Summary of The Embalming of Mr. Jones Essay

Summary of The Embalming of Mr. Jones
In the essay The Embalming of Mr. Jones, (1963), Jessica Mitford is describing a
procedure of embalming of a corpse. She writes that people pay a ton of money each
year, but not one in ten thousand has any idea of what actually takes place, and it is
extremely hard to find books and any information about this subject. She assumes that it
must be a reason for such secrecy, and may be if people knew more about this procedure,
they would not want this service after their death.
Mitford writes that embalming has long tradition in America, but it used to be performed
at home, and all members of the family had to witness the procedure. ... Show more

When this done, the corpse s face is heavily creamed to protect from chemical burns
from leakage that can happen, a body is covered and left for eight to ten hours to dry.
The next procedure involves cleaning and cosmetic restoration of the corpse. Before
starting restoration, the body is washed, shaved, and hair is shampooed. If the body
has missing limbs, they are replaced with molds of plaster. If the head is off, its edges
are trimmed and it is sewn to the torso. After cleaning and patching procedures, taking
care of swollen parts of the face, the body is dressed, and the mortician makes last
touches. He covers the corpse s skin with pleasantly colored make up, combs hair, and
manicures the hands.
The body is now ready for casketing. Like in any business, there are some special
secrets to casketing. According to Mitford, the right shoulder of the body has to be
depressed slightly to turn the body a bit to the right and soften the appearance of lying
flat on the back. Positioning the hands and feet is as important as everything that was
done before. There are special rubber blocks that are used for this purpose. Finally, the
body is placed in the casket as high as possible, and the mortician gives attention to the
last details.
Now the body is ready for exposition and moved into a slumber room. The last touch can
be done there; the favorite
Carol Rose Tattooing Analysis
In an article written by Carol Rose, who is a lawyer and journalist and serves as
executive director of the Americal Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts, she
discusses the right to free expression by the way of tattooing. In the article On pins and
needles defending artistic expression she expands on how, even though tattooing is an
ancient form of art that is practiced by many people, it was still illegal in many states
throughout America as of the date of the article being written. This article was published
to Boston.com April, 2010. When it was published tattooing had been illegal in
Massachusetts and many other states (Rose). She uses a claim of fact to justify her point
by showing that it took a case by the ACLU to change Massachusetts
Life Span Age Zero
Eric Ericksons theory is applied to different stages of the life span age zero to fithty
plus a important stage for a individual is between 12 and 18. The theory could be used
in relation to understand a individual s behaviours of a adolescent going in to care. At
this key stage the individual is going through a stage where they are finding there own
identity and they are face with confusion of the role they will have in life. A important
factor at this stage is developing identity through social interactions of good role models
this has paramount importance. The individual may have confusion when they have not
yet found there career path. A career path that gives them inner self worth, motivation
and belongingness of the role they have in
Effects of missing a doctors appointment
Effects of missing a Doctors appointment
No shows are a problem for both doctors and patients.
When a patient misses a doctor/nurse appointment, a follow up or specialist appointment
they are not receiving the care recommended by their doctor/nurse. This could result in
the patient becoming more ill and requiring additional time off work, laying an extra
burden on colleagues and bosses, there is also the risk of infecting others thus carrying
additional burdens as more staff may require time of work or extra appointments. All of
this holds a risk of missing deadlines, looking unprofessional and potentially disrupting
the training of personnel on unit.
Missing an appointment can also mean missing vital treatment, diagnosis or ... Show

As the population ever increases doctors are being over stretched more than ever
meaning every appointment slot is valuable, GP s are then forced to discharged patients
that repeatedly offend for missing appointments which leads to complaints, thus creating
more work for the surgery staff and doctors! Then when the said patient applies to re
register at the surgery or applies to register at a different surgery more man hours are
consumed.
On researching and writing about this subject it has become apparent that for the sake
of one missed appointment the effects are detrimental to a lot of factors and services. I
do feel that within the NHS a system should be in place to remind patients of an
appointment like a txting service as it would be a lot more cost effective than a missed
appointment, however in the military this is very unlikely to happen because of
restrictions and budgets. A missed appointment in the military is down to bad
administration, deploying last minute, compassionate leave or work/training
commitments, all I feel are sufficient excuses with the exception of bad administration
this is a personal issue that you as an individual should take steps to prevent, by the use
of a diary, setting an alarm on your phone or computer or simply writing it on a board
/piece of paper that you will see.

Code Talkers Research Paper
Indian code talkers are a group of bilingual Navajo speakers that were used to transfer
messages during World War II. The Marine Corps recruited many of these Code
Talkers to help them in the war. The Marines were so protective of the Code Talkers
that if there was any danger of the Indians being captured for the Japanese to learn the
code the Marines would have to kill the Code Talker. After the Navajo Code, also known
as the Type One Codes, were created the Marine Corps started a Code Talking School.
Along with learning the languagethey learned how to march in cadence, obey orders,
and keep their quarters very clean. It was here that over four hundred Navajos were
recruited as Code Talkers. The Code Talkers were from at least sixteen
Teaching A Foreigner Language And An Training Of
Teaching...
The aim of this essay is to reflect the experience of teaching a foreigner language and
an analyzation of teaching strategies. The first part of the essay is an evaluation of the
weaknesses and strengths of a Task Based Learning (TBL). Second part of the essay is a
self reflection on my peer teaching lesson and how I could apply in practice the
Presentation, Production, Practice (PPP) teaching strategy and how to improve my
teaching skills.
Firstly, the positive parts of the TBL lesson, the Teacher (T) was leading the lesson by
concentrating on the local needs of the Learners(L) (Tarone and Yule, 1990). To
investigate the L s knowledge, she used the life experience for learning the language
(Tarone and Yule,1991:5). It was a well chosen... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

According to Scrivener all these are pending on the language level of the Ls because the
activities should be more effective to use the language (Scrivener, 2010:58.). Ellis
suggesting the lesson could improve with more concentration of leading process than by
using fewer tasks. Furthermore, near to the end of the class the T could not balance the
interaction between herself and the Ls and it led to a diverted situation which expanded
the Teacher Talking Time (Stewick, 1980).
Following strategies, I learned during the observation that the best way is to shorten the
controlled practice to use more talking tasks. During the preparation of the lesson, T
need to keep the attention of the Ls, and give clear instructions, use tools such as
pictures and the writing on board because they would lose motivations to do the task
easily. Also, during the activity, the T s role is to monitor how the L could work together
in groups and individually. The most practical way of the seating is the horseshoe
arrangement (Gower, Phillips, and Walters, 2014).
In order to identify our strengths and weaknesses of our teaching skills, each member of
the class participated in a 10 minutes peer teaching lesson. My chosen language was
Hungarian and the aim of the lesson was to learn the different pronunciation some letters
which English does not include.
The main difficulties I had to face with were the planning the lesson and my anxiety. For

The Interior Of A Formal Courtroom
The interior of a formal courtroom glistens in a sepia hue. The bench overlooks the
room, with herringbone flags representing their country. A bar harshly splits the room
while oak tables rot as they pay homage to the solemn victors. Dueling jury boxes frame
the edges of the room their panels demarcated by sharp bezels and accompanied by stern
lecterns varnished an undistinguished gray.
Mirroring benches lay vacant, with the exception of two overwrought neighbors and one
anguished woman holding her 6 month old child. A corona of incandescence emphasises
the indents separating each weathered stave along the wall. Walking sounds can be heard
through the left wall of the courtroom.
[Two men enter through the leftmost door, Mark Wallace, J.D. and Stanley Kowalski
.
They are about thirty years old, sharply dressed in black formalwear. Mr. Wallace
carries an ebony suitcase overflowing with folders and documents. Stanley, guided by
the hand of Mr. Wallace, stands shoulder to shoulder with his defence attorney. Seconds
later the other side of the room mirrors the men s actions; Blanche, a fragile woman in
her thirties, enters the room accompanied by her prosecutor, Ella Stone. Mrs. Stone
withers with age as she struggles to cling on to the many folders in hand. Judge Ruth
Anthony sits herself center bench, accompanied by Bailiff Scott. She scans the room
from Stanley to Blanche, briefly stopping to inspect her carefully crafted mahogany

The prominence in relation to Asylum Seekers and Refugees has become a
contemporary issue within Australian society and has amounted vast controversy in the

in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster as found in the 1951 convention
relating to the status of refugees, in which Australiais a signatory to. Every refugeehas or

People smuggling involves the illegal entry of a person or persons across international

members of Indonesian smuggling rings. The issue claims that officials paid $30,000
to 6 crew members to turn back the vessel to Indonesia. Resource efficiency would
have been achieved with a much lower cost to send back the Asylum Seekers than to
process them onshore in Australia. The Criminal Code 1995 would be the most
effective legislation in this case. Section 73 of the Commonwealth Criminal Code
makes it an offence to provide material support and/or Resources which aid people

Reasons To Choose The Electoral College
The Electoral College is a body of electors who are selected by a larger group of
people. The smaller group, the electors, represent the votes for the larger group, or a
state. Each state gets a certain amount of electoral votes based on the population of the
state. A candidate gets all the electoral votes for the state if they win the majority of the
popular votes for that state. There are many reasons why the United States uses an
Electoral Collegeinstead of a popular electionand how to determine the majority.
The Constitution explains the Electoral College in Article II, Section I ( U. S. Electoral
College, Official What Is the Electoral College? ). The founding fathers established the
Electoral College instead of a popular election for President because they were afraid of
democracy. They thought one highly populated area would control the election (Miller).
They worried that the citizens would make an unfit decision, so they wanted to build a
foolproof system where citizens chose people to represent their ... Show more content on

Members of the House and Senate meet in the House chamber to conduct the official
tally of electoral votes, done by the Vice President ( Justice Network 2016 Election
Rules. ). The popular vote simply means a total of all votes from all states in America.
All the electoral votes for a state go to the candidate who gets the majority of the popular
for that one state ( Electoral Vote vs Popular Vote. ).
As confusing as the Electoral College may seem it is not very hard to understand after
reading just a little about it. This system was created so the small states get a more
equal amount of votes and one big state cannot control all the votes. They also tried to
make it easy for the electors having them only need to meet once a year. The founding
fathers believed this would be the fairest possible
Theories Of Second Language Acquisition
Theories of Second Language Acquisition
The approaches to Second Language Acquisition (SLA for short) have been changing and
developing throughout the years. Since the beginning of the study of Second Language
Acquisition, the approaches and theories of SLA have ranged from the Behaviourist
approach to SLA by an American psychologist Burrhus Frederic Skinner in 1940s 1950s
to Universal Grammar approach by an American linguist Noam Chomsky in 1960 1970s
to the Information Processing Model introduced by Barry McLaughlin in 1983 (Malone
2012: 1). The field of SLA research nowadays includes relatively new approaches such as
cognitive linguistics, as well as skill acquisition and various sociocultural theories,
connectionism and many more. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the Noam Chomsky s centre of interest was how a language is acquired generally,
his theory has rather been adapted to be suitable for interpreting second language (or
L2) acquisition than intended to be used directly in order to explain it (Menezes 2013:
405). According to Larsen Freeman and Long (1991), in his works Chomsky claimed
that when acquiring a language, whether it is the first or the second, the input a
person receives from the outside world through oral communication is deficient in that
it is filled with performance features, such as false starts, slips, fragments, and
ungrammaticality , as well as lacking so called negative evidence or information
which a learner needs in order to realize what is incorrect in a given language (Larsen
Freeman and Long 1991: 389). Additionally, the American linguist believed children
cannot learn a language as quickly, efficiently and effortlessly as they do without an
innate language faculty to guide them (Mitchell and Myles 2004: 55). Therefore,
Chomsky introduced the idea of a Language Acquisition Device (or LAD), an innate
ability to acquire and use language (Malone 2012: 2), along with the notion of Universal
Grammar (Field 2005: 21; Malone 2012: 2). Universal Grammar (UG for short) is a
theory which dictates that every human being is born with a system of categories,
mechanisms and constraints
Zebra In Life Of Pi
In the Life of Pi by Yann Martel, he cleverly creates two stories with completely
different characters that tell the same story. In the story with the animals: the zebra is
the injured Japanese sailor, the orangutan is Pi s mother, the hyena is the cook, and
the tiger is Pi. However, they seem to stand for more than just another character in a
story. Each of their different actions appear to represent a separate part of Pi s psyche.
In order to fully understand Pi, it is necessary to understand the animals and their
connection to him. The zebra is the first to die at the paws of the hyena, and stands for
Pi s initial fear of the open ocean and the animals on board. The orangutan, Orange Juice,
is said to have been kind, innocent, and maternal,
Allowing Marine Parks To Keep Marine Mammals
The main thesis presented in the essay is whether to allow marine parks to keep
marine mammals. The first main argument Bill Daly s presents is the fact that
individuals would rather see marine mammals in the wild life than captured inside a
tank. Bill Daly s states In fact, there are more places where they can be seen in wild
than places where they can be seen in captivity (Daly 2016, p.469). This argument
presents the fact that many of the places people visit have many areas to see marine
mammals in the wild, which is an option many tourist would prefer. The second
argument presented in the essay is that when it comes to research of marine mammals,
marine parks are only useful to study animals that are captured. Bill Daly states Dolphin
How Does Sean Penn Use Film Techniques In Into The Wild
Thoreau once said Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves following
this Chris Mccandless adventures off into the wild on a journey to discover himself
without being surrounded by a materialistic society or his family. Sean Penn delicately
crafted cinematography in the film into the wild makes use of .... to show the challenges
of family relationships, the power of words and self discovery. This is shown through the
use of many different filming techniques to emphasise a certain theme.
The director uses voice overs and cinematography perceptively to emphasise the
challenges of family relationships. In the film before Chris and his sister Carnie go to
the lunch with his parents he reads her a poem She s the wrong woman, he s the wrong
man. You are going to do bad things to children,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the film there are many examples of where Penn has shown the power of words but
one of the main examples shown throughout the movie is when his younger sister
Carnie does voice overs in the film. One of the main examples of this is when she said
this Chris measured himself and those around him by a fiercely rigorous moral code. He
risked what could have been a relentless lonely path but found comfort in the character of
book he loved... he could summon their words to suit any occasion, and he would often.
This displays that Chris can strongly relate to many of his favourite authors, who have
been able to capture Chris s emotions, thought and feelings in their words. An
establishing shot that also symbolises the power of words, would be when the shot of
Chris is just walked into the wild of Alaska in the opening scene. This establishing shot
creates the idea of loneliness, isolation and shows the purity in nature as he walks into
the wildness. These show us how our words can impact others in both a negative and
positive
Type 2 Diabetes Self Management Education
Type 2 diabetes self management education is necessary to prevent the development of
long term health complications associated with poor metabolic control in individuals
with diabetes (Kennedy, 2012). The national average of adults who attended diabetes
self management education changed little from 51.4% in the year 2000 to 57.4% in
2010 (Centers for Disease Control [CDC], 2014). A Healthy People 2020 goal is to
increase the number of adults who receive diabetes education by 10%
(HealthyPeople.gov, 2014). Type 2 diabetes has reached epidemic proportions,
accounting for 90 95% of diabetes cases. Complications related to uncontrolled diabetes
include kidneydisease, blindness, lower extremity amputations, stroke and heart
disease. Poorly controlled diabetes is one of the primary causes of kidney failure, with 10
20% of people with diabetes dying from kidney failure. Cardiovascular disease accounts
for 50% of deaths in people with diabetes (Kennedy, 2012).
Type 2 diabetes is known to affect 11.8% of the Hispanicpopulation compared to 7.1%
of non Hispanic Whites (Gonzalez, Berry, Davison, 2013). As of July 1, 2013, the
Hispanic population is the largest minority group in the United States (CDC, 2013). This
statistic, combined with the high prevalence of diabetes in the Hispanic population
makes diabetes self management a priority (Gonzalez et al., 2013). Hispanics are more
likely to develop end stage renal disease related to diabetes and they are also 50% more
likely to
Essay A Case for Vouchers and School Choice
A Case for School Choice
There is growing conflict over the nation s education policy. Indeed, this conflict remains
one of the few areas of divergence between our converging two party structure. Yet, as is
so often the case with pressing concerns in American politics, any real proposals have
been drowned under the Washington bureaucracy. Unfortunately, the nation can no
longer ignore the ever expanding education crisis plaguing the country, and Washington
must consider school choice as a remedy for the ailing public school system.

nation is failing miserably in its attempt to prepare youth for competition in the ... Show

Milwaukee and Cleveland, so far, have been the only cities to completely embrace such
programs. Unfortunately, these programs remain in their formative stages, and are
unable to offer any definitive evidence endorsing the concept.
Modern advocates of school choice have not failed to recognize the explicit success
stories which have often been associated with both private and parochial schools.
Regardless of location, socioeconomic status, or religious affiliation, such schools have
repeatedly proven to be better educators of America s youth children in such schools
score higher on standardized tests and are more likely to attend college. Amazingly, these
schools, especially Catholic schools, have achieved their success with noticeably smaller
budgets. All of this evidence leads to the question: How have such schools achieved their
substantial success?
Opinions concerning the reasons for such success commonly cite such abstractions as
values and discipline. Even those citing a core curriculum or a nurturing environment
fail to recognize the true reason why school choice programs will have such a profound
effect on the education system competition. Private schools have no public respirators
sustaining their existence when it becomes known that they have failed in their mission.
The choice is simple for private schools either educate well or close down. Faced with
only a single option if they fail in their mission, private schools have

Following that, this paper would bring about some context specific examples to contest
the universality of face, most notably the Collectivistic cultures such as Japan. Examining
other authors categorizations of positive and negative politeness in an attempt to identify
the confounding factor as well as looking into the context Brown and Levinson may have
used in the formulation of their Politeness theory which produced conflicting dichotomies
that might have been because of some untenable assumptions of that age. If the linguistic
community were to then accept the assumption as criteria for politeness, what then
should be done to clarify the dichotomies?
An intercultural interaction usually consists of three components, namely the Person
which consists of gender, age, socio economic status etc., Culture which encompasses the
values, beliefs, communication styles, the Situation which comprises of the setting of the
exchange, location, formality, and privacy. The three components does not mean that
intercultural communications can be so easily broken down into distinct categories, but

Comparing Perseus And Danae

King Acrisius of Argon had a daughter named Danae. Acrisius had hoped for a son
though. When Acrisius prays to the gods for a son, Apollo tells hime that he will not

Acrisius locks Danae in a house without a roof instead of killing her. While Danae is in
this house, Zeus Impregnates her. Danae has the son of Zeus, Perseus. When Acrisius
discovers that Danae has had a baby, he puts Perseus and his mother in a box, that he
will then put in the sea. With the help of Zeus, Danae and her son wash up an island
where a nice fisherman named Dictys helps the two. Danae and Perseus live with

Plato s Allegory Of The Cave
In Plato s, Allegory of the Cave , a key theory I found was the importance of gaining
knowledge. Plato uses an allegory to illustrate the dilemma facing the psyche in the
ascent to knowledge of the imperishable and unchanging forms (Fiero, 104). Based on
my research of the Republic, the allegory can reveal multiple hidden messages. Plato
describes in the Allegory, ordinary mortals who are chained within an underground
chamber, which according to Fiero, represents the psyche imprisoned within the human
body. These mortals can t look sideways, but rather only straight ahead. On top of this,
they also can t leave the cave. These prisoners are facing a cave wall that they can only
see shadows reflecting from a fire of what they imagine are men. These mortals have
been in this cave since childhood, which makes them believe the shadows themselves are
the men, not a shadow of an actual man. Again, according to Fiero, the light, represents
true knowledge, and the shadows on the walls of the cave represent the imperfect and
perishable imitations of the forms that occupy the world of the senses.
Plato introduces the Theory of Knowledge, which asserts the existence of a two level
reality, the first constantly changing particulars available to our senses, the other existing
of unchanging eternal truths understood by way of the intellect. According to Bettrand
Russel, when we have asked ourselves seriously whether we really know anything at all,
we are naturally led into an
Genetic Mistakes
There are two ways that that an organism can develop beneficial mutations, sexual
reproduction and whenever there are mistakes during DNA replication. There is an
enzyme call DNA polymerase that is in charge of proofreading the template strand. It

these mistakes are not corrected and lead to mutation. The benefits of mutation are that it

variation (Alleles) in a population. With these mutations that occur during DNA
replication and sexual reproduction, they introduce more desirable phenotypes in the
offspring. With time these organisms develop more features that help with their survival.

SUBJECT: MAVERICK LODGING CASE

In 1999, the Maverick Lodging company implements balanced scorecard to establish a

several attributes, such as tracking financial performance, tracking nonfinancial measures
and communicating franchisees and owners objectives of growth. For financial

For example, the colors and points system is complex because it is difficult to connect
colors and points to the bonus points and the 40% multiply factor may cause managers
confusions. Since it is hard to understand, the scorecard would have problems on
acceptance and the implementation process would be difficult. As a result, the scorecard
would not reach the maximum effectiveness and efficiency. The second problem is that
the scorecard contains uncontrollable factors for managers. For example, managers
performance will be measured by comparing the budgets and actual expenses. However,
hotel level managers have no right to determine the budget and this measurement is
unfair. As a result, many managers would be reluctant to accept the scorecard. The third
problem is that the scorecard is only implemented at the hotel general management level.
As stated in the case, the hotel general management is the last level of the company
management and they have no right to discuss the components of the scorecard. In
addition, the implementation process lacks communication between different levels of
managements. As a result, the scorecard represents the top managements thoughts and
may not be suitable for the bottom level management. Also, the lack of communication
may cause hindrance for accepting and implementing the scorecards.

The Splatterhouse Video
Before watching the clips, I was feeling content. I was not frustrated with anything or
anyone, I was calm and I just watched a few funny videos, which brought my mood up
even more. During the first video, immediately, my thoughts were about the quality of
the animation and the story line. As for the violence, I didn t like looking at it. I tried to
turn away a few times. I think that there was an excessive amount of gore that could
have been easily cut out, but it wasn t, because the viewers or the gamers like it.
The second video was a lot worse in my opinion. The Splatterhouse video had some
sort of story line beside the gore, but this video only showed a first point view of a
person killing people in many different ways. Because of the quality of the video, I didn
t actually see anything too graphic, but just the idea of people enjoying this game made
me a little scared for our society.
During the third video, I thought about how believable the scenes were. The lighting ...

Gore and violence doesn t interest me and I actually turn away from the screen any
time there s a graphic scene in a movie, which explains why these clips didn t have any
effect on me. The only clip that slightly interested me was Saw. I thought that the story
line was interesting, but I still wouldn t watch the actual movie, because of the violent
scenes that I would have to watch. Though I had almost no interest in these videos and
found most of the scenes repulsive, I caught myself on the thought that by the time I
was watching the fourth video, I got used to the violence portrayed in these videos. If
the first video made me want to turn away from the screen, the last video had no effect
on me at all. I believe that this explains the mere exposure theory. The only thing I did
was sit and watch a few clips, but the effect was that I became immune to the violence

Spending Time With Your Employees On Career Development
Essay
Not Spending Enough Time with Your Employees on Career Development
In beginning the first chapter of the book, Guan et al. (2016) ask the reader whether they
are spending time with their employees, and if they are, how much. Research findings by
Milgram (2011) state that the median time for the management to spend time with their
employees is three hours. In essence, that is half of six hours, which is the optimal time
for the engagement of the employees. Despite the leadership of the management,
spending time with employees is universally essential.
The study finding by Milgram (2011) further state that most organizational leaders do not
spend enough time with their employees. In fact, they sped half of what they should.
There are other that do not engage the employees in any form of interaction except when
they want them to complete specific duties. Besides the findings by Milgram (2011),
findings by Biron and Eshed (2016) reveal significant information. According to the
results of the study, of the employees that spend at least six hours of time with their
leaders a week, 29% of them feel more inspiration, 15%, motivation, 16% innovative, and
30%, more engagement. Indeed, that outlines the significance of the interaction between
an employee and the management.
However, when employees add more time to the six hours a week, there are diminishing
returns regarding the motivation, engagement, and inspiration. Therefore, while the
leaders spend time with them, they must ensure
Tanishq Essay
The Tanishq saga began in the early 1990 s, primarily fueled by the fabled Tata
entrepreneurial spirit and partly forced by circumstance. Tanishq was coined from a
combination of Tata/Tamil Nadu and Nishq (meaning a necklace of gold coins) and,
again, from Tan, meaning body and Ishq, meaning love. Tanishq has set up its 1,35,000
sq. ft production factory at Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Well equipped with modern machinery,
this factory functions as the production and sourcing base for the research of the jewelry
crafts in India. Every product here is painstakingly crafted to perfection to keep in line
with Tanishq s repute. Presently, this factory employs more than three hundred and
eighty highly skilled workforces, among who are award winning... Show more content on

To maintain its status, Tanishq continuously incorporates different strategies from time
to time to keep the fire of innovation burning, something that is most critical to today s
organization. Mission Vision It was launched in 1994 as a range of jewelry and
jewelry watches meant for the European American markets. But things began to change
globally around this time, and the West entered a protracted period of slow economic
growth followed by recession. Supplying jewelry to the Americans Europeans suddenly
no longer seemed an attractive proposition. Initially, the criticism for Titan s foray into
jewelry was loud and often bitter. Eventually, however, the critics were silenced.
Tanishq, today, is perhaps the only major Tata brand with a strong appeal for women.
Very importantly, Tanishq has brought to the market a whole new standard of business
ethics and product reliability, in the process bringing about a transformation in the
manner in which jewelry is bought and sold in India. It has created a revolution in the
Indian jewelry trade and in jewelry buying behavior, and continues to set new
parameters of excellence for others to follow. The Indian market, on the other hand,
opened its doors to the world, and was
Compare And Contrast Outback Steakhouse
Choosing a restaurant can be difficult at times since Houston has a plethora to choose
from. My family and I enjoy trying new restaurants to eat at, our personal preference is
steakhouses. There is nothing better than going to a steakhouse to enjoy a big, juicy,
mouthwatering cut of beef. Fogo De Chao and Outback steakhouse are two of our
favorite restaurants to choose from; but, Fogo De Chao has always been preferable. Both
share common traits, however, they differ in the foodthey serve, the atmosphere, and the
service provided. Upon arriving at either restaurant, you can tell there is a difference
amongst the atmosphere of both locations. Fogo De Chao is an upscale Brazilian
steakhouse with limited locations; and Outback Steakhouse is a more casual
Australian style restaurant. While I love Fogo de Chao, when we go we must dress
accordingly because of the atmosphere. If you re looking for fine dining look no
further! Fogo De Chao is an upscale restaurant with an exclusive location, typically
found in high traffic tourist areas. Don t get me wrong, I love outback steakhouse as
well. There are many perks to dining there, I never felt like I had to dress up because it...

I like Outback steakhouse because we could go at the last minute, and it is reasonably
priced on the other hand when going to Fogo De Chao we need to plan it out because
it is proper attire required, and since there are limited locations you must have a
reservation. Both restaurants have delicious food I just personally prefer Fogo De
Chao due to their uniqueness. Since this restaurant is an upscale restaurant it is pricey
therefore, my family and I do not go on a regular basis we usually only go on special
occasions. I have recommended this restaurant to many people and nobody has ever
been disappointed. If you have not tried Fogo De Chao yet make a reservation and go try

Theme Of Ignorance In Noah s Go Hitler
Naturally occurring ignorance in society is described by Robert Proctor as a ...sense of
native or originary state implies a kind of deficit, caused by the naivete of youth or the
faults of improper education or the simple fact that here is a place where knowledge has
not yet penetrated (Proctor 6). This naГЇve state described by Proctor s appeal to logos is
present through all societies and could be viewed to be a prompt for learning, leading to
knowledgereplacing the ignorance in the place. This natural state of ignorance is
exemplified through Trevor Noah s Go Hitler in which the kids involved simply don t
know the connotation behind the name Hitler. Noah s narrative depicts these kids
playing music at a Jewish school representing their culture at a cultural festival with a
lead dancer named Hitler.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The staff at the festival shut it down and an argument ensues because the people playing
music think that the Jewish audience disapproves of their cultural taste in music when
they are actually appalled by what they perceive is them praising Hitler. This situation
exemplifies Proctor s proposed natural ignorance in which the people playing music
didn t understand the issue due to the fact that they had a lack of knowledge about what
was happening in Europe during World War II. This conflict of interests in Noah s article
illuminates Proctor s main point that ignorance should not be accepted but rather
explored in order to grow into knowledgeable and leave the state of natural

Galapagos Research Paper
The Galapagos Islands is an archipelago and a province of Ecuador. It is mostly known
for its wildlife and the inspiration for Charles Darwin s theory of evolution. Furthermore,
the Galapagos are considered to be some of the youngest islands in the world with exotic
species. Overall, there are twenty major islands that constitute the Galapagos. The island
itself was discovered by the Fray TomГЎs de Berlanga, the Bishop of Panama, on March

V For Vendetta Analysis
In Alan Moore s V for Vendetta, set in an alternate dystopic future where Britain is run
by the fascist regime Norsefire, begins with the introduction of Evey Hammond. Evey
encounters the anarchist freedom fighter, V, who rescues her from the Fingermen; the
law enforcement under Norsefire. Evey is then caught in V s plot to dismantle
Norsefire beginning with his fireworks display with the destruction of government
property which differs between the graphic novel and film. In the graphic novel, Evey
is a young girl who tragically lost both her parents and was put to work in a factory
with other children after the formation of the fascist Norsefire party. She lost her mother

Evey attempts to warn the Bishop that V is coming after him even though he was
attempting to rape her in the film telling him, This isn t a game, Your Grace. Someone
s coming. I think he means to kill you . In the graphic novel, Evey offers to help V in
his plot but does not realize that V intended on killing the Bishop using her as a pawn
in his plans. After the assassination of the Bishop, Evey confronts V and tells him that
killing is wrong and that she did not know that he was going to kill him. Evey was
nearly raped by the Bishop but she still believed that killing him was wrong. Both
portrayals of Evey have the same beliefs but execute it differently. The Evey in the
film makes it her mission to warn the Bishop that V was after his life when she offers
to help while the graphic novel Evey offers to help without knowing V s plan. In the
aftermath Evey is distraught that V had killed the Bishop. Evey yells at him and tells
him that killing is wrong and that if she had known he was going to kill him she
would not have become his accomplice. If not for V s intervention, Evey would have
broken her sense of morality. In a moment of anger and hatred, Evey attempts to take
vengeance against Alistair Harper for the death of Gordon but is stopped when V
abducts her from the street to free her from her fears. When V shows Evey the rose
garden he grew in the memory of Valerie Page, Evey is given a choice by V to pluck a
College Student Strength Training Program
I am focusing on a college student athlete that wants to increase their strength training,
this program will be focusing on the major key aspects of hard work, and
progressively increasing the overload performed on the muscles. For a training
program designed for strength to be beneficial, and it must hit equally on all the major
muscles of the body, goal being to gain as much lean mass as possible. Another key part
for a strength training program to be beneficial is the fact that you must increase its
progress, which can be anything from increasing the number of reps, sets, days, or
decreasing rest time. For this particular athlete we will start first with determining they
should do about 10 12 reps for the best strength outcome. From
Ibm Case Study
History By the 1950 s, IBM became the dominant vendor in the computer industry with
the release of the IBM 701 along with many other series of mainframes, which are
large central processors. Then in the1960 s and 1970 s, the company had to diversify
to get on the same level as smaller companies, such as Digital Equipment Corporation,
who were introducing microprocessors. This threatened IBM s position in the
computer industry. Their response was coming put with a personal computer, software,
and services. In 1981, IBM officially introduced the IBM PC with a compatible
hardware platform. This was a large accomplishment for the company. A few years later,
on May 1st, 2005, IBM sold its PC division to the Chinese company Lenovo for $655...

  • 2. Summary of The Embalming of Mr. Jones Essay Tamara Hunter Professor Chambers English 1102 31 May 2013 Summary of The Embalming of Mr. Jones In the essay The Embalming of Mr. Jones, (1963), Jessica Mitford is describing a procedure of embalming of a corpse. She writes that people pay a ton of money each year, but not one in ten thousand has any idea of what actually takes place, and it is extremely hard to find books and any information about this subject. She assumes that it must be a reason for such secrecy, and may be if people knew more about this procedure, they would not want this service after their death. Mitford writes that embalming has long tradition in America, but it used to be performed at home, and all members of the family had to witness the procedure. ... When this done, the corpse s face is heavily creamed to protect from chemical burns from leakage that can happen, a body is covered and left for eight to ten hours to dry. The next procedure involves cleaning and cosmetic restoration of the corpse. Before starting restoration, the body is washed, shaved, and hair is shampooed. If the body has missing limbs, they are replaced with molds of plaster. If the head is off, its edges are trimmed and it is sewn to the torso. After cleaning and patching procedures, taking care of swollen parts of the face, the body is dressed, and the mortician makes last touches. He covers the corpse s skin with pleasantly colored make up, combs hair, and manicures the hands. The body is now ready for casketing. Like in any business, there are some special secrets to casketing. According to Mitford, the right shoulder of the body has to be depressed slightly to turn the body a bit to the right and soften the appearance of lying flat on the back. Positioning the hands and feet is as important as everything that was done before. There are special rubber blocks that are used for this purpose. Finally, the body is placed in the casket as high as possible, and the mortician gives attention to the last details. Now the body is ready for exposition and moved into a slumber room. The last touch can be done there; the favorite

Carol Rose Tattooing Analysis In an article written by Carol Rose, who is a lawyer and journalist and serves as executive director of the Americal Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts, she discusses the right to free expression by the way of tattooing. In the article On pins and needles defending artistic expression she expands on how, even though tattooing is an ancient form of art that is practiced by many people, it was still illegal in many states throughout America as of the date of the article being written. This article was published to Boston.com April, 2010. When it was published tattooing had been illegal in Massachusetts and many other states (Rose). She uses a claim of fact to justify her point by showing that it took a case by the ACLU to change Massachusetts
  • 4. Life Span Age Zero Eric Ericksons theory is applied to different stages of the life span age zero to fithty plus a important stage for a individual is between 12 and 18. The theory could be used in relation to understand a individual s behaviours of a adolescent going in to care. At this key stage the individual is going through a stage where they are finding there own identity and they are face with confusion of the role they will have in life. A important factor at this stage is developing identity through social interactions of good role models this has paramount importance. The individual may have confusion when they have not yet found there career path. A career path that gives them inner self worth, motivation and belongingness of the role they have in
  • 5. Effects of missing a doctors appointment Effects of missing a Doctors appointment No shows are a problem for both doctors and patients. When a patient misses a doctor/nurse appointment, a follow up or specialist appointment they are not receiving the care recommended by their doctor/nurse. This could result in the patient becoming more ill and requiring additional time off work, laying an extra burden on colleagues and bosses, there is also the risk of infecting others thus carrying additional burdens as more staff may require time of work or extra appointments. All of this holds a risk of missing deadlines, looking unprofessional and potentially disrupting the training of personnel on unit. Missing an appointment can also mean missing vital treatment, diagnosis or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the population ever increases doctors are being over stretched more than ever meaning every appointment slot is valuable, GP s are then forced to discharged patients that repeatedly offend for missing appointments which leads to complaints, thus creating more work for the surgery staff and doctors! Then when the said patient applies to re register at the surgery or applies to register at a different surgery more man hours are consumed. On researching and writing about this subject it has become apparent that for the sake of one missed appointment the effects are detrimental to a lot of factors and services. I do feel that within the NHS a system should be in place to remind patients of an appointment like a txting service as it would be a lot more cost effective than a missed appointment, however in the military this is very unlikely to happen because of restrictions and budgets. A missed appointment in the military is down to bad administration, deploying last minute, compassionate leave or work/training commitments, all I feel are sufficient excuses with the exception of bad administration this is a personal issue that you as an individual should take steps to prevent, by the use of a diary, setting an alarm on your phone or computer or simply writing it on a board /piece of paper that you will see. Having missed an appointment
  • 6. Code Talkers Research Paper Indian code talkers are a group of bilingual Navajo speakers that were used to transfer messages during World War II. The Marine Corps recruited many of these Code Talkers to help them in the war. The Marines were so protective of the Code Talkers that if there was any danger of the Indians being captured for the Japanese to learn the code the Marines would have to kill the Code Talker. After the Navajo Code, also known as the Type One Codes, were created the Marine Corps started a Code Talking School. Along with learning the languagethey learned how to march in cadence, obey orders, and keep their quarters very clean. It was here that over four hundred Navajos were recruited as Code Talkers. The Code Talkers were from at least sixteen
  • 7. Teaching A Foreigner Language And An Training Of Teaching... The aim of this essay is to reflect the experience of teaching a foreigner language and an analyzation of teaching strategies. The first part of the essay is an evaluation of the weaknesses and strengths of a Task Based Learning (TBL). Second part of the essay is a self reflection on my peer teaching lesson and how I could apply in practice the Presentation, Production, Practice (PPP) teaching strategy and how to improve my teaching skills. Firstly, the positive parts of the TBL lesson, the Teacher (T) was leading the lesson by concentrating on the local needs of the Learners(L) (Tarone and Yule, 1990). To investigate the L s knowledge, she used the life experience for learning the language (Tarone and Yule,1991:5). It was a well chosen... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Scrivener all these are pending on the language level of the Ls because the activities should be more effective to use the language (Scrivener, 2010:58.). Ellis suggesting the lesson could improve with more concentration of leading process than by using fewer tasks. Furthermore, near to the end of the class the T could not balance the interaction between herself and the Ls and it led to a diverted situation which expanded the Teacher Talking Time (Stewick, 1980). Following strategies, I learned during the observation that the best way is to shorten the controlled practice to use more talking tasks. During the preparation of the lesson, T need to keep the attention of the Ls, and give clear instructions, use tools such as pictures and the writing on board because they would lose motivations to do the task easily. Also, during the activity, the T s role is to monitor how the L could work together in groups and individually. The most practical way of the seating is the horseshoe arrangement (Gower, Phillips, and Walters, 2014). In order to identify our strengths and weaknesses of our teaching skills, each member of the class participated in a 10 minutes peer teaching lesson. My chosen language was Hungarian and the aim of the lesson was to learn the different pronunciation some letters which English does not include. The main difficulties I had to face with were the planning the lesson and my anxiety. For me the greatest
  • 8. The Interior Of A Formal Courtroom The interior of a formal courtroom glistens in a sepia hue. The bench overlooks the room, with herringbone flags representing their country. A bar harshly splits the room while oak tables rot as they pay homage to the solemn victors. Dueling jury boxes frame the edges of the room their panels demarcated by sharp bezels and accompanied by stern lecterns varnished an undistinguished gray. Mirroring benches lay vacant, with the exception of two overwrought neighbors and one anguished woman holding her 6 month old child. A corona of incandescence emphasises the indents separating each weathered stave along the wall. Walking sounds can be heard through the left wall of the courtroom. [Two men enter through the leftmost door, Mark Wallace, J.D. and Stanley Kowalski . They are about thirty years old, sharply dressed in black formalwear. Mr. Wallace carries an ebony suitcase overflowing with folders and documents. Stanley, guided by the hand of Mr. Wallace, stands shoulder to shoulder with his defence attorney. Seconds later the other side of the room mirrors the men s actions; Blanche, a fragile woman in her thirties, enters the room accompanied by her prosecutor, Ella Stone. Mrs. Stone withers with age as she struggles to cling on to the many folders in hand. Judge Ruth Anthony sits herself center bench, accompanied by Bailiff Scott. She scans the room from Stanley to Blanche, briefly stopping to inspect her carefully crafted mahogany gavel.] SCOTT: All rise. [He waits

People smuggling involves the illegal entry of a person or persons across international borders. It was reported that the ASIO had been involved in cash payments to members of Indonesian smuggling rings. Resource efficiency would have been achieved with a much lower cost to send back the Asylum Seekers than to process them onshore in Australia. The Criminal Code 1995 would be the most effective legislation in this case. Section 73 of the Commonwealth Criminal Code makes it an offence to provide material support and/or Resources which aid people smuggling and had been reportedly broken by ASIO. • 10. Reasons To Choose The Electoral College The Electoral College is a body of electors who are selected by a larger group of people. The smaller group, the electors, represent the votes for the larger group, or a state. Each state gets a certain amount of electoral votes based on the population of the state. A candidate gets all the electoral votes for the state if they win the majority of the popular votes for that state. There are many reasons why the United States uses an Electoral Collegeinstead of a popular electionand how to determine the majority. The Constitution explains the Electoral College in Article II, Section I ( U. S. Electoral College, Official What Is the Electoral College? ). The founding fathers established the Electoral College instead of a popular election for President because they were afraid of democracy. They thought one highly populated area would control the election (Miller). They worried that the citizens would make an unfit decision, so they wanted to build a foolproof system where citizens chose people to represent their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Members of the House and Senate meet in the House chamber to conduct the official tally of electoral votes, done by the Vice President ( Justice Network 2016 Election Rules. ). The popular vote simply means a total of all votes from all states in America. All the electoral votes for a state go to the candidate who gets the majority of the popular for that one state ( Electoral Vote vs Popular Vote. ). As confusing as the Electoral College may seem it is not very hard to understand after reading just a little about it. This system was created so the small states get a more equal amount of votes and one big state cannot control all the votes. They also tried to make it easy for the electors having them only need to meet once a year. The founding fathers believed this would be the fairest possible
  • 11. Theories Of Second Language Acquisition Theories of Second Language Acquisition The approaches to Second Language Acquisition (SLA for short) have been changing and developing throughout the years. Since the beginning of the study of Second Language Acquisition, the approaches and theories of SLA have ranged from the Behaviourist approach to SLA by an American psychologist Burrhus Frederic Skinner in 1940s 1950s to Universal Grammar approach by an American linguist Noam Chomsky in 1960 1970s to the Information Processing Model introduced by Barry McLaughlin in 1983 (Malone 2012: 1). The field of SLA research nowadays includes relatively new approaches such as cognitive linguistics, as well as skill acquisition and various sociocultural theories, connectionism and many more. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the Noam Chomsky s centre of interest was how a language is acquired generally, his theory has rather been adapted to be suitable for interpreting second language (or L2) acquisition than intended to be used directly in order to explain it (Menezes 2013: 405). According to Larsen Freeman and Long (1991), in his works Chomsky claimed that when acquiring a language, whether it is the first or the second, the input a person receives from the outside world through oral communication is deficient in that it is filled with performance features, such as false starts, slips, fragments, and ungrammaticality , as well as lacking so called negative evidence or information which a learner needs in order to realize what is incorrect in a given language (Larsen Freeman and Long 1991: 389). Additionally, the American linguist believed children cannot learn a language as quickly, efficiently and effortlessly as they do without an innate language faculty to guide them (Mitchell and Myles 2004: 55). Therefore, Chomsky introduced the idea of a Language Acquisition Device (or LAD), an innate ability to acquire and use language (Malone 2012: 2), along with the notion of Universal Grammar (Field 2005: 21; Malone 2012: 2). Universal Grammar (UG for short) is a theory which dictates that every human being is born with a system of categories, mechanisms and constraints
  • 12. Zebra In Life Of Pi In the Life of Pi by Yann Martel, he cleverly creates two stories with completely different characters that tell the same story. In the story with the animals: the zebra is the injured Japanese sailor, the orangutan is Pi s mother, the hyena is the cook, and the tiger is Pi. However, they seem to stand for more than just another character in a story. Each of their different actions appear to represent a separate part of Pi s psyche. In order to fully understand Pi, it is necessary to understand the animals and their connection to him. The zebra is the first to die at the paws of the hyena, and stands for Pi s initial fear of the open ocean and the animals on board. The orangutan, Orange Juice, is said to have been kind, innocent, and maternal,
  • 13. Allowing Marine Parks To Keep Marine Mammals The main thesis presented in the essay is whether to allow marine parks to keep marine mammals. The first main argument Bill Daly s presents is the fact that individuals would rather see marine mammals in the wild life than captured inside a tank. Bill Daly s states In fact, there are more places where they can be seen in wild than places where they can be seen in captivity (Daly 2016, p.469). This argument presents the fact that many of the places people visit have many areas to see marine mammals in the wild, which is an option many tourist would prefer. The second argument presented in the essay is that when it comes to research of marine mammals, marine parks are only useful to study animals that are captured. Bill Daly states Dolphin

How Does Sean Penn Use Film Techniques In Into The Wild Thoreau once said Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves following this Chris Mccandless adventures off into the wild on a journey to discover himself without being surrounded by a materialistic society or his family. Sean Penn delicately crafted cinematography in the film into the wild makes use of .... to show the challenges of family relationships, the power of words and self discovery. This is shown through the use of many different filming techniques to emphasise a certain theme. The director uses voice overs and cinematography perceptively to emphasise the challenges of family relationships. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the film there are many examples of where Penn has shown the power of words but one of the main examples shown throughout the movie is when his younger sister Carnie does voice overs in the film. One of the main examples of this is when she said this Chris measured himself and those around him by a fiercely rigorous moral code. He risked what could have been a relentless lonely path but found comfort in the character of book he loved... he could summon their words to suit any occasion, and he would often. This displays that Chris can strongly relate to many of his favourite authors, who have been able to capture Chris s emotions, thought and feelings in their words. An establishing shot that also symbolises the power of words, would be when the shot of Chris is just walked into the wild of Alaska in the opening scene. This establishing shot creates the idea of loneliness, isolation and shows the purity in nature as he walks into the wildness. These show us how our words can impact others in both a negative and positive
  • 15. Type 2 Diabetes Self Management Education Type 2 diabetes self management education is necessary to prevent the development of long term health complications associated with poor metabolic control in individuals with diabetes (Kennedy, 2012). The national average of adults who attended diabetes self management education changed little from 51.4% in the year 2000 to 57.4% in 2010 (Centers for Disease Control [CDC], 2014). A Healthy People 2020 goal is to increase the number of adults who receive diabetes education by 10% (HealthyPeople.gov, 2014). Type 2 diabetes has reached epidemic proportions, accounting for 90 95% of diabetes cases. Complications related to uncontrolled diabetes include kidneydisease, blindness, lower extremity amputations, stroke and heart disease. Poorly controlled diabetes is one of the primary causes of kidney failure, with 10 20% of people with diabetes dying from kidney failure. Cardiovascular disease accounts for 50% of deaths in people with diabetes (Kennedy, 2012). Type 2 diabetes is known to affect 11.8% of the Hispanicpopulation compared to 7.1% of non Hispanic Whites (Gonzalez, Berry, Davison, 2013). As of July 1, 2013, the Hispanic population is the largest minority group in the United States (CDC, 2013). This statistic, combined with the high prevalence of diabetes in the Hispanic population makes diabetes self management a priority (Gonzalez et al., 2013). Hispanics are more likely to develop end stage renal disease related to diabetes and they are also 50% more likely to
  • 16. Essay A Case for Vouchers and School Choice A Case for School Choice There is growing conflict over the nation s education policy. Indeed, this conflict remains one of the few areas of divergence between our converging two party structure. Yet, as is so often the case with pressing concerns in American politics, any real proposals have been drowned under the Washington bureaucracy. Unfortunately, the nation can no longer ignore the ever expanding education crisis plaguing the country, and Washington must consider school choice as a remedy for the ailing public school system. Unfortunately, these programs remain in their formative stages, and are unable to offer any definitive evidence endorsing the concept. Modern advocates of school choice have not failed to recognize the explicit success stories which have often been associated with both private and parochial schools. Regardless of location, socioeconomic status, or religious affiliation, such schools have repeatedly proven to be better educators of America s youth children in such schools score higher on standardized tests and are more likely to attend college. Amazingly, these schools, especially Catholic schools, have achieved their success with noticeably smaller budgets. All of this evidence leads to the question: How have such schools achieved their substantial success? Opinions concerning the reasons for such success commonly cite such abstractions as values and discipline. Even those citing a core curriculum or a nurturing environment fail to recognize the true reason why school choice programs will have such a profound effect on the education system competition. Private schools have no public respirators sustaining their existence when it becomes known that they have failed in their mission. The choice is simple for private schools either educate well or close down. Faced with only a single option if they fail in their mission, private schools have

  • 19. Plato s Allegory Of The Cave In Plato s, Allegory of the Cave , a key theory I found was the importance of gaining knowledge. Plato uses an allegory to illustrate the dilemma facing the psyche in the ascent to knowledge of the imperishable and unchanging forms (Fiero, 104). Based on my research of the Republic, the allegory can reveal multiple hidden messages. Plato describes in the Allegory, ordinary mortals who are chained within an underground chamber, which according to Fiero, represents the psyche imprisoned within the human body. These mortals can t look sideways, but rather only straight ahead. On top of this, they also can t leave the cave. These prisoners are facing a cave wall that they can only see shadows reflecting from a fire of what they imagine are men. These mortals have been in this cave since childhood, which makes them believe the shadows themselves are the men, not a shadow of an actual man. Again, according to Fiero, the light, represents true knowledge, and the shadows on the walls of the cave represent the imperfect and perishable imitations of the forms that occupy the world of the senses. Plato introduces the Theory of Knowledge, which asserts the existence of a two level reality, the first constantly changing particulars available to our senses, the other existing of unchanging eternal truths understood by way of the intellect. According to Bettrand Russel, when we have asked ourselves seriously whether we really know anything at all, we are naturally led into an

There is an enzyme call DNA polymerase that is in charge of proofreading the template strand. It reads the newly added base to make sure it is paired up correctly. However sometimes these mistakes are not corrected and lead to mutation. The benefits of mutation are that it brings genetic diversity. Mutations cause a change in DNAthat lead to new genetic variation (Alleles) in a population. With these mutations that occur during DNA replication and sexual reproduction, they introduce more desirable phenotypes in the offspring. With time these organisms develop more features that help with their survival. These mutations are developed by the changes that occur in the base pairs. Maverick Lodging Case Essay DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTANCY UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS MEMORANDUM TO: Professor Wu FROM: Minghao Tang, AE5 DATE: March 30, 2014 SUBJECT: MAVERICK LODGING CASE Year 1999 Analysis In 1999, the Maverick Lodging company implements balanced scorecard to establish a measurement system and control the hotel level management. The balanced scorecard has several attributes, such as tracking financial performance, tracking nonfinancial measures and communicating franchisees and owners objectives of growth. For financial performance, according to Exhibit 7, the Maverick Courtyard has 3.77% growth rate, Maverick Fairfield Inn has 2.22% growth rate and Maverick Residence Inn has 3.5% growth rate. For example, the colors and points system is complex because it is difficult to connect colors and points to the bonus points and the 40% multiply factor may cause managers confusions. Since it is hard to understand, the scorecard would have problems on acceptance and the implementation process would be difficult. As a result, the scorecard would not reach the maximum effectiveness and efficiency. The second problem is that the scorecard contains uncontrollable factors for managers. For example, managers performance will be measured by comparing the budgets and actual expenses. However, hotel level managers have no right to determine the budget and this measurement is unfair. As a result, many managers would be reluctant to accept the scorecard. The third problem is that the scorecard is only implemented at the hotel general management level. As stated in the case, the hotel general management is the last level of the company management and they have no right to discuss the components of the scorecard. In addition, the implementation process lacks communication between different levels of managements. As a result, the scorecard represents the top managements thoughts and may not be suitable for the bottom level management. Also, the lack of communication may cause hindrance for accepting and implementing the scorecards. Flow through Flexible Budget The

I was not frustrated with anything or anyone, I was calm and I just watched a few funny videos, which brought my mood up even more. During the first video, immediately, my thoughts were about the quality of the animation and the story line. As for the violence, I didn t like looking at it. I tried to turn away a few times. I think that there was an excessive amount of gore that could have been easily cut out, but it wasn t, because the viewers or the gamers like it. The second video was a lot worse in my opinion. The Splatterhouse video had some sort of story line beside the gore, but this video only showed a first point view of a person killing people in many different ways. Because of the quality of the video, I didn t actually see anything too graphic, but just the idea of people enjoying this game made me a little scared for our society. During the third video, I thought about how believable the scenes were. The lighting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gore and violence doesn t interest me and I actually turn away from the screen any time there s a graphic scene in a movie, which explains why these clips didn t have any effect on me. The only clip that slightly interested me was Saw. I thought that the story line was interesting, but I still wouldn t watch the actual movie, because of the violent scenes that I would have to watch. Though I had almost no interest in these videos and found most of the scenes repulsive, I caught myself on the thought that by the time I was watching the fourth video, I got used to the violence portrayed in these videos. If the first video made me want to turn away from the screen, the last video had no effect on me at all. I believe that this explains the mere exposure theory. The only thing I did was sit and watch a few clips, but the effect was that I became immune to the violence for at least some

(2016) ask the reader whether they are spending time with their employees, and if they are, how much. Research findings by Milgram (2011) state that the median time for the management to spend time with their employees is three hours. In essence, that is half of six hours, which is the optimal time for the engagement of the employees. Despite the leadership of the management, spending time with employees is universally essential. The study finding by Milgram (2011) further state that most organizational leaders do not spend enough time with their employees. In fact, they sped half of what they should. There are other that do not engage the employees in any form of interaction except when they want them to complete specific duties. Besides the findings by Milgram (2011), findings by Biron and Eshed (2016) reveal significant information. According to the results of the study, of the employees that spend at least six hours of time with their leaders a week, 29% of them feel more inspiration, 15%, motivation, 16% innovative, and 30%, more engagement. Indeed, that outlines the significance of the interaction between an employee and the management. However, when employees add more time to the six hours a week, there are diminishing returns regarding the motivation, engagement, and inspiration. Therefore, while the leaders spend time with them, they must ensure

Tanishq was coined from a combination of Tata/Tamil Nadu and Nishq (meaning a necklace of gold coins) and, again, from Tan, meaning body and Ishq, meaning love. Tanishq has set up its 1,35,000 sq. ft production factory at Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Well equipped with modern machinery, this factory functions as the production and sourcing base for the research of the jewelry crafts in India. But things began to change globally around this time, and the West entered a protracted period of slow economic growth followed by recession. Supplying jewelry to the Americans Europeans suddenly no longer seemed an attractive proposition. Initially, the criticism for Titan s foray into jewelry was loud and often bitter. Eventually, however, the critics were silenced. Tanishq, today, is perhaps the only major Tata brand with a strong appeal for women. Very importantly, Tanishq has brought to the market a whole new standard of business ethics and product reliability, in the process bringing about a transformation in the manner in which jewelry is bought and sold in India. It has created a revolution in the Indian jewelry trade and in jewelry buying behavior, and continues to set new parameters of excellence for others to follow. The Indian market, on the other hand, opened its doors to the world, and was

My family and I enjoy trying new restaurants to eat at, our personal preference is steakhouses. There is nothing better than going to a steakhouse to enjoy a big, juicy, mouthwatering cut of beef. Fogo De Chao and Outback steakhouse are two of our favorite restaurants to choose from; but, Fogo De Chao has always been preferable. Both share common traits, however, they differ in the foodthey serve, the atmosphere, and the service provided. Upon arriving at either restaurant, you can tell there is a difference amongst the atmosphere of both locations. Fogo De Chao is an upscale Brazilian steakhouse with limited locations; and Outback Steakhouse is a more casual Australian style restaurant. Theme Of Ignorance In Noah s Go Hitler Naturally occurring ignorance in society is described by Robert Proctor as a ...sense of native or originary state implies a kind of deficit, caused by the naivete of youth or the faults of improper education or the simple fact that here is a place where knowledge has not yet penetrated (Proctor 6). This naГЇve state described by Proctor s appeal to logos is present through all societies and could be viewed to be a prompt for learning, leading to knowledgereplacing the ignorance in the place. This natural state of ignorance is exemplified through Trevor Noah s Go Hitler in which the kids involved simply don t know the connotation behind the name Hitler. Noah s narrative depicts these kids playing music at a Jewish school representing their culture at a cultural festival with a lead dancer named Hitler.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The staff at the festival shut it down and an argument ensues because the people playing music think that the Jewish audience disapproves of their cultural taste in music when they are actually appalled by what they perceive is them praising Hitler. This situation exemplifies Proctor s proposed natural ignorance in which the people playing music didn t understand the issue due to the fact that they had a lack of knowledge about what was happening in Europe during World War II. This conflict of interests in Noah s article illuminates Proctor s main point that ignorance should not be accepted but rather explored in order to grow into knowledgeable and leave the state of natural
