The Testament Of Abraham s Story At The Beginning Of
Genesis
Although the Bible was written thousands of years ago, the lessons expressed by
God are just as relevant in today s world. The Bible, specifically the Book of
Genesis, consists of stories that seem outdated, however, these stories illustrate moral
lessons that will always be applicable in life. The most prominent lesson is that
people must have faithin Godin order to trust Him with all of their heart. Particular
instances from the lives of Abraham and Joseph provide reasons to believe God is
always trustworthy. In the Abraham s story at the beginning of Genesis, God
speaks directly to his people and they are able to speak directly back; by the time of
Joseph s life, God s presence is less obvious and requires more blind faith. These
timeless messages emphasize that all of God s promises are certain and that his
followers must grow to faithfully trust Him.
The story of Abraham gives followers reason to believe that God s promises are
absolute. Abraham s biblical story follows the pattern of God testing his followers
faith, blessing them and forming a binding covenant with them. Abraham s story
of his faithful journey begins with God saying to him, Leave your country, your
kindred and your father s house for a country which I shall show you; and I shall
make you a great nation, I shall bless you and make your name famous; you are to
be a blessing! (Genesis 12:1 3) Motivated by God s offer of fame and fortune,
Abraham left his home in Haran and headed to Canaan with his

On the evening of December 26, 1946, it seemed that Benjamin Bugsy Siegel had
done almost everything right for the debut of the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas.
The casino was staffed with roulette, craps and blackjack dealers, restaurant and
bar workers were ready to serve and the showroom was booked with famous
entertainers, radio comedian Jimmy Durante and band leader Xavier Cugat. Siegel
reassured Las Vegas residents by advertising the message, Dress Optional at Anytime.

Siegel assaulted a roulette dealer he caught passing chips to a losing player. The
comedienne and singer Rose Marie later reported performing one evening before
less than two dozen people. An amazing 28,000 people made it to the Flamingo
those first nights, but because its hotel rooms were not yet completed, guests had
to find rooms at the neighboring El Rancho Vegas and Last Frontier resorts, where
they dropped some of what they had won at Siegel s expense. Siegel had every
right to expect to take in a lot of money from the casino, but the unlikely winners
left while their luck was good. The casino continued to bleed money through New
Year s Day. By late January, Siegel decided to close temporarily to save funds while
he completed construction of the hotel and its planned amenities an Olympic sized
pool, nine hole golf course, badminton, handball and tennis courts. He placed a
newspaper ad announcing the Flamingo would shut its doors from February 6 to
March 1. He boasted of using imported marble and wood among the building
materials, and that the Flamingo s guest rooms, conceived by Hollywood designer
Tom Douglas, would have private baths with individual connected sewers and tile
with a color scheme that harmonizes with drapes and upholstered chairs in the
bedroom. But Siegel, the free spender, was in denial about his abilities as a successful
businessman. In

Liver Homeostasis
The liver is an important organ which operates the bodys energy metabolism. It acts
as a centre point to various tissues like skeletal muscle and adipose tissue. Food is
therefore digested in the gastrointestinal tract, and so the glucose, fatty acids and the
amino acids are absorbed within the blood stream. Then these are transported to the
livervia the portal vein. The liver is controlled by insulin and other metabolic
hormones. Glucoseis therefore metabolised in to pyruvate through the process of
glycolosis. The pyruvate is then completely oxidised to generate ATP through the
TCA cycle and therefore oxidative phosphorylation happens in the mitochondria.
The three hormones that are involved in the liver are called glucagon, insulin and ...

The pyruvate is then imported in to the mitochondria and then it is metabolized by
PDC to make acetyl CoA. The acetyl CoA is combined with oxaloacetate by citrate
synthase to generate citrate. Then the citrate is exported in the cytoplasm and then
it is split in to acetyl CoA and oxaloacetate by ATP citrate lyase. Oxaloacetate
would be reduced to malate which is then converted in to pyruvate by the malic
enzyme which relases NADPH. The pyruvate is then recycled back in to the
mitochondria and it is carboxylated by pyruvate carboxylase to make oxaloacetate
and this would drive the citrate
Asperger’s Disorder Essay examples
Amazingly, one percent of new births will have some type of autism (Autism
Society of America, 2010). Asperger s disorder is one type of Autism, and is at the
high end of these disorders. This disorder, which is also called Asperger s
syndrome (AS) or autistic psychopathy, belongs to a group of childhood disorders
known as pervasive developmental disorders (PDDs) or autistic spectrum disorders
(Exkorn, 2006). A characteristic of this disorder is harsh and strict disruption of a
certain type of brain development. The most affected areas of Asperger s disorder is
difficulty in social understanding and in behavior or activities that are limited or
recurring (Frey, 2003). Students with Asperser s have different levels of seriousness,

John that it is time to change classes, he would get aggravated and would want to
finish the model he had begun. The teacher talked to him, explaining that in five
minutes they will have to leave, and they can come back at lunch if all the other
work is completed. John agrees. This technique settled him down. The rest of the
day he did his best so he could get back to building his model (Glover, 2010).
Asperger s disorder (AD) is a disruption in the formation of the child s physical and
or psychological development and recognizing these, the disorder was separated from
Autism in 1944, to provide a basis for each child to get the proper care. All children
with Asperger Disorder will show some traits in these three categories; impaired
social skills, trouble communicating with others and a pattern of behavior, interest,
and activities will be limited and recurring; they become obsessed with a single
theme. Usually the child will have the normal communication skills in the
beginning years. They will be using single words by age one. They just will not be
using them in the normal way. When doctors are testing for this disorder, they are
looking for specific behaviors or skills that are either present or absent. If the right
services are available, Asperser s children will show significant improvement in

Revenues from circulation in 2011 have marginally increased from 2010. The
difference in revenues is $2940M $2323B = $617M and we are only recovering an
estimated $118M. There is variable cost savings associated with the loss of print
subscribers but this is probably offset with loss of advertising revenue and
development costs for digital solutions.
Recommendation NYT should continue with its Paywall initiative as upwards of
40% incoming traffic is from other sites i.e. Google, yahoo etc. Internet delivery
on mobile devices is also becoming popular. Additionally, lots of users are able to
access news content via leaky paywall. This reflects users increasing interest in
accessing NYT news content in digital format. Digital edition is in early stages for
adoption by end users. New sources and models for revenue generation or sharing
are to be discovered and streamlined. Internet will become platform of choice for
majority of users in near future. New industry needs to continue exploring methods to
present news content to user preferred way and adapt to new and different streams of
revenue. The digital edition is in its growth phase heading into maturity. There is still
potential to increase and development. The data seem to indicate that the New York

NOPD Organizational Behavior
The NOPD is a bureaucratic, quasi military organization. The Department is
complex, performing many tasks to carry out its mission. These tasks are handled by
different divisions in the NOPD. The Department has a division of labor among its
employees. The NOPD has a rank structure with duties delegated from top to bottom.
The Department has a chain of command and information flows according to it. The
NOPD has written rules and regulations. Anyone interested in joining the Department
can choose from several career paths. Officers wear uniforms, have military style
designations, and are legally authorized to carry weapons, use force, and deprive
individuals of their liberty. These characteristics complicate policework.
The DOJ s investigation and findings report found systemic deficiencies that caused
or contributed to the NOPD s patterns and practices of unconstitutional conduct,
including field supervision.
The Justice Department found that the NOPD had deficient field supervision
policies. For example, policy allowed for too large a span of control that prevented
adequate supervision. In management, a span of control of no more than 1:10 is
generally accepted and 1:5 is recommended. However, an NOPD sergeant ... Show

and counseling and corrective action did not occur. Some supervisors did not ensure

Behavior Analysis Intervention for Austic Children Essay
Introduction
If we look at the anatomical parts of the brain, we can notice differences in autistic
children s brain. According to Just, Cherkassky, Keller, Kana, and Minshew (2007),
when autistic group was compared to control group, the functional connectivity was
lower for the autistic participants between frontal and parietal areas, relevant parts of
corpus callosum were smaller in cross sectional area and the size of the genu of the
corpus callosum was associated with the functional connectivity of frontal parietal.

Applied Behavioral Analysis Intervention ABA is based on principles of behavioral
therapy and is one of the most effective interventions for children that have autism.
According to Healy, O Connor, Leader, and Kenny (2008), early intensive behavioral
intervention was effective with preschool children that had autism because they
reported high achievements in normative functioning, which was measured under
practical outcomes and standard psychological methods. The study also concludes
that since Applied Behavior Analysisis a treatment, it can fabricate systematic,
substantial and durable effects under particular conditions. This study provided an
example where 40% to 60 % children before reaching five who had two years and
ten months treatment improved well enough that they were ready to be enrolled in
public schools. The research shows that Applied Behavior Analysis is effective with
children that have autism, but there are many other effective interventions that can be
integrated with ABA. For example Lim and Draper (2011) incorporated music with
Applied Behavioral Analysis and found that both of music and ABA were effective
and there was no significant differences in between them. Moreover, results
specifically indicated that music was as important as speech training to form
functional verbal operants in children that have autism. The results also stated that
when music is paired with ABA, musical stimuli could enhance verbal production in
children with autism. In
Historical Influences On Catch-22 By Joseph Heller
Throughout my readings and research, I have been able to discover more about
how literature and history intertwine and influence each other. Joseph Heller, author
of Catch 22, uses his novel to teach others about the atrocities of war and their
influences on society. Through his own life experiences and his theme of imbalance
of power, Heller is able to encourage readers, like myself, to think a certain way about
wars and discover more about his novel. Historical events influenced Joseph Hellerin
many ways when writing Catch 22. Similar to Yossarian, Joseph Heller was a
bombardier in World War II. Although Joseph Heller enjoyed his experience in
World War II, he did not feel the same about the Cold War. He believed that the

How Did Emily Dickinson s Life Influence Her Poetry
mily Dickinson, an American poet, is considered to be one of the most influential,
unusual, and respected poets of today. Her lifestyle, though quite strange in the 1800
s, would lead to some of the most thought provoking and inspiring poetry of all time.
Dickinson was a woman of many possibilities and uniqueness. Her life and mind set
greatly influenced her writingstyle and poetry. Her life was quite eventless unlike
other poets, but Dickinson s home life, mental stability, and psychological state
would make up for that. Those critical parts of her life influence her writing is more
ways than one. Despite not being recognized in her day, her influence and poetry has
spread in this century and will spread into the future. Emily Dickinson
Effects Of Meritocracy
Over the elementary and secondary school years, there were many knowledgeable
experiences that will develop one s mind cognitively and socially among
environmental factors that surrounds them. These experiences may be examined by
three notable factors; socialization, national identity and bureaucracy. This paper is
aimed to examine the effects of the three essential factors in the settings of
elementary and secondary school to demonstrate the factors of meritocracy (eg.
multicultural education), produced by the Canadian educational system as it shies
away from factors of dominant culture in former curriculums.
With the powerful agents of socialization, they may render an significant impact to
how the educated students comprehend the materials that were taught to them.
Socialization involves a learning process in which individuals learn to members of a
given society (Steckley, 2017, p.472). Education can be a powerful socializing agent
because factors in schools (eg. teachers, textbooks) are often the first source of
information that children will receive about social groups other than their own

This strike helped empower other women in the same situation to fight for rights in

The second reading of the debate of the bill, machinists got be to cited next to MP
Shirley Summerskill due to playing an important part in history for the struggle of
equal pay. When the UK joined the European union in 1973, became under the
subject of article 119 of the 1957 treaty of Rome. That specifies that men and
women should receive equal pay for equal work. All the women were in the union;
it was a strong force to backed them up. In 1983, the Equal Value Amendment
Regulations passed as an amendment to the Equal Pay Act. The European Court of
Justice had found that UK legislation was not sufficient to provide for equal work
for equal value for all employees. The new legislation gave women the right to go to
an employment tribunal on a new ground: that they felt their work was of equal value
to men in the same organization. The women at Ford used this to challenge Ford s
discriminatory job evaluation scheme, but the employment tribunal ruled against
them and turned down their appeal in 1984. With their renewed hopes once again
unfulfilled by the law, the women at Ford took strike action in December 1984.

Some workingmen helped the women in the strike. The husbands that worked in the
ford plant supported their wife s throughout the strike.
Gender Bias Within The Workplace
Gender bias is a concept that is seen every day, where society has taken upon itself
to place male and females in certain stereotypical categories. For instance, gender
bias in the workforce is one of the most common areas where women and men are
treated differently. Women are supposed to work in fields such as nursing, office
work, and so on; while men work in the fields of construction, engineering, athletics,
etc.. In addition, there is a clear difference in the pay amount and promotions that
men and women receive. What s the situation and where does it need changing? What
laws have been passed?
Before anything, some may ask, what gender bias is well, gender bias can be defined
as the discrimination of one gender, giving the other gender more favoritism. Gender
bias can also refer to the unequal treatment of certain individuals, whether female or
male. This treatment can be clearly seen in the workplace standpoint.
Gender bias in the workforce has been present for centuries. It is a persistent
problem that, despite the progress that has already has been made, there is still
much to be done before it can disappear. A Gender stereotypic viewpoint in the
workforce has been passed down from generations to generations, and these sorts of
ideas are hard to get rid of.
For years men and women have followed a certain stereotype, with the woman being
a simple housewife, staying with the children and sharing an unbreakable maternal
bond with them. As Cystal Hoyt, Aleah Goldin,
Analysis Of The Thing In The Forest By A. S. Byatt
First off we have The Thing in the Forest by A.S. Byatt, the author used many
components for a short story to make a cynical tale that creates an incredible
sensation of curiosity from the reader. In this story we have two girls who form a
friendship in this time of war as they are being evacuated from war zones. These two
protagonist are allowed access to the world with only a curfew, where shortly after
these two adventures set afoot in a mysterious forest do they encounter the Thing, a
creature that could only be created from the darkest depths of the sub conscience that
will haunt these girls till the end of all days. Byatt shows the darkness of war with
the journey of these girl y using very in depth imagery, historical/war setting, and
character development.
This story gives its audience incredible imagery, and allusions. Which are good for
the very fairytale feel of the story. It starts off with a train full of children, none of
which no where they are going. Soon after they make it and are released we
encounter a new character named Alys. I found she had a larger part of the story
than the amount of text dedicated. She resembled innocence. Now that she was there
we have a theme of losing innocence in the story. The forest with the Thing inside
represents the time of war and destructiveness it ring in the lives that happen on it.
They gave a little bit of insight on the movement of it by stating, They give the
strange impression of moving in in waves from

Should they? Many people believe that College is worth the money and will

College is good, but not going to College is the better route to take. Collegeeducation
is not worth the price of tuition. One reason not to go to College is the price of the
education. Another reason is that you can Hack College because you can do it by
teaching it to yourself. College can be very expensive, and some people can simply
not afford it. This is one of the main reasons why people are on the edge whether to
go to College or not. The average student loan is $27,000 . If you decide to College

Unit 39; The Sound and Music Industry Assignment 3
Business Plan This business plan will go through the process of producing an album
through to the launch party. This will include rehearsals, recording, mixing and
mastering, marketing and, as mentioned before, the launch party.
My niche is Keyboard led Pop Punk. This is unique because it is uncommon for
songs in this genre to feature keyboard, let alone to use one as the lead instrument.
This should appeal to both audiences who enjoy pop punk, as well as those that
simply enjoy the tones produced by a keyboard.
My product is a 15 minute, 4 track EP. The songs featured on this album will be
original with the instrumentation being predominantly keyboard, guitar, drums and

It will last for four hours and my goal is to sell as many tickets as possible, as selling
every ticket would give me around ВЈ20,000, which would greatly contribute towards
paying for the costs. Even without reaching this ideal, it allows for a far greater
expansion in all areas of the project. The launch party will also provide some
advertisement for my product, as the marketing ideas should build up enough
attention for people to acknowledge my product. The launch party will also be used
as an opportunity to sell merchandise, as people would associate the merchandise to
the artist, and the memory of attending the live event. This is a key opportunity to
sell merchandise, as it is the beginning of an artist s career, and merchandise from
the beginning of an artist s career can be both a sentimental, memorable object, as
well as a collectors object, and both hold values in different ways. In order to
transport instruments and musicians to and from the venue, travel would cost around
ВЈ200 to rent a vehicle for a weekend. This would be vital, as it is a cheap and
efficient way to get everything to the live performance, and without it, there would be

The Importance Of Drinking Water In Bangladesh
Introduction
Safe drinking water is essential for healthy life, and United Nations (UN) General
Assembly declared safe and clean drinking water as a human right essential to the full
enjoyment of life [1]. Moreover, the importance of water, sanitation and hygiene for
health and development has been reflected in the outcomes of a series of international
policy forums [1]. These have also included health and water oriented conferences,
but most importantly in the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) adopted by the
General Assembly of the UN in 2000. The UN General Assembly declared the
period from 2005 to 2015 as the International Decade for Action, Water for Life [1].
Access to safe drinking water is important as a health and development issue at
national, regional and local levels. Bangladesh, a developing country from South
Asian (SA) region also takes several steps for ensuring sanitation and safe drinking
water facilities among the people. As a result, Bangladesh has made great progress
in this sector. The government also claimed that it has achieved the MDG indicator
of ensuring safe drinking water for 85% people of the country. According to different
demographic and health surveys, the percentage of using improved sources of
drinking water is about 98% (reported in the latest two surveys Multiple Indicator
Cluster Surveys (MICS) 2012 13 and Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey
(BDHS) 2014) [2,3]. But, this achievement statistics are overlooking the
shortcomings.
Saint Thomas Aquinas And The Philosophy Of Religion
The philosophy of religion addresses not only the ultimate question of, is there a
God? , but also the question of, if there is, then what are they like? But also, most
importantly of all, philosophy tries to answer what that means for us, as the
human race and various societies of which each of us are part of. The concept of
God is usually defined by the nature of not having a definition as to why things
happen. God is usually said to be unlimited in power, knowledge, and goodness and
unknowable to us mere mortals; but these are all traits that are defined by a lack of
something unknown. Regardless of the religion, Gods are mainly all seeing but
virtually impossible to reach for contact. Philosophy, however, can be defined as, the
use of reason in understanding such things as the nature of the real world and
existence, the use and limits of knowledge, and the principals of moral judgement[.]
This seems to be the opposite of religion and God, as philosophy is questioning;
whereas God needs no questions as they are both unseen and unknown. But, as I will
now discuss in greater... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

about both philosophy and theology throughout his life, bu his most influential

an explication of God s many gifts. He argues that the power of God is so great,
that He does not move physisically, but through His thinking and willing. The second
part is on Ethics. Thomas argues for a change of how we view Aristotle s Ethics

Semiotics In The Simpsons
In this paper i will be analysing and discussing the semiotics on an episode of The
Simpson series.
The Simpsons is an animated adult series created by Matt Groening. it depicts the
lifestyle of middle class America in a satirical form represented by the dysfunctional
Simpson family consisting of Homer, Marge,Bart,Lisa and Maggie. it is also a

The Dust Bowl During The Great Plains Region
The dust bowl was a devastating time in the United States history that occurred during
the 1930s, caused by atypically high temperatures, perpetual drought and new farming
methods. Vigorous winds disturbed the topsoil, resulting in overwhelming dust
storms which destroyed an immense amount of farms, in upwards of 100,000. These
storms devastated the source of income for the farmers affected. The dust bowlwas
located in the Great Plainsregion, which includes the states of Oklahoma, Kansas,
and Northern Texas. Thousands of workers were faced with an impasse, become a
laborer, doing mindless work for miniscule wages, or move away and search for
better work. (San JosГ© State University) The people brought to these decisions that

Rabbi Yehuda Halevi, A Jewish Poet And Philosopher
Rabbi Yehuda Halevi was a Jewish poet and philosopher. Many consider him the
greatest poet of the golden ages. Halevi was born around the year 1080 in Toledo,
Spain. His artistic talent was evident from a young age, and his father who was not
short of financial means ensured Halevi had the best education possible. Halevi s
poems could be broadly categorized as religious or secular. Aside from his poetry,
Halevi also wrote the Kitab al Kuzari in Arabic, a Jewish philosophical guide that is
one of the most important religious readings in Judaism. The Kuzari contains
dialogue between a Rabbi and Judaism converts of the Khazar tribe. Halevi s
magnetic personality gave him powerful friends across Europe and the Middle East

He had a lifelong longing to make a pilgrimage to the holy city of Jerusalem and
many of his poems reflected this desire. Arguably, the line of his work that was
connected to the Holy Land was what he was most renowned for within the Jewish
world. Arguably Halevi s most famous poem My Heart is in the East captures this
yearning perfectly. The line My heart is in the east, and I in the uttermost west the
east referring to Israel and the West his location in Europe captures the frustration of
being so far away from the land of his people. The poem sums up Halevi s and
other Jews plight, being torn between the riches of Spain which is albeit dominated
by Muslims and Christians, and Jerusalem s dust where fame and riches do not
abound but where the heart is truly at home. The term fetters of Edom can be
loosely translated to mean Christianity. The poem would therefore also appear to
contain an expression of doubt by Halevi regarding his prospects of ever making it
to Zion due to the restrictions and perils placed on travel by Christian and Muslim
domination of the Jews and their land.
From Jehuda Halevi s Songs to Zion is an apparent continuation of My Heart is in
the East with the first stanza containing the entirety of the latter poem. The five
verses of the poem seem to transform progressively through a journey to the Holy

Coming Of Age Stories Essay
Having realizations is important for human beings, it helps us mature. It is common
to see this in Coming of Age stories. It helps the main character in stories develop. In
Coming Of Age Stories, the main character goes through realizations, making them
mature mentally. Periodically, it is difficult to stay on top of the most consequential
priorities. In the short storyAmerican History it says, Hija, the President has been
killed. We must show respect. He was a great man. Come to church with me
tonight. She tried to embrace me, but my books were in the way. My first impulse
was to comfort her, she seemed so distraught, but I had to meet Eugene in fifteen
minutes. ( 971 ). The president had been killed that day in the story. The girl was
focused on studying with a boy, when she should have been home with her family
on the dreadful day. She ended up going to the boy s house resulting in
embarrassment, as it says in the story, She looked intently at me for a couple of
heartbeats, then said as if to herself, I don t know how you people do it. Then
directly to me: Listen. Honey. Eugene doesn t want to study with you. He is a
smart boy. Doesn t need help. You understand me. I am truly sorry if he told you
you could come over. He cannot study with you. It s nothing personal. You

Essay on Structural Technique in The Story of an Hour by...
Structure provides guidance to the reader throughout a short story. Kate Chopin uses
structural techniques to enhance The Story of an Hour from beginning to end. She
follows formal structure to a certain degree, but occasionally strays to actual structure.
Upon analysis of the organization of Chopin s story, the readerunderstands the
powerful meaning that is expressed in such a short piece. Initially, a short story
begins with an exposition. This is the laying out of important background
information, characters, and setting. Chopin s story is only a few short paragraphs
in length, so her exposition is almost overlooked. However, she does provide one
detail that is essential to appreciating Mrs. Mallard. Louise is described as needing...

Continuing, Chopin provides the crisis to aid in the structure of The Story of an Hour.
The crisis is the initiation of tension and provides the turning point in a story. Mrs.
Mallard s reaction to the news is considered the crisis in this story. Upon hearing of
her husband s death, Louise instantly grasps it (Shmoop) and locks herself in her
room to cry. The majority of widows would reject the announcement and insist that
their husbands would be coming home any second. Louise proves to be an unusual
widow (Shmoop), which drives the story to a unique situation. Since Mrs. Mallard
acts like this, readers begin to ponder the intentions of her and the initial
vulnerability she possesses. Chopin uses the crisis to lead up to the climax. While
readers are questioning Louise, Chopin sneaks in the unusual climax and shocks
them. Finally, readers reach the climax. Chopin wonderfully delivers a climax that
strikes readers and may be considered disturbing. The purpose of a climax is to
declare a high point and reveal any acceptance. In The Story of an Hour acceptance
is an understatement. Mrs. Mallard finds herself declaring freedom and feeling
relief, by the death of her husband. She no longer dreads her long years to come,
but instead welcomes them with open arms. Her sickening feeling of victory
confirms her anticipation for life after her husband s death. She is drinking in a very
elixir of life (Chopin, 294) that comes with
The Learning Theories Of English Language Education
This qualitative study is designed to answer the following primary question: What are
the learning theories of English language education that are used in the Palestinian
Refugee Camps in Jordan and Israel? This question will branch into the following
three secondary questions:
1 What are the sociocultural and socio economic, gender, literacy, political conflict,
religion, race, political stability, religion, sexual identity aspects and their influence in
English language education in an extra ordinary and a challenging learning
environment?
2 What are the strategies used to deal with refugee students limited English language
literacy with relevance to previous leanings and prior experiences that influence their
current English language acquisition?
3 What is the contextual and relational nature of the students identity in the refugees
schools?
My interest in this study stems from my bilingual, political and social background.
My birth and rowing up in Jerusalem in the seventies of the last century made me
aware of certain historical wars that led the Palestinians to flee from their homeland in
Palestine in 1948 and 1967, Lebanon in 1970 and Syria in 2011 enhanced my

this topic is relevant to my ESL teaching background and being an instructor who
taught English as a second language in the Mediterranean and Arabian Gulf countries

My Relationship With My Aunt
My relationship with my aunt is something else. I don t think a lot of people say
there aunt is like a sister to them. My aunt is a human named Laura Brunke. Born
on February 2nd of the year 1982. If she was not born on the 2nd of February in
1982, and named Laura Brunke I don t know where i d be today all these years
filled with perseverance and passions from being influenced by her from her
generation.
My generation is Generation Z. When most people think of my generation, they
think we are all about technology, phones and are obsessed with taking selfies. That
is true to some extent but sometimes I like reading a good book over being on my
phone. Also, social media has influenced us and along with that came cyberbullying.
We are the first generation to have so much access to technology throughout our lives.
Her generation is known as Generation Y or Millennials. Most people that are not
in her generation, say her generation doesn t work and are free and flexible. My aunt
is the opposite of all those opinions, she is the hardest working person I know. She
just quit her job to get the job of her dreams. She looked at every job close to her
dream and applied. Most of the jobs she looked at, rejected her but she didn t give up.
She works at her dream job now, even though her employees are the worst. She is
just happy she can make a difference in these people s lives, which I admire how she
could persevere.
My aunt loves to dance more than anything. She would dance every minute she
could, day and night. She would always came over to dance with me, and would
force me to dance with her every time, even I didn t want to. Over time, I would
just dance with her and she didn t have to force me anymore. The more I danced,
the more I loved it. After all the time dancing with her, I decided to go to a dance
studio, try a class and I got on the dance team. It may have taken me a few tries but I
got through it to the good side. She influenced me to do one of my most favorite
passions with perseverance.
My aunt is one of the best artists I know. She can simply look outside or at a
picture and draw it. It looks exactly the same as whatever she is trying to draw. I got
inspired when I was young to do the same thing as
Compare and Contrast Communism, Socialism, and
Capitalism
What is communism? Communism is a term used broadly to designate a theory or
system of social organization based on the holding of all property in common,
actual ownership being ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state. It
refers to the doctrine which underlines the revolutionary movement which aims to
abolish capitalism and ultimately to establish a society in which all goods will be
socially owned, all economic activates socially planned and controlled, and in which
all distributions will be in accordance with the maxim. German author Emil Ludwig
described the maxim as for each according to his capacity, to each according to his
need. (1) It is to be distinguished from socialism which aims by constitutional and

As mentions before socialism is the doctrine that espouses public ownership or
control of a major means of production. It aims to achieve an equitable and efficient
distribution of social goods and greater economic planning then exist under
capitalism. Although the central concerns of socialism appears to be economic its
ramifications extend to the moral, social and political realms, in fact together with
nationalism, it is the leading ideological and political movement of the 20th century.
It is considered to be the transitional phase between the capitalism and communism.
Thus, you would find all communists advocating for socialism because it lays the
foundations for communism. It advocates an egalitarian society where everyone
shares equal wealth and power. There is a considerable disagreement over how the
distribution should take place. Hence, socialism can be said to be between extreme
capitalism and extreme communism with it being nearer to communism. Socialism is
liberal. More people have say in how the economy works. (5) The basic principles of
contempary socialism have their origin in the economic, social and cultural
transformations of Europe which occurred during the 18th and 19th centuries.
Contributing factors were the Industrial Revolution and the rise of the bourgeois and
proletarian classes, the enlightenment s secular and rationalistic view of men and
society, and the democratic demands of the French Revolution. Social ownership and
The Effect Of Nitrogen On The Growth Of A Sapling Essay
Introduction
Nitrogen is an essential nutrient for plant growth, being a key component in the
process of photosynthesis and is a part of the chlorophyll molecule. Nitrogen acts to
increase the amount of the green chlorophyll in plant leaves which allows them to
absorb the optimum amount of sunlight by increasing the surface area of leaves to
hold the chlorophyll and optimum amounts of nitrogen in a plant allow it to produce
enough foliage in order for it to successfully photosynthesise efficiently, therefore
producing the right energy it needs to function.
I am interested to see how the levels of nitrogen in the young saplings, measured
from the leaves of randomly chosen plants, affects the rate at which they grow around
the radius of their trunks and whether there is a significant relationship between the
two. I would expect that certain levels of nitrogen are the most optimal for the growth
of a sapling where enough is present to allow the most efficient production of
photosynthesis in its leaves as the energy produced in this process would allow
growth throughout the rest of the plant. At very low levels I could expect growth
rates of saplings to be very slow or not at all and as the nitrogen levels in a sapling
s leaves increases for the growth rate to increase to a certain extent. There would
however be likely a point where an increase in nitrogen levels does not mean a higher
growth rate as too much can be detrimental to other components in a sapling s health,
Humor And Lust In The Miller s Tale
Geoffrey Chaucer makes an interesting case in The Miller s Tale. He makes readers
wonder if all the characters got what they deserved. Did John deserve to break both
his arms and lose his wife? Did Nicholas deserve to get a blisstered bum? Did
Absolon deserve to be farted on? He uses humor and lust to make a mockery of The
Knight s Tale told before The Miller s Tale. A noble tale followed by a vulgar tale.
John a very gullible and innocent carpenter is married to a beautiful 18 year old who
he knows will make him a cuckold. In The Miller s Tale, Nicholas tells John, There ll
be a fall of rain so fierce a spate Even Noah s Flood was never half so great. (89).
John believes that because Nicholas can supposedly tell if it will rain or not.

Sunday Review section, along with this he has given a TED talk and is very
popular on twitter. He has 873K followers in which will read a tweet from Botton
almost every day. The article that I read is called Why You Will Marry the Wrong

comes to the conclusion that even if we do we must stay loyal and find the person
that we can negotiate differences in taste intelligently (Botton, 2016).

The main point that he is overall saying is that even if people fall into one of these
definitions of marrying the wrong person they must stay with them and not
abandon them, there is no perfect human being out there that can or will satisfy
our every need. Committing ourselves to someone is just identifying what things
that we are okay with living with and what we want to sacrifice or not sacrifice
because there will be weaknesses within everyone that many may not like or
completely agree with. He concludes in saying that the person that is right for
everyone is the one that individuals don t necessarily have the same interests or
agree upon the same opinions but that they can agree to disagree and that they can
tolerate one another s differences and be nice about it. Alain De Botton has a
strong title but doesn t make the point of his article clear in the first couple
paragraphs. By the end of the article he finally gets to the idea but he isn t very
explicit on what he is trying to say or what he wants the audience to hear. One of his
reasons he talks about is how the world that is lived in tends to have an unrealistic
ideal of what marriage might be. He leans towards saying that everyone thinks that
they can take the good feelings they have or have had and bottle it up and feel that
way forever. From what I can assume he believes that it is

The play s overall theme revolves around the lives of performing show business
Drag Queens, and the overall concept of human understanding. The play was
produced and directed by Gregory L. Taylor, and performed by a hulled cast of
both young and old that really did shine. Tick, played by Jonathon Contreras, who I

from that he is also getting a gig.. His wife Marion, although totally okay with his

start some sort of communication with him. Bernadette, performed by Jay Stratton,

Alice Springs, Australia. Bernadette feels iffy, but sure of herself and her
performing abilities, that is until Tick relays the news that someone by the name of

other the seven trunks. (Speare 38) Next, he made fun of Kit s clothes. On page 43 it
says, Her uncle regarded her with scorn. No one in my family has any use for such
frippery, he said coldly. (Speare 43) The last reason why I didn t really get a good

Analysis Of Nicolo Machiavelli s The Prince
NicolГі Machiavelli s The Prince highlights important aspects of successful
leadership and power. The representations of gender and power in this text help to
display the principles and guidelines that would make a leader successful in
Machiavelli s eyes. Throughout The Prince, Machiavelli implies that an individual
with good morals will not obtain power, but rather that an individual who obtains
power is assumed as morally upright by the people. One may wonder how a man
whose reputation was a worshipper of the devil can have a profound impact on the
individuals who live in this current generation; in this text, Machiavelli gives readers
his advice on how to rise to power using history as evidence. Although Machiavelli s
The Princewas written in the 1500s, his work is still being read, praised and applied
to this day, which suggests that his principles really are applicable to anyone.
Machiavelli s advice on power emphasizes that power is a game of deception,
however an individual must master themselves before they can deceive. Through
analyzing Machiavelli s advice on power, one can see how the text contains nuances
about power concepts which can aid individuals to attain power regardless of their
gender. Machiavelli values the concept of gratitude because it illustrates that
individuals must first give to receive, a vital concept for increasing one s power.
Machiavelli emphasizes that individuals must offer what they value highly in life to
win favor with a prince,
Hate Speech Argumentative Essay
Hate speech is speech that is intended to degrade, intimidate, or inflect violence or
prejudicial action against someone based on their race, ethnicity, national origin,
religion, sexual orientation, or based on a disability. Hate speech now includes
messages of gender, sexual orientation, religious views, and physical and mental
inferiority as well.
Hate speech can be harmful when it is applied and plays a critical role in acts of
violence and discrimination against a targeted population. Another way hate speech
can be harm fun is when the harmfulness of hate speech is understood turns not so
much on the ability to act violently, but the view that such words are basically
harmful to those who are targeted. This shows the pattern of abuse that is caused
when abusive speech is directed to a particular target. Hate speech becomes a hate
crime in the United States when the speech contains serious and imminent threat of
violence. The violent would need to be against a person or groups of people to
commit specific criminal acts against those persons.
Hate crime is cyberspace is more difficult to monitor because it has a few advantages
one is that the internet provides alternative ways of communication with little cost. In
addition, the internet also allows the messages to appeal to particular audiences who
might be easy to influence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is mostly seen on college campuses where they encourage learning through
debates. They would not agree with Sage s hypothetical policy because they are
against hate speech. Meaning the policy prohibits hate speech that targets individuals
or groups based on race, gender, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation. Students
would not be allowed to use hate speech in emails, discussion boards, on campus,
and even in the classroom. The ACLU also believes that hate crime should take place
on college campuses to solve problems with

Major Depressive Disorder And Its Variants
Major Depressive Disorder and its variants
Introduction
The nervous system can be considered one of the most complex organ systems in the
human body which is accountable for managing numerous functions that entail the
overall well being of the body. It consists of the Central Nervous System and
Peripheral Nervous System of which participate in voluntary and involuntary
controlled functions. Detrimental effects can occur if there are issues that interfere
with normal functioning of this system that can lead to one of many mental and
physiological illnesses. Notably, Depression is one of the most common mental
ailments that occur in about 6% of adults in America (Mental Health America). It can
be characterized when one displays a lack of ... Show more content on

The list of depression sub types can continue but the aforementioned categories are
ones that are diagnosed from most to least frequently among cases.
Causes
There are several factors that may contribute to depression and depending on the
individual can be rooted from a single or multiple reasons. If one has a family
history of the illness it increases the likelihood to develop it along with
environmental influences that also aid in its progress (CITE 2). Also biological
issues such as neurotransmitter imbalances in the brain can contribute to depression,
for example at the pre and post synapse of a neuronal cell (CITE 2). A pattern of
pessimistic thoughts and low self esteem can proliferate the illness, as a study
conducted exhibited that affected individuals did not improve perceptions of their
depression even after a neurotransmitter imbalance explanation (CITE 4).
Gender also plays a role as depression and its symptoms have been observed in
women more than in men particularly beginning from adolescence until their mid
fifties (CITE 5). It can also occur in conjunction with other illnesses such as cancer,
Parkinson s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer s disease and heart disease
(CITE 2). Lastly the mental disorder can also be triggered by tough life events
endured by an individual for instance passing of a loved one, relationship or financial
hardships can contribute
Sigmund Freud And Machiavelli s Role Of Religion And
Society
Organized societies frequently associate religions with them. The United States is
mostly Christian. North African countries are overwhelming Muslim ( Global ).
Across the world, the number of religions possibly reaches the thousands due to
various sects and circumstances. When analyzing religion, each example has different
origins, but a general understanding of religionis necessary, and an interesting
relationship between religion and society will appear. While one cannot define every
known religion in a concise, comprehensive manner, Merriam Webster defines
religion as a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and
practices. This definition applies to every religion because an individual... Show more

Logically, people make decisions that will create the best result for themselves or
society, so religion provides a strategy in these decisions to maintain a desired moral
standing. One s worldview determines how he treats other people, justifies his
decisions, and prevents natural anxiety, which can become an individual neurosis
(Freud 56). Religion essentially instructs individuals how to respond to every
situation and problem in life, and it connects multiple people through society.
Machiavelli particularly recognized how a society s religion relates people and
levels of power. Religious states are simply states whose rulers and most citizens
share a specific religion. He claims states led by religion are maintained by their
long established institutions and support their rulers in power no matter how they
live and behave (Machiavelli 36), meaning they do not rebel against their ruler and
do not feel the need to overthrow their ruler (Machiavelli 36). If a ruler follows the
same religion as the people, a ruler who whole heartedly follows the religion should
never have any conflicts with the people. This relationship drives good
communication between subjects and rulers, and it builds a level of trust that allows
rulers more freedom to lead how they want,

Companies can gain some control over the publicity it receives by the release of
news items.
Put together, these promotional activities make up the promotional or
communications mix with varying emphasis on each element according to the type
of product or service, characteristics of consumers and company resources. Company
size, competitive strengths and weaknesses and style of management all influence the
promotional mix.
Other communications elements with which promotion must be coordinated are the
product itself, price and distribution channels used. Product communication, including
brand name, design of packaging and trade marks are all product cues which convey
a message about the total product offering. Price can communicate different things
under varying circumstances, for instance conveying В‘prestige appeal for those
buyers who perceive that a high price is equal to quality and prestige. The place in
which the products are to be found also has notable communications value. Retail
stores have В‘personalities that consumers associate with the products they sell.
Products receive a В‘halo effect from the outlets in which they can be found and two
stores selling similar products can project entirely different product images. For
example, a perfume sold through an upmarket store will have

  • 2. The Testament Of Abraham s Story At The Beginning Of Genesis Although the Bible was written thousands of years ago, the lessons expressed by God are just as relevant in today s world. The Bible, specifically the Book of Genesis, consists of stories that seem outdated, however, these stories illustrate moral lessons that will always be applicable in life. The most prominent lesson is that people must have faithin Godin order to trust Him with all of their heart. Particular instances from the lives of Abraham and Joseph provide reasons to believe God is always trustworthy. In the Abraham s story at the beginning of Genesis, God speaks directly to his people and they are able to speak directly back; by the time of Joseph s life, God s presence is less obvious and requires more blind faith. These timeless messages emphasize that all of God s promises are certain and that his followers must grow to faithfully trust Him. The story of Abraham gives followers reason to believe that God s promises are absolute. Abraham s biblical story follows the pattern of God testing his followers faith, blessing them and forming a binding covenant with them. Abraham s story of his faithful journey begins with God saying to him, Leave your country, your kindred and your father s house for a country which I shall show you; and I shall make you a great nation, I shall bless you and make your name famous; you are to be a blessing! (Genesis 12:1 3) Motivated by God s offer of fame and fortune, Abraham left his home in Haran and headed to Canaan with his

By late January, Siegel decided to close temporarily to save funds while he completed construction of the hotel and its planned amenities an Olympic sized pool, nine hole golf course, badminton, handball and tennis courts. He placed a newspaper ad announcing the Flamingo would shut its doors from February 6 to March 1. He boasted of using imported marble and wood among the building materials, and that the Flamingo s guest rooms, conceived by Hollywood designer Tom Douglas, would have private baths with individual connected sewers and tile with a color scheme that harmonizes with drapes and upholstered chairs in the bedroom. • 6. Liver Homeostasis The liver is an important organ which operates the bodys energy metabolism. It acts as a centre point to various tissues like skeletal muscle and adipose tissue. Food is therefore digested in the gastrointestinal tract, and so the glucose, fatty acids and the amino acids are absorbed within the blood stream. Then these are transported to the livervia the portal vein. The liver is controlled by insulin and other metabolic hormones. Glucoseis therefore metabolised in to pyruvate through the process of glycolosis. The pyruvate is then completely oxidised to generate ATP through the TCA cycle and therefore oxidative phosphorylation happens in the mitochondria. Oxaloacetate would be reduced to malate which is then converted in to pyruvate by the malic enzyme which relases NADPH. The pyruvate is then recycled back in to the mitochondria and it is carboxylated by pyruvate carboxylase to make oxaloacetate and this would drive the citrate

The newspaper industry is undergoing a radical change in three primary areas caused by technology. First, the underlying two sided business model is changing. With the Advent of internet, news content is easily and freely available from various sources but lacks quality journalism and credibility. Revenues from circulation in 2011 have marginally increased from 2010. The difference in revenues is $2940M $2323B = $617M and we are only recovering an estimated $118M. There is variable cost savings associated with the loss of print subscribers but this is probably offset with loss of advertising revenue and development costs for digital solutions. Recommendation NYT should continue with its Paywall initiative as upwards of 40% incoming traffic is from other sites i.e. Google, yahoo etc. Internet delivery on mobile devices is also becoming popular. Additionally, lots of users are able to access news content via leaky paywall. This reflects users increasing interest in accessing NYT news content in digital format. Digital edition is in early stages for adoption by end users. New sources and models for revenue generation or sharing are to be discovered and streamlined. Internet will become platform of choice for majority of users in near future. New industry needs to continue exploring methods to present news content to user preferred way and adapt to new and different streams of revenue. The digital edition is in its growth phase heading into maturity. There is still potential to increase and development. Applied Behavioral Analysis Intervention ABA is based on principles of behavioral therapy and is one of the most effective interventions for children that have autism. According to Healy, O Connor, Leader, and Kenny (2008), early intensive behavioral intervention was effective with preschool children that had autism because they reported high achievements in normative functioning, which was measured under practical outcomes and standard psychological methods. The study also concludes that since Applied Behavior Analysisis a treatment, it can fabricate systematic, substantial and durable effects under particular conditions. This study provided an example where 40% to 60 % children before reaching five who had two years and ten months treatment improved well enough that they were ready to be enrolled in public schools. For example Lim and Draper (2011) incorporated music with Applied Behavioral Analysis and found that both of music and ABA were effective and there was no significant differences in between them. Moreover, results specifically indicated that music was as important as speech training to form functional verbal operants in children that have autism. The results also stated that when music is paired with ABA, musical stimuli could enhance verbal production in children with autism. In

All the women were in the union; it was a strong force to backed them up. In 1983, the Equal Value Amendment Regulations passed as an amendment to the Equal Pay Act. The European Court of Justice had found that UK legislation was not sufficient to provide for equal work for equal value for all employees. The Importance Of Drinking Water In Bangladesh Introduction Safe drinking water is essential for healthy life, and United Nations (UN) General Assembly declared safe and clean drinking water as a human right essential to the full enjoyment of life [1]. Moreover, the importance of water, sanitation and hygiene for health and development has been reflected in the outcomes of a series of international policy forums [1]. These have also included health and water oriented conferences, but most importantly in the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) adopted by the General Assembly of the UN in 2000. The UN General Assembly declared the period from 2005 to 2015 as the International Decade for Action, Water for Life [1]. Access to safe drinking water is important as a health and development issue at national, regional and local levels. Bangladesh, a developing country from South Asian (SA) region also takes several steps for ensuring sanitation and safe drinking water facilities among the people. As a result, Bangladesh has made great progress in this sector. The government also claimed that it has achieved the MDG indicator of ensuring safe drinking water for 85% people of the country. According to different demographic and health surveys, the percentage of using improved sources of drinking water is about 98% (reported in the latest two surveys Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) 2012 13 and Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey (BDHS) 2014) [2,3]. But, this achievement statistics are overlooking the shortcomings.

Saint Thomas Aquinas And The Philosophy Of Religion The philosophy of religion addresses not only the ultimate question of, is there a God? , but also the question of, if there is, then what are they like? But also, most importantly of all, philosophy tries to answer what that means for us, as the human race and various societies of which each of us are part of. The concept of God is usually defined by the nature of not having a definition as to why things happen. God is usually said to be unlimited in power, knowledge, and goodness and unknowable to us mere mortals; but these are all traits that are defined by a lack of something unknown. Regardless of the religion, Gods are mainly all seeing but virtually impossible to reach for contact. Philosophy, however, can be defined as, the use of reason in understanding such things as the nature of the real world and existence, the use and limits of knowledge, and the principals of moral judgement[.] This seems to be the opposite of religion and God, as philosophy is questioning; whereas God needs no questions as they are both unseen and unknown. Halevi was born around the year 1080 in Toledo, Spain. His artistic talent was evident from a young age, and his father who was not short of financial means ensured Halevi had the best education possible. Halevi s poems could be broadly categorized as religious or secular. Aside from his poetry, Halevi also wrote the Kitab al Kuzari in Arabic, a Jewish philosophical guide that is one of the most important religious readings in Judaism. Arguably, the line of his work that was connected to the Holy Land was what he was most renowned for within the Jewish world. Arguably Halevi s most famous poem My Heart is in the East captures this yearning perfectly. The line My heart is in the east, and I in the uttermost west the east referring to Israel and the West his location in Europe captures the frustration of being so far away from the land of his people. The poem sums up Halevi s and other Jews plight, being torn between the riches of Spain which is albeit dominated by Muslims and Christians, and Jerusalem s dust where fame and riches do not abound but where the heart is truly at home. The term fetters of Edom can be loosely translated to mean Christianity. The poem would therefore also appear to contain an expression of doubt by Halevi regarding his prospects of ever making it to Zion due to the restrictions and perils placed on travel by Christian and Muslim domination of the Jews and their land. From Jehuda Halevi s Songs to Zion is an apparent continuation of My Heart is in the East with the first stanza containing the entirety of the latter poem. Mrs. Mallard s reaction to the news is considered the crisis in this story. Upon hearing of her husband s death, Louise instantly grasps it (Shmoop) and locks herself in her room to cry. The majority of widows would reject the announcement and insist that their husbands would be coming home any second. Louise proves to be an unusual widow (Shmoop), which drives the story to a unique situation. Since Mrs. Mallard acts like this, readers begin to ponder the intentions of her and the initial vulnerability she possesses. Chopin uses the crisis to lead up to the climax. While readers are questioning Louise, Chopin sneaks in the unusual climax and shocks them. Finally, readers reach the climax. Chopin wonderfully delivers a climax that strikes readers and may be considered disturbing. The purpose of a climax is to declare a high point and reveal any acceptance. In The Story of an Hour acceptance is an understatement. Mrs. Mallard finds herself declaring freedom and feeling relief, by the death of her husband. She no longer dreads her long years to come, but instead welcomes them with open arms. Her sickening feeling of victory confirms her anticipation for life after her husband s death. • 36. The Effect Of Nitrogen On The Growth Of A Sapling Essay Introduction Nitrogen is an essential nutrient for plant growth, being a key component in the process of photosynthesis and is a part of the chlorophyll molecule. Nitrogen acts to increase the amount of the green chlorophyll in plant leaves which allows them to absorb the optimum amount of sunlight by increasing the surface area of leaves to hold the chlorophyll and optimum amounts of nitrogen in a plant allow it to produce enough foliage in order for it to successfully photosynthesise efficiently, therefore producing the right energy it needs to function. I am interested to see how the levels of nitrogen in the young saplings, measured from the leaves of randomly chosen plants, affects the rate at which they grow around the radius of their trunks and whether there is a significant relationship between the two. I would expect that certain levels of nitrogen are the most optimal for the growth of a sapling where enough is present to allow the most efficient production of photosynthesis in its leaves as the energy produced in this process would allow growth throughout the rest of the plant. At very low levels I could expect growth rates of saplings to be very slow or not at all and as the nitrogen levels in a sapling s leaves increases for the growth rate to increase to a certain extent. There would however be likely a point where an increase in nitrogen levels does not mean a higher growth rate as too much can be detrimental to other components in a sapling s health,
