3 John Reflection
Many scholars believe that because 3 John is the shortest book in the New Testament it is the
void of any doctrinal content. The paper sets out to argue that 3 John is deeply doctrinal but it is
embedded within the author s view of the character of God and his plan for the world. I must
confess that as I read 3 John I did not grasp the message. It was only after reading the article a few
times I was able to comprehend the 3 John. The article explains that in order to understand this
letter we must dig deep into the background, and find the author s intentions and the reaction he
expect from the recipient. 3 John seems to a reply to a previous letter, which we no access to.In
letter the Elder commends Gaius for supporting the missionaries who have arrived, even at the cost
of his excommunication. The elder speaks of Diotrephes who has rejected his authority and placed
himself leader, refusing to help missionaries, and threatening anyone who supports them. Although
this letter was not thought to offer much deep theological reflections, Lieu found that it cast a
light on the early patterns of ministry. It was by using a socio narrative analysis, and rearranging
the letter,we were able to grasp the big picture. When were introduced to John Searle s speech act
theory we saw how communication carries a force that affects and changes the receiver s
behavior. The idea being that by reading 3 John and looking closely at the events surrounding the
story we are able to get a clearer

Neil Degrasse Tyson Episode
For my entertaining biology article, I chose to review an episode of Cosmos: A Spacetime
Odyssey called Some of the Things That Molecules Do which is a documentary television series
and follow up to the 1980 series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage. This series was brought back as a
revitalization of space in the public eye. The main principle behind this series was to bring space
back to the forefront of our curiosity as Americans. Neil deGrasse Tyson does an amazing job
presenting fairly complex concepts in a way that would capture the attention of anyone watching
and give them knew knowledge on difficult concepts that they can share with others. In this

Significance Of Trinidad And Tobago Carnival
Question: Examine the economic, social and cultural significance of the Trinidad and Tobago
Carnival (20th century to present) Trinidad and Tobago s carnival is an annual celebration that is
held on the Monday and Tuesday before the Lent season of fasting , which is celebrated by the
Roman Catholic religion. The carnivalfestival of Trinidad and Tobagobegun in the late 18th
century, when the French plantation owners , held organised masquerades balls, before the fasting
of Lent. The Africian slaves and coloureds were not allowed to participate in these celebrations.
In turn they formed their own celebration in which they called Canboulary . During the
celebrations of the Masquerades Balls, the Africian slaves and coloured had some opportunity to
be engaged and enjoy themselves. When these slaves were emancipated in the year 1838, the door
was fully opened for the Africians to participate in their own carnival celebrations. They then took
over carnival and embraced it as an expression of their freedom. They celebrated this festival with
calypso music, soca music, costumes, stick fighting and limbo. The elements of carnival were
developed from the Africian slaves. Calypso music was created in Trinidad during the 17th century
by these slaves that were imported to the Caribbean island to work on sugar... Show more content

Show How Discipline and Obedience Are Linked to the...
In order to explain the relationship between discipline and obedience from a Montessori
perspective, it would be useful define and compare the more common explanations of these terms
with the interpretations of Maria Montessori. The development of the child within the Montessori
setting and in particular the maturational development of discipline, obedience and the will shall
then be discussed. In so doing, a very close and almost symbiotic relationship between all three will
become apparent.
Discipline is commonly thought of as something that is done to a child in order to achieve
obedience. It is seen as a form of control that implies a denial of freedom. According to

Montessori called this the first stage of obedience (Montessori, 2007a).
At around the age of 2 ВЅ to 3 however, consciousness emerges and all that has been stored up in
the Mneme, together with new information, begins to come into the conscious mind, transforming
into memory and reason. The child has is now entering the second phase of the Absorbent Mind,
known as the Social Embryonic stage (Montessori, 2007a). Montessori (1963) describes the child
as unbalanced and having certain deviations (lack of control or discipline resulting in possible
aggression or passivity). Importantly, with respect to discipline and obedience, it is when the
horme and egocentricity begin to wane and the child becomes more aware of others and their
needs. It is at this stage that the child enters the Nursery.
Through her observations, Montessori held that a child will pass through several sensitive periods
during the Absorbent Mind, where he/she has an intrinsic sensibility to acquiring particular skills
beneficial to his/her development (Montessori, 2007a). He/she is drawn to particular activities
that will match the particular sensitivity such as a sensitivity to order or small objects for
example. It is for these reasons that Montessori saw the need to develop an environment that
would enable every possibility for the child to fulfill all of these needs and that failure to do so
could result in physical, social and mental instability. The more the young are placed in

Difference Between Christianity And Lucretius
Lucretius was a Roman poet and philosopher who wrote De rerum natura (On the Nature
of Things), an epic poem widely regarded as one of the most influential works in history of
literature, and science. In addition to his doctrinal and scientific impact, Lucretius exerted a
profounded influence on countless later philosophers and scientists. Very little is known about the
life of Lucretius. He was born in 99 BC, according to most accounts. Jerome a prominent Roman
clergyman, wrote that love potion had driven him insane. After writing some highly influential
books in lucid intervals, Lucretius eventually committed suicide. (1)

(2) If it gives you great pleasure to call the sea
Neptune or to refer to grain and wine as Ceres and Bacchus, Lucretius wrote, you should feel free
to do so, just as you can dub the world round the Mother of the Gods. And if drawn by there
solemn beauty, you choose to visit religious shrines, you will be doing yourself no harm, provided
that you contemplate the images of the gods in peace and tranquility. But you should not think
for a minute that you can either anger or propitiate any of these deities. The processions, the
animal sacrifices, the frenzied dances, the drums and cymbals and pipes, the showers of snowy
rose petals, the eunuch priests, the carved images of the infant god: all of these cultic practices,
through compelling and impressive in their way, are fundamentally meaningless, since gods they
meant to reach are entirely removed and separated from our world. (2).
It is possible to argue that, despite his profession of religious belief, Lucretius was some
sort of atheist, particularly a sly one perhaps, since to almost believers of almost all religious

Prevention And Intervention Strategies For Vietnam Veterans
Reserve and National Guard members, who report combat exposure, were more likely to
experience new onset heavy drinking, binge drinking, and alcohol related problems, thereby
greatly increasing their risk for suicidal behaviors (Frueh Smith, 2012). McCarl (2013) states that
redeployment and multiple deployments can further compound a service member s already fragile
state of mind if sent back into combat without fully recovering from the physical and mental
wounds of the previous deployment (p. 410). Veterans who have reported killing in war had twice
the odds of suicidal ideation (Maguen et al, 2015). In a study performed with Vietnam veterans,
sixteen of nineteen suicideattempters (82%) had felt out of control as a result of excessive fear or
rage during their tours of duty, including situations in which their anger led to their killing
noncombatant civilians (Hendin, 2014, p. 584).
Prevention and Intervention Strategies Suicide among veterans is a national concern and suicide
prevention is a priority for the VHA. In concern for the health and well being of military service

I Attended Western Kentucky University s Symphony Concert
I attended Western Kentucky University s symphony concert. It was on Friday, October 30th at
7:30pm. It was held in Van Meter Hall. Their event was named It s time for a treat. The
symphony was conducted by Dr. Brain St. John. Before it began, I read over the program that was
handed out to find out basic information. The history of the pieces helped in understanding them.
The concert featured many well known works by famous composers such as Camille Saint Saens,
Modest Mussorgsky, and Berlioz. The three pieces that are the most memorable in my mind are
Overture to La Cenerentola , LГ ci darem la mano , and March to the Scaffold from Symphonie
Fantastique. Beginning with the first piece called Overture to La Cenerentola composed by
Gioachino Rossiniin 1817. It was part of the Rossini s version of the opera, Cinderella. An overture
is used to capture the audience s attention. It informs the audience the concert is about to begin.
This piece is still a good selection for an overture. The contrasting soft and loud pitches made a
good way to get the audience s attention. Also the brass section became a vital piece towards the
end with the intense The increasing and decreasing tempo seemed like a good warning that the
main event was about to begin. I really enjoyed this music. I felt like it was light because of how
the strings and woodwinds interacted. This helped the mood in the room go from somber to upbeat.

Men face many health risks as they age. It is important for men to have regular check ups with their
primary care physician. One area men should pay close attention to is the prostate. The prostate is a
male reproductive gland that produces the fluid that carries sperm during ejaculation. It surrounds
the urethra, the tube through which urine passes out of the body. As men age, past the age of fifty,
it is common for the prostate to become enlarged, a condition known as BPH. BPH stands for

These treatments are used when the physician does not feel that conventional surgery is yet
needed. These treatments use different forms of heat to destroy prostate tissue, including:
radiofrequency energy transurethral needle ablation (TUNA), microwave energy transurethral
microwave thermotherapy (TUMT), electrical current transurethral electrovaporization (TUVP),
hot water water induced thermotherapy (WIT) and laser interstitial laser coagulation (ILC) and
holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP). Surgery may be recommended if you have
incontinence, recurrent blood in the urine, urinary retention, recurrent UTI s, kidney failure or
bladder stones. There are a few surgical options for BPH. The type of procedure is usually based
on the severity of your symptoms and the size and shape of your prostate gland. The first
procedure is called a transurethral resection of the prostate also known as TURP. This is the
most common and most proven treatment for BPH. A TURP is performed by inserting a scope
through the penis and removing the prostate piece by piece. The next surgical option is known as
transurethral incision of the prostate also known as TUIP. The procedure is similar to a TURP,
but is usually performed to men who have a smaller prostate. This procedure does not usually
require a hospital stay. Similar to a TURP, a scope is inserted through the penis until the prostate is
reached. Then a small incision is

Psychological Theories Of Assault
Assault is a violent crime that requires offensive touching, hitting, or frightening the victim by
word or deed. Assault crime can be upgraded to a felony when weapons are involved or abusing a
victim during the commission of a felony. Although assault can happen during crimes like robbery
and homicide, abuse happen mostly within a family or relationship (for example child abuse,
parental abuse, dating violence).
Psychological theory explains why a person will have a abuser behavior.. When looking at

What Is Wendy Kop s Senior Thesis
More than 16 million children grow up in poverty. One in three of those kids will not graduate
high school. From the kids who do graduate 18% won t be able to attend four years of college.
Knowing those statistics and how they affected children all around the U.S. Wendy Kopp
wanted to change those statistics. Wendy Kopp was born in Austin, Texas on June 29th, 1867.
Wendy Kopp believed that it was the responsibility of everyone to stop children from being
uneducated. As Wendy grew up she felt that since she was a woman there would be limits but as
the years passed by she learned she wasn t limited. She attended Princeton as a public policy
major and was involved in many activities. She met a variety of people during her college years
and learned more about students who come from poor communities and found that they have lower
academic achievement because they were less prepared for the challenges ahead.
Wendy eventually used this same idea in her senior thesis. So, for her senior thesis she proposed
that they should assign graduates from the nation s top universities to teach in disadvantaged
communities. Wendy used her senior thesis to move to an office space in New York and gather
teacher corps. Gathering enough support, Wendy eventually grew her organization and called it

Chemical Weathering Lab Report

Chemical Weathering
Background Information
Chemical weathering occurs when the erosion of rocks and the disintegration of rocks are caused
by chemical reactions with water and substances dissolved in it. This can occur in places where
rainfall is common, it occurs more rapidly at higher temperatures. Since high temperatures and
damp areas cause the chemical weathering process to increase, you can infer that chemical
weathering occurs more frequently in the spring.
There are different types of chemical weathering, the three big ones being solution, hydrolysis,
and oxidation. Solution weathering occurs when sulphuric acid in the air mixes with rainwater
turning it into acid rain. This is most common in highly polluted areas such as China which is a
very big country with a lot of cities and rural manufacturing plants. Acidic rain can remove
/damage rocks, limestone is especially vulnerable to weathering by rain water containing CO2.
The next type, hydrolysis weathering, breaks down rocks by acidic water to produce clay and a
soluble salt. The only rock not affected by hydrolysis is quartz. Finally the last type of weathering
is the breakdown of rocks by oxygen and water called oxidation, which makes rocks less resistant ...

Classroom Management Reflection
Classroom management is an essential skill that is required of all teachers who wish to be
effective teachers. To have good classroom management, teachers need three skills: self efficacy,
classroom experience, and a passion for teaching. Two of these concepts go hand in hand. If a
teacher is passionate about their profession, they will have a strong sense of self efficacy. Wolff,
Jarodzka, and Boshuizen (2017) state that learning to manage a classroom and teach effectively
is complicated, and the majority of the knowledge and skill development required for effective
teaching takes place within the classroom itself (p. 295). This means that not all teachers start at
the same level. There will always be room for improvement, and teachers will continue to grow
and get better as time goes on. There are many different factors that play into good classroom
management, but by far the main three needed are self efficacy, classroom experience and
passion. When the course first began, I assumed that the concept of classroom management
would be fairly straightforward. To the untrained eye, individuals are either good or bad
teachers. If a classroom is filled with chaos, then that instructor is a bad teacher. By this logic, an
individual who handles a room full of students effortlessly is a good teacher. However, it is only
now as we near the end of the course that I realize that things are not that simple. All teachers,
whether good or bad, are capable of having good

But as Kofi Annan reported on March 18, 2002, it will take more than a quick fix to repair the
years of trauma and war that have wrecked this extremely poor country.
In recent years, the UN has been entrusted with providing assistance to several countries in post

experiences of the United Nations in East Timor have shown that the reestablishment, at a
minimum, of basic judicial functions must be among a mission s top priorities from the earliest

apply the lessons learned in the violence wrought country on the current situation at Afghanistan to

Advantages Of Reflexive Standardization Of The Information...
According to Ole Hanseth et al (2010), reflexive standardization is the process of supporting
efforts to bring about order and organization in a function, and instead of achieving positive
results, negative results are achieved. Reflexive standardization brings about negative results as a
result of failing to be planned adequately from the onset. For instance, take for example the
Norwegian hospital; the development of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) was developed as a
fragmented record of databases. The records brought about challenges in the manner in which they
were accessed and as a result, there was need to redesign the system. Instead of setting aside a
development team to redesign the system based on thorough research, the hospital decided to
centralize the database and create several views for different system users to view these records.
This was deemed to be the reflexive standardization of the information system. It had both
advantages and disadvantages as discussed.
Necessity and Advantages

case, the systems present seemed to hinder the proper functioning of the hospital to its optimal
potential. It did not do much to increase service delivery thus came off as a hindrance to the
success of the hospital s functions. The system was also deemed by Ole Hanseth (2010) as a
complex system. The word complex is defined with respect to the ability of the new practitioners to
understand the use of the system. By being complex, the system fails in its quest to become a better
solution as opposed to traditional record keeping

Thomas Paine Contributions
Thomas Paine was alive during the 18th century and was a very influential writer of essays and
pamphlets. Some of his best known ones were The Age of Reason, which regards the place of
religion in society. Also Rights of Man, which defends the French Revolution. Finally the one he is
best known for Common Sense, which he published during the American Revolution. This book was
definitely Paine s most influential piece which turned public opinion to the view that independence
from England was needed. Thomas Painewas born on January 29, 1737. He had a Quaker father
and an Anglican mother. Paine had little formal education however was taught how to read,
write, and perform arithmetic. When Paine was thirteen he began to work with his father as a
stay maker which was the thick rope stays used on sailing ships. Later, he worked as an excise
officer. However he was not good at this, or any other early job. To add on to his hardships, around
1760, his wife and child both died in childbirth. Also his stay making business went under. His first
political work was The Case of the Officers of Excise, which was a 21 page article in defense of
higher pay for excise officers. In the winter of 1772 he handed out 4,000 copies of the work to
members of Parliament and other citizens. Paine was fired from the excise office in spring of
1774, and he began to see his outlook as barren. However he soon met Benjamin Franklin, who told

WORLDCOM headquarter in Virginia, USA.
WORLDCOM S ACCOUNTING SCANDAL
WorldCom, established in 1983, whose CEO was Bernard Ebbers, was the second largest long
distance phone company in the US after AT T. It could be seen as a pride of America until it got
into one of the biggest accounting scandals in the American history which finally led to its
bankruptcy in 2002. On July 21st, 2012, WorldCom filed for bankruptcy, which was worth 103.9
billion USD and became the largest filing at its time. Its CEO, Bernard ... Show more content on

There would be no effect on current net income as increasing in Equipment means increasing in
depreciation expense. Instead of being spent in the current year only, the cost is spread over many
years. At the moment, you may have the general image of the tactics that WorldCom used to cook
their books.
WorldCom announced $3.8 billion in improperly booked expenses for 2001 and 2002, and an
additional $3.3 billion in accounting errors. Moreover, WorldCom officially filed for bankruptcy
when found an accounting fraud with the amount up to $11 billion. So how did it happen? As
having mentioned, WorldCom s CEO Bernard Ebbers was convicted of being guilty for the stock
and accounting fraud, so it was obvious that the fraud occur from the management level of the
company. WorldCom s major operating expense was called line costs, which means cost paid to
lease other telephone operators network, phone lines and so on. In short, just remember that line
costs are its main operational expense. In 2000, WorldCom was actually not doing a good business,
and they somehow tried to cover the current reality by performing some magic with their
accounting stuff, and here is the thing: WorldCom was managing to cover the truth behind its
business, so according to his indictment, Mr. Scott Sullivan former CFO tried to move around the

Being Kin Is Not Everything Essay
In this class I did not expect to become so intrigued about early life and the growth of how early
hominids developed. I thought that I was taught most of how we early humans developed and
came to be. Realizing that I did not I looked deeper into the study of different types of monkeys,
apes, and gorillas, especially the study Dian Fossey did on Titus. With this study it began to
separate how us humans and primates use altruistic behaviors. Figuring out the different motives
humans and primates had and how they came to interact between there communities I began to see
we have behaviors that are similar. Although altruistic behaviors has to do with relatives and their

His experience showed that he never had that relationship with a mother and father figure making

have that normal childhood. He had to grow up and learn survival instincts naturally without

along with each other for a couple of years they really grew close especially Titus and one other
male silverback, Beetsme. Titus gaining relationships and friendships with this time being really

of the males felt like they had companions and did not even worry about females. This long term
female less group allowed them to take in others, like other males, to stay and form these long

females began wondering in search of males is when the male group began to dwindle and
compete for the leadership role. Beetsme being the full grown silverback he gained complete

Staff Training Research Paper
Personnel Shortages
The need for highly trained intelligence personnel has never been more important. A personnel
shortage at the Intelligence Training Branch has a negative impact on the Coast Guard. The effects
of this shortage are resulting in signs of burn out within the staff, the graduates are not receiving the
highest quality of training, and the instructor billets are becoming harder to fill. From a chief s
perspective staff burn out is a high priority issue. With the exception of the School Chiefs and
Deputy School Chief all instructions for both A and C School come from the same central pool.
IS A School is the only school on site designed this way. We are billeted for six petty officers.
However, we currently only have two. That leaves two chiefs and two petty officers to complete
81 training weeks per year. Some of these trainings are road shows and require two people to
travel. In addition to the regular work schedule, the chief s must be duty IS and OOD qualified. The
petty officers must be duty IS qualified. This is currently putting us in a one and four rotation for
duty IS. Unfortunately, this leaves minimal time for leave resulting in staff burn out. Due to the
demands of the training and duty schedule the curriculum is suffering. We are in a state of

South Afric An Evaluation Of The Status Of Our...
130,000 years of palaeoenvironmental and palaeoclimatic change in East Africa: An evaluation of
the status of our understanding
Over the last two decades, there has been intensive work undertaken to understand African
palaeoclimates, in order to put together a more coherent picture of how the environment and climate
have varied in the past. East Africa is of particular interest with the debates surrounding the out
of Africa migrations of anatomically modern humans (e.g. Appenzellar, 2012; Armitage et al,
2011; Balter, 2011; Cruciani et al, 2011). It is still premature for any grand synthesis of the
region s climatic past when the patchiness of the palaeoclimatic and palaeoenvironmental records
are acknowledged, and in light of the complexity of the climate forcing mechanisms across this
region (Berke et al, 2014). The warning causation, correlation or coincidence still very much
applies to all exercises in explanation and more regional scale work is certainly necessary
(McIntosh et al. 2015). This essay initially takes the lens of human evolution to evaluate the status
of our understanding of the palaeoenvironmental and palaeoclimatic change during the critical Out
of Africa migration periods. This is followed by an in depth review of the palynological record in
East Africa and associated records. This evaluation focuses on the last 130 kya, the upper boundary
of which, marks the start of the Eemian interglacial. This coincides with the date determined by

Competitive Interactions between Apis and Bombus Essay
The invasive European honeybees create a competitive environment for the native bumblebee as
their ecological niches (species total use of abiotic and biotic resources) overlap; thus, creating a
niche differentiation (the increase in species using resources causes a wider range of resources
being used) between the two species. The invasive and native bees exemplify a symbiotic
relationship in which interaction could possibly be detrimental to both species competition (an
interaction in which species use the same resources). Moreover, the invasive European honeybee
(Apis mellifera) decreases the population of the native bumblebee(Bombus occidentalis) in northern
California by creating a niche overlap and competition for available... Show more content on

Although it is difficult to directly exemplify the impact of invasive European honeybees on
native bumblebees through floral resources, many studies prove there is an indirect relationship
between the species concerning overlapping of their ecological niche (Thomson 2004). Diane
Thomson conducted an experiment measuring the impacts of the invasive honeybee on the
native bumblebee through competition for nectar and pollen resources. Each summer from
1998 through 2000, two to three Apis colonies (each consisting of 10,000 15,000 workers) were
introduced into three sites from early June to early September (Thomson 2004). Each Apis
colony was placed 2 km apart. For the native bumblebees, B. occidentalis colonies were located
at 10 m, 500 m, and 1000 m away from each site. Since there are three distances, and three
different sites, there were nine B. occidentalis colonies in total. The B. occidentalis species was
placed in the same location every year; however, the distance treatment was altered (Thomson
2004). To reduce the factors that may alter the results, laboratory reared colonies were used to
minimize any differences in the Bombus colonies and weighed to keep the amount consistent
(Thomson 2004). Overall, Thomson s experiment exemplified the direct effects of the invasive Apis
species on reproductive success and foraging activity of the native Bombus.
Observations showed Apis foragers declined with distances in flower patches (Thomson 2004).

The Shame Of A Shame Based Culture
Brene Brown said this, We judge people in areas where we re vulnerable to shame, especially
picking folks who are doing worse than we re doing. If I feel good about my parenting, I have no
interest in judging other people s choices. If I feel good about my body, I don t go around
making fun of other people s weight or appearance. We re hard on each other because we re using
each other as a launching pad out of our own perceived deficiency.
I love the power in this quote of comparing how we love and accept people when we are
unashamed, versus when we are ashamed and feeling unworthy. The problem with living in a shame
based culture is it becomes increasingly normal, and therefore how shame affects our identity has
gone unrecognized and undefined in most of our lives. This is how Brene explains shame, Shame
is the intensely painful feeling or experience of believing we are flawed and therefore unworthy of
acceptance and belonging. Women often experience shame when they are entangled in a web of
layered, conflicting and competing social community expectations. Shame leaves women feeling
trapped, powerless and isolated.
We are not alone in feeling unworthy. Shame causes us to feel unlovable and damaged, yet Christ
is in the business of restoring dignity back to the human soul. You are not shaped by shame, you
are defined by God. A Christ based identity gives us the grace to like ourselves. Moreover, the
grace of our God given identity helps us not to despise or loathe our

Cystic Fibroblasts
Fibroblasts are mesenchymal cells that play an important role in the wound healing process. These
cells are responsible for releasing inflammatory agents that recruit white blood cells to areas of
damaged tissue. Fibroblasts also respond to these chemicals and differentiate into myofibroblasts.
These myofibroblasts are characterized by their up regulated rate of extracellular matrixcomponent
production and their ability to physically manipulate the extracellular matrix. When the wound
healingprocess becomes unregulated, this results in what is referred to as a fibrotic response
(Kendall). As a result fibrosis, or the thickening and scarring of connective tissues, occurs. Fibrosis

The first experiment we ran was the О± smooth muscle actin (asma) stain. The purpose of this
stain was to use a primary and secondary antibody to indirectly stain the microfilaments that
characterize myofibroblasts. Under a fluorescent microscope, this will provide a visual
representation of how many fibroblasts in our samples had differentiated into myofibroblasts. To
set up for this experiment, fibroblasts were plated on coverslips and incubated for seven days, to

coverslips were fixed with methanol and the first antibody, a mouse anti human asma, was

Observational Learning Experience
If I were to have a five year old nephew and I were to have to teach him something I would mostly
likely use a combination of reinforcers and observational learning. Both positive and negative
punishment would be implemented in the teaching process, as well as the observational part so that
they all compliment each other. Most likely I would begin to teach him to play baseballand
basketball since most, including myself, start around that age. Although, I would not be as hard on

Again I was always taught in more of a punishment type approach and again it worked for me, but
I believe it depends on the kid that is being taught and how they handle it. The same goes for
basketball as it did baseball, I would teach him the concept and objective of the game. When a
kid this age is being taught it is all really observational, because they look to you for guidance
and on how to do everything properly. They literally try to copy everything you do. When it
comes to basketball once he has the concept down and I have taught him how to do everything
correctly, I would take more of punishment route. For example, if he keeps missing lay ups, I
would make him make fifty before he could move on to anything else. If he has trouble dribbling,
then I would make him do dribbling drills until he has started to improve. The same goes for
baseball too. Punishment in a form that improves his game by making him to the same thing over
and over again until he gets better. My punishment in both sports was that I would always have to
run if I messed up repeatedly. That only makes you want to do better, which makes you better in
the long run, but making him repeat what he needs to improve has more of a direct correlation in
helping his weak aspects of the

Why did women face barriers in their education and...
Throughout history, the role of women has often carried a prejudice which has been embedded
within society politically, socially and financially across the world. Although arguably one of the
most liberal countries constitutionally, such chauvinism has indeed occurred within Britain,
particularly during the Victorian Era. This restricted participation for women can be exemplified
clearly in two main areas; education and politics. With universal compulsory education in Britain
only being constitutionally enforced with the 1870 Education Act1, women had little opportunity to
gain any form of coherent education in the early 19 th century; tuition was largely confined to the
upper class, and even then, through instruction of private... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

involvement in the Chartist movement. Throughout the movement, thousands of women joined

Lascia Ch Io Pianga Analysis Essay
The analysis of the aria Lascia ch io pianga by Haendel according to the thorough bass method,
shows us how the composer refer in this piece to the typical compositional procedures of
baroque music. The aria starts with a pedal (frame, according to Joel Lester s terminology)
followed by a cadence harmonized according the regle de l octave both in ascending and
descending motion (MM. 5 8). The second episode starting at M. 8 consists of a sequence, precisely
a modified sequence, in which the subsequent is slightly modified at the end introducing a new
harmonyon the second beat of M. 12 that leads to a final cadence with a modulation to the original
key. The regle is always working also in the sequence, it is just applied... Show more content on

In Lascia ch io pianga is possible to understand all the harmonies as fifths and sevenths but the
bass line motion not always moves naturally by fifths and fourths. In many cases, through the use
of the double emploi, is has been possible to correct some irregular motions into fifth motion, but
still for some of them it hasn t been possible. Probably the most evident example is the motion by
second occurring between MM. 6 and 7, and between MM. 11 and 12. The fundamental bass
analysis bring into play notes that are supposed, that are not in the score but affect the music as the
roots of a tree feed the last leaf on the highest branch. In this case, we can see how the sense of
motion that we perceive listening to this aria is perfectly explained and justified by the succession
of seventh chord and fifth chord, as the epitome of the arsi tesi feeling in music.
Even in the first two measures, that look really simple in the thorough bass analysis, we can still
discover something that makes this beginning not so obvious. In the first measure the F is
transformed into D with a seventh chord on top, and the accumulation of this seventh with the next
one in the second measure create a sense of instability and a need to resolve. In the next measures
this tension will be released through a succession of 5 chord with two final combinations 7 5 to

Many of Rick Perry s decisions assert his support of the 10th amendment, but perhaps the most
monumental indicator may be his book, Fed Up! in which he accuses the federal system of being a
tyrannical government that takes too much power from the states and stresses repetitively that the
states matter more. In his preface, he emphasizes, I believe that states are critical components of our
federal system of government, that the Founders recognized their importance, and that empowering
the states is the best way to ensure our God given right to live according to the dictates of our

regulate their economy, business, health care, and education on their own without government

When it comes to domestic issues, in particular the economy, Rick Perry may have had some
ideas worth listening to. There were many reasons why American citizens would have been very

Mountain Biking and the Environment
There are many types of biking disciplines as well as many different kinds of bike riders in the
world. There are those who mountain bike, road bike, or just use a bike as their transportation
everyday. I want to address what kind of effects bikers have on the environment. To do this I will
start with road biking and commuting. The main reason why cars are not environmentally
friendly is because the burning of fossil fuels (gasoline) releases carbon into the oxygen in the air,
they combine and create an abundance of C02. This is changing the natural atmospheric
greenhouse, by trapping what is essentially heat in the atmosphere causing some regions of the
earth to get warmer. This is often referred to as global warming. Many people try to avoid
polluting the environment by biking to work. However what about the Carbon dioxide we release
when we breathe? When a commuter commutes to work on their bike they will be breathing much
more than if they were sitting down. A British research study in 2008 compared car usage, public
transportation, and cycling in terms of C02 emissions. This included the C02 released from both
the making of the bikes as well as the bikers who are tired and exhaling. The result was that
cycling is about as environmentally friendly as an electrically propelled train at full occupancy
during peak service times () so cycling to work is very green. Even accounting

ago. Wilson s name was barely among the many playwrights studied in my latter years. This could
be because of the content of his plays. Much of Wilson s work examines the negative aspects of
being African Americanin America such as racism and poverty. When we read about African
American literature in school, we read about empowerment and pride. It is ironic how students
study White writers who tell stories like The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Heart of
Darkness with mistreated African American characters, but barely study those same stories
written by Black authors, poets, and playwrights. Because African American literature was not
glorified in the past, specifically speaking of a time before the Harlem Renaissance, it may take
time for certain works of African descendants to be glorified at the same level as those of White
writers, especially if their peak wasn t during the Renaissance. Wilson s Century

Ethnology. The Story Of Colonized People Has A Similar
Ethnology The story of colonized people has a similar tone in many parts of the world, but the
situation with the colonization of Australia is very similar to the story of the colonization of North
America by the Europeans. Both of these cases share similar issues and outcomes. First off, both
groups are typically generalized as one group in this case, the Aborigines and the Native Americans.
However, these groups are made up of many smaller clans or tribes that each had a unique language
and culture. Additionally, they both lived in a variety of different areas throughout their respective
continents, and thus it is hard to generalize them. Both the Aborigines and the Native American
were very negatively impacted by European... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of them live in high rate of poverty, similar to other indigenous groups around the world. As
of 2013, the disposable income of an indigenous person in Australia is about 70% of that of a non
indigenous person. This can be contributed to the fact that non indigenous people have much better
access to education, especially at the university level, and also to racial discrimination. Their lower
income means that they often live in very poor conditions according to an article published by the
Australian Broadcasting Corporation, their conditions can often be deemed fifth world . Many of
Aboriginal people in Central Australia are living in humpies , which are huts often constructed from
tree bark and branches, or shelters made from old car bodies. Alan Hudson, a former government
business manager, says that there was little improvement to the living conditions from the 1970s to
today.
Another problem that many Aboriginal people face is overcrowding of houses. In the Aboriginal
community on Palm Island, the average number of people to one house is seventeen, and about
27% of the population of Aboriginals live in overcrowded houses. The more remote the Aboriginal
community is, the more likely they are to suffer from poor living conditions. In 2006, the UN
declared that Australia had the worst Indigenous housing conditions in world.
The conditions which these people live in leads them to higher

Probability Modeling And Statistics Essay
Project On Probability Modeling Statistics.
Topic : Binomial Poisson and Normal.
Please mention The Measures of central tendency
The use of these distributions (in which cases these distributions are used) with illustrations.
Binomial approximation to the normal distribution.
What is Skewness and Kurtosis? How it is used and interpreted?
Binomial Distribution :
This kind of distribution is applied to single variable discrete data where results are the number of
successful outcomes in a given scenario.
E.g. :
no. of times the lights are red in 20 sets of traffic lights,
No of students with green eyes in class of 40,
No. of plants with diseased leaves from a sample of 50 plants.
Binomial distribution is used to calculate the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Normal Distribution:
The normal distribution is a very common continuous probability distribution. Normal distribution
is important in statistics and is often used in the natural and social sciences to represent real valued
random variables whose distributions are not known.
This distribution is useful because of the central limit theory. In its most general form, under some
conditions which include finite variance), it states that average of random variables independently
drawn from independent distributions converge in distribution to the normal, that is, become
normally distributed when the number of random variables is sufficiently large.
The normal distribution is sometimes informally called the bell curve. However, many other
distributors are bell shaped( such as the Cauchy, students and logistic distribution).
Measure of Central Tendency :
The Mean, Median and Mode are all valid measures of central tendency, but under different
conditions, some measures of central tendency become more appropriate to use than others.
Mean
The Mean is essentially a model of your data set. It is the value that is the most common.
However, Mean is not often one of the actual values that you have observed in your data set, but it
has one of its important properties is that it maximizes error in the prediction of any one value in
your data set. That is, it is the value that produces the lowest amount of error

Creating an EcOS Database Essay
How to create an EcOS database?
In EcOS, data and metadata are stored in time series database. An EcOS database has some key
characteristics:
An EcOS database acts as a container for data, metadata, and objects.
The database structure is governed by its attributes.
Since it is a time series database, each series stored is tied to a time dimension.
Each time series has a default scale.
This video shows how to create an EcOS database.
Step 1. Planning. Before constructing a database in EcOS determine the processes of database
creation, updating and maintenance. (You should determine the processes of database creation,

Nursing as a career choice. As Mother Teresa said: It is not how much you do but how much
love you put in the doing . These words can not but be common for nurses all over the world.
Well, what makes them love their profession? How did people decide to make nursing their
career choice? What are the reasons for people to start such a way of life? As it goes without
saying, nursing can not be called a profession or job only. It is something very special that totally
changes your life. First of all, it is very important to understand what nursing really is, what kind of
responsibilities it includes. If we search for the meaning of the word nurse , we will find such
explanations as: Nurse a person educated and trained to care for the sick or disabled (Dictionary by
Farlex (n.d.), Nurse one who is especially prepared in the scientific basis of nursing and who meets
certain prescribed standards of education and clinical competence (Saunders, Dorland s Medical

How Did Duke Williams Win The Battle Of Hastings
Duke Williams: The Winner of The Battle of Hastings
What if the Candidates for the president of the U.S. had to fight in a battle to see who would
win the election. As crazy as it sounds, this is how Duke Williams became King of England in
1066. In January of 1066 the death of King Edward the Confessor was the beginning of the Battle
of Hastings. When King Edward died, he had no children to inherit the throne. The legend says that
before his death, King Edward sat up and pointed to Harold Godwinson who was across the room (
Hastings ). Shortly after he died, Harold became the King of England. There were three other
people who fought to be heir to the throne. Harold defeated two of them fairly quickly. He had
hoped he could also defeat the third opponent, Duke Williams, but this was not the case. On
October 14, 1066 the Battle between Harold and Duke Williams, later to be known as the Battle
of Hastings, began. Duke Williams was the leader of the Norman army and led his troops to
victory at the Battle of Hastings because of his great plan of attack ( The Battle of Hastings ).

All the presidents men begins on June 17 1972 when five burglars broke into the Democratic
National headquarters, which was located at the Watergate Hotel. Most of the Newspapers
disregarded the story as just another break in but Two reporters for the Washington post stuck with
the story till the End.
The two reporters named Carl Bernstien and Bob Woodwardrealized that this break in was some
how involved in the up coming election but they did not know how. Their first move was to

political sabotage tracing back to JFK.
Woodward and Bernstein were then contacted by a reliable source named Deep Throat. Deep Throat
gave them information on who had control of the money in Sloan s safe. He pointed them to two
high ranking official that were thought to be the masterminds of the break in and of other CRP
actions of political sabotage. Their names were Bob Hadleman and John Ehrlichman. Deep throat
also said the attorney general John Mitchell was also some how involved. As Woodward and
Bernstien were having there articles published about Watergate the White House was denying any
involvement in the Watergate break in and denying the CRP safe which held money that went to
political sabotage. The White House also claimed that the post was only publishing story s that
helped Democrats and never published stories about political sabotage on the republican campaign.
They also claimed the post was sabotaging the republican campaign by writing these stories.

The Problem with Presidential Primaries
The Problem with Presidential Primaries
Ever since the election season of 1972, presidential primaries have become the dominant means of
selecting the two major party candidates. i[i] The primary system is one in which the eligible
voters of each state do one of the following: 1) Vote for a presidential candidateto run for their
party in the general election. 2) Vote for a delegate pledged to vote for a certain candidate at the
party s national convention. As intended, this process would bring the candidate selection processes
out into the open and let the people vote for the candidate of their choice. ii[ii] On the surface, this
may look very democratic (and admittedly, in some instances it was/is), but upon closer ... Show

Standing in his way was the fact that only one of the early primary states had a true open primary
Michigan. Both New Hampshire and South Carolina were considered modified open primaries
iii[iii] that tended to discourage Independent voting. In addition, Delaware and Arizona were closed
primaries that would not allow Independents or Democrats to vote. However, despite the closed
primary, McCain s home state of Arizona was essentially a lock.
Due to heavy campaigning, McCain was able to win New Hampshire by a 48% to 30% iv[iv]
margin. George W. Bush emphatically won the closed Delaware primary by a 51% to 25% v[v]
margin. Bush then went on to win in South Carolina s modified open primary by a 53% to 42%
vi[vi] margin, thus robbing McCain s hopes of gaining momentum. Despite this, McCain did get
back on the winning track with wins in Michigan s open primary and in Arizona s closed primary.
Victories aside, McCain was still going against the mainstream Republicans who were backing
Bush. The structure of the primaries early in the season allowed McCain to make a name for
himself, but the fact that closed primaries worked and would continue to work against him made
winning the nomination extremely difficult.

the extent of defects which are brought straight to the buyer s attention, this will be done before the
contract is made meaning that T Mobile will need to sell satisfactory quality to their consumers.
Conclusion: Overall in the briefing sheet I have made sure that all evidence is provided, also that a

I Have A Deep Appreciation Of Music
Every semester, Dickinson College has a Noonday Concert series, in which Dickinson students
perform musical pieces they have been working on for our community. The Noonday Concert
on October 29, 2015 featured only a few performances that were all beautifully done. However,
the one performance that truly left me in awe was Shucheng Yang s rendition of Chopin s
Г‰tude Op. 10, No. 9. Not only was Yang s piece the only one of that concert that was not
accompanied by a vocalist, but his work allowed me to truly use the skills I have learned in my
musicclasses to develop a deeper appreciation of music. Yang s demeanor as a pianist, his talent,
and his attention to detail allowed him to transform Chopin s piece into a piece all his own. I
have a deep appreciation for Chopin, but I had never been able to see his pieces performed live
before I came to Dickinson. The classes I have taken at Dickinson helped give me the language
to interpret music, analyze performances, and finally understand why I am so passionate about
this form of art. Chopin s Г‰tude Op. 10, No. 9 is a very difficult but beautiful piece. The piece
starts out very high tempo, which leads me to believe that Chopin noted the tempo allegro,or the
like, in his sheet music. As Yang was playing, I noticed that his left hand was playing many more
notes than his right, which, at first, led me to believe that this piece would be dominated by a
lower octave. However, later in the piece, I noticed that the right hand joined

joint pains, muscle pains and other aches associated with arthritis.
Now for the side of nutmeg of which I m sure most of you were not aware. Did you know that
nutmeg can be considered a drug due to the effects it has on the human mind? Nutmeg contains the
psychoactive ingredient myristicin, which belongs to the deliriant drug family. Due to the
presence of this ingredient, a tablespoon of fresh ground nutmeg can indeed get you high! But
warning, this is not any normal high. A high off of nutmeg can range from a mild high similar to
marijuana to a crazy trip coupled with auditory and visual hallucinations, closed eye visuals and
shifts in perception. It possible for a person to still feel the effects of a nutmeg high after as much

Solar Renewable Energy System
In brewing industry, 80% of overall final energy consumption is used in the form of thermal energy
where solar thermal can be used for brewing processes as below: steam generation, malting process,
stopping germination of grains, air cooling, conservation with hot air, power supplying of washing
machines, wither and kiln processes. Malting plants and breweries consume heatfor their thermally
driven processes at temperature level ranges between 25В°C to 120В°C. It seems feasible to supply
heat at this temperature level which is not higher than the actual amount required but in reality the
it is often decided by the consumer which needs the highest temperature. The integration of solar
renewable energysystem is necessary to reduce the exergy losses and CO2 emissions [17,21,24,25].
To utilize the organic matter from brewing residues, optimized heat recovery can supply its thermal
energy demand over resources. Theoretically, the full energy potential is not utilized so the
pathway is the conventional means of energy. However, the conversion of heat from energy gained
from renewable energy resources can ensure environment friendly beer production process for
future. To increase the overall energy efficiency, the integration of solar heat energy gained from
solar thermal collector technologies can be considered as a prospective alternative to fulfill the
demands of typical low temperature process heat.

  • 2. 3 John Reflection Many scholars believe that because 3 John is the shortest book in the New Testament it is the void of any doctrinal content. The paper sets out to argue that 3 John is deeply doctrinal but it is embedded within the author s view of the character of God and his plan for the world. I must confess that as I read 3 John I did not grasp the message. It was only after reading the article a few times I was able to comprehend the 3 John. The article explains that in order to understand this letter we must dig deep into the background, and find the author s intentions and the reaction he expect from the recipient. 3 John seems to a reply to a previous letter, which we no access to.In letter the Elder commends Gaius for supporting the missionaries who have arrived, even at the cost of his excommunication. The elder speaks of Diotrephes who has rejected his authority and placed himself leader, refusing to help missionaries, and threatening anyone who supports them. Although this letter was not thought to offer much deep theological reflections, Lieu found that it cast a light on the early patterns of ministry. It was by using a socio narrative analysis, and rearranging the letter,we were able to grasp the big picture. When were introduced to John Searle s speech act theory we saw how communication carries a force that affects and changes the receiver s behavior. The idea being that by reading 3 John and looking closely at the events surrounding the story we are able to get a clearer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Significance Of Trinidad And Tobago Carnival Question: Examine the economic, social and cultural significance of the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival (20th century to present) Trinidad and Tobago s carnival is an annual celebration that is held on the Monday and Tuesday before the Lent season of fasting , which is celebrated by the Roman Catholic religion. The carnivalfestival of Trinidad and Tobagobegun in the late 18th century, when the French plantation owners , held organised masquerades balls, before the fasting of Lent. The Africian slaves and coloureds were not allowed to participate in these celebrations. In turn they formed their own celebration in which they called Canboulary . During the celebrations of the Masquerades Balls, the Africian slaves and coloured had some opportunity to be engaged and enjoy themselves. When these slaves were emancipated in the year 1838, the door was fully opened for the Africians to participate in their own carnival celebrations. They then took over carnival and embraced it as an expression of their freedom. They celebrated this festival with calypso music, soca music, costumes, stick fighting and limbo. The elements of carnival were developed from the Africian slaves. In order to explain the relationship between discipline and obedience from a Montessori perspective, it would be useful define and compare the more common explanations of these terms with the interpretations of Maria Montessori. The development of the child within the Montessori setting and in particular the maturational development of discipline, obedience and the will shall then be discussed. In so doing, a very close and almost symbiotic relationship between all three will become apparent. Discipline is commonly thought of as something that is done to a child in order to achieve obedience. It is seen as a form of control that implies a denial of freedom. At around the age of 2 ВЅ to 3 however, consciousness emerges and all that has been stored up in the Mneme, together with new information, begins to come into the conscious mind, transforming into memory and reason. The child has is now entering the second phase of the Absorbent Mind, known as the Social Embryonic stage (Montessori, 2007a). Montessori (1963) describes the child as unbalanced and having certain deviations (lack of control or discipline resulting in possible aggression or passivity). Importantly, with respect to discipline and obedience, it is when the horme and egocentricity begin to wane and the child becomes more aware of others and their needs. It is at this stage that the child enters the Nursery. Through her observations, Montessori held that a child will pass through several sensitive periods during the Absorbent Mind, where he/she has an intrinsic sensibility to acquiring particular skills beneficial to his/her development (Montessori, 2007a). He/she is drawn to particular activities that will match the particular sensitivity such as a sensitivity to order or small objects for example. It is for these reasons that Montessori saw the need to develop an environment that would enable every possibility for the child to fulfill all of these needs and that failure to do so could result in physical, social and mental instability. • 6. Difference Between Christianity And Lucretius Lucretius was a Roman poet and philosopher who wrote De rerum natura (On the Nature of Things), an epic poem widely regarded as one of the most influential works in history of literature, and science. In addition to his doctrinal and scientific impact, Lucretius exerted a profounded influence on countless later philosophers and scientists. Very little is known about the life of Lucretius. He was born in 99 BC, according to most accounts. Jerome a prominent Roman clergyman, wrote that love potion had driven him insane. After writing some highly influential books in lucid intervals, Lucretius eventually committed suicide. (2) If it gives you great pleasure to call the sea Neptune or to refer to grain and wine as Ceres and Bacchus, Lucretius wrote, you should feel free to do so, just as you can dub the world round the Mother of the Gods. And if drawn by there solemn beauty, you choose to visit religious shrines, you will be doing yourself no harm, provided that you contemplate the images of the gods in peace and tranquility. But you should not think for a minute that you can either anger or propitiate any of these deities. The processions, the animal sacrifices, the frenzied dances, the drums and cymbals and pipes, the showers of snowy rose petals, the eunuch priests, the carved images of the infant god: all of these cultic practices, through compelling and impressive in their way, are fundamentally meaningless, since gods they meant to reach are entirely removed and separated from our world. Prevention And Intervention Strategies For Vietnam Veterans Reserve and National Guard members, who report combat exposure, were more likely to experience new onset heavy drinking, binge drinking, and alcohol related problems, thereby greatly increasing their risk for suicidal behaviors (Frueh Smith, 2012). McCarl (2013) states that redeployment and multiple deployments can further compound a service member s already fragile state of mind if sent back into combat without fully recovering from the physical and mental wounds of the previous deployment (p. 410). Veterans who have reported killing in war had twice the odds of suicidal ideation (Maguen et al, 2015). In a study performed with Vietnam veterans, sixteen of nineteen suicideattempters (82%) had felt out of control as a result of excessive fear or rage during their tours of duty, including situations in which their anger led to their killing noncombatant civilians (Hendin, 2014, p. 584). Prevention and Intervention Strategies Suicide among veterans is a national concern and suicide prevention is a priority for the VHA. In concern for the health and well being of military service members and veterans, congress has mandated implementation of a comprehensive VHA suicide prevention program. Their event was named It s time for a treat. The symphony was conducted by Dr. Brain St. John. Before it began, I read over the program that was handed out to find out basic information. The history of the pieces helped in understanding them. The concert featured many well known works by famous composers such as Camille Saint Saens, Modest Mussorgsky, and Berlioz. The three pieces that are the most memorable in my mind are Overture to La Cenerentola , LГ ci darem la mano , and March to the Scaffold from Symphonie Fantastique. Beginning with the first piece called Overture to La Cenerentola composed by Gioachino Rossiniin 1817. It was part of the Rossini s version of the opera, Cinderella. An overture is used to capture the audience s attention. It informs the audience the concert is about to begin. This piece is still a good selection for an overture. The contrasting soft and loud pitches made a good way to get the audience s attention. Also the brass section became a vital piece towards the end with the intense The increasing and decreasing tempo seemed like a good warning that the main event was about to begin. From the kids who do graduate 18% won t be able to attend four years of college. Knowing those statistics and how they affected children all around the U.S. Wendy Kopp wanted to change those statistics. Wendy Kopp was born in Austin, Texas on June 29th, 1867. Wendy Kopp believed that it was the responsibility of everyone to stop children from being uneducated. As Wendy grew up she felt that since she was a woman there would be limits but as the years passed by she learned she wasn t limited. She attended Princeton as a public policy major and was involved in many activities. She met a variety of people during her college years and learned more about students who come from poor communities and found that they have lower academic achievement because they were less prepared for the challenges ahead. Wendy eventually used this same idea in her senior thesis. So, for her senior thesis she proposed that they should assign graduates from the nation s top universities to teach in disadvantaged communities. • 15. Chemical Weathering Lab Report Jerry Valente Earth Science 1 11/10/17 Chemical Weathering Background Information Chemical weathering occurs when the erosion of rocks and the disintegration of rocks are caused by chemical reactions with water and substances dissolved in it. This can occur in places where rainfall is common, it occurs more rapidly at higher temperatures. Since high temperatures and damp areas cause the chemical weathering process to increase, you can infer that chemical weathering occurs more frequently in the spring. There are different types of chemical weathering, the three big ones being solution, hydrolysis, and oxidation. Solution weathering occurs when sulphuric acid in the air mixes with rainwater turning it into acid rain. This is most common in highly polluted areas such as China which is a very big country with a lot of cities and rural manufacturing plants. Acidic rain can remove /damage rocks, limestone is especially vulnerable to weathering by rain water containing CO2. The next type, hydrolysis weathering, breaks down rocks by acidic water to produce clay and a soluble salt. The only rock not affected by hydrolysis is quartz. Finally the last type of weathering is the breakdown of rocks by oxygen and water called oxidation, which makes rocks less resistant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 16. Classroom Management Reflection Classroom management is an essential skill that is required of all teachers who wish to be effective teachers. To have good classroom management, teachers need three skills: self efficacy, classroom experience, and a passion for teaching. Two of these concepts go hand in hand. If a teacher is passionate about their profession, they will have a strong sense of self efficacy. Wolff, Jarodzka, and Boshuizen (2017) state that learning to manage a classroom and teach effectively is complicated, and the majority of the knowledge and skill development required for effective teaching takes place within the classroom itself (p. 295). This means that not all teachers start at the same level. There will always be room for improvement, and teachers will continue to grow and get better as time goes on. There are many different factors that play into good classroom management, but by far the main three needed are self efficacy, classroom experience and passion. When the course first began, I assumed that the concept of classroom management would be fairly straightforward. To the untrained eye, individuals are either good or bad teachers. If a classroom is filled with chaos, then that instructor is a bad teacher. By this logic, an individual who handles a room full of students effortlessly is a good teacher. However, it is only now as we near the end of the course that I realize that things are not that simple. All teachers, whether good or bad, are capable of having good ... According to Ole Hanseth et al (2010), reflexive standardization is the process of supporting efforts to bring about order and organization in a function, and instead of achieving positive results, negative results are achieved. Reflexive standardization brings about negative results as a result of failing to be planned adequately from the onset. For instance, take for example the Norwegian hospital; the development of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) was developed as a fragmented record of databases. The records brought about challenges in the manner in which they were accessed and as a result, there was need to redesign the system. Instead of setting aside a development team to redesign the system based on thorough research, the hospital decided to centralize the database and create several views for different system users to view these records. This was deemed to be the reflexive standardization of the information system. It had both advantages and disadvantages as discussed. Necessity and Advantages The proverbial elephant in the room was the scattering of records and the need to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... South Afric An Evaluation Of The Status Of Our... 130,000 years of palaeoenvironmental and palaeoclimatic change in East Africa: An evaluation of the status of our understanding Over the last two decades, there has been intensive work undertaken to understand African palaeoclimates, in order to put together a more coherent picture of how the environment and climate have varied in the past. East Africa is of particular interest with the debates surrounding the out of Africa migrations of anatomically modern humans (e.g. Appenzellar, 2012; Armitage et al, 2011; Balter, 2011; Cruciani et al, 2011). It is still premature for any grand synthesis of the region s climatic past when the patchiness of the palaeoclimatic and palaeoenvironmental records are acknowledged, and in light of the complexity of the climate forcing mechanisms across this region (Berke et al, 2014). The warning causation, correlation or coincidence still very much applies to all exercises in explanation and more regional scale work is certainly necessary (McIntosh et al. 2015). This essay initially takes the lens of human evolution to evaluate the status of our understanding of the palaeoenvironmental and palaeoclimatic change during the critical Out of Africa migration periods. This is followed by an in depth review of the palynological record in East Africa and associated records. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although it is difficult to directly exemplify the impact of invasive European honeybees on native bumblebees through floral resources, many studies prove there is an indirect relationship between the species concerning overlapping of their ecological niche (Thomson 2004). Diane Thomson conducted an experiment measuring the impacts of the invasive honeybee on the native bumblebee through competition for nectar and pollen resources. Each summer from 1998 through 2000, two to three Apis colonies (each consisting of 10,000 15,000 workers) were introduced into three sites from early June to early September (Thomson 2004). Each Apis colony was placed 2 km apart. For the native bumblebees, B. occidentalis colonies were located at 10 m, 500 m, and 1000 m away from each site. Since there are three distances, and three different sites, there were nine B. occidentalis colonies in total. The B. occidentalis species was placed in the same location every year; however, the distance treatment was altered (Thomson 2004). To reduce the factors that may alter the results, laboratory reared colonies were used to minimize any differences in the Bombus colonies and weighed to keep the amount consistent (Thomson 2004). Women often experience shame when they are entangled in a web of layered, conflicting and competing social community expectations. Shame leaves women feeling trapped, powerless and isolated. We are not alone in feeling unworthy. Shame causes us to feel unlovable and damaged, yet Christ is in the business of restoring dignity back to the human soul. For example, if he keeps missing lay ups, I would make him make fifty before he could move on to anything else. If he has trouble dribbling, then I would make him do dribbling drills until he has started to improve. The same goes for baseball too. Punishment in a form that improves his game by making him to the same thing over and over again until he gets better. My punishment in both sports was that I would always have to run if I messed up repeatedly. That only makes you want to do better, which makes you better in the long run, but making him repeat what he needs to improve has more of a direct correlation in helping his weak aspects of the ... Throughout history, the role of women has often carried a prejudice which has been embedded within society politically, socially and financially across the world. Although arguably one of the most liberal countries constitutionally, such chauvinism has indeed occurred within Britain, particularly during the Victorian Era. This restricted participation for women can be exemplified clearly in two main areas; education and politics. With universal compulsory education in Britain only being constitutionally enforced with the 1870 Education Act1, women had little opportunity to gain any form of coherent education in the early 19 th century; tuition was largely confined to the upper class, and even then, through instruction of private... Lascia Ch Io Pianga Analysis Essay The analysis of the aria Lascia ch io pianga by Haendel according to the thorough bass method, shows us how the composer refer in this piece to the typical compositional procedures of baroque music. The aria starts with a pedal (frame, according to Joel Lester s terminology) followed by a cadence harmonized according the regle de l octave both in ascending and descending motion (MM. 5 8). The second episode starting at M. 8 consists of a sequence, precisely a modified sequence, in which the subsequent is slightly modified at the end introducing a new harmonyon the second beat of M. 12 that leads to a final cadence with a modulation to the original key. In Lascia ch io pianga is possible to understand all the harmonies as fifths and sevenths but the bass line motion not always moves naturally by fifths and fourths. In many cases, through the use of the double emploi, is has been possible to correct some irregular motions into fifth motion, but still for some of them it hasn t been possible. Probably the most evident example is the motion by second occurring between MM. 6 and 7, and between MM. 11 and 12. The fundamental bass analysis bring into play notes that are supposed, that are not in the score but affect the music as the roots of a tree feed the last leaf on the highest branch. In this case, we can see how the sense of motion that we perceive listening to this aria is perfectly explained and justified by the succession of seventh chord and fifth chord, as the epitome of the arsi tesi feeling in music. Even in the first two measures, that look really simple in the thorough bass analysis, we can still discover something that makes this beginning not so obvious. In the first measure the F is transformed into D with a seventh chord on top, and the accumulation of this seventh with the next one in the second measure create a sense of instability and a need to resolve. In the next measures this tension will be released through a succession of 5 chord with two final combinations 7 5 to close the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Effects Of Mountain Biking Harris Pigford Beary Environmental Science 5th 11/18/17 Mountain Biking and the Environment There are many types of biking disciplines as well as many different kinds of bike riders in the world. There are those who mountain bike, road bike, or just use a bike as their transportation everyday. I want to address what kind of effects bikers have on the environment. To do this I will start with road biking and commuting. The main reason why cars are not environmentally friendly is because the burning of fossil fuels (gasoline) releases carbon into the oxygen in the air, they combine and create an abundance of C02. This is changing the natural atmospheric greenhouse, by trapping what is essentially heat in the atmosphere causing some regions of the earth to get warmer. This is often referred to as global warming. Many people try to avoid polluting the environment by biking to work. However what about the Carbon dioxide we release when we breathe? When a commuter commutes to work on their bike they will be breathing much more than if they were sitting down. A British research study in 2008 compared car usage, public transportation, and cycling in terms of C02 emissions. This included the C02 released from both the making of the bikes as well as the bikers who are tired and exhaling. The result was that cycling is about as environmentally friendly as an electrically propelled train at full occupancy during peak service times () so cycling to work is very green. • 42. Analysis Of Fences And Heart Of Darkness August Wilson was a famous and influential playwright who wrote about the African American experience and conflicts with the White world. Although he may be argued as one of the greatest playwrights in America, I myself have only heard of his work once when my seventh grade English class read Fences, a play about a man and his son dealing with dealing with racismwhile also dealing with their own conflict when the son wants to follow in the steps of his father and become a professional athlete. I had honestly forgotten all about that one play I read eight years ago. Wilson s name was barely among the many playwrights studied in my latter years. This could be because of the content of his plays. Much of Wilson s work examines the negative aspects of being African Americanin America such as racism and poverty. When we read about African American literature in school, we read about empowerment and pride. It is ironic how students study White writers who tell stories like The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Heart of Darkness with mistreated African American characters, but barely study those same stories written by Black authors, poets, and playwrights. Because African American literature was not glorified in the past, specifically speaking of a time before the Harlem Renaissance, it may take time for certain works of African descendants to be glorified at the same level as those of White writers, especially if their peak wasn t during the Renaissance. • 55. Solar Renewable Energy System In brewing industry, 80% of overall final energy consumption is used in the form of thermal energy where solar thermal can be used for brewing processes as below: steam generation, malting process, stopping germination of grains, air cooling, conservation with hot air, power supplying of washing machines, wither and kiln processes. Malting plants and breweries consume heatfor their thermally driven processes at temperature level ranges between 25В°C to 120В°C. It seems feasible to supply heat at this temperature level which is not higher than the actual amount required but in reality the it is often decided by the consumer which needs the highest temperature. The integration of solar renewable energysystem is necessary to reduce the exergy losses and CO2 emissions [17,21,24,25]. To utilize the organic matter from brewing residues, optimized heat recovery can supply its thermal energy demand over resources. Theoretically, the full energy potential is not utilized so the pathway is the conventional means of energy. However, the conversion of heat from energy gained from renewable energy resources can ensure environment friendly beer production process for future. To increase the overall energy efficiency, the integration of solar heat energy gained from solar thermal collector technologies can be considered as a prospective alternative to fulfill the demands of typical low temperature process heat. 9.3.Food Industry: The most ...
