The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising In The Holocaust
Uprising in the Ghetto The Holocaust is a very known event. The Holocaust was the genocide of Jews
by the German Nazi Party. The Holocaust lasted from 1941 1945. One significance at this time period
was the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising that began on April 19, 1943. German soldiers, along with German
police officers, went into the ghettos to deport any remaining inhabitants ( Warsaw Ghetto Uprising ).
Although the Hitler and the Nazi Party felt like deporting Jews from their homes was right, the people
of the Warsaw Ghettos was not going down without a fight. Events led to the uprising, and many
events occurred during the uprising, but this was still a horrific period and no one should have to
experience what the Jews of Warsaw experienced. The same way every story has a conflict and rising
action, so does the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. This uprising happened during the middle of the
Holocaust. The conflict was that Jews were being deported to labor and concentration camps. The
rising actions would be that Jews formed organizations called the Żydowska Organizacja Bojowa
(ŻOB) and the Żydowski Związek Wojskowy (ŻZW) (Bell). The Jews of Warsaw began preparing
themselves for the uprising by obtaining weapons from the Polish underground, Jews in London, and
the United States (Bell). They smuggled goods into the ghettos and taught women and children how to
shoot guns (Bell). They stored food and made underground hideouts. We collected mattresses and
furniture, stated by

British Columbia Confederation
British Columbia is a rich and fertile land located next to the Northwest Territories. We believe that
joining confederation will bring a great benefit to not only our province but to all of the others. Our
deciding factors of joining the confederation are the Transcontinental Railroad, defence and allies
from the provinces, and more settlement which will eventually arrive (due to the railroad) in our
province. There are mountains blocking British Columbia, which is preventing us from fulfilling our
full potential as a colony. British Columbia is very remote for now but if we join confederation we can
offer British Columbia s gold, fur trade, fish and lastly lumber to our country. Our confederation will
be a union under the British monarchy which will create a new and successful dominion under the

We also needed this railroad because we also needed to bring in goods to help the people that live in
British Columbia, to live safe, healthy and good lives. The railroad would also help bring in more
people. This would help us fill more jobs and more of our goods could be traded out to other
provinces for some of our needs such as money. British Columbia is also on the very west of Canada
so we need this railroad to even be relevant to Canada and to help Canada be a great place. In 1858,
gold was found along the banks of the Thompson River just east of what is now Lytton, British
Columbia, triggering the Fraser River Gold Rush . When word got out to San Francisco about gold in
British territory, Victoria was transformed overnight into a tent city as prospectors, speculators, land
agents, and outfitters flooded in from around the world, mostly via San Francisco . The Hudson s Bay

Mary Schapiro s Job Was to Fix the Sec. She Didn t Stop...
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) was reeling in the wake of harsh but justified
criticism for failing to predict, control or even contain the global financial crisis. Under its watch,
fraudster Bernard Madoff managed to ¬operate the largest Ponzi scheme in history and Wall Street
stalwart Lehman Brothers collapsed, taking billions of dollars, business confidence and reputations
down with it. It was a heady time with traders investing in schemes they, let alone the regulators, didn

She called it the investor focused agenda, a hallmark of her stewardship. There was a sign on her
office door that read: How does it help investors? And she ¬expected everyone from staff to bankers
to members of an exchange to address the question in their discussions with her. Because if it doesn t,
we don t really have time for it right now. Maybe someday, but right now we are all about how do we
help investors, she used to say. I wanted to ensure we were on top of the largest investment banks that
were our responsibility and what risks they were presenting. What rules did we need to write or
actions did we need to take to make sure we understood this industry we were regulating? In this
period hedge funds were registered for the first time and the agency s examination program was
revised to make it more risk based. Rules also were set for over the counter derivatives and asset

Never Elsewhere Neil Gaiman Analysis
The world is a very interesting place. The earth has temperatures from 136 to 126 degrees Fahrenheit,
depths of over 35,000 feet, and heights of over 29,000 feet. These climates and elevations ultimately
shape the human world. Habitats everywhere from humid rainforest to the scorching desert each
support an ecosystem of their own. The setting of anything, whether a fantasy story or an academic
documentary, is very important. Nothing lives in a vacuum. The setting of the novel Neverwhere by
Neil Gaiman is a very interesting place which plays a pivotal role in the book s development of
character, plot, and theme.
The story takes place in London, with a young man named Richard Mayhew. Richard is an individual
with a good heart, beautiful fiancé, and an overall normal life. He and his fiancé, named Jessica, were
rushing towards a very important dinner with Mr. Stockton, a corporate entity and Jessica s boss, but
Richard stumbles by a little girl bleeding on a London sidewalk. The girl bloodied girl spits out
desperately that she cannot be taken to any hospital. Richard feeling drawn to the stranger picks up the
doll like body, feeling the blood soaking into his shirt, to care for her at his apartment. The situation is

Essay on Workplace Conflict
Workplace Conflicts between Team Members Conflict between team members will happen in the
workplace because the fact that there will have an environment where decisions are made and
personality clashes will occur. This doesn t mean you have an unproductive workforce, it means you
will have to be able to catch the problem early and know what to do with each individual case. People
are going to disagree because they have different view points, different backgrounds and a different
thought process, maybe even a different agenda for that project. People disagree for a number of
reasons (De Bono, 1985). College graduates will be put into positions of uncertainty due to the lack of
work history. This will in turn cause conflict, not knowing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using a third party will introduce new scenarios that will promote new thought process and cause
students to look at ways to stop conflict and see it coming. This helps in the way of making students
know that conversation and rationalization will resolve conflict instead of negativity (Freedman
Adam, 1996). Several situations that cause conflict negatively and positively, here are a few:
Ambiguous jurisdiction, unresolved prior conflicts, Differentiation in organization, Goal
incompatibility and conflict of interest, (Filey (1975). There are a great deal of positive outcomes from
conflict, it can bring individuals and groups closer together, open new avenues of thought processes
that might have been overlooked. Some companies will create conflict within a group or team to
observe a managers ability to handle the situation. This is a good method of gauging whether he or she
can see the conflict coming and turn it into a constructive learning experience so all team members are
positive. More managers are being put in these positions so they will know the right question to ask or
be able to generate the correct situation to defuse the problem before it escalates into a non productive
workforce. Teams also benefit from managers properly handling situations correctly, after awhile
teams will pick up on downward spirals and turn the situations around. All

October Crisis Flq
The federal government responded to the October Crisis by invoking the War Measures Act
A two page bill that fundamentally gave absolute power to the federal cabinet, and in doing so halted
the rights of all Canadians. (Pg. 161)
On October 15th, secret cabinet meetings took place in which emergency legislations were discussed.
In these meetings, Bourassa had requested on exclusive measures to help his fortified government.
Trudeau understood this to mean an amendment to the Criminal Code or extraordinary temporary
emergency legislation. (Pg. 166)
The cabinet was generally formal the emergency legislation. Within hours, the police prepared to jail

The And Hydroponics Will Change The World Produces Food
Aquaponics and hydroponics will change the way the world produces food. By 2050 the world
population is expected to exceed 9 Billion people. With an increasing population and decreasing farm
land, the world is beginning to face a serious problem in food production. Not only is the quantity of
food produced in jeopardy, the quality and variety are declining as well. Four types of plants provide
more than half the plant based calories wheat, maize, rice, and potatoes. Additionally, 90% of the
animal based protein consumed comes from only a dozen different species. What is the answer to
producing quality food at a quantity to sustain the world? Biodiversity. Biodiversity, the interaction
between different eco systems, has been shown to produce more and healthier food. Traditionally the
answer to feeding a quickly growing world has been to over fertilize, use genetic modification, and
ban the production of crops for use as biofuel. Unfortunately, there has been very little priority placed
on developing biodiversity as a means of sustainability. The research that has been done on
biodiversity, such as aquaponics and hydroponics, has shown that high quality food can be produced
quicker and with less resources than traditional growing. Aquaponics is the process of integrating
aquaculture, fish farming, with hydroponics, growing plants in water. Since use of unnatural products
such as chemicals, pesticides, and herbicides could potentially harm either the fish or the plans,

Perception That Can Be Damaging On The Business World
One common flaw in perception that can be damaging in the business world is stereotyping.
Stereotyping typically forms the basis for discrimination given that pre conceived attitudes and
behaviours are generated and associated with an individual or group. Albeit, an economical and
effortless mechanism of the perceptual process, it categorically associates characteristics that may not
be valid, and those that are influenced by selective experiences or segmented biased information
presented by the media. A common, yet, overlooked area of stereotyping that frequently perpetuates
into discrimination includes the attitudes and behaviours towards disabled persons in the workforce. A
lot of research on workplace discrimination has focused on gender and racial discrimination.
However, although many businesses are accommodating to the various needs of individuals with
disabilities, research for workplace integration and employment equality for disabled persons is
limited. Individual perceptions and biases towards disabled person is multidimensional and complex.
Factors that contribute to these perceptions include overtness, risk to interacting parties and response
of the disabled individual to the environment (Thomas).
Disabled persons are typically underrepresented in the workforce. Many are willing and capable of
working, however, employers may have pre defined concepts of their abilities and may be unwilling to
provide the accommodation s required for disabled persons to

1. Abstract
The firm internationalization literature is extensive, but dominated by studies of technical, often large,
firms. The service firm internationalization literature is slowly growing. Few international
contributions are found investigating the advertising industry and no such studies focus on the
Swedish market. The PR industry has been internationally neglected. This study investigates four
advertising agencies and four PR agencies in the Swedish market. The eight case agencies confirm
traditional internationalization motives, but also new motives are found, such as the foreign ... Show

Lastly, these authors used quantitative research method, which generally limits the freedom of the
respondents in answering questions. The Public Relations, PR, industry has been internationally
neglected. A possible explanation to this neglect is that this industry has been assumed to be the same
as the advertising industry. The gap in research should by now be evident! Despite a growing body of
service literature, the internationalization of the advertising industry and the Public Relations industry
in Sweden has remained unchartered territories for research. The internationalization motives and the
entry modes for the advertising industry in USA are somewhat known, but the PR industry is
neglected internationally. The link between motives and entry modes in the advertising industry is
blurry even from an international perspective and the latest contribution was released in year 1990.
Furthermore, it is unclear what importance the concept of psychic distance (Johanson and Vahlne
1977; Johanson and Wiedersheim Paul 1975) has for the international expansion in these industries
and if and how business contacts

enables these industries to internationalize (Johanson and Mattsson 1988). Additionally, there is no
recent research focusing on these industries after the globalization of services and the enhanced
importance of services in the World and in Sweden. Finally, a case study approach has not been
conducted yet in this matter. The Dissertation

Essay on Smoke signals
The movie Smoke Signal is a story that portrays what a Native American really means. It is a movie
based on story written by Sherman Alexie. Thomas is the narrator of the story. It s just not a simple
movie but it has meaning to it, which is the best thing about the movie. It shows the life of Indians and
how their life was and what they had to deal with. The movie has two main characters name Victor
and Thomas. The movie starts with a house that goes on fire and the man (Arnold Joseph) Victor s
father saves Thomas and Victor from the fire Victor the main character plays the role of a typical

On their way back, they get into an accident and there was a lady who needed help in the accident.
Victor remembers what Suzy said him about his dad that in the fire that took place when he was a
baby, his dad always wanted to help him and he did went back to save his life. This hits on his mind
and he decides to get help for the lady. His thoughts about his dad changes. At the end of the movie
Victor disperses the remains of his father in the river and forgives him for what he did before.
I really like the movie and the story was very different than any other movies. Sherman s way of
writing the stories seems very unique and could not tell what would happen next in the movie. When
Victor knew about his father s death I was thinking he would not go to Phoenix to get his remains
since he had hatred towards him but he decides to go which was surprising. It was always funny how
Thomas kept telling stories about different stuffs to Victor even though he knew Victor don t like to
hear them. The author has tried to show the culture of Indians, the thoughts of people, how they dealt
their life through his stories which I really found interesting and something different to learn. The
author has showed how life was back then and I liked the fact he tried to show what impact it can have
to a child s mind if he sees his father drinking alcohol and tormenting his mother

Greek Vs. Norse Mythology
Greek Vs. Norse Mythology Assignment; Matisse Piper
The myths of Thor and Zeus come from the Greek and Norse tradition. Both are Gods of lightning,
thunder, and both mythological characters have been featured in spectacular movies. Thor was
considered the storm and weather god of the sky as well as thunder. He is one of the most prominent
figures in Norse mythology. Zeus was the god of the sky and ruler of the Olympian gods. Both of
these Gods structures were very similar and they are perceived to be very close in comparison, even
though their stories are very different. I believe that both gods are still very relevant today s world,
even though they were said to be recounted millions of years ago. Thor was the God of thunder and
lighting in Norse tradition. He was the most loved and worshiped Norse God even though Odin, Thor
s father, had more authority and held a higher throne. The sole reason this Norse god appealed to so
many was because he was associated with common people. His powers were a crucial part to growing
crops and as the Norse mythology was a key foundation of early Germanic people, before ... Show

Utah Lake Speech
I am writing to you today to talk about the state of Utah Lake and how to clean it up. Utah Lake is the
only lake that is easy to access without going on an hour or longer car trip from Utah Valley. Because
of that we should try and make Utah Lake more tourist friendly and better looking. This would bring
more people there and make it a better experience to be there. In its current state Utah Lake isn t a
very attractive destination. Utah Lake got 134,000 visits in 2017 which is pretty high compared to
other parks in Utah but it isn t that much compared the more visited state parks. When most people
think of Utah they probably think of Southern Utah. You could have more tourists come to more
places in Utah other than Southern Utah by giving more natural options in Central and Northern Utah.
Utah lake is already a pretty nice place to go and fish but other than that there is not much else to do.
You could make it a nice place to go swimming which would bring a lot more people than just fishers.
The three main causes for Utah Lake not being an attractive place are its high phosphorus levels, the
lake being shallow, and the non native carp living there. All of these factors work together to make

The solution to the carp problem is easy. You can either reward people for turning in carp to
incentivise people to not put the carp back and or you could send boats onto the lake that fish

the lake to stop the phosphorus from going up, and then adding or breeding more fish into the lake to
naturally get rid of the phosphorus. But with adding fish you will have to make sure that it doesn t
upset the balance. In conclusion the solutions are pretty easy to pull off so it you shouldn t need to put

For example, since the dominant setting of the movie is Norman Bates house and motel, and it is
located in an isolated place which suggests that it is a horror and mystery movie. Moreover, the
isolated setting tells us the character of Norman is lonely and he is more likely to be affected by a
psychological disease.
The choice in Mise En Scene in terms of lightning and shooting angle in the shower scene where
Marion was killed is very interesting. For example, when the killer was trying to kill Marion, the killer
s face was not shown because of the choices made in lighting and shooting angle, which leaves the
audience in suspense about the killer s identity. Also, the choices made in dressing the murderer as an
old lady convince the audience to believe that it is Norman s mother who has killed Marion.
The shower scene is very long and it is pivotal to the movie because it is a mixture of horror, suspense,
and mystery. Most of the shots in the shower scene are close up shots, including the shots of the
shower water and shots of Marion s body which includes but not limited to her legs before the murder
and her back, face, and hands after the murder. These close up are intended to feel emotions and create
suspense for the audience. Apart from this, the shower scene shows continuity cutting because
different shots are taken and edited to show a consistency of the scene in the

The Influence Of Learners First Language
The influence of learners first language (L1) plays a significant role in learning a second language
(L2). In general, numerous studies have been investigating L1 transfer. In specific, the influence of
Arabic, more specifically Saudi Arabic, in learning English has been examined to demonstrate the
native language transfer in L2 learning (Binturki, 2008; Grami and Alzughaibi, 2012; among others).
Based on the influence of L1 and universal markedness (things that are present in a small number of
languages), Eckman (1977) proposes the Markedness Differential Hypothesis (MDH). It helps
predicting errors that L2 learners will have based on a comparison between L1 and L2 and universal
markedness. The aim of the present study is to examine to what extent the MDH can account for
mispronunciation of word final voiced stops by Saudi Arabian learners of English. The results of this
study contradict the MDH. Despite the fact that both Saudi Arabic and English have voiced stops word
finally, the Saudi Arabian learners did not produce the voiced stops in coda positions correctly. The
subjects tended mostly to either substitute or devoiced final voiced stops. This paper will start with a
brief discretion of the word final voiced stops (/b d g/) in Saudi Arabic and English. Then, an

History Of Marketing And The Marketing Strategy
The history of marketing can be traced back to the longest possible time probably further than you
thought. It will not be an exaggeration to say that it is as old as civilization itself. The probability of
success of any business lies in the marketing strategy it adopts. Simply put, if you are not marketing
your business, you are in for a loss. While this concept remained unchanged, the ways of marketing
have changed several folds over the last few centuries.

1730 s Magazines Used as a Marketing Tool
One of the earliest examples of magazine is Erbauliche Monaths Unterredungen, a literary and
philosophy magazine, which was first published in 1663 in Germany. The Gentleman s Magazine
which was first published in 1731 in London, is considered as the first general interest magazine.
Edward Cave, who edited The Gentleman s Magazine under the pen name Sylvanus Urban , was the
first one to use the term magazine, which was derived from the Arabic makhazin (or, storehouses).
One of the oldest consumer magazines still in print is The Scots Magazine, which was first published

Fly By Wire Essay
Aircraft Feature; Fly By Wire Technology Fly by wire is a new technology in aircrafts that has
replaced the manual flight control with electronic controls. In this technology the flight control signals
are converted into electrical signals which are transmitted to the processors through electric wires and
the computer determines the movement of the actuators according to the control command (Crane
2002). Moreover, this system sends out certain commands to the computer without any input from the
pilot, these commands are mainly transmitted for a more stable flight. The fly by wire system also
allows automatic signals sent by the aircraft s computers to perform functions without the pilot s input,
as in systems that automatically help stabilize the aircraft. Mechanical and hydro mechanical flight
controls system comprise of all heavy steel cables, metallic pipes with hydraulic fluid, cables and
pulleys which adds to the air craft total weight thus slowing it down and decreasing its full efficiency.
Both systems frequently need unnecessary backup to tackle mechanical failures, which further
increases weight. Additionally, both have inadequate capability to adjust to changing aerodynamic
conditions. Dangerous maneuverability such as stalling, spinning and pilot induced oscillation (PIO),
which is dependent chiefly on the strength and configuration of the aircraft concerned rather than the
control system itself, can still occur with these systems (Crane 2002). The word

What Is The Theme Of The Interpreter Of Maladies
A Scrap of Paper in Jhumpa Lahiri s Interpreter of Maladies
I. General Introduction Jhumpa Lahiri s Interpreter of Maladies is a short story about a doctor s
interpreter who moonlights as a tourist guide in the backdrop of India s hot July tourist season. At the
heart of the story is an absorbing commentary of the disappointments and desperations reigning in
contemporary marriages. Her portrayal of the protagonist, Mr. Kapasi, expresses a soul in resigned
stupor awakened by a dream of a passionate friendship with a married woman, Mrs. Das, whose long
lost passionate love equaled his. Lahiri succeeded in depicting a realistic development of that tempting

Das had accorded her. An atmosphere of distance emanated between them. Mr. Das did his
photography; she tried to explore her own opportunities to enjoy the temple on her own. Neither of
them even tried to look after the children. Married in an early age, she had not matured enough to
really experience love. Only Mr. Kapasi, with his untarnished values of love expressed in fidelity and
honesty, seemed to have understood what was missing. At the end of the story, Lahiri provided Mrs.
Das no means of redemption.
Mr. Raj Das: Lahir described Mr. Das as a husband as mentally unprepared to a married relationship
as his wife Mina. Throughout the story, he had treated his wife with mild neglect, consuming himself
with the affairs of photography instead of enjoying the event closely with her. And, it is not difficult to
presume that, even back home Mina had to suffer the same unspoken rejection. His impotence at
watching Bobby attacked by monkeys, however, could be due either to timidity and cowardice, or
perhaps, he somehow felt Bobby was not his child.

Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, unparalleled success made him a household name around the

The Searchers Essay
Development and adaptation of the western genre has occurred throughout the twentieth century in
relation to the shift in context, this is still relevant. Stereotypes of a western genre and the context are
determined by the time in which the film is being produced. The time in which they were produced
determine how social construction, gender ideas, values and attitudes, the setting and SWAT codes are
demonstrated. I have chosen to present this speech by looking at the film studied in class, and a film of
my choice and how the difference in context has changed in the tie of these two films.
Changes and developments in the context can be recognized and analyzed when looking at an example

This is similar to the opening scene of The Searchers because, both scenes are isolated, in both movies
the characters are alone or civilization is too far, they lie in the quite part of things. They both open
with a suspenseful mood. Conflict is present in the both of the films, heroes and villains present.
Moving onto gender roles and ideas, these characteristics in genders are needed in any sort of story to
suit the values and attitudes of the people of that time. Gender stereotypes are a major piece to the
puzzle of a film. Women are generally seen as less dominant, pushovers, the cares of everyone and
that they have no independence. Whist men are seen as the more dominant, masculine, heroes, brave
and courageous. This is across all genres of movies, the girl is the damsel in distress and the boy ends
up saving her at the end of it.
These stereotypes were strongly enforced when in The Searchers the Reverend comes to the family s
house to announce that the father is setting off with him to battle the Indians. The men are looked
after, they have their coats taken off them and they are served food and drink, whereas the woman re
running around after them ensure they re satisfied, when the men set off the women collect for them
there hat and give them to the men leaving. This is a perfect example of the typical housewife
stereotype in a western film. The women were always the carers and the men were the bread winners,

Fishing for Trouble Essay
In 1999 near the Galapagos Islands, Rob Stewart, 22, an underwater photographer and filmmaker, was
driving when he discovered something that changed his life forever. It was a long line fishing rig hung
with hundreds of dead sharks on a single fishing line that Stewart explained had the potential to reach
from Earth to space. This fishing line is known by conservationists as a curtain of death (Kielburger).
Overfishing is the fishing of a species at levels too high for the species to reproduce. This can greatly
reduce fish population and drive species toward extinction. Fishing has provided the world with food
and jobs that have remodeled Earth s cultures and lifestyles. Fishing is practiced by local fishermen,
commercial fishing rigs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When fish populations are low in one area, fishing boats will need to move to another area where fish
are more abundant. This renders oceans and their sea life helpless and severely damaged until all of
the fish in the oceans are completely gone. That is why governments need laws establishing the length
of time a person could spend at sea fishing, in order to reduce overfishing and increase recovery of
fish populations. One example of a fish population suffering from overfishing is the Pacific bluefin
tuna. Overfishing has left the world with less than five percent of its Pacific Bluefin tuna, says the
Pew Environment Group (Kowalski). This statement explains to the world how overfishing can
drastically decrease a species population in an extraordinarily short time period. The Pacific bluefin
tuna and other fish are very much stressed by overfishing, and suffer severe losses of population every
day. Moreover, overfishing will soon lead to the extinction of fish species like the Pacific bluefin tuna.
The European Commission even admits that the EU s [European Union] stocks are 88% overfished (
An Icelandic Success ). This reveals Europe s failure to prevent overfishing from spreading
throughout the continent and beyond its borders. The majority of Europe s fish supply undergoes the
harmful effects that overfishing brings. Additionally, the fish

The Importance Of Family Structure In Middle Childhood
One of the greatest needs for a child s cognitive, physical, and emotional/social development is family
structure; or as Kathleen Berger states in Invitation to the Life Span (2012), Harmony and stability... is
especially crucial in middle childhood: Children cherish safety and stability.... Therefore, the
functionality of a family plays a major role in the future of a child s well being. This is especially true
in the dynamics between the mother and father, because as Berger goes on to state,
Some families function well, others are dysfunctional. Function is more important than structure,
although harder to measure. Some family functions are needed by everyone at every age, such as love
and encouragement. Beyond that, what people need from their families differs depending on how old
they are: Infants need responsive caregiving, teenagers need guidance, young adults need freedom, the
aged need respect (Berger 2012).
What is more, the dysfunction of families is not that uncommon in the life a child. For example, some
children experience family dysfunction in middle childhood as their parents marriage crumbles and
eventually ends in divorce. This process becomes a major stressor in the child s life, creating long
lasting potential effects on the child s development. Therefore, this type of stressor can stunt a child s
development, have a range of impacts depending on the child s age, and yet, children can become
amazingly resilient even when their parents divorce. First of

Lou Gehrig’s Farewell Speech Essay
Lou Gehrig s Farewell Speech Throughout the course of American history, there have been copious
amounts of famous speeches, spoken by many different people. From political figures to sports

farewell speech , given on July 4th, 1939, to more than 62,000 fans at New York City s Yankee

lateral sclerosis (a.k.a. Lou Gehrig s disease); Lou Gehrig would never play baseball again. The
purpose of his farewell speech was to formally address his fans all over the world, and confirm the
rumors that Gehrig would never play baseball again. There are several different structures that could
be used to describe this speech, but the main structure is cause and effect. A lot of Gehrig s fans
believed that this unfortunate diagnosis would cause some sort of depression, anger within himself, or
withdrawal from the American people. This was not the case, however. Gehrig s first line of his
speech, Fans, for the past two weeks you have been reading about the bad break I got. Yet today I
consider myself the luckiest man on the face of this Earth. Clearly shows cause and effect structure.
The diagnosis of Lou Gehrig s disease did not cause Gehrig to be depressed; rather, it caused Gehrig
to be thankful for what he had. Throughout this speech, each form of rhetoric is used. The first
obvious rhetorical appeal would be Ethos. A prestigious sports figure like Lou Gehrig definitely has
ethos appeal. Lou Gehrig got the attention of thousands maybe millions of people when he gave his

Elements Of Romanticism In The Scarlet Letter
Romanticism writing started in the early 1800 s, and it expressed seven elements of American
Literature, ranging from the value on individualism to the supernatural. Two pieces of writing that
developed during this time were, The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne and Civil Disobedience
by Henry David Thoreau. The Scarlet Letter is a novel about a woman, Hester Prynne, who committed
adultery with the minister, Arthur Dimmesdale and has to proceed with her life by being shamed. In
Civil Disobedience, Thoreau discusses how individuals should not let government overpower and
have unjust laws. Therefore, romantic writers use the elements of value on individualism and the
reliance on instinct through irony and metaphors to show how members of high society, who break
their own rules, inflict their hypocrisy on others.
One such writer who used the romantic element of reliance on instinct through metaphors is Nathaniel
Hawthorne. The romantic element of reliance on instinct is the idea that spark of God is within
everyone making one s instinct reliable. In The Scarlet Letter Dimmesdale was to meet Pearl and
Hester in their meeting spot, the forest since he cannot be seen with them in public due to his status in
society as a minister. In effect, Pearl asks Hester Prynne And, mother, he has his hand over his heart!
Is it because... the Black Man set his mark in that place? But why does he not wear it outside his
bosom, as thou dost, mother? (Hawthorne, 184). As one

The Monroe Doctrine
James Monroe served as the fifth President of the United States. The United States was an
independent country with the goals of becoming a great nation. The country was growing, and its
citizens shared a common belief of advancing the well being of America. During his administration,
President Monroe begins his efforts of promoting the growth of America by removing the Cherokee
from a treaty and failing to recognize them as an independent nation. Furthermore, the Monroe
administration created the Monroe Doctrine to extend the United States Sphere of Influence in the
Western Hemisphere. Monroe was correct in performing both actions because it advanced the interests
of America by paving the way for future expansion and establishing the United States dominance over
the Western Hemisphere. The United States were looking to advance the nation interests by expanding
its land territory. For America to thrive, more land would be needed for the future existence of the
country. However, the Cherokee, an Native American tribe owned land across the Southeastern region
of North America. In previous years there were treaties between the government and the Cherokee
people, which recognized them as a sovereign nation. The Cherokee occupied land in Georgia, which
many in the state requested the federal government to abandon the agreement and remove the Native
Americans from the land. The state of Georgia believed the Cherokee impeded upon the future
expansion and the use of resources

  • 2. The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising In The Holocaust Uprising in the Ghetto The Holocaust is a very known event. The Holocaust was the genocide of Jews by the German Nazi Party. The Holocaust lasted from 1941 1945. One significance at this time period was the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising that began on April 19, 1943. German soldiers, along with German police officers, went into the ghettos to deport any remaining inhabitants ( Warsaw Ghetto Uprising ). Although the Hitler and the Nazi Party felt like deporting Jews from their homes was right, the people of the Warsaw Ghettos was not going down without a fight. Events led to the uprising, and many events occurred during the uprising, but this was still a horrific period and no one should have to experience what the Jews of Warsaw experienced. The same way every story has a conflict and rising action, so does the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. This uprising happened during the middle of the Holocaust. The conflict was that Jews were being deported to labor and concentration camps. The rising actions would be that Jews formed organizations called the Żydowska Organizacja Bojowa (ŻOB) and the Żydowski Związek Wojskowy (ŻZW) (Bell). The Jews of Warsaw began preparing themselves for the uprising by obtaining weapons from the Polish underground, Jews in London, and the United States (Bell). They smuggled goods into the ghettos and taught women and children how to shoot guns (Bell). They stored food and made underground hideouts. We collected mattresses and furniture, stated by ... We believe that joining confederation will bring a great benefit to not only our province but to all of the others. Our deciding factors of joining the confederation are the Transcontinental Railroad, defence and allies from the provinces, and more settlement which will eventually arrive (due to the railroad) in our province. There are mountains blocking British Columbia, which is preventing us from fulfilling our full potential as a colony. British Columbia is very remote for now but if we join confederation we can offer British Columbia s gold, fur trade, fish and lastly lumber to our country. We also needed this railroad because we also needed to bring in goods to help the people that live in British Columbia, to live safe, healthy and good lives. The railroad would also help bring in more people. This would help us fill more jobs and more of our goods could be traded out to other provinces for some of our needs such as money. British Columbia is also on the very west of Canada so we need this railroad to even be relevant to Canada and to help Canada be a great place. In 1858, gold was found along the banks of the Thompson River just east of what is now Lytton, British Columbia, triggering the Fraser River Gold Rush . When word got out to San Francisco about gold in British territory, Victoria was transformed overnight into a tent city as prospectors, speculators, land agents, and outfitters flooded in from around the world, mostly via San Francisco . The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) was reeling in the wake of harsh but justified criticism for failing to predict, control or even contain the global financial crisis. Under its watch, fraudster Bernard Madoff managed to ¬operate the largest Ponzi scheme in history and Wall Street stalwart Lehman Brothers collapsed, taking billions of dollars, business confidence and reputations down with it. And she ¬expected everyone from staff to bankers to members of an exchange to address the question in their discussions with her. Because if it doesn t, we don t really have time for it right now. Maybe someday, but right now we are all about how do we help investors, she used to say. I wanted to ensure we were on top of the largest investment banks that were our responsibility and what risks they were presenting. What rules did we need to write or actions did we need to take to make sure we understood this industry we were regulating? The Crown could keep a detainee for a week before arranging them with a crime. Also, the attorney general could request, before the week ended, that the implicated be detained for up three weeks. • 10. The And Hydroponics Will Change The World Produces Food Aquaponics and hydroponics will change the way the world produces food. By 2050 the world population is expected to exceed 9 Billion people. With an increasing population and decreasing farm land, the world is beginning to face a serious problem in food production. Not only is the quantity of food produced in jeopardy, the quality and variety are declining as well. Four types of plants provide more than half the plant based calories wheat, maize, rice, and potatoes. Additionally, 90% of the animal based protein consumed comes from only a dozen different species. What is the answer to producing quality food at a quantity to sustain the world? Biodiversity. Biodiversity, the interaction between different eco systems, has been shown to produce more and healthier food. Traditionally the answer to feeding a quickly growing world has been to over fertilize, use genetic modification, and ban the production of crops for use as biofuel. Unfortunately, there has been very little priority placed on developing biodiversity as a means of sustainability. The research that has been done on biodiversity, such as aquaponics and hydroponics, has shown that high quality food can be produced quicker and with less resources than traditional growing. Aquaponics is the process of integrating aquaculture, fish farming, with hydroponics, growing plants in water. Since use of unnatural products such as chemicals, pesticides, and herbicides could potentially harm either the fish or the plans, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Perception That Can Be Damaging On The Business World One common flaw in perception that can be damaging in the business world is stereotyping. Stereotyping typically forms the basis for discrimination given that pre conceived attitudes and behaviours are generated and associated with an individual or group. Albeit, an economical and effortless mechanism of the perceptual process, it categorically associates characteristics that may not be valid, and those that are influenced by selective experiences or segmented biased information presented by the media. A common, yet, overlooked area of stereotyping that frequently perpetuates into discrimination includes the attitudes and behaviours towards disabled persons in the workforce. A lot of research on workplace discrimination has focused on gender and racial discrimination. However, although many businesses are accommodating to the various needs of individuals with disabilities, research for workplace integration and employment equality for disabled persons is limited. Individual perceptions and biases towards disabled person is multidimensional and complex. Factors that contribute to these perceptions include overtness, risk to interacting parties and response of the disabled individual to the environment (Thomas). Disabled persons are typically underrepresented in the workforce. Many are willing and capable of working, however, employers may have pre defined concepts of their abilities and may be unwilling to provide the accommodation s required for disabled persons to ... Lastly, these authors used quantitative research method, which generally limits the freedom of the respondents in answering questions. The Public Relations, PR, industry has been internationally neglected. A possible explanation to this neglect is that this industry has been assumed to be the same as the advertising industry. The gap in research should by now be evident! Despite a growing body of service literature, the internationalization of the advertising industry and the Public Relations industry in Sweden has remained unchartered territories for research. The internationalization motives and the entry modes for the advertising industry in USA are somewhat known, but the PR industry is neglected internationally. The link between motives and entry modes in the advertising industry is blurry even from an international perspective and the latest contribution was released in year 1990. Furthermore, it is unclear what importance the concept of psychic distance (Johanson and Vahlne 1977; Johanson and Wiedersheim Paul 1975) has for the international expansion in these industries and if and how business contacts 5 enables these industries to internationalize (Johanson and Mattsson 1988). Both are Gods of lightning, thunder, and both mythological characters have been featured in spectacular movies. Thor was considered the storm and weather god of the sky as well as thunder. He is one of the most prominent figures in Norse mythology. Zeus was the god of the sky and ruler of the Olympian gods. Both of these Gods structures were very similar and they are perceived to be very close in comparison, even though their stories are very different. I believe that both gods are still very relevant today s world, even though they were said to be recounted millions of years ago. Thor was the God of thunder and lighting in Norse tradition. He was the most loved and worshiped Norse God even though Odin, Thor s father, had more authority and held a higher throne. Utah Lake is the only lake that is easy to access without going on an hour or longer car trip from Utah Valley. Because of that we should try and make Utah Lake more tourist friendly and better looking. This would bring more people there and make it a better experience to be there. In its current state Utah Lake isn t a very attractive destination. Utah Lake got 134,000 visits in 2017 which is pretty high compared to other parks in Utah but it isn t that much compared the more visited state parks. When most people think of Utah they probably think of Southern Utah. You could have more tourists come to more places in Utah other than Southern Utah by giving more natural options in Central and Northern Utah. Utah lake is already a pretty nice place to go and fish but other than that there is not much else to do. You could make it a nice place to go swimming which would bring a lot more people than just fishers. The choice in Mise En Scene in terms of lightning and shooting angle in the shower scene where Marion was killed is very interesting. In general, numerous studies have been investigating L1 transfer. In specific, the influence of Arabic, more specifically Saudi Arabic, in learning English has been examined to demonstrate the native language transfer in L2 learning (Binturki, 2008; Grami and Alzughaibi, 2012; among others). Based on the influence of L1 and universal markedness (things that are present in a small number of languages), Eckman (1977) proposes the Markedness Differential Hypothesis (MDH). It helps predicting errors that L2 learners will have based on a comparison between L1 and L2 and universal markedness. The aim of the present study is to examine to what extent the MDH can account for mispronunciation of word final voiced stops by Saudi Arabian learners of English. The results of this study contradict the MDH. Despite the fact that both Saudi Arabic and English have voiced stops word finally, the Saudi Arabian learners did not produce the voiced stops in coda positions correctly. In this technology the flight control signals are converted into electrical signals which are transmitted to the processors through electric wires and the computer determines the movement of the actuators according to the control command (Crane 2002). Moreover, this system sends out certain commands to the computer without any input from the pilot, these commands are mainly transmitted for a more stable flight. The fly by wire system also allows automatic signals sent by the aircraft s computers to perform functions without the pilot s input, as in systems that automatically help stabilize the aircraft. Mechanical and hydro mechanical flight controls system comprise of all heavy steel cables, metallic pipes with hydraulic fluid, cables and pulleys which adds to the air craft total weight thus slowing it down and decreasing its full efficiency. Both systems frequently need unnecessary backup to tackle mechanical failures, which further increases weight. Additionally, both have inadequate capability to adjust to changing aerodynamic conditions. • 34. The Importance Of Family Structure In Middle Childhood One of the greatest needs for a child s cognitive, physical, and emotional/social development is family structure; or as Kathleen Berger states in Invitation to the Life Span (2012), Harmony and stability... is especially crucial in middle childhood: Children cherish safety and stability.... Therefore, the functionality of a family plays a major role in the future of a child s well being. This is especially true in the dynamics between the mother and father, because as Berger goes on to state, Some families function well, others are dysfunctional. Function is more important than structure, although harder to measure. Some family functions are needed by everyone at every age, such as love and encouragement. Beyond that, what people need from their families differs depending on how old they are: Infants need responsive caregiving, teenagers need guidance, young adults need freedom, the aged need respect (Berger 2012). What is more, the dysfunction of families is not that uncommon in the life a child. For example, some children experience family dysfunction in middle childhood as their parents marriage crumbles and eventually ends in divorce. This process becomes a major stressor in the child s life, creating long lasting potential effects on the child s development. Therefore, this type of stressor can stunt a child s development, have a range of impacts depending on the child s age, and yet, children can become amazingly resilient even when their parents divorce. Gehrig was diagnosed with a rare degenerative disease called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (a.k.a. Lou Gehrig s disease); Lou Gehrig would never play baseball again. The purpose of his farewell speech was to formally address his fans all over the world, and confirm the rumors that Gehrig would never play baseball again. There are several different structures that could be used to describe this speech, but the main structure is cause and effect. A lot of Gehrig s fans believed that this unfortunate diagnosis would cause some sort of depression, anger within himself, or withdrawal from the American people. This was not the case, however. Gehrig s first line of his speech, Fans, for the past two weeks you have been reading about the bad break I got. Yet today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of this Earth. Clearly shows cause and effect structure. The diagnosis of Lou Gehrig s disease did not cause Gehrig to be depressed; rather, it caused Gehrig to be thankful for what he had. • 36. Elements Of Romanticism In The Scarlet Letter Romanticism writing started in the early 1800 s, and it expressed seven elements of American Literature, ranging from the value on individualism to the supernatural. Two pieces of writing that developed during this time were, The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne and Civil Disobedience by Henry David Thoreau. The Scarlet Letter is a novel about a woman, Hester Prynne, who committed adultery with the minister, Arthur Dimmesdale and has to proceed with her life by being shamed. In Civil Disobedience, Thoreau discusses how individuals should not let government overpower and have unjust laws. Therefore, romantic writers use the elements of value on individualism and the reliance on instinct through irony and metaphors to show how members of high society, who break their own rules, inflict their hypocrisy on others. One such writer who used the romantic element of reliance on instinct through metaphors is Nathaniel Hawthorne. The romantic element of reliance on instinct is the idea that spark of God is within everyone making one s instinct reliable. In The Scarlet Letter Dimmesdale was to meet Pearl and Hester in their meeting spot, the forest since he cannot be seen with them in public due to his status in society as a minister. The country was growing, and its citizens shared a common belief of advancing the well being of America. During his administration, President Monroe begins his efforts of promoting the growth of America by removing the Cherokee from a treaty and failing to recognize them as an independent nation. Monroe was correct in performing both actions because it advanced the interests of America by paving the way for future expansion and establishing the United States dominance over the Western Hemisphere. The United States were looking to advance the nation interests by expanding its land territory. For America to thrive, more land would be needed for the future existence of the country.
