The Case Of Terry Vs Ohio
Ever since 1968 and the Supreme Court case of Terry vs Ohio was settled, stop and frisking
policies have been used by police everywhere in the United States. However, lately the use of this
tactic, especially in New York, has raised the questions of whether or not these stop and frisks are
actually helping as well as the question of whether or not these supposed random stops are
unbiased. There have been a great number of arguments for the continuation of stop and frisk
policies as well as the cease of such tactics to lower the crimerate in cities. In New York, these
concerns were first brought to light in the late 1990 s. Throughout this decade, the huge decrease
in crime rates had been credited to the fact that NYPD had taken the stop and frisk policies very
seriously. However, near the end of the decade there were repeated complaints of harassment of
minority communities (Gelman). The people of New York were complaining that the NYPD were
stopping people and treating people differently based on their ethnic background, which brings up
the bigger and more disturbing question; Were the policestopping minorities based on racial
bias?To better look at the history of the practice of stopping and friskingand how it evolved into
what it is today, it would be best to more fully define when it is ok for police officers to stop and
frisk people. According to the 4th Amendment, it is constitutional for police officers to detain and
search people if there is

Good Will In Kant s Simony Dilemma
The Simony Dilemma applies to anyone who obtained their position illegitimately by bribery,
false credentials, lying, inappropriate influence, etc. but does an outstanding job. An example
would be if someone was accepted to a prestigious university, but was not honest in their
application. Of course this person would be proud and honored to attend such a university, but
they would know that they did not truly deserve to be there, even if the excelled at the school.
They would always have guilt that they took someone else s spot who may have been more
deserving. In this example of the Simony Dilemma, Kant believes that a good will is an
unqualified good, or a good without qualification. Deontologism says the value of an act depends
on more than consequences, while... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kant believes the moral quality of an act doesn t depend on consequences at all. In this way, kant
would say that it doesn t matter whether or not you take someone else s spot at a university,
even if they were more deserving. Kant claims we have moral obligations to ourselves and
others. In his argument, there are two kinds of obligations: perfect obligations and imperfect
obligations. The perfect obligation to ourselves is suicide as we use it to avoid pain. The perfect
obligation to others is promises as we use them to gain advantage. The imperfect obligation to
ourselves is our talents as we use our lives for mere enjoyment; we do not give ourselves full
respect as moral and rational agent. The imperfect obligation to others is charity as it does not give
others full respect as moral and rational agents. In

Our Secret By Susan Wideman Analysis
Non fiction can be a misleading genre for many because at a young age students are taught that
this word relates solely to biographies, historical events or nature; however, this is very untrue. A
vast variety of prose writings that can be about nearly anything as long as the events, people and
facts are authentic would be considered as non fiction. Two pieces of writingthat effectively prove
this claim are Our Secret by Susan Griffin and Our Time by John Edgar Wideman. Each of these
essays take a unique path to emphasize their points whilst keeping their audience on the edge of
their seats. Comparison: While the authors cause confusion for the readers by switching between
viewpoints, they still create an intimate connection between reader... Show more content on

By utilizing such different introductory sentences, it lures readers in because the ideas
presented are new and unheard of before and the originality is refreshing. The lesson on the
nucleus is critical because it becomes the center of the essay; it is where identity is formed.
Every story in Our Secret relates back to the core idea of identity and how it is formed and
shaped. Griffin writes, Like the stone in a cherry, it is found in the center of the cell, and like this
stone, keeps its precious kernel in a shell (Griffin 233). It demonstrates that the nucleus is a vital
part of life because without it, humans would amount to nothing and our existence would be for
naught. The human race revolves around something so trivial yet so significant. In addition,
Wideman s introduction forces readers to face the racial issues presented in the essay and to
understand why it began like this. In his writing, Wideman states, ...their world is the GHETTO...all
the the praise and attention is given to the slick guy (Wideman 422). In the first paragraph,
Wideman attempts to justify and explain the actions of a black man and to ensure

Martin Scoorsese s Influence On American Culture
Martin Scorsese is an award winning film director and writer, who has created culture shaping
movies over the past six decades. His work is dark, gritty, real, and sometimes misinterpreted,
which lead to a large scandal in the 1980 s. However, its hard to deny the impact this director has
left on American culture. Martin Scorsese is an inspirational for his filmdirecting and producing,
screenwriting, and his effect on American culture. Martin Scorsese began his career as a
producer and director in 1967, with his first major film, Who s That Knocking at My Door . As a
director, he d become famous from his movie Taxi Driver . This movie was released in 1976 and it

Scorsese wrote one of the most iconic movies in American history, Goodfellas . Goodfellas went
on to triumph. It won widespread critical acclaim, success at the box office and earned six Oscar
nominations. Twenty five years later, its recognition as a classic is near universal. Goodfellas
didn t just look authentic. For those who d led the Mafia life it had a definite sense of the real
thing. Twenty five years on, Goodfellas is more than just special, it s viewed as a real
masterpiece, among the best pictures of the 1990s and possibly the best movie Martin Scorsese
has ever made (Tom Brook 2015). Goodfellas has the same dark heart, understanding that even as
the audience watches on with horror, there s some tiny part of them that has completely
surrendered to the madness and the fun. That was Goodfellas s original genius and, even in
retrospect, it seems impossible to equal (David Sims 2015). Goodfellas changed the way we
viewed gangsters and the mafia. His screenwriting has told fantastic stories over the years. In
addition to writing Goodfellas , he wrote Mean Streets , The Age of Innocence , Casino , and

Feed, A Futuristic Novel
Feed, a futuristic novel by M.T. Anderson, left me feeling disturbed about the faults in perfection.
In a society completely ruled by technology, most of the country has a chip implanted in their
brain since birth that acts as a phone, computer, television, and more, which known as the feed.
The feed allows people to chat using just their connected brains, watch television programs, play
games, order goods, and research any topic. From the start, I recognized that this was a scary
concept, because it meant that website owners and product producers had access to one s
thoughts, preferences, and personality. What made this book so eerie was that I could experience
what it would be like to have a constant voice in my head, directing me to... Show more content on

Because of the feed, with everyone having access to whatever they please already in their brain,
everyone is smart, and no one has to work for it. There is mass danger in this concept. If
everyone is smart, no one is smart, because no one knows more than anyone else, and no one
stands out. It s like if you were to highlight everything in an article. If you did that, nothing would
be important anymore. This is what the feed does. It is run by companies who search everyone s
brains, and create products that will appeal to everyone. In order to do that, the companies need to
make a very simple product everyone can enjoy, slowly deteriorating difference, and slowly
making everyone simpler people. In light of what the novel stresses: that making things too easy for
humans will ruin the meaning for their existence, the author creates a character essential to get this
point across. Violet, Titus girlfriend, was different from Titus and his friends. She grew up with less
money than them, and with parents against the feed from the start. However, she eventually got the
feed, only to run into problems when a hacker damages it permanently. Violet, unlike Titus,
understands that companies running the feed were slowly abusing their power to create products
they know will have mass appeal. Violet resists this, trying to create a personality profile that
cannot fit in with the norms of the feed. Later, when Violet s feed, which has latched on

Binge Drinking in Colleges and Universities
A recent event that showcases that binge drinking is still a problem for many college students at
the University of Iowa is the story of one Iowa student during the 2013 football season.
Samantha Goudie, who is a twenty two year old University of Iowa student, was once known as
Vodka Samm not only around the Iowa City area but nationally. One day in a highly intoxicated
state, she tried to jump onto the field during a regular home football game and after quickly being
arrested was known around the nation as The World s Drunkest College Student. She was cited for
having a blood alcohol level of .341 percent, which is more than four times the legal driving limit.
This event just continued to help solidify the Universityof Iowa s out of control party school
reputation. However, it did bring light to the serious problem of the students binge drinkingand its
effects especially during home football games. In 2009, to try to reduce the amount of underage
and binge drinking, Iowa City passed an ordinance that banned people under the age of twenty one
from being in the bars pass 10:00 PM. Since this ordinance was enacted there has been a drop in the
number of citations for public intoxication, possession of alcohol for minors, and driving under the
influence. (Hennigan) The ordinance has brought good change to the city, but many people argue
that instead of actually changing the amount people drink it has only shifted where and how people
drink alcohol. Since the ordinance

Disadvantages Of Pesticides
INTRODUCRION
Pesticides and their alternatives are an undeniable part of modern life, used to protect everything
from flower gardens to agricultural crops from specific pests (Saravi Shokrzadeh, 2011) Pesticides
are considered a vital component of modern farming, playing a major role in maintaining high
agricultural productivity. Consequently, in high input intensive agricultural production systems,
the widespread use of pesticides to manage pests has emerged as a dominant feature (Saravi
Shokrzadeh, 2011) Pesticides comprise a large number of substances that belong to many different
chemical classes, they are applied to crops at various stages of cultivation to provide protection
against pests and during post harvest storage to preserve quality, to ensure the safety of food for
consumers and regulate international trade and legislation. Pesticides are considered to be essential
for agricultural development; some of them can cause serious ambient contamination, principally in
food (Sitta et al., 2000; Gonzalez et al., 2003). This hazard, could be further increased in case of
vegetable fruits which are usually consumed freshly e.g. consumed vegetable fruits freshly
contaminated with pesticide residues, more than allowable tolerance (Romeh et al., 2000). Various

which was produced by Barak Goodman and Rachel Dretzin . This documentary explores the
heavily dependence of youth on the mass media. This documentary is about the selling and
buying of cool. In America mostly consumers of cool are teenagers. In a certain year, hundred
billion dollars of their own money spend by the teen agers. While teens influence their parents

relationship among mass media, who frequently sales cool and teenagers. Throughout the film
this relationship discussed. Some people affirms that desires and wants of teens expressed by the
media. On the other hand, some people believed that, to earn profit, media has created a cool
market. Conclusion of this film revealed that many people believed that media and teenagers are in
a loop of feedback. It is believed that purpose of this feedback loop has to blend the teen culture and
real culture. By blending these two cultures to make a new single culture. No one can determine
that which culture will be more influenced. Conglomerates like Viacom, Walt Disney, Vivendi
Universal, News Corp and AOL Time Warner, these are some media giants. These media giants own
these products and often sold these products to the teenagers. Marketing methods of different

Current Market Segments Of Tesla
changing market dynamics, rendering itself with certain information lag and marketing inaccuracy.
Current market segments of Tesla China are generally based on income level and an added up
function of technology savviness. Such market segment pattern can be easily seen through Tesla s
development track in China and its technological centric product strategy. The characteristic of such
market segments is quite straight forward, much resembles the characteristic of Tesla Motors itself.
Under the new market outlook, however, it can hardly afford to ignore the lower income fan base
which would have a huge positive promotional effect for Tesla brand.
With a large customer base and the Chinese government pushing force, would not be difficult for
Tesla to educate the unaware mass market of its concept and technological advances. This will
create a strong social stream which might influence its potential customers. The lower income
segments could also serve as a good customer base for the much anticipated Model 3.
2. Promotional Strategy
Create a Buzz
Tesla Motors had endorsed a direct sales strategy and pretty much only relied on word of mouth in
promoting its brand. Although word of mouth is one of the most credible ways of advertising, its
influence is quite limited especially during new product promotion. This approach has slowed down
the brand penetration process into the potential market segments, which might be a major reason
for the loss of sales momentum since last

Peter Singer Equality
In All Animals Are Equal, Peter Singer argues that any being with sentience should be granted
equal moral consideration on the basis of the concept of equality and the principle of equal
consideration of interests. In this paper, I will reconstruct Singer s argument and explain the
premises on how he came to this conclusion. To begin with, Singer defines sentience as the
capacity to suffer or experience enjoyment or happiness (Singer 53). Singer states that if a being is
not capable of suffering, or of experiencing enjoyment or happiness, there is nothing to be taken
into account... This is why the limit of sentience... is the only defensible boundary of concern for
the interests of other (Singer 50).
Firstly, Singer claims that we should understand the concept of equality as a reason for accepting
the conclusion of his argument. What he means by this is that the concept of equality is a moral
ideal and not a simple assertion of fact (Singer 52). In other words, when we say that all human
beings are equal, we do not assert that they are in fact equal in intelligence, moral capacity, physical
strength, or similar matters of fact. Instead, we assert that they ... Show more content on

That is to say, for any being that has interests, these interests must be taken as equally morally
important with similar interests of another being. However, Singer notes that equal consideration of
interests does not imply identical treatment. Instead, Singer argues that the principle of equality is
equality of equal consideration for different beings may lead to different treatment and rights
(Singer 50). Extending to nonhuman animals the same moral consideration we extend to human
beings means that we give the interests of nonhuman animals the same weight as comparable
interests of human beings (Singer

Disadvantages Of Mountain Uplift
Mountain uplift is known to greatly enhance rates of physical erosion and chemical weathering
compared to the rates in tectonically stable regions... orogenic events lead to global cooling over

The carbonate weathering involved in the downdraw of CO2 (Wcarb CO2) is inversely correlated
to the silicate weathering involved in the downdraw of CO2 (Wsil co2).
Carbonate Ca Mg weathering is 5.8 times greater in exposed to uplifting to stable landscapes, with
silicate Ca Mg weathering have less prevalence at 3.7 times greater respectably.
Wsil co2 is 5.6 times lower than Wcarb CO2 on the uplifting area.
Therefore in summary Chemical weathering and mechanical erosion rates are statically different
between eastern and western sides of the mountain range with p 0.002 for Wchem, Wmech, Wsil,
Wcarb, and Wcarb CO2 and p 0.04 for Wsil co2 (Jacobson Blum, 2003, 866).
The difference of WSil and Wcarb decrease the Wchem/Wmech increase there difference so
mechanical erosion and water movement in high attitude tectonics areas increase sil and car W.

Hawking Bias
The media have always had a huge influence on everything in society both negatively and
positively. There is no telling that everything said in the media is true, because the media can

There are a variety of science fiction movies out there and I think they all equally portray
fictional scientists both negatively and positively. According to Davis (2012), science
influenced science fiction, but science fiction affected science in ways such as how people
think about scientific researches and progress, and created a lot of misunderstandings amongst
society on certain areas of science. For instance, in Jurassic World, the new hybrid dinosaur they
genetically altered became dangerous and nearly killed thousands of people in the park when it
escaped from his cage, thus making the scientist who created this a bad scientist for tampering
with nature. Victor Frankenstein movie depicts two men using science to create life from death,
or some may say, trying to play God. The Island of Dr. Moreau features a mad scientist who
makes half human beasts. Movies like Jurassic World, Victor Frankenstein, and The island of Dr.
Moreau can create a misunderstanding and leave people fearful of the idea of tinkering with
nature (Davis, 2012). I believe that tampering with nature is not a bad thing or even be viewed as
bad because the positive and good things we know and have in our modern world is the result of
some tinkering done by

The First Day Of English Class
I look the first debate judge in the eyes and he nods. Then my gaze drifts to the second one and
she smiles. Finally I look to my right at my final judge, he simply winks at me. I close my eyes
and count to three. It s finally time to begin; this is my time. These next three minutes everyone has
to listen to me and my opinion. I open my mouth, but the only thought going through my head is,
why? Why am I doing this? Why am I here? Why did I make this mistake?
It was the first day of English class and the teacher asked, who here has ever given a class
presentation before? I looked around hoping, praying, that someone else is like me. However
fate was not on my side. Every hand in the class was proudly raised high and I was all alone on my
little island of fear. The teacher looked directly at me and asked why I had not ever done a
presentation. I m a clicker, I mumbled, it was barely audible but the teacher heard it and his face
softened. Well Mr. Peschansky it s time you become a talker.
A psychological study done in the early 70 s found that people are more afraid of public speaking
then of death. Standing at the front of the room in my first debate tournament I realize just how
true that is. All I can hear is my heart hammering away in my chest, my legs feel like they are
going to give and I m shaking all over.

How Fashion Photography Has Changed Throughout The Years
In this essay I am going to discuss how fashion photography has evolved throughout the decades.
Some of the subjects I am going to discuss are; the beginnings of fashion photography, the different
styles of fashion photography, and fashion magazines.
Fashion photography is a genre of photography in which clothing and other material garments are
photographed for the purpose of displaying in a fashion magazine or for the use in an advertisement.
This style of photography has been around since the early days of photography itself, however the
first fashion photographs didn t surface until 1856. Photographer Adolphe Braun took the first
fashion photographs of Virginia Oldoini, Countess of Castiglione. These photographs were
published into a book which contained over 200 other photographs of the Countess. Due to these
photographs the Countess became the first ever fashion model. In the 1990 s printing
advancements meant that photographers could include their work in magazine spreads. This
allowed fashion magazines like Vogue and Harper s Bazaar (which were both founded in the 1800
s) to include photographs. These magazines were initially hand illustrated but the new
developments in printing meant that fashion magazines were able to show photographs of what the
clothing actually looked like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of these can include catalogue/look book images, editorial images, and high fashion images.
Each genre requires a different approach because they each have a specific style requirement to
fulfil. For example, catalogue images need to show a set wardrobe of clothing so that the brand/
company can sell more of the items, the poses that the models are in are very simple and the
images are very clean cut. On the other hand, high fashion images are styled completely different.
High fashion images are made to look out of the ordinary with dramatic clothing and exaggerated

Why College Is Important To Me Research Paper
In today s society, going to college is very important to me especially. This is because many
different jobs require some type of college degree. For me particularly, I need a four year college
degree to do what I would like to do, which is, nursing. Although there were thousands of colleges
to choose from, Northwest Florida State Collegeseemed to be the perfect fit for me because of all
my personal reasons, for example, smaller classes, close to home which helps me and my family

There are many different reasons I believe Northwest Florida State College was right for me.
First example is I was looking for a college that had smaller class sizes. Smaller class sizes help

study groups, and helps me spend more time engaging with the professor. Also, coming from a

Implementing Fixed Patient For Nurse Ratios
Implementing Fixed Patient to Nurse Ratios in High Volume High Acuity Settings
Striving for excellent patient care is the cornerstone of nursing. However, delivery of innovative
care requires nurses to take initiative in finding issues and concerns in current clinical practices to
promote change that leads to optimal patient outcomes. One current issue in clinical practice is the
varying patient to nurse ratios (PNRs) amongst different hospitals (Aiken et al., 2012). Having
high PNRs may lead to nurse burnout, medical errors, and ineffective nursing care (Aiken et al.,
2012; Karavasiliadou Athanasakis, 2014). The solution would be to regulate PNRs, especially in
areas such as the emergency room. To initiate this change, a task force would have to be established
to use current data and research as evidence to propose the change, implement the change and
evaluate its effectiveness.
Change Model Overview
The Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence Based Practice (JHNEBP) process can be used to
facilitate change. This process serves as a guideline to access, combine, and implement research
into nursing practice. According to Dearholt and Dang (2012), the JHNEBP is an 18 step process
that occurs in three phases. Phase one of the JHNEBP contains steps 1 through 5 and can be
summarized as the practice question phase where the issue is identified (Dearholt Dang, 2012).
Phase two is the evidence phase containing steps 6 through 10 and is where search for evidence
pertaining to the issue

The Ethical And Moral Implications Of The Programmer
The programmer I have recruited didn t work at a company previous to his employment at our
company. Assuming he did though I will discuss the ethical and moral implications of using work
that he has created at his previous (imaginary) employment.
Throughout this question, the term creator will be used, this refers to the entity that created the
software. In this case it was the programmer using his own software, but he must be treated as a
different entity as to when he was working at another company. This means that although he made
the software, he is legally a different entity now and must seek permission from the company at
which he created the software. This company will be referred to as the creator throughout this
essay, as they in legal terms created the software product, not the programmer.
The programmer who works at our company has had previous employment at another software
company from which he has still has previous work that he created. The Association for
Computing Machinery (ACM) has compiled a list of the ethical and moral principles from which
a programmer should obey to be in the moral good. These principles are, contribute to society and
human well being, don t harm to others, be honest and trustworthy, give proper credit for
intellectual property, respect the privacy of others, honor their confidentiality, approve software
only if they have a well founded belief it is safe and meets specifications, accept full responsibility

The Ugly Duckling Analysis
The tale of The Ugly Duckling has been told for many generations. It is the story of a little swan
that is mistakenly hatched in a duck s nest and because of his strange and different appearance he
is teased and ridiculed. Even his mother can t understand how this ugly duckling could be one of
her own. The ugly duckling goes through many hardships and a long, lonely winter. Then upon
seeing his reflection in the pond he realizes that he has become a beautiful swan and happily swims
off, joining a group of nearby swans.
At first glance, many may perceive this as a cut and dry fairy tale. Sending the message that without

If they are different from your society that you have been raised by, maybe it s time to change
your view on people because no one should be left out of anything for the wrong reasons. Being
different from everyone else is a quality that we should embrace in ourselves and in others.
There can be comparisons in other writings in stories like these. One comparison of this story is
the book Speak. The main character Melinda Sordino is being excluded from society because of
her actions the previous summer. She cannot find her place in society and she is forced to venture
through it on her own. Just like the duckling, she goes through many obstacles along the way of
acceptation in society. In the end of both stories the main characters find their place in society and
they are finally accepted for who they truly are. They embraced their inner beauty to get them
accepted by people who are just like them.
In the modes of literature there are four mode lines to follow off of. One of the mode lines are
romance, which is most commonly used beside comedy. In the beginning of the story there is a
mild conflict, and in this case the ugly duckling is driven away and excluded from society
because he looks differently and he acts different from everyone else. He tries to find his place
everywhere around the land but he can t find anywhere, where he is accepted. The final point on

Bravehearts Film Techniques
Bravehearts
Mel Gibson is Bravehearts director as well as the main star. This is a well made movie that I
really enjoyed. The movie Bravehearts is an amazing account of one Scotsman that decided to
fight the oppression of the English to gain his freedom. With this one mans vision an awesome
movie is created. There is a scene for just about all audiences. There are war scenes, romantic
scenes, and who could forget dramatic scenes.
At the beginning of the movie we see William Wallacethe main character as a young boy. The
setting is a small cottage in Scotland. His father and brother are about to embark on a trip to battle.
As the townspeople cart the two dead bodies back to the cottage, the entire tone of the movie is set.

The two make eye contact and an immediate flame ignites.
This is the first example of romance that the movie shows. As the young lovers are drawn to
each other they decide to elope. This is the beginning of the end of the calm William. As the
town guards see the lovers interacting, they decide to rape the young women. Of course the
minute the first scream is let out William strikes down the guards one at a time. His gives his
young wife a horse and tells her ride off while he makes his own tracks. His wife is captured, and
in order to attract William, her throat is cut and the war begins.
The next scene that is presented is a rather solemn faced William on horseback. Whack! the first
guard is struck down with one blow. William is on a rampage for the murder of his beloved wife.
The guards are not able to withhold Will as well as the other townspeople. The fortress is
overtaken and the noble who sliced Williams wife throat is given the same death.

rule with the decisions he makes. My pulse started to race and my mind was constantly working.

conceived in Kovno, Lithuania. She moved with her family to St. Petersburg, Russia (1882),

Goldman s personal life was treacherous and saddening from the start. Most men amid this time

Three Causes Of The Boxer Rebellion
The Boxer Rebellion was an uprising initiated in China, after the Chinese suffered many
devastating defeats at the hands of foreign powers. Originating in the 1900 s, a secret organisation
called the Society of the Righteous and Harmonious Fists, began carrying out attacks on Chinese
Christians and foreigners. They became known in the West as the boxers , for their martial arts
fighting style. What caused the Boxer Rebellion? There were three main causes.
The first cause for the Boxer Rebellion, was the anti foreign stance in China. As a result of suffering
humiliating defeats in both the first, and second Opium wars, China was forced to grant
concessions to foreigners. Furthermore, they had to sign the unequal treaties which allowed the
West to gain a significant amount of control over China. This left the Chinese population poverty
stricken, and angry at foreign powers. The economy became disrupted by the arrival of modernity
and industrialism. According to historian David Silbey Many Chinese worked in industries that
were disrupted by the arrival of the railroad and the telegraph. There was a sense that China s
balance had been thrown out of whack by these modern innovations, and only by destroying the
innovations and the foreigners who brought them could the balance be restored. . The Chinese
regarded the West as foreign devils , and wished to retain sovereignty and independence. They were
extremely nationalistic. Mark Twain addressed the boxer rebellion in 1900.

Essay about Nitrogen fixation
The growth of all organisms depends on the availability of mineral nutrients, and none is more
important than nitrogen, which is required in large amounts as an essential component of proteins,
nucleic acids and other cellular constituents. There is an abundant supply of nitrogen in the earth s
atmosphere nearly 79% in the form of N2 gas. However, N2 is unavailable for use by most
organisms because there is a triple bond between the two nitrogen atoms, making the molecule
almost inert. In order for nitrogen to be used for growth it must be quot;fixed quot; (combined) in
the form of ammonium (NH4) or nitrate (NO3) ions. The weathering of rocks releasesthese ions so
slowly that it has a neglible effect on the availability of fixed... Show more content on

We shall deal first with the process of nitrogen fixation and the nitrogen fixing organisms, then
consider the microbial processes involved in the cycling of nitrogen in the biosphere.
A relatively small amount of ammonia is produced by lightning. Some ammonia, also is produced
industrially by the Haber Bosch process, using an iron based catalyst, very high pressures and fairly
high temperature. But the major conversion of N2 into ammonia, and thence into proteins, is
achieved by microorganisms in the process called nitrogen fixation (or dinitrogen fixation).
Biological nitrogen fixation can be represented by the following equation, in which two moles of
ammonia are produced from one mole of nitrogen gas, at the expense of 16 moles of ATP and a
supply of electrons and protons (hydrogen ions):
N2 + 8H+ + 8e + 16 ATP = 2NH3 + H2 + 16ADP + 16 Pi
This reaction is performed exclusively by prokaryotes (the bacteria and related organisms), using an
enzyme complex termed nitrogenase. This enzyme consists of two proteins an iron protein and a
molybdenum iron protein, as shown below.
The reactions occur while N2 is bound to the nitrogenase enzyme complex. The Fe protein is first
reduced by electrons donated by ferredoxin. Then the reduced Fe protein binds ATP and reduces the
molybdenum iron protein, which donates
3
electrons to N2, producing HN=NH. In two further cycles of this process (each requiring electrons
donated by ferredoxin) HN=NH is reduced to H2N NH2,

Filariasis has no clear vaccine. Thus, the best way to eradicate the disease is by eliminating
microfilaria from the infected individuals, which therefore will interrupt the process of transmitting
the infection by the mosquito. Administration of diethylcarbamazine concurrently with albendazole
or invermectin (DEC) is proven to eliminate 99% of microfilaria from the infected individual.
Albeit advance treatment of this disease is currently available, vigorous action should be taken by
the communities and the respective agencies to abolish all potential breeding sites for mosquitoes.
WHO classify this disease a disease of the poor, due to its pervasiveness to occur in remote rural
areas. Thus, if I were to construct two premises on filariasis, I would say; first, to have a
filariasis is to live in poverty. Second, people are infected by filariasis. And therefore, I would
conclude that those who are infected by filariasis are most likely to live in poverty. As has been
stated by the WHO, the fight to eliminate filariasis is also a fight against poverty .
Malaria is another example of vector borne infectious disease that uses mosquitos as vectors and
would infects the blood. Malaria remains a big problem in many sub tropical and tropical
countries. The United States is considered Malaria free since it has been eradicated in this
country since early 1950 s. However, over 1300 cases of malaria, including 8 deaths were reported
in 2002.

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Existentialism
Introduction
There are many philosophies that people use in their lives. Some of the ways of thinking are linked
to some prominent people. There is idealism, naturalism, experimentalism, and existentialism
among others. This essay explores existentialism, which has been postulated by Sartre among
others. The other proponents of existentialism include Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, martin Buber,
Martin Heidegger and Martin Buber. The weakness and strengths of existentialism are going to be
discussed in this essay. The main facets of existentialism that are going to be discussed include the
following: authenticity, existence precedes essence, being and nothingness, being in itself, being
for itself and man being condemned to be free. The basic issues discussed by existentialists also
include; anxiety, death, alienation, despair, forlornness, anguish, quietism and abandonment among
other aspects that distinguish existentialism from other philosophies.
Existentialism focuses on the subjective views and experiences on individuals as the sources of
truth and reality for them. Existentialism has its base on how each individual person interprets
the world around him/her. The individual has the freedom to do what he/she wants to do as long
as such a person is liable for the consequences of his/hers. As a result, the individuals dictate his
truth, his reality or what he believes is good or bad. This is against the other philosophies that
relate what is good on laws and rules, norms and mores

Pharaoh refused so Moses turned the Nile river into blood. According to Document 3 it tells us
that Moses sent 10 plagues with god s power. This mean, that he is worthy of my trust to lead me

the camera on the back of the cellphone, a far cry from what its inventors had first envisioned it

Today it s hardly a secret that all news sources big or small depend on this camera wielding citizen

The Better Online Ticket Sale Act will prohibit the usage of computer softwares to purchase

unfair. If I was a member of congress, I would have supported this act because using softwares to

history, takes a different standpoint than Aristotle and Ruskin. Carnegie believe the distribution of
wealth is important in an economy, and the wealthier are more capable of handling money. The
way of obtaining wealth is not so important as compared to the way of spending it, Carnegie
believe the rich have the responsibility of improving the society, and they should allow their wealth

Why Vegetables Are A Natural Treasure Of Nutrients Gifted...
The importance of vegetables in human nutrition has been well known since the dawn of human
civilization. The vegetables are considered as a natural treasure of nutrients gifted by God to human
beings. They constitute an important part of our daily diet and do not just embellish our table, but
also enrich the human health by providing cheaper sources of vitamins, minerals and fibers. They
play a pivotal role in countervailing the acids produced during the digestion of fats and proteins and
also provide valuable roughages, which stimulate digestion and help in checking chronic
constipation (Rasmussen et al., 2006). Besides vegetables are home for diverse varieties of health
benefiting phytochemicals having antioxidant, antifungal,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is because of the non availability of adequate amounts of vegetables, as their actual
production is considerably less than the required quantity. However vegetables still hold a very
high potential for combating the food shortage as their yield per unit area is more than five times
of any cereal crop. Assuming a 3.5 to 5.5 percent Gross Domestic Product Growth rate in India,
the projected demand for vegetables in 2030 will be 151 193 million metric tonnes
(Sammugasundaram, 2005). To achieve this, every possible effort is being made to make sure that
there is enough vegetable production in the near future. More production of vegetables in India is
very essential owing to the population explosion. Therefore, a planned development in the field of
vegetable production will not only improve the nutritional requirement for the masses, but can also
meet the challenge of adequate food supply to the growing population in India. India is home to a
large variety of vegetables belonging to tropical, subtropical and temperate groups. The vegetables
most commonly cultivated are potato, cabbage, cucurbits, eggplant, okra, tomato, onion, carrot,
chili and some other legumes (FAO, 2010). Phytonematodes are ruinous and economically most
important pests of many cultivated crops around the world (Trifonova et al., 2009) damaging
vegetables, particularly in tropical and subtropical countries (Sikora and Fernandez,

JFK Assassination Historical Narrative
JFK Assassination Historical Narrative November 22, 1963 is a day Jacqueline Kennedy will
remember forever. Around 11:30 a.m. Jackie and her husband, the president, John F. Kennedy
arrived in Dallas, Texas. Jackie was excited to be in Dallas, but she also knew this trip could
determine if her husband would be re elected. At noon, the motorcade headed toward downtown
Dallas. Everything was perfect; the people loved Mr. Kennedy. At 12:29, Nellie Conally, the wife
of Texas governor, turns to the president and says, Mr. President, you can t say Dallas doesn t love
you. This was the last thing John F. Kennedyheard before he was shot. He replied with, No, you
certainly can t. Seconds later Jackie turns to her right and sees her husband has been shot once...

He looked confused and puzzled. On the way to the hospital she kept looking down saying, Jack.
Jack. Jack. Can you hear me? Jack, I love you. When they got to Parkland hospital, Jackie was
still in a state of shock. Jackie refused to leave the operating room and sat next to Jack the whole
time. The doctors didn t give Jackie hope. There was nothing they could do. Jackie was
devastated and couldn t believe what the doctors were telling her. The first lady held his hand as
she realized that this was the last time she would see her husband alive. In tears, she placed her
ring on his finger. At 1:33 p.m. central time the president, John F. Kennedy, was announced dead.
When the doctors told Jackie the news she was speechless. She was unable to speak and simply
mouthed the words I know . She leaned in and kissed her husbands feet to his lips. At 2:20 p.m.
the president s hearse arrived at Air Force One with the 1st lady sitting next to it. She was shocked
and fearful of the future. At 2:47 Air Force One leaves Dallas. Jacqueline makes funeral plans and
Lyndon B. Johnson prepares to be the next president. Lady Bird Johnson suggested to Jackie that

Home Schooling Vs. Public Education
When one thinks of education, almost automatically public education comes to mind. Through the
years, preferences for educating children have slowly been changing. Home schooling was
primarily restricted to religious groups, but in the past several years, it has rapidly been moving
into mainstream society (Ray). Parents today are deciding to home schooltheir children, although
there are those who still believe public educationis better. Home schooling is legal in every state
and involves as many as 1.5 million children (Wingert Katrowitz). Critics of home schooling raise
questions about academic and social issues. Parents of the home schooled maintain they are not
valid. Home schooling is overall more beneficial than public schools in the education of children.
The idea of home schooling first became popular in the 160 s and 170 s in religious and hippie
communities in an attempt to train children in their values. However, in many states home
schooling was illegal until a court battle in the 10 s legalized it. Since that time, this type of
education has been growing worldwide. In 18, it was estimated that about 1.5 million children
were being home schooled. By 000, the estimate changed to 1.7 million children (Ray). In addition,
the reputation of home schooling changed considerably. In a survey conducted in 18, 5 percent of
the respondents showed evidence that home schooled children were well adjusted socially and
performed on standardized tests as well or better than

Assimilation Of The United States Constitution Essay
America has the United States Constitution as its map of operation. This Constitution s Preamble
states that ...in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, and insure domestic
tranquility...promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our
prosperity... If this statement is true, there would be no need to research whether assimilation or
separatism would be ideal for minorities to enjoy domestic tranquility and/ or liberty. As a
minority, we would not have to think about what we lose or gain if we choose assimilation or
separatism. In order for assimilation to occur a minority group becomes an integrated part of the
majority group; this assimilation results in non distinguishing of one group from another by
cultural characteristics. In order for this process to be complete, it must entail, not only an active
effort by the minority group to shed all distinguishing actions and beliefs, and also complete
unqualified acceptance of that individual by the dominant society. Implementation of this process
will gradually integrate the minority into the system, causing all groups to be culturally similar
with their differences no longer a basis for prejudice from the dominant group. (Dubois, Miley 172)
The rationale for assimilation from the structural sociologist s point of view is that assimilation is
the best way to reduce cultural differences between the dominant group and the majority group.
They also insist that there would

Introduction Of A Primary Alcohol
Substitution
5. Introduction In this experiment, a primary alcohol was converted into a primary bromoalkane
using hydrobromic acid. The reaction was done under reflux and then distilled to obtain a product
of higher purity. The degree of the alkyl halide obtained from the experiment was tested with silver
nitrate and sodium iodide. An infrared (IR) spectra and the weight of the product were obtained for
further analysis. The IR gave information on the present functional groups and product weight was
used to calculate the percent yield.
6. Data and Results The product obtained after reflux was a yellow liquid. With the halide tests, the
product reacted faster with sodium iodide to form a precipitate than with silver nitrate. This
indicates that the degree of the product was primary and that bromine did replace the alcohol
group. The IR of the product showed four peaks at 3326.36, 2932.86, 1465.34, and 1028.73.
These peaks indicate O H, C H, C H3, and C O bonds, respectively, within the product. 2.032
grams of product were recovered from the reaction. With this, a percent yield of 27.14% was
calculated. 7. Discussion and Conclusion Nucleophilic aliphatic substitution is the replacement of
one group for another at a saturated, sp3 hybridized carbon atom. This process is often used to
interconvert functional groups, such as in the preparation of alkyl halides. In these reactions,
nucleophiles attack the carbon atom which the electronegative leaving group breaks its bond

  • 2. The Case Of Terry Vs Ohio Ever since 1968 and the Supreme Court case of Terry vs Ohio was settled, stop and frisking policies have been used by police everywhere in the United States. However, lately the use of this tactic, especially in New York, has raised the questions of whether or not these stop and frisks are actually helping as well as the question of whether or not these supposed random stops are unbiased. There have been a great number of arguments for the continuation of stop and frisk policies as well as the cease of such tactics to lower the crimerate in cities. In New York, these concerns were first brought to light in the late 1990 s. Throughout this decade, the huge decrease in crime rates had been credited to the fact that NYPD had taken the stop and frisk policies very seriously. However, near the end of the decade there were repeated complaints of harassment of minority communities (Gelman). The people of New York were complaining that the NYPD were stopping people and treating people differently based on their ethnic background, which brings up the bigger and more disturbing question; Were the policestopping minorities based on racial bias?To better look at the history of the practice of stopping and friskingand how it evolved into what it is today, it would be best to more fully define when it is ok for police officers to stop and frisk people. According to the 4th Amendment, it is constitutional for police officers to detain and search people if there is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Good Will In Kant s Simony Dilemma The Simony Dilemma applies to anyone who obtained their position illegitimately by bribery, false credentials, lying, inappropriate influence, etc. but does an outstanding job. An example would be if someone was accepted to a prestigious university, but was not honest in their application. Of course this person would be proud and honored to attend such a university, but they would know that they did not truly deserve to be there, even if the excelled at the school. They would always have guilt that they took someone else s spot who may have been more deserving. In this example of the Simony Dilemma, Kant believes that a good will is an unqualified good, or a good without qualification. The perfect obligation to ourselves is suicide as we use it to avoid pain. The perfect obligation to others is promises as we use them to gain advantage. The imperfect obligation to ourselves is our talents as we use our lives for mere enjoyment; we do not give ourselves full respect as moral and rational agent. • 4. Our Secret By Susan Wideman Analysis Non fiction can be a misleading genre for many because at a young age students are taught that this word relates solely to biographies, historical events or nature; however, this is very untrue. A vast variety of prose writings that can be about nearly anything as long as the events, people and facts are authentic would be considered as non fiction. Two pieces of writingthat effectively prove this claim are Our Secret by Susan Griffin and Our Time by John Edgar Wideman. Each of these essays take a unique path to emphasize their points whilst keeping their audience on the edge of their seats. By utilizing such different introductory sentences, it lures readers in because the ideas presented are new and unheard of before and the originality is refreshing. The lesson on the nucleus is critical because it becomes the center of the essay; it is where identity is formed. Every story in Our Secret relates back to the core idea of identity and how it is formed and shaped. Griffin writes, Like the stone in a cherry, it is found in the center of the cell, and like this stone, keeps its precious kernel in a shell (Griffin 233). It demonstrates that the nucleus is a vital part of life because without it, humans would amount to nothing and our existence would be for naught. The human race revolves around something so trivial yet so significant. In addition, Wideman s introduction forces readers to face the racial issues presented in the essay and to understand why it began like this. In his writing, Wideman states, ...their world is the GHETTO...all the the praise and attention is given to the slick guy (Wideman 422). In a society completely ruled by technology, most of the country has a chip implanted in their brain since birth that acts as a phone, computer, television, and more, which known as the feed. The feed allows people to chat using just their connected brains, watch television programs, play games, order goods, and research any topic. From the start, I recognized that this was a scary concept, because it meant that website owners and product producers had access to one s thoughts, preferences, and personality. If everyone is smart, no one is smart, because no one knows more than anyone else, and no one stands out. It s like if you were to highlight everything in an article. If you did that, nothing would be important anymore. This is what the feed does. It is run by companies who search everyone s brains, and create products that will appeal to everyone. In order to do that, the companies need to make a very simple product everyone can enjoy, slowly deteriorating difference, and slowly making everyone simpler people. In light of what the novel stresses: that making things too easy for humans will ruin the meaning for their existence, the author creates a character essential to get this point across. Violet, Titus girlfriend, was different from Titus and his friends. She grew up with less money than them, and with parents against the feed from the start. However, she eventually got the feed, only to run into problems when a hacker damages it permanently. Binge Drinking in Colleges and Universities A recent event that showcases that binge drinking is still a problem for many college students at the University of Iowa is the story of one Iowa student during the 2013 football season. Samantha Goudie, who is a twenty two year old University of Iowa student, was once known as Vodka Samm not only around the Iowa City area but nationally. One day in a highly intoxicated state, she tried to jump onto the field during a regular home football game and after quickly being arrested was known around the nation as The World s Drunkest College Student. She was cited for having a blood alcohol level of .341 percent, which is more than four times the legal driving limit. This event just continued to help solidify the Universityof Iowa s out of control party school reputation. However, it did bring light to the serious problem of the students binge drinkingand its effects especially during home football games. In 2009, to try to reduce the amount of underage and binge drinking, Iowa City passed an ordinance that banned people under the age of twenty one from being in the bars pass 10:00 PM. Since this ordinance was enacted there has been a drop in the number of citations for public intoxication, possession of alcohol for minors, and driving under the influence. Consequently, in high input intensive agricultural production systems, the widespread use of pesticides to manage pests has emerged as a dominant feature (Saravi Shokrzadeh, 2011) Pesticides comprise a large number of substances that belong to many different chemical classes, they are applied to crops at various stages of cultivation to provide protection against pests and during post harvest storage to preserve quality, to ensure the safety of food for consumers and regulate international trade and legislation. Current market segments of Tesla China are generally based on income level and an added up function of technology savviness. Such market segment pattern can be easily seen through Tesla s development track in China and its technological centric product strategy. The characteristic of such market segments is quite straight forward, much resembles the characteristic of Tesla Motors itself. Under the new market outlook, however, it can hardly afford to ignore the lower income fan base which would have a huge positive promotional effect for Tesla brand. With a large customer base and the Chinese government pushing force, would not be difficult for Tesla to educate the unaware mass market of its concept and technological advances. This will create a strong social stream which might influence its potential customers. The lower income segments could also serve as a good customer base for the much anticipated Model 3. 2. Promotional Strategy Create a Buzz Tesla Motors had endorsed a direct sales strategy and pretty much only relied on word of mouth in promoting its brand. Although word of mouth is one of the most credible ways of advertising, its influence is quite limited especially during new product promotion. This approach has slowed down the brand penetration process into the potential market segments, which might be a major reason for the loss of sales momentum since last ... Peter Singer Equality In All Animals Are Equal, Peter Singer argues that any being with sentience should be granted equal moral consideration on the basis of the concept of equality and the principle of equal consideration of interests. In this paper, I will reconstruct Singer s argument and explain the premises on how he came to this conclusion. To begin with, Singer defines sentience as the capacity to suffer or experience enjoyment or happiness (Singer 53). Singer states that if a being is not capable of suffering, or of experiencing enjoyment or happiness, there is nothing to be taken into account... This is why the limit of sentience... is the only defensible boundary of concern for the interests of other (Singer 50). Firstly, Singer claims that we should understand the concept of equality as a reason for accepting the conclusion of his argument. What he means by this is that the concept of equality is a moral ideal and not a simple assertion of fact (Singer 52). Some of the subjects I am going to discuss are; the beginnings of fashion photography, the different styles of fashion photography, and fashion magazines. Fashion photography is a genre of photography in which clothing and other material garments are photographed for the purpose of displaying in a fashion magazine or for the use in an advertisement. This style of photography has been around since the early days of photography itself, however the first fashion photographs didn t surface until 1856. Photographer Adolphe Braun took the first fashion photographs of Virginia Oldoini, Countess of Castiglione. These photographs were published into a book which contained over 200 other photographs of the Countess. Due to these photographs the Countess became the first ever fashion model. In the 1990 s printing advancements meant that photographers could include their work in magazine spreads. • 22. Implementing Fixed Patient For Nurse Ratios Implementing Fixed Patient to Nurse Ratios in High Volume High Acuity Settings Striving for excellent patient care is the cornerstone of nursing. However, delivery of innovative care requires nurses to take initiative in finding issues and concerns in current clinical practices to promote change that leads to optimal patient outcomes. One current issue in clinical practice is the varying patient to nurse ratios (PNRs) amongst different hospitals (Aiken et al., 2012). Having high PNRs may lead to nurse burnout, medical errors, and ineffective nursing care (Aiken et al., 2012; Karavasiliadou Athanasakis, 2014). The solution would be to regulate PNRs, especially in areas such as the emergency room. To initiate this change, a task force would have to be established to use current data and research as evidence to propose the change, implement the change and evaluate its effectiveness. Change Model Overview The Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence Based Practice (JHNEBP) process can be used to facilitate change. This process serves as a guideline to access, combine, and implement research into nursing practice. According to Dearholt and Dang (2012), the JHNEBP is an 18 step process that occurs in three phases. Phase one of the JHNEBP contains steps 1 through 5 and can be summarized as the practice question phase where the issue is identified (Dearholt Dang, 2012). Phase two is the evidence phase containing steps 6 through 10 and is where search for evidence pertaining to the issue ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Assuming he did though I will discuss the ethical and moral implications of using work that he has created at his previous (imaginary) employment. Throughout this question, the term creator will be used, this refers to the entity that created the software. In this case it was the programmer using his own software, but he must be treated as a different entity as to when he was working at another company. This means that although he made the software, he is legally a different entity now and must seek permission from the company at which he created the software. This company will be referred to as the creator throughout this essay, as they in legal terms created the software product, not the programmer. The programmer who works at our company has had previous employment at another software company from which he has still has previous work that he created. The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) has compiled a list of the ethical and moral principles from which a programmer should obey to be in the moral good. These principles are, contribute to society and human well being, don t harm to others, be honest and trustworthy, give proper credit for intellectual property, respect the privacy of others, honor their confidentiality, approve software only if they have a well founded belief it is safe and meets specifications, accept full responsibility for their own work, not ... One comparison of this story is the book Speak. The main character Melinda Sordino is being excluded from society because of her actions the previous summer. She cannot find her place in society and she is forced to venture through it on her own. Just like the duckling, she goes through many obstacles along the way of acceptation in society. • 29. Three Causes Of The Boxer Rebellion The Boxer Rebellion was an uprising initiated in China, after the Chinese suffered many devastating defeats at the hands of foreign powers. Originating in the 1900 s, a secret organisation called the Society of the Righteous and Harmonious Fists, began carrying out attacks on Chinese Christians and foreigners. They became known in the West as the boxers , for their martial arts fighting style. What caused the Boxer Rebellion? There were three main causes. The first cause for the Boxer Rebellion, was the anti foreign stance in China. As a result of suffering humiliating defeats in both the first, and second Opium wars, China was forced to grant concessions to foreigners. Furthermore, they had to sign the unequal treaties which allowed the West to gain a significant amount of control over China. This left the Chinese population poverty stricken, and angry at foreign powers. The economy became disrupted by the arrival of modernity and industrialism. According to historian David Silbey Many Chinese worked in industries that were disrupted by the arrival of the railroad and the telegraph. There was a sense that China s balance had been thrown out of whack by these modern innovations, and only by destroying the innovations and the foreigners who brought them could the balance be restored. . The Chinese regarded the West as foreign devils , and wished to retain sovereignty and independence. They were extremely nationalistic. Mark Twain addressed the boxer rebellion in 1900. ... • 30. Essay about Nitrogen fixation The growth of all organisms depends on the availability of mineral nutrients, and none is more important than nitrogen, which is required in large amounts as an essential component of proteins, nucleic acids and other cellular constituents. There is an abundant supply of nitrogen in the earth s atmosphere nearly 79% in the form of N2 gas. However, N2 is unavailable for use by most organisms because there is a triple bond between the two nitrogen atoms, making the molecule almost inert. In order for nitrogen to be used for growth it must be quot;fixed quot; (combined) in the form of ammonium (NH4) or nitrate (NO3) ions. The weathering of rocks releasesthese ions so slowly that it has a neglible effect on the availability of fixed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We shall deal first with the process of nitrogen fixation and the nitrogen fixing organisms, then consider the microbial processes involved in the cycling of nitrogen in the biosphere. A relatively small amount of ammonia is produced by lightning. Some ammonia, also is produced industrially by the Haber Bosch process, using an iron based catalyst, very high pressures and fairly high temperature. But the major conversion of N2 into ammonia, and thence into proteins, is achieved by microorganisms in the process called nitrogen fixation (or dinitrogen fixation). Biological nitrogen fixation can be represented by the following equation, in which two moles of ammonia are produced from one mole of nitrogen gas, at the expense of 16 moles of ATP and a supply of electrons and protons (hydrogen ions): N2 + 8H+ + 8e + 16 ATP = 2NH3 + H2 + 16ADP + 16 Pi This reaction is performed exclusively by prokaryotes (the bacteria and related organisms), using an enzyme complex termed nitrogenase. This enzyme consists of two proteins an iron protein and a molybdenum iron protein, as shown below. The reactions occur while N2 is bound to the nitrogenase enzyme complex. The Fe protein is first reduced by electrons donated by ferredoxin. Then the reduced Fe protein binds ATP and reduces the molybdenum iron protein, which donates 3 electrons to N2, producing HN=NH. In two further cycles of this process (each requiring electrons donated by ferredoxin) HN=NH is reduced to H2N NH2, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Albeit advance treatment of this disease is currently available, vigorous action should be taken by the communities and the respective agencies to abolish all potential breeding sites for mosquitoes. The individual has the freedom to do what he/she wants to do as long as such a person is liable for the consequences of his/hers. Therefore, a planned development in the field of vegetable production will not only improve the nutritional requirement for the masses, but can also meet the challenge of adequate food supply to the growing population in India. India is home to a large variety of vegetables belonging to tropical, subtropical and temperate groups. The vegetables most commonly cultivated are potato, cabbage, cucurbits, eggplant, okra, tomato, onion, carrot, chili and some other legumes (FAO, 2010). Phytonematodes are ruinous and economically most important pests of many cultivated crops around the world (Trifonova et al., 2009) damaging vegetables, particularly in tropical and subtropical countries (Sikora and Fernandez, ... • 42. JFK Assassination Historical Narrative JFK Assassination Historical Narrative November 22, 1963 is a day Jacqueline Kennedy will remember forever. Around 11:30 a.m. Jackie and her husband, the president, John F. Kennedy arrived in Dallas, Texas. Jackie was excited to be in Dallas, but she also knew this trip could determine if her husband would be re elected. At noon, the motorcade headed toward downtown Dallas. Everything was perfect; the people loved Mr. Kennedy. At 12:29, Nellie Conally, the wife of Texas governor, turns to the president and says, Mr. President, you can t say Dallas doesn t love you. This was the last thing John F. Kennedyheard before he was shot. He replied with, No, you certainly can t. Seconds later Jackie turns to her right and sees her husband has been shot once... • 43. Home Schooling Vs. Public Education When one thinks of education, almost automatically public education comes to mind. Through the years, preferences for educating children have slowly been changing. Home schooling was primarily restricted to religious groups, but in the past several years, it has rapidly been moving into mainstream society (Ray). Parents today are deciding to home schooltheir children, although there are those who still believe public educationis better. Home schooling is legal in every state and involves as many as 1.5 million children (Wingert Katrowitz). Critics of home schooling raise questions about academic and social issues. Parents of the home schooled maintain they are not valid. Home schooling is overall more beneficial than public schools in the education of children. The idea of home schooling first became popular in the 160 s and 170 s in religious and hippie communities in an attempt to train children in their values. However, in many states home schooling was illegal until a court battle in the 10 s legalized it. Since that time, this type of education has been growing worldwide. In 18, it was estimated that about 1.5 million children were being home schooled. By 000, the estimate changed to 1.7 million children (Ray). In addition, the reputation of home schooling changed considerably. In a survey conducted in 18, 5 percent of the respondents showed evidence that home schooled children were well adjusted socially and performed on standardized tests as well or better than ... • 44. Assimilation Of The United States Constitution Essay America has the United States Constitution as its map of operation. This Constitution s Preamble states that ...in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, and insure domestic tranquility...promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our prosperity... If this statement is true, there would be no need to research whether assimilation or separatism would be ideal for minorities to enjoy domestic tranquility and/ or liberty. As a minority, we would not have to think about what we lose or gain if we choose assimilation or separatism. In order for assimilation to occur a minority group becomes an integrated part of the majority group; this assimilation results in non distinguishing of one group from another by cultural characteristics. In order for this process to be complete, it must entail, not only an active effort by the minority group to shed all distinguishing actions and beliefs, and also complete unqualified acceptance of that individual by the dominant society. Implementation of this process will gradually integrate the minority into the system, causing all groups to be culturally similar with their differences no longer a basis for prejudice from the dominant group. (Dubois, Miley 172) The rationale for assimilation from the structural sociologist s point of view is that assimilation is the best way to reduce cultural differences between the dominant group and the majority group. They also insist that there would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Introduction Of A Primary Alcohol Substitution 5. Introduction In this experiment, a primary alcohol was converted into a primary bromoalkane using hydrobromic acid. The reaction was done under reflux and then distilled to obtain a product of higher purity. The degree of the alkyl halide obtained from the experiment was tested with silver nitrate and sodium iodide. An infrared (IR) spectra and the weight of the product were obtained for further analysis. The IR gave information on the present functional groups and product weight was used to calculate the percent yield. 6. Data and Results The product obtained after reflux was a yellow liquid. With the halide tests, the product reacted faster with sodium iodide to form a precipitate than with silver nitrate. This indicates that the degree of the product was primary and that bromine did replace the alcohol group. The IR of the product showed four peaks at 3326.36, 2932.86, 1465.34, and 1028.73. These peaks indicate O H, C H, C H3, and C O bonds, respectively, within the product. 2.032 grams of product were recovered from the reaction. With this, a percent yield of 27.14% was calculated. 7. Discussion and Conclusion Nucleophilic aliphatic substitution is the replacement of one group for another at a saturated, sp3 hybridized carbon atom. This process is often used to interconvert functional groups, such as in the preparation of alkyl halides. In these reactions, nucleophiles attack the carbon atom which the electronegative leaving group breaks its bond ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
