Intense Sweetness Surpasses Cocaine Reward Summary
Intense Sweetness Surpasses Cocaine Reward In the experiment done and reported in the article
Intense Sweetness Surpasses Cocaine Rewards, by Magalie Lenoir, young adult ,male, Wistar
rats that weigh 221 to 276 grams were experimented on. Before the experiment, these rats were
housed in groups of two or three and were sustained in a light and temperature controlled
environment. The food provided was a standard rat chow A04 that contains 60% carbohydrates
(mainly corn starch),16% proteins, 12% water, 5% minerals, 3% fat and 4% cellulose. No refined
sugar was added to their food. This study researched whether the rats would rather receive sugar or
cocaine as a reward. To prepare for the experiment, anesthetized rats were prepared with silastic
catheters in the right jugular vein (which is the throat or pertaining to it). Catheters were flushed
daily with sterile antibiotic solution containing heparinized saline and ampicillin.Behavioral testing
began 7 10 days after the surgical procedure. The experiment lasted 15 consecutive days. During
the experiment, the rats were placed into 12 identical operative chambers which was used for all
behavioral training and testing. Each chamber had an automatic retractable lever... Show more

Print Newspapers Are Becoming A Thing Of The Past
INTRODUCTION In today s world, technology is present in every facet of our lives. The media
is no exception. Print newspapers are becoming a thing of the past, with new digital, online
news taking its place. This change in how we get our news comes with both advantages and
drawbacks. While some may prefer printed news, there s no denying the news is slower and has
less ability to change. And while digital articles are quicker to publish and allow for user
comments they can sometimes be less accurate when initially printed. However, as society
adapts to this new technology, it s clear that print newspapers are becoming less and less popular
and are being replaced (Grabowicz,). ANALYSIS Speed One of the most significant changes is
how quickly people are able to access new information. With the internet, people can view new
articles as soon as they are written and posted. This can put some added pressure on journalists
to print articles as quickly as possible, lest their story become old news . It s also making people
expect to see the absolute newest news in their print based news. This is evident in Chris Elliot s
article where he says people expected to see news of the Paris attacks in their newspapers the next
day, even though those papers had already been printed (Elliot, ). The ability to quickly bring
people information is also a huge benefit. With the internet ever present in our lives, people can
access the information they need in seconds. With twitter now a common

Workaholic Deviance Examples
A perfect comedy show that I chose is called Workaholics, it s based off three main characters
named Blake Anderson, Adam DeVine, and Anders Holm. The characters met in college and after
dropping out they decided to move in together and continued to act as if they are still in college,
such as doing pranks, binge drinking and throwing parties at their house. From a functionalist
perspective, their harmonious relationship that share the same norms would be an example of
social cohesion. Additionally, they work in a small cubicle office at a telemarketing place, but with
their disruptive behavior they cause a lot of trouble with their coworkers and boss. The TV show
demonstrates the three adults as immature and irrational which is a good example... Show more

In particular, for the second example I used before has a clear demonstration of a modern response
to deviance. By the time the group had a violent conflict with each other because of substance abuse
the boss decided to interfere and punish them by sending them into a rehabilitation program. In the
hope that sending them into the program, it will eventually change their old addictive behavior that
is considered deviant to a more normative behavior after completing the

Twin Towers Collapse

In examining the way the twin towers collapsed, the way the towers fell was not consistant with
the collision damage as it demonstrated a scheduled and controlled demonlition type of collapse
as explained by the Leak Video interview titled: Architects Engineers for 9/11 Truth. Richard Gage,
the interviewed architect for the video, and respected AIAI san franscico bay area architect, helps
illustrate the clear notion that the twin tower collapse was not from the direct damage of the planes
primarly because of the way the building fell, and the damage shown during and after the fall.
To examine further, the Architect firstly states the clear disbelief him and over two thousand
architects share from the completely unaware knowing how the towers fell, so much so that they

Different Climatic Conditions For Marine Desert Areas
7 Recommendations
7.1 Climatic Condition
Warm dry areas characterized by high temperatures ranging from 40 50 degrees Celsius, with sharp
variations in day and night alike and seasonal (summer winter) temperatures and precipitation
(rainfall, snow) which is scarce, unreliable and irregular, but may nevertheless cause severe floods.
Winter prevails in which dust, sand storms and cold winds. The intensity of solar radiation is very
high and enhances the radiation emitted from the ground. This climate below air humidity in general
and is healthier than warm moist ground. Different climatic zone scans are distinguished from the
desert areas according to their own geographical characteristics.

Just as there is a need for cooling, there is also a need for negative heating during cold nights in the
winter. The construction of the house requires prevention of various climatic conditions such a
heavy radiation coming from the sun as well as the prevention of other conditions such as
sandstorms, dust and insects. In addition, the spread of dust should be prevented and provide
proper ventilation, shad and control of buildings and settlements.
Proposed solutions
The Main Points:
Provide a maximum of shielding against direct sunlight in the hot season.
It works to balance the contrast between winter and summer by moving parts.
Bring ventilation through the regularairmovementand small aperture.

Balance the contrast between the degree of heat of the day and night through the thermal storage
process.
Decrease inner heat creation process and work to increase the conductivity in the warm seasons.
Enhance the evaporation and heat beating by the radiation process.
Working to increase air circulation in high humidity marine areas.

Is War Being Morally Justifiable
All across the world, countries are drowning in the acts of warfare. Citizens residing in
unescapable conditions due to war are suffering and likely calling out to other nations for help. It
is proven that fighting violence with more violence does not draw a solution. The question of war
being morally justifiable is one most easily answered by ancient and modern philosophers: it is not.
For warinduces a great deal of all those involved, promotes unnecessary violence, and overall it
prevents the expansion of the human race. Every waking moment a catastrophic war is taking
place somewhere in this world. Every waking moment a life is lost due to the wounding actions of
opposing countries and opposing people. A majority of attacks imposed consist

Effects Of Rms On The Weekly Calls
As RMS continues to indicate, based on our observations and more importantly on the review of
assets during our weekly calls with Altisource, RMS continues to believe on many of these assets,
the condition or location of the property is the primary driver behind not only the large reduction in
list price, but ultimately a sales price well below the initial list price, all of which contribute to
extended days on market and an increase in carrying costs incurred by the Trust. We believe one of
the contributors to this relates to the Altisource process where the listing agent is not local to the
property and typically has not personally visited the assetto assess the condition, the location, drive
by the comps and generally may not be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because Altisource cannot be directed to set the list price of an asset, RMS attempts to get
Altisource to recognize assets that are listed too high and to make appropriate adjustments that will
generate activity and offers.
RMS continues to review assets where we believe the list price set by Altisource is high relative
to our opinion of market value. On listed assets with DOM of more than 60 days, RMS and
Altisource discuss the list price and agent feedback to understand why purchase offers have not
been received. RMS targets these assets for review every 2 weeks.
Another recent observation is an increase in the number of assets in pending contract that fall
out because the buyer fails to return the purchase agreement. This trend has continued to
increase over the past several months. Although Altisource does not provide statistics regarding
overall fallout, RMS has seen an increase based on our observations and the weekly calls. We
believe this relates to the process by which Altisource sells REO assets (on the HUBZU
website), where there is no economic penalty to the bidder if they place an offer on a property
but fail to deliver an executed purchase agreement (similar to what would happen in a traditional
sale transaction). In addition, we believe the lack of agent to agent contact and knowledge of
whether a buyer visits the property prior to making an offer also play a role in the increased
fallout. Altisource reports

Reuniting With My Father For The Last Ten Years

ENGL 1301
October 10, 2014
Reuniting with my father.
I had not seen my father for the last ten years and I wanted to see him. I also wanted to be in the
United States of America which had been my dream since I was a little child. My dad left for
United States to seek asylum. He escaped unhurt during the 1992 post election violence. Inter tribe
skirmishes erupted immediately the result of then heavily contested election was announced. My
father was one of main campaigners of the opposition party. Since he was in the forefront he was
the target in the skirmishes. He ran to the United States to save his life. After staying in the United
States of America for ten years, he was granted US citizenship. He decided that we join him. We
missed him, as he missed us too.
I was excited and couldn t wait until the last week I had to spend in Africa that is when I realized
I was going to leave behind: All my relatives and friends, our home. It was going to be hard for
me to leave the place I called home for eighteen years but what I wanted most is to see my father.
It was very early in the morning when I got up, the sky was clear; it had never looked so
beautiful like this day. The grass and bushes still filled with the morning dew. We got into my
mom s Volkswagen golf and we drove down to my grandparents to say the final word before our
journey was due. It was exactly sixty seven miles away from the garage to grandparents homestead.
I drove through the rift

Similarities Between Anne Bradstreet And Phillis Wheatley
Floriberto Solorzano
Ms. Shorey
ENG: 2130
3 September 2016Anne Bradstreet Compared work with Phillis Wheatley Anne Bradstreet,
Daughter of the one governor and first published poet in America, was classified as a classic
religious poet and also was also considered a very modern poet who really focused on her everyday
life and all of her daily activates. Phillis Wheatley, enslaved at the age of 6, and became the first
black women poet in America wote mostly classical poetry and had many Christian views. Her
poetry used pyscholical meaning and also used poetic devices. Although both poets were to very
respected poets of there time both are also very different compared to their work. Phillis Wheatley s
poetry was more in depth, thoughtful, and had somewhat more stylish than the work of Anne s
Bradstreet s. Anne s Bradstreet s greatest influence on her writings was religion. As a child she was
brought up as puritan therefore she has puritan beliefs that was showed in her poems. However,
In some of her writings it seems she was struggled with her belief in God. Just like Phillis
Wheatley, Anne Bradstreet used a literal device called inversions and also used many religious
references. In Anne s Bradstreet s poem Here Follow Some Verses upon the Burning of out
House, July 10TH, 1666 Anne Says It was His Own, it was not mine, Far be it that I should

The unintended consequences that change the world forever are easily observed in hindsight. For
WW II to come together the winners in WW I had to become even more oppressive against the
Germans causing pain and depression.
A simple rule is that energy has to be used, it just does not disappear into the ether.
Think of it as the ultimate re cycle plan in the world. In a way evil and bad emotions have a price
that is extracted once it has gone through the universe re cycling system.
The emotional energy from this oppression paved the way for Hitler. When the US bombed the
boarder between Cambodia and Vietnam, it cut off ruthless and well trained Vietcong guerrillas
from getting back to Vietnam. Theses fighters ended up in the dense jungles of northern Cambodia
where they came across the Khmer Rouge, a communist group who was in need of training. The
Vietcong helped the Khmer Rouge, knowledge is power and the Khmer Rouge quickly displayed
this power by committing genocide in Phenom Penn. and allowed pure insanity to unfold as they
systematically killed millions of their own people.

Analysis Of Hide And Seek
Hide and Seek was written by Jakayla Towey. It is a horror story surrounding the ever changing
life of Emily. I would recommend this read to those who are interested in psychological horror. Its
development around the game Hide and Seek and the state of being completely insane is very
intriguing and will leave most thinking. The story won wattpad s Watty Award in 2016 for best
horror. The story never heads in an expected direction and always keeps you on your toes
anticipating the next event.
The story begins with a lighthearted game of hide and seek between emily, our main character,
Caleb, Emily s little brother, and Abby, her best friend. Hide and seek is emily s favorite game
and plays an important role in the story hence, Hide and Seek . After their game has ended and
abby has headed home, Emily wakes up in the night to see sirens outside of her home and police
shouting come out of the house . Frightened she hides under her bed hoping that caleb and her
family have done the same. Later, in a police car, emile sees the police take two men and two
body bags out of the house. Emily, while expecting her parents to walk out, soon realizes why her
parents aren t walking out of the house, her parents had been murdered, and she had been sleeping
through the entire ordeal. The two would now have to leave everything and live with the Harmons,

The Bride Ship Was Important For The Future Of The Colonies
In the spring of 1620, a ship carrying anxious women traveling to a new land in hopes of starting a
new life with their new husbands. These women took the plunge into exaggerated promises and
wishful thinking. Promises of land, money, and status was promised to these women. However this
fortunate life was not all like it seemed. The bride ship was important for the future of the colony
due to the fact that it allowed the colonies to reproduce and flourish, stopped interracial marriage,
and lead to a feminist movement as we know it today.
Colonial mail order brides were considered hero s to the colonies. The first attempt to bring over
brides was in the early 1600 s by the British and French colonies. These countries strongly
encouraged immigration to the America s. However this was not enough to help the population
increase. Not many families immigrated to the south, also New France was not lucky in drawing in
potential citizens. New England did not experience this disappointment and there population
continues somewhat to flourish. Due to an unsteady growing of the population and reproduction
not increasing the government advertised a bride ship in European towns.
The movement of these women from European countries to the American colonies was important
for the reproduction of the nation. There was a scarce reproduction of children and promises of
continuing the population. However the reason this movement was so important was because the
men in the colonies were getting

Tarzan Of The Apes Analysis
Tarzan of the Apes (1912), by Edgar Rice Burroughs is the original story that inspired numerous
remakes, across all medias that have since been released, granting the name Tarzan fame status
universally. Having been remade and rebranded on numerous occasions, the story of Tarzan that the
majority recognizes varies greatly from that of the original. Due to this fact, in addition to its unique
elements and characteristics, Tarzans genre is ambiguous, varying when analyzed from different
viewpoints, when taking into account social influences at the time of its initial release, etc. The
genre Tarzan is categorized into has a definite affect on how popular it is with different audiences
as it alters the way in which it is perceived. By analyzing the audience and society at the time of
Tarzan of the Apes release, as well as different elements of popular culture, and the elements of
genres it could potentially be placed into, the text can be categorized as a specific genre: adventure.
In the words of Green (1991, p.1 2), adventure is when dangerous things happen to you ... you are
called on for courage, cunningness, ruthlessness, endurance, leadership, and basic survival skills,
and ultimately you must get ready to kill or be killed. Inarguably, the original Tarzan story fits this
description; a young boy, orphaned in what was at the time an unknown land, consequently being
raised by wild animals and having to fight for his own survival everyday. Upon original release in

Write A Term Paper On Pluto
In 1906, Percival Lowell, founded the Lowell Observatory and started an project in search of a
possible ninth planet, or planet x .
Pluto was discovered, by astronomer Clyde W. Tombaugh, on 18 February 1930. This period in
astronomy was of intense planet hunting.
Pluto is smaller than any other planet and smaller than Earth s moon. It s dense and rocky but its
nearest neighbors are the gaseous Jovian planets. It is due to this that it is believed that Pluto
originated elsewhere in space and got caught in the sun s gravity. Pluto s orbit is erratic, all other
planets orbit the sun in a flat plane.
The International Astronomical Union made an altering decision in 2006. The International
Astronomical Union stripped Pluto from its planet status and issued a new set of requirements that

Pluto however fail to clear its orbital neighborhood and on that the International Astronomical
Union labelled that Pluto is not a planet.
Pluto s moon Charon, is about half of Pluto s size. Pluto as well as its moon, Charon, orbit a
common center of gravity. Pluto however orbits this center of gravity at a much closer distance
than Charon, and is this the reason that Charon is considered to be Pluto s moon. Pluto is further
also on the borderline of a region in our solar system, the Kuiper Belt, where many ice bodies orbit
the sun at a very large distance.
Pluto has thus not cleared its orbital neighborhood and was defined as a dwarf planet. Dwarf
planets orbit the sun, are nearly round, have note cleared its orbital neighborhood and does not orbit
any other body.
There is so many evidence that indicates that Pluto does not adhere to the requirements to be seen
as a planet that I also think that Pluto should not be seen as a planet but rather either as a binary
system together with its moon, Charon, or a dwarf planet, as it is currently classified

The Leading Cause Of Rumors In The Crucible By Arthur Miller
The Truth About Rumors
Rumors are among the many dilemmas afflicting the human condition. They eat away at society
like a parasite, undermining morality and infecting good intentions with malice and decay. Despite
the fact that rumors are not always accurate, they still spread like wildfires. Rumors are the leading
cause of negativity in society. In Arthur Miller s work, The Crucible, rumors spur mass hysteria in
the colonial town of Salem by changing people s views of a situation, undermining the self
confidence of victims, and inspiring fear among friends and neighbors.
Likewise, a person s perception and viewpoint drastically changes from rumors whether the
rumors are true or not. People often tend to believe everything they hear, which causes society to
conclude that the rumor is true without knowing all the facts. In the Crucible, a character named
Parris illustrates this by saying, She may be. And yet it has troubled me that you are now seven
month out of their house, and in all this time no other family has ever called for your service
(Miller 1 26). In addition to their assumptions, the gossip itself leads to the false accusations of
Abigail. No matter how much gossip gets into the people of Salem s head they would never choose
to talk to the person, just about them (Decter). Jumping to conclusions causes people to judge
others unfairly and without merit causing physical and emotional damage to anyone affected by the
untruth of the rumor. This is an identical

Diesel Engines Vs. Gasoline Engine
Diesel Engines vs. Gasoline Engines
The issue whether the diesel engine is better than the gasoline engine has been a recent question on
which one is the best to own. This may concern many people who are interested into own one. On
the other hand, A variety of people has discussed why this is important.some discuss that the
gasoline engine is better while others disagree. However, the diesel engines are typically used in
the heavy duty field.
It has been proven that the diesel engine produces more power with fuel efficiency Diesel fuel has
the advantage when it comes to fuel economy, as there is more energy in a gallon of diesel fuel
than a gallon of gasoline. In other words, a diesel engine can make more power with less fuel
than a gasoline engine (Hollis). However, Tom Venetis states that diesel, once the cheaper fuel for
many years, now is the most expensive than gasoline per equivalent liter. In fact, diesel engines are
more commonly used in the work field because of their endurance and fuel ... Show more content

In the other hand, diesel engines are more expensive to keep maintenance because of their sizes of
parts, which require more oil. However, this makes the engine last longer. John Martin states that
The TMC s S.14 Light and Medium Duty Study Group was recently shown comparative
maintenance costs between gasoline engines and turbocharged diesels in service. Although diesel
engine service intervals are longer, most replacement parts and labor costs are significantly higher.
Some diesel filters cost ten times what the equivalent gasoline filter cost. The TMC data showed the

Red Dress 1946 By Alice Munro Individuality And Conformity
In the story Red Dress 1946 by Alice Munro Individuality and Conformity is discussed. Some
examples of this is during the story is there was a carnival atmosphere of brutality in the room at
such times, scaring weak and suspect people like me . The reason this is important to the text
and idea of the essay is because we often feel left out when we are ourselves. In life, we want to
fit in we are made to want this just like the main character in the story she wants a dress like my
friend Lonnie had. Is it implied that she is in a poor finance situation, as many were at that time.
The author Alice Munro portrays situational social pressure when the main character gets home

An example of this is on page nine after the protagonist s dress is make by her mother the quote I
will use to describe this is well nobody ever made me a dress when I was in High School.
Reasons why this is important is because this shows the mother s why this is important is
because we all feel it at some point and for the lead character this is during the days before the
dance. A perfect illustration of family pressure is when the Mother of the friend of Lonnie
exclaims, I doubt if she appreciates it. When we have home pressures some of us do things only
to please the people around us an example of the protagonist doing this is when every morning,
including the day of the dance, I woke up in perfect health. This is ample evidence because the
narrator shows how she wants a reason to not go to the dance. Another image of family pressure
is when the main character is pressured into having the protection of all female rituals. The
reason this is important is because she is trying to hide behind beauty to not show her insecurity
to the point where she looks like a Zulu with her hair curled. Further proof of family pressure is
on page 12 when the mother says will I wish I could take a picture I am really, genuinely proud
of that fit. And you might even say thank you for it. The mother pressures her daughter to say a
false thank you this image is given by Alice Munro to show a teenage sassiness and it gives

Athenian Democracy In Athens
The Athens law that allows every single man of Athens to share and glorifies their superiority
over their peer poleis. In reality, the Democracy in Athens are made of Three Branches. The
Assembly (Ekklesia) states that all male citizens over 18 met ten times a year and can make
executive decisions like declaring war and create laws. The Assembly contradicts Periclesspeech
since it only allow white males (not slaves) to create laws and make executive decisions.
The Council of 500 (Boule) contradicts Pericles by declaring that the executive committee for
the Assembly are served a one year, non renewable term and they administered the treasury and
foreign affairs. This may not be fair since the executive committee members are vetoed or
chosen to stay longer period of times because of their skill or good decision making, but rather
more on males are chosen and they serve one year max not depending on their performance .
Pericles had stated that the Athens democracy allowed the equal justice to all under the Athens
law that allows every single man of Athens to share and glorifies their superiority over their peer
poleis. In addition, The Courts (Dikasteria of Heliaia) allowed between 200 1,000 citizens who
were randomly selected to represent the voice of the people in trials no appeals! Served a one
year, non renewable term. Pericles sees Athens as best conducive to freedom, liberty, courage,
honor, and justice the values most honored by the Athenians. This is contradiction because The
Courts doesn t appoint male citizens because of their good sense and intellect, but rather because
they are male and they couldn t be promoted any further (just a year).
These above evidence proved that Pericles views democracy as the best form of government are
not reliable. He preached that he viewed Athens as superior to their fellow city states. In fact,
Pericles sees Athens as having the ultimate possible for freedom, liberty, courage, honor, and
justice. In a statement oozing with patriotism, Pericles proclaims: We cultivate refinement without
extravagance and knowledge without effeminacy; wealth we employ more for use than for show,
and place the real disgrace of poverty not in owning to the fact but in declining

WW1 Battle Analysis
The Germans lost 6 men killed out of the 85 who set out on the attack with 15 wounded. The
Belgium defenders lost 23 men killed and 59 wounded (Trueman, 2015). The fall of what was to
have been an unbeatable fortress caused a disaster for Belgium for the second time in a generation
(Martin, 2001). While Laughridge argues that these tactics, training, and weaponry combined with
the element of complete surprise, and were the primary reasons for the phenomenal successes that
day (2006), it should also be noted that there were key intelligence failures on the Belgian side that
allowed this to happen.
Alternate Outcome Trueman asserts, The element of surprise was key, as was the use of a method

Had the machine gunners been able to shoot down even one or two gliders, the weakened force
may not have been able to disable the guns quickly enough to save the bridges from destruction.
Similarly, referring to the emplacement of countermeasures to prevent glider landings, McNab
argues, had [the Belgian high command] been more energetically committed to maintaining the
vigor of its defences, it might have prevented the fall of Eben Emael with nothing more than a
few pieces of steel or wood (2013, p. 72). In both cases, overcoming intelligence deficiencies could
have had a dramatic impact on the battle, which would have had far reaching implications for the
long term success or failure for Germany in the opening stages of World War II. If Fort Eben
Emael had been able to hold on long enough to destroy the bridges and for allied reinforcements
to arrive, it is possible that Germany s westward advance could have been halted by Fort Eben
Emael and the Maginot Line and the Second World War might have been prevented, or at least
contained.
Conclusion
The Battle of Fort Eben Emael saw the world s first glider borne assault as well as the first combat
use of hollow charge explosives. Implementing these new technologies with meticulous planning
and methodical training, a much smaller German force was able to defeat the strongest

Oil Drilling Endangers Arctic National Wildlife Riches Can you imagine the grocery stores and

rely on caribou to supply their food and clothes. As the oil industry develops in a close proximity
to the Gwich in village, caribou do not go near the area anymore. The villagers can hardly find any

to prevent further damage to habitats and extinction of species, we should stop developing oil drill

Relationships In Disney s Snow White And The Seven...
Relationships changing in Disney In this essay I am going to compare and contrast the
evolution of relationship expectations portrayed in Disney s Snow White and the Seven
Dwarves, and Frozen, and how closely they mesh with relationship expectations of their time.
The movies Snow White and Frozen seemed like good examples because they have a lot of
similarities as well as differences. In both Disney movies the princess meets a man, but the
expectations and interactions between princess and man are vastly different. They both also have
other people in their lives. Snow has the dwarves and Ana has her sister. Their treatment of them
are also vastly different. The men they fall for while similar in some ways, seem to have different
requirements, and different roles for the princess. In Snow White the Snow and the prince meet,
share one song, a kiss and are married. Terri Wright, who wrote an article on Disney s choice of
adapting Snow White talks about how, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs reflects popular culture
of the time through its development of the romantic element (3). When Snow White came out love
was wanted in a relationships but it was not the only factor. Woman did not work outside the home
and didn t move out of their parents house unless they got married. This is portrayed in the movie
with Snow White staying at home to cook and clean up after the dwarves until the prince comes to
take her away.

Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet is arguably the most well known and well read play in history.

The reactions of the Friar to Juliet s death in the Lamentable Tragedie, however, show a difference
of theology toward death that we, in contemporary society cannot fully grasp.

Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Minister s Black Veil
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Minister s Black Veil mystery plays a huge role when it comes to
plot, and character development. At the end of this story the minister who is wearing the veil
rhetorically asks, What but the mystery which it obscurely typifies has made this piece of crape
so awful? (Hawthorne 1044). Hawthorne has built up this character so carefully and intensely to
this point, to quite directly state that this veil on his face represents mystery. The minister also
begs the question of, what else does it represent? Asking his congregation, who also persecuted
him, to look deep in themselves and figure out the real reason for his apparel. The minister
blatantly reveals that his veil typifies mystery in a sense where his congregation cannot keep
themselves together, unless they know the absolute truth. Hawthorne uses this veil as a direct
representation of mystery and self control, but he also uses it as a symbol of a divine controller,
tying in spirituality and religion. Towards the beginning of the story the minister reveals himself
looking different, as he wore an obvious black veil over his face. His audience hated the idea of
his new look as they muttered amongst themselves, I don t like it, and Our parson has gone mad!
(Hawthorne 1038). These two particular quotes obviously reveal the initial distaste for the veil, but
it also shows that the congregation could not even control themselves, as they wondered why he
wore this disgusting cover. The

New York Times Case
The Supreme Court in New York Times Co. v. United States was a very controversial case and

was a completely unjust move by President Nixon. Ultimately, the court ended up ruling in the

Not A Student Loan For College Essay
Abstract
The decision to attend college for most individuals yield promise of advancement in being able to
further one s learning, and assists with developing a marketable educational portfolio from an
institution of reputed academia. However, with the pursuit of obtaining a college degree from a
university, there are augmented concerns with student loans and repayment issues. In electing to
secure a student loan for college, prospective students or parents should realistically, forecast or
measure probable (anticipated) student debt. In particularly, with students aspiring to attend college,
several organizations or subsidiaries, and for profit institutions cash in on unknowledgeable
hopefuls contributing to the student loan debt dilemma/crisis (or student debt). The college costs
and financial constraints for student borrowing, if ill prepared will substantially effect students in
pre graduate or even post grad status. The findings suggest that there is eminence of the possibility
of default, with repayment behavior which effects long term financial outlook. In examining the
data on cumulative debt, number and characteristics of borrowers, types of institutions, and
repayment dynamics there are unsettles that arise in the gest of student borrowing. Keywords:

This increased evidence that smoking is associated with poor wound healing could be viewed as bias
though, as most of the studies have looked at surgical wounds and few have been concerning
chronic wounds (Sorenson, 2003). Nutrition Mani (2003) claims that nutrition is a fundamental role
that must be adopted in the treatment and healing process of pressure ulcers. A balanced diet with
adequate nutrients should be key for all patients deemed to be at risk of pressure ulcers. Both
nutrition and hydration are the basic components in promoting wound healing and maintaining
normal tissue integrity. Patients at risk of pressure ulcers should be nutritionally assessed at regular
intervals (Shepard. 2003). This could have been adopted by the use of assessment tools such as, The
Nutritional Screening initiative. This tool includes nutritional screening at regular intervals and a
comprehensive assessment that includes nutritional assessment, functional assessment and
evaluation for depression. This comprehensive approach allows the nurse to quantify the nutritional
problems and initiate the appropriate resources that will meet with the individual needs (Bryant,
2000). Another optional tool is the Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool or MUST. This has been

Risks And Challenges Of Indian Construction Industry
RISKS AND CHALLENGES IN INDIAN CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
Risk in Construction needless to mention, with huge money, comes the company of big risks. In the
area of Indian construction, the risks are abundant, due to the involvement of legal, political,
financial and cultural complexities. As far as construction in India is concerned, there is lack of
experience, but the opportunities for growth for companies willing to enter the arena are immense.
The domestic construction industry is growing at a rapid pace, due to high demand for housing and
increase in expenditure on infrastructure. All of the most challenging projects across country
involve a variety of complex processes working simultaneously. Every critical activity is associated
with a risk and can negatively affect the project objectives, such as time and schedule, cost and
quality of work. The number of risks arising from a task is directly proportional to the number of
people working on it. Mismanagement is one of the various sources of risk. These days, most of
the big projects are sublet to sub contractors, and therefore risk assessment and mitigation has
become more and more challenging. (McKinsey Company, 2009) (Sharmila Pimplikar, n.d.)
As a developing country, India has not focused on risk management. Construction projects in India
face various types of risks such as business risks, financial risks, technology risk, project risk and
political risk. Most common challenges encountered by the construction

How Has Christianity Impacted My Life
Ultimately, it was through the work of the early Church, Christianity had been able to have its
magnitude. It makes one wonder, what did they bring up that brought multitudes to Christ? Well, it
was a very simple tool that it is in the hand of every believer today the testimony. Their testimony
and our testimony centers around the Resurrection and the transformative power of Christ. Yet,
what makes each testimony unique is God s unique plan for everyone s life. Our lives and how
God intervened in them provides an avenue for us to relate to the struggles of others showing them
that God can change their life too. All my blessings and struggles have been beautifully woven into

Summary Of Kierkegaard s Fear And Trembling
In Kierkegaard s Fear and Trembling , we are presented with the views of Soren Kierkegaard,
Friedrich Hegel and Kierkegaard s pseudonym, Johannes de Silentio , in regard to the story, The
Binding of Isaac and how Abraham s religious beliefs made him sacrifice his son, which went
against the rules of the ethical at that moment in time. We must ask ourselves, is it ever justifiable
to commit an act that goes against a universal set of ethical rules in order to pursue an individual
relationship with God a relationship that takes priority over the ethical?
In this essay, I will be attempting to answer the question of Problema 1 in Fear and Trembling
which is concerned with the paradox of following the ethical, yet still being able to believe in the
teleological suspension of the ethical.
According to Kierkegaard, The Ethical is described as the second out of the three stages of life;
it s ultimately seen as the expression of the universal, where all actions are supposed to be carried
out for the common good. The Universal is described as the realisation of the ethical and how we,
as a society, should strive to abide by the moral principles enforced; Hegel claims that individuals
should strive to become a part of the universal as much as possible. Whilst being in the stage of the
ethical, the individual must be concerned with the betterment of other and not oneself. Both the
ethical and the universal work in conjunction with one another. Kierkegaard (1843, p.38)

The Benefits of Wood Fencing
A main benefit of wood fencing is how easy it is to repair the material when it becomes

Compare And Contrast Softball And Baseball
Softball vs. Baseball
Baseball was, is and always will be to me the best game in the world (Ruth, n.d). While many
people agree with Babe Ruth on that opinion, softball is also quickly becoming an American
favorite. Not only has softball been added to the Olympic games, but college softball has also
become popular. According to Anderson and Lopez (2017), Women s College World Series
coverage on ESPN was up 21% in live audience views in 2017. While similar in many aspects, the
differences between softball and baseball include rule changes, equipment size, and field size.
The Rules
While the most basic rules are the same in both softball and baseball, there are still a few
differences in how the two games are played. In softball, there are only seven innings, while in
baseball there is typically nine innings. However, in both sports, the games can be extended in
case of a tie, where extra innings will be played until one team scores more runs than the other
team. Another difference in gameplay between softball and baseball is stealing bases. Although
both games allow stealing, in softball the base runner must stay on the base until the pitched ball
crosses home plate, while in baseball, the base runner can lead off the base and can be thrown out
at any time. The most significant difference between softball and baseball though is that in ... Show

Title: Presence of L2 accent in L3 Acquisition
1. Introduction:
Second language acquisition (L2) has been often regarded as an important stage for language
learning after acquired the first language. However, it is evident that Third Language Acquisition
(L3) has become increasingly important and it is a new and hot topic for many scholars due to
the multilingual culture in nowadays society. Over the past few decades, many scholars have
investigated that L3 acquisition is more specific as L3 learners have already had an L2 in mind
which they acquired certain linguistic knowledge. Gut (2009) mentioned that the learners could
apply the previous language learning experience onto the learning process of a new language.

Humanities’ Irrational and its Effects on a Utopian Society
The human psyche is divided into rational and irrational drives. Courtesy of Sigmund Freud, it is
divided into the id, ego, and super ego. According to Freud, although the super ego controls the
other two to present ourselves in a rational state within society, the id often tends to be out of
complete control by the conscious, making it an unconscious action. For Freud, it s the recognition
that the irrational is there, that it must be controlled to take over. Man s aggressive nature does tend
to overpower the mind, leading to irrational actions. Both Freud s Civilizationand its Discontents
and Dostoyevsky s Notes from Underground show how humans are controlled by their irrational
drives and that, as a result, the attempts to create a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Reavers represent Freud s mentioned id, or irrational and aggressive drives. Due to groups such
as the Reavers and the Alliance, civilization trying to improve and create a perfect society will fail
due to human s inevitable ways of acting through their irrational psyche. A utopian society isn t
possible because of this and Freud suggests accepting such a reality with imperfections in its
inhabitants. Underestimated are the powerful forces or irrationalism... [which] would erupt with
devastating fury in twentieth century political life...extolling violence (Perry 701 2).Those
civilizations that attempt to create a utopian society create the illusion of civilization, the illusion
that humans are, in fact, civilized.
Enter Dostoyevsky, an anti government, anti socialist thinker and writer who offers a strong theory
on man s irrational and failures to create a Crystal Palace society. Being exposed to violence, death,
and government suppression through his life, Dostoyevsky was able to write a notable anti utopian
novel. Moving to the discussion of the rational versus irrational thoughts supported by Freud, rather
than viewing humanity as being innately good, Dostoyevsky viewed humans as being innately
depraved, irrational, and rebellious (Perry 682). Like Freud, Dostoyevsky opposed Enlightenment
philosophies of rationality, and believed irrationality was a dominant

Malala Yousafzai Is Not An Average Teenager
Essay on I Am Malala (#2) As part of the Noble Committee, it has come to my understanding that
it is time to award the winner(s) of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize. There have been a select few
who have earned the prize from human rights activist, Martin Luther King Jr., to the faithful and
compassionate Mother Teresa. In order to be awarded with this prize, our committee believes
that the candidate has made the world a better place while exhibiting the traits of wisdom,
experience, and ambition. This year, I would like to nominate Malala Yousafzai. Now, I
understand that my choice may be skeptical. After all, what has this seventeen year old done to
deserve such a prize? Most of the time, teenagers are found hanging out with friends, working part
time jobs, or tweeting about the latest celebrity drama. These teenagers are not concerned about
changing the world for the better. However, I argue that Malala Yousafzai is not an average
teenager. Malala Yousafzai is a young Pakistani woman, who I believe should earn the 2014 Nobel
Peace Prize. She fits the requirements of bringing peace and equality to the world, and
demonstrates courage by fighting for girls education. In addition, Malala faced two challenging
obstacles in her life. First of all, Malala understood that the Taliban s laws were biased, especially
the rules directed towards women. The Taliban is an Islamic terrorist organization that imposes a
strict interpretation of the Quran, the Muslim s holy book.

Gender Inequality And Decision Making
Inequality is experienced in various ways. Along with race and class inequalities, we have
gender inequalities. What creates and maintains significant gender inequality when it comes to
decision making? We could look back to1918; when Irish decision makers were made up solely
of men. From 1919 to today we see a similar trend of gender inequality. It seems that when it
comes to power and decision making, women take the back seat. We can argue that men and
woman are naturally good at different things resulting to society creating this gender gap. Power
and decision making belongs to men, although ministerial positions do not require physical
strength or abilities that a woman would not have by nature, however woman are absent in
taking part. Looking into where Ireland stands compared to the rest of the world, we can get an
idea of what contributes in maintaining gender inequality when it comes to positions of power
in political decision making. Social conflict can be seen all over the world we live in: in sports,
politics and normal social engagements. The main point I have experienced with this theory
would be the fact that I don t come from a rich, powerful, and prestigious family, which in turn
limits my chances of being successful. Karl Marx studied social conflict His entire life and wanted
to reduce social inequality. The social conflict theory can be described as favoritism. Society tends
to show favoritism to the prestigious members of that particular society. Social

Kids these days have a bad rap. Adults who don t regularly interact with high school students may
only see the negative side of the adolescents in their community. In fact, sixty one percent of
American adults are convinced that today s youth face a crisis in their values and morals, look at
teenagers with misgiving and view them as undisciplined, disrespectful, and unfriendly (Latham,
2003). One way to help change the attitudes of adults and also encourage youth personal

(Middleton Kelly, 1996). One of the biggest issues stems from a lack of facilitation on the larger
social issues involved with community service. When there is a proper forum to discuss the
experiences they receive while volunteering, students are given a chance to understand how policies
and civic involvement play a direct role in the lives of people in their communities. (Lakin
Mahoney, 2006).
Another issue is content involved in the community service activities. If teenagers are thrust into a
volunteer situation they don t understand or feel that they are simply being assigned made up work,
it can actually have a detrimental effect (Tugend, 2010). One way to make the most of volunteer
opportunities is to specifically design the content around areas of student development. By focusing
on key content areas, students learn how to use their current skill set to navigate new experiences
and difficult situations. (Lakin Mahoney, 2006). A well organized and thoughtful volunteer
opportunity has proven time and time again to be a positive experience for youth. There are many
studies that discuss the character building benefits of service learning. Students who participate
have higher academic achievements, develop critical thinking, problem solving, decision making,
planning and organizing skills and expand their social circles. A student who volunteers is more
likely to volunteer and vote as adult. (Latham, 2003).

Bernice Bobs Her Hair Essay
amp;#8220;Bernice Bobs Her Hair ;
Have you ever at one time or another felt like an outsider? Many people do, trying desperately to

yearn to be accepted by their peers and feel as though they are a part of some sort of

express this turmoil with the short story amp;#8220;Bernice Bob amp;#8217;s Her Hair ;. He

It seemed Bernice had amp;#8220;stolen private property ; which allegedly belonged to Marjorie
(1). Sometime being popular will make one more territorial and suspicious of others which might
hurt them in the long run.
Without Marjorie amp;#8217;s guidance, however, Bernice would have stayed the naГЇve and shy,
thus keeping her from being accepted by the popular crowd. It was evident in the very beginning
of the story that she was uncomfortable in social situations. When Warren asked her if she would
like to dance at the party, she immediately told him that is was too crowded to dance and when
asked to go out to the veranda, she muttered that it was too hot and proceeded to stand there. It
seems that Bernice, being a poor conversationalist, feels too uncomfortable being with others. In a
group Bernice is more likely to be stay inconspicuous and just listen rather that beginning or
entering a conversation.
Another example of her shy persona was when Warren and Bernice sat down on the veranda. It
was apparent she was very nervous about the situation; her knees were pressed together so tightly
one could have cracked a nut between them. Bernice is also very naГЇve and Marjorie took full
advantage of that. Her innocence led her to believe that Marjorie could make all her dreams come
true, question nothing, and following all orders from her. This is apparent at the dinner table when
she announced that she was going to bob her hair in the near

Descriptive Essay On A Car
The car ride wasn t that long, but it felt like forever. Once we got out of my familiar range of
York my mind drifted off the anticipation but it still stayed close behind. The music coming from
the car was blurred from my lack of attention to it. The sound of my dad s voice on another
business call coming from the front was also put to the side as all my attention was tentatively
directed to my phone. Scrolling through feeds and games the log eternity of the car ride drew
more intense. Though it was only an hour or two, boredom set in unusually fast. My mom sat
quietly in the passenger seat doing the same as I, mindlessly passing the time, ignoring the
anticipation. The distinguished right turn that my dad knew not to miss changed to cars gravity to
the left shifting everything with it. As we made our way closer to our destination the scenery
started to look more like Nebraska than the Mason Dixon Line.
The left turn onto the loud gravel driveway rumbled the car again as we pulled closer to the two
house like buildings. The feelings grew stronger, though I knew that it would be a while until the
moment came. My mom was definitely the most excited out of the three of us. She loved puppies.
As we stepped out of the car a pickup truck pulled in behind us. We were both parked by a small
building which I could see through the window was the info and paying register.

Such colonies had passed legislation that inhibited the African slaves from practicing entitlements
such as freedom of association and movement.
The middle colonies like New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania also had laws that
encouraged the slave trade and robbed the African slaves of their fundamental rights. Such laws
were structuredspecifically for the African slaves. For instance, in New York, a slave discovered
40 miles North of Albany was considered to be fleeing to Canada and could be killedif two
witnesses could testify against them. Additionally, in the same city, slaves were not permitted to
walk the streets after dark without having a lighted Lantern. The population of slaves in New York

wealthy families in the area. Slavery within the other regions was not widespread because
landowners practiced small scale agriculture; hence, they did not require the slaves plus some
settlers in the rural areas of the middle colonies were against the moral oppression of the slaves. In
contrast, none of the above conditions prevailed in the Southern colonies.
In 1733, Georgia became a slavery free English colony; however, the injunction of slavery

The Ethics Of The Texas Government
After examining the power one lobbyist can have in the Texas government, it is appropriate to
look at the enormity of what a corporation who specializes in lobbying efforts is capable of. The
company being examined is called Cassidy and Associates. Cassidy came into the forefront of Texas
politics, when in 2006 Carol Strayhorn, the comptroller announced the state of Texaswould be
suspending payments to a Washington lobbyingfirm hired by Rick Perry, called Cassidy and
Associates (Zeller 2006). The reason this is a seemingly bold move by the comptroller is because
of how powerful this company is. In 1999, Cassidy and Associates billed their clients 19.8 million
dollars, making them the biggest grossing lobbying firm in the nation ... Show more content on

Another example of this is in New York City, where a hospital for special surgery, paid Cassidy
140,000 dollars and obtained a 1 million dollar grant from HRSA (Zeller 2006). This is what
lobbyist companies are able to do they receive a sum from their customer and then in return try
and give them a lot of government money. This affected Texas because not every time someone
gives a lobbying group money are they guaranteed to receive anything in return. One of Cassidy
s clients were the president at the University of Dallas, and what probably took place is that they
did not get the federal funding at one of the universities in the state and now the accountant or
comptroller begins to wonder why public universities are giving a lobbying group in
Washington so much money and getting nothing back, so she pulls the plug on allowing them to
receive any more money. Cassidy certainly has not shied away from looking shady with their
business. In the nineties they hired as CEO a man named Marty Pusso and he was vice chairman
of the house ways and means health subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over numerous
healthcare issues and programs (Zeller 2006). Being the Vice Chairman as well as CEO of a
lobbying company that in 1999 received 1.3 million dollars from 10 hospitals (Zeller 2006) seems
to create a conflict of interest problem or in Pusso s case a solution. Furthermore, this questions as

Teddy s sudden and unexpected death. Whilst sitting upon the silo at night Teddy tries to make

  • 5. Print Newspapers Are Becoming A Thing Of The Past INTRODUCTION In today s world, technology is present in every facet of our lives. The media is no exception. Print newspapers are becoming a thing of the past, with new digital, online news taking its place. This change in how we get our news comes with both advantages and drawbacks. While some may prefer printed news, there s no denying the news is slower and has less ability to change. And while digital articles are quicker to publish and allow for user comments they can sometimes be less accurate when initially printed. However, as society adapts to this new technology, it s clear that print newspapers are becoming less and less popular and are being replaced (Grabowicz,). ANALYSIS Speed One of the most significant changes is how quickly people are able to access new information. With the internet, people can view new articles as soon as they are written and posted. This can put some added pressure on journalists to print articles as quickly as possible, lest their story become old news . It s also making people expect to see the absolute newest news in their print based news. This is evident in Chris Elliot s article where he says people expected to see news of the Paris attacks in their newspapers the next day, even though those papers had already been printed (Elliot, ). The ability to quickly bring people information is also a huge benefit. With the internet ever present in our lives, people can access the information they need in seconds. From a functionalist perspective, their harmonious relationship that share the same norms would be an example of social cohesion. Citizens residing in unescapable conditions due to war are suffering and likely calling out to other nations for help. It is proven that fighting violence with more violence does not draw a solution. The question of war being morally justifiable is one most easily answered by ancient and modern philosophers: it is not. For warinduces a great deal of all those involved, promotes unnecessary violence, and overall it prevents the expansion of the human race. • 10. Effects Of Rms On The Weekly Calls As RMS continues to indicate, based on our observations and more importantly on the review of assets during our weekly calls with Altisource, RMS continues to believe on many of these assets, the condition or location of the property is the primary driver behind not only the large reduction in list price, but ultimately a sales price well below the initial list price, all of which contribute to extended days on market and an increase in carrying costs incurred by the Trust. We believe one of the contributors to this relates to the Altisource process where the listing agent is not local to the property and typically has not personally visited the assetto assess the condition, the location, drive by the comps and generally may not be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because Altisource cannot be directed to set the list price of an asset, RMS attempts to get Altisource to recognize assets that are listed too high and to make appropriate adjustments that will generate activity and offers. RMS continues to review assets where we believe the list price set by Altisource is high relative to our opinion of market value. On listed assets with DOM of more than 60 days, RMS and Altisource discuss the list price and agent feedback to understand why purchase offers have not been received. RMS targets these assets for review every 2 weeks. Another recent observation is an increase in the number of assets in pending contract that fall out because the buyer fails to return the purchase agreement. This trend has continued to increase over the past several months. Although Altisource does not provide statistics regarding overall fallout, RMS has seen an increase based on our observations and the weekly calls. We believe this relates to the process by which Altisource sells REO assets (on the HUBZU website), where there is no economic penalty to the bidder if they place an offer on a property but fail to deliver an executed purchase agreement (similar to what would happen in a traditional sale transaction). In addition, we believe the lack of agent to agent contact and knowledge of whether a buyer visits the property prior to making an offer also play a role in the increased fallout. Since he was in the forefront he was the target in the skirmishes. He ran to the United States to save his life. After staying in the United States of America for ten years, he was granted US citizenship. He decided that we join him. We missed him, as he missed us too. I was excited and couldn t wait until the last week I had to spend in Africa that is when I realized I was going to leave behind: All my relatives and friends, our home. It was going to be hard for me to leave the place I called home for eighteen years but what I wanted most is to see my father. It was very early in the morning when I got up, the sky was clear; it had never looked so beautiful like this day. The grass and bushes still filled with the morning dew. We got into my mom s Volkswagen golf and we drove down to my grandparents to say the final word before our journey was due. The Bride Ship Was Important For The Future Of The Colonies In the spring of 1620, a ship carrying anxious women traveling to a new land in hopes of starting a new life with their new husbands. These women took the plunge into exaggerated promises and wishful thinking. Promises of land, money, and status was promised to these women. However this fortunate life was not all like it seemed. The bride ship was important for the future of the colony due to the fact that it allowed the colonies to reproduce and flourish, stopped interracial marriage, and lead to a feminist movement as we know it today. Colonial mail order brides were considered hero s to the colonies. The first attempt to bring over brides was in the early 1600 s by the British and French colonies. These countries strongly encouraged immigration to the America s. However this was not enough to help the population increase. Not many families immigrated to the south, also New France was not lucky in drawing in potential citizens. New England did not experience this disappointment and there population continues somewhat to flourish. Due to an unsteady growing of the population and reproduction not increasing the government advertised a bride ship in European towns. They eat away at society like a parasite, undermining morality and infecting good intentions with malice and decay. Despite the fact that rumors are not always accurate, they still spread like wildfires. Rumors are the leading cause of negativity in society. In Arthur Miller s work, The Crucible, rumors spur mass hysteria in the colonial town of Salem by changing people s views of a situation, undermining the self confidence of victims, and inspiring fear among friends and neighbors. Likewise, a person s perception and viewpoint drastically changes from rumors whether the rumors are true or not. People often tend to believe everything they hear, which causes society to conclude that the rumor is true without knowing all the facts. In the Crucible, a character named Parris illustrates this by saying, She may be. And yet it has troubled me that you are now seven month out of their house, and in all this time no other family has ever called for your service (Miller 1 26). In addition to their assumptions, the gossip itself leads to the false accusations of Abigail. No matter how much gossip gets into the people of Salem s head they would never choose to talk to the person, just about them (Decter). Jumping to conclusions causes people to judge others unfairly and without merit causing physical and emotional damage to anyone affected by the untruth of the rumor. This is an identical ... A perfect illustration of family pressure is when the Mother of the friend of Lonnie exclaims, I doubt if she appreciates it. When we have home pressures some of us do things only to please the people around us an example of the protagonist doing this is when every morning, including the day of the dance, I woke up in perfect health. Another image of family pressure is when the main character is pressured into having the protection of all female rituals. • 24. Athenian Democracy In Athens The Athens law that allows every single man of Athens to share and glorifies their superiority over their peer poleis. In reality, the Democracy in Athens are made of Three Branches. The Assembly (Ekklesia) states that all male citizens over 18 met ten times a year and can make executive decisions like declaring war and create laws. The Assembly contradicts Periclesspeech since it only allow white males (not slaves) to create laws and make executive decisions. The Council of 500 (Boule) contradicts Pericles by declaring that the executive committee for the Assembly are served a one year, non renewable term and they administered the treasury and foreign affairs. This may not be fair since the executive committee members are vetoed or chosen to stay longer period of times because of their skill or good decision making, but rather more on males are chosen and they serve one year max not depending on their performance . Pericles had stated that the Athens democracy allowed the equal justice to all under the Athens law that allows every single man of Athens to share and glorifies their superiority over their peer poleis. In addition, The Courts (Dikasteria of Heliaia) allowed between 200 1,000 citizens who were randomly selected to represent the voice of the people in trials no appeals! Served a one year, non renewable term. Pericles sees Athens as best conducive to freedom, liberty, courage, honor, and justice the values most honored by the Athenians. This is contradiction because The Courts doesn t appoint male citizens because of their good sense and intellect, but rather because they are male and they couldn t be promoted any further (just a year). These above evidence proved that Pericles views democracy as the best form of government are not reliable. He preached that he viewed Athens as superior to their fellow city states. In fact, Pericles sees Athens as having the ultimate possible for freedom, liberty, courage, honor, and justice. Relationships changing in Disney In this essay I am going to compare and contrast the evolution of relationship expectations portrayed in Disney s Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and Frozen, and how closely they mesh with relationship expectations of their time. The movies Snow White and Frozen seemed like good examples because they have a lot of similarities as well as differences. In both Disney movies the princess meets a man, but the expectations and interactions between princess and man are vastly different. They both also have other people in their lives. Snow has the dwarves and Ana has her sister. Their treatment of them are also vastly different. The men they fall for while similar in some ways, seem to have different requirements, and different roles for the princess. In Snow White the Snow and the prince meet, share one song, a kiss and are married. Terri Wright, who wrote an article on Disney s choice of adapting Snow White talks about how, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs reflects popular culture of the time through its development of the romantic element (3). At the end of this story the minister who is wearing the veil rhetorically asks, What but the mystery which it obscurely typifies has made this piece of crape so awful? (Hawthorne 1044). Hawthorne has built up this character so carefully and intensely to this point, to quite directly state that this veil on his face represents mystery. The minister also begs the question of, what else does it represent? Asking his congregation, who also persecuted him, to look deep in themselves and figure out the real reason for his apparel. The minister blatantly reveals that his veil typifies mystery in a sense where his congregation cannot keep themselves together, unless they know the absolute truth. Hawthorne uses this veil as a direct representation of mystery and self control, but he also uses it as a symbol of a divine controller, tying in spirituality and religion. Towards the beginning of the story the minister reveals himself looking different, as he wore an obvious black veil over his face. His audience hated the idea of his new look as they muttered amongst themselves, I don t like it, and Our parson has gone mad! (Hawthorne 1038). It makes one wonder, what did they bring up that brought multitudes to Christ? Well, it was a very simple tool that it is in the hand of every believer today the testimony. Their testimony and our testimony centers around the Resurrection and the transformative power of Christ. Yet, what makes each testimony unique is God s unique plan for everyone s life. Our lives and how God intervened in them provides an avenue for us to relate to the struggles of others showing them that God can change their life too. Summary Of Kierkegaard s Fear And Trembling In Kierkegaard s Fear and Trembling , we are presented with the views of Soren Kierkegaard, Friedrich Hegel and Kierkegaard s pseudonym, Johannes de Silentio , in regard to the story, The Binding of Isaac and how Abraham s religious beliefs made him sacrifice his son, which went against the rules of the ethical at that moment in time. We must ask ourselves, is it ever justifiable to commit an act that goes against a universal set of ethical rules in order to pursue an individual relationship with God a relationship that takes priority over the ethical? In this essay, I will be attempting to answer the question of Problema 1 in Fear and Trembling which is concerned with the paradox of following the ethical, yet still being able to believe in the teleological suspension of the ethical. According to Kierkegaard, The Ethical is described as the second out of the three stages of life; it s ultimately seen as the expression of the universal, where all actions are supposed to be carried out for the common good. The Universal is described as the realisation of the ethical and how we, as a society, should strive to abide by the moral principles enforced; Hegel claims that individuals should strive to become a part of the universal as much as possible. Whilst being in the stage of the ethical, the individual must be concerned with the betterment of other and not oneself. Both the ethical and the universal work in conjunction with one another. What creates and maintains significant gender inequality when it comes to decision making? We could look back to1918; when Irish decision makers were made up solely of men. From 1919 to today we see a similar trend of gender inequality. It seems that when it comes to power and decision making, women take the back seat. Power and decision making belongs to men, although ministerial positions do not require physical strength or abilities that a woman would not have by nature, however woman are absent in taking part. Cassidy came into the forefront of Texas politics, when in 2006 Carol Strayhorn, the comptroller announced the state of Texaswould be suspending payments to a Washington lobbyingfirm hired by Rick Perry, called Cassidy and Associates (Zeller 2006). The reason this is a seemingly bold move by the comptroller is because of how powerful this company is. In 1999, Cassidy and Associates billed their clients 19.8 million dollars, making them the biggest grossing lobbying firm in the nation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another example of this is in New York City, where a hospital for special surgery, paid Cassidy 140,000 dollars and obtained a 1 million dollar grant from HRSA (Zeller 2006). This is what lobbyist companies are able to do they receive a sum from their customer and then in return try and give them a lot of government money. This affected Texas because not every time someone gives a lobbying group money are they guaranteed to receive anything in return. One of Cassidy s clients were the president at the University of Dallas, and what probably took place is that they did not get the federal funding at one of the universities in the state and now the accountant or comptroller begins to wonder why public universities are giving a lobbying group in Washington so much money and getting nothing back, so she pulls the plug on allowing them to receive any more money. Cassidy certainly has not shied away from looking shady with their business. In the nineties they hired as CEO a man named Marty Pusso and he was vice chairman of the house ways and means health subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over numerous healthcare issues and programs (Zeller 2006). Being the Vice Chairman as well as CEO of a lobbying company that in 1999 received 1.3 million dollars from 10 hospitals (Zeller 2006) seems to create a conflict of interest problem or in Pusso s case a solution. Furthermore, this questions as to how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
