1. Essay On Global Warming
Writing an essay on the topic of global warming can be a challenging task due to the complexity
and breadth of the subject matter. Global warming encompasses a wide range of scientific,
environmental, social, and political aspects, making it essential for the writer to delve into various
disciplines to present a comprehensive and well-informed perspective.
One of the difficulties lies in the need to synthesize information from diverse sources, including
scientific studies, environmental reports, and policy documents. The constantly evolving nature
of climate science adds an additional layer of complexity, requiring the writer to stay updated
with the latest research findings and developments in the field.
Furthermore, addressing the global impact of climate change necessitates an understanding of
different cultural, economic, and political contexts. Analyzing the interconnectedness of
environmental issues with societal structures and behaviors adds depth to the essay but also
increases the challenge of presenting a balanced and nuanced argument.
Crafting a compelling essay on global warming also requires the ability to communicate complex
scientific concepts in a way that is accessible to a general audience. Striking the right balance
between technical accuracy and readability is crucial to engage readers and convey the urgency
of the issue.
In addition, the essay should not merely present problems but also explore potential solutions
and inspire action. This requires a creative approach to problem-solving and an ability to envision
a sustainable future amidst the current environmental challenges.
In conclusion, writing an essay on global warming demands a multidisciplinary approach,
continuous research, effective communication skills, and a sense of responsibility towards the
urgent issues our planet faces. While challenging, the process of tackling such a significant and
pressing topic can be immensely rewarding, offering the opportunity to contribute to raising
awareness and promoting positive change.

2. First Philippic Against Marcus
In Cicero #8217;s, #8220;First Philippic against Marcus Antonius, #8221; he is
offering his view on the political situation after the death of Caesar. His purpose for
coming before the Senate is to drive them to the realization that Marcus Antonius and
his actions are slowly breaking down the unity of the country. He praises Marcus
Antonius for his fine speech, intentions, and promises, then points out the fallacies
and unconstitutionality of Marcus Antonius #8217; actions. He reminds the Senators
that #8220;Nothing was done any longer through the Senate #8230; #8221; because
measures were being passed without declaration or consent. The Senate and Caesar

return. When he had left, he had a date that he would return in mind, January 1st.
Shortly after his arrival in Greece, he heard news of #8220;a well attended meeting
of the Senate on the first of August and that Antonius was going to drop his bad
advisers, renounce his governorship of the Gallic provinces, and resume his
allegiance to the authority of the Senate. #8221; He makes is clear that he was

3. Prostitution in the Victorian Era Essay
Prostitution in the Victorian Era
There were many prostitutes during the Victorian era. Most were lower class women,
with the exception of the mistresses kept by upper class men. According to Victorian
standards, respectable women did not consider sexual intercourse pleasurable. It was
their duty to be intimate with their husbands. Having affairs was disgraceful (Waters).
Prostitutes, on the other hand, were sexually intimate with men because they enjoyed
sex. Men enjoyed prostitutes because they could not enjoy their wives. Victorian
femininity was not defined by sexual pleasure, while Victorian masculinity was
defined by sexual pleasure and conquest. Prostitutes did not necessarily enjoy their

Respectable men and women would lure young women, usually from a lower class
background, away from their homes and sell them into prostitution. Rarely did these
young women go back to their families; not because they free to go, but because the
procurators and procuresses never allowed these women a moment to be truly alone
in public. These horrible men and women controlled these young women s lives as if
they were possessions. In the off chance that a young woman escaped her bondage,
she was not welcome back into her family with open arms. She was an outcast
because she was a prostitute (by society s standards). Unfortunately, there was no help
for these young girls, or any other prostitute. The people in a position to help them,
like The Society for the Protection of Women and Children, turned a blind eye
towards these women. The Society for the Protection of Women and Children only
helped the privileged, not the needy (Wells 56). Prostitutes were not confined to one
way of presenting their services. There were many types of brothels that serviced
men from all social classes visited. Streetwalkers lived in Accommodation houses,
which is one type of brothel (Wells 56). These women did not pay a Madame for
their room and board, but accountable to themselves. Other prostitutes lived under the
watchful eyes of their procuresses. These women lived in

Has mankind discovered some fantastic substitute for fat to enable people to eat as
many snacks as possible without gaining weight? Recently, Proctor Gamble
developed Olestra (sucrose polyester), a zero calorie fat based substitute, at a cost of
$200 million. This product has been approved by the Federal Drug Administration
(FDA) with warning labels.
What is olestra?
The olestra molecule differs from a fat molecule in that it has six to eight fatty acids
on a sucrose core, as opposed to three fatty acids on a glycerol core. The bulkier
olestra molecule is not digested, absorbed , or metabolized, and thus provides no
calories (Stern Hermann Zaidins ,1992 ). It has the same taste and texture of fat, ...

Are there any side effects?
There are some interesting drawbacks to olestra. Olestra causes diarrhea and
affects the absorption of Vitamins A, D, E, and K. In essence, olestra acts like a
giant sponge, taking nutrients out of the body before they have a chance to be
absorbed in the intestines. Olestra may cause abdominal cramping and loose stools
in some individuals, and inhibits the body s absorption of certain fat soluble
vitamins and nutrients, said Commissioner of Food and Drugs, David A. Kessler,
M.D. ( http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/NEW00524.html). In one study,
almost one half of the group reported having diarrhea, bloating, and gas
disturbances after eating eight grams of olestra, the equivalent of less than the
amount of olestra in one ounce of potato chips (http://plainfield.bypass.com
/%7Etwilbur/olestra.html). Since olestra blocks Vitamins A, D, E, and K, these
nutrients cannot protect us against disease. The FDA requires that Vitamins A, D,
E, and K be added to all products with olestra. Olestra also blocks the absorption of
beta carotene. Foods rich in beta carotene, such as sweet potatoes, broccoli,
cantaloupe, and many other fruits and vegetables protect the immune system, and
act as a buffer against cancer and heart disease. Studies have shown that eating even a
small snack bag of olestra fried potato chips can reduce blood levels of beta carotene
by 60%
6. The Genius Of Sir Isaac Newton
History has had its fair share of phenomenal scientists, but none can overshadow
the genius of Sir Isaac Newton. Isaac Newton was born on January 4, 1643. His
father died before he was born and he lived in Colsterworth in Lincolnshire with his
grandparents and three siblings. Isaac Newton was know to be quite secluded as a
young boy. Young Newton had a knack for model making and art, for example, he
made a working model of a windmill at some point in his childhood. He also made
other things such as dolls furniture and water clocks. Isaac s grandparents sent him to
king s school in grantham. At the age of eighteen, Newton attended Cambridge. He
was a major contributor to the scientific revolution alongside numerous other great

Newton s discoveries about gravity all began while he was sitting under an apple
tree. one of the apples fell from the tree making him begin to think about what caused
the change in acceleration and velocity in the apple. Newton s law of universal
gravitation states that Every object in the universe attracts every other object with a
force directed along the lines of centers for the two objects that is proportional to
the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the separation
between the two objects . This law indicates that all objects in the universe are
constantly pulling against each other. This law began to work wonders in not only
his own laws and discoveries, but also in the finding of Johannes Kepler and his laws
of planetary motion.
This law of gravity coincides perfectly with Johannes Kepler s laws of planetary
motion. His first law state that The orbit of a planet about the Sun is an ellipse
with the Sun at one focus . This means that all planets orbit in ellipses around one
of two focuses being the sun. The second focus forms a more oval shaped orbit
because it is an area of lesser gravity that the planet slightly strays from the
magnitude of the gravitational pull of the sun. This first law can be clearly seen in
the solar system earth is currently in. Kepler s second law explains that A line
joining a planet and the Sun sweeps out equal areas in equal intervals of time This
7. What Is The Theme Of Ambition In King Lear
How Far Will One Go for Their Personal Desire? Many people are driven by their
desires, and rise over them with ambition. Ambition blinds the characters from their
morals and pushes them to their break thrilling boundaries to reach their goals. The
characters ambition abolished through any obstacles in the path of their objective. In
Shakespeare s tragic play, King Lear, ambition pushes the characters toward their
desires, without consideration towards the impact on others and the negative
consequences. The ambition triggers the evil thoughts in the minds of the characters
to reach their goals causing them to break bonds, manipulates and deceive, and make
their victims feel regretful. Ultimately, the images of the weather and clothing reveal
how these blinded characters rise over their base desires using evil acts.
To begin, the overwhelming ambition of the characters causes disruption within their
family relationship. The care for their loved ones is diminished, as they prioritize
their goals over family. The characters set everything aside other than their goals,
making everything else including family bond irrelevant and insignificant. This is
evident in the characteristics of Edmund when he turns against his own father,
exposing his secretive bond with Lear. Gloucester is supposed to stand by the Duke
of Burgundy s side but instead went to help Lear. Edmund spilled his father s secret
saying, If I find him confronting the king, it will stuff his suspicion more

Through trial and error Banting was able to perfect the purification of insulin in order

This disease does not favor one gender over the other, it effects males and females
equally. Currently, the origin of diabetes is a conundrum. Although, it is understood
that the immune system attacks the beta cells but it is not clear how or why it occurs.
It is hypothesized that T1D maybe hereditary and environmental factors contribute to
the onset (5). Symptoms prevail in individuals whom have the majority of their beta
cells destroyed via a cellular mediated autoimmune response (1). The insulin signaling
cascade is initiated when insulin binds to insulin receptors located on the cell s
surface. The insulin receptor has four subunits: two alpha subunits located on the
outside of the cell and two transmembrane beta subunits (3 4). When insulin binds to
the alpha subunit receptors, it transmits a signal across the plasma membrane and
activates tyrosine residues that are attached to the beta subunits. The activation of the
tyrosine residues causes it to autophosphorolate and then phosphorolate other proteins
that also have tyrosine residues attached to them. These phosphorylated proteins then
move on to trigger cellular responses such as translocation of GLUT4 vesicule to the
cell membrane. The vesicule becomes a transporter to allow glucose to come into the
cell so that it can continue on and be stored as glycogen (3). A beta cell specific
autoimmune process is the beginning of the destruction of the beta cells that produce
insulin.

Has the chain link fence rail surrounding your commercial property recently been
bent in a storm or as the result of an intruder? If so, you may be worried that
repairing this damage will cost a small fortune and require the use of a professional
contractor. However, the truth is, you can limit the impact that these repairs have on
your budget by simply choosing to do the job yourself. Best of all, completing this
task can be much easier than you think when simply following the steps outlined
below.
Supplies You Will Need

Step 1: Remove Damaged Rail
Begin by removing the section of damaged rail by cutting the rail into manageable
sections using a hacksaw. The friction caused by this sawing process may result in
hot metal sparks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Begin by measuring the space between your fencing posts to ensure you are
choosing the right size rail for the job. Next, remove the post cap, brace bands, and
tension bands from the fencing post on one side of the new rail. This will allow you
to slide the new rail into place.
After sliding the rail into place, simply attach the end of the rail to the rail cap. Next,
replace the brace bands to hold the rail in place.
Step 3: Attach Chain Link
Stretch the chain link over the posts and ensure that the brace bands and post caps
are in place before using your pliers to tighten the bolts that connect this fencing
material to your newly installed rail. While this process can be completed on your
own, it is much easier to complete with two set of hands so don t be afraid to ask a
co worker or friend for help.
Once the chain link is in place, reattach the tension bars that were removed in the
previous step. This will hold the fencing tight between the surrounding fence posts.
Finally, use your tie wires to secure the chain link to your new top rail.

Intro:
The argument comes up that the Protecting the Local Business Opportunity Act
(PLBOA) as last proposed in 2015 should be passed by congress and signed into
law. We are against this and we as a team are linking with the National Labor
Relations Board (NLRB). This bill amends the National Labor Relations Act to allow
two or more employers to be considered joint employers for purposes of the Act
only if each employer shares and exercises control over essential terms and
conditions of employment and such control over these matters is actual, direct, and
immediate. Our first argument is that it is a good business strategy for the parent
company to oversee and assume responsibility of all subset operations. Which
basically is overseeing the fair labor relations, which results in happy employees and
high productivity. Our second argument argues that if a company determines your
shifts, pay cap, and working conditions, regardless of if the employee is directly
employed by them, then it should be required to assume responsibility of
unionization caused by unfair labor practice, which can be directed back to human
rights. Finally our third argument the PLBOA undermines the employee s right to
collectively bargain for better working conditions, wages, etc. regarding labor
relations. Our
11. Impact of Race in Othello Essay
Impact of Race in Othello
One of the major issues in Shakespeare s Othello is the impact of the race of the
main character, Othello. His skin color is non white, usually portrayed as African
although some productions portray him as an Arabian. Othello is referred to by his
name only seventeen times in the play. He is referred to as The Moorfifty eight
times. Webster s Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913) states that a Moor is Any
individual of the swarthy races of Africa or Asia which have adopted the
Mohammedan religion. In Spanish history the terms Moo, Saracens, and Arabs are
synonymous. This indicates that Othello is constantly being degraded and set up as
an evil person throughout the play. What this really means is that... Show more

Shakespeare occasionally used the word to mean brunette or just dark complected1.
Roderigo s comment that he has thick lips indicates that he is of African descent,
though (1.1.67). Using the modern understanding of these references, Othello would
most likely be portrayed as an African on modern stage or film.
Othello himself was a slave before he was an important military official (1.3.137).
However, he wasn t sold into slavery as most African slaves were. He was captured
by the enemy and forced into slavery as a prisoner of war. Hence, the slavery of the
play and of the time is viewed as a financial or military misfortune rather than a
racial inferiority which would be commonly accepted for several hundred years
after the play was written. Black and slave were not interchangeable terms at the
time as it was during America s early history. European slaves were commonly
Tartar, Greek, Armenian, Russian, Bulgarian, Turkish, Circassian, Slavonic, Cretan,
Arab, or African. As if to distance the issue of slavery even further, it was often
portrayed as happening long ago or far away on the English Renaissance stage2. As
Shakespeare wrote the play, feudalism was eroding, but it was still strong in the
minds of the audience. Slavery is very similar to feudalism in that they both involve
the lower classes being subject to higher classes. Slavery had to be distanced from the
English in order to not be threatening and to reassure them
12. Deprivation Account Of Death Analysis
How does the deprivation account deal with this?
According to the deprivation account, death can be a misfortune for you if it
deprives you of the good things you would have otherwise experienced. Similarly,
death can be good for you if your life is not worth living any more. Thus, the
deprivation account captures a fundamental intuition about life and death: the value of
death depends on what life had in store for you had you not died at that moment.
The deprivation account evaluates the badness of death quantifying the amount of
welfare loss that the death inflicts on the victim. This evaluation is based on a
comparison between two possible well being levels of the person: the well being
level in the person s life until the time of death to the well being level of the
possible life he could have had. If the value of the comparison is negative, this is, if
death makes the well being level lower that it would have been otherwise, death is a
misfortune for the person. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, how do we do this comparison when one of the terms of the comparison does
not exist? How can we compare both situations? Philosophers talk sometimes in
terms of counterfactuals, or possible worlds (cit needed). It is possible to imagine a
world equal to ours in every respect apart from Carol s death. In one world Carol dies
tomorrow, in the other relevant (for our purposes) possible world Carol dies a month
from today, whilst all the rest of the characteristics of the world remain constant (we
refer to his as the closest possible world). The difference in value between the two
worlds is the value of Carol s

business segments. The E P segment entails searching for viable underground or
underwater gas and oil fields, by drilling the exploratory wells, and afterward
operating these wells that recover, bringing raw natural gas and crude oil to the
surface. The R M segment deals in base stock lubricants and gasoline, while the
petrochemicals entails marketing and selling of various petrochemical products,
including aromatics, styrene, polypropylene, polyethylene, and lubricant and fuel
additives. Midland has proven very profitable over the years, recording $248.5B in

The task by Ms. Mortensen to compute the weighted Cost of Capital (WACC) is vital
in attaining four objectives: (1) to support financial accounting and capital budgeting
decisions, (2) for performance assessments, (3) to inform merger and acquisition

approximations by Ms. Mortensen appears to misguide these decisions. This is
because the inputs and assumptions are misleading as evidenced by criticism by the

14. The Importance Of Bringing Little House To Television
Little House on the Prairie is one of the most beloved television series of all time
and is based on the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder which were
published between 1932 and 1943. In an interesting note, Wilder originally set out
to write an autobiography aimed at an adult audience but couldn t find a publisher,
so she ended up using the material from her autobiography to write the Little House
books. Bringing Little House to Television Walt Disney expressed interest in
bringing the Little House books to television as far back as the 1950s, but his
production people convinced him that the books were too complicated to be made
into a television series. In the early 1970s, Ed Friendly became interested in bringing

Friendly went through a couple screenwriters before he finally had a script for the

but they already had The Waltons and didn t want another rural show. Friendly
then contacted Michael Landon and asked him if he would direct the pilot movie
should any network end up expressing interest. Landon had starred in Bonanza
until it was cancelled in 1972. He was under contract to do another series for NBC,
but didn t like any of the ideas they had come up with. He read the pilot script, had
his children read the books and then told Friendly he would like to direct and play
the father, Charles Ingalls. Friendly agreed and said NBC probably wouldn t have
been interested without Landon s involvement. Karen Grassle, Melissa Gilbert,
and Melissa Sue Anderson were cast as Caroline, Laura, and Mary Ingalls, while
Carrie Ingalls was played by twins, Lindsay and Sidney Greenbush. Last but not least,
Victor French played Mr. Edwards and turned in a memorable performance in the

Made Desolate in America I remember when my mom found out the news. I came
over to visit her and was let in their home by her husband. As I entered their living
room I noticed tears were rolling down my mother s cheeks as she starred at her
laptop screen. Her eyes were bright red from crying and she seem furious. I asked
what was wrong, while glancing at what she was reading. The screen read that the
EUC program has ended for millions. The emergency unemployment compensation
program (EUC) was created in 08 by President George W. Bush and the House of
Representatives at the time. It was a federal funded program that would kick in
after a claimant exhaust their state unemployment. So if a claimant were to
exhaust their 26 weeks of state unemployment funds, they would be eligible for up
to 99 weeks of federal funds. The House at the time considered the fact that many
claimants may not be able to find employment right away. So in order to offset
their financial hardships they allowed extra claim weeks to cover them. However
the majority of this terms House felt differently. Tom Harkin, who is the senator of
Iowa, shared some of the House s opinion in an article, for The Congressional
Digest. He said, Unfortunately some people in this chamber seem to think that the
misfortune of losing a job means that these hardworking folk are to blame. Or that
they don t deserve this basic lifeline. Some here in the senate have even called it a
disservice to continue this program. (Harkin

19. Habits of the Mind
Habits of Mind The habits of mind might better be termed the habits of a perfected
mind since most have not acquired all of these habits. The two selected for this
paper are persistence and precision. Both are difficult to embed because they require
disciple and mental toughness. This paper discusses the connection between the two
and how they can be defeated if a student is distracted from them. Persistence and
precision are habits of mindthat require many of the same skills to acquire.
Persistence is defined as sticking to a task until it is completed (Costa Kallick,
2008). It is the ability to fail and to continue pressing towards a goal despite
continuous rejection of the effort. People who have this trait are not afraid of the
outcome of a single endeavor, but press on until they are successful. Having
precision of language and thought is striving to communicate accurately in both
written and oral form, taking care to use precise language; defining terms; and
using correct names, labels and analogies (Costa Kallick, 2008). This ability is
fostered by a mind that wants to ensure that it is communicating thoughts clearly so
that they are not misunderstood. It is also a skill that takes a great deal of
determination and discipline to perfect. These two skills can be innate, in a very few
people, but by the majority they are acquired (Watts, 2012). Thinking clearly is the
first step to communicating clearly, and this leads to the ability to accomplish tasks. A
20. Keeping the Past Alive in in A Rose for Emily by William...
Miss Emily Grierson, the leading character in A Rose for Emily , is a bizarre
woman to say the least. Faulkner begins this story with Miss Emily s funeral, and
continues to tell about the interesting events in her life. All throughout the story,
Miss Emily exhibits many traits of a mentally ill person, but is never medically
diagnosed. Faulkner writes, Miss Emily had been a tradition, a duty, and a care
(245), meaning that she stuck to her Southern raised ways. She refused to conform
to the modernization of the world around her. The narrator of this story seems to
be a person that knows Miss Emily and her family very intimately. The narrator
also considers themselves apart of the townspeople referred to as the we
throughout the story. This story tells about the ups and downs in the extremely
intriguing life of a woman that refuses to leave her past. After her death, the whole
town went to her funeral: the men through a sort of respectful affection for a fallen

21. Class Structure, Warfare, Family Life, Religious...
Class structure, warfare, family life, religious practices, and agriculture are all
aspects of the Aztec s culture. The Aztecs had a legend about the beginning of their
empire. The legend said that the gods will send an eagle perched on a cactus and
have a snake in its mouth. This was than the right place to build their empire. The
Aztecs were a powerful empire that prospered.
The first important aspect in the Aztec s culture was class structure. At the top of the
structure is the ruler. The ruler was considered semi divine and the spot was not
hereditary. When the emperor died, a group of advisors chose the next emperor.
Nobles came next on the list. The most common jobs for nobles were government
officials, priests, and military ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another important aspect of the Aztec s culture was family life. Men build the
house and worked as farmers or craftsmen. Women cooked, watched the garden,
and looked after animals. The Aztecs believed that the most important job for a
woman was to bare and care for a child. When boys were young, they fetched water
and wood and attended school. The commoner boys would only attended school half
the time, while noble boys stayed there to learn their jobs. When they grew older,
they would learn how to fish, how to handle a canoe, and went to the market with
their fathers. Young girls were taught how to weave. Family life was important
because without everyone doing a job, they wouldn t have became a great empire.
An equally important aspect of their culture is religion. The Aztecs believed in
many gods. Their primary god was Huitzilopochtli, the sun god. The Aztecs believe
that the sun fights against darkness and they need to help him by giving him blood.
To please Huitzilopochtli, priests sacrificed hundreds of birds in the morning. They
thought that the best sacrifice was blood from people, in particular the blood of a
warrior captured in battle. Some people sacrificed themselves willingly thinking that
they would accompany the sun god s daily battle. Religious practices were important
because most of what the Aztecs did was to please the gods. The last important
aspect of the Aztec s culture is agriculture. The land around

The Hertz Corporation Leveraged Buy Out
Key Inferences and Conclusions:
1.Hertz was attractive as a leverage buyout candidate, having:
Relatively low existing debt loads with assets available to further leverage;
A multi year history of stable and recurring cash flows;
Hard assets (Rental Fleet and Equipment) that may be used as collateral for lower
cost secured debt;
The potential for new management to make operational or other improvements to the
firm to boost cash flows;
Market conditions (9/11) that depress the valuation or stock price.

Also this debt is huge relative to the competitors Dollar Thrifty and United Rentals,
who owe only 2.5 billion and 3.167 billion respectively.
Thus the price of $5.6 billion plus the existing debts were really high when the scope
of return from this capital employed was concerned.
Risks of Hertz LBO by CD R:
1.Excessive debt financing, comprising about 15.995 billion dollars, which can lead
to large interest payments that exceeded the company s operating cash flow.
The inability to repay debt in an LBO can be caused by initial overpricing of Hertz
and its assets. Because LBO funds often attempt to increase the value of an acquired
company by liquidating certain assets or selling underperforming business units, the
bought out firm may face insolvency as depleted operating revenues become
insufficient to repay the debt. Over optimistic forecasts of the revenues of the target
company(Hertz) may also lead to financial distress after acquisition.
2.Opportunity to sell off Hertz might be difficult as for CD R as higher rates reduce
the potential value of the companies they hold, since a new buyer will pay more in
interest to carry the debt.
3.By leveraging the company s key asset with an eye on flipping or selling the
company for a profit, CD R can jeopardize Hertz s credit rating

Political Rights
Abstract
The paper will consist of detailing key ideas that are used to identify a human s
political rights. Political Rights started with the creation of the Magna Carta in
England, whose policies were carried into the United States Constitution and its Bill
of Rights. There are specific U.S. Court cases that test a United States Citizen s
political rights, and they are identified in the Bill of Rights, such as the First
Amendment, Fourth Amendment, and the Eighth Amendment, each of with protects
a person s freedoms, prohibits search and seizure without a justified cause, and cruel
and unusual punishment, respectively.
Keywords: political rights, Magna Carta, United States Constitution, freedoms, search
and seizure ,cruel and unusual punishment.
Human rights are moral principles or norms that describe certain standards of human
behavior, and are regularly protected as legal rights in national and international law.
There are many different aspects of Human Rights that are applicable in different
senses of the world that every human should go by. One of the aspects of Human
Rights is Political Rights. According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, Political Rights
are the rights that involve participation in the establishment or administration of a
government and are usually held to entitle the adult citizen to exercise of the
franchise, the holding of public office, and
25. Computer Science And Its First Leap Out Of Mathematics
In the beginning, there was Math; and for a long time after there was only Math.
Computer Science is a relatively new field compared to others such as Math,
Communication, Philosophy, etc. Computer Science could be boiled down to The
study of how to compute . In this way of looking at the field, you can see how it
originated from people s desires to compute faster and more complex problems. This
desire led us to the abacus, mechanical calculators, and eventually to the computer.
Computer sciencetoday is the theory, design and application of computers. Today
computer scientists care about more than just solving complex math problems.
They care about solving complex global problems like curing disease, identity
fraud, and getting people to Mars. World War 2 is where the field of Computer
Science made its first leap out of the shadows of Mathematics. It was thanks to the
military need to safely test new weapons of mass destruction with the use of
computer simulations that computers got their first push. The military s desire to
encrypt information that a team of humans could not decipher in a reasonable
amount of time also helped give rise to machines that could do more complex work
than a single human and complete them in faster times than a team of humans. It was
various world governments looking to save man power and resources that lead to
the shift toward machines, that would one day be computers, working for us. As
important as World War II was for the birth of

Even though the price of native plants and trees are more expensive than usual, there
are many existing companies that support people to plant the native plants and trees
such as giving away the grant and seed for the volunteer. As a Merced resident, I

volunteer in order to grantmoney and seeds from other private supporters. Since those
supporters offer everything for people to do so, why don t people accept those
offers? With that in mind, since the native plantsand trees are highly expensive than

At first, I was wondering what does it actually mean. The description is explaining
the government offers grants to gardening projects, which can be beneficial to the
community. In other words, the government is giving away the money to gardening
the society where we live. Because planting is always bifacial to the environment. In
fact, the government hands out $10 billion subsidies per month, which has many
unclaimed subsidies which most people may qualify. Throughout the application, the
volunteer must illustrate that his or her proposal will benefit the community, such as
planting the native plants, then you have a chance to receive a free grant. Since it is
a grant, you don t have to payback, all is yours. However, the grant system from the
government is operated by the (USDA), which has several opportunities including the
garden grant which I am mentioning, but has more clearly explanation of how to
qualify. Nevertheless, they have several opportunities as a result of several
qualifications either, it s depending on which one the volunteer wants to do

During the Second World War My grandfather had served in the United States
Navy starting in 1944. During his time in the war he was able to visit many islands
that were once being occupied by the Japanese and could see the remainders of
their rule. He was able to see what had happened to the local people who got caught
in the middle of a war that they had no place in and how it affect all of them. That
is what I researched, how the Japanese treated the people that they occupied and
what had happened to the people during the Second World War. Before the start of
the war many of the islands in the pacific had been inhabited by native people, and
during the Age of Imperialism many islands had been taking over by European
powers for their natural resources. These islands being just south of Japan had
gained their interest for both economic and strategic reasons and they began to take
control of them in the late 1800 s. Then throughout the war the Japanese had
captured many islands during the war and had moved some ways into China as
well. The people who would be used as a labor force and sometimes the women
would become comfort women or sex slaves. It is shown that the way that the
Japanese treated the inhabitants was poor and towards the end of the war when the
Americans came in the Japanese would have the inhabitants actually commit suicide.
Japan treated the inhabitants horribly and some compare it to a Holocaust of their
own with other numbers of war crimes. Even

clarifying the assignment, specifying the employee s range of discretion, allow the
employees to participate, inform others that delegation has occurred, and establish
proper feedback channels. In this paper, each behavior will be discussed as used in
the scenario, and will give specific detail of how we as managers would have
handled the delegation. Clarity of the assignment, is providing clear expectations of
an assignment with details, deadlines, an audience, and the importance of the
assignment being done on time. This is the first step in the delegation process of the
project. If we ask someone to complete one of our assignments, we would want to...

I remember an old saying form a manager I had who would say, inspect what you
expect! We are tasked to ensure what we empower our workforce to accomplish is
completed the way we expect it to be done. However, if we do not adequately
communicate our expectations to the employee, than how will we be able to hold
them reliable for the job. Now, am I saying we should micro manage? Never! And i
m sure no body wants to spend time micro managing. What we do want to ensure
though is task completion and work from a decentralized form of management so the
employee doesn t get frustrated in their job. Bottom line, we empower people
everyday, the question is how much do we trust them?
Allow the employee to participate. We have that found the employees participation is
the best means to empower them not only in their job, but it gives them personal
satisfaction. Now, this can be somewhat dangerous because you never want to give
them an unchecked decision machine. As the section mention, you allow the
employee to participate in that decision and then a set limit of authority is transferred
to them for the project. We know, from experience that you must maintain that
channel of communication with the employee so to keep them on the right

That Thursday night, in what felt like an empty cold room, I lay there crying,

young man, who for some reason decided that it was time to get a real job.
I woke up that hot summer day and decided that it was time I go out and apply for
some jobs. I chose to apply at my favorite restaurant, not knowing that it would be
one of the worst ideas I have ever had. I remember it took about three weeks for a
response, those three weeks felt like years waiting and waiting not hearing a thing,
until finally I got the call. I remember walking in for my interview all dressed up,
with my hair looking shinier than the paint on my car, slicked back like G Eazy.
As I walked in I was greeted by the store manager a middle aged woman with wildly
frizzy hair, her face resembling someone who just ran a 5K. Rushing me to a table
she sat down quickly, short of breath, she makes out the words Hi my name is

37. Similarities Between To Kill A Mockingbird And Persepolis
Harper Lee s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird (1953) and Marjane Satrapi s graphic
novel, Persepolis (2008) explore key conventions of the bildungsroman genre such as
the juxtaposing themes between personal and public worlds. These ideas are
expressed through characterisation, which is both implicitly and explicitly imposed
upon the reader. The contextual society of the 1930s depicting a racially segregated
southern America and the 1980s Tehran, enraptured in political crisis; shown
respectively in To Kill a Mockingbirdand Persepolis further accentuates the outcome
of denounced freedom. Thus, the effect of a child s first person narration and the use
of textual/graphical irony allow the audience to perceive societal issues such as
intolerance, oppression and violence through a wider scope.
The effect of a child s narration, which is unique to both Persepolis and To Kill a
Mockingbird, enables the protagonists, Marjane and Scout, to explicitly relay the
antagonism between the values and beliefs both the external and internal
communities. Persepolis portrays a war torn country of which public demonstrations
are common. Nonetheless, Marjane perceives rebellion as a means of obligation
rather than risk, To demonstrate on the street! I am sick and tired of doing it in the
garden! Through the perspective of a child, the audience is able to observe the
development of Marjane s character through her gradual understanding of war and
its effect on those around her. This is evident through her initial assumption of war
when her father refused to fight against the Iraqis, It s the pits! My dad is a
defeatist. He s no patriot, to the climax of her maturity, I was all wrong about Dad.
He loved his country as much as I did. Therefore, the characterisation of Marjane
brings focus unto the discrepancy between the forefront of society and the supposed
free atmosphere of family.
Correspondingly, in Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird, in spite of designated gender roles
that were imposed, the outcome of Scout s similar naivety exhibits the
incompatibility of unanimous belief and divided class structures. The
characterisation of Mr. Cunningham invokes this concept as Scout introduces his
character, My special knowledge of the

window of tolerance model of the effects of complex emotional trauma. Journal of
Psychopharmacology, 25(1), 17 25. doi:10.1177/0269881109354930 This article
begins the topic of ANS dysregulation by introducing the psychophysiology of a
traumatic experience. Normally, when an individual experiences trauma, the ANS is
stimulated leading to the Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS) being hyper aroused
and the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS) being hypo aroused in addition to the
fight or flight response. Sometimes, post traumatic experience, the ANS continues to
be sensitive. This leads to cognitive, physical, and emotional symptoms,
overreactivity of the stress response, and negative thoughts that intensify everything.
Consequently, recovery from this emotional and physiological arousal is difficult as
this arousal becomes overwhelming to the individual. In addition, the SNS and PNS
swap roles. The SNS and fight or flight response is triggered during non threatening
situations and the PNS becomes non responsive during threatening situations. The
authors suggest that the pharmacology of the Window of Tolerance (a model of
autonomic arousal) be used to change drug treatments for the better through aiding in
emotional regulation. This article contributes to my research questions by elaborating
on the idea of ANS dysregulation, how it affects an individual and
41. Metaphysics And The Philosophical Branch Of Reality
In the field of philosophy there are many branches which have their own individual
philosophy of their own. But, within those branches there are smaller branches.
The branches that I am referring to are ; Epistemology, Metaphysics, Philosophy of
Science, Philosophy of Meaning, the problem of free will, and social and political
philosophy. From all these topics, Metaphysics is the most interesting.
Metaphysics is the study of reality. Metaphysic focuses on the question, what
explains the source of reality? In the philosophical branch of Metaphysics come
smaller branches. Four of these smaller branches are; Dualism, Materialism also
known as Physicalism, and Pantheism. Materialism is, the view that matter is the
ultimate constituent of reality (Velasquez 148). In other words Materialism says
that only material things are real. Nothing else exists but matter; there is no
spiritual aspect in life. The only thing that matters are things we can see and feel.
Charvaka philosophers that believed in Materialism argued that, Because all we
know is what we can perceive with our senses, and because whatever we perceive
with our senses is physical and material, it follows that all we can know is the
material of physical world around us (Velasquez 149). They say that if we cannot
see it or we do not know that it exists then it must be wrong. If we cannot physically
use our senses to acknowledge it then things like souls, gods, or other spiritual
realities can t be real.
42. Global Illlumination Despite Self-Illumination Analysis
Global Illumination Though Self illumination.
For some education is a foregone conclusion, particularly those who are wealthy and
have means to attend an institution of higher learning. Education is not the sole
purview of the wealthy while having means provides a lower bar for entry, lack of
means does not prevent one from enlightening the self. Such is the case for both
Frederick Douglas and Malcolm X, two men who enlightened themselves without
access to the wealth that tethers education to those of the upper class. Hard work and
determination can win the day and bestow a freedom that only an advanced
education offers. These two men are shining examples of what can be accomplished
when someone refuses to be denied an education. This story tells about, Malcolm X
and Fredrick Douglas, and how they found themselves trapped, uninformed, and rose
above their demographics.
Malcolm X was an African American convict who educated himself during his
prison sentence. He focused on the study of the civil rights of African Americans.

The point of a SWOT analysis is to help you develop a strong business strategy by
making sure you ve considered all of your business s strengths and weaknesses, as
well as the opportunities and threats it faces in the marketplace. As you might have
guessed from that last sentence, S.W.O.T. is an acronym that stands for Strengths,
Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. A SWOT analysis is an organized list of
your business s greatest strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Strengths
and weaknesses are internal to the company, like reputation, patents, location. You
can change them but with some work to be done. Opportunities and threats are

Virtually all of Nike s footwear is manufactured outside of the United States by
independent contract manufacturers who operate multiple factories. Nike is
strong at research and development, as is evidenced by its evolving and innovative
product range. The company has its own staff of specialists in the areas of
biomechanics, chemistry, exercise physiology, and related fields, and also uses
advisory boards made up of athletes, coaches, trainers, orthopedists, and other
experts who consult with Nike about designs, materials, and concepts for products
and improvements. The strength of Nike is with a strong cash flow. The company
generates a lot of free cash flow, a good portion of which it uses to enhance
shareholder value. Apart from a modest dividend payout (the Dow component
typically yields between 1% and 1.5%), cash is used to fund an aggressive
buyback program. In fact, stock repurchases typically approximate $2 billion

Smoking is illegal on public transport and in the following public places: healthcare

places and in workplaces, designated smoking areas must be provided. With respect
to outdoor places, children s playgrounds must be smoke free. The realization of

45. Spanish Bullfighting Research Paper
If you are traveling, particularly in Spain s southern region of Andalusia, there are
few places that you can t find a bullring within a short drive. The Spaniards have
long been fascinated with the contest between the brave matador and the mad beast.
Every week during bullfighting season that lasts from March to October, thousands
of Spaniards watch a corrida de toros, bullfight. In fact, the first bullfight is traced
back to 711 A.D. when the sport was viewed in honor of the crowning of King
Alfonso VIII. At that time, nobles on horseback participated in the sport. However,
all of that was changed when King Felipe V ended this trend because he didn t think
it was right for men of such nobility to take part in violent contests. After that, the
commoners took it over as their game. Since they didn t have horses, they changed
the game from horseback to foot. There has been some return to riding on horseback
in bullfighting, but primarily the participants are on foot. While there has been and
continues to be some limited opposition to bullfighting, it has found its place as an
important part of Spanish history and culture. In fact, bullfighting in Spainis as
widespread as baseball in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After a parade, the bull enters the ring and the matador tests the bull with capes
and banderilleros. Through the use of a series of passes with capes, the matador
learns a great deal about how the bull will charge and also his level of fierceness.
Next, the matador uses the banderilleros, which are harpoon pointed colorful sticks
that he jabs into the bull s back. Then two picadores who are bullfighters on
horseback enter the ring armed with a vara. The horses the picadores ride are
heavily padded and blindfolded. The vara used by the picadores is a long lance that
is used to attack the muscle on the bull s neck. In this phase, with the blood loss, the
bull s charge is lessoned and his actions become more

What makes us tick? The question intrigues me because of the power its answer
holds. On the individual level, the things which we enjoy seem personal and
specific. We proudly pursue our passions publicly in follows on Instagram, retweets

as individuals and our ideals within a culture. Although we interpret passions as
unique things to be celebrated, in reality, these interests often reflect common cultural

48. Theme Of The Love Song Of J Alfred Prufrock
The dramatic monologue, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock , is a short poem
written by the Nobel Prize winner, and scholar T.S. Eliot. He wrote this poem and
published it in the Poetry Magazine in 1915, while he was still in college at
Washington University in St. Louis. Eliot is one of the most important English
language writers of the 20th century, and he lived in St Louis at an early age being
raised by his mother. His mother was both loving and manipulative, and from that a
lonely and strict adolescence, came a man with an immense desire to be
independent (Gladstein). Eliot s poem is about a man by the name J. Alfred

Bradley. Bradley examination was on Private Consciousness and this became a
theme of Eliot s later works (Puchner 2119). The most relevant characteristic that
both Eliot and Prufrock share is private consciousness. Private consciousness
means to have a heightened sense of awareness as a person, and to care about what
others think of the actions that you take. Prufrock speaks tells the readers about
this matter a few times. Prufrock is very self conscious about himself and seems to
care mostly about how he looks and what others think when they look at him: With
a bald spot in the middle of my hair (The will say: How his hair is growing thin! );
(They will say: But how his arms and legs are thin! ); Do I dare Disturb the
Universe? (Eliot 2124). The narrator, Prufrock, is really worried about what the
people around him think. More importantly, he is also very curious and nervous
about how his lover will respond to the feelings that he has for either him or her.
Near the end of the work, Prufrock goes on to tell readers about how he is getting
older which also compliments the idea of private consciousness I grow old ... I
grow old... I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled. (Elliot 2126). Eliot heavily
portrayed this theme to be distinctly private consciousness, because of the importance
and emphasis on how Prufrock really is nervous and worried about what others think
of him and that really affects the story theme as a whole. During

She detested the Latino machismo and openly embraced her sexuality, something
traditionally looked down upon in her Dominican culture, and she had no problem
arguing with her father while he still clung to his culture. However, Sofia never
seemed to mind the aesthetic roots of her culture, fully embracing the style when
she was exiled to the Dominican Republic or as their mother said, she was
beautifully acclimated to life on the Island (p. 117) and her sisters forced her
independent spirit back, when she fell for her illegitimate cousin, a man
overflowing with machismo. But once out, she became fiercely independent and
even feminist. In fact, when her father doted on her son but not her daughter, she
found that his macho babytalk [sic] brought back Sofia s old antagonism towards
her father (p. 27) because Sofia was the one with non stop boyfriends (p. 28), and
their bickering caused her father and her to have a falling out. Nothing fixed that
until she named her son Carlos, after her father a way that she connected her old,
Dominican roots to her new, American identity. For Sofia, becoming American was
never a big issue, and she didn t have as much culture or even memories of her
homeland to hang onto, which was why she often clashed with her father because her
American ideals made it difficult for her to see from her parents

One of the major reasons for this is the decrease of the technicians guarantee rate

rate even higher. The problem with the PPP rate is that not all technicians will get

The advantages of shifting from wage rates to piece rate pay is piece rate pay is more
preferred in customer service jobs, like in the case of Safelite Auto glass the more
the number of customers the more beneficial it is for the employees as well as the
company. The first advantage is that it motivates even the weakest technician to
work hard as the more work they do the more salary they get. It s a good
opportunity for a technician to complete more jobs than the average number of
jobs a day which helps them to earn more than the hourly based pay rates. The
second advantage is it is more cost effective as the company is paying only for the
number of jobs done by the technician whereas you have to pay evenly for all
technicians regardless of their efforts if it was an hourly wage pay. Next
advantage is it is easy to identify the good and the bad technicians by this piece per
rate pay based on the number of jobs each technician does on an average day, by
this the company can eliminate the workers who do not perform good and can also
provide incentives and more recognition for good performing technicians which
would further more motivate the technicians and increase the productivity of the
company. This piece rate pay is a WIN WIN situation for the company as more
productive the employees are more money the
57. Impact Of The Silk Road Indian Ocean Trade And Trans...
The Silk Road, Indian Ocean Trade and Trans Saharan Trade Networks were all
routes/networks of trade throughout the eastern hemisphere. People would travel
these routes so that they could trade for things that they wanted from other areas.
Here, people were able to trade for commodities and raw materials, but also be able
to learn about new things such as religion and education. Culture and economy
allowed for tradeto expand in the Silk Road, Indian Ocean and Trans Saharan Trade
Networks and it brought people from different lands together, expanded their
knowledge, and affected their governments through its views. First, the economy
brought Eurasian civilizations together through the trading routes. When traveling
through the Middle East, Africa and Asia, Moroccan explorer Ibn Battutastates that
Some of the Chinese own large numbers of ships that they send to foreign countries.
There are no people in the world wealthier than the Chinese. (Ibn Battuta, and H. A.
R. Gibbs.). China was a very wealthy civilizationin this time and their trade with
other lands allowed them to form relations with the lands that they traded with.
Other countries would want to trade with China due to its known wealth. In
Traveling Salesmen, Traveling Taxmen , Kenneth Pomeranz and Steven Topik
describe the Indian Ocean trade and state that since India was probably the world s
largest exporter from 1500 1700, the horse trade was a crucial link in world trade.
(Kenneth Pomeranz and Steven Topik). Most of the horses being traded were
coming from India, which means that many merchants wanted to go to India so that
they could get valuable horses. At this time, horses were very valuable because it
was a way of transportation, so some people wanted to buy them. This brought people
together by bringing them to one area to exchange commodities and it allowed access
for a way of transportation to be able to trade in the future. The Department and the
king of Ancient Ghana states that In the eighth and ninth centuries, Arab merchants
operating in southern Moroccan towns such as Sijilmasa bought gold from the
Berbers, and financed more caravans. ( Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. ).
