Difference Between Round And Square Donuts
Comparing the volumes of a round and square donut.
Which of these two donuts better fits in a dozen box?
Christina Tannous
Supervisor: Mr. Omar Rachmani
January 25, 2015
Everybody loves to have a donut every once in a while. It s a tasty desert that nobody can deny;
children all the way to adults love it. I am personally a huge donut lover! When I usually walk
through the mall I find different coffee shops selling square donuts, and not only round ones. This
is what sparked the idea in my head that there is a chance that the square donut can be economical
where it is a win win chance for both producers and consumers. I do want to prove that producing
and purchasing a different form of donuts is more economically beneficial for ... Show more content

While if the producers were to depend on producing round donuts, the donut box would not be
completely filled at the corners, leaving empty spaces at the corner and between two consecutive
donuts. The percentage increase in the amount of donut found per donut suggests as well that it is
better for the producers to make square donuts, which in this case benefits the consumer as well.
One thing that must be taken into consideration when finding the volume of a square donut is that
the corners of this donut are not perfectly edged, which means that even though it fits into a
rectangular box better than a round donut, there are still very minimal empty spaces that are not
covered.
Overall, my aim in this experiment is to prove how it will be efficient to produce a square donut
and depend on it, because it will be a new trend that everyone wants to try, there will be more
dough per donut, price change wouldn t be higher than that of a round donut since the diameter of
the circle and the length of the side of the square donut are the

Coppola s Adaptation of Bram Stoker s Dracula Essay
Coppola s Adaptation of Bram Stoker s Dracula
The legendary creature Dracula has mesmerized readers and viewers for nearly a century. In
Bram Stoker s masterpiece, Dracula, the infamous monster affects each reader in a different way.
Some find the greatest fear to be the sacrilegious nature of his bloodsucking attacks, while others
find themselves most afraid of Dracula s shadow like omnipresent nature. The fascination with
Dracula has assimilated into all parts of society. Dracula can now be seen selling breakfast cereals,
making appearances on Sesame Street, and on the silver screen. Countless film adaptations of Stoker
s original novel have been undertaken by the some of the most skilled directors in Hollywood
including, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coppola focuses too much upon the personal struggles of Dracula himself and the audience feels a
great deal of pity towards Dracula. The genius of Stoker was that his Dracula caused readers to feel
both sympathy and at the same time hatred towards the monster. James Craig Holte illustrates this
point when he says:
As Stoker recognized, classic horror is close to tragedy, and in a work of classic horror, there are
elements of pity and fear, pity for the vampire s situation but fear of his menace. Careful readers
of Dracula are at the same time sympathetic to and repelled by Dracula. Coppola, despite the best
of intentions, creates a work in which there is far more pity than fear; the sympathy finally
overwhelms the repulsion. (Holte 85)
The foundation of Coppola s film is based upon the love between Dracula and Elizobeta, and
later upon the love between Dracula and Mina. His beloved Elizobeta commits suicide in his
castle upon erroneously hearing of his death. Dracula was fighting Muslim invaders for the benefit
of Christianity, and upon his return home he is devastated by the death of his beloved wife. Due
to the fact that Elizobeta committed suicide, the head priest denies her burial in consecrated
ground. This angers Dracula a great deal and causes him to renounce God in the face of the priest.
He vows to

Analysis Of Bloom s Original Cognitive Process
A group of educators collaborated to develop classifications of learning objectives for the purpose
of creating lessons and the evaluations to accompany them. They constructed objectives to reveal
what students would be able to perform according to the education and organized them in relation
to their level of difficulty. The outcome is extensively recognized as Bloom s taxonomy. However,
there are adaptations that have drawn from Bloom and his colleagues efforts such as those from
Anderson, one of Bloom s former students, as well as Stiggins (O Donnell, Reeve Smith, 2012). In
Bloom s original cognitive process there are six thinking skills and abilities that comprise of
knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, evaluation, and synthesis. In Bloom s revised
taxonomy, modifications were made to the original version to deal with the drawbacks found in the
previous version. The improved framework now distinguishes from knowing what and knowing
how or the matter of thinking and the process utilized in problem solving (Anderson Krathwohl,
2001). Anderson and his associates assert meaningful learning presents students with the knowledge
and cognitive means required for solving problems (Anderson Krathwohl, 2001). The revised
version adapted by Anderson and Krathwohl consists of remembering, understanding, applying,
analysis, evaluation, and creating (O Donnell, Reeve Smith, 2012). By utilizing these as an outline

Immigration And Citizenship
Immigration and Citizenship in Ancient Rome and Today An issue that has always been of concern
in America is that of Immigration, and citizenship. The United States has at times been a blessed
sanctuary for those of foreign nationalities, and has at others been an unwelcoming, ostracizing
place. However, for most of our history, the rights and privileges of United States citizenship have
been an alluring proposition for those of more underprivileged means. The same could be said
about the rights and privileges of Roman citizenship in ancient times. The infrastructure, safety and
freedoms of Rome and the Roman government where unmatched. When a nation attracts large
masses the way that the United States does and the way that Rome once did, the dilemma occurs of
how exactly to go about allowing people to immigrate to, and gain citizenship into the nation.
Ancient Romehad very clear regulations for dealing with these issue, and today, the United States
does as well. If one were a person living in the middle to eastern part of Europe from roughly 700
B.C.E to 450 A.D., there were many ways one could have come across Rome. One may have heard
stories of a warring nation, within which there is revolutionary government, revolutionary civil
rights for the time, and rich commerce, one may simply live near the nation, and have found
yourself interested, or alternatively, one could be the former citizen of a nation or sovereignty
which Rome has just conquered. In any of these

boon to the profile pics and selfies that were growing in popularity, it also allowed Apple to
launch FaceTime video calling. iPhone 4S plus iOS 5 plus iCloud is a breakthrough combination
that makes the iPhone 4S the best iPhone ever. While our competitors try to imitate iPhone with
a checklist of features, only iPhone can deliver these breakthrough innovations that work

I. Introduction:
In the thirty years after the War of 1812, the United Statesgradually and painstakingly developed its
army from a nascent confederation of independent state militiamen, volunteers, and a
disproportionately smaller group of regular soldiers into a corporate body of professionals with
seemingly common standards of training, doctrine, and, arguably, discipline. Referred to as the

Correspondently, Martin Dugard addressed this theme in his less scholarly narrative, The Training
Ground: Grant, Lee, Sherman, and Davis in the Mexican War, 1846 1848 (2009).[footnoteRef:6]
Similar to Alfred H. Bill s Rehearsal for Conflict: The War with Mexico, 1846 1848 (1969),
Dougherty and Dugard suggested that military officers of the U.S. Civil War that cut their teeth in
the Mexican American War. While this correlation is well demonstrated, this treatment is particular
useful when examining the Second Seminole War in relation to the development of the Regular
Army in the 19th century. The Second Seminole War transcended the other Indian Wars in the
antebellum period in scale, duration, and complexity. Moreover, it was the testing ground for the
internal developments and regulations of the United States Regular Army and its involvement
beyond its borders. Historians recognize the Mexican American War as a proving ground for the
Regular Army on the eve of the U.S. Civil War a prologue of sorts but overlook the significance of
the Second Seminole War on the Army s ascension. The regulations and structure developed by the
Quartermaster Department during the post War of 1812 reforms were tested during the Second
Seminole War, which further guided the development of strategies relating to supplying the United
States Army during the Mexican American War. An exploration into the correlation of the
experiences of Quartermaster Department during in the Second Seminole War and Mexican
American War remains uncharted territory and is overdue for study. [6: Martin Dugard, The

The Story of Maurice White and Earth Wind and Fire
The reason I decided to prepared my paper on Maurice White, the founder of Earth Wind and Fire
is because of the fond memories that I have listening to my parents music. Music from the parents
era is very different from the music of today. Music from that era was more love oriented, rhythmic
and rich in science of musicand musical arrangements. Artists my parents are fond of consists of
music from such groups as the Four Tops, the Dells, the Dramatics, Harold Melvin and the Blue
Notes, the Chi Lites and Stylistics. They also list Junior Walker and the All stars, Al Jaureau, and
Ronnie Laws, among others, as jazz groups. However, Earth Wind and Fire s sound is unique and
quite different from all other groups of that era.

Stockholm Syndrome Typology
Stockholm Syndrome typically happens under a situation in which a victim is put under extreme
duress; situations such as kidnapping and hostage taking, among other situations. When put under
such duress, a victim will [typically] adjust themselves into survival mode ; in other words, they
change their behavior to help them survive.
One of these adjustments may end up to what they call Stockholm Syndrome. Stockholm Syndrome
is when the victim acclimates to the situation and develops a positive relationship with their captor.
Temporarily, in a hostage situation, this is great because a positive relationship between the two (or
more) can help increase the time of the incident, which mean that the hostage may escaped
unscathed.
However, long term effects of Stockholm Syndrome could be detrimental. Long term effects

Compare and contrast the three typologies of hostage takers.
There are several different typologies of hostage takers. However, there are three main types of
hostage takers that are dominant throughout the typologies. These three typologies would be the
mentally ill hostage takers, criminal hostage takers, and the crusaders (social, political, religious,
and ethnic).
Firstly, there are the mentally ill hostage takers. Out of all of the three hostage takers, the mentally
ill ones are the most common of the three. However, they happen to be the most irrational and
unpredictable of the three; most commonly threatening the death of their hostages and themselves.

Off Road Racing Research Paper
If you are a fun off road sports fan and you find it thrilling to have a good time, you can have a
great experience by riding mud bogging trucks. These vehicles are popular particularly in Canada
and the United States. Riding them is a very exhilarating experience. The mud bogging sport
combines the thrill of racing, the fun that comes from off road racing, the love of performance
vehicles and the love that little boys have of playing in the mud, which many adults still have.
This sport was introduced in the 1970s when lovers of off road racing started competing against
each other in muddy, boggy and dirty areas that they could find and this was mostly in swampy
areas of North Carolina. Mud bogging is now an organized competition since organizers of

Symbolism In Inherit The Wind
The play Inherit the wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert Edwin Lee contains many abstract
symbols that give the story a timeless essence. We see these symbols through the ongoing conflict
between evolutionism and creationism. While exploring the conflict the reader gains insight into
how exactly ones right to think freely is forbidden through the town itself Heavenly Hillsboro . The
ideathat ones right to think freely relates to another symbol, the golden dancer. Through the
wooden play horse the reader learns that nothing is as it seems and sometimes one must look
beyond the horizon. The central symbol, windwas generally used in and around the play that
suggested the mood of chaos relating predominantly to many of the relationships.... Show more

The reader is first introduced to this concept by Drummond when he says, Bert, whenever you see
something bright, shining, perfect seeming all gold, with purple spots look behind the paint! And if
it s a lie show it up for what it really is! (110). The underlying message is that you should not put
faith into something because it appears to be great. This problem arose from the fact that the
townspeople thought that creationism was perfect. These beliefs were concrete until Drummond
started to pick at them. In a sense the beauty of the horse could be related to the outer shell while
the core would be evolutionism. In actuality creationism was this beautiful lie while evolutionism
was the ugly truth. This was applied to Brady because although at first it seemed that he was
towering over everyone with a built in spotlight in end it proved to be that Brady was nothing but a
fraud. The idea of Brady being powerful connects to the golden dancer because although the dancer
appeared to have substance like Brady in the end it only broke down. All in all this demonstrates
that without the golden dancer Brady s authority would not have been questioned resulting in no
one questioning their

Stereotyping The Brain
The Wonders of Our Brain
This marvelous, complex organ is considered to be the command center that controls our every
move, and thought. However enigmatic in its own rite, it holds many ambiguities, and the key to
unlocking man s ever growing temptation to discover new ideas and concepts. Man s perception of
the brain has changed significantly. For centuries, the concept of how the brain works has intrigued
man s understanding. Man is fascinated with the human brain, its functions, and physiology.
Consequently, why we discriminate, prejudge, stereotype and engage in racist acts seems to be a
big mystery. Moreover, man can use his brain to find cures to heal and eradicate diseases, but he

This magnificent organ has set the stage for the controversial question: Are We Born Racist? A
part of the brain called the amygdala, which is an almond like shaped mass of nuclei located in the
temporal lobe of the brain near the hippocampus, plays a part in the diverse and rich social lives of
humans, emotional learning, and the variety of different functions that includes the processing of
emotions, distress reaction, and destructive behavior. The amygdala has many functions: regulate
distress reactions, hormone emission arousal, and the materialization of responsive recollections.
The amygdala is related to the construction and preservation of memories that are related to

Understanding The Communication Problem That Should Have...
Final Project
What I will be presenting for this project is solving the communication problem that should have
been solved the moment I choose my career. Since I am almost finished with my classes at the
Geauga, I planned to transfer to the main Kent campus to start my career classes in the spring. In
the meantime, the issue that is accruing at this moment is not having any social accounts that
benefits my career, which are the media and professional accounts. I plan explaining how I am
going to solve this issue by presenting the accounts that I created. I will be explaining the
Lasswell model of my accounts before and after. Then I will explain who s the sender, receiver,
and the specific impact that is effective or less effective by presenting what my accounts look like
before and explain how it changed later on by using images to explain what I done. What I choose
for my communication problem was creating four different social media accounts for my career.
The reason why I am solving this problem is because I have no social media accounts that can
help build up my career for the future. I plan transferring to Kent State main campus to finish my
career classes there. Without having these medias, it would be a hard for me to get hired from
other businesses, to promote my artwork, or being known from customer / and other artists. The
medias I created are Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter. The reason why I created

Endometriosis Research Paper
How and Why Is Endometriosis Important to Know About There are many diseases that impact a
women s life, and one of those would be endometriosis. Endometriosis is one of the many diseases
that impact a woman s life. There should be more research done on this topic so that women can
understand that their lives may be affected by this disease. Endometriosis is a disease that impacts
women s bodies and fertilitythat can have different causes but a few treatments.
Not many women know what exactly endometriosis is, because no one does research on it. There
was only twenty one reported cases of endometriosis over seventy years ago (Begley and Glick

South Florida is the southernmost part of the state of Florida and is one of three (3) commonly
used directional regions, the others being central and north Florida. South Florida includes the
densely populated areas of Miami, Florida Keys, among others. Florida and by extension the United
States, have experienced hurricanes dating back to 1900 with Hurricane Galveston and has
recorded a myriad of devastating hurricanes in its history. Hurricanes are not a new phenomenon to
South Florida, with the first devastation occurring in September 1919 killing at least eight hundred
(800) people in Key West. The most recent record was that of Hurricane Andrew in 1992, which
was responsible for twenty three (23) deaths in the United Statesand $25 billion in damages in

Islam Is A Progressive Religion
Despite popular assumption, Islam is actually quite a progressive religion. Bioethics are not set in
stone, although some scholars as well as Muslims do have strong opinions about certain bioethical
subjects. In the twentieth century, there was a very limited amount of resources in the field of
Islamic bioethics. The twenty first century has marked an influx in research on Islamic bioethics
from both Muslim religious scholars as well as studies conducted by academic researchers (Ghaly
592). In the field of religious bioethics, there tends to be a significant amount of coverage on
certain topics. In Islamin particular, scholars and the public alike readily discuss abortion and
euthanasia (Brockopp 3). Although Islamic customs emphasize the importance of community,
Islamic theology in general promotes the individual, not communal, salvation. This means that in
many situations, there are guidelines for how one should act, but individual circumstances can
differ therefore warranting a private and individual action. Westerners often overlook this aspect of
Islam, as there are a lot of misconceptions revolving around Islam and the Muslim identity. In this
sense, despite there being general rules or guidelines Muslims tend to adhere to, there is still a
heavy balance between the general rules and individual circumstances; meaning that bioethics can
not be approached from only one view.

Choosing the Wrong Pricing Strategy Can Be a Costly Mistake
Published : June 04, 2003 in Knowledge@Wharton
Prices have been at the center of human interaction ever since traders in ancient Mesopotamia our
modern day Iraq began keeping records. Who doesn t love to guess what something costs or argue
about what something ought to cost?
So it should come as no surprise that companies spend a lot of time figuring out how to price their
products and services. But two professors in Wharton s marketing department, Jagmohan S. Raju

You have to lay out the scenarios: If I do this, the competition will react a certain way. If the
competition doesn t react that way, then you have to have another plan ready. You cannot afford
to fall behind your competition. Pricing can be thought of in any number of ways. One
approach is a simple cost plus strategy: You figure out what it costs to produce an item and tack
on a nice profit margin. Another approach is to conduct research to determine what customers
are willing to pay for your product ($200 for a tiny bottle of perfume, for example) and set the
price accordingly. Another method is competition based pricing, whereby a company figures out
what its competitors are charging, then adjusts its prices up or down. All of these approaches
make some sense, but none alone is sufficient, says Zhang. With pricing strategies, the whole
really is greater than the sum of its parts. A classic example of how developing the right pricing
strategy can spell the difference between profit mediocrity and profit stardom occurred at Ford
Motor in the 1990s. For years, Ford, like other auto makers, tried to hold prices as low as
possible on entry level cars, such as Escorts. Low prices represented an attempt to attract young
buyers, with the hope that as they grew older and needed bigger vehicles they would remain loyal to

Summary of comparisons
Differences between manufacturing environment and the services environment
Manifestation of the output In the manufacturing company of Wrangler Jeans (manufacturing
environment), the output is better described as goods. These goods have a tangible sense to them.
These goods to a consumer can be felt, seen, touched and manipulated as desired. However, with the
services environment consumers are more of an intangible product offered. Plainly put these
explanations give us the distinct difference between these two environments with regards to how
the consumer is able to see these products. As an example with these companies Wrangler Jeans
manufacturers pants that are worn by a consumer, whereas Verizon provides services for consumers
including television and cell service.
Inventory
Within the manufacturing industry in general most organizations, not using Just in time inventory
(JIT), have inventory in stores, warehouses etc for consumers to purchase. The amount of inventory
held relies on areas such as demand, cash flow and even company requirements or policies dictating
the requirement. Conversely, within the service industry there is again no tangible inventory as
consumers are able to receive their service without ever touching it. They are provided the services
paid for when the customer purchases them.

The, There Is A Common Theme Of Deception
In the Bible, there is a common theme of deception. Very few characters in the Bible are not
involved in some form of a deceptive plot. This article examines the relationship between women
in the Bible and deception stories in the Bible. One major idea that this article discusses is that
lying is not looked down upon as long as it is done for the right reasons. If a weaker group uses
deception to gain an advantage over a stronger group, they are not punished but instead praised
and defended. However, it is not acceptable if a stronger power uses sneaky measures to hinder a
weaker power. The association between women and lying is so commonly made because of the
fact that women were inferior to men in biblical times, thus making their deceptive measures
acceptable in the sight of others, especially God. Deception appears to be a commonly used tool by
women in the Old Testamentand this article examines the condemnation of their actions as well
as the defense of their actions. The idea of selfless deception is accepted in this article. It states
that if women lied not for their own reasons, but for the benefit of others, they would not be
punished. The article then proceeds to give many examples such as Rebecca, Tamar, the midwives,
and others. These characters deceived selflessly in order to help others around them prosper. For
example, the midwives lied to their superior, the Pharaoh, in order to help the Israelite boys. One
would think that God would punish them for

Architecture Style And Architecture Of The Taj Mahal
CHAPTER 1
1.0 INTRODUCTION A story makes an old building charming. In reality, a pleasing exterior view
does not ensure people will be attracted to the particular heritage building. It is the story behind the
heritage building that gives meaning to both building and people. As a heritage building, the
building itself has been passed the test of time and becomes a typical landmark for a city. Hence,
the story of the building explained its architecture style and structure which makes it be a
remarkable building. For instance, Sultan Abdul Samad Building (SASB) has a unique
architectural design which is the mixture of several architectural styles. This result is caused by
the Charles Edwin Spooner, the state engineer of Public Work Department, Selangor, who worked
in Ceylon before transferred to Selangor. He preferred to design a Mughal style building on a
Classic Renaissance style ground plan which suggested by A.C. Norman. Moreover, British
Victorian style is incorporated into this building s design as the British colonized Malaya. This
story explained its unique architectural structure while gave the new generation a better

Disintermediation could lead to economic crisis because of the importance of banks in the

It increases the size of the capital market and generates more business for investment banks,
brokers, and fund managers because of the advisory role. It enables borrowers to borrow at a
lower cost and investors get higher rate of return, but they lose the safety of the banking system in
the process. (Patrick Artus, October 2012.)
Main reasons for Bank disintermediation are as follows:
High Rate of Borrowing: If the Bank s rate of borrowing is high, borrowers tend to seek lower
cost of financing for example, issuers of commercial papers, etc to reduce overall interest expense
and ultimately improve on company s cash flow from operations.
Low Interest Rates: Low interest rates on deposit and savings accounts could lead to financial
disintermediation because depositors who want higher returns on their deposits will be looking at
alternative ways of improving their yield. Also policies like regulation Q and Regulation D
promulgated by the Federal Reserve Board in the United States in 1933, though regulation Q does
not exist anymore led to imposition of interest rate ceilings on various other types of bank deposits,
including savings and time deposits. The imposed limit on savings deposit interest rates encouraged
the rise of alternatives to banks, including money market funds.

Everlast What It s Like Meaning
The song What it s Like by Everlast is all about not judging. Everyone s situation is
circumstantial; the first line of the chorus God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in his shoes
sends that message pretty well. Life is all about accepting people for who they are. I feel like this
song and video gives people a glimpse into another person s life to show them that they don t really
know what it s like to be in that situation.
People tend to lock themselves in a box, like at the end of the video, and pretend there s nothing
bad in the world; this, however, is not true. The world is full of people who are constantly going
trough rough patches or people who can t catch a break. The video also shows all these people,
whom are always being judged with lines like Get a job, you fuckin slob and They call her a

The Plan For Public Health And Safety
The next component of the General Plan is the plan for public health and safety which addresses
issues of: Geology and Seismicity, Flooding and Drainage, Noise, Air Installation Land Use
Compatibility, Hazardous Materials, Crime Prevention and Protection Services, Fire Prevention and
Suppression Services, Disaster Preparedness, Emergency Medical Facilities. The issue of geology
and seismicity is important to the Lancasterarea at large due to its location being less than ten
miles south of the San Andreas Fault. Major earthquakes in the area present a problem for
citizen s safety and possible property damage. A similar issue is that of flooding and drainage.
Because Lancaster exists within a valley and is relatively flat, the area is prone to flooding. One
of the current propositions is to include flood water basins. The water basins to mitigate for the
100 year flood are essentially large ditches on the corner of neighborhood streets. When a water
basin sits in the middle of a neighborhood it is not a functional part of the surrounding environment
and can become an eyesore in a community. This probably causes the NIMBY ism around water
basins, no matter how beneficial they may be. Noise is a very prevalent issue in Lancaster, due to
the amount of aeronautical activity conducted on EAFB. The Cityhas rezoned the flight area in
order to decrease the amount of overhead flights in the urbanized areas. This plan is mimicked in
the Air Installation Land UseCompatibility portion.

A Comparative Analysis Of Fasting, Feasting By Anita Desai
Though the novel ends in facilely compromising way of Sita s returning with her husband and
children to the dull and disgusting Bombay life, she doesn t make any attempt to liberate herself
from the shell of psychic paralysis and resigns herself passively to the inanimate and insipid life of
Bombay which in reality is a limbo of death in life.
In Fasting, Feasting, Anita Desai uses light touch, simple language, uncomplicated structure, but at
the same time addresses some very big issues and makes a point. In this novel Uma and Arun are
children of Mamapapa, the apparently indivisible common identity that parents present. These
parents, however, are not at all alike. Mama is protective, perhaps selfish, and not a little indolent.
Papa is a parsimonious control freak who locks away the telephone because someone might use it.
But they are at least together. Their relationship has survived, despite the long wait for a son, and
their disappointment at his disability. Fasting, Feasting presents apparent opposites, two
contrasting, if imbalanced scenarios, India and the USA. It offers two deformed observers, Uma
and Arun. It unpicks two contrasting cultures and finds that women are slaves in both. The
opposites are thus ultimately similar, hardly opposed.

Causes Of Operation Anaaconda
Lack of Planning during Operation Anaconda
It has been 16 years since the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and
Pentagon which resulted in thousands dead, thousands injured and millions affected across the
globe. In the wake of these terrorist attacks, the Nation had been rocked at its core, as symbols of
our freedom lay in rubble and ash. These acts of terrorism aimed to tear the country apart but much
to the terrorists surprise, their acts brought the Nation together with one common goal in mind. As
Americans, there was no choice but to expeditiously act with force and make clear statement that

Should Child Soldiers Be Given Amnesty
One topic that has been debated recently is whether child soldiers from other countries are
victims or perpetrators, and whether they should be given amnesty or not. Many believe that
child soldiers are the victims, since they have no choice but to join or else they would be killed,
and should also be given amnesty since they don t know what they are doing because they are
filled up with drugs. However, those child soldiers should be mentally sane to be given amnesty
and earn their citizenship the way immigrants earn their citizenship. One significant piece of
evidence to support the claim that child soldiers are both the victims and be given amnesty is
Ishmael who is a former child soldier who has been given amnesty and he tells others about his
experience as a child soldier. He was taking refuge in a camp and forced to be a soldier. Before,
he and other child soldiers went on missions they were given drugs and he does not remember
much of what he had done. This piece of evidence supports the claim that child soldiers are the
victims and should be given amnesty, because it shows that they do not have a choice in
becoming a soldier and are given drugs so they are not are thinking clearly and they don t know
what they are doing. Another piece of evidence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Why Do School Books Should Be Banned From Schools
Books are an essential to both school and after school life. They are the messages that have shaped
our country. Unfortunately, many books have been banned from school libraries all across the
United States for their messages or the themes they possess. While these books could be read out

some aspects I do not agree with, I do, however, believe this is a good policy because it preserves

We and the only We. This kind of society oppresses man s inborn thirst for knowledge and
creativity, although one character still possesses the want for knowledge. Equality 7 2521 is the
man cursed with the nature to want to know more, even though he is lashed he still persists on
his quest for knowledge. What is Equality s motivation if not for joy, and it is not for the greater
good for mankind? The simple answer may be curiosity, for no punishment could change him
from wanting to know. Equality is motivated for multiple reasons, one being curiosity, the desire
to create something to call his own, and to be part of the council of scholars. Curiosity killed the
cat, but it is also the reason we are so technologically advanced today. A society without curiosity
would have no will, no drive, and people would wander around without meaning. This trait,
curiosity, is the basis of mankind. As shown in the book, Equality possessed curiosity. He said, But
we loved the Science of Things. We wished to know. We wished to know about all the things which
make the earth around us. We asked so many questions that the Teachers forbade it. (23) The

Equality felt pride and joy in seeing something that was truly his own. In the book, all men were
supposed to report findings of the unknown, and share them with their brothers. In the book
Equality and International had found a tunnel from the Unmentionable Times. This was a chance
for equality to have a hideaway, to keep something as his own. Equality took the tunnel as his own
for inventing, and to get away from his brothers. He knew the crime could land him in the palace of
corrective detention, but the motivation to claim something as his own must have been strong. His

High Social Circle and Waltz During the Eighteenth Century
Scandalous! Sinful! Outrageous! Believe it or not, these are all adjectives used to describe the
waltz in the eighteenth century. Beginning within the Alps of Austria, the intoxicating spins and
steps of the waltz were born. Not long after, however, the waltz took Europe by storm. Johann
Wolfgang von Goethe, a German writer, even stated in 1765 that people felt obliged to learn [the
waltz], for without knowledge of this dance, it was impossible to enter the highest social circles.
Although this partner danceis now practically a necessity in social ballroom events, the rise of the
waltz would prove to be a difficult journey. Controversy over this popular social activity was not
lacking from political and religious leaders. From scandalous to classy, the waltz is a famous
traditional type of ballroom dancing that has greatly influenced many dance styles around the world.
While the waltz has been around for hundreds of years, the steps used today are actually not a
part of the original dance. It is generally accepted that the exact origins of the waltz are fairly
obscure. However, it is theorized that the waltz was a product of evolution from a dance called the
ländler (Britannica). As like various other dances, the waltz has evolved through the ländler
along with cultural and social advances. Created in the countryside of Austria, the ländler was a
type of couple s dance that became widely popular in the late eighteenth century when composers
began creating music for

Toronto s Public Transit System Analysis
Toronto s public transit system is a mess, and it is about to get much worse. Congestion on
Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) buses and subways already stops many Toronto commuters
from even considering taking public transit, despite the gridlock on city roads. In 2013, an average
of 900,000 daily commuters crowded onto overcrowded buses and subways, according to a TTC
operating statistic, further burdening a system that severely failed to keep up with Torontos
population growth. (TTC Operating Budget, 2013) In ten years, the ridership on the Yonge
University Spadina line jumped from 583,000 people per work day to 711,000. (ibid). With the
population of the GTA projected to double, over the next 20 years, another million vehicles will join

Compounding all this has been a refusal by both the Ontario government and the GTA s municipal
councils to impose congestion charges (user fees/service charges/toll booths/vehicle registration
tax) or other measures that would deliver sustained funding for transit expansion. Municipal shares
of both operating and capital subsidies for public transit in Canada come primarily from property
taxes, supplemented in some cases by special levies on gasoline sales, parking and hydro

  • 3. Difference Between Round And Square Donuts Comparing the volumes of a round and square donut. Which of these two donuts better fits in a dozen box? Christina Tannous Supervisor: Mr. Omar Rachmani January 25, 2015 Everybody loves to have a donut every once in a while. It s a tasty desert that nobody can deny; children all the way to adults love it. I am personally a huge donut lover! When I usually walk through the mall I find different coffee shops selling square donuts, and not only round ones. This is what sparked the idea in my head that there is a chance that the square donut can be economical where it is a win win chance for both producers and consumers. I do want to prove that producing and purchasing a different form of donuts is more economically beneficial for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While if the producers were to depend on producing round donuts, the donut box would not be completely filled at the corners, leaving empty spaces at the corner and between two consecutive donuts. The percentage increase in the amount of donut found per donut suggests as well that it is better for the producers to make square donuts, which in this case benefits the consumer as well. One thing that must be taken into consideration when finding the volume of a square donut is that the corners of this donut are not perfectly edged, which means that even though it fits into a rectangular box better than a round donut, there are still very minimal empty spaces that are not covered. Overall, my aim in this experiment is to prove how it will be efficient to produce a square donut and depend on it, because it will be a new trend that everyone wants to try, there will be more dough per donut, price change wouldn t be higher than that of a round donut since the diameter of the circle and the length of the side of the square donut are the ... • 4. Coppola s Adaptation of Bram Stoker s Dracula Essay Coppola s Adaptation of Bram Stoker s Dracula The legendary creature Dracula has mesmerized readers and viewers for nearly a century. In Bram Stoker s masterpiece, Dracula, the infamous monster affects each reader in a different way. Some find the greatest fear to be the sacrilegious nature of his bloodsucking attacks, while others find themselves most afraid of Dracula s shadow like omnipresent nature. The fascination with Dracula has assimilated into all parts of society. Dracula can now be seen selling breakfast cereals, making appearances on Sesame Street, and on the silver screen. Countless film adaptations of Stoker s original novel have been undertaken by the some of the most skilled directors in Hollywood including, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Coppola focuses too much upon the personal struggles of Dracula himself and the audience feels a great deal of pity towards Dracula. The genius of Stoker was that his Dracula caused readers to feel both sympathy and at the same time hatred towards the monster. James Craig Holte illustrates this point when he says: As Stoker recognized, classic horror is close to tragedy, and in a work of classic horror, there are elements of pity and fear, pity for the vampire s situation but fear of his menace. Careful readers of Dracula are at the same time sympathetic to and repelled by Dracula. Coppola, despite the best of intentions, creates a work in which there is far more pity than fear; the sympathy finally overwhelms the repulsion. (Holte 85) The foundation of Coppola s film is based upon the love between Dracula and Elizobeta, and later upon the love between Dracula and Mina. His beloved Elizobeta commits suicide in his castle upon erroneously hearing of his death. Dracula was fighting Muslim invaders for the benefit of Christianity, and upon his return home he is devastated by the death of his beloved wife. Due to the fact that Elizobeta committed suicide, the head priest denies her burial in consecrated ground. This angers Dracula a great deal and causes him to renounce God in the face of the priest. He vows to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Immigration And Citizenship Immigration and Citizenship in Ancient Rome and Today An issue that has always been of concern in America is that of Immigration, and citizenship. The United States has at times been a blessed sanctuary for those of foreign nationalities, and has at others been an unwelcoming, ostracizing place. However, for most of our history, the rights and privileges of United States citizenship have been an alluring proposition for those of more underprivileged means. The same could be said about the rights and privileges of Roman citizenship in ancient times. The infrastructure, safety and freedoms of Rome and the Roman government where unmatched. When a nation attracts large masses the way that the United States does and the way that Rome once did, the dilemma occurs of how exactly to go about allowing people to immigrate to, and gain citizenship into the nation. Ancient Romehad very clear regulations for dealing with these issue, and today, the United States does as well. If one were a person living in the middle to eastern part of Europe from roughly 700 B.C.E to 450 A.D., there were many ways one could have come across Rome. One may have heard stories of a warring nation, within which there is revolutionary government, revolutionary civil rights for the time, and rich commerce, one may simply live near the nation, and have found yourself interested, or alternatively, one could be the former citizen of a nation or sovereignty which Rome has just conquered. Hurricane Intervention Paper South Florida is the southernmost part of the state of Florida and is one of three (3) commonly used directional regions, the others being central and north Florida. South Florida includes the densely populated areas of Miami, Florida Keys, among others. Florida and by extension the United States, have experienced hurricanes dating back to 1900 with Hurricane Galveston and has recorded a myriad of devastating hurricanes in its history. Hurricanes are not a new phenomenon to South Florida, with the first devastation occurring in September 1919 killing at least eight hundred (800) people in Key West. The most recent record was that of Hurricane Andrew in 1992, which was responsible for twenty three (23) deaths in the United Statesand $25 billion in damages in South Florida. Bioethics are not set in stone, although some scholars as well as Muslims do have strong opinions about certain bioethical subjects. In the twentieth century, there was a very limited amount of resources in the field of Islamic bioethics. The twenty first century has marked an influx in research on Islamic bioethics from both Muslim religious scholars as well as studies conducted by academic researchers (Ghaly 592). In the field of religious bioethics, there tends to be a significant amount of coverage on certain topics. In Islamin particular, scholars and the public alike readily discuss abortion and euthanasia (Brockopp 3). Although Islamic customs emphasize the importance of community, Islamic theology in general promotes the individual, not communal, salvation. This means that in many situations, there are guidelines for how one should act, but individual circumstances can differ therefore warranting a private and individual action. Westerners often overlook this aspect of Islam, as there are a lot of misconceptions revolving around Islam and the Muslim identity. In this sense, despite there being general rules or guidelines Muslims tend to adhere to, there is still a heavy balance between the general rules and individual circumstances; meaning that bioethics can not be approached from only one view. Who doesn t love to guess what something costs or argue about what something ought to cost? You have to lay out the scenarios: If I do this, the competition will react a certain way. If the competition doesn t react that way, then you have to have another plan ready. You cannot afford to fall behind your competition. Pricing can be thought of in any number of ways. One approach is a simple cost plus strategy: You figure out what it costs to produce an item and tack on a nice profit margin. Another approach is to conduct research to determine what customers are willing to pay for your product ($200 for a tiny bottle of perfume, for example) and set the price accordingly. Another method is competition based pricing, whereby a company figures out what its competitors are charging, then adjusts its prices up or down. All of these approaches make some sense, but none alone is sufficient, says Zhang. With pricing strategies, the whole really is greater than the sum of its parts. A classic example of how developing the right pricing strategy can spell the difference between profit mediocrity and profit stardom occurred at Ford Motor in the 1990s. For years, Ford, like other auto makers, tried to hold prices as low as possible on entry level cars, such as Escorts. Low prices represented an attempt to attract young buyers, with the hope that as they grew older and needed bigger vehicles they would remain loyal to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These goods have a tangible sense to them. These goods to a consumer can be felt, seen, touched and manipulated as desired. However, with the services environment consumers are more of an intangible product offered. Plainly put these explanations give us the distinct difference between these two environments with regards to how the consumer is able to see these products. As an example with these companies Wrangler Jeans manufacturers pants that are worn by a consumer, whereas Verizon provides services for consumers including television and cell service. Inventory Within the manufacturing industry in general most organizations, not using Just in time inventory (JIT), have inventory in stores, warehouses etc for consumers to purchase. The amount of inventory held relies on areas such as demand, cash flow and even company requirements or policies dictating the requirement. • 31. The, There Is A Common Theme Of Deception In the Bible, there is a common theme of deception. Very few characters in the Bible are not involved in some form of a deceptive plot. This article examines the relationship between women in the Bible and deception stories in the Bible. One major idea that this article discusses is that lying is not looked down upon as long as it is done for the right reasons. If a weaker group uses deception to gain an advantage over a stronger group, they are not punished but instead praised and defended. However, it is not acceptable if a stronger power uses sneaky measures to hinder a weaker power. The association between women and lying is so commonly made because of the fact that women were inferior to men in biblical times, thus making their deceptive measures acceptable in the sight of others, especially God. Deception appears to be a commonly used tool by women in the Old Testamentand this article examines the condemnation of their actions as well as the defense of their actions. The idea of selfless deception is accepted in this article. It states that if women lied not for their own reasons, but for the benefit of others, they would not be punished. The article then proceeds to give many examples such as Rebecca, Tamar, the midwives, and others. These characters deceived selflessly in order to help others around them prosper. In reality, a pleasing exterior view does not ensure people will be attracted to the particular heritage building. It is the story behind the heritage building that gives meaning to both building and people. As a heritage building, the building itself has been passed the test of time and becomes a typical landmark for a city. Hence, the story of the building explained its architecture style and structure which makes it be a remarkable building. For instance, Sultan Abdul Samad Building (SASB) has a unique architectural design which is the mixture of several architectural styles. This result is caused by the Charles Edwin Spooner, the state engineer of Public Work Department, Selangor, who worked in Ceylon before transferred to Selangor. He preferred to design a Mughal style building on a Classic Renaissance style ground plan which suggested by A.C. Norman. It increases the size of the capital market and generates more business for investment banks, brokers, and fund managers because of the advisory role. It enables borrowers to borrow at a lower cost and investors get higher rate of return, but they lose the safety of the banking system in the process. (Patrick Artus, October 2012.) Main reasons for Bank disintermediation are as follows: High Rate of Borrowing: If the Bank s rate of borrowing is high, borrowers tend to seek lower cost of financing for example, issuers of commercial papers, etc to reduce overall interest expense and ultimately improve on company s cash flow from operations. Low Interest Rates: Low interest rates on deposit and savings accounts could lead to financial disintermediation because depositors who want higher returns on their deposits will be looking at alternative ways of improving their yield. Also policies like regulation Q and Regulation D promulgated by the Federal Reserve Board in the United States in 1933, though regulation Q does not exist anymore led to imposition of interest rate ceilings on various other types of bank deposits, including savings and time deposits. The imposed limit on savings deposit interest rates encouraged the rise of alternatives to banks, including money market funds. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The issue of geology and seismicity is important to the Lancasterarea at large due to its location being less than ten miles south of the San Andreas Fault. Major earthquakes in the area present a problem for citizen s safety and possible property damage. A similar issue is that of flooding and drainage. Because Lancaster exists within a valley and is relatively flat, the area is prone to flooding. One of the current propositions is to include flood water basins. The water basins to mitigate for the 100 year flood are essentially large ditches on the corner of neighborhood streets. When a water basin sits in the middle of a neighborhood it is not a functional part of the surrounding environment and can become an eyesore in a community. This probably causes the NIMBY ism around water basins, no matter how beneficial they may be. • 37. A Comparative Analysis Of Fasting, Feasting By Anita Desai Though the novel ends in facilely compromising way of Sita s returning with her husband and children to the dull and disgusting Bombay life, she doesn t make any attempt to liberate herself from the shell of psychic paralysis and resigns herself passively to the inanimate and insipid life of Bombay which in reality is a limbo of death in life. In Fasting, Feasting, Anita Desai uses light touch, simple language, uncomplicated structure, but at the same time addresses some very big issues and makes a point. In this novel Uma and Arun are children of Mamapapa, the apparently indivisible common identity that parents present. These parents, however, are not at all alike. Mama is protective, perhaps selfish, and not a little indolent. Papa is a parsimonious control freak who locks away the telephone because someone might use it. But they are at least together. Their relationship has survived, despite the long wait for a son, and their disappointment at his disability. Fasting, Feasting presents apparent opposites, two contrasting, if imbalanced scenarios, India and the USA. It offers two deformed observers, Uma and Arun. It unpicks two contrasting cultures and finds that women are slaves in both. The opposites are thus ultimately similar, hardly opposed. Should Child Soldiers Be Given Amnesty One topic that has been debated recently is whether child soldiers from other countries are victims or perpetrators, and whether they should be given amnesty or not. Many believe that child soldiers are the victims, since they have no choice but to join or else they would be killed, and should also be given amnesty since they don t know what they are doing because they are filled up with drugs. However, those child soldiers should be mentally sane to be given amnesty and earn their citizenship the way immigrants earn their citizenship. One significant piece of evidence to support the claim that child soldiers are both the victims and be given amnesty is Ishmael who is a former child soldier who has been given amnesty and he tells others about his experience as a child soldier. He was taking refuge in a camp and forced to be a soldier. Before, he and other child soldiers went on missions they were given drugs and he does not remember much of what he had done. Equality 7 2521 is the man cursed with the nature to want to know more, even though he is lashed he still persists on his quest for knowledge. Beginning within the Alps of Austria, the intoxicating spins and steps of the waltz were born. Not long after, however, the waltz took Europe by storm. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, a German writer, even stated in 1765 that people felt obliged to learn [the waltz], for without knowledge of this dance, it was impossible to enter the highest social circles.
