The Four Phases Of Photogrammetry
The development of photogrammetry clearly depends on the general development of science and
technology. It is interesting to note that the four major phases of photogrammetry are directly
related to the technological inventions of photography, airplanes, computers and electronics. Figure
below depicts the four generations of photogrammetry. Photogrammetry had its beginning with the
invention of photography by Daguerre and Niepce in 1839.The first generation, from the middle to
the end of last century, was very much a pioneering and experimental phase with remarkable
achievements in terrestrial and balloon photogrammetry. The second generation, usually referred to
as analog photogrammetry, is characterized by the invention of stereo photogrammetry... Show

It has a simple principle but still has a huge influence on current architectural works. The simple
procedure is that it takes input from photography which is a 2D representation of 3D objects and
then photogrammetry system does the 3D computation of the object and surface from a
photograph. Based on location of camera, photogrammetry can be of two types:
i.Aerial Photogrammetry
The camera is placed in an aircraft in Aerial Photogrammetry and it is vertically pointed with
respect to ground. Several overlapping photos are taken as aircraft flies of the area which had to
be studied. Remotely taken photos are than processed in stereo plotter which is an instrument that
allows seeing two photos at once to an operator in a stereo view. For creation of Digital Elevation

used to produce large scale topographical or thematical maps and Digital Terrain Models (DTM),

The Bahamas
Illegal activities have permeated the Bahamas as far back as the time of Edward Blackbeard
Teach; during the late 1600 s to the early 1700 s when pirates plundered British ships and
occupied the islands of the Bahamas. But no illegal activity would prove to be as invasive as the
drug trade of the 1980 s, which is embedded in the culture of drug use and drug smuggling of
those 700 islands and cays. In the early 80 s I was oblivious to the fact that there was a major
drug trade raging in our islands. At that time I was dating a young man whose family played a
major role in drug distribution, mainly cocaine and during that same period I spent weeks with
a family who supplied cracked as well as cocaine to the general public. I had no idea that these
people were involved in drug trafficking. On one occasion I travelled to South Beach, Florida,
with this young man for a vacation. However, as I got older I realized this was a part of a much
larger arrangement than a vacation. The Bahamas was a haven for drug smugglers, and drug
lords, like Medellin cartel kingpin Carlos Lehder and his associates. They used Normans Cay
Exuma, as it s hub for drug trafficking. In due course Carlos Lehder agitated the local residents of
the island, that they along with any visitors fled Normans Cay. The former... Show more content on

Festival Republic and Glastonbury Festival
Glastonbury from hippy weekend to international festival
Steve Henderson, Leeds Metropolitan University
Glastonbury Festival has beconne a worldwide attraction for music fans and artists alike. In
2009, Bruce Springsteen was added to the long list of acts (from Paul McCartney to Oasis) that
have appeared at the festival. It started in 1970 when 1,500 hippy revellers gathered on a farm
near Glastonbury Tor to be plied with free milk and entertainment from a makeshift stage. Now,
Glastonbury is a major international festival that attracts over 150,000 attenders. Without any
knowledge of the lineup, the tickets for the 2010 Festival sold out in days. In those early days, the
Festival was developed by local farmer, Michael Eavis, whose ... Show more content on

In a worrying move, Live Nation announced that they would entice a number of major artists to
appear on the weekend normally used by Glastonbury at a new UK festival called Wireless. Based
in London, this seemed set to offer a city based alternative to Glastonbury. At much the same time,
Live Nation announced that they would launch their own online ticket agency to support the sales
of their music events. This shift in power between the major music promoters indicated not only
their interest in the ownership of key events but their desire to control income streams. Elsewhere
in the world of live entertainment, the success of Glastonbury had not gone unnoticed and the
festival market showed considerable growth. Some of the other festivals tried to capitalise on
features that Glastonbury could not offer. For example, Glastonbury was famous for its wet
weather with pictures of damp revellers and collapsed tents being commonplace. Live Nation s city
based Wireless festival offered the opportunity to sleep under a roof at home or hotel, as opposed to
risking the weather outdoors. Alternatively, Benicassim in southern Spain offered a festival with an
excellent chance of sunshine and top acts for the price of a low cost airline ticket. Other festivals
noted that Glastonbury attenders enjoyed the wider entertainment at the event. In doing this, they
realised that many festival goers were attracted by the whole social experience. So, sidestepping

Advantages Of Islamic Banking
1.0Overview
Islamic banking refers to a system of banking that complies with Islamic law, also known as
Shariah law. The underlying principles that govern Islamic banking are mutual risk and profit
sharing between the provider of capital (investor) and the user of funds (entrepreneur). In other
words, it ensures an equal contribution for all parties involved, whether in profitability or in case of
any loss occurred. Activities that involve interest (riba), gambling (maisir) and speculative trading
(gharar) are prohibited (Bank Negara Malaysia, 2010). Islamic banking is interest free banking;
making it compulsory to take active part in business profit and loss sharing. Islamic banks prefer
to take less risk (Shaikh Jalbani, 2009)

In this system, conventional banks make profit through the different rates of interest by borrowing
and lending of money. However, one of the drawbacks of conventional banking is that it is
prohibited from trading in the shareholding of the borrowing concern. (Shahid H. , et al., 2010).
The performance of all the banks in the country may not necessarily be on the positive side
especially since the recent financial crisis of 2007. Banks have managed to pull through but not
without some being injured in terms of stock prices or profits. In 2002, the Malaysian government
started the implementation of the banking sector reformation in respond to the 1997 financial
crisis. Under the reform plan, Malaysian government guided the merger activities in the banking
sector through the central bank. Prior to that date, the banking sector was made up of 54 domestic
deposit taking institutions which became ten large capitalized banks by the end of 2002. (Ahmad,

A Brief Note On The Physician Assisted Suicide
Paper Two Physician Assisted Suicide
Throughout many years, Individuals have struggled with the thoughts of physically harming
themselves, which usually leads to suicide. Depression and anxiety are a disease that takes over
human beings self determination. Many young individuals reach the point of believing, if they
were no longer alive the world they are associated with will no longer be dark and evil. Also, older
individuals believe if they take their own life, then they will not suffer anymore. Recently in some
states, they passed the right to have physician s helping with planning their client s death. Physician

According to scripture, What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost
[which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own (1 Corinthians 6:19 20, King
James Version). Does this scripture really mean not to physically kill yourself, or does this
scripture mean not to use your body as a canvas for tattoos or piercings because your body
should represent the life God has provided for you when cleansed by his salvation. In every
individuals daily life we are taught that all sin is equal, so how can one differ on judgment day
when standing in front of the Lord. Unfortunately, the Ten Commandments explain, Thou Shalt
Not Kill. Does that mean you shall not kill another individual, does that mean you shall not kill
yourself, or does that mean you shall not kill anyone? No one knows the exact meaning of this
verse except the followers of Jesus and Jesus himself. So, I am not saying that the bible does not
tell us we shall not kill ourselves, I am saying how do we know that this is true without asking
Jesus himself, and why not let an individual enjoy their last few moments with their family
knowing the day they must pass away. However, An individual with a short time to live has the
physical and mental right to decide, which path they are going to take: planning their own death or
unknowingly waiting their time to die. Having this ability to decide when their own life will come
to an end, will give that

Hamlet is saying that the whole of Denmark is corrupt and bad and that if these weeds are not dug
up they will go to seed and spread more corruption around Denmark. Throughout the play
Shakespeare has a gardening theme written into it this reinforces the idea that Denmark is an
unweeded garden.

Hamlet really loves his father he is his idol and hero and Shakespeare shows this in this part of
the soliloquy. He compares his father to Hyperion the Titan, the son of Gaea and Uranus and the
father of Helios of Greek mythology. He also says that his father a hyperion compared to satyr so
he is even better than a satyr.

The Air Force Change Management
The Air Force is a component of the United States Department of Defense with numerous
responsibilities and combat capabilities. The broad scope of its military responsibilities has
necessitated a moderately flexible organizational structure, and a wide range of educational and
technical specialties. Obtaining the talent required to fill highly technical job openings has forced
the military to recruit civilian workers, resulting in a highly diverse work force. Although diversity
and flexibility provide the Air Force with significant advantages, these attributes also cause several
problems when leaders attempt to implement change. Researchers from RAND Corporation suggest

The department s leadership is responsible for providing appropriate manpower and resources to
each mission using an increasingly tight budget, while also following strict laws for high priority
missions, such as nuclear defense, which mandate both high levels of training and manpower (Air
Education Training Command, 2015). Additionally, warfare technology has become incredibly
advanced. Due to this complication, the educational and technical requirements for military service
members and employees are steadily increasing. education and contract diversity. Because of the
wide gap in educational requirements between each purpose the military fulfills, mission
completion has necessitated the recruiting of both active duty military members, and specialized
civilian employees and contractors. The increasing advanced requirements for cyberspace defense
and weapon research cannot be adequately met through an organizational model dependant on the
recruiting of enlisted members, who usually have an educational level no higher than high school,
and officer members, who often have not obtained an educational level higher than a baccalaureate
prior to service entry. The Air force needs traditional military members to maintain proficiency and
command during standard warfare operations. It needs highly technical positions, which the
government can only hope to effectively obtain from civilians, who naturally expect better pay and

Grendel s Mother Or Monster In Beowulf
Grendel is one of the three main antagonists or monsters in the Anglo Saxon s, Beowulf. In the epic
poem, there is not too much about his father, just his mother. In the book, it was a mysterious troll.
And in the animated movie, it was King Hrothgar. Hrothgar is the king of the kingdom that Grendel
was destroying and the one that asked Beowulfto kill Grendel. I do feel sorry for Grendel because,
he s a creature being treated like a monster. The humans didn t even try to understand why he might
be massacring them. For all they know, he might be protecting the forest from their wars,
destruction, and lack of respect for the land. But his mother is no better than the Anglo Saxons. She

Essay On Whitetail Deer
Just a typical evening driving home from work, tired from such a long day. Lis tening to the music

close to dark.
That deer that you just about hit has a name. For the United States there are two main deer we

So to put that into perspective from Kansas, down to Mexico, and from Kansas up into Canada,
and all the way to the water on the East Coast. Typically Whitetail Deer in the Midwest will eat
on green sprouting plants in the summer when its hot. Such as turnips, clover, alfalfa and even
beans and corn before it starts to change in color and start to harden. In the winter time, the
Whitetail Deer will move more to cover to keep out of the harsh elements. They revert to acorns
falling from the trees and also corn and beans before its about to be harvested. Also having food
plots planted for them with greens on it for the late season will also keep the deer on your place.
If you leave food on your land and the deer know about it they will be there until you run out.
Whitetail deer typically get the biggest out of the four different types of deer. Many Whitetails
go beyond the 300 pound mark. Antler size ranges on the Whitetail the farther east u go towards
the water. This is because there is less crops for them to eat such as were Kansas, Iowa, and Illinois
produce some of the most crops in the United States on yearly basis were North Carolina hardly
produces any crops. Typically more food the state has for deer, the bigger the deer will get in body

Descriptive Essay On The Day In Nursing
It was an unpleasantly early morning in the hospital waiting room. Nurses buzzed around, busy
attending to their patients while a faint beeping sound could be heard in the background. I was
starting my second shift of the day at the hospital, just finishing working a shift in the dark,
grimy morgue. Groggy, I sat down at my desk to begin another four hours of labor. My position
was to assure that the paper work was properly completed and that all patients were attended too.
While being a supervising nurse was a great responsibility, it left time to day dream. In the
corner of the room, an old lady was slouched on a cracked, olive upholstered chair. A man
gripped her veiny hand and softly patted her back. She appeared to suffer from a vigorous
cough, which originated deep in her chest. Delicate curls framed her fragile face as hair was
neatly swept to one side. A double string of ivory pearls swooped around her neck, landing in the
lull of her collarbone. Vintage black eyeglasses were diligently balancing on the bridge of her
crinkly nose. The wrinkles that adorned her face were indicative of many years lived and with
each cough, they furrowed. She wore a knitted rose cardigan over what appeared to be a light blue
night gown. It was evident that she had been rushed to the hospital as she was still wearing her
fucia puffy slippers. Every few seconds her diaphragm clenched, causing her stomach to thrust out
and created a high pitched wheeze. The cool exterior air rushed in

Essay about Wal-Mart
The founder of the Wal Mart chain, Sam Walton was born in March 1918 in the town of
Kingfisher, Oklahoma. Graduating from the University of Missouri, Sam enlisted in the Army
for the World War II effort. Upon his return, Sam worked for a while at the J.C. Penney group of
stores. He began to realize that opportunities existed in the large scale discount retailing business
(nickel and dime stores). The idea and business philosophy of Wal Mart borrowed from the nickel
and dime stores of earlier times, and consisted of getting National Brands in bulk at a discount
based on volume purchases; the company would then stamp its mark and resell the goods at a
slight markup, this rate being however less than the other competing Mom and Pop stores... Show

Yet in the sphere of business, he was a radical trend setter. Choosing to be innovative and
aggressive, the founder of Wal Mart took the large scale discount retailing business to new heights
and down new avenues. Sam borrowed a lot of ideas for his early stores from Kmart and others. But
it was what he chose to do differently В– the ways he put his own stamp on the basic business
model В– that made Wal Mart so fabulously successful. His model was the same as Kmart s, but
his strategy was unique. From the very beginning, Walton chose to serve a different group of
customers. At that time, the 10 largest discounters (in 1962) focused on large metropolitan areas
and cities like New York. Wal Mart s key strategy was to put good size stores into little one horse
towns which everybody else was ignoring. He sought out isolated rural towns with populations
between 5,000 25,000, and correctly bet that if his stores could match or beat the city prices,
people would shop at home. Since Wal Mart s markets tended to be too small to support more
than one large retailer, eventually the small local competitors went out of business, making the
whole area Wal Mart territory. Wal Mart also took a different approach to merchandising and
pricing than its competitors. While competitors relied heavily on private label goods, second tier
brands and price promotions, Wal Mart promised National Brands at everyday low prices. The
company pursued efficiency and

Long Term Care Insurance Research Paper
If you are unfamiliar with long term care insurance, now is a good time to discover some of the
benefits. Long term care insurance can help cover the cost of a nursing home, an assisted living

some long term care expenses, but it does not cover all of them and will only provide benefits if
your net worth is low enough to qualify. Long term care insurancecan be quite costly however and

The taxes collected would help pay for the overhaul of the health care system. The labor unions
are in opposition to this tax because they believe that the cost will be passed on to the workers. As
a public school administrator and working with labor unions, I think that taxing high cost insurance
plans is a reasonable and responsible step in the process of creating a health care system that
supports all Americans. Health insurance is one of the most expensive expenses faced by a public
school system. Each year the rates increase and it is impossible to predict how much heath
insurance costs will go up annually. When negotiating teachers contracts health insurance
becomes a pivotal issue. Common ground is difficult to find because unions do not want to give
up the high cost insurance plans and employers struggle to move toward either a less costly plan
or an increase in the co pay and share that teachers will have to pay. Premiums are based in part on
the amount of claims that your organization has over a given period of time. With the population
getting older public school systems are seeing more claims which translates into increased
premiums. I am in full support of taxing high cost insurance plans. Employers are more than willing
to offer insurance plans that cost less and offer good care. While negotiating with unions, employer s

Markets: What Have We Learned? Abstract This paper summarizes the theoretical and empirical
research on how the introduction of derivative securities affects the underlying market. A wide

Turning to the introduction of option contracts, the non linear payoff structure of options adds
an interesting dimension to the problem, that has inspired much insightful theoretical research.
Still, no real consensus has emerged as to whether we should expect options to stabilize or
destabilize the underlying market. As in the case for the introduction of futures, the range of
theoretical possibilities is sufficiently broad as to accommodate nearly any conclusion, depending
on what assumptions are made. Nevertheless, it can be quite instructive to examine this literature
carefully, for in doing so we may gain valuable insights to help us gain a richer appreciation of the
complicated relationships between derivative and primary assets. The empirical literature on this
issue is vast. Studies have been performed on data from commodity, п¬Ѓxed income, individual

Uae Society Culture
UAE Society amp; Culture The United Arab Emirates is home to a rich cultural heritage that has
been strongly influenced by its unique environment. The region s varied terrain, desert, oasis,
mountains and coast, dictated the traditional lifestyles that evolved over the centuries. A resilience
and resourcefulness necessary to survive in these harsh conditions was fostered by society s age
old tribal structure: each family was traditionally bound by obligations of mutual assistance to his
immediate relatives and to the tribe as a whole. Among the tribe an individual s selfless hospitality
was the source of his honour and pride. A common religion, Islam, also provided the cement that
held society together. The UAE s rich history is rooted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The UAE has undergone an extraordinary metamorphosis in the few short years since the state was
established. Today Emiratis of all ages have access to all the benefits of a modern, developed
society. But there is also an awareness that the history, culture, values and traditions of past
generations are the foundations on which the modern state is built. Both government and people
are determined that their heritage will be preserved, in line with the late Sheikh Zayed s belief that
a people that knows not its past can have neither a present nor a future . Local museums and
traditional heritage centres throughout the emirates help to introduce this heritage to younger
generations and to visitors to the country. At the same time, the UAE, capitalising on its strategic
geographical position between East and West and its open, tolerant perspective, is establishing a
wide range of new museums and creative centres, many of which are universal in nature. In addition
to encouraging creativity in the community, these new museums help to bridge cultures and
advance dialogue between civilisations. The UAE s history stretches back tens of thousands of
years, with cultural objects and art that start with tools from the Early Stone Age. Calligraphy is a
traditional art, transforming Arabic words into works of art. Today, artists explore what the modern
UAE means to them. Other aspects of the UAE s heritage and culture can be experienced in

Beach Burial Poem Analysis
Throughout history, poetry was often used in conflict with glorified or ambiguous images of war
being presented to the people at home, revealing the truth and brutality of war. Bruce Dawe,
Kenneth Slessor, Carol Ann Duffy and Wilfred Owen are well known anti war poets who express
their concerns ad objections of warthrough poetry. Dawe s Homecoming and Slessor s Beach Burial
explore the vastness of war and the futile magnitude of soldiers who had fallen in battle, never to
return home. Contrastingly, Duffy s War Photographer and Owen s Arms and the Boy comment on
the disability of psychologically returning home, exploring the corruption of innocence and youth,
with those involved in war never to return home as the same person.

Duffy uses four regular, six line stanzas to impose order amongst the agonies in black and white,
the photographer has to not only develop as a part of his job, but to psychologically grapple with

this structural order emulates the removal of freedom that comes with youth, expressing the
corruption of the soldiers ability to return to their innocence. Duffy ends each stanza in a rhyming
couplet to strengthen the routine placed amidst the chaos of war and drive home her point of the
psychological aftermath of war on everyone involved. Contrastingly, Owen utilises pararhymes
flash / flesh , teeth / death to denote the inaptness of young boys being armed with weapons, forced
to soon mature to escape their foreseeable death, never to return as innocent youths. Duffy s use of
sibilance spools of suffering causes the reader to hiss words, emphasising the prevalent callousness
of war. Similarly, Owen has incorporated sibilance Sharp with the sharpness to augment the
malevolency associated with weaponry, disengaging young soldiers from their innocence, never to

Dr. Demming s Great Advice
Dr. Demming s Great Advice
1. Describe the essential aspects of a self directed, intrinsically motivated, active learner?
A student who is a self directed, intrinsically motivated, active learner will own their goals, setting
their goals based on their specific needs, wants, and abilities. They will watch to ensure that their
goals are being met. The methods used by the active learner to achieve his/her goals will change
depending on the opportunities and challenges encountered over time, but the core goals should
stay the same. Otherwise, the active learner will be overcome by distractions and disillusionment.
Dr. W. Edwards Demingis a man that I admire. He was the chief statistician for the United Stated
during World War II. After the war, he was sent to Japan to assist with the process of rebuilding
the nation s industries. He believed that the Japanese could go from being the worst in the world
to being the best by utilizing statistical methods. He believed that the Japanese could take over a
world market in five years if they followed his advice (Asq.org, 2015). Demming stated I was the
only man in Japan who believed that Japanese industry could do that. and They beat my prediction.
I had said it would need five years. It took four. (Asq.org, 2015). Later, the Toyota Corporation
based their quality systems on Dr. Demming s teachings.

Pinocchio, A Classic Film Directed By Norman Ferguson
Human Nature, a state of dangerous and unpredictable practicality that intertwines within
difficulties of our lives. Humans make mistakes not because we are programmed to do so, but
because we have an analytical mindset to choose what best suits our self interest . If you would ask
me, Human nature is probably one of the most terrifying things of this Earth. Nevertheless, you can
t stand but to love humanism and the persona of one s being. Pinocchio, a classic film directed by
Norman Ferguson, reminds us how it is to be vulnerable, fragile, and human. Through the linear
progression of choice and opposition, Pinocchio s wooden heart has to learn the acrimonious trial of
human temptation and deviance in order to become a real boy. Thus creating the theme, you must
go through trial, turbulation and experiences in order to truly appreciate humanity and others.
In the beginning, just as many films begin, we open the story. This simple action helps the
audience literally envision the beginning, the opening, the first page of a story. This makes the
film more personable, as if we were reading the book with a family member before going to bed.
In the timeline, we would call this the exposition in which happiness and no opposing forces have
occurred yet. Pinocchio is still a wooden puppet and we are introduced to the characters of the film.
What I find is interesting is that Even from the beginning, Pinocchio was the closest to human out
of all the toys and wooden clocks in the

Different Aspects That Go Into Making A Business...
There are many different aspects that go into making a business successful. Businesses need a
strong vision, great leaders within the organization, strong sales, a successful sales team, a steady
stream of revenue as well as a way to produce the revenue or sales coming in. Two important
aspects of business that are not always brought up, is profit and the costto operate the organization.
Often times managers only look at the net profit or net revenue on their Profit and Loss statements
without breaking down the numbers or cost of doing business. Even if an organization is successful
and has a great profit margin at the end of the month, quarter or year, does not mean they do not
need to analyze the cost of the operations. Analyzing those costscannot only help an organization
become profitable, when they are unprofitable, but can make them more profitable even if they
show a healthy profit. Finding ways to cut cost or become more efficient with the operations can
lead an organization in the right direction when it comes to their finances (Ahmed, S., 2016).
When small businesses are involved they need to pay close attention to their cost and controlling
their cost. Profit planning is one way to manage cost and use the budget to create ways for the
managers to recognize how to work cheaper and more efficiently. One small miss step with over
purchasing or overages on production time or inventory can cost a small business money, when this
happens it can directly affect their

The Use Of Language In Animal Farm, By George Orwell
Throughout many generations, there have been great leaders and infamous leaders that use
language to further their cause. Language is very powerful and the ones who are talented hold
deep responsibility. This power can be extremely positive or extremely detrimental to a society as
whole. Dialect between one another can help others unite, while having the hazard of manipulation,
or even brainwashing. A legendary example of the use of language is Animal Farm, the novel
written by George Orwell.
The objective in using language is to bring people together. In Animal Farm, the pigs brought the
animals together to rebel against Jones. In Chapter One, Old Major and the pigs show leadership
and bring forth ideas to overthrow Jones. This is an example of others coming together for a
common good through language. In the middle of this historic novel, the animals finally gain
control of the farm. In chapter three, the pigs had to use language to encourage the other animals to
farm for their peers. Once Animal Farm practically became an empire, the citizens of the farm
started their first huge project: building a windmill. This is another example of how the guidance of
good language can help communities accomplish massive goals.
While language can help a society, it can also be a means for leaders to manipulate their own
people. In Chapter Three of Animal Farm, it becomes apparent that the pigs have advantages over
the other animals. The pigs give clever reasoning to why they

How Does Shakespeare Use Imagery In Macbeth
Macbeth is a play, which is concerned with supernatural forces, ambition, masculinity and strength.
It is the tale of a good man turned evil due to ambition and the consequences, which eventually lead
to his dramatic downfall. These challenged the values of the society of this period and provoked
morality. There is a sequence of recurring imagery throughout Macbethwhich is significant to assist
with the audiences understanding of the play. This technique also reinforces the themes and events,

A black cat, a dark and stormy night, for instance, are all modern day symbols of wickedness and
evil. Authors many times will use these and other symbols to describe an evil character or setting.
In Elizabethan England night air was said to be impure and rheumy and it was the air in which
evils were most free since it was not purged by the sunshine. Darkness is also associated with the
supernatural. William Shakespeare employs the imagery of darkness throughout his play of
Macbeth.
Act 1 scene 1 is to set a dark and dramatic mood to the play. This was especially important in
Shakespeare s day because there obviously were no television trailers to tell the audience what to
expect before going to the play. Shakespeare wrote both comedy and tragedy so it was important to
establish which one the audience was watching very quickly.
The scene looks fragmentary, extremely grotesque but very profound. It opens with an atmosphere
that suggests the storm in Macbeth and Duncan s life and the storm that would befall on Scotland.
The use of pathetic fallacy Thunder and lightning is an indicative of the violent weather that always
accompanies terrible acts in the play. The storm reveals and foreshadows the mood of the play and

Supernatural in Shakespeare s Macbeth
The Witches and Lady Macbeth Cause the Downfall of Macbeth William Shakespeare s tragic
play, Macbeth shows the gradual descent of the character Macbeth into the moral abyss. Macbeth s
yearning for power draws him to the murder of King Duncan, Banquo, and Macduff s family. It is
difficult to understand how a courageous, gentle man such as Macbeth, could be involved in such
villainous activities. In truth, it was the witches and Lady Macbeth that transformed into evil
Macbeth s natural desire for control and authority. The play, Macbeth clearly illustrates that wicked
intention must, in the end, produce wicked action. Shakespeare focuses on Macbeth s courage early
in the play. For example, Duncan and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor!/ All hail, Macbeth! That shalt be King hereafter (I.iii.52 57)
When Macbeth hears this prophecy, many questions instantly run through his head. He begins to
wonder, What are they talking about and how will I become king? Macbeth does not entirely
trust the witches, for he does identify them with evil. The foretelling of the witches sparks the
plot of the murder. The sparks burst into flame when Lady Macbeth hears of the prophecy. Lady
Macbeth is canny and masterful as she propels Macbeth to kill Duncan. She binds Macbeth s
attention to the throne of Scotland, but never to the severity of the crime. Lady Macbeth is clever
when she constantly urges Macbeth to forget about his torments and the brutal death he has
caused. Before the actual murder, Macbeth is shrouded with fear; Banquo can see it on his face.
Although Banquo does not know about the planned murder, he asks, Good sir, why do you start,
and seem to fear/ Things that do sound so fair (I.iii.58 59)? Macbeth ponders what would happen if
the murder scheme fails, and discusses this possibility with his wife. As Macbeth struggles with
fear in the presence of Lady Macbeth, she constantly reassures him that there is nothing to fear and
that the murder will be for the better. This fear demonstrates that Macbeth realizes the difference
between right and wrong, good and evil, and the consequences thereof. However, the

sociopathic disorder, Dr. Paula MacKenzie discusses this history of the disorder. MacKenzie
defines sociopathy as a personality disorder characterized by a lack of social responsibility and
failure to adapt to ethical and social standards of the community (Mosby s Medical, Nursing,

individuals with sociopathic disorder and those without it. In an article by Blair and Cipolotti, an

The Video Is The Prolongation Of Gender Norms And The...
The most problematic aspect of the video is the prolongation of gender norms and the
overarching perception that an unmarried woman must constantly be thinking about her future

Trainor sings of shares the notion he should take you on a date, and not forget flowers every
anniversary; because if he treats her Like a lady, you ll be the perfect wife/ Buying groceries,
and Buy buying what you need. Even though Trainor has done the easy part in buying the
groceries and parading around like the perfect wife, she declares she has never learned to cook,
and her man should not expect her to be thinking I ll be home and baking apple pies. Moreover,
he has to treat her like a lady, even when she s acting crazy, because you re never wrong, so why
disagree? Yet he has to do his part in telling the perfect wife, everything s alright, and of course,
she will honestly reply with Buy me a ring. Such lyrics support the man will never be right, and
should always apologize even if he knows she is wrong, another inequality depicted through gender
roles.
As expected, it seems Trainor is quite optimistic in sharing the message that everyone is different
and should be accepted just the way they are. Though there is controversy surrounding All About

The Wisdom Of Whores-Bureaucrats Chapter Summary
Elizabeth Pisani s The Wisdom of Whores Bureaucrats, Brothels and the Business of AIDS is a
great book (along with a great website). Elizabeth Pisani is an epidemiologist with years of
experience working on HIV/AIDS (or sex and drugs, as she puts, which sounds a lot, well, sexier)
at a variety of agencies, including UNAIDS. The book is the story of her frustrations at the way the
international community, national governments, NGOS and AIDSactivists have dealt with the
epidemics, as well as her hopes in some of the progress made. To me, precisely because the book is
data driven, it was not controversial. My reaction was more, well, if that s what the data show, so
be it. But also, I think, the book was billed as controversial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The writer on the contrary points out that the initiatives have not achieved the required target
because some of them advocate for things which are not practical. Instead, she proposes that
emphasis should be laid on educating people about safe sex and not trying to restrict and control
individual liberty supposedly for the greater good. She believes the disease is not about poverty
and gender related issues, it is behavior change. Many people in African countries get the virus
because of having unsafe sex with multiple partners. This is why the rates of infection are not
declining despite the billions being spent. The honesty box tries to bring out hidden facts behind the
myths told by various researchers concerning HIV/AIDS. Some of these myths are based on the
data presented which are usually inflated to favor funding and to act as a precautionary measure
that AIDS exists everywhere. The book opens the honesty box on drawbacks of medical research
within the tropics. Pisani tackles highly contentious issues with zest, including the possible public
health shortcoming of antiretroviral treatment, in addition to the benefits of mandatory HIV/AIDS
testing. The author also presents data to show that if couples living in Thailand were to have
further premarital sex, then their men would be the least likely to use commercial sex workers and

1806 was the first all out economic warfare that had ever emerged, thanks to Napoleon and his
Continental System blockading trade into continental Europe. Despite the conflicts of War, the
economy expanded to accommodate many new job positions. Uniforms for soldiers had to be
made in surplus; women and children were hired for cheap labour being paid far less than a man
doing the same job. Two of the largest industries were dominated by cheap labour tailoring and
shoemaking. Once this practise was established, it was impossible to eliminate after the war was
over and the hundreds of thousands of men that returned had difficulty finding work furthering the
unemployment problem that had been plaguing the nation already.
Aside from the Napoleonic Wars, many harvest crises had a detrimental effects and social
ramifications. Through a series of years of dearth, bread prices skyrocketed almost immediately
and the number of people seeking poor relief increased exponentially.
The rapid economic change brought along many unsatisfied citizens. Riots and demonstrations were
held to try and ratify the problems that arose around the country. Unfortunately, most of the
demonstrations turned violent anyways, the riots seemed to get more attention from the
government than anticipated.

Homoeroticism In The Picture Of Dorian Gray
Wilde s sexuality and effeminate nature shaped his relations to the natural beauty of the world,
which in turn manifested itself in the moral implications of his now famous works. For
example, his very own personal ordeals are envisaged through the passages of The Picture of
Dorian Gray, and it has been passionately hypothesized that characters such as Basil, Dorian, and
Lord Henry are personalities of Wilde s own flamboyant character. In an interpretation written by
Donald H Ericksen, Wilde had written the following: Basil in how I see myself, Lord Henry how
the world sees me and Dorian how I would like to be . The discussions surrounding The Picture of
Dorian Graywere linked to the egregious homoeroticism displayed through the synergy of Wilde s
characters and how they interacted with each other. In a time of irrational Victorian thinking, it
comes as no surprise that Wilde s writing had evoked such a backlash. For people during the
Victorian period, Wilde s male characters and the relationships in which they maintained were more
than abundantly suggestive to enable thoughts of disgust in even the most tolerant of people. Wilde
s own sexual orientation laid out for the reader just how these relationships were assembled. In the
opening of The Picture of Dorian Gray,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

contributed to the denunciation of Oscar Wilde, and to the overwhelming amount of investigation

too much, let me tell you why. The first reason I want to go back to the 90 s is to see and meet
my great grandma and grandpa. Meeting them would be a once in a lifetime experience. I could
meet them and see what they are like. My mom has told me stories about them, but not enough to

Irish Dance Paper
Irish Dance: A Marvelous Dance
Irish step dancing has existed since the 1700 s, over 300 years. Families in Ireland have passed
down Irish step dance from generation to generation as a way of preserving their culture. While the
meaning of the dance remains the same, the performance and showmanship has changed
dramatically. From girls and boys with pale skin and natural hair to girls with fake tanned skin,
huge curly wigs, and thousand dollar dresses and boys with fake tanned skin and outlandish outfits.
Irish dance has become more of a spectacle such as Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. Those
dances are some of the most enjoyable and respected around the world. Over time this type of
dance has taken on a life of its own and changed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taking methods of the dance or stick with the traditional movements and showing them in a way
that would be more interesting to the public. Which is what was done with Riverdance and Lord of
the Dance, which take the form of the dance and use it for a dramatic necessity.
There are various parts of Irish dance that have lasted throughout the years to remain an influence
on the form known today. These basics have laid the foundation on which the dance has grown.
Performed mainly during festivals, which date from the period of Eric the Red and the Viking
raids of Ireland. While the Vikings did destroyed most books and written records, it was
acknowledged that music and dance were important to the Gaelic culture. These festivals were a
mixture of trade fair, political gathering, music, dance, sports, story telling and crafts. Today, the
sole purposes of feiseanna are competitive dance competitions. There is still music, crafts, and
trades, not as much. Officially there is no political aspect to the festivals anymore, many who
participate would tell you otherwise.
The reason that the traditional dance has remained apart of the world is because of the teachers and
students. But in order to dance the students required movements, steps, and music to put them to.
The dance masters teachers of the 18th and 19th centuries all had the same original dance steps,
while they invented their own steps on top the original ones. There are two different roots, which

Comparing The Romans And The Han Dynasty Chinese
Both the Romans and the Han Dynasty Chinese had a lot in common even though they lived
thousands of miles apart, but had many differences as well. Both civilizations lasted hundreds of
years and accumulated each a population of more than fifty to sixty million inhabitants. While the
two developed around the same time frame they spoke different languages, had different
governments, and different ways of living. Their main way of food was agriculture. Both great
civilizations had perfected the ways of trade and had built numerus roads to do so. Trade was their
major source of money and exotic products such as cotton and spices. Additionally, both of them
concentrated on territory expansion. While both these civilizations had many similarities in their
economic structure they had a few differences as well. For the Roman Empireagriculture was its
primary source of their food and wealth. The grew grains, olives, and grapes. Furthermore, out
of those crops they made olive oil and wine since that was one of their most important
commodities. Most of the grain, grape, and olive products they made were then later traded or
sold to other people. On the other hand, the Roman s had a fairly negative approach to trading,
considerably in the higher classes. Since having a surplus of crops and land was a status of wealth
while manufacturing and commerce were seen as a lesser occupation. The rich landlords had many
slaves to work in their fields to harvest their crops.
However, even with

Melanoma Research Papers
Melanoma
Skin Cancer is the abnormal division of skin cells which cause tumors in the body. There are 3
types of Skin Cancer: Melanoma, Basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma (Web Md,
year). Skin cancer is caused by the exposure of ultraviolet radiation and UV like factors (Skin
Cancer Foundation, 2015). This paper focuses on a specific type of skin cancer called Melanoma.
Melanoma is a fatal kind of skin cancer caused by ultraviolet radiation and sunshine (Skin Cancer
Foundation, 2015). It creates melanin, and increases the production of skin cells which results in
tumors (American Cancer Society, 2015). Melanoma emerges from the skin cells and the basal

Early detection of melanoma can save many lives and lead to minor cancers (Skin Cancer
Foundation, 2009). Patient skin self examination (SSE), physician directed total body skin
exams (TBSE), and patient education are the best methods to early detection (Skin Cancer
Foundation, 2009). These ways and methods can also help detect cutaneous melanoma, basal
cell cancer, and squamous cell skin cancer (Skin Cancer Foundation, 2009). In order to early
detect yourself or conduct any screenings, you must know the signs and symptoms of
Melanoma. The most common signs are the different kinds of moles: a growing, an unsually
looking mole on the skin, and a non uniform mole which has an odd shape and colors (American
Academy of Dermatology, 2015). Another important rule to always follow when looking for
signs for this skin cancer is the ABCDE rule (American Cancer Society, 2015). A is for Symmetry,
this means that one half of a mole or birthmark does not match the other. B is for Border, the edges
are irregular, ragged, or blurred. C is for Color: the color is not always same; it may be different
shades of colors. D is for Diameter: the spot is larger than 6 millimeters across. Finally E is for

Analysis Of Forester s A Passage Of India Essay
The characters Fielding and Aziz in E.M. Forester s A Passage to India differ greatly when it comes
to the integration and development of the intimate relationships in their lives. While Fielding starts
off having close to none of these vital relationships in his reality, he soon leaves behind this
meaningless way of life and begins interacting with people in more complex and intimate ways.
Aziz, on the other hand, seems to start the novel much more open to these relationships, forgetting
most of his initial aversions to foreigners and attempting to connect of a deeper emotional level
with the people around him. Approaching the end of the novel, however, Aziz experiences trauma
that causes him to shut down almost completely, casting him into a world with much fewer vital
relationships. Maybe this shows a maturing in both characters, as Fielding learns to be less guarded
and more involved with those around him while Aziz learns to be smarter about who he entrusts
with his friendship. When these fundamental human relationships are absent during stages of these
characters lives, an existence void of meaning and full of misunderstanding and conflict results, and
thus we see E.M. Forester s assertions about the importance of human intimacy proven as accurate.
Initially, there is a great dissimilarity between Fielding and Aziz when it comes to their level of
emotional involvement with others. Aziz is painted as an open character. He holds a strong
relationship with a woman who

Analysis Of The Fire Next Time By James Baldwin
In the United States, all citizens are entitled to a freedom of choice, under which they may choose
their beliefs and ideals. Unfortunately, with this freedom , people lose their sense of truth and
reality, and must rely upon the ideals of times past and present to ground themselves in this world.
The Fire Next Time, written by James Baldwin, examines this issue in Down At The
Cross , an account of the author s experience with founding his reality on religion and with his
continuing struggles with race and society. In this religious record, Baldwin discusses how he
finds a home in religion and how he spends the majority of his life in his religious career, both of
which offer a sense of safety for his lost soul. Consequently, he then describes his mistake for
trusting religion to act as his foundation as he then learns the stupefying truth of his God s
negligence, how his God takes no action to save Baldwin s people from the depths of society.
Therefore, in order to prevent the reader from resorting to the same alternative, Baldwin intends
to persuade the reader to not base their reality upon the beliefs of others or of a denomination, but
solely upon the facts of life which stand before them. He hopes to discourage the reader by
informing of the horror and the harrowing pain he experiences with having his world shaken to the
foundation. Baldwin achieves this by accentuating the shock of his realization about religion and
his God, showing the reader how this affects him as a means of persuasion.
Perrott !2
In order for Baldwin to convince the reader (to not base their reality in the beliefs of others) (is
this necessary to keep?), he elaborates upon the lurid realizations of his God and of his faith, which
changes his and the reader s perception of religion for the remainder of the book.
Since these feelings are particularly strong for Baldwin, he mirrors his experience with strong
emotional language to bring life into the story and accentuate the importance of the event, which
grasps the reader s attention as well as their interest. Baldwin exemplifies this strategy when he
illustrates the severity of his emotions at the realization of his God s negligence. Baldwin describes
his agony:
...and naturally,

  • 2. The Four Phases Of Photogrammetry The development of photogrammetry clearly depends on the general development of science and technology. It is interesting to note that the four major phases of photogrammetry are directly related to the technological inventions of photography, airplanes, computers and electronics. Figure below depicts the four generations of photogrammetry. Photogrammetry had its beginning with the invention of photography by Daguerre and Niepce in 1839.The first generation, from the middle to the end of last century, was very much a pioneering and experimental phase with remarkable achievements in terrestrial and balloon photogrammetry. The second generation, usually referred to as analog photogrammetry, is characterized by the invention of stereo photogrammetry... • 3. The Bahamas Illegal activities have permeated the Bahamas as far back as the time of Edward Blackbeard Teach; during the late 1600 s to the early 1700 s when pirates plundered British ships and occupied the islands of the Bahamas. But no illegal activity would prove to be as invasive as the drug trade of the 1980 s, which is embedded in the culture of drug use and drug smuggling of those 700 islands and cays. In the early 80 s I was oblivious to the fact that there was a major drug trade raging in our islands. At that time I was dating a young man whose family played a major role in drug distribution, mainly cocaine and during that same period I spent weeks with a family who supplied cracked as well as cocaine to the general public. I had no idea that these people were involved in drug trafficking. On one occasion I travelled to South Beach, Florida, with this young man for a vacation. However, as I got older I realized this was a part of a much larger arrangement than a vacation. The Bahamas was a haven for drug smugglers, and drug lords, like Medellin cartel kingpin Carlos Lehder and his associates. They used Normans Cay Exuma, as it s hub for drug trafficking. In due course Carlos Lehder agitated the local residents of the island, that they along with any visitors fled Normans Cay. The former... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Festival Republic and Glastonbury Festival Glastonbury from hippy weekend to international festival Steve Henderson, Leeds Metropolitan University Glastonbury Festival has beconne a worldwide attraction for music fans and artists alike. In 2009, Bruce Springsteen was added to the long list of acts (from Paul McCartney to Oasis) that have appeared at the festival. It started in 1970 when 1,500 hippy revellers gathered on a farm near Glastonbury Tor to be plied with free milk and entertainment from a makeshift stage. Now, Glastonbury is a major international festival that attracts over 150,000 attenders. Without any knowledge of the lineup, the tickets for the 2010 Festival sold out in days. In those early days, the Festival was developed by local farmer, Michael Eavis, whose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a worrying move, Live Nation announced that they would entice a number of major artists to appear on the weekend normally used by Glastonbury at a new UK festival called Wireless. Based in London, this seemed set to offer a city based alternative to Glastonbury. At much the same time, Live Nation announced that they would launch their own online ticket agency to support the sales of their music events. This shift in power between the major music promoters indicated not only their interest in the ownership of key events but their desire to control income streams. Elsewhere in the world of live entertainment, the success of Glastonbury had not gone unnoticed and the festival market showed considerable growth. Some of the other festivals tried to capitalise on features that Glastonbury could not offer. For example, Glastonbury was famous for its wet weather with pictures of damp revellers and collapsed tents being commonplace. Live Nation s city based Wireless festival offered the opportunity to sleep under a roof at home or hotel, as opposed to risking the weather outdoors. Alternatively, Benicassim in southern Spain offered a festival with an excellent chance of sunshine and top acts for the price of a low cost airline ticket. Other festivals noted that Glastonbury attenders enjoyed the wider entertainment at the event. In doing this, they realised that many festival goers were attracted by the whole social experience. The underlying principles that govern Islamic banking are mutual risk and profit sharing between the provider of capital (investor) and the user of funds (entrepreneur). In other words, it ensures an equal contribution for all parties involved, whether in profitability or in case of any loss occurred. However, one of the drawbacks of conventional banking is that it is prohibited from trading in the shareholding of the borrowing concern. (Shahid H. , et al., 2010). The performance of all the banks in the country may not necessarily be on the positive side especially since the recent financial crisis of 2007. Banks have managed to pull through but not without some being injured in terms of stock prices or profits. In 2002, the Malaysian government started the implementation of the banking sector reformation in respond to the 1997 financial crisis. Under the reform plan, Malaysian government guided the merger activities in the banking sector through the central bank. Prior to that date, the banking sector was made up of 54 domestic deposit taking institutions which became ten large capitalized banks by the end of 2002. (Ahmad, Ariff, Skully, ... Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own (1 Corinthians 6:19 20, King James Version). Does this scripture really mean not to physically kill yourself, or does this scripture mean not to use your body as a canvas for tattoos or piercings because your body should represent the life God has provided for you when cleansed by his salvation. In every individuals daily life we are taught that all sin is equal, so how can one differ on judgment day when standing in front of the Lord. Unfortunately, the Ten Commandments explain, Thou Shalt Not Kill. Does that mean you shall not kill another individual, does that mean you shall not kill yourself, or does that mean you shall not kill anyone? No one knows the exact meaning of this verse except the followers of Jesus and Jesus himself. So, I am not saying that the bible does not tell us we shall not kill ourselves, I am saying how do we know that this is true without asking Jesus himself, and why not let an individual enjoy their last few moments with their family knowing the day they must pass away. However, An individual with a short time to live has the physical and mental right to decide, which path they are going to take: planning their own death or unknowingly waiting their time to die. Hamlet is saying that the whole of Denmark is corrupt and bad and that if these weeds are not dug up they will go to seed and spread more corruption around Denmark. Throughout the play Shakespeare has a gardening theme written into it this reinforces the idea that Denmark is an unweeded garden. Nurses buzzed around, busy attending to their patients while a faint beeping sound could be heard in the background. My position was to assure that the paper work was properly completed and that all patients were attended too. While being a supervising nurse was a great responsibility, it left time to day dream. In the corner of the room, an old lady was slouched on a cracked, olive upholstered chair. A man gripped her veiny hand and softly patted her back. She appeared to suffer from a vigorous cough, which originated deep in her chest. Delicate curls framed her fragile face as hair was neatly swept to one side. A double string of ivory pearls swooped around her neck, landing in the lull of her collarbone. Vintage black eyeglasses were diligently balancing on the bridge of her crinkly nose. The wrinkles that adorned her face were indicative of many years lived and with each cough, they furrowed. She wore a knitted rose cardigan over what appeared to be a light blue night gown. Graduating from the University of Missouri, Sam enlisted in the Army for the World War II effort. Upon his return, Sam worked for a while at the J.C. Penney group of stores. He began to realize that opportunities existed in the large scale discount retailing business (nickel and dime stores). The idea and business philosophy of Wal Mart borrowed from the nickel and dime stores of earlier times, and consisted of getting National Brands in bulk at a discount based on volume purchases; the company would then stamp its mark and resell the goods at a slight markup, this rate being however less than the other competing Mom and Pop stores... Choosing to be innovative and aggressive, the founder of Wal Mart took the large scale discount retailing business to new heights and down new avenues. Sam borrowed a lot of ideas for his early stores from Kmart and others. But it was what he chose to do differently В– the ways he put his own stamp on the basic business model В– that made Wal Mart so fabulously successful. His model was the same as Kmart s, but his strategy was unique. From the very beginning, Walton chose to serve a different group of customers. At that time, the 10 largest discounters (in 1962) focused on large metropolitan areas and cities like New York. Wal Mart s key strategy was to put good size stores into little one horse towns which everybody else was ignoring. He sought out isolated rural towns with populations between 5,000 25,000, and correctly bet that if his stores could match or beat the city prices, people would shop at home. Since Wal Mart s markets tended to be too small to support more than one large retailer, eventually the small local competitors went out of business, making the whole area Wal Mart territory. Wal Mart also took a different approach to merchandising and pricing than its competitors. While competitors relied heavily on private label goods, second tier brands and price promotions, Wal Mart promised National Brands at everyday low prices. The company pursued efficiency and ... • 26. Different Aspects That Go Into Making A Business... There are many different aspects that go into making a business successful. Businesses need a strong vision, great leaders within the organization, strong sales, a successful sales team, a steady stream of revenue as well as a way to produce the revenue or sales coming in. Two important aspects of business that are not always brought up, is profit and the costto operate the organization. Often times managers only look at the net profit or net revenue on their Profit and Loss statements without breaking down the numbers or cost of doing business. Even if an organization is successful and has a great profit margin at the end of the month, quarter or year, does not mean they do not need to analyze the cost of the operations. Analyzing those costscannot only help an organization become profitable, when they are unprofitable, but can make them more profitable even if they show a healthy profit. Finding ways to cut cost or become more efficient with the operations can lead an organization in the right direction when it comes to their finances (Ahmed, S., 2016). When small businesses are involved they need to pay close attention to their cost and controlling their cost. Profit planning is one way to manage cost and use the budget to create ways for the managers to recognize how to work cheaper and more efficiently. Language is very powerful and the ones who are talented hold deep responsibility. This power can be extremely positive or extremely detrimental to a society as whole. Dialect between one another can help others unite, while having the hazard of manipulation, or even brainwashing. A legendary example of the use of language is Animal Farm, the novel written by George Orwell. The objective in using language is to bring people together. In Animal Farm, the pigs brought the animals together to rebel against Jones. In Chapter One, Old Major and the pigs show leadership and bring forth ideas to overthrow Jones. This is an example of others coming together for a common good through language. In the middle of this historic novel, the animals finally gain control of the farm. In chapter three, the pigs had to use language to encourage the other animals to farm for their peers. Once Animal Farm practically became an empire, the citizens of the farm started their first huge project: building a windmill. This is another example of how the guidance of good language can help communities accomplish massive goals. In Elizabethan England night air was said to be impure and rheumy and it was the air in which evils were most free since it was not purged by the sunshine. Darkness is also associated with the supernatural. William Shakespeare employs the imagery of darkness throughout his play of Macbeth. Act 1 scene 1 is to set a dark and dramatic mood to the play. This was especially important in Shakespeare s day because there obviously were no television trailers to tell the audience what to expect before going to the play. Shakespeare wrote both comedy and tragedy so it was important to establish which one the audience was watching very quickly. The scene looks fragmentary, extremely grotesque but very profound. It opens with an atmosphere that suggests the storm in Macbeth and Duncan s life and the storm that would befall on Scotland. • 29. Supernatural in Shakespeare s Macbeth The Witches and Lady Macbeth Cause the Downfall of Macbeth William Shakespeare s tragic play, Macbeth shows the gradual descent of the character Macbeth into the moral abyss. Macbeth s yearning for power draws him to the murder of King Duncan, Banquo, and Macduff s family. It is difficult to understand how a courageous, gentle man such as Macbeth, could be involved in such villainous activities. In truth, it was the witches and Lady Macbeth that transformed into evil Macbeth s natural desire for control and authority. The play, Macbeth clearly illustrates that wicked intention must, in the end, produce wicked action. Shakespeare focuses on Macbeth s courage early in the play. For example, Duncan and the... That shalt be King hereafter (I.iii.52 57) When Macbeth hears this prophecy, many questions instantly run through his head. He begins to wonder, What are they talking about and how will I become king? Macbeth does not entirely trust the witches, for he does identify them with evil. The foretelling of the witches sparks the plot of the murder. The sparks burst into flame when Lady Macbeth hears of the prophecy. Lady Macbeth is canny and masterful as she propels Macbeth to kill Duncan. She binds Macbeth s attention to the throne of Scotland, but never to the severity of the crime. Lady Macbeth is clever when she constantly urges Macbeth to forget about his torments and the brutal death he has caused. Before the actual murder, Macbeth is shrouded with fear; Banquo can see it on his face. Although Banquo does not know about the planned murder, he asks, Good sir, why do you start, and seem to fear/ Things that do sound so fair (I.iii.58 59)? Macbeth ponders what would happen if the murder scheme fails, and discusses this possibility with his wife. As Macbeth struggles with fear in the presence of Lady Macbeth, she constantly reassures him that there is nothing to fear and that the murder will be for the better. This fear demonstrates that Macbeth realizes the difference between right and wrong, good and evil, and the consequences thereof. However, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparing The Romans And The Han Dynasty Chinese Both the Romans and the Han Dynasty Chinese had a lot in common even though they lived thousands of miles apart, but had many differences as well. Both civilizations lasted hundreds of years and accumulated each a population of more than fifty to sixty million inhabitants. While the two developed around the same time frame they spoke different languages, had different governments, and different ways of living. Their main way of food was agriculture. Both great civilizations had perfected the ways of trade and had built numerus roads to do so. Trade was their major source of money and exotic products such as cotton and spices. Additionally, both of them concentrated on territory expansion. While both these civilizations had many similarities in their economic structure they had a few differences as well. For the Roman Empireagriculture was its primary source of their food and wealth. The grew grains, olives, and grapes. Furthermore, out of those crops they made olive oil and wine since that was one of their most important commodities. Most of the grain, grape, and olive products they made were then later traded or sold to other people. On the other hand, the Roman s had a fairly negative approach to trading, considerably in the higher classes. Since having a surplus of crops and land was a status of wealth while manufacturing and commerce were seen as a lesser occupation. The rich landlords had many slaves to work in their fields to harvest their crops. However, even with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These ways and methods can also help detect cutaneous melanoma, basal cell cancer, and squamous cell skin cancer (Skin Cancer Foundation, 2009). • 52. Analysis Of Forester s A Passage Of India Essay The characters Fielding and Aziz in E.M. Forester s A Passage to India differ greatly when it comes to the integration and development of the intimate relationships in their lives. While Fielding starts off having close to none of these vital relationships in his reality, he soon leaves behind this meaningless way of life and begins interacting with people in more complex and intimate ways. Aziz, on the other hand, seems to start the novel much more open to these relationships, forgetting most of his initial aversions to foreigners and attempting to connect of a deeper emotional level with the people around him. Approaching the end of the novel, however, Aziz experiences trauma that causes him to shut down almost completely, casting him into a world with much fewer vital relationships. Maybe this shows a maturing in both characters, as Fielding learns to be less guarded and more involved with those around him while Aziz learns to be smarter about who he entrusts with his friendship. When these fundamental human relationships are absent during stages of these characters lives, an existence void of meaning and full of misunderstanding and conflict results, and thus we see E.M. Forester s assertions about the importance of human intimacy proven as accurate. Initially, there is a great dissimilarity between Fielding and Aziz when it comes to their level of emotional involvement with others. Aziz is painted as an open character. He holds a strong relationship with a woman who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Analysis Of The Fire Next Time By James Baldwin In the United States, all citizens are entitled to a freedom of choice, under which they may choose their beliefs and ideals. Unfortunately, with this freedom , people lose their sense of truth and reality, and must rely upon the ideals of times past and present to ground themselves in this world. The Fire Next Time, written by James Baldwin, examines this issue in Down At The Cross , an account of the author s experience with founding his reality on religion and with his continuing struggles with race and society. In this religious record, Baldwin discusses how he finds a home in religion and how he spends the majority of his life in his religious career, both of which offer a sense of safety for his lost soul. Consequently, he then describes his mistake for trusting religion to act as his foundation as he then learns the stupefying truth of his God s negligence, how his God takes no action to save Baldwin s people from the depths of society. Therefore, in order to prevent the reader from resorting to the same alternative, Baldwin intends to persuade the reader to not base their reality upon the beliefs of others or of a denomination, but solely upon the facts of life which stand before them. He hopes to discourage the reader by informing of the horror and the harrowing pain he experiences with having his world shaken to the foundation. Baldwin achieves this by accentuating the shock of his realization about religion and his God, showing the reader how this affects him as a means of persuasion. Perrott !2 In order for Baldwin to convince the reader (to not base their reality in the beliefs of others) (is this necessary to keep?), he elaborates upon the lurid realizations of his God and of his faith, which changes his and the reader s perception of religion for the remainder of the book. Since these feelings are particularly strong for Baldwin, he mirrors his experience with strong emotional language to bring life into the story and accentuate the importance of the event, which grasps the reader s attention as well as their interest. Baldwin exemplifies this strategy when he illustrates the severity of his emotions at the realization of his God s negligence. Baldwin describes his agony: ...and naturally, ...
