King Lear and Death of a Salesman Essay
Social pressures change as time passes, therefore it is interesting to see how these three texts whom
differ by almost four hundred years perceive society and the effect this has on the protagonists;
Shakespeare s King Lear which was first performed in 1606 during the Jacobean era, presents a
patriarchal society. Whilst, Arthur Miller uses the characters in Death of a salesman to show the failure
of the American dream during the golden era of America in the late 40 s. The American Dream was a
set of ideals which suggested that anyone in the US could be successful through hard work, and had
the potential to live a happy life. The sense of the deterioration in the equality of opportunities links to

Willy chooses to exaggerate his success in front of his family and even his boss in Act 2, but when he
is contradicted Now, Willy, you never averaged... he still continues on with his façade thus further
emphasizing his delusional nature. He teaches his children that they should be liked and you will
never want, which implies that for Willy popularity is more important as it is this that will deem how
prosperous one is in business as that man is the man who gets ahead. This contradicts the initial ideals
of the American dream where you work hard in order to achieve success, and hence could be used by
Miller to indicate how futile the concept was as well as how it lead to people conceiving inconceivable
dreams He had the wrong dreams as mentioned by Biff in the requiem.
Moreover, throughout the play the upbringing of Biff and Happy can be seen mirroring the childhood
of Willy and his older brother Ben. During the requiem, Happy feels it is his duty to avenge his father
in a way so Willy Loman did not die in vain. Did not provokes a strong feeling of confidence that he
will be the one to make his father proud after his death. Through the play Happy is undermined by his
father and seen to be second best to Biff; therefore him claiming to be the one to win it for him could
suggest that he s never overcome this feeling of neglect from his father,

Sleeping Schedule Analysis
I do not have a regular weekly schedule. I do very little planning out when I will work on assignments
and when I will study ahead of time. Other than my class and work schedule, my commitment to
studying, going to the gym, sleeping, socializing at specified times throughout the day varies on a
weekly basis based on my work load and what is happening on and around campus. However, every
Friday I take time to figure out all the assignments I have due and activities that I have planned the
coming week. This list is prioritized and I can use it to determine when I am going to have to do the
most work. This gives me the ability to work ahead if I desire or know that I can put off doing an

Most of the time allotted to doing homework is during my five hour morning gap between classes.
Though I am allocating a great deal of time to my school work, it is a good deal less than the
recommended class to study hours ratio. It is recommended that students dedicate two hours of work
outside of class for every hour in class. Because I am physically in a class twenty four and a half hours
a week, I should be spending forty nine hours outside of class studying or doing homework. In order
to do this I would, taking into account the amount of time spent doing necessary things such as
sleeping and eating, need to limit myself to about three hours of free time a day. While this may
initially sound like a good deal of time. This is based of a week s schedule where I did not go to the
gym or workout at all. This will decrease the amount of free time that I have even further. This
schedule also did not take into account time spent getting ready for class and whenever I left my room,
this severely decreases the amount of free time I would have available. While it is entirely feasible to
increase the number of hours I commit to my studies, I am unwilling to drastically diminish the
amount of time I spend with my friends, especially in the evenings when I am tired from having class
and working all day. However, I should still work to increase the amount of time I

Medea Monologue
I must do this act merely for the sake of Medea and my two sons, they are who I must do this for,
Jason whispers to himself whilst sitting at the edge of his bed. The sheets of the bed begin to rustle,
what are you doing my dear husband, come now return to bed, Medea utters softly from beneath the
white cotton sheets. Jason stands up from the bed and walk towards Medea s sleeping frame,
I will soon my love, but I must first finish this task I have already begun He says as he leans in

Natives and Self-government Essay
Natives and Self government
From the moment of organized European appearances in North America, negotiation has been a
central characteristic of relationships between aboriginal residents and newcomers. It is a
characteristic that has been evident in treaty making throughout Canada for more than three hundred
years and it continues to be the order of the day in modern treaties, claims and agreements being
negotiated with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis across in Canada. 1
One of the central issues in the negotiations over the past three decades has been the question of
aboriginal self government, which has taken second place only to comprehensive land claims
negotiations in areas where no treaties have been signed to date.
VIEWS OF ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among academics, political leaders, and government representatives differences of opinion and
concern abound: differences about the most beneficial structure of self government, about who
controls what, about when self government should be implemented, about whether or not a true form
self government can ever be achieved.
Those who are critical of current forms of aboriginal self government view them as little more than
convenient arrangements that allow aboriginal people administrative responsibility for services which
are ultimately controlled by the federal or provincial government.3 They argue that self government is
essentially glorified municipal government; arrangements which are far from the ideal of a third level
of government equal in legislative and financial authority to the federal and provincial governments.4
Self government proposals also have their critics among the very people for whom it is intended. For
example, Inuit women have objected to many parts of the Nunavut agreement mainly because of
concerns about an emphasis on conventional southern Canadian notions of resource management.
They also had concerns and about an emphasis on the economic, social and political roles and issues
for men at the expense of those of women in Nunavut (Inuit Women‰s Association, 1993). In

John F. Kennedy Gave the Order for the Bay of Pigs Invasion
When John F. Kennedy, President of the United States of America, gave the orders to invade Cuba and
overthrow Castro, America was expecting a victory. The American population expected Cuba to be
destroyed. They thought Cuba could not stand up to the United States. What they didn t expect was
that Cuba would put up a fight. The Bay of Pigs invasion was a deciding factor in the Cold War that
gave Cuba and the Soviet Union strength, and decreased morale and confidence in the Americans. The
Bay of Pigs invasion took place during the Cold War, which was not an actual war, but it consisted of
tensions between the USSR (United Soviet Socialist Republic) and the United States and both their
allies. The Cold War began in the late 1940 s and ended in the early 1990 s. Harry S. Truman, Dwight
D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Richard Nixon were several important
United States Presidents during the time of the Cold War. Joseph Stalin, Nikita Khrushchev, and
Leonid Brezhnev were several important Soviet leaders at the time. Ernesto Che Guevara and Fidel
Castro were also some of the more important leading figures in Cuba.
On the first of January in 1959, Fidel Castro took over the presidency of Cuba, using his guerilla army
( Bay of Pigs Invasion ) to overthrow General Fulgencio Batista, an American backed president ( Bay
of Pigs Invasion ). A dishonest and tyrannical dictator, Batista was disliked by his people, yet he was a

Slavery In The Founding Brothers
Slavery, an underlying theme throughout the first chapter of Founding Brothers, takes center stage in
the second chapter. Ellis blames Congress for not appropriately addressing the issue. Congress failed
the nation by refusing to either seek a compromise or acknowledge the compromise s impossibility.
Shortly after the dinner party, some Quakers presented petitions that called for an end to the African
slave trade. Southern representatives insisted that the Constitution prohibited Congress from passing
laws that abolished or restricted the slave trade until 1808. Benjamin Franklin signed the Pennsylvania
Abolition Society which claimed that the Constitution allowed Congress to take whatever action to
eliminate human trafficking. The House of Representatives, formed committees to debate what they
should do next. This caused a breakdown of decency in the House. Compromise, another reoccurring
theme, was absent during the slavery debate. It was the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Thomas Scott argued that slavery was not protected by the Constitution and suggested that Congress
should use the Declaration as a guide since it declared that all men were created equal. On the other
hand, James Jackson supported slavery through both Biblical verses and the fact that it was the power
source of the Southern economy.
The question of slavery divided the United States so significantly that it grew more unsolvable every
time the decision was postponed. Abolishment of slavery in the South would mean a complete
economic and cultural upheaval. Some of the northern states had already made slavery illegal, while
other states in the region permitted its practice. The idea of freedom for all men was always appealing
to Jefferson, so he believed that all slaves born after 1800 should be freed. He also opposed the spread
of slavery into the Western territories of the

Protect the Peace in Somalia Essay
Protect the Peace in Somalia
Popular culture s depiction of pirates and piracy is romanticized and sanitized through favorable
portrayals of characters like Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean; however the real piracy that has
been occurring in Somalia is very different from what is shown in the movies. This has been going on
for many years and no organization has been able to put a stop to this. Pirates board ships and hold the
captain and crew hostage until the ship owners pay ransom, and if they refuse the pirates do not resist
killing the hostages. Pirates have also been known to steal resources such as oil, but this is not as
common. The U.S. needs to take action in combating Somalian piracy by targeting networks through

The best solution to the Somali Piracy problem is targeting networks which involves keeping the
pirates under constant watch and control. Targeting networks is a system where the government tracks
the pirates in Somalia and tracks everything they do to make sure they don t go back onto the waters.
This is similar to the way that the United States combats organized crime. Authorities would monitor
bank accounts, engage in direct and electronic surveillance, and aggressively pursue frequent
offenders (Thomas). If the pirates were under constant surveillance, they would be less likely to go out
onto the waters because they would be aware that they are being watched. We are focused on
identifying and apprehending the criminal conspirators who lead, manage, and finance the pirate
enterprise, with the objective of bringing them to trials. (Francesco) By targeting networks, the U.S. is
focused on bringing pirates to justice and stopping them from going on to the waters and stealing
money and resources.
Many countries and groups are involved in helping end the worldwide problem of piracy in Somali.
The U.S. government, the Somali pirates, NATO and the UN are four of the many groups that are
involved with the issue of Somali Piracy. NATO s goal is to provide peaceful resolution to disputes.
Not contesting Somalia piracy issues would be in direct conflict with their goals (Dryad). NATO is

What Is Auschwitz Concentration Camp
Auschwitz
Over 1 million jews were killed at the Auschwitz concentration camp. Jews were taken from their
homes and put into concentration camps against their will. The most famous of them was Auschwitz.
This concentration camp was by far the largest and had the biggest effect on the Jewish Race.
Auschwitz was located in the suburbs of an abandoned city. The camp was originally a detention
center for political prisoners. But, the camp would soon be the biggest concentration camp in history.
Almost 1.25 million people that were deported to the camp would be killed.
The commanders of Auschwitz were Lieutenant Colonel Rudolf Huess and Colonel Arthur
Liebchenzel. They divided the camp into three different parts. The main camp, Birkenau, and the third
Manowitz. Most of the jews in the concentration camps were put in gas chambers, enslaved, or

High School Graduation Rates in California and the United...
Between 1990 and 2012, high school graduation rates in 25 29 year olds have increased from 86 to 90
percent; this overall national rise is reflected in each of the ethnicities, White, Hispanic, Black, and
Asian/Pacific Islander (National Center for Education Statistics [NCES], 2013a). Prior to 2012,
nationwide standardized objective measures did not exist for measuring four year high school
graduation rates; tracking educational progress varied from state to state. Thus, state education data
collected from 1990 2012 are inaccurate as effective comparative groups unless knowledge of the state
specific previous methodologies is utilized (U.S. Department of Education, 2012a). Since 2012, the

Chen s state graduation rate data referenced the U.S. Department of Education to compare against her
national percentages; this strengthened her findings. According to Nhan (2012), the Department of
Education did not release national averages for race/ethnicity groups because several states had
requested deadline extensions for these numbers, resulting in an incomplete data set. Thus, California
s progress is difficult to measure against that of the United States. Additionally, Chen s results did not
provide the rates for sub divided racial/ethnic groups like that of California. This difference in how
students are labeled and/or reported may skew the national population demographic for each of Chen s
three reported minorities. In spite of this, her data portrays that Asian and Latino students in the U.S.
have significantly lower graduation rates than in California. Nationally, recent immigration and non
high school attendance in the U.S. contributes to the low percent for Latino students (Child Trends,
2013). Adversely, graduation rates for Black students in California reflect the national average.
Overall, these statistics point out that educational resources need to be more effectively allocated to
focus on California s Black communities and to Asian and Latino communities nationwide.

Analysis Of Ted Buettner s Video And Transcript
After careful review of Ted Buettner s video and transcript and review of his findings, I would think

limits, is dictated by our genes. The other 90 percent is dictated by our lifestyle . I do agree with

When one thinks of Roman architecture, many things come to mind, such as arches, columns, statues,

cultures preceding them in order to create their masterpieces of ingenuity. This phenomenon can be
seen in our borrowing of ideas of ancient Greece and Rome for the construction of our capitol

Villa s structures conforming to the terrain. Unfortunately, in the 16th century AD, these example of

Sociology Moral Indignation
Degradation ceremonies fall within the sociology of indignation moral scope (Schwartz). As a social
effect, it is an instance of a class of emotional states particular to how organized human beings can be
as they live alongside each other. Effects have their behavioral paradigms; for instance, the effect of
shame is seen in withdrawal or covering of the body part that socially defines an individual s public
appearance, which is the eyes and face. The paradigm of shame, in this case, is seen in phrases that
signify the removal of self from the public, such as I wish the earth would open up and swallow me.
The paradigm of moral indignation, therefore, is public denunciation. Moral indignation serves to
influence the ritual ruin of the person

Catcher In The Rye Symbolism Analysis
A baseball mitt, a museum, and ducks are obviously three completely different objects, but in The
Catcher in the Rye from 1951 they all possess various similarities. Not only are they all cases of
symbolism, but they all connect to the main character s brother. Holden, the main character,
perpetually dwells on the death of his brother Allie and these three symbols are representations of his
feelings and his inability to mature. In the novel, J.D. Salinger uses symbolism to give us deeper
insight into the reminiscent feelings and depression of Holden. The three symbols do more than just
represent his emotions, though. They also act as mental obstacles for him, and together, they prove the
fact that he still has not moved on from the death of his brother, he still wants to live in the past, and
he has much to overcome.
At the beginning of the book, we first learn about Allie when Holden agrees to write an illustrative
assignment for his roommate, Stradlater, and he makes the paper about Allie s baseball mitt. He tells
us The thing that was descriptive about it, though, was that he had poems written all over the fingers
and the pocket and everywhere (5.43). Not only does Holden vividly remember the mitt, but he also
has it with him in his suitcase, so we know that it s sentimental for him. Holden continues on to state
that [he] sort of liked writing about it (5.44). At this point in the book, he seems to be sad over the
death of his younger brother, but he doesn t appear to

Mexican Migrant Workers and Lynch Culture Essay
Mexican Migrant Workers and Lynch Culture
More than a million agricultural workers migrated to the United States in the early twentieth century.
The majority of these persons found work on small family farms in California; the white owners of
these farms welcomed cheap labor. Although most migrant workers in California today are of Mexican
descent, they originally came from all over the world: East and West Europe, China, Japan, Korea and
Latin America, along with Mexico. The shift to almost exclusively Mexican migrant workers in the
early 1900s was intentional. Growers at this time anticipated racial conflicts between the immigrating
workers and the natives of California. Growers minimized local opposition to ... Show more content

The Texas Rangers were infamous for their brutality. In the name of justice they executed thousands
of Mexican migrant workers without any repercussions. As early as the late 1800s, the Rangers began
their violent attempt at repression. Onofrio Baca, a Mexican migrant worker, was arrested in 1881 on
the suspicion of murder. The Rangers arrested him and promptly had him lynched, his body left to
hang for days in front of the courthouse. [3]
Though the Rangers were the most well known law enforcement agency attacking the Mexican
immigrant, they were not alone. For example, Jesus Romo was being held in custody by officers in
California when he was taken by a group of masked men and hanged. [4] The majority of the Mexican
Americans lynched between 1848 and 1870 were already in custody when they were taken and
hanged. Records indicate 473 out of every 100,000 Mexican migrant workers during this time period
died as victims of a lynching. [5]
Over one hundred years have passed since the beginning of large scale Mexican migrant worker
immigration, yet groups in San Diego County, and other border towns are still fighting to embrace the
lynch culture created by the Texas Rangers and similar organizations. Groups such as The Arizona
Ranchers Alliance and American Patrol are working ardently to ensure that

Barack Obama s State Of The Union Speech
Truthfully, there are a lot of significant Economic issues that were addressed in President Obama s
State of the Union Speech. Obama had many successes in the past year, including: the strongest
production of jobs in fifteen years, drivers saving an expected hundred dollars because gasoline prices
were extremely low, and the unemployment rate plummeting to a miniscule 5.6%. However, the
wages of middle class Americans remain unchanging. President Obama plans to fix this issue, using
what he referred to as Middle Class Economics . What is the idea of Middle Class Economics?

Throughout the twenty first century, technology has been one of the major focusses of people world
wide. Technology has even helped the unemployment rate by creating new jobs that wouldn t have
been around twenty years ago. Overall, technology is a helpful tool that is used to advance our
knowledge of the world we live in. However, technology can also be used for wrong doing. One
example of how technology can be used for wrong doing comes in the form of identity theft.
According to Merriam Webster, identity theft is the illegal use of someone s personal identifying
information in order to get money or credit. For example, in modern day America, companies are
putting the personal information of their customers in the cloud, a data server that is connected to the
internet. As technology advances, it is getting harder for companies to protect your personal
information, and easier for identity thieves to hack into the cloud and steal it. Thankfully, President
Obama is determined to strengthen cyber security, and so he has introduced a series of proposals
designed to aid the fight against identity theft. Firstly, Obama wants companies to share information
with the government, in order to help the companies scan their servers for malicious software known
as malware. Also, the president wants a system where customers will be alerted if their credit card is

For Mrs. Hewes the Introduction to Social Work class we were asked to interview a licensed Social
Worker and write an experience paper about the interview. Finding a social worker to interview wasn t
very hard for me because many of my mother s friends got their masters in social work, but not many
of them actually got their license except for one of them. The licensed social worker that I interviewed
goes by the name of Tanya Hill. Tanya got her Masters of Social Work at Florida State University in
Tallahassee, Florida in 2000, as well as her license and she now resides in Panama City, Florida. Tanya
is someone that I have known since I was a little girl and someone that I definitely aspire to be like
once I graduate. My interview with Tanya was over the phone since I did not have time to drive back
to Florida to do a face to face one, but while we were on the phone every answer she gave me to the
questions I asked were quite interesting. The first question I asked during the interview was, How long
have you been working with this agency? In this field? Tanya s response was that she has been Self
Employed for 16 years. When I asked Tanya if the agency was public or private or a non profit or for
profit, she said that she was a for profit solo practitioner. Another question that I had to ask her is,

International Labor Standards Of Child Work
V. INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVE International labour standards characterize child work by its
outcomes; it includes work that is rationally, physically, socially or ethically perilous and destructive
to children, and meddles with their educating. UNICEF characterizes child work as work that
surpasses a base number of hours, contingent upon the age of a child and on the sort of work. The 18th
International Conference of Labor Statisticians held at Geneva held that Child work (slated for
nullification) ought to reflect the engagement of children in undesirable exercises and could fall into
the accompanying classes: (i) Labour that is performed by a child who is below the minimum age
specified for that kind of work and that is thus likely to impede the child s education and full
development. (ii) Labour that jeopardizes the health, safety or morals of a child, either because of its
nature or because of the conditions in which it is carried out (known as hazardous work). (iii) The
worst forms of child labour other than hazardous work which are internationally defined to encompass
children (persons below 18 years of age) in slavery, trafficking, debt bondage and other forms of
forced labour, forced recruitment of children for use in armed conflict, their use in prostitution and
pornography, and illicit activities The International Labor Organization has evaluated that in 2004
there were 218 million children caught in child work of whom 126 million where in dangerous work.

increased 6% compared the sectors net sales in 2010. This includes a 3% growth in sales to
foodservice distributors and 11% increase in sales to convenience stores customers. The reason for the
increase was due to net price realization and prices indexed to commodity markets. The International

in their sexual organ (vagina). The effect of HSV can make it easier for one to get HIV. It can cause
problems in the nervous system, this is because once it is contacted, it will travel through the nerves

mother to the unborn child, causing fatal problem. If you are seeking for help on how to prevent HSV,
ask your partner about his or her sexual history. Also ask your partner to be tested for genital herpes.

Mary Magdalen With The Smoking Flame Analysis
On the left we have Caravaggio, The Conversion of St. Paul, 1600, and on the right we have Georges
de la Tour, Magdalen with the Smoking Flame, 1640. These two paintings represent major movements
within art such as the influence of artists on one another, and the approach of religious paintings
during the seventeenth century. Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio was known for
introducing realism and drama by using theatrical lighting and gesture to Italian Baroque art.
Caravaggio s paintings were focused on religious matter commissioned for the Catholic Church.
Georges de la Tour was well known in his own time but then forgotten until well into the twentieth
century. His work consisted mostly of candlelit subjects, and he commissioned paintings for royal
aristocrats such as King Louis XIII and Henry II of Lorraine. George de la Tour is one of the most
important examples of the many artists during the seventeenth century who were greatly influenced by
the work of Caravaggio.

light source of the painting to the viewer, and putting the light source directly in the center of the

reflective state of a follower of Christ. This painting shows Mary Magdalen, a repentive prostitute,
putting aside her jewels and rich clothing to meditate on mortality while looking into a flickering
flame. Georges creates subtle hints of religious meaning through items throughout the painting. The

her following of Christ, and the scourge refers to the pain and suffering that Mary may have been

Biography Of Ludwig Van Beethoven s Symphony
Ludwig Van Beethoven s monumental 9th Symphony was his crowning achievement from his long
career. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwpbcL8Fmdc is the link to view the concert! This piece
was highly controversial, and most people at the time had thought Beethoven had finally gone mad
when the truth is, he was just going deaf. While attention tends to focus on the choral finale, the
opening of the work is every bit as momentous. He immediately established the key, which served as a
logical bridge to the exposition. Never before had I heard a symphony begin with such pure
atmosphere and suspense! Beethoven makes his path in the harmony, and every other aspect of the
piece, unclear and unexpected. He then teases us with all of the three basic elements of music tonality,
rhythm and melody which he purposely left receptive to every and all possibilities. An open fifth, the
most ancient and mysterious interval of music, suggests either A major or minor in the melody. The
melody sounds like a rhythm less tremolo, (a wavering effect in the tone, typically produced by rapid
reiteration of a note, or sometimes by rapid repeated variation in the pitch of a note or by sounding
two notes of slightly different pitches to produce prominent overtones.) But it is notated as sextolets
(groups of six notes played in the time of four). Notes begin to cascade, but this was just mere
building blocks of nascent melody. Gradually but purposefully, these undefined elements that we got

The Opening Of The Imperial Ballet School
After the Romantic era ballet had died out in Paris and Russia became the new focus. In 1738, the
opening of the Imperial Ballet School in St. Petersburg attracted many great dancers and
choreographers such as Marie Taglioni. This school was controlled by an aristocrat named Czar. The
most well known 19th century choreographer, Marius Petipa, became the ballet master of the entire
school, shaping imperial and classical ballet. Ideas such as increased focus on technique, formulaic
choreography, mime and gesture, and lengthy ballets can be seen in Petipa s most famous ballets.
These famous ballets include The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, and Swan Lake. In the 20th
century, Sergei Diaghilev introduced a traveling ballet company called Ballet Russes. Starting out in
Paris, this company brings together Russian and Western ideas with a spark of modernism. This
company brought together revolutionary collaborations between choreographers, dancers, composers,
artists, and fashion designers. Through the development of Russian ballet, there has been rejection and
embracement as well as changes in structure and choreography. Ballet master Marius Petipa moved to
Russia because he felt hidden in the shadows of his more famous brother Lucien Petipa. For three
decades, he was the ballet master of the Imperial Ballet School creating lavish, extravagant ballets
unlike the previous Romantic era had. Petipa had some new ideas for the ballet. For example,

They were captured and brought to their new homes in chains. America came to the Africans; the
Africans did not come to America. In many pieces of African American literature, the voiceless and
choiceless mentality can be seen. In Incidents in a Life of a Slave Girl, Linda Brent recounts a time
when her voice and choice were not heard. She was fifteen and her master, Dr. Flint, whispered
impure and unclean statements in her ears that never left young Linda s mind.
I turned from him with disgust and hatred. But he was my master. I was compelled to live under the
same roof with him.... there is no shadow of law to protect her from insult, from violence, or even
from death; all these are inflicted by fiends who bear the shape of men. (361)
Linda is embarrassed, angry, and ashamed to be subjected to this level of comment from a middle

escaped from his grasp. A slave has no choice in the path his or her life takes. They did not choose to

This was hard on the Greek people more than the other people of the empires. They had be fixed in

however the rulers of the three empires were able to calm them people down and things were stable
again. Out of all of the the places of the empires I thinks that the most important place must be
Alexandria in egypt and there grate library. There library reminds me so much of the philosophers
school in athens. There is so much new ideas and plans of inventions could change the world! I thinks
there could be more than 50,000 scrolls People like archimedes who made great inventions like the
archimedes screw which help people get more water. Or Eratosthenes how arcuately found the world s
crumufances. He did this by telling a friend to go 500 miles into africa and plant a post next to a well
where the the sun fits perfectly into the well. While his friend did that he planted one in Alexandria.

The Pros And Cons Of Donald Trump
So, everyone and their brother is all hot and bothered over Donald Trump making some objectionable
comments 11 years ago, in private to another man. Of course the media is all over this, that is their
MO. Ignore the emails released regarding real corruption and focus on Trump with feigned outrage
because he used some dirty words was lusting after a woman.
News flash, if you are so hot and bothered about objectifying women then Hey Fox , yah better pull
Empire off the TV because Lucius Lions got a hummer on national TV from his assistant. Then his
wife got hers from the UPS delivery guy. Of course we can include Sex in the City, and let s not forget
Katie Perry, Mylie Cyrus who regularly put out sexual songs and videos. We won t even touch ...

He talks trash with other men, most of the male population do. Its only when their own dirty little
secrets come out that the outrage gets brushed under the carpet. What is fundamentally wrong with the
Republican party is that there is no actual loyalty unless you re an elite. Democrats, I will give credit
to they stick together and actually defend each other no matter how dirty one of them is.
Now here s the reality check, does any of this crap change my vote? No it doesn t. Why you may be
asking yourself, because we need an ASSHOLE in chief who is able to deal with all the evil that is out
there and Donald Trump has proven he is capable of doing so. He has my support because that is what
we need. Washington is corrupt, the DOJ is corrupt, the FBI is corrupt, the media is corrupt, and both
political parties are as dirty as you can get. We have ISIS breathing down our necks, politicians
pushing for a new world order that we are supposed to give up our sovereignty for. Illegal immigration
is strangling everyone in this country, our faith is under a genocidal attack. That includes, Christians,
Buddhists, Jews Mormons. There is a religious war going on and we need to wake

Aslan By Cs Lewis Analysis
Analysis: Aslan is a representation of adulthood and the idea of having responsibilities and reaching
full maturity. In the story written by C.S Lewis, we learn each member of the Pevensie siblings have
different charcter aspects that determine their view on Aslan (adulthood). Peter the eldest of the
Pevensie siblings is the most courageous and brave of them. This shows the Peter is very mature and
can face difficult obstacles that come in his way. His reaction was bravery and adventure, showing that
he looks forward with confidence in his future and may be the most ready. Susan Pevensie, the second
oldest, reacted with delight. Susan looks forward to her future also; delights, even, in the idea of being
a woman and maturing completely. Edmund

Video Games Call Of Duty
One of the biggest controversial cases among parents and children is, whether to allow them to play
violent video games. Many people often assume that these intense games have a direct correlation to
becoming a violent person. While many people agree with this, the research is not 100% accurate.
This makes it very hard to find proof that a violent video game is one of the leading causes of a violent
person. We are often blaming these games for a more internal complex problem.
One of the leading video games Call Of Duty focuses on killing people in order to win the game. This
game has over 40 million users and is the most successful franchise in all of history. In my opinion
what is the fun of theoretically killing virtual people? I do not think kids should be subjective to
watching this violence at a young age. These games should be geared for adults more than children.
When the child is held at the age of accountability they can then decide what games are good for
them.
When a shooting happens many people are looking for reasons as to why it happened, many times
they automatically assumed that person played violent video games. Conservatives start to raise their
opinion when things in American go awry. Republican Donald Trump tweeted on Twitter: Video game
violence glorification must be stopped it s creating monsters! In hopes to end the video games that
correlate to violence the government plans to take action. The state Rep. of Missouri, Diane Franklin,
has brought

Saint Augustine s Confessions And The City Of God
Saint Augustine (354 430 C.E.) is often considered the greatest of all Christianity s founders. His
theology is vital to the doctrine of the clinical church and years yet to come. His abilities as a preacher
and commentator brought about his fast development in the church hierarchy to come the bishop of
Hippo in northern Africa. Saint Augustine best regarded works are his autobiographical Confessions
and The city of God. These two writings deliver a Christian interpretation to events and reasoning to
slavery. In 410 A.D., Alaric and his Goths sacked or raided Rome. Many blamed Christianity for
Rome s fall. People would suggest that the pagan gods were irritated due to the fact Christianity had
been promoted through the empire. Augustine s wrote The City of God as a response to people who
believed that. The point Augustine made when regarding to the sack of Rome is that the city s own
lust of domination, claiming territory and enslaving other nations, led to their own domination. He
pointed out that the barbarian invaders had spared most of the churches and that even pagans had
taken refuge in the Christian churches. This sheds a positive light on the sack of Rome, claiming that
many of its enemies received redemption and became useful citizens of the city. Essentially he thought
that, Rome was sacrificed so that the influence of God could be spread among the city s enemies. He
also believed that those who blame Christ for disasters but not for the benefits they have

Essay On America s Education System
Have you ever thought about America s education system? It is very interesting to talk
about because of how much it has changed from the past to the present. Education first was
required for children in America in 1785 when the Land Ordinance and Northwest Ordinance
were created, they stated that the nation s responsibility was to have an education system.
Education was not that important back in 1785, but in the mid
1960 s education started booming.
When the ESEA aimed to give students living in poverty, minority students and others who had
struggled for a fair chance by providing billions of dollars in Title I funds to schools. Present
day
education is something that almost all children in America have to do. With the recent boost in ...

The rise of technology in 2000 is very relevant to because we use technology almost every day
in school nowadays. Upon the rise of technology education has changed rapidly, and the
requirement that we have to do standardized testing has also changed the education system in
America.
Education is being remodeled and fixed, because it has many problems such as
technology not working, the testing students take, and the content teachers are teaching their
students. In the 21st century students in schools now have to take standardized testing, this is
also called high
stakes testing because of the high stakes that the student is going through, like
whether or not you will skip a class. These tests can sometimes put you in a class too hard or too
easy for the student because the tests a student might take are long and tiring and make students
want to guess and not do their best so they can get it over with. Another common problem with
education is the Common Core Standards. These standards that teachers teach to their students.
These standards are a problem because states with higher standards that adopt the common

An Analysis Of Mechanical Solidarity
Last month, Harvey Weinstein, an extremely successful Hollywood producer, was accused of sexual
harassment and assault by many women. Following the occurrence, other highly respected men,
particularly those involved in the movie industry, have also been accused of similar offences. There
has been a snowball effect of allegations as more recent incidents have been mentioned that encourage
victims of earlier incidents to come forward. These accusations, previously hidden and ignored, are
being mentioned now because of improved social networks amongst women, stronger solidarity
against the issue of sexual offences, and feminist politics in rape response. To understand social
networks, relationships and their forms are analyzed. In those networks ... Show more content on

By providing care and assistance to victims of sexual assault, rape crisis centres are effective and
lasting products of second wave feminism (Corrigan 2014). Although rape crisis centres are
institutions created by feminist politics, workers refuse to use the term feminist as a label for their
services (Corrigan 2014). According to Corrigan (2014), the label rejection is a useful tactic in
keeping the feminist movement alive in politic; the label rejection keeps feminism versatile. Although
rape crisis centres have been successful, the institutions continue to face obstacles as a result of being
politically marginalized. Relating back to Simmel and Wolff (1950) and social network analysis,
strong ties are meaningful ties where relationships between individuals and groups can benefit.
However, the marginalization can make the ties weak by preventing access to potential resources
provided by national connections (Corrigan

Only 35 people per 1000 own cars in China which compared to the United States, 600 per 1000,
shows there is ample room for growth in the market. Most major car manufacture has a presence in the
market, but political forces limit the penetration of these companies. According to report in Business
source complete, the Chinese government is even pressuring domestic companies to grow and force
out foreign competition. But this goal of the Chinese government cannot be realized until the smaller
local manufactures can somehow combine so they may compete with larger foreign firms. 3)
Environmental issues are also a main concern within the industry. This issues stems from two areas
Gasoline and CO2 emissions. Gasoline a major factor pertaining not only to the consumption of cars
but also the type of car that is demanded by consumers. While the United States gasoline prices are
relatively lower than other nations, car producers world wide are still producing different cars in the
wake of high gas prices. The low emission car is the new fad in the industry and has jointly led to the
production of the alternative resources cars. The combination of high gas prices and threat of
damaging the environment from combustible engines has increased the consumer s demands for
automobiles to run off of alternative resources. This new development plays well into the strengths of
GM because General Motors is already heavily devoted to R amp;D.

My Day In My Life
I woke up early, about 6 am, happy and relaxed. I was, however, disappointed that I hadn t dreamed of
the monkeys. I took my shower and brushed my teeth. Pleased with all my homework, I went
downstairs. I had a bacon sandwich and a cup of hot chocolate. Dad signed my guardian slip for the
school trip. I checked for my pencils, eraser, and pencil sharpener, and made sure that my book bag
was packed and all was intact. I dressed warmly, with an extra shirt underneath. Feeling so
comfortable in my outfit, I got into the car and waved to my mum. Dad dropped me off at school at 8
am. It was still early for school, so I went straight to the canteen to chat with a few friends. Before

The only option I had was to go for creative thinking and art. The club met twice a week, and if you
were in both groups, you finished at 6:30 pm. They also meet some weekends for rehearsals. Opting
for just one would not be beneficial for me, factoring in the fact that it was for the purpose of
woodland trips. The first thing I did during my second break was to go to the school office to register.
Hopefully, I would gain skills to develop robotic monkeys. It was a Tuesday, and there was a lesson.
The days for the lessons were Tuesdays and Fridays. I phoned my mum and told her about it. From her
reaction over the phone, it seemed she was very pleased. Happy that my parents would support me, I
went to the club after school. I got there quite early and had half an hour wait before the session. The
building was attached to the main school, and I walked through the school parking lot in the loading
bay to my right were three disable bays and four extra spaces adjacent to the building. I assumed the
extra parking was for the main school entrance. The main building was built with high class bricks.
Inside, the building was so magnificent. The building was a high, two story studio. It contained twenty
self contained studios. The ground floor contained three large multi purpose spaces. It was a world
class building on an approximately 5 acre plot. Every room was between 235 feet square to 1500 feet
square. The design was so beautiful. We had two main entrances: the

community involved family members on her father s side. Her paternal grandmother, Joanne Smith,
pushed her four sons to be respectful, always work for what you want to receive, and always
remember where you came from, therefore, Samantha s father Brian decided to get his associates
degree in architecture with a full time job at Glenmark Construction to attain a career and pursue to be

mechanical circulatory support for the heart and lungs called cardiopulmonary bypass. Kenneth and
Elizabeth pushed their two children to achieve a higher education, never give up, and never disbelieve

The Odyssey By Homer And The Old Testaments
The Odyssey by Homer and the Old Testaments: King James Version are two of the most read and
most sophisticated pieces of literature that have transcended through generations. While they share
similar qualities; both greatly differ as well, especially when it comes to the women characters.
Classical historian and professor of classical studies at Wellesley College, Mary Lefkowitz, makes a
significant contrast between these two famous writings. She believes that a major difference between
the women of each story differ dramatically when it comes to their personality and actions. [Although]
the notion... that a man should be active and aggressive, a women passive and subjected to the control
of the men in her family, are expressed in virtually every Greek myth, even the ones in which the
women seek to gain control over their own live....[so] that it is possible to show that the Greeks at
least attributed to women a capacity for understanding that we do not alway find in the other great
mythological tradition that has influenced Western thought, namely, the Old and New Testaments.
(Women in Greek Myth, Mary Lefkowitz). I completely agree with Lefkowitz statement on these
characters, it s very clear that most of the women in the Old Testament are very flat while the Odyssey
is full of well rounded characters especially when it comes to Jacob s wife Rachel and Odysseus s
wife Penelope.
The Old Testament fails to give it s female characters motivation or an understanding of

King Lear and Death of a Salesman Essay Social pressures change as time passes, therefore it is interesting to see how these three texts whom differ by almost four hundred years perceive society and the effect this has on the protagonists; Shakespeare s King Lear which was first performed in 1606 during the Jacobean era, presents a patriarchal society. Whilst, Arthur Miller uses the characters in Death of a salesman to show the failure of the American dream during the golden era of America in the late 40 s. The American Dream was a set of ideals which suggested that anyone in the US could be successful through hard work, and had the potential to live a happy life. This contradicts the initial ideals of the American dream where you work hard in order to achieve success, and hence could be used by Miller to indicate how futile the concept was as well as how it lead to people conceiving inconceivable dreams He had the wrong dreams as mentioned by Biff in the requiem. Moreover, throughout the play the upbringing of Biff and Happy can be seen mirroring the childhood of Willy and his older brother Ben. Other than my class and work schedule, my commitment to studying, going to the gym, sleeping, socializing at specified times throughout the day varies on a weekly basis based on my work load and what is happening on and around campus. However, every Friday I take time to figure out all the assignments I have due and activities that I have planned the coming week. This list is prioritized and I can use it to determine when I am going to have to do the most work. This gives me the ability to work ahead if I desire or know that I can put off doing an assignment another day in favor of something fun and still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the time allotted to doing homework is during my five hour morning gap between classes. Though I am allocating a great deal of time to my school work, it is a good deal less than the recommended class to study hours ratio. It is recommended that students dedicate two hours of work outside of class for every hour in class. Because I am physically in a class twenty four and a half hours a week, I should be spending forty nine hours outside of class studying or doing homework. In order to do this I would, taking into account the amount of time spent doing necessary things such as sleeping and eating, need to limit myself to about three hours of free time a day. While this may initially sound like a good deal of time. This is based of a week s schedule where I did not go to the gym or workout at all. This will decrease the amount of free time that I have even further. This schedule also did not take into account time spent getting ready for class and whenever I left my room, this severely decreases the amount of free time I would have available. While it is entirely feasible to increase the number of hours I commit to my studies, I am unwilling to drastically diminish the amount of time I spend with my friends, especially in the evenings when I am tired from having class and working all day. However, I should still work to increase the amount of time I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Natives and Self-government Essay Natives and Self government From the moment of organized European appearances in North America, negotiation has been a central characteristic of relationships between aboriginal residents and newcomers. It is a characteristic that has been evident in treaty making throughout Canada for more than three hundred years and it continues to be the order of the day in modern treaties, claims and agreements being negotiated with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis across in Canada. 1 One of the central issues in the negotiations over the past three decades has been the question of aboriginal self government, which has taken second place only to comprehensive land claims negotiations in areas where no treaties have been signed to date. Among academics, political leaders, and government representatives differences of opinion and concern abound: differences about the most beneficial structure of self government, about who controls what, about when self government should be implemented, about whether or not a true form self government can ever be achieved. Those who are critical of current forms of aboriginal self government view them as little more than convenient arrangements that allow aboriginal people administrative responsibility for services which are ultimately controlled by the federal or provincial government.3 They argue that self government is essentially glorified municipal government; arrangements which are far from the ideal of a third level of government equal in legislative and financial authority to the federal and provincial governments.4 Self government proposals also have their critics among the very people for whom it is intended. For example, Inuit women have objected to many parts of the Nunavut agreement mainly because of concerns about an emphasis on conventional southern Canadian notions of resource management. They also had concerns and about an emphasis on the economic, social and political roles and issues for men at the expense of those of women in Nunavut (Inuit Women‰s Association, 1993). In ... • 8. John F. Kennedy Gave the Order for the Bay of Pigs Invasion When John F. Kennedy, President of the United States of America, gave the orders to invade Cuba and overthrow Castro, America was expecting a victory. The American population expected Cuba to be destroyed. They thought Cuba could not stand up to the United States. What they didn t expect was that Cuba would put up a fight. The Bay of Pigs invasion was a deciding factor in the Cold War that gave Cuba and the Soviet Union strength, and decreased morale and confidence in the Americans. The Bay of Pigs invasion took place during the Cold War, which was not an actual war, but it consisted of tensions between the USSR (United Soviet Socialist Republic) and the United States and both their allies. The Cold War began in the late 1940 s and ended in the early 1990 s. Harry S. Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Richard Nixon were several important United States Presidents during the time of the Cold War. Joseph Stalin, Nikita Khrushchev, and Leonid Brezhnev were several important Soviet leaders at the time. Ernesto Che Guevara and Fidel Castro were also some of the more important leading figures in Cuba. • 9. Slavery In The Founding Brothers Slavery, an underlying theme throughout the first chapter of Founding Brothers, takes center stage in the second chapter. Ellis blames Congress for not appropriately addressing the issue. Congress failed the nation by refusing to either seek a compromise or acknowledge the compromise s impossibility. Shortly after the dinner party, some Quakers presented petitions that called for an end to the African slave trade. Southern representatives insisted that the Constitution prohibited Congress from passing laws that abolished or restricted the slave trade until 1808. Benjamin Franklin signed the Pennsylvania Abolition Society which claimed that the Constitution allowed Congress to take whatever action to eliminate human trafficking. The House of Representatives, formed committees to debate what they should do next. This caused a breakdown of decency in the House. Thomas Scott argued that slavery was not protected by the Constitution and suggested that Congress should use the Declaration as a guide since it declared that all men were created equal. On the other hand, James Jackson supported slavery through both Biblical verses and the fact that it was the power source of the Southern economy. The question of slavery divided the United States so significantly that it grew more unsolvable every time the decision was postponed. Abolishment of slavery in the South would mean a complete economic and cultural upheaval. Some of the northern states had already made slavery illegal, while other states in the region permitted its practice. • 10. Protect the Peace in Somalia Essay Protect the Peace in Somalia Popular culture s depiction of pirates and piracy is romanticized and sanitized through favorable portrayals of characters like Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean; however the real piracy that has been occurring in Somalia is very different from what is shown in the movies. This has been going on for many years and no organization has been able to put a stop to this. Pirates board ships and hold the captain and crew hostage until the ship owners pay ransom, and if they refuse the pirates do not resist killing the hostages. Pirates have also been known to steal resources such as oil, but this is not as common. The U.S. needs to take action in combating Somalian piracy by targeting networks through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The best solution to the Somali Piracy problem is targeting networks which involves keeping the pirates under constant watch and control. Targeting networks is a system where the government tracks the pirates in Somalia and tracks everything they do to make sure they don t go back onto the waters. This is similar to the way that the United States combats organized crime. Authorities would monitor bank accounts, engage in direct and electronic surveillance, and aggressively pursue frequent offenders (Thomas). If the pirates were under constant surveillance, they would be less likely to go out onto the waters because they would be aware that they are being watched. We are focused on identifying and apprehending the criminal conspirators who lead, manage, and finance the pirate enterprise, with the objective of bringing them to trials. (Francesco) By targeting networks, the U.S. is focused on bringing pirates to justice and stopping them from going on to the waters and stealing money and resources. Many countries and groups are involved in helping end the worldwide problem of piracy in Somali. The U.S. government, the Somali pirates, NATO and the UN are four of the many groups that are involved with the issue of Somali Piracy. NATO s goal is to provide peaceful resolution to disputes. Not contesting Somalia piracy issues would be in direct conflict with their goals (Dryad). NATO is trying to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Prior to 2012, nationwide standardized objective measures did not exist for measuring four year high school graduation rates; tracking educational progress varied from state to state. Thus, state education data collected from 1990 2012 are inaccurate as effective comparative groups unless knowledge of the state specific previous methodologies is utilized (U.S. Department of Education, 2012a). Chen s state graduation rate data referenced the U.S. Department of Education to compare against her national percentages; this strengthened her findings. According to Nhan (2012), the Department of Education did not release national averages for race/ethnicity groups because several states had requested deadline extensions for these numbers, resulting in an incomplete data set. Thus, California s progress is difficult to measure against that of the United States. Additionally, Chen s results did not provide the rates for sub divided racial/ethnic groups like that of California. This difference in how students are labeled and/or reported may skew the national population demographic for each of Chen s three reported minorities. In spite of this, her data portrays that Asian and Latino students in the U.S. have significantly lower graduation rates than in California. Nationally, recent immigration and non high school attendance in the U.S. contributes to the low percent for Latino students (Child Trends, 2013). Adversely, graduation rates for Black students in California reflect the national average. Overall, these statistics point out that educational resources need to be more effectively allocated to focus on California s Black communities and to Asian and Latino communities nationwide. I was compelled to live under the same roof with him.... there is no shadow of law to protect her from insult, from violence, or even from death; all these are inflicted by fiends who bear the shape of men. (361) Linda is embarrassed, angry, and ashamed to be subjected to this level of comment from a middle aged man with a wife and children. Yet, she is unable to escape those words, even after she has escaped from his grasp. A slave has no choice in the path his or her life takes. They did not choose to come to America; they did not choose whose home they served; they had no voluntary actions to speak of. They were involuntary participants in a society that needed them. The South would not have been as prosperous and fertile had it not been for the free labor that slaves provided. Blacks were forced to work and labor for little or no pay and they reaped ... • 44. Video Games Call Of Duty One of the biggest controversial cases among parents and children is, whether to allow them to play violent video games. Many people often assume that these intense games have a direct correlation to becoming a violent person. While many people agree with this, the research is not 100% accurate. This makes it very hard to find proof that a violent video game is one of the leading causes of a violent person. We are often blaming these games for a more internal complex problem. One of the leading video games Call Of Duty focuses on killing people in order to win the game. This game has over 40 million users and is the most successful franchise in all of history. In my opinion what is the fun of theoretically killing virtual people? I do not think kids should be subjective to watching this violence at a young age. These games should be geared for adults more than children. When the child is held at the age of accountability they can then decide what games are good for them. When a shooting happens many people are looking for reasons as to why it happened, many times they automatically assumed that person played violent video games. Conservatives start to raise their opinion when things in American go awry. Republican Donald Trump tweeted on Twitter: Video game violence glorification must be stopped it s creating monsters! • 45. Saint Augustine s Confessions And The City Of God Saint Augustine (354 430 C.E.) is often considered the greatest of all Christianity s founders. His theology is vital to the doctrine of the clinical church and years yet to come. His abilities as a preacher and commentator brought about his fast development in the church hierarchy to come the bishop of Hippo in northern Africa. Saint Augustine best regarded works are his autobiographical Confessions and The city of God. These two writings deliver a Christian interpretation to events and reasoning to slavery. In 410 A.D., Alaric and his Goths sacked or raided Rome. Many blamed Christianity for Rome s fall. People would suggest that the pagan gods were irritated due to the fact Christianity had been promoted through the empire. Augustine s wrote The City of God as a response to people who believed that. The point Augustine made when regarding to the sack of Rome is that the city s own lust of domination, claiming territory and enslaving other nations, led to their own domination. He pointed out that the barbarian invaders had spared most of the churches and that even pagans had taken refuge in the Christian churches. This sheds a positive light on the sack of Rome, claiming that many of its enemies received redemption and became useful citizens of the city. Essentially he thought that, Rome was sacrificed so that the influence of God could be spread among the city s enemies. He also believed that those who blame Christ for disasters but not for the benefits they have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Upon the rise of technology education has changed rapidly, and the requirement that we have to do standardized testing has also changed the education system in America. Education is being remodeled and fixed, because it has many problems such as technology not working, the testing students take, and the content teachers are teaching their students. In the 21st century students in schools now have to take standardized testing, this is also called high stakes testing because of the high stakes that the student is going through, like whether or not you will skip a class. These tests can sometimes put you in a class too hard or too easy for the student because the tests a student might take are long and tiring and make students want to guess and not do their best so they can get it over with. Another common problem with education is the Common Core Standards. These standards that teachers teach to their students.
