Analysis Of The Movie Network
Right now, it s an industry dedicated to one thing. Profit. This quote by author, Paddy
Chayefsky, perfectly sums up the motives behind the movie Network. From hiring
soothsayers to risking a man s mental heath for the sake of a successful television
program, the characters in Network have truly been blinded by fame and top ratings.
This satire fiercely describes just how far a televisionnetworkwill go to achieve such
accomplishments. In the 1950 s, television changed American entertainment from
showing sitcoms to serious news broadcasts. In the movie Network, the setting
revolves around a news station, where the ratings are suffering and the workers are
growing desperate for attention. Television executive, Diana Christensen, is tirelessly
racking her brain for the next big hit, and her ideas are deemed crazy by more than just
one coworker; however, in desperation, her ideas are put to the test on live television.
Even after news anchor, Howard Beale, has a mental breakdown on camera, Christensen
fights to keep him on the air because of the rising success the network found in his
entertaining yet uncontrollable rants about a failing society (Ebert). Eventually,
Christensen manages to secure Howard Beale s very own television series featuring a
soothsayer to predict future shows and Beale himself to demand people to take control
of their lives. Almost all of his shows ended in him falling flat on the ground from
fainting; this reveals the toll that the program is
Post-Slavery And Economic Development In The American
South
The post slavery economic development or lack thereof which ever maybe the case
will be explored by looking at three different articles. This paper will summarize these
three articles then it will compare and contrast these three articles. the purpose of
comparing and contrasting these three articles will be to see on what points do these
authors agree on, what arguments do they make that are similar, and what arguments or
points do they disagree on. This paper will no attempt to sway the reader one way or
another it will be strictly a summary of the three articles followed by a compare and
contrast of the same articles.
The first article is titled, Class Structure and Economic Development in the American
South, 1865 1955 . Here the author talks about economic development in the post slavery
American south. The author says that most people never attempt to understand the
economic development in a methodical way. there are two approaches for looking at the
post civil war and therefore post slavery development one is neoclassical economic
theory and the other is an approach that analysis the classes of the people who make up
the southern states. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The abolition of slavery destroyed much of the capital that the south had and neither
the slaver owner or slaves were compensated for their losses. The loss of capital
according to the article was not the only way slavery reduced the value of assets. The
labor shortage created by emancipation had the effect of making a useless resource
thereby having another form of capital reduced. The result of all this was that the post
war southern economy was stagnant and fell into a slow and painful growth well into the
twentieth century. The article mentions the failure of capitalism revive the southern

Jane Eyre And Blanche Foil
Jane Eyre is the main character on the novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte who did
not have strong personality while living with aunt Mrs. Reed and her children, but
after Jane was sent to the Lowood Institution, a charity school for girls. During school
years, about eight years, Jane became mature, and accepted the harsh truth about life;
knew how to draw, to play piano; learned French, and was loved by everyone by her
sweet personality. Blanche Ingram, on the other hand, is more of very showy but not
genuine. Mr. Rochester knew, however, marrying Jane will be too easy, and she will
because of his social status and money. So instead of making Jane s life easier, Mr.
Rochester plays small affair with Blanche which eventually turned out into marriage....

Blanche is very tall but has a proud, arrogant manner, a mocking air, and a satirical
laugh. She tends to pretend expertise in subjects about which she actually knows
nothing, especially when Blanche speaks to her snobbish mother. Blanche serves as a
character foil to Jane: her artificiality makes Jane s frankness all the more evident and
attractive. Mr. Rochester is aware in Blanche s interest in him which is for his money,
but he starts pretending that he is in love with her in order to make Jane jealous. Mrs.
Fairfax is fond of Blanche because of her beauty, and also her appearances in the
public. Mrs. Fairfax said to Jane that Blanche was admired not only for her beauty, but
for her accomplishments which was her act of singing, and duet with Mr. Rochester.
And Mrs. Fairfax favors Blanche to be Mr. Rochester bride rather than Jane because of
the social status each girl has, and how a governess can marry someone on who she
Wendy s Grill Menu Analysis
While Becky s Grill may not be the most affordable place to dine, it is an excellent
place to eat because it has great consistent tasting food, and an original menu selection.
The dish that I picked from Becky s Grill, is the four ounce Monster Burger. The
burger consists of two freshly steamed buns, a four ounce patty, fresh leaves of lettuce,
and a thin slice of tomato. Each time I have ordered the dish it has exceeded prior
expectations and has continued to get better. The only downside about eating at this
restaurant is the price range. Seeing how it is local, paying for certain items on the menu
are a bit pricy, however, it is all homemade. An added perk is that they have their own
southern twist on items. For instance, Macaroni
Max Weber Research Paper
Biography of Weber:
Max Weber was born in Erfurt, Thuringia in 1864 into a prominent and well off family
(weber 1930) was brought up in Berlin. He came from the German upper middle class.
His father was a great figure in politics of the National Liberal Party and his mother was
a house wife. He was brought up in an era after the world war I where the dramatically
changes pushed for industrial revolution.
Max took up law, but left it before time in life. He was never interested in the academic
specialty. He was an intellectual of the first degree, with far ranging interests in sociology

Also because of this situation, people in the organisation will not be able to lead a
creative and happy life, as they would be forced to work in a highly rational society with
rigid rules and without able to change it.
Weber (1958) showed how this exact materialistic, individualist ethic was used to develop
effectiveness, productivity, wealth formation, and self interest. Weber s challenge with
most important contemporary management scholars, was to develop a new approach to
management and organization grounded in the teachings of new prophets. The worth of
such professionals for the organisation will depend on the accumulation of knowledge
and understanding that has generated skills, necessary for the work in an organisation.
Management theory of Weber:
Weber professed many theories, a few are mentioned below:
Theory on Capitalism: In social capitalism, huge public institutions evened the financial
volatility of capitalist markets by sharing risk and reduced social instability by creating
group employment within their widespread lower rungs of the organisations.
The charismatic leadership: According to Weber, the Charismatic leader is one who is
extraordinary, who appears only in chaotic times. He is not the officer or boss, but rather
from among the group. Thus, a charismatic leader emerges swiftly in times of want,
uncertainty or suffering.
Persuasive Essay Against Gun Control
A law that would outlaw guns would be a more of a disadvantage to the law abiding
citizens than it would be to the criminals. If a law like that would be enacted, the
criminals would not stop carrying guns but the pleasant citizens of the United States
would. Currently, there is three major laws that prohibit specific firearms. The National
Firearms Actof 1934 restricts citizens from possessing automatic weapons, hand
grenades and other powerful arms. There is another federal law, The Gun Control Act
of 1968, which prohibits mail order sales of weapons, and requires anyone in the gun
selling business to be licensed. Finally the third is the Brady Handgun Violence
Prevention Act of 1993 which requires dealers to perform background checks.... Show

According to jacob Davidson for Time magazine, For one, we need to remember that
we ve had a remarkable decrease in the U.S since early 1990 s, even though the number
of firearms has increased by about 10 million every year (Davidson). For decades, things
have been impressively outstanding than it was before 1990. Even though there had been
an increase in firearms, almost 10 million a year, gun crime has not been much of an
issue, in that it has decreased. In contrast, the Second Amendment was drafted in order
to protect the militias to own and use firearms, not the citizens. According to an article
about gun control, all law articles on their Second Amendment from 1888 to 1959
stated that an individual right was not guaranteed (Should More). But the Second
Amendment was created in order to protect all able bodied men the right to own guns
so they could have the choice of joining the militia. A pro con article about gun control
states, According to the United States Code, a militia is composed of all able bodied
males at least 17 years of age.... (Should More). All able bodied individuals have the
right to own guns with intention to become law abiding citizens of the United States. As
stated in the Second Amendment, all able bodied men that is eligible for service in the
militia, is allowed to own a firearm. If more gun control laws were enacted then, it would

Design And Functionalism Of The Industrial Revolution
The industrial revolution was the transition to industrialisation and urbanisation, which
took place from the 18th to 19th centuries. Industrialisation shifted the manufacturing of
goods from small quantities using basic machinery at home, to mass production with the
mechanisation of machinery. The task of drafting a product was no longer left with the
craftsmen, thus the creation of the design profession. (Hauffe, 1998, p.11) Mass
production and series production is defined as the large quantity manufacturing of goods,
using assembly line techniques and standardised designs. Manufactured products that
contributed to a high turnover use new sales methods, including catalogs, sales
representatives and advertising. In addition, the ability to create more cost effective and
accessible products. The term form follows function is the principle that the shape of an
object should be based upon its intended purpose. Modernist design and functionalism
supporters assumed two different perspectives of the term. 1. The form of an object had
only suit its function without unnecessary details. 2. The process behind manufacturing
products needs to be simple and straight forward using a metric language, produced of
high quality and long lasting These assumptions create a clear perspective of the intent to
design with the clear point of focus in terms of function, to create an object of
simplification. Artistic/aesthetic the creative exploration of ideas and design aesthetics

Mckenzie Falls Gorge Trail Case Study
The Mckenzie Falls Gorge Trail won the AILA Landscape Architecture Design Award
and the People s choice award in 2014. About 250 Km west of Melbourne, the volcanic
plains of Victoria s Western district hosts a geologically significant area called the
Grampians National Park. The Grampians National Park is an unprotected bushland well
known among hikers and rock climbers. The Mckenzie Falls is one of Victorias largest
falls and is the site to the reconstructed Mckenzie Falls Gorge Trail by Hansen
Partnership and Parks Victoria.
A major bushfire ruined about 50 percent of the park in 2006, followed five years later
by a flood that damaged a significant amount of the park s infrastructure, particularly

Parks Victoria did not dictate a rigid brief but instead asked Hansen Partnership to create
a unique experience for the visitors. (Ricardo, 2014)
ACCESS
There was very little existing site material available, the designers documented the site
walking and mapped the area from scratch to propose possible path alignments along
the way. Rather than crossing the river below the falls and leading up to the ridge line
as it did before, the path would take visitors through the base of the valley, as close to the
river as possible. (Ricardo, 2014)
To minimalize the linearity of the project heavier and more visually dominant elements
were discarded. Thus the presence of the trail is not always constant and it blends in
with the surroundings. The bridges and the elevated walkways meander through a cool
microclimate created by a field of fallen rocks lying next to an escarpment wall.
We wanted the bridge to follow the escarpment wall and gave instruction to make sure
the rock wall was always within arm s length. explains Anton Malishev, senior landscape
architect at Hansen Partnership. The shape of the bridge thus is not
Discourse On Method And Meditations On First Philosophy
Discourse on Method and Meditations on First Philosophy was written by Rene
Descarte. His main focus was to decide if God was real or not and if God created him
or not. In Meditation Five, Descarte states that God existed because he has prior
knowledge of materialistic things. He states that he recalls objects without prior
knowledge of them, and that everyone perceives all the objects in the same type of
manner. In the end of the mediation he closes it out by stating that, we all can think of
non existent things with the same idea of what they are without them existing, thus
proving that God exists in some manner, creating us with this information. In Meditation
Five, Descarte focuses on proving God s existenceby considering the properties
belonging to God s essence. In this paper Descarte is trying to prove the existence of God
through his pre existing knowledge of objects and ideas. He is wrong due to his
examples being based on the big picture and not the small details that prove his ideas
wrong.
Descarte was big on the idea of morals and God. In meditation five, Descarte states when
I examine those ideas of corporeal objects that are distinct and not confused, I find that
these are properties concerned with extension and duration: length, breadth, depth, size,
shape, position, and movement . What he means here is that basically everything has its
own special characteristics and its own place in the world. Next, he states that although

Ninotchka And Communism In Ernst Lubitsch s
As one of the early controversial Soviet American made films, Ninotchka (1939) was
one of the first American movies which under a satirical cover and light romance,
depicted the Joseph Stalin rule of Soviet Russia as being harsh and melancholy. Ernst
Lubitsch s comedy starring Greta Garbo as a stern Russian who falls in love, was
deemed a great success in the United States and Western Europe whereas it was banned
in the Soviet Unionand its satellites. At the time, New York Times newspaper started
their review blatantly stating Stalin won t like it (Nugent, 1939). Premiering in 1939 in
the United States, the films release was uncanny, a month after the outbreak of World
War II in Europe. Lubitsch s film Ninotchka utilizes Greta Garbo s and... Show more

Eggert recognizes the attempt to daringly represent communism with various realities,
presenting women in several forms of power and authority (Eggert, 2013). This
representation was considered taboo to Western culture at the time challenging political
and social norms of the era. Most viewers however, chose to ignore many of these
representations of communism and focus on the bland monotonous imprisonment of
many soviet people. Eggert suggests that The protagonist s stifled sexuality is
represented by her political identity, and only when she sheds her Communist role can
she fulfill herself sexually (Eggert, 2013). This sexual restriction attempts to embody
soviet communism of the time, an early robotic Ninotchka allows herself to escape the
constraints her country has placed on her to complete her current quest for love. This
representation implies love, happiness, and fulfillment cannot exist under soviet rule and
can only be pursued through the capitalistic realm. Other instances of the extreme
contrast of the two systems can be noted when Ninotchka orders her food from a
Parisian restaurant asking for raw beets and carrots. The baffled server responds
Madame, this is a restaurant, not a meadow. Yet another
Essay On Improving Access To Legal Services
Improving Access to Legal Services in the United States The U.S. Congress
established the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) in 1974 to promote equality in the
justice system. Today, the access and affordability of legal services, especially for the
poor, continues to be an issue. According to the LSC s 2017 Justice Gap Report, Eighty
six percent of the civil legal problems faced by low income Americans in a given year
receive inadequate or no legal help (Legal Services Corporation, 2017, p. 30). The Sixth

Some solutions include the improvement of funding and structure of public defender
services to ensure each litigant receives proper attention, the reformation of the justice
system to avoid disproportionate effects on the poor, collaboration with other services to
expand accessibility, and increased promotion and incentives for attorneys to provide pro
bono services. In the 1963 U.S. Supreme Court case Gideon v. Wainwright, the Sixth
Amendment s right to counsel became incorporated, and as a result, those who are
indigent are entitled to a court appointed attorney to represent them in any courtroom.
This landmark case led states to enhance their public defense systems because public
defenders assist in the fight against crime and contribute to the effective operation of
programs that may help reduce recidivism, thereby increasing the effectiveness of our
justice system (Fabelo, 2001, p. 2). Ensuring that states allocate necessary funding and
resources to their respective public defender systems will reduce individual public
defenders caseloads. Policymakers examining the needs of public defender systems
should use personal testimony from people who utilized the service, verdict and
sentencing data, and public opinion polls as measures of

Scotland, who long had dreamed of their independence, suddenly saw a golden
opportunity. The oil, could give them the money it would take to survive on their own
without being controlled by England. Scotland got inspired by the Scandinavian
countries, which only consists of five million habitants, but still are one of the world s
most successful countries, especially Norway with made a fortune on their north sea

money, and Scotland started to dislike being in union with England even more when
they have an open chance to succeed if they were on their own. The fact that Margaret
Thatcher wasted a lot of the North Sea oil revenues on paying for tax cuts and
unemployment benefits when it could have been used to rebuild industry or national
infrastructure, didn t help on the Scott s anger. In 1979, The Scots become asked

Causes And Negative Effects Of Computer
There has been an immense progression in the development of technology in the past
30 years. Many good things have come of this, such as cell phones, computers and
television. However, I have recently come across an article of a new, advanced
computer. Essentially, scientists made a computer using DNA so it can supposedly be
faster and solve more complex problems. This seems very concerning. In fact, the
more that I think of it, the worse I realise it is. Could these types of computers cause
more harm than good? Let s take a look. First of all, by adding DNA to a computer, it
essentially becomes a human. Our DNA is what gives us our traits that make us
unique from each other. If we make more of these computers, how long will it be
before they take over, or cause a nuclear war? Think about it: these computers could
communicate between each other and plan an attack, without us even knowing. Not
much research has been done on the specific capabilities of this type of machinery.
They are a serious threat, as they are much smarter than us. Humans will be powerless
in the wake of an army of supercomputers. They will be one step ahead of us on
everything. Also, what happens when these computers get into the hands of the wrong
people? A country such as Russia or North Korea could do some serious damage with
such sophisticated technology. They could discover some classified information, causing
a third world war. Either the computers will declare war against us or the computers will
Causes And External Factors Of Extrinsic Ageing
This essay will focus on the internal (Intrinsic) and external (Extrinsic) factors that will
have an effect on the aging process. Intrinsic ageing is when it is genetic or
chronological ageing and extrinsic is environmental or their lifestyle. There is a range of
internal effects including hormones and physiological decline, however, this essay will
focus on genetics and ethnicity. The external factors that will be discussed are sun
exposure and lifestyle.
Genetics play a major part on skin ageing, Your genetic factors dictate the rate at which
the ageing process processes (Eucerin, 2017). Therefore, it can influence how quickly
the skin ages and how it affects the overall skin condition due to the skin being made of
so many proteins, for example, the basic structure of the skin is collagen which is a
protein and also melanin which gives the skin its pigment (Siddons, 2009). As well as,
Signs of aging [sic] occur when the fibroblast cells that step in to repair damaged
collagen fibers [sic] cannot complete their work a product of aging [sic] cells
(Dermascope, 2017). Once you start to get older your body s collagen slows down,
which provides the skin with its strength and flexibility. The body also replaces skin
cells at a slower rate as you age this and other influences cause the skin the to result in
wrinkles, freckles and age spots (Oz, 2017). Additionally, keeping hydrated is essential

Mashiach With The Oil Of Kingship
The third text from cave 4, as mentioned in the previous paragraph, is 4Q458 a
fragmentary narrative that possibly offers a messianic reference. In the two legible
fragments, there are two expressions that are tantalizing: the beloved as observed in
lines 1 and 2 that refer to the same personage, as well as anointed with the oil of
kingship in the second fragment that refers to the Royal Messiah . The editor of this
fragment speaks of a war against the Gentiles (the uncircumcised) and on who is anointed
(mashiach) with the oil of kingship . As mentioned, the chosen word of use here is
mashiach, which stands for anointed one and is important in both to the Old and New

Brook. This version was filmed in black and white and follows the events of the book
very closely. The second adaption came twenty seven years later in 1990, which was
directed by the American Harry Hook. The second adaption did not quite follow the
novel in terms of symbolism, the beast and the overall theme while the first adaption was
more faithful to the novel.

This film was made by an English director, and its cast was entirely English. By having
an English cast, it truly represents the novel in the sense of nationality. All the characters
in the novel were well represented accurately in the film. Compared to American films,
English films are more subtle in their film making. They will not show you the whole
picture, but they will hint towards it. In the film, it is only hinted that Wilfred was hurt
by Jack s tribe, but never shown or confirmed.
Peter Brook is the director of the 1963 version of Lord of the Flies. He used many
different cinematic features in his film. The montage at the beginning of the film was
expertly used to show the contrast between the innocence of the schoolboys, to the
evil of war and destruction with the images of rockets and explosions. The montage
explains how the plane crashed, with images of a plane entering huge, dark clouds.
This was followed by images of lighting and the sounds of thunder. During the
montage, there is a choir singing a Greek song which is called Lord have Mercy. This
is an ominous hint that that something will go horribly wrong on the island. To show
the thoughts of his characters, Peter Brook used actions to convey thoughts. When
Ralph is talking at an assembly, the sound of wood being hacked at is heard. It is
revealed that Jack is hacking at his spear with a knife. This conveys the thoughts of Jack,
it shows the violence and savagery that he will be apart
Daniel Berrigan Research Paper
Daniel Berrigan was a well known anti war activist as well as a Jesuit priest. He was born
in Virginia, Minnesota, on May 9, 1921. He was the fifth of six boys and grew up on a
farm in Syracuse, New York. Daniel was the weakest of all his brothers of the boys
and always dreamed of being a Catholic priest ( Daniel J Berrigan ). He believed that
the church prohibited his father s poor treatment of his mother and he wanted to be a
priest. In Lewis article it says, After high school he earned a bachelor s degree in 1946
from St. Andrew on Hudson, a Jesuit seminary in Hyde Park, N.Y., and a master s
from Woodstock College in Baltimore in 1952 (Lewis). At the very early age of 18 he
decided to join the Society of Jesus. Daniel was ordained a priest as an unfinished man,
with only 13 years of training. He was not the only one in his family to join the
priesthood, as his younger brother Philip also joined.... Show more content on

The Priest s Warning, From Strange Stories From A Chinese...
Punishment has always been a powerful incentive against doing wrong, and because of
this, it is no surprise that the concept of hell is often used as a moral device by many
religions across the world. From firm scoldings to everlasting pits of fire and brimstone,
living things tend to avoid the promise of pain. As a reoccurring theme in various forms
of media, punishment is commonly used to reprimand bad behaviour while bringing
attention to what good behaviour should be. Therefore, many religions use these harsh
threats in literature to promote their ideologies and shape world cultures. Buddhism,
though unique in many aspects, is no exception. Here we will focus on a particular
piece called The Priest s Warning, from Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio, and how
it employs the idea of Buddhist hell as a moral device.
Where Buddhism may differ from western religions (for example, Christianity), is its
focus on a different kind of salvation: salvation from life itself. Though Buddhists believe
in reincarnation, they see rebirth as an undesirable cycle. Their main goal is to reach
enlightenment and enter Nirvana, which is the detachment from the cycle of death and
rebirth [1]. Buddhism s central ideas revolve around Four Noble Truths: living is suffering
, desire causes this suffering, there is a way out of suffering, and the way out is by
following the Noble Eight fold Path which is described as eight specific ways in which
one can work toward achieving that same
City Of Detroit Case Study
On Thursday, July 28, 2013, Detroit, Michigan became the largest city in America ever
to file for bankruptcy. Established in 1701, Detroit was founded by the French explorer
Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac and a party of settlers. None of these men had any idea that
Detroit would evolve into the thriving hub of the car industry in centuries to come. In
1756, the smallpox virus and a famine threatened the many settlers in Detroit, but did not
decimate the population enough to cause the cityto collapse. In 1802, Detroit officially
became a chartered city. In the United States, a charter city is a city in which the
governing system is defined by the city s own charter document rather than by state,

The 12th Street riot, one of the biggest riots in American history, took place in the city.
The riot put Detroit police against inner city black residents, and escalated to National
Guard troops being called in to fight residents. The tragic riot cost the lives of 43
people, 342 were injured, and an astounding 7,200 civilians were arrested. 60,000
black residents of Virginia Park neighborhood were packed into only 460 acres and
were ready to explode. One night, an illegal nightclub near the neighborhood was
hosting a party on the corner of 12th street when police arrived to arrest those in the
establishment. When one bottle crashed on the street, the police showed no interest; but
when many glass bottles were thrown at patrol cars at once,, heads turned. The riot
escalated rapidly throughout the following hours and days until order was finally
restored multiple days later. This was the event that caused people to realise that Detroit
was on a downward spiral and was traveling

Growth In The Prince And Jack London s The Call Of The
Wild
When pondering the question of how conflict leads to growth through the lens of
literature and historical fact, the slow evolution of humankind in a direction towards
progress bespeaks a clear message; adversity leads to growth. Adversity is defined as
opposition to a position; a contrary direction or harmful continued difficulty and
misfortune. The NY times article Do natural disasters stimulate economic growth?,
Niccolo Machiavelli s book, The Prince, and Jack London s The Call of the Wild,
provide strong affirmation that hardship leads to development. Adversity in Renaissance
age Italy led two well educated men, Thomas More and Nicholo Machiavelli, to banter
the need for religious, political, and social change in the 1500 s. Shown in... Show more

Similar to Machiavelli, England s Thomas More found himself embedded in the
spiritual affairs of the Catholic church. A famed text of More s, Utopia, uses its pages
to create a completely new society where More asks his readers, will anyone ask to
compare these fair arrangements in Utopia with the so called justice of other
countries? in which I m damned if I can see the slightest taste of justice or fairness.
(More 62) When More was faced with a daily adversity of English life in 1516, he
worked to grow past his own religious and political beliefs in order to solve these
problems and replace them with a better option.
It is hard to call the destruction lying in the wake of several natural disasters of 2017
anything but adverse. However, as early as 2008, some have stated these tragedies may
hold a bright side. In fact, an entirely new field of study has surfaced; disaster economics.
The New York Times writer Drake Bennett explored this in his article, Do natural
disasters stimulate economic growth? Bennett stated that some economists argue that
despite the widespread destruction they leave behind... [disasters] can spur economic
growth (Bennett 2008) and went on to explore several historic examples. Horrible
Taliban And Women s Rights Essay
It is important to note that the Taliban was a Pashtun Islamic Fundamentalist group in
the 1990 s. It was started by Islamic fighters who resisted the Soviet occupation of
Afghanistan and Pakistan from 1979 to 1989. Not only was it comprised of Islamic
fighters but also were joined by younger Pashtun tribesmen who had studied in Pakistani
seminaries. The Talibangained support in the beginning during the post Soviet era by
promising to stabilize the country of Afghanistanalong with the rule of the law after the
previous four years of conflict starting in 1992 and ending in 1996 with rival mujahedeen
groups. With gaining this support, the Taliban was able to spread throughout
Afghanistan. In November of 1994 the Taliban entered Kandahar... Show more content on

Many women during this time faced harsh treatment characterized by abuse and lack of
equality. Although the Taliban feel that their treatment of women is justifiable through
Sharia law however, there is nothing within that states that this treatment was justifiable.
It is said that the treatment of women at the time was consistent with treatment in rural
areas of Afghanistan that had been going on for centuries. Women in Afghanistan
before the Soviet occupation and the Taliban was fairly progressive and in comparison
to other countries such as the United States and England. They were able to vote and
dressed in what many would call the latest fashion at the time and not on the
conservative side. After the occupation of the Soviets and into the rule of the Taliban,
women were not being granted the same status as men. It is common that when most
people around the world think of women in Afghanistan they think of a woman in full
body burqas. However, before the conflict in 1970 s Afghanistan had been relatively
progressive. According to the article Women in Afghanistan: The Back Story, Women
were able to vote in 1919 and in 1950s purdah, gender separation, was abolished and in
1960s a new constitution brought equality to many lives and political participation.
Through Soviet occupation in the 1970s, civil conflict between Mujahedeen groups, and
government forces this progression changed. Under Taliban rule, women in Afghanistan
had their rights increasingly rolled back. The Taliban once in rule enforced their own
version of Islamic Sharia law. This began with women and girls being banned from:
going to school or studying, from working, from leaving the house without a male
chaperone, from showing their skin in public, from accessing healthcare delivered by
men, and from being involved in politics or speaking publicly. These bans were a
complete change from what rights were
Greek Symbols
Interesting Hidden Symbols Found in Greek Agriculture In Greek agriculture there
was many offerings that were often given to people who were respected such as Gods.
These offerings consisted of human body parts and animal parts were also used after
being sacrificed. Most of these offerings were said to have been carried by maidens
that would place these objects in baskets and carry them above their heads. The reason
why many come to the conclusion that offerings consisted of body parts is because the
temples/buildings that were built back then, look like the objects that were offered. In
fact, some of the human body parts were also seen as trophies. Thus, examples of the
offerings that were used back then in Greek agriculture are shown in temples and
buildings.
Furthermore, two interesting offerings that were shown in temples were dentils and
heads/skulls from the human body. These offerings might have been built outside the
temples for a reminder of what kinds of objects the God accepted. According to the Greek
philosopher Theophrastus, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to an online article, sheep, goats, pigs, and cattle, as well as fish and birds,
were offered to the gods. Most of the animals who were sacrificed at the time would
get their throat slit by the priest, or the person that was in charge of the ritual. No
body parts of the animal went to waste because they were either eaten or offered up to
the gods. In addition, animal remains were also displayed on temples and buildings.
For instance, eggs, bird feet and horns were spotted on temples or buildings. At this
time, you begin to realize that anything that was sacrificed back then was offered up to
the gods and it did not matter whether it was an animal or human. Thus, after animals
being sacrificed, they were also offered to the gods and the proof we have today is that

Striving towards Equal Right for the Disabled in Brunei
According to World Health Organization (WHO) disabled people have low health
condition, poor academic achievements, less economic opportunities and high level of
poverty (2011). The Brunei government is strongly committed to ensure that people with
disabilities have equal rights in the country (Mahmud, 2013). There are three
improvements that need to be considered: Financial support, improving awareness for the
public and improving the infrastructure.
Financial capabilities are major factors to provide sufficient resources and comfortable
place for the disabled people. Expenses such as labour, salaries, medical, rent and
transportation cost. SMARTER (one of the autism facilities in Brunei run privately) is
currently having a financial crisis in their organization. Although SMARTER has
received about half a million dollars of donation it is still not sufficient to cater the
$45,000 expenses per month (Amanda, 2014). The half a million of donation obtained
can only support SMARTER for 11 months maximum according to the monthly
expenses they stated. SMARTER relies on its own shop and donation from others such
as banks and the government. As stated the monthly expenses incurred by the company
is $45,000 and to rely solely through donations and a small shop will not solve the
problem. Since the organization is a social corporate company, which means that the
company is not aiming for profits but to help the society, a question will arise from this.
Will it be better off managed
Women Should Not Go Into Combat
This debate on whether women should be in military combat roles or not, has no in
between, one either believes women should go into combat or one believes women
should not go into combat. The two extremes sides of this argument offer numerous
reasoning as to why they stand with their beliefs but the reasons which make a valid
argument are as follows. For the positive side which believes women should go into
combat, say that this decision should be dependent on a person s skills and abilities to
perform under these condition rather than their genderidentity. Aside from this, there
have been many recent developments in warfare technologies which accommodate to
females bodies and many of these women can meet the physical and mental standards that
are required for combat fighting.
Moreover, the negative side argues that women are not as physically or mentally capable
when compared to men. Also that their weakness will have a significant impact on them
as a person but as well as the military in general. Stating that there are no modifications
in actual combat, where there can be in training settings. Those opposed to women in the
military also mention that there is the possibility of sexual assault within the infantry
teams.
Emotional and Mental Stability
With background information on the history and the constantly changing policies, you
see that the debate over this issue leans towards the negative side, where women should
not be in combat. Yet, with all this
Comparing Poems The Ball And We Real Cool
Various speakers reflecting on the same topic provide a change in perspective, and
give different levels of insight to the audience. This can be represented when
comparing the poems The Ball and We Real Cool . The Ball, told in a perspective of a
matured man contemplating his journey, brings a more reflective approach to coming
of age than the speaker in We Real Cool , who speak about the subject in the present
tense. Additionally, the speaker in The Ball is singular while the speaker in We Real
Cool is clearly a group. This difference conveys a separation between a specific
experience and a collective opinion. These varying speakers present two different
avenues for analyzing the experience of coming of age. The Ball is a poem

  • 2. Analysis Of The Movie Network Right now, it s an industry dedicated to one thing. Profit. This quote by author, Paddy Chayefsky, perfectly sums up the motives behind the movie Network. From hiring soothsayers to risking a man s mental heath for the sake of a successful television program, the characters in Network have truly been blinded by fame and top ratings. This satire fiercely describes just how far a televisionnetworkwill go to achieve such accomplishments. In the 1950 s, television changed American entertainment from showing sitcoms to serious news broadcasts. In the movie Network, the setting revolves around a news station, where the ratings are suffering and the workers are growing desperate for attention. Television executive, Diana Christensen, is tirelessly racking her brain for the next big hit, and her ideas are deemed crazy by more than just one coworker; however, in desperation, her ideas are put to the test on live television. Even after news anchor, Howard Beale, has a mental breakdown on camera, Christensen fights to keep him on the air because of the rising success the network found in his entertaining yet uncontrollable rants about a failing society (Ebert). Eventually, Christensen manages to secure Howard Beale s very own television series featuring a soothsayer to predict future shows and Beale himself to demand people to take control of their lives. Almost all of his shows ended in him falling flat on the ground from fainting; this reveals the toll that the program is

Post-Slavery And Economic Development In The American South The post slavery economic development or lack thereof which ever maybe the case will be explored by looking at three different articles. This paper will summarize these three articles then it will compare and contrast these three articles. the purpose of comparing and contrasting these three articles will be to see on what points do these authors agree on, what arguments do they make that are similar, and what arguments or points do they disagree on. This paper will no attempt to sway the reader one way or another it will be strictly a summary of the three articles followed by a compare and contrast of the same articles. The first article is titled, Class Structure and Economic Development in the American South, 1865 1955 . Here the author talks about economic development in the post slavery American south. The author says that most people never attempt to understand the economic development in a methodical way. there are two approaches for looking at the post civil war and therefore post slavery development one is neoclassical economic theory and the other is an approach that analysis the classes of the people who make up the southern states. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The abolition of slavery destroyed much of the capital that the south had and neither the slaver owner or slaves were compensated for their losses. The loss of capital according to the article was not the only way slavery reduced the value of assets. The labor shortage created by emancipation had the effect of making a useless resource thereby having another form of capital reduced. The result of all this was that the post war southern economy was stagnant and fell into a slow and painful growth well into the twentieth century. The article mentions the failure of capitalism revive the southern economy in the post slavery
  • 4. Jane Eyre And Blanche Foil Jane Eyre is the main character on the novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte who did not have strong personality while living with aunt Mrs. Reed and her children, but after Jane was sent to the Lowood Institution, a charity school for girls. During school years, about eight years, Jane became mature, and accepted the harsh truth about life; knew how to draw, to play piano; learned French, and was loved by everyone by her sweet personality. Blanche Ingram, on the other hand, is more of very showy but not genuine. Mr. Rochester knew, however, marrying Jane will be too easy, and she will because of his social status and money. So instead of making Jane s life easier, Mr. Rochester plays small affair with Blanche which eventually turned out into marriage.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Blanche is very tall but has a proud, arrogant manner, a mocking air, and a satirical laugh. She tends to pretend expertise in subjects about which she actually knows nothing, especially when Blanche speaks to her snobbish mother. Blanche serves as a character foil to Jane: her artificiality makes Jane s frankness all the more evident and attractive. Mr. Rochester is aware in Blanche s interest in him which is for his money, but he starts pretending that he is in love with her in order to make Jane jealous. Mrs. Fairfax is fond of Blanche because of her beauty, and also her appearances in the public. Mrs. Fairfax said to Jane that Blanche was admired not only for her beauty, but for her accomplishments which was her act of singing, and duet with Mr. Rochester. And Mrs. Fairfax favors Blanche to be Mr. Rochester bride rather than Jane because of the social status each girl has, and how a governess can marry someone on who she

Wendy s Grill Menu Analysis While Becky s Grill may not be the most affordable place to dine, it is an excellent place to eat because it has great consistent tasting food, and an original menu selection. The dish that I picked from Becky s Grill, is the four ounce Monster Burger. The burger consists of two freshly steamed buns, a four ounce patty, fresh leaves of lettuce, and a thin slice of tomato. Each time I have ordered the dish it has exceeded prior expectations and has continued to get better. The only downside about eating at this restaurant is the price range. Seeing how it is local, paying for certain items on the menu are a bit pricy, however, it is all homemade. An added perk is that they have their own southern twist on items. For instance, Macaroni
  • 6. Max Weber Research Paper Biography of Weber: Max Weber was born in Erfurt, Thuringia in 1864 into a prominent and well off family (weber 1930) was brought up in Berlin. He came from the German upper middle class. His father was a great figure in politics of the National Liberal Party and his mother was a house wife. He was brought up in an era after the world war I where the dramatically changes pushed for industrial revolution. Max took up law, but left it before time in life. Also because of this situation, people in the organisation will not be able to lead a creative and happy life, as they would be forced to work in a highly rational society with rigid rules and without able to change it. Weber (1958) showed how this exact materialistic, individualist ethic was used to develop effectiveness, productivity, wealth formation, and self interest. Weber s challenge with most important contemporary management scholars, was to develop a new approach to management and organization grounded in the teachings of new prophets. The worth of such professionals for the organisation will depend on the accumulation of knowledge and understanding that has generated skills, necessary for the work in an organisation. Management theory of Weber: Weber professed many theories, a few are mentioned below: Theory on Capitalism: In social capitalism, huge public institutions evened the financial volatility of capitalist markets by sharing risk and reduced social instability by creating group employment within their widespread lower rungs of the organisations. The charismatic leadership: According to Weber, the Charismatic leader is one who is extraordinary, who appears only in chaotic times. He is not the officer or boss, but rather from among the group. Thus, a charismatic leader emerges swiftly in times of want, uncertainty or suffering.
  • 7. Persuasive Essay Against Gun Control A law that would outlaw guns would be a more of a disadvantage to the law abiding citizens than it would be to the criminals. If a law like that would be enacted, the criminals would not stop carrying guns but the pleasant citizens of the United States would. Currently, there is three major laws that prohibit specific firearms. The National Firearms Actof 1934 restricts citizens from possessing automatic weapons, hand grenades and other powerful arms. There is another federal law, The Gun Control Act of 1968, which prohibits mail order sales of weapons, and requires anyone in the gun selling business to be licensed. Finally the third is the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993 which requires dealers to perform background checks.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to jacob Davidson for Time magazine, For one, we need to remember that we ve had a remarkable decrease in the U.S since early 1990 s, even though the number of firearms has increased by about 10 million every year (Davidson). For decades, things have been impressively outstanding than it was before 1990. Even though there had been an increase in firearms, almost 10 million a year, gun crime has not been much of an issue, in that it has decreased. In contrast, the Second Amendment was drafted in order to protect the militias to own and use firearms, not the citizens. According to an article about gun control, all law articles on their Second Amendment from 1888 to 1959 stated that an individual right was not guaranteed (Should More). But the Second Amendment was created in order to protect all able bodied men the right to own guns so they could have the choice of joining the militia. A pro con article about gun control states, According to the United States Code, a militia is composed of all able bodied males at least 17 years of age.... (Should More). All able bodied individuals have the right to own guns with intention to become law abiding citizens of the United States. As stated in the Second Amendment, all able bodied men that is eligible for service in the militia, is allowed to own a firearm. If more gun control laws were enacted then, it would

Community Interview Research Paper years and I simply just had to ask her permission to undergo a lighter tone of an interview and to answer some questions with me here and there and without hesitation she kindly agreed. In preparation, I wanted the scenery of the interviews to be in a cool, comfortable, and collective environment; therefore, the settings of our encounters included her coming over to my house and us just hanging out in the backyard, with my dog. Although our recent encounters throughout the last week of June where due to the cross cultural experience, it personally wasn t much work on my part to be in the company of a dear friend. Nevertheless, content analyses of the research on lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) issues in psychology have indicated that the most common method of assessing the sexual orientation of participants is to request self identification as a gay man, a lesbian, a bisexual, or a heterosexual (or some variation), often by forced choice formats (Worthington Reynolds, 2009). Awareness of minor assumptions that are used on a day to day basis need to be continuously monitored. Currently, we have recent terminology we use in our counseling program now, but in the next five years when we as students are hopefully in the field are now in a lapse of new and updated acceptance of terminology. Keeping an open mind along with staying current should service counselors into fundamentally staying active and progressive in the LGBT
  • 9. Design And Functionalism Of The Industrial Revolution The industrial revolution was the transition to industrialisation and urbanisation, which took place from the 18th to 19th centuries. Industrialisation shifted the manufacturing of goods from small quantities using basic machinery at home, to mass production with the mechanisation of machinery. The task of drafting a product was no longer left with the craftsmen, thus the creation of the design profession. (Hauffe, 1998, p.11) Mass production and series production is defined as the large quantity manufacturing of goods, using assembly line techniques and standardised designs. Manufactured products that contributed to a high turnover use new sales methods, including catalogs, sales representatives and advertising. In addition, the ability to create more cost effective and accessible products. The term form follows function is the principle that the shape of an object should be based upon its intended purpose. Modernist design and functionalism supporters assumed two different perspectives of the term. 1. The form of an object had only suit its function without unnecessary details. 2. The process behind manufacturing products needs to be simple and straight forward using a metric language, produced of high quality and long lasting These assumptions create a clear perspective of the intent to design with the clear point of focus in terms of function, to create an object of simplification. About 250 Km west of Melbourne, the volcanic plains of Victoria s Western district hosts a geologically significant area called the Grampians National Park. The Grampians National Park is an unprotected bushland well known among hikers and rock climbers. The Mckenzie Falls is one of Victorias largest falls and is the site to the reconstructed Mckenzie Falls Gorge Trail by Hansen Partnership and Parks Victoria. (Ricardo, 2014) ACCESS There was very little existing site material available, the designers documented the site walking and mapped the area from scratch to propose possible path alignments along the way. Rather than crossing the river below the falls and leading up to the ridge line as it did before, the path would take visitors through the base of the valley, as close to the river as possible. (Ricardo, 2014) To minimalize the linearity of the project heavier and more visually dominant elements were discarded. Thus the presence of the trail is not always constant and it blends in with the surroundings. The bridges and the elevated walkways meander through a cool microclimate created by a field of fallen rocks lying next to an escarpment wall. We wanted the bridge to follow the escarpment wall and gave instruction to make sure the rock wall was always within arm s length. explains Anton Malishev, senior landscape architect at Hansen Partnership. The shape of the bridge thus is not
  • 12. Discourse On Method And Meditations On First Philosophy Discourse on Method and Meditations on First Philosophy was written by Rene Descarte. His main focus was to decide if God was real or not and if God created him or not. In Meditation Five, Descarte states that God existed because he has prior knowledge of materialistic things. He states that he recalls objects without prior knowledge of them, and that everyone perceives all the objects in the same type of manner. In the end of the mediation he closes it out by stating that, we all can think of non existent things with the same idea of what they are without them existing, thus proving that God exists in some manner, creating us with this information. In Meditation Five, Descarte focuses on proving God s existenceby considering the properties belonging to God s essence. In this paper Descarte is trying to prove the existence of God through his pre existing knowledge of objects and ideas. He is wrong due to his examples being based on the big picture and not the small details that prove his ideas wrong. Descarte was big on the idea of morals and God. In meditation five, Descarte states when I examine those ideas of corporeal objects that are distinct and not confused, I find that these are properties concerned with extension and duration: length, breadth, depth, size, shape, position, and movement . What he means here is that basically everything has its own special characteristics and its own place in the world. Next, he states that although they seem to be already in
  • 13. Ninotchka And Communism In Ernst Lubitsch s As one of the early controversial Soviet American made films, Ninotchka (1939) was one of the first American movies which under a satirical cover and light romance, depicted the Joseph Stalin rule of Soviet Russia as being harsh and melancholy. Ernst Lubitsch s comedy starring Greta Garbo as a stern Russian who falls in love, was deemed a great success in the United States and Western Europe whereas it was banned in the Soviet Unionand its satellites. At the time, New York Times newspaper started their review blatantly stating Stalin won t like it (Nugent, 1939). This representation was considered taboo to Western culture at the time challenging political and social norms of the era. Most viewers however, chose to ignore many of these representations of communism and focus on the bland monotonous imprisonment of many soviet people. Eggert suggests that The protagonist s stifled sexuality is represented by her political identity, and only when she sheds her Communist role can she fulfill herself sexually (Eggert, 2013). This sexual restriction attempts to embody soviet communism of the time, an early robotic Ninotchka allows herself to escape the constraints her country has placed on her to complete her current quest for love. This representation implies love, happiness, and fulfillment cannot exist under soviet rule and can only be pursued through the capitalistic realm. Other instances of the extreme contrast of the two systems can be noted when Ninotchka orders her food from a Parisian restaurant asking for raw beets and carrots. The baffled server responds Madame, this is a restaurant, not a meadow. Yet another

Essay On Improving Access To Legal Services Improving Access to Legal Services in the United States The U.S. Congress established the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) in 1974 to promote equality in the justice system. Today, the access and affordability of legal services, especially for the poor, continues to be an issue. According to the LSC s 2017 Justice Gap Report, Eighty six percent of the civil legal problems faced by low income Americans in a given year receive inadequate or no legal help (Legal Services Corporation, 2017, p. 30). Some solutions include the improvement of funding and structure of public defender services to ensure each litigant receives proper attention, the reformation of the justice system to avoid disproportionate effects on the poor, collaboration with other services to expand accessibility, and increased promotion and incentives for attorneys to provide pro bono services. In the 1963 U.S. Supreme Court case Gideon v. Wainwright, the Sixth Amendment s right to counsel became incorporated, and as a result, those who are indigent are entitled to a court appointed attorney to represent them in any courtroom. This landmark case led states to enhance their public defense systems because public defenders assist in the fight against crime and contribute to the effective operation of programs that may help reduce recidivism, thereby increasing the effectiveness of our justice system (Fabelo, 2001, p. 2). Ensuring that states allocate necessary funding and resources to their respective public defender systems will reduce individual public defenders caseloads. Policymakers examining the needs of public defender systems should use personal testimony from people who utilized the service, verdict and sentencing data, and public opinion polls as measures of

Scotland s dream wasn t realistic, though. The union ended up splitting the money, and Scotland started to dislike being in union with England even more when they have an open chance to succeed if they were on their own. The fact that Margaret Thatcher wasted a lot of the North Sea oil revenues on paying for tax cuts and unemployment benefits when it could have been used to rebuild industry or national infrastructure, didn t help on the Scott s anger. In 1979, The Scots become asked whether they wanted a Scottish parliament or not, 52% of voters said they did but the number was too low to accept it. • 16. Causes And Negative Effects Of Computer There has been an immense progression in the development of technology in the past 30 years. Many good things have come of this, such as cell phones, computers and television. However, I have recently come across an article of a new, advanced computer. Essentially, scientists made a computer using DNA so it can supposedly be faster and solve more complex problems. This seems very concerning. In fact, the more that I think of it, the worse I realise it is. Could these types of computers cause more harm than good? Let s take a look. First of all, by adding DNA to a computer, it essentially becomes a human. Our DNA is what gives us our traits that make us unique from each other. If we make more of these computers, how long will it be before they take over, or cause a nuclear war? Think about it: these computers could communicate between each other and plan an attack, without us even knowing. Not much research has been done on the specific capabilities of this type of machinery. They are a serious threat, as they are much smarter than us. Humans will be powerless in the wake of an army of supercomputers. They will be one step ahead of us on everything. Also, what happens when these computers get into the hands of the wrong people? A country such as Russia or North Korea could do some serious damage with such sophisticated technology. They could discover some classified information, causing a third world war. Either the computers will declare war against us or the computers will
  • 17. Causes And External Factors Of Extrinsic Ageing This essay will focus on the internal (Intrinsic) and external (Extrinsic) factors that will have an effect on the aging process. Intrinsic ageing is when it is genetic or chronological ageing and extrinsic is environmental or their lifestyle. There is a range of internal effects including hormones and physiological decline, however, this essay will focus on genetics and ethnicity. The external factors that will be discussed are sun exposure and lifestyle. Genetics play a major part on skin ageing, Your genetic factors dictate the rate at which the ageing process processes (Eucerin, 2017). Therefore, it can influence how quickly the skin ages and how it affects the overall skin condition due to the skin being made of so many proteins, for example, the basic structure of the skin is collagen which is a protein and also melanin which gives the skin its pigment (Siddons, 2009). It s the story of a group of boys stranded on an island with no adults. Since then, it has had two film adaptions. The first adaption was produced in 1963, directed by the Englishman Peter Brook. This version was filmed in black and white and follows the events of the book very closely. The second adaption came twenty seven years later in 1990, which was directed by the American Harry Hook. This film was made by an English director, and its cast was entirely English. By having an English cast, it truly represents the novel in the sense of nationality. All the characters in the novel were well represented accurately in the film. Compared to American films, English films are more subtle in their film making. They will not show you the whole picture, but they will hint towards it. In the film, it is only hinted that Wilfred was hurt by Jack s tribe, but never shown or confirmed. Peter Brook is the director of the 1963 version of Lord of the Flies. He used many different cinematic features in his film. The montage at the beginning of the film was expertly used to show the contrast between the innocence of the schoolboys, to the evil of war and destruction with the images of rockets and explosions. The montage explains how the plane crashed, with images of a plane entering huge, dark clouds. This was followed by images of lighting and the sounds of thunder. During the montage, there is a choir singing a Greek song which is called Lord have Mercy. This is an ominous hint that that something will go horribly wrong on the island. To show the thoughts of his characters, Peter Brook used actions to convey thoughts. When Ralph is talking at an assembly, the sound of wood being hacked at is heard. It is revealed that Jack is hacking at his spear with a knife. This conveys the thoughts of Jack, it shows the violence and savagery that he will be apart

  • 23. The Priest s Warning, From Strange Stories From A Chinese... Punishment has always been a powerful incentive against doing wrong, and because of this, it is no surprise that the concept of hell is often used as a moral device by many religions across the world. From firm scoldings to everlasting pits of fire and brimstone, living things tend to avoid the promise of pain. As a reoccurring theme in various forms of media, punishment is commonly used to reprimand bad behaviour while bringing attention to what good behaviour should be. Therefore, many religions use these harsh threats in literature to promote their ideologies and shape world cultures. Buddhism, though unique in many aspects, is no exception. Here we will focus on a particular piece called The Priest s Warning, from Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio, and how it employs the idea of Buddhist hell as a moral device. Where Buddhism may differ from western religions (for example, Christianity), is its focus on a different kind of salvation: salvation from life itself. Though Buddhists believe in reincarnation, they see rebirth as an undesirable cycle. Their main goal is to reach enlightenment and enter Nirvana, which is the detachment from the cycle of death and rebirth [1]. Buddhism s central ideas revolve around Four Noble Truths: living is suffering , desire causes this suffering, there is a way out of suffering, and the way out is by following the Noble Eight fold Path which is described as eight specific ways in which one can work toward achieving that same

Women in Afghanistan before the Soviet occupation and the Taliban was fairly progressive and in comparison to other countries such as the United States and England. They were able to vote and dressed in what many would call the latest fashion at the time and not on the conservative side. After the occupation of the Soviets and into the rule of the Taliban, women were not being granted the same status as men. It is common that when most people around the world think of women in Afghanistan they think of a woman in full body burqas. However, before the conflict in 1970 s Afghanistan had been relatively progressive. According to the article Women in Afghanistan: The Back Story, Women were able to vote in 1919 and in 1950s purdah, gender separation, was abolished and in 1960s a new constitution brought equality to many lives and political participation. Under Taliban rule, women in Afghanistan had their rights increasingly rolled back. The Taliban once in rule enforced their own version of Islamic Sharia law. This began with women and girls being banned from: going to school or studying, from working, from leaving the house without a male chaperone, from showing their skin in public, from accessing healthcare delivered by men, and from being involved in politics or speaking publicly. These offerings consisted of human body parts and animal parts were also used after being sacrificed. Most of these offerings were said to have been carried by maidens that would place these objects in baskets and carry them above their heads. The reason why many come to the conclusion that offerings consisted of body parts is because the temples/buildings that were built back then, look like the objects that were offered. In fact, some of the human body parts were also seen as trophies. Thus, examples of the offerings that were used back then in Greek agriculture are shown in temples and buildings. The Brunei government is strongly committed to ensure that people with disabilities have equal rights in the country (Mahmud, 2013). There are three improvements that need to be considered: Financial support, improving awareness for the public and improving the infrastructure. Financial capabilities are major factors to provide sufficient resources and comfortable place for the disabled people. Expenses such as labour, salaries, medical, rent and transportation cost. SMARTER (one of the autism facilities in Brunei run privately) is currently having a financial crisis in their organization.
