Dynamic Character In Chunk Cohen s The Goonies
Dynamic Character Essay ( Chunk Cohen) The Goonies acknowledges the hopes, dreams, and
fears most of us share among ourselves, it is about wanting to be recognized for significant things,
and to become true heroes for those around us. In this case, the story is about a group of pre teens (
named Mikey Walsh, Mouth Devereaux, Data Wang, Brand Walsh, Chunk Cohen, Andy
Carmichael, and Stef Steinbrenner) who live in the Goon Docks neighborhood, they attempt to save
their home from becoming demolished, this process leads them on a whole new adventure to
finding themselves across the missing fortune of One Eyed Willie a legendary pirate.

we value the idea of having dreams, success, heroic figures who motivate us to do the right

Stakeholder Engagement Essay
In today s world for any business to be successful it needs to be a sustainable enterprise. There are
a number of ways to achieve sustainability using a number of different methods. A key aspect of
sustainability for any business is Stakeholder Engagement. Only by reaching out to all of their
stakeholders will a business be able to create a competitive advantage while still being sustainable.
Business sustainability is achieved when the business successfully manages the triple bottom line.
This is the process of managing the financial, social and environmental risk that a certain business
will face. The consequences of business sustainability are not only the long term success of the
company but also that it becomes an appealing opportunity for potential investors as sustainability
is rapidly becoming an increasingly vital component of any business.
The first step in covering stakeholder engagement is to first determine who a stakeholder is. A
common misconception is that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stakeholder Engagement can factor this into a company in a number of ways. For example, if the
company needs a new product supplied, rather than looking at the regular supplier the company can
look at more environmentally friendly options. A green company is normally well supported by the
community as well as by shareholders as an environmentally friendly company is often seen as a
good investment opportunity.
Another imperative principle of Stakeholder Engagement is that those involved in the engagement
must take responsibility. For there to be good governance within a company every relevant person
must engage continuously with the stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement is a critical part of any organisation. It is vital to the sustainability and if
it is managed correctly can lead to creating the necessary competitive advantage that a company
needs in order to not only survive in the work force but ultimately

Reasoning Analysis
Reasoning is defined as the process of thinking about something in a logical way in order to
form a conclusion or judgment (Merriam Webster). Cavender and Kahane (2014) define
reasoning as inferring from what we already know or believe to something else (375). However,
being able to reason well is not necessarily an inherent gift given to all at birth. Coming to strong,
insightful, and true conclusions requires previous experience and acquired knowledge.
Fortunately, We all have available to us a great deal of knowledge others have gained through
experience and good reason accurate information and well intended advice is available to anyone
who reaches out for it (2).

Indeed, my life mantra came from lyrics borrowed from a They Might Be Giants song (1990):
There s only one thing that I know how to do well / And I ve often been told that you only can do
/ What you know how to do well / And that s be you, / Be what you re like, / Be like yourself
Simply put, I ve personally experienced the strength of individuality which, in addition to
differences in religion, language, and customs, is a strong factor which differentiates my worldview
from that of any collectivist culture. All in all, the health of any society can be directly connected
to the level at which its members gather and decipher information. Perhaps what s most interesting
is that the effects of reasoning whether good or bad are seen everywhere from the most micro to the
most macro of situations. People who hold different worldviews often clash on a personal level, but
when cultures or nations have conflicting worldviews, they can create tension and spark
antagonism internationally ... Examining worldviews allows us to take control of our lives by
actively sorting out our fundamental beliefs, testing them against ideas and information that point
to conclusions contrary to what we already believe, and making whatever revisions are indicated in
the light of what we have learned

Lyndon B. Johnson And The Great Society Essay
Lyndon B. Johnson and The Great Society Lyndon Baines Johnson introduced the Great Society,
a strategic plan of action to propose environmental cleanup, decreasing poverty, and helping to
further fund education during his state of the union address in 1965 in a poetic manner. He spoke
of it as a destination that the American people would work toward. Johnson s address gave many
Americans hope and faith in a better world after feeling so much pain following the assassination
of John F. Kennedy. Americans were anxious to move forward as a nation in support of the
changed Johnson proposed. The Great Society was a proposed plan of actions intended to benefit
the American people. Johnson developed the Great Society in a utopian fashion that proposed
programs concerning the cities, the environment and education which in return brought modern
liberalism into turmoil and broadened the administrative state. Taking office after the assassination
of John F. Kennedy put tremendous pressure on Johnson. Not only did he have his own ideas, he
also needed to fulfill the legacy left by Kennedy. In order to do both, he created the Great Society.
Johnson wished to create the glue that kept the American people together and according to Paul C.
Aiken and John M. Redding (1965) he fulfilled his famous words of, Let us continue... while
addressing the country after that fatal day in Dallas and passing several acts to better the country. A
politician that Johnson looked up to was Franklin D.

Compare And Contrast Abraham Lincoln And The Civil War
In order to understand the American Civil War, one must know more about the leaders who
controlled both sides. As many Americans know, Abraham Lincoln participated in the command
of troops on the Northern side of the conflict. On the Southern side, a very influential leader was
also present; Nathan Bedford Forrest was a well known general in the South and was renowned
for his brilliant tactics in combat. One is known as the great emancipator of the slaves, the other, as
the first leader of the Ku Klux Klan(Biography: Nathan Bedford Forrest, n.d.). The roles could have
been greatly reversed, had their upbringings been different. Despite their many differences, these
two influential figures had a surprising amount of similarities. Abraham... Show more content on

After the war, Nathan Bedford Forrest returned to his old life as a businessman, working with
railroads and lumber companies to make his living. Later in the 1860s, Forrest was chosen to be
the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan (Biography: Nathan Bedford Forrest, n.d.). It was here
where he led the Klan members on horseback to intimidate former slaves, republicans, and other
northern civilians. In 1869, he reportedly disbanded the cult, and when later asked about his
association, he denied all ties to the group. After this disbanding of the Ku Klux Klan, Forrest saw
his businesses fail and would manage a prison camp until he succumbed to complications with
diabetes (Biography: Nathan Bedford Forrest, n.d.).. When looking for similarities between Nathan
Bedford Forrest and Abraham Lincoln, it is important to look at their upbringings. When the
magnifying glass is put up to these influential figures, it is clear that they had extremely similar
childhoods. Lincoln and Forrest both started out poor and would go on to teach themselves how
to read and write. Later they would slowly rise to the occasion, and be put in a place of power.
For Forrest, that is when he started making money as a cotton plantation owner; for Lincoln, it is
when he became a lawyer and invested with politics.

The Effects Of Substance Use Disorder On America s Prison...
Introduction
For the better part of the 20th century, those convicted of crimes and sentenced to serve time in
prison, who also have an addiction have been treated unfairly. Substance use disorder has been
viewed as a disease for decades now, and despite this, this disease is not being treated in America s
prison systems properly. The recent sentencing of Cameron Douglas, son of legendary actor
Michael Douglas, to four and one half years additionally in federal prison has brought this crucial
injustice to light. Cameron was serving a five year sentence for various drug related charge and is
an admitted addict of intravenous cocaine and heroin. Heroin was discovered in the cell he resided
in, and in an unprecedented legal proceeding, Judge Richard Berman gave Cameron the longest
sentence on record for a prisoner found to have drugs while incarcerated. Instead of receiving
much needed treatment for his disorder, Cameron will spend nearly the same amount of time in
prison as his original sentence called for.
The Numbers
Drug use and abuse is not a new problem for America s prison system, and is one which speaks
to the larger issue corrupting the judicial system as a whole. As of 2013, of those prisoners
serving at least a year long sentence, 51 percent (98,200) of them were serving for drug offenses
(Carson, 2014). To contrast the incarcerated with those on probation and parole, some 25 percent
(977,662) of the 3.9 million people on probation were charged with drug

Examples Of Rambling Autobiography
Rambling Autobiography Nicholas Hill My only memory of first grade is learning cursive and
having far worse handwriting than other classmates. Probably my favorite memory from
elementary school is recess and playing with friends. Middle school came around and was
probably the first time I was really nervous to go to school, but by the end I realized how fun it
was and all the trouble I got into. Before school every started for me I enjoyed playing outside
climbing trees. Every time fall came around I looked forward to jumping in piles of leaves,
carving pumpkins and halloween. In 8th grade I started skiing which is my favorite winter
hobby. The first time I went on a airplane was last year(2016) when we went to Florida then took
a cruise to the Bahamas. I m hate spiders and snakes especially big snakes and spiders. One of
my favorite memories as a child is when went on a short vacation in New Hampshire and stayed
in a really cool cabin with a stream behind it that made for the best sleep ever. Another time I
went to New Hampshire was with my Aunt and Uncle and we stayed in a house they own near
Hampton Beach, which was the first time I ever went to a big beach. In 6th grade my family
and my friends family went to the Damariscotta Lake State Park almost every day and had
barbecue chicken on the regular, along with hamburgers and hotdogs. We also went to the
majority of state parks in Maine because we got a state park pass book and there is a challenge in it

Demand became so aggressive that too many securitizers and lenders believed they were able to

Romanticism In Canada
This historical study will dispel the romanticism of Irish amalgamation into urban Toronto culture
that occurred during the Great Famine immigrations of the mid 19th century. In this manner,
Toronto has been defined as the Belfast of Canada during the 19th century, since the massive
populations of British Protestants often objected to the arrival of many Roman Catholic Irish
coming during the Great Famine. Traditionally, Irish immigration into Toronto has often been a
staple part of romantic images of integration, compassion (for starving Irish people), and cultural
/ethnic tolerance, yet the struggles of the Irish people in Toronto define a larger ethnic conflict at
the onset of the first Irish settlements. More so, the struggles of protestant Northern Irelandalso bled
into conflicts between British protestant and Roman Catholic Irish. After all, Canada was not yet a
nation , and the cultural and ethnic struggles of immigration policy were still largely under the
governance of the British Royal Crown. In essence, this historical study will dispel the romanticism
of Irish amalgamation during the Great Famine immigration that made Toronto the Belfast of
Canada during the mid 19th century.

Position Paper On Abortion
The topic of abortion has become an issue today in the U.S. They have the authority to rule on
whether laws governing abortion are Constitutional or not. The Legislative Branch is, for the most
part, in favor of legalizing abortion because the Senate and the House of Representatives all want
women and fetuses to be protected. The Executive Branch favors abortionbecause they feel no child
should be terminated in the late stage of a pregnancy. I will now explain how each branch played a
role in making abortion legal under the constitution. First, the judicial branch has seen that laws
blocking abortions are unconstitutional. The case Roe v Wade was the landmark case that
contributed to women being able to have abortions. The United States Supreme Court came down
with the decision of allowing a woman to terminate her pregnancy. The decision was based upon the
Fourteenth Amendment which refers to privacy rights. Also, a judge, Myron H. Thompson, has
declared the Women s Health and Safety Act unconstitutional. The Women s Health and Safety Act
was related to the doctors performing abortions. In the case Planned Parenthood Southeast v.
Strange the right to an abortion is constitutional like any other due process. However, the legislative
branch finds having an abortion unconstitutional in certain circumstances. As early as 1981, the
abortion debate shifted from the courts to Congress. This is when legislative hearings were held on

The Definition Of Global Citizenship
Global Citizenship
In viewing the video Globalization: What Is Happening to us (2010). It is obvious why global
citizenship should be a must for all people. Modern technology has allowed us to communicate
and stay in touch with people all over the world including those dear to us like friends and family.
Advanced technology is a norm in today society whether you like it or not. All information now of
days is passed through advanced technology. It allows us to keep up with people and their culture
and norms. In social service field, it is crucial that I understand and able to communicate with my
clients. On the internet, I can research cultures and their norms. It is vital to learn differently about
other culture to better serve and communicate with them. It can be persuasively argued that
effective care is impossible without a working knowledge and understanding of a person s or
groups cultures ns background (NASW, n.d.).
Disagreement between Theorist
There is variations definition of global citizenship; the words are interchangeable with each other.
A theorist can each have their own high opinion regarding global citizenship. My definition of
global citizenship is that we are responsible to this world. People are responsible for human, human
rights, cultural and diversity. People are responsible for connecting the world, cultures, and people
with each other. Responsible for advocating for the world and its problem of others.

Non Verbal Communication And Nonverbal Communication
One of the areas studied in psychology is the use of Non Verbal Communication (NVC).
According to the Collins dictionary, this is defined as those aspects of communication, such as
gestures and facial expressions, that do not involve communication, but which may include non
verbal aspects of speech itself (accent, tone of voice, speed of speaking, etc) . Used daily by
humans and animals (Darwin 1972), NVC has a strong link to innate factors, and messages are
sent unconsciously to the listener. Through body language, we can deliver simple messages which
can aid or replace speech, show attitude or emotion, and with 55% of what we say being delivered
through body language, and 38% dedicated to tone, it can sometimes contradict our verbal... Show

The study was carried out by collecting photographs, drawings and video footage to allow for a
large sample of international gestures, and as there were no guidelines for judging NVC at this
time, we are not able to question the validity of these approaches. It was noted in the study that
when filming, and asking people to repeat gestures, the actions became more awkward and
unnatural, therefor procedures where changed to ensure only first, natural performances of the
gesture were recorded.
The findings showed that they hypothesis was correct as in there are differences in gestures across
the cultures, but there can also be variations within that cultures. It also discovered that to collect
accurate recordable data, video footage was the best option. This was due to photographs and
drawings not giving enough information for someone to repeat the gesture correctly. Still drawings
do not show the full motion of the gesture, the facial expression that coincides with it or the speed
at which the gesture is delivered. The advantage of filming also meant that footage could be
reviewed to allow even small gestures being noted. Findings were delivered in a short film A

Establishing Positive Relationships With Fellow Teachers
FOUNDATION FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING 8:
PEER ASSESSMENT #2
ESTABLISHING POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS
WITH FELLOW TEACHERS
The collegial relationships which occur among teachers at a school are extremely important in
defining the learning atmosphere, character and ethos that exists at an educational institution.
Leadership plays a key role in the development of a positive and productive environment but it
takes a commitment by all staff members to make this occur, grow and flourish.
The types of relationships and interactions that occur among staff members easily translate to what
occurs among the student body. As role models who have significant influence on learners at school
, how teachers conduct their daily activities are very important. Students can easily sense any
negative feelings teachers may have towards certain pupils and also fellow staff members. This is
an important consideration for every educator.
As indicated by Leana (2011), when teachers are good at their jobs and also talk to one another
frankly and on a regular basis about what they do, student achievement improves significantly. This
fact clearly demonstrates the importance of relationship building among teachers and
administrators, which usually results in a successful school with a very positive atmosphere.
However, the question arises as to what it takes to achieve this situation. As indicated by Brewster
and Railsback (2003), there are many factors that mitigate against the development of

techniques to establish a setting and shape the characters personality. This is shown in Henry
Lawson s short stories the drover s wife and the loaded dog as well as Roger hargreaves picture
book little miss sunshine.
Henry Lawson s the drovers wife, explores the perspicacity of the bush heroine with the use of a
narrator. The narrators avoidance of using a name for the drover s wife prevents the responder
being influenced by their names and instead allows the responder to judge for themselves through
the actions and events that occur in the story. This also shows the responder that the hardships and
struggles faced by this woman are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the orientation, Miseryland is presented as a sad, unhappy, miserable place using the
graphics and text.
And when the birds wake up in the morning in Miseryland, they don t start singing.
They start crying!
Oh, it really is an awful place!
Then the responder is introduced to little miss sunshine, the main character. she is show to be a
happy person whistling happily to herself and shown to be the colour yellow in the picture to
convey happiness and brightness.
The picture book s complication arises with little miss sunshine laughing and giggling in front of
the king in Miseryland. The pictures capture this with a close up of the king s and little miss
sunshine s face; hers laughing and the king is crying. This sets a major contrast between the two
characters.
The denouement occurs with each main character with their own page with a close up of their
happy face and sunshine and flowers and colours with a happy connotation. The picture book
closes with Mr. happy saying that he didn t know such a place as Miseryland existed and little miss
sunshine replying with there isn t!
In conclusion, the narration in the short stories the drover s wife, the loaded dog and little miss
sunshine, prove highly important in involving the responder in a range of experiences by providing
the techniques and storylines for the responder to gain an insight

Women Coping with Breast Cancer Essay
Women Coping with Breast Cancer
Coping has been closely connected to stress; it involves a process by which a person attempts to
restore balance in response to a stressful life event (Henderson, Gore, Davis, and Condon, 2003).
The most common cancer among Canadian women in 2010 is breast cancer. An average of 445
Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and an average of 100 Canadian women will
die of breast cancer every week (Canadian Cancer Society, 2010). Coping with breast cancer has
been defined as being emotionally and physically challenging for women and their families
(Henderson et Al., 2003). Women that are newly diagnosed with breast cancer and those in the
period between diagnosis and treatment are seen as being most ... Show more content on

Coping With Possible Breast Cancer Diagnosis
Description of the literature. The first theme to be reviewed was coping with possible breast
cancer diagnosis. The article was written by Sigrunn Drageset and Torill Lindstrom (2005), it
examined the relationship between demographic characteristics, social support, anxiety, coping and
defence among women with possible breast cancer. This study entailed a quantitative, non
experimental, cross correlational survey: The investigators used a self administered questionnaire
from a convenience sample. The sample size consists of 117 women between the ages of 25 to 76
years with possible breast cancer who had undergone a breast biopsy under local anesthesia.
Literature findings. The key findings from this study were patients with a reasonably good
educational background cope best while waiting for a possible breast cancer diagnosis. They
received social support from relationships described by attachments. A number of poorly educated,
unemployed, and single or divorced, widowed women typically used a cognitive defensive coping
style. People that utilized a defensive hostile coping style tend to receive poor social support, and
thus, they are the most in need of professional support from nurses.

Ten Little Soldiers Summary
This book is about ten strangers who receive invitations from U.N. Owen to meet at Soldier
Island (off in England), the island that used to be owned by an American who hosted big
parties. So because they thought there would be a huge event, each individual gladly accepts.
Little did they know that no one else was going to be on that island. The guests arrive and meet
each other, except they still have no clue who Mr. or Mrs. U.N. Owen is. As they eat dinner, a
gramophone plays announcing why each guest has been invited, because they all have
committed murder that the law can t touch. As their vacation goes by, each soldier or guest dies
off one by one in a particular manner, their deaths follow those of the poem by Frank Green
titled Ten Little Soldiers or Ten Little Indians. The setting is on Soldier Island. Aan island in
Devon, England. There are no hills or caves, it is just a piece of land with a large house standing
on it. The book takes place at early August. From the eighth to the twelfth. There are so many
main characters because the book was about all ten guests. I think the most important character
is the murderer himself who is given a better description in the end of the book. Justice Wargrave
also known as U.N. Owen. Wargrave was accused of sending Edward Seton to his death because
he found him guilty in court while 9 out of 10 said he was innocent. He grew up with the lust to
kill, and he used the law as a way to send guilty people to their death without

The Effects Of Television On Our Society
Last month Annie, my cousin, told me with anticipation that she will be size zero next week by
eating miracle herbal pill, which she ordered after watching its advert on television. I looked at
her with a contemptuous smile, and said You Wish . She started explaining to me how in the
advert her favorite singer lost 25 lbs. in just two weeks by using this overpriced herbal formula.
After two weeks, I visited her to see the awaited wonder, but I realized that she is one of the
victims of lured advertisements, which are now part of our everyday life. We see
advertisements on the television showing new glamorous lifestyles, hear them on the radio, see
slogans embellished on people s shirts, on the side of the buses, on billboards, in fact
everywhere. Companies spend lot of money researching for their target audiences to make their
product appeal to as many consumers as possible. The wide variety of channels and print media
makes it easy for advertisers to be specific about who sees their product. For instance, children s
channel like Nick Junior is packed with commercials for toys and games, whereas The Cookery
Channel that have an older, mainly female viewership air commercials for perfumes, clothes, and
holidays. The propagandatechniques are essential for the advertisers to create eye catching adverts
because they are in competition with all the other advertisements for the similar product. Examining
advertisements closely reveals that regardless of the similarities and

What To Sacrifice Research Paper
To sacrifice is to give up something important for something even better, which may cause pain;
but, in the end, it will be totally worth it. I have witnessed my own friends performing such a
damaging act that hurt me as individual, mentally, and has made me begin to struggle in daily
activities. I have allowed myself to become stressed out, ignore the healthier relationships in my
life, and have noticed a great decrease in my self esteem. However, I have learned that these
problems were or can be created due to the reaction and response I express. This reaction has
both hurt me and helped me build as an individual. Some people respond by getting revenge on
the other person, which ends up making him or her just as disrespectful as the other; while I have
realized it is better to forgive rather than hold a grudge. I also have realized forgiving someone
makes me appear more respectable, and it ultimately places me in a higher place than the individual

me that they can do whatever they please because I will forgive them anyways; which is not
how I want to be viewed in society. I fear the same occurrence will remain and that I will appear

Moving Away
Moving away from all of your best friends can be a real tragedy in a sixteen year old teenagers

Once my family and I arrived at our new house I was still very saddened because of the move

The General, The Slave Who Became A Gladiator
The first movie that pops up to someone s mind when we say Drama is Gladiator released in the
year 2000 which is considered historical drama. Ridley Scott works on an inspiring, mesmerizing
and action packed flick to trigger the human feelings of strength, honor, courage, betrayal,
ruthlessness and survival. The character that Russell Crowe plays as the gladiatorsends the audience
back home motivated to fight for what they believe in following what he mentioned in the movie
what we do in life, echoes in eternity . The supporting character in the movie, in specific is the
slave that accompanies the gladiator the whole time reflects the slogan of the movie The General
who became a Slave, the Slave who became a Gladiator .
The Cinematic Style that Ridley Scott develops in the film is dynamic, bravely reflected and acted
genuinely. Yet while discussing the plot we can consider it thrilling but flat. Just when the plot is
heating up the steam is gone. Plus the movement of the sword fights looks like they are on fast
forward.
Scott chose New York and Washington as a geographical area to film. The heroic architecture

(1960). If we want to speak of it simply, it is about a betrayed lord seeking revenge, and a
gladiator revolt. The major problem is that Maximus can t be both a gladiator and a player in
imperial politics because this splits the focus. The plot is interesting yet uncomplicated at the same

The Effects Of Drought On The Southern United States
There is an alarming situation emerging in the Southwestern United States where record setting
drought conditions persist and the forecast for the future warns of continued drought conditions.
Effects of the drought are as visible as they are alarming; Lake Mead, one of the largest reservoirs
in this region is well below its high water mark leaving officials to wondering how they can
continue to provide both water and electricity to the region. According to the National Climate
Assessment 2014, ninety two percent of this region uses irrigationto water crops accounting for
seventy nine percent of the water withdrawals (Garfin). In addition, a study by NASA concludes
droughts in the Southwest United States may be longer and drier than previous droughts in the last
one thousand years (Cole). The ongoing drought in the Southwestern United States is driving water
reserves to dangerously low levels, adversely affecting an agricultural system that will have ripple
effects throughout the entire country, unless the farmers of this region can learn to farm without
water they may not survive.5
In order to understand drought we must first understand what drought means. Drought is defined
by Merriam Webster dictionary as A period of dryness especially when prolonged; specifically: one
that causes extensive damage to crops or prevents their successful growth (Merriam Webster). The
southwestern United States is considered, for the most part, an arid region. That doesn t mean that

The Importance Of Chemical Interaction
Kinetics is essentially the study of reaction rates and how they can be affected. Factors such as
concentration, pressure, temperature, and enzyme activity, are commonly tested regarding their
impact on the rate of a reaction (Khan Academy, 2017). It is important to recognise and understand
the components that affect the rate of chemical reactions as this allows control over the reaction
process. Chemical reactions progress naturally at different rates. A chemical reactioninvolves the
rearrangement of the molecular or ionic structure of substances as they change into other
substances by the breaking of bonds in reactants and the formation of bonds in products
(Wilbraham, 2002). Collision theory can be used to explain why chemical reactions proceed at
different rates. Collision Theory states that atoms, ions and molecules must collide in order for a
reaction to proceed and form products (Stubbings, 2017). Thus, the higher frequency of successful
collisions, the faster the reaction rate will be. Kinetic theory states that particles of matter are in
constant motion thus, kinetic energy is the energy acquired as a result of an object s motion
(Wilbraham, 2002). In order for collisions to be successful however the molecules must acquire a
minimum amount of kinetic energy called their activation energy and they must collide at a precise
orientation. The rate of reaction can be modified with the appropriate knowledge and
understandings of the factors affecting the collisions of

The Four Noble Truths Essay
The Four Noble Truths One of the most important sharing in the Buddha s first sermon is the Four
Noble Truths. The First Noble Truth is the truth of duhkha that life is dissatisfactory. The Buddha
explained it from four aspects physical changing, mental emotional process, unpleasant things, and
not processing the things one wants. The Second Noble Truth illustrates the cause of duhkha. It
seems that craving is the cause of all sufferings. Actually, it is the idea of selfness which produces
ignorance, the first constituent of the twelve nidhana, and leads to craving and thirst. The Third
Noble Truth demonstrates the cessation of unsatisfactory state. According to the twelve nidhana,
removing ignorance will eliminate craving and finally cease... Show more content on

Buddha explained it from three aspects. First of all, we can t prevent the changing condition of
physical life. We can t stop from growing old, can t get rid of getting sick, and can t control dying
or giving birth in the six realms. The physical changing itself already lets people down. Lack of
ability to manage the physical changing makes us even more unsatisfied about lives. The
second point is that we can t get permanent happiness. Although no one will deny that we feel
happy sometimes, all pleasure we get will not last forever. For example, during the time I
applied for universities and colleges for undergraduate study, I was so happy when I received
the offer from UNC. But, one month later, I can t feel the same level of happiness as the day I
saw the congratulations on the letter. We always believe that we will get lasting happiness after
we realize something, however, we won t. Therefore, the gap between what we want and what we
actually get causes the dissatisfactoriness. The last aspect is that personal and social duhkha are
caused by changing states of human. If one has the negative emotions like angry, hatred, greed, and
delusion, he or she will project these personal feelings to family and friends, and even cause war,
political repression or other social turbulences. All three points demonstrate that life is
dissatisfactory, which is exactly the truth of

bathroom door opens, he turns to his left, and we only see his left profile (Fig 1.), a mirror
image to the first time he set eyes on Madeleine in the restaurant unsure, and this time, full of
anticipation. We are reminded of the green motif, by the neon light outside Judy s apartment. As
Scottie turns around to fully see the resurrected Madeleine, he slowly stands up and at this point
the music starts to pick up, leading us to the point at which he sees his beloved. The camera
tracks into a close up of Scottie s face, with the green light reflecting off his eye, he almost looks
like he has tears in his eyes (Fig 2.). Cut to Judy/ Madeleine stepping out of the toilet, it is Scottie
s POV of Madeleine bathed in ghostly green light. Similar to the scene in the cemetery where
Madeleine was shot through a fog filter, which gave her the green glow, Judy/ Madeleine now
had green light superimposed around her body, which gave her the appearance of a blurred,
ghostly figure (Fig 3.). This reflected Madeleine coming back from the dead, now a ghost, as
green is usually used to represent ghost or spirits in film. She then slips out of the blur and into
focus, Hitchcock used this to indicate Scottie s come back to reality, coming to his senses as he
spots the locket in the next scene, realizing that Judy has been tricking him all along (Truffaut,
1985).

Jackie Robinson and integration are two phrases that cannot be segregated. Whether he liked it or

The Dodgers got their name from the electric streetcars in Brooklyn that were so dangerous that
people had to be skilled amp;#8220;dodgers ; of them in order not to get run over. Why was
Brooklyn the place that integration could occur? After World War Two, Brooklyn had
transformed from a white middle class population to a mix of blacks, Latinos and Jews.
amp;#8220;About half of Brooklyn amp;#8217;s population was Jewish; among the Dodger
faithful, Jews were probably far more ready than any other major group, such as the Irish or the
Italians, to identify with the fight against the Jim Crow embodied by Robinson ; (Rampersad 220

Ban All Advertising From The Tobacco Industry
In 2001, there was an argument by the government of India trying to decide whether or not it was a
good idea to ban all advertising from the tobacco industry. The government s main goal was to find
a way to reduce the number of teenagers using tobacco. The government believed that these
advertisements encouraged teens to start smoking or to continue smoking if they were doing it
already. As expected, this situation created a lot of tension between the government and the tobacco
industry. This created two sides: those in favor of the ban, and those against it.
Those in favor of the ban argued that the government had the moral responsibility to make sure
teens weren t smoking. They pointed out that tobacco causes millions of deaths every year, so it
was important that the youth never started smoking in the first place. They also argued that the
advertisements were too colorful or looked like cartoons which would get too much attention of
children and, eventually, it would drive them to become smokers. The other argument that was
made was that other countries had already done it, so India could do it as well. Finland, France,
and Norway had implemented bans on advertising for tobacco products acting on what they
believed was the best interest of their citizens. Part of the argument was that banning advertisements
wasn t illegal, therefore, there was nothing to stop the government from implementing it. However,
the government was warned that a ban like this would only work

The supply chain and logistics industry includes companies that move raw materials, finished
goods, packages, and documents across the globe. It is one of the main phases in value chain

Robust processes are at the heart of supply chain performance. Internally, robust processes help
to reduce costs by eliminating errors, and help to increase dependability by making processes
more certain. When quality was positioned second to sales growth and cost, even the iconic
Toyota Motor Company s brand suffered as a string of recalls and safety concerns in recent
years has shown. In many logistics situations, quality of service is concerned with selecting the
right quantity of the right product in the right sequence in response to customer orders. For
example, store orders must be picked from a range of thousands of skus (stock keeping units) at
a Tesco RDC. This must be carried out accurately (correct sku, correct quantity) against tight
delivery schedules day in and day out. Pick accuracy (for example, 99.5 per cent correct sku and
correct quantity) is widely used to measure the quality of this operation. And increasing
requirements for in store efficiencies mean that categories of product (for example, shampoos and
toothpastes) need to be picked in a set sequence to facilitate direct to shelf delivery at the store.
Logistics service providers who can implement and maintain the highest standards of service
quality place themselves at an advantage over those who cannot. Secondly, time advantage. Time
measures how long a customer has to wait in order to receive a given product or service.

American Slavery Between 1830 and 1860, a time of increasing national divisions over slavery,
numerous accounts of slave life were published. These accounts of life under slavery almost
invariably had either abolitionist or pro slavery agendas. Slaves in the ante bellum South lived
under a wide variety of circumstances, and held a variety of positions, including household servant,
wagon driver, iron foundry workers and skilled artisan. Nine out of ten slaveshowever, worked as
farm laborers, growing cotton, tobacco, rice, and other products. About half of these laborers

became sick with radiation related illnesses in the following years (BBC News). There was much
criticism following the nuclear attacks because the majority of those killed were civilians. If such a
situation occurred in Iran, it can only be assumed that results would be similar, if not more
devastating. If the U.S. attacked Iran in a more conventional manner, like a ground invasion, the
question of sovereignty and enforcement of international law is raised. Although the Nuclear Non
Proliferation Treaty prohibits states without nuclear weapons from acquiring them, it is difficult to
enforce international law, especially as states have sovereignty within their own borders. Only a few
countries, including the U.S., are able to threaten and deter countries that violate international law.
Because of this, often the only laws that are enforced are those that concern the most powerful
countries. The International Atomic Energy Agency monitors and investigates countries to
guarantee they are not acquiring nuclear weapons. Recently, the IAEA released a report saying
there is a credible belief that Iran is trying to create a nuclear device; this has heightened tensions
between Iran and the U.S. Also at stake is the United States reputation and position as a world

P ! Nk Funhouse Analysis
A pop artist, P!nk, in her song, Funhouse , emphasizes the instability of her former relationship.
P!nk s purpose is to illuminate the problematic partner everyone has had the misfortune of
meeting and that the end of the relationship signifies the beginning of a new chapter; all one has
to do is start over. She adopts an acrimonious tone in order to condemn toxic relationships in her
large fan base of young women. P!nk s credibility is underlined and bolded throughout the video.
She starts with wearing white to emphasize her right doing and purity and the most predictable
wrong doing of the other party. The dark and evil clowns practically copy and pasted into the
background further display the stance of the piece. She runs around the

A forwards contract is a contract between both buyer and seller of an asset which agrees to a
predetermined date and price on which the contract will be executed. The future date and price
is been agreed on the date on which the contract was made. The future decided date is called as
expiry date and the pre decided price is called forward price. Forwards contracts are private
contracts which are only traded in Over the Counter (OTC) market. The terms of the

Internal Conflict In Lisa See
The author uses characterization by revealing the internal conflict to create meanings in variety
of ways. The characterization of this essay will be written about main characters actions. My
argument is that despite the love family give to lily and lily wanting to get loved, future husband
uses his power to fade lily s tenderness within her family. So I will approach this essay by
describing the action lily did and will also approach this by analyzing the action.
In the book Lisa See shows that lily needs a strong feeling of affection. When the family is doing

86 This quote shows that women are suffering but men are not suffering because the men are
making a women suffer, it also says that men rules the women however the men doesn t know the
woman s feeling. Referring to the book Lily s love is fading because of Tonkou. First they love
each other but now there relationship is fading because now Tonkou is treating her as the House
worker Obey, obey, obey, then do what you want. Lisa Lee 53. This is the same topic as the
other one just it is saying that obey your husband or you might get you in bad relationship. It
also says that you should obey the husband first and do whatever you want second. Anyone who
says that women do not have influence in men s decisions makes a vast and stupid mistake. Lisa
Lee. Women who does not have influence it considered as bad people because women are
suppose to listen to men and follow the mens directions. This all 3 quotes has the same idea, men
is the most powerful person in the house. Tonkou and Lily is doing the same thing. Tonkou gives
directions and Lily has to follow his direction no matter what. Now she is

compartments are a cupule and a small tube that contains a specific dehydrated substance. After you
inoculated each compartment with an unknown bacteria, a reaction will occur in 18 24hours. The
results were organized in a Reading Table and given a number based on the results. With this
number it is possible to identify the bacteria.

What in your view, was the short term significance of Michael Collins?
Michael Collins played a major part in Ireland s History, in the years 1916 23. He had a short but
political life where he had increasingly been involved in events such as the Easter Rising, Anglo
Irish War, Treaty Negotiations and the Civil War. Although he was only active over a relatively
short period of time, his significance in such events was profound. His public image changed
throughout the years, from one of the UKs most wanted men to a reasonable politician. In 1916
during the Easter Rising his role was relatively low key, but by 1922 he ultimately gave his life in
the Civil War for what he believed in.

The canteen staff in Frongoch described Collins as highly respected and when they took
problems to him he always listened logically 4. This helps us understand Michael Collins short
term significance because he learnt from the military blunders made; such as the seizure of
indefensible and very vulnerable positions like St Stephen s Green5 and filled the vacuum made
by the executions of the leaders of the Rising. Likewise, Frongoch would have been different
without Collins as the internees wouldn t have been able to hold out and the Irish wouldn t have
developed such a fighting force. It s a useful source because they were employed to work in the
Frongoch canteens so they are indifferent to Collins, which gives this source a high weight of
argument which can be generalised to how others must have seen him who weren t closely
involved with him. Then again, as it is written so long after, it can be doubted On the contrary, the
source was wrote over half a century later, so it s questionable how far someone can precisely
remember what the canteen staff thought about Collins.
Michael Collins had many responsibilities after leaving Frongoch. He was appointed Finance
Minister and is described as the unlikely Finance Minister who proved himself an administrator par
excellence. 6 Collins produced a Finance Ministry that was able to organise a

The Conflict Between The Middle East And Christianity
The world now is facing a set of significant problems. I believe that there are three main
International threats to global stability, the rapid rise of extremism, international disputes over
territories, and corruption. Solutions to these issues facing humankind are compulsory to avoid
some expected consequence. No more than two years ago people thought of Osama bin Laden
and al Qaeda organisation if we mentioned the nightmare, extremism. Instead, nowadays the new
forces of evil would be the ISIS, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. ISIS
originates from Al Qaeda in Iraq. I think that the occur of ISIS is under expectation. It has been a
long history of the religion conflict between the Islamism in the middle east and... Show more

Firstly, here are some ambitious events showing that ISIS is threatening the world security and
order. On November 13th, 2015, the Islamic State killed more than 100 people at several
locations in Paris. On October 31st, 2015, 224 people died when a Russian jetliner crashes after
leaving Egypt s Sinai Peninsula, and ISIS claimed their responsibility. On March 20th, 2015,
137 death were caused by suicide bombers attack two mosques in Yemen. Except the casualty,
their violence behaviours also aroused fear and chaos across the world. As a result, these terror
attacks had changed the way of our lives. According to Hedley Bull (1995), one of the most
fundamental goals of the anarchical society is upholding the independence of member states,
maintaining peace, and helping to secure the normative foundations of all social life, which
includes the limitation of violence (Jackson, 2013). To save the world basic human values,
security, order and justice, those countries in power must weaken if not topple these dangerous
radicals from their pedestals. The United States need to start a legal battle as the state is supposed
to ensure the value of security and protect their citizens. Other than that, another solution for the
extremism is to wait until either the world vital energy is not petrol oil anymore, or the oil
resources in the middle east run out. However, it will probably take a long time for this solution.

The Resurrection Of God s Glory
Following the fall, mankind and the rest of creation are in an unnatural state of disorder, and
mankind specifically is condemned to the reign of death and separation from God. However,
through the Incarnation, Jesus Christ becomes human and begins to restore mankind to an elevated
state, allowing for mankind and all of creation to serve as a full manifestation of Gods glory. As
beings created in the image and likeness of God, mankind is born into relation and unity as
exemplified by the Holy Trinity. Mankind is not a strictly necessary being, but rather a being
God chose to create so as to share His goodness and love, making mankind a true manifestation of
God s glory. St. Bonaventure explains that God created all things not to increase His glory, but to
show it forth and to communicate it. However, following the original sin, mankind enters a fallen
state characterized by death and a separation from God. In this sinful state, mankind is no longer
living as our fullest selves and is failing to exemplify God s true glory. Mankind still remains in
this fallen state when JesusChrist, the Son of God, joins Himself to creation and enters into
humanity through the power of the Holy Spirit. Origen remarks on the grandeur of God becoming
Incarnate saying, But of all the marvelous and splendid things about [God], there is one that utterly
transcends the limits of human wonder and is beyond the capacity of our weak mortal intelligence

Synchronous Machine For A Motor And A Generator
Synchronous Machines Louis Meyer EE 3501 Section 3B November 7, 2014 Table of Contents
Abstract This report contains details from three lab experiments performed using a synchronous
machine for both a motor and a generator. The fundamental principle of a synchronous machine is
that the electrical frequency is related to the mechanical frequency. The first lab performed
consisted of doing two different tests, the open circuit and short circuit tests, respectively. By
performing these two basic tests, it can be determined the armature voltage and current changes
drastically with each test. The second lab performed required to use the synchronous machine as a
generator. When acting like a generator, it becomes necessary to... Show more content on

There are two primary synchronous machines, the synchronous generator and the synchronous
motor. Both machines are very useful depending on the application necessary for their use.
Depending on the external conditions, it is required to have an understanding of how the
synchronous machine should be modeled for each use. The synchronous machine is commonly
found in industrial settings, clocks, and power plants. The common factor between these fields is
the requirement of running at a constant speed. The synchronous generators used in power plants
are common because it is economically efficient to keep the generator running at a constant
frequency. Depending on the application, the synchronous machines can be modeled
proportionally between the mechanical frequency based on the number of poles and the
frequency of current (see theory). Consequentially, the electrical radian frequency is determined
be the electrical frequency. Modeling a synchronous machine is a simple task, provided the
necessary parameters are known. For this lab the model of the synchronous machine was already
considered. The synchronous machine being used had a rating of 208 V (line to line rms), 60 Hz,
and 200 W. It is a 4 pole machine with a synchronous speed of 1800 RPM. The open circuit and
short circuit tests performed in this lab can

Persuasive Essay On Popcorn
College students around the globe probably eaten these once their college lifetime. Popcorn. The
crazy corn craze has stuck even the best of fraternity party goers and honor students inside New
York City. However, as of this writing, there is a legislative bill in development that in the distant
future, will cause instability to consumers in the collegedemographic. The new regulation declares a
ban popcorn from all college dorms and colleges across New York Citydue to an excessive volume
of calls by 911 to which relate to popcorn incidents. Upon further research on the wording of this
new law, there might be flaws that might not only hurt the sales of popcorn but moreover have a

In fact, if the ban is proposed, they can just walk into a local movie theater buy some popcorn.
Instead of watching a movie, which anybody that buys popcorn would usually do, the students
can just walk outside, and eat the popcorn outside near their college. The NYPD states that they
say that they will ban on college city dorms. It didn t state off campus apartments or any other
place that isn t college, so it defeats the purpose as college students will find another way to get
popcorn. Alongside the location problem, another conundrum of this ban will arise. The second
problem is that since the popcorn ban is in dorms, how are they going to enforce them? Most
law officers will help train the RAs in the dorms and residence halls. If passed, the undeniable
truth is that they will teach them how to deal with people having popcorn, but how much are
they going to trust them? If this goes into effect, a possible opposite effect will happen. Due to
RAs having classes alongside the college students living in the dorms. Officers can t keep an eye
on RAs because they are diligent with their classwork throughout the day. Alongside this,
authorities also can t come into the dorms to search popcorns if the RAs are unreachable without
a warrant and having the privacy of students taken away due to random search and seizure.
However, one might argue that the NYPD may also train staff inside the residence halls to catch
these so called popcorn perpetrators . While it is true

Self Observation Of A Self
Throughout my self observation, I felt the need to start with a baseline of who I am. Being
raised in the south I learned to respect myself and others, but sometimes people are just right
down obnoxious. Also, I hold myself to high standards because there s no reason why I cannot
make my goals a reality if I give it my all. This is known as Self Concept: The relatively stable set
of perceptions you hold of yourself. (Page 63) For example, in my observationI notice my patience
level is very thin for people who do not have respect for other s education. There s one girl in
particular yesterday, who texted the whole class, which my nursing class is from 8:30am to
2pm. Therefore, as I m trying to listen and highlight in my book, only thing I hear is the sound
of her long nails tapping on her keyboard or her phone vibrating. Than during break she wants to
ask me for the notes, because the teacher was moving too fast. Since this is still the first couple
of weeks of school, I try to be a little more understanding, but I will not do someone s work just
for them not to pay attention. Therefore today, when the test came around I had studied my butt
off and scored very well. But for the girl that sits next to me, she complained that the test was too
hard and how we didn t have the appropriate information to study for the test. In that moment, I
found myself comparing our differences, I work hard for my grades. I study and work my butt off
then there s those people that don t do anything in class but are the first ones to complain. The book
recognized this as Social Comparison: Evaluating ourselves in terms of how we compare with
others. (Page 66) Throughout the rest of my day, I noticed I compare myself to a lot of different
people without even noticing. Like when I was driving home I saw all these people texting and
driving, and I just could not help thinking like what the heck, I can t even look to the side without
going into the other line so how in the world are they texting! I do not compare myself to other to
prove whose better but I believe it just natural to compare others to yourself.
While at home, I observe the unreserved self more than while am at school where I trend to be a
little reserved. I

The Scientific Exploration Of Human Motivation
1. How do economic theories add to the scientific exploration of human motivation? Human
motivation is a physiological drive that we all have inside ourselves. There is no way to
completely avoid it. Some drives we have are for basic necessities of survival, like the feelings
of thirst and hunger. Obviously we must give into the drive that our body is signaling to us we
must have because food and water are essential for us to live. When our behavior is directed by
means of survival this is something known as homeostasis. According to drive theory, the body
maintains a condition of homeostasis, in which any particular system is in balance or
equilibrium (C.L. Hull, 1951). Any departure from homeostasis, such as depletion of nutrients
or a drop in temperature, produces an aroused condition, or drive, which impels the individual to
engage in appropriate action such as eating, drinking, or seeking warmth. As the body s need is
met, the drive and associated arousal subside. (Garrett, pg. 161) People are driven to other
behaviors that are not essential for survival, but they are driven by the same mechanisms to seek
out the satisfaction they would receive by giving in to their drive. An example of this would
people who suffer from addictions. This is not limited to drugs and alcohol, but people may suffer
addictions to gambling, food, and shopping as well. People are driven by the sense of reward they
feel. Just like when you eat and satisfy your hunger, food being the

Essay Comparing The Storm And The Story Of An Hour
Kate Chopin s The Storm and The Story of an Hour seem to be very similar in style by the way
she uses the era she lives in to make certain thoughts and ideas occur. Throughout both stories
Kate Chopin depicts how the women in her story are sexually oppressed and are looking for true
love.. She also shows how during her time in life women seemed to struggle with unhappy
marriages and false feelings of love.
The Storm is about a young boy and father that venture out and are soon caught in the middle of
storm. So they stop a local store for shelter but are worried for Clixta who is the boy s mother and
man s wife. While at home, Clixta is worried about her family as well but is soon visited by an

of her husband and son being stuck at a store during the storm and allows her ex lover to take

There are different reasons why each hero becomes valued as a leader. They represent the world s innermost hopes and dreams, and the villain it s secret fears and nightmares. There are a number of ways to achieve sustainability using a number of different methods. A key aspect of sustainability for any business is Stakeholder Engagement. Only by reaching out to all of their stakeholders will a business be able to create a competitive advantage while still being sustainable. Business sustainability is achieved when the business successfully manages the triple bottom line. This is the process of managing the financial, social and environmental risk that a certain business will face. Cavender and Kahane (2014) define reasoning as inferring from what we already know or believe to something else (375). However, being able to reason well is not necessarily an inherent gift given to all at birth. Coming to strong, insightful, and true conclusions requires previous experience and acquired knowledge. Perhaps what s most interesting is that the effects of reasoning whether good or bad are seen everywhere from the most micro to the most macro of situations. People who hold different worldviews often clash on a personal level, but when cultures or nations have conflicting worldviews, they can create tension and spark antagonism internationally ... • 7. Lyndon B. Johnson And The Great Society Essay Lyndon B. Johnson and The Great Society Lyndon Baines Johnson introduced the Great Society, a strategic plan of action to propose environmental cleanup, decreasing poverty, and helping to further fund education during his state of the union address in 1965 in a poetic manner. He spoke of it as a destination that the American people would work toward. Johnson s address gave many Americans hope and faith in a better world after feeling so much pain following the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Americans were anxious to move forward as a nation in support of the changed Johnson proposed. The Great Society was a proposed plan of actions intended to benefit the American people. Johnson developed the Great Society in a utopian fashion that proposed programs concerning the cities, the environment and education which in return brought modern liberalism into turmoil and broadened the administrative state. Taking office after the assassination of John F. Kennedy put tremendous pressure on Johnson. Not only did he have his own ideas, he also needed to fulfill the legacy left by Kennedy. In order to do both, he created the Great Society. Johnson wished to create the glue that kept the American people together and according to Paul C. Aiken and John M. Redding (1965) he fulfilled his famous words of, Let us continue... while addressing the country after that fatal day in Dallas and passing several acts to better the country. • 9. Compare And Contrast Abraham Lincoln And The Civil War In order to understand the American Civil War, one must know more about the leaders who controlled both sides. As many Americans know, Abraham Lincoln participated in the command of troops on the Northern side of the conflict. On the Southern side, a very influential leader was also present; Nathan Bedford Forrest was a well known general in the South and was renowned for his brilliant tactics in combat. One is known as the great emancipator of the slaves, the other, as the first leader of the Ku Klux Klan(Biography: Nathan Bedford Forrest, n.d.). The roles could have been greatly reversed, had their upbringings been different. Despite their many differences, these two influential figures had a surprising amount of similarities. Abraham... Later in the 1860s, Forrest was chosen to be the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan (Biography: Nathan Bedford Forrest, n.d.). It was here where he led the Klan members on horseback to intimidate former slaves, republicans, and other northern civilians. In 1869, he reportedly disbanded the cult, and when later asked about his association, he denied all ties to the group. After this disbanding of the Ku Klux Klan, Forrest saw his businesses fail and would manage a prison camp until he succumbed to complications with diabetes (Biography: Nathan Bedford Forrest, n.d.).. When looking for similarities between Nathan Bedford Forrest and Abraham Lincoln, it is important to look at their upbringings. When the magnifying glass is put up to these influential figures, it is clear that they had extremely similar childhoods. Lincoln and Forrest both started out poor and would go on to teach themselves how to read and write. Later they would slowly rise to the occasion, and be put in a place of power. For Forrest, that is when he started making money as a cotton plantation owner; for Lincoln, it is when he became a lawyer and invested with politics. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Effects Of Substance Use Disorder On America s Prison... Introduction For the better part of the 20th century, those convicted of crimes and sentenced to serve time in prison, who also have an addiction have been treated unfairly. Substance use disorder has been viewed as a disease for decades now, and despite this, this disease is not being treated in America s prison systems properly. The recent sentencing of Cameron Douglas, son of legendary actor Michael Douglas, to four and one half years additionally in federal prison has brought this crucial injustice to light. Cameron was serving a five year sentence for various drug related charge and is an admitted addict of intravenous cocaine and heroin. Heroin was discovered in the cell he resided in, and in an unprecedented legal proceeding, Judge Richard Berman gave Cameron the longest sentence on record for a prisoner found to have drugs while incarcerated. Instead of receiving much needed treatment for his disorder, Cameron will spend nearly the same amount of time in prison as his original sentence called for. The Numbers Drug use and abuse is not a new problem for America s prison system, and is one which speaks to the larger issue corrupting the judicial system as a whole. As of 2013, of those prisoners serving at least a year long sentence, 51 percent (98,200) of them were serving for drug offenses (Carson, 2014). To contrast the incarcerated with those on probation and parole, some 25 percent (977,662) of the 3.9 million people on probation were charged with drug ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Examples Of Rambling Autobiography Rambling Autobiography Nicholas Hill My only memory of first grade is learning cursive and having far worse handwriting than other classmates. Probably my favorite memory from elementary school is recess and playing with friends. Middle school came around and was probably the first time I was really nervous to go to school, but by the end I realized how fun it was and all the trouble I got into. Before school every started for me I enjoyed playing outside climbing trees. Every time fall came around I looked forward to jumping in piles of leaves, carving pumpkins and halloween. In 8th grade I started skiing which is my favorite winter hobby. The first time I went on a airplane was last year(2016) when we went to Florida then took a cruise to the Bahamas. I m hate spiders and snakes especially big snakes and spiders. One of my favorite memories as a child is when went on a short vacation in New Hampshire and stayed in a really cool cabin with a stream behind it that made for the best sleep ever. Another time I went to New Hampshire was with my Aunt and Uncle and we stayed in a house they own near Hampton Beach, which was the first time I ever went to a big beach. In 6th grade my family and my friends family went to the Damariscotta Lake State Park almost every day and had barbecue chicken on the regular, along with hamburgers and hotdogs. We also went to the majority of state parks in Maine because we got a state park pass book and there is a challenge in it to get a stamp ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this manner, Toronto has been defined as the Belfast of Canada during the 19th century, since the massive populations of British Protestants often objected to the arrival of many Roman Catholic Irish coming during the Great Famine. Traditionally, Irish immigration into Toronto has often been a staple part of romantic images of integration, compassion (for starving Irish people), and cultural /ethnic tolerance, yet the struggles of the Irish people in Toronto define a larger ethnic conflict at the onset of the first Irish settlements. More so, the struggles of protestant Northern Irelandalso bled into conflicts between British protestant and Roman Catholic Irish. The Legislative Branch is, for the most part, in favor of legalizing abortion because the Senate and the House of Representatives all want women and fetuses to be protected. The Executive Branch favors abortionbecause they feel no child should be terminated in the late stage of a pregnancy. I will now explain how each branch played a role in making abortion legal under the constitution. First, the judicial branch has seen that laws blocking abortions are unconstitutional. The case Roe v Wade was the landmark case that contributed to women being able to have abortions. The United States Supreme Court came down with the decision of allowing a woman to terminate her pregnancy. The decision was based upon the Fourteenth Amendment which refers to privacy rights. Also, a judge, Myron H. Thompson, has declared the Women s Health and Safety Act unconstitutional. The Women s Health and Safety Act was related to the doctors performing abortions. In the case Planned Parenthood Southeast v. Strange the right to an abortion is constitutional like any other due process. However, the legislative branch finds having an abortion unconstitutional in certain circumstances. As early as 1981, the abortion debate shifted from the courts to Congress. According to the Collins dictionary, this is defined as those aspects of communication, such as gestures and facial expressions, that do not involve communication, but which may include non verbal aspects of speech itself (accent, tone of voice, speed of speaking, etc) . Used daily by humans and animals (Darwin 1972), NVC has a strong link to innate factors, and messages are sent unconsciously to the listener. Leadership plays a key role in the development of a positive and productive environment but it takes a commitment by all staff members to make this occur, grow and flourish. The types of relationships and interactions that occur among staff members easily translate to what occurs among the student body. As role models who have significant influence on learners at school , how teachers conduct their daily activities are very important. Students can easily sense any negative feelings teachers may have towards certain pupils and also fellow staff members. This is an important consideration for every educator. As indicated by Leana (2011), when teachers are good at their jobs and also talk to one another frankly and on a regular basis about what they do, student achievement improves significantly. This fact clearly demonstrates the importance of relationship building among teachers and administrators, which usually results in a successful school with a very positive atmosphere. However, the question arises as to what it takes to achieve this situation. As indicated by Brewster and Railsback (2003), there are many factors that mitigate against the development of ... • 29. The Importance Of Chemical Interaction Kinetics is essentially the study of reaction rates and how they can be affected. Factors such as concentration, pressure, temperature, and enzyme activity, are commonly tested regarding their impact on the rate of a reaction (Khan Academy, 2017). It is important to recognise and understand the components that affect the rate of chemical reactions as this allows control over the reaction process. Chemical reactions progress naturally at different rates. A chemical reactioninvolves the rearrangement of the molecular or ionic structure of substances as they change into other substances by the breaking of bonds in reactants and the formation of bonds in products (Wilbraham, 2002). Collision theory can be used to explain why chemical reactions proceed at different rates. Collision Theory states that atoms, ions and molecules must collide in order for a reaction to proceed and form products (Stubbings, 2017). Thus, the higher frequency of successful collisions, the faster the reaction rate will be. Kinetic theory states that particles of matter are in constant motion thus, kinetic energy is the energy acquired as a result of an object s motion (Wilbraham, 2002). In order for collisions to be successful however the molecules must acquire a minimum amount of kinetic energy called their activation energy and they must collide at a precise orientation. The rate of reaction can be modified with the appropriate knowledge and understandings of the factors affecting the collisions of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Second Noble Truth illustrates the cause of duhkha. It seems that craving is the cause of all sufferings. We can t stop from growing old, can t get rid of getting sick, and can t control dying or giving birth in the six realms. The physical changing itself already lets people down. Lack of ability to manage the physical changing makes us even more unsatisfied about lives. The second point is that we can t get permanent happiness. Although no one will deny that we feel happy sometimes, all pleasure we get will not last forever. For example, during the time I applied for universities and colleges for undergraduate study, I was so happy when I received the offer from UNC. I m excited, to fight for my country, for what s right, and for my people and to prove I m an honorable leader. This could, hopefully, improve my rank in the army. I don t trust Smith, I feel as if he may be a double agent . He used to ask me to deliver notes to strangers, or cover for him when he had to meet someone. One time, I went into his tent and three of his slaves were sitting in there, reading through the battle plans and eating our food. Some of the soldiers didn t get anything to eat that night and here these disgusting blacks were eating our food! How dare they! So I punished them like any true Confederate man would do. Ban All Advertising From The Tobacco Industry In 2001, there was an argument by the government of India trying to decide whether or not it was a good idea to ban all advertising from the tobacco industry. The government s main goal was to find a way to reduce the number of teenagers using tobacco. The government believed that these advertisements encouraged teens to start smoking or to continue smoking if they were doing it already. As expected, this situation created a lot of tension between the government and the tobacco industry. This created two sides: those in favor of the ban, and those against it. Those in favor of the ban argued that the government had the moral responsibility to make sure teens weren t smoking. They pointed out that tobacco causes millions of deaths every year, so it was important that the youth never started smoking in the first place. They also argued that the advertisements were too colorful or looked like cartoons which would get too much attention of children and, eventually, it would drive them to become smokers. The other argument that was made was that other countries had already done it, so India could do it as well. Finland, France, and Norway had implemented bans on advertising for tobacco products acting on what they believed was the best interest of their citizens. Part of the argument was that banning advertisements wasn t illegal, therefore, there was nothing to stop the government from implementing it. When quality was positioned second to sales growth and cost, even the iconic Toyota Motor Company s brand suffered as a string of recalls and safety concerns in recent years has shown. In many logistics situations, quality of service is concerned with selecting the right quantity of the right product in the right sequence in response to customer orders. For example, store orders must be picked from a range of thousands of skus (stock keeping units) at a Tesco RDC. This must be carried out accurately (correct sku, correct quantity) against tight delivery schedules day in and day out. Pick accuracy (for example, 99.5 per cent correct sku and correct quantity) is widely used to measure the quality of this operation. And increasing requirements for in store efficiencies mean that categories of product (for example, shampoos and toothpastes) need to be picked in a set sequence to facilitate direct to shelf delivery at the store. The Resurrection Of God s Glory Following the fall, mankind and the rest of creation are in an unnatural state of disorder, and mankind specifically is condemned to the reign of death and separation from God. However, through the Incarnation, Jesus Christ becomes human and begins to restore mankind to an elevated state, allowing for mankind and all of creation to serve as a full manifestation of Gods glory. As beings created in the image and likeness of God, mankind is born into relation and unity as exemplified by the Holy Trinity. Mankind is not a strictly necessary being, but rather a being God chose to create so as to share His goodness and love, making mankind a true manifestation of God s glory. St. Bonaventure explains that God created all things not to increase His glory, but to show it forth and to communicate it. However, following the original sin, mankind enters a fallen state characterized by death and a separation from God. In this sinful state, mankind is no longer living as our fullest selves and is failing to exemplify God s true glory. There are two primary synchronous machines, the synchronous generator and the synchronous motor. Both machines are very useful depending on the application necessary for their use. Depending on the external conditions, it is required to have an understanding of how the synchronous machine should be modeled for each use. The synchronous machine is commonly found in industrial settings, clocks, and power plants. The common factor between these fields is the requirement of running at a constant speed. The synchronous generators used in power plants are common because it is economically efficient to keep the generator running at a constant frequency. Depending on the application, the synchronous machines can be modeled proportionally between the mechanical frequency based on the number of poles and the frequency of current (see theory). Consequentially, the electrical radian frequency is determined be the electrical frequency. Modeling a synchronous machine is a simple task, provided the necessary parameters are known. Therefore, as I m trying to listen and highlight in my book, only thing I hear is the sound of her long nails tapping on her keyboard or her phone vibrating. Than during break she wants to ask me for the notes, because the teacher was moving too fast. Since this is still the first couple of weeks of school, I try to be a little more understanding, but I will not do someone s work just for them not to pay attention. Therefore today, when the test came around I had studied my butt off and scored very well. But for the girl that sits next to me, she complained that the test was too hard and how we didn t have the appropriate information to study for the test. In that moment, I found myself comparing our differences, I work hard for my grades. I study and work my butt off then there s those people that don t do anything in class but are the first ones to complain. The book recognized this as Social Comparison: Evaluating ourselves in terms of how we compare with others. (Page 66) Throughout the rest of my day, I noticed I compare myself to a lot of different people without even noticing. Like when I was driving home I saw all these people texting and driving, and I just could not help thinking like what the heck, I can t even look to the side without going into the other line so how in the world are they texting! I do not compare myself to other to prove whose better but I believe it just natural to compare others to yourself. While at home, I observe the unreserved self more than while am at school where I trend to be a little reserved. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. The Scientific Exploration Of Human Motivation 1. How do economic theories add to the scientific exploration of human motivation? Human motivation is a physiological drive that we all have inside ourselves. There is no way to completely avoid it. Some drives we have are for basic necessities of survival, like the feelings of thirst and hunger. Obviously we must give into the drive that our body is signaling to us we must have because food and water are essential for us to live. When our behavior is directed by means of survival this is something known as homeostasis. According to drive theory, the body maintains a condition of homeostasis, in which any particular system is in balance or equilibrium (C.L. Hull, 1951). Any departure from homeostasis, such as depletion of nutrients or a drop in temperature, produces an aroused condition, or drive, which impels the individual to engage in appropriate action such as eating, drinking, or seeking warmth. As the body s need is met, the drive and associated arousal subside. (Garrett, pg. 161) People are driven to other behaviors that are not essential for survival, but they are driven by the same mechanisms to seek out the satisfaction they would receive by giving in to their drive. An example of this would people who suffer from addictions. This is not limited to drugs and alcohol, but people may suffer addictions to gambling, food, and shopping as well. People are driven by the sense of reward they feel. Just like when you eat and satisfy your hunger, food being the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In The Story of an Hour they show that Mrs. Mallard is supposed to be sad about her husband dying especially in the time period when women were supposed to be loyal to their husbands. So when Mr. Mallard is reported dead from a train accident she is happy because for once in her life she is free from her horrible relationship. While In The Storm Clixta felt that her relationship between her and Bobbinet was slowly fading away, so she decides to take advantage of her husband and son being stuck at a store during the storm and allows her ex lover to take shelter in her house when she is fully aware that it will more than likely lead to them having sex which in this case it does.
