Global Warming and Alternative Energy Sources Research Paper
Global Warming and Alternative Energy
People are inflicting major damage to the Earth s environment, and if we don t do anything to stop the
destruction soon, the results could be devastating. Most people know about global warming and think
it may be a serious problem in the future. What most people don t understand is that global warming is
happening now, and we are already feeling some of its destructive power. Because of the dangerous
effects of global warming, alternative energy sources need to be aggressively pursued. Finding and
utilizing alternative energy sources may be the only way to combat the increase of global warming.
Scientists agree that the main reason for global warming is the depletion of the ozone layer ... Show

It is a clean, practical alternative that would satisfy the world economy s growing energy demand.
Today there are 212 nuclear power plants in the world and the number is expected to rise to 250 in the
next five years. Nuclear power already provides 75% of power in France and 20% here in the United
States (McQuinn). Like nuclear energy, wind energy is also becoming more popular and efficient.
Large wind turbines powered completely by wind gusts generate up to 233 megawatts of power every
minute (Roberts 12). Homeowners and farmers can now own their own wind turbines and have their
unused energy purchased by energy companies. Wind energy is very popular in Germany especially
where at least 33% of the countries energy comes completely from wind turbines (Roberts 13). Solar
power is nothing completely new; it has been used for years to power small devices from calculators
to watches, but what is new is its improved efficiency. Solar panels can be used to collect energy from
the sun and now are being used on a much larger scale. Homeowners and business can use energy
generated from the panels to power their homes and offices and have it purchased by energy suppliers.
Solar power is proving to be an economical energy source available to the public that is consumer
friendly.

Political Participation
Objectives
This chapter reviews the much discussed low voter turnout and the poor percentage of other forms of
political participation in the United States. After reading and reviewing the material in this chapter, the
student should be able to do each of the following:
1. Explain why the text believes that the description, the analysis, and many of the proposed remedies
for low voter turnout rates in the United States are generally off base.
2. Compare the ways that turnout statistics are tabulated for the United States and for other countries,
and explain the significance of these differences.
3. Describe how control of the elections has shifted from the states to the federal government, and

6. Other proposals to the problem of nonvoting include making Election Day a national holiday or
holding elections on weekends. Voting prior to elections by mail in ballots or no fault absentee voting
have also failed to produce significant increases in voter participation.
a) 40 million registered voters failed to vote in the 2006 and 2008 elections.
b) 40 million voting age citizens failed to register in either of the two elections.
7. In Europe, registration is done by the government. In the United States, the burden falls on the
individual. Would reducing the cost of registrations increase the percentage of eligible voters who are
actually registered?
a) In 1993, Congress passed the Motor Voter law, which allows people in all fifty states to register to
vote when applying for driver s licenses and to register through the mail. Many did register but did not
vote.
b) Data still show many have not registered.
B. Voting is not the only way to participate; by other measures, Americans may participate in politics
more than Europeans. C. Important question: how do different kinds of

Maximum security prisons and particularly super maximum security prisons such as Pelican Bay State
Prison in California are designed to exert psychological control over violent inmates. The concept of
psychological control was pioneered by an 18th century philosopher name Jeremy Bentham. Jeremy
Bentham s method instilled self control over the incarcerated; however, it also caused numerous
inmates to fall into severe depression, rage, anxiety, hallucination, and even suicide (Clear et al.,
2013). Inmates who are placed in solitary confinement are considered as violent and dangerous;
however, in the mix of these convicted offenders are mentally ill prisoners who require crisis care or
psychiatric hospitalization (Metzner Fellner, 2010). Solitary confinement will affect any inmate
whether they are diagnosed with mental disorders or not. Bentham s philosophy of psychological
control has been criticized by critics of incarceration because it violates human life and dignity (Zara,
2013). A high profile serial killer such as Charles Manson may be sentenced in a super maximum
security facility, but he is still entitled to basic human rights and dignity afforded to him under the
Eighth Amendment. The United States ideology of maximum security prisons is completely different
from the Europeans. The objective of U.S maximum security prisons is custody and discipline;

The Rise Of Japan During The 19th Century
The relationship between the two nations has been noted by many scholars that there is a noticeable
affront that has been built between the youth of the Japanese and the youth of the Chinese, which
began in the 19th century when Japan began its rise to power in East Asia (Westad, 2013). The rise of
Japan during the 19th century was seen as a slap in the face to the Chinese, who believed that they
should be in control of East Asia that they were supposed to be the chosen nation, the leader of East
Asia. These ideologies were said to be passed down from one generation to the next beginning under
the leadership of Mao Zedong, and the founders of the Chinese Communist Party to the today
(Westad, 2013).
These ideologies have led too many Chinese regarding the wealth made by the Japanese, and Japan s
relationships with the United States as ill gotten gains; Japan is currently the main Asian ally for the
US (Westad, 2013). The belief was that wealth of the Japanese was meant for the Chinese and as
history has progressed forward the belief has created a rife between the two nations that can be felt
more now than it did when the nations were at war in 1937 (Westad, 2013). Ultimately, the Chinese
Japanese rife came to a head when Japan rose to power during the 19th century, and incited a war due
to their greed and expansionism. The position as the East Asian superpower was and still is regarded
as the true position of power for the Chinese and has created a new dynamic as China

Picasso Change Essay
As Picasso spreads a variety of colors and a ginormous selection of techniques over his canvas, the
changes in his techniques and hues reflect the moving stirring agitations of the day. His emotions may
change to become more piercing or charming depending on the circumstances in his life at the
moment. Change as defined by One Look Dictionary is literally in the verb tense, to become different
or to make someone or something different. When used in its noun form, change can be the money
someone gives you back when you pay more money than an item costs to buy or a process by which
something becomes different, like there is going to be a change in the weather. These are denotative or
literal meanings for the word. There are connotative features ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Don t resist them that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in
whatever way they like. If we start manipulating or trying to control destiny in life we may change the
mysterious flow that controls the way our life should go. Change can be the natural a way of talking or
thinking in an easy natural way, without any pauses or difficulties of life. Things don t have to change
the world to be important. ~ Steve Jobs Importance is relative to the person who is viewing it at a

revolution to the rest of the world. Change can be intimate and personal. Some change is private.
Nelson Mandela once said, Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the

Marxist Reading Of One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest
Written in 1962, Ken Kesey s One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest is a timeless classic. This novel has
been subject to analysis through many different literary lenses: feminist, Marxist, and of course,
psychoanalytic. One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest provides a plethora of evidence when it comes to
using the psychoanalytic lens. The lens in question deals with the teaching of Sigmund Freud. When
reading this novel, the audience sees quite clearly that the world of psychology plays an impactful role
in One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest. This is demonstrated by the author s own experiences, the use
of mental illnesses, and the protagonist s return to sanity. The author of One Flew Over The Cuckoo s
Nest, Ken Kesey, based this novel largely on his own experiences. As stated by David Wright in an
article about Ken Kesey s life, Two of the clearest points of origin for the setting and events in One
Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest were Kesey s introduction to LSD in 1959 and the time that he spent
working at the Veterans Administration (VA) hospital in Menlo Park, California, in 1961 (Wright 3).
Kesey worked in the psychiatric ward at the VA hospital as a night aide, a job similar perhaps to that
of Mr. Turkle in the novel (Wright 3). The job allowed him time to observe the day to day operation of
a mental facility and granted him the opportunity to get to know some of the patients (Wright 3). After
spending so much of his time in the ward, he found that he was fascinated and

Cause And Effect Of Video Games
The Effects of Video Games
Taz Ramsay
Lamar Community College
The Effects of Video Games Video games have been around since the early 1970 s . Computer Space
was the first video game to be produced, and it was created and developed by a company called
Nutting Associates. In 1972, a company called Atari introduced a game called Pong . Atari was formed
by a person named Nolan Bushnell, a developer of Computer Space, who left Nutting Associates to
found Atari, which then produced Pong. Pong was the first successful commercial arcade video game .
(How Stuff Works, 2017) How is a video game made? A video game is taken through a step by step
process requiring five main steps. The first step to making the video game is the design or layout of
the video game. The next step is to grabbing the materials needed to make the game. The materials
needed to make the game are different for each game, and it is based on the game and/or game
console. The third step in making a video game is going through the manufacturing process. The steps
include creating the story, captioning the games action with art, recording dialogue and sound effects,
writing the program, testing the game, burning the game or disc, and packaging the game. These are
all important for the next step of the next step in making the game, which is ensuring the quality of the
game. The final step is improvement, because the producers want people to buy more games or stuff
to help unlock stuff in the game.

Analysis Of Cancion Protest Protest Songs Of Latin America
Ethnographic CD Review: Cancion Protesta During the 20th century, Cuba was economically
weakened and civilians began protesting the governments corruption. Once Fidel Castro s Communist
intentions came to light, many residents fled the country, only to find out that they would no longer be
allowed back in the country regardless of their origin, in consequence for betraying Castro. Protests
rose during this time and musicians began using their talents to voice their opinions. The CD I will be
focusing on is Cancion Protesta: Protest Songs of Latin America, produced by Barbara Dane. The
production of this CD, which was focused on the historic protests, began in 1927 and it was published
by Paredon Records in 1970. The CD s field of interest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It sounds like a poet is expressing himself to a crowd, which you can hear in the background with
noises of laughter or agreement to the poet s words. At 20:21 minutes in the CD the crowd starts
clapping in awe of the poem and the track ends. Hasta Siempre, Comandante (Song for Che Guevara)
is track six on the CD, it starts off with a slow tempo and soft voices in the background, almost as if
you were outside, around a group of older men. It then accelerates to a type of tone that hints off a sad
scenario in the lyrics. You can hear a membranophone in the background alongside a chordophone.
The song La OEA, Me Causa Risa (The OAS Makes Me Laugh) has the vocalists literally laugh to the
beat which sounds happy and up beat. I hear an idiophone and a chordophone. At the end of the song
the men laugh outside of the tempo and in a way that frightens a little bit. The song on track eight is
named Coplas del Pajarito (The Little Bird s Complaint), and it starts of by gradually speeding up the
tempo. You can hear the song speed up between each stroke made on the chordophone being used.
The singer sounds nasally with a quick vibrato in his voice at the end of certain words. The song
Porque los Pobres no Tienen (Because the Poor Have Nothing) there is a woman singing with a warm
voice along to a slow tempo. There is thump in the background, which means there is an idiophone
being used alongside a guitar. The song Me Gustan los Estudiantes (I Love the Students) has a very

If You Can Not Preach Like Paul
This hermeneutical journey report will highlight the Swing method provided by Nancy Lamers
Grossman in her book, If You Cannot Preach Like Paul. This particular sermon writing process
focuses on the scripture text John1:1 18, and it will be written and preached in a style that reflects
Anna Carter Florence s Testimonial Methodology.
Choosing the Text:
This particular sermon is being prepared for an evening vesper service on the first Sunday of Advent.
This will be the third service of the day for this particular congregation, and it will follow the morning
services, which will have been guided by the lectionary text for that day. For this particular service,
candle light, and light in general, is a main theme. The congregation will sit within the sanctuary, and
the only light will be from the candle light and Advent decoration. Also, this service is to help
congregation members prepare their hearts for the Advent season in its entirety. It is a service that
marks the beginning of an important journey. I chose the passage John1:1 18 in an attempt to meet the
two main needs that this service requires, light imagery and preparation for the coming of Jesus. The
light is significant in this text because the author refers to Jesus being the light for the world that sits
in darkness, which seemed to me to be a great place to start for this particular service. Additionally,
this passage is the gospel text for this upcoming Christmas Daily Text reading. I felt that if this is to

depict the horrors and hardships of life during the revolution period in china during Mao Zedong s

was to marry into a family who was part of a party or of a high social status. So after divorcing his
wife for purely political reasons, Liang Heng s father married a woman who was both a party member
and a high ranking cadre in the a factory. This marriage was obviously based on Liang Heng s fathers
desperate need to gain social status rather than out of love. Marriage was also based on convenience to
both partners. When Liang Heng s father married for the third time it was because he needed someone
who could take care of the house and the children and in turn the woman had wanted to leave the
village she was living in and live in the city residence where so many goods were available, however
the process to transfer her teaching job from the village to the city was complicated. So she married to
Liang Heng s father which Liang suspected in hope to move to the city easily.

Apple, really sticks out in my mind. In my opinion, it talks about egos and work ethics business
workers should have. It is an example people in general should follow. The quote is saying, if you do a
good job on something, like an assignment or a task, you should waste your time seizing the moment
for too long. If you did well on that one thing, you can do something great on something else.
Continue that cycle and you ll do great all the time. Evolution of Importance: This quote explains my

Introduction
Technology is embedded in almost every aspect of business today. Information technology has now
become a primary driver of market differentiation, business growth, and profitability. This new
Internet led the evolution of the ubiquitous Web 2.0 that is capable of integrating physical and virtual
world entities. Web 2.0 was characterized by specialized, publicly available data sources (e.g.
mapping data, weather information, etc.) accessible via light weight APIs (Application Programming
Interfaces) that can be used to create value added services in the form of Mashups. The propagation of
Web APIs has transformed the Web into a platform for collaborative development and information
sharing. The core of this story on the services transformation is not about the scale of the services nor
is it about the revolution in digital technology. Rather, this story is about how the application of rule
based information technology tools to service activities is transforming the services component of the
economy and mutating the web to become a nimble, dynamic programming platform.

Mary Poppins Movie On The 60 s
There have been many great films made between 1940 1960 these films have developed new filming
technology and editing styles. These films have also contributed to the wonderful of cinema to help
give people a feel going environment to hang with families, friends, and more across the globe. As I
search through film of this early film era the movie that was most appealing to me was Mary Poppins
made in on the 60 s. This was a movie that I had always wanted to see but never had access to film but
thank to 21 century technology I was able to see this film for the first time. This movie brought back a
childhood joy which I had lost over the years as I entered adulthood.
Mary Poppins was originally a book wrote by P. L. Travers in the early 30 s. This book would then
become a Walt Disney (and his partner Bill Walsh) film made in 1964 directed by Robert Stevenson.
Robert Stevenson was born in Burxton, UK and graduate of Cambridge University. Roberts is also
famous for directing other Disney film such as The Love Bug and Old Yeller these film just like Mary
Poppins where hits of their time. With all of Roberts s success directing movies I think Walt Disney

The special effect used in this film where out of this world. As I mentioned in the paragraph before
this movie fused real life and animation as if they were one. To make this happen Robert had to use a
film editing style called sodium process which placed the actors in the animation. This can be seen
when the actress Julie Andrews is interacting with penguins. Another technique used in Mary Poppins
was animatronics which allowed Julie to movie freely through picture using technology and robotics.
Robert also bring the scenery to life by painting on large glass this technique is called matte painting

John White Roanoke Colony Analysis
Imagine, a small colony of about 110 people peacefully getting settled into their new lives in North
America only to vanish three years later without a trace. This was a reality for John White as the only
thing he came back to in the colony of Roanoke was the word CROATOAN and the mystery of their
disappearance. In 1587, John White and a small band of people set foot on Roanoke Island and formed
a colony. This colony was made up of about 110 English men, women and children, and although
small, they ran through their supplies very quickly. Just a few short months after they had settled,
Governor White hesitantly decided to return to England for much need support and goods, leaving his
family and colonists behind. Unfortunately for him, the day he set sail was the last day he ever saw
them. John White s decision to return to England for supplies was made at a bad time for the country.
Upon his arrival Britain was facing an impending invasion by the Spanish Armada and he found
himself trapped in England because of this crisis. It took two years for the English to defeat the
Spanish Armada, and by the time the fighting was over White set sail, yet again, to return to his
colony. He set foot on Roanoke soil August 18th, 1590, three years after he had left for England. What

signify where they colony may move if they needed to relocate while John White was away.
Unfortunately for him, there were no such signs carved on any of the trees. The only clues he had

The perfect day for a soccer game. The sky was blue, the sun was out, clouds were moving, and there

Bracero Program History
Mexican nationals have migrated across the border for short term agricultural work since the 19th
century. With a shortage of jobs, Mexican workers seek the promise of what the neighboring labor
market of the United States has to offer. At the same time, the U.S. economy is in need workers to
grow the economy and the history of U.S. relations with Mexico began as self sustaining system of
circular migration.
On August 4, 1942 the United States recocnized a need for a temporary intergovernmental agreement
to set the standards for Mexican agricultural labor (officially referred to as the Mexican Farm Labor
Program). The program lasted much longer than anticipated and in 1951, Congress formalized the
Bracero Program with Public Law 78. From 1942 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The subject then became controversial when more Mexican nationals, desperate for work, were
willing to take on these backbreaking jobs at wages most Americans weren t willing to work for.
American farm workers had reason to be concerned that the braceros would be competing with them
for the same jobs but at lower wages. The original concept of the Bracero Program was to serve and
protect both Mexican and domestic workers. For example, Americans would receive at least the
minimum wage in the area of the current work; guaranteed employment for three fourths of the
contract period; adequate, sanitary, and free housing; food provided at a low cost; job insurance would
be at employer s expense; and free transportation back to Mexico was provided when the seasonal
contract was up (Bracero History Archive, 2017) . The agriculture employers were also only supposed
to hire braceros when there was high labor shortage, and were not to abuse the system. However,
employers ignored many of these regulations and Mexican workers were used as strikebreakers while
native workers were put out of a job. The only party who benefited from this injustice were the
growers because they got cheap labor. This imbalance went unchecked and as a result farm wages
dropped suddenly from the 1940s to the1950s, farm wages dropped sharply as a percentage of
manufacturing wages, a result in part of the use of braceros and undocumented laborers who lacked

The participation of the central government willing to support transportation changes appeared at
different periods. The first attempt was during the administration of León Febres Cordero (1984 1998)
giving support to the Empresa Municipal de Transporte. After him, Rodrigo Borja s (1988 1992) team
developed plans that will improve transportation in the city. Their main idea was to acquire a train to
connect the south of the city with the valleys. Nevertheless, that option was not the best alternative
due to the few population living at the valleys (Interviewer X, 2016). During this administration, ideas
of decentralizing power to local authorities grew, and the congress began to discuss about it . Finally,

the perfect way to rewind your overwhelming life. Traveling actually started thousands of years ago
and the Romans are credited for structuring modern tourism. However, nowadays traveling is usually

that anyone can do. There are so many upsides to visiting a foreign country. Their stress levels
decrease, happiness increases, and they become more creative. One gets to experience a different
culture, scenery, and people when visiting this remarkable country. Traveling, in general, makes
people healthier. Occasional travelers report lower stress levels and lower risks of heart attacks. These
benefits even stay awhile after the trip has ended. According to Larry Alton, traveling has been
scientifically proven to lower stress levels. (NBC News) This is because traveling is like taking a
break from one s hectic life. One gets to think about themselves and relax. People feel less anxious
and tend to forget about problems that usually bother them. In a way, they disconnect from their busy

The Great Gatsby And 1984 Analysis
Karl Marx s theory of Marxism suggest that the authority of the bourgeoisie comes from their control
over the means of production in. In order to perpetuate their wealth and disguise their corrupt interior,
they must oppress and exploit the proletariat through false consciousness. Both Scott Fitzgerald s The
Great Gatsby and George Orwell s 1984 establishes societies that explores the Capitalism and
Totalitarianism. George Orwell does that by setting 1984 in a futuristic totalitarian regime where the
proletariat is under absolute control by the Party in order to eternalize their power over its citizens.

Although liquor is prohibited for production except for medical usage, alcoholic beverages are still

alcohol at the corners of every street signify the limited control the American government has over the
actions of its citizens. In other words, the citizens of The Great Gatsby are free to challenge the
authorities who enforce the laws. In addition to the strict surveillance used to control the state of
Oceania, the Party induces fear into its citizens to dominate them mentally. After committing
thoughtcrime by expressing his dissatisfaction with the Party in a forbidden diary, Winston expresses
his terror for capture when he says that [the] patrols did not matter, however. Only the Thought Police

Thought Police s ruthlessness. The mysterious nature of the organization prevents the exercise of

Party control the people physically with constant surveillance, they also attempt to take utter control
over their mental state. In contrast, even law enforcers of the Roaring Twenties lack a sense of

As clear of a difference as black and white, the diction of the narrator is more profound and well

nothing but set in his backyard and learn that frog to jump. This example provides a lower stance than
the narrator in terms of wording and possible educational class. Wheeler is clearly understood through
the story, although his use of old english provides a sense of old western or southern american which
comes off as totally different from the narrator. As Wheeler speaks of the character known as Smiley it

My Life At An Elusive Black Bear
A few years ago when I was younger, my father took me out one evening bear hunting. This evening
was just like any other day because since I was small my dad had taken me with him on many of his
hunting adventures. We gathered all of our needed gear such as the cross bow, the mono pod, and our
cushioned seats. Then we set off, leaving our comfort of home for a relaxing evening together. I was
hoping to get a chance at an elusive black bear. Unknowingly, this day became one of the most
memorable days in my life, for a small brown haired reason. The wind was weaving its way
harmoniously through the treetops at sunset. It created a mystifying ambiance within the forest. The
sun was gleaming through the tree branches, leaving its last little slivers of warmth before dropping
down below the hills for its lingering night s sleep. It almost seemed like a picturesque dream all
together with the hushed silence. After conversing about all of our potential hunting spots, we decided
to go up the steep knob where we had seen black bear sign before. We found a cozy spot right in front
of an elongated stump. It was humid that evening. When we finally had reached our desired area, we
were warmer than the black top on a hot summer s day. We took a few heavy layers off before we sat
down. This turned out great because it provided some much needed extra padding.
After we got settled in, we prepared for the certain places we suspected a bear would come from.

Fascism and Communism were Centered on the Control of a...
Although both fascism and communism initiated in Europe and both extended their popularity in the
mid 20th century, they had opposing thoughts and principles. Fascism and communism were centered
around repressive political systems founded on the control of a single leader. Communism is built
upon the theory of economic equality, however, fascism is focused on the glory of the state and
strength is shown by violence and conquest. The definitions, political and economic systems, ideas,
and the social structures are unique differences of the two. Communism is defined as a theory or
system of social organization based on the holding of all property in common, with actual ownership
ascribed to the community or state. Fascism is interpreted as a government system led by a dictator
having complete power, forcibly oppressing opposition and criticism, regulating all industry and
emphasizing an aggressive nationalism. Although the two were both originated in Europe, fascism and
communism are two completely separate ideologies. Communism s political system is known to have
not one leader and focused directly on the people. This political system has never essentially been
practiced; it has just used a one party system. Fascism s political system has one charismatic leader
has complete authority which is often the symbol of the state. In communism, the means of production
are held in common, negating the idea of ownership in capital goods, while in fascism, they focused

The Impact Of Religion And Spirituality On Psychological...
A Hope that Restores: The Impact of Religion and Spirituality on Psychological Distress Those who
plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as
they return with the harvest (Matthew) . Everyone in life goes through a tribulation of some variety,
including those who believe in a superior being. A common term for these people, that is, people who
carry said belief, is religious, referring to a person who is devoted to the applications of a church or
other institution, perhaps a synagogue. Although the two compliment each other, religion is not to be
confused with spirituality. While religion focuses on involvement in a religious program, such as a
church, spirituality is often thought to be a reserved and private experience, in which the partaker
places meanings with events that are close to them as an individual. Religious and spiritual people
alike have been studied over recent years in order to clarify theories which claim that coping with

First of all, the matter of who is affected by trauma should be addressed. As previously stated,
everyone experiences such ordeals at one occasion or another in their lifetime. However, people of

Teaching English As A Language Essay
INTRODUCTION
English seems to have joined this list of basic skills. Quite simply, its function and place in the
curriculum is no longer that of foreign language and this is bringing about profound changes in who is
learning English, their motives for learning it and their needs as learners. (Graddol, D, page 72)
If a command of English is almost normal, the value of speaking traditional languages is increasing in
particular for native speakers of English.
The slogan English is not enough applies as strongly to native speakers of English as for those who
speak it as a second language. We are now nearing the end of the period where native speakers can
bask in their privileged knowledge of the global lingua franca (Graddol 2006:118)
English is used extremely widely today among speakers who have acquired it as a language for use
with foreigner, rather than in their own schools, government bodies and so on.
The role of education in school is now seen as to provide the generic skills needed to acquire new
knowledge and specialist skills in the future: learning how to learn. It is true that mandarin Chinese

Balzac Dialectical Journal
When I finished the book Luo had not yet returned, there was no doubt that he had gone to visit the
Little Seamstress so he could tell her this wonderful tale of Balzac s. In my mind s eye I could see Luo
telling her the story and the Little Seamstress listening vigorously open mouthed. As I was thinking
about her I felt a sudden stab of jealousy, a bitter emotion I had never felt before and my desire to be
with the Little Seamstress grew stronger. Later that day, Luo came back with leaves of a gingko tree.
We made love there, against the trunk ; those words made me feel somewhat sick in the heart, I didn t
even know that was possible. I strained to imagine it but words failed me... Why does Luo always get
everything? He even said himself

Essay on Mental Retardation in Flowers for Algernon
A drug to treat a type of mental retardation has showed promise. I chose this particular text because it
relates to my novel Flowers for Algernon this article states that a they ve discovered a drug that will
treat types of mental retardation and this relates to my book because Charlie the main character of
Flowers for Algernon was a mentally retarted man and a couple of scientists did an experimental
operation on him to boost his IQ and intelligence. In this article they state that the drug was tested on
mice . But recent studies with mice and other animals have given researchers hope that it may be
possible to develop treatments that improve cognition and behavior in conditions and in Flowers for

Charlie talks about Norma his younger sister the most but Charlie only remembers bad memories with
his sister for example Norma use to become jealous of he brother because she thought he was getting
special treatment. 2) In this novel flowers for Algernon Charlie s story is being told on how the first
human to be operated on to boost his intelligence is progressing and adapting to his new life. Norma
Gordon s Charlie s sister story isn t being told because Charlie doesn t really know his sister and they
live in different cities. And Charlie mother Rose story isn t told either because he only has bad
memories of her. 3) In this novel I feel that there are a couple of characters which have power in this
book flowers for Algernon. First the main Character and protagonist Charlie has power over if he s
going to continue with the progress reports and coming to the lab once a day to do tests on him. The
world is watching his steps of development and the more intelligent he becomes to more arrogant,
Selfish and egotistic he becomes and he has the power to that because this experiment is based on how
well he develops Nobody wants to get on his bad side. The second Character or should I say
characters which have power are the Doctors Prof Namur and Dr.Strauss they have power over
Charlie because they force him to do things which he does want to do for example Charlie feels that
the progress reports are a waste of time and the doctors became furious

Search And Seizure In Schools
As an educator, I, along with all educators, must be knowledgeable about the laws and school policies
in regards to search and seizures of students. Although I am aware of the state and school policies, the
school district I work for only wants the administration to deal with searches and seizures of students.
We must notify the administration immediately if we have reasonable suspicion of students violating
school rules or state laws. From there, the administration will conduct the search or other precautions
when or if they see fit. When searching book bags, purses, and lunch bags, the Mountain View School
District s handbook states, All book bags, purses, lunch bags, and back packs are subject to searches.

Again, my duty is only to transfer my knowledge and suspicion to my superiors. Also, it explains that
searches will take place either randomly or if there is reasonably suspicion. As stated in the PA Code,
the handbook makes sure to clarify that a student can be present during a search if they choose. Also,
it clearly states that any materials found will be used and handed to authorities if need be. Lastly, the
handbook makes sure to inform the students that the students rights and due process will be upheld the
whole time. Overall, I believe the handbook covers all guidelines and premises found in the New

The About Insane Clown Posse
Since the early ninety s, a controversial Detroit rap group known as Insane Clown Posse have boasted
about torturous murder methods and brutal killings within their music. Within hours of the release of
their debut album The great malinko the Southern Baptist Convention criticized Disney for signing the
group after proclaiming ICP was the devil s music. Disney instantly dropped ICP from the label and
removed their album from stores. Soon after, homicide reports started to spread with perpetrators
proclaiming themselves as Juggalos (Insane Clown Posse fans). The FBI listed ICP as a dangerous
gang, and, in many states, the group s live shows were cancelled. Despite their music being banned in
several countries and media outlets, this group continues to release music. Once a year the group and
its fans come together for what s known as The Gathering of the Juggalos in Thornville, Ohio. I
thought to infiltrate the gathering to gain insight on this homicidal culture and hopefully develop a
better understanding of how this all came to be.
Initially, my ride to the great state of Ohio was a pleasant scenic drive. Weaving in and out through the
Pennsylvania Poconos mountains, a refreshingly pleased feeling came over me thinking about the
events to come. It wasn t until after Pittsburgh that I started to notice some of the vehicles beside me
may have also been going to the gathering. Perhaps the fake blood stained hand print sheen on the
front of the Ford Bronco behind me indicated

The Avengers Research Paper
In the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, The Avengers have disbanded, with the heroes now
scattered around the world. However, intergalactic tyrant Thanos (Josh Brolin) is ready to execute his
grand plan to affix all six Infinity Stones to his gauntlet, to allow him to impose his will on reality and
re balance the universe by wiping out half of all life. If he amasses all of the stones, he will be able to
kill trillions with one snap of his finger. In a bid to protect the Time Stone, Tony Stark/Iron Man
(Robert Downey Jr.), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Peter Parker/Spider Man (Tom
Holland) find themselves transported to the desolate planet of Titan, Thanos s home world. The

Thanos represents the through line, creating a thankful cohesiveness to the narrative, not to mention
Thanos s grand plan creates an urgency which ensures the film is never boring despite its length.
Furthermore, while the movie does juggle at least thirty note worthy characters, it never feels bloated
or underdeveloped, thanks to the intricate format of the Marvel Cinema Universe. Whereas DC s
ambitious live action Justice League film fell flat on its face, the MCU s careful decade long world
building ensures that long time viewers know each character well enough to become sufficiently
invested in the chaos. Nevertheless, Gamora and Quill s romantic relationship should have been better
developed prior to the events of Infinity War, particularly since the two only got together at the end of
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 after two movies of Quill s schoolboy leering. The romantic angle does
play a significant role in the proceedings here, making it slightly disappointing that it s noticeably
underdone. However, there is only so much that the Infinity War screenwriters could achieve in a
single two and a half hour motion

vertebrate, possibly a relative of today s lampreys. Like a mismatched puzzle, the Tully monster lacks

the March issue of Palaeontology. (Palaeontology includes the study of fossils to determine organisms
evolution and interactions with each other and their environment, their paleoecology). Tullimonstrum

How to be an Ace Cashier So you want to know how to deal with customers, it might seem hard at
first but i ll teach you all that you ll need to know to become a cashier. Every customer is one of a
kind, all of them have different ways on how they speak, act and think. Overall there are the three
basic people that will come in being: Mr. Nice Guy, Mr. In And Out, The Drinkers (drunks). I have
been dealing will all types of these customers for years now, working in this pizza shop for a good two
years. Personally my first six months working here I was strictly just answering phones and being a

This customer can hardly make it thru the door, stumbling over their own feet. Grabbing onto anything
to stay standing while holding their alcoholic drink in the other hand. Having squinty eyes, a smirk of
a thousand smiles and barely being able to keep their heads up. The Drunks come in wearing all sorts
of different types of clothing, the guys wearing things ranging from tuxedos to halloween costumes
and the girls usually wearing dresses and clothes that are dressing to impress . They can go on and on
forever telling stories about their lives, but don t worry usually they are funny and upbeat adventures.
If you treat them right, The drunks generally leave tips ranging from five to twenty dollars and
sometimes you ll just get and absurd tip. The Drunks are the styrofoam take out boxes. Something to
just get by with, a container that you can eat on right then and their. Treated as a joke and is okay to
laugh at every once and awhile. Personally theses are my favorite customers to deal with, I love
having an enjoyable and amusing conversation with them. To cope with The Drunks is simple, keep
the conversations going, always look like you re intrigued with their stories. Smile and be happy they
love to joke around. They are almost like toddlers, they get entertained very easily. Speak in a less
intelligent way, not like you are stupid, be simple with the way you speech. The more and more you

Global Warming and Alternative Energy Sources Research Paper Global Warming and Alternative Energy People are inflicting major damage to the Earth s environment, and if we don t do anything to stop the destruction soon, the results could be devastating. Most people know about global warming and think it may be a serious problem in the future. What most people don t understand is that global warming is happening now, and we are already feeling some of its destructive power. Because of the dangerous effects of global warming, alternative energy sources need to be aggressively pursued. Finding and utilizing alternative energy sources may be the only way to combat the increase of global warming. Scientists agree that the main reason for global warming is the depletion of the ozone layer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a clean, practical alternative that would satisfy the world economy s growing energy demand. Today there are 212 nuclear power plants in the world and the number is expected to rise to 250 in the next five years. Nuclear power already provides 75% of power in France and 20% here in the United States (McQuinn). Like nuclear energy, wind energy is also becoming more popular and efficient. Large wind turbines powered completely by wind gusts generate up to 233 megawatts of power every minute (Roberts 12). Homeowners and farmers can now own their own wind turbines and have their unused energy purchased by energy companies. Wind energy is very popular in Germany especially where at least 33% of the countries energy comes completely from wind turbines (Roberts 13). Solar power is nothing completely new; it has been used for years to power small devices from calculators to watches, but what is new is its improved efficiency. Solar panels can be used to collect energy from the sun and now are being used on a much larger scale. Homeowners and business can use energy generated from the panels to power their homes and offices and have it purchased by energy suppliers. Solar power is proving to be an economical energy source available to the public that is consumer friendly. The newest and most exciting energy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Maximum security prisons and particularly super maximum security prisons such as Pelican Bay State Prison in California are designed to exert psychological control over violent inmates. The concept of psychological control was pioneered by an 18th century philosopher name Jeremy Bentham. Jeremy Bentham s method instilled self control over the incarcerated; however, it also caused numerous inmates to fall into severe depression, rage, anxiety, hallucination, and even suicide (Clear et al., 2013). Inmates who are placed in solitary confinement are considered as violent and dangerous; however, in the mix of these convicted offenders are mentally ill prisoners who require crisis care or psychiatric hospitalization (Metzner Fellner, 2010). Solitary confinement will affect any inmate whether they are diagnosed with mental disorders or not. Bentham s philosophy of psychological control has been criticized by critics of incarceration because it violates human life and dignity (Zara, 2013). A high profile serial killer such as Charles Manson may be sentenced in a super maximum security facility, but he is still entitled to basic human rights and dignity afforded to him under the Eighth Amendment. The United States ideology of maximum security prisons is completely different from the Europeans. The objective of U.S maximum security prisons is custody and discipline; whereas, European ... • 6. The Rise Of Japan During The 19th Century The relationship between the two nations has been noted by many scholars that there is a noticeable affront that has been built between the youth of the Japanese and the youth of the Chinese, which began in the 19th century when Japan began its rise to power in East Asia (Westad, 2013). The rise of Japan during the 19th century was seen as a slap in the face to the Chinese, who believed that they should be in control of East Asia that they were supposed to be the chosen nation, the leader of East Asia. These ideologies were said to be passed down from one generation to the next beginning under the leadership of Mao Zedong, and the founders of the Chinese Communist Party to the today (Westad, 2013). These ideologies have led too many Chinese regarding the wealth made by the Japanese, and Japan s relationships with the United States as ill gotten gains; Japan is currently the main Asian ally for the US (Westad, 2013). The belief was that wealth of the Japanese was meant for the Chinese and as history has progressed forward the belief has created a rife between the two nations that can be felt more now than it did when the nations were at war in 1937 (Westad, 2013). Ultimately, the Chinese Japanese rife came to a head when Japan rose to power during the 19th century, and incited a war due to their greed and expansionism. • 9. Marxist Reading Of One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Written in 1962, Ken Kesey s One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest is a timeless classic. This novel has been subject to analysis through many different literary lenses: feminist, Marxist, and of course, psychoanalytic. One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest provides a plethora of evidence when it comes to using the psychoanalytic lens. The lens in question deals with the teaching of Sigmund Freud. When reading this novel, the audience sees quite clearly that the world of psychology plays an impactful role in One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest. This is demonstrated by the author s own experiences, the use of mental illnesses, and the protagonist s return to sanity. The author of One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest, Ken Kesey, based this novel largely on his own experiences. As stated by David Wright in an article about Ken Kesey s life, Two of the clearest points of origin for the setting and events in One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest were Kesey s introduction to LSD in 1959 and the time that he spent working at the Veterans Administration (VA) hospital in Menlo Park, California, in 1961 (Wright 3). Kesey worked in the psychiatric ward at the VA hospital as a night aide, a job similar perhaps to that of Mr. Turkle in the novel (Wright 3). The job allowed him time to observe the day to day operation of a mental facility and granted him the opportunity to get to know some of the patients (Wright 3). Computer Space was the first video game to be produced, and it was created and developed by a company called Nutting Associates. In 1972, a company called Atari introduced a game called Pong . Atari was formed by a person named Nolan Bushnell, a developer of Computer Space, who left Nutting Associates to found Atari, which then produced Pong. Pong was the first successful commercial arcade video game . (How Stuff Works, 2017) How is a video game made? A video game is taken through a step by step process requiring five main steps. The first step to making the video game is the design or layout of the video game. The next step is to grabbing the materials needed to make the game. The materials needed to make the game are different for each game, and it is based on the game and/or game console. The third step in making a video game is going through the manufacturing process. Hasta Siempre, Comandante (Song for Che Guevara) is track six on the CD, it starts off with a slow tempo and soft voices in the background, almost as if you were outside, around a group of older men. It then accelerates to a type of tone that hints off a sad scenario in the lyrics. You can hear a membranophone in the background alongside a chordophone. The song La OEA, Me Causa Risa (The OAS Makes Me Laugh) has the vocalists literally laugh to the beat which sounds happy and up beat. I hear an idiophone and a chordophone. At the end of the song the men laugh outside of the tempo and in a way that frightens a little bit. The song on track eight is named Coplas del Pajarito (The Little Bird s Complaint), and it starts of by gradually speeding up the tempo. You can hear the song speed up between each stroke made on the chordophone being used. The singer sounds nasally with a quick vibrato in his voice at the end of certain words. The song Porque los Pobres no Tienen (Because the Poor Have Nothing) there is a woman singing with a warm voice along to a slow tempo. This particular sermon writing process focuses on the scripture text John1:1 18, and it will be written and preached in a style that reflects Anna Carter Florence s Testimonial Methodology. Choosing the Text: This particular sermon is being prepared for an evening vesper service on the first Sunday of Advent. This will be the third service of the day for this particular congregation, and it will follow the morning services, which will have been guided by the lectionary text for that day. For this particular service, candle light, and light in general, is a main theme. The congregation will sit within the sanctuary, and the only light will be from the candle light and Advent decoration. Also, this service is to help congregation members prepare their hearts for the Advent season in its entirety. It is a service that marks the beginning of an important journey. I chose the passage John1:1 18 in an attempt to meet the two main needs that this service requires, light imagery and preparation for the coming of Jesus. The light is significant in this text because the author refers to Jesus being the light for the world that sits in darkness, which seemed to me to be a great place to start for this particular service. Additionally, this passage is the gospel text for this upcoming Christmas Daily Text reading. I felt that if this is to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The subject then became controversial when more Mexican nationals, desperate for work, were willing to take on these backbreaking jobs at wages most Americans weren t willing to work for. American farm workers had reason to be concerned that the braceros would be competing with them for the same jobs but at lower wages. The original concept of the Bracero Program was to serve and protect both Mexican and domestic workers. For example, Americans would receive at least the minimum wage in the area of the current work; guaranteed employment for three fourths of the contract period; adequate, sanitary, and free housing; food provided at a low cost; job insurance would be at employer s expense; and free transportation back to Mexico was provided when the seasonal contract was up (Bracero History Archive, 2017) . The agriculture employers were also only supposed to hire braceros when there was high labor shortage, and were not to abuse the system. However, employers ignored many of these regulations and Mexican workers were used as strikebreakers while native workers were put out of a job. The only party who benefited from this injustice were the growers because they got cheap labor. This imbalance went unchecked and as a result farm wages dropped suddenly from the 1940s to the1950s, farm wages dropped sharply as a percentage of manufacturing wages, a result in part of the use of braceros and undocumented laborers who lacked full rights in American ... This evening was just like any other day because since I was small my dad had taken me with him on many of his hunting adventures. We gathered all of our needed gear such as the cross bow, the mono pod, and our cushioned seats. Then we set off, leaving our comfort of home for a relaxing evening together. I was hoping to get a chance at an elusive black bear. Unknowingly, this day became one of the most memorable days in my life, for a small brown haired reason. The wind was weaving its way harmoniously through the treetops at sunset. It created a mystifying ambiance within the forest. The sun was gleaming through the tree branches, leaving its last little slivers of warmth before dropping down below the hills for its lingering night s sleep. It almost seemed like a picturesque dream all together with the hushed silence. After conversing about all of our potential hunting spots, we decided to go up the steep knob where we had seen black bear sign before. We found a cozy spot right in front of an elongated stump. It was humid that evening. When we finally had reached our desired area, we were warmer than the black top on a hot summer s day. We took a few heavy layers off before we sat down.
