Ford Motor Company Marketing Strategy Essay
Ford Motor Company Marketing Strategy
Ford Motor Company is one of the world s largest producers of cars and trucks and one of the largest
providers of automotive financial services marketing vehicles under the eight brands shown below.
The Company is a publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. During 2002, the
company made 6.7 million vehicles and employed 328,000 people worldwide. Business partners
include 25,000 dealers and more than 10,000 suppliers.
Ford motor company offers a wealth of variety to the automotive consumer. As they start their second
century of business, they are now in a position to appeal to the widest range of potential customers.

Now all car companies work very hard to find out what people really want from cars, and they try to
build cars to fit the preferences. Market research uses all the same empirical tools as experimental
psychology, but with larger research budgets, better defined questions, more representative samples of
people, and more impact. Ideally, marketing s empiricism works like Rogerian psychotherapy: it holds
up a mirror to ourselves, reflecting our beliefs and desires so we can recognize, remember, evaluate,
and transform them.
Ford Motor Company is undergoing a transformation that is putting their customers at the center of
everything they do. Their vision is to be the world s leading consumer company for automotive
products and services. That requires a much different headset than that of a traditional automobile
manufacturer one that concentrates intensely on the people who buy and use their products.
Obviously, they had had a pretty good idea of what their customers wanted in the past, or we wouldn t
be approaching our 100th anniversary.
For nearly a century, Ford Motor Company has worked to improve people s lives and be a responsible
and valuable member of the community. In recent years, they have expanded and accelerated their
corporate citizenship efforts, and worked to integrate them into their overall business strategy.
But today s customer and today s competition requires a deeper level of understanding. Traditional
market research is fine,

Deoding Neanderthals Summary
Anthropology: Neanderthals Film Review
Throughout the documentary Decoding Neanderthals there was a push of research to push the human
view of Neanderthals. Over the year s research showed that we coexisted with Neanderthals and out
beat their species. Many believed that Neanderthals where like the stereotypical unintelligent and wild
caveman. With new technology, enhanced research, and the exposing documentary Decoding
Neanderthals pushed the boundaries of these past ideologies. Through this we have learned how
intelligent, symbolic, and closely related this species is to homo sapiens species. This research proved
that the Neanderthal may have not became extent due to in ability to create weapons but, due to inter

Flex Crew Essay
In a large city, full of diverse people, finding a musical performance is not hard to come by. Luckily,
as I was searching online for different performances I ran across The Flex Crew performing at Skully
s music diner. I have been to Skully s once before to watch a folk band perform. The atmosphere was a
lot different than when we saw The Flex Crew. Obviously, the genre of music was a lot different,
along with the atmosphere of the crowd. I was very surprised by the number of people in the bar that
evening. Mostly, because the performance started at 11PM and the world series was on. On top of this,
online their website said the show began at 10PM, but like a very great band they came out at their
own pace. In the meantime, there was a DJ performing to keep the crowd alive. The Flex Crew is a
reggae band from the Columbus area. After doing a little research I learned they are known as the best
reggae band in the Midwest.
A friend and I went to Skully s Music Diner on Sunday night to watch The Flex Crew. Their band
consisted of seven members, and they all varied on the different type of instruments. Some were
strictly on vocals, while others were on guitars, drums, pianos, etc. On top of this, the band was very
diverse in regards to their playing and singing. Yes, there was a main guitarist and a main singer, but
throughout the songs they all grabbed different instruments and sang different pieces of the songs. I
also learned they originated from Columbus and have been

The Investigation Middle Miocene Rocks Of Siwa Oasis...
VI.2 Paleoecology and paleoenvironment: The investigated Middle Miocene rocks of Siwa Oasis
contain a rich macroinvertebrate fauna. A total of 1,618 sample were collected, dominated by oysters
(58.03%), pectinids (12.54%), echinoids (5.68%), bivalves (14.77%), and gastropods (8.96%) (Fig.
39). Instead of their great abundance they surprisingly show a low diversity, and they are randomly
distributed all over the successions (Figs.12, 13, 15, 17). But it is noticeable that the Oasis and
Escarpment Member are more favorable for oysters and pectinids, while El Diffa Plateau Member was
dominated by gastropods (Fig. 12). In order to understand the paleoecology and paleoenvironment of
the Middle Miocene time of Siwa Oasis a detailed investigation of the abovementioned faunal groups
will be discussed.
VI.2.1 Oysters They are the most dominant element of the benthic community in the Miocene of
Egypt. Until now, oysters from the study area were only mentioned in passing by a few authors (Gindy
et al., 1969; El Shazly and Abdel Hamid, 2001). Like their modern representatives, oysters cement
themselves onto the substrate by their left valves. Most cementing bivalves are found in shallow water
environments having depths of less than 35 m (Kauffmann, 1969). Modern oysters are typically
founded in estuaries, bays, and tidal creeks from brackish water (5 parts per thousand [ppt] salinity) to
normal marine water (35 ppt salinity) (Loosanoff, 1965). They are very tolerant organisms, able

How Important Was The Reform Movement In The 19th Century
The conditions in our country have changed for the better since our founding. However this change
did not happen naturally, people had to stand up to make change happen. That is what happened in the
nineteenth century, conditions were bad so the people stood up and made change happen. The reform
movements of the nineteenth century where very important to the improvement of society because of
the education reform, women s rights, and abolition movements.
The education reform movements was very important to the improvement of society because it greatly
improved school curriculum, made a more skilled labor force, and educated more kids. This

important event for the women s rights movement was the seneca fall convention which declared that
all men and women were created equal. (Creating america textbook) The movement did not
immediately succeed in granting women the right to vote, but it did bring attention to the issue and
that eventually gave women the right to vote... eventually. Unlike the right to vote the other rights
were addressed rather quickly which granted women all across the us (the free ones a the least) the
right to own property, the right to maker her own money and have a job, and the protection under law
that she can not be beaten by her husband. (creating america textbook) Lastly the movement granted
women a bigger role in that day and age they had, jobs, they had money, they had property, and lastly

Summary Of Steven Pinker And The Language Of Instinct

Language and Learning
Individual paper: Steven Pinker and The Language of Instinct
Language is not a cultural artifact that we learn the way we learn to tell time or how the federal
government works. Instead, it is a distinct piece of the biological makeup of our brains. Language is a
complex, specialized skill, which develops in the child spontaneously, without conscious effort or
formal instruction, is deployed without awareness of its underlying logic, is qualitatively the same in
every individual, and is distinct from more general abilities to process information or behave
intelligently. For these reasons, some cognitive scientists have described language as a psychological
faculty, a mental organ, a neural system, and a computational module. But I prefer the admittedly
quaint term instinct (4 5). In the book, The Language ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pinker describes language as a human instinct and discusses the evolution of language. Pinker, a
psychology professor at Harvard University, provides a thorough description of research he has done
with children and animals to prove how language is created, how it develops throughout life, and how
it came to be in the first place. Much of Pinker s book discusses developments made by Noam
Chomsky, an American linguist, and reproduces these developments in a more clear and
understandable form. Within The Language Instinct, Pinker discusses many complicated topics like
the idea of universal grammar, the separation between language and thought, the difference between
oral language and written language and the evolution of language as well as

Analysis of This Is What It Means to Say Phoenix,...
In Sherman Alexie s This is what it means to say Phoenix, Arizona a man named Victor finds out that
his father has passed away. Being next of kin, Victor is responsible for gathering his father s assets
together, which requires him to make an out of town trip. In order to accomplish this Victor needs
help. This help comes from the town outcast, Thomas Builds the Fire. Victor and Thomas were
childhood best friends but as they grew older, Victor turned his back on the one that always looked out
for him. A trip to gather his father s remains turns into a journey of reviewing his life and choices.
Shortly after losing his job with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Victor is informed of his father s death.

Thomas approaches Victor and offers his condolences. He tells Victor that he has money to lend him
so he can make it to Phoenix. The only condition is that Victor must take Thomas with him. Victor
tells Thomas that he can t accept his money and that they aren t even friends. Thomas replies I didn t
say we were friends. I said you had to take me with you. (249). Victor says he ll think about it and
goes home. When he arrives home, he is flooded with memories. After heavy consideration, Victor
knows the only way he ll be able to claim his father s remains is to borrow the money from Thomas.
He agrees to take Thomas along for the trip and the two men catch a plane to Phoenix, Arizona.
Throughout the story Victor replays moments in his mind. Times when he and Thomas were best of
friends. Times when he loved listening to Thomas visions about life and stories with hidden lessons.
Times when Thomas was there for him and even a time when Thomas helped to save his life. The
good memories turn to visions of Victor turning his back on his best friend. Victor is faced with the
reality of his cruel actions and choices. Of how he chose to go with the rest of the pack and attack the
weak one. Victor recalls being drunk when he was fifteen and beating up Thomas for the fun of it.

Ethanol Pollution
W. Patzek 2005, 324). When those chemicals are released in ethanol fumes they are released in the air
and are inhaled by people around the cars. The New York Department of health (NYDH) reports that,
ammonia is irritating and corrosive. Exposure to high concentrations of ammonia in air causes
immediate burning of the nose, throat and respiratory tract (NYHD 2005). The use of fertilizers in
corn production makes ethanol even worse than gasoline. Patzek states, the air is more polluted with
the use of ethanol, and more health hazards are introduced with agricultural chemicals, fertilizers,
pesticides and herbicides, and by the waste water streams (Tad W. Patzek
2005, 325). Ethanol is not a clean fuel, and it is causing more pollution than gasoline does.
Ethanol strains corn consumption, because corn is so important that it is used for so many different
things. Animal feed is mostly made of corn and corn silage. Ethanol causes shortages in other crops
like corn and cotton. On top of that, ethanol is not only not a good fuel, but it isn t a clean soil, adding
health risks by releasing toxic chemical fumes. With all those factors ethanol should not be used or
even produced.
The Solution
Ethanol production numbers continue to rise and it is causing a problem. The solution to this problem
is to stop producing ethanol. Without the production of ethanol corn would not be wasted. Corn is a
very important food resource for humans and animals alike.
Ethanol is harming the amount of

Ghost are Real Essay
Ghost are Real Ghosts, as with any other misunderstood group or people, have been preyed upon by
others without understanding. The lack of knowledge about ghosts and haunting activity has led
people astray as to what they really are. What Hollywood and television portrays is very inaccurate
and cannot be relied upon as truthful. They show these spirits of the dead as being evil in nature, filled
with malice and harmful intent. But that this is not the case. The field of paranormal activity is
amazing. It has caught the imagination of people from every walk of life. It has always interested me
and has influenced me to pick this as the topic for my research. Through this research I wish to
uncover the truth about the existence of ghosts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a sense our essence will not change. Just as there are disagreeable people we meet in life, there will
be disagreeable Spirits we will encounter. Some people believe all ghosts to be evil. This is not so.
Just because a person does, not for whatever reason, go on after death does not make them evil or
mean they are here to do harm. In theory, ghosts are the remnants of what was once a human being.
Someone, who at one time, had substance on this earth. They are everything that we, as living
creatures, are but without the vehicle we call the human body. They exhibit all the mental attributes
that you and I have such as thought, conscience, emotions and emotional needs, morals, calculation,
ego, personality and everything that makes up the human psyche. Acknowledging the existence of
ghosts or spirits leads one to ask why they are here. Here are several answers. One reason is that the
spirit does not realize, or refuses to believe, that it has died. This can often be the case, but not always.
If one suffers a sudden or unexpected death, in disbelief, they may not pass on to whatever
destination. Denial or unawareness may be the key to someone remaining behind. They will continue
to go about their daily lives as though nothing happened. There are documented cases of this instance.
Take for example; a mother dies unexpectedly, obviously she d want to be home with her family.
Soon, the family begins to notice strange

Salt Marshes And Salt Marshes
Apparently, marshes are often imagined incorrectly. To some people, they might confuse a marsh to a
swamp or to a wetland. Although relative, marshes are only a kind of wetland, which is land where the
water level is close to the soil surface or covers the surface for at least part of the year. Marshes,
specifically salt marshes, are lush, intertidal grasslands renowned for their productivity (Silliman
2014). Simply, a salt marsh is a coastal ecosystem of grasses characterized by poorly drained mineral
soils due to regular flooding of salt water brought in by ocean tides. Since salt marshes serve as
estuaries between the land and ocean, people do not realize an important role they play in protection;
these coastal marshes are presumed to protect human communities from coastal hazards, such as
storms and hurricanes, by providing important ecosystem services. One very important ecosystem
service is their role as a buffer in protecting coastlines (Shepard et al. 2011). As humans fail to
appreciate and protect these marshes, their continuous impacts on coastal infrastructure would not
only negatively impact humans but to the life on the salt marshes as well. Salt marshes are found in
the temporal zone on protected shorelines throughout the world and are stressful environments due to
their intertidal behaviors. As a result, plants and animals living in salt marshes must have adaptations
to deal with the harsh physical stressors, ranging from high salt concentrations, intense heat, and low
oxygen in waterlogged soils (Sulliman 2014). Nevertheless, there is a positive trade off: although
plants and animals have to overcome these physical obstacles, they get access to abundant resources,
protection from predators, and a high potential for both them and their offspring in return. An example
of this trade off is investigated with a fish, a mummichog Fundulus heteroclitus, a resident of intertidal
salt marshes on the east coast of North America. The study suggests that mummichogs have the ability
to alter their habitat use accordingly to environmental factors, such as heat stress and oxygen
depletion, to create a predation refuge habitat, which would then allow high growth rates (Halpin
2000). Due to the stressful

Life is Harder for Boys in Donna LaFramboise s Essay, Roll...
Roll Back The Red Carpet for Boys 1. The allusion of the red carpet refers to the red carpet treatment
that is given to hosts of considerable status. Nowadays, red carpets are literally rolled out for functions
with celebrities and movie stars alike. 2. In her essay, LaFramboise delivers a powerful and thought
provoking message about the untrue belief that society has lead us to believe. That is, that males have
an easier red carpet, like experience in life. 3. When LaFramboise writes, Girls are victims of
circumstance and boys are masters of their own fate. Girls are moulded and manipulated by the social
pressures; boys make conscious choices. Girls get to blame everyone but themselves; everyone gets to
blame boys. Wasn t feminism supposed to be about abolishing double standards? She is connoting at
the clear double standards that have been placed on males. Stating that girls are not held responsible
for their own decisions and faults, rather an external source of control is to blame. However, males are
solely responsible for their own flaws. 4. a) An example of statistics is the statement Between the ages
of 15 and 24, they take their lives five times as often. b) As adults, males are more likely to be
homeless...twice as likely to be robbed or murdered, nine times more likely to be killed in an

Analysis Of Jonathan Swift s Gulliver s Travels
Jonathan Swift was a writer known for his use of satire: the application of humor, irony, exaggeration,
and ridicule to expose and criticize. At a glance, the novel seems to be a travel log of Lemuel Gulliver
s adventures, but is primarily a work of satire. Through Gulliver s Travels, Swift strives to satirize the
eighteenth century humanity. Swift was titled a misanthrope, a hater of humanity, his misanthropy rose
from his disappointment in mankind. Swift utilizes Gulliver in satirizing the population, which he was
disappointed with, in each voyage of the novel. The satire used in Gulliver s Travels is used to reveal
how Swift regarded mankind, as societies who did not exist to their utmost potential to be great but
were instead exhibiting the frills of greatness.
Swift was recognized as a man of intelligence and used his intellect to display the anarchy, corruption,
and confusion of the eighteenth century England. He saw the idiocy and the vices behind the façade of
reason and common sense. His intelligence was capable to of identifying evil in all its forms and areas
of presence and he could not endure the lack of reason in any aspect of human existence. His being of
displeased with the ways of people, Swift felt accountable to try to reform it. Corruption in religion
was vigorously criticized along with the impractical use of scientific knowledge in his works. Swift
felt that man could never achieve perfection. He frequently used a mask in his writing, hiding behind

Summary of The Embalming of Mr. Jones Essay

Summary of The Embalming of Mr. Jones
In the essay The Embalming of Mr. Jones, (1963), Jessica Mitford is describing a procedure of
embalming of a corpse. She writes that people pay a ton of money each year, but not one in ten
thousand has any idea of what actually takes place, and it is extremely hard to find books and any
information about this subject. She assumes that it must be a reason for such secrecy, and may be if
people knew more about this procedure, they would not want this service after their death.
Mitford writes that embalming has long tradition in America, but it used to be performed at home, and
all members of the family had to witness the procedure. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When this done, the corpse s face is heavily creamed to protect from chemical burns from leakage that
can happen, a body is covered and left for eight to ten hours to dry.
The next procedure involves cleaning and cosmetic restoration of the corpse. Before starting
restoration, the body is washed, shaved, and hair is shampooed. If the body has missing limbs, they
are replaced with molds of plaster. If the head is off, its edges are trimmed and it is sewn to the torso.
After cleaning and patching procedures, taking care of swollen parts of the face, the body is dressed,
and the mortician makes last touches. He covers the corpse s skin with pleasantly colored make up,
combs hair, and manicures the hands.
The body is now ready for casketing. Like in any business, there are some special secrets to casketing.
According to Mitford, the right shoulder of the body has to be depressed slightly to turn the body a bit
to the right and soften the appearance of lying flat on the back. Positioning the hands and feet is as
important as everything that was done before. There are special rubber blocks that are used for this
purpose. Finally, the body is placed in the casket as high as possible, and the mortician gives attention
to the last details.
Now the body is ready for exposition and moved into a slumber room. The last touch can be done
there; the favorite

Environmental Inequality In The 1970 s
Introduction The atmosphere of the 1950s to 1970s can be described as a time of intense turmoil in
American history. In the 1960s there was a change in the way people viewed the environment and
what as a nation they were doing to destroy it. Women again rose up to combat oppression inequality
during the 1960s, as they have done in the past before. The Civil Rights came with a powerful force of
change for the minorities of the United States and paved the way for other Movement to arise. In the
trying times of the chaotic 1950 s to 1970s three of the most influential movements of their time
emerged, the Environmental Movement, Women s Movement, and the Civil Rights movement, all
would go onto changing the American way of life.
Environmental Movement Just like the bald eagle the American way of life in the 1960s was killing
America and the animal in the environment. Chemical sprayed in the air to ward off bugs like DDT
was contaminating the water supply, killing the fish and harming the animals who drank from it. So in
the mid 60s Congress passed a law prohibiting the use of DDT in the United States. As news of
America s environmental arose the public began to organise small environment movements which

women to be empowered to live their own life. They passed anti discrimination bills in congress to

After I moved to Australia at the hindsight of this year, I happened to make an argument to myself in
regard to the state of the Australia Film Industry. However, over the course of the year, being
established here with my studies, analyzing the employment market and meeting professionals from
the industry, it is conclusive that the Australian Film Industry is indeed facing a severe crisis from the
past two decades.
One can easily pick the selectively handful films that have proved to be excellent in the Australian
cinemas. Additionally, there is a wide segment of the Australian audience that is unaware of numerous
Australian releases from the time. I have tended to wonder why it has been 20 years ... Show more

There are major cultural and attitudinal differences within our major cities and also across the country.
No place in Australia is truly its representative. Which means that the things that are identifiably
Australian are quite limited. Dr. John s in his lectures highlighted the cultural differences quite a bit
and I completely agree with his views. The main themes that resonated in the past have in some ways
been discredited and with others yet to take their place. To a large extent the cultural language has
been lost. The consequences of internationalism and globalisation have separated the Australian
population from the national cinema market. This disturbance has provoked a change in the nature of
government funding, dominant film institutions and Australian audiences. These changes mean that
the Australian national cinema must reassess funding policies and the new sphere of public influence

With the advancement of the time, the companies are taking the step with information system as in the
previous time; the organisation does not work with the manual database. This information system
helps the company in keeping the information related to the company. In this study, database
management system has been taken, which plays a critical role in managing the information of the
company. This information system has multiple advantages as it provides clear indication about
centralised information system that keeps all types of sources. This information system helps the
organisation to access the data anytime. This information system also assists the organisation in
solving the data related issues and data redundancy.
In this study, Churchill Car Insurance Company has been chosen as this company requires the
database management system to store the data. This information system may have benefits; however,
maintenance cost leads to the cost increase. This process is not also easy as this can lead to creating
issue in revenue generation in short scale. Moreover, this information system can provide a
competitive edge to the company.

Definition Essay On Underdogs
At first I didn t quit understand the meaning of an underdog . Without reading and asking for the
definition I really believed that this word was a term use to define some kind of a bad day at work
(dog s day). After reading the definition on Wikipedia I truly understood that I was wrong.
An underdog, as defined by Wikipedia is : a person or group in a competition, usually in sports and
creative works, who is popularly expected to lose. The party, team, or individual expected to win is
called the favorite or top dog. In the case where an underdog wins, the outcome is anupset. An
underdog bet is a bet on the underdog or outsider for which the odds are generally higher.

Jason, with a mental disability overcame the odds by showing that being different as not an illness.
With less experience than Seabiscuits and Red, Jason showed his teammate that he could play
basketball has well as all of them. Being an assistant manager who had never played a game during
the year, he was introduced at the last few minutes of the last game and became a hero at that moment
but he showed everybody that he could play by scoring more points than everybody during the whole
game.
He was an underdog because no one believed he could play basketball and he proved everybody
wrong. He believed in himself and lived the present moment.
I ve never really seen myself as an underdog but being the only girl in a family of four kids I think it
makes me one. Since I have three brothers, we often do boys activities. They are very competitive and
often thinks that I can t be better then them. But a lot of times I win because I m stronger then they are
and I also have to prove them that I can play with them. So, like Seabicuits, Red and Jason, I m not
suppose to win against my brothers but more often then not I do...so I m an underdog and very proud
of it.
In conclusion I truly believe that there is an underdog in every one of us, you just have to believe in
yourself and you will find a way to impress and surpass

Mike Trout In Major League Baseball
Major League Baseball has customarily shunned the idea of too much focus on individual player
limelight. America s pastime has prided itself on being the penultimate team sport.
There has been a burgeoning conversation over which player might warrant the moniker as the face of
Major League Baseball. The debate whirls around in circles, with as many as two dozen names
receiving mention. However, these three players surface on every list as the worthy face of the game.
Mike Trout
There isn t a top 100 list posted, which doesn t have the name Mike Trout on it. Trout is either the top

The Vision Of Empire Held By Wilberforce And The Clapham Sect
Analyse the vision of Empire held by Wilberforce and the Clapham Sect.
During Wilberforce s lifetime the British Empire expanded and proceed to be the dominant force in
the world as an economic, military and political power. At its height it was the largest empire in
history and for over a century was the world s foremost power. A power such as this had a
considerable bearing on the people which habituated and worked to serve the power behind it as both
MPs and people of significant social standing amongst its population as the elite. Therefore this essay
will evaluate the vision of the Empire held Wilberforce and his contemporaries in the Clapham Sect.
The Clapham Sect was a group of Evangelical Christians who resided near Clapham and formed a
strong community amongst one another. The group was ardently committed to Practical Christianity
and abolishing slavery. This is summarised succinctly by Together, this Clapham fellowship sought to
make the British Empire an instrument of social and moral welfare to all people. This commonly held
view shows that the Clapham Sect knew the magnitude and the significance the British Empire held
and could use this as a platform to project their christian ideals onto people who in their eyes were
worse off for not conforming to these ideals. The Empire was seen as something that could enlighten
through Christianity, however it brought violence through Slavery, the biggest demon in the eyes of
the Clapham Sect therefore it is of

Wise Blood Imagery
Animal imagery is prominent in Wise Blood, primarily to show the contrast between the pursuance of
spirituality and embracement of animal urges. While humans are portrayed in the novel as being
animalistic, animals in the novel are typically personified and portrayed in an anthropomorphic
manner. The fact that animals act like humans and vice versa shows that O Connor is trying to make a
point on the true distinction between animal and human, as well as what the implications of being
human means. As animals are locked up physically in cages, some characters are figuratively locked

Pros And Cons Of The Moon Landing
Asid from Aliens and Ufos being kept at Area 51, another popular conspiracy theory is the 1969 moon
landing was staged at Area 51. A scenario by a conspiracy writer states that NASA knew that at the
time it would be impossible to send astronauts to the moon because of the risk of lethal radiation. The
moon landing had to be faked to avoid embarrassment and ensure future funding for NASA. On the
day of the rocket launch, they staged an actual rocket launch but no one was inside. The Apollo crew
was transferred to Area 51 where there was a movie stage set up to record the fake landing. Neil
Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin then acted out the lunar landing and NASA transmitted out to the millions
of viewers. Technology was available at the time to create a movie set that looked like the moon and

her screen while watching the live broadcast of the moon landing proving that it was filmed at Area

Kennedy s 1961 goal of landing a man on the moon before 1970.Coincidentally they walked on the
moon in 1969 one year before the deadline Kennedy had set. The moon landing would also be a great
distraction from the unpopular vietnam war and keep the American public`s focus on something more
positive. Another reason for the faked moon landing was to beat the Soviet`s in the space race. The

The Collegiate Athletic Association Of College Athletics
The NCAA continues to prohibit payment to its student athletes, while its member universities
continue to seek new ways to increase revenue from the athlete s accomplishments. The National
Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is the nonprofit governing body of college athletics. The
primary task of the NCAA is to oversee the actions of all student athletes and universities to verify
that both parties abide by the rules and regulations within the principles of amateurism, defined by the
Association. However, the NCAA has been ruthlessly exploiting the athlete s talents in the hopes of
maximizing profits. The NCAA and its member universities carry little concern regarding the success
of student athletes, currently; their priorities have become profit oriented. In the rapidly growing
industry of College Athletics, a one sided business relationship has evolved between colleges and
student athletes. Former University of Connecticut basketball standout Shabazz Napier has recalled
his experience as a collegiate athlete in a statement: there have been hungry nights where I m not able
to eat, and yet I m still forced to play to the best of my abilities. After I noticed my jersey being sold I
felt like I should get something in return. [1] The aforementioned Napier has spent, on average 43.3
hours per week on sports related activities [2]. With copious amounts of time dedicated towards the
sport of basketball, he lacked the ability to seek employment at a professional job.

The Decolonization Process After The Second World War
29. The decolonization process after the Second World War resulted in the end of British hegemony in
the Indian Ocean. The subsequent Cold War which ensued was again marked by superpower rivalry in
the region, enhancing the region s global strategic value. When this period came to an end, the littoral
countries of the IOR to a certain extent rediscovered some of the economic, social and cultural facets
that made the ocean the bridge between Africa, Asia and Australia . However, regional cooperation
coordination is still a far reality which is a dire necessity for overall development in the region. In the
21st century the Indian Ocean security has evolved to be multifaceted and dynamic. The emerging
threats and challenges which are typically common to the entire region, range across a wide spectrum
with transnational maritime crimes such as piracy, illegal immigration, human trafficking, smuggling
and illegal unregulated and unreported (IUU) fishing activities at one end to the more serious
challenges of natural disasters, climate change and even interstate maritime disputes erupting into
fully fledged confrontations at the other end . The word Maritime Security deals with the prevention of
illicit activities in the maritime domain . In the previous chapter we have been acquainted with the
geostrategic and economic importance of the region which has resulted in the shift of world s interest
to this part of the maritime province.

Robber Barons Summary
In Taking Sides Howard Zinn and Andrew S. Gordon argue yes or no to believe if the 19th century
entrepreneurs Robber Baron ? The late nineteenth century is best known for its exceptional growth in
extensive business. Across the nation, little organizations were being supplanted by titan partnerships
and mechanical combinations, prompting another, uncommon level of riches for the business
visionaries who created them. With the increment in enormous business came another level of riches
that had never been seen. They likewise mercilessly separated unions and strikes and, to guarantee that
their power would not be taken from them, they paid off city, state, and national government officials
to stay great to huge organizations. The late nineteenth century prompted more political corruption
and oppression that the United States had ever found in the work environment, which is the reason
these specialists were truth be told robber barons, not the chiefs of industry they wished to depict
themselves as. Howard Zinn argues that 19th century entrepreneurs were robber barons because new

The Character Analysis Of The Film Smoke Signals
It s a good day to be indigenous! (00:04:55 00:04:56) says Randy Peone, the voice of the KREZ radio,
setting the mood for the whole film, Smoke Signals. Smoke Signals is about Native Americans,
specifically Thomas Builds The Fire, played by Evan Adams, and Victor Joseph, played by Adam
Beach, that live on the Coeur d Alene Indian Reservation. The story follows these two proud to be
Indian boys all the way through their adulthood. The audience gets to see their relationship develop
from distant friends to a brother like bond. This film is a Native American masterpiece; however, I
believe that the true magic lies in the work of Evan Adams. As soon as Thomas enters on screen, the
audience falls in love. He wears two side braids, nice suits, and a huge smile plastered across his face.
At the beginning of the film, he is a happy and curious kid that is everything but refreshing to his
friend Victor. They both have known each other their entire lives. One thing that is truly captivating
about Evan s performance is his ability to truly encapsulate his character. While watching the film, one
can really see the emotion and feeling in his eyes and in his voice. In part in particular, he says, So

How is the character of Mrs Hayward developed throughout the opening 3 chapter of Frayn s Spies ?
Mrs Hayward is a contradictory character who is established through Stephen s fragmented memory to
be both a character of smiling perfection and a broken woman, sitting in the dust weeping. She is both
the embodiment of a perfect British wartime wife and a character of suspicion; a spy, a traitor, the
epitome of deceit and the focus of two young boys overzealous imagination. When the reader is first

The antithesis of weeping and laughing highlight to the reader how Mrs Hayward is a character who
evokes feelings of both happiness and shame in Stephen, due to her respective actions and emotions.
She is a fragmented and incomplete character who is portrayed to the audience through an anaphoric
series of present tense memories, which make her actions, and consequent responses of the narrator,
seem immediate and continual. She is a character who evokes an emotional response in our narrator
almost sixty years after unknown events have occurred, suggesting to the reader that she is going to be
central to his journey down memory lane . When Mrs Hayward is next introduced to the reader it is
through elderly Stephen s third person account of what would have happened if young Stephen had
asked Keith to play at his house for the afternoon. This hypothetical pondering of the narrator occurs
after a substantial amount of description has been dedicated to Keith s home, room and father,
suggesting to the reader that these male characters were the main objects of focus for young Stephen,
Keith because he idolised his friend and his father because Stephen clearly feared him. Mrs Hayward
then appears with her perfectly plucked eyebrow while she is reclining on a sofa and looking up from
her library book . Frayn has positioned Mrs Hayward in the domestic sphere of the house and then
used stative verbs to show her lack of movement

Representation In Heart Of Darkness Essay
The Others Representation in Conrad s Heart of Darkness
Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness is one of the most known novels in English literature. The story
begins when Marlow, who works for a Belgian company, went on a journey to the heart of Africa as a
steamship captain. Through his journey, he heard the name of Kurtz for the first time. Then the name
is repeated many times, which made Marlow, who is our narrator in addition to another unknown
narrator, interested to know about Kurtz. Kurtz works for the company as an ivory trader in the Congo

Or does it belong to the company? I think it belongs to the Congo and to the Congolese. Neither Kurtz
nor the company has the right to claim that the ivory belongs to him.
Finally, I believe that Conrad s Heart of Darkness embodies racism to Africa and for women, in which
both are ignorant, silenced and nameless. Conrad s sympathy with Africans under the colonization of
Belgium, does not give him the right to represent them and to celebrate English Imperialism. Albeit
that people of Africa have different skin color or different shape from the European, they are still
human beings and no one has the right to dehumanize them.
Chinua Achebe in his essay An Image of Africa asks not to consider Conrad s Heart of Darkness as
one of the best English novels, because the Africans suffer for a very long time by the dehumanization
and by the European s representation of them. Chinua Achebe states that:
I am talking about a book which parades in the most vulgar fashion prejudices and insults from which
a section of mankind has suffered untold agonies and atrocities in the past and continues to do so in
many ways and many places today. I am talking about a story in which the very humanity of black
people is called in question.

The Fallibility of Partial DNA in Courts
DNA s certainty is dramatized in today s society, which gives lay people the impression that DNA is
infallible; however, in the case of Wayne Butler and others, the fallibility of DNA is exposed. Wayne
Butler was accused of sadistically murdering Natasha Douty who was found beaten to death on
Brampton Island in 1983. Wayne Butler was vacationing on Brampton Island during the timeframe of
the murder; however, claimed to be jogging during this time. After submitting a blood test, Butler was
eliminated as a suspect. However, Butler was arrested in 2001 for this murder because semen, which
was found on the towel at the crime scene, was found to be a match. The John Tonge Centre
performed a DNA test on the evidence on the towel. Butler was found innocent after it was identified
that the John Tonge Centre mislabeled the test tubes containing the crime scene evidence. ( DNA
Evidence ) This case proves that DNA testing may not be as reliable as we think.
No two people, except identical twins, have identical DNA sequences, which makes DNA testing
appealing to law enforcement. Two types of DNA testing include short tandem repeat and variable
number tandem repeat. Short tandem repeat requires less DNA compared to variable tandem repeat,
which is useful when a sample has been degraded at the crime scene. ( DNA Evidence ) Whilst DNA
evidence is a useful weapon in solving crimes, it is not infallible; therefore, it needs to be used with
caution, especially with partial DNA profile,

Classroom Management Strategies For High School Teachers
Six Classroom Management Strategies for High School Teachers
(Without Good Classroom Management a Teacher Loses Control)
One of the biggest keys to being a successful teacher is classroom management. Of course, there are
different needs depending on if you teach kindergartners or high school auto shop students, and every
teacher has his or her own individual style. A constant through out all classrooms is this, without good
classroom management, a teacher loses control. Once you lose control of the classroom the amount of
actual teaching and learning diminishes to almost nothing.
I am by nature not a strong disciplinarian and like to be relaxed and fun with my class. I will never be
known as that mean teacher . I am the teacher students think they can get away with mischief in class,
and in my early years, they did get away with a lot. I will never be up to the level of one of my
colleagues, who has been teaching high school English for almost 40 years. She is a wonderful woman
who can even scare other teachers during staff meetings if they were to talk or fidget.
I have however, over the years been able to find ways to combine my somewhat easygoing personality
with some constant classroom rules and ideas to maintain a good learning atmosphere. Here is a
simple list of six suggestions I think most teachers will agree with and should use.
1) Over plan each day You need to keep students busy working or listening. If you have a dead time at
the end of your class, it can be

The Effects Of Stress On Our Mental And Physical Health
As we learned in class, stress is any force that changes the body s natural state, known as homeostasis.
Stress does not always have to be viewed as a bad thing. For example, stress can motivate someone to
study for an exam or plan ahead in his or her agenda to stay organized. Its only when stress manifest
out of control and is not addressed properly that it can have very negative effects on both our mental
and physical health. Reflecting on the document we watched in class, Stress: Portrait of a Killer, I was
surprised to learn more about baboons correlating to human beings stress management and how you
position as individual in the hierarchy of life has in effect on the levels of stress you may endure. In
the documentary I learned a lot about how dominant male baboons has lower stress levels which in
turn, made these baboon relativity healthier compared to their other members of their group. The
baboons who had higher stress levels also has high blood pressure, not as good immune system, and a
poor reproductive system. This just goes to show the position the baboons held in their hierarchy
related to their health and ultimately, their life span. This idea that stress is related to poor health and
life expectancy is not only true for baboons, but for human beings as well. I know from prior
experiences when i get stress I tend to get really sick. When the end of the semester comes around, I
get overwhelmed with papers, last minute assignments, and finals to study. I was

Luckily, as I was searching online for different performances I ran across The Flex Crew performing at Skully s music diner. I have been to Skully s once before to watch a folk band perform. The atmosphere was a lot different than when we saw The Flex Crew. Obviously, the genre of music was a lot different, along with the atmosphere of the crowd. I was very surprised by the number of people in the bar that evening. Mostly, because the performance started at 11PM and the world series was on. On top of this, online their website said the show began at 10PM, but like a very great band they came out at their own pace. In the meantime, there was a DJ performing to keep the crowd alive. A total of 1,618 sample were collected, dominated by oysters (58.03%), pectinids (12.54%), echinoids (5.68%), bivalves (14.77%), and gastropods (8.96%) (Fig. 39). Instead of their great abundance they surprisingly show a low diversity, and they are randomly distributed all over the successions (Figs.12, 13, 15, 17). But it is noticeable that the Oasis and Escarpment Member are more favorable for oysters and pectinids, while El Diffa Plateau Member was dominated by gastropods (Fig. 12). In order to understand the paleoecology and paleoenvironment of the Middle Miocene time of Siwa Oasis a detailed investigation of the abovementioned faunal groups will be discussed. VI.2.1 Oysters They are the most dominant element of the benthic community in the Miocene of Egypt. Until now, oysters from the study area were only mentioned in passing by a few authors (Gindy et al., 1969; El Shazly and Abdel Hamid, 2001). Like their modern representatives, oysters cement themselves onto the substrate by their left valves. Most cementing bivalves are found in shallow water environments having depths of less than 35 m (Kauffmann, 1969). Instead, it is a distinct piece of the biological makeup of our brains. Language is a complex, specialized skill, which develops in the child spontaneously, without conscious effort or formal instruction, is deployed without awareness of its underlying logic, is qualitatively the same in every individual, and is distinct from more general abilities to process information or behave intelligently. For these reasons, some cognitive scientists have described language as a psychological faculty, a mental organ, a neural system, and a computational module. • 10. Ethanol Pollution W. Patzek 2005, 324). When those chemicals are released in ethanol fumes they are released in the air and are inhaled by people around the cars. The New York Department of health (NYDH) reports that, ammonia is irritating and corrosive. Exposure to high concentrations of ammonia in air causes immediate burning of the nose, throat and respiratory tract (NYHD 2005). The use of fertilizers in corn production makes ethanol even worse than gasoline. Patzek states, the air is more polluted with the use of ethanol, and more health hazards are introduced with agricultural chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides, and by the waste water streams (Tad W. Patzek 2005, 325). Ethanol is not a clean fuel, and it is causing more pollution than gasoline does. Ethanol strains corn consumption, because corn is so important that it is used for so many different things. Animal feed is mostly made of corn and corn silage. Ethanol causes shortages in other crops like corn and cotton. On top of that, ethanol is not only not a good fuel, but it isn t a clean soil, adding health risks by releasing toxic chemical fumes. With all those factors ethanol should not be used or even produced. The Solution Ethanol production numbers continue to rise and it is causing a problem. Some people believe all ghosts to be evil. This is not so. Just because a person does, not for whatever reason, go on after death does not make them evil or mean they are here to do harm. In theory, ghosts are the remnants of what was once a human being. Someone, who at one time, had substance on this earth. They are everything that we, as living creatures, are but without the vehicle we call the human body. They exhibit all the mental attributes that you and I have such as thought, conscience, emotions and emotional needs, morals, calculation, ego, personality and everything that makes up the human psyche. Acknowledging the existence of ghosts or spirits leads one to ask why they are here. Here are several answers. One reason is that the spirit does not realize, or refuses to believe, that it has died. This can often be the case, but not always. If one suffers a sudden or unexpected death, in disbelief, they may not pass on to whatever destination. Denial or unawareness may be the key to someone remaining behind. They will continue to go about their daily lives as though nothing happened. There are documented cases of this instance. • 12. Salt Marshes And Salt Marshes Apparently, marshes are often imagined incorrectly. To some people, they might confuse a marsh to a swamp or to a wetland. Although relative, marshes are only a kind of wetland, which is land where the water level is close to the soil surface or covers the surface for at least part of the year. Marshes, specifically salt marshes, are lush, intertidal grasslands renowned for their productivity (Silliman 2014). Simply, a salt marsh is a coastal ecosystem of grasses characterized by poorly drained mineral soils due to regular flooding of salt water brought in by ocean tides. Since salt marshes serve as estuaries between the land and ocean, people do not realize an important role they play in protection; these coastal marshes are presumed to protect human communities from coastal hazards, such as storms and hurricanes, by providing important ecosystem services. One very important ecosystem service is their role as a buffer in protecting coastlines (Shepard et al. 2011). As humans fail to appreciate and protect these marshes, their continuous impacts on coastal infrastructure would not only negatively impact humans but to the life on the salt marshes as well. Salt marshes are found in the temporal zone on protected shorelines throughout the world and are stressful environments due to their intertidal behaviors. As a result, plants and animals living in salt marshes must have adaptations to deal with the harsh physical stressors, ranging from high salt concentrations, intense heat, and low oxygen in waterlogged soils (Sulliman 2014). Nevertheless, there is a positive trade off: although plants and animals have to overcome these physical obstacles, they get access to abundant resources, protection from predators, and a high potential for both them and their offspring in return. An example of this trade off is investigated with a fish, a mummichog Fundulus heteroclitus, a resident of intertidal salt marshes on the east coast of North America. The study suggests that mummichogs have the ability to alter their habitat use accordingly to environmental factors, such as heat stress and oxygen depletion, to create a predation refuge habitat, which would then allow high growth rates (Halpin 2000). • 14. Analysis Of Jonathan Swift s Gulliver s Travels Jonathan Swift was a writer known for his use of satire: the application of humor, irony, exaggeration, and ridicule to expose and criticize. At a glance, the novel seems to be a travel log of Lemuel Gulliver s adventures, but is primarily a work of satire. Through Gulliver s Travels, Swift strives to satirize the eighteenth century humanity. Swift was titled a misanthrope, a hater of humanity, his misanthropy rose from his disappointment in mankind. Swift utilizes Gulliver in satirizing the population, which he was disappointed with, in each voyage of the novel. The satire used in Gulliver s Travels is used to reveal how Swift regarded mankind, as societies who did not exist to their utmost potential to be great but were instead exhibiting the frills of greatness. Swift was recognized as a man of intelligence and used his intellect to display the anarchy, corruption, and confusion of the eighteenth century England. He saw the idiocy and the vices behind the façade of reason and common sense. His intelligence was capable to of identifying evil in all its forms and areas of presence and he could not endure the lack of reason in any aspect of human existence. She writes that people pay a ton of money each year, but not one in ten thousand has any idea of what actually takes place, and it is extremely hard to find books and any information about this subject. She assumes that it must be a reason for such secrecy, and may be if people knew more about this procedure, they would not want this service after their death. • 23. Definition Essay On Underdogs At first I didn t quit understand the meaning of an underdog . Without reading and asking for the definition I really believed that this word was a term use to define some kind of a bad day at work (dog s day). After reading the definition on Wikipedia I truly understood that I was wrong. An underdog, as defined by Wikipedia is : a person or group in a competition, usually in sports and creative works, who is popularly expected to lose. The party, team, or individual expected to win is called the favorite or top dog. In the case where an underdog wins, the outcome is anupset. An underdog bet is a bet on the underdog or outsider for which the odds are generally higher. As I red the two stories of Seabiscuit and Jason McElwain I truly understood ... With less experience than Seabiscuits and Red, Jason showed his teammate that he could play basketball has well as all of them. Being an assistant manager who had never played a game during the year, he was introduced at the last few minutes of the last game and became a hero at that moment but he showed everybody that he could play by scoring more points than everybody during the whole game. He was an underdog because no one believed he could play basketball and he proved everybody wrong. He believed in himself and lived the present moment. I ve never really seen myself as an underdog but being the only girl in a family of four kids I think it makes me one. Since I have three brothers, we often do boys activities. They are very competitive and often thinks that I can t be better then them. But a lot of times I win because I m stronger then they are and I also have to prove them that I can play with them. So, like Seabicuits, Red and Jason, I m not suppose to win against my brothers but more often then not I do...so I m an underdog and very proud of it. During Wilberforce s lifetime the British Empire expanded and proceed to be the dominant force in the world as an economic, military and political power. The group was ardently committed to Practical Christianity and abolishing slavery. This is summarised succinctly by Together, this Clapham fellowship sought to make the British Empire an instrument of social and moral welfare to all people. This commonly held view shows that the Clapham Sect knew the magnitude and the significance the British Empire held and could use this as a platform to project their christian ideals onto people who in their eyes were worse off for not conforming to these ideals. The late nineteenth century is best known for its exceptional growth in extensive business. Across the nation, little organizations were being supplanted by titan partnerships and mechanical combinations, prompting another, uncommon level of riches for the business visionaries who created them. With the increment in enormous business came another level of riches that had never been seen. They likewise mercilessly separated unions and strikes and, to guarantee that their power would not be taken from them, they paid off city, state, and national government officials to stay great to huge organizations. The late nineteenth century prompted more political corruption and oppression that the United States had ever found in the work environment, which is the reason these specialists were truth be told robber barons, not the chiefs of industry they wished to depict themselves as.
