Differences And Similarities Between The Twelvers And Shias
Twelvers are a group in Shia Islam. Making up 12% of Shia Islam makes them the largest group
within that section. Twelvers received their name from previous successors believing in twelve
godlike leaders, or more commonly known as Imams. Twelve male descendants from the
Muhammad family are believed to be Imams with religious and political power. Twelvers
previously belonged to a group called Jafar Sadik. However, Jafar Sadik split into two groups,
the Ismaili and the Musawite (later changed to the Twelvers). In most cases, the Twelvers are
referred to as Shias since the two are so closely related. Although they do seem similar, they do
have their differences. The Twelvers and Shias are relatively similar. However, Twelvers separate

This has allowed the She Runs campaign to be successful in securing more active participants in
the brand community and ultimately growing Nike s customer base. Part of Nike s mission
statement explains, If you have a body, you are an athlete (Nike, 2013). The She Runs campaign is
in line with this mission statement, as they encourage all types of women to get involved and
inspire them to discover their own athletic potential. This motivates women to consider themselves
as athletic, modifying their self schema and therefore shaping their behaviours, perceptions and
motivations in favour of the Nike brand.
Social Psychology, Culture and Attitudes
Nike identified that women have a tendency towards self handicapping behaviour. Women perceive
running in groups as competitive and intimidating, leaving them to overcome running fears and
goals in isolation (AdNewsAus 2013). This is greatly contrasted to the female stereotype and
inclination to discuss and partake in shared experiences (MarketingMag 2013). Nike recognised this
behaviour and turned it into an opportunity through the formation of the She Runs community. Due
to the need of belonging, women have conformed to the actions of those in their reference group
both on and offline in the campaign. Women are connected to those that share their aspirations,
beliefs, attitudes and their ideal self . This community continues to grow due to conformity and how

Elizabeth Barrett Browning And F. Scott Fitzgerald s The...
The universal values portrayed through the texts Sonnets from the Portuguese (1845) by Elizabeth
Barrett Browning and F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby (1926) highlight the similar and
different intertextual perspectives and values relevant to the Victorian Era and 1920 s Jazz Age.
Both composers offer compelling critiques of their society dedicating thematic concerns of the
restorative power of hope and courtly idealised love. Through numerous literal techniques,
substantial diversity arises through the historical context, composer s personal experiences, and
human values.

Edvard Munch Scream
For this purpose of this analysis, I chose to do a piece of artwork that I viewed as very different.
The painting is titled Scream. It was created by an artist named Edvard Munch in the year of 1893.
Munch was a Norwegian artist. This painting has a great significance in Munch s life. This painting
was created during the time of Sigmund Freud. I found this very interesting since Munch himself
lived a very tough life himself. Munch began to express his tormented inner world through his
artistic creations, giving birth to an art style that would later be known as Expressionism(Art
Analysis). Expressionism is defined as a form of art in which visual appearances are distorted to
express psychological or emotional states (Getlein, 551). I believe that Scream may have been the
very beginning of this form of art, since Scream evokes such an emotional response from its
viewers.
The most painful event in Edvard Munch s life was the premature death of his mother from
tuberculosis when he was five years old (Art Analysis). Munch new heartache at such a young age.
Munch also had an older sister named Sophie. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tempera shares qualities with both watercolor and oil paint (Getlein, 161). Munch probably used
tempera because it could withstand the test of time, maintaining its colors without being darkened
by age. Tempera is defined as a paint in which the vehicle is emulsion, which is a stable mixture
of an aqueous liquid with an oil, fat, wax, or resin (Getlein, 161). The other product Munch used in
this painting is casein paint. Casein paints dry to a matte, brittle film that is insoluble in water and
impervious to most paint strippers (Casein Paint). Munch probably chose to use this medium since
if could encase and attach to the tempera paint, providing a protective covering. The painting was
done on cardboard since the casein paint would have been too brittle for regular

The Broken Windows Style Of Policing
Some people think assigning officers to communities can be rewarding and some people think it
is a form of punishment. Whatever the case may be, people need some form of protection.
Crime is very real. Today s violence seems to go far past those standard reasons. As humans,
people tend to overlook or forget who are there to protect the society from disorderly people. The
good order of a community is important to those who lived and worked in the community. In
other words, the little things matter to a person in his or her community. There will always be a
person who cares and will take charge in the community. Arguments have been made that the
application of the Broken Windows style of policing leads to negative results for the poor and
minority residents of the area impacted. The application of the Broken Windows style of policing

Henry Ford1 Essay
Henry Ford1 Octavian Augustus (63 B.C.E 14 AD) is known as the first, and one of the greatest,
Roman Emperors ever. Octavian enabled the long, peaceful time of the Pax Romana by changing
Rome from a fragile, crumbling republican government to a mighty empire. OctavianВ№s
government was strong enough to withstand weak emperors who mismanaged the Empire. His
changes proved to be the cornerstone of the greatest empire the world has ever seen. During the
Conflict of Orders, the lower class Romans, or plebeians, forced the upper class Romans, known
as patricians, to give them more rights and liberties (Hadas 1969). The Republican government in
Rome was established to satisfy the plebeians, while still leaving a majority of the control... Show

He started to accept anyone into the army regardless of whether they owned any land. This
created a vast change in the makeup of the armies. Many poor people decided to join in hopes
that they would benefit financially from any victories. Soldiers became attached to Roman
generals rather than the state because of the possible economic gains (Hanes 1997). The
governmentВ№s separation of the army would prove to be a major problem. Laws could only
be enforced if The Republic controlled the armies. When the army followed a general rather
than the government, the government lost all power. In 90 B.C.E, Roman allies in Italy finally
rebelled against the city. The allies were angry that they were not considered citizens of Rome.
They had benefited little from Roman expansion even though their citizens had served in the
military. After a very bloody campaign, the Social War, as it was called, eventually ended when
the allies were defeated. The Senate, however, decided to grant citizenship to the allies (Hanes
1997). This move expanded the Roman State to all of Italy. As the number of citizens grew, The
Republic became harder and harder to manage. During the Social Wars, one general, Lucius
Cornelius Sulla proved to be very successful in battles. Based on this military success, Sulla was
elected consul in 88 BCE After completing his term, Marius tried to stop Sulla from taking any
military command. Sulla countered by marching his troops on Rome

Should Pluto Be Considered A Planet Essay
Many may urge that Pluto should be considered a planet for it has similar characteristics as the
planets of the Solar System; however, others still believe that Pluto should not be considered a
planet because of its slight differences and conditions that are not matched.
Pluto is recognised by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) as a dwarf planet for it doesn t
match the third condition of what defines a planet. IAU proposed three conditions to becoming a
planet. The first condition being: (a) is in orbit around the Sun; the second condition being: (b) has
sufficient mass for its self gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic
equilibrium (nearly round) shape; the third condition, in which Pluto has not met the standards to,
being:(c) has cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit. Pluto doesn t meet the standards to the
final condition as Pluto follows the orbit path of some asteroid like objects in space and are
surrounded with these objects. If people were to ignore the third condition and recognise Pluto ...

Reporters with interest in Pluto have published many articles related to the matter of whether Pluto
should be considered a planet. Many are opposing the opinion that Pluto should not be considered
a planet as the third condition is very vague. For instance, the Earth s neighbourhood could be
considered as not cleared out as the moon is following it around; Jupiter is continuously having
contact with asteroids named Trojans, and Neptune s orbit crosses over with Pluto s orbit. The
Guardian stated in one of it s articles that Pluto should not have a ban from being a planet due to
its small size. IAU, however, has not made any regards on this criticism. These opposing views
about Pluto may be correct in a way; however, factually speaking, Pluto is still not considered as a
planet as IAU has not made any changes towards its definition of the word,

Persuasive Essay About Homework
Can you agree that lately homework is being largely misguided? Can you agree that homework is
being abused without producing its primary intended results? I highly urge you on behalf of all
students operating through this system; change is needed. The current use of homework may be
contributing to the decline in the motivation of students; therefore, interfering with their academic
potential. Evidently, there has been an abundance of research which shows how homework is
detrimental to a teen s self confidence, social skills, overall health, and most importantly their
attitude towards school. Why am I directing this straight to the teachers? Teachers have full control
over what they hand out and what they demand from students. Teachers also have the authority to
practice their style of teaching and alter them accordingly. Every teacher should consider the
unhealthy and negative outcomes which come with the homework system. In every student s life,
a teacher is another character you will meet who is supposed to guide, motivate, and support you
through your journey in life. Teachers are rather more like mentors. However, this concept has
escaped for a majority of students because of the pressure and the endless amount of stress which
is constantly being stacked on top of each other. In 2013, researchers from Stanford surveyed more
than 4,300 students from high schools in California. One of the questions the researchers asked the
students was; did you experience any

other illnesses. Sanitation in Armall was severely neglected by both the service utility and the

Benefits And Advantages Of Flexible Work Arrangement...
Flexibility is the willingness to change or compromise. When flexibility exists in the
workspace, both the employee and employer maximize their productivity. Workspace is a space
in which employees execute work for the company employing them. Workspace flexibility is
comprised of the decisions made by the company and the employee to better tailor when, where,
and how an individual will work to meet the needs of both the employee and the company.
Workspace flexibility encompasses a large array of arrangements that allow individuals to both
contribute to their firm, while also being able to have a schedule that better suits their needs. A
business s objective is to create a smart management strategy in its workspace that will increase its
productivity while lowering costs, thus making the business more efficient. It is believed that
increasing flexibility can be a means to achieve this. I can be very expensive to do this; however,
the benefits outweigh the costs. Flexible work arrangement strategies can be separated into
categories including scheduled hours, amount of hours, and work location. Flexibility in the
workspace helps employers and employees reach their ultimate goal of maximizing their profit.

The Causes Of Drunk Driving And Driving
Have you ever lost someone close to you because of a bad decision, or a bad decision someone else
made? Drunk driving and driving under the influence of drugs is the leading cause of death in
the United States. Everyday 28 people die in the U.S. because of a drunk or drug impaired
driver. Everybody makes bad choices, even you and me, but there is a difference between a bad
choice and a bad choice that can put others at risk of injury and death. For many people stress is
the reason that drives them to drink or do drugs. The alcoholor drug numbs them to the stress of
school, work, family, money and relationships. Yes, the drugs and alcohol may numb you from
the pain but in reality, it makes everything worse. You can become addicted, you mood changes
and in the end, you may end up hurting others around you. As well, other reasons that cause
people to make these bad decisions include, peer pressure which is a big issue for teens who feel
the need to fit in or want to be viewed as cool, family issues, curiosity, and simply because it is
accessible.
Driving under the influence or DUI is the crime for driving while under the influence of drugs or
alcohol. To be charged with a DUI, you must have a blood alcohol concentration or BAC of 0.08%
or more for drivers 21 years of age or older. If you are under the age of 21, a BAC of 0.02% can be
cited for a DUI. States such as Arizona or North Carolina have a zero tolerance policy for underage

The Pros And Cons Of Prisons In Prison
Throughout mankind, the ideas of power and greed have pushed people to work harder, although
sometimes this can come at a cost. An example of greed hurting other human lives can be
commonly known as the prison complex. This idea establishes that inmate work for a fraction of
the average wage of a civilian. In fact, since America must house the inmates they build one prison
per week (Franklin). One of the reasons contributing to the construction of the prisons were the

offenses. The Prison Industrial Complex pushed companies profits, thus then leading to the
company to push for more people becoming imprisoned for more labor.
In American prisons, inmates have the opportunity allowing them to work a job behind bars, this
helps the prisoner sustain their lives while being imprisoned. Many people believe that prisoners
are adequately paid for their work. Furthermore, the prison industrial complex is filled with
government officials, who profit from the work of the prisoners and the number of prisons (
Prison Industrial Complex ). Industries who employ inmates try to create the maximum profits by
paying prisoners a fraction of the annual wage for a civilian. Although, having a majority of a
company s products created in prisons can also result in an unsteady flow of merchandise.
Manufacturing occurs within prisons, and if a tool or merchandise from the company becomes lost

Prosocial Behavior Paper
Influences on Children s Prosocial Behavior
Prosocial behavior is important to psychologists because it is a significant part of development in
a child. Children learn prosocial behavior from many influences in their lives including parents,
peers, teachers, caregivers, and the media (Williams, O Driscoll, Moore, 2014). Prosocial behavior
is any action intended to help others. Children learn their earliest behaviors from their parents. If a
child never participated in prosocial behavior, there would be negative impacts. Some negative
impacts could include: less likelihood to develop a sense of gratitude, less involvement with others,
and Imitating their parent s actions plays a crucial role in their social interactions throughout the

Prior studies have shown that mimicking promotes prosocial actions, but little research has
been done on who has a greater influence on prosocial behavior in children. The independent
variable of the study will be which adult model is shown in the video of prosocial behavior,
either a parent as a model, and other adult as a model. Each child will be assigned to watch one
of two types of videos in which a parent or an other adult performs a prosocial action. The
dependent variable for this study would be the behavior of the child. The dependent variable will
be measured by the amount of time the child takes to act prosocially. In the control condition, the
participants will not be shown a video and they will just be placed in the possible prosocial
situation. The experiment will observe which adult model has the greatest influence of prosocial
behavior in the participants. The hypothesis of the proposed experiment is participants who watch
a video of their parent acting in a prosocial manner are more likely to behave in a prosocial
manner. This hypothesis comes from a finding that parents have a great influence on a child s
prosocial behaviors throughout

Jade Peony Grandmother
Throughout the short story The Jade Peony by Wayson Choy the character of the grandmother is
shown through her actions, physical descriptions of her, and from the way family members act
with her. The Grandma in this story is a very old fashioned lady, who follows family traditions
beliefs and practices, and teaches valuable lessons to her loving family.
The way someone acts or makes decisions says a lot about a person because it shows their
personality, and defines a character. Grandmother plays a very large role in the family s life. Love
and care is constantly displayed throughout the story, especially since their grandmother lives with
them and makes strong connections which builds their relationships. Through the story the

magical hands. Sek Lung continued to think about how her delicate hands were special when she

The Death Of The Pregnancy Test Essay
Many women find themselves in situations that leave them with an unwanted pregnancy and
abort their baby. The cause of abortion could simply be a birth control failure, from rape or
incest, inability to take care of the child, or in most cases, pressure from others. Whatever the
case may be, these women have chosen to get rid of their child, without thinking of the
consequences after it is done. After a mother chooses to abort her baby, she will be greatly
affected psychologically and could possibly change her and her future family s life forever.
Before the procedure is done, the mother of the child is positive about her decision, unaware of the
mental experiences she will be going through. Nonetheless, after the operation is done, the mother
will experience personal shame that could result in repressed grief, causing serious problems.
The anxiety over the unwanted pregnancy; the drama of the pregnancy test; often, the difficulty of
making the decision, then the waiting before the abortion can take place; perhaps protesters in front
of the clinic; the abortion clinic waiting room, crowded perhaps with other emotional women and
men; the abortion itself the doctors and nurses, the stirrups, the vacuum or other machinery then the
recovery room; the pain and bleeding afterward. All these dramatic experiences are likely to
provide her with indelible memories. A woman may return to them and relive them over and over.

William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night And Thomas Middleton...
The Renaissance: Essay 1 revisited
The Renaissance was a time of cultural and social revolution in England, at least in the south of it.
The plays and playwrights of the time challenged the societal norms and pushed boundaries into
never before thought of areas, this essay will show how Renaissance drama was subversive and
created the world we live in today. The two plays I will be focusing on are: William Shakespeare s
Twelfth Night and Thomas Middleton s Women beware Women . Both share similar themes yet go
about them very differently to one another.
Twelfth Night (or What You Will ) was written in 1601, near the middle of Shakespeare s career,
and a mere 15 years before his death in 1616. Considered by many critics as one of his greatest
comedies, Twelfth Night is about deception, disguises and madness, along with the bizarre things
caused by love itself. This play is also one of Shakespeare s plays that include a female
protagonist, pretending to be a man. (At the time of the play all parts where played by men, so
Viola would have been a man pretending to be a women who was also pretending to be a man!)
Viola, the female protagonist, like many of Shakespeare s heroines is likeable from the get go
with no real character flaws to note of and no serious faults to note of. (Discounting her decision
to dress as a man, as it sets the plot in motion.) And while other character s love is a fickle thing,
such as Orsino who can t decide between Olivia and

Application of Grand Theory to Nursing Practice In today s world there are many nursing theories

Accounting For Proceeds From The Issuance Of Convertible...
1.The differences in accounting for proceeds from the issuance of convertible bonds and of debt
instruments with separate warrants to purchase common stock.
Convertible debts are long term securities which can be converted into issuer s stock options at a
specified conversion ratio, if the debt holder wants to exercise them. Convertibles include bonds and
preferred shares, but most commonly take the form of bonds. Convertible bonds are a type of
compound financial instrument with characteristics of both liability and equity.
Convertibles are appealing to investors who are looking for an investment with greater growth
potential than that offered by a traditional bond. By purchasing a convertible bond, the investor can

Convertible debt and debt with stock warrants differ in that: (1) if the market price of the stock
increases sufficiently, the issuer can force conversion of convertible debt into common stock by
calling the issue for redemption, but the issuer cannot force exercise of the warrants; (2)
convertible debt may be essentially debt, whereas debt with stock warrants is debt with the
additional right to acquire equity; and (3) the conversion option and the convertible debt are
inseparable and, in the absence of separate transferability, do not have separate values established in
the market; whereas debt with detachable stock warrants can be separated into debt and the right to
purchase stock, each having separate values in the market.
When the debt instrument and the option to acquire common stock are inseparable, as in the case
of convertible bonds, the entire proceeds of the bond issue are allocated to the debt and the related
premium or discount accounts.
When the debt and the warrants are separable, the proceeds of their sale are allocated between
them. The basis of allocation is their relative fair values. As a practical matter, these relative
values are usually determined by reference to the price in the open market. The portion of the
proceeds assigned to the warrants are accounted for as paid in capital. The result may be that the
debt is issued at a reduced premium or at a

Charter Schools Vs Magnet Schools
Introduction
Charter schools and magnet schools are becoming more and more common in the education of high
school students. This topic is important because of the question why are parents wanting to take
their children out of traditional public schools? This essay will educate the reader on the history of
charter and magnet public schools and the migration of high school students to these particular
schools. Each year, more and more students leave traditional public schools for alternative forms
of schooling. Two of the options parents decide to use instead of public schools are charter schools
and magnet schools. Both of these types of schools are still considered public schools in the fact
that they are not able to charge tuition and are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These schools attract students who possess gifted abilities in areas such as academics and fine
arts. Most of the time magnet schools require high test scores or another form of testing to obtain
admission. (Nicholas and Sinclair, 2015). Parents are attracted to these schools because one may
attend a magnet school through school choice outside of his or her respective school zone. With
magnet schools typically located in urban areas, the student population most of the time is very
culturally and racially diverse. Student diversity is generally an incentive to attend a school. The
presumption of magnet schools is that they will attract a cross section of students across all racial,
socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds (Parrillo, 2015). As stated earlier, magnet schools were
created for this very reason. Students who attend magnet schools usually have an exceptional
ability in one subject matter. Different magnet schools specialize is different areas of education
Magnet schools usually have programmatic differences or unique themes opposed to neighborhood
schools revolving around the creative and performing arts, open structured classes, and career
options (Parrillo, 2015). Magnet schools are also attractive to parents whose children attend inner
city schools because inner city schools usually have low graduation rates and low average yearly
progress.

Taking a Look at Resource Utilization
The Earth is a closed system with finite resources which can be utilized; However polarized views
of the limit in the functional availability of non renewable resources exist between the
Cornucopians and Neo Malthusians. Regardless of the disparity between the views of the
Cornucopians and Neo Malthusians, both ideologies are valid in their rationalization and their
arguments are augmented with strong supporting arguments drawn from historical facts. Despite
arguments being drawn from a shared history the Cornucopians and Neo Malthusians have
developed conflicting views that share no commonalities. In essence the Cornucopians may be
described as optimist or idealists whereas the Neo Malthusians would be considered pessimists or
realists.
The Cornucopians believe that human ingenuity and technological advancements will solve global
resource issues. The combination of the discovery of new reserves, technological evolutions
providing substitutes for presently declining resources, and improved efficiencies in resource
extraction, manufacturing and other processes will continually provide solutions to emergent
issues. Furthermore, as it is believed that technology will continue to evolve and provide solutions
to satisfy the needs of the human species, the environment therefore imposes no real limits to
growth.
Cornucopians such as Sir John Maddox argue that resource depletion is an unfounded issue as
classic economic philosophies of supply and demand would result in an

Changing views about Community
The definition of the term community has a long and detailed history, encapsulating concerns of
belonging and identity, time and place, difference and similarity, exclusion or inclusion. There is
no much social literature about this concept before 1910. In 1915, C.J Galpin is the first one
who coins it, offering a clear sociological definition . It was used to demarcate the small rural
communities in terms of service area and trade surrounding a central village. (Harper and Dunham
1959). This first attempt of defining the community, was quickly followed by various competing
definitions. Some of them described community as a geographical area, others, focused on
community as a group of people living and sharing a particular location, place, while another
category, looked at it as a common area of life. For example, Frazer

Identification Of Unknown Organisms And Two Eukaryotes
Identification of Unknown Organisms

Introduction
The purpose of this study is to identify four unknown organisms. The unknown organisms have
been assigned randomly to six research groups by Professor Hoffman. Each research group was
provided two eukaryotes and two prokaryotes. The unknown organisms will fall into the following
classifications: bacteria, algae, fungi, or protozoans. All living organisms are organized into one of
three domains of life, Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukarya.
The Domain Bacteria
Bacteria and Archaea are prokaryotic, which are mostly single celled incomplex microorganisms.
Both Bacteria and Archaea have a variety of prokaryotes classified in multiple kingdoms (Reece, et
al., Campbell Biology, 2014). There are a number of scientists who believe that Archaea cells may
be the precursor to Eukaryotic cells and that they have more in common with Eukaryotes than
Prokaryotes (Madigan, Martinko, Dunlap, 2009).
Prokaryotes are ubiquitous, successfully adapting to diverse environments as well as developing
symbiotic relationships with host organisms (Lengeler, Drews, Schlegel, 1999). Prokaryotes may
have both autotrophic and heterotrophic characteristics. A cyanobacteria is photosynthetic,
commonly called blue green algae, and may produce toxins (Crayton, 1993). Bacteria are most
commonly associated in the general

Analysis Of The 1918 Influenza Pandemic
Scientists studies have led to a greater understanding of the 1918 influenza pandemic. Through
conducting tests on the remains of victims, as well as consulting morgues, and numerous accounts
of that time period, scientists have finally come up with a theory and solution for influenza.
By comparing recent flu strains with the 1918 influenza scientists found reasons to believe that
the1918 influenza pandemic began as a bird virus. The bird virus would have adapted to humans
overtime eventually becoming as deadly to humans as it had been to birds. Once the virus adapted
to humans it was spread through the physicality of a handshake or hug which is highly common
among humans.
In 1918 no one knew why people were getting sick and dying. There was

Evaluation Of A State Physical Activity Plan
Project Title: Implementation of a state physical activity plan: Realist evaluation of policy
implementation and the need to know what works (and what doesn t)
Problem Statement
While research on physical activity promotion has historically been on the impact of individual
level behavioral interventions, there has been substantial progress in identifying the role of
policymaking in creating population wide improvements (Brownson et al., 2007; Frank Kavage,
2009; Humpel, Owen, Leslie, 2002). As a result of the increasing evidence of modifying the built
environment through policy interventions (Kahn et al., 2002), the Center of Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and Department of Health and Human
Services (DHHS) recommend these as a means of increasing physical activity in communities.
Nevertheless, little is known about how to quantify levels of policy implementation related to
physical activity in order to understand and appropriately interpret policy outcomes at the state and
local levels (Ogilvie et al., 2010; Sallis, Story, Lou, 2009). A process evaluation of the
implementation of a state level physical activity plan is proposed to improve our understanding of
the mechanisms of policy implementation using a realist evaluation method.
Analytic Framework
The need for evidence related to policy influences regarding physical activity are increasing in
importance as government, communities, and health professionals

Scarlet Begonias/Fire on the Mountain Essay
Michael Peller has been a fan of the Grateful Dead for as long as he can remember. As a child, he

The Grateful Dead debuted in 1965 in Palo Alto, CA. It was known for its eclectic, psychedelic rock
style, which was sculpted amid the San Franciscan countercultural movement of the 1960s. The
movement gained speed alongside the civil rights movement and hippie culture. The Grateful Dead
embraced these new beliefs in their songwriting, rejecting common structure by adopting the jam

also had rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes, a line that has stuck with Mike because of
how the image reminds him of the 70s, and as an extension, the ideas of freedom and being
carefree. Mike doesn t have much of an opinion about the lyrics of Fire on the Mountain , but he
does love the rhythm and the bass guitar because it just makes anybody want to dance (Michael
Peller). However, I found the lyrics to be meaningful in ways related to Mike s enjoyment of the
song. The line, fire, fire on the mountain , is repeated throughout the song, and almost sounds like

Television And Commercialism Essay
Television and Commercialism
Television is populated with images which are superficial and lack depth.
Programs look more like ads and ads look more like programs. All this leads to a close circle of
consumerism. The three excerpts relate to these unifying ideas thus the validity of their argument.
quot;Surface is all; what you see is what you get. These images are proud of their standing as
images. They suggest that the highest destiny of our time is to become cleansed of depth and
specificity altogether. quot; (1). We live in a world populated by images. Children s television has
concocted small, preset groups of images such as rainbows for happiness, red hearts for warmth, ...

quot;Television, with all its highly touted diversity, seems to becoming more of a piece, more a
set of permutations of a single cultural constant: television, our debased currency. quot; (4). TV
looks like TV and when you look at it deeper it takes you back to itself, this is referred to as
homogeneity. quot; But even as television becomes television plus, it remains the national dream
factory, bulletin board, fun house mirror for distorted images of our national desires and fears...And
yet non of the metaphors seems quite right, because finally television is not quite anything else. It
is just television. quot; (5).
Ads are becoming to look more like programs with the use of narrative strategies called quot;mini
narratives. quot; This strategy is used in a particular
Pepsi commercial which models the TV show Miami Vice. It features Don Johnson and the music
of Glenn Fry. It is almost as if the commercial is a three minute episode of the show. Similarly
programs are beginning to look like ads. When
Price Adam pulls out his sword in the show He Man, he is encircled with lively, lightning flashes as
he shouts in a deep, echoing, voice, quot;By the power of
Grayskull... I have the power! quot; He then transforms into He Man . This appears to be a
commercial for the He Man action figure and sword of power. There is a history behind program
length commercial. A cartoon Hot Wheels , which is also the name of a

The Role Of The Women
The role of the women in ministry is a controversial topic that has divided Christendom today.
There are those who hold the fact that women have a right to positions in ministry while others
are against following some quotations from the word of God. Those who hold the view of
women becoming elders and preachers in churches today, protest the fact that we are all one
before God. There is neither male nor female following Galatians 3: 26 28. This is to confidently
assert the fact that the sexes are joint heirs with Christ of full salvation. Some are standing on the
fact that God gave the Holy Spirit to His children including male and female for the propagation of
His kingdom (I Corinthian 12:7). From the creation story in (Genesis... Show more content on

Actually women played crucial role in the early church: they assisted in composing letters
(Romans 16:22), carried apostles messages to local churches (I Cor. 4:17), sought to encouraged
the believers on Paul s behalf (I Thes. 3:2), reported to Paul about the state of the churches under
their care ( I Thes. 3:6) and some them hosted churches in their homes (I Cor. 16:19). We have to
be like the Bereans to carefully study and be able to rightly divide. God does not change but He
changes His administration in different dispensations. I do believe Paul was called as an apostle to
the church the body of Christ, therefore whatever pattern he gave us as pertaining leadership in the
church should be strictly followed without questions. There two main passages in the New
Testament that Paul gives which might seem to be prohibition against the ministry of women I
Corinthians 14:34; I Timothy 2:12). It will be good to go through theses scriptures and bring out
the truth of what Paul intended. I Corinthians 14:34 35, Paul wrote: As in all the congregations of
the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. Thy were not allowed to speak, but must
be in submission, as the law says. If they want to know about something, they should ask their own
husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in church. I believe Paul made this
statement due to the rampant disorder that was going on at the Corinthian church.

homelessness can and cannot own (City of Chicago 2016: 2). The ownership of any possession
beyond those specified on the list can be confiscated or completely destroyed by city officials and,
if non compliant to the destruction of their property, those experiencing homelessnesscan be
arrested. Such regulations and seizures can constitute violations in both the Fourth and the Fifth

The increasing prevalence of restrictions on people experiencing homelessness does little to
effectively confront the increasing homelessness in big U.S. cities. In fact, such restrictions have a
potential domino effect. A given community s efforts to force its homeless residents out, if
successful, will drive them into neighboring communities; these communities may then in turn
pursue similar efforts (26). The criminalization of homelessness is, in effect, a set of policies and
laws that constitute banishment and therefore do more to serve the more affluent and more stable
housed populations in than the people experiencing homelessness that may, quite literally, be left

The Physical Environment Of The Classroom
The physical environment of the classroom
As I walked into the classroom, I noticed many visuals, hands on materials, child size tables and
chairs. The visuals around the classroom were pictures/ descriptions that can help the children
identify things around the room. For example: centers, a word wall that consisted of sight words
that they have learned in the past and words that are being added, shapes and colors, a calendar,
classroom rules, and a sign language chart so that the children can learn his or her alphabets in
sign language. In addition, the children s authentic artwork were posted on the art board. For a
large group of 15 children, the classroom space was very limited. In this specific classroom, the
ratio was 2:15 (1 teacher, 1 aide and 15 children) and this classroom isn t shared with another class.
The classroom has two long tables with six chairs per table: six red chairs and six blue chairs. The
cooperating teacher explained that she has a red table and blue table because she wanted to
separate specific friends due to behavioral issues. For circle time, the teacher has a rocking chair
right in front of the circle time mat and everything on the circle time board is to the children s eye
level and child size. The circle time rug is big enough so that the children have space and they can
see and hear the teacher. So far from what I have observed, the children have access to books,
crayons, markers, writing utensils such as pencils, and journals.

The Four Ws Of Power In Shakespeare s Tempest
The Four W s of Power
Power is an incredibly complicated, yet simple mechanism people take advantage of, and it
essentially defines every interaction between anyone. None of it is simple to understand, and
both power and control can be expressed in vastly different ways. The four W s are the four most
common ways power is demonstrated or obtained, and there are real world examples, and even
examples in Shakespeare s Tempest that demonstrate these W s being used. Now what are the four
W s?
The first W is to control when an interaction begins. The person who begins an interaction
demonstrates that they are in charge. In Shakespeare s Tempest, this is demonstrated incredibly
obviously in the conversations between Prospero, and Ariel, Prospero s spiritual servant. Come
away, servant, come. I am ready now. Approach my Ariel. Come. (Shakespeare, Act 1, Sc. 2, Line
222 223). Almost every single time Ariel appears in the play, he is being summoned. This shows
Prospero s power over Ariel by showing that he can begin the interaction whenever he wants.
Another potential way this could demonstrate power is if the conversation is hesitated. If no words
are being said and if no action is being done, it is the person that is most comfortable in this silence
and stillness that demonstrates power.
The next of the four W s is who. Controlling who someone has power over is just as, if not more
important to maintaining control as any of the other 3 points. In Shakespeare s Tempest, Prosperous

Abraham Lincoln s Accomplishments
Abraham Lincoln was a very ambitious man who was always trying to get new information, or
learn some type of new skill. Even when Lincoln was young he had an urge to learn. He moved to
Illinois in 1830, where he obtained several jobs that taught him a strong work ethic. Later on he
moved to New Salem where he became a businessman, and gained many skills that he would use
throughout his life as a political leader. After moving to Springfield, Lincoln s political career began
to take shape. Living on the frontier taught Lincoln a lot, he learned many skills, and different ways
to interact with people. From businessman, to politician, to sixteenth president Lincoln s journey to
greatness began in the tranquil fields of Illinois. Although he began... Show more content on

During the two hundred mile long journey, the family traveled with thirteen other people, and took
three wagons. (Abraham Lincoln the Prairie Years and the War Years 15). Lincoln, now twenty
two years old, drove one of the wagons (lincoln.lib.niu). When they arrived Lincoln was stuck
out on his own. He had made a living off of manual labor in the past. He was known for his skills
in welding, and handling an ax. Being on his own and doing manual labor taught Lincoln even
further about the benefits of hard work (biography). A short time after living in Illinois, Lincoln
landed a job working on a river flat boat, hauling freight down the mississippi river to New
Orleans (history). One spring day in April as Lincoln headed down the Mississippi River, one of
the flat boats became stranded on the dam. The men had tried to float the boat over the dam but
it was stuck, and was threatening to sink. Lincoln took charge, and went ashore to borrow an
auger at Onstot s coopershop, he returned and boarded a hole in the bow allowing the water to
run out. He then plugged the hole and the boat with lightened cargo was eased over the dam.
The owner of the boat introduced himself as Denton Offutt. The villagers stared at Lincoln with
interest. Offutt hired Lincoln, his step brother, and cousin to take the flat boat to New Orleans.
Upon his return, Lincoln would be in charge of mill operations. His task would be to build a
boat with rollers to enable it to get over shoals and create runners for use on ice (Platt 60). Along
his journey down the Mississippi River, Lincoln spent much time delivering speeches to the trees,
stumps, rows of corn, and potatoes, little did he know that he was preparing himself for his first
ever political speech in favor of improving the navigation on the Sangamon River (Abraham

Quantum Dots Lab Report
Pre Lab for the Quantum Dots Lab
Sara Lyons, Aleye Momodu, and Sam Winslow
Goal: Synthesize Cadmium Selenide (CdSe) Quantum Dot Crystals using Cadmium Oxide (CdO)
and Selenium (Se) dissolved in Triphenylphosphine solution. The product created will be a
colloidal solution, bound to the exterior of the crystal lattice and it remains soluble in the
octadecene (Boatman Nordell). Along with this the product will most likely vary in color as well
due to the changes in wavelength, energy and transitions, that all correspond to a smaller crystal.
The variations in particle size will prove to be an important feature in the experiment, so the goal
is to use diverse size particles. The crystals are created in a solution in which they cannot be filtered
out since they do not settle.
Background of the Chemistry: Cadmium Selenide is an inorganic compound that is widely used for
research on nanoparticles. Cadmium Oxide is an inorganic compound that is mostly used for
creating other cadmium compounds because it crystallizes in a lattice like that of NaCl. Selenium
is an element that has nonmetal properties, but it is rarely ever found in its pure state, it is often
found as a compound. Both, selenium and cadmium are used to synthesize the CdSe used in this
experiment. Although these materials can be very hazardous, it has been proven that using these
items are the best option for this synthesis. The reasoning for this includes the temperature needed
to grow them and they have higher

The Anzio Breakout Essay
January 22, 1944 the sun is shining, and there is quite wind blowing across the beach of Anzio.
In the next two days this beach will be covered in upwards of 30,000 allied troops and will see
some of the bloodiest fighting of the war in the next four months. Anzio was originally supposed to
be a distraction that Sir Alexander could use to breach the Gustav line. However, after a failure to
immediately push towards Rome the allieswould be trapped in trench warfare and would be forced
to breakout of Anzio. This was, simply enough, called the Anzio Breakout. The escape from Anzio
was comprised of the plan and its flaw, the invasion, and the Breakout. The allied commander Sir
Alexander felt that he would be unable to take Rome unless a... Show more content on

In the next week the Allies moved in seven miles fighting off the scattered but increasing
Germans. As the moved along the Anzio Albano Road toward Campoleone, they captured the
town of Aprilia, which created a massive dent in enemy lines, but were unbale to breakout of the
beachhead. Although they met some heavy resistance on the way to Cisterna and Littoria, that
eventually halted their advance, they managed to increase their numbers, and built anti air guns
impairing the German Luftwaffe. Despite their progress because they did not immediately drive
towards Rome the Germans were able to recover and retaliate. Most of the German counterstrikes
were random air raids on the snarl of trenches the allies had dug. The allies broken and weary
from the random barrage of artillery were more then ready to escape the trenches of Anzio and
head towards the capital Rome.
They got their chance on May 12, 1944. On this date the Fifth and Eighth corps retaliated with their
long anticipated offensive against the Gustav Line, finally allowing them to capture Cassino
successively breaking the Gustav Line. Playing to the advantage of the turbulent status in the
central mountains, and using an Allied artillery barrage, along with armor and infantry assaults
along the Anzio, the Cisterna front was opened. On May 23rd, The Allies were able to rupture the
German main line of resistance using air

Various Biogeochemical Cycles In Our Biosphere Allow For
Various biogeochemical cycles in our biosphere allow for the sustainability of living organisms,
with each cycle being composed of numerous interactions between the environment and the
organisms living within them. In particular, the nitrogen cycle is a key component allowing for the
movement of nitrogen throughout the biosphere via several biologically mediated processes,
particularly nitrification. Nitrification is one of the most well known processes in microbial
ecology and has always been considered to occur in a two step manner, involving the initial
oxidation of ammonia (NH3) to nitrite (NO2 ) and the subsequent oxidation of nitrite (NO2 ) to
nitrate (NO3 ) (Kowalchuk Stephen, 2001). The vastly diverse microorganisms mediating... Show

Though Nitrospira like most other NOB have not yet been thoroughly studied or cultured, recent
studies especially by van Kessel and colleagues (2015) a month prior to the publication of this
study identified the existence of possible complete ammonia oxidizing organisms, coined the term
comammox organisms (van Kessel et al., 2015). The study presented in this paper illustrates the
discovery of the first cultured comammox organism Candidatus Nitrospira inopinata, from its
discovery in a microbial biofilm to its genomic analysis.
Experiment Daims and colleagues (2015) initiated the study in Aushiger, Russia in April 2011,
following the sampling of a microbial biofilm situated on a metal pipe constantly under the flow of
hot water, from a 1200 meter deep oil exploration well. Using the biofilm as an inoculum, it was
incubated at 46вЃ° C in an ammonium containing mineral medium for the enrichment of
moderately thermophilic ammonia oxidizing microbes. Following several serial dilutions in a
similar AOM medium, the enrichment culture ENR4 was cultivated. The ENR4 culture was now
scaled up to obtain enough biomass for DNA extraction, and various other analyses including phase
contrast microscopy, electron microscopy, FISH, PCR and metagenomics. From the early

I First Visited The Virtual Holocaust Museum Website And...
When I first visited the virtual Holocaust Museum website and researched the bodies of the site it
represented discrimination and bigotry. The action taken upon the innocent the dominant leader
Adolf Hitler and the members of his group carried out Jews. The website classified the term
Genocide to commit violent crimes against groups with the intent to destroy the existence of the
group. The central issue raised by the site is informing people the awareness of Genocide. When I
was looking into the cases mentioned on the website many of the cases are racial profiling against
culture, religion and race. During the Holocaustthe Nazis were a group that had wealth and power.
According to Koppelman, during slavery, African Americans dead bodies were tossed overboard
for the sharks to eat (pg106). From reading this example, the Nazis were torturing the Jewsand
throwing their lifeless bodies around. This site raises awareness about genocide and how it
occurred during the Holocaust. My schema has changed tremendously because I knew very little
facts about the Holocaust. I thought that the Jews were just being hated on and not being killed
and slaughtered by the Nazis. I read the Anne Frank passage and she expressed how she felt
during the time of the Holocaust and how it was a disgrace and how the Nazis were destroying
the values and beliefs of the Jews. This reminds me of how immigrants come into the United States
and were forced to be Americanize because of the United States

  • 2. Differences And Similarities Between The Twelvers And Shias Twelvers are a group in Shia Islam. Making up 12% of Shia Islam makes them the largest group within that section. Twelvers received their name from previous successors believing in twelve godlike leaders, or more commonly known as Imams. Twelve male descendants from the Muhammad family are believed to be Imams with religious and political power. Twelvers previously belonged to a group called Jafar Sadik. However, Jafar Sadik split into two groups, the Ismaili and the Musawite (later changed to the Twelvers). In most cases, the Twelvers are referred to as Shias since the two are so closely related. Although they do seem similar, they do have their differences. The Twelvers and Shias are relatively similar. However, Twelvers separate the main ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This calls for new approaches, strategies, organizations and understandings. Based on a relevant case/problem, account for and discuss how a psychological perspective can qualify those. This has allowed the She Runs campaign to be successful in securing more active participants in the brand community and ultimately growing Nike s customer base. Part of Nike s mission statement explains, If you have a body, you are an athlete (Nike, 2013). The She Runs campaign is in line with this mission statement, as they encourage all types of women to get involved and inspire them to discover their own athletic potential. This motivates women to consider themselves as athletic, modifying their self schema and therefore shaping their behaviours, perceptions and motivations in favour of the Nike brand. Social Psychology, Culture and Attitudes Nike identified that women have a tendency towards self handicapping behaviour. Women perceive running in groups as competitive and intimidating, leaving them to overcome running fears and goals in isolation (AdNewsAus 2013). This is greatly contrasted to the female stereotype and inclination to discuss and partake in shared experiences (MarketingMag 2013). Nike recognised this behaviour and turned it into an opportunity through the formation of the She Runs community. Due to the need of belonging, women have conformed to the actions of those in their reference group both on and offline in the campaign. Women are connected to those that share their aspirations, beliefs, attitudes and their ideal self . This community continues to grow due to conformity and how individuals match ... Scott Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby (1926) highlight the similar and different intertextual perspectives and values relevant to the Victorian Era and 1920 s Jazz Age. Both composers offer compelling critiques of their society dedicating thematic concerns of the restorative power of hope and courtly idealised love. Through numerous literal techniques, substantial diversity arises through the historical context, composer s personal experiences, and human values. The restorative power of hope is a significant universal value in the setting of the Victorian era focusing on female empowerment. Browning cultivates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Edvard Munch Scream For this purpose of this analysis, I chose to do a piece of artwork that I viewed as very different. The painting is titled Scream. It was created by an artist named Edvard Munch in the year of 1893. Munch was a Norwegian artist. This painting has a great significance in Munch s life. This painting was created during the time of Sigmund Freud. I found this very interesting since Munch himself lived a very tough life himself. Munch began to express his tormented inner world through his artistic creations, giving birth to an art style that would later be known as Expressionism(Art Analysis). Expressionism is defined as a form of art in which visual appearances are distorted to express psychological or emotional states (Getlein, 551). I believe that Scream may have been the very beginning of this form of art, since Scream evokes such an emotional response from its viewers. The most painful event in Edvard Munch s life was the premature death of his mother from tuberculosis when he was five years old (Art Analysis). Munch new heartache at such a young age. Munch also had an older sister named Sophie. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tempera shares qualities with both watercolor and oil paint (Getlein, 161). Munch probably used tempera because it could withstand the test of time, maintaining its colors without being darkened by age. Tempera is defined as a paint in which the vehicle is emulsion, which is a stable mixture of an aqueous liquid with an oil, fat, wax, or resin (Getlein, 161). The other product Munch used in this painting is casein paint. Casein paints dry to a matte, brittle film that is insoluble in water and impervious to most paint strippers (Casein Paint). Munch probably chose to use this medium since if could encase and attach to the tempera paint, providing a protective covering. Whatever the case may be, people need some form of protection. Crime is very real. Today s violence seems to go far past those standard reasons. As humans, people tend to overlook or forget who are there to protect the society from disorderly people. The good order of a community is important to those who lived and worked in the community. In other words, the little things matter to a person in his or her community. There will always be a person who cares and will take charge in the community. • 11. Henry Ford1 Essay Henry Ford1 Octavian Augustus (63 B.C.E 14 AD) is known as the first, and one of the greatest, Roman Emperors ever. Octavian enabled the long, peaceful time of the Pax Romana by changing Rome from a fragile, crumbling republican government to a mighty empire. OctavianВ№s government was strong enough to withstand weak emperors who mismanaged the Empire. His changes proved to be the cornerstone of the greatest empire the world has ever seen. During the Conflict of Orders, the lower class Romans, or plebeians, forced the upper class Romans, known as patricians, to give them more rights and liberties (Hadas 1969). The Republican government in Rome was established to satisfy the plebeians, while still leaving a majority of the control... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He started to accept anyone into the army regardless of whether they owned any land. This created a vast change in the makeup of the armies. Many poor people decided to join in hopes that they would benefit financially from any victories. Soldiers became attached to Roman generals rather than the state because of the possible economic gains (Hanes 1997). The governmentВ№s separation of the army would prove to be a major problem. Laws could only be enforced if The Republic controlled the armies. When the army followed a general rather than the government, the government lost all power. In 90 B.C.E, Roman allies in Italy finally rebelled against the city. The allies were angry that they were not considered citizens of Rome. They had benefited little from Roman expansion even though their citizens had served in the military. After a very bloody campaign, the Social War, as it was called, eventually ended when the allies were defeated. The Senate, however, decided to grant citizenship to the allies (Hanes 1997). This move expanded the Roman State to all of Italy. As the number of citizens grew, The Republic became harder and harder to manage. During the Social Wars, one general, Lucius Cornelius Sulla proved to be very successful in battles. Based on this military success, Sulla was elected consul in 88 BCE After completing his term, Marius tried to stop Sulla from taking any military command. • 12. Should Pluto Be Considered A Planet Essay Many may urge that Pluto should be considered a planet for it has similar characteristics as the planets of the Solar System; however, others still believe that Pluto should not be considered a planet because of its slight differences and conditions that are not matched. Pluto is recognised by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) as a dwarf planet for it doesn t match the third condition of what defines a planet. IAU proposed three conditions to becoming a planet. The first condition being: (a) is in orbit around the Sun; the second condition being: (b) has sufficient mass for its self gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium (nearly round) shape; the third condition, in which Pluto has not met the standards to, being:(c) has cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit. Pluto doesn t meet the standards to the final condition as Pluto follows the orbit path of some asteroid like objects in space and are surrounded with these objects. If people were to ignore the third condition and recognise Pluto ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reporters with interest in Pluto have published many articles related to the matter of whether Pluto should be considered a planet. Many are opposing the opinion that Pluto should not be considered a planet as the third condition is very vague. For instance, the Earth s neighbourhood could be considered as not cleared out as the moon is following it around; Jupiter is continuously having contact with asteroids named Trojans, and Neptune s orbit crosses over with Pluto s orbit. The Guardian stated in one of it s articles that Pluto should not have a ban from being a planet due to its small size. IAU, however, has not made any regards on this criticism. These opposing views about Pluto may be correct in a way; however, factually speaking, Pluto is still not considered as a planet as IAU has not made any changes towards its definition of the word, ... • 13. Persuasive Essay About Homework Can you agree that lately homework is being largely misguided? Can you agree that homework is being abused without producing its primary intended results? I highly urge you on behalf of all students operating through this system; change is needed. The current use of homework may be contributing to the decline in the motivation of students; therefore, interfering with their academic potential. Evidently, there has been an abundance of research which shows how homework is detrimental to a teen s self confidence, social skills, overall health, and most importantly their attitude towards school. Why am I directing this straight to the teachers? Teachers have full control over what they hand out and what they demand from students. Teachers also have the authority to practice their style of teaching and alter them accordingly. Every teacher should consider the unhealthy and negative outcomes which come with the homework system. In every student s life, a teacher is another character you will meet who is supposed to guide, motivate, and support you through your journey in life. Teachers are rather more like mentors. However, this concept has escaped for a majority of students because of the pressure and the endless amount of stress which is constantly being stacked on top of each other. In 2013, researchers from Stanford surveyed more than 4,300 students from high schools in California. One of the questions the researchers asked the students was; did you experience any ... An example of greed hurting other human lives can be commonly known as the prison complex. This idea establishes that inmate work for a fraction of the average wage of a civilian. In fact, since America must house the inmates they build one prison per week (Franklin). One of the reasons contributing to the construction of the prisons were the drastically increasing amount of criminals. Many people became incarcerated in jail for minor offenses. The Prison Industrial Complex pushed companies profits, thus then leading to the company to push for more people becoming imprisoned for more labor. In American prisons, inmates have the opportunity allowing them to work a job behind bars, this helps the prisoner sustain their lives while being imprisoned. Many people believe that prisoners are adequately paid for their work. Furthermore, the prison industrial complex is filled with government officials, who profit from the work of the prisoners and the number of prisons ( Prison Industrial Complex ). The Domain Bacteria Bacteria and Archaea are prokaryotic, which are mostly single celled incomplex microorganisms. Both Bacteria and Archaea have a variety of prokaryotes classified in multiple kingdoms (Reece, et al., Campbell Biology, 2014). There are a number of scientists who believe that Archaea cells may be the precursor to Eukaryotic cells and that they have more in common with Eukaryotes than Prokaryotes (Madigan, Martinko, Dunlap, 2009). Prokaryotes are ubiquitous, successfully adapting to diverse environments as well as developing symbiotic relationships with host organisms (Lengeler, Drews, Schlegel, 1999). Prokaryotes may have both autotrophic and heterotrophic characteristics. A cyanobacteria is photosynthetic, commonly called blue green algae, and may produce toxins (Crayton, 1993). • 35. Analysis Of The 1918 Influenza Pandemic Scientists studies have led to a greater understanding of the 1918 influenza pandemic. Through conducting tests on the remains of victims, as well as consulting morgues, and numerous accounts of that time period, scientists have finally come up with a theory and solution for influenza. By comparing recent flu strains with the 1918 influenza scientists found reasons to believe that the1918 influenza pandemic began as a bird virus. The bird virus would have adapted to humans overtime eventually becoming as deadly to humans as it had been to birds. Once the virus adapted to humans it was spread through the physicality of a handshake or hug which is highly common among humans. In 1918 no one knew why people were getting sick and dying. • 36. Evaluation Of A State Physical Activity Plan Project Title: Implementation of a state physical activity plan: Realist evaluation of policy implementation and the need to know what works (and what doesn t) Problem Statement While research on physical activity promotion has historically been on the impact of individual level behavioral interventions, there has been substantial progress in identifying the role of policymaking in creating population wide improvements (Brownson et al., 2007; Frank Kavage, 2009; Humpel, Owen, Leslie, 2002). As a result of the increasing evidence of modifying the built environment through policy interventions (Kahn et al., 2002), the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) recommend these as a means of increasing physical activity in communities. Nevertheless, little is known about how to quantify levels of policy implementation related to physical activity in order to understand and appropriately interpret policy outcomes at the state and local levels (Ogilvie et al., 2010; Sallis, Story, Lou, 2009). A process evaluation of the implementation of a state level physical activity plan is proposed to improve our understanding of the mechanisms of policy implementation using a realist evaluation method. Analytic Framework The need for evidence related to policy influences regarding physical activity are increasing in importance as government, communities, and health professionals ... As a child, he listened to their albums on cassette tapes in the car, and as a college student, he attended live performances. The Grateful Dead debuted in 1965 in Palo Alto, CA. It was known for its eclectic, psychedelic rock style, which was sculpted amid the San Franciscan countercultural movement of the 1960s. The movement gained speed alongside the civil rights movement and hippie culture. The Grateful Dead embraced these new beliefs in their songwriting, rejecting common structure by adopting the jam genre, which is based off of live improvisation. The song s story follows a young man, walking around the local square, who is entranced by a young woman with scarlet begonias tucked into her curls (Grateful Dead). She also had rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes, a line that has stuck with Mike because of how the image reminds him of the 70s, and as an extension, the ideas of freedom and being carefree. Mike doesn t have much of an opinion about the lyrics of Fire on the Mountain , but he does love the rhythm and the bass guitar because it just makes anybody want to dance (Michael Peller). However, I found the lyrics to be meaningful in ways related to Mike s enjoyment of the song. The line, fire, fire on the mountain , is repeated throughout the song, and almost sounds like an urgent call for help. Despite this, the beat and music rolls on. The song pokes fun at a long distance runner who continues to make and dance to music even as a dragon with matches is loose on the town . • 48. The Four Ws Of Power In Shakespeare s Tempest The Four W s of Power Power is an incredibly complicated, yet simple mechanism people take advantage of, and it essentially defines every interaction between anyone. None of it is simple to understand, and both power and control can be expressed in vastly different ways. The four W s are the four most common ways power is demonstrated or obtained, and there are real world examples, and even examples in Shakespeare s Tempest that demonstrate these W s being used. Now what are the four W s? The first W is to control when an interaction begins. The person who begins an interaction demonstrates that they are in charge. In Shakespeare s Tempest, this is demonstrated incredibly obviously in the conversations between Prospero, and Ariel, Prospero s spiritual servant. Come away, servant, come. I am ready now. Approach my Ariel. Come. (Shakespeare, Act 1, Sc. 2, Line 222 223). Almost every single time Ariel appears in the play, he is being summoned. This shows Prospero s power over Ariel by showing that he can begin the interaction whenever he wants. Another potential way this could demonstrate power is if the conversation is hesitated. If no words are being said and if no action is being done, it is the person that is most comfortable in this silence and stillness that demonstrates power. The next of the four W s is who. Controlling who someone has power over is just as, if not more important to maintaining control as any of the other 3 points. In Shakespeare s Tempest, Prosperous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was known for his skills in welding, and handling an ax. Being on his own and doing manual labor taught Lincoln even further about the benefits of hard work (biography). A short time after living in Illinois, Lincoln landed a job working on a river flat boat, hauling freight down the mississippi river to New Orleans (history). One spring day in April as Lincoln headed down the Mississippi River, one of the flat boats became stranded on the dam. The men had tried to float the boat over the dam but it was stuck, and was threatening to sink. Lincoln took charge, and went ashore to borrow an auger at Onstot s coopershop, he returned and boarded a hole in the bow allowing the water to run out. He then plugged the hole and the boat with lightened cargo was eased over the dam. The owner of the boat introduced himself as Denton Offutt. The villagers stared at Lincoln with interest. Offutt hired Lincoln, his step brother, and cousin to take the flat boat to New Orleans. Upon his return, Lincoln would be in charge of mill operations. His task would be to build a boat with rollers to enable it to get over shoals and create runners for use on ice (Platt 60). Quantum Dots Lab Report Pre Lab for the Quantum Dots Lab Sara Lyons, Aleye Momodu, and Sam Winslow Goal: Synthesize Cadmium Selenide (CdSe) Quantum Dot Crystals using Cadmium Oxide (CdO) and Selenium (Se) dissolved in Triphenylphosphine solution. The product created will be a colloidal solution, bound to the exterior of the crystal lattice and it remains soluble in the octadecene (Boatman Nordell). Along with this the product will most likely vary in color as well due to the changes in wavelength, energy and transitions, that all correspond to a smaller crystal. The variations in particle size will prove to be an important feature in the experiment, so the goal is to use diverse size particles. The crystals are created in a solution in which they cannot be filtered out since they do not settle. Background of the Chemistry: Cadmium Selenide is an inorganic compound that is widely used for research on nanoparticles. Cadmium Oxide is an inorganic compound that is mostly used for creating other cadmium compounds because it crystallizes in a lattice like that of NaCl. Selenium is an element that has nonmetal properties, but it is rarely ever found in its pure state, it is often found as a compound. In particular, the nitrogen cycle is a key component allowing for the movement of nitrogen throughout the biosphere via several biologically mediated processes, particularly nitrification. Nitrification is one of the most well known processes in microbial ecology and has always been considered to occur in a two step manner, involving the initial oxidation of ammonia (NH3) to nitrite (NO2 ) and the subsequent oxidation of nitrite (NO2 ) to nitrate (NO3 ) (Kowalchuk Stephen, 2001). The vastly diverse microorganisms mediating... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though Nitrospira like most other NOB have not yet been thoroughly studied or cultured, recent studies especially by van Kessel and colleagues (2015) a month prior to the publication of this study identified the existence of possible complete ammonia oxidizing organisms, coined the term comammox organisms (van Kessel et al., 2015). The study presented in this paper illustrates the discovery of the first cultured comammox organism Candidatus Nitrospira inopinata, from its discovery in a microbial biofilm to its genomic analysis. Experiment Daims and colleagues (2015) initiated the study in Aushiger, Russia in April 2011, following the sampling of a microbial biofilm situated on a metal pipe constantly under the flow of hot water, from a 1200 meter deep oil exploration well. Using the biofilm as an inoculum, it was incubated at 46вЃ° C in an ammonium containing mineral medium for the enrichment of moderately thermophilic ammonia oxidizing microbes. Following several serial dilutions in a similar AOM medium, the enrichment culture ENR4 was cultivated. The ENR4 culture was now scaled up to obtain enough biomass for DNA extraction, and various other analyses including phase contrast microscopy, electron microscopy, FISH, PCR and metagenomics. • 56. I First Visited The Virtual Holocaust Museum Website And... When I first visited the virtual Holocaust Museum website and researched the bodies of the site it represented discrimination and bigotry. The action taken upon the innocent the dominant leader Adolf Hitler and the members of his group carried out Jews. The website classified the term Genocide to commit violent crimes against groups with the intent to destroy the existence of the group. The central issue raised by the site is informing people the awareness of Genocide. When I was looking into the cases mentioned on the website many of the cases are racial profiling against culture, religion and race. During the Holocaustthe Nazis were a group that had wealth and power. According to Koppelman, during slavery, African Americans dead bodies were tossed overboard for the sharks to eat (pg106). From reading this example, the Nazis were torturing the Jewsand throwing their lifeless bodies around. This site raises awareness about genocide and how it occurred during the Holocaust. My schema has changed tremendously because I knew very little facts about the Holocaust. I thought that the Jews were just being hated on and not being killed and slaughtered by the Nazis. I read the Anne Frank passage and she expressed how she felt during the time of the Holocaust and how it was a disgrace and how the Nazis were destroying the values and beliefs of the Jews. This reminds me of how immigrants come into the United States and were forced to be Americanize because of the United States ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For Covergirl, their audience is mainly women but it is for makeup enthusiast. Covergirl always tailors their advertisements in the same way. There is always a woman, normally it is just her head and her shoulders sometimes. There is always a bold element or something that grabs your attention in a Covergirl advertisements. Most of them also have a theme for example, the blossom mascaraad that features Katy Perry has a theme of flowers with light pink flowers covering the page or the volume mascara ad... This text talks about how the mascara is just as good if not better than false lashes. The colors used are very contrasting. The background is very light and Drew Barrymore is portrayed as pale and the only other color use is yellow. Black is used and is on her fishnet gloves and is very contrasting to the smooth texture and colors. In this ad specifically, there is a lot of contrasting images. The black fishnet gloves in contrast to the smooth, glossy, silk fabric and the flawless face of Drew Barrymore. The dark color is only on the black gloves draws attention to the gloves. However, your attention then moves to the next darkest things, her eyes. They are effectively using the contrasting textures and colors to draw your attention to her eyelashes. Another effective fact is that Covergirl uses Drew Barrymore as a model, her familiar face plays on pathos and makes the audience trust the advertisement.
