The Family Systems Theory During The Mid 20th Century
Murray Bowen, an American psychiatrist, began developing what would become known as the family
systems theory during the mid 20th century. He believed that the family was an emotional unit and
that it could be best understood by looking not just at current family interactions but the interactions of
prior generations as well (Helm, 2009). His focus was on using theory, not therapy, to treat the patient
and the cornerstone of that theory is that human behavior is based on a person being able to maintain
intimacy with loved ones while differentiating themselves sufficiently as individuals so as not to be
swept up by what is transpiring within the family (p. 205).
At both the Menninger Clinic and the National Institute of Mental Health, Bowen became interested in
schizophrenia specifically in relation to the mother and child. He soon realized that he needed to focus
on the entire family rather than just mother and child to provide a more accurate picture for his
research. The Bowen Family Systems theory was born of this realization. The basic premise of the
family systems theory is that the therapist cannot fully understand or successfully treat the client
without first grasping how that individual functions within their family system.
To this end, Bowen postulated eight interlocking concepts for the family as an emotional unit and they
are differentiation of self, triangles, nuclear family emotional process, family projection process,
emotional cutoff, multigenerational

Comprehensive Sex Education Report
All three of these sex educators also spoke to different elements that make the current high school sex
education system damaging to its students. Ms. Corrado related: I think one of the big things is fear
mongering around STIs. Which leads to higher incident rates instead of actually reducing incident
rates, because fear will not actually stop them from doing it , but it just leads to people not knowing
safer sex techniques and not knowing they are transmitting [STIs]. This supports the CDC report
mentioned earlier, about the increasing number of students engaging in sexual activity and becoming
infected with STIs, despite being in abstinence based programs. For Ms. Basler Francis the main issue
was something else entirely: she believes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the SIECUS studies have shown, and from the information gathered from the Center for Sexual
Pleasure and Health Study Sex College tour, students leave comprehensive sex education classes and
workshops with more knowledge, better resources and with less shame about their desires. Despite my
obvious biases towards comprehensive sex education I truly believe that the current system is creating
the exact issues that pro abstinence groups are trying to prevent. Due to their use of shame and scare
tactics, teens are avoiding communication with sexual/romantic partners, not turning to adults in times
of need, unknowingly contracting STIs and infecting others and feeling all around ashamed of the
sexual desires. This is a system that turns an eye away from preventative measures like birth control
and condoms, as well as demonizes people who become pregnant and vilifies those who have
abortions. But most importantly it makes people scared to explore what they want sexually, even more
afraid to ask for what they desire and completely unable to respond to issues where their consent was
given. These are all issues that can be avoided if children in kindergarten through twelfth grade were
provided the information they needed to understand their bodies and more importantly how to use
them, and take care of them. Our culture expects people to automatically know what to do, how to
protect ourselves and be our own sexual advocates, but cringes at the idea of actually teaching those
skills. Nothing will change until we decide that people who are asking the questions are old enough
and prepared to actually hear the

College Sports Persuasive Essay
College sports were originally started to give the school some spirit. It s the same with high school, it
was there to give the kids something to do and give the other kids something to believe in. But, as
time has progressed, college sports have taken a completely different path than high school. Now
college sports have turned into huge money makers, and high school sports struggle to stay alive.
Should college level sports continue as they are? I believe yes, even if it is a bit corrupt, it is beneficial
to the school and could be changed. College sports do a lot to help out the University s budget. This is
undeniable, where else would that TV and cheap knick knack money go? In a world where thirty
percent of America s budgets go to defense, where as five percent goes to education, the teachers need
a different way to get paid. Of course, they have those ridiculous student loans, but that s a different
rant all together. All of that aside, it s hard to argue that college sports don t help the school. The
Gators have earned a hundred and six million dollars in 2008 alone. While some of this money is used

But, we could very easily make everything run much smoother with a few small tweaks. First off, they
need to stop the hard core advertising. Many of the students and coaches are practically owned by
different companies simply because they asked them to advertise. Its clear above that they don t need
the advertising money, so why are they always accepting it? Unless I am remembering it wrong, it is
illegal for non professional players to be paid simply for playing a game. Stopping the advertising that
is just putting money in the coach, and player s, pockets would benefit everyone. Another thing they
could do, is lower how much the coach is getting. 4 million a year is extremely excessive, will cause
large issues in the future, if they aren t

Apostle Paul Contribution
Apostle Paul, using his Jewish heritage as clout, employs his Jewish education throughout his epistles
to further establish a personal connection with the community. He was trained as a Pharisee, which
indicates that he, at one point, spent a considerable amount of time in the city of Jerusalem.
Additionally, Pharisees were the most respected religious group and political party of the Holy Land.
The Pharisees were committed to the accurate interpretation of the [Jewish Scripture] and to
scrupulous obedience to its commands...[and] they aspired to a [high] level of purity (Trebilco 4).
After Paul s conversion to Christianity, it is clear that he regularly consulted and had extensive
knowledge of both the Greek and Hebrew Old Testaments. Paul s ability to cite Old Testament
passages in the Jewish native language displays his familiarity with their theological framework,
creating a religious connection and proving himself to be a trustworthy source of information. In
addition to applying his deeply rooted Jewish background to create kinship among the Jews, Paul was
heavily influenced by his Greek surroundings, and his Hellenistic background fostered Paul s ability to
deliver a new message to a new community, the Gentiles. Born in the Greco Roman city of Tarsus,
Paul received a traditional Greek education along with his conservative Jewish education. Greek
education consisted of grammatical instruction, rhetorical training, and an introduction to Greek
literature, all of which

Caloric Intake Of A Typical Meal At The Olive Garden
I can consume 3373 Calories per day because of my above average height, my weight, my young age,
and my gender (male). Even though I can consume a lot of Calories, I still need to be aware of what I
eat. One of my favorite restaurants is the Olive Garden, thus I am going to compare the caloric intake
of a typical meal at the Olive Garden with my estimated caloric needs. A meal that I typically have is
the chicken parmigiana, the chicken and gnocchi soup, and a raspberry lemonade. The chicken
parmigiana has 1050 Calories, the chicken and gnocchi soup has 250 Calories, and a raspberry
lemonade has 170 Calories; with a total of 1,470 Calories for the entire meal. This means that I would
have 1,903 Calories leftover for my day. This is a lot of Calories leftover, but at the same time its not
if the Calories I consumed were empty Calories, or if I ate out for my previous meals. Empty Calories
add to the total amount of Calories without supplying the nutrients that I need. Undoubtedly Calories
from restaurants add more to the empty Calories of my diet without supplying me with needed
nutrients, than if I would just eat at home. The meal that I ate at the Olive Garden mainly had fat and
sodium, with small amounts of fiber and vegetables. So a third of all my Calories that I can consume
would go towards a meal that provides no sources of major much needed nutrients. The hardest part of
nutrition for me, is allocating all the Calories that I can consume towards foods that give me the

Purpose Of The Disability Voting Rights
Purpose of the Disability Voting Rights Paper
This paper argues the disabled communities do not enjoy full voting rights to participate in the
political system. There are several political factors that explain why the concerns of the disabled
communities have largely been ignored or not adequately addressed. The Committee of Seventy is an
organization with strong political influence over the elections held every year in the City of
Philadelphia, PA. The organizational enjoys a great reputation among local politicians, CEOs, and
other socially affluent residents of the city. It is important to acknowledge the disabled communities
have limited voting rights. People with disabilities face stigma and discrimination that may discourage

Need for Strategic Change
The Committee of Seventy has successfully implemented a civic reform strategy in the City of
Philadelphia. The residents of Philadelphia desire equal voting rights. The gerrymander system
controls districts throughout the city. Both Republican and Democratic parties have acknowledged
gerrymandering strategies help them protect districts (Persily, 2007).
The gerrymander system is a primary strategic tool. The strategic planning can help address the
problems created by the gerrymander system that limit voting rights and result in controlled elections
(Byrson, 2010). The disabled communities are often invisible under the gerrymander system because
both political parties focus on race and age, and this is true in the City of Philadelphia as well. The
voter turnout tends to be low among the members of the disabled communities assuming other factors
including the demographics are constant (Schur et al., 2002). The Voting Rights Act Re authorization
in 2006 didn t help much as the voter turnout, whether measured by state or racial group, still declined
(Persily, 2007). The electronic Absentee Ballot forms also discourage political engagement by the
disabled communities. The use of strategic tools by both parties further limits the political
participation by the disabled communities. The research literature has identified several reasons why
people with disabilities may have trouble driving to the

Industrial/Organizational Psychology Mod 2 Critical Thinking
As former Director of Marketing for Monster.com, I am very familiar with the benefits and pitfalls of
high volume/high quality recruiting. If I were conducting the extensive recruitment that the Borgata
required, I would have done exactly the same thing and relied on outside expertise and technology to
attain recruitment goals. As John Schadler of Hotel and Motel Management states: Instead of the
traditional recruitment effort (the standard black and while, all text ad in Sunday s classified section),
hotels and resorts are using colorful full page ads in lifestyle magazines, witty dialogue in radio

The Borgata wisely chose to use an integrated solutions marketing and recruitment technology
company to assist them. Just prior to my being hired by Monster.com, Monster had experienced a
huge problem with a similar recruiting effort for the Transportation Security Administration and we
were still dealing with the aftermath. Rather than select Monster.com for help, Borgata chose a
company that offered similar services named PeopleSoft and achieved satisfactory results (Business
Wire, 2003.)
Many factors go into the recruiting and screening of a large volume of applicants, particularly within a
short time frame. While electronic media has certainly altered the landscape of recruiting, it would not
be efficient to broadcast across millions in order to obtain suitable candidates. Obviously it is most
cost and time effective to mine from applicants that already fit specific target demographics such as
physical proximity to workplace, background and skills, etc. PeopleSoft at that time was a software
driven company, but Monster.com as the largest database company in the world, had not only the
software but also the capacity to specifically target the most appropriate demographics in order to
enhance the quality of the recruitment by mining from their own

Critical Analysis Of Some Lessons From The Assembly Line
Has the author s goal changed with this analytical reading of the text? If so, how? If not, why not?
o As I reevaluate the article Some Lessons From the Assembly Line by Andrew Braaksma (2005), I
come to the same conclusions, and overall notes. I notice again, that transitions in life are never easy,
going from an assembly line, punching the clock, and then back to college life. I also took the feeling
that the Author s college life was quite lax in comparison to hit summer work life. Other points I came
across again was a lack of security within that field, not paying attention to repetitive tasks can cause
injury, and the value of an education. I can relate to the value to an education, as it allows you to get
into the door to vet one s abilities. Without education, experience can land you in the same position.
However, at the Author junction in life, many would not have the experience to be able to obtain
secure employment, and with that I felt lucky to have been able to have obtained the experience in the
service. With that, I value an education, and am now perusing that to achieve higher goals.
Additionally, I don t want to ever be in a dying field, that could disappear, or become outsourced.
2. Have you identified new key points that the author uses to try to achieve his or her goal in the
selected article? If so, include them here. If not, explain why the key points from your Writing Notes

The Venezuela Revolution In Venezuela
Did you know that Venezuela was one of the first colonies to gain their independence from Spain? At
the time Venezuela was a Spanish ruled colony and the people of Venezuela felt that their government
was ruling their colony terribly (Adelblue). The people were led by Simon Bolivar, whose nickname
was The Liberator since he liberated Venezuela and worked with San Martin to liberate most of
Northern South America (Adelblue). Venezuela declared their independence in 1810 and finally
gained their independence after the Battle of Carabobo in 1821 (Minster). Three symbolic elements of
the Venezuelan revolution are used to portray Simon Bolivar, the speech Simon gave to the Second
National Congress in 1819 to encourage the type of government he had in mind, and the high taxation
that was the main cause of the revolution (Ellis and Esler 705). In the monument to symbolize the
Simon Bolivar, we created a statue of him that is being built by the people of Venezuela that is a
representation of how Simon built and liberated the country of Venezuela (Adelblue). The statue is
being built by the people of Venezuela just as Simon built the country by freeing them and by
establishing a strong foundation (Adelblue). The body of the statue is green to symbolize growth of
the country and his pants are blue to symbolize independence. Simon was the commander of the
Venezuelan forces during the successful revolution against Spain (Martz and Heckler). Simon Bolivar

One Survivor Remembers Film Analysis
In the movie One Survivor Remembers narrated by Gerda Weissmann there are various scenes that are
very powerful. One of many scenes that I feel was the most powerful to me was when Geirda
explained to us how she left her mother. I m not that certain as how she told her story, but I remember
her saying it started with SS officers coming to her town and taking all the women in cattle cars. Since
Geirda was young they sent her with the other young girls of the town and separated her from her
mother since her mother was older of age. Her mother and her would then be separated from each
other and unfortunately never see each other again. She explains that when they grouped her up with
the younger girls in the town and she saw how her mother was sent with ... Show more content on

A SS officer had to grab her and take her off from her mother. The SS officer had told her that she was
too young to die and for that reason she could not go with her mother. This scene was the most
powerful and tragic to me because I myself could not bare being apart form my mother in such a time
like back then. I possibly could just not imagine my life without my mother. My mother is my all and
everything. For that reason I believe that particular scene felt so powerful specifically to me. This
scene could offer various lessons or messages, but the one I think is the biggest is to value and respect
your parents because you never know if you will see them the next day. The Nazis dehumanized Jews
in many ways. One of the ways Jews were dehumanized was by transporting them to places in
cramped cattle cars like if they were some type of animals. They were called animals and made less
of. An object was valued more than they were. The Nazis took all their rules and mortalities including

Why Is Child Labour Wrong
You may think that trouble with child labor laws is a thing of the past, but in fact these issues are
worse than ever. Even in America, a well developed country, these problems are still a struggle to
many American children and their families. American kids are not the only ones who have to go
through this. Child labor is active all around the world. These kids go off to their ten hour work day
while their family stands by and watches. What a shame that anyone would even hire them in the first
place. Children who are forced into the workforce come from any background. It is mainly an issue
for families who are lower income and the parents cannot support the family, so the kids get jobs.
About 168 million children worldwide (100 million boys and 68 million girls) are stuck in child labor.
This accounts for about 11% of the overall child population. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The obvious one is just general child labor. In America, the Fair Labor Standards Act was passed in
1938. These laws set up fair standards and said that child labor was unjust. Employers have found a
loophole that congress has not yet closed and they are using that as an excuse to use child labor. Child
labor also takes away the children s rights to safety and a good education. Hazardous work is most
common with adolescents in agriculture and industry. They are exposed to dangerous equipment and
in some cases even disease. Also, how can the child get a good education if they are working ten hours
a day? Especially considering a normal workday is eight

Comparing Nicholas I And Yertle The Turtle
Nicholas I can easily be compared to the story of Yertle the Turtle. Both Yertle and Nicholas have
similar qualities that can be exemplified. Nicholas I and Yertle are power hungry and in their very
different environments, show greed, a bit of arrogance, intolerance and corruption. Yertle the Turtle
began his life as a very happy little turtle. He was king of a nice clean pond , where everyone had
plenty of warm water and enough food to eat.. However, he decided this was not enough. Whether it
be greed or a need to command more power, he wanted to see more than just his one small pond. But I
don t see enough. (stanza 2, line 4) Yertle would do anything to see beyond his one small pond.
Similarly, Nicholas I wanted to control more under his reign in Russia. Both rulers were willing to do

turtles down on bottom. Nicholas I was similarly intolerant with his army. He was intent on acquiring

Deregulation of the airlines in 1978 forced the industry to rethink their business strategy in order to be
successful during a period of widespread operating losses due to an economic recession, striking air

Finally, we can see where overconfidence, risky decision making, failure to develop successors
created an eventual leadership crisis and led the company to ultimately file for bankruptcy protection.
My read of question one, part one is that Burton s leadership behavior was most certainly that of a
charismatic leader. He was a visionary, could effectively articulate his visions and exuded a
confidence and optimism that inspired and motivated his followers. He was willing to take personal
risks and make self sacrifices to attain the vision, at least initially. He used strong expressive forms of
communication when articulating the vision. With respect to his followers, he communicated high
expectations, expressed optimism and confidence in them and empowered them. Evidence of
charismatic leadership is provided by the leader follower relationship, and a charismatic leader has
profound and unusual effects on followers. This was certainly the case initially where the organization
provided, a better way for people to work together, thereby unleashing their creativity and improving
productivity.

your answer. The short answer is yes. However, in order to answer this question more completely we

Violent Video Games Benefits
In 2013, President Obama requested congress to allocate ten million dollars for the research of the
effects violent video games pose towards adolescents. Although many studies exist on the impact of
video games, few have focused on the benefits. News stations are so quick to spread information on
the negative effects that no one has taken into consideration that video games might have positive
effects. I believe that taking a balanced perspective is essential to discovering the truth, especially with
video games. While true that little research has been devoted to the benefits of video games, it is the
opposite for the functions of play. Erikson (1977) thought that children, by simulating different

This is especially true with shooter video games, such as Halo 4 and Grand Theft Auto IV. A 2012
study took naive gamers that rarely or never played shooter games, and randomly assigned them to
play either a shooter game or another type of video game. The gamers playing shooter games showed
faster and more accurate attention allocation, high spatial resolution in visual processing, and
enhanced mental rotation abilities. A meta analysis concluded that these spatial skills improvements
are comparable to formal (high school and university level) courses designed to improve these same
skills. This same meta analysis found that these spatial skills trained can be trained by video games in
a relatively short amount of time and last for an extended period of time. Of course, these skills
transfer to other spatial tasks outside of game. Preliminary research has also shown that these
cognitive advantages manifest in neural processing and efficiency. An fMRI study found that the areas
that control attention allocation were less active during a challenging pattern finding puzzle in gamers
than in non gamers, leading the researchers to believe that shooter game players are more efficient in
attention allocation and more effective at filtering out unneeded information. Cognitive neuroscientists
have begun to send requests to video game companies asking to develope games designed to test
hypotheses and the specific mechanisms that provide different cognitive benefits. In addition to spatial
skills, some scholars believe that videogames are important in developing problem solving skills. This
growth is shown between all genres. The game puzzles range from finding the quickest route from A

Biblical Models of Servant Leadership
CHAPTER TWO
THE NEED: BIBILICAL MODELS OF SERVANT LEADERSHIP
Introduction
There are basic attitudes which we see in the lives of those whom God called to servant leadership in
the Bible. These include a serving attitude where the leader sees his[1] primary responsibility to those
whom he leads as to serve and develop them to fulfill their God given mandate. The leader serves by
putting on a redeeming attitude, like Moses and Joshua. In other words he takes responsibility for
those he leads, recognizing needs and reaching out to meet those needs rather than positioning himself
for power and prestige. We see these virtues demonstrated by Jesus. His life was completely lived to
serve the course of the Father ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
God prepared Moses through a process and over time and so Moses had to learn to wait. Usually it is
while the leader waits that his mind and perspective is broadened, his life matures in relation to
knowing the One who enlists him, he is empowered to withstand the storms of leadership, and is
humbled to be able to submit to serve. Moses had to submit to God s way of preparing him for the task
of pioneering a leadership for a people that had gone through decades of pain and misery. Charles R.
Swindoll particularly referred to Moses desert experience as a means for his preparation for the long
lonely way of leadership that was ahead of him. He adds: some of the world s greatest leaders have
been people who lived lonely lives. In Moses long career as a leader he would be questioned, attacked,
accused, hated, and betrayed. Through it all, he would stand alone. [6] It took the desert experience of
preparation for him to stand alone. In the course of Moses preparation to leadership he had to learn
that God appoints and directs leaders as He wills, and that the leader has little to say in all that.
Swindoll again adds: Moses learned that lesson from failure ... more often than not, God s leadership
candidates are aghast at their selection. They look with chagrin at the assignment before them. They
can hardly believe their ears when God says, You are the man ; or you are the woman. [7]

According to Jan Willem van Prooijen, I propose that these psychological processes are characterized
by the joint influence of at least two complementary factors, namely subjective uncertainty, and a
social concern for others (Prooijen para 4). Later on he stated it was from a social hierarchy(actors,
media stars, and political leaders) in which we believe in. Based on Prooijens proposal I agree to a
point with the process. I first gained my knowledge of conspiracy theories from a well known

Essay On How To Flush Your Transmission
Time To Flush Your Transmission? 3 Signs To Look For
Everyone want their vehicle to be in good condition so that it is dependable when the are on the road.
With so many moving components, it is hard to know what trouble signs to look out for. One part that
you may be ignoring is the transmission, which actually needs the fluids to be flushed from time to
time. Here are some signs it is time to put in new transmission fluid.
The Fluid Changed Color
Chances are that you have never seen your transmission fluid. The fluid is typically a bright red color,
but it can also be yellow, blue, or green depending on who makes your fluid. What you want to watch
out for is if the fluid has changed in color. Dirty transmission fluid will have a brown tint ... Show

The gears should not be hesitating when switching between them, or slipping down into a lower gear
for a brief moment.
Dirty transmission fluid can cause various problems, such as there being a notable delay when
accelerating. The car could have problems when changing gears when you get on the freeway or when
you are accelerating quickly and the RPMs are quite high.
Ignoring these issues could cause damage to your vehicle s transmission. Avoid an expensive repair by
having the fluid flushed out at the first sign of any of these problems.
You ve Driven the Car A Lot
Much like the oil for your engine, transmission fluid also requires regular flushing based on how many
miles you have driven. Every car manufacturer will recommend changing the transmission fluid after
a specific amount of miles, which caries from vehicle to vehicle. It is common to replace transmission
fluid between 24,000 and 30,000 miles, and if you do not drive that many miles, then after 2 years.
Don t make the mistake of waiting until your transmission fails to have it looked at. Being aware of
these three problems will help keep your car running smoothly. If you ever have doubts about
something off your transmission is doing, do not hesitate to take your car to a local mechanic to have

Johannes Kepler s Accomplishments
Johannes Kepler was born on December 27, 1571in Weil der Stadt, Germany and died on November
15, 1630 in Resenburg, Germany due to his health. When Kepler was born in the late 16th century,
scientists believed that planets in the solar system traveled in circular orbits around the Earth. Kepler
came from a modest family in a small German town. He began university studies in 1598, where he
grasped ideas of Copernicus s works and tutored in its complex details by Maestlin. He experienced a
moment of illumination while teaching a small class, struck him that the spacing among the six
Copernican planets might be explained circumscribing and inscribing each orbit with one of the five
regular polyhedrons.
Kepler was a German astronomer, mathematician, astrologists and a natural philosopher who
discovered three major laws of planetary motion: the plantes move in elliptical orbits with the sun at
one focus, area law and harmonic law. The area law is time necessary to traverse any arc of a

A Report On Rheumatic Fever Awareness Campaign Of 2016
CAMPAIGN BACKGROUND
Rheumatic Fever Awareness Campaign of 2016 is a programme by New Zealand that continues to
promote awareness against sore throat caused by Group A Streptococcus which complicates to
rheumatic fever. It is known that Acute Rheumatic Fever (ARF) is serious yet a preventable illness.
The campaign is dedicated to reduce the incidence among children and aims to create national
consciousness on the importance of early prevention, treatment and the facts about rheumatic fever
that may possibly result to heart damage.
In New Zealand, ARF has been significantly increasing. It is alarming as ARF is considered an evident
indicator of child poverty and ill health (Sharpe, 2012). The cases of ARF doubled from 1.9 per 100
000 to 3.8 per 100 000 from 2005 to 2010 (Lowe, L., Miller, J., Sharpe, N., 2011).
It is vital that the problem with ARF be addressed as its rates have constantly failed to decrease and
thus remain as one of the highest reported third world diseases in a highly developed country such as
New Zealand (Masters, 2009). According to Dr. Coleman, Minister of Health, in his media statement
on ARF last May 1, 2016, he claimed that the campaign aims to decrease the cases of ARF by two
thirds by June 2017. Different intervention techniques were used to pursue the objectives of the
campaign such as school throat swabbing, health education, community exposure to lowly deprived
areas, media advertisements and promotions. Young children susceptible to ARF and

Louis Riel s Treatment Of The Insane Essay
I am born 1835 and am a physician and a superintendent from the Toronto Lunatic Asylum. I have had
10 years of the treatment of the insane. When I had encountered Riel, he imagined that he would go to
Saskatchewan and he would gather such a big force so that he would become the monarch of
Saskatchewan. I think that no sane man would think of such things. He had travelled between Ottawa
and The United States as well as knowing the powers of Britain. For him to think that he would be
able to train a successful army out of untrained Saskatchewan people as well as believing that he
would divide the country into seven divisions would not be normal with a man with this
understanding. He also is a Roman Catholic and among them, he went among endeavoring to
conciliate them to get them educated on the schemes that he had and says that he wants to dispose the
pope.

His father s death caused Louis excessive grief. My wife and I brought him from college to our home
to console him, but he was broken hearted, inconsolable. I saw that his profound grief affected his
mind which was manifested by the exaggerations of an eccentric religion; he threw himself into an
excess of piety and held religious views which I found unreasonable. My wife noticed it too and said
he became very melancholy . After that, I was told that Louis Riel had still remained solitary even
after a long time after his father had died. Riel had hallucinations as well as telling people that he

Marriage Is A Necessity Of Life
At one point or another we will all experience the euphoric highs and devastating lows of love. For
most of us, the spell of love will culminate into marriage. It only seems natural since it has been a
cultural norm for hundreds of years. There is even a scientific consensus that we are biologically
compelled to find another mate. However inherent love is to us, marriage is an abstract notion
conceptualized by human philosophy. It is humanity s effort to manifest the unification of two people
and to be recognized by society. Unfortunately, it seems that we have to rethink the validity of
marriage in the 21st century. Divorce plagues society today with the probability averaging out to fifty
percent in the United States. The consequences of divorce generally devastate whole families,
destroying financial life long accomplishments, and even spur us in deep states of depression
sometimes leading to suicide. However conflicting marriage is with modernity, to older generations
the institution of marriage is a necessity of life, but is not fair to men, and is often a disservice to our
youths. As humans we seek the happiness through companionship. For prior generations, one way this
was fulfilled was through marriage. It was a way of life in which an individual would share a
household with their spouse and often times with their offspring. These institutions would be
interdependent on one another for financial stability and emotional support. However, not every

Essay On The Cost Of College Education
The cost of college tuition is often seen as the drawback that causes high school graduates to choose
not to enroll into higher education. This is highly unfortunate because college education is worth the
cost. The cost may be unappealing, but there is assistance for the tuition fees, for example, financial
aid and student loans. It is worth the cost for high school graduates to go to college for the reasons that
it will allow for these young adults to gain an abiding profession that can support them for the rest of
their working lives after college, it will also provide them with greater salaries than one would have
with just a high school diploma, and ultimately it creates happy, knowledgeable, and healthy people.

Therefore, stopping at a high school diploma is not beneficial to anyone under this age. There is on
average seven years more of learning to do which is why college is provided as a higher education to
grow more knowledge. Ben Weider, wrote about how Peter Thiel, co founder of Pay Pal, would pay
24 winners of his Thiel Fellowship $100,000 not to attend college for two years and to develop
business ideas instead. However, the outcome was that he realized that this route would only be
beneficial to a small fraction of students, because their level of education was not as high as if they
were straight out of college (Source E). This entails that with a vaster education a person would be
more knowledgeable for certain criteria. In Source F, the survey shows that almost a half of the
surveyers believe the main purpose of college education was to teach work related skills and
knowledge, and 39 percent said it was to help a student grow intellectually. Now 74 percent said their
college education was very useful in helping them grow intellectually, and 69 percent said it helped
them grow and mature as a person. This goes to show that college can really help a person grow more
knowledge, so that by the time their frontal lobe is done growing they would have still been learning

The Code of Ethics defines the behavior standards with which physicians must comply. The AMA
Code of Ethics is designed as a concise document outlining the basic duties and responsibilities of
physicians. One of the major areas of strength of the AMA Code of Ethics is the principle that outlines
that the physician must regard responsibility to the patient as paramount (American Medical
Association, n.d., par. 9). This principle outlines that importance of putting the patient first in all care
aspects when working with a patient. Along with this, other principles set forth in the AMA Code of
Ethics, while involving other aspects of care, state that the rights of the patient shall be acknowledged
and followed during patient care. It is very important that healthcare codes of ethics are clear in
defining that the patient needs to be considered first and foremost. A weakness of the AMA Code of
Ethics is concise nature of the document. While concise can also be regarded as a strength, the concise
nature of this Code of Ethics is a disadvantage, as it does not allow for more clear definitions of the
ethical principles. For example, the principle stating that physicians shall support access to medical
care for everyone does not outline the ways in which physicians should do this or provide any
guidance. It seems as though more guidance could be provided with a more

Descriptive Essay On The Night In The City
We would walk through the city every night. It would not be an 80 degree night, no, more like a 68
degree night, where all you need is warm sweater to shelter your kidneys. No wind, no rain, just the
empty air. You and I and the empty air. As much as we adored hanging out during the shinning days,
we always favored the night. The night had more intimate and exclusive qualities. The night has a
misty glow that makes the world shine in a way that the sun fails to achieve. The night conceals itself
behind an unlit cloak and requires effort to unravel the true beauty underneath. That s how it feels
existing around you. It s similar to having an exhausting day and all that is anticipated is the night.
You can stroll to relaxation and contentment. You are my night. When we are together, I suppose, it is
only for the moon to see. We would walk through the city every night, specifically on the sidewalk
and the rhythmic clicks of my boots echoed throughout the entire block. My boots wanted to show
you off to the entire city. Each click lets everyone know that I am with you and no one else. Each click
lets everyone know that I am confident and delighted when I am around you. Each click lets everyone
know that I am not ashamed of who I am around you. However, your shoes would not make any noise.
They never do. We would walk through the city every night at the same pace. Side by side, left foot,
then right, then left, and then right again. We are in harmony, yet relish the silence.

What Are The Differences Between The World And Disneyland
Disney World vs. Disneyland
Many people wonder if there is much of a difference between Disney World and Disneyland.
Travelers have questions like, Which one is more worth going to or Which one is cheaper? Those who
have visited both parks may already know some distinct differences, but there are some things people
don t realize. While Disney World and Disneyland seem almost identical, their accommodations,
attractions, and size are surprisingly very different, which helps prove Disney World is the better
option when trying to really get the full experience.
The first major difference is attractions. While both parks may have some of the same titled rides, they
can be very different versions of each other. Suzanne Rowan Kelleher of tripsavvy.com states,
Since the Magic Kingdom was based on Disneyland, the two parks are very similar in layout and
share some but not all of the same attractions. Yet even when both parks offer the same ride, there are
frequently differences. For example, the Splash Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean attractions at
Disneyland are longer and considerably different to the Disney World versions.
This gives a clear example of how the rides have the same name but can vary greatly. While both
parks have attractions that the other doesn t, Disney world has many more unique attractions than
Disneyland.
The second major difference is size. It is commonly known that Disney World is much bigger than
Disneyland. After the first Disney park,

G quadruplex structures formed in telomeres and proto oncogene represent a potentially useful target
for anticancer drugs. Stabilization of this arrangement may inhibit the further action of different
enzymes involved in cancer cell immortalization. In present work structure based drug design and
synthesis was carried out on series of meso substituted porphyrin analogues. The interaction of
porphyrin derivatives with G quadruplex DNA has been explored by virtual screening procedure.
Some of the potential binding agents were then synthesized and evaluated in vitro by MTT and PCR

very good inhibitoryactivity in MCF 7 and A549 cell lines.

Individuality In Brave New World

Honors English IV Section 2
7 December 2015
The main conflict in Brave New World is individuality versus social stability. The notion of Brave
New World is that one must give up their individuality and fulfill their role in the society for the
greater good which is social stability. The totalitarian government in the novel controls every aspect of
the id, superego, and ego. Aldous Huxley distinguishes each of his characters from the other to portray
the different levels of individuality they display. Through the psychoanalytical perspective, it is
interpreted that the World State dominated the characters throughout the novel. However, Bernard and

Although this society is built with unity as stability, it lacks and deprives humans of their happiness
and freedom. All principles of humanity are disregarded and encountered by the Brave New World
society. The society created in Brave New World is everything Huxley did not want the world to
become. Bernard and John the Savage are a direct representation of Huxley. First of all, it is obvious
that Bernard does not fit into the society he lives in. Throughout the novel, Bernard is shown different
from the other Alphas. He possesses low self esteem because he is not able to engage with females as
easily as the other Alphas can, especially in a society where, everyone belongs to everyone else.
Bernard s alienation is a result of mockery from others and his self pity. His physical disabilities take a

Is Chivalry Still Alive Research Paper
How has social, economic, and political life in europe changed? Is the ideas of teen marriage, chivalry
,and courtly love still the same. How has these ideas changed over time? Is chivalry still alive, what is
the background on these ideas.
Is chivalry dead or has it changed? Many people think chivalry has died and no longer exist, this
however is not the case. To many chivalry may feel like it is dead but in the truth it is still alive in
simple gestures that we still use today. Many also say that the ideas of teen marriage are not what they
used to be is this true? They also say that the idea of courtly love is gone that nobody does these things
anymore.
In europe where the ideas started the king had all the power in the kingdom so he

The Energy Source Of Energy
In an era where fossil fuels are the dominant source of energy, environmentalists and scientists are
looking for alternative energy sources in the fear that fossil fuels will sooner or later become
consumed by our energy needs. In the hunt to find a strong alternative energy source, scientists have
reverted back to an old formula E=MC2. The indicated formula was first thought up by Albert
Einstein to describe a part of general relativity in the paper Does the Inertia of a Body Depend Upon
Its Energy Content? Furthermore, in his publication Albert Einstein explains that mass and kinetic
energy are proportionally equal. Meaning you can transfer energy into mass and vice versa. In
addition if you are able to transfer mass into energy that mass will be multiplied by the speed of light
(C) squared, meaning that a little mass can turn into a lot of energy. Moreover, Einstein s reasoning for
using the speed of light is because atoms when separated travel the speed of light thus carrying a lot of
energy. At the time Einstein was working on trying to find ways to separate and or fuse atoms in order
to gain energy and put his formula to use. However, today we have found two different ways of doing
so in what we call nuclear fusion and nuclear fission.
Nuclear fusion has been around since the big bang, as it is the process that powers stars just like ours
and is how our universe continues to grow. Moreover, nuclear fusion occurs when two or more atoms
fuse together at very high

Keep Blaming Canada Essay
Keep Blaming Canada
In 1999, Shawn Fanning and his little program called Napster created quite a stir in society. Napster s
software allows music listeners to open pieces of their personal hard drives to everyone using Napster,
sharing whatever MP3 songs they have already downloaded or stored. At any time, thousands of
people are online, sharing hundreds of thousands of songs, many of which are technically illegal to
download without the permission of the copyright holders. [1] This led to a lawsuit filed by the
Recording Industry Association of America, with the rock group Metallica as its frontman. In this
case, several issues were brought up, one of which was the right of the creator of the music to control
what happens with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the permission of people to make private copies of music for themselves. But realizing that
people would make copies for friends and family, the government decided to try and compensate the
artists. They added in a provision for the imposition of a levy on blank audio recording media. The
money from this tax would go to the artists and authors of the music.
But with the effects of Napster and pressures from recording artists and other organizations being felt,
Canada had to address the issue of peer to peer transfers of electronically stored music. On December
12, 2003, the Copyright Board of Canada decided that peer to peer uploading was illegal, but
downloading would remain legal. The peer to peer component of the decision was prompted by
questions from consumer and entertainment groups about ambiguous elements of Canadian law.
Previously, most analysts had said uploading was illegal but that downloading for personal use might
be allowed. As far as computer hard drives are concerned, we say that for the time being, it is still
legal, said Claude Majeau, secretary general of the Copyright Board. [3] The boards decision was
based on the interpretation of the fact that the country s copyright law does allow making a copy for
personal use, but does not address the source of that copy or whether the

  • 2. The Family Systems Theory During The Mid 20th Century Murray Bowen, an American psychiatrist, began developing what would become known as the family systems theory during the mid 20th century. He believed that the family was an emotional unit and that it could be best understood by looking not just at current family interactions but the interactions of prior generations as well (Helm, 2009). His focus was on using theory, not therapy, to treat the patient and the cornerstone of that theory is that human behavior is based on a person being able to maintain intimacy with loved ones while differentiating themselves sufficiently as individuals so as not to be swept up by what is transpiring within the family (p. 205). At both the Menninger Clinic and the National Institute of Mental Health, Bowen became interested in schizophrenia specifically in relation to the mother and child. He soon realized that he needed to focus on the entire family rather than just mother and child to provide a more accurate picture for his research. The Bowen Family Systems theory was born of this realization. The basic premise of the family systems theory is that the therapist cannot fully understand or successfully treat the client without first grasping how that individual functions within their family system. To this end, Bowen postulated eight interlocking concepts for the family as an emotional unit and they are differentiation of self, triangles, nuclear family emotional process, family projection process, emotional cutoff, multigenerational ... • 3. Comprehensive Sex Education Report All three of these sex educators also spoke to different elements that make the current high school sex education system damaging to its students. Ms. Corrado related: I think one of the big things is fear mongering around STIs. Which leads to higher incident rates instead of actually reducing incident rates, because fear will not actually stop them from doing it , but it just leads to people not knowing safer sex techniques and not knowing they are transmitting [STIs]. This supports the CDC report mentioned earlier, about the increasing number of students engaging in sexual activity and becoming infected with STIs, despite being in abstinence based programs. For Ms. Basler Francis the main issue was something else entirely: she believes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the SIECUS studies have shown, and from the information gathered from the Center for Sexual Pleasure and Health Study Sex College tour, students leave comprehensive sex education classes and workshops with more knowledge, better resources and with less shame about their desires. Despite my obvious biases towards comprehensive sex education I truly believe that the current system is creating the exact issues that pro abstinence groups are trying to prevent. Due to their use of shame and scare tactics, teens are avoiding communication with sexual/romantic partners, not turning to adults in times of need, unknowingly contracting STIs and infecting others and feeling all around ashamed of the sexual desires. This is a system that turns an eye away from preventative measures like birth control and condoms, as well as demonizes people who become pregnant and vilifies those who have abortions. But most importantly it makes people scared to explore what they want sexually, even more afraid to ask for what they desire and completely unable to respond to issues where their consent was given. These are all issues that can be avoided if children in kindergarten through twelfth grade were provided the information they needed to understand their bodies and more importantly how to use them, and take care of them. Our culture expects people to automatically know what to do, how to protect ourselves and be our own sexual advocates, but cringes at the idea of actually teaching those skills. It s the same with high school, it was there to give the kids something to do and give the other kids something to believe in. But, as time has progressed, college sports have taken a completely different path than high school. Now college sports have turned into huge money makers, and high school sports struggle to stay alive. Should college level sports continue as they are? I believe yes, even if it is a bit corrupt, it is beneficial to the school and could be changed. College sports do a lot to help out the University s budget. This is undeniable, where else would that TV and cheap knick knack money go? In a world where thirty percent of America s budgets go to defense, where as five percent goes to education, the teachers need a different way to get paid. Of course, they have those ridiculous student loans, but that s a different rant all together. All of that aside, it s hard to argue that college sports don t help the school. Additionally, Pharisees were the most respected religious group and political party of the Holy Land. The Pharisees were committed to the accurate interpretation of the [Jewish Scripture] and to scrupulous obedience to its commands...[and] they aspired to a [high] level of purity (Trebilco 4). After Paul s conversion to Christianity, it is clear that he regularly consulted and had extensive knowledge of both the Greek and Hebrew Old Testaments. Paul s ability to cite Old Testament passages in the Jewish native language displays his familiarity with their theological framework, creating a religious connection and proving himself to be a trustworthy source of information. In addition to applying his deeply rooted Jewish background to create kinship among the Jews, Paul was heavily influenced by his Greek surroundings, and his Hellenistic background fostered Paul s ability to deliver a new message to a new community, the Gentiles. Even though I can consume a lot of Calories, I still need to be aware of what I eat. One of my favorite restaurants is the Olive Garden, thus I am going to compare the caloric intake of a typical meal at the Olive Garden with my estimated caloric needs. A meal that I typically have is the chicken parmigiana, the chicken and gnocchi soup, and a raspberry lemonade. The chicken parmigiana has 1050 Calories, the chicken and gnocchi soup has 250 Calories, and a raspberry lemonade has 170 Calories; with a total of 1,470 Calories for the entire meal. This means that I would have 1,903 Calories leftover for my day. This is a lot of Calories leftover, but at the same time its not if the Calories I consumed were empty Calories, or if I ate out for my previous meals. Empty Calories add to the total amount of Calories without supplying the nutrients that I need. Undoubtedly Calories from restaurants add more to the empty Calories of my diet without supplying me with needed nutrients, than if I would just eat at home. The meal that I ate at the Olive Garden mainly had fat and sodium, with small amounts of fiber and vegetables. So a third of all my Calories that I can consume would go towards a meal that provides no sources of major much needed nutrients. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Need for Strategic Change The Committee of Seventy has successfully implemented a civic reform strategy in the City of Philadelphia. The residents of Philadelphia desire equal voting rights. The gerrymander system controls districts throughout the city. Both Republican and Democratic parties have acknowledged gerrymandering strategies help them protect districts (Persily, 2007). The gerrymander system is a primary strategic tool. The strategic planning can help address the problems created by the gerrymander system that limit voting rights and result in controlled elections (Byrson, 2010). The disabled communities are often invisible under the gerrymander system because both political parties focus on race and age, and this is true in the City of Philadelphia as well. The voter turnout tends to be low among the members of the disabled communities assuming other factors including the demographics are constant (Schur et al., 2002). The Voting Rights Act Re authorization in 2006 didn t help much as the voter turnout, whether measured by state or racial group, still declined (Persily, 2007). The electronic Absentee Ballot forms also discourage political engagement by the disabled communities. The use of strategic tools by both parties further limits the political participation by the disabled communities. If not, why not? o As I reevaluate the article Some Lessons From the Assembly Line by Andrew Braaksma (2005), I come to the same conclusions, and overall notes. I notice again, that transitions in life are never easy, going from an assembly line, punching the clock, and then back to college life. I also took the feeling that the Author s college life was quite lax in comparison to hit summer work life. Other points I came across again was a lack of security within that field, not paying attention to repetitive tasks can cause injury, and the value of an education. I can relate to the value to an education, as it allows you to get into the door to vet one s abilities. Without education, experience can land you in the same position. However, at the Author junction in life, many would not have the experience to be able to obtain secure employment, and with that I felt lucky to have been able to have obtained the experience in the service. This same meta analysis found that these spatial skills trained can be trained by video games in a relatively short amount of time and last for an extended period of time. The leader serves by putting on a redeeming attitude, like Moses and Joshua. It is vital that the problem with ARF be addressed as its rates have constantly failed to decrease and thus remain as one of the highest reported third world diseases in a highly developed country such as New Zealand (Masters, 2009). According to Dr. Coleman, Minister of Health, in his media statement on ARF last May 1, 2016, he claimed that the campaign aims to decrease the cases of ARF by two thirds by June 2017. Different intervention techniques were used to pursue the objectives of the campaign such as school throat swabbing, health education, community exposure to lowly deprived areas, media advertisements and promotions. When I had encountered Riel, he imagined that he would go to Saskatchewan and he would gather such a big force so that he would become the monarch of Saskatchewan. I think that no sane man would think of such things. He had travelled between Ottawa and The United States as well as knowing the powers of Britain. For him to think that he would be able to train a successful army out of untrained Saskatchewan people as well as believing that he would divide the country into seven divisions would not be normal with a man with this understanding. • 26. Marriage Is A Necessity Of Life At one point or another we will all experience the euphoric highs and devastating lows of love. For most of us, the spell of love will culminate into marriage. It only seems natural since it has been a cultural norm for hundreds of years. There is even a scientific consensus that we are biologically compelled to find another mate. However inherent love is to us, marriage is an abstract notion conceptualized by human philosophy. It is humanity s effort to manifest the unification of two people and to be recognized by society. Unfortunately, it seems that we have to rethink the validity of marriage in the 21st century. Divorce plagues society today with the probability averaging out to fifty percent in the United States. The consequences of divorce generally devastate whole families, destroying financial life long accomplishments, and even spur us in deep states of depression sometimes leading to suicide. However conflicting marriage is with modernity, to older generations the institution of marriage is a necessity of life, but is not fair to men, and is often a disservice to our youths. As humans we seek the happiness through companionship. For prior generations, one way this was fulfilled was through marriage. It was a way of life in which an individual would share a household with their spouse and often times with their offspring. These institutions would be interdependent on one another for financial stability and emotional support. However, not every marriage was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is highly unfortunate because college education is worth the cost. The cost may be unappealing, but there is assistance for the tuition fees, for example, financial aid and student loans. It is worth the cost for high school graduates to go to college for the reasons that it will allow for these young adults to gain an abiding profession that can support them for the rest of their working lives after college, it will also provide them with greater salaries than one would have with just a high school diploma, and ultimately it creates happy, knowledgeable, and healthy people. Ben Weider, wrote about how Peter Thiel, co founder of Pay Pal, would pay 24 winners of his Thiel Fellowship $100,000 not to attend college for two years and to develop business ideas instead. However, the outcome was that he realized that this route would only be beneficial to a small fraction of students, because their level of education was not as high as if they were straight out of college (Source E). This entails that with a vaster education a person would be more knowledgeable for certain criteria. In Source F, the survey shows that almost a half of the surveyers believe the main purpose of college education was to teach work related skills and knowledge, and 39 percent said it was to help a student grow intellectually. Now 74 percent said their college education was very useful in helping them grow intellectually, and 69 percent said it helped them grow and mature as a person. One of the major areas of strength of the AMA Code of Ethics is the principle that outlines that the physician must regard responsibility to the patient as paramount (American Medical Association, n.d., par. 9). This principle outlines that importance of putting the patient first in all care aspects when working with a patient. Along with this, other principles set forth in the AMA Code of Ethics, while involving other aspects of care, state that the rights of the patient shall be acknowledged and followed during patient care. It is very important that healthcare codes of ethics are clear in defining that the patient needs to be considered first and foremost. A weakness of the AMA Code of Ethics is concise nature of the document. While concise can also be regarded as a strength, the concise nature of this Code of Ethics is a disadvantage, as it does not allow for more clear definitions of the ethical principles. The Energy Source Of Energy In an era where fossil fuels are the dominant source of energy, environmentalists and scientists are looking for alternative energy sources in the fear that fossil fuels will sooner or later become consumed by our energy needs. In the hunt to find a strong alternative energy source, scientists have reverted back to an old formula E=MC2. The indicated formula was first thought up by Albert Einstein to describe a part of general relativity in the paper Does the Inertia of a Body Depend Upon Its Energy Content? Furthermore, in his publication Albert Einstein explains that mass and kinetic energy are proportionally equal. Meaning you can transfer energy into mass and vice versa. In addition if you are able to transfer mass into energy that mass will be multiplied by the speed of light (C) squared, meaning that a little mass can turn into a lot of energy. Moreover, Einstein s reasoning for using the speed of light is because atoms when separated travel the speed of light thus carrying a lot of energy. At the time Einstein was working on trying to find ways to separate and or fuse atoms in order to gain energy and put his formula to use. However, today we have found two different ways of doing so in what we call nuclear fusion and nuclear fission. Nuclear fusion has been around since the big bang, as it is the process that powers stars just like ours and is how our universe continues to grow.
