2. Symptoms, Diagnosis, And Treatment Of Asthma
Imagine yourself on a cold, gloomy Winter night being awakened by the endless
chest pain and the persistent abnormal breathing that you ve had to deal with all
night. And then it occurs have you ever heard about a fish without water not being
able to breath that s how it feels to have asthma or experience an attack at least. I was
diagnosed with asthmawhen I was approximately ten years old which gave rise to a
new fear not knowing when or where I might experience another asthma attack.
Because I want to be a nurse anesthetic in the future, I want to learn more about one
of the diseases that I have, I also want to learn more about its symptoms, diagnosis,
and or treatment.
To begin with, asthma is defined as a chronic respiratory condition characterized by
breathing symptoms of varying intensity and frequency (Plottel 2). The word
symptom is defined as what the patient notices, experiences, and reports to his or her
treating physician as abnormal or different from usual. Some of the Medical Textbook
or classic symptoms of asthma may be wheezing, coughing, and abnormal dyspnea.
While in the office or clinic on the other hand, some may experience an unusual
awareness of breathing, uncomfortable breathing, chest pressure or a feeling of chest
discomfort, wheezing or noisy breathing, labored breathing, coughing, mucus
production, and breathless with exertion or effort. Dyspnea is an abnormal awareness
of breathing; kind of breathless (Plottel 34). According to Plottel,
3. Probation Vs Parole
Before discussing the differences between probation and parole, it is helpful to have
an understanding of their definitions. After learning the definitions, we can discuss
the difference between the two legal definitions. So, what is probation? And, what is
parole? What is probation? Probation refers to conditions when a criminal serves a
sentence in the community and must adhere to specific conditions. Probation is a
form of criminal sentence without actually serving time. This sentence is usually
given to first time offenders and for nonviolent crimes. When a criminal receives
probation, instead of pronouncing the sentence and sending them straight to prison or
jail, the judge gives them an opportunity to show that he or she wants to rehabilitate
himself or herself. As long as a criminal abides by the terms of probation, the
defendant remains free. Being on probation means one has to report to a probation
officer, refrain from using drugs and alcohol, maintain a job, and cannot commit any
crimes while on probation. A defendant might have to... Show more content on

Parole is granted to offenders before their sentences run out and is reserved for
serious offenders. Offenders have to serve a big portion of their time before being
eligible for parole. Being on parole may require a defendant to stay in a halfway
house and have to pay fines or fees. The defendant has to report to a parole officer
who will explain the rules of being on parole and monitor his/her progress. If a
parolee fails to comply with parole conditions, then the parole officer will file a
report with the parole board. The parolee can have his/her parole revoked by the
parole board and be forced to prison to finish his/her original sentence. The board
can also reinstate a defendant s parole. A defendant can be on and off parole up until
his/her sentence is
4. Mrs. Mallard Deceiving
The first few lines of Kate Chopin s, The Story of An Hour are deceiving because
of the natural assumptions the reader makes based on societal ideals. As the story
goes on, it becomes more apparent that Mrs. Mallard is not so heart broken about
the death of her husband. Why would a woman in 1894 be happy about news of her
husbandpassing away? He was her source of income and the community would pity
her for losing her husband. However, Mrs. Mallard saw her husband s deathas a away
out from a marriageshe didn t really like, so she took the opportunity. Mrs. Mallard
tried to act normal when she first heard the news of her husbands death. She
eventually went into her room alone where she realized that she was free of the
burden she felt... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mallard says how seeing her husbands dead body will be upsetting, but describes
him as the face that had never looked save with love upon her (429). Her saying
this depicts how she truly feels about her marriage and thinks that her husband
didn t really love her. She begins to realize the freedom she will be able to
experience now that he is gone. Mrs. Mallard says But she saw beyond that bitter
moment a long procession of years to come that would belong to her absolutely.
(429). She is dreaming of the independence she can now experience and does not
want to look back. This challenges society because most women would feel
threatened, alone, and vulnerable at the thought of having no income or man, but
she views it as the beginning of her life. She would live for herself. (Chopin 429).
This goes against everything her society believes. Mrs. Mallard craves the
independence she has never been able to experience because of society s limited
scope on life and marriage. Mrs. Mallard is ahead of her time which is what has made
her life so hard up until this point where she finally feels relief. She keeps saying
Free! Body and soul free! (429) which makes her seem almost delusional as if she had
been dreaming of this for some time. She dreams of Spring days, and summer days,
and all sorts of days that would be her own.
5. Pestle Analysis
Compiling and Using a PESTLE Analysis
1.1 A PESTLE analysis is a tool that acts as a prompt to the staff and governors
involved in the analysis of the developments in the school s environment that could
affect its risk profile. It may help them carry out a more comprehensive analysis.
The initials stand for: Political e.g. a new government initiative creates the risk
that the school may fail to deliver the policy or be diverted away from local
priorities etc. Economic e.g. central or local government funding decisions may
affect school finances, closure of a local industry may affect fund raising plans etc.
Social e.g. demographic changes may affect likely pupil rolls or the nature of pupils

pupils with English as a second language etc. Technological e.g. new computer
viruses may affect school operations, disturbing images on the internet may affect
ICT security measures etc. Legislative e.g. new legislation may create risks of non
compliance with the law, create new administrative burdens etc. Environmental e.g. a
new road layout near the school may create new dangers for pupils etc.
1.2 The key to using PESTLE successfully is to prepare thoroughly before the
meeting and: ask people to think about the external factors that may affect the school
s risk profile so they are prepared for the joint meeting ensure staff and governors

PEST Analyses
A PEST analysis (also sometimes called a STEP, PESTLE or STEEP analysis) looks
at the external business environment. PEST stands for Political, Economic,
Sociocultural and Technological. Technological factors in this case, include
ecological / environmental aspects the second E in STEEP and PESTLE, while
legislative factors are included under Political (the L in PESTLE). The analysis
examines the impact of each of these factors (and their interplay with each other) on
the business. The results can then be used to take advantage of opportunities and to
make contingency plans for threats.

6. Media Multitasking
Annie Paul focused on student s actions when multitasking complex activities such as
doing homework while using social media. The younger generation (M2) that has
grown with technology is lacking the will power to focus on one complex endeavor
at once. Media multitasking while learning is a common task in students, they are
learning spotty information if they aren t giving their full attention. Paul opens with a
study on observing: middle school, high school, and college students. Throughout
each grade most opened some type of social media while working academically.
Even though these students knew they were being observed, the students didn t hold
back on doing their regular routines. It didn t take the students long to drift away
from their homework. It s a form of anxiety to the younger generation, no one wants
to miss out on the new trends and news.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the University Dominguez Hills the observers used an Observation research
technique. Amongst using this technique it has it s advantages: observing without
disruption and disadvantages: no control over behavior. But their disadvantages
worked to their advantage; it helped them accurately examine media multitasking
habits within the M2 generation. David Meyer a phycology professor at University
of Michigan studies divided attention and analyzes the effects on the brains abilities.
He concluded that the brain couldn t take on many complex activities at once. They
are competing for the same mental resources; the tasks use the prefrontal cortex area
of the brain. But, Meyer also says that it is difficult to measure someone s mental
process therefore how can he make an accusation saying they can t do two complex
things at once. It might take longer to complete but it can be
7. Things Fall Apart Imperialism Essay
Chinua Achebe was educated in the West, though he hails from an African tribe. His
exposure to both African and Western thinking gives him a unique perspective on the
colonization of Africa, which is argued to be barbaric by some, but beneficial and
necessary by others. In Things Fall Apart, Achebe perspective comes through as he
masterfully describes a pre colonization African tribe, and how colonization
percolated through it. His authentic accounts of the positives and negatives of both
tribal society and colonization leave the reader to answer the question of whether
imperialism was morally justifiable or not.
Initially, Things Fall Apartcontains no traces of colonization. Instead, Achebe
describes many of the customs of the people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Okonkwo is angry after being made a fool of by colonization, and takes his anger out
on the white man s messenger by murdering him. Okonkwo has accidently murdered
someone before, but this time, he does not stay to face the consequences. He commits
suicide. This uncharacteristic act is brought about by colonization. Okonkwo realizes
that colonization has won, and does not intend to face the consequences that the new
government forces upon him for murder. With this last scene, Achebe illustrates how
the white man took away freedom. Thus, the question of colonization s morality in
this book boils down to whether the reader values the freedom to practice ones own
culture over the need to distinguish questionable practices in this culture. Achebe
leaves the decision to the reader. The tribe has a patriarchal society with certain
questionable customs, but also a close knit community and a rich culture. On the
other hand, the introduction of colonization totally destroys the tribal way of life,
disproving some of the tribal beliefs and vandalizing certain traditions, but also
brings an escape to those who disagree with tribal
8. The Topic For My Capstone Project Was To Gain
Introductory
The topic for my capstone project was to gain introductory knowledge for
penetration testing. I had little knowledge on the subject itself, but I was interested
in it enough to base this project around it. What I knew before hand was very basic
information and I would need to learn a lot more before I could consider myself fully
introduced to penetration testing. The goal of my capstone was to learn how to
safely practice penetration testing, set up a virtual machinepenetration lab, learn why
a lab would need to be set up, and lastly to find out why penetration testing is
important.
Penetration testing is when a company pays a specialist to try and break into their
network and relay back to them any vulnerabilities they may find. Now ... Show more

Using these labels and their definitions explains the purpose of penetration testing a
bit better. White hats use the same methods and tools to break into networks as a
black hat would, but they disclose the security issue with the network owner. In a
sense, a white hat imitates a malicious attack but there would be no harm done to the
network.
What are the vulnerabilities in which a penetration test would look for? Most
penetration tests would go through an information gathering state in which they
look for as many different possible vulnerable targets, and they may also capture
the network traffic and investigate that as well. One example of an attack could be
infiltrating the file server and uploading a payload to that server. If an attacker can
find their way to accessing the file server, depending on what is kept on it, they
could also have access to secure files and any other sensitive information kept on it,
possibly any of the configuration files to that file server holding hashes for user
passwords. Attackers may also look for any vulnerable programs on network
computers for more ways into the system. Depending on how much effort a hacker
wants to go through there is an endless amount of areas that they can check for
vulnerabilities. Anything from scanning port numbers to bypassing the firewall
without being detected, networks can be well secured but not to a point of being
100% safe from any
9. The Importance Of Year-Round Schooling
Year round schooling is a system that lengthens the amount of days spent in school by
shortening the duration of vacations. Although students may think otherwise, year
round schooling should be enforced in schools today. Year round schooling keeps
students stimulated, throughout the entire school year. Year round schooling
improves a student s academic and social performance as well as supporting families
financial strains. If year round schooling is not enforced, the academic scores of the
students will continue to decrease.
Year round schooling increases students academic performances. A study from the
California State Department of Education shows that standardized test scores
increased an average of 9.5% in Grade 3 with an average increase
10. For Mystical Creatures And Humans, There Are A Variety
For mystical creatures and humans, there are a variety of differences that each other
needs to know. For both the development of their relationship in a TV show or film
would be demonstrated as the human getting to know how their loved one survives
and how they would not get killed by them; they would also demonstrate the idea of
how the vampireis so deeply in lovethat he would never hurt the human. As an
example: Elena learns about vampires from the Salvatore brothers, Stefan and
Damon, when they both fall in love with her. At first they try to hide it but later it
becomes too obvious to keep away from Elena since supernaturalpowers came up
(super speed, compelling). As in for Twilight, the same happened to Bella. Edward
chased her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Modern day vampire s capabilities of giving and receiving love give the insight
that they are much more human than what they were perceived in previous novels.
Earlier stories like Dracula and The Vampyre demonstrated lust over love because
the main idea was to seduce humans to fall for them then kill them which was how
it made them look like monsters; with TVD and Twilight, self control plays a major
role when vampires are around those they love, they learn to control the urges of
biting them and use an alternative option like drinking animal blood instead of
human blood. They care more about the safety and feelings of the human rather than
their own selfish desire for human blood; therefore they create a more sentimental
idea and demonstrate a form of love by doing this.
The human also shows their love by learning how to accustom their new life with
their vampire lover. The mortal has to cooperate with what the vampire does to
stay alive like still eat animals for the need of blood. They too have their fair
amount of work and need to follow rules in order to stay in this dangerous
relationship because loving the supernatural does not come easy. Elena in TVD used
a necklace with vervain (harmful plant for vampires) to keep herself safe from any
compelling or bites from any vampire including her boyfriend. In Twilight, Bella did
not use anything but Edward would protect her from other vampires wanting her
blood. But
11. My Personal Statement On Elementary Education
I was home on leave after serving 15 months in Iraq, spending time with my family
and connecting with people I haven t seen in a while. My mother arranged for me
to speak to my brother s 3rd grade class since they had written letters to me while I
was deployed. It was something I felt that I owed since the letters were cheerful and
really helped when I was over there. I was a bit nervous because I have never done
something like this before, public speaking was not a strong suit of mine. While
visiting with the students and answering questions I fell in love with being in the
classroom. After finishing my commitment to the military, I continued my education
and got my degree in Elementary Education. I am currently finishing up my 3rd year
in teaching 2nd grade and love every minute of it.
Critical thinking is something that should be taking place during every lesson. I
engage my students in this higher level order thinking by asking multi level questions
that may have more than one answer. I also foster thoughtful discussions during out
social learning lessons, such as encouraging healthy debate. Being able to
communicate and elaborate their thinking is important. Because I teach at the
primary level so sometimes in order to get students to engage in critical thinking, I
have to model it through discussion or through work. In the discussion, I use various
questioning strategies and use various introductory phrases in order get students to
open up and reveal that they are
12. Pros And Cons Of An Unwritten Constitution Of The UK
In order to ascertain if the United Kingdom ( UK ) has an uncontrolled constitution as
the Attorney General states in the case of Jackson v the Attorney General 2005, the
concept of what a constitution is needs first to be considered. Thomas Paine thus put
a constitution is not the act of a government, but of people constituting a government,
and a government without a constitutionis a power without right . A constitution can
be split into categories such as, an unwritten constitution and a written constitution,
otherwise known as codified and uncodified. An unwritten constitution is where there
isn t one place you can go to in order to find the constitution, there are in fact a
number of sources and precedents which in turn make up the... Show more content on

These seem to assert controls on the constitution, but conventions cannot actually
be enforced. Jennings defines conventions as provide the flesh which clothes the
dry bones of the law . The convention of collective responsibility is often broken,
recently Hazel Blears attacked Gordon Browns government as being lamentable as
she believed Labour where misreading the mood of the British people. However as
shown by the case of Attorney General V Cape Town ltd Even if conventions exist
they are unenforceable at law . All that can be done is give rise to legitimate
criticism , for example the minister may be asked to step down or could lose their
place at the next cabinet reshuffle. Showing not all sources of the UK constitution,
such as convention, lay down controls on the constitution.
Alternatively, constitutional doctrines such as the Rule of Law highlight controls on
the constitution as regardless of the power an individual wields, they can t alter the
constitution in a way that goes against the Rule of Law. Dicey s second theme of
the Rule of Law was the idea no one is above the law, equality before the law. This
definition illustrates the fact that everybody is under the law, including Members of
13. Change In Circumstances
Circumstance has a wonderful power to change people in different ways. I have
chosen to explore the theme People change in different circumstances. This theme is
evident in the short text Dulce et decorum est by Wilfred Owen, Refugee mother and
child by Chinua Achebe, and movie Unbroken by Angelina Jolie and The maze
runner by Wes Ball.
At the beginning of the text Dulce et decorum est, a war poet experienced the horrors
of gas warfare during World War Ifirst hand. He enlisted with a group of soldiers
was willing to fight for their country and die for their country. Wilfred Owen thought
it was patriotic to die for his country, but he changed his mind after he experienced
the war and pointless death. The example The old lie; Dulce et Decorum ... Show

A mother holding her dying son in her hands for the last time compare to how
other mothers no longer care about their children. This shows that people will
change in different circumstance even family bond will not escape. The struggle
of surviving caused those mother to give up on their children. The example Most
mother there had no long ceased to care but not this one. helps emphasize a fact
that most mothers no longer care about their children because of the harsh
circumstance they were suffering in. This is important because most mothers love
and care about their children very much, but due to the tough life they were living
in, they changed. Another example, She held a ghost smile between her teeth and
in her eyes the ghost of a mother s pride as she combed the rust coloured hair left
on his skull and then singing in her eyes. helps emphasize a fact that there was a
mother who still care about her son, she was also struggling with life. However, she
didn t give up her son. The shows that the harsh circumstance changes people not
only in a negative way but can also change people in a positive way. The mother has
the courage to took care about her son, the harsh circumstance made their family
bond even stronger. This links back to Wilfred Owen s case when he changed his
mind, There
14. Australian Human Rights
Currently the Australian Constitution identifies five explicit human rights which
every Australian is entitled to. Section 51 (xxxi) expresses that property can only be
taken from a State or person by the Commonwealth on just terms. Section 80 details
that everyone has a right to a fair trial by a jury and section 116 implies freedom of
religion in that no laws are to be made in order to define or prohibit any religion
(Findlaw Australia, 2016). Section 41 of the Australian Constitution gives citizens the
right to vote by stating that no person should be prevented from voting for
representatives in the House of the Parliament of the Commonwealth
(Commonwealth Consolidated Acts, unkown). Section 117 conveys that no

Common law is set by precedents and customs that have been developed over
lengthy periods of time rather that statutes. It allows judges to interpret current
legislation which allows for flexibility when difficult and unique cases arise. When
precedents are set a common law is created, for example the unique case of Kevin
and Jennifer v Attorney General (2001). This case was the first in Australia to deal
with the topic of transexuatal marriage. It followed the example of the United
Kingdom s Corbett v Corbett (1971) case which defined what it was to be female or
male (Oxford University Press, 2003). The Australian courts decision to allow Kevin,
a transextual man, to marry meant that any future transexual people who wished to
do the same were permitted by common law. Although common law is set by
magistrates, the Commonwealth Government is able to expand or reduce common
law as they see necessary (Australian Human Rights Commission, 2015). Important
human rights are protected by common law including the presumption of innocence
and the right to sue for false imprisonment (Australian Human Rights Commision,
2009). Common law is not a solidly structured form of human rights protection
although it does allow flexibility within court cases while the ability for the
government to alter common law provides further assurance in that no common law
can not be altered. Issues may also arise from allowing the government to possess
this power because while Australia is a democracy, voters may not consider human
rights as an important issue when choosing who they would like to govern
15. Pit Bulls Research Papers
Many dogs and cats will walk in and out of many shelters in the U.S. but many Pit
Bulls will be able to walk out with a family. I tried to look for someone who has
had experience within the kennels and to see firsthand the consequences of the
negative reputation Pit Bulls in order to demonstrate the struggle that Pit Bulls
faced. I met Jenna Keyes, a Humane Educator, who works for the St. Joseph
Animal Shelter and deals with animal control and rescue. I walked into her office
where the many pictures of animals on the wall cued to me that she clearly was an
animal lover and I was in the right place for my interview. Keyes explains that
before working at the shelter, she worked with horses and did dogtraining at boarding
kennels. In addition,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was only a few times where they have been negative. It s impressive that her
experiences have been positive considering some come from abused or neglected
situations, which often go on and become adopted dogs. Keyes explained to me that
if the dog has an ID tag they will contact the owners and let them know that the
shelter has their dog. If the dog doesn t have a chip or ID tag, then they would begin
the process of taking documentation of the dog by giving it a name and number. Next,
the animal shelter documents the weight and vaccinates it in order to prevent the dog
from catching any easily transmitted disease such as kennel cough. In addition, the
shelter takes a picture of the dog and monitoring their behavior to make sure that
the dog is in a position to become adoptable. At last the shelter places it for
adoption or sends the dog to a rescue organization. Furthermore the officer that
responded to the call will write a report. Keyes also made a point that this would be
the same process with any breed of dog and not just Pit Bulls. I was wondering if
Pit Bulls were a more common commodity in the shelter than any other breed. Keyes
assured me that even though Pit Bulls do come frequently, they are not the only
breed that frequently goes through the shelter. She was telling me that there are
many Labradors due to their popularity in the community, and many Lab Pit mixes
as well. In addition, Keyes also pointed out that, Right now most of our kennel is
Chihuahuas and Pit Bulls . Learning that there many Pit Bulls in the shelter made
me wonder if the stereotype of aggressive Pit Bulls was shown during their stay at
the shelter, so I asked Keyes the number of Pit Bulls that were truly aggressive and
not

Museum Essay
In order to compose this assignment, I visited the University of South Florida
Contemporary Art Museum (CAM). The USF Contemporary Art Museum is a
compact museum on campus located near the Dance buildings and the Theatres. The
museum opened its establishment in 1989 and has offered a wide range of art from
around the world including the United States, Africa, Europe, and Latin America
(usfcam.usf.edu). In order to keep students engaged in the art, the museumchanges its
exhibits a couple times a year. Currently, the exhibition on display is entitled
Extracted and incorporates the extraction and circulation of natural resources around
the globe (Megan Voeller). Despite the museum being not large in size, I was able to
attain a sense of nature through photographs, sculptures, video messages, and banners
produced from artists including Otobang Nkanga, Marina Zurkow, Claire Pentecost,
Mary Mattingly and Daniel Shiffman. The social angle most strongly related to the
exhibit on display at this time is nature and culture. Extracted was motivated by
relationships between humans and the environment referring to complex technical
processes behind oil drilling and mining or industrial agriculture (Megan Voeller).
Most of the artists focus their work on nature including the environment, ecosystems,
and life itself. One artists in particular whose work stood out to me was Claire
Pentecost with her work Soil erg. This distinct exposition was located in the hearth of

Calaveras...
Imagine sitting at a coffee shop in New York City. The day is November 18, 1867.
A person has just picked up a copy of the Saturday Press, a newspaper which is
known for publishing short stories (Powers). One of the short stories featured in the
newspaper is, Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog , which will soon become The
Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County. by a newly found writer known as
Mark Twain(Powers 154). Twain carries a heavy burden, spurred on by the Civil
War, which ended in 1865 (Gerald 336). After reading the story, all the maladies
brought about from five years of fighting are suddenly lifted.(Powers 154). In Mark
Twain s The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, several of literary
themes are incorporated, like creating a tall tale, as well as the ideal of deception,
which Twain continually brings back to the reader throughout the novel. In The
Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County by Mark Twain, his greatest
techniques are his use of characters, setting, conflict, humor, while giving an
interesting point of view.
In The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, as in many of his other
works of literature, Mark Twain creates many memorable characters. One of the
main reasons Mark Twain does this is to create a believable character. The longer the
character is in the story, the more the reader learns about the character, making the
character become more believable. Easterners of this era held many preconceived
ideas
20. Aids in the Bahamas
AIDS in Bahamians, ages 15 44
A major cause of death of Bahamians in the age group 15 to 44 is AIDS. This is a
result of unprotected sex, ignorance and the reluctancy to get tested and treated.
Many Bahamians engage in sexual intercourse without the use of contraceptives.
Ignorant to the dangers of AIDS, they believe that nothing will happen. When and if
there is a slight belief that one is infected with AIDS, Bahamians tend to hesitate to
get tested or treated because of appearances. However, as research, investment and
commitment into understanding HIV and AIDS increased, so the outcome of people
living with HIV improved around the world ( AVERTing HIV AIDS ). With
innovative and private methods many organizations have formed for ... Show more

Moreover, 93% of females can transmit the AIDS virus to males during unprotected
sex. Furthermore, 94% of the combined sample recognized that the AIDS virus can
be transmitted through heterosexual relations. In addition, Rodgers and Rolle state
that only 32% of the sexually active combined sample ensured that they always
used condoms during sex. This means that 68% of the sexually active adolescents
in this survey are conducting in unprotected sex which can very well, lead to
AIDS. It is evident that in this age group, these is reckless and irresponsible
engagement in sexual activity which has led to the dangerous AIDS epidemic.
After interviewing Ms. Sandra Smith, age 21, it was found that she was a prime
example of a young Bahamian engaging in reckless unprotected sex adding to the
AIDS epidemic. Ms. Smith said, I was 20 when I found out I had AIDS. I have
about six serious partners before I got tested. I had sex with them all without using
protection . When Ms. Smith was asked why she did not use a condom she responded
by saying, I really do not know why I did not use a condom. I guess it was all in the
heat of the moment. It was all fun, at the time ! Ms. Smith ended the interview by
saying that, I regret doing what I did, my stupid actions, not using protection. It is
the reason that I have AIDS. I am not proud of my actions but it is the truth. I have
AIDS and I will probably live a short life because I had unprotected sex .
21. The North Netherlandish Painter Hieronymus Bosch As
The...
The North Netherlandish painter Hieronymus Bosch was considered as the most
enigmatic artist of his epoch. According to an earlier Spanish writer, Don Felipe de
Guevara, who reports that Bosch painted bizarre and wondrous figures because his
themes were so often focus on Hell but that he executed even these creatures with
decorum and good judgment. Bosch blends his innovative aesthetic principles into his
religious paintings, this could tell in two perspectives: firstly, Bosch s works
presented with them with an astonishingly new version of religious subject matter
that mirrored the haunting obsessions of the inner man; second, the numerous
imitations and travesties of his pious works that were considered authentic or reliable
copies of his paintings had, in fact, only obscured and perverted the true meaning of
his are and misled critics in interpreting his religious sentiment. It earned him the
reputation of a bizarre visionary. The famous Italian Renaissance painter Sandro
Botticelli had visualized the funnel shaped hell in 1480~1490 according to Dante s
depiction of the Inferno in the Divina Commedia, yet in the following decade,
Hieronymus Boschrendered the foreign hermeneutic text in a different way by his
brush. Bosch was from a well off family, which released him from the bond of
commission, he was not relying on his paintings to earn a living; therefore, Bosch
could freely express his ideas on the panel without any restraints. As a Netherlandish
painter who

As the day went on strange thing continued to occur. In math the shadows seemed to

I saw her dead behind the school Sylvia said as Loretta came up next to her.
That can t be. She s been here with us. Loretta said no pulling Sylvia into a side hug.
You must have soon some kid that overdosed who looks like her. Why don t we go

23. The Rebirth Of The Renaissance
This world has become a realm full of astonishing art ranging from the Stone Age,
Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Greek and Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Islamic,
Middle Ages, Early and High Renaissance, Venetian and Northern Renaissance,
Baroque, Neoclassical... to our modern art. Each age is either influenced by the
previous one or artists explore whole new concepts and innovations to complete
something that has never been done before. As new civilizations rise new concepts
and techniques for art are formed with them, such as the iconography, compositions,
and media used. Throughout all these ages art has been a huge part but none have
prioritized art as much as the Renaissance, also known as the rebirth. The
Renaissance was the time of the great revival of art, literature, and learning in Europe
(started in Florence). The rebirth began in the 14th century and extended to the 17th
century, some say that it was marking the transition from the medieval to the modern
world. Artists developed their own new innovations that are still used in
contemporary art. The development of linear perspective and other techniques of
achieving a natural and realistic painting were greatly used. Many great artworks
where created throughout the Renaissance. Two great masterpieces done in this time
period were Leonardo Da Vincis Last Supper, and Raphaels The School of Athens.
These two pieces show the complexity of beliefs that were going on during the
rebirth. Leonardo s Last Supper, is one of

My Brother Sam Is Dead by Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier is a novel
about a boy named Tim and his mother, Susannah Meeker, and his father, Eliphalet
Life Meeker, and their journey throughout war when their oldest son, Sam, goes
off and fights in the American Revolution. The novel starts off with Sam returning
home after being away for a long time serving his country in the war and college.
His surprise homecoming was fun at first, until he and his father started getting into
it because of their different opinions on the war. Sam believes that Redding isn t
free and that their king should not rule their land because he lives 3000 miles away
from Redding. He also believes that the king is giving them unfair taxes that is
making them richer that they already are. On the other hand, his father disagrees
completely. He thinks that everyone should obey the king and that his taxes aren t
really that bad. Later on, while doing chores, Sam confides in Tim his plan to steal
their father s gun in order to fight. Tim protests, but he can do... Show more content

25. Types And Types Of Pneumothorax
Pneumothorax occurs when air gets into the pleural space between the two layers,
and separates them. Majority of the time only part of the lung collapses, except for in
severe cases the whole lung can collapse, therefore it is emptied of air. The types of
pneumothorax being discussed are primary spontaneous pneumothorax, secondary
traumatic pneumothorax, iatrogenic pneumothorax, and open or tension
pneumothorax. Along with the discussion of the pathophysiology, the topics such as
diagnostic tests and primary diagnosis, pharmacological interventions, vulnerable
groups, and the nursing diagnosis are also examined.
Pathophysiology
Primary spontaneous pneumothorax, occurs unexpectedly in healthy people, and it is
often caused by the rupture of blebs which are blister like formations, on the visceral
pleura. Around ten percent of people affected with this have a family history of
primary pneumothorax that was linked to mutations in the folliculin gene which
influences cell cell adhesion, (Huether McCance, 1254). Bleb rupture can occur
during rest, sleep, or even exercise. Secondary traumatic pneumothorax can be caused
by chest trauma such as a gun shot wound, stab wound, surgery, or rib fracture.
Iatrogenic pneumothorax is usually caused by transthoracic needle aspiration.
Symptoms of iatrogenic pneumothorax are similar to those of a spontaneous
pneumothorax and depend on the age of the patient, the presence of underlying lung
disease, and the extent of the pneumothorax,
26. E Business Vs. E Commerce
Introduction Today, it is hard to find a software that does not have some sort of
access to users information; going from their name to their credit card information.
In fact, with the evolution of technology (most importantly the increase in access to
the internet), E business or E commerce has been pushed to a new level. Today,
customers want to be able to access services at anytime, anywhere. This has led to
the development of applications that can be executed on distributed environment or
in real time such as Web based applications or a Client server application. Hence,
secure software development is not an option but a must that software engineers have
to put in practice so that data integrity can be guaranteed to users. The... Show more

As a consequence, an increasing number of users and organizations have expressed
the need of more robust systems and applications. Hence, this fact implies
incorporating an effective security stage into the development life cycle in order to be
able to efficaciously assess security issues. Secure software development cycle not
only encompass the development and the implementation of a software but, also the
processes that guaranty that a piece of software meets its requirement while
minimizing expositions to malicious threats that could expose users and minimizing
the cost of development (Microsoft.com) Planning and requirements Requirement
analysis is probably the most important and more complex process in the Software
Development Life Cycle framework. In Secure software development, senior
developers, together with stakeholders, not only discuss the fundamental of the
SDLC such as project planning, assessing product feasibility studies and management
requirements, but also define set of activities to formalize the security requirements
for a specific product release (SafeCode source). These activities are defined using use
cases, strategic company security policies, defined security improvement goals and
customers inputs. This implies identifying functional and non functional
requirements and applying a high risk assessment on them in order to determine
security risks and to prioritize security requirements as per threat and risk
27. Crime And Deviance In The Dark Knight By Christopher
Nolan
Throughout The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan crime and deviance is seen
throughout the film. Crime and deviance in The Dark Knight has two faces as
society accepts crime for those whose are helping them and at the same time punishes
those who are punished. Society in Gotham accepts crime when the Batmancommits
it to help for the betterment of society; however, crimeis not accepted when it is
committed by mob bosses, gangs, criminal cops, and most importantly through the
joker. The forms of deviancy/crime which are seen throughout the film is the
Labeling Approach, Human Rights Approach, and Human Diversity Approach. The
Labelling Approach is a theory in which an individual s identity is determined or
influenced by the terms that is used to describe or classify them, through the use of
serotyping someone. This is seen within The Dark Knightwhen the Joker recruits
those who have been labelled as mentally insane, or have been outcast by society.
This makes them believe that have a sense of being within society as they start to
create their own society, and those who do not follow the norms that the Joker puts
into place. Through allowing the joker to recruit those who have a negative label,
do to the Joker having a label himself of being a villain by both sides of society.
Not being accepted by anyone, even his own, which forces him to act on such a
label through committing crimes that are not even the norms of the criminal
society. This behavior is being seen as a rationale by both sides of society the
general public, and criminals by not allowing the Joker and his associates fit within
the norms that are being set for them. This also helps society within Gotham to
make sure that those with a label are not socially accepted such as those that have a
mental illness, and who perform criminal acts. However, at the same time it gives
the people of Gotham as a sense of power over those that have a label, and the sense
that they have a position over society. Furthermore, the Human Rights Approach
argues that crime occurs whenever a human right is violated, no matter of what
context the crime is being committed, regardless of whether the crime was legal or
not. This is seen within The Dark Knight when

Bilingual Education vs. English Immersion in California
Growing up in a Mexican household, I had the fortune of speaking two languages.
The first language I first mastered was Spanish and then came English as I entered
primary school. My hometown is predominantly Hispanic, and in the area I live in
is mostly Mexican. When one drives around the cracked streets of East Salinas, one
can feel the strong presence of the Mexican culture. On one side, one can hear the
man in a cowboy hat blasting Banda music, and on the other, the bells from an ice

Bilingual education is necessary and beneficial for students learning English. There
are a lot of misconceptions about bilingual education being taught in schools. In
article Spanish/English Bilingual Children in the Southeastern USA: Convergence
and Code Switching , written by Daniel J. Smith, argues that Hispanic students placed
in bilingual classes interchange Spanish and English words commonly in sentences
whether it is verbal or written. He argues that code switching is common when
children interact with other Spanish speaking children. He states if English is
enforced, there would be less code switching and more convergence in the English
language. Smith believes that there would be less grammatical errors and the
students would be less confused. Although this seems like a good argument, Smith
never mentions in the article what the outcome will be if classrooms are switched to
English only. When an immigrant has been in the country for such a little time, of
course they are going to suffer from grammatical errors if they are barely starting to
learn English. Students need to be placed in a classroom where the English language
is introduced to them through their native tongue. Students can improve their English
skills by this way of learning. For instance, when a high school student is required to
take a language class like French, Spanish, or Japanese, English is still used to help
those start dominate the language. It takes time for

A Northumbrain monk, very likely the bishop Eadfrith, illuminated the codex in the
early eight century. Mathew s cross carpet page exemplifies Eadfrith s exuberance
and genius. A mesmerizing series of repetitive knots and spirals is dominated by a
centrally located cross. One can imagine devout monks losing themselves in the
swirls and eddies of color during meditative contemplation of its patterns. In it s
composition, Eadfrith stacked wine glass shapes horizontally and vertically against
his intricate weave of knots. On closer inspection many of these knots reveal
themselves as snake like creatures curling around tubular forms, mouths clamping
down on their bodies, changing colors like a chameleon. The sanctity of the cross,
outlined in red with arms out stretched and pressing against the page edges, stabilizes
the backgrounds gyrating activity and turns the repetitive energy into a meditative

John Edwards Biography
Many Americans recognize John Edwards as the second coming of Jimmy Carter; the
soft spoken Democratic Senator from the south. They know him as the running mate
of John Kerry in his 2004 Presidential campaign. But before the North Carolina
Senator entertained aspirations of President or Vice President of the United States,
John Edwards made a name for himself as a successful trial lawyer, a strong husband
and father, and charismatic politician.
Born in Seneca, South Carolina on June 10th 1953, Johnny Reid Edwards was raised
a Methodist and learned the values of hard work and perseverance from his father,
Wallace and mother, Bobbie, while growing up in Robbins, North Carolina. Working

In Congress, Senator Edwards quickly emerged as a champion for the issues that
make a difference to American families: quality health care, better schools,
protecting civil liberties, preserving the environment, saving Social Security and
Medicare, and reforming the ways campaigns are financed. As a member of the
Select Committee on Intelligence, Senator Edwards worked tirelessly for a strong
national defense, and strengthening the security of our homeland. He authored key
pieces of legislation on Internet and port security, as well as biological terrorism.
During the latter part of 2001 and throughout 2002, Edwards engaged in serious
politicking, and on January 2, 2003, he announced the formation of a presidential
exploratory committee, declaring himself a champion for regular folks. On
September 16th 2003, in front of the old Milliken Mill (his father s workplace of
thirty six years) in Robbins, North Carolina, Sen. Edwards formally announced his
candidacy for President during the 2004 elections. Although there was no rule or law
against his inhabitance of a Senate seat while running for President, John Edwards
announced that he would not seek re election, so that he could focus all of his efforts
toward his Presidential campaign.
Some viewed Edwards as a very viable candidate, given his success as a Senator in
North Carolina. He also had a

Merck was one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Merck was
about to lose patent protection of two of its best selling drugs, which had been a

dollars into research (up to $1 billion) and within three years, Merck was able to
discover four powerful medications. Profits weren t all that Merck cared about;
Merck s founder believed that medicine is for people. It is not for the profits. He also

In application, people might view Merck s duties in different ways. For example,
one might argue that as a company Merck only has responsibilities to release
effective and safe medications and to make a profit to stay in business. On the other
hand, it could be argued that as a pharmaceutical company Merck has special
obligations to follow leads (like ivermectin) because they may greatly benefit human
beings or save lives despite being unprofitable.
Utilitarianism is relevant to the Merck Co. case in that it would have been important
for Merck to predict whether researching the drug further, or playing it safe with
other research, would produce the greatest benefit for the largest number of people.
One side would argue that while river blindness patients are poor, treatment would
be of great benefit to those infected (and their families/communities), so research is
warranted. On the other hand, one might argue that it would be of equal or greater
benefit to research medications for more common diseases where patients can afford
medication. They may also argue that if the company went out of business as a result
of ivermectin research that more people would be harmed from the loss of Merck s
other research and medications.
Also, the Rights theory is appropriate in this case, because one might argue that
basic human rights are involved. Merck might be responsible to do research with
ivermectin if it s decided that some basic right is being broken.
32. Linear Regression ( LR ) Equation In Excel
Introduction The general intention of this Module Two Case Assignment is to
generate a Linear Regression (LR) equation in Excel. We will be formulating this
equation by exploiting data gathered by our client, the New Star Grocery Company,
this organization relies that their consumer influx correlates with their monthly sales.
Thus, we will commence this assignment by deliberating upon the means, in which
we developed this equation.
Development
Henceforth, in developing this equation, we gathered the data provided by our
clients with respect to the monthly sales and the amount of consumers that shopped
at New Star Grocery for year one. We next capitalized on the benefits of technology
by harnessing the capabilities of YouTube. Subsequently, we discovered a video
broadcasted by Tom Kleen, which the author of the video coached us on the methods
behind the exploitation of Excel 2013. As a means, to produce our Linear Regression
(LR) equation for this exercise (Kleen, 2013).
Therefore, the first step we took was to highlight our data that would be captured
onto the X and Y axis. This data being the total number of consumers that purchased
products from the New Star Grocery Company on a monthly basis for year one,
which was annotated onto the X axis. Next, we captured the Y axis data which was
the monthly sales totals. Important to note here that at this stage it is where our LR
equation launches into formulation. Thus, we now recognize our sales will either
decrease or increase determined by the quantity of consumers (Nguyen, 2017).
Upon, identifying the aforementioned data we proceeded onto creating our chart. We
then moved onto to literally type our chart title and axis titles for this particular
chart. Subsequently, we advanced forward and inserted the trend line, in addition, to
discovering the manner. In which, we could access and display our equation (Kleen,
2013). Therefore, the following equation was disclosed as an integral component of
this process, this modus operandi was displayed as y=0.648x+111.65. Consequent to,
us completing the previously mentioned steps. We proceeded to search for methods
via utilization of YouTube with regards to forecastingsales for year two. Immediately,

Community Service is not strange to me because I have been doing community
service at Northview Church since the beginning of my sophomore year in high
school. When I saw the assignment that I have to complete 4 hours of community
services, I knew that Northview church was my first choice. Northview church
was found by Tommy Paino in October 1980. There were only 30 people in the
cafeteria of Carmel Elementary School where they formed the church which later
become Northview Church. Three years later, in the month of July, 1983. 285
people attended the last service at Carmel Elementary School, then they moved to
the church s new place which is located at 131st and Gray Road. In the late 1985,
the church bought an 81 acre of land located at the highest point in Hamilton County
on the southwest west corner of Main Street in the city of Carmel. This is the place
the church is currently located at ( Northview Church History ). Throughout my
service, I learned that the church s mission is to connect people with God and
connect people with people. They value relationships, spiritual growth, and the ability
to reach out to those who are far from God.
During my four hours of community service, I did many things such as mowing grass,
throw wastes into the dumpster by driving a tractor, and clean the sidewalk by using
a wind blower. To other people, it may seem like that there are just light duty work,
but to me every work done will make the community look better no matter how light
34. The Role Of God In Thornton Wilder s The Bridge Of San...
Throughout history, the role of God in human life has been repeatedly questioned by
many and various explanations have be offered. Thornton Wilder demonstrates his
belief that God is a difficult being to understand through the setting, characters, and
the society as a whole in his novella The Bridge of San Luis Rey. The central plot of
the story is based in Peru, where Wilder is able to communicate his message. Peru as
a whole is a country plagued by various tragedies like earthquakes and tsunamis, so
much so that the citizens of peru blantaly state that they are just acts of God(Wilder
2). The society s acceptance of the power of God in the story is Wilder
demonstrating his beliefthat the general populace, when faced with a tragedy, with
ease submit to the will of God. The narrator of the story confirms this belief with
the statement sparrows do not lose a feather that has not been brushed away by the
finger of God (Wilder 4). In Peru, every thing is believed to be under the influence
of God, and Wilder, in his mind, is recreating modern society in his story. A brief
study on the writing style of Wilder shows that [He] sets his book in a faraway
time and place... [his style consists of a] reflective work, with religious and
mystical overtones (Evan para 2). The choice of Peru as the focal point of the story
allows Wilder to easily demonstrate religion in his story as Peru is a colony of Spain
during that era and Spanish colonies have the strong characteristic of

Should Cars Be More Efficient? Since the industrial revolution, huge steps have been
made in terms of discovering and utilizing new technologies and different types of
fuel for the purposes of transportation. Before the advent of the modern automobile,
the widely used means of transport were horses, carriages, and walking by foot.
These means of transport posed major challenges due to the fact that transporting
supplies from one warehouse to another was difficult. However, with the introduction
of the first car, it was a great reap forward towards eliminating most of the
transportation hurdles. The advent of automobiles was accompanied by a
corresponding need to consume more fuel in form of oil and gas. At first, the

Among the contributing factors to this trend is the fact that cars are being
produced in large numbers and in many varieties. Due to a large supply of cheap
vehicles, more and more people can now afford to purchase cars (Researcher, 2009,
p. 384). However, the other side of the coin raises the issue of fuel consumption and
environmental pollution. The current trend in fuel prices has depicted a major
challenge of fuel shortages both at present and in future. As a result, governments
and other stakeholders in the energy sector have been prompted to set higher fuel
efficiency standards to curb the imminent fuel crisis. At the same time,
environmentalists have been up in arms against the trend of CO2 emissions from
vehicles and industries citing the resultant devastating effects of global warming.
Governments have faced increasing pressure from advocates of environmental
sustainability to put in place concrete measures to eradicate the problem of fuel
inefficiency especially in relation to the transport sector. Therefore, the argument of
whether cars ought to be made more efficient has been motivated by the dire need
to reduce CO2 emissions from cars (Government, 2003, p. 20025). There are two
sides of the debate regarding this issue as some have supported the idea while others
have opposed. It is worth noting that the drive to increase fuel
36. Compare And Contrast The Gettysburg Address And
Lincoln s...
Over the course of the Civil War and his presidency, Abraham Lincoln deliver many
influential addresses to the public. Probably most Americans would consider the
three most influential of these addresses to be the famed Gettysburg Address and
Lincoln s first and second inaugural Address. In reading these three addresses, it
seems apparent that Lincoln views the basis of the conflict to be the nation
separating. From the text Opposing Viewpoints in American History, it is quite
clear that Lincolns main goal throughout his presidency was not to abolish slavery
(though it was a high priority of his) but rather to preserve the Union. Evidence for
this can be seen in the Gettysburg Address when Lincoln says, Now we are
engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation (the one the fathers brought
forth), or any nation so conceived and dedicated, can long endure (parenthesis
added). Furthermore, in Lincoln s First Inaugural Address, he tells the South that
he is not planning on taking their property. If slavery were the main cause of the
war, that would be his highest priority. Finally, in his Second Inaugural Address,
Lincoln asserts, While the inaugural address was being delivered from this place,
devoted altogether to saving the Union without war, insurgent agents were in the
city seeking to destroy it without war seeking to dissolve the Union and divide
effects by negotiation. Lincoln went on to say that both parties wanted to avoid
war but one of them would make war rather than let the nation survive, and the
other would accept war rather than let it perish, and the war came. As for the
subject of what will end the war, Lincoln appears a little vaguer. According to The
Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, many Republicans wondered why
Lincoln had not given a prediction as to when the war would end in his second
inaugural address. However, Lincoln hints at a solution in his second inaugural
address. Near the end of his address Lincoln quotes Matthew 18:7, which reads, Woe
unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe
to that man by whom the offence cometh! He then continues essentially asking that if

In the Book X of the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle concludes that a life of
contemplation is the best and happiest life for both gods and humans. According to
Aristotle, the life of reason and contemplation will be the happiest because it is the
highest form of activity. The life of contemplation as considered by Aristotle, is
the best life because it is a characteristic of how the gods lived their own life.
Aristotle explained this statement in details when he states that the life of
contemplation is more Godlike. These arguments are valid and also sound because
he believes the life of contemplation to be the best life because it is Godlike. And
since it is Godlike it can be considered the best life. This is therefore sound because
what is considered good by the gods is good for us.
Before dwelling into Aristotle contemplative life, the link between pleasure and virtue
must be made first in order to understand his ideas about contemplative life. The link
between pleasure and virtue must be recognized first. When we consider Aristotle s
conception of happiness, it is important that we stress that it involves activity of soul
in accordance with virtue, since virtue, on its own, isn t enough to make a life good.
We can t act virtuously without being virtuous, but it is possible to be virtuous
without acting virtuously (Jackman 2017 ). As stated above, Aristotle considers
virtue to be associated with the soul rather the body. Furthermore, he explained this
in details when he talked about the vegetative soul, the appetitive soul and lastly the
reasoning soul. The vegetative soul according to him is not rational but a
characteristics of all living creatures. The appetitive soul is also irrational but can
reason in a way vegetative can t. The reasoning soul according to him is not shared
with other animals but are moral virtues like courage (Jackman 2017). As stated
above, reasoning (reasoning soul) is the only thing that distinguishes humans from
other animals. Therefore reasoning is the function of humans since it involves moral
virtues.
As was stated by Nozick, there are certain lives we would reject even if it involves
more pleasure. In relation to Nozick, Aristotle believes there are things we would

Throughout Oscar s time as a leader at Gospel Ministries Church, he has witnessed
the Sunday School program s attendance drop significantly due to there not being a
central line of communication between the information each class provides and the
members of the congregation. Whether if it be due to scheduling conflicts or
church emphasis, Oscar feels that once these two things are fixed, the attendance in
each class will increase from what it is now, but is not sure what steps to take to
make his vision a reality. Through the process of discussing solutions, looking at
who will be affected, and looking at the values of each route taken a resolution can

40. Should Students Have Phones In Middle School
I believe that students should not have phones in middle school. I believe this
because there are a lot of disadvantages of having a phone in middle school. Some
of the disadvantages are distractions, fear of losing the device and being less social.
First, I believe this because students can get easily distracted by phones. Students
don t pay much attention to the teacher s lesson and are disturbed by all the
notifications they receive. Some examples of how they can get distracted are social
media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat etc. Texting in class can also
get students easily distracted from school work. Students tend to lack amount of sleep
since they stay on their phone for most of the night. Secondly, since the phone

To be a great leader one must have many attributes or qualities. Some of the most
important are flexibility, communication, courage, humility, and responsibility. A
great leader must be flexible as being a leader usually consists of dealing with new
challenges all the time, especially in the technological age. Communication consists
of effectively conveying expectations and understanding how people will interpret
the leader s directions. A great leader must have the courage to see the path that the
group must take to complete the goal regardless of the consequences. When a great
leader does not correctly handle a situation he or she must have the humility to admit
that he or she was wrong. Also, this leader must be responsible for the... Show more

Part of the reason that the idea of great leaders being born is appealing is that a
great leader is so hard to define. It can be discussed what great leaders do and how
they act. Sometimes all we are good at though is identifying who a great leader is
outside of ourselves. It is difficult to answer the question Why aren t you a great
leader? . The initial reaction would most commonly be that you just aren t. It seems
that you weren t meant to be. With that the idea that great leaders are born to be that
way seems appealing. If we look at history many great leaders came seemingly out of
nowhere. George Washington and Abraham Lincoln did not need to attend leadership
seminars to lead the nation. With all that is done for leadership nowadays and the
mixed results, it seems that there is something intrinsic that great leaders have.
Many companies focus their efforts on trying to develop leaders from within the
company to fill critical roles. Many times though there is a leadership talent gap
from where the company would like the given leader to be and where he or she
actually is. A lot of what is attributed to a leader begin great is luck. To be truly great
the leader usually is presented with a monumental opportunity to lead in the face of
adversity. The leader is lucky to have come upon this situation and be given the
chance to rise to the occasion. By capitalizing on this lucky situation the
42. Language In Coates s Between The World And Me
No matter your race, reading and living within Between the World and Me is a
visceral experience. Coates intelligent employment of racially targeted inclusive
language, personal anecdotes about his life in Baltimore, and potent anaphora
emphasizes his reminder to not forget the historical struggle of protecting the black
body. Coates alludes; A mountain cannot be a mountain if there is nothing below
(105) and to him, the blacks are the below .
Coates employs inclusive language in the form of we the blacks. The essential idea
in this however, is the exclusion of whites. He says, Our moment is too brief. Our
bodies are too precious. And you are here now, and you must live and there is so
much out there to live for... (147) Through this significant assertion, Coates is not
endeavoring to be relatable to whites, he is attending to the unabridged African
American community, and most importantly, his son. The immediate effect of Coates
racially pointed inclusive language is not only to rally and encourage the African ...

This ingenious adhibition of anaphora emphasizes Coates message to not forget
the plunder of black bodies . The effect and importance of the repetition is to
underscore the immediacy and prominence of Coates advice. In addition, it also
displays how often these topics come up in Coates s life. He says, I recall learning
these laws clearer than I recall learning my colors and shapes, because these laws
were essential to the security of my body. (24) My body, your body, our body, it
doesn t matter. All reiterations get the point across.
Through these unambiguous rhetorical devices, Coates message is received loud and
clear: the plunder of African American bodies has and will continue to occur until
something radical is done about it. Just last week, three more backs dead in shootings

47. Persuasive Essay On Noise Pollution
are being presented with a sense of urgency, we need to be concerned about the
greenhouse gases fireworks produce, which include Carbon dioxide (CO2) and
ozone. In addition, Fireworks fallout can contaminate water supplies and residue on
the ground can be carried away by rain and end up in our lakes, rivers, or oceans.
Along with both these types of pollutions, Fireworks can be loud and the vibrations
can travel far which results in noise pollution. In the middle of the night fireworks
often disturb people trying to sleep. Fireworks can exceed 140 decibels and noise at
85 decibels or above can damage hearing. Some people also argue the noise from
fireworks scares pets and wildlife like birds, etc.
For the color effect of fireworks, toxic heavy metals like barium, aluminum, lead,
mercury salts, antimony, copper, and strontium can be used in firework compositions.
Outdated heavy metals that have been used in the past include rubidium and
cadmium. Some toxic elements are supposedly not used in fireworks anymore like
lead compounds, chlorates, and mercury as mercurous chloride (calomel), but some
firework chemical outlets still sell some of these ingredients.
Experimental Procedure
Many fireworks are imported from China which is scary because they have a
proven track record of cutting corners by using cheaper, more toxic materials. Some
of the metals also have radioactive isotopes. The American Fireworks Standards
Laboratory (AFSL) has established a testing and certification program for Chinese
and U.S. fireworks to determine if they are being produced according to AFSL
Standards, which means it meets all U.S. federal requirements. Along with the AFSL
testing s, there have been many case study that prove that fireworks can be extremely
harmful to the environment. The following table shows the toxic elements of
Fireworks and what it is used for. As it is examined, it is clear to see that all the
elements from the combustion reaction can be very harmful to the environment and
the living population in multiple different ways.

48. Character Of Grendel And Beowulf
Most readers find it hard to understand and sympathize with the antagonist of a
story. When most think of Grendel, they picture evil and mayhem. However, this is
because of the one sided portrayal provided by the novel Beowulf. By having
another piece of writing that identifies the other side to the character that was not
addressed, it allows the reader to see a different point of view and connect with the
overall story even more; this is especially important in significant parts of the story.
Both novels express distinct views on Grendel s character, most powerfully shown
during Grendel s attack and demise. One major scene, where the actions and motives
are portrayed differently, is the main fight between Beowulf and Grendel. Heaney...

Unlike in Beowulf, Grendel is not a simple minded creature who wrecks innocent
lives just for the sake of doing so. There is this inner struggle within him; Grendel
is a misfit and battles with his own identity and where he fits in the world. He
refuses to see his own value and instead wonders what life would be like if his role
in the world were different. After a discussion with someone of his kind, the
dragon, Grendel realizes he cannot change who he is, so he must embrace it
instead. The difference between the novels is not Grendel s actions, but instead
the omission of inner conflicts leading up to those actions. The other main scene
that brought out the changing description of Grendel was the time of Grendel s
death. In Beowulf, the event was more focused on the victory for Beowulf instead
of the death of Grendel. Beowulf was granted the glory of winning; Grendel was
driven under the fen banks, fatally hurt, to his desolate lair. His days were
numbered, the end of his life was coming over him, he knew it for certain; and one
bloody clash had fulfilled the dearest wishes of the Danes (Heaney 55). The death
of this monster was seen as a huge relief and victory for the Danes and started a
long period of celebration and praise for Beowulf. This achievement created a
reputation that would stay with Beowulf for the rest of his life. The entire war
proved to the people how strong Beowulf was and left Grendel to be remembered as
a barbaric monster who in the end
49. Marfan s Syndrome Essay
Marfan s syndrome is a rare hereditary disorder of the body s connective tissue. The
phenotypic traits include being tall, abnormally long stretched limbs and in the
most severe cases the aorta can be prone to rupture and retinal detachment can
occur [1]. Seventy five percent of cases for this multisystem disorder are genetic
and inherited in an autosomal dominant fashion (a child can inherit it from just one
parent): 25% are sporadic where neither parent has the syndrome [2]. Its prevalence
is 1/5000 and of these affected individuals each has a 50% chance of passing on the
mutated gene to their offspring [3]. Marfan s syndrome is caused by mutations in
the fibrillin 1 gene (FBN1) located on chromosome 15q21.1 [4]. Fibrillin is a large

Two thirds (approximately 66%) of Marfan s syndrome sufferers experience
problems in the cardiovascular system and have mitral valve prolapse; where blood
may flow back from the ventricles into the atrium in a process called mitral valve
regurgitation. This may require valve repair or valve replacement. If cardiac
arrhythmias occurs where the heartbeat becomes irregular there is the risk of sudden
death [2]. Thoracic aortic aneurysm is also prevalent in Marfan s syndrome sufferers.
This is a condition caused by the widening of the aorta due to weakness in the walls
of the vessel. Aneurysm can lead to rupture itself or to aortic dissection where the
aorta wall tears thus allowing blood to flow between the layers of the blood vessel
walls. It can result in rupture or in a decrease in blood flow to the organs. This
situation is very dangerous and is most likely to require heart surgery or aortic
replacement

51. Compare And Contrast Ancient Greek Culture
Cultures Contrasted Different cultures have their own ideas of how we as humans
came into being. Two of those cultures are the Greeks and the people in the ancient
near east. Their accounts of the creation of humans differ in some aspects, but are
similar in others. The Ancient Greeks had different myths to explain the creation of
mortal humans. However, in most of them, the creation of humans is an afterthought.
It is possible that some Greeks thought Zeuscreated humans, while others thought
Prometheus created them. Then there is the Five Ages of Hesiod which implies that
humans were in existence during the reign of Cronus, before his son Zeus overthrew
him. In the myth of the Sacrifice at Mecone, Prometheus tricked Zeus into choosing
the worst part of the sacrificial animal for the gods. Zeus, in Hesiod s Theogony,
planned in his vengeful spirit a terrible future for mortal men, one they could never
evade. Zeus then has Hephaestus fashion the first mortal woman and gives her,
Pandora, to Prometheus brother Epimetheus as a curse for humankind. The lack of a
central, widely accepted creation myth shows how unimportant the creation of
humans was to the Greeks. In the Enuma Elish, an ancient near eastern creation
myth, there were two gods, Marduk and Tiamat who fought for power. Marduk killed
Tiamat and used half her body to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
