1.3 Historical Changes
1. Identify three historical changes in the family that impacted women or men negatively in society,
and explain how they impacted women or men?
A. One historical change that impacted men and women negative was when paid work shifted from
home and farm to mills and factories, shops and offices (Kimmel 156). Both women and men were
impacted with such a change because fathers spent more time away from their kids and left a lot of
child rearing was seen as women.
B. A second change that impacted the family in society was the divorce rate climbed since soldiers
returned from the Civil War (Kimmel 156 157). The divorce rate impacted the family because it
separated the custody of children; it impacted the way the children were being raised.
C. Lastly, one important change that impacted the family was support for separate spheres and the

Arguments for gay and lesbian families is a concern for the sanctity of marriage is often accompanied
by a discomfort with the idea of gay and lesbian families, based on misinformation about the quality
of those relationships and their impact on children (Kimmel 184). Arguments that support gay and
lesbian families are mainly focused on having the same equal rights as heterosexuals. Many gay and
lesbian couples want to get married because of the benefits they acquire such as the right to inherit
from a spouse who dies without a will, the right to consult with doctors and make crucial decisions
(Kimmel 184). A meta analysis of social studies of gay and lesbian parenting suggests that children are
more accepting of homosexuality and maybe more likely to indicate a willingness to consider
homosexual relationships themselves (Kimmel 186). Another great example is daughters of lesbian
and gay parents are more assertive, confident, and ambitious, and sons are less conforming to
traditional masculine aggression and domination and have a better understanding of their gender
identity (Kimmel

How Does Your Personality Shape Your Workplace Effectiveness
How does your personality shape your workplace effectiveness?
Introduction
Personality is an important trait which has an impact on the surrounding in your workplace. As a
manager, I believe that a workplace has several types of people who come from various religion, race,
country and cultural beliefs. Each individual need to be treated with respect and care, there issues need
to be addressed without neglecting and they should be given room for their own personal growth
within the organization. Personality is related to the culture being practiced in the organization. They
are directly proportional to each other. Culture needs to be initiated by the management and
employees follow it.
Effective management skills require managers to develop policies having the employees in mind,
along with this regular interval for employees and also trips can be organized for team building
purposes. Managers are known to have a good vision, interpersonal skill, technical skill and also
perception. As manager s, they need to understand their strengths and weaknesses by conducting
personality tests and follow certain practices to make their personality better in order to better deal
with employees. It needs a lot of dedication and commitment to be a good manager with pleasant
practices on a day to day basis. We as managers, need to remember that we are role models for the
employees in an organization and they look up to us to be a better person.

The Immorality Of Nepalese Business Being Publicized One...
Introduction
When it comes to moral behavior, Nepalese society held high demands. It is something our collective
society is made up of. But in the developing country like ours where business is yet to be
professionalized, the morality that has bounded our society for years is very weak within business and
its impacts can be seen in our society and nation.
Few years ago news explaining immorality transfused in Nepalese business being publicized one after

Case Study: Gudpak Turned Sour
Kathmandu: September 6, 2014
Forum for Customer Right Protection on Tuesday, September 4 2014 filed case against four
businessmen dealing in Sweets at the Metropolitan Police Range, Hanuman Dhoka. The cases were
filed against famous sweet shop owners of Corner Taaja Gudpak Bhandar , Shri Krishna Gudpak
Bhandar , Anmol Sweets , and Kanhaiya Ghee Brand . These outlets were using animal fat in the name
of pure ghee and rotten, expired sweets and raw materials for preparing Gudpak and Pustakari (type of
Nepali sweet). The production site was found very unhygienic and unsanitary. On the other hand,
Kanhaiya Ghee Brand was found producing and selling inedible ghee (type of butter) with zero RM
value.
A kg of gudpak and pustakari, bought after struggling with the commotion and the crowd at the shop,
would bring smiles back home in our families, the kids and old. Gudpak was not just a sweet made

The Curious Incident of the dog in the Night Time
Traits: Determination, Analytical, Immature to Mature
In the novel, The Curious Incident of the dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon, the protagonist,
Christopher, is trying to solve some of the mysteries that surround his life in Swindon, and get to his
mother s place and back through a mature understanding of social integration. In Swindon, some
positive influences of mother in his past lead to some maturity and parts of his analytical trait, but
primarily, determination and immaturity direct Christopher s autism when solving the mystery of who

analytical trait is starting to be seen, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When he goes into the store, it is very crowded. Immaturity directs his autism when he crouches on
the floor with his hands over his ears. Immaturity is directing his autism, and drawing away from
social integration because Christopher does not understand that because he is crouching down in the
middle of the store, he is blocking everyone else who is trying to shop. Furthermore, when
Christopher s mother tries to move him, Christopher starts to scream in the store, drawing bad
attention to himself, and drawing further away from his understanding of social integration. This
shows many immature decisions directing his autism because he is not yet able to control his autistic
traits, contrasting to in the end, when he is able to recognize his autistic traits, and control them with
his mature understanding of social integration. In addition, Christopher shows immaturity in his past
when he is able to recognize and reflect maturely on his immature acts that were directing his autism.
When Christopher recognizes his behavioural problems that he used to have, he is able to reflect on
the reasoning of his problems, and know that he has matured from his past. Determination directs his
autism when he gets cross with people if the furniture is moved. This is because he is determined
through his mother s positive influences to keep everything in a strict order, and

According to the report of China Financial and Economic News (2015), Miss Lu is a 22 years girl

Magna Carta Vs Declaration Of Independence
Magna Carta means The Great Charter it was a peace treaty ending revolution against an English king.
A copy of the Magna Carta s first appearance was part of the Lord Mayor s Show which parade.
Magna Carta states how the government should treat its people. Also The Declaration of Independence
states how the government should treat its people. Finally they will compare and contrast to see if they
are similar in how they treat each other s people.
Magna Carta says that the government should treat its people to have different rights. One right that
they would have is the right of a wealthy widow that would have centuries long relevance. It would
guaranteed them church freedom. This means that the rich widows will have every right and freedom
to be in that church. Another thing he says how the government should treat its people is by making
sure of their safety. Taking care of your safety means you have to follow the rules. Even the king has
to follow these rules for his safety. This is stating that it does not matter how old you are or how young
you are everyone has rules that will keep them safe. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Declaration of Independence says the government should treat its people with equal rights. It states
that all men will be created equal which means they will all have the right to vote. It does not matter
your religion or anything because all men will be equal. The final thing the Declaration of
Independence says that the government should treat its people with truth and self evident. That is
when finally women and men were told that everyone would be equal it does not matter if you a men

Compare And Contrast The Landlady And Lamb To The Slaughter
In stories, The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe, The Landlady and Lamb to the Slaughter both by
Roald Dahl, ideas of guilt and sanity prevail. In these short stories, the lack of guilt and insanity create
a mental state which not only allows them to commit their crimes but also to do so without remorse.
Poe uses close description and large amounts of figurative language to bring through the ideas of trust,
insanity, lack of guilt and perfect crimes . In contrast, Roald Dahl uses other figurative language
techniques such as juxtaposition and foreshadowing.

When it comes to corrections, it is clear what their mission is and that is to incarcerate criminals,
however it also ensures that those incarcerated receive treatment to prepare them for reintegration and
reentry into society. Ever since the creation of prisons, some wonder how we managed to survive
without them in the past. Unfortunately, we do have neither the resources nor the capital to incarcerate
all who chose to engage in criminal behavior. Utilizing other programs like probation are needed in
order to accommodate those who wish to offend. According to McShane and Emeka (2011) there is

population by 30,000 inmates.
The public is concerned because; some of those offenders will end up living among us in our
neighborhoods. It appears like the Supreme Court officials have forgotten that the offenders that they
are releasing are criminals. Why are these officials willing to place a large amount of these offenders
that were convicted by the courts back into society and jeopardize our public safety? I am concerned
that due to the high case load our probation and parole officers face that many of these offenders will
go unsupervised. Fortunately, our corrections system still continues to hire new officer to help with
probation and parole which are the two major programs that track and ensure most of these offenders
are being supervised and they also help with prison overcrowding. Probation has been part of our
society for many years. Probation was first used as a rehabilitative and supervisory tool to keep those
low level offenders out of jail. Today it is used as a strict supervisory tool that monitors offenders at

It is required to give less impact and weight to Mixon factors relating to form and more to substance,
based on the fact that the transactions were not made at arm s length.
Non exclusive Mixon factors that contributed to the decision:
1. Name given to certificates: Labels on documents conclude that the advances say they are debt, but
labels alone cannot change equity to debt. This factor favors the advances treated as debt, but there is
less weight to this factor because it is based on form rather than substance.
2. Presence or absence of a fixed maturity date: Although fixed maturity dates existed, postponing
maturity suggests a lack of intent to require repayment. This factor supports the treatment of the
advances as equity because the directors did not intend to request repayment and continually extended
the maturity dates, never enforcing them.
3. Source of payments: The petitioners claim liquidity and the ability to pay interest or principal on
amount owed, but conclusive findings show the insufficiency to pay interest or principal balance. This
factor supports the treatment of the advances as equity.
4. Right to enforce payment of principal and interest: While they had the right to enforce, they did not

Applying A New Localization Approach Based On...
A fine grained Indoor Localization using Multidimensional WiFi Fingerprinting
Abstract Although fingerprint based localization is promising for indoor applications, its accuracy
remains a huge challenge. Most existing approaches depends on the Radio Signal Strength (RSS) to
generate fingerprints. Merely using RSS is unable to accurately localize since such an one dimensional
fingerprint is serious influenced by the interference and multipath effect in the indoor environment. In
this paper, we propose a new localization approach based on multidimensional WiFi fingerprint.
Instead of using RSS only, we employ RSS, transmitted power, and channel information to construct
fingerprints. The extension of fingerprints enables fine grained localization and tracking services. We
also deign a cosine similarity based matching algorithm and enhanced particle filter mechanism to
realize the localization and tracking. Extensive experiment and implementation results show that using
the new fingerprint can achieve an accuracy within 2m in 90% testing points, with good adaptability
to complex indoor environments.

Terra Elan Mcvoy Tragic Love Quotes
Oftentimes people make poor decisions to satisy the one they love. These people often get themselves
into unforeseen situations. In Terra Elan McVoy s tragic love story, Nikki Dougherty was so blindly in
love with her boyfriend, Dee Pavon. Nikki was voluntarily involved with a homicide that Dee
committed. He tried to blame it all on her, but they both went to prison in the end. A central theme in
McVoy s novel is that a person who is in love must know their boundaries. To begin, Nikki s life
became far from perfect once she started dating Dee. McVoy states, You are a criminal, Nikki. You
lied to the police to protect your boyfriend (242). This quote was said by Nikki s friend, Hampton,
when Nikki called her to tell her the whole story of the incident. Nikki gave false information to the
police about where they were on the night that the deputy was killed. She did this to protect Dee. She
was so blinded with Dee s love that she did not notice what he was doing to her. This ties to the theme
of the book because Nikki finally realized that Dee had turned her into a criminal. It ruined her life.
People did not looked at her the same anymore; she had no one left to support her. Nikki was trying to
save her boyfriend, but that caused her more trouble. Therefore, she gave up on Dee and told herself

Analysis Of Storm Warnings By Adrienne Rich
No storm is experienced the same. Seeing a storm on the horizon has the power to stir up gripping
memories, introspective thoughts, and convoluted emotions. The poem Storm Warnings , by Adrienne
Rich, applies a predictable structure paired with flowing syntax, and ambiguous diction speaking both
of weather and emotions to illustrate that one cannot avoid the tribulations of life, embodied as the
approaching storm, but instead prepare for their arrival. Storm Warnings, true to its literal subject
matter, possesses flowy sweeping syntax created by the strategic use of commas and phrasing to draw
parallels between the physical oncoming winds and the gales of life. The author crafts a long run on
sentence that spans the first stanza and carries on into the latter portion of the second to mirror the
continuous flowing of windy weather and the forward motion of life. Once the speaker notices the
brewing storm, they walk from window to closed window, watching boughs strain against the sky. In
this portion of the affromented run on sentence, alliteration, rhythm, and the repetition of words all
contribute to the impression of movement. The various w sounds at the beginnings of words and the
repetition of the word window create a sensation of continuously flowing forward, especially when
read aloud; the comma adds a small swirling pause to the rhythm, which is then soon after resumed
with the word watching. Just as the poem rhythmically moves forward with its long phrases connected
with frequent commas, so must life carry on with each additional experience, whether it be
misfortunes or joys. The elongated syntax allows all these elements to work together within sentences
to highlight the similarities between physical storms and emotional struggle and to stress the
inevitability of predicaments in life.
Despite the flowing syntax, the poem has a clear and predictable structure to replicate the persona s
calm familiarity with experiencing and answering to storms in their life. It is interesting to note that
even though parlous weather is on its way, there is a lack of panic, chaos, and anomalies in the
structure of the poem. There continues to be seven lines in each stanza throughout the piece;

Compare And Contrast Senate And House Of Representatives
The House of Representatives and the Senate share a few traits such as they both have a majority and
minority leaders as well as they both have the ability to amend bills, nevertheless, the House and

have 100 members and have lived in the United States for at least nine years and face election every

Diagnosis Of Benign Scrotal Surgical Specimens
Abstract
Purpose: We recently demonstrated that pathologic analysis of benign scrotal surgical specimens may
be unnecessarily increasing costs of patient care. Adult circumcision specimens may also routinely be
sent for pathological analysis even when penile cancer is not suspected, increasing costs with little
benefit. To assess the utility of foreskin pathology analysis, we evaluated the outcomes and the costs
of this practice in patients where penile cancer was not suspected.
Materials and Methods: All adult patients who underwent circumcision between January 2000 and
August 2013 at a single institution were evaluated by retrospective chart review. Cases of suspected
penile cancer (n=6) were excluded. We identified cases where foreskin specimens were sent for
pathological analysis and reviewed pathology reports. Our Department of Pathology estimated the cost
for evaluation of specimens at $311 per case.
Results: A total of 147 circumcisions were performed in patients with no suspicious findings.
Pathologic analysis was obtained in 69% (101/147) of the cases. Inflammation (58%) was the most
common finding. One unsuspected instance of squamous cell carcinoma (Tis) was identified in a
patient with HIV (1/147=0.7%). The overall cost of pathology analysis in this study was $31,411.
Conclusions: In individuals without predisposing immunodeficiency and where cancer was not
suspected, we found that pathology analysis of circumcision specimens identified no additional

the main lenses and damage the eyes of the wearer. People behind Project Loon should ensure that the
parts inside the lenses will not have negative impacts on the eyes of the wearer.
Home Automation and Smart Thermostats Google has been working with Nest since 2014 developing
smart thermostats and other home automation systems that aim to create a smarter home for more
comfortable living. The Nest thermostat learns the preferred temperature of the home owners and
builds a schedule around this information (Nest.com, 2017). It can program itself and helps the
homeowner in saving a lot on energy use. For example, if the homeowner is out of the house, the
thermostat programs itself to Eco Temperature; thereby, saving on energy (Nest.com, 2017).
Furthermore, the Nest thermostat adapts with the changing of the season. The adjustments of
temperature of the Nest thermostat can be done remotely. Using one s phone, the thermostat inside the
house can be adjusted even if the homeowner is miles away

American Indian Stories Sparknotes
In her book American Indian Stories, Zitkala Sa s central role as both an activist and writer surfaces,
which uniquely combines autobiography and fiction and represents an attempt to merge cultural
critique with aesthetic form, especially surrounding such fundamental matters as religion. In the
tradition of sentimental, autobiographical fiction, this work addresses keen issues for American
Indians dilemmas with assimilation. In Parts IV and V of quot;School Days, quot; for example, she
vividly describes a little girl s nightmares of paleface devils and delineates her bitterness when her
classmate died with an open Bible on her bed. In this groundbreaking scene, she inverts the allegation
of Indian religion as superstition by labeling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While she and her husband denounced the Peyote religion due to their first hand observation of peyote
s destructive often deadly effects, they asserted the superiority of Indian spirituality over the disregard
for nature, disrespect of other cultures, and depredation of people which accompanied alleged
Christian practices such as stripping children from their language, culture, religion, family, and
environment, the blatant injustice and trauma of which the reader poignantly feels in her fiction during
the hair cutting scene and in the mother s desperate cry to her departed warrior brothers.
This collection of stories and the autobiographical account of her school days at White s Manual
Institute in Wabash, Indiana, and later at Earlham College provide insight into the struggle of Indian
peoples in the early twentieth century to protect their heritage while developing a modern Indian
identity.
Zitkala Sa makes the reader feel how shocking and horrifying our comfortable culture was to children
who grew up in a different culture, beginning with the cutting of her hair. There are the quot;loud,

The Importance Of Memory And Short Term Memory
Memory to be process by which we encode, store and retrieve information. Each of the three parts of
this definition, encoding, storage, and retrieval represents a different process. You can think od these
processes as being analogous to a computer s emotion (encoding), hard drive (storage), and software
that accesses the information for display on the screen.
A momentary flash of lightning the sound of the twig snapping and the sting of a pinprick all represent
stimulation of exceedingly brief duration but the may nonetheless provide important information that
can require a response. Such stimuli are initially and fleetingly stored I sensory memory the first
repository of the information the world present to us. Sensory memory can store information for only
a very short time if information does not pass into short term memory it is lost for good.
The information that is stored briefly in sensory memory consists of representations of raw sensory

must be transferred to the stage of memory. Short term memory is the memory store in which
information first has meaning although the maximum length of retention there is relatively short...

Essay On The Underground Railroad In North Carolina
The Underground Railroad in North Carolina
The Underground Railroad was perhaps the most active and dramatic protest action against slavery in
United States history and as we look at the Underground Railroad in North Carolina we will focus on
the Quakers, Levi Coffin s early years, and the accounts of escaped slaves from North Carolina. The
unique blend of southern slave holder and northern abolitionist influences in the formation of North
Carolina served to make the state an important link in the efforts to end slavery inside and outside of
North Carolina borders.
Although not underground nor a railroad, this informal system became a loosely constructed network
of escape routes that originated in the South, intertwined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Levi Coffin was born on October 28, 1798 on a farm in New Garden, North Carolina, the only son of
seven children born to Quaker parents, Levi and Prudence (Williams) Coffin.
Because his father needed him to work on the farm, young Levi received the bulk of his education at
home. His home schooling proved to be a good education. As a young boy growing up in North
Carolina in the early 1800 s, Levi saw firsthand the reality of slavery. One day while he was out with
his father helping to chop wood by the roadside, a group of slaves, handcuffed and chained together,
passed by on their way to be sold in Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana. When Levi s father asked them
why they were chained, one of the men sadly replied: They have taken us away from our wives and
children, and they chain us lest we should make our escape and go back to them. 1 After the group of
slaves had gone, young Levi wondered to himself how he would feel if his father were taken away
from him.
The incident by the side of a Guilford County road marked the first stirring of Levi Coffin s sympathy
for the oppressed. Together with a strong hatred of oppression and injustice in any form, Coffin later
said these were the motives that influenced my

Integrative Approach To Counseling
An integrative approach to the role of a counselor with theological implications first includes
determining how an individual will relay to the world one s style of counseling (identity).
Furthermore, there is a recognition of the four main biblical matters known as creation, the Fall,
redemption, and restoration, and their applicability in one s therapeutic practice. The foundation of a
Christian worldview and the implementation of Scriptural principles are the chief tools of a counselor
working to achieve a sense of wholeness and reconciliation among clients in relation to God, the

In order to contain communism they used the process of the domino theory. The domino theory held
that a communist victory in one nation would quickly lead to a chain reaction of communist takeovers

Geoffrey Chaucer s Bath And The Miller s Tale Essay
Geoffrey Chaucer, the author of The Canterbury Tales, writes these stories to express a variety of
themes and lessons. One of these themes is the fidelity or loyalty in marriages during the late thirteen
hundreds. Chaucer uses a collection of pilgrims and their tales to portray the main types of marriage
during this time. These views are narrowed down to three main types and they are the feminine view,
the courtly view, and the common or fabliaux view. These main types are seen in The Wife of Bath s
Prologue and Tale, The Franklin s Tale, and The Miller s Tale. During this time period, a few women
had a very feminist view on the idea of marriage. This is the idea that women should have freedom in
the marriage and be able to do the same things in the community as her husband. This also means that
in the context of the marriage, the wife should be the most powerful and have control over her
husband. This was especially expressed from the Wife of Bath as she speaks of her views in her
prologue and her tale. In the Wife of Bath s prologue, she tells that she has had four husbands before
the one she has now and that she is not ashamed of her lack of virginity even as some of the
community members look down on her. She doesn t think it s fair that if a woman has more than one
husband in her lifetime, she is frowned upon, but it is acceptable for men to remarry several times
(Marcotte). The Wife of Bath wants to have equality as a female in the social aspects of her marriage.

Commander Johnson s Coming Parachute Jump-Personal Narrative
As I clutched onto my M1917 Enfield inside the sweaty and stuffy cabin of the Douglas DC3, ready
for the coming parachute jump that could possibly be the last thing I would do. I was 19 when I was
selected for war in 1942 to fight my country Great Britain. As minutes came to seconds it started to
bug me about what was really going to happen to me down in treacherous battlefield below me. Out of
the cabin window I could see the pot marked and war ruined land below. Commander Johnson, a tall
and burly figure was the commander in charge of our squadron. He shouted from the door that we had
thirty seconds until we jumped. I checked my harness and made sure my gear was securely attached. I

sweating and felt sweat drip from my brow as I readied myself for the jump. He tapped me again
telling me to hurry up. I leapt out and felt myself accelerate through the cold air before felling the
sudden jolt as the parachute opened and slowed my decent. I felt weightless like a dandelion seed
floating and being caught by the wind. I looked down and studied the violent battlefield that was
approaching me slowly. I could see through the clear blue sky for miles but it was the same scene in
every direction. Smoke, destruction and the eyesore of decimation all around. There were planes in the
air and tanks on the ground and small figures that were men on the ground running. It looked just like
a sand table in action. I could hear gunshots, ear piercing explosions from this height and mortars
being fired. I could smell the strong smell of smoke from fires caused by explosives. As the ground
got closer and the first of the paratroopers started to touch the ground I started to prepare myself for
the coming landing. Seconds later the ground touched my feet before I swiftly undid my parachute and
began to run toward the trench were I would meet with the rest of my squadron. I looked around for
James my friend whom I had I last seen before he jumped out of the plane ahead, but I couldn t see
him. I tripped up whilst running and fell. I looked back to see what had tripped me

Types of Car Brake System Essay
HISTORY AND BACKGROUND
In a little over hundred years since automobile took hold of most people s imagination, technologies
design to make acceleration faster and reaching higher speeds have evolved. Despite charges, turbo
charges, twin turbo charges or NOX, there are limits, which cannot be greater by land based vehicle in
terms of speed. Not the same can be said about the rather unseen parts of the automotive evolution.
The only limitation to them is in connection with the human body s ability to withstand rapid
decelerations. It would be a lot easier to stop a car then to make it go faster otherwise. Whether they
come in form of drum brakes or as disk, the brakes have been the horsepower s companions
throughout decades, each pulling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The drum break had a main problem and that is that the heat within is not efficiently disbursed. Since
the drum prevents wind from drawing it away. The heat produced inside the drum does not easily
escape. The disk brake however was open to the wind, allowing the heat to be easily carried away,
increasing the efficiency of the break.
The development and use of the disk brakes was fist in England in the 1980 s. Frederick William
Lanchaster was the first guy that patented the first ever caliper type disk brake in his Birmingham
factory in 1902 and it was used successfully on his Lanchaster cars. He struggled to keep up the
maintenance of a quality brake because of the limited choice of metals in the period of time. Causing
him to use copper as the braking medium acting on the disk. However, due to the bad road conditions,
it didn t allow copper to last very long because copper can wear out easily, making the disk brake
system non viable.
Crosley Hot Shot in the 1950 is often given the credit for first use of the U.S production of disk brake.
The Chrystal Crown Imperial had them first used actually, as a standard equipment at the beginning of
the model year in 1942. Crosley disk was a good year development that was originally designed for
use on aircrafts; it was the caliper type with ventilated rotor. Regions that required the use of salt like
winter roads caused sticking and corrosion, leading to enormous reliability problems due to the lack of
research.

Stephanie Bennett Regional Theatre Analysis
What is the Role and Function of Theatre in a Regional City?
To me, regional theatre means home, something that is part of me and brings culture to where I live. I
have lived in 3 different cities in England, each of them being completely different. Personally, I
believe that theatre emphasises culture and difference in a regional city. Stephanie Bennett explains
The beauty of regional theatre is that the local performances are often raw and visceral in their
authenticity (2016), this stood out to me because I believe it states what regional theatre is about.
What does it mean to be a regional city?
Lyn Gardner Explains in her article In theatre is regional a dirty word? (2012) that regional cities go

Lyn Gardner talks on an experience in York when a cast of 180 people from the community marched
around York in honour of the soldiers in World War One. She goes on to explain Angels stopped the
traffic; people got up from their seats on buses so they could see what was going on; children played
around the edges as if it were the most natural thing in the world. People hurrying by suddenly
slowed, stopped and smiled. (2013) this is the real and true definition of regional theatre and the
power it has to make a whole community watch and feel the performance.
The word theatre has so much meaning behind it and its obvious to see that by just simply going to
two different theatres and comparing the two, each theatre has a different role and function. This
shows that there is so many different roles and functions with one regional city. There would be no
point in regional theatre if it just had one purpose throughout. That s what makes regional theatre so
unique and different to the rest.
Is there theatre that can only be performed in its regional

Relational Data Models Versus No Sql Data Model
Relational Data Model Versus No SQL Data Model

CSIT 555 Database Systems
Midterm Research Paper
[1] INTRODUCTION:
The term database can be defined as the collection of systematic, well ordered and structured data that
can be easily and efficiently handled, retrieved and upgraded on a periodic basis depending on its
requirements. The structure and organization of any database is based upon its respective database
model.
A unique database model is implemented by each database depending upon the logical structure of the
data that is being handled by that database. There are numerous distinct database models out in the
market at present that allow the application developers to effectively manage the data. The most
widely welcomed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fundamental theory of logical relations among the grouped data is incorporated in the relational
database model. This method offers numerous advantages such as keeping the structured data in an
organized and logically related manner, ease of data handling in case of related data or information,
simplicity of data management and many more. In general, it can be stated that those database systems
that assimilate the technique of relational SQL data model can execute in a productive and precise
method.
[3] THE NO SQL DATABASE SYSTEM AND KEY VALUE STORE DATA MODEL:
The term No SQL is considered in a much wider vision which means Not Only SQL . This can be
elaborated in the sense that the concept of No SQL does not consider the complete elimination of SQL
language, rather it focuses on supporting other SQL like queries. The No SQL Database basically
follows a model free approach. The leading advantage of implementing the No SQL database is
eliminating all the restrictions of the rigorously followed structured model in the relational database
system. In No SQL approach, there are many flexibilities of choosing eligible data structure according
to the information or data that has to be handled. Some of the widely followed data models of the No
SQL database are key value stores, column family stores, document database, graph database, etc. The
fundamental concept behind the development of the key value store data model is to create a data
model that

There is little doubt that animals raised on small scale diverse farms are apt to be healthier. When
allowed to range freely, particularly in organically maintained yards and pastures, they receive more

less freedom than the past due to the world has more potential dangerous such as the increased rate of
abduction. Dealing a complicated problem with a very simple violent way may result in a worse
impact in the near future. Because of parents excessively protect their own children and outside world

they indulge in the virtual world created by electronic products. In the story The Shortening Leash ,

Consequences Of Marriage And Wedding Scenes In The Deer...
One of several 1978 films dealing with the Vietnam War is The Deer Hunters an old movie which the
audience can notice at the beginning. The two principal events are the wedding and the deer hunt, this
movie opens with an Italian celebration wedding, which is very unusual for today s wedding. They
have distinct cultures and it is very emotive. The wedding reception celebrates both marriage and
enlistment. The reception takes place in a Veteran s Hall, enlistment overwhelms the wedding in
ultimate significance, and the principal females (e.g., Linda) are clearly at the mercy of males. When
the deer hunt replaces the wedding, the domination of female by the male, love by war, is complete. In
the wedding scene, the director plays a long scene, even overlong, which in today s cinema would be
edited significantly to get to the action. But this long sequence sets the scene by introducing the
characters and showing us in their natural habitat. Without this, we would not know them or care for
them as much. The second even is the hunter, As the hunt takes over, human relations become more
and more dissociative. Not only do the hunters leave women behind, they split from the community of

Genetic Privacy And The Human Genome Project
With bounding advances in the field of genomics, genetic privacy has sparked a controversy. In the
1980s, the Human Genome Project was established to sequence the entirety of the human genome.
The first draft of this project was published in Nature in February, 2001, about 10 percent short of
completion (National Institutes of Health [NIH], 2015). Originally, scientists had hypothesized that
there was anywhere from 50,000 to 140,000 genes. However, after the release of the first draft and the
later completion of the full sequence in April of 2003, it was revealed that there were actually about
20,500 genes (NIH, 2015). Since April 2003, the structure, organization, and function of these many
genes has begun to be better understood (NIH, 2015). As genetics moved forward, there was hope of
application in the fields of criminal justice and medicine. According to the International Homicide
Investigators Association, 40,000 unidentified deaths occur in the United States annually (Willing
2006). That means every year, 40,000 people have families who remain unsure whether their missing
loved ones are still alive. If the justice system had access to a national genetic database, this issue
could be resolved; if all citizens could provide the justice system with samples of their DNA, criminal
cases and missing persons cases could be solved at a more efficient rate. Furthermore, if doctors had

Cost Synergies: How Merger Models Incorporate Managerial Accounting Methodologies Introduction
According to the Merriam Webster online dictionary, a synergy is defined as a mutually advantageous
conjunction or compatibility of distinct business participants or elements (as resources or efforts) .
When applied exclusively in a business context, synergies are realized improvements in efficiency, as
well as reductions in cost, resulting from the cooperation of two or more entities. These improvements
are derived from the elimination, and consolidation, of redundant activities and tasks between the
operations of disparate business units. In the following paragraphs, I will describe how and when

Supply chain management, human capital management, and a myriad of other functional areas have
become focus areas for synergistic analysis. These types of synergies are commonly referred to as
operating synergies. Conversely, financial synergies, such as debt capacity and tax benefits serve to
increase cash flow or reduce the firms cost of capital. Favorable operating and financial synergies
provide the justification to enact the reorganization of the business through merger activity. Despite
the importance of operating synergies to the organization s overall synergy strategy, this paper will
focus almost exclusively on the financial outcomes of such analyses. How are synergies achieved? In
a nutshell, all synergies can be expressed using the following rudimentary equation: 1 + 1 = 3 The idea
that the sum of the parts is greater than that of the individual components is the driving assumption
behind the synergistic approach to business reorganization. In today s corporate climate, synergies are
at the forefront of acquisitive growth strategies which attempt to supplement internally generated
(organic) growth with targeted acquisitions of existing entities or through business combinations. The
goal of these transactions is to achieve a return on investment that exceeds the returns generated by
each party prior to the deal. These returns can be measured in terms of cost reductions, increased
revenues, and in some instances a

Canning provides a shelf life typically ranging from one to five years, although under specific
circumstances it can be much longer. loss of nutrients, including fat soluble vitamins, occur during the
heating step of the canning process and throughout their long shelf lives. Canned fruits and vegetables
have about 35 percent of the vitamins and minerals their fresh counterparts contain. The canning
process can be an all day affair, so you should take into consideration the significant time investment
for preparing, processing and waiting. Freezing Freezing, is a food processing method that preserves
food by lowering the temperature to inhibit microorganism growth. The method has been used for
centuries in cold regions It prevents the growth of microorganisms that cause both food spoilage and
foodborne illness. Freezing to 0 °F inactivates any microbes bacteria, yeasts and molds present in

in less developed countries? How can the United States policy makers decide that people such as an
11 year old Chilean girl...raped and impregnated by her mother s boyfriend (Albaladejo, A Witch Hunt
Against Poor Women,32) can be denied access to a safe abortion and expected to be a mother. This
reminded me of Hester Einstein s discussion on SAPs and how the policy s intent does not always
equal the outcome. Because most of their food production is consumed within the family or traded in
local markets, women usually do not have the resources to switch to the export crops

Federal District Court Alleging First Amendment Violations...
I was recently asked to provide some prospective on a lawsuit that was filed in federal district court
alleging first amendment violations against the former Sheriff of El Paso County, Terry Maketa,
former Undersheriff, Paula Presley, as well as, the El Paso County Board of County Commissioners. It
brings up a lot of interesting legal issues regarding federal civil rights complaints that I think are
important to discuss. The Law the Action is Brought Under The lawsuit is brought under 42 U.S.C. §
1983. Section 1983, or civil actions for deprivation of rights, is an amended version of the Civil Rights
Act of 1871. The statute provides that: Every person who, under color of any statute, ordinance,
regulation, custom, or usage, of any State or Territory or the District of Columbia, subjects, or causes
to be subjected, any citizen of the United States or other person within the jurisdiction thereof to the
deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured by the Constitution and laws, shall be
liable to the party injured in an action at law... Thus, the two main requirements for a § 1983 claim are
(1) state actors and (2) acting under the color of law. Color of law has been defined by the United
States Supreme Court as the [m]isuse of power, possessed by virtue of state law and made possible
only because the wrongdoer is clothed with the authority of state law. U.S. v. Classic, 313 U.S. 299,
326 (1941). So, if Maketa and Preseley are the state actors, why

Draft And Outline Of David Suzuki s The Pain Of Animals
The Pain of Animals Draft and Outline
The Pain of Animals is an article written by David Suzuki and published in 1989. The writer discusses
that humans are using other species for their benefits and causing them pain by scientific experiments
as well as by pleasure purposes. This results in the extinction of many species and disrupts the
ecosystem. Moreover, David Suzuki s main point throughout this article is to explain and convince
readers that animals have body systems similar to humans and they also feel fear and pain. In addition,
he discusses that it is unethical to cause pain in animals for humans own benefits.
Suzuki s main thesis of this article is a discussion about the similarities between human rights and
animal rights. He also focuses on animals used for research due to their similarities such as their
bodies, responses, and nervous system with humans. In addition, humans use them for pleasure which
cause them fear and pain that is unethical. Suzuki has persuaded readers by connecting his childhood
experience of hunting and fishing as well as moments he realized that it is painful for the animals.
Specifically, the description about the holes in the fish s mouth and the pain and fear from it in the fish
is very touching to the readers.
Moreover, Suzuki made an effective discussion by talking about animal s life after being tested if they
survive. He made readers to think and feel about the pain of animals by his emotional questions, What
gives us the right to exploit other living organisms as we see fit? How do we know that these other
creatures don t feel pain or anguish just as we do? Perhaps there s no problem with fruit flies, but
where do we draw the line? (Suzuki, 1989, p.681). Suzuki s main purpose is to convince the audience
that animals feel pain and it is unethical to make animals suffer from pain for our benefits. Suzuki
suggests that it is not wise to use animals for research as well as for our pleasure to the extent that
results in extinction.
Suzuki mentioned in his article about medical research and experiments of Jane Goodall using
chimpanzees greatly affect the population of chimpanzees. Furthermore, human moves animals from
their homes and lands to zoos for education and

The Purchase Of The Louisiana Purchase
Some historical and ancient occurrences are reasonably comprehensible and straightforward as to why
the event happened and the outcome of it. Other than America becoming a newly independent country,
the purchasing of the Louisiana Territory was a significant accomplishment as a young, brand new
country. The purchase nearly doubled and expanded the United States size by about 828,000 square
miles ( Louisiana Purchase ). However, this was not a laid back, straightforward business transaction
as one individual may think.
Surprisingly, the Louisiana Territory was an enormous interest in the Old World for an extended
period before 1803. Many explorations and widely dispersed settlements have arisen in the 17th and
18th centuries; causing France to be the first to gain control of the United States from New Orleans to
the Great Lakes and to now modern day Montana (History.com Louisiana Purchase ). In 1762 while
the French and Indian War was occurring, France surrendered Louisiana west of the Mississippi River
to Spain and in 1763 transferred all the North American land to Great Britain. In 1796, Spain allied
itself with France, which lead Britain to use its navy to cut off Spain from America.
In the early 1800s, Spain signed a secretive treaty with France to give the Louisiana Territory back to
them. The United States heard about this private agreement and were very uneasy of the French leader
Napoleon Bonaparte. Americans during the time were traveling west, and the colonists

A fine grained Indoor Localization using Multidimensional WiFi Fingerprinting Abstract Although fingerprint based localization is promising for indoor applications, its accuracy remains a huge challenge. Most existing approaches depends on the Radio Signal Strength (RSS) to generate fingerprints. Merely using RSS is unable to accurately localize since such an one dimensional fingerprint is serious influenced by the interference and multipath effect in the indoor environment. In this paper, we propose a new localization approach based on multidimensional WiFi fingerprint. Instead of using RSS only, we employ RSS, transmitted power, and channel information to construct fingerprints. The extension of fingerprints enables fine grained localization and tracking services. We also deign a cosine similarity based matching algorithm and enhanced particle filter mechanism to realize the localization and tracking. Extensive experiment and implementation results show that using the new fingerprint can achieve an accuracy within 2m in 90% testing points, with good adaptability to complex indoor environments. • 15. Analysis Of Storm Warnings By Adrienne Rich No storm is experienced the same. Seeing a storm on the horizon has the power to stir up gripping memories, introspective thoughts, and convoluted emotions. The poem Storm Warnings , by Adrienne Rich, applies a predictable structure paired with flowing syntax, and ambiguous diction speaking both of weather and emotions to illustrate that one cannot avoid the tribulations of life, embodied as the approaching storm, but instead prepare for their arrival. Storm Warnings, true to its literal subject matter, possesses flowy sweeping syntax created by the strategic use of commas and phrasing to draw parallels between the physical oncoming winds and the gales of life. The author crafts a long run on sentence that spans the first stanza and carries on into the latter portion of the second to mirror the continuous flowing of windy weather and the forward motion of life. Once the speaker notices the brewing storm, they walk from window to closed window, watching boughs strain against the sky. In this portion of the affromented run on sentence, alliteration, rhythm, and the repetition of words all contribute to the impression of movement. The various w sounds at the beginnings of words and the repetition of the word window create a sensation of continuously flowing forward, especially when read aloud; the comma adds a small swirling pause to the rhythm, which is then soon after resumed with the word watching. Just as the poem rhythmically moves forward with its long phrases connected with frequent commas, so must life carry on with each additional experience, whether it be misfortunes or joys. The elongated syntax allows all these elements to work together within sentences to highlight the similarities between physical storms and emotional struggle and to stress the inevitability of predicaments in life. Despite the flowing syntax, the poem has a clear and predictable structure to replicate the persona s calm familiarity with experiencing and answering to storms in their life. It is interesting to note that even though parlous weather is on its way, there is a lack of panic, chaos, and anomalies in the structure of the poem. There continues to be seven lines in each stanza throughout the piece; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Diagnosis Of Benign Scrotal Surgical Specimens Abstract Purpose: We recently demonstrated that pathologic analysis of benign scrotal surgical specimens may be unnecessarily increasing costs of patient care. Adult circumcision specimens may also routinely be sent for pathological analysis even when penile cancer is not suspected, increasing costs with little benefit. To assess the utility of foreskin pathology analysis, we evaluated the outcomes and the costs of this practice in patients where penile cancer was not suspected. Materials and Methods: All adult patients who underwent circumcision between January 2000 and August 2013 at a single institution were evaluated by retrospective chart review. Cases of suspected penile cancer (n=6) were excluded. We identified cases where foreskin specimens were sent for pathological analysis and reviewed pathology reports. Our Department of Pathology estimated the cost for evaluation of specimens at $311 per case. Results: A total of 147 circumcisions were performed in patients with no suspicious findings. Pathologic analysis was obtained in 69% (101/147) of the cases. Inflammation (58%) was the most common finding. One unsuspected instance of squamous cell carcinoma (Tis) was identified in a patient with HIV (1/147=0.7%). The overall cost of pathology analysis in this study was $31,411. In Parts IV and V of quot;School Days, quot; for example, she vividly describes a little girl s nightmares of paleface devils and delineates her bitterness when her classmate died with an open Bible on her bed. Each of the three parts of this definition, encoding, storage, and retrieval represents a different process. You can think od these processes as being analogous to a computer s emotion (encoding), hard drive (storage), and software that accesses the information for display on the screen. A momentary flash of lightning the sound of the twig snapping and the sting of a pinprick all represent stimulation of exceedingly brief duration but the may nonetheless provide important information that can require a response. Such stimuli are initially and fleetingly stored I sensory memory the first repository of the information the world present to us. Sensory memory can store information for only a very short time if information does not pass into short term memory it is lost for good. The information that is stored briefly in sensory memory consists of representations of raw sensory stimuli it is not meaningful to us. If we are too make sense of it and possibly retain it the information must be transferred to the stage of memory. The unique blend of southern slave holder and northern abolitionist influences in the formation of North Carolina served to make the state an important link in the efforts to end slavery inside and outside of North Carolina borders. Because his father needed him to work on the farm, young Levi received the bulk of his education at home. His home schooling proved to be a good education. As a young boy growing up in North Carolina in the early 1800 s, Levi saw firsthand the reality of slavery. One day while he was out with his father helping to chop wood by the roadside, a group of slaves, handcuffed and chained together, passed by on their way to be sold in Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana. When Levi s father asked them why they were chained, one of the men sadly replied: They have taken us away from our wives and children, and they chain us lest we should make our escape and go back to them. 1 After the group of slaves had gone, young Levi wondered to himself how he would feel if his father were taken away from him. • 29. Geoffrey Chaucer s Bath And The Miller s Tale Essay Geoffrey Chaucer, the author of The Canterbury Tales, writes these stories to express a variety of themes and lessons. One of these themes is the fidelity or loyalty in marriages during the late thirteen hundreds. Chaucer uses a collection of pilgrims and their tales to portray the main types of marriage during this time. These views are narrowed down to three main types and they are the feminine view, the courtly view, and the common or fabliaux view. These main types are seen in The Wife of Bath s Prologue and Tale, The Franklin s Tale, and The Miller s Tale. During this time period, a few women had a very feminist view on the idea of marriage. This is the idea that women should have freedom in the marriage and be able to do the same things in the community as her husband. This also means that in the context of the marriage, the wife should be the most powerful and have control over her husband. This was especially expressed from the Wife of Bath as she speaks of her views in her prologue and her tale. In the Wife of Bath s prologue, she tells that she has had four husbands before the one she has now and that she is not ashamed of her lack of virginity even as some of the community members look down on her. She doesn t think it s fair that if a woman has more than one husband in her lifetime, she is frowned upon, but it is acceptable for men to remarry several times (Marcotte). The drum break had a main problem and that is that the heat within is not efficiently disbursed. Since the drum prevents wind from drawing it away. The heat produced inside the drum does not easily escape. The disk brake however was open to the wind, allowing the heat to be easily carried away, increasing the efficiency of the break. The development and use of the disk brakes was fist in England in the 1980 s. Frederick William Lanchaster was the first guy that patented the first ever caliper type disk brake in his Birmingham factory in 1902 and it was used successfully on his Lanchaster cars. He struggled to keep up the maintenance of a quality brake because of the limited choice of metals in the period of time. Causing him to use copper as the braking medium acting on the disk. However, due to the bad road conditions, it didn t allow copper to last very long because copper can wear out easily, making the disk brake system non viable. Crosley Hot Shot in the 1950 is often given the credit for first use of the U.S production of disk brake. The Chrystal Crown Imperial had them first used actually, as a standard equipment at the beginning of the model year in 1942. The Law the Action is Brought Under The lawsuit is brought under 42 U.S.C. § 1983. Section 1983, or civil actions for deprivation of rights, is an amended version of the Civil Rights Act of 1871. The writer discusses that humans are using other species for their benefits and causing them pain by scientific experiments as well as by pleasure purposes. This results in the extinction of many species and disrupts the ecosystem. Moreover, David Suzuki s main point throughout this article is to explain and convince readers that animals have body systems similar to humans and they also feel fear and pain. In addition, he discusses that it is unethical to cause pain in animals for humans own benefits. Suzuki s main thesis of this article is a discussion about the similarities between human rights and animal rights. He also focuses on animals used for research due to their similarities such as their bodies, responses, and nervous system with humans. In addition, humans use them for pleasure which cause them fear and pain that is unethical. Suzuki has persuaded readers by connecting his childhood experience of hunting and fishing as well as moments he realized that it is painful for the animals. Specifically, the description about the holes in the fish s mouth and the pain and fear from it in the fish is very touching to the readers. Moreover, Suzuki made an effective discussion by talking about animal s life after being tested if they survive. He made readers to think and feel about the pain of animals by his emotional questions, What gives us the right to exploit other living organisms as we see fit? How do we know that these other creatures don t feel pain or anguish just as we do? Perhaps there s no problem with fruit flies, but where do we draw the line? (Suzuki, 1989, p.681). Suzuki s main purpose is to convince the audience that animals feel pain and it is unethical to make animals suffer from pain for our benefits. Suzuki suggests that it is not wise to use animals for research as well as for our pleasure to the extent that results in extinction.
