2. The Importance Of Taking A Stand In History
The topic we chose for our National History Day project was animal liberation. This
not only has a special place in our interests and beliefs but in many other peoples all
around the globe. One by one, people are starting to understand that animals are
important creatures too and not just here on this Earth for our own selfish use.
Finally, we as people, are trying to do something about it by taking a stand. So,
there are definitely many valuable reasons why this movement is important to us
and several other individuals. We got the ideas for this topic from the clear fact
that animals in today s world are just not treated correctly. Every single day,
countless creatures are abused, neglected, and we decided we wanted to speak up
for them. According to the ASPCA organization, 2.7 million animals come into an
animal shelter abused and frightened every year. Since they cannot form words
themselves, we as people need to know when they need help from us. Yet, some of
us cruelly do the complete opposite. Leaving a poor dog outside in the frigid
temperatures or laying a hand on an animal are just a few examples of what some
horrid people... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We all wish they could tell us exactly what they want exactly when they need it.
But that is not the case. In reality, they just hope we can understand their body
language and oblige to them. People today are taking a stand for them in many
different, helpful ways. Some are becoming vegan or vegetarian to support their
beliefs and some are speaking in public places to spread their much needed word. As
of 2014, 16 million people had become vegan or vegetarian to help support the rights
of animals. This topic is important in history because without these animal liberation
movements, they would still be treated as a product on a grocery store shelf and not
living, breathing creatures that have feelings of their
3. The Tribe Of Judah
Lastly, Caleb signifies faithful obedience to God s commands and vision in the
book of Numbers. He believes God is able to deliver the evil inhabitants of Canaan
into their hands. In fact, Caleb is selected as one of twelve men to spy out the land in
preparations to take the land. He is chosen to represent the tribe of Judah (Schnittjer
2774). The assignment Mosesgave Caleb and the eleven others were to see the
strength of the people, the quality of the land and the kind of fortification the
towns had built (Numbers 13:17 20). Then, after forty days in the exploring the
land, the twelve returned with the report. All twelve attest to the land being a
place flowing with milk and honey (Numbers 13:27), meaning it was very fertile
and that the people were strong. Gary Schnittjer points out, The first report by the
twelve scouts was factual in that they emphasized the good land as well as the
strong inhabitants (Schnittjer 6488). Immediately, Caleb s says in faith, Let s go
at once to take the land...We can certainly conquer it! (Numbers 13:30). However,
the rest of the spies are afraid of the giants in the land and stir up the rest of the
community to fear the people in the Promised Land. Yet, Caleb s faithful obedience
to trust in the Lord and believe that the Land will be given to him, sets him apart
from all the other Israelites. In fact, it is only Caleb and Joshua that are recorded in
the second census of Numbers. The rest of the people die in the wilderness and

Question 7 Look at some data for a child at the one word stage of development (this
could be video data for the CHILDES database, or observational/diary data you have
collected from a child to whom you have access; the contextual function of one word
utterances can be hard to perceive in transcript only data).
Apply Greenfield and Smith s analysis, based on the uses of holophrases, to this
data. Remember that this analysis is focused on what a child is using their one word
utterances for, i.e. what the holophrases are used to accomplish. Does your data show
(some of?) the same functions for holophrases that Greenfield and Smith observed in
their study of two children?

After this, he believed that nouns are used significantly more than any other word
class/type. In contrast to this, Greenfield and Smith found that before the age of 1.6
years, children were more likely to use indicative and volitional expressions. From
this research, I can look at if there are any of these expression examples within my
data.
Children s initial declarative utterances can be about shared, specific referents and
aimed at focusing the listeners attention on something new, that has not been
previously mentioned. This is from the egocentric child point of view, (Greenfield
and Smith 1976.) The communicative function of the utterance can give a strong idea
of the child s aspect of reality, for example, imperative and interrogative functions.
They may not be well differentiated from a referential type utterance. (Ninio 1992).

6. The Goal Of The Anger Principle
The goal of the Anger Principle is to rationalize why an individual is angry and
calculate the extent of their anger within a situation. When trying to decipher
whether someone is angry, I look for a few key indicators, such as antisocial body
language and aggressive verbal language. Antisocial body language includes pacing,
rubbing your head, cupping your fist with your other hand, shaking or trembling,
clenching your jaws or grinding your teeth, and sweating, especially of the palms.
Aggressive verbal language includes getting sarcastic, losing your sense of humor,
raising your voice, speaking abrasively, and beginning to yell, scream, or cry. Many
of these signs were present in my various cases. Incidentally, case one is interesting
because feelings of angerweren t associated with this decision until 3 years later.
Now, whenever I am reminded, I begin to clench my jaw and rub my head. Also, I
m not very likely to speak when I am angry, but when I do I am sarcastic and
without a sense of humor, i.e., I ll say I was such a smart kid, of course,
skateboards can take you everywhere. If anyone else attempts to make a joke about
my situation, I d blankly stared at them, conveying my anger by rejecting humor
about the situation. As for case five, my friend is a big fan of the former vice
present, Joe Biden. So, when she told me about how she felt after receiving her grade,
she reported that she was sweating, shaking, and cupping her first with her other
hand. Even as she

In my 12 years of school I have won a variety of awards. They range from sports,
academics, participation, and some for just who I am as a person. I am proud for
each and every single one of those awards. Even though some might be for just
trying, I still take them as accomplishments. The one award that stands out from all
the others is the award that I won in my eighth grade year, The President s Academic
Achievement Award.
The President s Academic Achievement Award has to be the best award that I have
received throughout my life. The President s Academic Achievement Award signifies
academic excellence throughout the school year by earning good grades and scoring

On Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 10:30 pm, I, Sergeant Bever responded to a man
with a knife call at 5221 Rue St Germain. I spoke to Janice Johnson outside when I
arrived on scene. Janice said her son, Chadd Johnson was inside the house and had
a knife. I went inside and Officer Etheridge and Officer Hunter were attempting to
speak to Chadd, who barricaded himself in a bathroom. Chadd would not listen to
Officer requests for him to exit the bathroom. I went outside and looked through a
window into the bathroom. I could see Chadd standing and talking on the phone to
someone. Shortly afterward, Chadd set the phone down, grabbed a razor blade and
started to cut one of his wrists. I then ordered officers to forcibly make entry into the

9. The Biological Agents That Can Negatively Impact The...
Biological agents are living organisms or products of living organisms, and can be
found everywhere. Although, they may be useful in life, they could also be source
of threat to human health (European Agency for Safety and Health at work, 2016).
They include bacteria, fungi and viruses and their metabolites, as well as parasitic
worms and plants. Biological agents can enter the body by absorption through eyes,
skin, wounds (needle stick injuries, bites from animals etc) or mucous membranes
and by inhalation. In a situation of favourable living conditions, fungi, viruses and
bacteria reproduces very fast within a short period of time. And some of these
biological agents can be passed from one individual to the other. Biological agents are

In the case of Hepatitis A, individuals can easily contract it from close contact with
infected persons or through ingestion of contaminated food or faeces (London

with individuals infected with Hepatitis A, such as nausea, lack of appetite,
abdominal pain, fever and jaundice to coma and death. This disease can be prevented
in the work environment through personal hygiene, good sanitation, and waste
disposal. In term of comparison, hepatitis is 100 times more infectious than HIV, and
can be transmitted through saliva, blood, vaginal secretions, semen and urine (LHC,
2005). It is a disease that can be in the infected individual s body without any
symptoms. In the United Kingdom, almost 50,000 of the hepatitis B carriers are
symptomless, while one third of the infected persons are without symptoms. One
third was affected by mild flu like illness and severe illness confronted another one
third for about six months with vomiting, jaundice, nausea, fever, fatigue and pain.
Hepatitis if not properly managed can lead to cancer of the liver or Cirrhosis. Due to
the fact that healthcare workers like pathologists, surgeons, personnel in emergency
departments, dentists and dental hygienists, laboratory workers and personnel in
labour and delivery are at increased risk of infection if they are exposed to the blood

10. Jigsaw Killer From The Saw Franchise
Violence depends on the personality and character traits of young adults and
children. A child or teenager who has been brought up in an abusive family and
has been hit as a child will be more likely to act out against other people especially
if they have just seen a violent film. The character s of the movie will eventually get
a huge number of fan followers and the attitude s portrayed by the heroes in the film
will be followed by someone since they feel identify in there real life situation s.
The worst part is when a fan will copy the act performed, although they will risk their
own lives.

Jigsaw Killer from the Saw franchise. The main actor has all
11. Intern Nation By Ross Perlin
Intern Nation by Ross Perlin tells you most everything you ever wanted to know
about internships and then some. Equal parts history lesson, tell all and personal
commentary, this should be assigned reading for anyone considering taking part in
an internship. It has been coded into the minds of the young job seekers today that
they must first work for free if they ever hope to find a good paying position. Perlin
sends the necessary message though that the system that has been put in place to
make this possible is cracked and presents a bad deal for internshipseeking individual.
Perlin recounts that most internships are filled with less than fulfilling fun work
such as errands and clean up duty. This seems to provoke outrage and bitterness on
his behalf. On this point I have to say that I agree and disagree with him. In the
case of my internship I worked on some things that furthered my skill set, but
mostly on administrative reporting and lists of media contacts. However, I have
to say that as far as tales of workplace hardships go, mine were not particularly
horrible. There is boring work that is necessary for all businesses to succeed and
who better to do it than the lowest man on the totem pole the guy who doesn t have
the skills to do anything else and has yet to earn the privilege of doing more
important work. Yes, I ran errands and mostly did the repetitive work of compiling
administrative reports and media lists. This was the basis that must be laid if there is

13. The Pros And Cons Of Anti-Semitism
A widely spoken about topic in America is Isms, they can be described as ways to
discriminate practices, cultures, and groups of people; moreover, there are lsists
upon lists of isms in today s society being used to discriminate. Significant
oppressions in today s society are racism and transphobia, and a similar case would
be the discrimination of Jews. Represented as anti Semitism, this can be defined as,
Hostility toward or discrimination against Jews as a religious, ethnic, or racial group
( Anti Semitism ).
Although Adolf Hitler s reign of terror had a significant part in defining anti
Semitism, this dates as far back to the ancient Roman times. In 70 AD the dawn of
anti Semitism was exhibited when, Roman authorities destroyed the Jewish temple in
Jerusalem and forced Jews to leave Palestine ( The Holocaust ). Not only were Jews
discriminated against prior in World War II and the Holocaust, today, it is said that,
Israeli Jews all but universally say anti Semitism is at least somewhat common
around the world today, including nearly two thirds who say it is very common. (
Anti Semitism and discrimination ).
Israeli Jews have a strong opinion that, roughly three quarters say anti Semitism is
not only common but on the rise globally, while virtually no Israeli Jews say it is
decreasing (Anti Semitism and discrimination); On the other hand, Americans have
an opposing view of the incline of anti Semitism. Based on a HuffPost/YouGov
survey, Thirty five percent of

These open voids can be filled by volunteering. Along with that even though there
are sometimes one time volunteers, there are also individuals that are always
willing to put themselves out there and not just looking for the gratitude during
important times. Volunteering can have a huge impact on your community. There
is options to volunteer in your community by doing a variety of things. There is a
option to donate your time cleaning up in your local area. Another way that their is
a option to donate your time is by helping other individuals doing tasks that they
might not be able to perform on their own. By helping those who are less fortunate
than, not only are you doing the right thing, but you are also setting a good
example for others to follow. Many individuals may not be able to do things on
their own or might not be able to afford the basic things that contribute to survival
and by volunteering it opens the opportunity to make these things available to them.
There is such a high demand for volunteers for so many different things. This high
demand has caused people to look into easier and more accessible ways for people
to volunteer. There are options to volunteer through so many ways. There is now
ways to micro volunteering. By micro volunteering it allows you to volunteer small
amounts of time to do such things as setting up a ride for someone and offers the
availability to do this volunteering from your cell phone (Woods).
15. Into Thin Air by Jon Krakeur
Literary Analysis: Into Thin Air
In this novel, the reoccurring theme of responsibility is prevalent throughout
Krakeur s ascent up the third pole of the world, Mt. Everest. It is responsibility that
eventually leads John s climbing guide to drive himself to death as he struggles to
lead his clients up the mountain. This theme shows us that a hiking guide should
provide the utmost care and satisfaction to his clients throughout the climb, but
should refrain from doing so when the guides own health is in a significant amount
of danger. Even other fellow clients and climbers should be able to depend on each
other for aid and safety, but never at the risk of their own life. The actions of Andy
Harris, Krakauer s climbing guide, and his bold determination to care for the
survival and well being of his clients, make us question the depths to which a
person should go to care for other people before caring for themselves. Harris if
first shown to us in a light that suggests he s a bold and courageous man, even
being courageous to the point of recklessness, and this is what eventually causes
him his life. Indeed, this is what actually ends up taking place later in Krakauer s
account of the incident where he describes Harris plodding off to aid a couple of
clients. ...Harris who must have been severely debilitated, if his condition when I d
seen him on the South Summit two hours earlier was any indication plodding slowly
up the summit ridge to assist Hall and Hansen. It was an

different letters and colors, they are all a part of one thing: a sorority. B)All of
these different sororities had to come from somewhere right? C)There are over 80

they aren t official but people still join them. D)According to usnews.com only

Sororities were originally created from the image of fraternities. A)According to
dictionary.com, a fraternity is a local or national organization of male students,
primarily for social purposes, usually with secret initiation and rites and a name
composed of two or three Greek letters. B)When Fraternities were first thought of,
they had to be kept secret. 1.They were known as secret societies and only had up
to 30 members. 2.When they finally started getting recognition, women fraternities
came about. C)Sororities were originally known as women fraternities. 1.They
were known as women fraternities because that was the only word known to
describe them in the 1800s. 2.According to appstate.edu some sororities still are
required to use the word fraternity in their official name because they were already
legally incorporated and couldn t change it. 3.The first woman fraternity was called
The Adelphean Society. They were founded in 1851 at Wesleyan College in Macon,
Georgia. Because of this, more women fraternities started to surface and so it began.

17. Beowulf As A Theme Of Pride In British Literature
Pride is a major concept in British Literature. This human emotion is used in a
variety of literary works throughout British Literature. There is a certain conflict
that can be seen in the written works. Pagan culture views pride an important
characteristic while Christianity sees pride as a deadly sin. Having pride is strongly
against Christian beliefs, which can be seen in British Literature but it can also be
seen that the characters in the different works have a strong sense of pride. Pride has
had some changes in the way it is portrayed in British Literature due to these two
different cultures. The concept of pride has revolutionized over the centuries. It is
important for one to understand what pride means to fully comprehend it. According

This epic is the oldest surviving Germanic epic as well as the longest and most
important poem in Old English ( Anglo Saxon Literature ). The character,
Beowulf, is a fearless warrior who fought the deadliest monster that no other man
was willing to take on. He was considered the strongest of all warriors so he was
called upon to kill the monster Grendel. Beowulf s pride can be seen when
Beowulf states my hands alone shall fight for me; struggle for life against the
monster (Raffel 48). Beowulf wanted to kill the beast with his bare hands because
Grendel would not be using a sword either. This shows how prideful he is of his
strength and his capabilities of being able to kill the monster with his bare hands.
After Beowulf kills the monster Grendel, kennings describe him as the mighty
protector of men and Edgetho s brave son ( Pride in Beowulf ). Although there is
pride shown in this epic, biblical concepts are also present. In the epic, it is stated
that Grendel, his mother, and other fiends, goblins, monsters, and giants are
descendants of Cain s clan, whom the Creator had outlawed/ and condemned as
outcasts (Raffel 44). The reference to Cain, son of Adam and Eve who murdered
his own brother Abel, shows how Christianity affected the literary works of the
pagan culture. The church s influence can also be seen when it is stated he
[Grendel] never dared to touch king Hrothgar s glorious throne, protected by God
(Raffel 45). While the pagan culture s depiction of pride is strongly seen in Beowulf,
the influence of Christianity is also seen with the references of God and the Bible

18. Reflection Paper On Wrestling
One of the biggest goals I have in life to win a state championship in my favorite
sport. That sport is wrestling. I have wrestled since I was young in the third grade.
I was considered very overweight for my age. I sat at about ninety pounds as a 9 year
old. My parents wanted me to start being physically active and to get in shape. I
remember being in a buffalo wild wings and watching a wrestlingmatch on the
television and how cool I thought it was. I told my paresnts that wrestling was the
sport i wanted to do. The coach was a short man from India and he had tons of
experince from teaching wrestling back in his home country. He showed me all of
the basics and I felt very proud as i mastered each technique. When the day of my
first match came I was so nervous. My first match was called and I went out and
lost pretty bad. My next match was called and I lost again and because I had lost
two I was out. During the third grade I only won one match. When the fourth grade
came around I didnt want to do wrestling anymore because I thought I would just
lose again. When I turned twelve and started junior high i heard that the wrestling
team was pretty good at that school so I gave it a shot. Since the third and fourth
grade I had gotten in much better shape and I did a decent job at wrestling and all
the technique I learned was coming back to me. Once seventh grade came I was
already ready for wrestling to start. The first duel of the season we had was amazing.

I feel that this assessment overall went pretty well. Miss. S. had me work with three
students individually, and these students ranged from high performance to low
performance. I thought this was a good choice so I could experience difference

assessment on October 14th of 2016, in Miss. S s classroom during the students free
choice time. Of the three students that participated, one of the students receives
speech therapy. The first student that I assessed was Child 1, and he doesn t receive
extra services. Johnathan did really well overall, but did struggle with some words. I
feel that Johnathan could have taken his time more and really focused on sounding
the words out before saying what he thought they were. I did noticed that the mixed
up and mistaken some of the vowels. When I performed the spellingtest at the end,
Johnathan had trouble with the wordyou. When he started to spell the word he
started with OU, but then he corrected himself and spelt the word correctly. I still
marked the word as incorrect since he started spelling the word wrong. The second
student that I assessed was Child 2, and he receives speech therapy. I didn t
complete the assessment because Derek was struggling and wasn t close to saying
the words that I was pointing to. When saying some of the words he was either
correct or very close. With some of the words he was questioning himself whether he

Why was Germany unable to translate tactical and operational victories into strategic

loose World War II?
Why Germany lost the war (despite its early tactical successes) is a simple question

Germany s failure to translate its tactical and operational victories into strategic
success and overall victory. Examples of this disconnect and the calamitous effects
are clearly present in a quick analysis of the Battle of Britain.
During the Battle of Britain, Germany wanted to achieve air superiority but
ultimately failed to defeat the Royal Air Force (RAF). Hitler ordered the Lufwaffe to
destroy the RAF in preparation for Operation Sealion which was Germany s invasion
plan for Britain. Although numerous factors contributed to Hitler s decision to attack
Britain, in keeping with his one front at a time war methodology, Hitler wanted to
secure the Western Front prior to invading the Soviet Union. Initially, directed by
Hermann Goering (commander in chief of the Lufwaffe) Germany targeted Britain s
coastal areas and convoys, airports, and vital British air warning and radar
22. Flood In Europe Essay
Floods in Europe
In February 1995 large areas of the mainland countries in Europe were deluged with
water, and floods threatened the local people and towns. The River Rhine and its
many tributaries burst their banks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany,
Its tributaries include the rivers Meuse, Main Moselle and Ruhr. The floods were
devastation to Europe, killing people and animals, and destroying farmland and
building developments.
If you had lived in Holland at the time you would have been in big trouble. It is a
country where 75% of the land is below sea level and as a result, 15,000,000 live
below sea level. The dykes and levees were the only life savers the Dutch had. ...

There was too much water, and it came all too quickly. Some of the water was
retained by the soil, some was absorbed by vegetation, and a small percentage
evaporated. One may think that the dykes are sufficiently high to hold the huge
amount of water however they couldn t hold the amount that was produced from
the mountains and rainfall. Dykes are made from sand and clay and act like a
sponge, absorbing water. The longer the exposure there is a greater risk that the
dyke might collapse. If the dykes did collapse the land would be submerged under 20
feet of water.

their farmland. However many dairy farms didn t want to lose their cows in the
floods. So most people decided to take these cows in transport to their next
destination. When they started off on their journey, everyone was evacuating too,
so as you can imagine the traffic was awful. It took over 8 hours for some people to
arrive to their destination and by then the cows were stressed and tired. Due to
their condition they didn t produce very much milk and the owners lost even more
money. In some cases if you were very unlucky the people before using the trucks to
carry their cattle had foot disease. So some cows caught the disease and couldn t
produce any more milk, so the people lost even more money!

23. Bitcoin Is A Payment System
Introduction
Bitcoin is a payment system that was published in 2008 by Satoshi Nakamoto.
Bitcoin can be used to make online payments that do not include financial
institutions (Mazzei, 2015). Bitcoins can be used all over the world at many
restaurants, law firms, and other online services. Bitcoins can revolutionize the
entire world s payment system and take over our cash based society
(Wonglimpiyarat, 2015). It may be the payment system of the future but the
vulnerability that it possesses is dangerous. In a recent event that resulted in the loss
of around 1.8 million dollars, BitPay, an Atlanta based bitcoin payment processor,
was hacked. It was done by email and the modifications of a Google document. This

There is unlikely any other form of currency that has an equivalent amount to existing
fiat currencies (Meiklejohn, et al., 2016). There is no overruling administration which
has led to the anonymous transactions that are present with the use of Bitcoins.
Bitcoin is an independent online system that uses features of both cash and online
payment methods. Similar to the use of cash, Bitcoins allow the individuals to be
anonymous with their transactions. The transaction is cryptographically signed to
transfer the amount from one individual to another. At the same time these
transactions are irreversible. This is similar to the no charge back risk that is found
with credit cards. All Bitcoin transactions require a third party mediation: a global
peer to peer network of participants validates and certifies all transactions
(Meiklejohn, et al., 2016). This decentralization entails each transaction of the entire
system to be stored by each individual who uses Bitcoins. In 2012 this amounted to
over three gigabits of compressed data (Meiklejohn, et al., 2016).

The payment system that the United States uses is the dollar. The dollar like other
global currencies has no worth besides what people are willing to pay for it. The
United States dollar is backed by the government, meaning there is a form
24. The Pros And Cons Of Commodification In Football
Football, America s sport, which is loved from high school all the way to
professional level of the game, has evolved significantly over the years to becoming
as big of an entertainment spectacle as it has as well as becoming increasingly
competitive over the years that it has been in session. With the very first football game
being played between Rutgers and Princeton to Peyton Manning making a
touchdown pass that was recognized by the World Record Association in the game
against the 49ers, a spectator can tell the difference between not only skill and the
technical aspects of the game, but between the love for the game itself. It has created
a very huge fan base that has in turn, created many rivalries amongst the fans on

It has had a lot of positive effects on how it has evolved throughout the years. It has
created a lot of job opportunities for many people, as well as given chances to
people to be remotely involved and engaged with fantasy football. However, along
with these pros comes a few cons. Even though fantasy football has its positives to
it, it also has its negatives. When people get too into it, they start betting on it and
start to not care about the players that are involved. This leads to the next point that
players have started to form a mentality of no pain, no gain . They play through
pain and injuries, whether it be for fans wanting their favorite teams and players to
do well or that their love of the game has gone too far to a point that they do not
care how bad their damaging their bodies. The commodification overall has had a
good impact with some downsides to it. Another downside would be that some fans
do not even notice that these players are getting hurt and some do not even care just
as long as the game remains the entertaining Sunday tradition that they have taken
part in since they were

ADOLESCENT LANGUAGE AND LITERACY DEVELOPMENT
LESLEY CHU TSZ TING z5021045 Literacy acts as a very significant role in the
out of school lives of adolescents. At the most elementary level, academics and policy
makers have come to an agreement that the term literacy refers to the writing and
reading of published texts. Nevertheless, to a more extensive extent, literacy at the
present refers to even an artwork or a dance performance as a forms of a practice
of literature. Hence, literacy is essentially all over the place around teenagers, even
when they are not inside of school. Teenagers have easy access to different types of
out of school literacy around them in their everyday lives, like newspapers,
magazines or the television shows. Having an interest a passion in reading writing,

comprehend not simply various cultures and traditions but also themselves. Literacy
acts as a medium that can help a teenager find ways to work through and interconnect
their yet to come goals or future job prospects.
Over the past few years, education providers and policy makers have put large
prominence on the importance of early literacy, but have also paid less consideration
to the teenage literacy improvement. According to figures in the United States of
America, most teenagers have deficiency in the more advanced literacy,
comprehension and writing skills that are significant for them in prospering in
26. Ethical Conduct In Short-Writing And Analysis
An attorney s reputation is built by the care taken in brief writing. The judge
generally is influenced by an attorney s brief than by any other form of argument
made; therefore, the brief carries persuasive impact, for good or bad, not only for a
current client but all future ones. Linda H. Edwards, Legal Writing and Analysis,
167 (4th ed. 2015). Although the six duties of ethical conduct in brief writing are
equally relevant, I have placed six duties of ethical conduct in the following order, in
the order of highest importance to least importance. 1.A brief writer must not
knowingly make a false statement of law. 2.A brief writer must not knowingly make

Ethical conduct and legal accountability go hand in hand with integrity. According to

They are the values, convictions, ideas, and ideals that fix how one practices, as

27. An Analysis Of Dostoevsky s The Brothers Karamazov
Permission and Punishment
In Dostoevsky s The Brothers Karamazov, Rakitin responds to a central question
throughout the novel, What is permitted? when he proudly states to Dmitry that An
intelligent man can do anything he likes as long as he s clever enough to get away
with it (788). While Rakitin has found his answer to this question, multiple
characters in the novel are still stuck on that question. Throughout the novel,
Dostoevsky seems to separate these characters into two groups: the characters like
Dmitry who wonder if all actions are permitted and the characters like Ivan who
wonder if all thoughts are permitted. These groups seem completely separate until
Book 10 when a boy named Koyla Krasotkin comes onto the scene who seems to be
in both groups at once as he tests for himself exactly what thoughts and actions are
permitted. In Dostoevsky s The Brothers Karamazov, Dostoevsky uses Book 10 and
Kolya to introduce the idea that the free thinkers and the free doers are one in the
same in that they are wondering who will punish those who go beyond what is
permitted and by extension sets up an argument between moral and legal punishment
throughout the rest of the novel. Throughout the novel, Dmitry pushes the question
of what is permitted by doing things from taking advantage of women, to attacking
his own father in the hope that he might be punished. During one of his drunken talks
with Alyosha, Dmitry talks about a social event and mentions that I started
28. Research Paper On Wigs
History shows Egyptians wearing wigs, but those of means had human hair sewn
into their own hair. Powdered wigs graced royal heads during the (), and the
elaborate hairstyles of the Victorian, Edwardian and the Gilded Age were artistic
creations that were impossible without hair pieces. For every era there are elaborate
techniques for adding hairwhere needed or desired and as styles repeat themselves,
ancient hair weaving techniques have returned as today s hair extensions. Millions of
women will spend time and money on chemical curls, permanent relaxers and dyes to
hide age or draw attention. While these maneuvers change the hair s appearance, they
do not change the one thing that many men watch for, the length.
Wigs give their wearers immediate gratification, but wig caps can be drying,
inexpensive synthetic wigs can look unnatural, and human hair wigs can be too
expensive. Add the wear and tear of having a wig s cap rubbing against the hair and
length gained through patience can be lost to breakage. When modern women
consider temporary length, hair extensions are often the answer. However, choosing
high quality, human hair extensions means understanding human hair itself. Each
strand of hair is made three layers of a protein called Keratin. The medulla is the

They mostly tortured Jewish children and Gypsy children. Hoss used to kill kids

held in pressure chambers, tested with dangerous drugs, they were sterilized, and
some froze to death during experiments. Children were treated horribly. Even
though Höss did not perform any of these experiments himself, he was responsible
for ordering the deaths of those prisoners at his camp in Auschwitz. Höss enjoyed
killing Jews. He gassed, shot, starved, and burned Jews alive. Auschwitz became the
camp where the most European Jews were killed. After a gassing in Auschwitz as an
experiment in September 1941 with 850 prisoners, mass murder became a daily

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is the most prevalent endocrine abnormality of
reproductive aged women, occurring between 10 and 21% (March et al., 2010). Due
to its complexity, PCOS is associated with a spectrum of symptoms, including
amenorrhea, anovulation, hirsutism, acne, and obesity. All of which are subjective
and do not allow for a definitive diagnosis. Long term complications, such as
infertility, insulinresistance, dyslipidemia, depression, and anxiety require an early
diagnosis; but establishing a comprehensive diagnostic criterion has been difficult

Clara Barton is not only an example of women/ Americans at their finest, but she

duty in a time when women weren t necessarily valued not only socially but as assets

through nursing and providing supplies during the Civil War while also introducing
one of America s first responding organizations, the American Red Cross. Clara
Barton was a servant to this country and to mankind, something our world is

Clara Barton s life began in 1821 on Christmas Day in Oxford, Massachusetts. She

36. The Importance Of Communication In Communication
The workplace is an environment that is constantly changing the way managers and
co workers communicate. Whether it may be in communicating in person or online
there are typically different approaches to the communicating to different audiences
in the workplace. When co workers communicate they often send emails to each
other regarding a certain objective. The same principle applies to Managers except
being more formal is key to represent a professional proposal. Knowing the audience
you plan to communicate with is important because you need to tailor you message
accordingly to a higher management because the type of audience you are
presenting to needs to have the appropriate message. Things to consider is
recognizing the technical and ethical background of the person you begin to address.
This allows you to consider the person you write to as well as the level of
understanding both co worker and manager. Secondly, understanding the audience
you are speaking to is important, but so I identifying the type of writingmediums you

you can use email to send professional messages concerning objectives or business.
Another writing medium you can use with coworkers is memos. Memos are typically

Brave New World Final Essay Brave New World is a book by Aldous Huxley that
gives a look at dystopia from many of the critical thinking lenses. While the book
covers a lot of Marxist topics it also holds a large amount of feminist and historical
criticism topics as well. One of the Marxist topics is how there is one man running
the society and he gets to decide how everyone lives. It also portrays society
through a feminist lens by making society all about sex after work. Also through a
historical lens because his dystopia isn t too crazy of an idea in the society we live in
today. The thing that stands out to me the most is the Marxist aspect, as at the end

will be like while their in the womb, somewhere along the lines someone may use

governments or dictators ruling over them. The problems are there in this case it is

possibility about in our reality people making genetically modified people is Alphas

The transactional leadership style is understood to be the exchange or trade between

If the leader conforms to the widely understood definition and standard practices of

Employees under this leadership style are offered little or no guidance, no

assume organizational goals and objectives with job descriptions, policies, and

not good at setting their own deadlines, managing their own projects and solving
problems on their own. Therefore, employees under this leadership are not in the

Employees under this leadership will not have adequate support, guidance and

Laissez faire management or leadership seems to have an overall negative effect on
employee job performance as employees under this leadership will not have adequate

the deep sea food is very scarce. So the fact that they can eat lager paportions is a
very good adaption in their part. If they were not able to do that they would
probally end up dieing. The anglerfish developed a relationship with a certain type
of bacteria that can glow. That bacteria is in them but it stays in their esca. This is
a good thing because that makes them be able to light their esca so that they can

prejudice towards the speaker. Fricker uses the term testimonial injustice, which is
an injustice to someone whom is unjustly perceived by others to have less
knowledge than he/she actually has. An example of a systemic testimonial injustice
would be the accent of a speaker, causing the speaker to receive a credibility deficit.
The speaker is wronged in his/her knowledge as a result of the prejudiceemployed

An example of a credibility deficit would be a professor at a university receiving
less credibility and respect of his knowledge due to his accent. His accent could
lead the students to believe he isn t capable to be someone who holds much
knowledge. The students doing so wrongs the professor, and he is receiving
testimonial injustice. This type of testimonial injustice is systemic and not
justified as the professor is assumed to have this job because he is properly
qualified for the position. This example is systemic because it contains a
connection with a common prejudice that occurs often in society. People with
accents often face prejudice and receive a credibility deficit as a result. According
to Fricker, testimonial injustices occur when identity power is in play. Identity
power is whenever there is an operation of power with shared concepts of social
identities. An example Fricker uses of active identity power is a man silencing a
woman with a joke about her in The Talented Mr. Ripley. There are two types of
operations of power discussed by Fricker. An example of passive identity power is a
woman being silenced simply because she is a woman and feeling like she shouldn
t speak out. Identity power can work in a positive manner or a negative manner. An
example of identity power working positively would be a group of people voting
because it s a common practice in their social group. Identity power working
negatively would be a group of
42. Pros And Cons Of The Null Hypothesis
The Null Hypothesis is the thought that all vertebrates (with the exception of
humans) are of equal intelligence (Pearce, 2008). The Null Hypothesis was
proposed by Macphail (1982) and has since been widely debated; we will break these
debates into six categories for further examination.
Associative Learning
Associative learning is the capability of animals to learn associations between two
stimuli or a behavior and a stimuli. Associations can be made via classical
conditioning or operant conditioning. One of the biggest arguments against the Null
Hypothesis is that the experiments done have been confined to a species but not
done in a cross species design. This could mean that while one species may learn
an association through classical conditioning it may not be able to learn it through
operant conditioning or vice versa. As far as studies to date show, all vertebrae
species are capable of forming associations however further research is needed to
prove if all vertebrae species possess the same processes in forming associations.
Memory
There is evidence of memory differences across species. Some species have shown
that their short term memory surpasses that of other species but there is no clear
evidence if is it a result of different processing mechanisms of memory. There is
evidence that evolution may play a role ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Imitation was used to demonstrate that only some vertebrae species have
demonstrated the ability to imitate an action to achieve a goal. We cannot be sure
that the species that have not demonstrated the ability to imitate are not able to
however as there are many reasons that could sway their performance. The animal
may not find the reward to be worth the action or it could be form an experimental
design flaw. Regardless future research will need to be done to further assess the
ability of all vertebrae species ability of social
43. Causes of the French Revolution Essay
Causes of the French Revolution There is no doubt that the French Revolution has
had a profound effect on the world. The cause or causes of it have been greatly
disputed. Clearly the Revolution s primary cause was the presence of a weak
monarchy and a lack of a stable system of government. France s absolute monarchy
had many changes toward the end of the eighteenth century. Louis XIV, in his
attempts to centralize his authority and also lessen the power of the aristocrats, had
planned out an intendant system. The intendants were like governors. They would
oversee one region of the country. These intendants did not govern the region in
which they lived and were chosen from other than the aristocracy. This insured that...

There were three divisions or classes in France. These classes were called estates.
The first estate which was composed of church officials, had great power and
obtained enormous salaries. Church officials obtained their salaries via taxes
collected from church property. Therefore, since the officials received their
salaries from the church property, they did not have to pay taxes. The second estate
was mainly composed of nobility. They too were exempt from paying taxes. This
left the tax burden upon the third estate. The third estate consisted of some
merchants and entrepreneurs; however, the majority were peasants. Corruption of
the estates was causing much frustration among the common people who
composed 70 percent of the population. The monarchy tried to make an attempt to
give the third estate power. The monarchy established the Estate s General. This
too, was corrupted. Unlike most legislative bodies, the Estate s General did not
vote by each person having a single vote. Rather, they let each estate have one vote
each. Since the first two estates were always in agreement, the third estate was
always out voted. This is a prime example of how the lack of a stable government
had an immensely tragic effect on the people of the country. If the monarchy had
tried to make some reform or if Louis XVI had more backbone to institute some tax
reform to lessen the burden on the third
44. Social Classes In America
Social class ranks people on the social ladder of society (Kraus.2014). Social class
refers to the different between groups and individuals who are different from one
group to another group or even within a particular group of people. Every group of
people believes in particular ideas such as age, gender, education, religion, income,
family origin that put an individual in different position in society. Social groups in
higher classes always possess a great deal of power that gives them opportunity to
subordinate lower classes social classesinclude assumptions, biases, and prejudices
commonly found in most systems of stratification (Schmidt.2006) in social classes.
Classes in the United States have more to do with one s personal income, educational
attainment and occupational prestige for those of different ages. Although there are
many people in the United States who believe that American society has been
divided into three groups of people poor, middle classand rich, this society is more
diverse culturally and economically. While some may believe that because of such
diversity it is impossible to draw a distinctive lines between social classes in the
world, but there are some who think it will be helpful if we conduct major classes to
debate about class matters and to understand it better.

The second classes of people are those who enjoy high jobs with comfortable
income. Having received post secondary degrees and they belong to the white collar
professions.
Lower middle class of people have college education who usually suffers from the
lack of job security. They lack proper income.
The fourth class of people is the working class which includes those individuals who
belong to blue as well as white collar workers; with no college
45. Meerkats Analysis
In contrast to the reading passage, which emphasizes the altruistic qualities of
meerkats, the professor focuses on explaining some arguments that reedem the
characteristics of the mammal. First of all, the passage states that in groups of
meerkats, there is one which acts as a sentinel and that if a predator approches the
group, he gives an alarm cry alerting the other meerkats to escape from the predator,
but as some could consider this act heroic because the sentinel has no food and the
rest of the meerkats have the food they had hunted, the professor argues that a closer
studio revealed that the sentinel meerkat eats before starting guard so that it makes
no sacrifices as he is the first individual of the group who has full stomach. The

The damaged character of Blanche Dubois in A Streetcar Named Desire is led to
her own psychological death due to her tendencies towards idealism. The streetcar
that held the name desire promised a future for Blanche, it held empty promises of
fulfillment that caused an immense amount of pain in miss Dubois s life. The car
took her away from her own life and brought her to her own psychological
graveyard hidden behind the promise of a perfect and respectful future. The first
stop of desire was a transfer to a car named cemeteries where Blanche was
confronted by ideologies contrastingly different from her own. The next stop was

This stereotype is shown in Blanche s personality; however, she demonstrates a
faded version of the southern belle because despite her lack of wealth she continues
to carry herself with grandeur and eloquence. The southern belle represents someone
that comes from American Deep South s socioeconomic upper class. The depiction
of the southern belle was a lady who married young, came from a financially wealthy
family, and was dedicated to family and community. Having this role thrust upon her
only led Blanche to fight with her inner self and try to force a persona onto her. Even
though Blanche was an intelligent and independent woman the stereotype still loomed
over her and influenced her decisions; as a result of this, she suppressed her animus
into her shadow and created tensions within her psyche. Blanche s shadow contained
the qualities that she denied such as her animus; consequently, this according to Carl
Jung is the equivalence of death and in Blanche s case psychological death. Blanche
is a very dynamic character in that she not only displays characteristics of the
southern belle, but also shows symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder,
alcoholism, and nymphomania. The contrasts between her different characteristics,
such as southern belle and nymphomaniac, results in her psychological confusion and
creates a lack of self realization. Her post traumatic stress disorder is
47. The Sound Of Silence Movie Analysis
How did you respond to THE GRADUATE? Did the storyline and characters hold
your interest?
What about Benjamin Braddock (played by Dustin Hoffman)? Did you in any way
relate to his issues: specifically, what will he end up doing with his life now that he is
a college graduate; what will his future be; will he ever genuinely fall in love?
And even more specifically: How did you respond to the finale, and to what occurs
both in the church and on the bus?
Also, what about the infamous Mrs. Robinson (Anne Bancroft)? Was she little more
than a villainess: a completely selfish, self centered person? Or was there something
deeper within her? Was there a sense of sadness about her, a feeling that she was
living a life unfulfilled?

The repeatability of the jumps parameters were calculated as ratio of animal effect
variance to the sum of all random variances received from the model included
statistically significant fixed effects and regressions on the frame of horses. All
analyses were done using SAS procedure MIXED. The jumps parameters were
analyzed as different traits for free jumping and jumping under the rider. The style of
jump was characterized by measurements of taking off and landing distances,
measurements of lifting horses body over the obstacle and measurements of legs
lifting above the obstacle. The repeatability of distances of the jump s length were

In a Room of One s Own by Virginia Woolf, Woolf claims that Intellectual freedom
depends on material things (Woolf, 106). However, in Venus by Suzan Lori Parks
The Venus gains material things, but is still never freed from her circumstances. The
Girl, later known as The Venus, begins the play with the hopes of making a mint in a
new country. Although, her naivety is exploited and she ends up being used for the
entertainment of others. Throughout the play, The Venus is exploited, humiliated,
and assaulted under the care of The Mother Showman. However, when she meets The
Baron Docteur, she is able to gainall the material things that The Mother Showman
refused to give. While The Venus gains these material things, the sexualization of her

In both situations, she continues to be sexualized. While The Baron Docteur

uses her body to his own advantage. The Baron Docteur s intention to macerate The
Venus in order to make a name for himself shows his lack of care for The Venus
treatment, and this is the same for the Mother Showman. The Mother Showman
didn t care about The Venus at all; everything was okay as long as she continued to
profit off of the Venus. Both of them exploited The Venus and then threw her away
after she fulfilled their purpose. Secondly, in both situations, The Venus is lightly
clothed and her appearance allows the crowd to look at her in a sexual content.
Finally, under the care of The Mother Showman and The Baron Docteur The Venus
is sexually assaulted. The Venus tells The Mother Showman about men going into
her room, but she brushes it off by saying, Well./ It s the same/ for all of us, Love
(Parks, 56). The Mother Showman offers The Venus no comfort or tells her that she
ll protect The Venus which shows The Mother Showman s lack of care for The
Venus wellbeing. The Baron Docteur does the same thing when replying to what The
Venus tells him about The Anatomist touching her when he s not looking. He says,
How could they not? Touching you is well it s their job (Parks, 137). Both The Baron
50. Conservatism In The 1960 s
Before the 1960s Conservatism influence was on a decline. However in the 1960 s
the conservative agenda regained support with the rise of Barry Goldwater and
Reagan and the decline in Lyndon B. Johnson s popularity. They emerged from their
fervent opposition to modern liberal ideologies. Conservatives most enforced agenda
is small government which is contradictory to their belief that America should have a
big military. Also, conservatives enforced traditional values made them strong
opposers of the 1960s counter culture. Conservatives believed that their principles
could bring America out the the recession of 1960 and back to prosperity The Rise:

Conservatives believed that the counter culture would soon lead America into an
anarchic form of government because they were becoming too radical with their riots
and The counter culture activist or hippies used their life as a symbol of rebellion
towards the establishment, a government system who s agenda is only beneficial to
them. Hippies were using drugs, having pre marital sex. With the increase of sexual
activity, a market opened up for birth control pills and other contraceptives. Abortions
were steadily being legalized in each state and the reemergence of the feminist
movement made certain that women had a voice. This movement influenced many
women to begin living freely and disregard the constraints of motherhood. As a result,
the feminist movement gained momentum with activist including Betty Friedan, the
renowned author of The Feminine Mystique. Women across the country rallied for
the Equal Rights Act that would ban gender discrimination and make women equal to
men in the eyes of the law. The idea of women abandoning their positions as wife and
mothers scared conservatives. One Conservative in particular was against the ERA
even though it benefitted her, Phyllis Schlafly. She argued that the ERA, in fact, took
away women rights rather than give them rights. Scholarly instead that the ERA will
disregard the state support law, alimony, and state support law. Her

In the poem The Raven , by Edgar Allan Poe, the speaker grieves the loss of his
beloved Lenore, and through the use of different poetic techniques, Poe expresses the
speaker s feelings towards notion of death. Poe uses numerous of poetic devices
throughout the poem such as similes, personification, diction, repetition, as well as
tone to accurately depict the suspenseful moment of the man s encounter with the
raven. The Raven is one of Poe s most famous work and it has influenced society for
years. Majority of the events that took place in Poe s had a major impact on Poe s
writing style, which primarily consisted of morbid, melancholy tones, and almost

The everlasting state of loneliness can overwhelm a person s mindset almost to the
point of insanity. The death of a loved is a difficult hardship to endure, and Poe
does his best at capturing the speaker s feelings towards the death of his beloved

Poe s selection of words like bleak and ghost goes to show the grief, as well as the
miserable tone of the poem. Overall, the intense choice of diction, the somber
setting in winter, and the frantic tone all aid in overall theme of the poem, the act of
losing a loved one is a hard event to

(1) William Gates was born on October 28, 1955, in Seattle, Washington. Gates
father was a lawyer, and his mother served on the board of directors for First
Interstate Bancsystem and the United Way. Gates had an older sister and a
younger sister, the older sister was Kristianne and his younger sister was Libby.
He was the fourth of his name in his family, but he was really known as William
Gates III. His family encouraged competition very much, but no matter what, there
was always a reward for winning and losing. At 13, he enrolled in a private school
called Lakeside School. One of the systems was a PDP 10 which belonged to
ComputerCenter Corporation (CCC), which banned four Lakeside students Gates,
Paul Allen, Ric Weiland, and Kevin Evans for hacking the computers. The four
students offered to find bugs for the CCC s software for computer time. The deal
with the CCC continued until 1970, when the company went out of business. Gates
graduated from Lakeside School in 1973 and was a National Merit Scholar. He
scored 1590 out of 1600 on the SAT and enrolled at Harvard College in the autumn
of 1973. While at Harvard, he met Steve Ballmer, who would... Show more content on

To Kill a Mockingbird is a classic novel that has multiple benefits when taught in a
high school classroom. Some would disagree with this statement because of the
immaturity level of the students, the profanity and violence, and other controversial
topics. Despite its adult themes, To Kill a Mockingbird is an amazing novelthat
should be assigned to high schoolstudents because it provides an awareness of the
effects of prejudice and segregation, along with positive moral values that have the
ability to teach students to invent a moral code of their own. In order to contradict
these other thoughts, I will provide research on the negativity of the novel through

This includes the realization that the novel was published in 1960, and took place
in the 1930s, also known as the time of The Great Depression. This infers the novel
took place in a time period much different than ours today. Today one could see
most of us are more accepting of promoting equality for all. In the novel one needs
to understand the historical context, or what it meant to them. Is it possible they did
not do what they did out of hatred, but rather fear of loss of power and lack of
knowledge? According to Dr. William Thompson, psychologist, those reasons as a
whole could have possibly been how people in this era thought about prejudice and
segregation. During the B.C.E. era, events such as slavery were not practiced out of
prejudice, but rather led to it. If one understands that during history there was a
different mindset than there is today, then one could teach in a classroom that the
novel does not intend to harm students, but rather teach them a historical event, how
it led to prejudice and segregation, and how mindsets have changed
