new norms and
behavior or what is deliberately appropriate maybe in the future greater marital equality can be

As we read Macbeth, I realized that there are many similarities with Oedipus Rex. Macbeth and
Oedipus are both the main lead and the tragic heroes. The plot of both plays are about gaining control,

Sophocles and Shakespeare wrote these plays to teach a simple lesson for average people. Oedipus
and Macbeth are both men that have a lot of power but are not capable of keeping it. Both experienced
many contradictory choices that formed their character traits, such as man versus nature, man versus
action, and man versus person. Oedipus and Macbeth are rulers who fell in their own burdens because

Analysis Of Webrtc Is A Free, Open Project That Enables...
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
WebRTC is a free, open project that enables web browsers with Real Time Communication
capabilities via the use of simple JavaScript APIs and HTML5. The WebRTC components have been
built to serve that purpose. It has been termed as a disruptive innovation that has replaced the software
installation or plug in functionality demanded by the old browsers. It can democratize and decentralize
tools required for content creation and communication like telephony, gaming, video production,
music making, news gathering and many other applications. It builds on the strength of the web
browser and abstracts signalling by offering a simple state machine that maps directly to
PeerConnection. This enables the web developers to choose their own signalling protocols for their
usage scenario. Ultimately, its flexibility and ability to download JavaScript will change the way Real
Time Communication happens in the future.
1. INTRODUCTION
Real Time Communications (RTCs) had a beginning with the dedicated Telephone networks before
they evolved to use the Internet with Telecom type Servers . The significant development that
happened to make the worlds of RTC and Web to meet was WebRTC which was the answer to avoid
the installation of plug ins into web browsers and build Real Time functions directly into the browsers.

The Preface By William Lloyd Garrison
The preface by William Lloyd Garrison describes the encounter between Frederick Douglass and
Garrison, at an anti slavery convention. It tells about how this encounter led to a long partnership
between the two as well as Douglass involvement in the Anti Slavery Society. At the convention the
people noticed his appearance as well as his intellectual side. The crowd seemed to respond well to the
idea of protecting Douglass against his owners. In the convent Garrison says Douglass testimony
made the audience question their ideas about black being inferior. Garrison then goes on to talk about
how any inferior ideas about a race are the cause of slavery. He describes the events where a
shipwrecked whites where held as slaves by blacks in Africa because they were seen as inferior. He
then goes on to point of that many slaves have endured a much harsher life then Douglass, and he
points out how murder of slaves was not being investigated. In the preface there was a letter to
Douglass from a Wendell Phillips, addressing Douglass as a friend. He says that he is happy the
writing of former slaves is now being published and able to be but into history. The prior history of
slave owning was by slave owners themselves and they left out very important details. He then goes
on to say that he was astounded at the harsh ways he was treated in an area that was considered a less
harsh area. He then goes on to talk about how since he put the real names of himself and of his
masters he has

Navajo Indian Nation- Past, Present and Future
Residing in the Southwest United States, the Navajo Indian tribe is one of the largest tribes in America
today. In their own language, they refer to themselves as Diné which means the people . They are an
old tribe with descendants tracing their roots back to the thirteenth century. The first contact that the
Navajos had with white settlers was during the Mexican American War in 1846. The United States
conducted peaceful relations with the Navajo for over fifteen years. Forts were built to help protect the
Navajo from Spanish/Mexican raids on the Navajo s cattle. Eventually, a new military commander,

Many students and parents gave up and left the school system because heritage was deemed more
important, school was boring or no one cared. Parents remember the old school when they were taught
that their heritage was wrong and all they knew was wrong. A fear and hatred for white school has
been embedded within the older clans people. Many don t enforce the children to stay in school and
only do it because the law says so. They are not realizing that without proper education, the Navajo
Nation can not prosper and will remain in poverty. There is a proven and strong correlation between
education and income across the world. The more education that an individual has, the more income
he or she can obtain with a higher paying job. However, it would not be enough to just attend school.
The quality of education that is received is just as important as the act of attending. The instruction

Everyman Character Analysis
In today s society, there are many views concerning how to obtain a right relationship with God.
Considering the context of the late fifteenth century morality play Everyman, it seems that different
views have been around for quite some time now. The author is unknown, yet it is easy to see that they
have a unique writing style. For example, the main character is referred to as Everyman. This appears
to be done with the intention to relate the character to the audience. In this English morality play, the
author uses a unique style of allegory to express many desires that people often have throughout their

end, everyman turns from his self centeredness and comes to God. This is only after he realizes that
everyone else has abandoned him. Throughout the play, numerous characters are introduced. What is
unique concerning the characters is that most of them do not have individual personalities. Everyman
and God are the only main characters that are not just moral personalities. Death is one of the first on
the scene, and tells everyman I am sent to thee rom God out of his majesty (Everyman line 90 91).
Everyman appears to be confused as to why death would be sent to him. Shortly after this, death states
to everyman For before God thou shalt answer, and show thy many bad deeds, and good but a few

Something The Lord Made Essay
Something the Lord Made is a historical analysis conducted under a dramatic lense of the innovations
of Vivian Thomas and Alfred Blalock in respect to heart surgery, specifically blue baby syndrome.
Although the dramatic documentary is geared towards the innovations of heart surgery at this time,
there are also heavy ties to the racial divide during the period of history. Essentially, our protagonist,
Vivian Thomas, who subsequently has not had the opportunity to earn a college degree, is adopted by
accredited surgeon Alfred Blalock at Johns Hopkins University. While we see their research progress
we also see the nature and evolution of the dynamic of their relationship where Vivian Thomas, also
being incredibly intelligent, is regarded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would like to make the argument, however, that this conflict is never resolved, but partially mediated
through habitual compromise. Vivian is given a stable position at Johns Hopkins University and
eventually receives a degree of respect he deserves, but he never matches his level. Due to his race,
Vivian is never able to live out his passion to the extent of which he is capable.
The two scenes that stand out to me in the film are related to the contrast of Vivian s strong family and
his treatment at JHU and the cinematic value of the surgery itself. The filmmaker made the excellent
decision of contrast through cuts at several points during the film, Vivian s treatment by Blalock, and
Vivian s companionship with his wife. The scene in which the blue baby is operated on is excellently
done, especially with the auditory climax with the layering of the instrumentals.
In the film, we are presented with an incredibly realized character, despite his skin color. We see he is
morally strong and mentally apt which, in any world, constitutes respect professionally and
relationally. For this, in the fashion of a case study, this emotional cognitive dissonance strengthens
the readers understanding and empathy of the overall cultural ambiance of this period of

University of Phoenix Abstract
This paper discusses the implementation phase of the Communications Assets Project (CAP) Software
Configuration Management (SCM). CAP is an interoperable communications inventory software
package. The project manager for CAP has asked for an analysis for software configuration
management. This paper includes the six major activities: coding, testing, installation, documentation,

The server will require allocated and reallocated memory during processing. Should out of memory
errors occur, the design will have to be reviewed and additional memory allocated to the servers and
clients.
Installation
During the installation phase of implementation, SKM proposes using a parallel implementation.
Initially, SKM proposes using a prototype of the system and having 6 key personnel use the system
from their desktops. Once these personnel are familiar with the system and are comfortable with it,
SKM will introduce a train the trainer program which will enable these key personnel to return to the
workforce and train other employees in their areas. The new system will be run in parallel with the old
manual system. Running the systems in parallel is expected to have no impact on the development of
CAP. CAP s IT team will install the hardware on the network during a weekend and run tests on the
systems to make sure they are up and running. Should the IT team encounter any problems, it will
return the following weekend. SKM has allocated funding should it be required.
Documentation
During the implementation phase, several documents will be produced to help in the maintenance and
support of the system. These documents will be used by CAP s IT team. During testing, user manuals
and operational manuals were produced that will help all personnel use the system. During this time,
training manuals will be produced separately from the

The Act of Sodomy in Florence during the Italian Renaissance
The Act of Sodomy in Florence During the Italian Renaissance During the Italian Renaissance, the
sexual environment of fifteenth century Florentine society is described as Florentine men partaking in
some kind of same sex experience. These same sex acts were not just wrong doings, but a fundamental
part of Florentine masculine identity. More specifically I will focus on sodomy, the act of anal or oral
sex, which can be heterosexual or homosexual. What I will be analyzing in this paper is the term
sodomy in fifteenth century Florence. The Church in Florence considered this act to be both criminal
and sinful and it will be presented through government documentations from Gene Brucker s
anthology The Society of Renaissance Florence: A Documentary Study. While the harsh treatment of
sodomy was generally due to religious beliefs, I believe the act of sodomy in Florence established the
harsh treatment it did not solely because of religious beliefs, but also due to social, moral, and
demographic features. According to documents within Brucker s anthology, the criticism against
sodomy is due to religion within the Florentine society. The government document titled Legislation
Against the Vice, dated 1418, states sodomy was ...so contrary to nature that the anger of the
omnipotent God is incited not only against the sons of men but also against the community... (Brucker
202). This assertion expresses how much Christian religion played into the treatment of sodomy.

Technology In The Book 1984 By George Orwell
An average American citizen can be caught on camera more than 75 times a day. (Crime Feed)
Cameras are everywhere, from the time someone leaves their home to the time they arrive to work,
and surveillance becomes a natural way of life. Today s advance in technology has thrust the universe
nearer to the world of Big Brother, a symbol in George Orwell s novel 1984, written after World War 2
with foreshadows of the world s technological future, and imitates the novel through the government s
abilities to spy on individuals. Orwell s prediction for the year 1984 is faultless because it directs the
future toward an imprisoned world through technology as today, although the novel was published in
1949. When Big Brother s world and today are compared, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Accordingly, Big Brother inspects civilians utilizing a variety of technological tools, for example

Comparably, a helicopter is the basis to drones, Orwell states, In the far distance a helicopter skimmed

The Statements And Actions Of Prophet
INTRO
The statements and actions of Prophet are recorded in a set of literary texts that modern Muslim call
the Hadith. The original term for the customs of the Prophet was Sunnat Al Nabi , which is an exact
translation of customs of the Prophet in the native tongue of the Prophet s time, which was Arabic
(textbook). While the entire genre of Islamic literature that surrounds the Prophet Muhammad is called
Sunnat Al Nabi, the individual reports that outline the personal and private life of the Prophet are
called Hadith. The Hadith is an official collection of the sayings and actions of the last and final
Prophet of Islam throughout the 22 years of his prophetic ministry (Dustin). The Hadith is arguably
one of the most important practical text for modern Muslims, as the many books on Hadith outline the
life of the man that Muslims around the world have been told to emulate. Muslims have been
instructed to practice the behaviour of the Prophet as his behaviour is considered a guideline on the
perfect way for a Muslim to live. The Hadith outlines all relationships between a Muslim and God, as
well as discussing how relationships between humans should be conducted. The Hadith outlines every
affair possible, and how the Prophet acted in this affair, and Muslims should aspire to model this way
of life (Encyclopedia J). Therefore, the Hadith can be considered one of the most important literary
texts on the planet, because it guides a religion of nearly 1.6 billion people. The

Essay On Empowerment
II. The first dimension to Empowerment: the materialistic component The problem with categorising
the poor in the context of participation is that the poor are often fragmented geographically,
economically and socially and the preferences within the poor vary vastly (Emmett, 2000).
Additionally, one must not forget the existing inequalities between the members within a community;
one has to be cautious of the spatial politics of the poor. Hence, external actors (such as NGOs) must
be careful not to reinforce existing ethno nationalist and gender dynamics (Ruwanpura, 2007).
Historically, the nature of the NGO sector to specialise on an issue or on one community has had
positive and negative implications. The positive aspect of this specialisation is that it is easy to
implement, monitor and report. The negative aspect of this specialisation is that it can create
tension/spite between the affected party and the excluded party (Ruwanpura, 2007). This makes
employing an approach that solely focuses on mobilising a challenging task to do. This magnifies the
attraction towards a market orientated approach. Paying for a service can be empowering. It derives a
feel good, uplifting utility. Some projects in Bangladesh experienced success that justifies the utility
derived from the ability to pay for something. Women felt empowered because they were making
money; they no longer need to ask their husbands for money (Bebbington et al, 2007). This utility
derived by women implies

How People Overcome Obstacles
There are over 6,000 languages spoken in the world today, many of which are spoken by fewer than a

This is where you analyze the evaluation results and see how the students did. If many of the students
did not pass the way, the teacher wanted them to then the teacher must take the time to modify the
activity even more so that it will suite the students better. This model is extremely important when the
teacher is trying to figure out their students. It helps the teachers have a plan for the class so they aren

other skills then their basic physical education teacher. There are six standards for an APE teacher.
These standards include human development, motor behavior, exercise science, curriculum
development, teaching, and communication. Human development is the basic understanding of how
skills develop and progress and how they apply to those with disabilities. This is important to know
due to the fact there are both disabled and non disabled students in this class. The Motor behavior
standard, is having the knowledge to monitor how motor skills develop and being able to keep in mind
the influence of development delay for those that are disabled. This also goes along with the next
standard which is curriculum development. This is the understanding of how each student has a
different goal depending on their disability. Teachers must be away at all times of their students and
what is different about them. The teaching standard is being able to

Compare And Contrast The Articles Of Confederation
After the Revolutionary War, the thirteen colonies of America gained their independence and had to
create their own version of a government. In the year 1777, the Articles of Confederation, written by
John Dickinson, served as the United State s government. More importantly, it provided a basis for the
Constitution and established what America needed to improve on, such as taxes and a form of
currency. The Articles of Confederation gave the U.S. the ability to organize settlements, create peace,
and improve government. The Articles of Confederation implemented two land ordinances in order to
organize settled land. For instance, the first land ordinance, the Land Ordinance of 1785, stated that
towns can only be the size of one square mile. This would prevent towns from being too large and
created a stable environment for them as well. Also, it claimed that land could only be bought from the
government in an effort to reduce debt. The second land ordinance was created in 1787. This land
ordinance was more political in a sense that it imposed slavery in the northwestern states.
Furthermore, it allowed these northwestern states to organize their own government; therefore, the
states were given more power. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of Katha Pollitt s The Hunger Games Feral...
In Katha Pollitt s essay entitled The Hunger Games Feral Feminism, Pollitt writes about what reality
television might look like if taken to extremes. Reality television is a huge part of our culture today,
and I not only agree with Pollitt s views and ideas of what reality TV would look if taken to the
extremes, but I believe that we have already gotten to that point. Today s reality TV shows such as
Keeping up with the Kardashians , The Bachelorette or any of the Real Housewives are among many
of today s popular shows that focus on extreme aggression, bullying, physical beauty, and sex appeal.
These TV shows teach us that it is not only ok to compromise morals and values, but that type of
behavior accepted and rewarded. In today s age, reality TV generally has to go negative and go to the
extreme in order for it to be interesting despite the lasting impact that it may have on viewers. Reality
TV has an impact on the values of their viewers and alters how they may perceive real life situations.
Therefore, it s important to take a look at some of the standards portrayed by reality TV.
Reality television is a huge part of our television viewing culture and the line between right and wrong
is not always clear to many of the viewers. The fact is, the extreme behaviors displayed are not real or

The NTSC signal includes extra information space known as the subcarrier and Vertical blanking
interval. As explained in the quotation from Mr. Marquis, the V chips will use a certain section of this
space to send simple rating numbers and points that will be compared to the personality settings in the
chip. Many new technologies are being developed for smart TV or data broadcast on this part of the
NTSC signal. Basically the V chip will severely limit the bandwidth for high performance
transmission of data on the
NTSC signal. There is also to be cost to this new technology, which will be passed to consumers.
Estimates are that each chip will cost six dollars wholesale and must be designed into the television s
logic. The V chip could easily push the price of televisions up by twenty five or more dollars during
the first years of production. The much simpler solution of set top boxes allows control for those who
need it and allow those consumers who don t to save money and use new data technology. Another
cost will most definitely be levied to television advertisers for the upgrade of the transmitting
equipment. Weather the V chip encoding signal is added upstream of the transmitter or directly into
uplink units and other equipment intended for broadcast; this cost will have to compensated for in
advertising sales and prices. The V chip regulation may also require another staff employee at most
stations to effectively rate locally

were the causes that led to the war. There were a few causes to world war 1, the most underlying cause
was militarism. Militarism was the most impactful reason for the war, and what ultimately pulled the

were many countries that were nationalistic before the war started, but nearing the end the losing
countries had no nationalism. This wasn t a major cause to World war 1, because it is natural for
people to want their country to fight so they don t appear as weak. Nationalism was prevalent in early
20th century Europe and was a significant cause of World War I. Most pre war Europeans believed in

Stormbreaker Analysis
Have you ever had a time where you had to think fast and use what was around you to prevent
something bad from happening? When I was 13 my cousins were riding their bikes down a steep hill
with a jump at the end and a lake about 30 feet after that. The more I watched them the more I wanted
to ride my bike down the hill too, so I grabbed my bike and when they all went inside to watch tv I
snuck out and got ready to go down the hill. When I was finally ready to go down I pushed off and
pedalled as fast as I could, but when I jumped the ramp I realized that I did not have brakes on my
bike so I had to do something to try and stop before I got drenched. So I swerved to the side and
reached out for my grandma s hammock that was there and held on ... Show more content on

One example of how Alex is resourceful is when he was trapped in a giant aquarium with a dangerous
jellyfish inside. In order to survive he had to use what he had with him. According to the story ¨Alex
held the tube against the metal corners at the front of the tank and did his best to squeeze a long line of
cream all the way down the length of the metal¨ (Horowitz 162) This shows Alex s resourcefulness
because when it didn t look like he was going to survive because he was close to drowning and getting
stung by a poisonous jellyfish he escaped by using a special cream he had to melt through the metal
support beams on the tank which made the tank break open. Another example of how Alex was
resourceful is when he used the karate move that he had learned when he was younger to take down an
armed guard. One example from the text is where it states ¨At that moment Alex struck. It was another
classic karate blow this time twisting his body around and driving his elbow into the side of the mans
head just below the ear. The guard didn t even cry out¨ (Horowitz 140). This shows that Alex is
resourceful because if he wouldn t have knocked to guard out with his special move he most likely
would have either gotten shot by the guard or tortured for spying on the company to find out what they
were doing that they where trying to hide. Through Alex knocking out the guard and Alex breaking
out of the tank he manages to escape these two life or death

Ode To The West Wind By Percy Bysshe Shelley
Today we call the English romantic period the time which took place between the metaphysical poets
and the Victorian age. This period was born because it was hard for the laypeople to understand the
great messages the metaphysical poets wrote down. We also should not forget this is the age of the
Great French Revolution. A famous distinctive mark of romantic poems is the presence of nature. This
is also the case with the poem written by Percy Bysshe Shelley called Ode to the West Wind.
Before I jump into the poem itself I found some noteworthy things about Shelley. Hughes (1918) says
that for Shelley nature was extraordinary. We know that he was not a poet who sat inside looking at
nature and saying how beautiful it is. He actually went out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Here we can again take a glance at the role of the poet, because in Vörösmarty s view the poet would
be the wind itself. If it is thought about this way, we can conclude Shelley might have compared the
role of the poet to the works of the

The Impact Of Henry Ford s Assembly Line System On...
Though the assembly line started over a hundred years ago, it is still revolutionary today. It has
majorly impacted the industrial world so greatly that businesses that did not gain the practice soon
became extinct, and it was also one key factor that assisted creating the automobile into American
society. Henry Ford s assembly line system was one of the most powerful changes that has affected
modern America and is still recognized today. Not only did he achieve developing the middle class so
anyone could afford his product, but he also broke the ideas of monopolies.
In the first place, some things that we have today wouldn t be here without Ford s assembly line.
Without the assembly line all cars would take a lot longer to manufacture and produce to people
around the nation. The middle class wouldn t have been known without the assembly line because
without the assembly line no workers will be paid $5 every working day. The assembly line is an
constructing process that has parts that are added as the product moves through the line that moves
from station to station where workers or now machines manufacture the product. The middle class
helped revolutionize the assembly line because Henry Ford was paying his workings double the
average factory wage at that time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The economy wouldn t be moving as much as it is right now without the middle class. In fact,
www.americanprogress.org states that from 1947 to 1979, when the middle class received 54 percent
of the nation s total income on average, the economy grew at a steady clip of 3.7 percent per year . So
basically Henry Ford s creation of middle class helped eliminate monopolies at the time and grow the
economy to make it move faster. By solving the issue with the giant gap between the lower class and
the upper class by assembling the middle class which helped destroy

Kid Cudi Meaning
The possibility of not having the chance to experience life s timeless moments all over again is
disappointing; therefore, it is an individual s job to seize every one of them, carpe diem. In 2009, the
Hip Hop artist Kid Cudi wrote a song expressing a lifestyle of seizing life s moments called The
Pursuit of Happiness. He mentions late nights consisting of parties and drugs in the search for
happiness that everyone desires. The song talks about how the journey to happiness can develop into a
lifestyle of substance abuse, apprehension, and regrets even though happiness is possibly at the end.
Though it deteriorates them as a whole the mindset as quoting Kid Cudi is, fuck that (Kid Cudi, n.d.).
Through Kid Cudi s music arrangement, style of writing, and retable message listener s are taken on a
journey of realizing that the desires of one s heart isn t always going to unfold ... Show more content

That s why immediately after asking a question he answers it for the listeners, because they haven t
experienced his happiness. In the last two lines of the second verse, he is saying while others are
laying awake worrying about their struggles, he is busy drinking his sorrows away. On another hand,
The Pursuit of Happiness has less thrilling lyrics and it focuses on achieving happiness but the journey
may not be as glamorous as intended. There are aspects of life that are not deceitful, but it is worth it
in the long run. The chorus explains this perfectly by stating: I m in the pursuit of happiness and I
know Everything that shines ain t always gold And I ll be fine once get it I ll be

Injuries In Health Care
Working in the health care field can be extremely rewarding, but it s not without risk. Health care has
one of the highest rates of workplace injuries of any industry. Law Office of Morrison, Webster
Carlton, workers compensation attorneys with offices in Springfield and Joplin, MO, explain that,
although these injuries are often not as dramatic and obvious as those suffered in other professions,
they can be extremely serious, and result in long term pain or even permanent disability. Because the
results of these injuries are not always obvious, and are often repetitive use injuries that can t be traced
to a single event, collecting compensation through the workers compensation can be difficult and
frustrating, which is why it s so important

Karl Marx and Frederick Engel Essay
I believe that Karl Marx and Frederick Engel and W.E.B Du Bois are both right. They both had one
specific goal in mind; social equality. Karl Marx and Frederick Engel wanted to close the gap between
the ruling class and the working class. The working class were being overworked and underpaid while
working in factories. Marx and Engels wanted equality in the society by advocating for a communist
society, where all people have equal access to resources. W.E.B Du Bois wanted African Americans to
have the same equal rights as the white men. African Americans were neglected in the American
society and were not allowed the same rights as the white men.

Without economic equality in the society, freedom and political equality could not be achieved. The
manifesto was to advocate for the redistribution of resources as the most effective way of promoting
democracy far beyond the earlier democracy which is practiced in a capitalist society. Through the
establishment of communist society, resources and social amenities such as education, health and
housing could be provided on an equal basis . During the period of industrial revolution disparity level
and social life was becoming hard for the working class. Thus, communist was considered as the
solution to the social conflict that was prevalent in the society and the antagonist resolution between
men and nature, necessity and freedom. They were right to advocate for the communist society to
promote the welfare of the working population in the society. It was the best remedy of preventing the
exploitation of the working class and ensuring that democracy prevail for all people regardless of their
position and status in the society.
W.E.B Du Bois was right to advocate for the abolishment of segregation of African American as a way
of promoting equality among African Americans. African Americans were disregarded in the
American society and were denied them privilege given to the white man. The experience of African
Americans was worse

  • 3. Paradise Lost Literary Analysis This paper will argue that the blending of ancient and modern literary ideas is significant to Milton s goal of being considered one of the great poets, as his writing style emulates that of older texts, he repeated references stories written by those great authors, and the fact that his book is about the creation of everything. First, I will talk about the way Milton writes Paradise Lost. This is significant, as his writing style is similar to Virgil, an ancient Roman Poet. Next, I will discuss Milton s idea of the gods of old in the Christian world, and how this idea links the ancient texts to what he is writing. Finally, I will discuss Milton s choice of topic, his choice of plot points, and how it relates to his goal of being among the greatest poets. By emulating the writing styles of other famous epics, written by authors of the past, Milton hoped to place himself amongst them. An example of his emulation is the extended similes that he uses. Extended similes, or epic similes, go as far back as Homer s epics. Milton uses these more frequently and includes more detail than those in older texts. For example, he compares Satan s arrival in Eden to the smell of a fish (Book 4, 166). Shortly after, he compares Eden to the field where Proserpine gathered flowers, a Roman goddess who was kidnapped by the god of death. These similes seem to be simple comparisons, meant to improve the text, but, in actuality, these similes go much deeper. Looking at the second simile, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is one of the hottest years on record in New York and these jurors just want the case to be over. They all decide on leaving the boy guilty except for one, juror eight. He follows through on the honesty that is supposed to be shown in the judicial system, but not like juror ten who uses prejudice to persuade the other jurors to reach the verdict of guilty. During the play Juror eight uses facts and evidence to create a claim without using his own beliefs and prejudices. Instead he uses sense and going over the evidence that was presented ... • 6. The Nature Of Justice In The Oresteia By Aeschylus The Oresteia is a book of plays written by Aeschylus that centers around the myth of the polis. In each story, the theme of the polis is different. They each want to get revenge or avenge someone that did wrong to someone that they love or loved. The in this story the polis poses questions as what is the nature of justice and what are the methods of establishing and maintaining justice on earth. This story uses the legend of the family Atreus and how he took revenge on his brother, Thyestes, for seducing his wife. Atreus killed two of Thyestes sons and fed them to him to avenge the seducing of his wife. This started the chain of events that led to the family thinking that an eye for an eye is the only way to settle things. It first started off with Agamemnon s father Atreus and his brother Thyestes who is the father of Aegisthus. During those times, they were contended for the throne of Argos, but during this time Thyestes seduced his brother s wife and was driven out of Argos. When he came back Atreus had established himself as the sole king. Thyestes begged his brother for forgiveness and Atreus pretended to forgive him. Atreus was still upset that his brother seduced his wife and was plotted to avenge that so he killed Thyestes two younger sons, cooked them, and served them to Thyestes to eat. When Thyestes found out he was disgusted and horrified so he took only son that he had left and fled from Argos. This is what started the polis in this story of The Oresteia. To ... • 7. Nextcard, Inc. Assignment 1 Nextcard, Inc. ACC: Advanced Auditing Outside auditors play a crucial role in our nation s financial system. As the watchdogs of corporate accounting, they are supposed to protect investors (Hilzenrath, 2010). The question is how effective are these outside auditors in protecting investors? When you think about the failures that have occurred: Enron, WorldCom, Adelphia, Tyco, and Global crossing to name a few, one would really question the effectiveness of these outside auditors. As a result of these failures, Congress pass the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002. Thomas Trauger, auditor, had authorized an unqualified opinion on Nextcard s 2000 financial statements although the evidence did not justify an unqualified opinion. Nextcard had huge operating losses and had been reporting much smaller allowances for bad debts than they had been observing. Their management regularly made material understatements of the company s allowance for credit losses. Also most of the financial decisions rested solely in the hands of Jeremy Lent, Chief Financial Officer. Another risk factor was the fact that the executives had large amounts of stock and immediately sold them after the lock down from the initial public offering was made. Events from 2000 that were notable include the following: * During 2000, more than $1 billion of credit was issued to customers but it did not translate to immediate profits and this fact was downplayed to the media and ignored in public disclosures. * In February 2000 Nextcard announced they continued to beat aggressive growth targets and boasted an average of $2000 per account. They omitted the fact that in 1999 they had a loss of $77.2 million. * Insider trading Lent and other colleagues sold large amounts of stock after the lock up period had passed. • 8. Literary Themes In True Grit There are many themes in the novel True Grit. One thematic concept explored in the book evolves around the concept of coming of age. The author utilizes many literary elements to convey this theme to the reader. Some of those literary elements are symbolism, setting and character development. One literary element the author uses is setting. True Grit takes place in the Wild West. The Wild West setting is known to be a place with a significant amount of crime and drama, and Fort Smith is an example of a Wild West location. Fort Smith was surely not a place for an average 14 year old girl. Even Mattie Rosses Lawyer said this in the book. Fort Smith is no place for a young girl alone, not even a Mattie . (Portis 78). Living in a dangerous city like Fort Smith may be impossible for an average 14 year old girl, but not for Mattie. Mattie Ross proves him wrong and survives the dangerous place. She built up her strength and level of maturity in the town. She sold horses for $325, watched three people get hanged to death, lived with a random old lady and hired a Marshal, that she had never met in her life, to help her kill Tom Chaney. Charles Portis uses the setting of the story to show us the struggles and hardships Mattie had to go through in Fort Smith. He portrayed that a small girl that can live in a town like Fort Smith is no match for evil bandits and murderers. The second literary element utilized by Portis was Symbolism. Symbolism was a big concept in the novel. There were many symbols in the book, but the ones that best portrayed the theme were the two pieces of gold and her dads gun. The Californian pieces of gold were a big part of the story. Mattie s grandpa gave the gold pieces to her dad on his wedding. Ever since then Frank Ross carried those two pieces of gold symbolizing union and happiness between him and his Family. When Chaney shot Frank, he took away the gold pieces from him. This symbolized Chaney taking away happiness from the Ross family. Later on in the story, Rooster found one of the pieces of gold in Quincy s pocket, symbolizing that they are on the right track to catching Chaney and that they are almost of halfway there. What school one attends and how they perceive school to be is a huge factor in one s life success. There has been research done in the past few years proving that students who receive a Montessori education will prosper academically more so than those who receive a traditional education (Ryniker and Shoho, 2001). Traditional schools typically follow teacher based philosophies and the Montessori education is student centered. On average, children enjoy student based philosophy classrooms. The research conducted proves the children who attend Montessori public schools are better in certain subjects (Schapiro, 2002). Attending a Montessori school is also an educational advantage for children because they have the opportunity to start as early as the age of three (Schapiro, 2002). According to the study conducted by Alan Gartner and Dorothy Lipsky, research was found that students who attended a Montessori public school did significantly better in math and social studies. Their overall GPA was not significantly higher than others but males received higher scores in science, while females received higher scores in math, compared to other students who did not attend a Montessori school (Schapiro, 2002). • 12. The Nuclear Of The Atomic Bomb The atomic bomb was developed in an effort to counter proposed technologies by the Nazis in Germany, who were trying to develop superweapons in their effort to conquer Europe. Top physicists like Albert Einstein warned that nuclear reaction would release enough energy to level an entire city. By mid 1945, U.S. military leaders were presented with a few options regarding how they should approach the end of the war with Japan. Solutions included mounting a joint invasion with the Soviets, creating a naval blockade, allowing the Japanese to retain their emperor if they surrendered unconditionally and created a cease fire, and dropping the atomic bomb. However, they needed to take into account many variables that would affect their decision. The U.S. should have dropped the bomb to impress the Soviets, to prevent the need for a possible land invasion, and to end the war sooner; therefore, the U.S. s use of the atomic bomb only served to heighten the Cold War between the Soviets and U.S. Truman believed that he could intimidate the Soviet Union with his atomic weapon. He believed that I have an ace in the hole and another one showing so unless he has threes or two pair (and I know he has not) we are sitting all right (Truman Library). Whitman realizes his mourning is not his alone, it is a national grief, and so he tries to vocalize his in a way that can be shared by everyone; he did so by writing this poem (Rollyson). Whitman, drawn to the idea of a president that would emerge from the frontier west, admired Lincoln more than most (Kreidler). His devastation by the loss of President Lincoln, coming from his belief[s] and fervent admiration, can be seen in When Lilacs last in the Dooryard Bloom s, but more notably in his most popular work, O Captain! My Captain! (Kreidler). In writing, When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom d Whitman showed his true colors and took a highly personal note into his poetry, as well as incorporated symbols to describe the depth his and the nation s desolation. In When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom, Whitman uses symbols to express the nations, as well as his own, deep private mourning over President Lincoln s death in a public way. Whitman s young life gives reason to this poem, as well as adding to its overall tragic story. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY WebRTC is a free, open project that enables web browsers with Real Time Communication capabilities via the use of simple JavaScript APIs and HTML5. The WebRTC components have been built to serve that purpose. It has been termed as a disruptive innovation that has replaced the software installation or plug in functionality demanded by the old browsers. It can democratize and decentralize tools required for content creation and communication like telephony, gaming, video production, music making, news gathering and many other applications. It builds on the strength of the web browser and abstracts signalling by offering a simple state machine that maps directly to PeerConnection. This enables the web developers to choose their own signalling protocols for their usage scenario. Ultimately, its flexibility and ability to download JavaScript will change the way Real Time Communication happens in the future. 1. It tells about how this encounter led to a long partnership between the two as well as Douglass involvement in the Anti Slavery Society. At the convention the people noticed his appearance as well as his intellectual side. The crowd seemed to respond well to the idea of protecting Douglass against his owners. In the convent Garrison says Douglass testimony made the audience question their ideas about black being inferior. Garrison then goes on to talk about how any inferior ideas about a race are the cause of slavery. He describes the events where a shipwrecked whites where held as slaves by blacks in Africa because they were seen as inferior. He then goes on to point of that many slaves have endured a much harsher life then Douglass, and he points out how murder of slaves was not being investigated. In the preface there was a letter to Douglass from a Wendell Phillips, addressing Douglass as a friend. He says that he is happy the writing of former slaves is now being published and able to be but into history. • 22. Everyman Character Analysis In today s society, there are many views concerning how to obtain a right relationship with God. Considering the context of the late fifteenth century morality play Everyman, it seems that different views have been around for quite some time now. The author is unknown, yet it is easy to see that they have a unique writing style. For example, the main character is referred to as Everyman. This appears to be done with the intention to relate the character to the audience. In this English morality play, the author uses a unique style of allegory to express many desires that people often have throughout their life. Through this unique expression, many characters are introduced that show man s desire. In the end, everyman turns from his self centeredness and comes to God. This is only after he realizes that everyone else has abandoned him. Throughout the play, numerous characters are introduced. What is unique concerning the characters is that most of them do not have individual personalities. Everyman and God are the only main characters that are not just moral personalities. Death is one of the first on the scene, and tells everyman I am sent to thee rom God out of his majesty (Everyman line 90 91). Everyman appears to be confused as to why death would be sent to him. Shortly after this, death states to everyman For before God thou shalt answer, and show thy many bad deeds, and good but a few (Everyman line 107 108). This demonstrates that the author views a time of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Something The Lord Made Essay Something the Lord Made is a historical analysis conducted under a dramatic lense of the innovations of Vivian Thomas and Alfred Blalock in respect to heart surgery, specifically blue baby syndrome. Although the dramatic documentary is geared towards the innovations of heart surgery at this time, there are also heavy ties to the racial divide during the period of history. Essentially, our protagonist, Vivian Thomas, who subsequently has not had the opportunity to earn a college degree, is adopted by accredited surgeon Alfred Blalock at Johns Hopkins University. Vivian is given a stable position at Johns Hopkins University and eventually receives a degree of respect he deserves, but he never matches his level. Due to his race, Vivian is never able to live out his passion to the extent of which he is capable. The two scenes that stand out to me in the film are related to the contrast of Vivian s strong family and his treatment at JHU and the cinematic value of the surgery itself. The filmmaker made the excellent decision of contrast through cuts at several points during the film, Vivian s treatment by Blalock, and Vivian s companionship with his wife. The scene in which the blue baby is operated on is excellently done, especially with the auditory climax with the layering of the instrumentals. In the film, we are presented with an incredibly realized character, despite his skin color. We see he is morally strong and mentally apt which, in any world, constitutes respect professionally and relationally. • 25. The Act of Sodomy in Florence during the Italian Renaissance The Act of Sodomy in Florence During the Italian Renaissance During the Italian Renaissance, the sexual environment of fifteenth century Florentine society is described as Florentine men partaking in some kind of same sex experience. These same sex acts were not just wrong doings, but a fundamental part of Florentine masculine identity. More specifically I will focus on sodomy, the act of anal or oral sex, which can be heterosexual or homosexual. What I will be analyzing in this paper is the term sodomy in fifteenth century Florence. The Church in Florence considered this act to be both criminal and sinful and it will be presented through government documentations from Gene Brucker s anthology The Society of Renaissance Florence: A Documentary Study. While the harsh treatment of sodomy was generally due to religious beliefs, I believe the act of sodomy in Florence established the harsh treatment it did not solely because of religious beliefs, but also due to social, moral, and demographic features. According to documents within Brucker s anthology, the criticism against sodomy is due to religion within the Florentine society. The government document titled Legislation Against the Vice, dated 1418, states sodomy was ...so contrary to nature that the anger of the omnipotent God is incited not only against the sons of men but also against the community... (Brucker 202). This assertion expresses how much Christian religion played into the treatment of sodomy. Within this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The original term for the customs of the Prophet was Sunnat Al Nabi , which is an exact translation of customs of the Prophet in the native tongue of the Prophet s time, which was Arabic (textbook). While the entire genre of Islamic literature that surrounds the Prophet Muhammad is called Sunnat Al Nabi, the individual reports that outline the personal and private life of the Prophet are called Hadith. The Hadith is an official collection of the sayings and actions of the last and final Prophet of Islam throughout the 22 years of his prophetic ministry (Dustin). The Hadith is arguably one of the most important practical text for modern Muslims, as the many books on Hadith outline the life of the man that Muslims around the world have been told to emulate. Muslims have been instructed to practice the behaviour of the Prophet as his behaviour is considered a guideline on the perfect way for a Muslim to live. The Hadith outlines all relationships between a Muslim and God, as well as discussing how relationships between humans should be conducted. The Hadith outlines every affair possible, and how the Prophet acted in this affair, and Muslims should aspire to model this way of life (Encyclopedia J). • 28. Essay On Empowerment II. The first dimension to Empowerment: the materialistic component The problem with categorising the poor in the context of participation is that the poor are often fragmented geographically, economically and socially and the preferences within the poor vary vastly (Emmett, 2000). Additionally, one must not forget the existing inequalities between the members within a community; one has to be cautious of the spatial politics of the poor. Hence, external actors (such as NGOs) must be careful not to reinforce existing ethno nationalist and gender dynamics (Ruwanpura, 2007). Historically, the nature of the NGO sector to specialise on an issue or on one community has had positive and negative implications. The positive aspect of this specialisation is that it is easy to implement, monitor and report. The negative aspect of this specialisation is that it can create tension/spite between the affected party and the excluded party (Ruwanpura, 2007). This makes employing an approach that solely focuses on mobilising a challenging task to do. This magnifies the attraction towards a market orientated approach. Paying for a service can be empowering. It derives a feel good, uplifting utility. Some projects in Bangladesh experienced success that justifies the utility derived from the ability to pay for something. Women felt empowered because they were making money; they no longer need to ask their husbands for money (Bebbington et al, 2007). This utility derived by women implies ... In the year 1777, the Articles of Confederation, written by John Dickinson, served as the United State s government. More importantly, it provided a basis for the Constitution and established what America needed to improve on, such as taxes and a form of currency. The Articles of Confederation gave the U.S. the ability to organize settlements, create peace, and improve government. For instance, the first land ordinance, the Land Ordinance of 1785, stated that towns can only be the size of one square mile. This would prevent towns from being too large and created a stable environment for them as well. Also, it claimed that land could only be bought from the government in an effort to reduce debt. • 41. Stormbreaker Analysis Have you ever had a time where you had to think fast and use what was around you to prevent something bad from happening? When I was 13 my cousins were riding their bikes down a steep hill with a jump at the end and a lake about 30 feet after that. The more I watched them the more I wanted to ride my bike down the hill too, so I grabbed my bike and when they all went inside to watch tv I snuck out and got ready to go down the hill. When I was finally ready to go down I pushed off and pedalled as fast as I could, but when I jumped the ramp I realized that I did not have brakes on my bike so I had to do something to try and stop before I got drenched. So I swerved to the side and reached out for my grandma s hammock that was there and held on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One example of how Alex is resourceful is when he was trapped in a giant aquarium with a dangerous jellyfish inside. In order to survive he had to use what he had with him. According to the story ¨Alex held the tube against the metal corners at the front of the tank and did his best to squeeze a long line of cream all the way down the length of the metal¨ (Horowitz 162) This shows Alex s resourcefulness because when it didn t look like he was going to survive because he was close to drowning and getting stung by a poisonous jellyfish he escaped by using a special cream he had to melt through the metal support beams on the tank which made the tank break open. Another example of how Alex was resourceful is when he used the karate move that he had learned when he was younger to take down an armed guard. One example from the text is where it states ¨At that moment Alex struck. It was another classic karate blow this time twisting his body around and driving his elbow into the side of the mans head just below the ear. The guard didn t even cry out¨ (Horowitz 140). This shows that Alex is resourceful because if he wouldn t have knocked to guard out with his special move he most likely would have either gotten shot by the guard or tortured for spying on the company to find out what they were doing that they where trying to hide. Through Alex knocking out the guard and Alex breaking out of the tank he manages to escape these two life or death ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This period was born because it was hard for the laypeople to understand the great messages the metaphysical poets wrote down.
