Saul D. Alinsky believed in the power of community organizers. In 1972, he wrote
a book titled Rules for Radicals in which he created a set of thirteen rules of tactics
to be used by community organizers. Community organizers are known as change

Racial and Ethnic Inequality What is racial and ethnic inequality? To understand
racial and ethnic inequality you must understand what is considered race and what is
considered ethnicity. According to our textbook, Racecan be defined as a group or
population that shares a set of genetic characteristics and physical features meanwhile
ethnic groups are set off to some degree from other groups by displaying a unique set
of cultural traits, such as their language, religion, or diet (Leon Guerrero). When
others are treated unjustly, whether it is in the workplace, school, community, public
facilities, etc., due to their race or ethnic group then that is racial and ethnic
inequality. One big factor or cause of this inequality is racism. Racism is the belief in
the inferiority of certain racial or ethnic groups, often accompanied by discrimination
(Leon Guerrero). People believe that the color of a person s skin or certain features
of that person make them better than those who have a different color of skin or set
of physical features. They believe that their language and religion is the correct and
best meanwhile the rest are seen as inferior. Those same people think that because of
their skin tone or language, they should have more privileges and rights than those

Analysis Of Brooke Fraser s Kings And Queens
Brooke Fraser is a New Zealand musician who has gravitated towards the acoustic,
singer songwriter genre for most of her music career. Her latest album (2013)
Brutal Romantic marked a significant shift in her music as she moved into more
electronic sounds. Arithmetic is a very simplistic, acoustic song off her first album
What to Do with Daylight (2003). Kings and Queens is off her newest album and is
a highly produced song containing elements of rock, pop and electronic sounds.
These two songs I have chosen use various music techniques and show the
development of Fraser s music over the past decade.
Arithmetic (AR) and Kings and Queens (KQ) share three similarities with its
arranging techniques as both songs use common time 4/4 and a major tonal centre.
AR is in the key of B major and KQ is in the key of C major. The songs are played at
a moderate tempo; AR is slightly faster at 117 BPM and KQ at 100 BPM.
AR does not use the common V Ch form that many pop songs have; instead it
replaces the chorus with a refrain. The songs form is presented below and shows
that the song stays at a consistent, dynamic level with a slight raise in the 2nd V and

photographer who gained recognition by photographing animals and humans in
movement. He was hired by a rail road baron in 1872 to prove that there is a certain

life was affected by his father s absence and his parents failing marriage.
The author s writing style was very simple yet meaningful at the same time. My
overall favorite quote that stuck out to me throughout the whole book was in scene
two on page sixteen when Amanda tells Laura So what are we going to do the rest

Zero Tolerance
The zero tolerance policies call for students to receive automatic suspensions or
expulsions as punishment for certain offenses, primarily those involving weapons,
threats, or drugs. I agree that safety is an important concern in schools, but sometimes
the zero tolerance policy is taken too far. It is as if administrators don t distinguish
between minor and major discretions.
I do believe that students who get in fights or who bring drugs into school should ...
If anything, he/she might have gotten the idea from television or video games. I
understand that those who are disruptive to the learning process should be removed
from school. It is not fair to other students who actually want to learn. If they aren t
very disruptive, I think other punishments should be implemented, such as in school
suspensions.
In the movie we watched, it discussed an eight year old boy who was suspended for
playing with a paper gun. I see no harm in this. He obviously wasn t trying to hurt
anyone; he just wanted to play cowboys and Indians like a normal young boy.
However, due to the zero tolerance act, he was suspended. I see no fairness. I
would understand if he would have purposely hurt someone with his paper gun, but
he was just pretending. Also in another school, a school mascot wasn t allowed to
carry a cardboard sword around. It s not as if he wanted to attack someone with this
fake sword; it is just part of his costume.

Katie Hammil s play Sense and Sensibility, adapted from Jane Austen s novel of the
same name, is about reservedness and openness and how both behaviors can cause
misunderstanding, but ultimately result in the same outcome, which is revealed
through the play s characterization of the two Dashwood sisters, and the conflict
between them, which is all highlighted by the lighting and costume design as well as
the acting in the Playmakers Repertory Company production. Elinor Dashwood
(Shanelle Nichole Leonard) and her sister Marianne Dashwood(Emily Bosco) are
two people of very different temperaments. Elinor is characterized as reserved, and
she works to restrain her emotions for the sake of decorum and because she

Ferrars (Rishan Dhamija) appears at the end of the play, in the scene Edward is

however, both sisters are able to find romance and a happy ending, and can finally
begin to learn from their mistakes and accept each other for how they are. Both
