the characters in the story basked in the glory of the outdoors and spent most the time perusing the
surrounding areas around their homes. Each character in the novel had a different relationship to
nature. For some, such as nature was a way to find inner peace. For others, nature represented the
turbulence and wildness upon which the course of life took you. Specific places out in the surrounding
environment novel also had a noteworthy part in the theme of nature. And then you have characters in
which nature played a more significant role such as Elnora and her mother Mrs. Comstock s life. The
focal point of the story is focused on the heroin Elnora Comstock with her collection of moths and her
crotchety mother Mrs. Comstock. Elnora is a poor necessitous girl who receives no support from her
mother. This is due to the fact that Mrs. Comstock blames Elnora for her husband s death by
asphyxiation in the limberlost swamp. All of the nurturing and care she had came from Margaret and
Wesley Sinton. The lack of care and support from her mother led Elnora to have to pay for her own

Both the conscious and unconscious mind revolve around one fundamental aspect of human function:
sleep. While there exists many different theories about the exact function of sleep, it is scientifically
proven that this phenomenon keeps the brain working efficiently. The body possesses many states of
consciousness, both conscious and unconscious. Sleep is the ring leader of the unconscious mind, and
makes sure the body runs healthy while we are blissfully unaware of our surroundings. Sleep has
always been a behavior that integrates itself into everyday life. In fact, we spend about one third of our
life sleeping. Often times people take sleep for granted, but it is essential in order to feel refreshed.
While we are sleeping, the hypothalamus regulates body functions. (Swann, 2013). Seven to nine
hours of sleep is necessary for the brain to restore. Sleep is an important factor because it affects one s
health. The amount of sleep a person gets at night can affect their academic performance, number of
accidents, amount of injuries, and an increase in the chance of obesity. (Noland et al, 2009). Numerous
attributes that interrupt one s sleep are sleeping disorders, the amount of stress in one s life, alcohol
consumption, caffeine intake, homework load, school hours, jobs, and management skills. (Noland et
al, 2009). An average, healthy person falls asleep in about ten minutes. During this time, a person will

The first source is a Newspaper article from The New York Times dated May 5th, 1970, a day after the
shooting. This second hand source is filled with first hand quotes from people who were there and

The photographer was John Filo, a student at Kent State university who studied photojournalism. He
was also a staffer of a satellite paper for the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. Filo s purpose behind

Both men lived in areas under direct oppression of a governance exploiting the local people. City life
at the time was probably seen as new and undemanding form of living. Jesus had but to look out to the

Psychological Factors In Kaysen s Diagnosis And Story
Although there were several psychological factors present in Kaysen s diagnosis and story there were
several others. For example, each of the main characters had experienced different diagnoses. Kaysen
had been diagnosed with Character Disorder, Cynthia was diagnosis was severe Depression, Daisy
had Anorexia, Polly and Georgina had Schizophrenia, Lisa had antisocial personality disorder, and
finally Lisa Cody was a sociopath. This story thus showcases many other stories and diagnoses, other
than just Kaysen s, the reader could analyze the different psychological aspects of the other characters
