A History Of Punk Research Paper
As is the Case with its metaphorical brother, heavy metal, punk is a genre of music that is thoroughly
entwined with philosophies. From Johnnies Ramone to Rotten, Spanning across oceans and
throughout various different nations, many disgruntled youth and those tired with an unfair system
have flocked to the then burgeoning culture, allowing for it to grow exponentially into something far
greater. Thus, due to it establishing a firmly anti establishment view, creating an entirely new culture
for an entire generation, and changing the face of music, punk has become one of, if not the most,
prolific genres of music of all time.
Punk has its origins as a form of underground of rock here in the states, while the term punk arose as

( Why A History Of Punk Rock Matters , 1) The ideologies and philosophies are, though quite similar,
are various. For instance, we have the aforementioned established anti establishment sentiment. (
Unpopular Culture , 1) Punk rock is also deeply rooted in nihilism and hedonism, both of which
pertain to the pursuit of self pleasure, though there is often a very communal sense to the culture. As
well, there was a very egalitarian basis for punk, the CBGB being an equal opportunity and very
liberal nightclub, allowing all comers to drink, and all bands to play, no matter who. ( Why A HIstory
Of Punk Rock Matters , 1)
Sadly, for a while in the punk history, punk was a tad homophobic and sexist, though this wasn t
extremely common, and is certainly being stopped by the community. But even the prejudice within
the culture could have helped fuel the creative abilities and frustrations of those prosecuted, giving
them new material to provide raw, angry punk rock, though discrimination is never good. The songs of
punk rock remain to never have a set subject matter, as the topics can range from sexual frustrations,
to race and gender issues, and even problems with our preordained status quo. ( Unpopular Culture ,

A Career as a Sheet Metal Worker
The career I am researching is a Sheet Metal Worker . I am researching this career because I would
someday want to go into the field of sheet metal working. I will want to do this because this career
leads to many different careers such as a field installer, a product manufacturer, and an architectural
designer. This field of work includes the opportunities to be a custom fabricator, grinder and finisher,
or a field installer. These are just some of the many opportunities available in this field of work. ( Your

Shopgirl Monologue
Mondays are her least favorite, they re usually slow days, slower, anyway, and sometimes just to pick
herself up, Veronica liked to stop someplace special on the way home. Take Neptune, California up on
what it had to offer her. Going the long way to her car, she stopped at a bakery, just a donut to go,
when she saw it across the street. Monstrous and offensive, a brand new superstore going up, one for
books and her chocolate donut with chocolate sprinkles tasted like sweetened ashes. Even now, years
after her dad s death, the first thought in her mind was how much he would hate it. Not even
necessarily the big business competition of it, just the disparaging of what was really left of Neptune s
small town USA charm. Finishing the rest of her donut in large bites, Veronica couldn t be bothered

Reflection On Ponics Lesson
Phonics Lesson Reflection
15 points
As a future teacher, you will be self reflecting on your teaching and the activity that you had the class
complete as part of the lessons. By reflecting on what you presented in class, you will learn how to
and what to modify in future lessons which will help you become a stronger teacher (Ed TPA). Please
answer the following prompts (honestly) with a minimum of 4 sentences for each section.
1. How do you think the lesson went?
I personally think that my lesson went pretty well. It seemed like many people were engaged and they
participated. There are things that I could have done to make the activity more challenging for the
consonant digraphs and consonant blends, but overall I think the activity was fun. I felt like the
students payed attention to when I was speaking at the beginning and the end of the activity, which
was ideal for any lesson.
2. What were the strengths about the presentation (lesson and/or teaching) and why?
The strengths of the lesson in my opinion was the fact that the students could play a game while also
participating with consonant blends and consonant digraphs. Even though throwing buttons into a cup
is fun and the lesson involved competition, it still made the students think about consonant digraphs
and consonant blends. I also think that it helped the students realize how many words are made with
consonant blends and consonant digraphs, which will help with their phonemic awareness.

##ciousness And Savagery In William Golding s Lord Of The...
Lord of the Flies Civilized thoughts and morals are the outcome of a highly complex neural circuit
producing chemicals such as serotonin located in the frontal lobe, temporal lobe, the parietal lobe and
the ventromedial prefrontal cortex of the brain (Morality Work in the Brain). The mix of adrenaline
and the inaccurate quantity of serotonin influences the respectable opinions of humans into vile
feelings and actions (The Moral Brain). In agonizing and traumatic situations, the behavioral ethics of
the person alter and savagery and barbarity occur. In most cases, humans changing their behavioral
viewpoint does not occur in modern day civilization. On the other hand, it does appear in detailed
novels. A prime example of this category is Lord of the Flies composed by William Golding. The
author explicitly describes the evolution of the characters decivilization using precise imagery. In
Chapter Eight of Golding s novel Lord of the Flies, the use of sensory imagery, diction, and dialogue
exemplifies the viciousness and savagery in the horrid scene. Initially in Chapter Eight, the boys
pursue a herd of pigs for nourishment on the island. The pigs are sensuously enjoying the shadows
under the trees. There was no wind and they were unsuspicious (Golding Chapter Eight). Based on
this phrase, the pigs in the novel symbolize the innocence that is embedded on the island because of
their benevolent manner. Be that as it may, Jack s obsession revolving around

Analysis Of An Eye Who Is The Whole World Go Blind
An eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind. Ghandi. The story of Dawn reinforces this well
known quote by demonstrating the heavy silence of murder and it s feeble justifications.
A few years after the Holocaust, one of it s victims, Elisha, is recruited from his home in Paris as a
terrorist in the city of Palestine. In his short time there, he has participated in violent group retaliation
against the British, yet has never been forced to kill individually until now. This story documents the
tale of a young boy s struggle to come to term with the human s ability to commit cruel acts, as well as
his struggle to justify the ultimate act of cruelty: murder. Within it s startling revelations of the human
conscience, Dawn illuminates that the comforts of revenge are only temporary; murder terminates all
answers.
With this, the author, Elie Wiesel, is able crumble the foundations of terrorisms and the reasoning that
hate can ever resolve hate in his first novel, called Dawn.
Dawn takes place in Palestine, a place where the Jewish community wakes up to a red, vengeful sky.
After surviving the Holocaust the main character, Elisha, has been recruited as a terrorist for the
Freedom Movement. For Elisha, who is now without a family, the Freedom Movement represents a
new dawn, an act of hope, and most importantly, a retaliation in the name of faith to secure what s
rightfully his peoples. However, daybreak presents Elisha with a more tortured reality; he has been

WHAT ROLE DOES RELIGION, MORALITY, AND WORLDVIEW PLAY IN THE CREATION
OF PUBLIC POLICY?
Public policy is a statement that defines the procedures of an institution for the achievement of
consistency in decision making. It is the result of a political process, which involves enacting laws and
regulations to enable the addressing of public concern in a constitutional manner. The efficiency of a
government is founded on the presence of proper and reliable policy making procedures. The process
of policy creation is thus the implementation of the constitution by the employment of certain causes

Indeed, the conviction of religion gives humans the ability to stand against anyone and anything thus
making religious groups a force to reckon. Religion is a symbol that acts to establish powerful,
pervasive, and long lasting moods and motivation in men formulating conceptions of a general order
of existence and clothing these conceptions with such an aura of factuality that they seem uniquely
realistic. Examples of this influence include the Islamic movement, the strong influence the Pope has
on the Catholic movement, and the impact the Pentecostal movement had on the US government. The
worldview contributes to the aspects of living, which include lifestyle, customs, thoughts,
philosophies, beliefs, and culture. These aspects seem to change with different generations causing
even greater conflict amongst interest groups in policymaking. Indeed, individuals in opposite factions
or groups may agree based on facts but sharply differ on conclusions simply because of their different
worldviews. A classic case of the worldviews influence is gay

We Both Reach For The Gun Analysis
In 1975, Chicago became a Broadway hit due to the work of Bob Fosse, John Kander and Fred Ebb.
Ebb created the lyrics and also worked with Fosse to write the book, while Kander created the music.
Chicago portrays a theme that celebrity statuses corrupt judicial system. The idea of celebrity
criminals appears throughout the musical as the girls fight for attention in press in order to help win
their trial. Mamma Morton clearly says (33 minutes into the movie) Murder is a form of entertainment
here and the musical proves that statement true. The most dominant example of celebrity criminals
gaining the favor of the public eye is when Roxie makes up her entire life story. Billy Flynn asks her
questions about her past, like where she was born or where her parents are, only to completely change
her answers. The song We Both Reached for the Gun showcases that Flynn acts more like a publicist
than a lawyer. Roxie s entire life was made up and told to the press so she could appeal innocent and
make the public take sympathy on her. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the start of the musical, all of the attention in the media is on Velma Kelly because she was a
celebrity before she was arrested. The attention then shifts to Roxie and leaves Velma feeling
neglected by the press and Flynn. Velma tries to convince Roxie they need to do a show together, with
the motive that maybe more attention will shift back to her. As soon as there is a new murder in the
city the attention of the media shifts, yet again, and this time away from Roxie and Velma. In pursuit
of attention, Roxie faints and then starts the rumor that she is pregnant in hopes the court could never
kill a pregnant woman. Mamma Morton understands the idea that fame benefits the girls on trial, so
she takes bribes in order to help them get publicity. As a jail supervisor, she is a representation of the
corruption that

Outside The Realm Of Philosophical, And Religious, Study
Outside the realm of philosophical, and religious, study the words substance, and matter, are
commonplace definer of a physical material out of which an object of permanence is made of. To the
philosophers of the early modern period not only are these terms dissimilar, but also represented
radically different ontological theories. The topic of substance is a pillar of philosophy an ontological
analysis. The term substance corresponds to the Greek ousia, which means being (Howard, 2013).
Substance, in the philosophical sense, became a generic term for anything thought to be the simplest
component that constructed reality. Alterations in how philosophers defined substance changed as
advancements in science and philosophy forced the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example would be someone s name. The name Gabe is capable of existing on its own, and while it
is likely this name is associated with another human it cannot be proven to be associated to any form
or object. Secondary substance would be predictive of form and function; so human would be a
secondary substance as a human has a definitive form (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy). This
dualist presentation of substance allows for a deductive ontological proof capable of predicting
primary substance. Aristotle believes, Whenever one thing is predicated of another as of a subject, all
things said of what is predicated will be said of the subject also. He continues by presented the
example that, man is predicated of the individual man, and animal of man; so animal will be
predicated of the individual man also for the individual man is both a man and an animal. (1b10,
Categories). This chain of predictability allowed Aristotle to prove whether something has being or
not. Interestingly, Aristotle leaves the binary substance classification for a more specific criterion to
understand what substance is.
Book Z of Metaphysics, addresses, The question which was raised long ago, [and] is still and always
will be, which always baffles us What is Being? is in other words What is Substance? (1028b3

Using Colorimetry To Determine The Concentration Of Copper...
Introduction: The goal of this lab was to use the technique of colorimetry to determine the
concentration of the Cupper (II) ion, Cu2+, in a sample of ore. Then a colorimeter or
spectrophotometer probe was used to determine the relationship between concentration and light
absorbance Using the known solutions of Cu2+concentrations. Points were then graphed which
allowed determination of the concentration of the solution with unknown Cu2+concentration from its
absorbance measurement. A standard curves shows the relationship between two variables. In this
investigation the two variables that were showing a relationship were absorbance and concentration.
Which are used in the beer lambert law. A=bC A standard curve was used to represent the relationship
between the absorbance and concentration from that equation. Ten different dilutions were formed.
From those dilutions the concentration and absorbance was determined. Then these values were
plotted. Absorbance was plotted on the y axis and concentration was plotted on the x axis. A straight
line was formed.

Becoming A Scholarly Writer
Prior to entering class, I deemed myself a competent writer. However, I quickly discovered that my
writing involved mediocre writing precepts. In contrast to the principles of scholarly discourse, my
writing held the tenets of conversational writing and failed to meet academic standards. Furthermore,
much of my poor writing was akin to a deep rooted habit that I found humbling to admit and
challenging to correct. Passive voice, unneeded words, long sentences, were a few of the obstacles that
impeded my journey to effective writing. However, using peer reviews and an editing checklist I
slowly began improving my skills as a competent writer. I also found that reading concerning writing
provided supplementary methods to improve my skills as a scholarly writer. Implementing these

The Destiny Of The Republic By Candice Millard
President James Garfield s tragic death is brought to new life in the book The Destiny of the Republic.
Author Candice Millard shows readers just how that very incident brought one nation together. This
being in the middle of the Gilded Age, at times it looked like the nation had everything under its belt
but in reality, people didn t see the corrupt happenings at that time. Through poverty, war, a surprising
turn in events, to downright failure in medicine, President Garfield s life was a downward spiral and
he wasn t even aware. As much as Garfield was unaware of that, Americans at the time were unaware
that they were slowly beginning to unite over the ignorance of both Doctor Bliss and Charles Guiteau.
Millard didn t just write a book of a detailed and historic biography, she wrote somewhat effortlessly
of the personal yet challenging circumstances Garfield and his family were in and simply told a story.
The author really goes in depth and is interested in Garfield s poverty stricken family as a young boy
because this is one of the many reasons America adored him so much. As he lost his father, worked
endlessly to be able to attend college, became a teacher after just one year, and then going onto
congress, he rose up to become the best president the nation has ever had in that short amount of time.
These details portrayed about his upbringing, show people how remarkably significant and
hardworking this man was. Millard shows that Garfield knew he was brought up to make

Upper Iowa University Suburban Regional Shopping Malls: Can the Magic Be Restored?
Imagine yourself as the manager of a struggling local suburban regional shopping mall. What do you
think the mall should do to improve its performance?
According to the textbook, the retail life cycle consists of the introduction, growth, maturity, and
decline. (Perreault, Jr., Cannon, McCarthy, 2011) To keep a local suburban regional shopping mall
from reaching its decline, one must spend time and money during the maturity phase to keep with

The last thing and possibly most important thing a manager should do is create a mall website that
lists all the stores, any possible coupons, discounts, or specials that may be happening, as well as links
to all the stores so a person can window shop before ever stepping foot into the mall. One could even
go as far as to offer discounts to those who shop online thru the mall website, therefore drawing traffic
to the website. Through the mall website, a consumer may find a link to another store that he/she has

regional shopping malls? Shopping trends over the next 10 years will include more technology with

Given that Graham dabs in so many other genres and has many other series under his belt, the

Pros And Cons Of Safe Injection Sites
John P. Walters, who is opposed to safe injection sites, wrote in a USA Today article:
There are no safe heroin injection sites. The only safe approach to heroin is to not take it. For addicts,
the humane public health response is to help them get and stay sober, or at the very least, opioid
replacement therapy in sustained treatment. Any approach without these goals is cruel and
dehumanizing not healing, but perpetuating harm. (Walter 2)
Walters believes that the heroin epidemic is a serious issue that must be addressed, but his solution is
different from safe injection sites. The problem with his claim is that it fails to address the
complexities of opioid addiction. If there are mass amounts of OD deaths, then the best way to get

A Modern Day Minstrel Show
It is clear that our country s criminal justice system is the new Jim Crow; with a huge majority of
felons being African American, it is obvious that people of color have it harder when it comes to crime
sentences. We must acknowledge that mass incarceration and the Jim Crow era are greatly similar.
Minstrel shows, which showed black men to be lazy, dumb, and clownish, once justified the
oppression of african americans. Many now believe that gangsta rap does just the same and is the
modern day minstrel show, by portraying blacks to be drug dealers, angry, and violent men. Though
many people believe that gangsta rap reinforces these stereotypes, it s important for one to realize that
this form of expression is not a modern day version of blackface performances.
Blackface performances were popular in American theaters for roughly 100 years, beginning around
the 1830 s. In 1950 s blackface minstrel shows, white and black performers were not able to share the
stage therefore they opted to paint their faces black with polish. These black characters were always
portrayed as either villains or comedic. Blackface had been used to make arguments for slavery and
why African Americans should not be given full human rights. These are narratives created by white
men that were made to oppress and dehumanize an entire race of people. The minstrel show clip titled

The science of genetics can be hard to understand. Genetics is the study of what it sounds like: genes.
Many people find great difficulty in distinguishing the variations of the terms trait, gene, genotype,
and phenotype. These disconcerting words will all be explained meticulously throughout this paper.
Examples from the author will be used to ensure comprehension. This essay will even go as deep as to
explain why organisms have genes and why the genes vary. There are many terms used by geneticists.
The most simple is the word trait. Traits are characteristics that come from one s genes; they can be
inherited, meaning that they come from an organism s parents. Genes are much like blueprints for
what an organism will be. Genes can be either dominant or recessive (dominant genes overpower
recessive ones). Genotypes are, put as intelligibly as possible, the type of gene that one has for each
trait that he or she owns. An allele is a trait that an organism gains from one parent. One gets two
alleles for each phenotype (a physical trait). An organism is either homozygous dominant for a
phenotype (it has two of the same dominant alleles), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A few examples of how they function inside of organisms are comprehensible, as well. For instance, T
stands for the phenotype tall. A lowercase t stands for the recessive allele of T. An organism that is
homozygous dominant for being tall would have the genotype TT. A female of this specimen comes
along. She is short with the homozygous recessive genotype of tt. Using a punnett square, a square
divided into four parts that can show what genotypes that a couple s children might have, it would be
easy to tell that the genotypes of four of their children could be: Tt, Tt, Tt, and tt. 75% of the children
would be heterozygous for being tall and the remainder would be homozygous recessive short. Genes
are quite easy to understand, if one can think outside of the punnett square (pun

Why Is Homework Important To Me
Though these times were considered the ugly years for a few, this was not so for me. The classes were
simple. The teachers were nice to communicate with. There was also plenty of time to spend with
family. In my middle school career, I worked, but there was plenty of time have a day of watching
television without falling behind or watering the garden for two hours because I didn t have any
homework.
In middle school, I rarely had homework to take home. There was Pre Algebra to do, but I could
accomplish that the first hour that I was home and have plenty of time to spare and do as I please. In
Mr. Deering s class, I loved many of the books we read and loved listening to him read the book to us.
He was incredible at storytelling, so everyone was quiet, or we watched tv shows or movies such as:
Courageous, National Treasure, or The Twilight Zone. I also had Mrs. Salter for English, I sat next to
her and listen to the commentary she would add to books such as: ... Show more content on

The other amount of time was spent outdoors doing work as well, but the other work was not hard
either. I loved ground spraying with a four wheeler for musk thistles and picking up rocks to create a
bridge into the creek. These times enabled opportunities to listen to music and sing along, however
loudly and off key I had wanted. I also loved watering the garden, due to it gave time to myself and
enjoy the beauty of nature. Other kids did not understand how this was fun, but I didn t care. I enjoyed
it and that s what was important. I also loved spending quality time with family. When it was dark, the
entire family would be inside watching a movie. It didn t matter if we had seen the movie a week
before, because we were together. We d eat popcorn and occasionally have pop if it was left in the
kitchen. These were the fun years with every all at the same school and all ride home together even
though it took forever before we d arrived

Evolution of Management Theory
CHAPTER ONE
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Managing is one of the most important human activities. From the time human beings began forming
social organizations to accomplish aims and objectives they could not accomplish as individuals,
managing has been essential to ensure the coordination of individual efforts. As society continuously
relied on group effort, and as many organized groups have become large, the task of managers has
been increasing in importance and complexity. Henceforth, managerial theory has become crucial in
the way managers manage complex organizations. It has to be unequivocally emphasized that

their organizations more efficiently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed, the purpose of an organizational structure is to help in creating an environment for human
performance. However, designing an organizational structure is not an easy managerial task because
many problems are encountered in making structures fit situations, including both defining the kind of
jobs that must be done and finding the people to do them.
Staffing involves filling, and keeping filled, the positions in the organization structure. This is done by
identifying work force requirements; inventorying the people available; and recruiting, selecting,
placing, promoting, appraising, planning the careers of, compensating, and training or otherwise
developing both candidates and current jobholders to accomplish their tasks effectively and efficiently.
Leading is the influencing of people so that they will contribute to organization and group goals; it has
to do predominantly with the interpersonal aspect of managing. Most important problems to managers
arise from people their desires and attitudes, their behavior as individuals and in groups. Hence,
effective managers need to be effective leaders. Leading involves motivation, leadership styles and
approaches and communication. Controlling, for example, budget for expense, is the measuring and
correcting of activities of subordinates to ensure that events conform to plans. It measures
performance against goals and plans, shows where negative deviations exist, and, by

Reflection Of Architecture Ethics
Throughout the course of this module I found myself to have grown tremendously in terms of my
understanding of architecture as a profession. I have been introduced to the main principle of
architectural practice in a broad sense along with its relationship to other related disciplines. I have
gained an introduction to professional responsibility and ethics through real life examples. I received
talks from architects, engineers, landscape architects, and planners. I have gained an introduction to
the vast world of reflective thinking. On one particular occasion we were offered a critical comparison
with medical ethics. Team discussions and critical thinking have been an essential element of my
studies. The seven lectures, talks and seminars, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Good Will In Kant s Simony Dilemma
The Simony Dilemma applies to anyone who obtained their position illegitimately by bribery, false
credentials, lying, inappropriate influence, etc. but does an outstanding job. An example would be if
someone was accepted to a prestigious university, but was not honest in their application. Of course
this person would be proud and honored to attend such a university, but they would know that they did
not truly deserve to be there, even if the excelled at the school. They would always have guilt that they
took someone else s spot who may have been more deserving. In this example of the Simony
Dilemma, Kant believes that a good will is an unqualified good, or a good without qualification.

Kant believes the moral quality of an act doesn t depend on consequences at all. In this way, kant
would say that it doesn t matter whether or not you take someone else s spot at a university, even if
they were more deserving. Kant claims we have moral obligations to ourselves and others. In his
argument, there are two kinds of obligations: perfect obligations and imperfect obligations. The
perfect obligation to ourselves is suicide as we use it to avoid pain. The perfect obligation to others is
promises as we use them to gain advantage. The imperfect obligation to ourselves is our talents as we
use our lives for mere enjoyment; we do not give ourselves full respect as moral and rational agent.
The imperfect obligation to others is charity as it does not give others full respect as moral and
rational agents. In

The Medical Ethics Team The Judges Of A Human s Life
Title: *Why is the medical ethics team the judges of a human s life?
*Are humans too dependent on the code of medical ethics?
Approach: An examination/analysis of the jurisdiction and justification of deciding what a human s
life is worth to the medical ethics board. / Hippocratic oath / what comprises the medical ethics board
Research question: What makes the decision of the medical ethics team better than the life of the
patient?
Introduction: The system of medical ethics has been a helpful component used in the medical field for
centuries. When they were first introduced, medical ethics were seen as guidelines for physicians to
follow while on duty with patients under oath. As time evolved, they became a system of moral
principles that guided physicians and patients through times of wonder and hardship. In today s
society where the medical field has transformed greatly, thanks to our modern technology, the concept
of medical ethics have not changed. Although our knowledge of medicine and technology has
expanded, diseases and disorders still plague the human race today. With these new technologies, we
are able to cure these new found germs, but these miraculous cures come with a price. Based on the
patient s health issue, decisions must be made and treatment must be given. Factors such as price for
equipment and care, space, and time are considered when treating a patient. These factors decide
whether treating the patient will be beneficial in the long run or a waste of

Phase Autobiography
What are those? I asked my mom, walking through Toys R Us and pointing at a large box.
Those are Legos, you can put them together and build things, she responded.
I stared at them, repeating the name in my head. Legos. It was a funny name. They looked like
colorful bricks with holes in them. Can we get them? I asked. Sure enough, we were carrying a box of
them to the checkout section.
Crazy as it seemed, the small blocks mesmerized me as a kid. The different colors, sizes, shapes, all
were astounding. Blue, yellow, green, red, all the colors I had heard of were there. The way they could
stack up together, how they could seemingly transform into anything I wanted, was amazing to me. I
would sit on a Lego board that we had bought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We walked through the building toys section and I saw an amazing, 2005 piece Mega Blox™ Space
Shuttle. It was by far the largest Lego set I saw in a box. It was supposed to stretch 3 feet long, and it
could open up and have a telescope come out of it. it even had sound effects with different sayings
like, we re ready for takeoff. I had learned all this just by reading off the box at the store, and I knew I
just had to have it.
Can I... Before I finished my sentence, my mom said, Can you finish it? That is what you should be
asking yourself. I don t want to buy you something that expensive unless I know you can finish it. Of
course I can, I m the best at Legos. I had no doubt of finishing it while we took it home. I got to work
right away, but I knew from the start that this was going to take much longer than any other Lego I
had done before. The pieces piled high and the instructions went on forever. It was the ultimate
challenge.
The ultimate challenge was a bit too challenging. I grew tired of building the shuttle, and soon gave up
on it. It was too long for me. This began the downfall of my addiction to Legos. Soon, I also began
getting tired of rebuilding the battleship over and over again, and the instructions for the rides of
Kaynex™ got lost when our basement flooded. Also, I wasn t allowed to get any new Lego sets until I
Finished the ones I had. I don t spend nearly as much time on Legos as I used to. Time that I used to

Totem Animal Research Paper
A totem is a spirit being, sacred object, or symbol of a tribe, clan, family or individual. Native
American tradition provides that each person is connected with nine different animals that will
accompany him or her through life, acting as guides. Different animal guides, also called spirit guides
and/or power animals, come in and out of our lives depending on the direction that we are headed and
the tasks that need to be completed along our journey. Native beliefs further explain that a totem
animal is one that is with you for life, both in the physical and spiritual world. Though people may
identify with different animal guides throughout their lifetimes, it is this one totem animal that acts as
the main guardian spirit. With this one animal, a connection is shared, either through interest in the

It s as if they ve always known, inexplicably drawn to the animal or having a special feeling for the

questions to ask yourself if you re wondering what your animal totem is: Have you ever felt drawn to
one animal or another without being able to explain why? This could be any type of living creature,
including birds and insects. Does a certain kind of animal consistently appear in your life? This doesn
t necessarily have to be a physical appearance, it could be represented in other ways, such as receiving
card and letters with the same animal pictured over and over, unexplainable dreams of a particular
animal, watching television and seeing the same animal featured time and time again, or, actually
having the animal show up. When you go to the zoo, a park, wildlife area, or forest, what are you most
interested in seeing? Are there any animals that you find to be extremely frightening or intriguing? Is
there a particular animal that you see frequently when you re out in

  • 2. A History Of Punk Research Paper As is the Case with its metaphorical brother, heavy metal, punk is a genre of music that is thoroughly entwined with philosophies. From Johnnies Ramone to Rotten, Spanning across oceans and throughout various different nations, many disgruntled youth and those tired with an unfair system have flocked to the then burgeoning culture, allowing for it to grow exponentially into something far greater. Thus, due to it establishing a firmly anti establishment view, creating an entirely new culture for an entire generation, and changing the face of music, punk has become one of, if not the most, prolific genres of music of all time. Punk has its origins as a form of underground of rock here in the states, while the term punk arose as an almost derogatory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ( Why A History Of Punk Rock Matters , 1) The ideologies and philosophies are, though quite similar, are various. For instance, we have the aforementioned established anti establishment sentiment. ( Unpopular Culture , 1) Punk rock is also deeply rooted in nihilism and hedonism, both of which pertain to the pursuit of self pleasure, though there is often a very communal sense to the culture. As well, there was a very egalitarian basis for punk, the CBGB being an equal opportunity and very liberal nightclub, allowing all comers to drink, and all bands to play, no matter who. ( Why A HIstory Of Punk Rock Matters , 1) Sadly, for a while in the punk history, punk was a tad homophobic and sexist, though this wasn t extremely common, and is certainly being stopped by the community. But even the prejudice within the culture could have helped fuel the creative abilities and frustrations of those prosecuted, giving them new material to provide raw, angry punk rock, though discrimination is never good. The songs of punk rock remain to never have a set subject matter, as the topics can range from sexual frustrations, to race and gender issues, and even problems with our preordained status quo. Take Neptune, California up on what it had to offer her. Going the long way to her car, she stopped at a bakery, just a donut to go, when she saw it across the street. Monstrous and offensive, a brand new superstore going up, one for books and her chocolate donut with chocolate sprinkles tasted like sweetened ashes. Even now, years after her dad s death, the first thought in her mind was how much he would hate it. Not even necessarily the big business competition of it, just the disparaging of what was really left of Neptune s small town USA charm. Finishing the rest of her donut in large bites, Veronica couldn t be bothered worrying about what she looked like grumbling to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Reflection On Ponics Lesson Phonics Lesson Reflection 15 points As a future teacher, you will be self reflecting on your teaching and the activity that you had the class complete as part of the lessons. By reflecting on what you presented in class, you will learn how to and what to modify in future lessons which will help you become a stronger teacher (Ed TPA). Please answer the following prompts (honestly) with a minimum of 4 sentences for each section. 1. How do you think the lesson went? I personally think that my lesson went pretty well. It seemed like many people were engaged and they participated. There are things that I could have done to make the activity more challenging for the consonant digraphs and consonant blends, but overall I think the activity was fun. I felt like the students payed attention to when I was speaking at the beginning and the end of the activity, which was ideal for any lesson. 2. What were the strengths about the presentation (lesson and/or teaching) and why? The strengths of the lesson in my opinion was the fact that the students could play a game while also participating with consonant blends and consonant digraphs. Even though throwing buttons into a cup is fun and the lesson involved competition, it still made the students think about consonant digraphs and consonant blends. I also think that it helped the students realize how many words are made with consonant blends and consonant digraphs, which will help with their phonemic awareness. ... • 6. ##ciousness And Savagery In William Golding s Lord Of The... Lord of the Flies Civilized thoughts and morals are the outcome of a highly complex neural circuit producing chemicals such as serotonin located in the frontal lobe, temporal lobe, the parietal lobe and the ventromedial prefrontal cortex of the brain (Morality Work in the Brain). The mix of adrenaline and the inaccurate quantity of serotonin influences the respectable opinions of humans into vile feelings and actions (The Moral Brain). In agonizing and traumatic situations, the behavioral ethics of the person alter and savagery and barbarity occur. In most cases, humans changing their behavioral viewpoint does not occur in modern day civilization. On the other hand, it does appear in detailed novels. A prime example of this category is Lord of the Flies composed by William Golding. The author explicitly describes the evolution of the characters decivilization using precise imagery. In Chapter Eight of Golding s novel Lord of the Flies, the use of sensory imagery, diction, and dialogue exemplifies the viciousness and savagery in the horrid scene. Initially in Chapter Eight, the boys pursue a herd of pigs for nourishment on the island. The pigs are sensuously enjoying the shadows under the trees. There was no wind and they were unsuspicious (Golding Chapter Eight). Based on this phrase, the pigs in the novel symbolize the innocence that is embedded on the island because of their benevolent manner. Be that as it may, Jack s obsession revolving around ... • 7. Analysis Of An Eye Who Is The Whole World Go Blind An eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind. Ghandi. The story of Dawn reinforces this well known quote by demonstrating the heavy silence of murder and it s feeble justifications. A few years after the Holocaust, one of it s victims, Elisha, is recruited from his home in Paris as a terrorist in the city of Palestine. In his short time there, he has participated in violent group retaliation against the British, yet has never been forced to kill individually until now. This story documents the tale of a young boy s struggle to come to term with the human s ability to commit cruel acts, as well as his struggle to justify the ultimate act of cruelty: murder. Within it s startling revelations of the human conscience, Dawn illuminates that the comforts of revenge are only temporary; murder terminates all answers. With this, the author, Elie Wiesel, is able crumble the foundations of terrorisms and the reasoning that hate can ever resolve hate in his first novel, called Dawn. Dawn takes place in Palestine, a place where the Jewish community wakes up to a red, vengeful sky. After surviving the Holocaust the main character, Elisha, has been recruited as a terrorist for the Freedom Movement. For Elisha, who is now without a family, the Freedom Movement represents a new dawn, an act of hope, and most importantly, a retaliation in the name of faith to secure what s rightfully his peoples. However, daybreak presents Elisha with a more tortured reality; he has been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Joseph Casale PPOL 501: Foundations of American Governance An Introduction to Public Policy February 11 2018 WHAT ROLE DOES RELIGION, MORALITY, AND WORLDVIEW PLAY IN THE CREATION OF PUBLIC POLICY? Public policy is a statement that defines the procedures of an institution for the achievement of consistency in decision making. It is the result of a political process, which involves enacting laws and regulations to enable the addressing of public concern in a constitutional manner. Indeed, the conviction of religion gives humans the ability to stand against anyone and anything thus making religious groups a force to reckon. Religion is a symbol that acts to establish powerful, pervasive, and long lasting moods and motivation in men formulating conceptions of a general order of existence and clothing these conceptions with such an aura of factuality that they seem uniquely realistic. Examples of this influence include the Islamic movement, the strong influence the Pope has on the Catholic movement, and the impact the Pentecostal movement had on the US government. The worldview contributes to the aspects of living, which include lifestyle, customs, thoughts, philosophies, beliefs, and culture. Ebb created the lyrics and also worked with Fosse to write the book, while Kander created the music. Chicago portrays a theme that celebrity statuses corrupt judicial system. The idea of celebrity criminals appears throughout the musical as the girls fight for attention in press in order to help win their trial. Mamma Morton clearly says (33 minutes into the movie) Murder is a form of entertainment here and the musical proves that statement true. The most dominant example of celebrity criminals gaining the favor of the public eye is when Roxie makes up her entire life story. Billy Flynn asks her questions about her past, like where she was born or where her parents are, only to completely change her answers. Outside The Realm Of Philosophical, And Religious, Study Outside the realm of philosophical, and religious, study the words substance, and matter, are commonplace definer of a physical material out of which an object of permanence is made of. To the philosophers of the early modern period not only are these terms dissimilar, but also represented radically different ontological theories. The topic of substance is a pillar of philosophy an ontological analysis. The term substance corresponds to the Greek ousia, which means being (Howard, 2013). Substance, in the philosophical sense, became a generic term for anything thought to be the simplest component that constructed reality. The name Gabe is capable of existing on its own, and while it is likely this name is associated with another human it cannot be proven to be associated to any form or object. Secondary substance would be predictive of form and function; so human would be a secondary substance as a human has a definitive form (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy). This dualist presentation of substance allows for a deductive ontological proof capable of predicting primary substance. Aristotle believes, Whenever one thing is predicated of another as of a subject, all things said of what is predicated will be said of the subject also. He continues by presented the example that, man is predicated of the individual man, and animal of man; so animal will be predicated of the individual man also for the individual man is both a man and an animal. (1b10, Categories). This chain of predictability allowed Aristotle to prove whether something has being or not. Interestingly, Aristotle leaves the binary substance classification for a more specific criterion to understand what substance is. Introduction: The goal of this lab was to use the technique of colorimetry to determine the concentration of the Cupper (II) ion, Cu2+, in a sample of ore. Then a colorimeter or spectrophotometer probe was used to determine the relationship between concentration and light absorbance Using the known solutions of Cu2+concentrations. Points were then graphed which allowed determination of the concentration of the solution with unknown Cu2+concentration from its absorbance measurement. A standard curves shows the relationship between two variables. In this investigation the two variables that were showing a relationship were absorbance and concentration. Which are used in the beer lambert law. A=bC A standard curve was used to represent the relationship between the absorbance and concentration from that equation. Ten different dilutions were formed. From those dilutions the concentration and absorbance was determined. Then these values were plotted. Absorbance was plotted on the y axis and concentration was plotted on the x axis. As Silva wrote, Productive writers don t have special gifts or special traits they just spend more time writing and use this time more efficiently (Keyes, 2003). Changing your behavior won t necessarily make writing fun, but it will make writing easier and less oppressive (Silva, 2014, p. 05). • 17. The Destiny Of The Republic By Candice Millard President James Garfield s tragic death is brought to new life in the book The Destiny of the Republic. Author Candice Millard shows readers just how that very incident brought one nation together. This being in the middle of the Gilded Age, at times it looked like the nation had everything under its belt but in reality, people didn t see the corrupt happenings at that time. Through poverty, war, a surprising turn in events, to downright failure in medicine, President Garfield s life was a downward spiral and he wasn t even aware. As much as Garfield was unaware of that, Americans at the time were unaware that they were slowly beginning to unite over the ignorance of both Doctor Bliss and Charles Guiteau. Millard didn t just write a book of a detailed and historic biography, she wrote somewhat effortlessly of the personal yet challenging circumstances Garfield and his family were in and simply told a story. The author really goes in depth and is interested in Garfield s poverty stricken family as a young boy because this is one of the many reasons America adored him so much. As he lost his father, worked endlessly to be able to attend college, became a teacher after just one year, and then going onto congress, he rose up to become the best president the nation has ever had in that short amount of time. These details portrayed about his upbringing, show people how remarkably significant and hardworking this man was. Millard shows that Garfield knew he was brought up to make ... Any approach without these goals is cruel and dehumanizing not healing, but perpetuating harm. A Modern Day Minstrel Show It is clear that our country s criminal justice system is the new Jim Crow; with a huge majority of felons being African American, it is obvious that people of color have it harder when it comes to crime sentences. We must acknowledge that mass incarceration and the Jim Crow era are greatly similar. Minstrel shows, which showed black men to be lazy, dumb, and clownish, once justified the oppression of african americans. Many now believe that gangsta rap does just the same and is the modern day minstrel show, by portraying blacks to be drug dealers, angry, and violent men. Though many people believe that gangsta rap reinforces these stereotypes, it s important for one to realize that this form of expression is not a modern day version of blackface performances. Blackface performances were popular in American theaters for roughly 100 years, beginning around the 1830 s. In 1950 s blackface minstrel shows, white and black performers were not able to share the stage therefore they opted to paint their faces black with polish. These black characters were always portrayed as either villains or comedic. Blackface had been used to make arguments for slavery and why African Americans should not be given full human rights. These are narratives created by white men that were made to oppress and dehumanize an entire race of people. • 23. Explain Why Organisms Have Genes The science of genetics can be hard to understand. Genetics is the study of what it sounds like: genes. Many people find great difficulty in distinguishing the variations of the terms trait, gene, genotype, and phenotype. These disconcerting words will all be explained meticulously throughout this paper. Examples from the author will be used to ensure comprehension. This essay will even go as deep as to explain why organisms have genes and why the genes vary. There are many terms used by geneticists. The most simple is the word trait. Traits are characteristics that come from one s genes; they can be inherited, meaning that they come from an organism s parents. Genes are much like blueprints for what an organism will be. Genes can be either dominant or recessive (dominant genes overpower recessive ones). Genotypes are, put as intelligibly as possible, the type of gene that one has for each trait that he or she owns. An allele is a trait that an organism gains from one parent. One gets two alleles for each phenotype (a physical trait). A few examples of how they function inside of organisms are comprehensible, as well. For instance, T stands for the phenotype tall. A lowercase t stands for the recessive allele of T. An organism that is homozygous dominant for being tall would have the genotype TT. A female of this specimen comes along. She is short with the homozygous recessive genotype of tt. Using a punnett square, a square divided into four parts that can show what genotypes that a couple s children might have, it would be easy to tell that the genotypes of four of their children could be: Tt, Tt, Tt, and tt. 75% of the children would be heterozygous for being tall and the remainder would be homozygous recessive short.
