Serena Williams Biography
World champion tennis player Serena Williams was once quoted as saying a
champion is defined not by their wins, but how they can recover when they fall. I am
fond of this quote because it hold true not only in sports, but in all facets of life,
business, and success. I am sure many applicants can tell you stories of great success
and how it was in these moments their abilities as a leader were forged. How their
achievements led them to be better people and stronger leaders. My story is perhaps a
bit different. My leadershiphas been derived from life experience, love, and a strong
unwillingness to accept failure.
In any of life s endeavors, leadership, inspiration, and guidance is derived from 3 words:

An avid guitar player since I was 11, it was not long after my graduation from high
school that I developed a successful career as a musician that took me all over the
west coast. Realizing the situation and the requirements, I eased up on touring,
shows, and recording. I relocated back home to care for my father and help my
mother. I organized my father s medical appointments, kept track of his medications to
ensure that there would be nothing with counteractive effects, and saw to it that they
were taken on a regular basis. I also transported him to all of his chemo appointments
so that he would be able to receive every possible treatment. Job conditions in Las
Vegas were very sparse, so when I was unable to find work, I started my own business
out of the home. This allowed me the ability to not only care for my father, assist my
mother, and keep in contact with my brother, but it also afforded the opportunity to face
my greatest challenge and current objective my MBA. After some time my father would
overcome the cancer and his foot would heal. It was during this time that I made the
decision to return back to school, to better prepare myself for the future that lay ahead
This experience stands out more than most as a catalyst for the development of my
leadership abilities. I am not frightened by pressure because I have been in situations
where the results can be dire. Pressure can either crush you into dust or turn you into a
Summary Of Walking And The Suburbanized Psyche
In Walking and the Suburbanized Psyche, the author, Rebecca Solnit, argues that the
development of suburbanization has been the primary problem as to why our modern
society continues to devalue the significance and impact of walking. Suburbanization
hasn t only changed the way we travel from one place to another, but it has also changed
the way we communicate amongst each other and with ourselves. Walkingis looked down
upon and has been seen as a symbol of low status. This has led people to exterminate
the use of walking in their daily lives. However, even if someone would like to walk to
their destination they can t due to the fact that places are shaping their roads to
accommodate to the excess use of cars. I agree with Solnit that walking has a positive
impact towards our bodies, our world, and our imagination. The wide use of
transportation contributes to how society is increasingly turning away from walking.
Since, the majority of people drive either their own cars or a form of public
transportation regularly they have lost the sense of distance. People may never even
know that the daily commute they may take to work is faster to walk to then it is to
wait in traffic for. For example, recently my roommate invited me along so she should
get a tattoo at a parlor in our hometown. We had to take a bus to get near to the location
because it is a bit far away from UCR, but once we got off at a bus stop instead of
walking the short distance that would take about 15 minutes we decided to call an
Uber. We both haven t been in our hometown in a while, so instead of enjoying it we
decided to take a car. At my high school, students were allowed to drive themselves to
the campus beginning junior year. I never got my license during high school, so I
would either be picked up by one of my parents or a friend who drove to themselves to
school would. However, whenever one of my parents would pick me up they would
refuse to pick me up directly in front of the school because of the ridiculous amount of
traffic. They had me walk a little over half a mile each day after school to the exact
same spot. Even though, half a mile wasn t a long walk I realized a difference between
taking that small walk and being driven home by

##hropomorphizing Animal Characters In Yann Martel s Life...
Authors anthropomorphize animal characters to allow readers to fully understand an
animal s actions or thoughts. By doing so, the reader is able to comprehend why an
animal does a certain action or how an animal behaves towards a human or another
animal. One novel that employs anthropomorphism of animals is Yann Martels Life of Pi.
In the novel, Pi Patel, the main character, is stranded on a boat with a variety of animals.
Pi then relates his daily experiences with these animals throughout his journey across the
Pacific Ocean, especially with a tiger named Richard Parker. Based on a through reading
and analysis of the novel, the use of anthropomorphism is integral to Pi surviving his
experience on the open water because it allows Pi to understand how animal behavior
can help him survive at sea.
Pi anthropomorphizes a zebra to show how weakness cannot be exhibited on a
stranded lifeboat. Through his anthropomorphizing, Pi illustrates the dangers of being
weak and dependent on the sea, and how important it is to be independent and strong.
When Pi fell into the lifeboat, one of the first animals he saw was a zebra. Pi noticed
that the zebra had a broken leg and was unable to move. Pi reasoned that if the zebra
was unable to get up and move around, it would be quickly eaten by the predator
animals that were also on the lifeboat. Pi said, It lay near the stern, where it had fallen,
listless, but its stomach was still panting and its eyes were still moving, expressing terror
Methamphetamine And Cocaine Essay
Methamphetamine and cocaine are both in the category of drugs known as stimulants.
Central nervous system are drugs that increase not only the activity of the CNS but also
that of the ANS, (autonomic nervous system) resulting in both euphoria and mood
enhancement (Csiernik, R. 2014).
Cocaine is naturally occurring; being harvested from the leaves of the cocoa plant,
whereas methamphetamine is completely man made. Methamphetamine is manufactured
using common household and industrial ingredients such as over the counter cold/allergy
medicines, drain cleaner, battery acid, gun cleaner, gasoline additives, muriatic acid,
ammonia, lye, acetone and kitty litter (Crystal Meth Addiction.org. 2013).
Methamphetamine and cocaine are similar in regards ... Show more content on

The first difference is in how methamphetamine and cocaine metabolize in the body.
Cocaine metabolizes much quicker than methamphetamine, 50% is eliminated in the first
hour with the primary affects lasting about half an hour. Many regular cocaine users fail
to achieve the same degree of high with regular cocaine use as they did from their first
time using the drug. As a result, it is common for a cocaine user to increase the amount
of cocaine they are taking to make their high more intense and prolonged (Crystal Meth
Addiction.org. 2013). Methamphetamine on the other hand, metabolizes approximately
50% of the dosage used in the first twelve hours, meaning is stays in the body for much
longer. The high associated with Methamphetamine lasts between eight and twelve hours.
Since methamphetamine stays in the body much longer, it has more time to cause
damage to the brain and vital organs. When we examine the ingredients contained in
methamphetamine (drain cleaner, battery acid, gun cleaner, gasoline additives, muriatic
acid, ammonia, lye, acetone and kitty litter) we can see that most of the ingredients are
toxic and should not be consumed by humans (Crystal Meth Addiction.org.
Reflection About Hunger
Hunger is a bit weird. You know what it is, you ve felt it before, you know what it
means. But why, why do we feel hungry? How come sometimes we can t seem to eat
enough no matter how much we eat? Why do we sometimes eat even if we re full? So
the question is what is hunger and how does our day to day lives affect it? To start
things off, the Merriam Webster definition of hunger is, A feeling of discomfort or
weakness caused by a lack of food, coupled with a desire to eat . Physiologically
speaking when we are hungry it is due to a hormone called Ghrelin (there are more at
play here but for the time being we re focusing on this hormone). Ghrelin is a peptide
hormone found in the GI tract, its function is to regulate appetite. The body sense s the
stomach is empty it produces ghrelin, when it senses it has had its fill it stops secretion.
When this happens it activates hypothalamic braincells and GI tract acid secretion. In
laymen terms, that sensation of hunger is felt when; your brain senses you re low on
energy, and the body prepares itself for food intake. The next part of the equation we
have to cover is Leptin. Leptin is your body s satiety hormone, it is based in the
hypothalamusand helps maintain energy homeostasis. When the acidity reaches a peak
level the lateral portion of the hypothalamus produces leptin, which inhibits the release of
Ghrelin. In simpler terminology, Leptin is the opposite of Ghrelin, when your body
senses it needs more energy it produces
Perception And Perception Of Perception
Everybody was born in different situations and with different personalities that makes
our world colorful and complicated. However, the differences in viewing the world
between people cause many problems which is relevant to a concept called perception.
In this essay, the concept of perception will be described through academic definitions
and knowledge also with practical examples. The main objective is to provide readers
with a better on what perceptionis, why it is important to the study of Organization
Behaviour (OB) and the effects and implications of it onto managers job.
Perception is defined as the process in which perceivers give meaning to the things they
see after comprehend and rearrange the data in their brains (Robbins, 2014). The final
information concluded by each person can be different comparing to the reality and the
others conclusion. Briefly, perception is what our brains, instead of our eyes, see.
The main reasons for those differences are the factors that influence perception. Robbins
(2014) divided these factors into three categories which are the perceiver, the target and
the situation.
Firstly, factors in the perceiver consist of experiences, motives and emotions (Johns
Saks, 2010). For example, a person who is happy at the moment will think a flower
really beautiful; however, that same one when he/she is in a good mood will not care or
probably show hateful attitude and behaviour to the flower.
Secondly, factors in the target are as well

What animal is black and white and loved all over the world? If you guessed the giant
panda, you re right! The giant panda is also known as the panda bear, bamboo bear, or in
Chinese as Daxiongmao, the quot;large bear cat. quot; Actually, its scientific name means
quot;black and white cat footed animal. quot; Giant pandasare found only in the
mountains of central China. They live in dense bambooand coniferous forests at altitudes
of 5,000 to 10,000 feet. The mountains are covered in heavy clouds with torrential rains
or dense mist throughout the year. Giant pandas are bear like in shape with striking black

Giant pandas are among the rarest mammals in the world. There are probably less than
1,000 left in the wild. Although adult giant pandas have few natural enemies, the young
are sometimes preyed upon by leopards. Habitat encroachment and destruction are the
greatest threats to the continued existence of the giant panda. This is mainly because of
the demand for land and natural resources by China s 1 billion inhabitants. To offset this
situation, the Chinese government has set aside 11 nature preserves where bamboo
flourishes and giant pandas are known to live.
Giant pandas are being poached, because their dense fur carries a high price in illegal
markets in the Far East. The Chinese government has imposed life sentences for those
convicted of poaching giant pandas. The low reproductive capacity of the giant panda
makes it more vulnerable to these threats, and less capable of rebounding from its low
numbers. In 1984, due to its decreasing numbers, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
listed the giant panda as an endangered species under the Endangered Species Act. This
means it is considered in danger of extinction throughout all of its range.
This protection also prohibits giant pandas from being imported into the U.S. except
under certain conditions. What you can do to help: Join WWF (World Wildlife

The Art Of Miro s The Harlequin Carnival
In 1923, there was huge change in Miro s style and art like moving into more forms and
sign, geometric shapes and an overall rythm of his paintings. Miro is not at all orthodox
surrealist. Miro made a pictorial sign language through the mid 1920s which became a
style throughout his career. By this he made a paintingnamed The Harlequin Carnival of
1924 25. There is a clear continuation of lines in this painting which is not much seen in
his other works. There is no focal point in this painting which was done in traditional
painting. This composition is encompassed with figures and forms equally in places. In
left side it includes snakes, fly, ladder, cylinder, cone, sphere, a white palm, a violin
shaped human figure with a circular head etc.
Carrie Underwood Is A Bad Role Model

The Pros And Cons Of Genetic Gold Diggers
Genetic Gold Diggers It s sad to live in a world where the thought of genetically
modifying babies exists. While parents are just trying to better their children s lives,
they re doing nothing but wasting their money on a very expensive and risky
procedure. It s no coincidence that when CRISPR, the machine/tool used for genetic
modification was released, over 40 countries produced legislation to fight against it
due to the moral, legal, safety, etc. issues. With genetic modification, numerous health
risks, moral questioning and possible discrimination, genetic modification is not the
way to go. One of the main reasons a parent would modify their traits is to become
more athletic; so, if a parent modifies their baby in order for them to grow up to be the
next LeBron James , chances are they re not special for thinking of that. They think that
their kid will be the superior athlete but in reality, the kid is going to be battling against
many other kids that have been genetically modified, reducing their talent back down to
what it would ve been prior to genetic modification. The only difference is that if the kid
didn t get modification, he might ve gotten his college paid for if the parents didn t spend
a bazillion dollars for this genetic treatment.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sure, the kid might be prone to a few diseases and smarter, but part of having a family
is making a child with your same traits, which is what makes us as humans unique.
Take for example, a couple: a man and a woman both with black hair and green eyes.
They decide to have a genetically modified baby. Since sources claim that people with
blue eyes and blonde hair get better jobs and have better social lives, they decide to
give the baby these traits. Now, throughout this kid s life he has to be burdened with the
question: Did your mom have an affair or like were you adopted because like you look

Waste Disposal Methods Must be Improved
Have you ever imagined that Earth is no longer available due to pollution? As shown
in Wall E, people recognize that wastes can lead Earth to be unavailable for all lives
because of toxic gas from wastes. In each day, tons of wastes are create, and they are
disposed with vary disposal methods. Unfortunately, current disposal methods have
limitations; landfill and incineration create harmful chemicals that pollute Earth. Even if
people live only with necessity of life, wastes are still created and they needed to be
disposed. Even though current waste disposal methods solve problems caused by wastes,
they create another problem while disposing wastes. When disposing waste with current

Moreover, there is another limitation that recycling has: lack of motivation for people to
recycle. Even though WM made recycling easy, not all people recycle. MassDEF
(2002) states that people do not recycle because people are not motivated to recycle.
As there is no specific reason to recycle, they do not use their time to recycle. These
are the limitations that recycling have. To improve the first solution to disposing
wastes, recycling, two things are suggested: motivate people to recycle and send e
wastes to WM. MassDEF (2002) suggests solutions to motivate people to recycle
which is letting people perceive effectiveness of recycling , concern about the
environment , give social pressure , and provide financial motive . If people know
how recycling helps environment and what environment their child will live, they
may have motives to recycle. Also, if WM price the wastes even as small amounts of
money, then it may give people a financial motive to encourage people to recycle. If
they do so, people still may not recycle, but there will be some people who collect
recyclable wastes from roads or some other places to get little money. As people gather
more wastes for recycling, significant amount of recyclable wastes that will be landfill
will be reduced. In addition, there is a solution of problem of difficulty in recycling

Second World War Dbq Analysis
The Second World War was the first and only conflict that saw the use of atomic
weapons of mass destruction. During the war, Japan refused to surrender and as result,
America dropped two atomic bombs on Japan at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Seemingly, this
was to prevent a full invasion of japan, which would undoubtedly cost substantial
American lives. In addition to the warfare advantages this would provide, this also
handed diplomatic advantages to the United States. (Doc E)
Diplomatically, the use of the Atomic weapons would put a swift end to the war, which
would assuredly keep Russia out of the conflict and prevent them from gaining more
power or influence, especially sense Russia had demands in place that would allow
Russia to gain more

The Nursing Process Paper
The Nursing Process: Framework for the Development of Clinical Judgment and
Reasoning Utilizing the circular nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning,
implementation, and evaluation, the nurse and client work together to create dynamic,
interactive interventions to support the client s wellbeing. The nursing process acts as
both foundation and scaffolding upon which nurses may build their knowledge and

Similarities Between Edwards And Patrick Henry
The speeches delivered by Jonathan Edwards, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God,
and Patrick Henry, Speech to the Virginia Convention, differ in many respects. The
speeches had different audiences, were set in different places, and had completely
different subjects. Yet these speeches, delivered thirty four years apart, had similarities.
They both used logic, classical images, and restatement, but they varied in the use of
emotion and Biblical references. Depending on the topic, and audience, each speaker used
these techniques to add to his speech and make it more effective.
Henry and Edwards both asked the audience to reason for themselves. Edwards presented

Edwards appealed to fear and pride, while Henry appealed to nationalism and self
preservation. One pointed fingers at the audience while the other showed his devotion
to his cause. Edwards referred to the congregation as you consistently. This demeaned
them and made them feel singled out. Then he gave the audience disturbing and
frightening images of being hung precariously over Hell to make them fear the God
whom they had to serve. He destroyed whatever pride his audience had. His use of you
is consistent with his intended result, to scare the audience into submission to God. In
contrast, Henry employed the now famous phrase, give me liberty or give me death, to
state his devotion to his ideas . Indeed, he declared that he would martyr himself before
giving up his beliefs. Arousing the feeling of self preservation, he used himself as an
example of nationalism in the United States. Mentioning the repeatedly rejected petitions
that the colonists had made to their home, England, Henry argued that the colonists had
no choice but to rebel. For his purpose of convincing and not scaring his voting audience,

there has been alarming declines and extinctions in amphibians globally. However, what
is causing these drastic declines remains a mystery to many scientists mainly due to the
anomalies or limitations in the data collection and various environmental factors varying
concurrently. Therefore, only causal links and correlations have been deduced and the
factors yet remain to be proven. Although climate warming may not be the main direct
cause of these drastic deaths, it influences almost all the other deleterious factors from

1951 to describe the high number of workers that skipped work that day. Eventually,
employers started giving workers the day after Thanksgiving as a vacation day. In
turn, many of the workers used this day to start their shopping for the holiday season,
making the day after the Thanksgiving a day that many stores started making huge
profits. If a business has a profitable market, they are considered in the black . This is
likely what brought about the modern meaning of the phrase Black Friday. However, it
wasn t until 2004 that Black Friday was officially considered the biggest shopping day
of the year...according to data from retail analyst ShopperTrak, (Tozzi). Today, stores
everywhere have Black Friday sales with almost comically low prices on merchandise to
entice potential customers and drive them away from competing stores.
Recently, America s obsession with Black Friday has generated various opinions on the
day itself, its proximity to Thanksgiving, and the morality of the holiday shopping
season. Many view Thanksgiving as a sacred holiday and are appalled that retailers
would even consider the idea of
Mill City Museum
We planned to visit Mill City museum after a friend recommended that we check it from
the Minnesota Historical site. The museum is the most important and historical place
where anyone who wants to know more about the Minnesota people. The museum
contained historical articles and information. A lot of stuff was available including plant
species and human origin. We later made our way to the science museumwhere displays
of evolution. The main building of the Museum has its entire floor with colorful animated
dioramas that display their traditional costumes of Minnesota people. On reaching the
museum, we were met with a tour guide who took us through the place and described
everything that we wanted to know about the Minnesota.
The premises of the Museum are also well kept. I was also amazed to find out that the
visit to the Museum is completely free. Since it s a public place, no one charges any
person for the things that they view at the place. This place has historical significance to
the culture and social economic diversity of the region. We discovered ... Show more

experience the best form of entertainment that was provided in the area. Chairs and
tables were cleared for people to dance in this hotel. We had brilliant forms of music

Auggie Pullman Character Traits
Introduction I admire August/Auggie Pullman from the book Wonder, who has won
the genetic lottery which made war on his face. He has a great amount of strength.
Though Auggie is very self conscience, but his other qualities help him overcome
school issues. August also is a hilarious boy, which is a very good quality in a person. I
respect Auggie because of his great qualities. August Pullman s Strength Auggie
Pullman has some of the greatest strength I have ever seen/read. To quote the book
Wonder, Ever since I was little, the doctors told my parents that someday I d need
hearing aids. and Do I really have to wear this, Mom? I said, trying not to cry. I hate
them. They don t make any difference! This helps show strength from Auggie because
he does not want to wear these hearing aids, worried that people would notice, and
judge him, more than they already do, but he wears them anyway. To add on, quoting
Wonder, I don t know if there s a word that means the same as brightly in terms of
hearing, but I wish I knew I one, because my ears were hearing brightly now. When the
ear doctor turned on the hearing aids for Auggie, he no longer didn t want to wear them
and worry about others, he loved... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As reported by Wonder, Like the other day I saw Maya writing a note to Ellie on a
piece of Uglydoll stationary, and I don t know why, but I just randomly blurted said:
Did you know that the guy who created the Uglydolls based them on me? This alone
proves that Auggie makes jokes, and once Maya saw that Auggie was okay of joking
about his face, she laughed very hard. Actually, technically speaking, her full name is
Darth Daisy, but we never really called her that. and Darth Daisy! That s funny! Darth
Daisy! Furthermore, this is also an example of Auggie making a joke where another
person responds with laughter. Ultimately, Auggie s sense of humor is one of the
Disillusionment In The Jungle
In the politically righteous book, The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, a newly wed s feeling of
innocence and happiness after their beautiful wedding in their homeland come to an end
following the reality of discovering their new life in America. The notion comes from the
disillusionment of American freedom and the twisted advertisement of a capitalist
system. America was systematically built to be corrupt and dehumanized the
significance of individual existence. This was done by easily replacing, deceiving and
exploiting people for the self interest of the wealthy.
The Jungle depicts the exploitation of immigrant lives in Packingtown, a town near
Chicago. The small industrialized town is filled with oppressing poverty, dangerous and

He becomes a tireless advocate for socialism and gets a job as a porter in a socialist run

revolve around taking advantage of the poor working class and treating them like active
robots. Humans are living, not inanimate.
Humans are the equivalent to animals in the meat industry for the purpose of profit.
Jurgis tours the slaughterhouse. He describes the detachment in the work environment
with the slaughtering and packaging of hogs. The hogs are not treated kindly or even
thought of as animals just as sales. There was a long line of hogs, being simultaneously
swung up and then another, and another squealing] and lifeblood ebbing away together.
(Sinclair 39) There is an orderly way to set up the slaughterhouse to distract the poor
immigrants of the American lifestyle. The worker wants to give more to their family and
add to their financial status even if it means being away from their home country.
Businesses take advantage of workers valuing their work ethic more than the idea of
being miserable at work so it is done continuously with no remorse. This social construct
was built and implied because no one could protest against a life that helps them survive

John Adams, Jr.
John Adams, Jr. was an American lawyer, author, statesman, and diplomat. He served as
the second President of the United States, the first Vice President, and as a Founding
Father was a leader of American independence from Great Britain. Adams was a political
theorist in the Age of Enlightenment who promoted republicanism and a strong central
government. His innovative ideas were frequently published. He was also a dedicated
diarist and correspondent, particularly with his wife and key advisor Abigail. He
collaborated with his cousin, revolutionary leader Samuel Adams, but he established his
own prominence prior to the American Revolution. After the Boston Massacre, despite
severe local anti British sentiment, he provided a successful though unpopular legal
defense of the accused British soldiers, driven by his devotion to the right to counsel and
the of innocence ]]. As a delegate from Massachusetts to the Continental Congress,
Adams played a leading role in persuading Congress to declare independence. He assisted
Thomas Jefferson in drafting the Declaration of Independence in 1776, and was its
foremost advocate in the Congress. As a diplomat in Europe, he helped negotiate the
eventual peace treaty with Great Britain, and acquired vital governmental loans from
Amsterdam bankers. Adams was the primary author of the Massachusetts Constitution in
1780 which influenced American political theory, as did his earlier Thoughts on
Government. Adams credentials as a

About Field Placement The field placement took place at Durham College of Applied
Arts and Technology Recruitment and Admission Services located 2000 Simcoe St.
N. Oshawa, ON, Canada L1H 7K4 on the second floor in the Student Services
building. This campus is Durham College s main campus since it houses most of the

super knowledgeable and hardworking. There are a few recommendations that could be
implemented, such as having an office for the students or a longer length of time for the

The Birth Of Gods Or Goddesses In Hesiod s Theogony
Hesiod s Theogony is a poem that discusses the birth of gods or goddesses in early
Egypt. The literary work of Hesiod illustrates how the creation of gods occurred. It
also discusses the consolidation of the level of power that the gods have. According to
the poem, the author defines the power of gods as a fight that exists between the sons
and their fathers. It also defines the powers of gods as a fight that occurs between
females and males. There is a clear form of biasness demonstrated in the poem for
those who win the struggle that occurs between fathers and their sons. For instance,
there was some form of biasness that was demonstrated by male sky god Zeus towards
women. There were also forms of distortion of the other parts of the poem as described
by the author. Male powers were made to be more aggressive than female gods. Hesiod
also makes the powers of the females focused primarily on the natural deaths and births
in order to look bad to the general public. Based on his description in the poem, it is not
very easy for Zeus to be deceived in any manner. The firm stand of Zeus is demonstrated
in the poem when the author claims, Thus to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These powers consist of Tartaros, Gaia, and Eros. Each power has its own meaning. For
instance, Gaia and Eros represent the Earth and desire respectively. On the other hand,
Tartaros represents a dark region that exists under the world. From the discussion
presented in the poem, there are no males required by Gaia in order to help her
produce other members within her domain for instance sky, sea as well as mountains.
Gods had the ability to reproduce asexually. It is just after male sky Ouranos and Gaia
have mated that the process of division occurs. As a result, it leads to the entry of strife

Fearless And Stolen Play Analysis
We as the audience are engaged in an upfront manner by the individual concerns and
social issues through our chosen texts the characters in Fearless and Stolen. Stolen
written by Jane Harrison is an indigenous text which explores issues which arose as a
result of the forced removal of Aboriginal children, this is showcased by 5 children
perspective. Fearless by Mirra Todd explores stories about people we wouldn t give a
second look at, it also shows the struggles of some society s outcasts. These two texts
allow the audience to see and engage with what many Australians face every day.
Stolen is a play filled with powerful short moments which tell the audience the effects
of a child removed from all that they know, their identity being stripped away and
moulded into something foreign. When the class read the play we had empathy with
the children; they are confused of their sense of belonging, loss of their culture and a
child needing a mother. Sandy is a character consistently on the run who gives us a
contradicting statement been everywhere except one place home . The word home is a
very powerful word it allows the audience to realise you can build houses but not
homes. All Sandy really wants is a place where he doesn t have to keep hiding. Without

Industrial Revolution Inventions
The inventions of the Industrial Revolution have helped the people in many ways, here
are some of the ways they worked. It the Inventions helped the 18th century people out
very much. The point of my essay is to show what Inventions helped the 18th century and
what the people did with the inventions. The Inventions changed everything that
happened in that time and it changed what would be invented forever, and that is why it
is called the Industrial revolution.
The development of Railroads was one of the most important ideas of the Industrial
Revolution. With their formation across the US, they brought profound social,
economic and political change to a country only 50 years old. Over the next 50 years,
America would come to see great bridges

A Mosaic Of The Inevitable Disappointments And Delights Of...
A mosaic of the inevitable disappointments and delights of life, James Joyce s Dubliners
is a striking representation of the lives of not only those in early twentieth century
Dublin, but also of each one of us. As these unhappy situations progress, it is apparent
that each character is caught between contradiction after contradiction; these complex
ambiguities that reveal a text s instability are the key to understanding Dubliners(Meyer
2100). No painful situation is unalloyed: all of the characters experience a glimmer of
hope among the misery and chaos. In the intersection of these contradictions, where
characters like Mr. Duffy of A Painful Case and Gabriel of The Deadexist, Joyce presents
the compelling paradox of pain and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gabriel recognizes that his part in [Gretta s] life, and thus their marriage, has been poor,
a superficial placeholder for something more meaningful (Joyce 239). Though Joyce does
not give enough details about Gretta to surmise her feelings intentionally, of course we
can presume it is a similar one of wanting more. Simply put, the selfish nature of Gabriel
highlights how genuine romantic love is not in fact real, but is an act each party endures
for the minor benefits each one receives: it is inherently self serving.
In A Painful Case, a similar characterization of Mr. Duffy is found. He too is selfish,
jaded, and unyielding in his rigid way of life. While Gabriel has found a long term
companion to weather this loveless storm with, Mr. Duffy turns to an affair with the
respected Mrs. Sinico. The best way to understand Mr. Duffy is how he frames love:
he sees it as a burden, another opportunity to be disappointed. He too uses his
counterpart in this relationship solely as an opportunity to feel self important, as he
hopes he has [ascended] to an angelic state in the eyes of Mrs. Sinico (Joyce 117).
Given the fact that Mr. Duffy views each bond as a bond to sorrow, his dismissal of any
real genuine connection past his own shallow benefit is

Cyrano As A Tragic Hero
While many works of fiction portray love through a utopian perspective where true
love is easy to achieve, the story of Cyrano follows a failed quest for intimacy, where
Cyrano s own tragic flaws stop him from achieving the romance he dreams of. It is these
same tragic flaws that help to define Cyrano as a tragic heroin Edmond Rostand s
Cyrano de Bergerac, and it is these same flaws that eventually lead to Cyrano s tragic
fall. However, some of these flaws are also the admirable traits of the large nosed hero
s character that also help to define him as hero. Due to this fact, Cyrano is able to gain
respect from others, but never truly reaches his ultimate goal of having Roxane s love.
While Cyrano never truly experiences Roxane s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Along with his lack of self confidence, Cyrano has an incredibly strong sense of
selflessness that causes him to go to outrageous lengths to aid others. While a
respectable trait, his extreme sense of selflessness also forces Cyrano to curb his
emotions for Roxane, creating another mental blockade for Cyrano s non existent
happiness. The combination of all the negative aspects of Cyrano s traits is a key
factor in what eventually lead to Cyrano s tragic fall. Throughout the play, Cyrano
never truly reaches the great height or high esteem to the extent of other tragic heroes,
such as Oedipus and Macbeth, have reached. Nevertheless, Cyrano still goes through
the tragic fall that all tragic heroes must go through, and does so to quite a dramatic
extent. However, Cyrano s tragic flaw is much different from that of other tragic
heroes in that it is stretched over a long period of time, as opposed to the rather short
downfalls of other tragic heroes. Cyrano s tragic fall starts from Christian s death and
ends at Cyrano s own death. When Christian dies, Roxane begins to mourn for him, but
in doing so, she is mourning for the Cyrano s affection for her, which he hid behind
Christian s handsome face. While Cyrano had the capability of telling Roxane the truth
right after Christian s death, he instead chose not to say a word for fifteen more years.

N. Scott Momaday In Anthropology
In the world of anthropology, the study of human societies and their cultures or
development, the people that study those topics often turn to scientific field notes rather
than photography. Anthropologists are supposed to maintain objective and impartial
conclusions when studying cultures or societies and for years the only consistent way
of doing so was to only consider unbiased field notes, or simply scientific notes or
observations. However, over time anthropologists came to realize that the only way to be
able to see everything was through photographs that encapsulate the entirety of what is
being seen in a way that the use of merely field notes cannot. When looking at the science
of anthropology, the addition of photography into the previously field note dominated
margins of observations has had a beneficial and significant impact on the field, proving
that the use of photography in anthropology is immensely effective.
As an anthropologist, one must immerse one s self in a culture and make observations
without disturbing the culture, must find a way to understand the culture in a way that
doesn t leave a mark on it. Throughout time, cultures and societies have been altered and
changed almost entirely and field notes used to be the only way to preserve or
understand what was seen by someone studying it. N. Scott Momaday in his article,
Shadow Catcher speaks of his mentor s time observing the culture of Native Americans
preserved through captured images in a time long
Astrazeneca
In this report I will talk about the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca. A brief
corporate profile is included to give you relevant information about the company. In the
SWOT analysis, the following topics are covered: the acquisition of biotech companies,
the opportunity to enter emerging markets, the potential for slow product growth due to
failed drugs, and the threat of generic competition because of key patent expirations.
Finally, I will provide a three part plan to reduce the risk for AstraZeneca as it enters
China.
Objectives
The goal of this report is to provide information about a potential client, the
pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, for the Rizkallah Creativity Consulting Group
(RCCG). By analyzing AstraZeneca s strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats,
RCCG will be able to approach AstraZeneca with a thoughtful recommendation that will
minimize risk during the entrance of new markets and ensure success.
Methodology
Company Background
AstraZeneca is a pharmaceutical company focused on researching, manufacturing,
testing, and the marketing of new medical drugs. While AstraZeneca subsidiaries are
found around the world, the main headquarters are in the United Kingdom. United States

The change of leadership at AstraZeneca signaled a crucial change in corporate strategy.
For example, funding for research and development increased to $5 billion, this action
helps strengthen the company s future outlooks (AstraZeneca, 2007). To combat the
problems of pipeline flow AstraZeneca purchased two companies, Cambridge Antibody
Technology and MedImmune, which specialize in biologics and vaccines (Hoover s
Inc., 2008). These companies already have drugs in the late stages of product
development and on the market which will add much needed numbers to AstraZeneca s

Present Market: There are three ways to determine if there is a market. They are industry
information, consumer close up, and competition close up and the potential franchise has
all of these factors.
Competition: There are four main quick serve chicken competitors and they are KFC,

Here s a fun fact I bet you didn t know that children who participates in the labor force

Some people may consider that child labor is beneficial because the children are
learning how to work and learn about the different stuff in the world. So people may
think that child labor gives the children enough education on the real world. Also,
people think that if children works in the warehouse or extreme labor jobs then they
will be taught about responsibility. An example is that the children will start to help
their families and find out how it is to be an adult in the real world and how the real
world works. This argument may seem persuasive at first but children are put into unsafe
environments because of child labor, which can potentially kill them. Is making money

Early Moorish Architecture In America
Moorish architecture is the Western term used for describing North African and Spanish
(Andalusian) Islamic architecture. Moorish style architecture in America was largely
fantastical rather than archaeological and often combined with many other styles. This
type of architecture in America was seen as very exotic and many of the buildings
constructed in this style were non traditional. The details of the early Moorish Style were
usually blended with forms from Egyptian, Turkish, and Indian styles. This blending
occurred before there was much archaeological awareness about Moorish Styles. During
the nineteenth century, these styles were referred to as the Oriental Style, while Asian
styles were referred to as Chinese. The Oriental Style

  • 2. Serena Williams Biography World champion tennis player Serena Williams was once quoted as saying a champion is defined not by their wins, but how they can recover when they fall. I am fond of this quote because it hold true not only in sports, but in all facets of life, business, and success. I am sure many applicants can tell you stories of great success and how it was in these moments their abilities as a leader were forged. How their achievements led them to be better people and stronger leaders. My story is perhaps a bit different. My leadershiphas been derived from life experience, love, and a strong unwillingness to accept failure. In any of life s endeavors, leadership, inspiration, and guidance is derived from 3 words: Improvise. Adapt. Overcome. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An avid guitar player since I was 11, it was not long after my graduation from high school that I developed a successful career as a musician that took me all over the west coast. Realizing the situation and the requirements, I eased up on touring, shows, and recording. I relocated back home to care for my father and help my mother. I organized my father s medical appointments, kept track of his medications to ensure that there would be nothing with counteractive effects, and saw to it that they were taken on a regular basis. I also transported him to all of his chemo appointments so that he would be able to receive every possible treatment. Job conditions in Las Vegas were very sparse, so when I was unable to find work, I started my own business out of the home. This allowed me the ability to not only care for my father, assist my mother, and keep in contact with my brother, but it also afforded the opportunity to face my greatest challenge and current objective my MBA. After some time my father would overcome the cancer and his foot would heal. It was during this time that I made the decision to return back to school, to better prepare myself for the future that lay ahead This experience stands out more than most as a catalyst for the development of my leadership abilities. I am not frightened by pressure because I have been in situations where the results can be dire. Pressure can either crush you into dust or turn you into a
  • 3. Summary Of Walking And The Suburbanized Psyche In Walking and the Suburbanized Psyche, the author, Rebecca Solnit, argues that the development of suburbanization has been the primary problem as to why our modern society continues to devalue the significance and impact of walking. Suburbanization hasn t only changed the way we travel from one place to another, but it has also changed the way we communicate amongst each other and with ourselves. Walkingis looked down upon and has been seen as a symbol of low status. This has led people to exterminate the use of walking in their daily lives. However, even if someone would like to walk to their destination they can t due to the fact that places are shaping their roads to accommodate to the excess use of cars. I agree with Solnit that walking has a positive impact towards our bodies, our world, and our imagination. The wide use of transportation contributes to how society is increasingly turning away from walking. Since, the majority of people drive either their own cars or a form of public transportation regularly they have lost the sense of distance. People may never even know that the daily commute they may take to work is faster to walk to then it is to wait in traffic for. For example, recently my roommate invited me along so she should get a tattoo at a parlor in our hometown. We had to take a bus to get near to the location because it is a bit far away from UCR, but once we got off at a bus stop instead of walking the short distance that would take about 15 minutes we decided to call an Uber. We both haven t been in our hometown in a while, so instead of enjoying it we decided to take a car. At my high school, students were allowed to drive themselves to the campus beginning junior year. I never got my license during high school, so I would either be picked up by one of my parents or a friend who drove to themselves to school would. However, whenever one of my parents would pick me up they would refuse to pick me up directly in front of the school because of the ridiculous amount of traffic. They had me walk a little over half a mile each day after school to the exact same spot. Even though, half a mile wasn t a long walk I realized a difference between taking that small walk and being driven home by

  • 5. ##hropomorphizing Animal Characters In Yann Martel s Life... Authors anthropomorphize animal characters to allow readers to fully understand an animal s actions or thoughts. By doing so, the reader is able to comprehend why an animal does a certain action or how an animal behaves towards a human or another animal. One novel that employs anthropomorphism of animals is Yann Martels Life of Pi. In the novel, Pi Patel, the main character, is stranded on a boat with a variety of animals. Pi then relates his daily experiences with these animals throughout his journey across the Pacific Ocean, especially with a tiger named Richard Parker. Based on a through reading and analysis of the novel, the use of anthropomorphism is integral to Pi surviving his experience on the open water because it allows Pi to understand how animal behavior can help him survive at sea. Pi anthropomorphizes a zebra to show how weakness cannot be exhibited on a stranded lifeboat. Through his anthropomorphizing, Pi illustrates the dangers of being weak and dependent on the sea, and how important it is to be independent and strong. When Pi fell into the lifeboat, one of the first animals he saw was a zebra. Pi noticed that the zebra had a broken leg and was unable to move. Pi reasoned that if the zebra was unable to get up and move around, it would be quickly eaten by the predator animals that were also on the lifeboat. Pi said, It lay near the stern, where it had fallen, listless, but its stomach was still panting and its eyes were still moving, expressing terror
  • 6. Methamphetamine And Cocaine Essay Methamphetamine and cocaine are both in the category of drugs known as stimulants. Central nervous system are drugs that increase not only the activity of the CNS but also that of the ANS, (autonomic nervous system) resulting in both euphoria and mood enhancement (Csiernik, R. 2014). Cocaine is naturally occurring; being harvested from the leaves of the cocoa plant, whereas methamphetamine is completely man made. Methamphetamine is manufactured using common household and industrial ingredients such as over the counter cold/allergy medicines, drain cleaner, battery acid, gun cleaner, gasoline additives, muriatic acid, ammonia, lye, acetone and kitty litter (Crystal Meth Addiction.org. 2013). Methamphetamine and cocaine are similar in regards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first difference is in how methamphetamine and cocaine metabolize in the body. Cocaine metabolizes much quicker than methamphetamine, 50% is eliminated in the first hour with the primary affects lasting about half an hour. Many regular cocaine users fail to achieve the same degree of high with regular cocaine use as they did from their first time using the drug. As a result, it is common for a cocaine user to increase the amount of cocaine they are taking to make their high more intense and prolonged (Crystal Meth Addiction.org. 2013). Methamphetamine on the other hand, metabolizes approximately 50% of the dosage used in the first twelve hours, meaning is stays in the body for much longer. The high associated with Methamphetamine lasts between eight and twelve hours. Since methamphetamine stays in the body much longer, it has more time to cause damage to the brain and vital organs. When we examine the ingredients contained in methamphetamine (drain cleaner, battery acid, gun cleaner, gasoline additives, muriatic acid, ammonia, lye, acetone and kitty litter) we can see that most of the ingredients are toxic and should not be consumed by humans (Crystal Meth Addiction.org.
  • 7. Reflection About Hunger Hunger is a bit weird. You know what it is, you ve felt it before, you know what it means. But why, why do we feel hungry? How come sometimes we can t seem to eat enough no matter how much we eat? Why do we sometimes eat even if we re full? So the question is what is hunger and how does our day to day lives affect it? To start things off, the Merriam Webster definition of hunger is, A feeling of discomfort or weakness caused by a lack of food, coupled with a desire to eat . Physiologically speaking when we are hungry it is due to a hormone called Ghrelin (there are more at play here but for the time being we re focusing on this hormone). Ghrelin is a peptide hormone found in the GI tract, its function is to regulate appetite. The body sense s the stomach is empty it produces ghrelin, when it senses it has had its fill it stops secretion. When this happens it activates hypothalamic braincells and GI tract acid secretion. In laymen terms, that sensation of hunger is felt when; your brain senses you re low on energy, and the body prepares itself for food intake. The next part of the equation we have to cover is Leptin. Leptin is your body s satiety hormone, it is based in the hypothalamusand helps maintain energy homeostasis. When the acidity reaches a peak level the lateral portion of the hypothalamus produces leptin, which inhibits the release of Ghrelin. In simpler terminology, Leptin is the opposite of Ghrelin, when your body senses it needs more energy it produces
  • 8. Perception And Perception Of Perception Everybody was born in different situations and with different personalities that makes our world colorful and complicated. However, the differences in viewing the world between people cause many problems which is relevant to a concept called perception. In this essay, the concept of perception will be described through academic definitions and knowledge also with practical examples. The main objective is to provide readers with a better on what perceptionis, why it is important to the study of Organization Behaviour (OB) and the effects and implications of it onto managers job. Perception is defined as the process in which perceivers give meaning to the things they see after comprehend and rearrange the data in their brains (Robbins, 2014). The final information concluded by each person can be different comparing to the reality and the others conclusion. Briefly, perception is what our brains, instead of our eyes, see. The main reasons for those differences are the factors that influence perception. Robbins (2014) divided these factors into three categories which are the perceiver, the target and the situation. Firstly, factors in the perceiver consist of experiences, motives and emotions (Johns Saks, 2010). For example, a person who is happy at the moment will think a flower really beautiful; however, that same one when he/she is in a good mood will not care or probably show hateful attitude and behaviour to the flower. Secondly, factors in the target are as well

Although adult giant pandas have few natural enemies, the young are sometimes preyed upon by leopards. Habitat encroachment and destruction are the greatest threats to the continued existence of the giant panda. This is mainly because of the demand for land and natural resources by China s 1 billion inhabitants. To offset this situation, the Chinese government has set aside 11 nature preserves where bamboo flourishes and giant pandas are known to live. Giant pandas are being poached, because their dense fur carries a high price in illegal markets in the Far East. The Chinese government has imposed life sentences for those convicted of poaching giant pandas. The low reproductive capacity of the giant panda makes it more vulnerable to these threats, and less capable of rebounding from its low numbers. In 1984, due to its decreasing numbers, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service listed the giant panda as an endangered species under the Endangered Species Act. This means it is considered in danger of extinction throughout all of its range. This protection also prohibits giant pandas from being imported into the U.S. except under certain conditions. • 10. The Art Of Miro s The Harlequin Carnival In 1923, there was huge change in Miro s style and art like moving into more forms and sign, geometric shapes and an overall rythm of his paintings. Miro is not at all orthodox surrealist. Miro made a pictorial sign language through the mid 1920s which became a style throughout his career. By this he made a paintingnamed The Harlequin Carnival of 1924 25. There is a clear continuation of lines in this painting which is not much seen in his other works. While parents are just trying to better their children s lives, they re doing nothing but wasting their money on a very expensive and risky procedure. It s no coincidence that when CRISPR, the machine/tool used for genetic modification was released, over 40 countries produced legislation to fight against it due to the moral, legal, safety, etc. issues. With genetic modification, numerous health risks, moral questioning and possible discrimination, genetic modification is not the way to go. One of the main reasons a parent would modify their traits is to become more athletic; so, if a parent modifies their baby in order for them to grow up to be the next LeBron James , chances are they re not special for thinking of that. They think that their kid will be the superior athlete but in reality, the kid is going to be battling against many other kids that have been genetically modified, reducing their talent back down to what it would ve been prior to genetic modification. The only difference is that if the kid didn t get modification, he might ve gotten his college paid for if the parents didn t spend a bazillion dollars for this genetic treatment.... • 33. Cyrano As A Tragic Hero While many works of fiction portray love through a utopian perspective where true love is easy to achieve, the story of Cyrano follows a failed quest for intimacy, where Cyrano s own tragic flaws stop him from achieving the romance he dreams of. It is these same tragic flaws that help to define Cyrano as a tragic heroin Edmond Rostand s Cyrano de Bergerac, and it is these same flaws that eventually lead to Cyrano s tragic fall. However, some of these flaws are also the admirable traits of the large nosed hero s character that also help to define him as hero. Due to this fact, Cyrano is able to gain respect from others, but never truly reaches his ultimate goal of having Roxane s love. While Cyrano never truly experiences Roxane s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along with his lack of self confidence, Cyrano has an incredibly strong sense of selflessness that causes him to go to outrageous lengths to aid others. While a respectable trait, his extreme sense of selflessness also forces Cyrano to curb his emotions for Roxane, creating another mental blockade for Cyrano s non existent happiness. The combination of all the negative aspects of Cyrano s traits is a key factor in what eventually lead to Cyrano s tragic fall. Throughout the play, Cyrano never truly reaches the great height or high esteem to the extent of other tragic heroes, such as Oedipus and Macbeth, have reached. Nevertheless, Cyrano still goes through the tragic fall that all tragic heroes must go through, and does so to quite a dramatic extent. However, Cyrano s tragic flaw is much different from that of other tragic heroes in that it is stretched over a long period of time, as opposed to the rather short downfalls of other tragic heroes. Cyrano s tragic fall starts from Christian s death and ends at Cyrano s own death. When Christian dies, Roxane begins to mourn for him, but in doing so, she is mourning for the Cyrano s affection for her, which he hid behind Christian s handsome face. While Cyrano had the capability of telling Roxane the truth right after Christian s death, he instead chose not to say a word for fifteen more years. The huge nosed hero s
  • 34. N. Scott Momaday In Anthropology In the world of anthropology, the study of human societies and their cultures or development, the people that study those topics often turn to scientific field notes rather than photography. Anthropologists are supposed to maintain objective and impartial conclusions when studying cultures or societies and for years the only consistent way of doing so was to only consider unbiased field notes, or simply scientific notes or observations. However, over time anthropologists came to realize that the only way to be able to see everything was through photographs that encapsulate the entirety of what is being seen in a way that the use of merely field notes cannot. When looking at the science of anthropology, the addition of photography into the previously field note dominated margins of observations has had a beneficial and significant impact on the field, proving that the use of photography in anthropology is immensely effective. As an anthropologist, one must immerse one s self in a culture and make observations without disturbing the culture, must find a way to understand the culture in a way that doesn t leave a mark on it. Throughout time, cultures and societies have been altered and changed almost entirely and field notes used to be the only way to preserve or understand what was seen by someone studying it. N. Scott Momaday in his article, Shadow Catcher speaks of his mentor s time observing the culture of Native Americans preserved through captured images in a time long

Some people may consider that child labor is beneficial because the children are learning how to work and learn about the different stuff in the world. So people may think that child labor gives the children enough education on the real world. Also, people think that if children works in the warehouse or extreme labor jobs then they will be taught about responsibility. An example is that the children will start to help their families and find out how it is to be an adult in the real world and how the real world works. This argument may seem persuasive at first but children are put into unsafe environments because of child labor, which can potentially kill them. Is making money worth more than a child s
  • 38. Early Moorish Architecture In America Moorish architecture is the Western term used for describing North African and Spanish (Andalusian) Islamic architecture. Moorish style architecture in America was largely fantastical rather than archaeological and often combined with many other styles. This type of architecture in America was seen as very exotic and many of the buildings constructed in this style were non traditional. The details of the early Moorish Style were usually blended with forms from Egyptian, Turkish, and Indian styles. This blending occurred before there was much archaeological awareness about Moorish Styles. During the nineteenth century, these styles were referred to as the Oriental Style, while Asian styles were referred to as Chinese. The Oriental Style
