Effectiveness Of 4 Psychotherapies During The Treatment Of...
Crits christoph et al10 designed a trial to determine the effectiveness of 4 psychotherapies in the
treatment of cocaine dependent patients. In this multicenter study, 487 patients were randomized
into one of the four treatment groups: individual drug counseling (IDC) plus group drug
counseling (GDC), CBT plus GDC, SE plus GDC or GDC alone. Intervention included a 6 month
active phase of treatment and a 3 month booster phase and follow up of 3 months. All treatment
groups recorded significant improvements from baseline mean (SD) 30 days cocaineuse of 10.4
(7.8) days (median, 8.0; range, 1 30; n=487) to 3.4 (6.5) days (median, 0; range, 0 30; n = 387) at
12 months. Among the four groups, IDC plus GDC was superior on the number of cocaine use
days and also on the AddictionSeverity Index Drug Use Composite score. The authors noted that
despite the low average drug use found in in the IDC treated patients during the 12 month trial,
abstinence was not maintained in most patients as only 36%achieved 3 consecutive cocaine free
months. Discovering an effective pharmacotherapy for cocaine use disorder remains a top research
priority nationally since there are currently no FDA approved medication for the treatment of
cocaine dependence. While several classes of medications have shown some efficacy in some
phase two clinical trials, none has been proven to show consistency and lasting efficacy. Recent

Essay about Humanism, Cognitivism and Behaviourism
In this assignment I shall be exploring three theories of teaching and learning. They are Humanism,
Cognitivism and Behaviourism. I shall be explaining the main factors of the three theories and then
explaining how they can support effective teaching and learning in general and for myself
personally in my teaching role. The first theory I shall explore is Humanism.
Humanism stresses [a learner s] interests, individuality and creativity in short the [learner s]
freedom to develop naturally and from teacher domination (Lunenburg p.467).
When teaching a lesson a teacher is more of a facilitator when planning and delivering a lesson. An
effective humanistic approach is not one of teacher control (behaviourism) nor does it ... Show more

This is an active type of learning and more intrinsically motivating but there are risks involved in
delivering a lesson or task in this way. A tutor can confuse the class with inaccurate explanations
and a lack of knowledge on the tutor s part. The second sequence of learning is less intrinsically
motivating but can be better controlled by the tutor.
This second sequence of learning is known as deductive learning. This is preferred by the theorist
Ausabel.
Meaningful learning, according to Ausabel, entails acquiring new knowledge that links existing
knowledge and which can be easily retained and applied. (Gould p. 48)
Ausabel, in contrast to Bruner, believes that students need a structured set of instructions and
when that builds on existing learning it can contribute greatly to student understanding. Ausabel
also encourages the use of an advanced organiser . This can be applied at the beginning of the
lesson so the learner knows what to expect and the logical order in which they will receive
information. As mentioned before this a less risky way of learning but some may see it as
mollycoddling . I personally believe a mix of the two contributes to an effective lesson. To have an
advanced organiser at the beginning of the lesson, then being given the tasks in the logical order but
with the learner discovering the answers for themselves with the tutors help can

Lee Campbell Flight 811 Investigation
Lee Campbell Flight 811 Investigation Anthony Vallido Aviation Safety 409 Abstract United
Airlines Flight 811 left Honolulu bound for Auckland, New Zealand on February 24, 1989. A
few minutes in the flight the cargo doors blew out and because of the decompression, nine
passengers were immediately sucked out of the plane. The debris from the cargo door damaged
the planes Number 3 and 4 engines. Captain David Cronin prepared for an emergency landing.
The parents of one of the fatalities, Lee Campbell, investigated the accident because they want to
know what caused the cargo door to open in midair. Kevin and Susan Campbell were very
persistent and relentless in their fight to prove that the cause of the cargo door opening is a
malfunction... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From these documents they found information that was not released to the public. There were
reports that there disturbing problems with the forward cargo door going right back to its
original design. Instead of a plug door that gets jammed into its frame as the aircraft pressure
rises, Boeing opted for an outward opening door which allows for more cargo space but the door
is not failsafe like the plug design so Boeing built was they thought was a fool proof locking
mechanism. Boeing built in multiple redundancies to make sure the door is properly latched
and does not open. They built it to a point where it is extremely improbable for the door to open.
The Campbell s discovered that the problem lies with the locking mechanism. To lock the cargo
door on the 747, electric motors rotate C shaped latches around pins in the door frame. A handle
then moves L shaped arms known as locking sectors over the top of the C shaped latches to
prevent them opening. But as early as 1975, problems were found with the locking sectors. Kevin
Campbell, an experienced engineer, built a model to show the weakness of the Boeing design.
Initially the locking mechanisms were made of aluminum and in 1975 they did not realize that it
was not strong enough. The weakness of the aluminum drastically increased the risk of the door
accidentally opening. With the aluminum locking sectors, if the C locks tried to backwind open

The Boom in Robotic Population
Introduction According to the report of International Federation of Robotics in 2008 the world s
robot population has reached 8.6 million. That is a little less than the population of New Jersey
(Guizzo, Erico). From this data it is clear that lots of people do not realize how much they are
surrounded by robots already at the present time. Additionally from year to year number of these
robots is growing as technology and science are developing faster than it seems. This essay will
discuss drawbacks and benefits of using robots in the future, by evaluating negative and positive
impacts of robotics. Research will begin by evaluating the economic factors of using robots. It
will then proceed to investigate the social factors and will analyze the judgments of society.
Main body Economic factors of using robots From the economic point of view using robots is
not advantageous. Firstly in the future some jobs will become extinct. According to Rob
Rawson, co founder of Staff.com, after serious crashes caused by a human operated air traffic
controller, in 2034 the government will mandate that all air traffic must be controlled by Artificial
Intelligence agents. Moreover in 2028 Google is going to produce perfect audio translator,
indistinguishable from the best bi linguists. It means that human translators and interpreters will
lose their working places. Similarly as self driving cars become main stream, there will be no need
for taxi drivers by 2038 (Rawson, Rob). To conclude with

Stereotypes In Cold Blood
In Cold Blood, a book written by Truman Capote, details about a murder case in 1959 in Holcomb.
The four victims in this book where apart of the Christian church which in their community, which
was very ethnically diverse, Christianity was the most popular religion.
In the book we see that Christianity was more than just a religion, it was their way of living. The
villagers went by Gods words and they would socialize in the church. We also notice that in the
book Capote creates the following stereotype: good people are believers of the lord and bad people
are followers of Satan or are lost.
The way that he creates this is by using the following non believers of the lord characters to
represent this stereotype: Perry and Dick. Perry in the story reveals to have homosexual
tendencies, which in Christianity homosexuality is a sin, and Dick represents the seven deadly
sins. Dick desires money, sex, and power while Perry only desires to be loved and to get an
education. In the story it is revealed that Perry at one point was catholic but because of the abuse
that he suffered in the catholic orphanage he stopped believing in God and became lost. As a child
Perry had vision of a huge golden bird which he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

left the orphanage he would have become a successful man because although he is a murder he
still desired education. He failed the third grade but he still wanted to learn new vocabulary,
read, and write. As for Dick he just straight up does not care about education. Although Dick is
not the brightest crayon in the crayon box he is very street smart and charming. What drove
Dicks morals was not God but the Devil. Dick was lost by all the greed and lush he desired and he

The For The American Education System
Traci is a student in the fall semester in Tyler Junior college. She is from India and still very new
to the American Education System. English is not her first language, but she is extremely
grateful going to college in America and having her childhood dream come true. After all, her
green card is still in process and she is unable to get a job or get any kind of funds to help her
with her education. She has to pay for all her expenses out of her pocket, which is very difficult,
given her current financial situation. Fortunately, Tyler Junior college offers an installment tuition
fees, which helps students like Traci to go to college. She depends on the library for the reserve
textbookswithout having to buy her own.
During the first week of the school, two professors had given her assignments to read a chapter
before she came to the next class. That day, she had a couple of hours before she headed out to
volunteer work that she signed up for at church, so she decided to go to the library after class and
finish the assignments. She went to the front desk at the library, and asked for the two reserved
textbooks. The person behind the desk, informed Traci, that students are allowed to check out one
book at a time. Fair enough she thought, and she checked out a text book, found an empty table,
sat down, and opened up the chapter that she wanted to read. Guess what? Her jaw dropped,
because that chapter had 32 pages. It may not be a lot for many students, but knowing that

Thyroid Gland ( Tg )
Introduction
Thyroid gland (TG) secretes thyroxin and triiodothyronine (Garber et al., 2012). Its main
function is to make hormones and main job is to produce hormones T4 and T3 (Mortimer,
2011). To do this the human TG has to take a form of iodine from the bloodstream into the human
TG (Garber et al., 2012). This substance then undergoes a numerous of different chemical
reactions which resulted in the production of T3 and T4 (Mortimer, 2011). In order to make T4
and T3, TG needs iodine, a substance found in the food, both T4 and T3 contains four atoms of
iodine. T4 is then converted to T3 through the cells and tissues of the human body. More active
hormone is T3, because it influences the activity of all the cells and tissues of the human body.
Thyroid is controlled by hormones produced by hypothalamus and pituitary. Besides, these secreted
hormones in the TG are essential for normal growth, better development and metabolic function.
Thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH) stimulates the pituitary to secrete TSH which in turn acts on
the TG to cause synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones. Altered thyroid function is common
and respectively the release of TRH and TSH enable feedback of the hormones on the pituitary and
hypothalamus to inhibit synthesis. For example, a prevalence of hypothyroidism has been reported
in the literature that up to ten percentage in the general population is possible expected to occur.
It is an essential to have accurate assays of thyroid

Integrity In Sir Thomas More s A Man For All Seasons
In A Man for All Seasons, Sir Thomas More, the plot s protagonist, displays a reoccurring theme of
integrity. According to Webster s Dictionary, integrity is the adherence to moral and ethical
principles; and soundness of moral character. Dedicated to not losing himself by consenting to the
King s divorce, Thomas Morecontinually shows the adherence to his moralityrather than the wishes
of those around him. Even though this historic drama ultimately ends in the beheading of Sir
Thomas More, his integrity shows his devotion towards himself, his piety towards his country, and
his self respect that contrasts with the other characters.
The theme of integrity is portrayed through More s devotion to himself. The author, Robert Bolt,

For instance, Richard s god is Cromwell because Cromwell is the one who forms his identity.
Rich s selfishness shows his undeveloped morals because he hangs loosely off of friends, like
Cromwell, morphing into any character Cromwell would like so that he will not be off of
payroll. Richard s morals are distinguished by his way to form into whatever character a position
holds, which contrasts with More s morals because More will not be anything except himself.
Rich s selfishness in pleasing his own self reflects the morals that he has because he has a desire
to have power, popularity, and recognition from society.. A man with an adamantine sense of his
own self . . . could yield to the encroachments of his enemies . . . a clever man and a great lawyer.

Robert Bolt spoke of Thomas More in the preface, and it can only suggest that Richard Rich is
ultimately the opposite of More. (Bolt, xii) Also in the preface, Robert Bolt writes, if anything, then

you are nothing because there is nothing special about you. Additionally, More says that he

Great Recession And The Great Depression
GREAT ECONOMIC TIMES IN AMERICA
The Great Recession and the Great Depression are the fallout of the exact same economic
problems and are only different in a few respects. Each period is marked by a massive run ups in
asset prices followed by a crash in the stock market and sent both debt and equity markets down.
These periods are said to be the worse economic downturn in the country s history. During the great
depression, as banks failed and threatened to shut down the financial system altogether, President
Franklin Roosevelt moved quickly and effectively to address the most dangerous financial crisis of
the Great depression. The massive stock market collapse that began in October 1929 erased
massive amounts of wealth and because many banks had invested heavily in the markets, and had
lent recklessly to speculative investors, the banks found themselves without sufficient capital and in
many cases without reserves. He created the New Deal which responded to an unemployment rate
that had reached 25 percent, and in some cities as much as 75 percent. He signed the Emergency
Banking Act, which allowed inspectors to evaluate troubled banks and decide whether or not they
could reopen. The Glass Steagall Act created a barrier between commercial and investment banking
and established the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, which guaranteed that citizens would
not lose their bank deposits even if a bank failed.
Hooverville was a name created after President Hoover, emphasizing

Pillow For Neck Pain
There are quite a few things that can cause neck pain. This is something that happens to everyone
once in a while, and it is usually either accidental injury or improper posture while doing certain
activities. Neck pain can ruin your whole day, especially if you can not move your head in any
direction without feeling a lot of pain. When you have pain your your neck or even your upper
back, most of the time it is a muscle problem and it will resolve within a few days with the right
tools. One of those tools should be a pillow for neck pain.
If you have recurring problems with neck pain, you may want to have it checked out. There could
be a problem with your upper spine. On the other hand, if you just have pain once in a while and

Persuasive Essay On Homework
Homework is defined as tasks assigned to students by school teachers that are intended to be carried
out during nonschool hours (Voorhees). Throughout the United States history, people s opinions
have varied on the topic of homework. Historically, variation in the opinions of homework have
shifted over time due to educational trends and world events. Today, the topic of homework
continues to cause debate among various organizations and schools of thought. Although
homework has demonstrated positive effects on students, homework should not be given to
students because it is not assigned appropriately, stressful for everyone, and does not benefit all
students. While there are many negatives towards assigning homework, there are a few positives
that should be mentioned. In the journal, The Case For and Against Homework , Robert Marzano
and Debra Pickering state, The average student in a class in which appropriate homework was
assigned would score 23 percentile points higher on tests of the knowledge addressed in that class
than the average student in a class in which homework was not assigned (76). This testing success
that students receive from doing homework can reinforce positive attitudes toward school and
homework. Performing assignments at home can give students the extra practice to fully master a
subject matter taught. Mastering skills and improving grades can provide a student with a sense of
confidence in him/herself. By providing students extra practice at

The Effects Of Digital And Traditional On The Classroom
Many adults think that because children and young adults have immersed in technology at a young
age, they are naturally literate or skilled in using technology. Younger generations have been
labeled as digital native or tech savvy individuals. Unfortunately, this labeling is not as true as most
believe. Today s students are no more literate with digitaldevices than their parents are. Digital
literacy requires a much broader spectrum of skills than traditional reading requires. Skills that must
be taught and obtained through practice and repetition. Some teachers have recognized these skills
as critical for the new millennium and are now finding ways to incorporate them into classrooms;
by providing digital reading materials. However, it is important that we find a balance between
traditional and digital reading. Reading is an extremely important part of learningand should be
altered cautiously. Using digital and traditional readings in the classroom will be the most
effective way to build a wide variety of skills that are essential and will offer a much greater
opportunity to gain knowledge. After all, the more knowledge we possess, the more likely we are to
tackle any challenge we ever face. Many educators still struggle to understand their evolving role
and how technology is shifting in education. Some have even questioned why it is necessary to
incorporate technology into education when students already spend so much time staring at smart
phones and computer

Diversity In 12 Angry Men

him, and his alibi is faulty. A unanimous guilty verdict by the jury will reserve him a spot in the
electric chair, and his chances of being proven innocent seem little to none. Yet, in the story 12
Angry Men, through the time consuming process of reading over and picking apart each piece of
evidence in a painfully careful manner, a jurycomes to a final verdictof not guilty. It was originally
written as a teleplay by Reginald Rose in 1954, but then later adopted as a screenplay by Sidney

The director may have done this in order to add a certain vintage feel to the movie, or for a
reason never specified. The time period did, however, affect the diversity in the movie. Coming
out only a mere three years after the play, not much had been done to make progress towards
acceptance of diversity, and the movie followed the character descriptions in the play essentially
exactly. The film also contained open smoking within a closed space, which is a reflection of
the time period as well, for it is rare to find this currently. One specific detail exclusive to the
original movie, similar to the ticket fact of the play, was the existence of rain at the end of the
film. The director may have also felt this would add to the mood of the movie, as the black and

message as well. Juror #8 compassionately helps juror #3 with his coat after he had cried and

The Paperwork Reduction Act Of 1980
The Paperwork Reduction Act is a federal law of the United States of America that was designed
to help reduce the burden of the amount of paperwork given to businesses and private
individuals by the federal government. The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, Pub. L. No. 96
511, 94 Stat. 2812 (Dec. 11, 1980), codified in part at Subchapter I of Chapter 35 of Title 44 of the
United StatesCode, 44 U.S.C. В§ 3501 through 44 U.S.C. В§ 3521, is a United States federal law
enacted in 1980 that gave authority over the collection of certain information to the Office of
Management and Budget (OMB). Within the OMB, the Office of Information and Regulatory
Affairs (OIRA) was established with specific authority to regulate matters regarding federal
information and to establish information policies. These information policies were intended to
reduce the total amount of paperwork handled by the United States government and the general
public. This act established the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs within the Office of
Management and Budget. It also creates procedural requirements for federal agencies that intend
to give the public a recordkeeping or reporting requirement. For example, a federal agency would
be required to inform the public on the value or importance of each field on a form. This act also
states that all federal agencies must receive approval form the Office of Management and Budget

The Use of Salicylic Acid in Medicine
The medical field uses acids and bases all of the time because, our body uses acids and bases every
day to try to get the PH levels as neutral as possible in our bodies. The neutral PH level in our
bodies is 7.3.When your organs stop neutralizing acids and bases you need medical help. If the
pH level goes over an acidity or basic level it can be really dangerous. That applies to almost
every reaction in your metabolism. Due to the fact that our body needs, and produces acids and
bases, I m going to touch on three. The first Acidis Salicylic Acid, most people have probably heard
if not used this common acid, for acne, warts, dandruff, and much more. The basethat I will be
talking about, Hydrogen Peroxide is used all the time typically for handling infected scrapes, burns
and minor cuts. Last but not least is, Alginate Acid, which is normally used or associated for
packing a wound, but is actually quite common, just unnoticed, like in your processed foods, and
fire retardants. Without the use of acids and bases in medicine, our pHlevels in our bodies wouldn t
be able to stay at a neutral 7.3 level.
Salicylic Acid is a common type of Acid used in the Medical world. This acid is used on the skin to
treat common skin blemishes, acne, dandruff, corn, calluses, and hand and foot warts. Salicylic
acid, will progressively peel off the wart, or reduce swelling, redness, and blocked pores for acne.
Salicylic acid is a keratolytic agent. It works and acts like an aspirin. It works

Effect Of Artificial Sweeteners On Body Weight And Caloric...
Millions of people around the world indulge in foods and drinks containing the leading artificial
sweetener, aspartame. Since the discovery of this substance in 1965, copious studies have been
conducted to determine the possible health effects it may have. Aspartame includes two ingredients:
aspartic acid and phenylalanine. Both are naturally occurring amino acids that are produced by our
bodies and obtained from food. Although aspartamewas created as a healthier alternative to reduce
sugarintake, activists debate links between aspartame and a multitude of ailments ranging from
weight gain to cancer. Nevertheless, food and beverage companies continue to mass market
products including artificial sweeteners. Therefore we must ask... Show more content on

Therefore, overweight individuals who choose to consume artificial sweeteners can prevent weight
gain. Furthermore, when artificially sweetened beverages were compared to water in a short term
weight loss program, subjects consuming artificially sweetened beverages actually lost significantly
more weight and reported considerably less feelings of hunger (Peters et al., 2014). Thus, the
increased satisfaction obtained from consuming a sweet beverage can lead to reduced overall
caloric intake. Finally, researchers Pandurangan, Park, and Kim (2014) studied the impact of
aspartame on adipogenesis, or the formation of fatty tissue. When adipocytes were treated with
aspartame, there was significantly reduced lipid accumulation as well as down regulation of
chemical receptors critical for adipogenesis. Therefore, this information suggests that aspartame
may be a potent substance to alter adipocyte differentiation and control obesity (Pandurangan, Park,
Kim, 2014). So, not only does consuming aspartame behaviorally help with adherence to weight
loss programs, but also is chemically proven to control obesity. Besides weight maintenance
benefits, there are other health benefits to consider. Aspartame sweetened drinks present a sweet
alternative for diabetic patients. Research shows that the

Holding Up The Universe Summary
HOLDING UP THE UNIVERSE by:JENNIFER NIVEN
The story that I choose to read was Holding Up The Universe by Jennifer Niven. I originally
choose to read this book because it s cover looked very interesting to me. The title hooked me
and reading the book has been nothing but interesting. The book was about to teenagers whose
worlds were completely different but were both the exact opposite of ideal. They were both
struggling through hard times until they found each other. I would recommend other people my

Universe stands strong in teaching that you must always stand up for who you are and what you
stand for no matter who hates against you. You should make decisions that will result in your
happiness and you will get out of life what you have given it. This is a strong message to hold
onto for the young generation of today. We still have massive amounts of peer pressure that try to
get a person to think that it is better to go with the flow instead of standing up for who you are.

The Stress Of Civilian Life
The Stress of Civilian Life
Belinda Maio
Liberty University Abstract
The stress that a soldier faces when they leave the military can be overwhelming. Most soldiers
enlist out of high school or College. They go from living with their parents to living within the
fortress of military institutions. They are given everything that they need while they are in the
service. They learn to live a certain type of life. This life is organized and there is little that the
servicemen need to figure out for themselves. They have everything that they can ever need right
on the base where they live. Then after years of service, they are retired or they do not reenlist.
Now this is where their stress begins. They are faced with now finding ... Show more content on

This is not a flaw of the military servicemen and woman it is just the way the system is set up.
The Money
Going from the military life to being a civilian can put a financial hardship on the family mostly if
the servicemen are unable to find work when they get out of the military. The family is then forced
to go on a tight budget. In order to understand the hardship on the servicemen it is important to
understand how the military works as far as money, and benefits that the servicemen are given and
how they helped them make ends meet.
In the military, servicemen are used to getting money for their food, rent, and clothing. Every
month in the military depending on your rank, you get B.H.A. This stands for Basic Housing
Allowance. The higher rank you are the more money you get. So in a sense you are living rent
free and can possibly make money if your rent is lower than your B.HA.
Then you get B.A.S which stands for Basic allowance for subsistence. Now this is a set amount.
There is a single amount and a married amount. This money is used for groceries each month.
The military member also gets a clothing allowance. This is set to your rank also. There is also the
cost of living allowance. So if you live in a place which has a high cost of living you would receive
an adjustment to make up for this and so you can afford to live there.
Along with all the money that the servicemen and woman get there are also bonus pays for combat,
hazardous duty pay,

Sophocles
Sophocles was conceived in Colunus, Greece. He passed on a mid 406 B.C. Sophocles is the
child of Sophilus, an affluent part of a little group. He had a noticeably anxious life. Sophocles
experienced childhood in the town of Colonus, just outside Athens, which was the setting of his
disaster Oedipus at Colonus. Sophocles was a minister of Halon and helped present the faction of
Asclepius, lord of medication, to Athens. He was regarded post mortem as a saint. His father,
Sophillus, thought to have been an affluent aristocrat, sent his child to Athens for an instruction.
Sophocles was the second of the 3 greatest Greek writers of tragedy (with Aeschylus and
Euripides). He is known best for what he wrote about Oedipus, the mythological figure who proved
central to Freud and the history of psychoanalysis. He lived through most of the 5th century,
experiencing the Age of Pericles and the Peloponnesian War. He had a first marriage with
Nicostrata, by whom he turned into the father of Iophon. Sometime down the road he had an
association with a certain Theoris, a lady of Sicyon. He additionally had a child called Ariston.
Other three children are specified by name, albeit nothing is thought about them. Some additionally
said that in amazing maturity, Sophocles became hopelessly enamored with the mistress Archippe,
whom he made beneficiary of his property. This is ruined by the way that Athenian laws were

In the past authorities have acted immediately after a widely publicized disaster showing that there
has been complacency in the disaster planning and preparedness. During the Hurricane Katrina, the
U.S government was blamed for poor crisis management and slow response, particularly the
authority s failure to provide adequate personnel during the rescue missions. After the Katrina
disaster, the U.S government learned a lot after the analysis of the whole event was conducted.
First, the U.S government agreed that it was not prepared for a disaster of that magnitude. The
government also learned that there were complacency and inefficiency in leadership that resulted in
delays and logistic problems. The U.S government failed to share information with the public during

To What Extent Does Williams Portray Stanley as the Cause...
To what extent does Williams portray Stanley as the cause for Blanche s downfall?
A Street Car Named Desire is a play written by a Mississippi born writer called Tennessee Williams.
A Street Car Named Desire shows a reversal of fortune with Blanche having a life full of fortune
with a successful business and a happy marriage however it is all turned upside when all this
fortune is removed out of her life resulting in her seeking refuge with a lower class family her
sister got married into... this fits in with Aristotle s theory of tragedy because there is a reversal of
fortune, bringing out feelings of fright and sympathy to the audience. Blanche might have been a

Blanche always wore white clothes which Williams might have purposefully done this to show her
desire to be pure, to cleanse herself of her past.
It seems that Williams has made it seem that Stanley did not cause Blanches downfall to much
extent that he only sped up Blanche s decline as she was already on a decline, regardless of
Stanley s added affects. However it can be argued that although Blanche was on the verge of a
downfall she would have recovered as she had the strength to go to her sister for help. Yet it can
be said that Stanley stopped Blanche recovering and aided her downfall to continue. Williams
shaped Stanley s character as a dominant, prideful and somewhat possessive one... I believe that
he is mainly sexually possessive as once Blanche questioned Stella on why she loves Stanley she
admitted that it was because, he fulfils her sexual and sensual desires with a steady life.
Remember what Huey Long said `Every Man is a King! And I am the king around here, so don t
forget it! Stanley was the dominant character between him and Stella however, with the arrival of
Blanche Williams disrupts their simple life; Blanche criticizes his private life his character, his
views and beliefs. Therefore Stanley turns against her this could be argued the cause for Stanley to
start breaking her down, wanting

Reasons For The Hostages Were Journalists And Aid Workers
ISIL continued to demand ransom payments and other concessions from foreign governments in
exchange for the return of hostages, and it executed the hostages if the governments refused.
Most of the hostages were journalists and aid workers, but in late December 2014 the group
captured a Jordanian pilot after his fighter jet crashed during a mission against ISIL in Syria.
News of the pilot s capture met with consternation in Jordan, where a large proportion of the
public had opposed the country s participation in the anti ISIL coalition. Support for military

To help mitigate the manpower losses, IS has turned to conscription in some areas. Iraqi expert
Hisham al Hashimi believes only 30% of the group s fighters are ideologues , with the remainder
joining out of fear or coercion. A significant number of IS fighters are neither Iraqi nor Syrian. In
October 2015, National Counterterrorism Center Director Nicholas Rasmussen told Congress
that the group had attracted more than 28,000 foreign fighters. They included at least 5,000
Westerners, approximately 250 of them Americans, he said. Studies by the London based
International Centre for the Study of Radicalization and Political Violence (ICSR) and the New

Robert Frost, Home Burial, By Robert Frost
One of the most influential poets of all time is Robert Frost he is a staple in any literature class.
He has a majestic way with words and is able to project imagery in ways that many people wish
they could. Students might not realize under these beautifully written poems there is a man pouring
his heart and soul out into them. Robert Frostsuffered from a very difficult life where deathand
depression was around every corner. Once readers realize what kind of life Frost had, it
becomes apparent on how dark many of his poems really are. I feel like Frost was alone and the
only way for him to let people know his situation was putting it in words. Home Burial is a
particularly dark poem about the death of a child which I feel as if it is an homage to his
children who have passed away, and his way of giving his grief life. The Road Not Taken talks
about the life choices you make and whether they are the correct choice to make, and Mending
Wall talks about have social and mental walls that separate people. These poems were all written

What Is The Difference Between Igbo And Ibo
The Ibo village and Maine are very different cultures and celebrate things differently. In the
village, Okonowko has 2 titles in his young age. He is a hard working man and he doesn t like
festivals because he would rather be farming his land. Some similarities between Okonowko s
village of Ibo and Maine are that both harvestfestivals have music. In the village of Ibo they beat on
loud drums and in Maine we have a band playing covers of songs during a harvest festival. Also, in
Maine we come together during this celebration and talk to each other and the same goes for the
village people. In Maine and Ibo there are events that are planned for the festival, giving the
people things to do there. In contrast, the harvest festival is different for both communities.
During the Village of Ibo s harvest festival they praise there earth goddess because they believe
she is the judge of morality and conduct, in Maine we don t do so because there are many
different types of religions within Maine. Also, in Ibo they have wrestling matches and in Maine
we don t participate in wrestling matches for the harvest festival. Instead, in Maine we walk
around to food stands and look at decorated pumpkins. From this evidence I can assume that
religion is a priority in the Ibo village, where as socializing is Maine s priority during its harvest
festivals.
In the Ibo village, their justice court is very similar to Maine s. In both societies a group of people

By this he meant that if they can sell the items the public will buy then the result will be to make

Smith s head this system not only makes the baker, butcher, and brewer wealthy, but also the nation

For the same mechanical load, the armature current varies with field excitation over a wide range.
When over excited, the motor supplies vars to the grid and when under excited it absorbs vars from

Disadvantages of Sync Condensers:
Considerable losses in the motor.
Maintenance cost is high due to rotating component.
At low power rating the cost is high compared to static capacitors method.
As the synchronous equipment is not self starting, so extra excitation equipment is needed for that

Free trade policy runs smoothly if all the countries follow the same. If some countries do not adopt
it, the system cannot work gainfully.
2. Free trade may prove advantageous to developed and technologically advanced nations, but less
developed countries are certainly at a disadvantage on account of unfavorable terms of trade.
3. Competition induced under free trade is unfair and unhealthy. Backward countries cannot
compete with advanced countries.
4. Gains of trade are not equally distributed under free trade due to unequal state of development of
different countries.
5. A country with unfavorable balance of payments finds it difficult to overcome this situation under
free trade policy.
6. Free trade may encourage interdependence and discourage self sufficiency. But, in the matter of
defense each country should have self reliance and self sufficiency as far as possible.
Despite the clamor of the classical economists about the advantages of the free trade, the policy has
either not been adopted by many countries or abandoned by those who had already adopted it.
Economic history indicates that for the last two centuries, international trade has developed with

An Angry God Edwards
Hailey Smith September 14, 2015
Essay
Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God Jonathan Edwards memorable sermon, Sinners in the Hands
of an Angry God , was first delivered in 1741 in Enfield, Connecticut during the peak of New
England s first Great Awakening. When he delivered this sermon with horrid descriptions of hell,
the congregation listened. It left a dramatic effect on the listeners leaving them weeping, and some
even considering suicide! Jonathan Edwards conveyed his message to turn their lives back to
religion and repent to their god by his use of tone, emotional appeal, and imagery. To begin,
Jonathan Edwards got his message across to the congregation by his use of tone. Edwards used
repetition throughout his sermon to express ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unconverted men walk over the pit of hell on a rotten covering... (Edwards 122). Here he is
giving very vivid imagery. He is showing that unconverted men, or people not reborn again, are
walking a very thin line to an unpleasant afterlife. The God that holds you over the pit of hell,
much as one holds a spider, or some loathsome insect over the fire, abhors you, and is dreadfully
provoked:his wrath towards you burns like fire...: (Edwards 123). In this metaphor Edward does
a perfect job of comparing a spider to them. He is saying that they unworthy, like a spider, and
that they are worthy of nothing else but the fire. You hang by a slender thread, with the flames of
divine wrath flashing about it... and you have no interest in any Mediator, and nothing to lay hold
of to save yourself, nothing to keep off the flames of wrath, nothing of your own, nothing that you
ever have done, nothing that you can do, to induce God to spare you one moment... (Edwards 124)
In the section Edwards is trying to have the crowd imagine themselves hanging by a very small
thread, with nothing to help them. Nothing in the moment can help them with their fate, and it has
already been decided what will happen to them. To sum it up, Edward s sermon is filled with an
abundance of imagery to frighten listeners into seeking God and avoiding

Inventory and Forecast
3. Based on the description in the text and the evidence in the Exhibits 6 and 9, what went
wrong with the SF 6000 forecast? Launching the first 8 megapixel sensor and 10x zoom camera
on the market was a big accomplishment for Leitax. On their official press release, the SF 6000
was named as an a tool for serious photographers . There were huge expectations about the
product and everyone at the company was pretty excited about it. Their biggest challenge was the
forecast for a new product with huge expectations and great reviews. It was no easy task given all
the parts involved were blinded by excitement, and according to their new model of forecast, the
final number should be a consensus between all the interested functions. Leitax... Show more

Ignoring capacity was an issue. By doing that, if maxim capacity was reached, there was a huge
possibility of backordering and that would translate in decrease of velocity, inaccurate planning
and worse: unhappy customer. Capacity should considered into forecast and planning. The CP
should focus on sell in as it is more attractive to the retailers, the product is closer to final
customer so there is improvement on the supply chain, not to mention the costs over the
inventory. Also, the compensation metric for sales used should be the percentage of sell in that
became sell through. This way, Leitax would make sure that they are not boosting the numbers as
they are compensated by the percentage of sell in that became sell through. The company would
have more accurate numbers and it would not incur on permanent inventory costs as they forecast
would be more accurate. CP should not be reviewed monthly basis, but it should be a
intermediate range term and check point every quarterly. On the other hand, sales, marketing and
production should work closely on a weekly, monthly basis to determine the best course of action
to achieve the optimal balance between supply and demand while meeting the expected forecast.
They also should be able to provide an accurate response and predict if anything had changed and
it needed to be reviewed by DMS. that brought formalityformality to the process and a new process

Analysis Of Bachmann Gambling Addiction
Bachmann Gambling Addiction
In The Neurology of Free Will, Charles Duhigg puts a special importance on habits their inner
working and how they can change. Duhigg describes how habits work through the cycle of cue,
routine, and reward. Angie Bachmann from being a bored housewife to losing all her money
through uncontrollable gambling.
Angie Bachmann mother of 3 children, got addicted to gambling felt lonely at home, when her
husband went to work and children went to school. Bachmann had gotten married young and had
become pregnant almost right away. She had never held down a meaningful job. One morning,
She was sitting at home, staring at the television, so bored that she was giving serious thought to
reorganizing the silverware drawer (Duhigg). That morning the trouble began. She was really
bored, so at about noon, Bachmann drove to a riverboat casino. She played and lost 40 dollars.
After that first trip to the casino, Bachmann started going to the riverboat once a week. Then twice
a week. Over the next decade, Bachmann played regularly. She went whenever she fought with her
husband or was just bored. At the tables she was numb and excited, all at once. The high of
winning was so immediate. The pain of losing passed so fast. According to Duhigg states First,
there is a cue, a trigger that tells your brain to go into automatic mode. Then there is the routine the
behavior itself which can be physical or mental or emotional. Finally, there is a reward, which helps

Demeter Vs. The Herdsman And The Weaver
In mythology, there are many stories, tales, or myths that have many things in common. Along with
these similarities, are differences. Just like other myths that we have read, the myths Demeter and
The Herdsman and the Weaver contain many similar characters, plot, and possibly setting.
Both myths have a similar character and a plot; a king and two people who care deeply for each
other but are seperated. In the first myth Demeter, Hades (the king of the underworld) stole
Persephone (the daughter of Demeter) away from her mother (Demeter), who was the goddess of
grains and fruit. Hades took Persephone to the underworld because he wanted her as his bride and
thought she would brighten up his life. Demeter became very depressed and along with her
happiness, the world started to die. Similar to the first myth, in The Herdsman and the Weaver
there was also a king. The king decided to find his lovely daughter, the greatest weaver in the
world, a husband. He discovered a herdsman who he thought would make a fine husband. After the
young couple was married, they started to spend all their time together frolicking in the fields. The
king warned them not to abandon their talent and work but they did not listen, so the king decided
to punish them. The king made the herdsman live in the Eastern sky and his daughter in the
western sky. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Aschenbach s Ethos In Anthony
follows him everywhere, just like how Aschenbach will become obsessed with Tadzio and will
follow him everywhere (Jalic). Aschenbach sees artistic aesthetic when he looks at Tadzio, but
he doesn t look for an Apollonian form in Tadzio, he looks for a Dionysian form. Aschenbach
compares Tadzio s beauty to the Eros. Eros is a Greek god depicted as a beautiful and carefree
young man. Eros is the god of love and passionate, physical desire (Cartwright). Without warning
[Eros] selects his targets and forcefully strikes at their hearts, bringing confusion and irrepressible
feelings or in the words of Hesiod he loosens the limbs and weakens the mind (Cartwright). This
Dionysian comparison suggests that Aschenbach is giving in more and more to... Show more

Aschenbach likes to think that in their relationship, he would be the boy s mentor. However,
these are not Achenbach s true feelings for Tadzio. He has fallen hopelessly in love with Tadzio
and his Apollonian qualities are trying to make him reason that he only is appreciating the
stunning physical beauty that the boy possesses. But, Aschenbach s inner Dionysian qualities are
coming forward and he is experiencing emotions that he has never experienced before. These
powerful new emotions are making him do things he would not normally do. It may have been
that [Aschenbach] did not wish to return to reality, that he was too much in love with his own
intoxication (Mann 40). Aschenbach is letting his Dionysian qualities take over and experiencing
feelings and indulgences he never let himself have before. He learns Tadzio s schedule and no
longer wished for anything else than to pursue the beloved object that inflamed him (Mann 47).
Whenever Aschenbach watches Tadzio, he is filled with happiness and awe. But when Aschenbach
can t find Tadzio, he is filled with dread and fear. Aschenbach has almost completely relaxed his
ability to control his emotions and is allowing himself to give into erratic

Lao-Tzu And Climate Change
Lao tzu believes that the world cannot be improved. This is because the world is a sacred place.
That it cannot be changed because if we try to, the world would be ruined. Today we are facing
the idea of Climate change. Much of the world cannot decide it this phenomenon is because of
natural causes or if it is because of us and the way we live. When the earthwas first came to
existence there were no car burning fossil fuels, and there were no factories releasing pollution
into the air. Lao tzu might argue that since we are doing all of these things, we are ruining the
Earth, because the Earth was not made to be harmed in the way we may be harming it. Lao tzu
says that if we treat the world like an object, we will lose it. MAny objects can

Fahrenheit 451 Themes
IT Essay: Fahrenheit 451 Extra Credit In Ray Bradbury s science fiction novel, Fahrenheit 451,
Faber discusses the three elements that are missing from their society, quality information, the
leisure to digest, and the freedom to act on what you have learned. EVen though the three
elements that Faber discussed are missing from there s, they can be identified in TV shows,
Movies, Books, and Music. One for example is the movie, IT . IT is about Seven young children
in Derry, Maine, who faces an ancient, shape shifting evil that emerges from the sewer every 27
years, or a demonic clown, who preys on the town s children. Joining together over the summer,
they learn to overcome their own fears to battle the murderous, demonic clown known as

In the movie, IT, this can been seen when Bill was in the IT House with Richie and Eddie, he
kept on telling them that what they were seeing (their greatest fear) was not real. Before Bill
went into the IT house with Richie and Eddie, they did research about the clown and Bill
discovered that Pennywise, is more likely to kill the kids who are afraid so he will project
images that are not real. He comes up with the solution that whatever Pennywise shapeshifts into,
it is not real so when they go into the IT house, he reminds then that whatever they see is not real.
This is also quality information to the audience because it shows that audience that fears should
not define and you should conquer your fear because if you let it haunt you forever, you will
always be afraid of

Understanding Moral Relativism
Hi Class, Ravi Zacharias discuss all truth is relative. He explains, that if you are uncertain about
something, then measure yourself by stability. Dr. Craig provides the example of the student
who writes a paper on moral relativism and receives an F. Then, he argued it was not fair,
learning a valuable lesson. I believe both videos are helpful for understanding moral relativism. I
believe moral relativism is understood based on how the person lives their life and how it reacts
to others. Moral relativism is not based on any morals, but what the person s belief based on their
feelings and even their culture can affect their lives. For instance, a person might believe murdering
is wrong, but if the cultures determined is right? For example,

Selling A Home Is A Real Estate Agent Essay
Selling a home can be a daunting task for a professional real estate agent. With property
promotion, open houses and a fluctuating market, trial and error usually wins out over book
knowledge and written rules. But, what about the homeowner who decides to sell their home
without the help of a professional. Believe it or not, you may find some of your greatest help in
comp homes. When placing your homeon the market for sale, you will inevitably look in your
neighborhood for other comp homes also for sale. Competitively pricing your home will draw in
potential buyers more quickly than pricing your home out of the range of other comp homes in
the area. This pricing model only works if you can find a comp home in your neighborhood. But,
how will you know if a home is comparable? Homeowners should always look at their rival
competition for help in selling a home. Visiting the open houses of other homes in the area, or
arranging for a walk through with the owners or real estateagent handling the sale, will help you
to gauge the home s condition, in comparison to your home. This tactic is also helpful for
homeowners selling a home without a real estate agent. Seeing how a real estate agent offers the
information about the comp home, viewing the real estate agent s fliers and promotion sheets, as
well as, seeing the changes or key points a real estate agent stresses during a walk through will
help you to better understand how you should be handling those aspects of your sale.

The Statewide Legalization Of Marijuana

bureau and for the agents of the FBI. More than likely, California is closely following suit of
Colorado as well as many other states in the union. Per state, it may be legal, but as for federal

Prior to the illegalization of alcohol in the 1920 s people loved to drink. It was a big part of the life
style this caused many women to start a prohibition movement that would ban the sale,
movement, buying, and distributing of alcohol. This movement covered all ways of getting
new alcohol but it did not make consuming the product illegal. This was a form of grandfathering
the already bought alcohol or else the US would have had to pay each individual for the alcohol
they had to turn in. Following the start of the prohibition in 1920, people started having what
are known as Speakeasy s . A speakeasy was a type of club that had illegal alcohol and live music
and parties all the time. The name speakeasy was more than just a name. It was a rule. The rule
itself separated the words to a command to Speak Easy! about the time and place and what they
were doing at that specific location. It kept most of these illegal events to stay secret but not all
of them. This era in American history is a fad with pop culture. The book/movie The Great
Gatsby and the Broadway Production of Thoroughly Modern Milly all take place in this era and
tell tales of adventurous parties and mixed with running from police to just go and do it again the
next day. The Legalize it movement also had a history like this. Out of a group of ten in Colorado,

Stereotyping And Stereotyping In America
Stereotyping wasn t a big problem when living in Texas. Living in Wisconsin was a whole

just for fun and no harm is intended, people can take it to another measure. Nothing shouldn t be

people were more diverse and never had problem with another race. For myself it was simpler in
those days at Texas. I had lived there for the last 13 years, moving is hard to leave a place that is

  • 2. Effectiveness Of 4 Psychotherapies During The Treatment Of... Crits christoph et al10 designed a trial to determine the effectiveness of 4 psychotherapies in the treatment of cocaine dependent patients. In this multicenter study, 487 patients were randomized into one of the four treatment groups: individual drug counseling (IDC) plus group drug counseling (GDC), CBT plus GDC, SE plus GDC or GDC alone. Intervention included a 6 month active phase of treatment and a 3 month booster phase and follow up of 3 months. All treatment groups recorded significant improvements from baseline mean (SD) 30 days cocaineuse of 10.4 (7.8) days (median, 8.0; range, 1 30; n=487) to 3.4 (6.5) days (median, 0; range, 0 30; n = 387) at 12 months. Among the four groups, IDC plus GDC was superior on the number of cocaine use days and also on the AddictionSeverity Index Drug Use Composite score. The authors noted that despite the low average drug use found in in the IDC treated patients during the 12 month trial, abstinence was not maintained in most patients as only 36%achieved 3 consecutive cocaine free months. Discovering an effective pharmacotherapy for cocaine use disorder remains a top research priority nationally since there are currently no FDA approved medication for the treatment of cocaine dependence. While several classes of medications have shown some efficacy in some phase two clinical trials, none has been proven to show consistency and lasting efficacy. Recent progress in the understanding of the effect of cocaine on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay about Humanism, Cognitivism and Behaviourism In this assignment I shall be exploring three theories of teaching and learning. They are Humanism, Cognitivism and Behaviourism. I shall be explaining the main factors of the three theories and then explaining how they can support effective teaching and learning in general and for myself personally in my teaching role. The first theory I shall explore is Humanism. Humanism stresses [a learner s] interests, individuality and creativity in short the [learner s] freedom to develop naturally and from teacher domination (Lunenburg p.467). When teaching a lesson a teacher is more of a facilitator when planning and delivering a lesson. An effective humanistic approach is not one of teacher control (behaviourism) nor does it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is an active type of learning and more intrinsically motivating but there are risks involved in delivering a lesson or task in this way. A tutor can confuse the class with inaccurate explanations and a lack of knowledge on the tutor s part. The second sequence of learning is less intrinsically motivating but can be better controlled by the tutor. This second sequence of learning is known as deductive learning. This is preferred by the theorist Ausabel. Meaningful learning, according to Ausabel, entails acquiring new knowledge that links existing knowledge and which can be easily retained and applied. (Gould p. 48) Ausabel, in contrast to Bruner, believes that students need a structured set of instructions and when that builds on existing learning it can contribute greatly to student understanding. Ausabel also encourages the use of an advanced organiser . This can be applied at the beginning of the lesson so the learner knows what to expect and the logical order in which they will receive information. As mentioned before this a less risky way of learning but some may see it as mollycoddling . I personally believe a mix of the two contributes to an effective lesson. To have an advanced organiser at the beginning of the lesson, then being given the tasks in the logical order but with the learner discovering the answers for themselves with the tutors help can ... • 4. Lee Campbell Flight 811 Investigation Lee Campbell Flight 811 Investigation Anthony Vallido Aviation Safety 409 Abstract United Airlines Flight 811 left Honolulu bound for Auckland, New Zealand on February 24, 1989. A few minutes in the flight the cargo doors blew out and because of the decompression, nine passengers were immediately sucked out of the plane. The debris from the cargo door damaged the planes Number 3 and 4 engines. Captain David Cronin prepared for an emergency landing. The parents of one of the fatalities, Lee Campbell, investigated the accident because they want to know what caused the cargo door to open in midair. Kevin and Susan Campbell were very persistent and relentless in their fight to prove that the cause of the cargo door opening is a malfunction... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From these documents they found information that was not released to the public. There were reports that there disturbing problems with the forward cargo door going right back to its original design. Instead of a plug door that gets jammed into its frame as the aircraft pressure rises, Boeing opted for an outward opening door which allows for more cargo space but the door is not failsafe like the plug design so Boeing built was they thought was a fool proof locking mechanism. Boeing built in multiple redundancies to make sure the door is properly latched and does not open. They built it to a point where it is extremely improbable for the door to open. The Campbell s discovered that the problem lies with the locking mechanism. To lock the cargo door on the 747, electric motors rotate C shaped latches around pins in the door frame. A handle then moves L shaped arms known as locking sectors over the top of the C shaped latches to prevent them opening. But as early as 1975, problems were found with the locking sectors. Kevin Campbell, an experienced engineer, built a model to show the weakness of the Boeing design. Initially the locking mechanisms were made of aluminum and in 1975 they did not realize that it was not strong enough. The weakness of the aluminum drastically increased the risk of the door accidentally opening. With the aluminum locking sectors, if the C locks tried to backwind open ... • 5. The Boom in Robotic Population Introduction According to the report of International Federation of Robotics in 2008 the world s robot population has reached 8.6 million. That is a little less than the population of New Jersey (Guizzo, Erico). From this data it is clear that lots of people do not realize how much they are surrounded by robots already at the present time. Additionally from year to year number of these robots is growing as technology and science are developing faster than it seems. This essay will discuss drawbacks and benefits of using robots in the future, by evaluating negative and positive impacts of robotics. Research will begin by evaluating the economic factors of using robots. It will then proceed to investigate the social factors and will analyze the judgments of society. Main body Economic factors of using robots From the economic point of view using robots is not advantageous. Firstly in the future some jobs will become extinct. According to Rob Rawson, co founder of Staff.com, after serious crashes caused by a human operated air traffic controller, in 2034 the government will mandate that all air traffic must be controlled by Artificial Intelligence agents. Moreover in 2028 Google is going to produce perfect audio translator, indistinguishable from the best bi linguists. It means that human translators and interpreters will lose their working places. Similarly as self driving cars become main stream, there will be no need for taxi drivers by 2038 (Rawson, Rob). To conclude with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Stereotypes In Cold Blood In Cold Blood, a book written by Truman Capote, details about a murder case in 1959 in Holcomb. The four victims in this book where apart of the Christian church which in their community, which was very ethnically diverse, Christianity was the most popular religion. In the book we see that Christianity was more than just a religion, it was their way of living. The villagers went by Gods words and they would socialize in the church. We also notice that in the book Capote creates the following stereotype: good people are believers of the lord and bad people are followers of Satan or are lost. The way that he creates this is by using the following non believers of the lord characters to represent this stereotype: Perry and Dick. Perry in the story reveals to have homosexual tendencies, which in Christianity homosexuality is a sin, and Dick represents the seven deadly sins. Dick desires money, sex, and power while Perry only desires to be loved and to get an education. In the story it is revealed that Perry at one point was catholic but because of the abuse that he suffered in the catholic orphanage he stopped believing in God and became lost. As a child Perry had vision of a huge golden bird which he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that if Perry would have been raced in a loving home or would have gotten help once he left the orphanage he would have become a successful man because although he is a murder he still desired education. He failed the third grade but he still wanted to learn new vocabulary, read, and write. As for Dick he just straight up does not care about education. Although Dick is not the brightest crayon in the crayon box he is very street smart and charming. What drove Dicks morals was not God but the Devil. English is not her first language, but she is extremely grateful going to college in America and having her childhood dream come true. After all, her green card is still in process and she is unable to get a job or get any kind of funds to help her with her education. She has to pay for all her expenses out of her pocket, which is very difficult, given her current financial situation. Fortunately, Tyler Junior college offers an installment tuition fees, which helps students like Traci to go to college. She depends on the library for the reserve textbookswithout having to buy her own. During the first week of the school, two professors had given her assignments to read a chapter before she came to the next class. That day, she had a couple of hours before she headed out to volunteer work that she signed up for at church, so she decided to go to the library after class and finish the assignments. She went to the front desk at the library, and asked for the two reserved textbooks. The person behind the desk, informed Traci, that students are allowed to check out one book at a time. Fair enough she thought, and she checked out a text book, found an empty table, sat down, and opened up the chapter that she wanted to read. Guess what? Her jaw dropped, because that chapter had 32 pages. It may not be a lot for many students, but knowing that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Thyroid Gland ( Tg ) Introduction Thyroid gland (TG) secretes thyroxin and triiodothyronine (Garber et al., 2012). Its main function is to make hormones and main job is to produce hormones T4 and T3 (Mortimer, 2011). To do this the human TG has to take a form of iodine from the bloodstream into the human TG (Garber et al., 2012). This substance then undergoes a numerous of different chemical reactions which resulted in the production of T3 and T4 (Mortimer, 2011). In order to make T4 and T3, TG needs iodine, a substance found in the food, both T4 and T3 contains four atoms of iodine. T4 is then converted to T3 through the cells and tissues of the human body. More active hormone is T3, because it influences the activity of all the cells and tissues of the human body. Thyroid is controlled by hormones produced by hypothalamus and pituitary. Besides, these secreted hormones in the TG are essential for normal growth, better development and metabolic function. Thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH) stimulates the pituitary to secrete TSH which in turn acts on the TG to cause synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones. Altered thyroid function is common and respectively the release of TRH and TSH enable feedback of the hormones on the pituitary and hypothalamus to inhibit synthesis. For example, a prevalence of hypothyroidism has been reported in the literature that up to ten percentage in the general population is possible expected to occur. It is an essential to have accurate assays of thyroid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Integrity In Sir Thomas More s A Man For All Seasons In A Man for All Seasons, Sir Thomas More, the plot s protagonist, displays a reoccurring theme of integrity. According to Webster s Dictionary, integrity is the adherence to moral and ethical principles; and soundness of moral character. Dedicated to not losing himself by consenting to the King s divorce, Thomas Morecontinually shows the adherence to his moralityrather than the wishes of those around him. Even though this historic drama ultimately ends in the beheading of Sir Thomas More, his integrity shows his devotion towards himself, his piety towards his country, and his self respect that contrasts with the other characters. Rich s selfishness shows his undeveloped morals because he hangs loosely off of friends, like Cromwell, morphing into any character Cromwell would like so that he will not be off of payroll. Richard s morals are distinguished by his way to form into whatever character a position holds, which contrasts with More s morals because More will not be anything except himself. Rich s selfishness in pleasing his own self reflects the morals that he has because he has a desire to have power, popularity, and recognition from society.. • 11. Great Recession And The Great Depression GREAT ECONOMIC TIMES IN AMERICA The Great Recession and the Great Depression are the fallout of the exact same economic problems and are only different in a few respects. Each period is marked by a massive run ups in asset prices followed by a crash in the stock market and sent both debt and equity markets down. These periods are said to be the worse economic downturn in the country s history. During the great depression, as banks failed and threatened to shut down the financial system altogether, President Franklin Roosevelt moved quickly and effectively to address the most dangerous financial crisis of the Great depression. The massive stock market collapse that began in October 1929 erased massive amounts of wealth and because many banks had invested heavily in the markets, and had lent recklessly to speculative investors, the banks found themselves without sufficient capital and in many cases without reserves. He created the New Deal which responded to an unemployment rate that had reached 25 percent, and in some cities as much as 75 percent. He signed the Emergency Banking Act, which allowed inspectors to evaluate troubled banks and decide whether or not they could reopen. The Glass Steagall Act created a barrier between commercial and investment banking and established the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, which guaranteed that citizens would not lose their bank deposits even if a bank failed. • 16. The Effects Of Digital And Traditional On The Classroom Many adults think that because children and young adults have immersed in technology at a young age, they are naturally literate or skilled in using technology. Younger generations have been labeled as digital native or tech savvy individuals. Unfortunately, this labeling is not as true as most believe. Today s students are no more literate with digitaldevices than their parents are. Digital literacy requires a much broader spectrum of skills than traditional reading requires. Skills that must be taught and obtained through practice and repetition. Some teachers have recognized these skills as critical for the new millennium and are now finding ways to incorporate them into classrooms; by providing digital reading materials. However, it is important that we find a balance between traditional and digital reading. Reading is an extremely important part of learningand should be altered cautiously. Using digital and traditional readings in the classroom will be the most effective way to build a wide variety of skills that are essential and will offer a much greater opportunity to gain knowledge. After all, the more knowledge we possess, the more likely we are to tackle any challenge we ever face. Many educators still struggle to understand their evolving role and how technology is shifting in education. Furthermore, when artificially sweetened beverages were compared to water in a short term weight loss program, subjects consuming artificially sweetened beverages actually lost significantly more weight and reported considerably less feelings of hunger (Peters et al., 2014). Thus, the increased satisfaction obtained from consuming a sweet beverage can lead to reduced overall caloric intake. Finally, researchers Pandurangan, Park, and Kim (2014) studied the impact of aspartame on adipogenesis, or the formation of fatty tissue. When adipocytes were treated with aspartame, there was significantly reduced lipid accumulation as well as down regulation of chemical receptors critical for adipogenesis. In addition, break down your goals into mini or small achievable task that you can revisit and once completed will leave you time or motivate you to take another goal. Most importantly, is to set a time frame for each goal to include dates and time. This will help keep track of your achievement or the need to reevaluate any of your goals. He has a majestic way with words and is able to project imagery in ways that many people wish they could. Students might not realize under these beautifully written poems there is a man pouring his heart and soul out into them. Robert Frostsuffered from a very difficult life where deathand depression was around every corner. Once readers realize what kind of life Frost had, it becomes apparent on how dark many of his poems really are. I feel like Frost was alone and the only way for him to let people know his situation was putting it in words. Home Burial is a particularly dark poem about the death of a child which I feel as if it is an homage to his children who have passed away, and his way of giving his grief life. The Road Not Taken talks about the life choices you make and whether they are the correct choice to make, and Mending Wall talks about have social and mental walls that separate people. These poems were all written within a year of each other and hold many dark images which is Frost sharing his pain hoping to reach another and connect with them. First, having a knowledge of Frosts past is imperative. In 1885 when he was 11, his father died of tuberculosis, leaving the family with just eight dollars. Frost s mother died of cancer in 1900. In 1920, he had to commit his younger sister Jeanie to a mental hospital, where she died nine years later (Robert ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. What Is The Difference Between Igbo And Ibo The Ibo village and Maine are very different cultures and celebrate things differently. In the village, Okonowko has 2 titles in his young age. He is a hard working man and he doesn t like festivals because he would rather be farming his land. Some similarities between Okonowko s village of Ibo and Maine are that both harvestfestivals have music. In the village of Ibo they beat on loud drums and in Maine we have a band playing covers of songs during a harvest festival. Also, in Maine we come together during this celebration and talk to each other and the same goes for the village people. In Maine and Ibo there are events that are planned for the festival, giving the people things to do there. In contrast, the harvest festival is different for both communities. During the Village of Ibo s harvest festival they praise there earth goddess because they believe she is the judge of morality and conduct, in Maine we don t do so because there are many different types of religions within Maine. Also, in Ibo they have wrestling matches and in Maine we don t participate in wrestling matches for the harvest festival. Instead, in Maine we walk around to food stands and look at decorated pumpkins. From this evidence I can assume that religion is a priority in the Ibo village, where as socializing is Maine s priority during its harvest festivals. In the Ibo village, their justice court is very similar to Maine s. In both societies a group of people listen to the two different sides of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Just like other myths that we have read, the myths Demeter and The Herdsman and the Weaver contain many similar characters, plot, and possibly setting. Both myths have a similar character and a plot; a king and two people who care deeply for each other but are seperated. In the first myth Demeter, Hades (the king of the underworld) stole Persephone (the daughter of Demeter) away from her mother (Demeter), who was the goddess of grains and fruit. Hades took Persephone to the underworld because he wanted her as his bride and thought she would brighten up his life. Demeter became very depressed and along with her happiness, the world started to die. Similar to the first myth, in The Herdsman and the Weaver there was also a king. The king decided to find his lovely daughter, the greatest weaver in the world, a husband. He discovered a herdsman who he thought would make a fine husband. After the young couple was married, they started to spend all their time together frolicking in the fields.
